Band Concert Review
When I first arrived at Live on the Green I had never seen the venue or heard any of the bands who
were performing. I didn t look up to see who was performing in which slot I just thought whenever I
get ready and get there is who I will see play. Luckily enough for me Anderson East exceeded my
expectations. I left Saturday around four, picked up my friend, and off we went. When we arrived we
scanned our seating options. People were scattered everywhere. Some on blankets and in chairs on the
lawn, some were relaxing under shade of the trees at tables, and then there were some who stood and
bopped to the beat. We decided to grab some food, drink, and proceed to finding a nice spot to set our
blanket. He connected with his audience an appropriate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You didn t have to be too involved. You could just move about and do your thing and he would
address the crowd occasionally to keep them involved. Anderson had lovely stage performance.
Always moving around and interacting with the rest of the band as well as the audience. He had good
dance moves in my opinion that went well with the groove of the music. You could hear a saxophone,
drums, a trumpet, and two guitars in this performance. His outfit was super trendy and modern. He
engaged a relationship with the audience when he first stepped on stage and then spread it out
throughout the rest of his set, making sure to comment to us every now and again. The behavior of the
audience affected my experience by making me feel like I could really let lose. I was cheering for the
band and completely enjoying myself. I was glad to have a friend there but was also enjoying the
random mingling. Even though this was my first time going to Live on the Green, the performance,
location, and the social setting really make me want to attend next year for the whole line up. I was
very impressed that the city of Nashville made this available to the public! It just goes to show what
they are bringing into their lovely

The Issue Of Tort Law
In recent years, tort has been increasingly criticized on its suitability in performing its functions
including deterrence, compensation and justice. Along with its inefficiency and the high litigating
cost, it has been discussing whether tort should be replaced or eliminating some of the areas. Although
tort is not a perfect system, I believe that there are needs of reform for certain areas such as
compensation instead of abolishing the tort law. The aim of this essay is to explore the recent
criticisms about tort law with further analysis in order to find out whether these criticisms are valid.
Certain areas of reform will also be discussed so that to see how we are possible to improve the
current tort law system. There are several ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is very similar in terms of the moral inhibition that people normally stop any self satisfying
behaviours which would cause harm to the others unreasonablly. People have sense of moral within
themselves therefore are not very likely to act harmfully to the others and also avoid to casue any
embarrassment. For market force, professionals or businessmen are to aim to attract new customers so
they are more likely to act safe and avoid having bad reputation that may affect their career as they
provide any dangerous products or servies. It has been suggested that due to the above behavioural
control, tort law may not be necessary and have not been doing well to act as a deterrence and is
predicted that tort claims are not very likely to rise drastically even tort law is abolished or replaced.
Apart from deterrence, compensation is another function of tort law and is also known as the central
purpose of it. However, there are increasing arguments against the present system criticising its
inefficiency in compensating the accident victims. Firstly, it will lead to excessive compenstation.
There are three systems that accident victims can claim for their compensation and they are tort
damage, public nuissance and private nuissance. Some victims may be over compensated if they claim

The Fight for Racial Equality In North Carolina Essay
Plessy vs. Ferguson was a landmark decision passed in 1896 that instituted the practice of separate but
equal in American society. The separate but equal doctrine was an oppressive system of racial
segregation which greatly lessened the rights of all minorities especially in public education. The fight
for educational equality made public schools in North Carolina and other states in the south a major
area of conflict. Wilma Peebles Wilkins noted, Upward mobility through the educational structure is in
keeping with the desires of post World War II black Americans to enhance their economic, political,
and social statuses. There were many court cases in which organizations such as the National

There was a great effort in North Carolina to halt integration. In 1955, Governor Luther H. Hodges
reported to the North Carolina General Assembly that ?The mixing of the races forthwith in the public
schools throughout the state cannot be accomplished and should not be permitted.? In 1955 the Pupil
Assignment Act was passed which ?condemned and protested the Brown decision? . The Pupil
Assignment Act was the first of many attempts of the North Carolina Legislature to halt integration.
This act authorized local schools to implement administrative procedures regarding school transfers
and reassignment request. This attempt was viewed by many citizens as a means to implement token
integration. On September 2, 1957 the first public school integration in North Carolina took place in
Greensboro. According to Clarence Dean of the New York Times, ?The group comprises one senior
high school girl, three junior high school boys and on boy and one girl in elementary school.? Some
citizens according to Dean praised the action of the city of Greensboro as a ?sincere, although
cautious, effort to begin general integration.? However, others regarded the action of the Greensboro
and other cities as ?nothing more than a device? to implement token integration. Kelley M. Alexander

X-Ray Technician Application
In my 30 plus years in the X ray profession, I have performed thousands of X ray examinations. The
technology and its contribution to patient care still fascinate me. X rays or radiography, as it is known
in medicine allow for looking inside a body and identifying everything from broken bones to
swallowed objects. The tool is vital to the ability to diagnose and treat injuries. Radiologic technology
encompasses a wide spectrum of specialties, from radiographers (who produce 3 D and 2 D images of
bones, organs and vessels) to radiation therapists (who administer customized forms of radiation to
treat cancer and other diseases). After working at several Columbus area hospitals, I became a
radiologic technology professor and now work with students at the University of Cincinnati. My

