Concentration Camps Of The Holocaust
Holocaust
On the 30th of January 1933 a genocide called the Holocaust started, where people who weren t
considered the perfect male or female were sent to concentration camps where they were made to
work hard and very little fed. They were also tortured, experimented on and killed.
The Holocaust was started by a man called Adolf Hitler who took over Germany and was against
Jews, disabled people, homosexuals, black people, homeless people and the mentally ill. Although
people call the camps concentration camps there were different types of camps like extermination
camps, labour camps, prisoner of war camps and transit camps. The first ever concentration camp was
called Dachau and the first people to be sent there were politicians who were against Hitler s ways and
people who were considered asocial , this included the disabled, the homeless and the mentally ill.
After Kristallnacht in 1938 the Germans started killing more Jewish people which meant more Jews
were sent to concentration camps. Jews were forced out of their homes and had to live in ghettos and
in some of the larger ones over 1000 people were sent to the camps a day.
Life in the camps was horrible and very harsh. Prisoners were forced to work very hard and were
given hardly any food, they shared a crowded bunk with 3 or more people and there was no bedding.
They were tortured and killed usually for not working hard enough, they were also experimented on.
While concentration camps were meant to work the

This article explains how to reference an academic work using the Harvard system. Instructions
comply with the relevant British standards, i.e. BS 5605:1990, BS 1629:1989 and BS 6371:1983. The
importance of referencing in an approved manner is discussed and problem areas such as joint authors,
corporate authorship and unpublished works are examined. The issue of second hand references that

The Medi An Effective Message
5.6 Buzzwords
The news media used a few key phrases that were repeated in order to perpetuate positive
understandings of the NZDF deployment of troops in Afghanistan. Messages such as NZDF personnel
are not going to war , not just fighting Taliban... , not just about a war on terror, but also about the
overall kindness and affable attitude of New Zealand reconstruction, hospitals, schools, (He Toki,
2013). The airtime in mainstream media is increasingly limited and these kinds of buzzword portray
an effective message in increasingly shrinking time frames (Louw, 16). However, these buzzwords
extended further than the media itself, they were preserved among government too. The Annual
Report for the year ended 30th June 2002, has a whole section reiterating peacekeeping highlighting
the active, and long standing participation in international peace operations. In this section noting, that
there have been more operational commitments in the last five years compared to the previous 20.
This was a good thing (Annual Report, 2002).
6. Institutional Analysis Government Framing
Phil Goff s media release, 10 April 2006 emphasised the importance of continued deployment in
Afghanistan, justifying the cost for the government, therefore taxpayer, through buzzwords without
any scrutiny.

Canada Vs. United States Health Care
Canada vs United States Health Care
President Obama promised to all Americans that they would finally have an opportunity to obtain or
purchase health insurance in the United States for the first time and for those that already had
insurance he promised to them that they would be able to keep the insurance they already had and it
would not increase because of Obama Care. After the passing of Obama Care the only truth was that
Americans could purchase health care but other than that the rest were lies. People that already had
insurance plans some of their plans went up and some plans even got dropped because of Obama
Care. Many Americans now ask themselves why do they have to suffer and pay more for health
insurance when they did nothing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
( Maria ) Obama Care is still a step in the right direction, though because it now allows anyone to
obtain health coverage that wants it. Lastly, another downside to Obama Care is that the people that
did not have health coverage before are now forced to get it or will get fined on their taxes at the end
of the year. Many Americans do not even have the money to buy it so how will they pay the fine? It is
highly unlikely the U.S government will never see that money any time soon. The republican party to
this day are still trying to repeal certain parts of Obama Care because it does not work. The
legislatures of the United States should take a hard look at how Canada operates with their health care
laws. In Canada their legislators passed a better law allowing all citizens to have the same health care.
Sure there are longer lines, but at the end of the day everyone is on the same team. The U.S on the
other hand has not played as a team but still as an individual. Why make others pay higher prices for
doing the right thing all their life? The U.S legislators should pass a law like Canada and make
everyone pay equally or do not pass anything because it s not fair game. Health care is valued by
many citizens in the United States and in Canada. Both countries have their own health care systems
to provide coverage for citizens. Canada has basic health care coverage for all citizens through federal
legislation, but not all services are covered. Additional health

Essay On Lingua Franca
This paper looks at the aspects of a lingua franca and its role in societies. Also, the adaptation of other
languages vocabulary and usage into the English language, and how English has impacted vocabulary
and grammar structures on other languages. Furthermore, it talks about the effects on minority
languages due to the continuous spread and dominance of English. Later, it touches upon some
positive aspects that it has brought into modern day life across the globe.
English as a Lingua Franca
Over centuries, the English language has evolved from the roots of other ancient languages including:
Latin, the Germanic languages, French, even Greek. Their influences are clear to see in its vocabulary
and spoken dialects, which have also adopted words into its lexicon. Most of the aforementioned have
their complexities, causing difficulties for students and scholars to learn as second languages.
However, English is a much simpler language to comprehend due to its limited inflections and
familiarity of spoken and written words. Thus, it has become the lingua franca for people around the
world and is taught in the classrooms of most non native speaking countries. As we can see in most
areas of international business and education, the dominance of English is growing at a rapid pace that

The continual spread and reach of the language brings cause for concern for those who feel that the
impact it has on culture, history and traditions of minorities due to its tendency to dominate all aspects
of societies if allowed. However, the usage of the native English language has not gone unaffected due
to cross dialect influences and the need to accommodate others by using non conventional structures.
The positive aspects are too many to mention, especially in the modern times of globalization and I
believe that the case for English as a lingua franca may always be

The Success Of Burton s Snowboards Started Selling From...
Burton s Snowboards began selling from the back of a car. The company s success is shocking looking
at the startup and market that Jake Burton Carpenter entered into. Carpenter had the goal of becoming
rich and found a way to do so through hard work, pride, and a couple pieces of wood. The snowboards
he made in the beginning were poorly designed and did not sell because he had no interested
customers. The industry he was trying to sell in did not yet exist, so he had to make it. Finally finding
the right target market and a place to use his products his snowboards began to soar in popularity.
Carpenter had to fight to have snowboards allowed on the slopes. Through his determination and early
morning snowboarding sessions with his most loyal customers he was able to breakdown the reluctant
resorts and hit their slopes. However, once the public sees one company do well they decide its time to
join the market. Competition began to pop up, as snowboarding became an international market.
Carpenter then had to ensure his spot in the competitive global market by problem solving quicker
than his competitors. Today, his business is still the best snowboard company in the market. The main
issue facing his company today is not just staying on top, but remaining in business. The popularity of
the sport rose so quickly and gained professional status in the nineties, but today the youth are
beginning to look towards other equipment. Carpenter has to find a way to ensure that

