Hallucinogens Pros And Cons
I am going to be talking about the different drugs that make a human hallucinate. I will describe what
the drugs are, what they do to the human brain, and what they can do to the human body.
Hallucinogens are drugs that cause false sensory messages and alter the perception of reality. Some of
the most popular hallucinogens are LSD, PCP, and MDMA. I will also be talking about the pros and
cons of each drug. In this essay, I will talk about if each of the different drugs are legal or illegal and I
will explain if I want to keep them legal or illegal.
LSD

Images from the study suggest a greater connectivity across the brain. There is evidence that the visual
hallucinations produced by the drug involve not only the visual cortex, but many other parts of the
brain. This lack of boundaries are highly segregated and may suggest a mechanism behind the altered
state of consciousness experienced by users and the ego dissolution , or loss of a sense of self,
described by many. (E., R. (201126) 426.)
As adults, our brains are more sophisticated and constrained. When an adult is on LSD, their brains
become more flexible and shows resemblances to the flexible brains of infants. What the article is
saying is that when someone decides to take LSD, their mind is similar to a baby. Their actions are
most likely to resemble a baby s actions such as drooling or going to the bathroom in their pants. LSD
makes an adult act childish and is very dangerous. That is why it is illegal. LSD should remain illegal
because adults shouldn t act like children. If an adult has a child and takes LSD, how are they
supposed to take care of their own child if they are acting like one themselves? They can t.

The Role Of Exchange Rate Policy Essay
Title: The Role of Exchange Rate Policy
Economists use models that illustrates the relationships between economic variables to understand real
world problems. Macroeconomics and international economics can be messy if we do not think
through a model. On the other hand, as stated by George Box, all models are wrong but some of them
are useful. As I understand, there are two important points in the question:
1) What forces determine the movements in the exchange rate?
2) What kind of exchange rate policy can help the U.S. to recover from the recession?
I first describe the forces behind the movements in the exchange rate through macroeconomic model.
I, then, use these models to suggest an exchange rate policy for the US economy that can help its
transition from the Great Recession.
Section title: Exchange Rate and Open Economy
Exchange rate is the price of a nation s currency in terms of another currency. Basically, it is the price
of some foreign currency in terms of a home currency. Economist define the long run as the period in
which prices are flexible, and the short run as the period in which prices are sticky. Therefore, the
forces behind the exchange rate movements should be examined both in the long run and short run.
Following a standard text book description, I start with the long run period.

Packaging is a process to eliminate the direct contact between product and environment. In every
small and big industry, it is necessary to seal and package the product for protecting from environment
and for better life of the product. In 19th century, industries were using candles for sealing. In last few
years, many sealing machines were developed. These machines are highly automated, which have
very high cost. So, these machines are not affordable by small scale industries. In small industries,
they are using impulse heat sealer machine. But, there are losses of plastic packaging material due to
manually press. To overcome these problems, we will design a machine, which is semi automatic and

Compression of air creates heat; hence, after compression, air is warmer. Expansion removes heat;
hence it is required to give heat after compression, because after expansion, the air will be much
colder. If the heat generated after compression can be stored in the storage tank and used during
expansion, the efficiency of the storage tank can be improved Solenoid Operated Direction Control

Direction Control Valve (DCV) allows the air flow to flow in different paths from different resources.
It contains a spool inside, which is electrically controlled by solenoid. Figure 4.6 5/2 Solenoid

Cleopatra
Cleopatra had a very extraordinary life. She was born into royalty and became a ruler at a very young
age due to her father s death. She was married four times, first to her two younger brothers, third to
Julius Caesar and fourth to Marc Antony. She had four children with both Julius Caesar and marc
Antony. Cleopatra also had 5 siblings. Later on, in life, Cleopatra committed suicide.
Cleopatra was born in 69 BC in Alexandria, Egypt (Cleopatra: The Woman Behind the Name.) Her
parents were Ptolemy Auletes (Cleopatra: The Woman Behind the Name) and Cleopatra V (

Cleopatra chose to go back to Egypt. On her way back to Egypt she made a stop in Cyprus which had
been granted to her younger sister Arsinoe and her younger brother and co ruler Ptolemy XIV, in order
to ensure that she was known as their true ruler. As Cleopatra arrived in Egypt she immediately took
steps to consolidate her rule. A document dated July 26 44 BC, Ptolemy XIV s name appeared, but
after that date he disappeared many say that Cleopatra ordered for him to be poisoned and it is notable
that around this time she dropped the epithet brother loving from her titles. Cleopatra confirmed her
son by Julius Caesar, Caesarion, co regent. Cleopatra also continued to build the Caesareum in honor
of Caesar. In Dendera, Caesarion was depicted in front of images of Cleopatra, asserting him as the
primary ruler (Ancient Egypt Online.) Cleopatra and Marc Antony spent the winter of 41 to 40 BC in
Alexandria. In the spring of 40 BC, Marc Antony left Cleopatra to return home. Marc Antony did not
see her for four years. Fulvia, Antony s ex wife had gotten into a movement against his wife Octavian
over veteran s allotments of land. In the meantime Cleopatra had given birth to twins, a boy and a girl.
Their twin children were officially recognized by Antony and were given names of Alexander Helios
and Cleopatra Selene. Marc Antony gave her much land which was very essential to Egypt. He gave
her Cyprus, the Cilician coast, Phoenicia, Coele Syria, and Judea and Arabia. In 34 BC, Antony had a
campaign into Armenia which had been successful and financially rewarding. Antony celebrated his
triumph with a parade. He presented himself as the New Dionysus. Ptolemy XV (Caesarion) was

Loyalty In William Faulkner s Barn Burning
Internal Conflict: Loyalty or Morals Loyalty is a powerful force. Oftentimes it blindsides us and
causes us to support things we would not normally. Even do things that we despise. William Faulkner
s Barn Burning illustrates just such a case. Presenting a young boy s progression from a loyal child, to
an independent man as a conflict of loyalty and morals. This boy, Sarty, battles his own forming
morals versus his father s decisions, which leads to his development from child to adult. Faulkner
writes his characters progression in five stages: blind loyalty, repressed disagreements, open
questioning, and attempted reasoning with his father, before finally taking action to contradict his
father. This first step in Sarty s change is shown at the very start of Barn Burning. His father, Abner
Snopes, is on trial accused of burning a barn. The trial is told from the perspective of Abner s son,
Sarty. As he observes the trial Sarty mentally calls the accuser his father s enemy (par. 1). Although
Sarty immediately corrects himself and reclassifies the accuser as both his and Snopes enemy, Sarty s
estrangement from his father s ideals first starts here. Because of his disgust with himself, I can only
assume that before Sarty has blindly followed his father. Consequently, Sarty still fights to maintain
this loyalty. As displayed when Sarty is asked to testify. Knowing that his father would want him to
lie, Sarty is filled with frantic grief and despair (par. 1). He mentally

