Specific Heat In A Car

Found in the painting
Specific heat is found in the painting because the sun is heating everything up but the water is much
cooler than the dirt because it has a higher specific heat.
Connection to friction
Specific heat connects to friction through the specific heat capacity of brake pads in a vehicle. Firstly,
brake pads are a key component to your car because it is what allows you to stop. When you stomp
down on the brake pedal, the brake pads applies pressure and friction to the cars brake rotors which
eventually slows it down to a stop. Because of the speed and the weight of the vehicle, the brake pads

Water has a different specific heat than copper which has a different specific heat than gold. The
reasoning behind this is the same reason why different substances have different melting and boiling
points. Water for example has a very high specific heat needing 4.186 joule/gram °c to raise 1 gram by
1 °c. Why does water have such a high specific heat? Well, when something heats up, the particles
vibrate and the more hot the object gets the faster they move. Waters molecules are not easily movable
because of its molecular structure. Water molecules have a strong bond to each other because of the
polarity of the molecule. One side is very positive and the other very negative. It is difficult to move
or break these bonds because the positive is attracted to the negative. So what does that have to do
with specific heat? The answer is that water has such a high specific heat because it is a polar liquid.
hypothetically if water was not so polar it would have a lower specific heat because the bonds would
not be so attracted to each

Platos Republic Essay
Plato s Republic
Critics of The Republic, Plato s contribution to the history of political theory, have formed two distinct
opinions on the reasoning behind the work. The first group believes that The Republic is truly a model
for a political society, while the other strongly objects to that, stating it as being far too fantastic for
any society to operate successfully by these suggested methods. In an exchange between Crito and
Dionysius, this argument is first introduced, with Crito siding with those who agree that The Republic
is a realistic political model, and Dionysius arguing on behalf of those who doubt it as being realistic,
claiming it to be a criticism of politics in general. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In his fifth chapter, entitled The Problem Stated, Plato introduces what he believes to be wrong with
the current system of politics (Plato 41).
He starts by describing the Social Contract theory (Plato 53), the method used during his time, a
method Plato rejected. It says:
all the customary rules of religion and moral conduct imposed on the individual by social sanctions
have their origin in human intelligence and will and always rest on tacit consent. They are neither laws
of nature nor divine enactments, but conventions which man who made them can alter, as laws are
changed or repealed by legislative bodies.
It is assumed that, if all these artificial restraints were removed, the natural man would be left only
with purely egotistic instincts and desires, which he would indulge in all that Thrasymachus
commended as injustice (Plato 41 42).
In response to this description, Plato wrote,
First, I will state what is commonly held about the nature of justice and its origin; secondly, I shall
maintain that it is always practiced with reluctance, not as good in itself, but as a thing one cannot do
without; and thirdly, that this reluctance is reasonable, because the life of injustice is much the better
life of the two so people say. That is not what I

Wasps Narrative
On the Fourth of July of last year, I woke up that morning ready to take my siblings to a creek where
we could enjoy the beautiful day before the night, thinking that nothing could go wrong. We all
prepared our things, making sure that we had everything we needed, as far as swimsuits, floating
devices, and most importantly food and drinks. On our trip, things took a worst when I shattered my
heel because of wasps.
I drove my mother s car because it was large enough to fit my family in. With all of our belongings,
we needed a lot of space and my car would not have done the job. The car ride there took about an
hour long, so we listened to a variety of music and played the ABC game. Whenever we arrived at the
creek, we immediately jumped in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Spending the hour in a bumpy car ride was not pleasurable, in fact, I really wanted to hurt the driver
after it was all over with. I knew it was nobody s fault but my own, but I was so angry that it even
happened. We arrived at the hospital back in town when I was taken to a room and the nurses took x
rays and plunged me with a lot of things to help take the pain away. After it was all said and done, we
had an interesting day at the creek, I walked out of there with a fully shattered heel, and I enjoyed the
rest of the night watching fireworks and sitting around with family. To this day, I will still run away

Part 1: Graphical Representation
Part 2: Summary of argument
In the article Fossil Fuels Improve the Planet (Epstein, 2013), Alex Epstein s main claim was that
fossil fuels should be used without restriction as they provide reliable and affordable energy that
improves the lives of mankind. Aiming to convince the reader fossil fuels should be freely used, he
first argued that the energy provided by fossil fuels is vital to the health and well being of mankind.
He supported this by stating that processes such as purifying water, mass production of medicine and

sources of energy to fossil fuels are not as effective. The argument uses inductive reasoning as Epstein
focuses on 2 alternative sources of energy and attempts to convince the reader of his argument based
on their observed limitations. The premises offered are that renewable energy such as solar and wind
is unreliable, not cost effective and also unable to be mass produced. He is able to support this with his
claim that even after years of investments from many countries renewable energy only accounts for
less than 0.5% of the planets energy. He also supports this by quoting examples of some richer
countries that have been unsuccessful in making renewable energies usable on a larger scale even after
spending large sums of money, resulting in rising youth unemployment rates as high as 50% in Spain

The Anatomy Of Corporate Fraud Essay
Article Critique #1 The first article researched was The Anatomy of Corporate Fraud: A comparative
Analysis of High Profile American and European Corporate Scandals. The abstract discusses the
analysis conducted on the three major American accounting scandals; Enron, WorldCom, and
HealthSouth, and compares to the three major European accounting scandals; Parmalat, Royal Ahold,
and Vivendi Universal. Bahram Soltani (2014), also discusses within the abstract the different areas
reviewed regarding why the accounting scandals occurred; ethical climate, tone at the top, bubble
economy and market control, fraudulent financial reporting, accountability, control, auditing,
governance, and management compensation (p. 251). Between 2001 and 2003 there were several
corporate accounting scandals that occurred that took the world by surprise. A lot of investors lost a lot
of money and several employees lost their jobs. These accounting scandals occurred due to
management misconduct, fraud, and scams that occurred within these companies. Within the United
States, the big cases typically viewed are the Enron, WorldCom, and HealthSouth cases, however, it is
forgotten that Europe experienced a similar situation with Parmalat, Royal Ahold, and Vivendi
Universal. Soltani (2014), discusses the importance of understanding the motivation and causes of
financial corporate scandals. Soltani (2014) notes three research questions associated with this article:

Elizabeth Bennet Confidante
The protagonist of Jane Austen s Pride and Prejudice, Elizabeth Bennet, shares her personal thoughts,
feelings, and impressions with her elder sister Jane Bennet. Through confiding in Jane, Elizabeth
shares more. She allows Jane to share her pleasure and distress. As Elizabeth s confidante, Jane
influences the plot, theme, and message that Jane Austen conveys in the novel.
Jane is a natural confidante for Elizabeth. She is a relative and therefore more inclined to be
understanding of Elizabeth s disposition and, often, her needs, views, and desires. Jane is also more
readily available when Elizabeth is searching for a place to confide. Being involved in many of the