All Art, Including Music, Is Directly Influenced By The
All art, including music, is directly influenced by the environment in which the artist lives. It is
impossible to create art in a vacuum, unaffected by the society and events surrounding you. The time
period, location, and social changes and innovations can have a direct effect on the art produced.
Political events, especially wars, can have a strong influence on the music and art produced at that
time. For example, music may become more patriotic during a time of war as the composers strive to
publicize their national pride. I will explore this idea through the composer Igor Stravinsky and his
three most famous ballets in terms of music and choreography. Since I have a retrospective
perspective, I will be able to analyze the situation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His wide range of locations creates an expansive social and political influence on his works and their
choreography. Similar to many famous composers, Stravinsky did not study music from the time he
was a small child, but studied law and philosophy at St Petersburg University (Taruskin, White).
Throughout the course of his life, Stravinsky composed almost 100 works, ranging in genres. He
began to be commissioned by the Ballet Russes in 1909 and by the following year was asked by Serge
Diaghilev to produce The Firebird (Taruskin, White). The Ballet Russes was a Paris ballet company
run by Serge Diaghilev that was known for its creative and inventive performances. Many people did
not like the Ballet Russes innovative style and chose to watch classic ballet companies instead in order
to continue the classical style that many believed ballet should express. However, Diaghilev was
determined to do something unique with his ballet company and they made their performances
extremely modern (Lockspeiser). The Firebird was the work that set Stravinsky s career on fire, and
allowed his name to become spoken with respect and fame. It premiered at the Paris Opera on June
25, 1910. It may have been fate that this commission was offered to Stravinsky because it is said that
the Ballet Russes originally commissioned another composer for this piece, but that his slow progress
forced them to offer it to

Black Social, Intellectual, And Political Boundaries
Pan Africanism signifies the difficulties of black social, intellectual, and political notions over a two
hundred year span. What establishes Pan Africanism, on the basic level, is the unity of Africans
worldwide. Pan Africanists believe that the African people in its entirety, which includes the Diaspora
and the African continent, does not just share common beginnings but also a common destiny.
(Asante, 1976, p. 97) This ideology of an intertwined past and future of all the African people has
however took many forms, as different thinkers feel that there are different methods in achieving
African unity. Three great thinkers, W.E.B. Dubois, Marcus Garvey, and Malcolm X, were all leaders
of their own Pan African movement which each contained their own element in achieving Pan
Africanism. DuBois took a more academic stance which included the utilization of the elites, whereas
Garvey and Malcolm X were more so grassroots organizers as they believed in the bottom up decision
making rather than top down.
To commence, Dr. William Edward Burghardt DuBois, better known as W.E.B. Dubois, is
acknowledged as the Father of Pan Africanism. (Esedebe, 1971, p. 84) One of DuBois first movement
towards Pan Africanism was his idea of the Talented Tenth. He felt that in order to save the Negro race
it must be done by exceptional men. (Franklin, 2011, p. 301) Dubois believed that the development of
the Negro race must be done through college education. This involved writing books,

back lash from the Native American communities demanding that they change their name and mascot
due its racial insensitivity and stereotyping of the Native American people. Some will debate that sport
team names and mascots like that of the Red Skins, Cleveland Indians, Atlanta Braves or the Chicago
Blackhawks are not offensive but in my personal opinion Pro sports teams should not be allowed to

I thoroughly enjoyed the behavior change program. I started this program thinking one way about

however, there were some weeks where I felt I did not reach the goal I set for myself. That was to be
expected so it never derailed my motivation when I came up short on my goals. I did meet all of my
long term goal. In the end I gained more flexibility while still improving my strength and maintain my
body composition. I also found a workout that I enjoy doing which distresses and relaxes me.
The only change that needs to be made to continue my progress is that I need to devote more time to
working on my flexibility, even more than I already do. Whenever I have free time I should spend 15
20 minutes working on my flexibility so that I can eventually get to where I want to be. Before, once I
finished my yoga workouts for the week is was sometimes hard to find the motivation to work on my
flexibility during my down time. That is now something I would like to change.

Jane Eyre, The Bluest Eye, And Feminism

Jane Eyre, The Bluest Eye, and Feminism Feminism. It s a big concept in society today, but has it
always been that way? Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte is a famous work on the basis of her own
experiences. In this novel, the author shapes a tough and independent woman who pursues true love
and equality. In the Victorian period, the image of Jane Eyre cast a sharp contrast to the man
dominated society. She stands for a new lady who has the courage to fight for her own rights and love.
The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison is also a popular work that discusses the hardships of black
feminism. During Pecola s time in the story, she is faced with many obstacles that endanger her
womanhood, and the point of her femininity is put into place. Pecola s hardships in her life are faced
through her race, and this is a contrast to the white male dominated society. Let s begin with what
feminism really is. Feminist theory, according to my first literary criticism, by Haiyan Gao, is to
achieve gender equality in all of humanity. All feminist theory has a basic premise, which is, women
worldwide are under an oppression, discrimination, and hierarchy state. In such a social structure
prevalent among women in the political, economic, cultural, ideological, knowledge, ideas, ethics and
other fields are in an unequal position with men, even in a private sphere of family, women are also in
a position of inequality with men. Feminism

The Self Essay
The Self Every situation that an individual is exposed to throughout life, helps mold our self. As
humans we have the ability to see ourselves from the outside, and all through life we try to see what
others see and our self revolves around the generalized other. We observe how others perceive us and
we make conclusions depending on our observations. How we act around others depends on the image
we feel they have towards us.

interactions with others. Cooley described this process as the ... Show more content on

On the other hand if you see yourself as an individual who can communicate without a problem and
you see that you can keep others interested in a given conversations, your reaction is more positive.
Through this looking glass self we develop a self concept. Depending on the observations we make
concerning the reactions of others we develop feelings and ideas about ourselves. The reflection we
see in the mirror is either negative or positive depending on the feedback we get back from those
around us. Misjudgments of the reactions of others become part of our self concept also the
misinterpretations of how others think of us. Self concepts begins in childhood but it continues to
develop throughout life. As we observe how other people react to us, we modify our self.
The self is never a finished project, and it continues to change as our life takes different turns. Our self
reacts to the environment that we are in. As the self expands we put together the different reactions
making us a unique individual. Every individual has a different way of thinking and therefore they

The Sirens Richard Wilbur Analysis
The Sirens by Richard Wilbur dramatizes the innate desire to experience life to the fullest. The author
parallels this to the Siren s song that ancient travelers were drawn towards. The Sirens were creatures
in ancient mythology who lured sailors that would later be shipwrecked on the shore of creatures
island. They enticed sailors with their delighting songs luring them closer, but when these people gave
way to their burning desires they ultimately lose everything. The Greek story of the Sirens acts as a
metaphor for the human call to walk the road that is their life and though we may have regrets, if one
chooses not to follow the road than they will never truly find their self. In the opening of the poem, the
modern narrator is wandering ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

that he will forever experience(12,11). There is no end point to his passion to fully chase life. He will

finds that he is richer because of his regret (14). The things that he never saw or accomplished made

he faced he became stronger emotionally, fully understanding hardship. In the same way the eyes of

Human Relationship With Waterfowl
Humans have a very influential relation ship with waterfowl, theres two sides to it. On one side
humans have completely changed waterfowls natural migrating path. With the modern expansion of
cities, certain species have adapted and now use them as refuges, such as the Canada goose. Through
climate change humans have disrupted waterfowls natural patterns of migration, and most species are
un able to adapt quickly enough to the rapidly changing temperatures. The other side of humans
relationship with waterfowl is that through our modern agriculture practices waterfowl don t
necessarily need to migrate to get food, only to leave the cold. Most waterfowl species take advantage
of the surplus grain left in agriculture fields, some of which have became overpopulated and harm
other species of waterfowl. With the increase of agriculture fields, wetlands have been destroyed and
in tern waterfowl have lost a significant number of areas to breed and reproduce in. There is a
overpopulation of certain species and a decrease in wetlands, it is important to stop both of these
issues otherwise certain species will be taken over by. Hunters and bird watchers are those who are
primarily concerned with these issues, but other out doors mans such as fisherman should be
concerned. As shown in The Role of Waterfowl in Lower Great Lakes Aquatic Food Webs by M. L.

