Looking Into the Past in Vonnegut s Slaughter House-Five...
Looking Into the Past in Vonnegut s Slaughter House Five
In the spring of 1945, near the end of World War II, American and British bombers rained a hail of fire
upon the city of Dresden, Germany. With an estimated 135,000 dead, Dresden is known as one of the
deadliest attacks in History, nearly twice as many deaths than the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. Kurt
Vonnegut was among the few who lived through the firestorm; he wrote a book about it in fact.
Slaughter House Five (1969) is a fictional recount of his experience of the war. Many of the events (at
least the parts set in WWII) are real experiences of Kurt. The people in the war are, for the most part,
real; Vonnegut just changes all the names. The main character, however does not ... Show more

This isn t Billy s first travel through time, just the most important. Back in Germany, the American
troops arrive at what will be their lodging for the next few days. The Americans eventually move to a
prison in Dresden. They are put to work, going on with their prisoner lives in what some seems to be a
peaceful German city during the war. Of course, there is no surprise when the sirens shriek and planes
fly by, dropping their deadly arsenal on the city below. Billy and a few other men live through the
bombing and find the city as desolate as the moon.
Slaughter House Five is obviously an anti war book, but there s more to it than that. Vonnegut believes
that the human trait of looking back can make us aware of our problems (such as war) and, hopefully,
be able to fix them in the future.
From the beginning to the end, Billy never stops time traveling. He travels to times ranging from his
childhood to his death and back again. Billy s time travels aren t like time travel that you normally
think of, with the time machines and the parallel time lines (think Back to the Future: Part Two.)
When Billy travels through time, he just starts living different parts of his life. Everyone in their mind
looks back at the past, and goes over and over and over mistakes that they made or traumatic events
that occurred in their life. For some people, these moments in their minds can be as real as if they
were living them over again,

Understanding Children s Creative Thought
Discussion #2: Foundations of Creative Thought Destinee D. Scott Ms. Brinkley Creative Arts CD
367 001 Alcorn State University May 30, 2018 Abstract This discussion post explores chapters one
and two from the text Creative Thinking and Arts Based Learning: Preschool through Fourth Grade
(Seventh Edition) by authors Joan Packer Isenberg and Mary Renck Jalongo. Using my textbook, I
will identify the importance of understanding children s creative thought and expression. As children
age from preschool to fourth grade, their creativity advances from knowing only initials and blurting
out small communication amongst each other to learning how to come together and work in groups to
accomplish a project. In addition, I will also explain the effectiveness ... Show more content on

It supports children s growth and learning across ages, domains, and cultural. Isenberg and Jalongo
(2018) also explain that games support cognitive skills such as decision making and problem solving
abilities; language skills such as speaking and listening; social skills such as turn taking and
cooperating; self regulation skills such as exercising control over their emotions, thinking, and actions;
and physical skills such as writing and drawing. The four types of cognitive play are functional play,
symbolic play, constructive play, and games with rules (Isenberg and Jalongo, 2018). In addition,
social play develops from solitary play in preschoolers to cooperative play in fourth graders. Teachers
perform six roles when supporting children s play: observer, collaborator, planner, responder, role
model, and mediator. From my understanding, all of the roles must be completed to support children s

Marketing Strategy Of Facebook
Facebook
Facebook is one of the top social media platforms with more than 1.23 billion active users worldwide.
62% of the 1.23 billion users log in on a daily basis making it the best medium to reach for new
customers. Today, businesses both big and small use Facebook as an advertising source to help their
brand expand.
As 24 Hour Fitness continued with expansion, the marketing team wanted to use social media to
increase the number of new memberships. Unlike their system, Facebook allowed a more powerful
referral source, directly from a friend or family member. This effort was able to drive more than
300,000 direct referrals in the first three months while integrating Facebook with the existing in store
system. 24 Hour Fitness currently ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Twitter, 24 Hour Fitness is direct in asking its followers to interact with its posts. This post is
successful because it asks followers to do a specific thing, and asks them to agree or disagree with a

Hour Fitness promotes the same material on Twitter and Facebook, just with a different introduction.
This ensures they widen the net for their content, catching people who might be on Facebook but aren

Instagram
24 Hour Fitness joined Instagram to increase the brand awareness, enhance and complement event

The Diversity Of Soil Invertebrates
Introduction: The diversity of soil invertebrates is very important to our ecosystem, because most soil
invertebrates are responsible for key soil processes such as nutrient recycling, nutrient retention,
formation of soil structure, and decomposition rates. Invertebrates are one of the most dominant
groups of animals in the world. Recent studies show that animals may constitute as much as 23% of
the total diversity of living organisms (Lavelle et al., 2006).
Common soil invertebrates include arthropods and nematodes. These soil invertebrates provide major
ecosystem services. For example, ants, dung beetles, ground beetles, earthworms, and slugs aid in
seed dispersal, which is important because seed dispersal is known to affect food production and
nutrient recycling as well as decomposition rates. Bees, butterflies, moths, and ants aid in pollination.
These invertebrates are very important because about three fourths of all plants are pollinator
dependent and insects tend to provide most of the animal pollination globally. Without pollinators
plant species would be more susceptible to extinction. In agricultural systems, invertebrate pollinators
are responsible for the successful production of vegetables and fruits that maintain livestock
production. Nematodes, annelids, and arthropods aid in decomposition (Prather et al., 2012)

the idea that women may be a threat to the masculinity of mental ward patients. The manipulation that

The manner in which the dominant characters attack the other s manhood demonstrates their methods
for manipulating the inferior characters under their control. The 4.diverse types of minority groups

The Buried Giant, By Kazou Ishiguro
Is having any type of memory important in our daily lives? If so, which do you remember the most of?
In Kazou Ishiguro s novel, The Buried Giant, Ishiguro deals with a couple named Axl and Beatrice,
who go into an adventure where they meet other characters such as a young Saxon warrior Edwin.
One theme that is constantly brought upon in the novel is the relevance of memory as a whole. Even
though the meaning of family is evident between the elderly couple, Beatrice and Axl, Ishiguro
generates a society and specifically for Axl, Beatrice, and Edwin where memory is lost and dreaded,
thereby creating the importance of memory signifying that we should value others and what we
remember by using abnormal dreams, remembering thoughts that unite ... Show more content on