Elizabeth expresses her love of Jane by explaining that she only wants to think her perfect (Austen
116).
The mutual trust between the women creates an environment that encourages openness with one
another and the ease of revealing information to each other. It is because of the pivotal aspect of trust
that Elizabeth is able to confide in her sister. This is proven when she related to Jane the next day what
had passed between Mr. Wickham and herself even though she kept the exchange secret from
everyone else and Jane listened with astonishment and concern (Austen 73).
Elizabeth s trust in Jane is strengthened by the weakening of trust in her dear friend Charlotte Lucas.
Elizabeth is, naturally, shocked when she hears that Charlotte is engaged to be married to Mr. Collins
mere days after Elizabeth herself had refused his hand in marriage. In as short a time as Mr. Collins s
speeches would allow, everything was settled between them to the satisfaction of both (Austen 106).
Jane s role as confidante is strengthened by this sudden marriage arrangement because Elizabeth s
disappointment in Charlotte made her turn with fonder regard to her sister, of whose rectitude and
delicacy she was sure her opinion could never be shaken (Austen

humans has changed over time because the wolves came close to humans. A very long time ago the
dogs we know today haven t always been dogs , they were all once wolves years ago. Wolves are
much different today than the wolves back then. Over 30,000 years ago, sheets of ice covered the
earth, There were no towns, no cities, and no countries. Daily life was a struggle for all of our early
ancestors, it was pretty much survival for the fittest. They all had to hunt for their own food, build

Pestle Analysis of Barclays Plc
PESTEL ANALYSIS OF BARCLAYS PLC
PESTLE analysis is very useful for studying the environment in which a company operates and
accessing external factors influencing the company in the markets it operates. PESTLE is the acronym
for the following categories of investigation: political, economic, sociological, technological, legal and
environmental (Cheverton, 2004; Partridge and Sinclair Hunt, 2006).
Discussing the political factors influencing operation of the banks in the national, local and regional
levels and legislation, it should be mentioned that banks have always been to a certain degree
regulated by the government (Benston, 2000). For example, government determines the fraction of
reserves that a commercial bank should keep with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It may be concluded that the higher the GDP indices are, the greater amounts of money come through
banking system, and the more favourable position Barclays plc would have in a given country.
However, it cannot be stated for sure that South Africa provides better conditions for Barclay s
operation. The economy of the USA proves to be the largest and most of the bank s transactions are
carried out in the UK.
Interest rates in the discussed countries appear to look the following way:

Figure 8: United States Interest Rate

Comparing interest rates in the UK and US, it can be stated that the US Federal Reserve conducts a
zero rate policy. However, it does not imply that loans made in the US are free of charge for
businesses.

On the contrary, interest rate in South Africa is rather high. It is not even close to zero level, but
constitutes more than 7%. However, the tendency of fall from the period of summer 2008 may be
observed. At the same time it does not mean that loans will be easier to obtain and that they will be
available.
Speaking about banking industry, the set of socio cultural, technological and ecological factors will
not be excessively significant. Indeed, operating in the global scale, Barclays

Summary Of Presidential Power By Richard Neustadt
In the excerpt Presidential Power, Richard Neustadt argues that ability to persuade, lead, and bargain
is the sources of presidential power. He wrote, His strength or weakness, then, turns on his personal
capacity to influence the conduct of men who make up the government. His influence becomes the
mark of his leadership... Presidential ...means nothing but the president. Power means his influence.
The president s ability to lead people means that people give him/her power. Neustadt recognizes how,
in form, all presidents are leaders, nowadays, explaining how many other people or entities seek
guidance and leadership, and that the president, as the Great Initiator is the most suited person to
deliver it. Yet, Neustadt argues that this

The Murder Of The United Colonies Of America
Hello. I am supposed to be dead, I am not and I have no idea why. I woke up in a hotel room without
any memory. Then I looked at a television and almost had a heart attack. I was wanted for murder. The
murder of the President of the United Colonies of America(UCA. That also includes The United
States). He was giving a speech and was shot by a sniper. Me.
Apparently, when they saw where the bullet came from, they rushed to check it out and they saw an
M24 on the ground. It had three bullets missing and my fingerprints all over it. They said it could only
be a trained hitman or a UCA Marine. They say I was both.
I can t remember anything, not even my name. But I have two memories. One was being thrown from
an F2 tornado. It threw me about a mile. I was lucky that I landed on my right arm. I m left handed. I
had been taken to the hospital and they had me drink a serum that healed my bone completely. The
other was that I have a twin. We re both boys. You have no idea how many times we ve impersonated
each other.
Okay. Now back to the present. I sat up and walked around. I was on a hotel room bed. There was a
desk on the right of the bed. On the desk was a laptop. It was a X3S90. The X3S90 laptop is made to
look like a briefcase. There was a laptop bag next to the desk(I don t know why). There is also a black
backpack. I assumed it was mine. On my right, there was the bathroom, a closet and the door. There
was also a big refrigerator next to the closet

Chinese Influence On Japan
Throughout time, Japan became home to many different cultures, the oldest believed to stretch back to
around 30,000 years. One of the strongest influences of these cultures was Chinese. The earliest
records of Japan are dated back to around 400 CE, and were written by Chinese visitors. Although
Japan was separated from the rest of East Asia it still maintained contact with Korea and China. This
subjected it to foreign influence, especially that of the Han (221 207 BC) and later Chinese dynasties.
In 593, Shotoku, a Buddhist Prince, emerged in Japan. His rule contributed greatly to the adoption of
foreign cultures in Japan. In 709 CE, a new capital city, Nara, was built in Japan. Nara was almost an
exact replica of the Tang dynasty capital. However, in the late 700s, Heian Japan Era ... Show more

Although they borrowed heavily from China, they ended up with a system that contained little
connection to the Chinese . In 369 AD, Japan invaded South Korea in an attempt to maintain the
political balance of power. One of the most important things that happened during this time was the
introduction of the Chinese writing system into Japanese culture. Korea itself was largely subjected to
Chinese culture, and it was through Korea that Chinese writing entered Japanese culture. Many
Chinese characters, and even whole words, were incorporated into the Japanese writing system.
However, during Heian Japan, the writing system changed. Japan began to change its writing from
Chinese to better suit the Japanese language, however much of the Japanese literature in this period
was still written in Chinese. Men especially continued to use the Chinese writing particularly for
official business. However the new language did become popular for poetry, diaries, novels, and was
used mostly by women. In this way, although Japan did adopt the writing system from china they
ended up with something that was unique to their own

St. Anselm s Ontological Argument
There are many proofs for the existence of God, but maybe none are as famous as St. Anselm s
Ontological argument. The Ontological argument is addressing God, as a prayer. Anselm analyzes the
very idea of God to prove that he exists. There are two versions of Anselm s Ontological argument,
and both attempt to show that God must exist. Despite the many critics that Anselm faced including
Guanilo, and St. Thomas Aquinas, the Ontological argument continues to be one of the most famous
arguments for the existence of God that provides support for those who believe in God. In the first
version of the Ontological argument, Anselm starts with the definition of God. Anselm states that God
is defined as that being in which nothing greater can be thought. ... Show more content on

This argument may seem sound, but it is not. You have to understand that God is that being in which
nothing greater can be thought to get Anselm s argument as shown by Thomas Aquinas. Anselm failed
to acknowledge that some people may not define God as that being in which nothing greater can exist.
Anselm just jumped from the idea of something to the reality of it. The idea of God as the being which
nothing greater can exist is sound, but it is not possible to jump from this idea to the reality of God as
that being. There is no proof that God is that being, which makes Anselm s argument illogical. As
Aquinas stated, you can t say something is self evident based on the meaning of the terms involved.
This again shows us why it is hard to use logic to prove God s existence. The ontological argument
will surely not convince an atheist that God exists because it just fails to take their perspective on God.
The ontological argument does however provide some support to those who believe in God. In other
words, the ontological argument will strengthen the beliefs of a

Critical Analysis Of The Raven
Within the poem The Raven written by Edgar Allen Poe, is a speaker who lives alone. The speaker
within the poem must confront the reality of his circumstances, by admitting the death of his wife
named Lenore. Throughout the poem, Edgar Allen Poe describes the vicious cyclical combat of grief
through the speaker, as he imagines faint whispering and tapping on his door. Within his psychotic
episodes, the speaker witnesses a talking raven. The raven acts as a symbol of truth concerning the
death of Lenore. Only to leave the speaker with the inability to accept his wife s death.
Throughout the poem, Poe emphasizes characteristics of the speaker through the setting. The speaker s