The Failure Of Chartism In The United States
Chartism was a movement that emerged by the working class to achieve parliamentary democracy.
They wanted a voice through democratic participation, and they wanted social and economic reform.
The movement existed from 1838 1858 and they got their name from the People s Charter of 1838.
Chartism evolved for economic and political reasons, such as feeling betrayed by the middle class, and
the Whig government adopting policies that the working class viewed as a betrayal. The fall of
Chartism can be attributed to a divided in the groups interests, an improvement in economic
conditions, and the violence that developed during the movement. Their goals were commendable, but
their strategies were inadequate. Although the Chartists failed to reach their ... Show more content on

One of the reasons for their failure can be attributed to the divide in their methods and structure. Some
of the Chartists believed in peace and peaceful protesting, while others believed in violence and its
power to overcome the the rich and powerful that were running parliament. The movement began with
peaceful petitions and the first petition in July 1839, had over one million signatures on it. When
parliament rejected the petition 235 to 46 some of the Chartist members turned to violence. A man
named John Frost led approximately one thousand armed members in the Newport Rising. When
things turned violent many people were killed of injured, and supporters fled because they were in fear
of loosing jobs, or possibly even getting killed. William Lovett, who was one of the founders of the
movement, left the movement because of the violence that was now being demonstrated by the
Chartists. Economic interests were also improving in the 1840 s and because the economic conditions
were on the rise food and goods were not as expensive. Because of this people were slightly less
concerned about the economy leading to more loss of support for the Chartists. There were also
discrepancies on their third and final petition in 1848. They had lied about the amount of signatures on
the petition, and some of the names listed on the petition were said to be forged or listed more than
once. After that third petition the Chartists were mocked in the newspapers for the lies and forgeries.
Some people were not taking them serious anymore and again, they lost more support. Arguably, the
main causes of their fall was the violence, as well as the rise in economy that made the Chartists lose
steam. Even though they were not successful at that time, in later years some of the Chartist ideas
were incorporated into the Reform Acts of 1867 and

The Big Time College Sports
In this era of big time college sports, it seems the main focus of Division I athletics evolves around the
money that schools and conferences make through different deals. These deals typically involve
television rights for individual conferences with major television networks. Currently the NCAA has a
14 year, $11 billion TV deal with CBS and Turner Broadcasting for the NCAA basketball Tournament,
and this upcoming year ESPN will pay around $470 million to broadcast the new college football
playoffs. The majority of this money is streamed to a teams athletic departments via their respective

$205 million (the SEC Network that launched this past August should eventually launch the

individually conference. The first and most profitable one is the Big Ten.
Big Ten
The Big Ten is known as the conference where the money is. Year in and year out the Big Ten has the
highest revenues. This can be credited to the prospering Big Ten Network. The Big Ten the first major
conference with their own network, most major conferences have now established a conference
affiliated network. The conference s revenues are expected to grow annually, and 12 of 14 Big Ten
schools are expected to gain $44.5 million during the 2017 18 year, the first year of a new television
deal (the two schools that are not projecting these numbers are Maryland and Rutgers which just
officially joined the conference this past summer and can not receive their full share until 2020 21).
Along with their Big Ten network deal, the conference also has a 10 year TV rights deal with ESPN
worth close to $1 billion that will be expiring in 2016 2017. While negotiations have begun to renew

The Impact Of Modern Social Workers On The Community
Introduction Modern social workers participate actively in helping people to obtain rights, services,
benefits and opportunities that they might not otherwise obtain through micro policy advocacy, ?often
prioritize the needs of vulnerable populations when they engage in advocacy? (Jansson, 2016, p. 21).
Through community immersion, the social worker gains an understanding of the community attributes
and desiderata, requiring them to utilize their experience and expertise to advocate policies that will
satisfy the client?s needs (NASW, n.d.). Furthermore, when social workers immerse themselves in the
community, it becomes an act of care and concern to serve the community. Compelling them to
implement new changes, depict workable intervention schemes, and generate attainable treatment
plans to satisfy the needs of the individuals, families and community. The community that will be
addressed in this paper is National City. It is located five miles south of downtown San Diego and ten
miles away from the US Mexico border in Tijuana.
National City is divided into three sub communities based on their regional parks: Kimball, El Toyon
and Las Palmas (KTU+A, 2014). Because of National City?s unique location in close proximity to
downtown San Diego, it is considered an urban city, as defined by Jannson (2016), with a lot of
commercial activity and impoverishment. Depending on the social worker?s role, knowledge on the
type of community is crucial; when there is a deficit of

Many people feel a certain way when something terrible happens to them or a loved one, but should
they be held responsible? It just barely missed me, but in my place, it swallowed everything that

their actions in life or death situations because weather related disaster and accidents are
uncontrollable, people have experienced enough tragedy and rescue are very costly. Even though
many people are very careful with adventuring, accidents and weather related disasters still happen;
they re inevitable. Severe weather in the short story The Seventh Man notes the main character is in
the middle of an unexpected tsunami when it hits the beach where K. and the main character are

Today, however, it has become so much more. According to a research paper written by Martin
Lindstrom, Branding is all about building emotional ties between consumer and product. (pg. 85)
Emotional connections are made with the synergy of all five senses, and such those brands that are
communicating from a multi sensory brand platform have the greatest likelihood of forming emotional
connections between consumers and their product. (pg. 84); Food and Beverage companies exploit
this fact to sell their products. Consider the Kellogg s breakfast cereal that goes snap, crackle, and
pop: Rice Crispies. Researchers at a specialized Danish laboratories worked to create the particular
sound and feel of the crunch was identifiably Kellogg s. (pg. 85). The crunch, smell, and taste, of the
cereal is accompanied by the tactile feel in your mouth pairing all five senses into one bite. Without
the simultaneous stimulation of multiple sensory receptors, however, the cereal would not be as
memorable. Take watching a scary movie for example. Visuals paired with audio make for a very
scary movie, but if you turn the audio off, suddenly the movie isn t so scary anymore. What we have
learned from Kellogg s is that their success lies in mastering the synergy of all five senses. Food can
stimulate all five senses at the same time to bring back past memories. In Carlos Eire starts his book

possible that these abilities are immeasurable because they are intuitive and too subjective to be tested

