Personality Theory Research Paper
Another part of creating a personality theory is the debate between uniqueness versus
commonality which I have briefly discussed. I believe that every person is unique because no two
people have gone through identical life experiences, nor have they been influenced in the exact
same way by their environments and people around them. With that being said, I also believe that
human beings have many things in common like how they deal with and react to certain situations.
We are also alike in our need for a place in the world and acceptance from others. Because I believe
that humans are both unique and common, I believe that both idiographic and nomothetic research
are important in learning how humans behave and who they will become. A lot of... Show more

Another theory that is very reminiscent of behaviorism is the mechanistic theory in which humans
do not engage in cognition, but rather respond automatically to stimuli in their environment. The
animalistic theory also does not give humans enough credit, which would be the exact opposite of
humanistic psychology. It states that we as humans act in the same ways as animals, namely
primates, and while we do share some behaviors and some amount of intelligence, I do not think
that there are enough commonalities to completely say that we are the same. Another theory of
human nature is the evolutionary psychological theory which states that we have inherent
behaviors that have been passed down through the generations since the inception of humankind. I
think that the theory of evolutionary psychology does have some grounds because humans as a
species have adapted and we are born with certain knowledge and gut instincts about the world, but
I do not think that this theory can completely encapsulate human nature. I do not agree with the
humanistic theory of human nature because I do not believe that humans are born good, but
instead mostly neutral and that we engage in whatever practices or behaviors that we have decided
to engage

What Is The Impact Of The 1920 s
The film The General (Keaton 1926) was made during a time when Hollywood and worldwide film
going made a vast expansion. Before the invention of the projector in 1895, those who seeked visual
entertainment opted for optical toys, shadow shows, magic lanterns and visual tricks. After this
invention and years of experimentation, filmhad swept across the world, with the 1920 s having
some of the greatest impact on its history. The 1920 s was the decade known for Picture Palaces
or Movie Palaces , which were large, elaborately snd classically decorated movie theaters that
could fit nearly 2,000 patrons. Genres that had not been very recognized, such as horror and
romantic comedies, developed rapidly and successfully, and ended up

Antibiotics And Antibiotic Resistance
When a bacteria is exposed to antibiotics, they are not always guaranteed to die. This is called
antibiotic resistance. Sometimes antibiotics can only stop the bacteria from multiplying (make it
stagnate), and other times it causes the bacteria to multiply even more. These three results depend
on antibiotic concentration, bacterial mutation, and bacterial genetic exchange. One big factor in
the resistance bacteriashow towards antibiotics is antibioticconcentration. Usually, if large
amounts of an antibiotic are attacking a bacteria it will stop the multiplication process and even
kill it off, but if there is small amounts of antibiotic it will allow the bacteria to continue to spread.
You can find many bacteria in a jelly like biofilm which provides a shield to them.... Show more

The bacteria can form the ability to completely remove the antibiotic from its cell.
3.The wall of the bacteria can create a barrier to keep the antibiotic from getting in.
4.The bacteria become accustomed to a new way of handling energy.
Scientists have to keep up with the bacteria s mutations, and it may require them making a new
antibiotic for each one.
The third and final factor in bacterial resistance to antibiotics is bacterial genetic exchange. It is
very common for bacteria to share genetic info between cells even if the bacteria are not the same
species. When this happens, genes and DNA get mixed into different species allowing more
mutations against the antibiotics.
The only way for scientists to know if the bacteria is going to resist their antibiotic is for them to
perform tests. Even if the antibiotic proves to work in their experiment, scientists can never tell
when the bacteria is going to mutate and possibly gain new defenses that can deactivate their
antibiotic. Antibiotic concentration, bacterial mutation, and bacterial genetic exchange are all
responsible for bacterial resistance against antibiotics, and make it very difficult to create antibiotics

THE HISTORY
Financial management has a long and distinguished history. Consider, for example, that Socrates
wrote about the universal function of management in human endeavors in 400 B.C. and that Plato
developed the concept of specialization for efficiency in 350 B.C. Evidence of sophisticated
financial management exists for much earlier times: the Chinese produced a planning and control
system in 1100 B.C., a minimum wage system was developed by Hammurabi in 1800 B.C., and
the Egyptians and Sumerians developed planning and record keeping systems in 4000 B.C.1 Many

They usually perform much of the strategic planning for the organization. 2. The process view.
These managers generally work with the system of the organization. They may be responsible for
data accumulation. They are often affiliated with the information system hierarchy in the
organization. 3. The clinical view. These managers generally are responsible for service delivery.
They have direct interaction with the patients and are responsible for clinical outcomes of the
organization.
The Elements of Financial Management 5
Managers must, of necessity, interact with one another. Thus, managers holding different views
will be required to work together. Their concerns will intersect to some degree, as illustrated by
Figure 1 1. The nonfinancial manager who understands healthcare finance will be able to interpret
and negotiate successfully such interactions between and among viewpoints. In summary, financial
management is a discipline with a long and respected history. Healthcare service delivery is a
business, and the concept of financial management assists in balancing the inflows and outflows
that are a part of the business.

The Pros And Cons Of Social Stereotypes
Stereotype threat is a social phenomenon where a member of a negatively stereotyped group
performs poorly when reminded of that stereotype (Beilock, Jellison, Rydell, McConnell, Carr,
2006). For example, previous studies have shown that when primed with a negative stereotype
African Americans perform worse on intellectual tasks (Steele, Aronson, 1995), and women
perform worse at math (Spencer, Steele, Quinn, 1999). The main component of stereotypethreat is
that it impairs working memory(Schmader, Forbes, Johns, 2008). Working memory is a short term
memory system that is involved in the control, regulation, and active maintenance of a limited
amount of information with immediate relevance to the task at hand (Miyake Shah, 1999). So
essentially as one works on a task, working memory keeps all the important information ready for
quick access, which is crucial for performance in almost every domain. Previous studies have
shown that working memory capacity is a direct mediator between stereotype threat and impaired
mental performance (Schmader, Johns, 2003). At a cognitive level, working memory is a limited
capacity resource that can become depleted if it is attending to multiple domains. If depleted there
is less capacity available to control a task s execution and information processing demands
(Schmader, Johns, 2003). Many different studies have contested how it is that stereotype threat
impairs performance. For example, in Steele and Aronson s

The Ford Mustang Essays
A highly popular muscle and sports car, the Ford Mustang functions as a daily driver, weekend
warrior, and a show winning work of mechanical art. Whether someone just needs a basic
transportation to get from point A to point B, an eight second quarter mile beast, or a show
stopping work of power and beauty, Ford has produced a Mustang for every need. The Mustang
got its name from the World War II P 51 Mustang fighter plane (Harris). The five generations
evolved each year model until, in response to the 1971 1973 models, Ford returned the car to its
original size and concept in 1974 (Bowling). The first generation of the Mustangs appeared in 1964
and lasted through 1973. On March 9, 1964,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, this car interests me because at the price one could completely personalize his or
her dream Mustang for only $2,320. Ford would sell close to 417,000 Mustangs within the first
year (Tucker). In August 1964, Carol Shelby approached Lee Daocca, President of Fomoco at
the time. Shelby had a vision to create a high performance Mustang and Shelby wanted a car that
could hold its own both on and off the track. Once Shelby received approval to move forward on
the project, he created a fastback 2+2 Mustang (Kelly). This model Mustang only had front
bucket seats and a console but no back seat, which earned it the name fastback 2+2. This model
mustang came equipped with a four speed manual transmission for more torque, one of the
fastest cars of its day. The 2+2 fastback Mustang remains my favorite model Mustang of this year
because it had a sleeker, aerodynamic design, and featured a larger engine, the 289 cu in, which
produced a whopping 306 horsepower (Tucker1). The official name for this 2+2 fastback
Mustang was the Shelby GT 350: Ford named it this for street purposes (Kelly). In the fall of
1964, Ford included an entirely new Mustang engine lineup and the addition of the GT group.
The 200 cu in six cylinder engine replaced the 170 cu in six cylinder engine, thus increasing the
six cylinder s performance from 101 horsepower to 120 horsepower. The 289 cu in replaced the 260

Auditory Distraction
The purpose of this experiment was to test how auditory distractions, or background noise,
affects a person s reaction time. Believing that if there were people talking in the background,
then a person s reaction time would be slower because they would be more distracted. We tested
30 people, separated into two groups, using a reaction time stick and noise cancelling headphones.
The first group had no noise, using the noise cancelling headphones, and the reaction times ranged
from 180 to 265. The second group, with background noise played through the headphone, had
reaction times ranging from 135 to 280. The results for both groups were very similar in that the
mean of the data for the group with no noise was 215.4 and the mean of the group with background
noise was 214.2. This shows that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A study done in 2009 showed that NR [noise reduction] reduces listening effort and frees up
cognitive resources for other tasks. (Sarampalis, A., Kalluri, S., Edwards, B., Hafter, E., 2009).
Studies also show that low frequency noise at levels normally occurring in office like environments
may influence work performance and subjective perception of annoyance and lead to work
impairment. (Waye, K., Bengtsson, J., Kjellberg, A., Benton, S., 2001). It is also very common for
people to listen to music while driving and if they don t listen to music there is outside noise,
such as traffic that can affect the way they react and perform. A study done in 2015 on the effect
of road traffic noise on reaction time showed that even exposure to traffic noise leads to increase in
reaction time. (Alimohammadi, I., Zokaei, M., Sandrock, S., 2015). These studies show that even
while people may not recognize that noise is affecting them it is and it can be causing problems

Dandelion Wine, written by Ray Bradbury, is the story of Douglas Spaulding and the events of his
1928 summer. Over the next few months Douglas has multiple revelations, all while experiencing
traumatic incidents that make him question everything he knows. Some of the major revelations
that he encounters include realizing that both he is alive, and also that some day he will have to
die. Although these seem like basic ideas that everyone should know, to Douglas it was
extraordinary news that made him see the world in front of him so much clearer than ever before.

