This document describes a hybrid reactive power control model using a parallel combination of a thyristor controlled reactor (TCR) and thyristor switched capacitor (TSC). The TSC-TCR combination provides continuous reactive power control from capacitive to inductive values by varying the thyristor firing angle through a microcontroller. It aims to improve power factor and regulate voltage for transmission lines. Simulation and hardware results show that the TSC-TCR is able to compensate reactive power and maintain voltage for both resistive and inductive loads. The hybrid model offers benefits like continuous control range, low harmonics generation, and flexibility in operation over individual TSC or TCR configurations.
