Euthanasia And The Closely Related Procedure
Euthanasia and the closely related procedure, assisted suicide, are some of the most highly debated
topics in ethics. Although the procedures are different in name, their definitions are quite similar.
Euthanasia can be defined in two ways: passive or active. Passive euthanasia is defined as allowing
the patient s illness to kill them; refusing medical treatment. Active euthanasia, however, is defined as
killing through lethal injection, which also happens to be known as assisted suicide. From the
perspective of the deeply religious to those who just value the life of both themselves and others,
euthanasia and assisted suicide are fancy terms for murder. From my perspective, euthanasia and
assisted suicide are procedures that should only be allowed for those who are suffering from incurable
and physically painful illnesses that incapacitate them to the point where they cannot properly
function in society. What constitutes proper function in society will be discussed later on, but it plays a
pivotal role in the decision that one makes to die or not. Now some may disagree and say that no
matter the circumstance, one does not have the right to end their own life; this too will be discussed in
further detail. This essay will focus on the aspects mentioned above and will provide the necessary
answer to this debate between life and death.
As stated by Nowell Smith, but if we grant, as no doubt we all do, that everyone has a right to life, if
follows as once that we have a right

Briefing Analysis
On January 1,1998, the six constituent municipalities amalgamated in individual municipality. Toronto
is a major economic and financial center of Canada. Although amalgamated six municipalities and one
borough led to a boarder land, it brought a series of problems ranging from financial to community
service (Keil Boudreau, 2005, p9). This briefing note will seek to address the amalgamation cannot
result in saving cost and improving service efficiency for city of Toronto. It will suggest policy options
that the municipality can collect property from the property. This briefing note will also propose that a
wide range of tax systems should be established. This briefing note will also provide its

Layoffs brought much saving, but new positions post was added later, which added more jobs,
meaning more government spending. Debt of Toronto has been rising, and the interest payments on
debt have placed a huge burden on the operating of the city. Unifying wages, which means paying the
same salary to employees of six local municipalities for the same work, increased salary costs. As for
financing issues, in 2003, Toronto did not gain any fund neither from the federal government, nor gain
the fund from the provincial government, that is even fewer than 38 big cities in united
states(Schwartz,2009,p.487).The ability to raise revenue of Toronto is governed by Ontario s
municipal law, and provincial and federal municipalities are reluctant to provide additional financial
assistance. However, most of the 38 big cities in the united states have the legal right to use sales taxes
and income taxes of city hall, and are greatly assisted by the state and federal governments
(Schwartz,2009, p.487). Capital expenditures in Toronto mainly include the construction of public
facilities, environmental maintenance and the service capital assets required for enterprises and
individuals. More importantly, a largely number of infrastructures should be provided and maintained
for more people in this new city. In 2004, the government received more funding from the provincial
government in order to meet its infrastructure needs, which, however, causes a substantial increase in

Why Protest Is Important
Protesting is a way of speaking up and letting your voice be heard, it s also a way of showing
disapproval or objection to something. There are many type of protest like speeches, marches, boycott,
songs, and much more ways to get united and protest. Protesting is important because things that
might be fair to one half is not fair to the other half and gathering together to speak up, sometimes
most famous protest include famous individuals like songwriters, poets, speeches, and/or boycott. The
question is, why is protesting important?, well imagine that one day we wake up having a president
that want to unfairly take half of your check to pay the taxes he haven t paid for years, very upsetting
right?, that s where protesters come in, commonly

Daily Show Satire
Have you ever heard about the daily show? Jon Stewarts the daily show good or bad for American
democracy? I think is good because the news that we have now is boring and more people would
watch it now then the regular news. I think people will get more entertained and not bored. Making
people watch it and liking it.
Sometimes you have to get up and watch the news. Its not very entertaining to you so you just get up
and do something else. The news we have now tells us how the day is going to be or how nice it is.
The news will be actually fun and really nice if they were to use comedy like Jon Stewart. Jon tells us

Comedy entertains a lot of people now and days because they want to have a laugh for the day. People
want be able to tell others who Jon Stewart is and explain what he does, king of like Kevin heart. I
understand how people want to be bored and watch regular old news but other want to watch the news
where it can be funny and not entertaining. My point of view of Jon is like why don t people know of
him and why is he not out. If I was interested on watching him I would watch the news every morning
before school to go to school with a laugh.
The whole reason Jon does this is because he wants to have people talk and say positive thing about
him and for people to like his comedy. Comedy for him is probably entertaining and he likes to have
fun will doing things. To me comedy is very funny and I like having a laugh here and there to you

Romeo And Juliet Forbidden Love Quotes
In Shakespeare s Romeo Juliet , the 13 year old protagonist is faced with the tempting idea of
forbidden love. The true factor, which inevitably leads to Juliet s demise, was her lack of experience in
love, life, and marriage. Juliet s lack in experience was what brought her to meet her end. But
problems always originate from how one was raised, brought up, and grown into the world by
surrounding adults. In Juliet s case, her constant supervision was the nurse s responsibility. In a way,
the nurse fed Juliet s addiction to Romeo, even encouraged it at times. Then hie you hence to Friar
Lawrence s cell. There stays a husband to make you a wife. (III.v. 169) This quote demonstrates the
fact that the nurse, instead of trying to steer Juliet off the path of forbidden love, is in fact, helping her
obtain a life with Romeo. While it is admirable that the nurse cares for Juliet and wishes for her to live
a happy life, the nurse s love for Juliet blinded her ration and ability to think clearly. In turn, after
having the adult that raised you accept your wishes, no matter how inane they are, Juliet now, even
more so than before, feels as though a life with Romeo is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

For instance, this quote demonstrates the fact that Juliet is already willing to give up her family name,
in return for a life with Romeo. Perhaps, if Romeo was not there to hear her thoughts at the moment,
Juliet would have had the ability to dwell on her views a bit more, and in turn, realize how soon
everything was happening. Therefore, she would attempt to slow down the course of action their
relationship was obviously taking. First love is always exciting, but one has to keep their head
throughout it. Juliet simply jumped right in, headfirst, not a thought in mind of neither the
consequences nor the costs of her making rash choices at her 13 years, without pondering them for

Essay on The Running Back Position in Football
Running Backs
To be the best you got to beat the best; therefore I am the best cause I ve beaten the rest (Barry
Sanders). The game of football only requires 22 men, but only one man can be the running back. The
running back position is considered the most prestigious of the game. To be a great running back in
the N.F.L. you must possess certain qualities such as: speed, strength, agility, field vision, quick feet,
and good stamina. Barry Sanders, Walter Payton, and Marcus Allen all possess these qualities and are
three of the best running backs the National Football League will ever see.