Chemistry Lab On And Electric Vehicle
I ve learned so much from working and competing in Science Olympiad. There were four
competitions that were scheduled for me to compete in: Forensics, Chemistry Lab, Game On and
Electric Vehicle. There was a lot of preparation and commitment that had to be put in. A slight
mishap happened in Forensics we found out that only two teams could compete, so my team had to
drop out , ChemistryLab was mainly basic kinetics and gas laws during GameOn we had to learn
Scratch and then use that knowledgeto create a game, The last event was Keltic Vehicle, in this
event we had to pre design a vehicle. It would be scored by how accurate it was. I am glad I was

It helped working together because we could share ideas to each other. The Scratch program was
simple and easy to master. We did really well at studying and mastering the program.
There were some issues with designing the background and characters. The limited time made it
hard to make a complicated and interesting game. The game wasn t as accurate as we had hoped
but it was one of my favorites. We also actually knew what we were doing. With the knowledge
in Scratch I know that I ll do better next year. Doing gome on made me realise how much I
enjoyed programming, and I know that skill will come in handy later in life.
For Electric Vehicle I learned that time is very important with designing and programming but
working on the vehicle was different we remodeled it about three times to make it work
correctly and stop swerving to the left. The rules were simple: make the vehicle come to a
complete stop when it hits the set distance. Our way of building the vehicle was to base it on a
click system; in the system we had buttons that had a certain amount of time it would make the
motors go for. The rules stated that the vehicle had to be between nine to twelve meters , (in
distance of which it could travel), but at the competition it was eleven meters. When preparing for
the distance runs we had to figure out how many clicks it took to go one meter. Unfortunately, it
was a little more complex; it accelerated so it didn t go at a linear rate,

Romeo And Juliet Fate Vs Free Will
William Shakespeare once said, Everyone has their fate, and the more people try to avoid it, the
more trouble they get into. In the story Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare, set in the fair
city of Verona, Italy, Romeo and Juliet must keep their love hidden from their two feuding
families, the Montagues and the Capulets. After Romeo is banished from the city, he and Juliet
will sacrifice everything including their lives for each other. The tragic love story of these two
star crossed lovers has influenced our society and culture with movies like Titanic and The
Outsiders where fate has a clear influence in these classic stories of forbidden love. By looking at
Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare delivers a message about life, suggesting that our lives our

that by falling in love with Juliet, a Capulet, he s risking his own life for his one true love. He
believes that the romantic relationship with Juliet will be the death of him because of their families

brought both Romeo and Juliet together at the Capulet s party. Furthermore, Shakespeare
emphasizes fate with the moment they meet each other, but also with the banishment of

Closely Watching Milos
Closely Watched Trains was directed by JiЕ™ГMenzel in Czechoslovakia in 1966. Telling the
story of a boy who obtains a job at the local railroad stop as a station guard, the movie shows the
experience of Milos as he explores sexuality and growing up.The film shows Milos before he gains
his manhood as weak, unintelligent, and isolated from the other men. Using techniques such as
cross cutting and low angles, the director is able to show how after losing his virginity, Milos is no
longer foolish and innocent and his newfound manhood causes him to have the qualities that
parallel what is respected by the Soviet community, such as intelligence and confidence allowing
him to blow up a Nazi trainand become a hero. Throughout the majority of the film, Milos is
depicted as a simple, fragile teen. The film opens with a scene in which his mother is dressing
his for his first day of work. The director pans from his feet to his head, ending with a close up
shot so we can see the entirety of Milos and his nerves on his face as he heads into work. When
he gets to work and sits at a desk, the filmmaker uses jump cuts to show different actions going on
around the room and then cuts to Milos looking around. This shows the audience how Milos is
innocent and daydreaming as opposed to doing the work he should be doing. He seems childlike
and foolish as he can not maintain focus on his work. As the film progresses, the director employs
cross cutting many times which shows Milos

All Weddings Have Memorable Moments
All weddings have memorable moments. Memorable moments serve as highlights, or
lowlights,to recall on subsequent anniversaries. Some, like ours, still cause my heart to palpitate
as I recall that ill conceived phone call. To understand its significance you must understand that I
began our courtship as a fourth stringer behind Doug, Harry and John (Names are changed to
protect the guilty). All had had significant relationships with my June when I joined the taxi
squad. None were on waivers. All were still in contention for capturing the coveted starter
position as fiancГ©e. I was perhaps the weakest suitor in terms of wealth and personality, but I
had the strength of physical position since we both taught in the same school system, in the
same building, only two floors apart. The other contenders lived miles away. My June always
says that timing is everything which was the case in our courtship. At that point in her life she
was a willing receiver for my passes and after a whirlwind courtship she succumbed to my naive
charms and agreed to be my bride. So it was that I made the jump from fourth to first string and
was the unchallenged game winner or so I thought. Certain things, like that memorable phone call,
are preceded by other plays that a more seasoned starter would have foreseen as predictive. But I
was new at the game. One such play came when I took June to homecoming at the university from
which we had both graduated. We were walking out of a restaurant not

Public Displays Of A Public Display
Problem As displays are often located in areas where meetings take place, informal get togethers
happen or visiting guests are welcomed, we believe that they would provide a great opportunity
to act as some form of common space not only to share information between physically present
persons but also to exchange information with the display itself. For example, consider a visitor
who wants to show pictures from his recent tour to his friends or he suddenly decides to give a
presentation of his latest work while having a chat in a company s coffee area. It can be quite
cumbersome for all his friends to gather around the rather small mobile phone screen. Instead,
he would like to utilize any existing public display nearby to temporarily leverage the larger
screen for picture sharing or presentation purposes. However, such pervasive displays are
normally used only as output devices and do not allow user to interact with their operations.
Moreover, most public display do not provide any means of interaction with it nor is there an
easy way to add user content to be displayed. Instead, they automatically display contents that get
it from a central repository or web service and often this cycle have been in a pre determined way
(Geel, 2013). Literature Review Public displays have becoming increasingly prevalent within
public places such as train stations, airports and museums in order to disseminate information from
one central screen to a large audience (Lee et al, 2011). The

Evolution Of Bmw Group Its Routes And Explain When, Where,...
The automobile industry is one of the biggest industries worldwide. In the 21st century almost
everyone around the world drives a car. Development of the global economy increasingly has led to
increase the demand of automobiles globally. Automobile ownership is no longer a luxury but a
necessity. Globalization has translated into increasing wealth worldwide and in turn increased
demand for automobiles globally particularly in newly emerging economies. BMWGroup like the
rest of the Automobile manufacturers has also recognized that trend and had joined a number of
other corporations and has become a transnational corporation, corporations with no border. In this

Essay about Tsar s Survival of the 1905 Revolution
Tsar s Survival of the 1905 Revolution
In 1905 tsarism suffered a dreadful battering, Tsar Nicolas III had to cope with opposition from all
sides. The workers and the army were unhappy with their working conditions; they wanted
minimum wage and more rights. The peasants wanted more land and the liberals wanted a better
political system that was more democratic and gave them more say in how the country was run. He
had to contend with numerous strikes, uprisings, assassinations and mutinies. It is surprising,
therefore than the Tsar managed to remain in his throne throughout 1905.
Lack of co ordination of his opponents played a large part in ensuring the survival of Tsar during

The Tsars guards open fired on the marchers, killing around 200 people, including women and
children. This tragic event is often thought of as the catalyst that started the Revolution; it damaged
the parental image of the Tsar and evoked a wave of protest.
Russia was not united in her attempt to change the government, the peasants, workers liberals,
soldiers, students… did not work together to co ordinate their agitation on the Tsar. The
groups all had different motives and aims; the workers and soldiers wanted better working
conditions while the peasants were only focused on gaining more land, had no comprehension of
the world of politics and thus did not care about the running of the country. In contrast the educated
liberal bourgeois understood that the current system was failing Russia. They could see how
Russia lagged behind the rest of the world politically, economically and technologically; it was the
liberals who made the monarchy feel uneasy.
In Source 2, Trotsky says that the liberals backed away from the revolution exactly at the moment
when it became clear that to shake tsarism would not be enough, it must be overthrown. Had the
liberals remained consistent in their demand for change and united together with the workers then
perhaps they would have succeeded in

Virginity in 17th and 18th Century Poetry Essay examples
Virginity in 17th and 18th Century Poetry
Benjamin Franklin once said that there were only two inevitable things in life: death and taxes. He
got it half right. They did, in fact, die with pretty regular certainty. However, what was inevitable
was sex. Without it, there wouldn t be any new people to die and poor Ben Franklin would have
been completely wrong. The only hindrance to this certainty was (and remains) virgins. The realm
of the chaste has been explored in poetry throughout time, but never was the subject as thoroughly
probed as in the 17th and 18th century. To judge by the poets of the time, one would conclude that
next to dying the citizens of this era spent most of their time either praising the virtuous, trying to ...