While traveling during the summer, I experienced severe abdominal pain and went to the emergency
room of a St. Louis hospital. The physician ordered a CT (computed tomography) scan of my chest,
abdomen and pelvis. Four large tumors were found in my uterus. When I returned home to Pickaway
County, I underwent additional imaging exams so the medical team could get a clear look at the
growths. I had an ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging at OhioHealth Riverside Methodist
Hospital. Based on the results of those tests, I was scheduled for surgery in early September. I was
extremely frightened, of course, because I didn t know whether the tumors were cancerous nor did I
know what to expect. The role reversal felt strange. After having spent more than three decades taking
X rays and preparing students to enter the profession, I was suddenly relying on the expertise of other
radiologic technologists. And I looked to them for guidance and comfort, as I was in a place I hadn t

Iago s Motives Of Stock Characters In Othello
can be interpreted in many ways, each person views it differently. Each account being influenced by
the viewers [audience] own life experiences. Rosenberg and McCloskey, unlike Stempel, are very
sympathetic of Iago. I think that when trying to understand the character Iago, first we need to
recognize what Shakespeare s original intentions for the play were, and also the style of plays he
tended to write, as they all have obvious similarities. Rather than writing about stock characters,
which was common in the theater during Elizabethan times, Shakespeare wrote about people who
seemed real. Rosenberg believes that Shakespeare s intentions for the play was to be a story of
betrayal between two friends, it is quite possible that Shakespeare was drawn to this story because it

McCloskey, in order to determine what Iago s motives were in Othello by William Shakespeare.
Stempel is very much a symbolist critic. Stempel is of the belief that Iago is the symbol of evil, he has
little sympathy towards Iago, in that he compares him to the devil. On the other hand Rosenberg
argues against Stempel, claiming that Iago is an intelligent, cunning character who is like many
characters so commonly used the psychological style of writing. McCloskey similar to Rosenberg
thinks that Iago was a man who merely set out to seek justice, who had gotten so far that it was too
late to remove himself from the situation. After researching and examining the papers of these critics it
has become clear that Iago did not carry out evil for the sake of it, he had a motive. Iago had a lot of
jealous and hate built up inside of him, he, like many people had a reputation to attain. Since Othello
and Cassio harmed his reputation, he planned to get revenge. Overcome with power, and emotions,
Iago lacked the will to refrain himself from causing such

The Poet: Emerson Response
By the end of Emersons The Poet , not only has he inspired a new generation of poets he s also
emphasized the important role poetry plays in society and changed all the rules society had regarding
poetry. For poetry was all written before time was, and whenever we are so finely organized that we
can penetrate into that region where the air is music, ... (Emerson pg. 3)
In this excerpt from The Poet, Emerson is attempting to make a profound statement on the impact
poetry plays in every living human being on Earth. He is viewing a poet as the creator of the universe.
In doing this he is saying that poetry is something that already exists all around us, it s the job of the
poet to capture that and present it through their words. Emerson labels the poet as the man of Beauty,
which he believes has a superior calling. The poet is different from the intellectual as he doesn t see
any relation between the material world, and the world of thoughts and ideas. Emerson establishes his
belief that there is a relationship between the ideal , which is something that we aspire to be, and the
real which is one of the central issues in the discussion. Emerson backs up all his points with very
heady, and mystical beliefs which adds to the grandiose nature of The Poet. Emerson believes that too

Arabian Economic Advantages And Disadvantages
After rapid growth in the international debt of developing countries in the 1970s and the increasing
incidence of scheduling back debt in the early 1980s, the risk of countries reflecting the ability and
willingness of a country to financial services has been a topic of concern for the international world
(Cosset and Roy, 1991).
As well as significant events that occurred on September 11, 2001, the associated risks in international
relations has increased substantially, and it becomes more difficult to be analyzed and predicted for
decision makers in the fields of Economics, finance and politics. International investors are also aware
that the globalization of world trade and capital market openness poses a risk that could cause the

economics may have a weakness in political or social fields. This is the one that causes a country still
has risks although is included in a State that has a stable economy.
One example is the case in the Arabian peninsula, the Levant. The Arabian peninsula is the name of a
giant peninsula in Western Asia that has the form resembles the boots. the continental climate is hot is
known as one of the more prosperous cities in the world thanks to the existing oil reserves beneath it.
However, not all the residents of the Arabian peninsula has a prosperous people. Yemen located in the

meager oil reserves, Yemen must also wrestle with the war tearing his territory.
The factor ethnicity was a factor in the Arabian peninsula that also affect why conflict there lasts

India s Post Colonial Populist Democracy
The recent experience of India s post colonial populist democracy with Moditva (the rise of Narendra
Modi as India s prime minister by mobilizing varied sections of the Indian population: corporates,
media, middle classes, Hindutva activists, a section of Other Backward Classes and Dalits along with
the poor) has fundamentally challenged the liberal conception of democracy. It is interesting to note
that a person widely regarded as anti minorities while ignoring the normative principle of rule of law
when protecting the minorities from majoritarian violence, gets elected by popular mandate. In this
respect, Moditva ( Modified version of Hindutva) might pose possible threats to India s democratic
processes in future.
Moditva is not just a specific political agenda with a personality cult but it can be called as what
Michael Freeden calls a micro ideology . As nationalism is a micro ideology in Freeden s parlance,
Moditva can be also described as a peculiar micro ideology . Previously, Hindutva had shown its
limitations by not ensuring electoral majority for the BJP in the 1990s. In contrast, Moditva has not
only ensured a clear majority for BJP (282 seats) with 10 seats more than the majority mark and over
60% seats for the National Democratic Alliance (336 seats) but has also got a large proportion of votes
31% for BJP and over 38% for NDA. Although, the vote share of the BJP led NDA is way below the
50% mark, in a competitive multiparty democracy with a history of

