This document summarizes a research paper that designed and analyzed a street light control system using various technologies to enable power savings. The system uses light dependent resistors (LDRs) to turn on LED street lights only when external light is low, infrared sensors to detect motion of cars/pedestrians and turn on lights accordingly, and pulse width modulation to gradually fade lights on and off. Wireless communication using ZigBee allows information transfer to a control terminal. The system was tested and able to detect faults in lights and sensors. It provides an affordable and automated solution to efficiently manage street lighting networks.