Naphthalene And Salicylic Acid Lab Report
The purpose of this experiment is to separate a mixture of salicylic acid and naphthalene using
extraction, recrystallization and sublimation techniques. Extraction is the separation of compounds
from a mixture based on their relative solubilities in different solvents. Sublimation is the process of
separation by which a substance transitions from the solid phase into the gas phase, skipping the liquid
phase. Recrystallization involves dissolving a substance in an appropriate solvent then crystallizing it
as it cools (impurities remain in solution). The melting points of the substances were determined in
order to assess their purity and the percent recovery of pure naphthalene and salicylic acid were
calculated. According to the results, the melting point of pure naphthalene was between 86°C 89°C
range, whereas for pure salicylic acid was 167°C 170°C. Both determined melting points were higher
compared to the literature value of 80.26°C and 158.6°C for pure naphthalene and salicylic acid
respectively. Lastly, the percent recovery for pure naphthalene and salicylic acid were 17.7% and
71.2% accordingly. In this experiment were used three separation techniques: extraction, sublimation

Reflection On Francisco De Quevedo
Christopher Johnson s visit for our class on Francisco de Quevedo was a significant addition to our
ongoing discussion regarding the Baroque, as he was not only able to provide insights into our critical
reading of Quevedo s work as a scholar of the Baroque and translator of his poetry but also posed
questions and concerns that will undoubtedly continue to guide our thinking as we move from the
Baroque to the Neo Baroque. Starting from the premise of the Baroque as an aesthetic that demands
some kind of meta disciplinary work, I was particularly interested in Johnson s emphasis on the idea
of polarity. Although we had previously discussed the presence of a polarity of sorts in some of the
texts we have read, Johnson s attention to the term, emerging from Spitzer s essay, has prompted my
thinking towards not just the presence, but the development of this concept throughout. In Luis de
Góngora s Soledades, we see violent contrasts of the ascendant and the degrading vision. Sor Juana s
Primero sueño takes us on a voyage of the soul that escapes the body, and on a voyage of the internal
universe of the body that seems to facilitate the escaping of the soul. Quevedo s poetry showcases
both a skillfully mastery of the poetic structures and elements, yet conjugates this with often time very
un poetic topoi that emphasizes the scatological. I am eager to see how these polarities manifest
themselves in the neo baroque writings of Lezama Lima and Severo Sarduy, for example, but

Scout Monologue
Outgoing Like many others at my age, I am very active in my life. Whether it be with work, clubs or
other after school activities. We all do something with our time away from school. However, I
personally feel like my life is a bit busier than most others. To start off a normal day after school on a
monday is actually quite calm, until tuesday hits. After class ends I rush over to VAMF( Basically a
geek club at our school) for I happen to be the president of our club. Shortly after I rush home to
quickly eat food so I can go to my next destination, scouts. I happen to be the oldest scout there, not
only by age but by experience as well. Luckily I m no longer in charge of them and I get to sit back
and make sure they don t do anything stupid to hurt themselves. ... Show more content on

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Sabre
2.2.3 Competitors
2.2.3.1 Sabre
Sabre is US market leader and offers a wide range on airline IT products. Its strategy focuses on
acquisition and partnerships in order to release new solutions quickly. Furthermore, they are re
packaging their products to offer bundled booking tools for an attractive prices. Sabre has created a
positive reputation for its approach to innovation (with some justification) and this has helped to boost
its relative (to the market) share valuation.
The main strengths of sabre is their brand, US market position, large focus on traveller centric
solutions and a strong marketing strategy. Whereas their weaknesses is rather small global penetration,
IT outsourcing, lengthy legal issues with AA in the US, large debt since buyout and very US mind set.

gaining market share, mainly from Travelport, over the past 14 years, whereas Sabre has maintained

investments in R D, paying debt and better positioning in emerging markets. Source:

As the matter of fact in 2013 Amadeus invested €505 million in R D to research and develop
technologies for use in the travel sector. This represented 16.3% of Amadeus revenues. Furthermore,
Amadeus total R D investment between the years 2004 and 2013 was almost €3 billion, playing a

Persuasive Speech About Plastic Surgery
Why has society become so obsessed with being perfect? What s wrong with laugh lines near your
mouth, crow s feet by your eyes, and cellulite on your legs? Growing up in today s society puts a lot of
pressure on young men and women to look their best all of the time. People fear the changes that
naturally take place in the aging process and take drastic measures to alter their appearance. The
dangers of getting certain procedures such as botox and collagen injections, implants, and rhinoplasty
are extremely dangerous ways to hold on to a youthful look. The patients who get plastic surgery
claim that it makes them feel more confident and look much better, which helps boost their self
esteem. However, is it really worth the risks of complication ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Rhinoplasty, another name for a nose job, has been described as the most difficult of all facial plastic
surgical procedures. As with all surgical procedures there are risks and benefits. When deciding
whether to have the surgery, the patient along with their surgeon needs to weigh the benefits of
rhinoplasty versus the risks and complications. Usually the person who is getting the surgery only
thinks of the benefits the nose job will bring them, which is usually just a confidence booster. The
serious risks that people take when they get rhinoplasty are difficulty breathing, nose swelling and
discoloration, nasal septal perforation (a hole in the nasal septum), and probably the most important
risk the shallow patient is probably thinking: the unsatisfactory nasal appearance. In an episode of
Botched, a famous television show solely based off of plastic surgeries, a patient wanted her seventh
nose job. Terry Dubrow, one of the surgeons state, Going into a field that s been operated on already

death, and how great of a job I do the healing may be off (HollywoodLife). Just like Dubrow explains,
sometimes no matter how good of a job the surgeon does, the plastic surgery can heal wrong which
can lead to major complications. Why run the risk anyway when the

Milky Way Galaxy Research Paper
In our Milky Way galaxy, there are over a hundred billion stars, and within the universe there are
billions of galaxies (Classifying Stars). Astronomers have always come up with different techniques to
make their jobs easier. One important technique in, not only astronomy but science itself, is trying to
classify something into groups to find a certain pattern. Since there are so many stars in a single
galaxy, astronomers must find methods for organization. Stars are not all the same, they vary in size,
temperature, and brightness. To keep track of all these different characteristics, astronomers had to

Analysis Of Donald J. Trump
Donald J. Trump

November 17, 2016
Introduction
I chose to write about candidate Donald J. Trump because his idea of improving economics, creating
more job opportunities and diminishing the gap between classes is favored by a large number of
people in middle class and lower class, who are important forces during the election. Not believing in
the American Dream claimed by Obama any longer, these people want to see something solid and
practical which can actually improve their lives. Trump may be a good choice for they.
Message
With everything that Donald J. Trump has gone through in his past his main theme is that he was a
very successful business man on real property and other business interests worldwide, along with his
famous Trump Tower, casinos and hotels. To gain greater popularity, Trump joined TV show, judged
on beauty pageants and guest starred on TV dramas and movies. Overall, Little political experience
did he had in the past.
Image
Trump s image that comes to mind to most people at first is that he is a jerk, an old madman who
loves saying Reagan s make America great again . It seems that he can get annoyed very easily and
likes criticizing people. This characteristic is a two edged sword that it can be charming to those who
like him, but very undesirable to those who hate him. With zero experience on politics, Trump s
presidential nomination is considered a joke. In order to gain greater attention