Air Canada s Business Case Study
Air Canada maintains several defined benefit pension plans, including domestic registered pension
plans, supplemental pension plans and international pension plans. Air Canada s pension funding
obligations may vary significantly based on a wide variety of factors. Any changes to these factors
may result in an increase in Air Canada s obligations. Besides, deteriorating economic conditions or a
prolonged period of low or decreasing interest rates may result in significant increases in Air Canada s

Current legal proceedings
Air Canada is involved in or may be subject to legal proceedings which could negatively impact the
company`s operations. Recently, Air Canada was involved in investigations by competition authorities
relating to Air Canada Cargo division and mandatory retirement issues. MD A explains the details of
the court proceedings.
External risks
Fuel cost, airport user and air navigation fees, foreign exchange, Aeroplan, Star Alliance, key
suppliers, regional carriers, economic and geopolitical conditions, competition.
Fuel cost
Cost of fuel is also one of Air Canada s largest operation costs items. Fuel prices have and may
continue to fluctuate widely depending on many factors and, therefore Air Canada cannot accurately
predict fuel prices. Due to the competitive nature of the airline industry, Air Canada may not be able to
pass an increase in fuel prices to its customers by increasing its fares. In addition, Air Canada may be
unable to appropriately or sufficiently hedge the risks associated with fluctuations in fuel prices.
Furthermore, the impact of lower jet fuel prices could be offset by increased price competition,
resulting in decreased revenues. Significant fluctuations in fuel prices could have a potential negative
effect on Air Canada.

Race In America
Race is one of many key factors that influence the historic relationship between classes, ethnicity,
immigrants, bodies, and the state, specifically when it comes to notions of citizenship. The articles,
Perils of Degeneration, Hygiene and The Indian Problem , Nationalizing Children through Schools
and Hygiene, Puffy, Ugly, Slothful and Inert , and The Vice Trust, all point to the function of popular
perceptions of race in society, specifically how individuals are classified based on certain racial
markers. All of these articles surround the theme in which notions of race influenced political and
social responses in both the United States and Latin America.
More often than not, these articles help us discover that, citizenship tends to be confused and
misidentified with race. Ann Zulawski highlights this particularly well in her account of late
nineteenth century Latin American and its conversations surround public health in the public sphere.
In doing so, the political elite can easily exclude certain races, such as Indians from the political ...

their domination over African American women. Thus, not only increasing the mulatto population but
it also institutionalized a new form of modern slavery trafficking. With Keire s focus on the Vice Trust
she emphasizes a key shift away from morality and into economics and introduced a set of strategies

The Delian League Essay
Explain the methods used by the Athenians to transform the Delian League into the Athenian Empire.
(25 marks) There is certainty no evidence to suggest that the Athenians had any long term plans, in the
years 479 470 BC, to change the Delian League into an empire, although from the beginning the
potential to develop into an imperial power were there. Because from the beginning, Athens had
considerable power as she was the permanent hegemon. The most important aspects involving the
transformation of League into empire was the changing relationships between Athens and her allies,
Periclesʼ imperial policy, Athensʼ selfish self interest in gaining more power by using the Leagueʼs

The establishments of cleruchies had cause much resentment from other Greek states towards Athens.
According to Plutarch, this system had relieve the city of a large number of idlers and agitators and
raise the standards of the poorest classes , but at the same time it implanted amongst the allies a
healthy fear of rebellion . It also allowed Athens to gain more numbers of hoplites, as only Athenian
men with money can become a hoplite soldier. This had increased the military force in Athens and had
strengthened Athensʼ hold on her empire, as they were located at strategic points in the Aegean. The
worsening relationship between Athensʼ and her allies in the League is due to Athensʼ selfish self
interest in developing her imperial power, and this had allow Athens to gradually grow into an empire.
This selfish self interest can be seen after the Peace of Callias. At first the aim of the League was,
according to Thucydides, ʻto compensate themselves for their losses by ravaging the territory of the
King of Persiaʼ, but in 449 BC Persian lost the battle against Cimon in Cyprus and signed a peace
treaty called ʻPeace of Calliasʼ. Although this meant that the Leagueʼs aim had been fulfilled, the
Athenians argued that the Persians would strike again if the Greeks appeared weak. This argument
from Athens had an underlying aim, that was so the Greeks states would not leave

Depicting the Various Traits and Characteristics of Leadership in Literature
When discussing any triumphant or flourishing organization or institution, the main attribute which
will always surface when examining the true fabric of what allows a particular organization or
institution to excel, will always be leadership. Leadership is portrayed at its pinnacle in William
Bratton s Turnaround, Rudolph Giuliani s book Leadership, Oren Harari s book The Leadership
Secrets of Colin Powell, and David Lipsky s book Absolutely American: Four Years at West Point. In

Bratton realized the task at hand and that it would not be easy. He knew he was given the number one
police job in the country as the commissioner of the NYPD, and he was ready. He knew that nothing
would be possible without the support of his police officers. Morale was one of the big reasons that
the NYPD was so run down upon Bratton s arrival. He set out to the 103rd precinct in Queens to let
them know that things are about to change. Bratton carefully selected this precinct as the one he would
utilize in making his initial presence felt. Morale was exceptionally low in this precinct due to the
murder of Officer Ed Byrne. In February of 1988 Officer Byrne was sitting in his patrol car guarding
the home of a man who had informed on a drug dealer when he was shot to death by drug dealers.
That was a vicious indicator of the life and times of police officers during that era, and Bratton knew
it. As Bratton s first official act as police commissioner, he stood in front of the 103 and began: I said
when I took this job that we would take this city back for the good people that live here, neighborhood
by neighborhood, block by block, house by house. But I m going to need your help in doing that. I m
going to need all of you in the game. I want my cops to be cops. I want them to be assertive. I don t

