Antibiotics Vs Antibiotic Free Meat
I understand your confusion on whether or not to purchase antibiotic free meat because many people
are uneducated on genetically modified foods and their impact on our health. With that being said,
before you decide if antibiotic free meat is best for your family you have to understand what
antibiotics are, and the difference between meat that is treated with antibiotics versus antibiotic free
meat.
Antibiotics are commonly known as medicines that are used to prevent or kill bacteria and have been
used for decades to treat humans. In humans, antibiotics are seen as increasing the quality of health
care and extending the lifespan of people by essentially preventing death from infectious diseases.
Like you, many people are unaware that about 80% of the antibiotics sold in the United States are
actually used in agriculture (insert reference). More specifically, antibiotics are used in meat ... Show

outbreak in ground beef which caused several infections. The salmonella strain in both of these
instances is resistant to four types of bacteria which made it difficult to cure. MRSA, Methicillin

United States livestock workers were found to have carried MRSA, which is alarming because this
was not a infection that was believed to occur in livestock. (insert reference). Infectous outbreaks like

The Importance Of Spanking
Spanking is considered a form of corporal punishment, and depending on what one s view, belief or
stance on corporal punishment weighs heavily in determining their views and beliefs on how to
discipline kids. Corporal punishment is the striking of a child with an open hand, typically on the
buttocks with the sole intention of modifying behavior without causing physical injury. Spanking is
used to modify misconduct and misbehavior, and generally is done by using hands. When either one is
executed in an excessive manner and uses harmful items and becomes excessive is then quite frankly
seen, viewed and deemed as child abuse.
While some think or believe that spanking is a destructive form of discipline and is ineffective. Others
believe that spanking children is necessary especially when dealing with an unruly child. Spanking is
not a practice that is accepted everywhere in the world and is prohibited by law in some places. In
some countries such as Germany, France, and Spain spanking is illegal and considered a crime while
in the U.S. as of recent there appears to be a trend of punishment for physically harming children. In
fact, parents can be prosecuted, jailed and have their children taken away as a result since it is deemed
as child abuse. Even though spanking a child is illegal and prohibited by law in some places, it is still
yet a method used and a common practice of discipline and the law often turns a blind eye to it, if it is
done within reason.

Abstract
Social media is an inherent part of current Internet and used by more than a billion individuals
worldwide. They provide opportunities to share ideas and interact with others, from old friends to
strangers. In spite of the fact that social media has changed individuals lives with unnumbered
benefits, many disadvantages, to users, are hidden under the superficial advantages, including
decreasing health levels, declining communication skills, breaking interpersonal relationships and
violating personal privacy. In order to prevent negative effects from social media, curtailing time on it
is a beneficial method for individuals. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the article Weight problems take a hefty toll on body and mind (n. d.), the author states that obesity
is harmful to almost any part of health, from reproductive and respiratory function to brains. It raises
the risks of several debilitating, and lethal diseases, including diabetes, heart disease, and some
cancers. From these points, it is not laborious to recognize that social media is decreasing net citizens
health levels indirectly. Social media also leads to mental problems, especially to teenagers. Teenagers
who engage with social media during the night could be damaging their sleep and increasing their risk
of anxiety and depressive illness. Teenagers talked about the pressure they felt to make themselves
available, and the resulting anxiety if they did not respond immediately to texts or posts(Udorie, J).
Not only does social media cut down health levels, but it also weakens communication skills. Ali
(2015), who deems that social media provides a toilless method to communicate , points out that
social media have reduced a large number of communication and interaction barriers, and now one can
convey his/her feelings and opinions over various themes. However, her opinion is not
comprehensive. She has ignored the fact that individuals

Water Supply As A Critical Infrastructure
One of the basic elements required to sustain life is water. Water is of extreme importance as the body
cannot go without water for more than a few days. Therefore, the supply of water is a paramount
concern amongst society. The availability of water is not the only concern. Another factor is the purity
of the water supply. Imagine the catastrophic sequence of events if the water supply for a region were
to be contaminated with Ebola or any plethora of deadly viruses. Following such a tragedy to
conclusion would leave thousands or possibly millions dead depending upon the detection and
response procedures. It is no surprise that water supply is considered a critical infrastructure. This
paper will discuss these topics in depth to cover what measures are currently in place to detect water
anomalies and response methods to any such contamination, accidental or intentional. Furthermore,
we will look at how water is scrutinized in many different areas from chlorine levels to salt levels. The
level of scrutiny in water will likely shock anyone, yet fear will set in at the reality of how vulnerable
this water supply system is to attack.
In society we take many things for granted, especially those that would be deemed a basic necessity
such as water. Nevertheless, we give no thought to the consequence of disruption in availability until it
happens. Natural catastrophes have recently reminded us of how vital these necessities are that we
take for granted.

