This document presents a study on the free vibration characteristics of cantilever beams through modal testing and analysis. The study involved determining natural frequencies theoretically using Euler-Bernoulli's equation, numerically using ANSYS software, and experimentally using modal analysis testing. Testing was conducted on aluminum and steel cantilever beams of varying aspect ratios. The results found that natural frequency decreases as aspect ratio increases and is inversely proportional. Frequency values obtained from numerical analysis were slightly higher than theoretical and experimental values, but all results showed good agreement. The study provides valuable information for engineers in vibration analysis and design applications.
In this study Dynamic property of a structural element which is frequency, damping and mode shapes are described by a process called modal analysis. Structural condition can be monitored by analyzing the changes in frequencies and mode shapes. All materials posses certain amount of internal damping. Similarly steel fibers also produce some internal damping. A system is a combination of elements, for example a structure is a system whose elements are beams, columns, slabs, footings .etc. In all those elements I have selected beam elements. Many research works are conducted on different type of materials under dynamic loading.
Detection of crack location and depth in a cantilever beam by vibration measu...eSAT Journals
Abstract The presence of a crack is hazardous problem in the performance of many structures and it affects many of the vibration parameters like Natural frequency and mode shapes. Current research has focused on using different modal parameters like natural frequency, mode shape and damping to detect crack in beams. This work concentrates on the parameters like Deflection of a beam, Bending moment and behaviour of stresses. In this work, simulation is carried out by using analysis software ANSYS to find the change in natural frequencies as well as mode shapes for the cracked and uncracked beam. It is then verified by the results obtained from ANN controller and Genetic Algorithm. ANN is used to determine location of crack and its depth along with directions of propagation and Natural frequencies and corresponding mode shapes difference as initial input to calculate the variation and the vibration parameters. The output from ANN controller is corresponding depth and crack location. outputs from numerical analysis are compared with output from Experimentation and they have good resemblance to the results predicted by the ANN controller. Genetic algorithm is an evolutionary type of algorithm which generates the optimized solution to the problems. It is an iterative process to reach to the final solution. By using this, same results are found and related with the results of ANN. And finally the results are compared to find the most appropriate approach amongst the two methods. When a ductile material with a crack is loaded in
tension, the deformation energy builds up around the crack tip
and it is understood that at a certain critical condition voids are
formed ahead of the crack tip. The crack extension occurs by
coalescence of voids with the crack tip. The “characteristic
distance” (Lc) defined as the distance b/w the crack tip & the void
responsible for eventual coalescence with the crack tip. Nucleation
of these voids is generally associated with the presence of second
phase particles or grain boundaries in the vicinity of the crack tip.
Although approximate, Lc assumes a special significance since it
links the fracture toughness to the microscopic mechanism
considered responsible for ductile fracture. The knowledge of the
“characteristic distance” is also crucial for designing the size of
mesh in the finite element simulations of material crack growth
using damage mechanics principles. There is not much work
(experimental as well as numerical) available in the literature
related to the dependency of “characteristic distance” on the
fracture specimen geometry. The present research work is an
attempt to understand numerically, the geometry dependency of
“characteristic distance” using three-dimensional FEM analysis.
The variation of “characteristic distance” parameter due to the
change of temperature across the fracture specimen thickness was
also studied. The work also studied the variation of “characteristic
distance”, due to the change in fracture specimen thickness.
Finally, the ASTM requirement of fracture specimen thickness
criteria is evaluated for the “characteristic distance” fracture
parameter. “Characteristic distance” is found to vary across the
fracture specimen thickness. It is dependent on fracture specimen
thickness and it converges after a specified thickness of fracture
specimen. “Characteristic distance” value is also dependent on the
temperature of ductile material. In Armco iron material, it is
found to decrease with the increase in temperature.
Fatigue Iife analysis of Aluminum Alloy Sheet Underrandom VibrationIJRESJOURNAL
ABSTRACT: Based on the analysis method of structural vibration fatigue life, the fatigue failure of an aluminum alloy sheet subjected to random vibration load is studied by using finite element analysis software. By using the finite element software of sheet strength and the first six modes are analyzed, which shows that the model meets the engineering requirements; secondly, the vibration fatigue life in frequency domain method Dirlik rain flow distribution model based on the Dirlik formula of fatigue damage and fatigue life of the plates is studied and estimated. The results show that the thin plate satisfies the demand of life under random vibration.
Crack in component if undetected may lead to catastrophic failure of the component. The
cracked rotor problem received the first attention in 1970 and after that the interest among the
researchers started. The vibration behavior of cracked structures, in particular cracked rotors, is
important to study as the introduction of the crack alters the vibration characteristics of the structure.
The problem of damage and crack detection in structural components has acquired important role in past
few years. However, cracked rotor studies are mainly deals with single crack. For multiple cracked
structures the problem of crack sizing and location becomes more complex. Only few authors have
pointed out the multiple crack assessment in the rotor. The proposed work is on vibration analysis of
multiple cracked shaft beam. An Euler Bernoulli beam fixed at one end with two transverse cracks is
considered. The vibration characteristics of the shaft are studied using Experimental Modal Analysis and
Finite Element Analysis. The mode shapes and natural frequencies of the beams are studied and their
variation with change in position and depth of the crack is also studied. The study shows good agreement
of the results obtained using Finite Element Analysis and Experimental Modal Analysis.