Since the cloak badger is tight around her symbolizes that Beatrice has a special intimate connection
with Axl, because she is wearing this garment that is physically protecting her body. Therefore,
Beatrice is implying that she cannot let go of him. The caterpillar represents Axl who is crawling away
from her instead of being with her forever. As a result, Beatrice unconsciously fears that her husband
may eventually depart her. It is evident in this example, that memory has a connection with dreams, by
showing that we are able to incorporate values into people not only through a conscious state of mind,
but also unconsciously through dreams. Therefore, the dream reinforces the anxious fear of not only
losing someone physically, but also mentally. In addition, the current memory between Beatrice and
Axl brings them together. Even though memory is not the greatest attribute of Axl, he tends to
remember some positive ideas he learned from others. Axl utters, The time I m thinking of, you had on
the green cloak, and it was some festival day, and this same stranger, seeing I was your protector,
turned to me and said, she s the loveliest vision I ve seen so you be sure to take very good care of her
my friend (Ishiguro 77 78). The quote demonstrates the memory that has potential to create value into
other people, but only when it is remembered clearly. Considering that Axl does remember this

R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company Case Study
1. R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company was founded in 1875 and has grown to become one of the largest
operating tobacco countries in the world. This company was founded by Richard Joshua Reynolds,
who was a 25 year old who started his own chewing tobacco manufacturing operation in North
Carolina. Reynolds was the first to introduce pipe tobaccos and went on to revolutionize the entire
cigarette industry.
Reynolds American have always had a focus on innovation and transforming the tobacco industry,
which is prevalent not only in their business now, but also in their past success. For example, in 1931,
they were the first company to package cigarettes with a moisture proof, sealed cellophane outer wrap
which worked to preserve freshness. This had not been done before but helped them break away from
competitors as it was more enticing for consumers to purchase.
R.J. Reynolds has been acquiring multiple large companies in their industry so that their own
company can grow and continue to develop. In 1970, Reynolds Industries was formed as the new
parent company of R.J. Reynolds, then in 1985 they followed on to acquire Nabisco Brands and were
renamed to RJR Nabisco. Through 2002 to 2006, they acquired both Santa Fe Natural Tobacco
company and Conwood Company, giving Reynolds American incredible scale and strength within
their industry.

Ragtime Essay
Present in the different novels of E.L. Doctorow are many themes, ranging from the impact of
technology on society to the drastic effects of war. All of his books have something in common: the
prevalence of the American dream. The United States of America was founded around the fact that
anybody can come here and succeed with the right amount of effort. Ironically, the people that praise
the United States oppress blacks and other minorities so that they cannot succeed. In E.L. Doctorow s
Ragtime, Booker T. Washington advocates the abandonment of the pursuit of the American dream by
illustrating the sacrifices that many African Americans were willing to make to obtain racial peace.
The famous, black, nineteenth century politician Booker T. Washington plays a large role in Ragtime.
An actual quote from Washington in 1894 reads that he was indeed willing to give up the demand for
racial equality as well as political and civil rights in order to achieve the dream of racial peace.
Washington advocated that something had to be exchanged for racial harmony. Although Washington
clashed with other civil rights activists such as W.E.B. Dubois, and seemingly accepted segregation,
he was nonetheless recognized for his movement to promote racial peace among African Americans.
The foremost black educator and institution builder of his time was completely willing to have blacks

Computing Of Data And Homomorphic Encryption Essay
Introduction Cloud Services have become more popular as they provide a lot of advantages like high
speed processing ,Flexibility and Disaster recovery. The problem is Security of data and how to ensure
that data being processed at the cloud is secure The motivation behind choosing this topic is the many
advantages of Computing of encrypted data and homomorphic encryption (HE) like Delegation which
is when a client can delegate the process of data to the powerful third party (server) while still
maintaining data privacy. To this end, the client could send the server an encryption of the data,
created employing an HE scheme. The server is able to run processes over the encrypted data, and
return an output to the client; the client needs only to decrypt to receive the processed answer. The
server here can actually be a collection of computing devices (cloud). In addition to delegation, remote
file storage can be more than ever secure with Homomorphic encryption(HE), In a motivating
example, consider a user that wants to run a keyword search on its entire set of encrypted data.
Without HE, since the server can t tell which documents contain the keyword, it would be forced to
send the entire set of encrypted data back to the user, who could decrypt it and look for the keyword.
With HE, however, the server can simply run the keyword search algorithm with the encrypted
keyword and the set of encrypted data, and send an encrypted list of documents containing the
keyword back to the

Associated With ADHD
Medications as Associated with ADHD When children are little and not feeling well, all it took for
them to give that partially energetic smile was for either mommy or daddy to kiss where they were
hurting, or give them a hug to make them feel better. In today s times where feeling bad can be as
simple as a cold to a lifelong ailment like ADHD, the usage of medication can help whether it is
prescribed or over the counter. From the simplicity of an aspirin a day to help prevent a heart attack to
being prescribed morphine to aid in extreme pain cases. When it comes to any illness, medication can
be an essential factor in the recovery regiment or as the means to control the illness. ADHD is no

Strattera. According to Michael Smith, (2004), there has been cases of severe liver injury among
patients taking Strattera . As there is still inconclusive evidence as to how serious the side effects can
be due to the amount of variables like; the length of time it takes the medications to cause a side

undetermined information as to whether these variables can be a factor found in future studies and or

Microsoft Access As A Database Program
Even though Microsoft Access has been around for a while now many people still do not know how to
use it and are just learning about it. Some different kinds of people that use Microsoft Access include:
scientists, employees in large office firms, any kind of business major, and quite a few more. When it
comes to working with Microsoft Access, people should know what it even is, what the kinds of
benefits there are, and what some of the different components are.
Microsoft Access is a database program. According to What is Microsoft Access Used For? (2015),
Microsoft Access is an information management tool that helps you store information for reference,
reporting, and analysis. Microsoft Access helps you analyze large amounts of information, and
manage related data more efficiently than Microsoft Excel or other spreadsheet applications ( What is
Microsoft Access Used For? , 2015). Since Access helps analyze large amounts of information; it is
more commonly used in larger businesses. Although it is more common in larger businesses, small
businesses can still use Access. If a company or person in general outgrows Access database, it is very
easy to upgrade to the next option. The next option is using a Microsoft SQL Server. When someone
switches to Microsoft SQL Server from Microsoft Access, they can send all of their tables and data to
the server. They can also keep all of their reports, forms, and queries that were made and worked on
while using Microsoft Access. If