HOW DOES PROESTLEY PRESENT THE THEME OF RESPONSEBILITY?
Priestley has cunningly and cleverly set An Inspector Calls in `1912 when there was limited welfare

Shooting Dad, by Sarah Vowell, is about two completely different groups, with contrasting views, that
can learn to get along with one another. The reader learns through unsubtle clues that Vowell is a
Democrat and her father is a Republican. These collective groups offer completely different
viewpoints on many topics, therefore Vowell has a hard time getting along with her father. Vowell is
not a strong supporter of guns; however her father has magazine subscriptions devoted to gun
ownership, owns many guns, and belongs to an association for gun enthusiasts. Each group had their
own areas devoted toward their favorite candidates and used the kitchen and living room for neutral
zones. Vowell and her father both share the trait of a messy work area, but in their own way. Her father

One of God s nature was a family and in His infinite wisdom, He created humankind to be His family
with an adoration to praise Him for the wonderful acts He bestows. Strong shares, The aim of
theology is the ascertainment of the facts respecting God and the relations between God and the
universe, and the exhibition of these facts in their rational unity, as connected parts of a formulated
and organic system of truth. Additionally, there is the science that tries to unlock the mysteries of God.
However, science has its limitations to unlocking this mystery. Strong continues, In defining theology

I was too upset to have a conversation with him and knew that if I did talk to him, I would say
something ungodly. In order to prevent that, I chose to keep my distance. Sometime later, he wanted to
continue the subject and stated, I was upset with how you wanted to handle the issue, so let s see if we
can come to an agreement on how to resolve it. When reading the above scenario, repentance never
occurred from my friend. Although I forgave him for the remarks, and it was several weeks until he
finally repented or has remorse for making the comments, however, the initial response was not
repentance. Before I reconnected with my friend, I used some of Sande s method. He states,
Preparation is one of the most important elements of successful negotiation (Prov. 14:8, 22). This is
especially true when significant issues or strong feelings are involved.
Pray. I asked God to give me the right words to say, to keep me from being offensive.
Study the Bible. I read scriptures and had some prepared for the conversation. Scriptures such as
Colossians 4:6, letting your conversation be of grace; Ephesians 4:29, do not let wrong
communication come out your mouth; Proverbs 15:28, the heart weighs its answers, just to name a

I Am A U.s. Born Citizen
I am a U.S. born citizen. My parents moved to the United States in 1984 without knowing anything
about this country. Looking for a fresh start and new opportunities, my parents settled in Houston.
With hardly knowing any English, my parents knew this was the place to make dreams become a
reality. Luckily, I had older siblings to look up to whenever I needed help. Like Lahiri, I was trapped
in between two different cultures while I was growing up. At home, I only spoke Spanish, but in
school it was English. My habits and customs were different than others. Life as an immigrant s
offspring can be very difficult. As I grew older, I allowed myself to open my eyes and see the beauty
of being an American from Hispanic descent. It was always odd talking about my culture because we
as Hispanics are very family oriented. As a kid, I hardly spent time with my friends outside of school.
My cousins were my friends. For Lahiri, it was difficult to get along with her friends as well. She
states, In addition to my distinguishing name and looks, I did not attend Sunday school, did not know
how to ice skate, and disappeared to India for months at a time. Many if these friends proudly called
themselves Irish American or Italian American (Lahiri 98). I can relate to Lahiri because I understand
where she s coming from. I would visit el Salvador nearly every summer, and none of my friends
would even know. Since my parents could barely communicate with my friends, it was hard to spend

Remittance In Haiti
Remittance occurs when an expatriate sends funds to their country of origin. It provides an outside
source of income for the country while forcing citizens to look for jobs outside of these
underdeveloped nations. Investopedia mentions the importance of this to the economic development
of countries by stating that in 2014 $583 billion in USD was transferred between countries, $436
Billion in USD was transferred was received by developing countries (Investopedia, 2005). This fact
demonstrates how the emergence of remittance with globalization has opened up developing countries
to new economic opportunities. Haiti has become a key example of how a country has become reliable
on this form of economic contribution. According to a 2010 report ... Show more content on

The migrants are desperate for work and finances, thus making them susceptible to the exploitation.
The extremely low wages and inhumane working environment are accepted because of the desperation
of the workers. According to a report by the Migration Policy Institute Haitian immigrants were as
likely to live in poverty (i.e., with incomes below 100 percent of the federal poverty level) (Batalova
Nwosu, 2014). The inability of these workers to voice against their pay or treatment result in the
common exploitation of their labor. As seen in the Migration Policy Institute s statement where
Haitian immigrants earn incomes below 100 percent of the federal poverty rate in the United States.

The Walk a Mile in Her Shoes Charity
In 2001, Frank Baird founded the charity event Walk a Mile in Her Shoes: The International Men s
March to Stop Rape, Sexual Assault, and Gender Violence in an effort to engage more men in the fight
against sexual violence and domestic abuse in the United States and abroad (Walk a Mile in Her
Shoes, n.d.). Walk a Mile in Her Shoes is a mile long charity walk where men literally walk, jog, run,
and occasionally trip in high heels, customarily red (the classic emblem for the walk). However, all
types of traditional women s shoes are fine, and anyone who cannot wear heels or has special needs,
such as a wheelchair, is encouraged to participate and help raise awareness of this pressing issue while
also raising money for community resources that help survivors of sexual assault and domestic abuse.
Several Walk a Mile in Her Shoes charity walks have been successfully held in locations like Logan
and Orem, UT. I have personally volunteered as a Blister Sister during Park City s recent Walk a Mile
in Her Shoes event which benefitted the Peace House. However, the most populous county in Utah,
Salt Lake County, has never held a Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event and I think 2014 is the perfect
time to bring this celebrated event to Salt Lake City. Like other Walk a Mile in Her Shoes events,
Walk a Mile in Her Shoes, Salt Lake City! will raise funds for a local non profit organization
dedicated to eliminating sexual violence in our state the Rape Recovery Center of Utah.