With 2,566 yards, he holds the record for rushing yards in a season. Furthermore, he has been elected
to the Pro Bowl 13 times. Barry Sanders has more records than any running back. He is also known
for his charitable works done through the country. Barry Sanders is one of the greatest people to grace
the field with his presents and the game will always be grateful.
The name Walter Payton is one that needs no introduction. He was the NFL Player of the Year and
Most Valuable Player in both 1977 and 1985. His list of accomplishments include catching 492 pass
receptions for 4,538 yards, 15 touchdowns, and passing 34 times for 331 yards and 8 touchdowns. As
you can see, Walter Payton is one of the greatest players ever. Walter Payton is a class act, and will
always be remembered as a pioneer on the gridiron.
Marcus Allen is a man who commands attention every time he steps on the field. Marcus is the only
running back that is just as dangerous catching the ball out the backfield as he is running the ball.
Holding records that range from most catches in a season to most yards in a season; Marcus Allen is
the most divers running back the N.F.L. has ever saw. Marcus also has donated a lot of money to
different foundations.
To be considered one of the greatest running backs of all time you must posses the qualities not just of
a good runner, but also as a good person. All three of these men posses those qualities and are the
greatest running backs of all time. Moreover,

The Effect Of Fructose On The Aging Process
indefinitely on long lived molecules such as collagen and DNA. Evidence suggests that these AGE
molecules play a role in the aging process. The Maillard process is dependent on the reactivity of the
sugar involved. Fructose is much more reactive than glucose. In vivo, the rate of non enzymatic
glycosylation of haemoglobin was 7.5 greater, and the rate of protein cross linking (a marker of aging)
was 10 times greater, in the presence of fructose than in the presence of glucose. Therefore, it is safe
to conclude that fructose has a much greater implication in the aging process than glucose, taking the
glycosylation of haemoglobin as an assay for this. [1]
As a reducing sugar, fructose reacts with protein molecules to form toxic advanced glycation end
products (AGEs) to a much greater extent than other sugars, which appears to contribute not only to
the aging process but also play a role in the pathogenesis of diabetic complications in diabetic patients
such as nephropathy, retinopathy, neuropathy and others. Supplementing the diet of healthy male
volunteers with 3g of fructose per kg of body weight per day resulted in insulin resistance developing
in as little as six days. A study carried out in non diabetic rats fed a diet containing 68% carbohydrate,
provided as fructose, shows that almost all retinas from the rats showed pathologic changes that were
histologically indistinguishable from diabetic retinopathy. [1]

Review Of Alan Brinkley s The Unfinished Nation
Section 1: Identification and Evaluation The investigation question: What were the limitations of the
programs presented in the first New Deal? will focus between the years 1933 to 1935, as the nation,
with FDR s guidance, slowly attempted to dig its way out of the Depression. Analysis will be made
regarding the purpose of the programs and what they lacked in gaining success. Though some of his
first few domestic programs garnered success, Roosevelt s first New Deal had not fully provided the
country with the solace it needed. The first source evaluated was Alan Brinkley s The Unfinished
Nation, published in 2004. This source is valuable in its origin because Brinkley, a professor Columbia
University, specializes in twentieth century American history. He has won several awards for his
works, was chair of the Department of History, and later became University Provost. Brinkley s 45
years as a historian, as well as the fact that his scholarship focuses mainly on the period of the Great
Depression, indicates extensive knowledge on the subject. The purpose is valuable in that Brinkley s
The Unfinished Nation is a historical textbook used widely in colleges and high schools with AP
classes, indicating the validity of the work. The second source evaluated was Ira Katznelson s Fear
Itself, published in 2014. This source is valuable in its origin because Katznelson is an Americanist a

How Did Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi Change The Impact Of...
Making his debut on the political scene primarily around 1919, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi
changed the course of India s movement towards independence permanently for the next century. The
former British lawyer discovered his niche in government and leadership in South Africa, which he
then took back to his homeland of South Asia. By pursuing his moral based political ideology through
the use of predominantly non violent non cooperation practices, Gandhi struck made impacts, both
positive and negative, throughout the hearts of Indian natives across the nation. Supportive or crtical
of Gandhi s beliefs and political methhods for achieving independence from Britain, the statement that
Gandhi forever influenced political activism is irrefutable. While Gandhi s set of beliefs consisted of
many sub branches and complex economic plots, his sole center of political ideology revolves around
morality. He expressed this in an exerpt from Young India in 1920, stating, I reject any religious
doctrine that does not appeal to reason and is in conflict with morality (Modern South Asia 112).
Gandhi s ultimate goal was for the nation to reach such a state of enlightenmnet that no form of
representatives would be necessary. This utopian universe created in Gandhi s mind was referred to as
Ram Rajya. Part of the motive behind this concept was due to Gandhi s anti colonial sentiment, as he
believed India has become impovershed by their Government when referring to the British (Hind

Summary Of Celia Behind Me
Isabel Huggan s Celia Behind Me is a short story about bullying. It depicts a young Elizabeth who
finds solace and is accepted by her peers because she takes part in intimidating her schoolmate Celia.
Unlike them, she goes too far, physically assaults the girl and, unknowingly, digs a hole into a world
of suffering and despair. Using various repeating motifs and a similar characterization of the two
characters, Huggan demonstrates that those who purposefully do wrong to others will eventually also
suffer themselves. To start off, various motifs represent the similar fates of the bully as well as the
victim. In fact, a motif of watermelons, which represent heads, is present throughout the story.
Elizabeth first talks of her aunts ... [whose] heads smashed together like overripe melons ... Show