Again, the virtue itself is not exactly being praised so much as being alluded to as a component of
something good.
The women also had their say. In Katherine Phillips s A Married State (1679), the many
advantages of a life of chastity are listed. Phillips says A virgin s state is crowned with much
content; / It s always happy as it s innocent. In addition to innocence, Phillips points out that there
are no grouchy husbands, no screaming children and nothing else to distract you from your
service to God. In fact, wistful women wishing they d kept their virginity and wedding vows to
themselves wrote many poems in this era. It is a telling social commentary that so many married
women would wish themselves back to live a life of chaste penitence than to enter into so called
wedded bliss.
The most common theme in virginity poems is that of men trying to get women to change their
minds and go to bed with them. Many poets tried to use persuasion on their objects of desire. In
Robert Herrick s To the Virgins to Make Much of Time, the well known first line Gather ye
rosebuds while ye may appears. This poem is an appeal to virtuous women to use it while they ve
got it, per se. In the proud tradition of soldiers who will be sent off tomorrow who just know they
aren t coming back and hedonists everywhere, Herrick emphasizes that time is short and virgins are
wasting their youths

Fascism And The Great Financial Depression
After World War One with the defeat of Germany, Austrian Hungarian Empire, Bulgaria and the
Ottoman Empire (Turkey) and the great financial depression which followed in its wake; the
political map of Europe changed drastically. Ideas sprung out of Europe and began to take its hold;
Communism, Socialism, Democracy and other political ideas changed the mostly former
Monarchist states, but one political idea would long lasting impact in Europe it was fascism.
Fascism rose out of the need to change, by the middle class and petty bourgeoisie, the democratic
system and the values of the Enlightenment, but also against modernity and put a strong totalitarian
state in the center of the nation. So, my essay will be divided in to four main... Show more content

It was here that the term fascism took its ideological term (Heywood 2012: 199). In 1922
Mussolini managed to assume the post of Prime Minister, mostly by a show of force by his
armed men the Black Shirts . The government in Italy was paralyzed and fear of a civil war by
the King Victor Emmanuel III opened to the door for Mussolini and his National Fascist Party to
assume complete control in Italy. He used his paramilitary soldiers to crush all opposition to his
authority, something all the rest of the fascist states in Europe would follow. Around the same
time another fascist movement began to emerge in Germany it was called The National Socialist
German Workers Party ; it was led by Adolf Hitler. Fascists in Germany followed the same
concepts as Italian ones. In less than 15 years he had become the supreme leader of Germany
creating a totalitarian state, to what we know today as Nazi Germany. Both of these fascist
movements had most of their support from the middle class, the industrialists and the respective
militaries. It was not until 1935 with the Italian invasion of Ethiopia, the Spanish fascists struggle
for power and Hitler s constant aggressions in Europe that we today inherit military aggression with
fascism. Nazi Germany and Italy would eventually lose

The Power And Wealth Of The Chaebol
As I have stated earlier, the Chaebols have gained significant advantage to become the top class
due to government control of the financial system in the 1960s. The power and wealth of the
chaebol could be best explained by the music video Gangnam Style , produced by Park Jaesang,
who is known as Psy in the video. As of June 2014, on the CNN Entertainment website stated that
Gangnam Style has charted a new record: 2 billion YouTube views (Conlon, 2014) and has
become the most watched video in YouTube history. The video is enjoyed enormously by the
American public, which is kind of puzzling, because many do not know the Korean language,
therefore, are unable to understand what the video is really talking about.
The video went viral and became a sensation because the main character Psy intentionally ridicules
himself by performing exaggerated and bizarre choreographies with beautiful women and
expensive garments in the video. Psy wanted to especially focus on the change of modern Korean
culture toward a culture catered to the narcissist and pretentious people in Korea, even the singer
expressed in a interview that Human society is so hollow, and even while filming I felt pathetic.
Each frame by frame was hollow (Fisher, 2012). The underline message of the video was about
class and wealth problem in present day Korean society. Gangnam is a district in Korea that is
known for its heavily concentrated wealth and high standard of living. Offspring of the Chaebol

Stop the Bullying
Stop The Bullying
Every day, on every playground and hallway in our American schools, children, youths, and teens
are harassed, tormented, made fun, physically and mentally abused and embarrassed by bullies. Is
your child one of these bullies or a victim of bullying? This bully behavior is not only happening
in the United States but all over the world. Many children and youths observe miserably as other
school children get bullied at school. Bullies usually pick on personalities and individuals who are
weaker than themselves, so they can build themselves to feel better about themselves. Sadly to say,
many individuals have witnessed bullying or been a bully themselves. As parents, school

bullying in the correct term as either an offender or a victim. This translates to 3,708,284 students
reporting bullying and 3,245,904 student reporting victimization (p. 101). The consequences of
bullying are reported as depression, headaches, stomach pain, low self esteem, sleep issues and
increase risk of suicide. Many children are afraid to go to school which can interfere with their
daily lessons and academic accomplishments Smokowski Kopasz (2005).
Evidence shows that school violence at Columbine High School in Colorado was related to bullying;
two students who had been bullied shot and killed twelve students, one teacher and wounded and

parents, law enforcements, school administrators, and psychologist to understand the warning signs
and need to establish no tolerance for bullying in schools through antibullying programs. These
warning signs that were ignored by teachers or missed can increase the risk of bullying, such as
teasing, name calling, physical bullying, threatening and can lead to potential suicide or other
measure by the victim. The authors Brown and Merritt (2002) stated, The teachers would see the

The Ethical Issues Of Employee
In organization, many employees may have to work as a team to get their jobs done. The
workplace will be used as a place where employees can provide a work for employer. When many
people who came from different backgrounds, values, goals, and perceptions of acceptable
behaviors have to work together under the same roof, it ll be quite difficult for the organization
to avoid the ethical issues. The ethical issues that I have experienced in my previous workplace
are: Ethical issues of employee: Some of workmate did not come to the office on time. Some of
them even cheated the starting time by asking other people to log in the system in behave of
them. During working hours, some employee may still hang around or chitchat or even enjoy
his food. Ethical issue of employer: Did not pay for overtime to employees. Some employee had
incomplete job. She came to work for another 6 hours on the rest day after six consecutive
normal work days. Pregnant woman will not accept to apply for a job. Foreign workers had a
fight because their working opinion was quite different. 2. Discuss how the ethical issues or
dilemmas were resolved. Provide examples to support your answer (10 marks). Company

A Series Of Biochemical Tests
A series of biochemical tests were conducted in order to determine the identity of an unknown gram
negative bacterium. The unknown had the potential to be one of six different gram negative
bacteria: Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterobacter aerogenes, Proteus mirabilis,
Klebsiella pneumonia, or Salmonella typhirmurium. After using the T streak method to isolate pure
colonies and confirming the gram negative nature of the unknown bacterium the unknown was
subjected to seven biochemical tests and the results compared to the results of the six known
bacteriafor the same tests. After performing the Triple Sugar Iron Agar Test, Sulfur Indole Motility
Test, Methyl Red Test, Voges Proskauer Test, Citrate Test, Urease Test, and Gelatin Test it was
confirmed that identity of Unknown #15 was Salmonella typhirmurium.
While all bacteria retain basic qualities identifying them as prokaryotes they do not function, grow,
or even metabolize in the same way. These differences distinguish bacterial species from one
another, like a thumb print identifies a single individual from every other person on earth. Testing
for these unique factors through a series of biochemical tests and staining techniques allows for an
unknown bacterial strain s thumb print to be generated. From there the unknown s thumb print can
be compared to the thumb print of known bacterial species allowing for identification.
The first step in identification is performing a Gram Stain. Due to the fact

Clearly, religion had a negative impact on Lily Sabbath, but in the real world, does religion have
a positive or negative impact on children? John Bartkowski, a Mississippi State University
sociologist and his colleagues asked the parents and teachers of more than 16,000 kids to rate
how much self control they believed their children showed, how often they exhibited negative or
unhappy behavior and how well they respected and worked with their peers (livescience.com).
The researchers then compared their answers to how often these children s parents said they
attended religious services, talked openly about religion with their child and argued about
religion at home. The kids whose parents regularly attended religious services and talked openly
with their kids about religion were said to have better self discipline, social skills and learning
abilities than kids with non religious parents. The children whose parents often argued about
religion were more likely to have these problems. Bartkowski noted that Religion can hurt if faith
is a source of conflict or tension in the family. If religion has such a positive impact on children,
why is there so much crime? Are crimes often connected to religious preferences?