The Risks Of Long Distance Human Spaceflight
Upon the consideration of long distance human spaceflight, the risk management plan in
correspondence must prepare the crew members before and during the mission, for risks which may or
may not occur, in the isolated confines of space. Specifically, the risks of meteoroid impacts,
malnutrition, and contamination were observed and their effects on the psychological and physical
health of the crew members was detailed. Only meteoroid impacts are singularly and in transit risk,
while both malnutrition and contamination are constant risks due to the human factor. Out the three
risks listed, the most harmful risk would be of malnutrition due to the extensive consequences which

2013).
Meteoroid impacts, although a common obstacle in science fiction movies, do not rank very highly on
a problem for a crew on spacecraft due to the very high dispersity of streams of meteoroids, their very
small size, and the very small size of a spacecraft in comparison to the vastness of space. Even the ISS
has a 1 in a 10 billion chance to hit by predictable meteoroid streams while in a very small orbit
(David, L. 2014). However, due to the large distance any communication signals would have to
traverse, in an emergency situation the astronauts would need to be able to act according to protocol.
To prepare for even this unlikely situation, crew members should undergo pre flight and routine in
flight simulations which involve safety measures of a breached hull, compromised oxygen supply,
damaged thrusters, or other mechanical failures (Phillips, T. 2002). Although considering that this risk
only pertains to the in transit portion of the mission and a meteoroid that penetrates the shell of the
spacecraft in living quarters would most likely result in the immediate lack of oxygen due to the
immense vacuum in space which would limit any opportunty to mediate the situation.
Nutrition, although taken care of since the introduction of multiple day missions, is the most important
risk factor to consider as it directly relates the health and ability of the crew member to perform their
duties. The lack of proper nutrients and vitamins can lead to increased bone

For those that have yet to encounter the listening experience of vinyl I encourage you to do so now.
These videos do not fully project the real life experience vinyl provides to the listener but it does meet
some of the criteria. The first video is Mozart on vinyl. There s something intriguing and also
appealing to hear the popping and cracking from the commencement of the record. This video
demonstrates just that. This experience is not common on all vinyl records but it s definitely one of my
favorites. The second video is Beethoven s Moonlight Sonata. As a vinyl enthusiast I enjoy seeing the
record spin around and around as if the music is coming off the record. Lastly, the third video is Frank

Process Essay On Dog Groomers
Dog owners have to put in a lot of effort to keep their dog healthy, happy and looking good. In
addition to feeding and bathing your pet, you will have to trim their nails. You may be tempted to trim
your dog s nails yourself to save yourself a couple bucks, but when looking at the many ways you and
your dog can benefit from you allowing a pet groomer to tackle this task, you may actually change
your mind.
Safer for your dog: Your dog has a blood supply, also known as the quick, in his or her nails that you
will have to steer clear of when trimming the nails. Since most pet owners aren t exactly sure how to
avoid this blood supply, they end up cutting it, which can be quite painful for your dog. A groomer

size when you do it yourself or hitting the blood supply. Dog groomers will always have the proper

to get your dog s nails trimmed down to the perfect size.
Less stress for you: By now, you may have realized nail trimming is a difficult task to complete. On
top of you possibly not knowing how to properly trim your dog s nails, your dog will likely not make
this task easy. An antsy or hyper dog who won t still for a nail trim can stress you out, and this isn t
something that a lot of pet owners want to deal with, which is why they look to professionals for help.
Less stress for your dog: It is fairly easy for dogs to become stressed or feel uncomfortable. Nail
trimming is not something dogs are really interested in letting their owners do, so getting them to relax
can be more time consuming than actually trimming their nails. Pet groomers understand how dogs
think and how to calm them down when they are excited, scared or anxious, which is helpful when

