This document summarizes research on the synthesis and analysis of a novel biodegradable carbohydrate-based polymer and its application in liquid laundry detergent formulation. Key points:
1) A polymer was synthesized from liquid glucose, citric acid, borax, and other ingredients. Its properties like viscosity, surface tension, and biodegradability were analyzed.
2) The polymer was found to be biodegradable based on a BOD/COD ratio of 0.6944 from biodegradation testing.

A study has been carried out on aerobic biological treatment of a bulk drug industrial effluent which is highly acidic in nature and shows high value of BOD5 (≈ 36000 mg/l), COD (≈ 84000 mg/l). About 99% removal of COD from starting value of around 8000 mg/l has been achieved. The COD value in different hydraulic retention time (HRT) has been brought down to less than 100 mg/l in treated effluent, showing high removal of dissolved organics by aerobic biological treatment.

Abstract Jaggery industry is a cottage industry in India. In today’s world liquid jaggery has been gaining a much importance due to its nutritional value. Studies were conducted to investigate the parameters affecting shelf life such pH, colour, brix , moisture content and range of temperatures on the concentration of reducing sugars. The variety Co86032 was selected to observe the effect of storage period on quality characteristics of liquid jaggery. Samples were stored at three different conditions i.e. room temperature(27°C), refrigeration (7°C) and high temperature (37°C) in pre-sterilized PET bottles for 90 days .In order to optimize the changes in properties physico-chemical tests were evaluated during storage. The pH decreased significantly, whereas, moisture content and reducing sugar increased significantly during storage. The changes in different attributes were significantly higher at 37°C temperature as compared to room temperature and refrigeration temperature. The results revealed that change in chemical composition was lower in case of refrigerated sample. Refrigerated sample was found more acceptable among other two samples after storage period of three months in terms of its chemical properties. Abstract Paper mill is one of the major sources of pollution causing industry with intensely coloured effluent. The effluent is rich in lignocellulosic materials and other chemicals used during manufacturing which results in high Bio-chemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) and Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD). Due to its high toxic and mutagenic nature when discharged untreated there is a growing demand to treat the effluent before discharge. Biological treatment is a promising technique as it greatly reduces colour, BOD and COD. Various fungal and bacterial species are capable of degrading the lignocellulosic materials present in the effluent. In the present study characterization of the paper mill effluent and identification of the degradation efficiency of lignin degrading fungal species - Pleurotus species and Rhizopus stolonifer and bacterial species – Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Bacillus subtilis in laboratory scale was done. Here sequential anaerobic and aerobic treatment was carried out in two bio-reactors in series. The study indicated that anaerobic treatment gave a reduction of colour (18%), lignin (25%), COD (36%), BOD (28%) in 5days. The anaerobically treated effluent was then separately given to the aerobic reactors containing the fungal and bacterial species. Data obtained indicated that the Rhizopus showed good reduction in colour (71%), lignin (77%), COD (68%) and BOD (70%) in 5days whereas Pleurotus, Pseudomonas and Bacillus species showed reduction in colour (68%, 31%, 18%), lignin (64%, 43%, 44%), COD (58%, 42%, 43%) and BOD (60%, 40%, 42%) respectively in 5days. Three distinct agricultural waste materials, viz., casuarina fruit powder (CFP), sorghum stem powder
(SSP), and banana stem powder (BSP) were used as low-cost adsorbents for the removal of toxic lead(II)
from aqueous solutions. Acid treated adsorbents were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM),
energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The
effects of parameters like adsorbent dose, pH, temperature, initial metal ion concentration, and time of
adsorption on the removal of Pb(II) were analyzed for each adsorbent individually and the efficiency order
was BSP > SSP > CFP. Based on the extent of compatibility to Freundlich/Langmuir/Dubinin–Radushkevich/
Temkin adsorption isotherms and different models (pseudo-first and second order, Boyd, Weber’s, and
Elovich), chemisorption primarily involved in the case of BSP and SSP, whereas simultaneous occurrence of
chemisorption and physisorption was proposed in the case of CFP correlating with the thermodynamic study
results conducted at different temperatures. Based on the observations, it was proposed that three kinetic
stages involve in the adsorption process, viz., diffusion of sorbate to sorbent, intra particle diffusion, and then
establishment of equilibrium. These adsorbents have a promising role towards the removal of Pb(II) from
industrial wastewater to contribute environmental protection
Optimization of Na-Alginate Immobilization Method for Sulfide Oxidation Using...Premier Publishers
The study was aimed to investigate the optimization of Na-alginate immobilization method for biological sulfide oxidation process using an immobilized Thiobacillus species and the effects of four factors including Na-alginate concentration, CaCl2 concentration, agitation speed and amount of inoculum on sulfide conversion. The strength of sodium-alginate immobilization method for Thiobacillus species was evaluated. For this purpose, experiments were designed by a central composite design (CCD) and results were optimized by using response surface methodology (RSM). Design of experiments (DOE) was used to model and optimize the operational conditions. The central composite design (CCD) was very good for the optimization of variables; the R2 value for the developed model was 0.91. The results and analysis showed the optimized values for the sulfide oxidation. 95% Sulfide oxidation was achieved with optimized values. Beside this a useful by- product was produced from waste effluents.