This is due to the raven, ultimately linking the internal conflict of the speaker. The relationship
between the speaker s grieving process is seen through the speaker s perspective of the raven.
Because the raven represents the death of Lenore, Poe first introduces the raven within the poem as a
sudden, and fright full event. The uncertain rustling of each purple curtain catches the speaker off
guard, as it thrill[s] [him] fill[s] [him] with fantastic terrors never felt before (13 14). By introducing
the raven in a frightful manner, Poe implies that Lenore s death was sudden and terrifying for the

explains why the speaker distracts himself with the volume[s] of forgotten lore within the first stanza;
and explains why the speaker is suddenly intrigued with [the] visitor entreating entrance at [his] door

and nothing more (24). By leaving the speaker alone with his thoughts, Poe is emphasizing the
speaker s loneliness and hints towards the speaker s grieving process. Although it may seem as if the
speaker admits to the death of his wife long I stood there wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming

Emerging Markets And Developing Economies
Over the years the global economy has seen a rise in so called emerging markets . These are
developing economies which have exceeded economic performance in respect to their developing
counterparts. These economies are newly industrialized and are on their way to becoming developed
economies but have not yet reached that status. The more common and likely heard developing
economies consists of BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India, and China) followed by Mexico, South Korea,
Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Indonesia. Developed nations (MEDC) include the westernised countries
such as the U.S, the U.K and Japan. In 1999, Dr. Kvint published this definition: Emerging market
country is a society transitioning from a dictatorship to a free market oriented economy, with
increasing economic freedom, gradual integration with the Global Marketplace and with other
members of the GEM (Global Emerging Market), an expanding middle class, improving standards of
living, social stability and tolerance, as well as an increase in cooperation with multilateral institutions
This essay will locate the common characteristics that emerging markets share.
The first characteristic is that they share a below average income per capita. This means that the
average person earns less in comparison to rest of the world. It can also be compared to cities, towns
or a given population but for this case the total population will be looked at to give a national average.
The income per capita is an important point as it

Cannabis Destroy Cancer Cells
How Cannabis Entirely Destroys Cancer Cells?
Cannabis is usually considered to be a harmful substance. There is a commonly shared opinion that
this plant has an addictive nature and that it is responsible for damaging both your mental and your
physical health, which is why it s illegal in most of the countries in the world. However, contrary to
popular belief, this plant has been used for medical purposes since ancient times. An active chemical
found in the cannabis, THC, is credited for its ability to relieve pain, to reduce anxiety, to prevent
vomiting and nausea and, to increase the appetite, which is why this plant is often linked with cancer
treatment. But, what is less commonly known is that THC can destroy cancer cells completely.

Christina Sanchez, a molecular biologist from Compultense University, explains that the cannabinoid
receptors and the endocannabinoids, along with the enzymes that produce them, create the
endocannabinoid system. According to Sanchez, this system is noted for its ability to regulate a
number of biological functions, including appetite, reproduction and many other processes that create
a healthy environment within the body, which is why the cannabis has an enormous therapeutic
potential.
Apart from the THC, the plant produces a compound called cannabidiol. This compound is of a great
significance because it doesn t have any psychoactive properties. Instead, it acts as an antioxidant that
kills cancer cells and that protects the brain from stress and damage. When this compound is
combined with THC, the ability to treat cancerous diseases is even more powerful.
Dr. Sanchez and her team worked on a project which aim was to prove that THC has a positive effect
in the cancer treatment. In the research, they treated astrocytoma cells with cannabinoids. What they
discovered was that THC, the main psychoactive component of cannabis, was killing the cancer cells.
After noticing the anticancer ability of THC to destroy cancerous cells, the team started to test this
compound in animal models of glioblastoma tumor. They noticed that the cancer cells died whenever
they were exposed to THC. Dr. Sanchez states that THC is more powerful than chemotherapy because
it kills only cancer cells

Infant Caregiver Attachment
The essence of attachment to a developing infant cannot be overstated. It is at the heart of healthy
child development. Also, it lays a foundation when it comes to relating with others. It plays a crucial
role in influencing the parent s ability to nurture and to be responsive to their children. The effects of
attachment to the developing infant are long term. Bowlby, the developer of the theory of infant
caregiver attachment, attachment security determines the infant s preferential desire for contact with
his or her caregiver (Levine, 23). The child uses the caregiver as a secure base from which to explore
the environment. When infants develop securely attached relationships to their caregivers, they will
have positive behaviours in the future. They also tend to show resiliency to new environments.
Attachment to the developing infant plays a crucial role in regulating stress in times of illness, anxiety
and distress. Infants develop different kinds of attachment relationships. For instance, some infants
can become securely attached to the parent while others find themselves in an insecure attachment
relationship. The differences are determined by the social environment during the first few years of
life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Queen Mary I Of England
Queen Mary I of England was a part of the royal family, Tudor, after her grandfather, King Henry VII,
made their name known. Mary is best known as Bloody Mary , which she got for persecuting and
executing over 300 Protestant believers when they would not re conform to the Roman Church. She
also made the relationship between England and the Powerhouse of Europe , which was Spain, the
closest it ever was. Mary was married to Prince Philip, who was the son of King Charles V of Spain.
Mary beat several rebellions in attempt to take her throne, unifying England more than they were at
the beginning of the church reform. History shows Mary, but in reality, she did as much good deeds to
further England as she did horrifying atrocities. Mary s ideas ... Show more content on

Us Economic Health Case Study
In examining the United States economic health, it is important to consider the current account
deficits. The question as to whether or not the United States can run the current deficit accounts
indefinitely. Looking at the EU and its balance of payments, the question arises again as to whether or
not they can maintain the deficits they are experiencing, indefinitely. Globally speaking, the United
States does hold a unique position, but does that position allow the country the ability to consistently
run the deficits it currently maintains.
Current state of US Economic Health
The United States has seen a growth in the deficit beginning in 1991. The deficit equated to 3.6% of
the GDP in 1999 and rose to 4.4% during 2000. For instance, ... Show more content on

To Kill A Mockingbird Monologue
Dill left us early in September, to return to Meridian. We saw him off on the five o clock bus and I was
miserable without him until it occurred to me that I would be starting to school in a week. I never

The Joy Luck Club Research Paper
In addition, myths and superstitions can influence the actions and behaviors of others. Exposure to
superstitions and myths can change one s perception, and can therefore cause them to change the way
they behave. In The Joy Luck Club, the mothers use many Chinese myths and superstition to scare
their daughters into behaving, which helps them convey important lessons to younger generations. A
prime example of the effects of superstitions on people is the rice bowl myth. Ying Ying s daughter,
Lena St. Clair, has a habit of not completing her meals. When she does not finish all of her food, her
mother Ying Ying decides to intimidate her into doing so by saying Aii, Lena...your future husband