The Bedouin
The prophet Muhammad, born in 570 AD in Mecca, was raised by his uncle Abu Taleb as part of
the Quraysh tribe. When he was 25, Muhammad married a 40 year old business women, Khadijah,
while living out his days as a merchant. As the state of life in Mecca could at times be
overwhelming, Muhammad discovered a cave in Hira, which he used to disconnect from Mecca
through meditation. During a routine visit to the cave, Muhammadwas visited by an angel, in
human form, who revealed Muhammad as God s messenger, urging him to relay the words of
Allah to the citizens of Mecca and beyond. Concerned about the possible reaction of his fellow

The Bedouin had little interest in conventional religion, as speculation of supernatural higher
powers did not make any impact on their difficult environment (Reading 3, page 15). Because of
their harsh, nomadic lifestyle, the Bedouin instead evolved a chivalric code, which, seeing as they
were extremely communal, stressed the importance of protecting and avenging the tribe (Reading
3, page 15). However, this chivalric code, known as Muruwah, only encouraged bravery and
selflessness within the context of the tribe, paying no attention to universal human rights (Reading
3, page 16). As such, there were great acts of violence committed between various tribes, who
following their own special brands of Muruwah, were obligated to defend any actions of their tribal
brethren. The prophet Muhammad, a Bedouin himself, saw that the barbarity of the tribes was not
conducive to prosperity in Arabia. In his final sermon at mount Arafat in Mecca, prophet
Muhammad relayed to listeners his message, at one point saying, every Muslim is a brother to
every Muslims and Muslims constitute one brotherhood (Reading 2, page 11). The concept of
brotherhood spoke clearly to the Bedouin, as it was inline with their cultural traditions. Because the
prophet was one of them and his message of stressing community related to them, the Bedouin
bought into the monotheistic religion of Islam. Moreover, because members of the same tribe could
not fight amongst each other, Bedouins who converted to Islam brought about peace, ending the
senseless violence between each

Penetration Pricing This is a marketing strategy used by firms to attract customers to a new
product or service. Penetration pricing is the practice of offering a low price for a new product
or service during its initial offering in order to attract customers away from competitors. The
reasoning behind this marketing strategy is that customers will buy and become aware of the new
product due to its lower price in the marketplace relative to rivals. It can often increase both market
share and sales volume. Additionally, the high sales volume can also lead to lower production costs

Company Reports One of the first reports used is the Company Dashboard Report. This is a
visual report displaying key performance indicators, current status of metrics, and can be
tailored for a department s metrics or the overall company metrics. The dashboard provides data
for a specific measure of time (Rouse, 2016) versus a Scorecard, which provides it for a period
of time. It is an important tool for any business looking for departmental information. The
information from this report comes from within the company and provides a snapshot of where
the company stands. The PharmaSim dashboard shows a snapshot of the overview of the
company that includes revenue, gross margin, net income, and stock price. It also has a bar
chart based on the department s metrics. In this case, Allround s performance is shown
(Performance Summary Period 1, 2016). The last portion of the dashboard includes customer
comments from social media. This allows for the department to see customer feedback on a real
time basis and make decisions to improve brand performance. The second report a company can
utilize is the Performance Summary. This report measures the success of a company over a period
of time (Performance Report, 2016). The example in the PharmaSim module shows the company s
overall summary for period 1 of the Allround brand and includes a summary of the decisions made.

Rhetorical Appeals In I Have A Dream Speech
During the 1960s, racism and discrimination were an enormous issue in the United States. To
highlight problems with African Americans Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. gave one of the greatest
speeches in modern history when he spoke the words I Have a Dream on August 28, 1963. King
began his speech by saying, I am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as
the greatest demonstration of freedom in the history of our nation (King). He emphasized on the
racial injustice and his dream for unifying society to bring equilibrium back. Throughout the speech,
he used a very sophisticated voice and kept the audience engaged while carefully choosing the
language and structure of his speech. Using keywords like we, our, dream, justice, freedom on his
speech, King highlighted the importance of the theme.
While listening and reading the speech, the civil rights leader divided his speech into two halves.
The first half of the speech he is emphasizing on the injustice toward the African Americans, and the
second half he talks about the future of the Nation living the American dream equally and united.

The constable and the sheriff come out to collect the fugitive and to give Blondie his reward. The

brown suit symbolizes his being representative of the common folk and their sentiment towards
Tuco. The sheriff is clothed in all black and wears a black hat, portraying the sheriff as an arbiter

the camera pans across the spectators heads. The colors of the hats of the audience members are

The Love-Hate Relationship in Sports and Violence
Sports and violence have always sustained a love hate relationship. We are always trying to find
the right balance between safety and aggression. Similar is the case of violence in NHL. Some
insist that violence has no place in the game and should be completely eliminated, while others
maintain that violencehas always been an integral part of the gameand is necessary for its success.
Aaron Wherry in his article Violently Happy: Why the NHL Needs to Make Hockey Safe Again
for Those Who Appreciate Blood Shed (2007) and Laura Robinson in her article argue that fights
in NHL are acceptable as long as it does not hurts anybody. Laura Robinson also argues that
hockey Violence leads to Real life violence. I believe the same and support the argument that
violence is essential for the success of NHL.
The pro violence groups argue that hockey is an intrinsically violent sport. Even if close contact
with other players, which is a big part of the game, was taken out of the equation, the players still
have to contend with high speed collisions in confined spaces and the danger of getting hit with a
stick or a puck. In this hyper competitive, violent, environment why is fighting uniquely
demonized? Moreover, fighting is also viewed as a deterrent against cheap shots . It gives the
players a chance to police themselves and play an honorable game. In addition to being a deterrent
such aggressive behavior also provides an emotional release that actually prevents things from
escalating.

Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia (WM), also known as lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma, is a

3 million people with a medial life span of 5 9 years after it is diagnosed. The cause of this
disease is unknown but recent indications and research show that the cause can be due to changes

Prognosis is influenced by factors such as how advanced the disease is at diagnosis, and how
rapidly it is advancing. Effective treatments are traditional chemotherapy agents such as
chlorambucil, cyclophosphamide and melphalan. These can be given as a single agent or
combination with others such as rituximab. This monoclonal antibody has been found to be
effective. Because WM is a rare disease, there are minimal research trials to support this disease.
But none the less, there are clinical trials available. Ongoing research has introduced new therapies
including inhibitors and alkylating agents. These ongoing clinical trials have shown that when

Nanotechnology For Enhanced Solar Conversion
Egbo Kingsley O. PhD in Nanostructures for Enhanced Solar Conversion Research Proposal
Abstract The possibilities of employing a nanoscale metal topography that will employ surface
plasmon excitation phenomena towards improving the light absorption efficiency of organic solar
cells will be investigated. This goal is achievable by analytically designing and producing optically
active nanostructures which are used to excite surface plasmons at the wavelengths range dictated
by the sun in order to support the confinement of light beyond the diffraction limit, thus leading to
high weighted enhancements over a wider range of the solar spectrum. This can be achieved by
employing nanostructured materials with unique properties tailored for the materials characteristics
of II VI nanorod systems across the solar spectrum capable of creating significant enhancements
while preventing unwanted thermal losses. Also external quantum efficiency measurements on the
nanostructured cells will be made, this is expected to demonstrate a substantial photon absorption
enhancement across the solar spectrum. Finally, key insights into light absorption and trapping
mechanisms in these plasmon enhanced cells through a combination of three dimensional finite
difference time domain simulations, optical absorption, and external quantum efficiency
measurements will be obtained Introduction The increasing population of the world is making

development of Abstract expressionism and the purpose was similar in addition to the fact that
background was tremendously crucial. (Wilkin,2007) The only difference is that the subject matter
in color field painting is the color, the object is not necssarily important.(Artstory foundation)
Willem De Kooning represented the Abstract expressionism while Kenneth Noland represented the
color field painting.Willem De Kooning was the prominent Abstract expressionism painters and
urgely objected to the restrictions imposed by naming movements. He said I m not interested in
abstracting or taking things out or reducing painting to design, form, line, and color. I paint this
way because I can keep putting more things in it drama, anger, pain, love, a figure, a horse, my
ideas about space. Through your eyes it again becomes an emotion or idea. (Artstory foundation). It
means he like the freedom of painting to tell people his emotions. Some of the famous paintings
were the women features. In the other way, Kenneth Noland was an significant painter who insisted
on producing his paintings in soak stain technique. He focused on the choice of color, to determine
how the background integrated with the subject to become a full subject.(Webb,2011)I will use

