Static Analysis of Go-Kart Chassis by Analytical and Solid Works SimulationIJMER
This paper aims to do modelling, simulation and performing the static analysis of a go
kart chassis consisting of Circular beams. Modelling, simulations and analysis are performed using 3-D
modelling software i.e. Solid Works and ANSYS according to the rulebook provided by Indian Society of
New Era Engineers (ISNEE) for National Go Kart Championship (NGKC-14).The maximum deflection is
determined by performing static analysis. Computed results are then compared to analytical calculation,
where it is found that the location of maximum deflection agrees well with theoretical approximation but
varies on magnitude aspect.
The present work is focused on understanding the uplift capacity of vertical and inclined piles passing through two layered soil and subjected to the inclined loads. The study was carried out using finite element software MIDAS 3D. The foundation soil was modeled as an elasto-plastic material
obeying the Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion. The parametric studies were performed by varying the diameter of pile, angle of inclination of load (α) and pile angle (θ). It was observed that the uplift capacity of pile depends upon these parameters. The uplift capacity of pile varies with inclination of pile angle and inclination of load.

In a multi-storied building, the beam-column joint is one of the most critical regions. Usually the beam-column joint was considered as rigid frames. Various researchers over the past years indicated that the joint is not rigid. Now it is also stated that instead of the failure in beam and column, failure can also occur in joint hence joint must be considered as a structural member. The Indian standards define a joint as the portion of the column within the depth of the deepest beam that frames into the column. In framed structures the bending moment and shear forces are maximum at the junction area. So, beam column joint is one of the failure zones. Among the beam column joints, the exterior joint is more critical. The exterior beam column joint have been a study for about 30 years since now. Still there are many more to be understood. In the present work a building is designed in STAAD. Pro V8i and an exterior beam column joint is considered. This joint is modelled in NX CAD and imported to ANSYS to analyse it to derive the shear stress and the corresponding deformation. Finite element analysis and parametric study of curved concrete box girder us...eSAT Journals
Abstract The horizontally curved bridges are becoming the norm of highway interchanges and urban expressways as a result of complicated geometrics, limited rights of way, and traffic mitigation. This type of superstructure has gained popularity because it addresses the needs of transportation engineering. A study of box girder curved in plan with rectangular cross-section has been carried out in the present investigation. The finite element software ABAQUS is used to carryout analysis of these box girders. The analysis is carried out for the dead load, super imposed dead load and live load of IRC Class A loading. The paper presents a parametric study of curved box girders by varying span and radius of curvature and by keeping the span to depth ratio constant. The parametric investigations performed on curved box girders helps to evaluate the effects of different parameters on the behavior of the girder. This study would enable bridge engineers to better understand the behavior of curved concrete box girders. Key Words: Curved concrete box girder, ABAQUS
SEISMIC RESPONSE OF UNSYMMETRIC BUILDING WITH OPTIMALLY PLACED FRICTION DAMPERSIAEME Publication
Conventional methods of seismic rehabilitation with concrete shear walls or steel bracing
are not considered suitable for some buildings as upgrades with these methods would have
required expensive and time consuming foundation work. Supplemental damping in
conjunction with appropriate stiffness offers an innovative and attractive solution for the
seismic rehabilitation of such structures. This paper deals with the use of friction damper as a
passive dissipative device in order to seismic retrofit of existing structures and discusses the
optimal placement criteria. To fulfill this objective, six storey and ten storey L-shaped
buildings have been modeled with five different damper location formats in SAP2000 subjected
to El Centro and Utterkashi earthquake records. Non-Linear Modal Time History Method has
been used for the analysis and base shear, joint displacement, member forces and hysteresis
energy has been compared to find out most optimal damper location format.