Athenian Comedy Way back when, only males were allowed to be in plays. Since there was limited
males who actually wanted to perform, some guys had to take on more than one role. The plays were
performed in open air theatre. Athenian comedy is originally from Ancient Greece. Athenian comedy
is broken up into three section: Old comedy, New comedy, and Middle comedy.
OLD COMEDY
Old comedy came about in honors of Dionysus. It was based on Fertility riots and political satire. It
was comedy of the 5th century B.C. The only play that was completed from the earliest days was
Aristophanes Acharnians. People that did old comedy seemed to have a humorous sense of humor.
They joked around about all kinds things that were happening around them. It could be about famous
people to the neighbors dog. They joked about religion and mythology, but they never seemed to

Inequality Between The Authoritarian Teacher And Students
2.22 Inequality of Intelligence
The hierarchical power relationship between the authoritarian teacher and students inherently stands in
opposition to the equality of intelligence. Probing further in the direction of intelligence, authority is
constructed on the ground of a certain form of inequality between who is intelligent and who is not
(Tocqueville et al., 2000). This premise of inequality in intelligence is enacted throughout the
educational process in traditional teaching. According to Rancière (1991), the pedagogical myth
divides intelligence into two, a superior intelligence and an inferior one (p.7). The superior
intelligence knows things by reason, proceeds by method, from the simple to the complex, from the
part to the whole , whereas the inferior intelligence registers perceptions by chance, retains them,
interprets and repeats them empirically, within the closed circle of habit and need (ibid.). An
authoritarian teacher may take this binary conception of intelligence for granted, maintaining that s/he
has a superior intelligence while students have an inferior one. S/he is likely to present him/herself as
the necessary opposite of the students. By considering the students as less intelligent beings with
immature minds, s/he claims his or her own superior intelligence: s/he is the one being capable of
opening the curtains that hide the true meaning of the knowledge. S/he attempts to convince his or her
students that s/he has direct access to the knowledge.

Immanuel Kant was a man before his time. His philosophies, as outlined in

peace. By this, he is referring to the use of assassins and treasonous deeds. This concludes the first
section of his essay. The second section of quot;Perpetual Peace quot; is more in depth. Kant gives us
three articles that define what type of government nations must apply to reach a perpetual peace. He
begins this section by arguing that it is not in man s nature to be at peace. He declares that the natural
state of man is war.
He goes on to say: quot;...for the suspension of hostilities does not provide the security of peace...
quot; (111) However, it can be reached in a state of lawfulness. Kant explains why republican
constitutions are vital to ensure the peace of nations. He reasons this by arguing that this is the only
type of government that guarantees freedom and equality of the people. Kant goes on to state that the
republican form of government is the most difficult to form and maintain. But, he reaffirms that a
republic is the type of government most apt to achieve peace because it gives its people a voice,

I Am An Average Man And A Presumed Widower
Under The Rug This is the start of my journal. I am an average man and a presumed widower. I work
as a passport inspector at the East Nary Checkpoint. I applied for this journal to express my thoughts
with someone, my wife was deported a few days ago, marked as a political dissident. It s a somber
fact that my future children will grow up living without their father, one that I wish to overlook and
forget these next few days. The work I do at the checkpoint is tedious and arduous. It was opened up
by some arbitrary measures through international pressure I believe, at least the pay is good. My
process of verification first starts with checking the passports for: issuing cities, province, legal name,
photo evidence, and gender. The next ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While on a break before the last train departure at 5:30 I was reading the paper. Tensions between the
East and the West are continuing to boil, as a result the only existing border could be closed down
until diplomatic ambassadors came to a compromise. There are few political articles in the news. Most
of it is international news, we don t know much about what happens here. Whether it s from the
general lack of interest that s associated with the bureaucratic autocracy or just apathy. Though much
is known about history, the library has produced large volumes and accounts that are available to the
public. One of my favorite books, out of fear or fascination, is the encyclopedia of the last century.
The age of individuality and an idea called the profit motive . That s the history of the old world.
Maybe these journals will offer solace to me. I m determined to write these however, it s becoming

The Rhetorical Analysis Of President Lyndon Baines...
By 1965, the United States of America was almost in chaos due to the Civil Rights Movement, and it s
often violence responses. However, on March 15 of that year, President Lyndon Baines Johnson spoke
to the members of Congress about the importance of Civil Rights not only to him, but to the principles
of the Constitution and everything this country stands for. Johnson also briefly spoke of and explained
the bill he planned to present in order to ensure that African Americans can exercise their
Constitutional right to vote. The speech, called We Shall Overcome, was not only very effective with
its use of ethos, logos, and pathos, but was also very effective in its overall purpose, an argument that
no American citizen should be denied their rights due to the color of their skin. Lyndon Baines
Johnson s use of ethos, or credibility, in his speech was very simple, but at the same time, very
powerful. Johnson s credibility simply comes from the fact that, at the time of the speech, he was the
President of The United States of America. Although this seems very obvious, he reminds the
audience of his power several times throughout the speech by referring to himself as your President
(5,6). He also reminds the audience of his power by speaking about a bill that he plans to present, and
three bills he has already passed, in order to fix the issue at hand. Although Johnson does well to make
sure he is seen as an authority figure who should be listened to, he also does very well

Effects Of Ww2 On American Society
The Effects of World War II on American Society Introduction paragraph... World War II (Sep 1, 1939
Sep 2, 1945) led to many things. Our Technology as a whole grew more advanced, we learned new
techniques in the medical field and most importantly democracy spread throughout the allies. The
allies included America, Russia, Great Britain, and France. These countries united to defeat Germany,
Italy, and Japan who were known as the axis powers. It was a hard fought war that was very costly for
both sides. American Society Prior to World War II A decade before the outbreak of World War II
America was in the midst of the Great Depression. The great Depression lasted from 1929 to around

In the years leading up to World War II Americans feared the Russians and Joseph Stalin, dictator of
the Soviet Union from 1929 1953. His self centered and blood thirsty characteristics were one to fear
as millions of his own people were killed during his reign (Joseph Stalin). Russia was under
communism which contradicted the American democracy. The Cold War was never America against
Russia instead the two countries fought through what is called a Proxy Wars. A proxy war is a
confrontation between two powers where neither directly engages the other. This frequently involves
both countries fighting their opponent s allies, or assisting their allies in fighting their opponent. To
give an example, America would help one side of a country or state while Russia would help the other.
The two superpowers would assist their side of the country with financial help and supplying their
side with weapons. Whoever would win the small civil war would either have a communist or
democratic government depending on the outcome of the

The Problem Of Crime Rates
Overview of the Problem I currently the Chief of Police in Savannah, Georgia and the problem that
our city in currently facing is an increase in the crime rate in the city especially in the area of violent
crimes. Violent crime rose 8.8 percent in 2014 over the previous year with robberies and shooting
accounting for most of those crimes. The city reported 32 homicides in 2014, which was two more
than 2013, and the number of rapes increased from 49 to 64 . The City Manager and City Council has
informed me that these numbers are unacceptable and in an effort to control, the rising crime rate I
propose the following measures (McCammon, 2015).
Constraints and Lack of Resources One of the largest constraints due to lack of resources we face in
controlling crime in the Savannah Police Department is the shortage of police officers. On any given
week between the five different precincts there can be a shortage of 50 to 60 officers overall. As a
result, the officers spend most of their time responding to 911 calls and therefore do not have time to
staff their beats or practice crime prevention. This also does not allow them any time to interact with
the public, which is an important part of crime prevention, and it can leave a precinct un patrolled if
they receive as few as three overlapping calls that require a back up as six officers can be all that is
available during a short staff shift. In addition, it results in neglected citizens complaints as it leaves
the officers little