Abstract— Algae are gaining broad consideration as a substitute renewable source of biomass for the manufacture of bioethanol, due to this reason categorized under the “third generation biofuels” .İn this work, GC-MS analysis and FTIR has been done of bio-oil obtained from fast pyrolysis of Freshwater Algae( Spirogyra ) in this paper we have shown a simple process of converting biomass of fresh water algae to bio-oil through pyrolysis and explained it with the help of graphs and tables. Pyrolysis is a thermal process for converting various biomasses , residues and wastes to produce high-energy-density fuels (bio-oil, biochar). The bio-oil was obtained in two step pyrolysis in which temperature of the system kept 25ºC and then increased up to 650ºC time by time. After pyrolysis these fractions were analyzed by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and FTIR which show different peaks and data of different compounds and functional groups present in this bio-oil

Performance evaluation of Effluent Treatment Plant of Dairy IndustryIJERA Editor

is one of the major industries causing water pollution. Considering the increased milk demand, the dairy
industry in India is expected to grow rapidly and have the waste generation and related environmental problems
are also assumed increased importance. Poorly treated wastewater with high level of pollutants caused by poor
design, operation or treatment systems creates major environmental problems when discharged to the surface
land or water. Various operations in a dairy industry may include pasteurization, cream, cheese, milk powder
etc. Considering the above stated implications an attempt has been made in the present project to evaluate one of
the Effluent Treatment Plant for dairy waste. Samples are collected from three points; Collection tank (CT),
primary clarifier (PC) and Secondary clarifier (SC) to evaluate the performance of Effluent Treatment Plant.
Parameters analyzed for evaluation of performance of Effluent Treatment Plant are pH, TDS, TSS, COD, and
BOD at 200C The pH, TDS, TSS, COD and BOD removal efficiency of Effluent Treatment Plant were 26.14 %,
33.30 %, 93.85 %, 94.19 % and 98.19 % respectively.

Abstract The present study is focused on a Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) located at Umaraya, District Baroda. Waste water from about thirty five small and medium scale industries majorly comprising of chemical manufacturing and pharmaceutical industries are treated in this CETP. The incoming wastewater was collected and mixed to prepare samples. They were then oxidized by Fenton’s reagent (Fe2+/H2O2) reduction in COD and BOD were observed at different H2O2 and FeSO4 doses to determine the optimum values. Thereafter pretreated wastewater was subjected to filtration with ordinary charcoal and COD and BOD reductions were noted.COD and BOD reduction of 64.35% and 68.57% respectively was achieved by Fenton’s reagent and after filtration the values were well within the disposal standards. The results clearly indicate that conventional system should be replaced by physicochemical process like oxidation and filtration. Hierarchical Digital Twin of a Naval Power SystemKerry Sado
A hierarchical digital twin of a Naval DC power system has been developed and experimentally verified. Similar to other state-of-the-art digital twins, this technology creates a digital replica of the physical system executed in real-time or faster, which can modify hardware controls. However, its advantage stems from distributing computational efforts by utilizing a hierarchical structure composed of lower-level digital twin blocks and a higher-level system digital twin. Each digital twin block is associated with a physical subsystem of the hardware and communicates with a singular system digital twin, which creates a system-level response. By extracting information from each level of the hierarchy, power system controls of the hardware were reconfigured autonomously. This hierarchical digital twin development offers several advantages over other digital twins, particularly in the field of naval power systems. The hierarchical structure allows for greater computational efficiency and scalability while the ability to autonomously reconfigure hardware controls offers increased flexibility and responsiveness. The hierarchical decomposition and models utilized were well aligned with the physical twin, as indicated by the maximum deviations between the developed digital twin hierarchy and the hardware.