Health and safety policies are implemented in every part of the workplace in the United
Kingdom. The merits of following health and safety policies are that the risk of injury are
greatly reduced using good practice after identifying potential risks in the workplace. Although
the risks of injury in a GIS lab are low, sitting for long periods of time behind a computer screen
has been proven to be adverse to many aspects of health including cardiovascular disease, diabetes
and muscular skeletal issues (Dunstan et al., 2012). Regular breaks were encouraged and walks

A Research Study On Helicopter Parenting Essay
College life for the twenty first century student is not what it used to be. According to an American
College Health Association National College Health Assessment survey, eighty five percent of
college students feel so tremendously overwhelmed they walk through the day blind and just
hoping things work out (Fisher). Students lack the ability to focus and manage everything that is
piled on them during class. The term helicopter parentingwas first common in the 1990 s, but was
first used in 1969. Now, forty seven years later, helicopter parenting has become prevalent in
college students lives and the culture around people. A helicopter parentis one who takes an
overprotective or excessive interest in the life of their child or children. Helicopter parenting does
not start out randomly as a college student; helicopter parenting is a process that develops results.
The helicopter parent issue is prevalent to many people. People from Doctor Amy Joyce to stay at
home mom Jamie Porter have done studies to explain the effects of helicopter parenting.
Psychologists such as Chris Meno have done research and testings to collect data on helicopter
parented children. The issue of helicopter parenting is not just concerning children; it is concerning
people across the country.
President of Frostburg State University told Amy Joyce parents have called him to settle a dispute
between their child and their roommate. Joyce explains in her piece How Helicopter Parents Are

Analyzing Invictus
Analyzing Invictus: Theme Invictus, meaning unconquerable or undefeated in Latin, is a poem
by William Ernest Henley. The poem was written while Henley was in the hospital being treated
for tuberculosis of the bone, also known as Pott s disease. He had the disease since he was very
young, and his foot had to be amputated shortly before he wrote the poem. This poem is about
courage in the face of death, and holding on to one s own dignity despite the indignities life
throws at us.In the first stanza, Henley refers to the night that covers me, black as the pit from
pole to pole. This night is a metaphor for the everyday hardships and metaphor mankind faces.
The next line, the pit from pole to pole is a basic way of comparing the darkness... Show more

The place of wrath and tears of which Henley writes is the world we live in, the place where we
are the prey of circumstance and the prisoners of chance. Beyond it, however, there is more to
life than our everyday hardships. In line 10, horror of the shade is the unknown that is across the
threshold of life and death that may hold more hardships for the soul yet. In line 11, the menace
of the year, of course, is the expiration of time, the end of which would mark the beginning of the
journey to the shade beyond. To this, Henley holds defiantly that this imminent end finds, and shall
find him unafraid. This disregard for fear is a declaration of acceptance of all that will come at the
expiration of the

Gender Pay Gap
Gender Pay Gap The economic issue with the gender pay gap has been a concern for quite some
time. Many people say that men are paid more money, or have higher salaries than women;
however, there are also people who believe otherwise. Some argue that maternity leave or
education level is a reason why women seem to be paid less than men, and others argue that there
is a bigger issue such as race and age. The following information will address both viewpoints on
the genderpay gap and its issues within the economy, as well as history of women in the workforce.
History In Colonial America, women stayed at home and took care of the household, took care of
the children, made clothes, and made sure that there was food on the table while the men were at
war. During this time, a group was formed called The Daughters of Liberty. These women were
successful in proving that women can be beneficial to the new country in terms of politics and
working. They also wanted to steer away from the British lifestyle while men wanted to keep their
traditions. They refused to buy clothes, tea, or any other items that came from England, no matter
what it was. They formed spinning societies to make their own clothing, as well as clothing for
their male family members. This made America less dependent on British textiles, (Answers.)
These Colonial American women wanted to prove that they were committed to the cause of liberty
and industry, (Answers.) They also had a big influence on the war

Changes In Fahrenheit 451
In Ray Braudbury s novel, Fahrenheit 451, Guy Montag undergoes major changes because of
the influence of other intellects and events; in effect this caused him to ruminate about events
that were considered normal . Montag s occupation is firefighting, however he is not the
traditional version of a fire fighter. Montag does not put out fire, but rather helps ignite them.
This is considered ordinary within his society because they are not allowed to read books or
have knowledge previous to this era. This law is enforced with such intensity because the
government fears that knowledge in one s mind will contribute to overthrowing whoever is in
control or has the most power within the society. However this does not stop a few individuals
(including Montag) to pose threats to the government by reading and by posing questions.
Within the beginning of the novel, one of the major people that sparked a change in Guy
Montag was the exquisitely observant Clarisse McClellan. She is different from all of the others
in the society who like to head for a Fun Park to bully people around or break windowpanes in the
Car Wrecker. She enjoys observing people, and she observes Montag, diagnosing him as a strange...

Football or soccer as some call it like that. The game I love so much but never thought there were
so many stories behind it until I started taking my History of Global Soccer this semester.
Beginning by who started practicing it, how a simple victory can have an impact on people
perception of the game and how it was used by politicians. I knew that it was invented in England
even though it not clear where exactly did footballstart, but I have always thought it was being
played by the lower class of the society backs then and was used as a way to get away from the
hardship of the daily life. As I was growing up back in my country in West Africa, it was the only
sport that we could practice essentially without any investment. So, I always viewed football as a

But it seems like that was not the case in the history of modern football (soccer). The modern
game emerged from an elite class who managed the game in public schools such as the popular
English School and Eton College who came forth with a set of rules, known as the Cambridge
Rules which set the ground for the rules used in the modern game.
The victory of Mohun Bagan AC (India) against East Yorkshire Regiment (England) 2 1 in the
final of the IFA Shield clearly illustrated how people can preserve the outcome of a game in a
way to express their feeling about a situation they are living. After the victory, Indian saw that

Rap Music Influence
In experiments on over 500 college students, who often work cheaper than guinea pigs and have
less complicated musical tastes, subjects were found to experience a increase in aggressive
thoughts after listening to songs with violent lyrics, (Morrison, 1). Based on this information
people can conclude that since rap lyrics are violent often, it is the main cause for aggressive
thoughts caused from hip hop. Rap music causes lots of violenceevery year and it is only used for
entertainment purposes. Rap has no value for learning anything; it is just a hostile form of
music most times. Rap music can influence teens because it can encourage violent behavior, and
it can make kids start using drugs, also it can influence illegal activities. Hip hop and rap lyrics
have no educational worth, (McWhorter, 1). Rap is going downhill and albums are starting to
sell less. This is because of new rappers and people seeing the truth about rap. As the new music
groups and better music start coming in, it just kicks rap out of the picture. Hip hop will soon
become nothing unless it can be more passive and non aggressive in its lyrics. When people start...