Elizabeth is described to be also chunky and ... [wear] glasses too (76), which introduces the fact that
they are similar. Soon after, the fact that Celia is just a little behind Elizabeth in the social ladder is

This means that both girls are in a similar situation, while Celia is just a little worse. Like written in
the title Celia Behind Me , Elizabeth mentions that Celia [always] ... [scuffles] and ... [trips] a few
yards behind [them] (76). This description represents not only that they are always closely linked
together, but that Elizabeth is on the brink of falling into the same situation as her poor classmate. This
troubling inevitable fate is later shown to be dangerously close when they are described being treated
the same way by Sandra, an older girl. Di a beet ics and Suck y ba bies can t eat chocolate (78), she

The, The Beautiful Mexican Maid
During the mid 1800s, many Anglo Saxon Americans, including author Ned Buntline, were against
U.S. expansionism and the concept of Manifest Destiny. Subsequently, they were also against the U.S.
invasion of Mexico in 1846. Due to their nativism, they were worried about the incorporation of the
natives in the conquered territories into America. Buntline used his novel Magdalena, The Beautiful
Mexican Maid: A Story of Buena Vista, to express his fears and to convince his readers that
incorporating native Mexicans into the union might seem like a good idea at first, but would
ultimately be an unwise decision for the country. Manifest destiny was the widely held belief that
America was destined to expand the entire continent. Once the country touched the Atlantic and the
Pacific, Americans started looking overseas for territory to expand to. This expansion took the form of
American intervention in other countries in order to bring democracy, but in reality this expansion was
for America s own gain. In 1898, Spain declared war on America due to America s intervention in
Cuba s war for independence. The war was not only fought in the Caribbean, but also in the Pacific,
which led America to be involved in the Philippine Revolution and in turn the Philippine American
War. After America won the war, it gained several new island territories around the world, which led
people to believe that the war was fought due to America s interest in the territories and not due to the
fact that

Essay On Law Enforcement Education
Law Enforcement Education and Training in the 21st Century and its Relation to Police
Professionalization
There is a great debate over the question of whether American law enforcement has achieved the
status of a profession. In order to answer this question, there is a need to define what a profession is
and identify the requisite attributes that qualifies an occupation to be identified as a profession.
Criminal justice administrators have been actively pursuing professionalization for their chosen
vocation while police researchers have been making recommendations which require increasing levels
of higher education and an expanded college curricula for law enforcement service (Carter, Sapp,
Stephens, State of Police Education: Policy Direction for the 21st Century, 1989). However, it seems
that part of the challenge of professionalization is the lack of general understanding of the concept.
Professionalization occurs when an occupation ceases to be irregular in operation and transforms itself
by ...the development of formal qualifications based upon education, apprenticeship, and
examinations, the emergence of regulatory bodies with powers to admit and discipline members, and
some degree of monopoly rights. (Bullock Trombley, 1999, p. 689).
A substantive definition for profession has been elusive in the literature review; therefore, a profession
can be constructively defined as a full time, remunerated, services oriented vocation governed by a
code of ethics and based on

Narrative Voice In Lot s Wife
The depiction of the characters is a vital aspect of Szymborska s works. This is notable in the poems
Lot s Wife and The Terrorist, He s Watching (see Appendix 1). This depiction of the characters is
influenced by many literary techniques, one being narrative voice. Narrative voice can be defined as
the eyes the reader sees a story through. This is separated into three distinct types: first, second and
third person. First person is typically told from the perspective of the main character, second person
addresses the main character as you and third person refers to the characters as he or she. Third person
can either be omniscient; knowing an unlimited amount of information about all characters, events and
conflicts in the story, or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The poem commences with a third person narrative voice. This persona describes the terrorist as
enjoying the moment, The terrorist has already crossed the street. / The distance keeps him out of
danger, / and what a view just like the movies: (5 7). By describing the situation as movie like, it
shows that the terrorist values his life over others as he situates himself at a distance where he can
observe safely. This idea is also expressed through the fact that the language is factual, observational
and unemotional, conveying the emotional detachment of the terrorist towards the pain and suffering
he will inflict. The use of language in this is vastly different to that of Lot s Wife with the contrast of
emotional language and factual language. The descriptions of the individuals are detached with
mundane characteristics, such as the crummy gloves (26), only being mentioned. This creates the
sense that these individuals are less important than him, showing that the terrorist looks down on
them. Throughout the piece, there is a sense of dramatic irony, with the terrorist knowing something
that the people entering and exiting the bar don t. This introduces the idea that the terrorist perceives
this situation as comedic. This idea is continued with the use of time intervals marking the countdown
of the detonation.

Examples Of Glory In Beowulf
The Anglo Saxons were Germanic tribes from the German regions of Angeln and Saxony that had
moved over to Britain. They had conquered the Jutes and Frisians from Denmark. In the time period
where the Anglo Saxon s were living and thriving (410 660 A.D.), glory was one of the more
important points of their beliefs. They wanted glory for their king, glory for their warrior tribe, glory
for themselves, and finally, glory for their ancestors. Glory was the thread that kept the Anglo Saxon
culture, the warrior clans, and epic heroes, such as Beowulf himself, truly glorious. Glory kept the
Anglo Saxon culture important in the Anglo Saxons lifestyle and truly glorious. For example the mead

monsters such as the sea monsters and Grendel. When Beowulf was sinking down to the bottom of the

monsters in her cave to help tear Beowulf apart. Luckily for Beowulf, the only thing that kept him
alive was his unbreakable chain mail. He does fight the sea monsters, but his main goal was to kill
Grendel s mom. ...a bewildering horde came at him from the depths, droves of sea beasts who attacked