Many superstitions can have uses in the real world, and can help individuals overcome common
certain adversities. In The Joy Luck Club, Lena St. Clair uses the myth about the rice bowl to her
advantage when she encounters a boy named Arnold, someone who she despises for annoying her. She
uses the unfinished bowls of rice as a conduit to Arnold s disease stricken face, when she ...began to
leave more rice in her bowl. And then I extended my prodigal ways to beyond Chinese food. I did not
finish my creamed corn, broccoli, Rice Krispies, or peanut butter sandwiches (Tan 153). Tan s use
descriptive use of imagery illustrates the extent to which Lena was willing to go to in order to get rid
of Arnold, as she used the unfinished morsels of food to exacerbate Arnold s health. Her method not
only not only demonstrates her ingenuity, but how the myth was useful in real life, demonstrating how
morals conveyed by myths can be used to overcome real life challenges. The article by Progress in
Health Sciences further supports the useful of superstitions and myths in everyday life. The article
describes the correlation between superstition and mental thought processes, saying that People who
are superstitious see a causal relation between their own thoughts or actions and events in the world.
People cannot tolerate uncertainty or believe that they have no control over events; they lead us to
believe that we can influence outcomes [14] (Krajewska). People s ability to make connections with
the real world through myths and superstitions further demonstrates the reality of these stories, as well
as how they could be used to solve problems in the real life. The articles suggests how superstitions
can show people how to match aspects of the real world with their own thoughts, which can make
them see things more clearly in the real world. The Joy Luck Club provides

Invention Of The Light Bulb
In our career and even life itself, we find that we take certain habits and processes that once we did not
have. Some of these are products of the influences other people have over us while others are
discoveries from our own personal experiences and stabs in the dark. These are littered with successes
but are primarily made up of failures. When something goes wrong for us or another and it could have
been prevented by taking another course of action, we learn what not to do and what to do. Take
Thomas Edison for example, the acclaimed inventor of the light bulb. Inventing a light bulb was not
an easy task and, as can be expected, there were many failures. Nonetheless he believed that I have not
failed, I ve just found 10,000 ways that won t work. Firstly, I will talk about the methods I have

due to these influences. Secondly, I will talk about the approaches I take to achieve the methods I have
previously mentioned. These will include philosophies and theories based off who I am as a person as
well as my beliefs. I will then reflect on the roots that these approaches came from and any biases they
may have caused in my works. Finally, I will talk about any art forms, philosophies and other

Luke Aikins Research Paper
With more than 16,000 jumps to his credit, professional skydiver Luke Aikins has performed many
heart stopping stunts, but his latest feat tops them all. On July 30, 2016, the 42 year old daredevil
became the first man in the world to leap off a plane from an altitude of 25,000 feet without a wingsuit
or parachute! Instead, he relied on a net that measured 100 by 100 feet, or less than one third the size
of a football field, to break his fall and help him land safely.
The stunt, aptly named Heaven Sent, was so dangerous that the United States Parachute Association
(USPA) initially denied the skydiver s request to jump without a parachute. However, the association
had a change of heart just minutes before the event, which meant that Akins had no backup during the
historic leap. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Commonplace Book Analysis
A little over three months ago, I, along with thousands of other freshmen, embarked on a scary, yet
exciting new chapter in our lives. Most of us, myself included, thought that we were well prepared for
our first classes as college students. If I were asked what I had learned during college, I would have a
hard time stating anything other than useless facts related to my classes. My commonplace book
includes posts from throughout the semester that express my progression as both a student and a
person.
While I was rereading entries from my commonplace book, I was reminded of the dejected feeling
that I had at the beginning of each unit. It was almost amusing to me to see how fearful I was of each
project and then see how I gradually progressed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first tag is learning . It may seem obvious but I learned so much about not the only the writing
process, but in my self too. Nearly all of my entries in the commonplace book discuss some lesson
that I learned from the time when I figured out MLA format to when I finally realized how to revise
the style of my papers. The second tag is Fear of Failure . One of my favorite quotes is from Gena
Showalter that says Giving up is the only sure way to fail . One of my biggest problems throughout
the semester was being discouraged right from the beginning, which I talked about in each unit
reflection. Once I overcame the fear of screwing up the project, I was finally able to get to work and
spit out some pretty good material. My third tag is Resiliency . I thought about combining resiliency
and fear of failure but the more that I thought about it, I realized that they were completely different.
Resiliency deals with the extreme amount of effort that I put into each any ever piece that I brought to
class even though I would rather be doing literally anything else. It also covers all of the times when I
had no clue what I was doing and had to start over from scratch, even though I could have easily
turned in a piece that would have received an okay grade. Differences is my fourth tag. The idea of
differences first came to me when we were working on the Op Doc analysis and each had videos that
were all polar opposites of each other. Not only were the styles of our Op Docs different, but so were
the styles in which we wrote our analyses. In high school we learn how to do everything just like one
another, but in college we finally open our eyes and see that being different is what makes us who we
are. My final tag is Creative Edge . It took me to the late half of the semester to finally find my
creative edge. Because it took me so long to find it, I had started to think that

said that the riveting tale will make a difference in your life . The book and Frankl s ideas debate that
people are not driven by desires but by the meaning that they discover and place on their own lives
and the task of fulfilling that meaning. In Man s Search for Meaning Frankl outlines three phases or

Differential Staining Procedure
There are two types of staining: simple staining and differential staining. Staining is used to identify
unknown bacterium including the structures within it and aseptic techniques should always be used.
Bacterium is a transparent cell. Due to this, bacteria has to be stained and identified to be categorized.
During simple staining, a sample of bacteria is taken from a culture. First, water is placed on a slide
with a loop then, the bacteria is scratched onto the slide. It must dry completely before it is fixed to the
slide with the use of a Bunsen burner. One stain such as crystal violet is placed on the slide for one
minute to add color. Once it has been rinsed off and dried with blotting paper it can be viewed under a
microscope. A differential ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Triphenyltetrazolium chloride (TTC) is turns the bacteria to a red color making it easier to see if the

Romantic Jealousy s Effect On Self-Esteem
Romantic Jealousy s Effect on Self Esteem
Evolutionary psychology has presented the theory that romantic jealousy, the feelings of threat or loss
to an important emotional relationship, evolved as an adaptation to protect investment relationships
(Buss, 1998; 2005). According to evolutionary theory, jealousy serves as an advantage in mate
retention and sexual reproduction for those who are able to effectively express such feelings of
romantic jealousy (Wade Walsh, 2008). Central to human social patterns, jealousy has been shown to
be a universal emotion (Buunk Hupka, 1987). Much of evolutionary theory focuses on sex differences
in the experience of romantic jealousy between males and females (Buss, 1992; Sagarin, et al, 2003;
Sagarin Guadagno, 2004), while other bodies of research primarily focus on personality traits
predisposing individuals to exhibit these jealous feelings (Wade Walsh, 2008). Previous empirical
research expands on personality theory, investigating the effect of self esteem levels on an individual s
tendency toward feelings of jealousy (Steward Beatty, 1985), though few studies have explored the
reverse direction of jealousy s potential impact on self esteem. ... Show more content on

History of Thorium
History of thorium
Thorium is naturally a radioactive chemical element, which was discovered in 1828 from the
Norwegian mineralogist Morten Thrane Esmark, and named Thor from Jons Jakob Bezelius, which
means the Norse God of Thunder. Thorium is the most abundant metal found in earth crust and had
been scattered million years ago in the galaxy, with the explosion of meteors known as supernova.
Thorium generates radioactive gas products, as radon 20 decay. Other decay by products of thorium
are radium and actinium. But, thorium is found in nature as thorium 232, which has a half life and
endures under alpha decay. Thorium decay produces a significant amount of internal heat energy.