Improving HTTP Performance Using Stateless TCP
Improving HTTP Performance Using Stateless TCP In this paper a server side approach is made
which can reduce processing load per connection. The advantages of running web servers over a basic
transport protocol that is similar to TCP are studied here. The stateless TCP for HTTP decreases the
kernel resources required per TCP connection. So it increases the number of client initiated HTTP
connections per second. Stateless TCP modifications decreases the server s CPU usage and other TCP
memory requirements. This helps to serve small webpages under overloaded situations. Two
Algorithms (David A Hayes, Improving http performance using stateless tcp, 2011) are mentioned that
show the basic operation of stateless TCP, one for incoming packets and one for outgoing packets
from server. These include few rules to react to incoming control packets and also information to deal
with application data. Algorithm 1: incoming Every TCP packet is captured which arrives at port 80

S. Marcenscens Research Paper
I was given unknown 18, after the gram stains and biological tests I concluded that unknown 18 is
Serratia marcescens. S. marcenscens is a rod shaped, motile, gram negative bacteria, it was first
isolated in 1819 by Italian pharmacist, Bizio. The S. marcenscens first isolated came from polenta that
was taking on an unusual bright red color. Initially S. marcenscens was believed to be nonpathogenic
and was commonly used as a biological marker because of its unique red color (Merlino, 1924). It was
not until the 1950 s that S. marcenscens was discovered to be pathogenic in humans (Wheat et al,
1951). S. marcenscens is an adaptable bacteria found in many different environments including water,
soil, gastrointestinal tracts of many animals, but grow particularly well on starchy food sources
(Petersen and Tisa, 2013). S. marcenscens when first isolated it was believed to be non pathogenic, but
S. marcenscens is responsible for nosocomial human infections, plant infections, insect and nematode

Psychology viewed as an old discipline. Psychology can trace its roots to the 5 century BC to the
Greek philosophers such as Plato, Aristotle and Socrates, because we grapple with the same questions

The Eternal City And Her Empire
Michael Miller
Extended Essay
(Lack of title page)
Word count: 2594
Introduction
The Eternal City and her empire, spanning at its peak from chilly Britain to sweltering Egypt, did not
spring from glory (Nelson). Her legions were not born, trained, and blooded as professionals, or as the
legends that they came to be; nor were her architects and engineers blessed by providence with the
talent that has kept Rome standing for more than two thousand years. It indeed rings true when said or
heard that Rome was not carved out from her seven hills; not built; not fought for nor killed for in a
day. Her legacy was painstakingly written with the lives of millions, and the many victories of her
army were learned and prepared for through just as many losses.
It was not intrinsic ability that conquered all of the Mediterranean coast and lands beyond, but
cunning, the ability to adapt when beaten, to recognize superior tactics and to outwit them, to learn
from other cultures and militaries, and most importantly, to get back up off the ground when
conquered and hit back harder than ever before. The empire created by the sword, lived by the sword,
and died by the sword, wielded by one of the most dynamic and influential militaries in the history of
the world.
The research question of this extended essay is, To what extent did the Roman military adapt and
change as a product of warfare and contact with other cultures, from the tribal days of Rome to the
end of the Republic? Though her

Reflection On My Social Life In A Social Class
In the past two lectures, we discussed people and their social standings. The discussion made me
reflect on my current living situation and consider to what social class I belong. I am a college student,
obviously, but am fortunate enough to live rent free in a beautiful home where I have the entire
upstairs to myself. I am in a stable relationship with my girlfriend of over two years, I drive a nice car
that is paid for, and I have a solid job that I have had since the age of 16. I feel, by definition, this
places me firmly in the middle class. I live with my mother and two sisters. My father lives in another
state. While he does help by sending child support, my portion dropped off when I turned 18. This has
made our entire family more financially aware of everything and we have had to adjust our lifestyle in
many areas. Being in college, I am not able to work as many hours as I would like which would give
me more money in my pocket. My mother has gone back to school to further her education so she can
get a better job and more money for our household as well. Taking this into consideration, I may
actually be closer to the low end of middle class and one bad decision away from being kicked out of
my house and into instant poverty status. Just kidding, my mom would never kick me out! Although
class isn t everything, it is, unfortunately, a perception based solely on appearance that separates