Dr King Nobel Peace Prize Speech Sparknotes
Dr. King s Nobel Peace Prize Lecture was one of the most powerful reading assignments during my

the United States and it motivated me to become a future leader in my home county, Saudi Arabia.

momentary results (King, 1964, pg. 8). Subsequently, King did not believe in violence and preached
non violence. King felt that nonviolence was the only means to fight oppression, racism, and injustice.
King preached tenets of universal love; moreover, King fought against despair, racial separatism, and

Stroke Effect
One of the more common side effects after suffering a stroke is difficulty with speech. This can be
very frustrating for the stroke victim and can make recovery all that much difficult. Speech therapy is
an essential part of stroke rehab. It offers the patient the ability to recover the ability to communicate.
How Does Stroke Affect Speech Speech is not a simple process when it comes to brain functions. A
person has to think about what he or she wants to say. Then, those thoughts must be translated into
words. Then the brain must command the mouth and throat to form those words and transmit sound.
Understanding what someone is saying is just as complicated. The brain must capture the soundwaves
that the ears capture. Then, the brain must ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When it comes to physical motion, each side of the brain controls what is happening on the other side.
That means the right side of the brain controls the left side of the body, and the left side of the brain
controls the right side of the body. However, each side of the brain has additional functions besides
controlling motion. The left side of the brain is normally tasked with controlling speech and
understanding language. So, if a stroke affects the left side of the brain, it is possible for it to affect
that person s ability to speak or to understand what is being said. This is part of a condition known as
aphasia. Aphasia can cause problems with speaking, listening, reading, writing, understanding speech,
and thinking of words when speaking or writing. The exact symptoms involved with a particular
patient depends on the type and severity of the injury to the brain. It affects about 20 percent of stroke
patients. How Does Speech Therapy Improve Aphasia The most common treatment for aphasia is
treatment with a speech language therapist. The therapist works to identify the exact issues the patient
is having and to develop a plan on how to improve and manage those issues. The therapist can help
the patient use his or her remaining abilities to the fullest, to restore language abilities where possible,
to work around remaining language problems, and to learn other ways to get the message

Ludwig Van Beethoven s Creativity
Creativity can sometimes be the result of torment. Ludwig van Beethoven was a famous classical
composer with a hard life. Throughout his entire life, he suffered from various diseases, hearing
difficulties, mental disorders and social problems, (Russell and Nibley 25 ). Yet despite all of these
terrible ailments, he was able to compose music that is considered some of the best ever composed,
and that is still appreciated today.
Beethoven was born in Bonn, Germany on December 17, 1770 (F.C.C). His father, Johann, was an
alcoholic who used to bully and beat Ludwig and drag him crying out of bed to practice piano. His
mother, Maria, in contrast, was kind and intelligent (Russell and Nibley 11 12). He was a natural
musician and performed when he was seven on piano and at eight had piano, violin, and viola lessons.
When he was eleven, he was deputy court organist (Russell and Nibley 12). He showed talent at an
early age so when he became deaf, it was a tragic loss for him. Even though Beethoven became deaf,
he still managed to become well skilled at composing, a job which requires hearing. ... Show more

Testing on Beethoven s hair indicated tremendous amounts of mercury in his system. Mercury could
have been prescribed as a remedy for his various illness when he was a child. This poisoning could
explain his early deafness and his odd behavior (Russel and Nibley 1,7). Beethoven s middle years
were spent supporting his family because his father and mother had died when he was young (Russell
and Nibley 14). He was influenced by many people who helped and encouraged him during these
years. Beethoven supposedly got his musical traits from his grandfather (Russell and Nibley 11). Then
as a young organist, Christian Gotlob Neefe, taught Beethoven and was a good mentor and friend.
Later, in 1792, Beethoven left Bonn to live in Vienna, where Josef Haydn served to promote
Beethoven to the Viennese cultural community (Russel and Nibley

Cross Cultural Communication Essay
The three cultures that are involved in cross cultural communication are the Missionary s Culture
Context, the Bible Culture Context, and the Respondent s Culture Context. The Missionary s culture is
a missionaries understanding and interpretation of the Bible according to their upbringing in the
gospel, and their traditions. For example, I grew up in the Methodist Church, and singing hymns is a
part of our worship and culture. Some modernize Churches do not necessary care for hymns, because
it seems to turn off the younger generation from attending Church. Therefore, the modern Church may
only sing a hymn on a special occasion to honor their heritage, but they do include hymns as part of
their weekly worship. Nevertheless, no matter the cultural differences God loves diversity (Winter,
2009, p. 354). As I reflect over my culture there is not too much difference in the Bible culture, we
praise and worship, fast and pray many are still judgmental and prejudice, and slander and cheat.
Ecclesiastes 1:9 states History merely repeats itself. It has all been done before. Nothing under the sun
is truly new. Therefore, in my opinion the culture only changes when we change. Unfortunately, some
people cast believers to the side when we do change, but now as I reflecting on this topic, it really just
gives us an opportunity to create a more Christ like culture, the way God intended it to be since the
beginning of time.
The Bible Culture Context is the foundational key to

The Collapse of the Madoff Pyramid Essay
Our economy has been built upon for decades creating growth within the business industry.
Businesses provide jobs, finances, and security for individual s within society and is a main source of
what defines our prosperous country. Every business has an ethical responsibility to its members and
employee s and to society at large. Ethical responsibility is a major component in which society needs
to reinforce because it helps create principles, values, and standards, all of which help to guide a

honest growth when his father in law Saul Alpern, joined to the firm as an accountant. During this
time, there were a plethora of competing firms on the New York Stock Exchange, so to gain a

Theme Of Anger In The Help By Kathryn Stockett
To sum up, Anger is considered a psychological state to express feelings whether it is exasperation or
that may range in intensity from mild irritation to intense fury and anger. Thence, anger cannot only

Social Exchange Theory And Social Exchange Theory
Mrs. Rose, an 85 year old Dominican woman, grew up in an urban town in South Carolina. She is the
youngest of two sisters and one brother. Rose stated her life growing up was stressful after her parents
separated. Also, she said her mother had to work two jobs so that she could provide for their family.
Due to the fact of limited income with many mouths to feed, Rose s older siblings moved to their
grandparent s house. She further stated once her siblings moved, there was not a relationship between
the siblings, and her mother became abusive. Consequently, the stress of having to work two jobs
coupled with Rose s mother experiencing abuse as a child kept the cycle of violence to continue. Rose
stated her mother homeschooled her brother for the reason that the bruises left would have quickly
alerted the department of family and children services. Moreover, Rose indicated her mother dropped
out of middle school, and the education that her mother taught was not beneficial. As Rose developed,
she noted discrimination started happening. Although she tried to disregard the racism, she stated the
environment affected her ability to love.