The Pros and Cons of Three Types of Online Communities-...
An online community is a network of people who come together and communicate online, usually
because of a common interest or goal. There are many different types of online communities. Some
examples of online communities are: email distribution lists, message boards and newsgroups, instant
message (IM) services, chat rooms, blogging sites, social networking sites such as MySpace and
Facebook, and online classrooms/school groups. I intend to discuss three of these types of online
communities chat rooms, social network sites, and online classrooms/school groups and look into the
pros and cons of using each of these. First, I will talk about internet chat rooms. A chat room is a site
where users can talk live to other users. Users ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is no face to face with online chat rooms. Chat rooms enable people to act or say things in ways
that they may not normally if they were face to face. This could also be a pro or a con, depending on
the situation. One last con of chat rooms would be that, although you can talk to other people almost
as if you were face to face instead of waiting for a response as you would have to with an email, you
still have to wait for the other person to be online. If you want to chat with someone and they are not
online, the chat room isn t going to do you much good. Sometimes people will prearrange times to get
online and chat with another person. This is one way to overcome this con. Next, I will discuss social
networking sites. Some examples of social networking sites would be MySpace, Facebook,
Classmates.com, and Twitter. Social networking can be a wonderful and fun way to keep in touch and
communicate with your family, friends, and colleagues. They can save you time and effort. If you
need to get in touch with someone, and you are both members of the same social networking site, you
can quickly and easily send him/her a message on the site. Instead of having to make arrangements
and plans to meet at a certain place, at a certain time, you can discuss things on the site. Social
networking sites can also be a great place to get in touch with old friends or talk to people that you

The driving forces saw big changes as the market began to grow. The first driving force that I noticed
was the sports potential that the industry had. With the acceptance of waterskiing into the Gravity
Games and World Games, the industry only became more attractive for more companies to pop up and
compete. Also, boat shows and both the national and regional level have helped to drive competition
to all time highs. These shows allow the main consumers to get different options from different
companies and help to drive competition to all time highs. The more bargaining power, the more
competition will be evident. Also, products and technological innovations are helping to drive
competition. Companies within the boating industry are always coming out with new, fresh ideas that
help to make their products more attractive compared to other companies. So the other companies
have to in turn do the same thus driving competition. Finally, the spare parts market is helping to drive
competition. New entrants into the boating industry can use the spare parts market to help build their
business into the industry and eventually become a major contributor to the overall market. All of
these forces pushing the market to change are in a way good for the

The Enjambment In Sirn Song By Margaret Atwood
The form of a poem tells a lot about its meaning. While analyzing the poem Siren Song by Margaret
Atwood, the structure helps the readers bring deeper meaning to the poem and be able to feel like they
are living within the plot. The most important form of this poem is the enjambment. The enjambment
helps the readers move at a faster pace and to get to the ending faster. Along with the enjambment,
Atwood did not apply a meter or any rhyme scheme to this poem. Not having these two aspects in the
structure of the poem is a significant aspect. Not having these two forms makes the poem seem more
like reading a story rather than reading a poem. This is crucial to the meaning because it makes the
readers appear as though they are a part of the story ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the help of the style of enjambment, there is a theme of somber and grief from the speaking siren
and is read from a storytelling point of view rather than being read like a regular poem. The
enjambment brings out these feelings of pain easier than if it were a poem with punctuation at the end
of every line making the readers pause more often. The enjambment diminishes at the end of the poem
and is crucial for the ending. The lines is a cry for help: help me! /only you, you can, (22 23) there is a
lot more punctuation here than in any other line in the poem. This lack of enjambment is meaningful
to the entire aspect of the poem because it makes it seem as though the readers have arrived to save
the Siren, but in reality, she has lured you into her death trap which she has been doing the entire time.
If these lines were styled like all the rest of the poem, the ending would not have had the same effect
and would have been much less suspenseful and intense. Due to their lack of enjambment and being
different from the rest of the poem, that is the reason why these few lines are so valuable to the entire
meaning as a

Theories Of Resilience
2.1. What is resilience?
The word resilience is derived from the Latin word resilire which translates as to bounce back , it can
be described as a dynamic process, encompassing positive adaptation within the context of significant
adversity (Luthar, Cicchetti, Becker, 2000). In cases where children have experienced trauma or are
living in high stress environments, resilience has been defined as the capacity to adapt and thrive
despite challenging and threatening circumstances (Masten, 2001). Resilience is not something some
children have a lot of , it is something that develops as a result of complex transactions between the
child and their environment (Sroufe, 1997). It is perceived as a crucial element in maintaining and

Key to promoting children s resilience is therefore, a greater understanding of these protective factors
that enable some children to be resilient (The Mental Health Foundation, 1999). There is evidence to
suggest that it is easier to change a younger child s behaviour than it is to change the behaviour of an
older child, indicating why early intervention is crucial (Smith, 2002). Considering the ecology of
human development framework theorized by Bronfenbrenner (1979) in relation to resilience displays
that interventions at multiple levels need to take place concurrently (Edwards et al,

Mr Leibniz, Philosopher And Philosopher
Forgive me, sir, but I must point out that when you contend that there is nothing in the soul of which it
is not aware, you are begging the question ... it is impossible that we should always reflect explicitly
on all our thoughts; for if we did, the mind would reflect on each reflection, ad infinitum, without ever
being able to move on to a new thought. For example, in being aware of some present feeling, I should
have always to think that I think about that feeling, and further to think that I think of thinking about
it, and so on ad infinitum. It must be that I stop reflecting on all these reflections, and that eventually
some thought is allowed to occur without being thought about; otherwise I would dwell for ever on the
same thing.
(NE II.i.19, 118)
To Mr Leibniz, Philosopher in Hanover
Sir,
You have attempted to show that we can think and not be aware of it by showing that Locke s
conception of consciousness leads to an infinite regress of reflections. If you had been successful in
showing it absurd that we explicitly reflect on all of our thoughts, Locke would have had to accept the
idea that we can think and yet not be aware of it. Therefore, it may be the case that the soul is indeed
in perpetual motion. The first premise of your argument is your interpretations of Locke s conception
of consciousness; the mind s explicit reflection of thoughts. On this account, whenever there is a
thought in my mind, there is a higher order reflection of that thought. It

building serves as a revival evoking memories from Greece and Rome. The façade itself consists of
six shafts or columns which indicate the ionic part of the Corinthian style structure. The Corinthian
style capitals are a piece of work; they take the viewer back in time. The Corinthian leaves and
beautifully carved flowers are clearly visible as if time had no effect on the buff terra cotta. The detail
is acute and precise, to the extent that beautiful is a dull word to describe the vision. The bases of the
columns are like a perfect structure that hold a grand shaft that leads to beauty on top. Furthermore,
each column is big, no, in fact they are huge, they are elegant in their design and seem to fit one