Detection or Identification of Trace Amounts of Explosives
The detection and/or identification of trace amounts of explosives.
The review of each method should include a description of the way the method works and the
advantages and drawbacks of the technique.
Introduction
An explosive, are reactive substances that contain a large amount of potential energy that can yield an
explosion if they are released rapidly, they are accompanied by the production of light, heat, sound,
and pressure. Mainly used in the mining industry for extraction of minerals and resources, explosives
have been used as a weapon of destruction. Explosives often contain oxidising substances such as
nitrates chlorates, and a binding agent such as ammonium and potassium, which can be detected and
analysed to prevent such substances from being used as a weapon.
Explosives detection is critically important in many field settings (e.g., military facilities, minefields,
crime scenes, and remediation sites) and has become a necessity for the safety of the general public
(e.g., at airports and mass transit areas), there remains a demand for inexpensive and reliable explosive
instruments for identifying specific explosives. High explosives are considered to be organic and
oxidizing, a relatively uncommon mixture that makes them tractable for molecular recognition.
On 22 December 2001 Richard Colvin Reid also known as the Shoe Bomber attempted to detonate
explosives packed into the shoes he was wearing, while on American Airlines Flight 63 from Paris to
Miami.

Rain Man By Barry Levinson
Rain Man (Johnson, M. Miller, R. 1988) is a motion picture featuring the selfish main character,
Charlie Babbitt, and his struggles while trying to look after his brother in order to receive half of his
father s inheritance. We follow Charlie and his brother, Raymond Babbitt, who has autism, through
their first meeting until Raymond is taken to a mental institution. Rain Man is an original screenplay
written by Barry Morrow and directed by Barry Levinson (Rain Man 2016). Our first understanding of
Raymond is when Charlie discovers that his father, whom he is no longer in contact with, has passed
away. After finding out that his estranged father has left $3 million to his brother whom he never knew
existed, Charlie decides to take in his brother as an attempt to receive his half of his father s estate. We
first meet Raymond in his mental institution, where we find out that both brothers were unaware of
each others existence. It becomes clear that Raymond has no grasp of reality whatsoever and therefore
cannot be employed. Within his rigid schedule, Raymond is able to understand the times of the day
typical needs are performed, such as eating and sleeping, but he cannot perform these actions alone.
We are never shown that he is capable of cooking or sustaining his own needs for himself, and the
only time we see Raymond use a toaster, he sets off the fire alarm. He seems most comfortable around
those he s known for longer. At the beginning of the movie, his biggest

This is where it is growing the most. By investing in these countries, HSBC can offset problems it
may have as spending in the US and UK declines.
Threats
*Downturn in American spending.
As interest rates rise and the housing boom ends, Americans are predicted to rely less on consumer
credit and more on their saving skills to get by. The drop in American spending will be bad for the
global economy as a whole, and HSBC will certainly be affected. In
2005, HSBC pretax profits rose 5% to $10.64bn ( 6bn) for the first six months of the year, largely on
the rise in consumer finance for growing consumer spending.
*Employees striking.
Last year, British employees held a strike involving 1,500 workers at
HSBC branches in London. At its annual meeting, striking workers stood outside, handing out bags of
nuts and saying that they are paid
peanuts while HSBC experiences record profits. Strikes such as this, especially in union conscious
Europe, are bad for image reasons and HSBC needs to take action to ensure that its workers are happy
just as its customers are.
*Email viruses.
Last year, HSBC Group s CEO announced that HSBC received tens of thousands of email viruses a
day and must spend great amounts of money to prevent these from causing systemwide damage. As

Ellen Foster, Lord Of The Flies, And To Kill A Mockingbird
This world is full of inspiring, thoughtful, and hardworking people. Its full of crises and hard life
decisions people make everyday. The books Ellen Foster, Lord of the Flies, and To Kill a Mockingbird
all capture these qualities of humankind. They are full of savagery, plane crashes, racial issues, child
abuse, and perseverance. All three novels connect by how tenacious people are when they are required
to overcome adversity.
In Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, there is a plane crash which abandoned a large amount of
boys with no parental guidance on an island stranded. The boys struggled to survive through the whole
book. The boys are desperate to eat something other than fruit, so they try and try to kill a pig, but
have a of trouble with it. These boys though did not give up. They surrounded the covert but the sow
got away with the sting of another spear in her flank. The trailing butts hindered her and the sharp,
cross cut points were a torment. She blundered into a tree, forcing a spear still deeper; and after that
any of the hunters could follow her easily by the drops of vivid blood .(Golding 196?) This quote
shows how determined the boys were to get meat. This scene was known as the rape scene because the
boys wanted to kill a pig so bad for the meat and the power. This book displayed the ability that boys
could survive on their own even though there might have been some major conflicts they had to face.