Human Papillomavirus ( Hpv ) Vaccine Essay
Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Vaccine
My niece is 11 years old and my sister in law is being pressured from doctors, friends, and even the
news media to give her a certain type of vaccination called HPV, Gardasil being the most common. At
the end of our conversation, she mentions that at least she has a choice and turned to me, saying you
may not have a choice when your kids are that age. I was stunned and she goes on to tell me how the
government is trying very hard to make this particular vaccination mandatory. Upon further research, I
have discovered that this particular vaccine should not be amongst the mandatory vaccines, because
unlike the others this particular disease is not transmitted through the air rather it is through sexual
contact and is only effective against a small number of strains identified, in addition, the long term
effects are unknown and it is not cost effective.
Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a sexually transmitted infection (STI)...it is the most prevalent STI in
the United States, with strains causally linked to oropharyngeal and other cancers . (Osazuwa Peters
p.1) It is understandable why people want to prevent such a virus. Since the FDA approval of HPV
vaccines, in 2006, there have been many positive unobtrusive ways that states have adopted to prevent
or control HPV, such as public education about the disease, legislation on funding, HPVcervical
cancer screening. However, some states have attempted to mandate children to take the vaccine

Dental Hygienist Experience Essay
It would be early on Saturday morning in which I roll out of bed to prepare for my internship at Dr.
Henkel s place, Horsham Dental Elements. Dr. Henkel acquired the dental center in 1990 after moving
the suburbs in Horsham. Many patients would come to this dental clinic, sitting in the waiting lounge
as they wait for their name to be announced. Each patient would be directed to the assigned room from
the dental specialist (Dr. Henkel Interview).
During the procedures for dental hygiene the dental hygienist would often comment on the patient and
their overall health of their teeth. Gums look much less swollen. I barely see any plaque? Other times
they remark, Are you flossing more regularly? Once the polishing and cleaning was complete the
dental hygienist would then mention Wait here, he will be here in just a moment.
Who was coming? It was the inspector, Dr. Henkel. The man was as round as a globe. He would dress
in his usual green collared shirt, as he waddled down the hallway with his thudding gait. Immediately,
once entering the room, he would greet his patients with his warm welcoming smile. In addition, he
would sit in his swivel chair, cover his mouth with his surgical mask and then put his dental glasses to

Neruda Poetry Analysis
Reflective Statement Neruda Poetry
Throughout the interactive oral, we discussed Neruda s beliefs and how they influenced his poetry.
Moreover, we discussed how these things not only influenced his writing style, but also his life.
Previously, I thought that I could not relate to Neruda because his beliefs differed very much from
mine. These beliefs clashed because Neruda is from a Latin American country that is communist, and
he is also a communist; while someone like me lives in the United States which is a democracy.
Following this, Neruda s work was easier to relate to than I had originally thought because he talks
about the Latin American struggle and gave his people a voice in poems such as United Fruit co. when
he names the American companies that took advantage of Chile and other Latin American countries.
In the IOQ, we as a class think communists are bad because of the way they are displayed in the
United States, but the IOQ helped me understand that Neruda was more than a communist. Neruda
was a person who used his platform, and took risks writing controversial poems about the struggle of
his people to give them a voice, and politics to expose the corruptness of those leaders because they
were not only taking advantage of their people but also giving communism a negative connotation.
Adding on, Neruda was a strong advocate for communism which influenced his writing also even
though he wrote about other communist leaders such as Martinez and Trujillo, his love for
communism was shown when he wrote the ode to Fidel Castro. Neruda admires Castro because in his
eves Fidel Castro does communism the right way unlike Martinez and Trujillo who took advantage of
their countries resources and people. The way Neruda portrays Fidel Castro contradicts the way
America portrays him because Castro is characterized as a person who killed anyone that got in the
way of his vision of a perfect Cuba, While Neruda characterizes him as hero of communism because
he did not corrupt his people by letting American companies take over Cuba and take advantage of the
people of Cuba.
Overall, the IOQ enhanced my appreciation and understanding of Neruda s work, some of Neruda s
work was controversial, yet people could still relate

societyputs forth expectations of what is natural or biological even though, in some cases, it can be
quite demeaning and degrading. I am using some examples from the local media and also a few
childhoodexperiences that have helped me to now strongly suspect that the quote from Simone

to it. There is continuing controversy about the differences between girls and boys, men and women,

Megan s Law Research Paper
The Unethical Practice of Megan s Law in New Jersey Alexa Luzzi Monmouth University The
Unethical Practice of Megan s Law in New Jersey Introduction In the year of 1994, the New Jersey
Legislature passed a law known as Megan s Law. The law was named after Megan Kanka, a seven
year old girl who was raped and killed in Hamilton Township, New Jersey, by a known child molester
who had moved across the street from the family. Megan s Law, in short, created a registration and
notification procedure to alert law enforcement, schools, community organizations and neighbors to
the presence of a sex offender who authorities believe may pose a risk to the community (Morris
County Office of the Prosecutor, 2015, p. 1). States must provide relevant information about these sex

show her a puppy. He then raped her and strangled her to death with a belt. After this horrific murder,
he dumped her body in Mercer County Park. The killing of Megan generated an enormous amount of
public outrage. In the wake of the tragedy, the Kanka family sought to have local communities warned
about the sex offenders that reside in the area. Shortly after Megan s murder, the New Jersey
Legislature began the task of revising New Jersey s sex offender laws. The entire process took less
than three months and on October 31, 1994, Governor Whitman responded to public pressure by
enacting nine sex offender statutes that have become known as Megan s Law (Brooks, 1996, p.