Computer Causes And Disadvantages Essay
Computers are a vital part of many different jobs and activities globally, however there are many
health issues that are caused and associated with working with computers. The over use of computers
can cause eye strain. By forcing your eyes to focus at for a long period of time at the distance cause
fatigue. Structurally, the human eye prefers to look at objects that are more than six metres away, so
any work executed close up puts additional strain on the eye muscles. The light of the computer can
also cause fatigue, the symptoms that can occur are blurred vision, temporary inability to focus on far
away objects and headaches. By making sure the main source of light in a room is not shining straight
onto your face or directly onto the computer screen, this helps to prevent eye strain. If using the
computer at night in a dark room the computer screens brightness is turned down to a minimum. Also,
tilting the screen slightly to avoid reflections or glace and insures the computer screen is not too close
to your face. It is advised that people take regular breaks during a long period of focused work e.g.
every hour. It is important that regular eye examinations are attended to check that any blurred vision,
headaches and any other related problems are not caused by a primary problem, which is then made
worse by the over use of a computer. (Betterhealth,2017)

Mining and The Environment Essay examples
Introduction In our days, mining for resources is inevitable. The resources we need are valuable in
everyday life. Such resources mined up are coal, copper, gold, silver, and sand. However, mining
poses environmental risks that can degrade the quality of soil and water, which can end up effecting us
humans if not taken care of and many of the damages are irreversible once they have occurred.
History and Case Studies of Mining and the Effects on the Environment Mines pose a threat to the
environment. They can degrade soil and water quality if left untreated. The United States

These left over tailings create human and ecological health problems that can be caused from exposure
to the dust that are blown from these mine sites since metal toxicants can persist in tailing particles
(arizona.edu, 2008). Another threat to the environment is acid mine drainage (also known as acid rock
drainage). Acid mine drainage is the outflow of acidic water from a mining site. This acid is formed by
the oxidation of iron sulfide. The oxidation occurs when iron sulfide is exposed to the air or to
dissolved oxygen in the water, which causes the iron to rust and the sulfur reacts with the water to
forum sulfuric acid (Coil, D., McKittrick, E., and Higman, B., 2010). Figure 2 illustrates the sulfuric
acid that is formed. Acid mine drainage is most common with hardrock mines where metal ore is
bound together with sulfur. The increased acidity created from acid mine drainage has a series of
negative effects, depending on the severity of change in the pH level. The acid mine drainage creates
inhospitable environments to aquatic life in river systems and former mine sites, with the exception of
extremophile bacteria (Coil, D., McKittrick, E., and Higman, B., 2010). Acid mine drainage can
severely degrade the quality of the water, especially if it s a essential water supply.
Solutions There are two primary methods of preventing acid mine drainage fall. One is preventing
sulfuric acid from forming, and the other is neutralizing the acid after it forms. In

Style preferences: Design details an individual desire in their apparel.
CHAPTER 2
Review of Literature
The purpose of this study is to identify and quantify the reasons clothes produced massively are
returned and determine possible ways, including 3D body scanning, that can be used to eliminate the
return of these clothes for alterations. This study will help fashion designers to improve their fashion
skills and reduce the rate of loss because some clothes returned may not be saleable. This will also
help to increase the profit on clothes sold. On the side of customers, this study will help to bring
satisfaction to customers for the clothes purchased and reduce the stress (return in store or post) gone
through while buying clothes.
The review of literature provides background for these variables by exploring the following topics:
mass customization, body scanning technology, precision, accuracy and interobserver error, body
shape, age, fit, fit problems, fit preferences, and clothing benefits sought.

The post 9/11 conflict in Iraq and the undeclared war in Vietnam both had a profound impact on the
United States. These two military conflicts have been a source of contention among the American
public for decades. These wars became tedious as a result of their longevity, both the Vietnam War and
the war in Iraq lasted for almost a decade, and according to the US Department of Defense and Time
magazine, those wars cost upwards of 100 billion dollars each. Another similarity between the
Vietnam War and the war in Iraq is the high number of causalities. The Vietnam War has an estimated

According to the Hoover Institution, a research institution supported by Stanford University, in the

president Johnson had lost sight of any objective he had previously. While in office President Bush
sought total victory in Iraq, which he defined as building the Iraqi society into a stable democracy. In
contrast, President Obama s objective was to remove US troops from Iraq. These wars also had
different military strategies. In Vietnam from 1965 to mid 1968, American troops focused on killing as
many of North Vietnamese soldiers and Viet Cong guerrillas as the could, with the hopeful end result
of them quitting. In Iraq the primary commission of American soldiers was not to kill, but to instead

3. How Friendly Are They?
The breed is sweet, patient, eager to please, loyal and intelligent. They are very patient and caring with
children and typically get along well with cats and dogs, although they may give chase after smaller,
fleeing animals.
They are easy to train and do best with positive reinforcement, but in their first year, they can be
clumsy and slow to mature. They do not endure kenneling or confinement well if left for long periods
of time.
The Irish wolfhound is not a guarding breed; although they look intimidating because of their size,
they are not aggressive or protective by nature. Most often they are friendly with everyone they meet.
4. Is This the Right Dog for You? Exercise Needs
MEDIUM: Being a giant dog breed, Irish wolfhounds grow quickly. Exercise that is strenuous or
continuous for long periods of time should be avoided for the first year to protect the dog s physical
development. The breed is inactive indoors and does well with a large yard. They are not ideal for