Persuasive Essay Smoking
People will argue banning smoking is impossible. People may have a lot of pressures and stress
because of personal and economic problems. The reason people choose smoke because it can make
them feel relax and refill energy while going through a hard time like busy work. In addition, people
who smoke also create jobs and bring a huge profit to the government. They provide funds which are
used for building hospitals, schools, and other public buildings. Despite this reason, it is just an excuse
for the smoker. Smoking people claim that it helps release stress, but they forget about the negative
aspects and resource of smoking outweigh the positive. Smoking is a big health hazard consequence
for people who smoke and who don t smoke. We all know that smokers have the right to choose what
to do with their own health but if it affects to other people then it is not a personal problem anymore.
Is smoking now will be a personal issue or social issue? Let see what Sue say about this. Sue is my
supervisor and she is one of the people who really care about health, so in the interview we talk about
one of the social issue now is smoking should be ban or not? The influence of smoking on health is
not only concern about smoker but also affect the entire population in the economy and society. First,
Sue mention that smoking is less socially acceptable. Why? One of the reason that Sue told us is a lot

reflective of his career at Brookfield. He touched many students lives as a teacher, and they influenced
him as well. He remembers when he first came to Brookfield and began his time there as a young and
ambitious man. From there, he began to grow into a man who knew the way to truly teach his students
would be to create a feeling of mutual love between the two parties. Time passed for the old teacher

Reflection On Ethics And Ethics
Great individuals have great ethics and great values. Ethics and morality can be used interchangeably
as they sound as if they mean the same although there is a wide distinction between them. Strictly
speaking, morality is used to refer to what we would call moral standards and moral conduct while
ethics is used to refer to the formal study of those standards and conduct. For this reason, the study of
ethics is also often called moral philosophy. (Gordana D 2007)
Morality comes first which constitutes of our beliefs and practices on what is right and wrong while
ethics comes next which is a reflection on the moral principles by our conscience. Morality is
influenced by law, religion, ethical relativism and professional codes.

When we have performances the amount of time we get to make a routine and practice is pretty less,
so not everyone gets to be a part of the team. Kicking someone out is not as easy as it sounds. As
rebellious as youngsters are, such fights could get out of hand. After studying about the normative
theories I realised that while making decisions about who should be removed, which show to perform
in etc. the main thing that I think of is what is going to benefit more number of people the most. If I
chose to remove a particular person, it brought them grief and guilt on my behalf in the short term but
in the long term, the level of performance rose leaving the crew, judges and the audience happy. Also,
sometimes we had to choose on which show to perform and which not to. In this case we would select
the show which gave us more exposure because it offers us greater benefit opposed to a show at a
smaller level. Thus, in this way the theory of utilitarianism helped me make decisions when confused

Hitchhiker s Guide To The Galaxy Analysis
A great example of sci fi parody is The Hitchhiker s Guide to the Galaxy. This movie is about a man
named Arthur Dent, who is trying to make it by after the Earth was destroyed in order to make way for
a construction project (The Hitchhiker s). This movie is extremely random and the plot does not have
one straight line. It is very hard to follow and the goals of the heroes are constantly changing. The
main thing this movie did was critique society. Even though the Earth was destroyed in the first
twenty minutes of this movie, the traditions of the Earth were constantly ridiculed through the science
fiction aspect. One example of this can be seen through the alien creatures named the Vogons. The
Vogons are fat, leathered skinned beasts that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

people who run our society. This is saying how terrible and inefficient our bureaucratic system is.
They use the science fiction element to separate us a little from the reality of it all and then they use
the parody to make us see how ridiculous our society really is. There was a lot of critiquing society in
this movie and it was done in this pattern of separation and explanation. One of the main characters in
this movie was the President of the galaxy named Zaphod (The Hitchhiker s). Zaphod has a lot of
science fiction characteristics that separate him from our world. One of his characteristics is that he
has two heads. The parody of him is that throughout the film was showing how clueless and vain he
was. This parody of his cluelessness shows how politicians can be. The character of Zaphod was
meant to comment on the fake two headed politicians of our society. They are just meant to stand
there, smile, and let someone else do all the work. Zaphod is just a figurehead and the writer is

The rising need for protection of intellectual property rights and improvement of public health lead the
pharmaceutical industry to establish an agreement in 2001 with the World Trade Organization. In
Sanofi s earliest archived sustainability effort, Environmental Progress Report 2001, it states that
Sanofi has taken initiatives to promote sustainable development as a reaction to the rise of wider and
on going responsibilities. They have pursued these defensive efforts through promoting safety in the
workplace, industrial hygiene, respecting the environment, training investment, and many more.
Sanofi is shelling out great investments for their sustainability programs. In 2001 alone, Sanofi
allocated 11.2 Million Euros for a program to limit its operations impact on the environment. By 2008,
Sanofi showed efforts of compliance with the United Nation s Agenda 21 Blueprint for sustainability
by establishing the four pillars (i.e. Patient, Ethics, Planet, and People) that serves as the foundation of
their sustainability efforts . In the following year, Sanofi began its transformation to a diversified
global health care company. With this, a Corporate Social Responsibility Direction was created which
changed their sustainability report to an encompassing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) report.
These efforts lead Sanofi to embed their ethical responsibilities and discretionary responsibilities into

Hamlet And Family Dysfunctional In William Shakespeare s...
Hamlet..? We all know, and have heard of the great play, and book of the famous tragedy that was
made by Shakespeare. Some debate to see the story as a good piece of art to something that teaches
and also reveals some traits that people have. When we all think of hamlet I believe we think of a
crazy time were a king was killed for a throne, and it just so happens to be the death of a king who had
an insane family, but there is so much more to it then that. Hamlet is a bunch of things when I look at
it. What I see is a time and place were the actions of people were expressed in a way that the world is
not perfect. We see this royal family with deep family disfunction, distrust and mistrust within each
other, and just straight up corruption. People need to understand that this play holds deadly truths and
lies, but also a handful of passion, sadness, and the need of love. But sometimes love can come with
piece. A powerful word to describe the Hamlet family is very dysfunctional. Family dysfunction rules
out there hope of trusting one another and depending on the family to even be a family. In the book
Hamlet as you read through the pages, you will begin to see that. The whole family will rarely sit with
each other and just enjoy the presence of their company without being suspicious of some accusation
that just happens to be brought up, it s as if to call it a big family dysfunction. Having a family is

REPORTS INTRODUCTION Writing reports in organic chemistry lab may differ from the way it s
done in general chemistry. One goal of this course is to introduce you to the record keeping methods
used in research labs. Such methods are designed to organize experimental data in a format similar to
that required for publication in major scientific journals. Here are some important considerations that
apply in research settings. 1. Your work is unique, meaning that you might be the only person
performing certain experiments. 2. Research is an ongoing process. The projects assigned to you will
likely continue after you leave. People assigned to those projects will need ... Show more content on