Kurt Lewin ( 1947 ) Divides The Change Process Essay
Answer 1.
Kurt Lewin (1947) divides the change process into 3 steps. Unfreezing, Changing and Freezing. It is a
very simple and practical model for understanding the change process. It is widely used and is a basis
for many change models. He widely stages them as follows:
a) Creating the perception that change is needed.
b) Moving towards the new desired level of behavior.
c) Solidifying the new behavior as the norm.
UNFREEZING
Unfreezing raises an initial awareness of the need for change. It is the first step in the change process.
As many people will resist change the goal during unfreezing is to create awareness as to how the
current level is hindering the organization in some way. Old behavior, ways of thinking, procedures
and process followed, Human resource, Organisation structure must be carefully examined to clarify
the people in the organization the need for change to maintain competitive advantage. The Proprietor
needs to convince his people the logic behind change and how it will be beneficial at Individual and
Organisational level. Besides Lewin states that people should be motivated to accept change
As an owner of Pink Donkey catering Ltd who wants to open his own restaurant and bring major

Medicine in Ancient Egypt
The world of medicine in Ancient Egypt is a cloud of mystery and very little is known other than what
has been salvaged from surviving papyri. What the papyri can tell one who examines them is that the
Egyptians had some knowledge of the anatomy and had constructed their own approaches to medical
issues. Compared to other civilizations such as the Babylonians and the Greeks, who used more
rational and logical approaches, Egyptian medicine might seem less sophisticated. In earlier clinical
writings there has been less magic mentioned than in later times, which could be due to the endurance
of the Old Kingdom boosting their confidence in the power of mankind and their king. So knowing
that the Egyptians relied very much on magic and the supernatural to provide them knowledge of the
ailments of the body, some of it was also the root of reason and plain common sense. With the passage
of time, new archaeological discoveries, increased knowledge of Egyptian language and writing, and
the appearance of more sophisticated medical techniques, new life was given to the study of disease
and health in the ancient Nile Valley. It was this period that saw the academic study of Egyptian
disease divided into three categories:
Most of what the world knows today about medicine in Ancient Egypt comes from the papyri that
have survived all these years; second is the study of the artistic representation of disease in the Nile
Valley; third, and perhaps most obvious, is the study of human

The Atomic Bombing Of Hiroshima
An Unnecessary Action The atomic bombing of Japan was an unjustified decision that many
considered was inhumane. Through the use of atomic bombs, many innocents were harmed in one
way or another. Berger described the atomic bombing of Hiroshima as a terrorist act and that it was
evil . While Berger s argument was extreme, the U.S. still remains unjustified because they did not
know exactly how much damage the bomb would actually cause. Bombing Japan, the U.S. harmed
thousands of civilians and displayed the effectiveness of the atomic bomb despite having other options
to end the war. By bombing Japan, many civilians were killed as a result of the U.S. s desire to use a
new weapon. Laurence describes the bomb as, a thing of beauty to behold and Never before had so
much brain power been focused on a single problem (11). This demonstrated how the U.S. saw Japan
as a problem that needed to be dealt with quickly and that the new and supposedly destructive weapon
was the best choice. While the targets, Hiroshima and Nagasaki, were both production areas ,they
were inhabited by a number of civilians. By choosing to drop the bomb, thousands were annihilated
and any survivors began to suffer from radiation sickness shortly after. Because of its destruction, the
U.S. believed the atomic bomb was a quick solution to the war. Although the atomic bomb was a new
and quick solution to the war, the U.S. could have chosen other options to finish it. As a result of

Houston Elementary is a predominately white school. 413 white students are enrolled in Houston