Unprecedented wildfires have forced a half million people from their homes in one country and

The Relevance of Maps in Natural and Human Sciences
In my opinion, a map is a representation of real life situations scaled onto paper, used to further
explain, describe and simplify information. It can be in the form of a model, a diagram or an actual
map showing features of the earth. When my Geography teacher in Form 4 taught the class about
Population, we couldn t really grasp the concept of how to determine the stages of countries in terms
of their birth rate and death rate, so he used the Demographic Transition Model that shows the stages
of birth rate and death rate as well as population growth of countries to further explain the stages of
development in countries, in relation to population. After his explanation of the model, 15 out of 17
students stated that they fully understood the topic as opposed to 5 out of 17 students in the class
before the class was introduced to the model. This goes to show that the model successfully simplified
the knowledge and aided us in further understanding the topic, thus proving its convenience only
when it simplifies knowledge. If it wasn t used to simplify the knowledge, it wouldn t have been
relevant in the situation. What I plan to do in this essay is to explore what it means to simplify
knowledge as well as discussing the relevance of maps in two areas of knowledge; Natural Sciences
and Human Sciences, as well as discuss the extent to which a map simplifies knowledge.
Simplifying knowledge means breaking it down from a complex form to a form in which most people

Myrtle Rust Research Paper
It came, It saw, It conquered The battle lines had been drawn and it had been around for about two
years before its first outbreak was witnessed on April 23, 2010 on the coast of New South Wales. The
march then continued to the next targets Victoria and Queensland. Over the course of three years, it
has become one of the biggest biosecurity threats to Australia s ecosystem. This alien intruder is
commonly known as Myrtle Rust. What is Myrtle Rust and how pernicious is it? Myrtle Rust, aka
Uredo rangelii, is a fungal plant pathogen native to South America that affects plants in Myrtaceae
family, such as Tea tree, Beach Cherry and Bottle Brush (DAFF, 2012). Its advent can be witnessed in
the form of small purple flecks and leaf spots on young leaves. It then utilizes its vicious powers to
create tiny, raised spots or pustules, which turn powdery distinctive yellow after a few days. It attacks
young and new plants and causes them to be stunted, leaves to be twisted and even leads to their
death. While the South American trees have some resistance against this aggressor, the Australian ones
are more vulnerable. It has the potential to affect up to 80 per cent of Australian native trees and the
crusade cannot be stopped once it has occupied the bush lands (NSW Scientific ... Show more content

Pills And Starships
Book Report: Pills and Starships by Lydia Millet Summary Pills and Starships, an intriguing novel by
Lydia Millet, shows a vividly imagined dystopian future in which the world is consumed in despair
and the unsustainable population is controlled by the government. Lydia Millet does a brilliant job in
fabricating a post apocalyptic, sinister form of Earth that s enveloped in toxic gas due to excessive
pollution and climate change. Migrations of whole cities of people to escape bad air quality are
constant, food and water are scarce, and people are forced to take pills to stabilize their emotions.
Many oppressive limitations are placed upon the remaining people by the government and
corporations, who forbid having children and even limit your right to take your own life or die. The
main characters, Nat and Sam, live in this horrific world. Their parents experienced the beauty of
Earth before global warming led to its deterioration, and being old, they couldn t bear the pain and

An Organization Is Super Important
Organization is super important. So when you organize your cables, it ll be very easy for you to find
things and have complete access. It is easier to find things in an organized place than in a messy and
cluttered place. By organizing, you know the exact place where things are at and you would not have
to spend hours finding them. This is beneficial for us because it helps us to save time as well as
energy. Things should be organized in a way so that they are easily accessible. The empty space that is
created with organizing makes the house and or the working area look more spacious. Arranging
cables and putting them into order automatically creates space. Many a times, there are people, who
say they need more space for their stuff. When things are in less or in proper order, you need little
space. A smaller home with the proper arrangement maintenance can be sufficient and satisfying for
you. Cable management not only provides you with a cleaner and more organized space, it can also
extend the life and improve the performance of your cables! Cords that are piled up on the floor or
they hang slack behind equipment are more likely to suffer damage from crushing or sagging.