This paper addresses the fracture toughness ( ), or also known as critical stress intensity Factor, according to
conditions of Lineal Elastic Fracture Mechanics (LEFM). The characterization of the mechanical properties in
tensile and fracture toughness of structural steel pipes API-5L used in hydrocarbons transportation was
performed. For fracture toughness, the material was tested through fatigue crack propagation on standardized
compact specimen (CT) according to ASTM E-399 norm. A thickness (B) equal to and a crack size (a) equal
to 0.5w were used. With the porpoise of establishing the adequate conditions at the crack tip, the specimens were
subjected to fatigue pre-cracking by application of repeated cycles of load in tensile-tensile and constant load
amplitude with a load ratio of R = 0.1. The experimental Compliance method was used based on data obtained
from load vs. Crack Mouth Opening Displacement (CMOD). The results show a Stress Intensity factor of 35.88
MPa√m for a 25 mm crack size specimen. The device used for testing is a MTS-810 machine with capacity of
100KN and 6 kHz sampling rate, which meets the conditions of the ASTM E-399 standard. The cracking
susceptibility of steel is influenced by the size, morphology and distribution of non-metallic inclusions,
thermochemical interaction with the environment and microstructure.
Analysis of Functionally Graded Material Plate under Transverse Load for Vari...IOSR Journals
Functionally gradient materials (FGM) are one of the most widely used materials in various
applications because of their adaptability to different situations by changing the material constituents as per the
requirement. Most structural components used in the field of engineering can be classified as beams, plates, or
shells for analysis purposes. In the present study the power law, sigmoid and exponential distribution is
considered for the volume fraction distributions of the functionally graded plates. The work includes parametric
studies performed by varying volume fraction distributions and boundary conditions. Also static analysis of
functionally gradient material plate is carried out by sigmoid law and verified with the published results. The
convergence study of the results is optimized by changing the mesh size and layer size. Power law and
exponential law are applied for the same material and set of conditions.
Material Parameter and Effect of Thermal Load on Functionally Graded CylindersIJMER
The present study investigates the creep in a thick-walled composite cylinders made
up of aluminum/aluminum alloy matrix and reinforced with silicon carbide particles. The distribution
of SiCp is assumed to be either uniform or decreasing linearly from the inner to the outer radius of
the cylinder. The creep behavior of the cylinder has been described by threshold stress based creep
law with a stress exponent of 5. The composite cylinders are subjected to internal pressure which is
applied gradually and steady state condition of stress is assumed. The creep parameters required to
be used in creep law, are extracted by conducting regression analysis on the available experimental
results. The mathematical models have been developed to describe steady state creep in the composite
cylinder by using von-Mises criterion. Regression analysis is used to obtain the creep parameters
required in the study. The basic equilibrium equation of the cylinder and other constitutive equations
have been solved to obtain creep stresses in the cylinder. The effect of varying particle size, particle
content and temperature on the stresses in the composite cylinder has been analyzed. The study
revealed that the stress distributions in the cylinder do not vary significantly for various combinations
of particle size, particle content and operating temperature except for slight variation observed for
varying particle content. Functionally Graded Materials (FGMs) emerged and led to the development
of superior heat resistant materials.