Antibiotics Vs AntibioticFree Meat I understand your confusion on whether or not to purchase antibiotic free meat because many people are uneducated on genetically modified foods and their impact on our health. With that being said, before you decide if antibiotic free meat is best for your family you have to understand what antibiotics are, and the difference between meat that is treated with antibiotics versus antibiotic free meat. Antibiotics are commonly known as medicines that are used to prevent or kill bacteria and have been used for decades to treat humans. In humans, antibiotics are seen as increasing the quality of health care and extending the lifespan of people by essentially preventing death from infectious diseases. Like you, many people are unaware that about 80% of the antibiotics sold in the United States are actually used in agriculture (insert reference). More specifically, antibiotics are used in meat ... The Importance OfSpanking Spanking is considered a form of corporal punishment, and depending on what one s view, belief or stance on corporal punishment weighs heavily in determining their views and beliefs on how to discipline kids. Corporal punishment is the striking of a child with an open hand, typically on the buttocks with the sole intention of modifying behavior without causing physical injury. Spanking is used to modify misconduct and misbehavior, and generally is done by using hands. When either one is executed in an excessive manner and uses harmful items and becomes excessive is then quite frankly seen, viewed and deemed as child abuse. While some think or believe that spanking is a destructive form of discipline and is ineffective. Others believe that spanking children is necessary especially when dealing with an unruly child. Spanking is not a practice that is accepted everywhere in the world and is prohibited by law in some places. In some countries such as Germany, France, and Spain spanking is illegal and considered a crime while in the U.S. as of recent there appears to be a trend of punishment for physically harming children. In fact, parents can be prosecuted, jailed and have their children taken away as a result since it is deemed as child abuse. Even though spanking a child is illegal and prohibited by law in some places, it is still yet a method used and a common practice of discipline and the law often turns a blind eye to it, if it is done within reason. Water Supply AsA Critical Infrastructure One of the basic elements required to sustain life is water. Water is of extreme importance as the body cannot go without water for more than a few days. Therefore, the supply of water is a paramount concern amongst society. The availability of water is not the only concern. Another factor is the purity of the water supply. Imagine the catastrophic sequence of events if the water supply for a region were to be contaminated with Ebola or any plethora of deadly viruses. Following such a tragedy to conclusion would leave thousands or possibly millions dead depending upon the detection and response procedures. It is no surprise that water supply is considered a critical infrastructure. This paper will discuss these topics in depth to cover what measures are currently in place to detect water anomalies and response methods to any such contamination, accidental or intentional. Furthermore, we will look at how water is scrutinized in many different areas from chlorine levels to salt levels. The level of scrutiny in water will likely shock anyone, yet fear will set in at the reality of how vulnerable this water supply system is to attack. In society we take many things for granted, especially those that would be deemed a basic necessity such as water. Nevertheless, we give no thought to the consequence of disruption in availability until it happens. Natural catastrophes have recently reminded us of how vital these necessities are that we take for granted. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Risks OfLong Distance Human Spaceflight Upon the consideration of long distance human spaceflight, the risk management plan in correspondence must prepare the crew members before and during the mission, for risks which may or may not occur, in the isolated confines of space. Specifically, the risks of meteoroid impacts, malnutrition, and contamination were observed and their effects on the psychological and physical health of the crew members was detailed. Meteoroid impacts, although a common obstacle in science fiction movies, do not rank very highly on a problem for a crew on spacecraft due to the very high dispersity of streams of meteoroids, their very small size, and the very small size of a spacecraft in comparison to the vastness of space. Even the ISS has a 1 in a 10 billion chance to hit by predictable meteoroid streams while in a very small orbit (David, L. 2014). However, due to the large distance any communication signals would have to traverse, in an emergency situation the astronauts would need to be able to act according to protocol. To prepare for even this unlikely situation, crew members should undergo pre flight and routine in flight simulations which involve safety measures of a breached hull, compromised oxygen supply, damaged thrusters, or other mechanical failures (Phillips, T. 2002). Although considering that this risk only pertains to the in transit portion of the mission and a meteoroid that penetrates the shell of the spacecraft in living quarters would most likely result in the immediate lack of oxygen due to the immense vacuum in space which would limit any opportunty to mediate the situation. Nutrition, although taken care of since the introduction of multiple day missions, is the most important risk factor to consider as it directly relates the health and ability of the crew member to perform their duties. These videos do not fully project the real life experience vinyl provides to the