How Can Adversity be Advantageous Essay
Adversity puts people in difficult or unpleasant situations which can create very strong emotions that
can help or harm. When people face adversity, it is seen as a challenge and whether or not they
overcome the challenge is personal. However regardless of whether adversity helps or harms, it is
advantageous because it offers a challenge to overcome which builds character. I believe it to be true
of the whole human race that when something pushes you down you look to find a way out of it. We

Fossil Fuel Resources For Alternative Sources Of Energy Essay
Diminishing fossil fuel resources have prompted scientists and researchers to look for alternative
sources of energy. Though several alternative sources of energy have been identified, generation of
energy using combustion of fuels still remains the dominant source of energy globally [1].
In search for alternative fuels, biofuels have shown promising results to generate useful energy.
However, efficient atomization of some high viscosity biofuels to yield maximum useful energy and
minimise emissions is an area of research that has not been completely explored so far. As a result,
liquid atomization has drawn a lot of attention among researchers over the past few years [2].
Though several different types of atomization processes are used in the industry, twin fluid
atomization practices have been quite common and effective. Twin fluid atomization techniques can
be broadly classified into Air Blast (AB) atomization, Effervescent Atomization (EA), and Flow
Blurring (FB) atomization.
Amongst these, FB atomization technique is a very recently developed concept that has demonstrated
promising experimental results with high atomization efficiency. Researchers have conducted
experiments to understand the process of atomization in a FB injector as well as the spray
characteristics [2].
However, a computational model has not been developed so far to complement the outcomes from
practical experiments. This project was aimed at gaining further in depth understanding of a FB
injector

Five Steps In The Departure Of The Hero s Quest
There are five steps in the Departure of the Hero s Quest. The first step of the Departure is The Call to
Adventure. This is the point in the character s life when he realizes he is going to have to go on the
Hero Quest. Beowulf experienced The Call to Adventure when he realized what Grendel was doing to
Heorot, and he felt obligated to help King Hrothgar because he is his father s friend. The second step
of the Departure is the Refusal of the Call. The Refusal of the Call is when the hero first refuses the
call because of fear, insecurity, etc. This step is not included in Beowulf. I think the author chose to

Comparing Kripke s Naming And Necessity
In Naming and Necessity , Philosopher Saul Kripke believes that there are some contingent truths that
can be known a priori, or independent of experience. It is standard to believe that a priori truths
coincide with necessary truths rather than with contingent. I will argue in agreeance with Kripke.
There are cases in which contingent a priori truths exist.
A priori knowledge is knowledge gained independent of experience. It is the knowledge that can be
gained from learning the language, but without actual experience or need to consult the external
world. For example, someone who knows that All bachelors are unmarried men does not need to
experience being unmarried to defend this statement. By having knowledge of the language, one
knows that, by definition, a bachelor is an unmarried man.
By contrast, a posteriori propositions can only be known through experience of the external world. If I
say that It is windy outside , then in order to understand this proposition I must have experience of the
weather.
A necessary truth is a truth that could not be false, where a contingent truth is one that could be false.
If you could alter the universe in any possible way, the necessary truths will not change compared to
the contingent truths. The typical way ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Apply Vehicle Wrap Finish Every Few Months
In addition to being careful when you wash the wrap, you will also need to apply a new coat of
protective finish to the wrap every few months. These coatings will help reduce the chances that the
wrap suffers a tear due to flying road debris. Also, the coating will help to prevent the sun s intense
rays from bleaching the color out of your wrap.
These finishes can be purchased from most automotive supply stores, and you will need to ensure that
the vehicle has been thoroughly washed before applying the finish. If you apply the finish to a dirty

Parenting In George Saunders s Argumentative Essay
Parenting has been a struggle since the beginning of human history. Trying to teach the new

in the least to suggest that every parent who has ever conceived a child has not, from that moment,
been struck with fear from the doubt in their own ability to naturally raise a child to the point of
adulthood where there is nothing wrong with in the eyes of society. In adversity to this struggle,
parents from the beginning have tried proven and failed methods taught to them by their parents

After having vision and strategy, clearly communicating the vision throughout my brigade is the next

change, how my vision looks like, the way to achieve this vision, and how the change benefits
members of my brigade. I will compare this vision to another picture of the brigade if change is not

The fifth step of the process is empowering broad based action. The previous four steps help me build