Abstract: The Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) has gained wide acceptance in the recent years as a means to monitor a structure and provide an early warning of an unsafe condition using real time data. Many researchers have shown that, Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) composite leaf springs can be successfully used for suspension systems. This paper emphasizes on developing the SHM system for E-Glass/Epoxy FRP composite leaf springs based on strain sensing.
Estimating damping in structure made of different m aterials (steel, brass, aluminum) and processes sti ll remains as one of the biggest challengers. All mate rials posses certain amount of internal damping,wh ich manifested as dissipation of energy from the system . This energy in a vibratory system is either dissipated into heat or radiated away from the syst em. Material damping or internal damping contribute s to about 10-15% of total system damping. Cantilever beams of required size & shape are prepared for experimental purpose & damping ratio is investigate d. Damping ratio is determined by half-power bandwidth method. It is observed that damping ratio is higher for steel than brass than aluminum.

buckling analysis of cantilever pultruded I-sections using 𝐴𝑁𝑆𝑌𝑆 ®IJARIIE JOURNAL
For steel beam buckling analysis is a critical area of study to determine overall section capacity subjected to
bending. Pultruded I-beams are manufactured using fiber and matrix composite lamina hence is usually orthotropic
compared to conventional steel I-beams. Many researchers have studied the buckling characteristics of simply
supported pultruded FRP beams for various types of loadings. In this paper an attempt has been made to study the
buckling characteristics of cantilever beam subjected to point load at free end for WF(wide flange) & NF(narrow

empirical formulae and iterative procedures.
Effect of hyper elastic property on dynamic behaviour of IC EngineIJSRD
In this paper, concept of vibration absorber is discussed with its hyperelastic properties. Rubber pads are inserted between IC Engine and foundation. IC Engine with and without rubber pads are dynamically analysed using FEA software. Both modal and harmonic analysis are performed. The FRFs of two systems are compared for their vibration reduction. Natural frequencies and mode shapes are obtained by modal analysis whereas FRF is obtained by harmonic analysis in FEA software.
For aircraft or launch vehicles, its carrying capacity is defined as a Payload. It is usually measured in weights. For a rocket, payload can be satellite or scientific instruments. The design of the payload is a challenging task as it has to withstand space environment and launch loads. Due to launch vibrations, there are possibilities of failure of design of payload so it is very important to reduce these vibrations by alternative techniques.
This paper studies the effect of different materials on the natural frequency of payload which helps in the reduction of the natural frequency of the payload and for safe functioning of satellite.
Behavior of RC Beams Retrofitted/Strengthened With External Post-Tension SystemINFOGAIN PUBLICATION
This paper presents a study on the flexural behavior of strengthened RC beams using external post-tensioning technique under the effect of cyclic loads. Post tensioning techniques is a new method to improve the behavior of cracked and sound beams. This new technique was used in this research to improve the behavior of cracked and un-cracked beams. The study consists of two stages, the first stage is an experimental program which is carried out in lap to test casted beams, and the second stage is a theoretical program which was carried out to verify the results of experimental program. The behavior of RC beams in different levels of cracks was studied, crack pattern was observed and failure type was recorded. Comparisons between the behaviors of different RC beams were performed. The experimental study included using of prestressing steel bars, GFRP bars and the effect of different percentage of shear reinforcement was also taken into consideration. Specimens were tested under the effect of cyclic load. Finally the simulations of tested beams were modeled in finite element software (ANSYS) to verify the results of experimental work compared to theoretical analysis.

Water billing management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
Our project entitled “Water Billing Management System” aims is to generate Water bill with all the charges and penalty. Manual system that is employed is extremely laborious and quite inadequate. It only makes the process more difficult and hard.
The aim of our project is to develop a system that is meant to partially computerize the work performed in the Water Board like generating monthly Water bill, record of consuming unit of water, store record of the customer and previous unpaid record.
We used HTML/PHP as front end and MYSQL as back end for developing our project. HTML is primarily a visual design environment. We can create a android application by designing the form and that make up the user interface. Adding android application code to the form and the objects such as buttons and text boxes on them and adding any required support code in additional modular.

A review on techniques and modelling methodologies used for checking electrom...nooriasukmaningtyas
The proper function of the integrated circuit (IC) in an inhibiting electromagnetic environment has always been a serious concern throughout the decades of revolution in the world of electronics, from disjunct devices to today’s integrated circuit technology, where billions of transistors are combined on a single chip. The automotive industry and smart vehicles in particular, are confronting design issues such as being prone to electromagnetic interference (EMI). Electronic control devices calculate incorrect outputs because of EMI and sensors give misleading values which can prove fatal in case of automotives. In this paper, the authors have non exhaustively tried to review research work concerned with the investigation of EMI in ICs and prediction of this EMI using various modelling methodologies and measurement setups.

Harnessing WebAssembly for Real-time Stateless Streaming PipelinesChristina Lin
Traditionally, dealing with real-time data pipelines has involved significant overhead, even for straightforward tasks like data transformation or masking. However, in this talk, we’ll venture into the dynamic realm of WebAssembly (WASM) and discover how it can revolutionize the creation of stateless streaming pipelines within a Kafka (Redpanda) broker. These pipelines are adept at managing low-latency, high-data-volume scenarios.