listener but it does meet some of the criteria. The first video is Mozart on vinyl. There s something intriguing and also appealing to hear the popping and cracking from the commencement of the record. This video demonstrates just that. This experience is not common on all vinyl records but it s definitely one of my favorites. The second video is Beethoven s Moonlight Sonata. Improving HTTP PerformanceUsing Stateless TCP Improving HTTP Performance Using Stateless TCP In this paper a server side approach is made which can reduce processing load per connection. The advantages of running web servers over a basic transport protocol that is similar to TCP are studied here. The stateless TCP for HTTP decreases the kernel resources required per TCP connection. So it increases the number of client initiated HTTP connections per second. Stateless TCP modifications decreases the server s CPU usage and other TCP memory requirements. This helps to serve small webpages under overloaded situations. Two Algorithms (David A Hayes, Improving http performance using stateless tcp, 2011) are mentioned that show the basic operation of stateless TCP, one for incoming packets and one for outgoing packets from server. These include few rules to react to incoming control packets and also information to deal with application data. S. Marcenscens ResearchPaper I was given unknown 18, after the gram stains and biological tests I concluded that unknown 18 is Serratia marcescens. S. marcenscens is a rod shaped, motile, gram negative bacteria, it was first isolated in 1819 by Italian pharmacist, Bizio. The S. marcenscens first isolated came from polenta that was taking on an unusual bright red color. Initially S. marcenscens was believed to be nonpathogenic and was commonly used as a biological marker because of its unique red color (Merlino, 1924). It was not until the 1950 s that S. marcenscens was discovered to be pathogenic in humans (Wheat et al, 1951). S. marcenscens is an adaptable bacteria found in many different environments including water, soil, gastrointestinal tracts of many animals, but grow particularly well on starchy food sources (Petersen and Tisa, 2013). The Eternal CityAnd Her Empire Michael Miller Extended Essay (Lack of title page) Word count: 2594 Introduction The Eternal City and her empire, spanning at its peak from chilly Britain to sweltering Egypt, did not spring from glory (Nelson). Her legions were not born, trained, and blooded as professionals, or as the legends that they came to be; nor were her architects and engineers blessed by providence with the talent that has kept Rome standing for more than two thousand years. It indeed rings true when said or heard that Rome was not carved out from her seven hills; not built; not fought for nor killed for in a day. Her legacy was painstakingly written with the lives of millions, and the many victories of her army were learned and prepared for through just as many losses. It was not intrinsic ability that conquered all of the Mediterranean coast and lands beyond, but cunning, the ability to adapt when beaten, to recognize superior tactics and to outwit them, to learn from other cultures and militaries, and most importantly, to get back up off the ground when conquered and hit back harder than ever before. The empire created by the sword, lived by the sword, and died by the sword, wielded by one of the most dynamic and influential militaries in the history of the world. Reflection On MySocial Life In A Social Class In the past two lectures, we discussed people and their social standings. I feel, by definition, this places me firmly in the middle class. I live with my mother and two sisters. My father lives in another state. This has made our entire family more financially aware of everything and we have had to adjust our lifestyle in many areas. Detection or Identificationof Trace Amounts of Explosives The detection and/or identification of trace amounts of explosives. The review of each method should include a description of the way the method works and the advantages and drawbacks of the technique. Introduction An explosive, are reactive substances that contain a large amount of potential energy that can yield an explosion if they are released rapidly, they are accompanied by the production of light, heat, sound, and pressure. Mainly used in the mining industry for extraction of minerals and resources, explosives have been used as a weapon of destruction. Explosives often contain oxidising substances such as nitrates chlorates, and a binding agent such as ammonium and potassium, which can be detected and analysed to prevent such substances from being used as a weapon. Explosives detection is critically important in many field settings (e.g., military facilities, minefields, crime scenes, and remediation sites) and has become a necessity for the safety of the general public (e.g., at airports and mass transit areas), there remains a demand for inexpensive and reliable explosive instruments for identifying specific explosives. High explosives are considered to be organic and oxidizing, a relatively uncommon mixture that makes them tractable for molecular recognition. On 22 December 2001 Richard Colvin Reid also known as the Shoe Bomber attempted to detonate explosives packed into the shoes he was wearing, while on American Airlines Flight 63 from Paris to Miami. ... We first meet Raymond in his mental institution, where we find out that both brothers were unaware of each others existence. Within his rigid schedule, Raymond is able to understand the times of the day typical needs are performed, such as eating and sleeping, but he cannot perform these actions alone. Ellen Foster, LordOf The Flies, And To Kill A Mockingbird This world is full of inspiring, thoughtful, and hardworking people. Its full of crises and hard life decisions people make everyday. The books Ellen Foster, Lord of the Flies, and To Kill