On that day, two of the school s students went on a shooting spree, killing thirteen people and
wounding more than twenty before taking their own lives, (Keeley, 91). This is proof that
children and teens are susceptible to violent lyrics more than adults. Parents need to try their
best to keep violence out of their kid s life. If people work together and be friendlier with their
lyrics, the world would be a better place. Not all raps are bad though, as long as it doesn t have
offensive or violent things in it Rap is a good genre of music. The things that tear rap apart is all
the offense it has in it, otherwise it would sell way more and people wouldn t try getting rid of it

Using Lightweight Dynamic User Authentication Scheme
There are many popular authentication protocol schemes and some of them are as follows.
Lightweight Dynamic User Authentication Scheme In Wireless Sensor Networks the authorized
users can access and communicate with the sensor nodes. This scheme comprises of registration,
login and authentication phases. Based on the predefined period the user registers and gets access
to secure data and restarts if period expires. It states it is secure only against replay and forgery
attacks. And provides many benefits like efficiency, avoiding leakage of password, etc. Lightweight
Trust Model Usage of this scheme benefits in reducing the memory consumption and energy. And it
is done by three steps such as computing bytes, not storing the value in the transaction table,
consuming 3 bits of memory and also avoids promiscuous operation mode. Lightweight
Authentication Scheme This requires HMAC and encryption algorithms and decrease the effects of
resource consumption attack. It consists of three phases such as key predistribution phase, network
initialization phase and authentication protocol. Secured Energy Conserving Slot Based Topology
Maintenance Protocol uses a symmetric key based authentication mechanism for a sleep/wake up
schedule of nodes for better energy efficiency and increase in lifetime the network. Lightweight Key
Management Scheme This reduces the resource consumption and acts as building block for all
mechanisms. It requires less key storage with minimal number of

The War Of 1812 And Its Effect On Foreign Relations
After the American Revolutionary War was declared in 1775, the newly founded United States
did not declare war again until the War of 1812. Britain did not respect the neutrality policy of the
U.S. during the Napoleonic Wars in Europe. The British started to impress U.S. sailors into the
British navy, leading to the declaration of war against Britain. The Treaty of Ghent was signed to
conclude the war and to restore prewar boundaries. However, this fairly small war had immense
consequences. Some consequences had an influence on foreign relations, American fishing rights,
the development of the Rush Bagot agreement, as well as the evolvement of the Monroe Doctrine.
In addition, all of these outcomes allowed for an increase in domestic manufacturing and trade. The
morale of the country was also boosted as a result of the war, affecting both foreign relations and
American industry, because the citizens of the United Statesdeveloped new ideas about trading with
other countries and advancing in the manufacture of products within the country.
After the War of 1812, the United States faced many economic problems. The U.S. came up
against foreign competition, especially from Britain. British goods were not sold in the United
States after the Embargo Act of the early 1800s. At the end of the War of 1812, products from
Britain came back into the United States. Britain was already an industrialized country. It made and
sold goods at a cheaper price than American products could be

Effects of missing a doctors appointment
Effects of missing a Doctors appointment
No shows are a problem for both doctors and patients.
When a patient misses a doctor/nurse appointment, a follow up or specialist appointment they are
not receiving the care recommended by their doctor/nurse. This could result in the patient
becoming more ill and requiring additional time off work, laying an extra burden on colleagues
and bosses, there is also the risk of infecting others thus carrying additional burdens as more staff
may require time of work or extra appointments. All of this holds a risk of missing deadlines,
looking unprofessional and potentially disrupting the training of personnel on unit.
Missing an appointment can also mean missing vital treatment, diagnosis or ... Show more content

As the population ever increases doctors are being over stretched more than ever meaning every
appointment slot is valuable, GP s are then forced to discharged patients that repeatedly offend for
missing appointments which leads to complaints, thus creating more work for the surgery staff and
doctors! Then when the said patient applies to re register at the surgery or applies to register at a
different surgery more man hours are consumed.
On researching and writing about this subject it has become apparent that for the sake of one
missed appointment the effects are detrimental to a lot of factors and services. I do feel that within
the NHS a system should be in place to remind patients of an appointment like a txting service as it
would be a lot more cost effective than a missed appointment, however in the military this is very
unlikely to happen because of restrictions and budgets. A missed appointment in the military is
down to bad administration, deploying last minute, compassionate leave or work/training
commitments, all I feel are sufficient excuses with the exception of bad administration this is a
personal issue that you as an individual should take steps to prevent, by the use of a diary, setting
an alarm on your phone or computer or simply writing it on a board/piece of paper that you will see.
Having missed an appointment

Mussolini Fascism Analysis
The popularity of Mussolini s fascism among returning veterans was not only because of the
comradery that Mussolini shared with them, but also the role that veterans played in fascismo.
Welk (1938, 8 9), notes a publication in which, Mussolini campaigned for the right of returned
soldiers to lead Italy towards becoming a great nation and a new world power. In order to
understand how powerful this image was, it is important to understand the Post war Italian
economy. Though Italy had claimed victory in 1918, it came at the cost of the lives of
approximately 600 thousand Italian soldiers, and nearly everyone in Italy outside of war
profiteers exited the war more impoverished. Particularly, the transition from war to peace time
production was a slow and painful process. Thus, while Italy claimed military victory, the post
war economy was not only crippled but also disorganized. This left laborers eager to lend their
ears to a solution, and two powerful but contrasting ideologies to vie for their support. The first to
consider is Communism. A year before, communism had claimed an important victory in the
Russian revolution of 1917. The decisive victory of the Russian proletariat in Welk s (1938, 9 11)
opinion provoked Italian communists to encourage the same in Italy. The following years were
characterized by strikes, and worker s seizing the means of production, as the working class
attempted to seize power throughout the nation. One notable example occurred on April 10, 1919,

KITTISUKSATHIT, Ph. D.; CHARAMPORN HOLUMYONG, Ph. D. ABSTRACT The number
of Indonesian adolescents practicing sex before marriage is relatively low compared to the rate in
other countries (less than 6.5%). However, this issue should be given attention because the rate
increased from 5% to 6.4% between 2002 and 2007. Therefore, the main aim of this study is to
analyze factors influencing premarital sexual intercourse among in school late adolescents in
Indonesia. This study uses secondary data from the research of the Indonesian Young Adult
Reproductive Health Survey (IYARHS) 2007. The study population of 6,792 in school late
adolescents aged 15 19 years was selected from a total of 19,311 unmarried Indonesian young
adults that were interviewed. The findings illustrate that 2.4% of the in school late adolescents have
engaged in premarital sexual intercourse. Evidence indicated that sex, age, place of residence,

Analysis Of Frederick Jackson s Turner Frontier Thesis
After the Civil War, America experienced a vast change with the influx of foreigners. Many
believed that America was filled with multiple opportunities that could transform their lives.
However, due to mass immigration many were forced to face injustices, overcrowding, as well as
questioning their identity. Riis and Turner were both concerned with the influx of immigrants and
how the increase of people affected the American land. In Frederick Jackson s Turner frontier
thesis, he describes how important the frontier is to the development of America and how it
allowed many to obtain a new life. He describes how Americans have managed to transform the
wilderness little by little and making this new land their home, Little by little he transforms the
wilderness, but the outcome is not the old Europe, not simply the development of Germanic
germs...The fact is that here is a new product that is American . The frontier thesis is also used to
describe the individuality of America and prove that it is an independent country that no longer has
ties with other nations as well as making it clear that America is unique in its own way. Westward
expansion offered many the opportunity to re identify themselves and create a nation that offered a
new form of American life.
The Frontier thesis emphasizes that Americans are now free from European powers by stating that,
In another way the advance of the frontier decreased our dependence on England . Americans were
now using their skills and