Some of the disadvantages of using thorium fuel is the production of 233Pa, an halfway product which
produces 233U. 233 Pa relatively has a half life of 27 days and produces a great amount of 233U. And
a second disadvantage of using thorium fuel is the contamination of 232U, due to the high energy of
gamma radiation that is emitted from one of its decay products. Uranium 235 reactors are known as
nuclear reactors, which are capable to produce a significant amount of nuclear weapons. With the
uranium 235 reactors people were able to make nuclear weapons, presenting a non safety and non
stability environment. Also the production of uranium 235 presents the wastage of its radioactive
byproducts in the environment, which requires a hundred years to decay.
What is the status of constructing a thorium reactor to produce power? Thorium reactors based on
their safety, cleanness and the ability to produce a large amount of energy has triggered the idea of
constructing thorium reactor as an easy way to produce any source of power. There are several
thorium reactors that are used to produce power : Heavy Water Reactor( PHWRs) this is a reactor
based on thorium fuel due to the combination of neutrons that can be absorbed to produce 233U, an

Pascal Boyer s Explanation Of Religion Summary
First of all, Pascal Boyer begins by giving common explanations of religion, all of them have some
logic and good understanding. Also, he introduces by saying that psychology, anthropology, and
neuroscience offer more empirical approach in acquiring and representing religious concepts. In fact,
he gives a table represented by Do s and Don ts in the study of religion, apparently what he wants us

does not activate particular capacity in the mind and religion and no religion are parts of our mental
equipment. He starts arguing that people defend their beliefs according to his view in what he call
sleep of reason interpretation. However, Boyer is not satisfactory at all with the sleep of reason
because some pieces of that information will have effect in some people but not others, and he express
that he could make up hundreds of such interesting and irrefutable beliefs that no one would ever

The Effects Of Bilingualism
Bilingualism is commonly defined as the use of two languages by an individual. It is a term for
children and adults who have a proficiency in two languages (ASHA, 2004). Bilingualism is common
and it is on the rise in many parts of the world. Moreover, one in three people being bilingual or
multilingual (Wei, 2000).
It is estimated that there are more second language speakers of English than native speakers (Genesee,
2009), and there are as many bilingual children as there are monolingual children (Paradis, Genesee,
Crago, 2011). It means that many children are being raised as bilinguals. Sometimes bilingualism is
required for them, because the children s parents may not speak a dominant language fluently. The
dominant language is the language that is the someone s strongest language, and people feel more
comfortable when they are speaking, reading, and writing in that language. Therefore, the child may
learn one language at home and he/she can learn another at school. But sometimes bilingualism is a
preference. Because parents may want to expose their children to another language, even if they do
not know and speak a second language.

Essay on Reasons Behind China’s Enlarging Rural-Urban Divide
Urbanization brings with it a disparity between rural and urban living standards. Nonetheless, in China
this gap has started to become quite severe and has become a cause for concern (Naughton 113).
Chinas Gini coefficient is currently at .415, which displays the increasing disparity in the country (
DISTRIBUTION OF FAMILY ). The rural urban divide begun with the different ways the Chinese
government ran the rural and urban areas. The urban areas were fully under control of the central
government and since they were seen as the building blocks of the country they received many

This is especially true for the poorer regions that cannot afford to greatly subsidize the education
system. This is a problem for the already poorer rural residents and causes many families to not be
able to afford to pay for more than the mandatory 9 years of schooling. Though some areas have
stopped requiring their students to pay tuition China lacks an adequate amount of schools and parents
still have to bear transportation costs (Hussain). This leads to a repetitive cycle of poverty in which
rural children cannot obtain the adequate education that could lead them to obtain a higher paying job
and leave the poverty cycle.
Another issue that contributes to the rural urban divide is the extremely high cost of health care. In
2006, 39% of the rural population could not afford professional medical treatment ( Healthcare in
China ). Even though the government has introduced various systems to try to overcome this lack of
access to medical care, such as the Rural Cooperative Medical Scheme and has increased expenditure
on health care, the results of this have not been equally spread. Many rural residents are still uninsured
and have large out of pocket health care expenses. In addition, 80 percent of health expenditures are
allocated to urban areas even though 70 percent of the population resides in rural areas ( Healthcare in
China ). This is an example of Chinas

Decline And Decline Of The Early Church Attendance
The problem under examination is the decline in church attendance in America, and the impact of that
decline on our society. The purpose of the research was to ascertain the factors that contribute to the
decline in church attendance. The research methodology that was used was the qualitative method.
Empirical data from the scholarly research was closely examined and analyzed to determine the five
main reasons for this decline. They are as follows: 1) Secularization of Society 2) Inability of the
Organization to Adapt to ever changing times 3) Failure to retain youth beyond Post High School
years 4) Disenfranchised members 5) Lack of Zeal. The church must, therefore, make the effort to
give time and attention to these factors in order to reverse this negative trend. In conclusion, these are
the five things churches need to do to sustain and improve the growth of their congregations. First,
develop a strategies by each particular set of environmental factors internally as well as externally.
Second, resist the temptation to use secularization as a stumbling block, but utilize to formulate
innovative methods of doing business instead of plodding along with business as usual. Third, instill
faith that will last within the youth so that even if they stray if but a moment the will be wired in such
a manner that they will return to their core set of values. Values that have been instilled in them

Summary Of Conflict In Dostoevsky s Cuckoolsky
Part II: Close Reading/ Literary Term Analysis
1st Entry: Part I (Conflict)
Conflict: Conflict is a struggle that happens between two opposing forces. There are two main types of
conflict, internal and external. Internal conflict is the struggle between man and himself. External
struggles include man versus man, man versus nature and man versus society.
Example: I wonder what people are most afraid of? I babble too much... maybe I babble because I don
t do anything. I ve learned to babble over this past month, lying in a corner, thinking about...
Cuckooland. Why on earth am I going now? Am I really capable of that? (4).
Function: In the first few pages of the novel, the author establishes the mental state that Raskolnikov
is in and his constant self doubt that he faces. By using internal conflict, Dostoevsky can show the
way Raskolnikov is constantly questioning himself, his preparation for his crime and how he might
react in the aftermath of committing his crime. In the opening paragraphs of Crime and Punishment,
readers can see Raskolnikov questioning himself and going back and forth about every thought that
enters his mind. These thoughts include what people are afraid of, whether he babbles too much, why
he babbles and when and why he is going to Cuckooland. By vividly describing the internal conflict
that Raskolnikov is facing, readers are able to establish a sense of how Raskolnikov handles situations
and his thought process. By establishing this now, Dostoevsky gets

Medal of Honor
The Congressional Medal of Honour
The Medal of Honour is the highest military decoration awarded by the United States government. It
is given to a member of the United States armed forces who distinguishes himself conspicuously by
gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty while engaged in an
action against an enemy of the United States .
Because of the nature of its criteria, the medal is often awarded posthumously. Members of all
branches of the U.S. military are eligible to receive the medal, and each service has a unique design
with the exception of the Marine Corps and Coast Guard, which both use the Navy s medal. The
Medal of Honour is often presented personally to the recipient or, in ... Show more content on

The Coast Guard Medal of Honour, which was distinguished from the Navy medal in 1963, has never
been awarded, partly because the U.S. Coast Guard is subsumed into the U.S. Navy in time of
declared war. No design yet exists for it. Only one member of the Coast Guard has received a Medal
of Honour, Signalman 1st Class Douglas Munro, who was awarded the Navy version for action during
the Battle of Guadalcanal. In the rare cases, 19 so far, where a service member has been awarded more
than one Medal of Honour, current regulations specify that an appropriate award device be cantered on
the Medal of Honour ribbon and neck medal.
To indicate multiple presentations of the Medal of Honour, the U.S. Army and Air Force bestow oak
leaf clusters, while the Navy Medal of Honour is worn with gold award stars. A ribbon which is the
same shade of light blue as the neckband, and includes five white stars, pointed upwards, in the shape
of an M is worn for situations other than full dress uniform. When the ribbon is worn, it is placed
alone above the centre of the other ribbons. For wear with civilian clothing, a rosette is issued instead
of a miniature lapel pin (which usually shows the ribbon bar). The rosette is the same shade of blue as
the neck ribbon and includes white stars. The ribbon and rosette are presented at the same time as the
medal.
On October 23, 2003 a Medal of Honour flag was to be presented to recipients of the decoration. The
flag was