a Mockingbird all capture these qualities of humankind. They are full of savagery, plane crashes, racial issues, child abuse, and perseverance. All three novels connect by how tenacious people are when they are required to overcome adversity. In Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, there is a plane crash which abandoned a large amount of boys with no parental guidance on an island stranded. The boys struggled to survive through the whole book. The boys are desperate to eat something other than fruit, so they try and try to kill a pig, but have a of trouble with it. These boys though did not give up. They surrounded the covert but the sow got away with the sting of another spear in her flank. The trailing butts hindered her and the sharp, cross cut points were a torment. She blundered into a tree, forcing a spear still deeper; and after that any of the hunters could follow her easily by the drops of vivid blood .(Golding 196?) This quote shows how determined the boys were to get meat. This scene was known as the rape scene because the boys wanted to kill a pig so bad for the meat and the power. This book displayed the ability that boys could survive on their own even though there might have been some major conflicts they had to face. In Ellen Foster by Kaye Gibbons, Ellen Foster, ... Kurt Lewin (1947 ) Divides The Change Process Essay Answer 1. Kurt Lewin (1947) divides the change process into 3 steps. Unfreezing, Changing and Freezing. It is a very simple and practical model for understanding the change process. It is widely used and is a basis for many change models. He widely stages them as follows: a) Creating the perception that change is needed. b) Moving towards the new desired level of behavior. c) Solidifying the new behavior as the norm. UNFREEZING Unfreezing raises an initial awareness of the need for change. It is the first step in the change process. As many people will resist change the goal during unfreezing is to create awareness as to how the current level is hindering the organization in some way. Old behavior, ways of thinking, procedures and process followed, Human resource, Organisation structure must be carefully examined to clarify the people in the organization the need for change to maintain competitive advantage. The Proprietor needs to convince his people the logic behind change and how it will be beneficial at Individual and Organisational level. Besides Lewin states that people should be motivated to accept change As an owner of Pink Donkey catering Ltd who wants to open his own restaurant and bring major change in the way business is done, I would emphase on Unfreezing as a first step in change management process. I would convince them the urgency and necessity for change, as catering business we were able to reach limited customers but now the demand has increased, my aim is ... Medicine in AncientEgypt The world of medicine in Ancient Egypt is a cloud of mystery and very little is known other than what has been salvaged from surviving papyri. What the papyri can tell one who examines them is that the Egyptians had some knowledge of the anatomy and had constructed their own approaches to medical issues. Compared to other civilizations such as the Babylonians and the Greeks, who used more rational and logical approaches, Egyptian medicine might seem less sophisticated. In earlier clinical writings there has been less magic mentioned than in later times, which could be due to the endurance of the Old Kingdom boosting their confidence in the power of mankind and their king. So knowing that the Egyptians relied very much on magic and the supernatural to provide them knowledge of the ailments of the body, some of it was also the root of reason and plain common sense. With the passage of time, new archaeological discoveries, increased knowledge of Egyptian language and writing, and the appearance of more sophisticated medical techniques, new life was given to the study of disease and health in the ancient Nile Valley. It was this period that saw the academic study of Egyptian disease divided into three categories: Most of what the world knows today about medicine in Ancient Egypt comes from the papyri that have survived all these years; second is the study of the artistic representation of disease in the Nile Valley; third, and perhaps most obvious, is the study of human ... The Atomic BombingOf Hiroshima An Unnecessary Action The atomic bombing of Japan was an unjustified decision that many considered was inhumane. Through the use of atomic bombs, many innocents were harmed in one way or another. Berger described the atomic bombing of Hiroshima as a terrorist act and that it was evil . While Berger s argument was extreme, the U.S. still remains unjustified because they did not know exactly how much damage the bomb would actually cause. Bombing Japan, the U.S. harmed thousands of civilians and displayed the effectiveness of the atomic bomb despite having other options to end the war. By bombing Japan, many civilians were killed as a result of the U.S. s desire to use a new weapon. Laurence describes the bomb as, a thing of beauty to behold and Never before had so much brain power been focused on a single problem (11). This demonstrated how the U.S. saw Japan as a problem that needed to be dealt with quickly and that the new and supposedly destructive weapon was the best choice. While the targets, Hiroshima and Nagasaki, were both production areas ,they were inhabited by a number of civilians. By choosing to drop the bomb, thousands were annihilated and any survivors began to suffer from radiation sickness shortly after. Because of its destruction, the U.S. believed the atomic bomb was a quick solution to the war. Although the atomic bomb was a new and quick solution to the war, the U.S. could have chosen other options to finish it. As a result of bombings ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
