This document proposes a technique for condition monitoring and fault detection of insulators in overhead transmission lines using Park's vector transformation. Insulator faults can develop slowly over time due to environmental degradation and dust accumulation. The technique monitors phase currents from the transmission line and applies Park's transformation to generate waveform patterns based on insulator capacitance and location. Comparing the patterns to simulations allows identification of faulty insulators, their location, and the condition of different phases to enable timely maintenance and prevent major faults. The method was tested in MATLAB simulations of a three-phase transmission line model.
FAULT DETECTION AND DIAGNOSIS OF INDUCTION MACHINE WITH ON-LINE PARAMETER PR...Sheikh R Manihar Ahmed
Today all instrumentation system pertaining to industrial process controls as well as domestic application involve automatic fault finding facility. This facility detects the faulty condition of the system and draws operator’s attention towards it enabling him to take suitable remedial action to ensure proper operation of the system. The main purpose of all FDI method is to monitor the system operations and in case of faults accommodate the source of faults so that timely corrective actions are taken. Fault detection simply involves a decision based on the monitored data as to whether there is a fault or the system is running normally. Fault isolation is then executed to identify the type and location of a fault after the fault detection has triggered an alarm so that corrective actions can be made. These two steps are known as Fault Detection and Isolation. Fault diagnosis is referred to as the combination of fault detection, identification and isolation. One such method of annunciation in which activation of visual or mechanical variable takes place when a removed switch or device has been activated as a result of fault in certain system, an audio alarm may also be associated with annunciations. This FDI system is defined and the existing technique to detect & isolate the fault with on-line parameter programming facility. The main advantage of the proposed approach of Control System based fault detection and isolation is its low cost. Low cost in terms of components used makes affordable in terms of easy handling and maintenance and various sensors can be used to give different types of input signals to circuit. An additional advantage is that the real time system still works when the host crashes, the matter that increases the reliability of the system & Data-logging facility can also be provided. A data-logger captures any measurement values which can be represented by a voltage. Nowadays, sensors and transducers are available for, practically, any physical quantity. The function of data-logger is to capture and store a specified number of specified number of sensor measurement values at predefined intervals and transfer the data including date and time to a PC in the form of file.

Induction Motors Faults Detection Based on Instantaneous Power Spectrum Analy...IDES Editor
A method of induction motor diagnostics based on
the analysis of three-phase instantaneous power spectra has
been offered. Its implementation requires recalculation of
induction motor voltages, aiming at exclusion from induction
motor instantaneous three-phase power signal the component
caused by supply mains dissymmetry and unsinusoidality. The
recalculation is made according to the motor known
electromagnetic parameters, taking into account the
electromotive force induced in stator winding by rotor currents.
The results of instantaneous power parameters computation
proved efficiency of this method in case of supply mains voltage
dissymmetry up to 20%. The offered method has been tested
by experiments. Its applicability for detection of several stator
and rotor winding defects appeared in motor simultaneously
has been proved. This method also makes it possible to
estimate the extent of defects development according to the
size of amplitudes of corresponding harmonics in the spectrum
of total three phase power signal.

Fault analysis in power system using power systems computer aided designIJAAS Team
This work presents a fault analysis simulation model of an IEEE 30 bus system in a distribution network. This work annalysed the effect of fault current and fault voltage in a distribution system. A circuit breaker was introduced into the system to neutralize the effect of the fault. The system was run on a PSCAD software and results were obtained. The system was monitored based on the start time and the end time of the fault and how well the circuit breaker reacts with those times. Fault occurred from 0.100 to 0.300 seconds before it was removed. At the time fault was not applied (i.e. from 0.00 to 0.100 and from 0.300 to 0.72), the circuit breaker was close and became open when fault was applied so as to cut off current flow through the line. The result obtained gave the disruption caused by the fault and the quick response of the circuit breaker in neutralizing it. Results gotten are based on when the circuit breaker is close and no fault is applied and when the circuit breaker is open due to fault. From this work, it was obtained that circuit breakers are very essential in system protection and reliability.
- This paper proposes a new technique of using discrete wavelet transform (DWT) and back-propagation neural network (BPNN) based on Clarke’s transformation for fault classification and detection on a single circuit transmission line. Simulation and training process for the neural network are done by using PSCAD / EMTDC and MATLAB. Daubechies4 mother wavelet (DB4) is used to decompose the high frequency components of these signals. The wavelet transform coefficients (WTC) and wavelet energy coefficients (WEC) for classification fault and detect patterns used as input for neural network training back-propagation (BPNN). This information is then fed into a neural network to classify the fault condition. A DWT with quasi optimal performance for preprocessing stage are presented. This study also includes a comparison of the results of training BPPN and DWT with and without Clarke’s transformation, where the results show that using Clarke transformation in training will give in a smaller mean square error (MSE) and mean absolute error (MAE). The simulation also shows that the new algorithm is more reliable and accurate.
The main purpose of the project is to detect the location of fault in underground cable lines from the base station in kilometers using a Renesas micro-controller. This project uses the standard concept of Ohms law i.e., when a low DC voltage is applied at the feeder end through a series resistor to the Cable lines, then current would vary depending upon the location of fault in the short circuited cable. Both the methods use voltage convertor, microcontroller and potentiometer to find the fault location under unsymmetrical faults.
In the urban areas, the electrical cables run in undergrounds instead of overhead lines. Whenever the fault occurs in underground cable it is difficult to detect the exact location of the fault for process of repairing that particular cable and long outage of power supply can cause the power distributors and retailers heavy loss of revenue and discomfort of the customers. Therefore, a quick detection and rectification of the faults is a major drawback for other power distributors and retailers. The proposed system finds the exact location of the fault using GSM Module and IOT
This system uses a Renesas micro-controller and a rectified power supply. Here the current sensing circuits made with combination of resistors are interfaced to Renesas controller with help of the ADC device for providing digital data to the microcontroller representing the cable length in KM’s. The fault creation is made by the set of switches. The relays are controlled by the relay driver IC which is used for switching the power sequentially to all the lines. A 16x2 LCD display connected to the microcontroller to display the information.
In case of short circuit (Line to Ground), the voltage across series resistors changes accordingly, which is then fed to an ADC to develop precise digital data to a programmed Renesas board that further displays fault location in kilometers.
The project future can be implemented by using capacitor in an ac circuit to measure the impedance which can even locate the open circuited cable.