The Pathophysiology Of Deltoid Muscles
Lowering Phase Once the push up is completed, the person must precisely lower themselves back
down to a prone position. In this phase, the same muscles are used as discussed in the pushing up
phase, except in the opposite direction. Stabilizers The muscles being discussed are needed to help
stabilize the body and keep it straight while doing a push up. The primary muscles being examined are
the abdominal muscles. These muscles are called the rectus abdominis. They are located in the
anterior trunk of the midline. This muscle is divided into two sides and is separated by the linea alba.
They start at the crest of the pubis and insert in the costal cartilages of the fifth, sixth, and seventh ribs.

This muscle is the only muscle that is on the posterior side of the arm. It is the agonist to the deltoids
during some movements. According to Lippert, the triceps has three heads: long, lateral and medial.
That is why it is commonly called the triceps muscle, tri meaning three. The long head starts at the
inferior rim of the glenoid fossa of the scapula and goes between the teres minor and major. The
lateral head attaches to the lateral side on the posterior surface of the humerus, just below the greater
tubercle. The medial head of the triceps lies deep to the long and lateral heads. It is attached on the
posterior surface below the lateral head. The body of the triceps are formed when all three heads come
together (Lippert, 2011). The action of the triceps brachii is to extend the elbow and the shoulder, and
create shoulder adduction. The origin of this muscle is in three different places, due to the three heads.
The long head origin is the infraglenoid tubercle of the scapula. The lateral head origin is the posterior
surface of the proximal half of the humerus. Lastly, the medial head origin is in the posterior surface
of distal half of the humerus. The insertion is at the olecranon process of the ulna (Andrew Biel,

Abstract Consortium Bank A subsidiary bank created by numerous banks. A consortium bank is
created to fund a specific project (such as providing affordable homeownership for low and moderate
income home buyers) or to execute a specific deal (such as selling loans in the loan syndication
market) . (Investopedia, 2009)
The Consortium generally strengthens the individual bank s assets to meet their objectives. All
member banks have equal or proportionate ownership shares the member with the highest percentage
of shares has the leading authority. After the bank s objective is met the consortium typically
dissolves.

All these banks came together so as to invest in the Real Estate Sector that too in the East Lansing
area. The main focus of our Consortium is to finance inner city and mixed used projects.
Inner City Projects are basically for the redevelopment of the city so as to improve the urban
infrastructure, financial services, land tenure regularization, enhanced community capacity and
improvements in public safety. (Jackson, 2015)
Mixed Used Projects are any urban, suburban or village development, or even a single building, that
blends a combination of residential, commercial, cultural, institutional, or industrial uses, where those
functions are physically and functionally integrated, and that provides pedestrian connections.
(Jackson, 2015)
So basically we are interested in investing in any such project that is in the well fare of the city of East
Lansing as well as its residents. It can be a hospital, a residential complex, a commercial office
building, a school or any such project that enhances the real estate market of the city and should be for
the wellness of the residents of the city.
In this report further I am going to discuss about the Loan policies of the consortium for the Real
Estate Developers.
Why is a Consortium needed?
A syndicate bank is formed by multiple banks, for a particular purpose of financing a specific project
that is too big for an individual bank to finance on its own. Under this procedure the

The History of Nursery Ryhmes Essay
The History of Nursery Ryhmes
When you think of nursery rhymes, do you think of innocent, silly games you played as a child? Think
again. Most of the nursery rhymes that have become so popular with the children were never intended
for them. Most began as folk songs or ballads sung in taverns. These songs (rhymes) all most always
were written to make fun of religious leaders or to gossip about kings and queens (Brittanica pars. 1
5). Nursery rhymes are being studied the past few decades as a way to help children learn their
alphabet and numbers. These rhymes have been proven affective in helping children s language skills
improve. As I began to explore different nursery rhymes, I found that they opened up and disclosed
some of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are eight categories of rhymes: Lullabies (Rock a bye Baby,) singing games (London Bridges,)
nonsense (Hey Diddle Diddle), riddles (Humpty Dumpty), counting
(One, Two, Buckle my Shoe), tongue twisters (Peter Piper), verse stories (Queen of Hearts), and
cumulative rhymes (House that Jack Built) (Pars. 5). According to the World Book Encyclopedia the
earliest known published collection of nursery rhymes was Tommy Thumb s SongBook in 1744, but
in 1697 there was a book published in France called Tales of Mother Goose. This book contained eight
fairytales including Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, and Sleeping Beauty. The most influential
collection was Mother Goose s Melodies: or Sonnet s for the Cradle published in 1781 (616 617).
More than two hundred years since the first book of rhymes was published, interest in children and
fantasy is again running high. The nursery rhyme now represents the oral history of hundreds of years
and how understanding the struggles of authority and occasional mischief by the common people
made with moral conventions and emotional expectations as well as with language. Often anonymous,
such rhymes share interesting characteristics both in content and in linguistic patterning across a huge
range of cultures. The origins and purposes of many nursery rhymes have evolved over time, and
many people do not realize what the

Computer Programming And Informational Technology
One of the best sources for career information is the U.S. Department of Labor s Bureau of Labor
Statistics (BLS). According to BLS data, 74 percent of new STEM (science, technology, engineering
and math) jobs through 2022 will be in computing (Hoffman). This information shows that computer
science is a major field, and that it is growing rapidly; However, there are not enough people to fill the
roles in this field. So, in order to understand how computers work and what career paths are associated
with them, It s important to figure out how the hardware works, software works, and then see what
career paths there are in computer programming and informational technology in order to educate
people on what they need to learn for this career. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then information is then sent to the CPU, which has three basic capabilities: to perform basic
mathematical operations, move data from one memory location to another, make decisions to jump
from one instruction to another (Laue). Next, the character is sent to a RAM chip, an integrated circuit
made of millions of pairs of transistors and capacitors that are linked to create a memory cell. These
capacitors and transistors are arranged as a grid, with the columns connected by bitlines and the rows
connected by wordlines. The combination of bitlines and wordlines defines an address for each switch
and capacitor. This also accounts for why this type of memory is called random access: you can access
any memory cell directly if you know its address (Laue). Finally, the letter is sent to the output device,
which includes monitors, printers, modems, ethernet cards, and speakers. Modems are the hardware
device through which most of us were introduced to the Internet. The computer operates exclusively
with Is and Os, with a digital code. By contrast, phone lines work with an analogue signal, an
electronic current with variable frequency and strength. It is the modem s job to demodulate data from
a phone line, to convert the wave to a series of Is and Os, and to modulate the data generated by the
computer, to convert the Is and Os to a continuous wave (Laue). So, the hardware of a computer
works by receiving an input from a keyboard, sending it to the motherboard s