Learning Principles Classical Conditioning And...
Reading skills are essential to learning all other subjects taught in school. The sharper the reading
skills children have and the earlier they accumulate them will determine how rapidly and how well
they will achieve in school. That is why it is very crucial to get students motivated to read at a young
age. Research has consistently shown that children who are exposed to reading or who read regularly
gather long term benefits such as better academic performance, a mastery of language, better
communication skills and more logical thinking, Nevertheless many parents struggle with generating
ideas to encourage or motivate their children to read. There are three learning principles that can be
used to help parents help their children get motivated to read. Those learning principles are Classical
Conditioning, Operant Conditioning and Observational Learning.
Classical conditioning is the association of two stimuli and thus we learn to anticipate events.
Classical conditioning is a learning procedure that involve reflexes. Reflexes consist of the following:
Unconditioned Stimulus (US) a stimulus that evokes an unconditioned response without any prior
conditioning. Unconditioned Response (UR) an unlearned response to an unconditioned stimulus that
occurs without prior conditioning. Neutral Stimulus(NS) which is a stimulus that produces no specific
response. Conditioned Stimulus (CS) is the neutral stimulus after it has acquired the ability, through
conditioning, to elicit a

The Causes And Effects Of Propaganda During World War II
What is propaganda? Propaganda is the spreading of ideas information or rumors spread deliberately
to further one s cause or to damage an opposing cause. This concept can be really profitable and
influential when utilized towards a community of people. It becomes even more efficient when it s
employed in community filled with uncertainty. Before World War ll had begun most of Europe and
Asia was going through a period of uncertainty with new ideas and new dictatorship for
example, fascism, which had risen during the nineteenth century. In continuation, in the novel Making
sense of Tyranny states Accordingly there was little sense of that uncertainty and instability that
characterizes life in the classical dictatorship. (Simon Tormey). The quote documents how one of
logical reason that dictatorship is displayed is when uncertainty takes place. In addition of uncertainty,
the Great Depression was arising in the early 1900s, this gives another bulge of uncertainty. Moreover,
uncertainty leads to more citizens believing anything and everything being said by anyone even if it s
true or not which is the supremacy to efficacious propaganda. Now, during time of war the concept of
propaganda can be highly beneficial. Propaganda was highly authenticate during World War II, it
played a major contribution to war, and it s still in critical use till this day. So was propaganda the
weapon that killed six million jews, and can genocide happen again? Propaganda

Societal Marketing Concept
Individual Project 1
1. Given the trend in obesity among American consumers, which industries stand to benefit the most?
Why? Given the obesity issues in the American consumers, the food industry has benefited from this
trend. Under the Societal Marketing Concept organizations have to balance company profits,
customers wants and the society s interests. The problem is to determine what is best for the society in
this case. Because there is a difference between short term consumers wants and long term consumers
welfare (Brown, 2005). This issue can be very hard to handle, because it is not all companies market
with a social conscience. In one hand consumers say they want healthier foods, but in the other hand,

A leisure time survey that is linked to an expenditure survey would also make it possible to attach a
time cost to specific goods and arrive at an alternative price index. In the absence of this linkage, time
use data collected over multiple periods could provide insightful data on the specific trends in these
types of time expenditures. For example, if a lot of consumers spent 20% of their time watching TV,
we can determine that this can be a popular attract consumer s attention, via TV commercials (Joyce
Stewart, 1999).

Common Misconception Of The Brain s Five Stages Of Sleep
It is a common misconception that when we fall asleep, our brains go to sleep as well. This is most
definitely not the case. Our brain is hard at work while we sleep; making memories, cleansing toxins,
and many other activities. When falling asleep, our brains go through multiple stages, from triggering
a loss in consciousness to highly erratic activity. Sleeping has five stages to it, the first being the state
between wakefulness and sleep. This stage is often referred to as drowsy sleep due to the muscles in
the body still being fairly active and the eyes roll around a bit. In this stage the brainwaves transition
from erratic beta and gamma waves, which is the normal range of brain wavelengths when the body is
awake, to less erratic alpha ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The brain activity during REM sleep is mainly mixed brain waves consisting of theta, alpha and beta
waves. This is also the point in a sleep cycle where the body is basically rigid. The brain has shut off
all muscle movements other than the ones that keep you alive. This stage is a prime example of how
the brain is busy while we are sleeping, REM sleep begins with signals from an area at the base of the
brain called the pons. These signals travel to a brain region called the thalamus, which relays them to
the cerebral cortex the outer layer of the brain that is responsible for learning, thinking, and organizing
information. The pons also sends signals that shut off neurons in the spinal cord, causing temporary
paralysis of the limb muscles (Brain Basics). Being that REM sleep deals with learning, scientists
believe this is the reason infants sleep a large amount of time and also why they are more susceptible
to being woken up by the slightest noises. Since this stage of sleeping has a great deal of dreaming and
brain involvement some scientists believe that dreaming is the brain s way of sorting out information
it receives during sleep, creating a story out of what it gathers. REM sleep could be considered as a

Importance Of Being Thankful For
September 11, 2001 was a very traumatic day. After watching Flight 93, I realized that there are so
many things in this world to be thankful for. We never know when the last time you see someone,
really is going to be the last time. Death is unexpected and it s crazy how fast something can be taken
from us. That s why I am constantly reminding myself that there are more than enough things to be
thankful for. I am thankful for all of the men and women who risk their lives to protect us, for the
education and privileges that we have that other countries don t offer, and most of all, I am the most
thankful for my family and every one of my friends. Not many people thank the men and women who