  • 2. Personality Theory Research Paper Another part of creating a personality theory is the debate between uniqueness versus commonality which I have briefly discussed. I believe that every person is unique because no two people have gone through identical life experiences, nor have they been influenced in the exact same way by their environments and people around them. With that being said, I also believe that human beings have many things in common like how they deal with and react to certain situations. We are also alike in our need for a place in the world and acceptance from others. Because I believe that humans are both unique and common, I believe that both idiographic and nomothetic research are important in learning how humans behave and who they will become. A lot of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another theory that is very reminiscent of behaviorism is the mechanistic theory in which humans do not engage in cognition, but rather respond automatically to stimuli in their environment. The animalistic theory also does not give humans enough credit, which would be the exact opposite of humanistic psychology. It states that we as humans act in the same ways as animals, namely primates, and while we do share some behaviors and some amount of intelligence, I do not think that there are enough commonalities to completely say that we are the same. Another theory of human nature is the evolutionary psychological theory which states that we have inherent behaviors that have been passed down through the generations since the inception of humankind. I think that the theory of evolutionary psychology does have some grounds because humans as a species have adapted and we are born with certain knowledge and gut instincts about the world, but I do not think that this theory can completely encapsulate human nature. I do not agree with the humanistic theory of human nature because I do not believe that humans are born good, but instead mostly neutral and that we engage in whatever practices or behaviors that we have decided to engage ... Before the invention of the projector in 1895, those who seeked visual entertainment opted for optical toys, shadow shows, magic lanterns and visual tricks. After this invention and years of experimentation, filmhad swept across the world, with the 1920 s having some of the greatest impact on its history. The 1920 s was the decade known for Picture Palaces or Movie Palaces , which were large, elaborately snd classically decorated movie theaters that could fit nearly 2,000 patrons. • 4. Antibiotics And Antibiotic Resistance When a bacteria is exposed to antibiotics, they are not always guaranteed to die. This is called antibiotic resistance. Sometimes antibiotics can only stop the bacteria from multiplying (make it stagnate), and other times it causes the bacteria to multiply even more. These three results depend on antibiotic concentration, bacterial mutation, and bacterial genetic exchange. One big factor in the resistance bacteriashow towards antibiotics is antibioticconcentration. Usually, if large amounts of an antibiotic are attacking a bacteria it will stop the multiplication process and even kill it off, but if there is small amounts of antibiotic it will allow the bacteria to continue to spread. You can find many bacteria in a jelly like biofilm which provides a shield to them.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The bacteria can form the ability to completely remove the antibiotic from its cell. 3.The wall of the bacteria can create a barrier to keep the antibiotic from getting in. 4.The bacteria become accustomed to a new way of handling energy. Scientists have to keep up with the bacteria s mutations, and it may require them making a new antibiotic for each one. The third and final factor in bacterial resistance to antibiotics is bacterial genetic exchange. It is very common for bacteria to share genetic info between cells even if the bacteria are not the same species. When this happens, genes and DNA get mixed into different species allowing more mutations against the antibiotics. The only way for scientists to know if the bacteria is going to resist their antibiotic is for them to perform tests. Even if the antibiotic proves to work in their experiment, scientists can never tell when the bacteria is going to mutate and possibly gain new defenses that can deactivate their antibiotic. Antibiotic concentration, bacterial mutation, and bacterial genetic exchange are all responsible for bacterial resistance against antibiotics, and make it very difficult to create antibiotics against the ... P A R T I Healthcare Finance Overview CHAPTER Introduction to Healthcare Finance 1 Progress Notes After completing this chapter, you should be able to THE HISTORY Financial management has a long and distinguished history. Consider, for example, that Socrates wrote about the universal function of management in human endeavors in 400 B.C. and that Plato developed the concept of specialization for efficiency in 350 B.C. Evidence of sophisticated financial management exists for much earlier times: the Chinese produced a planning and control system in 1100 B.C., a minimum wage system was developed by Hammurabi in 1800 B.C., and the Egyptians and Sumerians developed planning and record keeping systems in 4000 B.C.1 Many ... These managers generally work with the system of the organization. They may be responsible for data accumulation. They are often affiliated with the information system hierarchy in the organization. 3. The clinical view. These managers generally are responsible for service delivery. They have direct interaction with the patients and are responsible for clinical outcomes of the organization. The Elements of Financial Management 5 Managers must, of necessity, interact with one another. Thus, managers holding different views will be required to work together. Their concerns will intersect to some degree, as illustrated by Figure 1 1. The nonfinancial manager who understands healthcare finance will be able to interpret and negotiate successfully such interactions between and among viewpoints. In summary, financial management is a discipline with a long and respected history. Healthcare service delivery is a business, and the concept of financial management assists in balancing the inflows and outflows that are a part of the business. Financial Process