Connection to friction Specific heat connects to friction through the specific heat capacity of brake pads in a vehicle. Firstly, brake pads are a key component to your car because it is what allows you to stop. When you stomp down on the brake pedal, the brake pads applies pressure and friction to the cars brake rotors which eventually slows it down to a stop. Water has a different specific heat than copper which has a different specific heat than gold. The reasoning behind this is the same reason why different substances have different melting and boiling points. Water for example has a very high specific heat needing 4.186 joule/gram °c to raise 1 gram by 1 °c. Why does water have such a high specific heat? Well, when something heats up, the particles vibrate and the more hot the object gets the faster they move. Waters molecules are not easily movable because of its molecular structure. Water molecules have a strong bond to each other because of the polarity of the molecule. One side is very positive and the other very negative. It is difficult to move or break these bonds because the positive is attracted to the negative. So what does that have to do with specific heat? The answer is that water has such a high specific heat because it is a polar liquid. hypothetically if water was not so polar it would have a lower specific heat because the bonds would not be so attracted to each ... The first group believes that The Republic is truly a model for a political society, while the other strongly objects to that, stating it as being far too fantastic for any society to operate successfully by these suggested methods. In an exchange between Crito and Dionysius, this argument is first introduced, with Crito siding with those who agree that The Republic is a realistic political model, and Dionysius arguing on behalf of those who doubt it as being realistic, claiming it to be a criticism of politics in general. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In his fifth chapter, entitled The Problem Stated, Plato introduces what he believes to be wrong with the current system of politics (Plato 41). He starts by describing the Social Contract theory (Plato 53), the method used during his time, a method Plato rejected. It says: all the customary rules of religion and moral conduct imposed on the individual by social sanctions have their origin in human intelligence and will and always rest on tacit consent. They are neither laws of nature nor divine enactments, but conventions which man who made them can alter, as laws are changed or repealed by legislative bodies. It is assumed that, if all these artificial restraints were removed, the natural man would be left only with purely egotistic instincts and desires, which he would indulge in all that Thrasymachus commended as injustice (Plato 41 42). Wasps Narrative On the Fourth of July of last year, I woke up that morning ready to take my siblings to a creek where we could enjoy the beautiful day before the night, thinking that nothing could go wrong. We all prepared our things, making sure that we had everything we needed, as far as swimsuits, floating devices, and most importantly food and drinks. On our trip, things took a worst when I shattered my heel because of wasps. I drove my mother s car because it was large enough to fit my family in. The mutual trust between the women creates an environment that encourages openness with one another and the ease of revealing information to each other. It is because of the pivotal aspect of trust that Elizabeth is able to confide in her sister. This is proven when she related to Jane the next day what had passed between Mr. Wickham and herself even though she kept the exchange secret from everyone else and Jane listened with astonishment and concern (Austen 73). Elizabeth s trust in Jane is strengthened by the weakening of trust in her dear friend Charlotte Lucas. Elizabeth is, naturally, shocked when she hears that Charlotte is engaged to be married to Mr. Collins mere days after Elizabeth herself had refused his hand in marriage. In as short a time as Mr. Collins s speeches would allow, everything was settled between them to the satisfaction of both (Austen 106). Although Japan was separated from the rest of East Asia it still maintained contact with Korea and China. There are two versions of Anselm s Ontological argument, and both attempt to show that God must exist. Despite the many critics that Anselm faced including Guanilo, and St. Thomas Aquinas, the Ontological argument continues to be one of the most famous arguments for the existence of God that provides support for those who believe in God. In the first version of the Ontological argument, Anselm starts with the definition of God. Anselm states that God is defined as that being in which nothing greater can be thought. ... The idea of God as the being which nothing greater can exist is sound, but it is not possible to jump from this idea to the reality of God as that being. There is no proof that God is that being, which makes Anselm s argument illogical. As Aquinas stated, you can t say something is self evident based on the meaning of the terms involved. This again shows us why it is hard to use logic to prove God s existence. She uses the unfinished bowls of rice as a conduit to Arnold s disease stricken face, when she ...began to leave more rice in her bowl. And then I extended my prodigal ways to beyond Chinese food. I did not finish my creamed corn, broccoli, Rice Krispies, or peanut butter sandwiches (Tan 153). Tan s use descriptive use of imagery illustrates the extent to which Lena was willing to go to in order to get rid of Arnold, as she used the unfinished morsels of food to exacerbate Arnold s health. Her method not only not only demonstrates her ingenuity, but how the myth was useful in real life, demonstrating how morals conveyed by myths can be used to overcome real life challenges. The article by Progress in Health Sciences further supports the useful of superstitions and myths in everyday life. The article describes the correlation between superstition and mental thought processes, saying that People who are superstitious see a causal relation between their own thoughts or actions and events in the world. People cannot tolerate uncertainty or believe that they have no control over events; they lead us to believe that we can influence outcomes [14] (Krajewska). People s ability to make connections with the real world through myths and superstitions further demonstrates the reality of these stories, as well as how they could be used to solve problems in the real life. • 26. Invention Of The Light Bulb In our career and even life itself, we find that we take certain habits and processes that once we did not have. Some of these are products of the influences other people have over us while others are discoveries from our own personal experiences and stabs in the dark. These are littered with successes but are primarily made up of failures. When something goes wrong for us or another and it could have been prevented by taking another course of action, we learn what not to do and what to do. Take Thomas Edison for example, the acclaimed inventor of the light bulb. Inventing a light bulb was not an easy task and, as can be expected, there were many failures. Nonetheless he believed that I have not failed, I ve just found 10,000 ways that won t work. Luke Aikins Research Paper Photo Credit: strideheavensent.tumblr.com With more than 16,000 jumps to his credit, professional skydiver Luke Aikins has performed many heart stopping stunts, but his latest feat tops them all. On July 30, 2016, the 42 year old daredevil became the first man in the world to leap off a plane from an altitude of 25,000 feet without a wingsuit or parachute! Instead, he relied on a net that measured 100 by 100 feet, or less than one third the size of a football field, to break his fall and help him land safely. The stunt, aptly named Heaven Sent, was so dangerous that the United States Parachute Association (USPA) initially denied the skydiver s request to jump without a parachute. • 28. Commonplace Book Analysis A little over three months ago, I, along with thousands of other freshmen, embarked on a scary, yet exciting new chapter in our lives. Most of us, myself included, thought that we were well prepared for our first classes as college students. If I were asked what I had learned during college, I would have a hard time stating anything other than useless facts related to my classes. My commonplace book includes posts from throughout the semester that express my progression as both a student and a person. While I was rereading entries from my commonplace book, I was reminded of the dejected feeling that I had at the beginning of each unit. It may seem obvious but I learned so much about not the only the writing process, but in my self too. Nearly all of my entries in the commonplace book discuss some lesson that I learned from the time when I figured out MLA format to when I finally realized how to revise the style of my papers. The second tag is Fear of Failure . One of my favorite quotes is from Gena Showalter that says Giving up is the only sure way to fail . One of my biggest problems throughout the semester was being discouraged right from the beginning, which I talked about in each unit reflection. Once I overcame the fear of screwing up the project, I was finally able to get to work and spit out some pretty good material. My third tag is Resiliency . I thought about combining resiliency and fear of failure but the more that I thought about it, I realized that they were completely different. Resiliency deals with the extreme amount of effort that I put into each any ever piece that I brought to class even though I would rather be doing literally anything else. It also covers all of the times when I had no clue what I was doing and had to start over from scratch, even though I could have easily turned in a piece that would have received an okay grade. Differences is my fourth tag. The idea of differences first came to me when we were working on the Op Doc analysis and each had videos that were all polar opposites of each other. Not only were the styles of our Op Docs different, but so were the styles in which we wrote our analyses. In high school we learn how to do everything just like one another, but in college we finally open our eyes and see that being different is what makes us who we are. My final tag is Creative Edge . It took me to the late half of the semester to finally find my creative edge. Because it took me so long to find it, I had started to think that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Romantic Jealousy s Effect On Self-Esteem Romantic Jealousy s Effect on Self Esteem Evolutionary psychology has presented the theory that romantic jealousy, the feelings of threat or loss to an important emotional relationship, evolved as an adaptation to protect investment relationships (Buss, 1998; 2005). According to evolutionary theory, jealousy serves as an advantage in mate retention and sexual reproduction for those who are able to effectively express such feelings of romantic jealousy (Wade Walsh, 2008). Central to human social patterns, jealousy has been shown to be a universal emotion (Buunk Hupka, 1987). Much of evolutionary theory focuses on sex differences in the experience of romantic jealousy between males and females (Buss, 1992; Sagarin, et al, 2003; Sagarin Guadagno, 2004), while other bodies of research primarily focus on personality traits predisposing individuals to exhibit these jealous feelings (Wade Walsh, 2008). This leads to a repetitive cycle of poverty in which rural children cannot obtain the adequate education that could lead them to obtain a higher paying job and leave the poverty cycle. Another issue that contributes to the rural urban divide is the extremely high cost of health care. In 2006, 39% of the rural population could not afford professional medical treatment ( Healthcare in China ). Even though the government has introduced various systems to try to overcome this lack of access to medical care, such as the Rural Cooperative Medical Scheme and has increased expenditure on health care, the results of this have not been equally spread. Summary Of Conflict In Dostoevsky s Cuckoolsky Part II: Close Reading/ Literary Term Analysis 1st Entry: Part I (Conflict) Conflict: Conflict is a struggle that happens between two opposing forces. There are two main types of conflict, internal and external. Internal conflict is the struggle between man and himself. External struggles include man versus man, man versus nature and man versus society. Example: I wonder what people are most afraid of? I babble too much... maybe I babble because I don t do anything. By using internal conflict, Dostoevsky can show the way Raskolnikov is constantly questioning himself, his preparation for his crime and how he might react in the aftermath of committing his crime. In the opening paragraphs of Crime and Punishment, readers can see Raskolnikov questioning himself and going back and forth about every thought that enters his mind. These thoughts include what people are afraid of, whether he babbles too much, why he babbles and when and why he is going to Cuckooland. This muscle is the only muscle that is on the posterior side of the arm. It is the agonist to the deltoids during some movements. According to Lippert, the triceps has three heads: long, lateral and medial. That is why it is commonly called the triceps muscle, tri meaning three. The long head starts at the inferior rim of the glenoid fossa of the scapula and goes between the teres minor and major. The lateral head attaches to the lateral side on the posterior surface of the humerus, just below the greater tubercle. The medial head of the triceps lies deep to the long and lateral heads. It is attached on the posterior surface below the lateral head. The body of the triceps are formed when all three heads come together (Lippert, 2011). The action of the triceps brachii is to extend the elbow and the shoulder, and create shoulder adduction. The origin of this muscle is in three different places, due to the three heads. The long head origin is the infraglenoid tubercle of the scapula. The lateral head origin is the posterior surface of the proximal half of the humerus. Lastly, the medial head origin is in the posterior surface of distal half of the humerus. The insertion is at the olecranon process of the ulna (Andrew Biel, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