  • 2. Euthanasia And The Closely Related Procedure Euthanasia and the closely related procedure, assisted suicide, are some of the most highly debated topics in ethics. Although the procedures are different in name, their definitions are quite similar. Euthanasia can be defined in two ways: passive or active. Passive euthanasia is defined as allowing the patient s illness to kill them; refusing medical treatment. Active euthanasia, however, is defined as killing through lethal injection, which also happens to be known as assisted suicide. From the perspective of the deeply religious to those who just value the life of both themselves and others, euthanasia and assisted suicide are fancy terms for murder. From my perspective, euthanasia and assisted suicide are procedures that should only be allowed for those who are suffering from incurable and physically painful illnesses that incapacitate them to the point where they cannot properly function in society. What constitutes proper function in society will be discussed later on, but it plays a pivotal role in the decision that one makes to die or not. Now some may disagree and say that no matter the circumstance, one does not have the right to end their own life; this too will be discussed in further detail. This essay will focus on the aspects mentioned above and will provide the necessary answer to this debate between life and death. As stated by Nowell Smith, but if we grant, as no doubt we all do, that everyone has a right to life, if follows as once that we have a right ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Layoffs brought much saving, but new positions post was added later, which added more jobs, meaning more government spending. Debt of Toronto has been rising, and the interest payments on debt have placed a huge burden on the operating of the city. Unifying wages, which means paying the same salary to employees of six local municipalities for the same work, increased salary costs. As for financing issues, in 2003, Toronto did not gain any fund neither from the federal government, nor gain the fund from the provincial government, that is even fewer than 38 big cities in united states(Schwartz,2009,p.487).The ability to raise revenue of Toronto is governed by Ontario s municipal law, and provincial and federal municipalities are reluctant to provide additional financial assistance. However, most of the 38 big cities in the united states have the legal right to use sales taxes and income taxes of city hall, and are greatly assisted by the state and federal governments (Schwartz,2009, p.487). Capital expenditures in Toronto mainly include the construction of public facilities, environmental maintenance and the service capital assets required for enterprises and individuals. The true factor, which inevitably leads to Juliet s demise, was her lack of experience in love, life, and marriage. Juliet s lack in experience was what brought her to meet her end. In vivo, the rate of non enzymatic glycosylation of haemoglobin was 7.5 greater, and the rate of protein cross linking (a marker of aging) was 10 times greater, in the presence of fructose than in the presence of glucose. Therefore, it is safe to conclude that fructose has a much greater implication in the aging process than glucose, taking the glycosylation of haemoglobin as an assay for this. [1] As a reducing sugar, fructose reacts with protein molecules to form toxic advanced glycation end products (AGEs) to a much greater extent than other sugars, which appears to contribute not only to the aging process but also play a role in the pathogenesis of diabetic complications in diabetic patients such as nephropathy, retinopathy, neuropathy and others. Supplementing the diet of healthy male volunteers with 3g of fructose per kg of body weight per day resulted in insulin resistance developing in as little as six days. A study carried out in non diabetic rats fed a diet containing 68% carbohydrate, provided as fructose, shows that almost all retinas from the rats showed pathologic changes that were histologically indistinguishable from diabetic retinopathy. Review Of Alan Brinkley s The Unfinished Nation Section 1: Identification and Evaluation The investigation question: What were the limitations of the programs presented in the first New Deal? will focus between the years 1933 to 1935, as the nation, with FDR s guidance, slowly attempted to dig its way out of the Depression. Analysis will be made regarding the purpose of the programs and what they lacked in gaining success. Though some of his first few domestic programs garnered success, Roosevelt s first New Deal had not fully provided the country with the solace it needed. The first source evaluated was Alan Brinkley s The Unfinished Nation, published in 2004. This source is valuable in its origin because Brinkley, a professor Columbia University, specializes in twentieth century American history. He has won several awards for his works, was chair of the Department of History, and later became University Provost. Brinkley s 45 years as a historian, as well as the fact that his scholarship focuses mainly on the period of the Great Depression, indicates extensive knowledge on the subject. The purpose is valuable in that Brinkley s The Unfinished Nation is a historical textbook used widely in colleges and high schools with AP classes, indicating the validity of the work. • 11. How Did Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi Change The Impact Of... Making his debut on the political scene primarily around 1919, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi changed the course of India s movement towards independence permanently for the next century. The former British lawyer discovered his niche in government and leadership in South Africa, which he then took back to his homeland of South Asia. By pursuing his moral based political ideology through the use of predominantly non violent non cooperation practices, Gandhi struck made impacts, both positive and negative, throughout the hearts of Indian natives across the nation. Supportive or crtical of Gandhi s beliefs and political methhods for achieving independence from Britain, the statement that Gandhi forever influenced political activism is irrefutable. While Gandhi s set of beliefs consisted of many sub branches and complex economic plots, his sole center of political ideology revolves around morality. He expressed this in an exerpt from Young India in 1920, stating, I reject any religious doctrine that does not appeal to reason and is in conflict with morality (Modern South Asia 112). Gandhi s ultimate goal was for the nation to reach such a state of enlightenmnet that no form of representatives would be necessary. This utopian universe created in Gandhi s mind was referred to as Ram Rajya. Part of the motive behind this concept was due to Gandhi s anti colonial sentiment, as he believed India has become impovershed by their Government when referring to the British (Hind Swaraj ... • 12. Summary Of Celia Behind Me Isabel Huggan s Celia Behind Me is a short story about bullying. It depicts a young Elizabeth who finds solace and is accepted by her peers because she takes part in intimidating her schoolmate Celia. Unlike them, she goes too far, physically assaults the girl and, unknowingly, digs a hole into a world of suffering and despair. Using various repeating motifs and a similar characterization of the two characters, Huggan demonstrates that those who purposefully do wrong to others will eventually also suffer themselves. • 13. The, The Beautiful Mexican Maid During the mid 1800s, many Anglo Saxon Americans, including author Ned Buntline, were against U.S. expansionism and the concept of Manifest Destiny. Subsequently, they were also against the U.S. invasion of Mexico in 1846. Due to their nativism, they were worried about the incorporation of the natives in the conquered territories into America. Buntline used his novel Magdalena, The Beautiful Mexican Maid: A Story of Buena Vista, to express his fears and to convince his readers that incorporating native Mexicans into the union might seem like a good idea at first, but would ultimately be an unwise decision for the country. Manifest destiny was the widely held belief that America was destined to expand the entire continent. Once the country touched the Atlantic and the Pacific, Americans started looking overseas for territory to expand to. This expansion took the form of American intervention in other countries in order to bring democracy, but in reality this expansion was for America s own gain. In 1898, Spain declared war on America due to America s intervention in Cuba s war for independence. The war was not only fought in the Caribbean, but also in the Pacific, which led America to be involved in the Philippine Revolution and in turn the Philippine American War. After America won the