Who Was The Most Responsible For The Tragic Events In Macbeth
Macdeath
You probably don t know who was most responsible for the tragic events that occur in the play. Well
you re in luck, I m going to show you who is responsible for all the tragic events that occur. I believe
that Macbeth is the cause of all the tragic events that occur in the play.
Macbeth causes the first tragic event in this play, which is the murder of King Duncan.
The text states, And on thy blade and dudgeon, gouts of blood (Shakespeare II.1.45). This text is
telling us that there is blood on Macbeth s dagger and who s blood would that be? You guessed it King
Duncan s blood. This is what started the whole blood thirsty and power thing for
Macbeth because soon after Macbeth found bloody daggers on the guards Macbeth killed them. The

Macbeth snaps him out of it, but later he sees the ghost again and is done for the night. Now you see
Macbeth is getting less innocent as this play goes on. He is pulling all of these tragic events out of thin
air, but there s more.
Some more time passes and Macbeth gets the idea that he should have Macduff s family murdered so
he calls more assassins and has them kill Macduff s wife and children which again are innocent
people. The text states, He has killed me, mother./ Run away , I pray you,/ [Lady
Macduff exits, crying Murder (Shakespeare IV.2.80 82). Soon Macduff hears about this news and he is
ready to kill Macbeth, so he gets his army to go to Macbeth s castle. Macbeth and
Macduff end up duking it out at the end. As always the good prevails and Macduff slayed
Macbeth and chopped his head off, which by the way is another tragic event.

The Powerful Gifts Of The Holy Spirit
The adversary causes plenty of division within the church over many issues. One debate in particular
is the charismatic gifts of the Holy Spirit. Fortunately, it s not the argument of whether or not the
charismatic spiritual gifts were part of the first century. However, the major issue at hand is whether or
not the charismatic spiritual gifts are still used in today s church, or not? There are many beliefs of
charismatic gifts, based off denominational sectors, church affiliations, personal experiences, and last
but not least interpretation or should I say misinterpretation of the Scriptures. Many believers of Christ
believe that the charismatic gifts cease after the Bible was established, and at the end of the Apostolic
age. This group is better known as cessationists. In contrast, there are believers that believe that the
charismatic gifts are prevalent, and available to believers today. This group is better known as
continuationists. This topic can really get out of hand on both sides of the debate. The one group that
says they have ceased, can be extreme by saying, people who believe they have charismatic spiritual
gifts they are demonic influenced . Then the opposing side says, if you don t believe that the
charismatic spiritual gifts are still in use, then you are not saved. In my personal opinion, theses
agitators are totally wrong. What is very interesting is that both views use the Scriptures to support
what they believe. However, there is a middle

Similarities Between Inherit The Wind And Robert E. Lee
Henry Norris Russel once said Conflict between science and religion a dangerous foe . Throughout
history, people have argued about the origin of mankind and tried to explain the unexplainable through
religion. These different views have caused segregation and disputes over what s right and wrong.
Intolerance towards outcasts, and consequences of extreme fundamentalism are demonstrated in
Inherit the Wind written by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee. The central focus of the play is the
trial of Bertram Cates, which debates the education of evolution. It reveals the importance of free
thought and the necessity for respect for views that differ from one s own. However, where there has
been a disagreement about views, conflict has sparked. It is not possible for two different views of
humankind s roots to exist side by side because non conformity can provoke conflict.

highlights how seriously he takes his beliefs, even if it means going against family. The effects of this
amplified because her father was the Reverend who preached a faith on the fear of God and
punishment of sinners. His use of faith as an excuse for his wrongful actions, and his excessive
fundamentalism amounts to him losing his own daughter, as demonstrated by the proverb He that
troubleth his own house...shall inherit the wind (67). To conclude, Rachel s non conformity with the
loathing views of the Hillsboro citizens for Cates, induce conflicts between her and her

Ford and Richardson (1994) the model of ethical decision making is generally detached by individual
factors and situational factors, which in situational factors is the most important.
Individual factors helps to understand the reason for some people perceive specific action to be
unethical whiles others do not. However, the decision making cannot simply be explained in terms of
these individual factors, because after all several people seems to have multiple ethical selves (Trevino
and Nelson 2007:180) that is, they make different decisions in different situations. Situational factors
accepted to be the most important.

We Grow Accustomed To The Night By Emily Dickinson Analysis
Darkness is perceived as many different things. It can be seen as a scary unknown or being able to
push forward without knowing what s ahead or around you. When someone looks at their past, they
normally see places filled with both light memories and dark memories. Emily Dickinson was a poet
whose life had many places of darkness. In her poem, We Grow Accustomed to the Dark, she is able
to look through the darkness as a new beginning. She doesn t allow it to consume her entirely. This
contrasts Robert Frost s, Acquainted with the Night he shows a person who becomes enveloped by the
darkness and the finality of it. While both of these contrast each other s opinions of what darkness is
and whether it s good or bad, they both keep the theme that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Dickinson uses the line, As when the Neighbor holds the lamp / To witness her Goodbye, (Stanza 1
Line 4) to use the light as an ending. A goodbye to whatever life had been known before. In Frost s
poem he uses goodbye as an ending as well, as if this is the narrator leaving on their own terms: But
not to call me back or say good bye. (Stanza 4 Line 1). Both authors use the entrance into the darkness
as a goodbye to someone or something, but in Dickinson s poem, it s as if the person is ready to leave
on their own terms. Whereas in Frost s he makes it seem like it was a decision that was regretted and
not fully the character s choice. The way they chose to use the dark as a goodbye, also shows the way
that they feel about the dark. Dickinson s is more about a person pulling away from someone, but
ready to deal with life themself until it s sorted out. Frost s way of saying goodbye as if the character
is reluctant to go makes it seem almost like the final goodbye, that no one s calling to have them

Mark Twain Writing Style Analysis
Mark Twain has a very unique writing style compared to the many other authors in the world.
Growing up, his father had died due to pneumonia, so he quit school to work as a printer s apprentice
with the Hannibal Journal to help support his family. Working at the Virginia City newspaper he began
using his new famous pen name, Mark Twain. From there, he published his first book in 1869 known
as, The Innocents Abroad. Mark Twain wrote many books that were inspired by his childhood,
traveling frequently, and his time spent in the library educating himself. Twain has a style that no
author will have as he wrote many of his books talking abouthis childhood. This attracts a lot of
attention from readers as he actually had not had a father in his life. In the book, The Adventures of
Huckleberry Finn, on page 134, it states, Yes, he s got a father, but you can t ever find him these days.
This means that although he does have a father, it does not necessarily mean that he is in his life.
Another childhood quote from the book, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, was stated on page
156. It states, I have never let my schooling interfere with my education. Although Twain was required
to attend school, he felt there was no substitute for educating himself through living life to the fullest.
The first hand accounts that Twain experienced during his childhood helped mold his ideas and views
of society. Another factor that influenced Twain s writing style was traveling frequently.