All these banks came together so as to invest in the Real Estate Sector that too in the East Lansing area. The main focus of our Consortium is to finance inner city and mixed used projects. Inner City Projects are basically for the redevelopment of the city so as to improve the urban infrastructure, financial services, land tenure regularization, enhanced community capacity and improvements in public safety. (Jackson, 2015) Mixed Used Projects are any urban, suburban or village development, or even a single building, that blends a combination of residential, commercial, cultural, institutional, or industrial uses, where those functions are physically and functionally integrated, and that provides pedestrian connections. (Jackson, 2015) So basically we are interested in investing in any such project that is in the well fare of the city of East Lansing as well as its residents. It can be a hospital, a residential complex, a commercial office building, a school or any such project that enhances the real estate market of the city and should be for the wellness of the residents of the city. In this report further I am going to discuss about the Loan policies of the consortium for the Real Estate Developers. Why is a Consortium needed? A syndicate bank is formed by multiple banks, for a particular purpose of financing a specific project that is too big for an individual bank to finance on its own. Under this procedure the

  • 47. The History of Nursery Ryhmes Essay The History of Nursery Ryhmes When you think of nursery rhymes, do you think of innocent, silly games you played as a child? Think again. Most of the nursery rhymes that have become so popular with the children were never intended for them. Most began as folk songs or ballads sung in taverns. These songs (rhymes) all most always were written to make fun of religious leaders or to gossip about kings and queens (Brittanica pars. 1 5). Nursery rhymes are being studied the past few decades as a way to help children learn their alphabet and numbers. These rhymes have been proven affective in helping children s language skills improve. As I began to explore different nursery rhymes, I found that they opened up and disclosed some of ... There are eight categories of rhymes: Lullabies (Rock a bye Baby,) singing games (London Bridges,) nonsense (Hey Diddle Diddle), riddles (Humpty Dumpty), counting (One, Two, Buckle my Shoe), tongue twisters (Peter Piper), verse stories (Queen of Hearts), and cumulative rhymes (House that Jack Built) (Pars. 5). According to the World Book Encyclopedia the earliest known published collection of nursery rhymes was Tommy Thumb s SongBook in 1744, but in 1697 there was a book published in France called Tales of Mother Goose. This book contained eight fairytales including Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, and Sleeping Beauty. The most influential collection was Mother Goose s Melodies: or Sonnet s for the Cradle published in 1781 (616 617). More than two hundred years since the first book of rhymes was published, interest in children and fantasy is again running high. The nursery rhyme now represents the oral history of hundreds of years and how understanding the struggles of authority and occasional mischief by the common people made with moral conventions and emotional expectations as well as with language. Often anonymous, such rhymes share interesting characteristics both in content and in linguistic patterning across a huge range of cultures. The origins and purposes of many nursery rhymes have evolved over time, and many people do not realize what the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Computer Programming And Informational Technology One of the best sources for career information is the U.S. Department of Labor s Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). According to BLS data, 74 percent of new STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) jobs through 2022 will be in computing (Hoffman). This information shows that computer science is a major field, and that it is growing rapidly; However, there are not enough people to fill the roles in this field. So, in order to understand how computers work and what career paths are associated with them, It s important to figure out how the hardware works, software works, and then see what career paths there are in computer programming and informational technology in order to educate people on what they need to learn for this career. ... Then information is then sent to the CPU, which has three basic capabilities: to perform basic mathematical operations, move data from one memory location to another, make decisions to jump from one instruction to another (Laue). Next, the character is sent to a RAM chip, an integrated circuit made of millions of pairs of transistors and capacitors that are linked to create a memory cell. These capacitors and transistors are arranged as a grid, with the columns connected by bitlines and the rows connected by wordlines. The combination of bitlines and wordlines defines an address for each switch and capacitor. This also accounts for why this type of memory is called random access: you can access any memory cell directly if you know its address (Laue). Finally, the letter is sent to the output device, which includes monitors, printers, modems, ethernet cards, and speakers. Modems are the hardware device through which most of us were introduced to the Internet. The computer operates exclusively with Is and Os, with a digital code. By contrast, phone lines work with an analogue signal, an electronic current with variable frequency and strength. It is the modem s job to demodulate data from a phone line, to convert the wave to a series of Is and Os, and to modulate the data generated by the computer, to convert the Is and Os to a continuous wave (Laue). So, the hardware of a computer works by receiving an input from a keyboard, sending it to the motherboard s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