Its figures showed approximately 70,000 to 75,000 hip fractures occur each year which costs the NHS
£2 billion per year including social and medical input. Within one month about 10% of all neck of
femur fractures die, however these deaths are more commonly associated with pre existing health
conditions as opposed to being as a result of the fracture itself.
Bretherton and Parker (2014) have given evidence that suggests that approximately 200 elderly
patients sustain a hip fracture per day in England and Wales. The rate of 30 day mortality which is
associated with this injury is 8.2%. Travis et al, (2014) found that in 1990, the global number of hip
fractures reported were 1.3 million, it is estimated that this could increase to 21 million by 2050. Neck
of femur fractures are considered the most common cause of injury related death. In 2006, roughly
330,000 patients sustained neck of femur fractures. (Shields et Kates 2014). It is found that neck of
femur fractures are the most common occurring fractures in the older patient. Hershkovitz et al (2010)
highlight how it is the most common traumatic event in the elderly and may lead to significant

The Future Of Electric Cars Essay
Electric cars are becoming very popular in today s world and are becoming more main stream. One
reason for this is the need for automobiles that have a lower or a zero carbon footprint. For the
majority of the history of the automobile, the propulsion system was a gas or a diesel engine that
would run off of fossil fuels. The burning of fossil fuels is very hazardous to our world and also
creates much toxic pollution. However, electric cars run off of electricity, which is a very clean and
pollution free resource, depending on how the electricity was produced of course. In this paper we are
going to examine the history of electric cars, look into modern electric car technology, and peer into
the future of electric car technology to see if EVs might be the answer to dramatically reducing our
global pollution. In the 1800s the development of the battery and the electric motor led to the first
electric vehicles on the road. It is hard to pinpoint the invention of the electric car to just one inventor
or country so several inventors have been given credit for the invention of the electric car. A
Hungarian named Anyos Jedlik invented a small model car powered by an electric motor in 1828. And
roughly between the years of 1832 and 1839, Robert Anderson of Scotland invented a crude electric
carriage. Also in 1835 Professor Stratingh of Groningen, Holland built another small electric car with
his assistant Christopher Becker. There was another inventor named Thomas

