This document discusses techniques for detecting and classifying breast cancer from mammogram images. It begins with an introduction to breast cancer and the importance of early detection using mammography. The proposed system utilizes the MIAS mammogram dataset and performs preprocessing, segmentation, feature extraction using texture analysis, and classification using multilayer perceptron. K-fold cross validation is used to evaluate the model. The goal is to develop an automated system for mammogram analysis to improve early detection of breast cancer.
Feature Selection Mammogram based on Breast Cancer Mining IJECEIAES
The very dense breast of mammogram image makes the Radiologists often have difficulties in interpreting the mammography objectively and accurately. One of the key success factors of computer-aided diagnosis (CADx) system is the use of the right features. Therefore, this research emphasizes on the feature selection process by performing the data mining on the results of mammogram image feature extraction. There are two algorithms used to perform the mining, the decision tree and the rule induction. Furthermore, the selected features produced by the algorithms are tested using classification algorithms: k-nearest neighbors, decision tree, and naive bayesian with the scheme of 10-fold cross validation using stratified sampling way. There are five descriptors that are the best features and have contributed in determining the classification of benign and malignant lesions as follows: slice, integrated density, area fraction, model gray value, and center of mass. The best classification results based on the five features are generated by the decision tree algorithm with accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, FPR, and TPR of 93.18%; 87.5%; 3.89%; 6.33% and 92.11% respectively.
Computer-aided diagnosis system for breast cancer based on the Gabor filter ...IJECEIAES
The most prominent reason for the death of women all over the world is breast cancer. Early detection of cancer helps to lower the death rate. Mammography scans determine breast tumors in the first stage. As the mammograms have slight contrast, thus, it is a blur to the radiologist to recognize micro growths. A computer-aided diagnostic system is a powerful tool for understanding mammograms. Also, the specialist helps determine the presence of the breast lesion and distinguish between the normal area and the mass. In this paper, the Gabor filter is presented as a key step in building a diagnostic system. It is considered a sufficient method to extract the features. That helps us to avoid tumor classification difficulties and false-positive reduction. The linear support vector machine technique is used in this system for results classification. To improve the results, adaptive histogram equalization pre-processing procedure is employed. Mini-MIAS database utilized to evaluate this method. The highest accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity achieved are 98.7%, 98%, 99%, respectively, at the region of interest (30×30). The results have demonstrated the efficacy and accuracy of the proposed method of helping the radiologist on diagnosing breast cancer.
Image processing techniques play a significant role in many areas in life, especially
in medical images, where they play a prominent role in diagnosing many diseases such
as detection of the brain tumor, breast cancer, kidney cancer, and the fractions.
Breast cancer is a common disease, regardless of the type of this disease, whether
it is benign or malignant, it is very dangerous and early detection may reduce the risk
of the disease spreading in the body leading to death. This work presents an approach
to detect breast cancer based on image processing algorithms, including image
preprocessing, enhancement, segmentation, Morphological operations, and feature
extraction to detect and extract the breast cancer region

Even though a great attention has been given on the cervical cancer diagnosis, it is a tuff task to observe the
pap smear slide through microscope. Image Processing and Machine learning techniques helps the pathologist
to take proper decision. In this paper, we presented the diagnosis method using cervical cell image which is
obtained by Pap smear test. Image segmentation performed by multi-thresholding method and texture and shape
features are extracted related to cervical cancer. Feature selection is achieved using Mutual Information(MI),
Sequential Forward Search (SFS), Sequential Floating Forward Search (SFFS) and Random Subset Feature
Selection(RSFS) methods.
Possibilistic Fuzzy C Means Algorithm For Mass classificaion In Digital Mammo...IJERA Editor
Mammography is an effective imaging modality of breast cancer abnormalities detection. Survival rate of breast cancer treatment can be increased via early detection of mammography. However detecting the mass in the early stage is a tough task for radiologist. Detection of suspicious abnormalities is a continual task. Out of thousand cases only 3 to 4 are analyzed as cancerous by a radiologist and thus abnormality may be left out. 10-30% of cancers are failed to detect by radiologist. Computer Aided Diagnosis helps the radiologists to detect abnormalities earlier than traditional procedures. Because of some negligence in capturing device, the image may be affected by noise this leads to fault diagnosis. Preprocessing can remove this unwanted noise. In this paper features such as entropy, circularity, edge detection, and correlation are extracted from the image to distinguish normal and abnormal regions of a mammogram. Classification and detection of mammogram can be done by Possibilistic Fuzzy C Means algorithm and Support Vector Machine using extracted features.

