  • 5. 5 Association of Civil Engineers (Practicing) ACEP Chh. Sambhajinagar Better Environment, Better Tomorrow. Future of Construction: Embracing AI, Robotics, and IoT Er. Parimal Marathe (PMC Consultant) Revolutionising Design and Project Management with AI AI technologies are making substantial inroads into construction through automated design and enhanced project management. Platforms like Spacemaker AI enable architects to quickly generate design alternatives that optimize for both regulatory constraints and environmental impact. On the project management front, Alice Technologies uses AI to simulate various construction scenarios, helping managers to optimise resource allocation and project timelines. Such capabilities reduce wastage, prevent delays, and ensure budget adherence. Advancements in Robotic Construction Robotics are streamlining traditional construction processes, automating tasks ranging from material handling to complex assembly operations. Robots, like the semi-automated mason SAM100, increase productivity while alleviating the physical strain on human workers. Moreover, companies such as Built Robotics are pushing the boundaries with autonomous heavy equipment capable of executing excavation and grading with precision. Enhancing On-Site Efficiency and Safety with IoT IoT technologies are critical in real-time monitoring and safety enhancement on construction sites. Smart sensors, such as those provided by Trimble, monitor structural health and environmental conditions, offering data-driven insights that prevent hazardous incidents and structural failures. IoT devices integrated into wearables also monitor worker health metrics, significantly enhancing on-site safety protocols. Driving Sustainability in Construction AI contributes to sustainable construction by optimising designs for energy efficiency and suggesting sustainable materials. IoT technologies facilitate the creation of smart buildings with systems that dynamically manage energy consumption based on real-time data. Such integrations not only promote energy efficiency but also reduce the carbon footprint of construction activities. Prefabrication and Modular Construction In prefabrication, robotics ensures high precision in manufacturing building components, which are then assembled on-site, reducing waste and improving construction speed. AI optimises the logistics of transporting these prefabricated parts, coordinating delivery to match site readiness, which minimises holding costs and streamlines the assembly process. Site Security Through Advanced Technology AI-enhanced surveillance systems monitor construction sites continuously, using IoT-enabled cameras and drones to prevent theft and ensure secure perimeters. These systems can detect and analyse movements or unauthorised access automatically, providing alerts to prevent potential security breaches. Conclusion The convergence of AI, robotics, and IoT is setting a new standard in the construction industry. These technologies are not only solving traditional challenges but are also creating new opportunities for efficiency and innovation. As the industry evolves, embracing these technologies will be crucial for firms aiming to remain competitive and responsive to the increasing demands for faster, safer, and more sustainable construction practices. The future of construction is here, and it is being built on the foundations of advanced technology. This comprehensive look showcases the potential of these cutting-edge technologies to fundamentally alter every aspect of the construction industry, promising a future where digital and physical construction processes are seamlessly integrated for optimal performance. The construction industry, poised to exceed a market size of $1 trillion by 2025, is undergoing a significant transformation driven by rapid technological advancements. The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI), robotics, and the Internet of Things (IoT) is not only addressing current challenges such as labor shortages and efficiency but is also paving the way for innovative practices that enhance safety, sustainability, and overall project management.

Organizations that adopt BPMS will be better equipped to navigate the complexities of building plan management and achieve their project goals more effectively. Introduction The construction industry is characterized by complex, multifaceted processes that require careful planning, coordination, and regulatory compliance. A Building Plan Management System (BPMS) is designed to streamline these processes, ensuring that building plans are managed efficiently from inception to approval. This article divided into the components, benefits, and future trends of BPMS, highlighting its importance in the construction industry. What is a Building Plan Management System? A Building Plan Management System (BPMS) is combination of web portal and a software TP-Client providing solution that facilitates the management, submission, review, and approval of building plans. It automates and centralizes the workflow involved in handling building permit applications, ensuring compliance with UDCPR (Unified Development Control and Promotion Regulations). Core Components of BPMS 1. Online Application for Approvals: Allows architects, engineers, and developers to submit building plans digitally on BPMS Portal. This component supports various file formats and ensures that all required documentation is included. 2. Automated Review Workflow: Once plans are submitted, the BPMS automates the review process by routing documents to the appropriate departments and officials. This workflow includes automatic notifications and reminders to ensure timely reviews. 3. Regulatory Compliance Checks: BPMS integrates with local building codes and regulations, automatically checking submitted plans for compliance. This feature reduces errors and omissions, expediting the approval process. 4. Collaboration Tools: Provides a platform for communication and collaboration between all stakeholders, including applicants, engineers/architects , and regulatory bodies. Features include document sharing, real-time annotations, and discussion forums. 5. Status Tracking and Reporting: Offers real-time tracking of the plan review status, allowing applicants to monitor progress and receive updates. Reporting tools provide insights into review times, approval rates, and other key metrics. 6. Archive and Retrieval: Ensures that all submitted plans and related documents are securely stored and easily retrievable for future reference or audits.