The Jerk Case Study
As living creature s animals and people iron is one of many essential minerals we that need to stay
alive. Iron is required to produce red blood cells through a process called haematopoiesis. It is also an
important component of the red blood cells (in hemoglobin) where the iron is present when that is
transporting oxygen from the lungs then throughout the body. Once the oxygen delivered the iron
binds to the carbon dioxide back to the lungs and the carbon is exhaled. It has many other functions:
maintain homeostasis, metabolism (conversion of blood sugar to energy, production of enzymes,
amino acids, new cells, hormones, etc.). The metabolisms process is allowing people to maintain
healthy cells of skin, nails, hair, internal organs, and everything else that allows a person to be alive.
However too little iron could cause a condition known as iron deficiency such as anemia. If someone
has too much iron it can cause a person to become toxic as the storage of iron increases it would cause
Hemochromatosis and other conditions. For the research, I have selected House: season three and
episode 23 The Jerk .

Exegetical Paper On I Corinthians 7
In I Corinthians 7, Paul declares that abandonment by an unbelieving spouse constitutes grounds for a
valid divorce. Paul clearly identifies this as an expansion of what Jesus has said (Matt. 5:31 32, 19:3
9) for he says, I say, not the Lord. As such, we can conclude that Paul considered his expansion to be
consistent with Jesus s teaching on divorce, even if Jesus himself had not explicitly taught it (or at
least it wasn t recorded). What we see in these two texts is a breakdown of the marriage covenant; one
spouse (or perhaps both) has decided to no longer be in covenant with the other either by means of
their unfaithful sexual behavior or by abandoning the other (including circumstances such as abuse).
What we can understand from this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As such, when this happens, there are grounds for a permissible divorce, as one spouse has utterly
shattered the marriage covenant with their spouse and God. Now, there is an obvious tension here.
Jesus reveals the spirit of the law within the SOM namely, that marriage was sacred, an echo of God s
covenant love, and now we are talking about permissible reasons for divorce. Paul s point wasn t that
we should seek our reason for a permissible divorce. Rather, Paul insists that we must not be quick to
jump at divorce, trying to find a reason or an excuse to get out. Divorce is permissible in some
situations, but it is rarely required. Divorce is a last resort when one spouse s heart has been so
hardened that they refuse to be before God and with and for their spouse as echo of God s covenant
love. But, what I believe Paul is articulating in this passage is that it is also wrong to demand one to
stay in a marriage that is no long a true marriage as one part has broken the covenant. So much more
to say and clarify, but alas I ve already blown passed 150