A Survey on Segmentation Techniques Used For Brain Tumor DetectionEditor IJMTER
In recent years Brain tumor is one of the most commonly found causes for death among
children and adults. Early detection of tumor is a must in order to reduce the death rate. For tumor
detection various image techniques can be used. In this paper we mainly concentrate on the images
obtained from MRI scans. In MRI images, the tumor may appear clearly, but for further treatment
the physician need to be a qualified and well experienced person. In order to help the radiologist in
detection computer-aided diagnosis was developed. The generation of a CAD system consists of
several processes and among them segmentation is considered to the most important process. Image
Segmentation is a process of partitioning an image into multiple segments. The main objective of
segmentation is to represent the image into a simplified form so as to increase the efficiency and
accuracy of the system. Therefore the segmentation of brain tumor can be considered as an important
role in the medical image process. Hence in this paper we concentrate on the recently used
segmentation techniques for the detection of tumor using MRI images.

A MODIFIED BINARY PSO BASED FEATURE SELECTION FOR AUTOMATIC LESION DETECTION ...ijcsit
This paper presents an effective feature selection method that can be applied to build a computer aided
diagnosis system for breast cancer in order to discriminate between healthy, benign and malignant
parenchyma. Determining the optimal feature set from a large set of original features is an important preprocessing
step which removes irrelevant and redundant features and thus improves computational
efficiency, classification accuracy and also simplifies the classifier structure. A modified binary particle
swarm optimized feature selection method (MBPSO)has been proposed where k-Nearest Neighbour
algorithm with leave-one-out cross validation serves as the fitness function. Digital mammograms obtained
from Regional Cancer Centre, Thiruvananthapuram and the mammograms from web accessible mini-MIAS
database has been used as the dataset for this experiment. Region of interests from the mammograms are
automatically detected and segmented. A total of 117 shape, texture and histogram features are extracted
from the ROIs. Significant features are selected using the proposed feature selection method.Classification
is performed using feed forward artificial neural networks with back propagation learning. Receiver
operating characteristics (ROC) and confusion matrix are used to evaluate the performance. Experimental
results show that the modified binary PSO feature selection method not only obtains better classification
accuracy but also simplifies the classification process as compared to full set of features. The performance
of the modified BPSO is found to be at par with other widely used feature selection techniques.

All over the world breast cancer is a major disease which mostly affects the women and it may also cause death if it is not diagnosed in its early stage. But nowadays, several screening methods like magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), ultrasound imaging, thermography and mammography are available to detect the breast cancer. In this article mammography images are used to detect the breast cancer. In mammography image the cancerous lumps/microcalcifications are seen to be tiny with low contrast therefore it is difficult for the doctors/radiologist to detect it. Hence, to help the doctors/radiologist a novel system based on deep neural network is introduced in this article that detects the cancerous lumps/microcalcifications automatically from the mammogram images. The system acquires the mammographic images from the mammographic image analysis society (MIAS) data set. After pre-processing these images by 2D median image filter, cancerous features are extracted from the images by the hybridization of convolutional neural network with rat swarm optimization algorithm. Finally, the breast cancer patients are classified by integrating random forest with arithmetic optimization algorithm. This system identifies the breast cancer patients accurately and its performance is relatively high compared to other approaches.

Computer Aided System for Detection and Classification of Breast CancerIJITCA Journal
Breast cancer is one of the most important causes of death among all type of cancers for grown-up and
older women, mainly in developed countries, and its rate is rising. Since the cause of this disease is not yet
known, early detection is the best way to decrease the breast cancer mortality. At present, early detection of
breast cancer is attained by means of mammography. An intelligent computer-aided diagnosis system can
be very helpful for radiologist in detecting and diagnosing cancerous cell patterns earlier and faster than
typical screening programs. This paper proposes a computer aided system for automatic detection and
classification of breast cancer in mammogram images. Intuitionistic Fuzzy C-Means clustering technique
has been used to identify the suspicious region or the Region of Interest automatically. Then, the feature
data base is designed using histogram features, Gray Level Concurrence wavelet features and wavelet
energy features. Finally, the feature database is submitted to self-adaptive resource allocation network
classifier for classification of mammogram image as normal, benign or malignant. The proposed system is
verified with 322 mammograms from the Mammographic Image Analysis Society Database. The results
show that the proposed system produces better results.

CFD Simulation of By-pass Flow in a HRSG module by R&R Consult.pptxR&R Consult
CFD analysis is incredibly effective at solving mysteries and improving the performance of complex systems!
Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.
It is always satisfying when we can help solve complex challenges like this. Do your systems also need a check-up or optimization? Give us a call!