war, it gained several new island territories around the world, which led people to believe that the war was fought due to America s interest in the territories and not due to the fact that ... • 14. Essay On Law Enforcement Education Law Enforcement Education and Training in the 21st Century and its Relation to Police Professionalization There is a great debate over the question of whether American law enforcement has achieved the status of a profession. In order to answer this question, there is a need to define what a profession is and identify the requisite attributes that qualifies an occupation to be identified as a profession. Criminal justice administrators have been actively pursuing professionalization for their chosen vocation while police researchers have been making recommendations which require increasing levels of higher education and an expanded college curricula for law enforcement service (Carter, Sapp, Stephens, State of Police Education: Policy Direction for the 21st Century, 1989). However, it seems that part of the challenge of professionalization is the lack of general understanding of the concept. Professionalization occurs when an occupation ceases to be irregular in operation and transforms itself by ...the development of formal qualifications based upon education, apprenticeship, and examinations, the emergence of regulatory bodies with powers to admit and discipline members, and some degree of monopoly rights. (Bullock Trombley, 1999, p. 689). A substantive definition for profession has been elusive in the literature review; therefore, a profession can be constructively defined as a full time, remunerated, services oriented vocation governed by a code of ethics and based on ... This is notable in the poems Lot s Wife and The Terrorist, He s Watching (see Appendix 1). This depiction of the characters is influenced by many literary techniques, one being narrative voice. Narrative voice can be defined as the eyes the reader sees a story through. This is separated into three distinct types: first, second and third person. First person is typically told from the perspective of the main character, second person addresses the main character as you and third person refers to the characters as he or she. The poem commences with a third person narrative voice. This persona describes the terrorist as enjoying the moment, The terrorist has already crossed the street. / The distance keeps him out of danger, / and what a view just like the movies: (5 7). By describing the situation as movie like, it shows that the terrorist values his life over others as he situates himself at a distance where he can observe safely. This idea is also expressed through the fact that the language is factual, observational and unemotional, conveying the emotional detachment of the terrorist towards the pain and suffering he will inflict. The use of language in this is vastly different to that of Lot s Wife with the contrast of emotional language and factual language. The descriptions of the individuals are detached with mundane characteristics, such as the crummy gloves (26), only being mentioned. This creates the sense that these individuals are less important than him, showing that the terrorist looks down on them. Throughout the piece, there is a sense of dramatic irony, with the terrorist knowing something that the people entering and exiting the bar don t. This introduces the idea that the terrorist perceives this situation as comedic. This idea is continued with the use of time intervals marking the countdown of the detonation. ... This can be very frustrating for the stroke victim and can make recovery all that much difficult. Speech therapy is an essential part of stroke rehab. It offers the patient the ability to recover the ability to communicate. How Does Stroke Affect Speech Speech is not a simple process when it comes to brain functions. A person has to think about what he or she wants to say. Then, those thoughts must be translated into words. Then the brain must command the mouth and throat to form those words and transmit sound. Cross Cultural Communication Essay The three cultures that are involved in cross cultural communication are the Missionary s Culture Context, the Bible Culture Context, and the Respondent s Culture Context. The Missionary s culture is a missionaries understanding and interpretation of the Bible according to their upbringing in the gospel, and their traditions. For example, I grew up in the Methodist Church, and singing hymns is a part of our worship and culture. Some modernize Churches do not necessary care for hymns, because it seems to turn off the younger generation from attending Church. Therefore, the modern Church may only sing a hymn on a special occasion to honor their heritage, but they do include hymns as part of their weekly worship. As I reflect over my culture there is not too much difference in the Bible culture, we praise and worship, fast and pray many are still judgmental and prejudice, and slander and cheat. Ecclesiastes 1:9 states History merely repeats itself. It has all been done before. Nothing under the sun is truly new. Therefore, in my opinion the culture only changes when we change. This acid is formed by the oxidation of iron sulfide. The oxidation occurs when iron sulfide is exposed to the air or to dissolved oxygen in the water, which causes the iron to rust and the sulfur reacts with the water to forum sulfuric acid (Coil, D., McKittrick, E., and Higman, B., 2010). When people face adversity, it is seen as a challenge and whether or not they overcome the challenge is personal. However regardless of whether adversity helps or harms, it is advantageous because it offers a challenge to overcome which builds character. I believe it to be true of the whole human race that when something pushes you down you look to find a way out of it. We always try our best to overcome adversity and that can make us stronger. • 33. Fossil Fuel Resources For Alternative Sources Of Energy Essay Diminishing fossil fuel resources have prompted scientists and researchers to look for alternative sources of energy. Though several alternative sources of energy have been identified, generation of energy using combustion of fuels still remains the dominant source of energy globally [1]. In search for alternative fuels, biofuels have shown promising results to generate useful energy. However, efficient atomization of some high viscosity biofuels to yield maximum useful energy and minimise emissions is an area of research that has not been completely explored so far. As a result, liquid atomization has drawn a lot of attention among researchers over the past few years [2]. Though several different types of atomization processes are used in the industry, twin fluid atomization practices have been quite common and effective. Twin fluid atomization techniques can be broadly classified into Air Blast (AB) atomization, Effervescent Atomization (EA), and Flow Blurring (FB) atomization. Amongst these, FB atomization technique is a very recently developed concept that has demonstrated promising experimental results with high atomization efficiency. Researchers have conducted experiments to understand the process of atomization in a FB injector as well as the spray characteristics [2]. However, a computational model has not been developed so far to complement the outcomes from practical experiments. This project was aimed at gaining further in depth understanding of a FB injector ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Comparing Kripke s Naming And Necessity In Naming and Necessity , Philosopher Saul Kripke believes that there are some contingent truths that can be known a priori, or independent of experience. It is standard to believe that a priori truths coincide with necessary truths rather than with contingent. I will argue in agreeance with Kripke. There are cases in which contingent a priori truths exist. A priori knowledge is knowledge gained independent of experience. It is the knowledge that can be gained from learning the language, but without actual experience or need to consult the external world. For example, someone who knows that All bachelors are unmarried men does not need to experience being unmarried to defend this statement. By having knowledge of the language, one knows that, by definition, a bachelor is an unmarried man. By contrast, a posteriori propositions can only be known through experience of the external world. If I say that It is windy outside , then in order to understand this proposition I must have experience of the weather. A necessary truth is a truth that could not be false, where a contingent truth is one that could be false. If you could alter the universe in any possible way, the necessary truths will not change compared to the contingent truths. The typical way ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