Matlab/simulink simulation of unified power quality conditioner-battery energ...IJECEIAES
This paper presents performance analysis of Unified Power Quality Conditioner-Battery Energy Storage (UPQC-BES) system supplied by Photovoltaic (PV)-Wind Hybrid connected to three phase three wire (3P3W) of 380 volt (L-L) and 50 hertz distribution system. The performance of supply system is compared with two renewable energy (RE) sources i.e. PV and Wind, respectively. Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC) is implemented to maintain DC voltage across the capacitor under disturbance scenarios of source and load as well as to compare the results with Proportional Intergral (PI) controller. There are six scenarios of disturbance i.e. (1) non-linear load (NL), (2) unbalance and nonlinear load (Unba-NL), (3) distortion supply and non-linear load (Dis-NL), (4) sag and non-linear load (Sag-NL), (5) swell and non-linear load (Swell-NL), and (6) interruption and non-linear load (Inter-NL). In disturbance scenario 1 to 5, implementation of FLC on UPQC-BES system supplied by three RE sources is able to obtain average THD of load voltage/source current slightly better than PI. Furthermore under scenario 6, FLC applied on UPQC-BES system supplied by three RE sources gives significantly better result of average THD of load voltage/source current than PI. This research is simulated using Matlab/Simulink.

The machines subjected to inter-turn short circuit fault can be diagnosed through the characteristic patterns caused by inter-turn short circuit fault components in the DWT analysis by using the stator phase currents.
Many technologies are introduced in monitoring the fault occurrence in the electric motors used in industrial applications. Sound Accusation, current signature analysis, and vibration based motor fault detection systems are widely used in present years. From all these methods analyzing the motor vibration pattern produces more accuracy in finding an occurrence of different faults in the electric motor. The frequency of vibration generated by the MEMS vibration sensor differs for rotor, stator and bearing faults. The signal generated is analyzed using three important techniques namely wavelet analysis, Dyadic Transformation, and Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System(WAD Technique). Hardware with ARM microcontroller and ADXL MEMS vibration sensor was used to perform signal acquisition, and the generated signal is processed using the MATLAB software, and the speed of the motor is controlled based on the processed result. The performance of the system with all three algorithms was recorded, and the efficiency of the system is compared.

The inverter is the principal part of the photovoltaic (PV) systems that assures the direct current/alternating current (DC/AC) conversion (PV array is connected directly to an inverter that converts the DC energy produced by the PV array into AC energy that is directly connected to the electric utility). In this paper, we present a simple method for detecting faults that occurred during the operation of the inverter. These types of faults or faults affect the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the photovoltaic system, especially the inverter, which is the main component responsible for the conversion. Hence, we have shown first the faults obtained in the case of the short circuit. Second, the open circuit failure is studied. The results demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed method. Good monitoring and detection of faults in the inverter can increase the system's reliability and decrease the undesirable faults that appeared in the PV system. The system behavior is tested under variable parameters and conditions using MATLAB/Simulink.

It is now-a-days very important for the people to send or receive articles like imported furniture, electronic items, gifts, business goods and the like. People depend vastly on different transport systems which mostly use the manual way of receiving and delivering the articles. There is no way to track the articles till they are received and there is no way to let the customer know what happened in transit, once he booked some articles. In such a situation, we need a system which completely computerizes the cargo activities including time to time tracking of the articles sent. This need is fulfilled by Courier Management System software which is online software for the cargo management people that enables them to receive the goods from a source and send them to a required destination and track their status from time to time.

Immunizing Image Classifiers Against Localized Adversary Attacksgerogepatton
This paper addresses the vulnerability of deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks
(CNN)s, to adversarial attacks and presents a proactive training technique designed to counter them. We
introduce a novel volumization algorithm, which transforms 2D images into 3D volumetric representations.
When combined with 3D convolution and deep curriculum learning optimization (CLO), itsignificantly improves
the immunity of models against localized universal attacks by up to 40%. We evaluate our proposed approach
using contemporary CNN architectures and the modified Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR-10
and CIFAR-100) and ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC12) datasets, showcasing
accuracy improvements over previous techniques. The results indicate that the combination of the volumetric
input and curriculum learning holds significant promise for mitigating adversarial attacks without necessitating
adversary training.