Comparsion of the Thematic of Violence in Earlier and...
Compare and contrast the thematic of violence in earlier and later Heaney
Heaney s poetry grants sectarian killing in Northern Ireland a historical respectability which is not
usually granted in day to day journalism (Morrison, 68)
Seamus Heaney was born in Derry, Northern Ireland. Derry was a bitterly divided city that soon
became to the fore of the troubles . In the 1970 s Northern Ireland s sectarian divisions hit a new level
of extreme and t the troubles became violent and dangerous in the early 1970 s. With the change of
situation in the North there also came a change in Heaney s writing. His poems seemed to grow more
sociological and political as he delved into the troubled psychology of his homelands problems. In

Whereas others criticised Heaney for having an unbalanced view of the troubles. Readership was not
affected as we know by Heaney s sales and rewards but reviewers who might represent these
readerships have differed widely in their responses to what the Swedish Academy praised as Heaney s
analysis of the violence in Northern Ireland .
Seamus Deane in his works, observes that although political echoes are audible in Death of a
Naturalist and in Door into the Dark, there is no consciousness of politics as such, and certainly no
political consciousness until Wintering Out and North (Deane, 783). Wintering Out is divided in to
two sections and is the most poetically complexed of Heaney s works to date at that time. The book is
a vital publication to examine when referring to the theme of violence as it is in this issue we see the
emergence of a different style of poem. The title of the poem is even portraying that of a bleak and
dark mode. The title Wintering Out also alludes the reader to the famous opening line of Richard III,
Now is the winter of our discontent ... As we know Richard III is based on a corrupt state, with murder
and violence. Perhaps Heaney was leading the reader from the beginning to the dark political mode of
his new work as reference to a somewhat corrupt state which has been plagued by an unsolved murder
sets the pessimistic for a lot of the poems in Part One. (O Donoghue, 22)

Theme Of Disruption In Fahrenheit 451
I chose to create a disruption within Ray Bradbury s Fahrenheit 451. The female characters within this
novel are often depicted as mindless drones. They are typically seen doing nothing more than listening
to their seashells (what we would now think of as a bluetooth) or spend a majority of their time in
living room parlors (tv rooms). Some only exist to wake Montag, the main character, out of his
complacency. The manic pixie dream girl trope in the beginning of the novel is an example of this.
Clarisse unknowingly helps his character progress and is then hastily written out of the plot. I wanted
to bring these women back into the end of the story, but revive them as multifaceted and complex
characters with equally elaborate backstories. Another

have pursued fulltime work, but none have been able to obtain meaningful employment. Every time
one of them thinks they have a decent job, something happens and it doesn t work out for them. This
type of firsthand experience in the job market further deflates any illusions they might have had about
the openness of the opportunity structure (Macleod p. 164). In contrast, the Brothers as a group look

exclusively summer time affair, in fact only one member is on the job market full time (Macleod p.

Essay on Huntington’s Disease
Near the end of the short arm of chromosome four, there exists a gene which can cause an individual
to experience three completely different lives. If the gene is expressed normally, one will never know,
as it will not cause the person any harm. However, if the gene simply does not exist, the individual
will be born with Wolf Hirschorn Syndrome, a devastating illness which causes disfigured facial
features and mental retardation. (Ridley, 55) Victims of this syndrome rarely live past the age of
seven. The last and most interesting situation occurs when this gene becomes mutated. In this case, the
individual will suffer from Huntington s Chorea, a debilitating neurological disease which will not

Those afflicted with Huntington s Disease generally begin to exhibit problems with their control of
bodily movements, intellectual functioning and emotion(s) (Fact Sheet: Huntington s Disease). The
disease generally begins to affect the individual around the age of fifty, though it can occur much
earlier. The victim will usually suffer for ten to twenty five years before succumbing to complications
of the illness, generally heart failure or aspiration pneumonia (Fact Sheet: Huntington s Disease).
The area of the Huntington Gene which is known to mutate contains only one word each consisting of
three letters as Ridley explains (55). The repetition of the bases C A G throughout the gene can occur
anywhere from once to over one hundred times. The number of repetitions determines whether or not
an individual sees the effects of the disease and at what age the symptoms begin. The mutated form of
the gene arises when an excessive number of C A G repetitions occur. The average number of repeats
for a normal Huntington Gene is between ten and fifteen (Ridley, 55). A study presented by Dr.
Kathleen Shannon at the General Meeting of the Illinois Chapter of the Huntington s Disease Society
of America on March 7, 1997 concluded that there are specific numerical cut offs for having

Francisco Franco Essay
Francisco Franco was a general and authoritarian leader, who governed Spain from 1939 to 1975. He
came to power shortly after the start of the Spanish Civil War. In that war, he led the rebel Nationalist
Army to victory over the Loyalist forces. After the war ended in 1939, Franco held complete control
of Spain. His regime was similar to a Fascist dictatorship. He carried out the functions of chief of
state, prime minister, commander in chief, and leader of the Falange, the only permitted political party.
He adopted the title of El Caudillo, the leader. In the early years of his regime, he tried to eliminate all

the stability of Franco s authoritarian regime.
Franco kept Spain officially neutral during World War II, but after the
Axis defeat he was labeled the last of the Fascist dictators and ostracized by
the United Nations. As the Cold War gained in intensity, foreign opposition to
Franco lessened because he was against Communism. In 1953, the signing of a
military assistance pact with the United States marked the return of Spain to
international society. Franco permitted the United States to build air and naval
bases in Spain in exchange for economic and military aid. This aid helped bring
about industrial expansion. Spain s living standard rose thanks to Franco, but it
remained as one of the lowest in Western Europe.
Franco s regime became somewhat more liberal during the 1950s and
1960s. It depended for support not on the Falange, renamed the National Movement, but on a range of
political families running from those on the center right to extreme reactionaries. Franco balanced off
these groups against one another, retaining for himself a position as arbiter above the affairs of day to
day politics. Helped along by the general prosperity of Europe, Spain enjoyed rapid economic growth
in the 1960 s. However, in the early 1960 s, opposition to Franco became more outspoken. Miners and

