This document discusses the transmission of AC power from offshore wind farms to onshore grids using low frequency AC transmission. Some key points:
1) Offshore wind farms generate power at medium voltage DC which is converted to low frequency AC (e.g. 20Hz) using cycloconverters for transmission through undersea cables.
2) At the receiving end, the low frequency AC is converted back to standard grid frequency AC using phase shift transformers before connecting to the onshore grid.
3) Low frequency AC transmission allows use of the same undersea cable designs as used for standard frequency but increases transmission capacity and distance. It provides an alternative to HVAC and HVDC transmission for medium length offshore connections.

Improved Control Strategy for Low Voltage Ride Through Capability of DFIG wit...ecij
This paper deals with a protection and control strategy to enhance the low voltage ride through capability of a wind turbine driven doubly fed induction generator (DFIG). As the wind power penetration continues to increase, wind turbines are required to provide Low Voltage Ride-Through (LVRT) capability. Crowbars are commonly used to protect the power converters during voltage dips and their main drawback is that the DFIG absorbs reactive power from the grid during grid faults. According to emergency grid code requirements, wind farms should have the ability to stay connected and continue generation under external voltage failure conditions, that is, wind turbines have to keep in connection with grid and own continue reactive power supply. This paper proposes a hysteresis current control strategy for the crowbar protection
and a reactive power control to satisfy the grid code requirements. Consequently, the dynamic model of double fed wind turbines is established to study the transient behavior of DFIG. Simulation results are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.

Power Quality Improvement of a Distributed Generation Power SystemIJERA Editor
The aim of this work is to improve the power quality for Distributed Generation (DG) with power storage system. Power
quality is the combination of voltage quality and current quality. Power quality is the set of limits of electrical properties that
allows electrical systems to function in their intended manner without significant loss of performance or life. The electrical
power quality is more concerned issue. The main problems are stationery and transient distortions in the line voltage such as
harmonics, flicker, swells, sags and voltage asymmetries. Distributed Generation (DG) also called as site generation, dispersed
generation, embedded generation, decentralized generation, decentralized energy or distributed energy, generates electricity
from the many small energy sources. In recent years, micro electric power systems such as photovoltaic generation systems,
wind generators and micro gas turbines, etc., have increased with the deregulation and liberalization of the power market.
Under such circumstances the environment surrounding the electric power industry has become ever more complicated and
provides high-quality power in a stable manner which becomes an important topic. Here DG is assumed to include Wind
power Generation (WG) and Fuel Cells (FC), etc. Advantages of this system are constant power supply, constant voltage
magnitude, absence of harmonics insupply voltage, un-interrupted power supply. In this project the electric power qualities in
two cases will be compared.
Case I: With the storage battery when it is introduced.
Case II: Without the storage battery.
The storage battery executes the control that maintains the voltage in the power system. It will be found that the Electric power
quality will be improved, when storage battery is introduced. The model system used in this Project work is composed of a
Wind Turbine, an Induction Generator, Fuel Cells, An Inverter and a Storage Battery. A miniature Wind Power Generator is
represented by WG. A fuel cell module is represented by FC. Transmission lines will be simulated by resistors and coils. The
combined length of the lines from synchronous generator to the load terminal is 1.5 km. This model will be simulated using

Design and Control of Micro Grid Fed by Renewable Energy Generating Sourcesijtsrd
This work presents a control of a micro grid at an isolated location fed from wind and solar based hybrid energy sources. The machine used for wind energy conversion is doubly fed induction generator DFIG and a battery bank is connected to a common DC bus of them. A solar photovoltaic PV array is used to convert solar power, which is evacuated at the common DC bus of DFIG using a DC DC boost converter in a cost effective way. The voltage and frequency are controlled through an indirect vector control of the line side converter, which is incorporated with drop characteristics. It alters the frequency set point based on the energy level of the battery, which slows down over charging or discharging of the battery. The system is also able to work when wind power source is unavailable. Both wind and solar energy blocks have maximum power point tracking MPPT in their control algorithm. Integration of a Wind Turbine Based Doubly Fed Induction Generator Using STAT...IJERA Editor
Wind power stations mostly placed in remote areas; so they are characterized by weak grids and are often submitted to power system disturbance like faults, voltage sag etc. In this paper the crowbar protection method is used to ride through voltage sags and STATCOM is used to quickly sense the voltage sag and overcome it. The behavior of these machines during grid failure is an important issue. DFIG consists of a common induction generator with slip ring and a partial scale power electronic converter. Indirect field oriented controller is applied to rotor side converter for active power control and voltage regulation of wind turbine. On grid side PQ control scheme is applied. Wind turbine and its control units are described in details and also for STATCOM control. All power system components are simulated in MATLAB/ SIMULINK software. For studying the performance of controller, different abnormal conditions are applied even the worst case. Simulation results prove that the performance of STATCOM and DFIG control schemes as improving power quality and stability of wind turbine.

Small scale generation by harnessing the wind energyeSAT Journals
Abstract Generating electricity from wind has been centered around the rotation rotating windmill in which rotating shaft coupled to the generator used to generate electricity. Other sources such as solar power hydropower, thermal power, wind power are used for generating electricity in kilo watts and megawatt but there is no such kind of application which can generate electricity on sub 100watt scale. So as to generate electricity on small scale and to provide cheap source of energy for lighting the houses in remote where there is no other sources are available. And to generate a power source that can be constructed with the help of local material and if problem occurs that can be fixed by the local people. About 2% of global electricity production comes from wind-powered generators. Their capacity has doubled in the past few years. In some countries it is more popular than solar energy because it is cheaper on a cost per watt basis. However, for powering small devices there has been minimal activity to harvest energy from the wind. This is because conventional electromagnetic wind turbines require rotating fins and gearing which adds bulk, and they become less efficient when scaled down. Key Words: Harnessing, Wind Energy, Rotating Shaft
STATCOM for Improved Dynamic Performance of Wind Farms in Power Grid IJMER
Application of FACTS controller called Static Synchronous Compensator STATCOM to
improve the performance of power grid with Wind Farms is investigated .The essential feature of the
STATCOM is that it has the ability to absorb or inject the reactive power with power grid. Therefore,
the voltage regulation of the power grid with STATCOM FACTS device is achieved. Moreover restoring
the stability of the power system having wind farm after occurring severe disturbance such as faults or
wind farm mechanical power variation is obtained with STATCOM controller. The dynamic model of
the power system having wind farm controlled by proposed STATCOM is developed. To validate the
powerful of the STATCOM FACTS controller, the studied power system is simulated and subjected to
different severe disturbances. The results prove the effectiveness of the proposed STATCOM controller
in terms of fast damping the power system oscillations and restoring the power system stability.

Immunizing Image Classifiers Against Localized Adversary Attacksgerogepatton
This paper addresses the vulnerability of deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks
(CNN)s, to adversarial attacks and presents a proactive training technique designed to counter them. We
introduce a novel volumization algorithm, which transforms 2D images into 3D volumetric representations.
When combined with 3D convolution and deep curriculum learning optimization (CLO), itsignificantly improves
the immunity of models against localized universal attacks by up to 40%. We evaluate our proposed approach
using contemporary CNN architectures and the modified Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR-10
and CIFAR-100) and ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC12) datasets, showcasing
accuracy improvements over previous techniques. The results indicate that the combination of the volumetric
input and curriculum learning holds significant promise for mitigating adversarial attacks without necessitating
adversary training.
