X-rays were discovered in 1895 by the German physicist Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen,
who earned the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1901. Although their potential applications
in medical imaging diagnosis were clear from the beginning, the implementation of
the first X-ray computed tomography system was made in 1972 by Godfrey Newbold
Hounsfield (Nobel prize winner in 1979 for Physiology and Medicine), who constructed
the prototype of the first medical CT scanner and is considered the father of computed
tomography. CT was introduced into clinical practice into 1971 with a scan of a cystic
frontal lobe tumor on a patient at Atkinson Morley Hospital in Wimbledon (United
Kingdom). After this, CT was immediately welcomed by the medical community and
has often been referred to as the most important invention in radiological diagnosis, since
the discovery of X-rays [1].
The first applications of CT in an industrial context is traced back to the first 1980´s, in the
field of non destructive testing, where small number of slices of the object were visually
inspected. 3D quantitative industrial CT applications appeared in the later 1990s, with
simple volume and distance analysis [2]. Today, thanks to relevant improvements in both
hardware and software, CT has become a powerful and widely used tool among non
destructive techniques, capable of inspecting external and internal structures (without
destroying them) in many industrial applications. Development of more and more stable
X-ray sources and better detectors led to design of more complex CT system, providing
accurate geometrical information with micrometer accuracy. CT is widely used for
geometrical characterization of test objects, material composition determination, density
variation inspection etc. In a relative short time, CT is capable to produce a complete
three-dimensional model and tolerances of the scanned machined parts can be verified.
Because of the growing interest on precision in production engineering and an increasing
demand for quality control and assurance, CT is leading the field of manufacturing
and coordinate metrology. With respect to traditional techniques, CT systems have indisputable advantages: internal and external geometry can be acquired without
destroying the part, with a density of information much higher than common tactile and
optical coordinate measuring. A key parameter for reliability of the measurement process
is the establishment of measuring uncertainty. Since there are many influence parameters
in CT, uncertainty contributors in CT and standards dealing with quantification of CT
have not been completely established yet. The assessment of the uncertainty budget
becomes a challenge for all researchers
This project targets the development of novel pocket X-ray sources and X-ray direct detectors that will be combined in a distributed network to solve important tasks, for example in the field of security, by ensuring reliable and real-time monitoring of failure sensitive parts in large manufacturing plants or in public transportation.
The miniaturized X-ray sources are based on multi-wall carbon nanotube (CNT) cold electron emitters and advanced microsystems technology. The electron field emission properties of CNTs, with their high current densities, make them prime candidates for cold emitter cathodes. Using CNT cold electron emitters will make it possible to miniaturize the whole X-ray source. Additionally, as opposed to classical thermionic emission, field electron emission of the CNT is voltage-controlled which allows for high modulation frequencies up to GHz level. The X-ray direct detectors in turn are based on crystalline germanium absorption layers grown directly on a CMOS sensor chip yielding high resolution and high sensitivity X-ray detectors. Single photon detection will allow for a significant improvement of contrast for applications in security, health care and nondestructive testing.
Determination of System Geometrical Parameters and Consistency between Scans ...David Scaduto
Digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) requires precise knowledge of acquisition geometry for accurate image reconstruction. Further, image subtraction techniques employed in dual-energy contrast-enhanced tomosynthesis require that scans be performed under nearly identical geometrical conditions. A geometrical calibration algorithm is developed to investigate system geometry and geometrical consistency of image acquisition between consecutive digital breast tomosynthesis scans, according to requirements for dual-energy contrast-enhanced tomosynthesis. Investigation of geometrical accuracy and consistency on a prototype DBT unit reveals accurate angular measurement, but potentially clinically significant differences in acquisition angles between scans. Further, a slight gantry wobble is observed, suggesting the need for incorporation of gantry wobble into image reconstruction, or improvements to system hardware.
Magneto Optic Current Transformer Technology (MOCT)IOSRJEEE
An accurate electric current transducer is a key component of any power system instrumentation. To measure currents power stations and substations conventionally employ inductive type current transformers .For high voltage applications, porcelain insulators and oil-impregnated materials have to be used to produce insulation between the primary bus and the secondary windings. The insulation structure has to be designed carefully to avoid electric field stresses, which could eventually cause insulation breakdown. The electric current path of the primary bus has to be designed properly to minimize the mechanical forces on the primary conductors for through faults. The reliability of conventional high-voltage current transformers have been questioned because of their violent destructive failures which caused fires and impact damage to adjacent apparatus in the switchyards, electric damage to relays, and power service disruptions. In addition to the concerns, with the computer control techniques and digital protection devices being introduced into power systems, the conventional current transformers have caused further difficulties, as they introduce electromagnetic interference through the ground loop into the digital systems. Magneto-optical current transformer(MOCT)technology provides a solution for many of the above mentioned problems. The MOCT measures the electric current by means of Faraday Effect that is the orientation of polarized light rotates under the influence of the magnetic fields and the rotation angle is proportional to the strength of the magnetic field component in the direction of optical path. MOCT is a passive optical current transducer which uses light to accurately measure current on high voltage systems and determines the rotation angle & converts it into a signal of few volts proportional to the current

Putting the SPARK into Virtual Training.pptxCynthia Clay
This 60-minute webinar, sponsored by Adobe, was delivered for the Training Mag Network. It explored the five elements of SPARK: Storytelling, Purpose, Action, Relationships, and Kudos. Knowing how to tell a well-structured story is key to building long-term memory. Stating a clear purpose that doesn't take away from the discovery learning process is critical. Ensuring that people move from theory to practical application is imperative. Creating strong social learning is the key to commitment and engagement. Validating and affirming participants' comments is the way to create a positive learning environment.

Understanding User Needs and Satisfying ThemAggregage

We know we want to create products which our customers find to be valuable. Whether we label it as customer-centric or product-led depends on how long we've been doing product management. There are three challenges we face when doing this. The obvious challenge is figuring out what our users need; the non-obvious challenges are in creating a shared understanding of those needs and in sensing if what we're doing is meeting those needs.
In this webinar, we won't focus on the research methods for discovering user-needs. We will focus on synthesis of the needs we discover, communication and alignment tools, and how we operationalize addressing those needs.
Industry expert Scott Sehlhorst will:
• Introduce a taxonomy for user goals with real world examples
• Present the Onion Diagram, a tool for contextualizing task-level goals
• Illustrate how customer journey maps capture activity-level and task-level goals
• Demonstrate the best approach to selection and prioritization of user-goals to address
• Highlight the crucial benchmarks, observable changes, in ensuring fulfillment of customer needs

Implicitly or explicitly all competing businesses employ a strategy to select a mix
of marketing resources. Formulating such competitive strategies fundamentally
involves recognizing relationships between elements of the marketing mix (e.g.,
price and product quality), as well as assessing competitive and market conditions
(i.e., industry structure in the language of economics).
In the Adani-Hindenburg case, what is SEBI investigating.pptxAdani case
Adani SEBI investigation revealed that the latter had sought information from five foreign jurisdictions concerning the holdings of the firm’s foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) in relation to the alleged violations of the MPS Regulations. Nevertheless, the economic interest of the twelve FPIs based in tax haven jurisdictions still needs to be determined. The Adani Group firms classed these FPIs as public shareholders. According to Hindenburg, FPIs were used to get around regulatory standards.