Hester wears is very bold and elaborate; so much so that some towns people are offended by it, feeling
that a symbol of such a crime should not be shown as something beautiful and she should not be
showing pride in her mistakes as she does. This reminds me of myself in the sense that if ... Show

Ironically, this care is to come from Hester Prynne s husband, now named Roger Chillingworth. In the
scene, Hester is very hesitant to accept help from him, seeing as he as every reason to harbor horrible
resentment towards her and the small child. I believe that the setting of the prison plays an important
role in the feelings and thoughts of both Hester and Mr. Chillingworth. Due to the subjugation of
prison inmates, Hester included, such characters often develop distrust of those around them. It is no
surprise that with the heightened distrust that follows, that that distrust would go even further in
regards to the belief that Mr. Chillingworth would want to do harm to her and her daughter. Similar to
how the prison scene makes Hester feel unsafe, the power that the prison gives Chillingworth makes
him feel more authoritative and like he can say what he wants, hence when he tells her that he isn t
going to kill her simply so that the can make her suffer in her penalty. I also believe that having the
infant with her in the prison makes it even worse, having to look out not only for herself, but for the
baby, too. Plus, because she is in prison, no one would even know she was killed, they would probably
just brush it off as a

Positive And Negative Consequences Of Globalization
As millennials we could not fathom ourselves without Wi Fi nor without a cell phone in our pocket.
However, if it were not for globalization we would not possess any of the things that we have to this
day. Yet, what are the consequences of globalization and how do they affect different parties? One
must inquire about these concerns because it is necessary to understand both positions in order to be
aware of the positive and the negative stance that globalization takes. Also there should be awareness
in the policies that have arose based on globalization. Sachs, mentions that there is no singular remedy
that servers every country equally because different countries are presented with different factors in
their illnesses. However, everyone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although many wanted a small governing body Hamilton was right to use government planning to
help the economy of the United States to rise as it has until the day. Hamilton s approach was not a
complete interference by the government rather it was a push to help the small industries take off as
well as help those who were still dependent on agriculture.
Furthermore, one would think that America was set and this is how it became the world s example to
follow. However, times change and many more ideas had to flourish and different conflicts had to
arise, therefore different medications had to be administered to the economy in order to continue
flourishing. Hence, the idea of liberalization was imposed to allow the economy to expand. Through
government planning the United States gave free land during the Homestead Act as well as free
corporations that we privately owned and ran. This concept exactly sets strains on the economy itself.
This idea of free corporations led to problems quickly although one would never think such
corporations would grow and become a threat. Companies were given the green light to do as they
pleased in order to succeed and there was no way for the government to interfere if the company was
for example monopolizing a sector.
Soon after there was a call for once again a change in the government. The change came with

A Research Study On Data Mining
Data mining is the process of discovering patterns, trends, correlations from large amounts of data
stored electronically in repositories, using statistical methods, mathematical formulas, and pattern
recognition technologies (Sharma n.d.). The main idea is to analyze data from different perspectives
and discover useful trends, patterns and associations. As discussed in the previous chapter, the
healthcare organizations are producing massive amounts of electronic medical records, which are
impossible to process using traditional technologies (e.g., Microsoft excel). Therefore data mining is
becoming very popular in this field as it can be used to identify the presence of chronic disease, detect
the cause of the disease, analyze the effectiveness of treatment methods, predict different medical
events, identify the side effects of the drugs, and so on. Kidney diseases such as CKD or AKI require
immediate detection and medical attention based on the patient s clinical condition, medical history,
medication history and some demographical factors. From the literature survey, we discovered a good
number of studies and tools that used data mining methods such as clustering, association, and
classification to improve the decision making ability of the healthcare providers regarding kidney
disease. In the subsequence sections in this chapter, we present an overview of the data mining
methods and discuss how they have been used in existing literature. 4.1. Overview of data mining

Moby Dick Dualism
In Herman Melville s Moby Dick, Melville utilises the symbolism of the colour of the Great White
Whale to demonstrate his theme of duality. All the different character on the Pequod seem to be a
representation of the good and evil sides of humanity. Upon first reading, the novel seems to be a
simple but rather drawn out documentation of whaling; on closer inspection, however, shows how
Melville examines the terrifying realities of society. Melville discusses the use of the colour white and
its elusive nature, this is suggested by a weakening sense of spirituality within the borders of
civilisation, psychologically by Ahab s declining state of sanity and lastly physically by the whale s
flight. Moby Dick is a Great White Whale whom Ahab has

Recycling For A Green Economy
Recycling is a process where waste materials are transformed into new products to prevent waste of
potentially useful materials, reduce the consumption of fresh raw materials, reduce energy usage,
reduce air pollution (from incineration) and water pollution (from landfilling) by reducing the need for
conventional waste disposal, and lower greenhouse gas emissions as compared to plastic production.
Steel is the most important material in construction simply because it always contains recycled
content. It is completely recyclable at the end of its product life and may be recycled an unlimited
number of times without loss of quality. Steel is 100% recyclable, which means it can be reprocessed
into the same material of the same quality again and again. Also, it is easily recovered by magnetic
separation. Once steel is produced, its life cycle is potentially endless, making it a permanent resource
for society as long as it is recovered at the end of each product life cycle. Recycling is especially
important in a green economy because it conserves valuable resources and prevents useful materials
going to landfill sites as waste. There are two main sources of recycled steel, also called steel scrap:
excess material from steel production and downstream manufacturing (pre consumer scrap), and steel
at the end of a product s life (post consumer scrap). All types of steel can be recycled, including food
tins, bottle tops, paint cans, aerosols, scrap metal and even structural steel

The Word Ecstasy
When one thinks back to a happy moments of their life, he or she is overcome with a feeling as if they
are going to burst. What he felt was ecstasy. Over time, the word ecstasy has been modified, which
can be seen through its etymology. Throughout this paper, ecstasy will be defined, explained, and
compared to the words that we commonly use today. It will clarify the word by exploring its many
meanings throughout history. I have chosen this word because I want to write about a word that
displays happiness. I originally chose the word bliss, but I wanted a word that showed more intense
emotion. Ecstasy, an overwhelming feeling of great happiness or joyful excitement. The word ecstasy
has been around for quite awhile and has changed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In certain situations, one may feel ecstasy after achieving something or receiving an A in Ms. Carteaux
s English class, but it feels so amazing that one would want to tell the world to its entirety.
Nevertheless ecstasy is something that people should experience more often. Being joyful is proven to
enlighten other people s mood which is a ripple effect in the pool of water we call life. Feeling more
happiness, to its greatest extent such as ecstasy, has the possibility of opening the flood gates of people
who are more happy. Therefore more people would have those moments in life when they want to
burst, when they feel