  • 2. Looking Into the Past in Vonnegut s Slaughter House-Five... Looking Into the Past in Vonnegut s Slaughter House Five In the spring of 1945, near the end of World War II, American and British bombers rained a hail of fire upon the city of Dresden, Germany. With an estimated 135,000 dead, Dresden is known as one of the deadliest attacks in History, nearly twice as many deaths than the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. Kurt Vonnegut was among the few who lived through the firestorm; he wrote a book about it in fact. Slaughter House Five (1969) is a fictional recount of his experience of the war. Many of the events (at least the parts set in WWII) are real experiences of Kurt. The people in the war are, for the most part, real; Vonnegut just changes all the names. The main character, however does not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This isn t Billy s first travel through time, just the most important. Back in Germany, the American troops arrive at what will be their lodging for the next few days. The Americans eventually move to a prison in Dresden. They are put to work, going on with their prisoner lives in what some seems to be a peaceful German city during the war. Of course, there is no surprise when the sirens shriek and planes fly by, dropping their deadly arsenal on the city below. Billy and a few other men live through the bombing and find the city as desolate as the moon. Slaughter House Five is obviously an anti war book, but there s more to it than that. Vonnegut believes that the human trait of looking back can make us aware of our problems (such as war) and, hopefully, be able to fix them in the future. From the beginning to the end, Billy never stops time traveling. He travels to times ranging from his childhood to his death and back again. Billy s time travels aren t like time travel that you normally think of, with the time machines and the parallel time lines (think Back to the Future: Part Two.) When Billy travels through time, he just starts living different parts of his life. Everyone in their mind looks back at the past, and goes over and over and over mistakes that they made or traumatic events that occurred in their life. For some people, these moments in their minds can be as real as if they were living them over again, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Understanding Children s Creative Thought Discussion #2: Foundations of Creative Thought Destinee D. Scott Ms. Brinkley Creative Arts CD 367 001 Alcorn State University May 30, 2018 Abstract This discussion post explores chapters one and two from the text Creative Thinking and Arts Based Learning: Preschool through Fourth Grade (Seventh Edition) by authors Joan Packer Isenberg and Mary Renck Jalongo. Using my textbook, I will identify the importance of understanding children s creative thought and expression. As children age from preschool to fourth grade, their creativity advances from knowing only initials and blurting out small communication amongst each other to learning how to come together and work in groups to accomplish a project. In addition, I will also explain the effectiveness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It supports children s growth and learning across ages, domains, and cultural. Isenberg and Jalongo (2018) also explain that games support cognitive skills such as decision making and problem solving abilities; language skills such as speaking and listening; social skills such as turn taking and cooperating; self regulation skills such as exercising control over their emotions, thinking, and actions; and physical skills such as writing and drawing. The four types of cognitive play are functional play, symbolic play, constructive play, and games with rules (Isenberg and Jalongo, 2018). In addition, social play develops from solitary play in preschoolers to cooperative play in fourth graders. Teachers perform six roles when supporting children s play: observer, collaborator, planner, responder, role model, and mediator. From my understanding, all of the roles must be completed to support children s growth and learning through ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. The Diversity Of Soil Invertebrates Introduction: The diversity of soil invertebrates is very important to our ecosystem, because most soil invertebrates are responsible for key soil processes such as nutrient recycling, nutrient retention, formation of soil structure, and decomposition rates. Invertebrates are one of the most dominant groups of animals in the world. Recent studies show that animals may constitute as much as 23% of the total diversity of living organisms (Lavelle et al., 2006). Common soil invertebrates include arthropods and nematodes. These soil invertebrates provide major ecosystem services. For example, ants, dung beetles, ground beetles, earthworms, and slugs aid in seed dispersal, which is important because seed dispersal is known to affect food production and nutrient recycling as well as decomposition rates. Bees, butterflies, moths, and ants aid in pollination. These invertebrates are very important because about three fourths of all plants are pollinator dependent and insects tend to provide most of the animal pollination globally. Without pollinators plant species would be more susceptible to extinction. In agricultural systems, invertebrate pollinators are responsible for the successful production of vegetables and fruits that maintain livestock production. Nematodes, annelids, and arthropods aid in decomposition (Prather et al., 2012) Materials and Methods: The experiment began with the construction of a Berlese funnel, which is an apparatus used to extract ... In Kazou Ishiguro s novel, The Buried Giant, Ishiguro deals with a couple named Axl and Beatrice, who go into an adventure where they meet other characters such as a young Saxon warrior Edwin. One theme that is constantly brought upon in the novel is the relevance of memory as a whole. Even though the meaning of family is evident between the elderly couple, Beatrice and Axl, Ishiguro generates a society and specifically for Axl, Beatrice, and Edwin where memory is lost and dreaded, thereby creating the importance of memory signifying that we should value others and what we remember by using abnormal dreams, remembering thoughts that unite ... Since the cloak badger is tight around her symbolizes that Beatrice has a special intimate connection with Axl, because she is wearing this garment that is physically protecting her body. Therefore, Beatrice is implying that she cannot let go of him. The caterpillar represents Axl who is crawling away from her instead of being with her forever. As a result, Beatrice unconsciously fears that her husband may eventually depart her. It is evident in this example, that memory has a connection with dreams, by showing that we are able to incorporate values into people not only through a conscious state of mind, but also unconsciously through dreams. Therefore, the dream reinforces the anxious fear of not only losing someone physically, but also mentally. In addition, the current memory between Beatrice and Axl brings them together. Even though memory is not the greatest attribute of Axl, he tends to remember some positive ideas he learned from others. Axl utters, The time I m thinking of, you had on the green cloak, and it was some festival day, and this same stranger, seeing I was your protector, turned to me and said, she s the loveliest vision I ve seen so you be sure to take very good care of her my friend (Ishiguro 77 78). Doctorow are many themes, ranging from the impact of technology on society to the drastic effects of war. All of his books have something in common: the prevalence of the American dream. The United States of America was founded around the fact that anybody can come here and succeed with the right amount of effort. Ironically, the people that praise the United States oppress blacks and other minorities so that they cannot succeed. In E.L. Doctorow s Ragtime, Booker T. Washington advocates the abandonment of the pursuit of the American dream by illustrating the sacrifices that many African Americans were willing to make to obtain racial peace. The famous, black, nineteenth century politician Booker T. Washington plays a large role in Ragtime. An actual quote from Washington in 1894 reads that he was indeed willing to give up the demand for racial equality as well as political and civil rights in order to achieve the dream of racial peace. Washington advocated that something had to be exchanged for racial harmony. Although Washington clashed with other civil rights activists such as W.E.B. Dubois, and seemingly accepted segregation, he was nonetheless recognized for his movement to promote racial peace among African Americans. The foremost black educator and institution builder of his time was completely willing to have blacks remain subordinate to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Computing Of Data And Homomorphic Encryption Essay Introduction Cloud Services have become more popular as they provide a lot of advantages like high speed processing ,Flexibility and Disaster recovery. The problem is Security of data and how to ensure that data being processed at the cloud is secure The motivation behind choosing this topic is the many advantages of Computing of encrypted data and homomorphic encryption (HE) like Delegation which is when a client can delegate the process of data to the powerful third party (server) while still maintaining data privacy. To this end, the client could send the server an encryption of the data, created employing an HE scheme. The server is able to run processes over the encrypted data, and return an output to the client; the client needs only to decrypt to receive the processed answer. The server here can actually be a collection of computing devices (cloud). In addition to delegation, remote file storage can be more than ever secure with Homomorphic encryption(HE), In a motivating example, consider a user that wants to run