Examples are the determination of physical constants such as melting point, boiling point, or density,
and instrumental techniques such as infrared (IR) spectroscopy. Sometimes these techniques are
referred to as analytical techniques. LAB REPORTS FOR CHEMICAL PREPARATIONS, OR
SYNTHESIS This type of report refers to experiments whose main goal is to prepare a pure substance
from specific starting materials. This necessarily involves a chemical transformation, or reaction. In
the simplest case, there is only one step. The starting materials are combined and a product forms.
This product is isolated, purified, and characterized, producing the final outcome of the experiment. In
a multistep synthesis, the product of the first step is used as a starting material in a second step, and so
on, until a final product is obtained. No multistep syntheses are performed in organic lab I. Some two
step syntheses are performed in organic lab II. FORMAT AND GRADING CRITERIA FOR
PRELABS AND LAB REPORTS The general format for most prelabs and lab reports is given below.
Specific differences with examples will be discussed later. You are expected to include the following
items in your lab notebook. All prelabs and lab reports are graded on a 100 point scale with the
following distribution. INDIVIDUAL PRELAB (100 pts) Due at the beginning of each experiment. 1

Summary Of The Movie Interstellar
PHYS180: Space, Time and Matter Instructor: Professor Tracy Webb Assignment 1 Special and
General Relativity Churui Jiang (260785561) October 3, 2017 Topic 9 The movie Interstellar is unique
among Hollywood films in that it actually tried to get the physics right. Provide an overview and a
critique (which can be positive or negative) of the Special and General relativistic effects that appear
in this film. Understanding of Relativity in Movie Interstellar I watched the movie Interstellar when I
was in Grade 10. At that time I knew it was a wonderful film not only by the notable director
Christopher Nolan but also by its impressive discussion of love and science stories. But I did pay more
attention only to the love scenes at that time (Cooper his daughter, Brand Edmunds) because fully
understanding the scientific theories about the universe in that movie is not an easy thing for a high
school student. However, after studying some principles of relativity in PHYS180 class, I realized
maybe I can use the knowledge to explain some confusing things which interested me when I watched
the movie before. So my main goal in this assignment is to talk about the scientific facts, especially
relativity theories, appearing in the movie. I hope I ve covered most of the points.

One of the major advantages of the North was their transportation routes. They had many more roads,

they encouraged the South to do the same. As opposed to the south, the people of the north wanted a

Group Communication Analysis Paper
Analysis Paper
In my opinion, group work is a type of cooperative learning that helps people to accomplish a certain
task in a faster and more effective manner. Team working also helps to achieve the tasks that are
impossible to finish by one individual. However, if people in a group have a lot of conflicts, group
work will not be able to achieve as much as we expected. There are many reasons which lead to
dissatisfaction in group work such as individualism as well as conflicts in opinion and time.
Initially, I had a negative view on group working because of the challenges that I had. When I was in

Secondly, I want to mention our group climate. In my opinion, our group has a supportive climate.
Each member is willing to help other members in the group to complete their tasks. Our group favors
description compared to evaluation. Instead of criticizing others behaviors and ideas, we often tell our
feelings about problems. All the group members always encourage each other to share their opinions
and feelings with the group. Even though some opinions are too conflicting, the main purpose is trying
to give all the members equal opportunities to talk about their ideas. Thus, the success of the group is
the consequence from the equal contributions of all the members. Besides, in most of the discussions
of our group, we are oriented toward problem solving; therefore, we look for the consensus of the
ideas in order to solve the problems effectively and quickly. Because our group has many members
who have senses of humor, we always maintain an interesting and comfortable atmosphere to gain
assertiveness in the group. Sometimes, Ngoc and Phong share their experiences of how they solve
their families problems. Through perceiving more deeply about each member s own life, we have
gradually gotten closer together; therefore, we are always honest and open to each other. Also, we do
not criticize when a group member cannot finish his or her task as expected because there are always
personal issues out of the class. In addition to

Contributions Of Stephen Jay Gould
Stephen Jay Gould was an American paleontologist, evolutionary biologist and a historian of science
(The Contributions of Evolution). Stephen Jay Gould was also a science writer (The Editors). Gould
was born in Bayside, New York on September 10, 1941 (The Editors). He died on May 20, 2002 in
New York City. Gould s own personal research focused on the evolution and speciation of West Indian
land snails (The Editors).
Gould had a large educational background. He graduated from Antioch College in Yellow Springs,
Ohio in 1963 (Encyclopedia of World Biography). Stephen received a pH. D in paleontology at
Columbia University in 1967 (The Editors). Also at Columbia, he studied evolutionary biology and
paleontology (Encyclopedia of World Biography). He then became a professor at Harvard University
in 1973 (Encyclopedia of world Biography). Also at Harvard, he widened his study of the speciation
and evolution of land snails in the West Indies (Encyclopedia of World Biography).
Stephen Jay Gould had many major contributions to the biological community. Most of Gould s
research was based on land snails (The Contributions of Evolution). His most recognized contribution
is his theory of punctuated equilibrium. In 1972 Gould and his colleague, Niles Eldredge published
their theory of punctuated equilibrium, a landmark contribution to the study of evolution (Academy of

How Does Montresor Plan To Kill Fortunato
The thousand injuries of Fortunato I had borne as best I could; but when he ventured upon insult, I
vowed revenge. ... I must not only punish, but punish with impunity. (Poe, 233)
Some of Montresor s very first words when he is telling the story show that he wants revenge against
Fortunato. By saying, I must not only punish, but punish with impunity, it is shown that he intends to
get away with the deed he plans to commit.
It must be understood that neither by word not deed had I given Fortunato cause to doubt my
goodwill. I continued, as was my wont, to smile in his face, and he did not perceive that my smile now
was at the thought of his immolation. (Poe, 234)
By this point in the story, Montresor is clearly planning to kill Fortunato. While to Fortunato he
appears friendly and cheerful, he is secretly thinking of ways to murder his friend. Montresor does not
want Fortunato to suspect anything, as is shown in the sentence, It must be understood that neither by

Ukiyo e is the name given to one of the most important art forms in all of Japan. Arriving as a new
form of art in the 1700 s these prints served as a record of daily life and pleasures in a newly wealthy
Japanese society. The Japanese themselves had long regarded pleasure as transient because of their
Buddhist heratige, because of this the word Ukiyo e actually means pictures of the floating world .
These prints were truly art which reflected the whims of the masses. They record popular styles of
dress, new hairstyles etc. They also record the popular Kabuki theater actors, the most beautiful geisha

This traditionally formatted book was the first set of prints to give Utamaro some noteriety. After a
few similar books, Utamaro began to develop his figurative style even more. He elongated the figures
in his prints and drew the heads more oveal rather than circular. It is at this time that his talent for
arranging and relating figures began to take shape (Hiller 42).
By 1792, Uatamaro embarked upon the subject to which he would devote the rest of his life. His

the most incredible series Utamaro undertook at this time was the half length self portrait series.
Traditionally a figure was portrayed as a full length figure, but these intimite prints of simply

Japanese printmaking. Soon after the half length portrait series Utamaro embarked upon two other

These two sets of prints had the smoewhat portraiture feeling of the half length portraits. In addition