  • 7. The Pros And Cons Of Social Stereotypes Stereotype threat is a social phenomenon where a member of a negatively stereotyped group performs poorly when reminded of that stereotype (Beilock, Jellison, Rydell, McConnell, Carr, 2006). For example, previous studies have shown that when primed with a negative stereotype African Americans perform worse on intellectual tasks (Steele, Aronson, 1995), and women perform worse at math (Spencer, Steele, Quinn, 1999). The main component of stereotypethreat is that it impairs working memory(Schmader, Forbes, Johns, 2008). Working memory is a short term memory system that is involved in the control, regulation, and active maintenance of a limited amount of information with immediate relevance to the task at hand (Miyake Shah, 1999). So essentially as one works on a task, working memory keeps all the important information ready for quick access, which is crucial for performance in almost every domain. Previous studies have shown that working memory capacity is a direct mediator between stereotype threat and impaired mental performance (Schmader, Johns, 2003). At a cognitive level, working memory is a limited capacity resource that can become depleted if it is attending to multiple domains. If depleted there is less capacity available to control a task s execution and information processing demands (Schmader, Johns, 2003). Many different studies have contested how it is that stereotype threat impairs performance. For example, in Steele and Aronson s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Ford Mustang Essays A highly popular muscle and sports car, the Ford Mustang functions as a daily driver, weekend warrior, and a show winning work of mechanical art. Whether someone just needs a basic transportation to get from point A to point B, an eight second quarter mile beast, or a show stopping work of power and beauty, Ford has produced a Mustang for every need. The Mustang got its name from the World War II P 51 Mustang fighter plane (Harris). The five generations evolved each year model until, in response to the 1971 1973 models, Ford returned the car to its original size and concept in 1974 (Bowling). Furthermore, this car interests me because at the price one could completely personalize his or her dream Mustang for only $2,320. Ford would sell close to 417,000 Mustangs within the first year (Tucker). In August 1964, Carol Shelby approached Lee Daocca, President of Fomoco at the time. Shelby had a vision to create a high performance Mustang and Shelby wanted a car that could hold its own both on and off the track. Once Shelby received approval to move forward on the project, he created a fastback 2+2 Mustang (Kelly). This model Mustang only had front bucket seats and a console but no back seat, which earned it the name fastback 2+2. This model mustang came equipped with a four speed manual transmission for more torque, one of the fastest cars of its day. The 2+2 fastback Mustang remains my favorite model Mustang of this year because it had a sleeker, aerodynamic design, and featured a larger engine, the 289 cu in, which produced a whopping 306 horsepower (Tucker1). The official name for this 2+2 fastback Mustang was the Shelby GT 350: Ford named it this for street purposes (Kelly). In the fall of 1964, Ford included an entirely new Mustang engine lineup and the addition of the GT group. The 200 cu in six cylinder engine replaced the 170 cu in six cylinder engine, thus increasing the six cylinder s performance from 101 horsepower to 120 horsepower. Believing that if there were people talking in the background, then a person s reaction time would be slower because they would be more distracted. We tested 30 people, separated into two groups, using a reaction time stick and noise cancelling headphones. The first group had no noise, using the noise cancelling headphones, and the reaction times ranged from 180 to 265. The second group, with background noise played through the headphone, had reaction times ranging from 135 to 280. The results for both groups were very similar in that the mean of the data for the group with no noise was 215.4 and the mean of the group with background noise was 214.2. This shows that... Studies also show that low frequency noise at levels normally occurring in office like environments may influence work performance and subjective perception of annoyance and lead to work impairment. It is also very common for people to listen to music while driving and if they don t listen to music there is outside noise, such as traffic that can affect the way they react and perform. A study done in 2015 on the effect of road traffic noise on reaction time showed that even exposure to traffic noise leads to increase in reaction time. A slight mishap happened in Forensics we found out that only two teams could compete, so my team had to drop out , ChemistryLab was mainly basic kinetics and gas laws during GameOn we had to learn Scratch and then use that knowledgeto create a game, The last event was Keltic Vehicle, in this event we had to pre design a vehicle. It helped working together because we could share ideas to each other. The Scratch program was simple and easy to master. We did really well at studying and mastering the program. There were some issues with designing the background and characters. The limited time made it hard to make a complicated and interesting game. The game wasn t as accurate as we had hoped but it was one of my favorites. We also actually knew what we were doing. With the knowledge in Scratch I know that I ll do better next year. Doing gome on made me realise how much I enjoyed programming, and I know that skill will come in handy later in life. For Electric Vehicle I learned that time is very important with designing and programming but working on the vehicle was different we remodeled it about three times to make it work correctly and stop swerving to the left. The rules were simple: make the vehicle come to a complete stop when it hits the set distance. Our way of building the vehicle was to base it on a click system; in the system we had buttons that had a certain amount of time it would make the motors go for. The rules stated that the vehicle had to be between nine to twelve meters , (in distance of which it could travel), but at the competition it was eleven meters. When preparing for the distance runs we had to figure out how many clicks it took to go one meter. Unfortunately, it was a little more complex; it accelerated so it didn t go at a linear rate, ... In the story Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare, set in the fair city of Verona, Italy, Romeo and Juliet must keep their love hidden from their two feuding families, the Montagues and the Capulets. After Romeo is banished from the city, he and Juliet will sacrifice everything including their lives for each other. The tragic love story of these two star crossed lovers has influenced our society and culture with movies like Titanic and The Outsiders where fate has a clear influence in these classic stories of forbidden love. • 14. Closely Watching Milos Closely Watched Trains was directed by JiЕ™ГMenzel in Czechoslovakia in 1966. Telling the story of a boy who obtains a job at the local railroad stop as a station guard, the movie shows the experience of Milos as he explores sexuality and growing up.The film shows Milos before he gains his manhood as weak, unintelligent, and isolated from the other men. Using techniques such as cross cutting and low angles, the director is able to show how after losing his virginity, Milos is no longer foolish and innocent and his newfound manhood causes him to have the qualities that parallel what is respected by the Soviet community, such as intelligence and confidence allowing him to blow up a Nazi trainand become a hero. Throughout the majority of the film, Milos is depicted as a simple, fragile teen. The film opens with a scene in which his mother is dressing his for his first day of work. The director pans from his feet to his head, ending with a close up shot so we can see the entirety of Milos and his nerves on his face as he heads into work. When he gets to work and sits at a desk, the filmmaker uses jump cuts to show different actions going on around the room and then cuts to Milos looking around. This shows the audience how Milos is innocent and daydreaming as opposed to doing the work he should be doing. He seems childlike and foolish as he can not maintain focus on his work. As the film progresses, the director employs cross cutting many times which shows Milos ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. All Weddings Have Memorable Moments All weddings have memorable moments. Memorable moments serve as highlights, or lowlights,to recall on subsequent anniversaries. Some, like ours, still cause my heart to palpitate as I recall that ill conceived phone call. To understand its significance you must understand that I began our courtship as a fourth stringer behind Doug, Harry and John (Names are changed to protect the guilty). All had had significant relationships with my June when I joined the taxi squad. None were on waivers. All were still in contention for capturing the coveted starter position as fiancГ©e. I was perhaps the weakest suitor in terms of wealth and personality, but I had the strength of physical position since we both taught in the same school system, in the same building, only two floors apart. The other contenders lived miles away. My June always says that timing is everything which was the case in our courtship. At that point in her life she was a willing receiver for my passes and after a whirlwind courtship she succumbed to my naive charms and agreed to be my bride. So it was that I made the jump from fourth to first string and was the unchallenged game winner or so I thought. Certain things, like that memorable phone call, are preceded by other plays that a more seasoned starter would have foreseen as predictive. But I was new at the game. One such play came when I took June to homecoming at the university from which we had both graduated. We were walking out of a restaurant not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 16. Public Displays Of A Public Display Problem As displays are often located in areas where meetings take place, informal get togethers happen or visiting guests are welcomed, we believe that they would provide a great opportunity to act as some form of common space not only to share information between physically present persons but also to exchange information with the display itself. For example, consider a visitor who wants to show pictures from his recent tour to his friends or he suddenly decides to give a presentation of his latest work while having a chat in a company s coffee area. It can be quite cumbersome for all his friends to gather around the rather small mobile phone screen. Instead, he would like to utilize any existing public display nearby to temporarily leverage the larger screen for picture sharing or presentation purposes. However, such pervasive displays are normally used only as output devices and do not allow user to interact with their operations. Moreover, most public display do not provide any means of interaction with it nor is there an easy way to add user content to be displayed. Instead, they automatically display contents that get it from a central repository or web service and often this cycle have been in a pre determined way (Geel, 2013). Literature Review Public displays have becoming increasingly prevalent within public places such as train stations, airports and museums in order to disseminate information from one central screen to a large audience (Lee et al, 2011). The peasants wanted more land and the liberals wanted a better political system that was more democratic and gave them more say in how the country was run. He had to contend with numerous strikes, uprisings, assassinations and mutinies. It is surprising, therefore than the Tsar managed to remain in his throne throughout 1905. The groups all had different motives and aims; the workers and soldiers wanted better working conditions while the peasants were only focused on gaining more land, had no comprehension of the world of politics and thus did not care about the running of the country. In contrast the educated liberal bourgeois understood that the current system was failing Russia. They could see how Russia lagged behind the rest of the world politically, economically and technologically; it was the liberals who made the monarchy feel uneasy. • 19. Virginity in 17th and 18th Century Poetry Essay examples Virginity in 17th and 18th Century Poetry Benjamin Franklin once said that there were only two inevitable things in life: death and taxes. He got it half right. They did, in fact, die with pretty regular certainty. However, what was inevitable was sex. Without it, there wouldn t be any new people to die and poor Ben Franklin would have been completely wrong. The only hindrance to this certainty was (and remains) virgins. The realm of the chaste has been explored in poetry throughout time, but never was the subject as thoroughly probed as in the 17th and 18th century. To judge by the poets of the time, one would conclude that next to dying the citizens of this era spent most of their time either praising the virtuous, trying to ... In Katherine Phillips s A Married State (1679), the many advantages of a life of chastity are listed. Phillips says A virgin s state is crowned with much content; / It s always happy as it s innocent. In addition to innocence, Phillips points out that there are no grouchy husbands, no screaming children and nothing else to distract you from your service to God. In fact, wistful women wishing they d kept their virginity and wedding vows to themselves wrote many poems in this era. It is a telling social commentary that so many married women would wish themselves back to live a life of chaste penitence than to enter into so called wedded bliss. The most common theme in virginity poems is that of men trying to get women to change their minds and go to bed with them. Many poets tried to use persuasion on their objects of desire. In Robert Herrick s To the Virgins to Make Much of Time, the well known first line Gather ye rosebuds while ye may appears. The Power And Wealth Of The Chaebol As I have stated earlier, the Chaebols have gained significant advantage to become the top class due to government control of the financial system in the 1960s. This sentiment is reinforced when Angel Eyes says at a later hanging, Even a filthy beggar like that has got a protecting angel. A golden haired angel watches over him (TGTBATU). Right before Tuco is hanged, Blondie shoots the rope, allowing Tuco to escape. He then proceeds to shoot off the audience s hats. This symbolizes the spectators loss of the thought of hanging Tuco because he is out of their clutches. As Tuco gallops out of town, Blondie jumps down onto a wagon and races after his partner. The two characters are then seen dividing their earnings from their scam. Blondie lights a cigar and offers Tuco one as well. We are always trying to find the right balance between safety and aggression. Similar is the case of violence in NHL. Some insist that violence has no place in the game and should be completely eliminated, while others maintain that violencehas always been an integral part of the gameand is necessary for its success. Aaron Wherry in his article Violently Happy: Why the NHL Needs to Make Hockey Safe Again for Those Who Appreciate Blood Shed (2007) and Laura Robinson in her article argue that fights in NHL are acceptable as long as it does not hurts anybody. Laura Robinson also argues that hockey Violence leads to Real life violence. I believe the same and support the argument that violence is essential for the success of NHL. The pro violence groups argue that hockey is an intrinsically violent sport. Even if close contact with other players, which is a big part of the game, was taken out of the equation, the players still have to contend with high speed collisions in confined spaces and the danger of getting hit with a stick or a puck. In this hyper competitive, violent, environment why is fighting uniquely demonized? Moreover, fighting is also viewed as a deterrent against cheap shots . It gives the players a chance to police themselves and play an honorable game. In addition to being a deterrent such aggressive behavior also provides an emotional release that actually prevents things from escalating. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is an incurable, rare disease affecting 1 in 3 million people with a medial life span of 5 9 years after it is diagnosed. The cause of this disease is unknown but recent indications and research show that the cause can be due to changes in the DNA. Effective treatments are traditional chemotherapy agents such as chlorambucil, cyclophosphamide and melphalan. These can be given as a single agent or combination with others such as rituximab. This monoclonal antibody has been found to be effective. Because WM is a rare disease, there are minimal research trials to support this disease. PhD in Nanostructures for Enhanced Solar Conversion Research Proposal Abstract The possibilities of employing a nanoscale metal topography that will employ surface plasmon excitation phenomena towards improving the light absorption efficiency of organic solar cells will be investigated. This goal is achievable by analytically designing and producing optically active nanostructures which are used to excite surface plasmons at the wavelengths range dictated by the sun in order to support the confinement of light beyond the diffraction limit, thus leading to high weighted enhancements over a wider range of the solar spectrum. This can be achieved by employing nanostructured materials with unique properties tailored for the materials characteristics of II VI nanorod systems across the solar spectrum capable of creating significant enhancements while preventing unwanted thermal losses. Also external quantum efficiency measurements on the nanostructured cells will be made, this is expected to demonstrate a substantial photon absorption enhancement across the solar spectrum. Finally, key insights into light absorption and trapping mechanisms in these plasmon enhanced cells through a combination of three dimensional finite difference time domain simulations, optical absorption, and external quantum efficiency measurements will be obtained Introduction The increasing population of the world is making demands on the availability of energy supply and research has ... Mussolini Fascism Analysis The popularity of Mussolini s fascism among returning veterans was not only because of the comradery that Mussolini shared with them, but also the role that veterans played in fascismo. Welk (1938, 8 9), notes a publication in which, Mussolini campaigned for the right of returned soldiers to lead Italy towards becoming a great nation and a new world power. In order to understand how powerful this image was, it is important to understand the Post war Italian economy. Though Italy had claimed victory in 1918, it came at the cost of the lives of approximately 600 thousand Italian soldiers, and nearly everyone in Italy outside of war profiteers exited the war more impoverished. Particularly, the transition from war to peace time production was a slow and painful process. Thus, while Italy claimed military victory, the post war economy was not only crippled but also disorganized. This left laborers eager to lend their ears to a solution, and two powerful but contrasting ideologies to vie for their support. The first to consider is Communism. A year before, communism had claimed an important victory in the Russian revolution of 1917. The decisive victory of the Russian proletariat in Welk s (1938, 9 11) opinion provoked Italian communists to encourage the same in Italy.