Why Jefferson Davis Won The Civil War
On April 2nd, Jefferson Davis, Southern President , fled his home and the Confederate capitol,
Richmond, Virginia after burning important documents. The fire spread accidentally from the
documents to the town, destroying many blocks of the city (See map on right). Davis had a train
scheduled to leave at 8:30 pm, but it didn t leave until 11:00 pm. He went to Danville, Virginia where
he is expected to be hiding out.
Davis got warned by Robert E. Lee that the Union army was coming to Richmond. The telegram said
I advise that all preparation be made for leaving Richmond tonight . Davis previously sent his family
away to safety, showing he might have assumed this would happen. However, he didn t plan for the
fire of the documents to spread to the town.
With Richmond burning, the Confederate leader in hiding, and the main Southern general failing in
many of the past battles, the South is in pieces, and it is no surprise the Union won this war. Southern
leaders, including Davis will most likely be charged with treason but what will be done with Southern
supporters is unknown at this point. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was president of the Confederacy for four years out of his six year term. His first major command
as president was to bomb Fort Sumter when he saw Union ships coming to supply the fort. This is
recognized as the start of the war, so the Civil War was started by Jefferson Davis. When General
Robert E. Lee surrendered to General Ulysses S. Grant, Davis disagreed. He wanted the war to go on
long enough for the Union to get tired of it. We would not want to pay for it any longer, not want any
more casualties and eventually surrender. Surprisingly, it was his own star general who

The Importance Of Diversity In Language Learning
Our understanding of language, as languages educators becomes part of our professional stance and,
as such, influences our curriculum, planning and classroom pedagogies. Teachers who view language
simply as code make acquiring grammar and vocabulary the primary, if not the only, goal of language
learning. Within such a limited approach, students do not begin to engage with language as a
communicative reality but simply as an intellectual exercise or as a work requiring memorising. It is
primarily a conventional symbol system concerned with communication or coorperation between
people (Lyons, 1981) Individual and social (Gee Hayes, 2011) people talk like others and yet all have
their own style (Bakhtin, 1981, 1986). Every language shares the same basic design properties nouns,
verbs, sentences, and clauses (Chomsky, 1965).
Language is not just a set of rules that tells us how to talk with the correct grammar. A cognitive
phenomenon a set of rules in our minds or brains that tells us how to speak grammatically (Clark,
1996) and Cannot be thought of as only a system of formal elements; have to take into account its
functions (Brumfit, 1994)
Variety is the spice of life . Diversity makes life interesting and gives it all its flavour. This phrase
comes from William Cowper s poem, The Task (1785). I believe in this saying as it is totally true and
as a current Early Childhood Educator, I am embedding awareness and appreciation for different
culture in my daily