Aristotle s Mandate For Tragedy In The Play Seduced By Sam...
Seduced by Sam Shepard is a quite confusing play with a plethora of secrets, tales, and lies set in a
remote location in Mexico. During the production we see that the characters unravel as more
characters join the initial two cast members. They begin to reveal the details of their past lives, unseen
current events, and future events unknown to all.
The playwright, Sam Shepard, wrote as an insight to how secrets, allusions, and delusions can create
chaos. The delusion of stability and comfort is broken down in the play until it no longer exists, then it
is replaced with a false sense of fulfillment. I believe this play does follows Aristotle s mandate for
tragedy. Here we have Henry Hackamore, a man who once had everything in life, in a child state of
mind going insane. Henry has fallen so far from who he use to be, but he tries to reclaim himself with
the presence of Luna and Miami. It doesn t work though. He comes to a tragic end of complete
insanity, but I am not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From the beginning, you can see that Henry will only let Raul touch him, but it is very awkward how
they interact with each other. Maybe Henry has depicted Raul as a women in his head now or maybe it
is just an awkward friendship. Also, Henry seems to have a problem with woman. Luna clearly shows
interests in him, but he shows mutual feelings towards her then takes it back. Seduced had an
awkward beginning with a little bit of annoyance that was very easy to follow. By the end of the play
it was filled with chaos and confusing that ended with an abrupt stop that brought us back to being
awkward with a little annoyance. The set of the play added to the confusion of the play. It almost felt
like the setting was a war zone, with the war being what was going on in Henry s head. It also felt as

Starbucks And Its Impact On The World Coffee Industry Essay
Millions of people all over the world will take time out of their day to walk into a Starbucks for a cup
of Joe . Coffee is the most popular leading beverage that is enjoyed throughout the world and in so
many different forms. You can get coffee just about anywhere, but there is a reason why people choose
Starbucks coffee. Starbucks is known for their friendly, positive environment with staff that is truly
accommodating and welcoming. People buy Starbucks for what it represents and the status image that
comes along with it. Starbucks has an excellent business structure due to its national and global
success. Starbucks stands strong in the world coffee industry and still is financially succeeding even in
hard economic times with coffee that may seem overpriced to many.
The coffee industry is continually growing regardless of the increase cost of coffee since January
2009. The price has been rising not because of the price of coffee itself, but because of the supply
chain and the current economic situation around the world. In 2012, Starbucks had to raise their prices
globally, but especially in the United States and China, due to rising prices of coffee and other
ingredients they use to make their signature drinks. Although prices were raised globally due to high
demand of the product and the cost of producing it, there is still a strong demand for Starbucks
because of their large consumer base. Starbucks main competitors are McDonald s and Dunkin
Donuts. Starbucks knows

Biomedical sciences have made extremely beneficial impacts through the development of new
medicines, treatments, and therapies. One particularly innovative field of research is the use of human
embryonic stem cells. There are different types of stem cells being used, such as adult stem cells, but
human embryonic stem cells are quite magical. They have the capability to develop into any type of

Similarities Between Walter Lee And Frederick Douglass
Are We The Same or Nah? When two people are compared everyone pays attention to the similarities,
but not nearly as many people pay attention to the differences. Frederick Douglass was a slave in his
youth life and soon escaped to his freedom and became a writer. From A Raisin In The Sun, walter Lee
is a man of the middle class and thrives for money. When Frederick Douglass and Walter Lee are
compared there are multiple differences. These differences are work ethic, what is important, and also
loyalty. Many have worked hard like Frederick Douglass to reach their dreams, whereas others, such
as Walter Lee, will just wait for the good in life to happen to them or just give up.When Frederick
Douglass was a young boy he nobody bothered to supply slaves with an education. With this being
said Frederick Douglass took the time to get an education himself. When Frederick Douglass was

Frederick Douglass believes that the most important thing to him is having his freedom. When it is
finally ours, this freedom, this liberty / This beautiful / and terrible thing, needful to man as air, /
usable as earth; when it belongs at last to all (Hayden 1 4). In the eyes of Frederick Douglass getting
his freedom is his number one priority to be equal just like everyone else. While Walter s is talking to
his mom about what is the most important thing is, his mom tells him what she thought to be
important . Once upon a time freedom used to be life now it s money. I guess the world really do
change..... (74 Hansberry). In the eyes of Walter the most important thing to him is making a lot of

Essay on A Discourse of Remours for the Amorous
The great playwright Christopher Marlowe also wrote one of the most famous lyrical poems in British
literature, The Passionate Shepherd to His Love. In this pastoral portrait, Marlowe reveals the
shepherd s desire for a certain young lady to be his love. In The Nymph s Reply to the Shepherd, Sir
Walter Raleigh voices the young lady s answer to this invitation. The two poems share the identical
structures of rhyme scheme and meter. Also, the speakers share a similar desire for youthful love.
However, these similarities are overshadowed by the differences in the author s backgrounds which, in
turn, influence the starkly different characteristics of the speakers of the poems their view of reality
and their motive for love.

The few similarities in these two poems, however, are far overshadowed by the differences that exist.
When analyzing these differences, it is helpful to first examine the contrasts in the lives of the authors.
Christopher Marlowe was born into a lower class family, but his education enabled him to work for a
theatre company in London. From there, he became a dramatist, a poet, and a playwright for the rest
of his short life. Marlowe was known for the interesting company that he kept. On the night of his
death, he was with three friends a moneylender, a con artist, and a spy for the Queen s secret service.
The four of them were eating and got into an argument which ended with Marlowe being stabbed and
killed. Sir Walter Raleigh lived a quite different lifestyle. He was an explorer who led an exhibition to
the fabled City of Gold. He also founded several colonies and named the territory of Virginia. This
was done in honor of the virgin queen , Elizabeth I. This was no surprise because Raleigh was a
favored suitor of the Queen. She gave Raleigh the honorary title Sir and lavished him with money and
land. However, the Queen discovered that Raleigh was, in fact, not interested in her, but was instead
interested in a lady named Bess Thockmorton. Because of this, the Queen promptly had Raleigh
imprisoned in the Tower of London for thirteen years. His great