a keyword search on its entire set of encrypted data. Without HE, since the server can t tell which documents contain the keyword, it would be forced to send the entire set of encrypted data back to the user, who could decrypt it and look for the keyword. With HE, however, the server can simply run the keyword search algorithm with the encrypted keyword and the set of encrypted data, and send an encrypted list of documents containing the keyword back to the ... There are many different types of online communities. Some examples of online communities are: email distribution lists, message boards and newsgroups, instant message (IM) services, chat rooms, blogging sites, social networking sites such as MySpace and Facebook, and online classrooms/school groups. I intend to discuss three of these types of online communities chat rooms, social network sites, and online classrooms/school groups and look into the pros and cons of using each of these. There is no face to face with online chat rooms. Chat rooms enable people to act or say things in ways that they may not normally if they were face to face. This could also be a pro or a con, depending on the situation. One last con of chat rooms would be that, although you can talk to other people almost as if you were face to face instead of waiting for a response as you would have to with an email, you still have to wait for the other person to be online. If you want to chat with someone and they are not online, the chat room isn t going to do you much good. Sometimes people will prearrange times to get online and chat with another person. This is one way to overcome this con. Next, I will discuss social networking sites. Some examples of social networking sites would be MySpace, Facebook, Classmates.com, and Twitter. Social networking can be a wonderful and fun way to keep in touch and communicate with your family, friends, and colleagues. They can save you time and effort. If you need to get in touch with someone, and you are both members of the same social networking site, you can quickly and easily send him/her a message on the site. • 15. The Enjambment In Sirn Song By Margaret Atwood The form of a poem tells a lot about its meaning. While analyzing the poem Siren Song by Margaret Atwood, the structure helps the readers bring deeper meaning to the poem and be able to feel like they are living within the plot. The most important form of this poem is the enjambment. The enjambment helps the readers move at a faster pace and to get to the ending faster. Along with the enjambment, Atwood did not apply a meter or any rhyme scheme to this poem. Not having these two aspects in the structure of the poem is a significant aspect. Not having these two forms makes the poem seem more like reading a story rather than reading a poem. With the help of the style of enjambment, there is a theme of somber and grief from the speaking siren and is read from a storytelling point of view rather than being read like a regular poem. The enjambment brings out these feelings of pain easier than if it were a poem with punctuation at the end of every line making the readers pause more often. The enjambment diminishes at the end of the poem and is crucial for the ending. The lines is a cry for help: help me! /only you, you can, (22 23) there is a lot more punctuation here than in any other line in the poem. This lack of enjambment is meaningful to the entire aspect of the poem because it makes it seem as though the readers have arrived to save the Siren, but in reality, she has lured you into her death trap which she has been doing the entire time. If these lines were styled like all the rest of the poem, the ending would not have had the same effect and would have been much less suspenseful and intense. • 16. Theories Of Resilience 2.1. What is resilience? The word resilience is derived from the Latin word resilire which translates as to bounce back , it can be described as a dynamic process, encompassing positive adaptation within the context of significant adversity (Luthar, Cicchetti, Becker, 2000). In cases where children have experienced trauma or are living in high stress environments, resilience has been defined as the capacity to adapt and thrive despite challenging and threatening circumstances (Masten, 2001). • 17. Mr Leibniz, Philosopher And Philosopher Forgive me, sir, but I must point out that when you contend that there is nothing in the soul of which it is not aware, you are begging the question ... it is impossible that we should always reflect explicitly on all our thoughts; for if we did, the mind would reflect on each reflection, ad infinitum, without ever being able to move on to a new thought. For example, in being aware of some present feeling, I should have always to think that I think about that feeling, and further to think that I think of thinking about it, and so on ad infinitum. It must be that I stop reflecting on all these reflections, and that eventually some thought is allowed to occur without being thought about; otherwise I would dwell for ever on the same thing. (NE II.i.19, 118) To Mr Leibniz, Philosopher in Hanover Sir, You have attempted to show that we can think and not be aware of it by showing that Locke s conception of consciousness leads to an infinite regress of reflections. If you had been successful in showing it absurd that we explicitly reflect on all of our thoughts, Locke would have had to accept the idea that we can think and yet not be aware of it. Therefore, it may be the case that the soul is indeed in perpetual motion. The first premise of your argument is your interpretations of Locke s conception of consciousness; the mind s explicit reflection of thoughts. On this account, whenever there is a thought in my mind, there is a higher order reflection of that thought. It ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The sharper the reading skills children have and the earlier they accumulate them will determine how rapidly and how well they will achieve in school. That is why it is very crucial to get students motivated to read at a young age. Research has consistently shown that children who are exposed to reading or who read regularly gather long term benefits such as better academic performance, a mastery of language, better communication skills and more logical thinking, Nevertheless many parents struggle with generating ideas to encourage or motivate their children to read. There are three learning principles that can be used to help parents help their children get motivated to read. Those learning principles are Classical Conditioning, Operant Conditioning and Observational Learning. Classical conditioning is the association of two stimuli and thus we learn to anticipate events. Classical conditioning is a learning procedure that involve reflexes. Reflexes consist of the following: Unconditioned Stimulus (US) a stimulus that evokes an unconditioned response without any prior conditioning. Before World War ll had begun most of Europe and Asia was going through a period of uncertainty with new ideas and new dictatorship for example, fascism, which had risen during the nineteenth century. In continuation, in the novel Making sense of Tyranny states Accordingly there was little sense of that uncertainty and instability that characterizes life in the classical dictatorship. • 23. Common Misconception Of The Brain s Five Stages Of Sleep It is a common misconception that when we fall asleep, our brains go to sleep as well. This is most definitely not the case. Our brain is hard at work while we sleep; making memories, cleansing toxins, and many other activities. When falling asleep, our brains go through multiple stages, from triggering a loss in consciousness to highly erratic activity. Sleeping has five stages to it, the first being the state between wakefulness and sleep. This stage is often referred to as drowsy sleep due to the muscles in the body still being fairly active and the eyes roll around a bit. In this stage the brainwaves transition from erratic beta and gamma waves, which is the normal range of brain wavelengths when the body is awake, to less erratic alpha ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The brain activity during REM sleep is mainly mixed brain waves consisting of theta, alpha and beta waves. This is also the point in a sleep cycle where the body is basically rigid. The brain has shut off all muscle movements other than the ones that keep you alive. This stage is a prime example of how the brain is busy while we are sleeping, REM sleep begins with signals from an area at the base of the brain called the pons. These signals travel to a brain region called the thalamus, which relays them to the cerebral cortex the outer layer of the brain that is responsible for learning, thinking, and organizing information. The pons also sends signals that shut off neurons in the spinal cord, causing temporary paralysis of the limb muscles (Brain Basics). Being that REM sleep deals with learning, scientists believe this is the reason infants sleep a large amount of time and also why they are more susceptible to being woken up by the slightest noises. Since this stage of sleeping has a great deal of dreaming and brain involvement some scientists believe that dreaming is the brain s way of sorting out information it receives during sleep, creating a story out of what it gathers. Paul clearly identifies this as an expansion of what Jesus has said (Matt. 5:31 32, 19:3 9) for he says, I say, not the Lord. As such, we can conclude that Paul considered his expansion to be consistent with Jesus s teaching on divorce, even if Jesus himself had not explicitly taught it (or at least it wasn t recorded). Paul s point wasn t that we should seek our reason for a permissible divorce. Rather, Paul insists that we must not be quick to jump at divorce, trying to find a reason or an excuse to get out. Divorce is a last resort when one spouse s heart has been so hardened that they refuse to be before God and with and for their spouse as echo of God s covenant love.