  • 2. Hallucinogens Pros And Cons I am going to be talking about the different drugs that make a human hallucinate. I will describe what the drugs are, what they do to the human brain, and what they can do to the human body. Hallucinogens are drugs that cause false sensory messages and alter the perception of reality. Some of the most popular hallucinogens are LSD, PCP, and MDMA. I will also be talking about the pros and cons of each drug. In this essay, I will talk about if each of the different drugs are legal or illegal and I will explain if I want to keep them legal or illegal. (E., R. (201126) 426.) As adults, our brains are more sophisticated and constrained. When an adult is on LSD, their brains become more flexible and shows resemblances to the flexible brains of infants. What the article is saying is that when someone decides to take LSD, their mind is similar to a baby. Their actions are most likely to resemble a baby s actions such as drooling or going to the bathroom in their pants. LSD makes an adult act childish and is very dangerous. That is why it is illegal. • 3. The Role Of Exchange Rate Policy Essay Title: The Role of Exchange Rate Policy Economists use models that illustrates the relationships between economic variables to understand real world problems. Macroeconomics and international economics can be messy if we do not think through a model. On the other hand, as stated by George Box, all models are wrong but some of them are useful. As I understand, there are two important points in the question: 1) What forces determine the movements in the exchange rate? 2) What kind of exchange rate policy can help the U.S. to recover from the recession? I first describe the forces behind the movements in the exchange rate through macroeconomic model. I, then, use these models to suggest an exchange rate policy for the US economy that can help its transition from the Great Recession. Section title: Exchange Rate and Open Economy Exchange rate is the price of a nation s currency in terms of another currency. Basically, it is the price of some foreign currency in terms of a home currency. Economist define the long run as the period in which prices are flexible, and the short run as the period in which prices are sticky. Therefore, the forces behind the exchange rate movements should be examined both in the long run and short run. Following a standard text book description, I start with the long run period. Section title: Exchange rate in the long run Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) Theorem to Determine Exchange Rates Purchasing power parity theorem argues that since the law of one ... In every small and big industry, it is necessary to seal and package the product for protecting from environment and for better life of the product. In 19th century, industries were using candles for sealing. In last few years, many sealing machines were developed. These machines are highly automated, which have very high cost. So, these machines are not affordable by small scale industries. In small industries, they are using impulse heat sealer machine. • 7. Loyalty In William Faulkner s Barn Burning Internal Conflict: Loyalty or Morals Loyalty is a powerful force. Oftentimes it blindsides us and causes us to support things we would not normally. Even do things that we despise. William Faulkner s Barn Burning illustrates just such a case. Presenting a young boy s progression from a loyal child, to an independent man as a conflict of loyalty and morals. This boy, Sarty, battles his own forming morals versus his father s decisions, which leads to his development from child to adult. Faulkner writes his characters progression in five stages: blind loyalty, repressed disagreements, open questioning, and attempted reasoning with his father, before finally taking action to contradict his father. This first step in Sarty s change is shown at the very start of Barn Burning. His father, Abner Snopes, is on trial accused of burning a barn. The trial is told from the perspective of Abner s son, Sarty. As he observes the trial Sarty mentally calls the accuser his father s enemy (par. 1). Although Sarty immediately corrects himself and reclassifies the accuser as both his and Snopes enemy, Sarty s estrangement from his father s ideals first starts here. Because of his disgust with himself, I can only assume that before Sarty has blindly followed his father. Consequently, Sarty still fights to maintain this loyalty. As displayed when Sarty is asked to testify. Knowing that his father would want him to lie, Sarty is filled with frantic grief and despair (par. 1). He mentally ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Failure Of Chartism In The United States Chartism was a movement that emerged by the working class to achieve parliamentary democracy. They wanted a voice through democratic participation, and they wanted social and economic reform. The movement existed from 1838 1858 and they got their name from the People s Charter of 1838. Chartism evolved for economic and political reasons, such as feeling betrayed by the middle class, and the Whig government adopting policies that the working class viewed as a betrayal. The fall of Chartism can be attributed to a divided in the groups interests, an improvement in economic conditions, and the violence that developed during the movement. One of the reasons for their failure can be attributed to the divide in their methods and structure. Some of the Chartists believed in peace and peaceful protesting, while others believed in violence and its power to overcome the the rich and powerful that were running parliament. The movement began with peaceful petitions and the first petition in July 1839, had over one million signatures on it. When parliament rejected the petition 235 to 46 some of the Chartist members turned to violence. A man named John Frost led approximately one thousand armed members in the Newport Rising. When things turned violent many people were killed of injured, and supporters fled because they were in fear of loosing jobs, or possibly even getting killed. William Lovett, who was one of the founders of the movement, left the movement because of the violence that was now being demonstrated by the Chartists. Economic interests were also improving in the 1840 s and because the economic conditions were on the rise food and goods were not as expensive. Because of this people were slightly less concerned about the economy leading to more loss of support for the Chartists. There were also discrepancies on their third and final petition in 1848. They had lied about the amount of signatures on the petition, and some of the names listed on the petition were said to be forged or listed more than once. After that third petition the Chartists were mocked in the newspapers for the lies and forgeries. Some people were not taking them serious anymore and again, they lost more support. Arguably, the main causes of their fall was the violence, as well as the rise in economy that made the Chartists lose steam. Through community immersion, the social worker gains an understanding of the community attributes and desiderata, requiring them to utilize their experience and expertise to advocate policies that will satisfy the client?s needs (NASW, n.d.). Furthermore, when social workers immerse themselves in the community, it becomes an act of care and concern to serve the community. National City is divided into three sub communities based on their regional parks: Kimball, El Toyon and Las Palmas (KTU+A, 2014). Naphthalene And Salicylic Acid Lab Report The purpose of this experiment is to separate a mixture of salicylic acid and naphthalene using extraction, recrystallization and sublimation techniques. Extraction is the separation of compounds from a mixture based on their relative solubilities in different solvents. Sublimation is the process of separation by which a substance transitions from the solid phase into the gas phase, skipping the liquid phase. Recrystallization involves dissolving a substance in an appropriate solvent then crystallizing it as it cools (impurities remain in solution). The melting points of the substances were determined in order to assess their purity and the percent recovery of pure naphthalene and salicylic acid were calculated. According to the results, the melting point of pure naphthalene was between 86°C 89°C range, whereas for pure salicylic acid was 167°C 170°C. Both determined melting points were higher compared to the literature value of 80.26°C and 158.6°C for pure naphthalene and salicylic acid respectively. Lastly, the percent recovery for pure naphthalene and salicylic acid were 17.7% and 71.2% accordingly. • 21. Reflection On Francisco De Quevedo Christopher Johnson s visit for our class on Francisco de Quevedo was a significant addition to our ongoing discussion regarding the Baroque, as he was not only able to provide insights into our critical reading of Quevedo s work as a scholar of the Baroque and translator of his poetry but also posed questions and concerns that will undoubtedly continue to guide our thinking as we move from the Baroque to the Neo Baroque. Starting from the premise of the Baroque as an aesthetic that demands some kind of meta disciplinary work, I was particularly interested in Johnson s emphasis on the idea of polarity. Although we had previously discussed the presence of a polarity of sorts in some of the texts we have read, Johnson s attention to the term, emerging from Spitzer s essay, has prompted my thinking towards not just the presence, but the development of this concept throughout. In Luis de Góngora s Soledades, we see violent contrasts of the ascendant and the degrading vision. Sor Juana s Primero sueño takes us on a voyage of the soul that escapes the body, and on a voyage of the internal universe of the body that seems to facilitate the escaping of the soul. Quevedo s poetry showcases both a skillfully mastery of the poetic structures and elements, yet conjugates this with often time very un poetic topoi that emphasizes the scatological. I am eager to see how these polarities manifest themselves in the neo baroque writings of Lezama Lima and Severo Sarduy, for example, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What s wrong with laugh lines near your mouth, crow s feet by your eyes, and cellulite on your legs? Growing up in today s society puts a lot of pressure on young men and women to look their best all of the time. People fear the changes that naturally take place in the aging process and take drastic measures to alter their appearance. The dangers of getting certain procedures such as botox and collagen injections, implants, and rhinoplasty are extremely dangerous ways to hold on to a youthful look. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rhinoplasty, another name for a nose job, has been described as the most difficult of all facial plastic surgical procedures. As with all surgical procedures there are risks and benefits. When deciding whether to have the surgery, the patient along with their surgeon needs to weigh the benefits of rhinoplasty versus the risks and complications. Usually the person who is getting the surgery only thinks of the benefits the nose job will bring them, which is usually just a confidence booster. The serious risks that people take when they get rhinoplasty are difficulty breathing, nose swelling and discoloration, nasal septal perforation (a hole in the nasal septum), and probably the most important risk the shallow patient is probably thinking: the unsatisfactory nasal appearance. In an episode of Botched, a famous television show solely based off of plastic surgeries, a patient wanted her seventh nose job. This reminds me of myself in the sense that if ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ironically, this care is to come from Hester Prynne s husband, now named Roger Chillingworth. In the scene, Hester is very hesitant to accept help from him, seeing as he as every reason to harbor horrible resentment towards her and the small child. I believe that the setting of the prison plays an important role in the feelings and thoughts of both Hester and Mr. Chillingworth. Due to the subjugation of prison inmates, Hester included, such characters often develop distrust of those around them. It is no surprise that with the heightened distrust that follows, that that distrust would go even further in regards to the belief that Mr. Chillingworth would want to do harm to her and her daughter. Similar to how the prison scene makes Hester feel unsafe, the power that the prison gives Chillingworth makes him feel more authoritative and like he can say what he wants, hence when he tells her that he isn t going to kill her simply so that the can make her suffer in her penalty. I also believe that having the infant with her in the prison makes it even worse, having to look out not only for herself, but for the baby, too. Plus, because she is in prison, no one would even know she was killed, they would probably just brush it off as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Positive And Negative Consequences Of Globalization As millennials we could not fathom ourselves without Wi Fi nor without a cell phone in our pocket. However, if it were not for globalization we would not possess any of the things that we have to this day. Yet, what are the consequences of globalization and how do they affect different parties? One must inquire about these concerns because it is necessary to understand both positions in order to be aware of the positive and the negative stance that globalization takes. Also there should be awareness in the policies that have arose based on globalization. Sachs, mentions that there is no singular remedy that servers every country equally because different countries are presented with different factors in their illnesses. However, everyone ... Although many wanted a small governing body Hamilton was right to use government planning to help the economy of the United States to rise as it has until the day. Hamilton s approach was not a complete interference by the government rather it was a push to help the small industries take off as well as help those who were still dependent on agriculture. Furthermore, one would think that America was set and this is how it became the world s example to follow. However, times change and many more ideas had to flourish and different conflicts had to arise, therefore different medications had to be administered to the economy in order to continue flourishing. Hence, the idea of liberalization was imposed to allow the economy to expand. Through government planning the United States gave free land during the Homestead Act as well as free corporations that we privately owned and ran. This concept exactly sets strains on the economy itself. This idea of free corporations led to problems quickly although one would never think such corporations would grow and become a threat. Companies were given the green light to do as they pleased in order to succeed and there was no way for the government to interfere if the company was for example monopolizing a sector. Soon after there was a call for once again a change in the government. The change came with President ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. A Research Study On Data Mining Data mining is the process of discovering patterns, trends, correlations from large amounts of data stored electronically in repositories, using statistical methods, mathematical formulas, and pattern recognition technologies (Sharma n.d.). The main idea is to analyze data from different perspectives and discover useful trends, patterns and associations. As discussed in the previous chapter, the healthcare organizations are producing massive amounts of electronic medical records, which are impossible to process using traditional technologies (e.g., Microsoft excel). Therefore data mining is becoming very popular in this field as it can be used to identify the presence of chronic disease, detect the cause of the disease, analyze the effectiveness of treatment methods, predict different medical events, identify the side effects of the drugs, and so on. Kidney diseases such as CKD or AKI require immediate detection and medical attention based on the patient s clinical condition, medical history, medication history and some demographical factors. From the literature survey, we discovered a good number of studies and tools that used data mining methods such as clustering, association, and classification to improve the decision making ability of the healthcare providers regarding kidney disease. In the subsequence sections in this chapter, we present an overview of the data mining methods and discuss how they have been used in existing literature. 4.1. Overview of data mining ... • 44. Moby Dick Dualism In Herman Melville s Moby Dick, Melville utilises the symbolism of the colour of the Great White Whale to demonstrate his theme of duality. All the different character on the Pequod seem to be a representation of the good and evil sides of humanity. Upon first reading, the novel seems to be a simple but rather drawn out documentation of whaling; on closer inspection, however, shows how Melville examines the terrifying realities of society. Melville discusses the use of the colour white and its elusive nature, this is suggested by a weakening sense of spirituality within the borders of civilisation, psychologically by Ahab s declining state of sanity and lastly physically by the whale s flight. Moby Dick is a Great White Whale whom Ahab has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Recycling For A Green Economy Recycling is a process where waste materials are transformed into new products to prevent waste of potentially useful materials, reduce the consumption of fresh raw materials, reduce energy usage, reduce air pollution (from incineration) and water pollution (from landfilling) by reducing the need for conventional waste disposal, and lower greenhouse gas emissions as compared to plastic production. Steel is the most important material in construction simply because it always contains recycled content. It is completely recyclable at the end of its product life and may be recycled an unlimited number of times without loss of quality. Steel is 100% recyclable, which means it can be reprocessed into the same material of the same quality again and again. Also, it is easily recovered by magnetic separation. Once steel is produced, its life cycle is potentially endless, making it a permanent resource for society as long as it is recovered at the end of each product life cycle. Recycling is especially important in a green economy because it conserves valuable resources and prevents useful materials going to landfill sites as waste. There are two main sources of recycled steel, also called steel scrap: excess material from steel production and downstream manufacturing (pre consumer scrap), and steel at the end of a product s life (post consumer scrap). All types of steel can be recycled, including food tins, bottle tops, paint cans, aerosols, scrap metal and even structural steel ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. The Word Ecstasy When one thinks back to a happy moments of their life, he or she is overcome with a feeling as if they are going to burst. What he felt was ecstasy. Over time, the word ecstasy has been modified, which can be seen through its etymology. Throughout this paper, ecstasy will be defined, explained, and compared to the words that we commonly use today. It will clarify the word by exploring its many meanings throughout history. I have chosen this word because I want to write about a word that displays happiness. I originally chose the word bliss, but I wanted a word that showed more intense emotion. Ecstasy, an overwhelming feeling of great happiness or joyful excitement. The word ecstasy has been around for quite awhile and has changed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nevertheless ecstasy is something that people should experience more often. Being joyful is proven to enlighten other people s mood which is a ripple effect in the pool of water we call life. Feeling more happiness, to its greatest extent such as ecstasy, has the possibility of opening the flood gates of people who are more happy. • 47. Why Jefferson Davis Won The Civil War On April 2nd, Jefferson Davis, Southern President , fled his home and the Confederate capitol, Richmond, Virginia after burning important documents. The fire spread accidentally from the documents to the town, destroying many blocks of the city (See map on right). Davis had a train scheduled to leave at 8:30 pm, but it didn t leave until 11:00 pm. He went to Danville, Virginia where he is expected to be hiding out. Davis got warned by Robert E. Lee that the Union army was coming to Richmond. The telegram said I advise that all preparation be made for leaving Richmond tonight . Davis previously sent his family away to safety, showing he might have assumed this would happen. However, he didn t plan for the fire of the documents to spread to the town. With Richmond burning, the Confederate leader in hiding, and the main Southern general failing in many of the past battles, the South is in pieces, and it is no surprise the Union won this war. Southern leaders, including Davis will most likely be charged with treason but what will be done with Southern supporters is unknown at this point. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 48. The Importance Of Diversity In Language Learning Our understanding of language, as languages educators becomes part of our professional stance and, as such, influences our curriculum, planning and classroom pedagogies. Teachers who view language simply as code make acquiring grammar and vocabulary the primary, if not the only, goal of language learning. Within such a limited approach, students do not begin to engage with language as a communicative reality but simply as an intellectual exercise or as a work requiring memorising. It is primarily a conventional symbol system concerned with communication or coorperation between people (Lyons, 1981) Individual and social (Gee Hayes, 2011) people talk like others and yet all have their own style (Bakhtin, 1981, 1986). Every language shares the same basic design properties nouns, verbs, sentences, and clauses (Chomsky, 1965). Language is not just a set of rules that tells us how to talk with the correct grammar. A cognitive phenomenon a set of rules in our minds or brains that tells us how to speak grammatically (Clark, 1996) and Cannot be thought of as only a system of formal elements; have to take into account its functions (Brumfit, 1994) Variety is the spice of life . Diversity makes life interesting and gives it all its flavour. This phrase comes from William Cowper s poem, The Task (1785). I believe in this saying as it is totally true and as a current Early Childhood Educator, I am embedding awareness and appreciation for different culture in my daily ...