  • 2. Concentration Camps Of The Holocaust Holocaust On the 30th of January 1933 a genocide called the Holocaust started, where people who weren t considered the perfect male or female were sent to concentration camps where they were made to work hard and very little fed. They were also tortured, experimented on and killed. The Holocaust was started by a man called Adolf Hitler who took over Germany and was against Jews, disabled people, homosexuals, black people, homeless people and the mentally ill. Although people call the camps concentration camps there were different types of camps like extermination camps, labour camps, prisoner of war camps and transit camps. The first ever concentration camp was called Dachau and the first people to be sent there were politicians who were against Hitler s ways and people who were considered asocial , this included the disabled, the homeless and the mentally ill. After Kristallnacht in 1938 the Germans started killing more Jewish people which meant more Jews were sent to concentration camps. Jews were forced out of their homes and had to live in ghettos and in some of the larger ones over 1000 people were sent to the camps a day. Life in the camps was horrible and very harsh. Prisoners were forced to work very hard and were given hardly any food, they shared a crowded bunk with 3 or more people and there was no bedding. They were tortured and killed usually for not working hard enough, they were also experimented on. While concentration camps were meant to work the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. The Medi An Effective Message 5.6 Buzzwords The news media used a few key phrases that were repeated in order to perpetuate positive understandings of the NZDF deployment of troops in Afghanistan. Messages such as NZDF personnel are not going to war , not just fighting Taliban... , not just about a war on terror, but also about the overall kindness and affable attitude of New Zealand reconstruction, hospitals, schools, (He Toki, 2013). The airtime in mainstream media is increasingly limited and these kinds of buzzword portray an effective message in increasingly shrinking time frames (Louw, 16). However, these buzzwords extended further than the media itself, they were preserved among government too. The Annual Report for the year ended 30th June 2002, has a whole section reiterating peacekeeping highlighting the active, and long standing participation in international peace operations. In this section noting, that there have been more operational commitments in the last five years compared to the previous 20. This was a good thing (Annual Report, 2002). 6. United States Health Care Canada vs United States Health Care President Obama promised to all Americans that they would finally have an opportunity to obtain or purchase health insurance in the United States for the first time and for those that already had insurance he promised to them that they would be able to keep the insurance they already had and it would not increase because of Obama Care. After the passing of Obama Care the only truth was that Americans could purchase health care but other than that the rest were lies. People that already had insurance plans some of their plans went up and some plans even got dropped because of Obama Care. Many Americans now ask themselves why do they have to suffer and pay more for health insurance when they did nothing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... ( Maria ) Obama Care is still a step in the right direction, though because it now allows anyone to obtain health coverage that wants it. Lastly, another downside to Obama Care is that the people that did not have health coverage before are now forced to get it or will get fined on their taxes at the end of the year. Many Americans do not even have the money to buy it so how will they pay the fine? It is highly unlikely the U.S government will never see that money any time soon. The republican party to this day are still trying to repeal certain parts of Obama Care because it does not work. The legislatures of the United States should take a hard look at how Canada operates with their health care laws. In Canada their legislators passed a better law allowing all citizens to have the same health care. Sure there are longer lines, but at the end of the day everyone is on the same team. The U.S on the other hand has not played as a team but still as an individual. Why make others pay higher prices for doing the right thing all their life? The U.S legislators should pass a law like Canada and make everyone pay equally or do not pass anything because it s not fair game. Health care is valued by many citizens in the United States and in Canada. Both countries have their own health care systems to provide coverage for citizens. Canada has basic health care coverage for all citizens through federal legislation, but not all services are covered. Additional health ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Essay On Lingua Franca This paper looks at the aspects of a lingua franca and its role in societies. Also, the adaptation of other languages vocabulary and usage into the English language, and how English has impacted vocabulary and grammar structures on other languages. Furthermore, it talks about the effects on minority languages due to the continuous spread and dominance of English. Later, it touches upon some positive aspects that it has brought into modern day life across the globe. English as a Lingua Franca Over centuries, the English language has evolved from the roots of other ancient languages including: Latin, the Germanic languages, French, even Greek. Their influences are clear to see in its vocabulary and spoken dialects, which have also adopted words into its lexicon. Most of the aforementioned have their complexities, causing difficulties for students and scholars to learn as second languages. However, English is a much simpler language to comprehend due to its limited inflections and familiarity of spoken and written words. Thus, it has become the lingua franca for people around the world and is taught in the classrooms of most non native speaking countries. As we can see in most areas of international business and education, the dominance of English is growing at a rapid pace that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 9. The Success Of Burton s Snowboards Started Selling From... Burton s Snowboards began selling from the back of a car. The company s success is shocking looking at the startup and market that Jake Burton Carpenter entered into. Carpenter had the goal of becoming rich and found a way to do so through hard work, pride, and a couple pieces of wood. The snowboards he made in the beginning were poorly designed and did not sell because he had no interested customers. The industry he was trying to sell in did not yet exist, so he had to make it. Finally finding the right target market and a place to use his products his snowboards began to soar in popularity. Carpenter had to fight to have snowboards allowed on the slopes. Through his determination and early morning snowboarding sessions with his most loyal customers he was able to breakdown the reluctant resorts and hit their slopes. However, once the public sees one company do well they decide its time to join the market. Competition began to pop up, as snowboarding became an international market. Carpenter then had to ensure his spot in the competitive global market by problem solving quicker than his competitors. Today, his business is still the best snowboard company in the market. The main issue facing his company today is not just staying on top, but remaining in business. The popularity of the sport rose so quickly and gained professional status in the nineties, but today the youth are beginning to look towards other equipment. It is impossible to create art in a vacuum, unaffected by the society and events surrounding you. The time period, location, and social changes and innovations can have a direct effect on the art produced. Political events, especially wars, can have a strong influence on the music and art produced at that time. For example, music may become more patriotic during a time of war as the composers strive to publicize their national pride. His wide range of locations creates an expansive social and political influence on his works and their choreography. Similar to many famous composers, Stravinsky did not study music from the time he was a small child, but studied law and philosophy at St Petersburg University (Taruskin, White). Throughout the course of his life, Stravinsky composed almost 100 works, ranging in genres. He began to be commissioned by the Ballet Russes in 1909 and by the following year was asked by Serge Diaghilev to produce The Firebird (Taruskin, White). The Ballet Russes was a Paris ballet company run by Serge Diaghilev that was known for its creative and inventive performances. Many people did not like the Ballet Russes innovative style and chose to watch classic ballet companies instead in order to continue the classical style that many believed ballet should express. However, Diaghilev was determined to do something unique with his ballet company and they made their performances extremely modern (Lockspeiser). The Firebird was the work that set Stravinsky s career on fire, and allowed his name to become spoken with respect and fame. It premiered at the Paris Opera on June 25, 1910. It may have been fate that this commission was offered to Stravinsky because it is said that the Ballet Russes originally commissioned another composer for this piece, but that his slow progress forced them to offer it to ... What establishes Pan Africanism, on the basic level, is the unity of Africans worldwide. Pan Africanists believe that the African people in its entirety, which includes the Diaspora and the African continent, does not just share common beginnings but also a common destiny. (Asante, 1976, p. 97) This ideology of an intertwined past and future of all the African people has however took many forms, as different thinkers feel that there are different methods in achieving African unity. Three great thinkers, W.E.B. Dubois, Marcus Garvey, and Malcolm X, were all leaders of their own Pan African movement which each contained their own element in achieving Pan Africanism. DuBois took a more academic stance which included the utilization of the elites, whereas Garvey and Malcolm X were more so grassroots organizers as they believed in the bottom up decision making rather than top down. To commence, Dr. William Edward Burghardt DuBois, better known as W.E.B. Dubois, is acknowledged as the Father of Pan Africanism. (Esedebe, 1971, p. 84) One of DuBois first movement towards Pan Africanism was his idea of the Talented Tenth. He felt that in order to save the Negro race it must be done by exceptional men. Most have their favorite teams in which they follow and some even tail gate at their games. Then you also have your die hard fans who get dressed up in the team colors and according to team name or mascot. In some cases like that of Red skin fans that sometimes include fans appropriating Native Americans by wearing red face paint, head dresses, and war paint. In recent years the Red Skins and other sports teams have received back lash from the Native American communities demanding that they change their name and mascot due its racial insensitivity and stereotyping of the Native American people. Some will debate that sport team names and mascots like that of the Red Skins, Cleveland Indians, Atlanta Braves or the Chicago Blackhawks are not offensive but in my personal opinion Pro sports teams should not be allowed to continue to appropriate race or culture. Most people don t put too much thought into what we have come to think as generic sport team names such as Braves, Warriors, Chiefs, and etc. Many do not think of the negative affect these names may have on Native American communities. It s a big concept in society today, but has it always been that way? Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte is a famous work on the basis of her own experiences. In this novel, the author shapes a tough and independent woman who pursues true love and equality. In the Victorian period, the image of Jane Eyre cast a sharp contrast to the man dominated society. She stands for a new lady who has the courage to fight for her own rights and love. The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison is also a popular work that discusses the hardships of black feminism. During Pecola s time in the story, she is faced with many obstacles that endanger her womanhood, and the point of her femininity is put into place. Pecola s hardships in her life are faced through her race, and this is a contrast to the white male dominated society. Let s begin with what feminism really is. Feminist theory, according to my first literary criticism, by Haiyan Gao, is to achieve gender equality in all of humanity. All feminist theory has a basic premise, which is, women worldwide are under an oppression, discrimination, and hierarchy state. In such a social structure prevalent among women in the political, economic, cultural, ideological, knowledge, ideas, ethics and other fields are in an unequal position with men, even in a private sphere of family, women are also in a position of inequality with men. On one side humans have completely changed waterfowls natural migrating path. With the modern expansion of cities, certain species have adapted and now use them as refuges, such as the Canada goose. Through climate change humans have disrupted waterfowls natural patterns of migration, and most species are un able to adapt quickly enough to the rapidly changing temperatures. The other side of humans relationship with waterfowl is that through our modern agriculture practices waterfowl don t necessarily need to migrate to get food, only to leave the cold. Most waterfowl species take advantage of the surplus grain left in agriculture fields, some of which have became overpopulated and harm other species of waterfowl. • 20. Inequality Between The Authoritarian Teacher And Students 2.22 Inequality of Intelligence The hierarchical power relationship between the authoritarian teacher and students inherently stands in opposition to the equality of intelligence. Probing further in the direction of intelligence, authority is constructed on the ground of a certain form of inequality between who is intelligent and who is not (Tocqueville et al., 2000). This premise of inequality in intelligence is enacted throughout the educational process in traditional teaching. According to Rancière (1991), the pedagogical myth divides intelligence into two, a superior intelligence and an inferior one (p.7). The superior intelligence knows things by reason, proceeds by method, from the simple to the complex, from the part to the whole , whereas the inferior intelligence registers perceptions by chance, retains them, interprets and repeats them empirically, within the closed circle of habit and need (ibid.). An authoritarian teacher may take this binary conception of intelligence for granted, maintaining that s/he has a superior intelligence while students have an inferior one. S/he is likely to present him/herself as the necessary opposite of the students. By considering the students as less intelligent beings with immature minds, s/he claims his or her own superior intelligence: s/he is the one being capable of opening the curtains that hide the true meaning of the knowledge. S/he attempts to convince his or her students that s/he has direct access to the knowledge. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, on March 15 of that year, President Lyndon Baines Johnson spoke to the members of Congress about the importance of Civil Rights not only to him, but to the principles of the Constitution and everything this country stands for. Johnson also briefly spoke of and explained the bill he planned to present in order to ensure that African Americans can exercise their Constitutional right to vote. The speech, called We Shall Overcome, was not only very effective with its use of ethos, logos, and pathos, but was also very effective in its overall purpose, an argument that no American citizen should be denied their rights due to the color of their skin. Lyndon Baines Johnson s use of ethos, or credibility, in his speech was very simple, but at the same time, very powerful. Johnson s credibility simply comes from the fact that, at the time of the speech, he was the President of The United States of America. The Problem Of Crime Rates Overview of the Problem I currently the Chief of Police in Savannah, Georgia and the problem that our city in currently facing is an increase in the crime rate in the city especially in the area of violent crimes. The city reported 32 homicides in 2014, which was two more than 2013, and the number of rapes increased from 49 to 64 . The City Manager and City Council has informed me that these numbers are unacceptable and in an effort to control, the rising crime rate I propose the following measures (McCammon, 2015). Constraints and Lack of Resources One of the largest constraints due to lack of resources we face in controlling crime in the Savannah Police Department is the shortage of police officers. On any given week between the five different precincts there can be a shortage of 50 to 60 officers overall. As a result, the officers spend most of their time responding to 911 calls and therefore do not have time to staff their beats or practice crime prevention. This also does not allow them any time to interact with the public, which is an important part of crime prevention, and it can leave a precinct un patrolled if they receive as few as three overlapping calls that require a back up as six officers can be all that is available during a short staff shift. After studying about the normative theories I realised that while making decisions about who should be removed, which show to perform in etc. the main thing that I think of is what is going to benefit more number of people the most. If I chose to remove a particular person, it brought them grief and guilt on my behalf in the short term but in the long term, the level of performance rose leaving the crew, judges and the audience happy. Also, sometimes we had to choose on which show to perform and which not to. • 29. Hitchhiker s Guide To The Galaxy Analysis A great example of sci fi parody is The Hitchhiker s Guide to the Galaxy. This movie is about a man named Arthur Dent, who is trying to make it by after the Earth was destroyed in order to make way for a construction project (The Hitchhiker s). This movie is extremely random and the plot does not have one straight line. It is very hard to follow and the goals of the heroes are constantly changing. The main thing this movie did was critique society. Even though the Earth was destroyed in the first twenty minutes of this movie, the traditions of the Earth were constantly ridiculed through the science fiction aspect. One example of this can be seen through the alien creatures named the Vogons. The Vogons are fat, leathered skinned beasts that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is saying how terrible and inefficient our bureaucratic system is. There was a lot of critiquing society in this movie and it was done in this pattern of separation and explanation. One of the main characters in this movie was the President of the galaxy named Zaphod (The Hitchhiker s). Zaphod has a lot of science fiction characteristics that separate him from our world. One of his characteristics is that he has two heads. The parody of him is that throughout the film was showing how clueless and vain he was. This parody of his cluelessness shows how politicians can be. The character of Zaphod was meant to comment on the fake two headed politicians of our society. Some debate to see the story as a good piece of art to something that teaches and also reveals some traits that people have. When we all think of hamlet I believe we think of a crazy time were a king was killed for a throne, and it just so happens to be the death of a king who had an insane family, but there is so much more to it then that. Hamlet is a bunch of things when I look at it. What I see is a time and place were the actions of people were expressed in a way that the world is not perfect. We see this royal family with deep family disfunction, distrust and mistrust within each other, and just straight up corruption. People need to understand that this play holds deadly truths and lies, but also a handful of passion, sadness, and the need of love. But sometimes love can come with piece. A powerful word to describe the Hamlet family is very dysfunctional. Family dysfunction rules out there hope of trusting one another and depending on the family to even be a family. In the book Hamlet as you read through the pages, you will begin to see that. This necessarily involves a chemical transformation, or reaction. In the simplest case, there is only one step. The starting materials are combined and a product forms. This product is isolated, purified, and characterized, producing the final outcome of the experiment. In a multistep synthesis, the product of the first step is used as a starting material in a second step, and so on, until a final product is obtained. Understanding of Relativity in Movie Interstellar I watched the movie Interstellar when I was in Grade 10. At that time I knew it was a wonderful film not only by the notable director Christopher Nolan but also by its impressive discussion of love and science stories. But I did pay more attention only to the love scenes at that time (Cooper his daughter, Brand Edmunds) because fully understanding the scientific theories about the universe in that movie is not an easy thing for a high school student. However, after studying some principles of relativity in PHYS180 class, I realized maybe I can use the knowledge to explain some confusing things which interested me when I watched the movie before. So my main goal in this assignment is to talk about the scientific facts, especially relativity theories, appearing in the movie. I hope I ve covered most of the points. ... From there, he became a dramatist, a poet, and a playwright for the rest of his short life. Marlowe was known for the interesting company that he kept.