Assessment of seismic damage of multistory structures using fragility curvesIJERA Editor
Performance-based design, PBD, is gaining popularity and its concept hasbeen applied in many international
seismic building codes. In this research, five real structures designed according to the Egyptian Building Code,
which does not consider PBD, are considered and modeled in a three dimensional way using the software
SeismoStruct in order to assess their performance under expected earthquakes. The structures are 2-story, 4-
story, 6-story, 8-story and 10-story reinforced concrete framed structures. The structural system of these
structures is of the moment-resisting frame type, with and without shear walls. The structures weredesigned
under dead, live and seismic forces of “Zone 3” with a design acceleration of 0.15g.The models were analyzed
using incremental dynamic analysis, IDA, considering 12 real records of historical earthquakes. IDA curves
were developed for all analyzed models, considering four damage states. Fragility curves were subsequently
developed to provide an overview of the expected seismic performance of a typical low or mid-rise multistory
reinforced concrete framed structure in Egypt as designed in accordance with thecurrent Egyptian Building
Code.
The essential of car wheel rim is to provide a firm base on which to fit the tyre. Its dimensions, shape should be
suitable to adequately accommodate the particular tyre required for the vehicle. In this project a tyre of car
wheel rim belonging to the disc wheel category is considered. Design is an important industrial activity which
influences the quality of the product. The wheel rim is modeled by using modeling software catiav5r17. By
using this software the time spent in producing the complex 3- D models and the risk involved in the design and
manufacturing process can be easily minimized. So the modeling of the wheel rim is made by using CATIA.
Later this CATIA modal is imported to ANSYS WORKBENCH 14.5 for analysis work. ANSYS
WORKBENCH 14.5 is the latest software used for simulating the different forces, pressure acting on the
component and also calculating and viewing the results. By using ANSYS WORKBENCH 14.5 software
reduces the time compared with the method of mathematical calculations by a human. ANSYS WORKBENCH
14.5 static structural analysis work is carried out by considered three different materials namely aluminum alloy
,magnesium alloy and structural steel and their relative performances have been observed respectively. In
addition to wheel rim is subjected to modal analysis, a part of dynamic analysis is carried out its performance is
observed. In this analysis by observing the results of both static and dynamic analysis obtained magnesium alloy
is suggested as best material.
Behavior of plan irregularites using composite members by varying column spac...eSAT Journals
Abstract
Several studies proofs that the weaker columns has low seismic resistance, for this it is need to make the column stronger. The stronger columns can be obtained by many ways, here in this paper steel-concrete composite columns are considered. Use of composite columns in construction reduces the cross-section of the columns throughout the building and also increases the lateral-load resisting capacity to columns. The models consists of G+10, G+15, G+20 stories of Rectangular, L, T and plus shaped structures in which column spacing are varied as 3m, 4m, 5m and 6m along both directions in all structures. For all models the composite-column of size 450x450mm (ISMB 250) is kept constant, only the beam size has been varied accordingly while modeling a structure. The Response Spectrum analysis is done for all the buildings using ETABS version 15. Study is based on the performance of a multi-story building with plan irregularity under major earthquake forces by considering parameters like displacement, storey shear and drifts. Even though the cross section of the column considered is very small for tall buildings, the structure behaves stiff for severe seismic zone-V and also for different conditions; this is done by introducing steel-concrete composite column in a given building. Hence it is concluded that the use of composite columns in construction resists the lateral forces for many vulnerable conditions.

Immunizing Image Classifiers Against Localized Adversary Attacksgerogepatton
This paper addresses the vulnerability of deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks
(CNN)s, to adversarial attacks and presents a proactive training technique designed to counter them. We
introduce a novel volumization algorithm, which transforms 2D images into 3D volumetric representations.
When combined with 3D convolution and deep curriculum learning optimization (CLO), itsignificantly improves
the immunity of models against localized universal attacks by up to 40%. We evaluate our proposed approach
using contemporary CNN architectures and the modified Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR-10
and CIFAR-100) and ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC12) datasets, showcasing
accuracy improvements over previous techniques. The results indicate that the combination of the volumetric
input and curriculum learning holds significant promise for mitigating adversarial attacks without necessitating
adversary training.