  • 2. Band Concert Review When I first arrived at Live on the Green I had never seen the venue or heard any of the bands who were performing. I didn t look up to see who was performing in which slot I just thought whenever I get ready and get there is who I will see play. Luckily enough for me Anderson East exceeded my expectations. I left Saturday around four, picked up my friend, and off we went. When we arrived we scanned our seating options. People were scattered everywhere. Some on blankets and in chairs on the lawn, some were relaxing under shade of the trees at tables, and then there were some who stood and bopped to the beat. We decided to grab some food, drink, and proceed to finding a nice spot to set our blanket. He connected with his audience an appropriate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... You didn t have to be too involved. You could just move about and do your thing and he would address the crowd occasionally to keep them involved. Anderson had lovely stage performance. Always moving around and interacting with the rest of the band as well as the audience. He had good dance moves in my opinion that went well with the groove of the music. You could hear a saxophone, drums, a trumpet, and two guitars in this performance. His outfit was super trendy and modern. He engaged a relationship with the audience when he first stepped on stage and then spread it out throughout the rest of his set, making sure to comment to us every now and again. The behavior of the audience affected my experience by making me feel like I could really let lose. I was cheering for the band and completely enjoying myself. I was glad to have a friend there but was also enjoying the random mingling. Even though this was my first time going to Live on the Green, the performance, location, and the social setting really make me want to attend next year for the whole line up. I was very impressed that the city of Nashville made this available to the public! It just goes to show what they are bringing into their lovely ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Issue Of Tort Law In recent years, tort has been increasingly criticized on its suitability in performing its functions including deterrence, compensation and justice. Along with its inefficiency and the high litigating cost, it has been discussing whether tort should be replaced or eliminating some of the areas. Although tort is not a perfect system, I believe that there are needs of reform for certain areas such as compensation instead of abolishing the tort law. The aim of this essay is to explore the recent criticisms about tort law with further analysis in order to find out whether these criticisms are valid. Certain areas of reform will also be discussed so that to see how we are possible to improve the current tort law system. There are several ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is very similar in terms of the moral inhibition that people normally stop any self satisfying behaviours which would cause harm to the others unreasonablly. People have sense of moral within themselves therefore are not very likely to act harmfully to the others and also avoid to casue any embarrassment. For market force, professionals or businessmen are to aim to attract new customers so they are more likely to act safe and avoid having bad reputation that may affect their career as they provide any dangerous products or servies. It has been suggested that due to the above behavioural control, tort law may not be necessary and have not been doing well to act as a deterrence and is predicted that tort claims are not very likely to rise drastically even tort law is abolished or replaced. Apart from deterrence, compensation is another function of tort law and is also known as the central purpose of it. However, there are increasing arguments against the present system criticising its inefficiency in compensating the accident victims. Firstly, it will lead to excessive compenstation. There are three systems that accident victims can claim for their compensation and they are tort damage, public nuissance and private nuissance. • 4. The Fight for Racial Equality In North Carolina Essay Plessy vs. Ferguson was a landmark decision passed in 1896 that instituted the practice of separate but equal in American society. The separate but equal doctrine was an oppressive system of racial segregation which greatly lessened the rights of all minorities especially in public education. The fight for educational equality made public schools in North Carolina and other states in the south a major area of conflict. Rosenberg and McCloskey, unlike Stempel, are very sympathetic of Iago. I think that when trying to understand the character Iago, first we need to recognize what Shakespeare s original intentions for the play were, and also the style of plays he tended to write, as they all have obvious similarities. Rather than writing about stock characters, which was common in the theater during Elizabethan times, Shakespeare wrote about people who seemed real. On the other hand Rosenberg argues against Stempel, claiming that Iago is an intelligent, cunning character who is like many characters so commonly used the psychological style of writing. McCloskey similar to Rosenberg thinks that Iago was a man who merely set out to seek justice, who had gotten so far that it was too late to remove himself from the situation. After researching and examining the papers of these critics it has become clear that Iago did not carry out evil for the sake of it, he had a motive. (Emerson pg. 3) In this excerpt from The Poet, Emerson is attempting to make a profound statement on the impact poetry plays in every living human being on Earth. He is viewing a poet as the creator of the universe. In doing this he is saying that poetry is something that already exists all around us, it s the job of the poet to capture that and present it through their words. Emerson labels the poet as the man of Beauty, which he believes has a superior calling. The poet is different from the intellectual as he doesn t see any relation between the material world, and the world of thoughts and ideas. Emerson establishes his belief that there is a relationship between the ideal , which is something that we aspire to be, and the real which is one of the central issues in the discussion. Emerson backs up all his points with very heady, and mystical beliefs which adds to the grandiose nature of The Poet. Emerson believes that too many of us have distanced ourselves ... It also allowed Athens to gain more numbers of hoplites, as only Athenian men with money can become a hoplite soldier. I was stunned and she goes on to tell me how the government is trying very hard to make this particular vaccination mandatory. Upon further research, I have discovered that this particular vaccine should not be amongst the mandatory vaccines, because unlike the others this particular disease is not transmitted through the air rather it is through sexual contact and is only effective against a small number of strains identified, in addition, the long term effects are unknown and it is not cost effective. Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a sexually transmitted infection (STI)...it is the most prevalent STI in the United States, with strains causally linked to oropharyngeal and other cancers . (Osazuwa Peters p.1) It is understandable why people want to prevent such a virus. Since the FDA approval of HPV vaccines, in 2006, there have been many positive unobtrusive ways that states have adopted to prevent or control HPV, such as public education about the disease, legislation on funding, HPVcervical cancer screening. However, some states have attempted to mandate children to take the vaccine ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. Dental Hygienist Experience Essay It would be early on Saturday morning in which I roll out of bed to prepare for my internship at Dr. Henkel s place, Horsham Dental Elements. Dr. Henkel acquired the dental center in 1990 after moving the suburbs in Horsham. Many patients would come to this dental clinic, sitting in the waiting lounge as they wait for their name to be announced. Each patient would be directed to the assigned room from the dental specialist (Dr. Henkel Interview). During the procedures for dental hygiene the dental hygienist would often comment on the patient and their overall health of their teeth. Gums look much less swollen. I barely see any plaque? Other times they remark, Are you flossing more regularly? Once the polishing and cleaning was complete the dental hygienist would then mention Wait here, he will be here in just a moment. Who was coming? It was the inspector, Dr. Henkel. The man was as round as a globe. He would dress in his usual green collared shirt, as he waddled down the hallway with his thudding gait. Immediately, once entering the room, he would greet his patients with his warm welcoming smile. In addition, he would sit in his swivel chair, cover his mouth with his surgical mask and then put his dental glasses to carefully examine the x ray screens. • 27. Neruda Poetry Analysis Reflective Statement Neruda Poetry Throughout the interactive oral, we discussed Neruda s beliefs and how they influenced his poetry. Moreover, we discussed how these things not only influenced his writing style, but also his life. Previously, I thought that I could not relate to Neruda because his beliefs differed very much from mine. These beliefs clashed because Neruda is from a Latin American country that is communist, and he is also a communist; while someone like me lives in the United States which is a democracy. Following this, Neruda s work was easier to relate to than I had originally thought because he talks about the Latin American struggle and gave his people a voice in poems such as United Fruit co. when he names the American companies that took advantage of Chile and other Latin American countries. In the IOQ, we as a class think communists are bad because of the way they are displayed in the United States, but the IOQ helped me understand that Neruda was more than a communist. Neruda was a person who used his platform, and took risks writing controversial poems about the struggle of his people to give them a voice, and politics to expose the corruptness of those leaders because they were not only taking advantage of their people but also giving communism a negative connotation. Adding on, Neruda was a strong advocate for communism which influenced his writing also even though he wrote about other communist leaders such as Martinez and Trujillo, his love for communism was shown when he wrote the ode to Fidel Castro. Neruda admires Castro because in his eves Fidel Castro does communism the right way unlike Martinez and Trujillo who took advantage of their countries resources and people. The way Neruda portrays Fidel Castro contradicts the way America portrays him because Castro is characterized as a person who killed anyone that got in the way of his vision of a perfect Cuba, While Neruda characterizes him as hero of communism because he did not corrupt his people by letting American companies take over Cuba and take advantage of the people of Cuba. Overall, the IOQ enhanced my appreciation and understanding of Neruda s work, some of Neruda s work was controversial, yet people could still relate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Megan s Law Research Paper The Unethical Practice of Megan s Law in New Jersey Alexa Luzzi Monmouth University The Unethical Practice of Megan s Law in New Jersey Introduction In the year of 1994, the New Jersey Legislature passed a law known as Megan s Law. The law was named after Megan Kanka, a seven year old girl who was raped and killed in Hamilton Township, New Jersey, by a known child molester who had moved across the street from the family. Megan s Law, in short, created a registration and notification procedure to alert law enforcement, schools, community organizations and neighbors to the presence of a sex offender who authorities believe may pose a risk to the community (Morris County Office of the Prosecutor, 2015, p. 1). States must provide relevant information about these sex offenders to their communities in order to enhance public safety ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He then raped her and strangled her to death with a belt. After this horrific murder, he dumped her body in Mercer County Park. The killing of Megan generated an enormous amount of public outrage. In the wake of the tragedy, the Kanka family sought to have local communities warned about the sex offenders that reside in the area. Shortly after Megan s murder, the New Jersey Legislature began the task of revising New Jersey s sex offender laws. The entire process took less than three months and on October 31, 1994, Governor Whitman responded to public pressure by enacting nine sex offender statutes that have become known as Megan s Law (Brooks, 1996, p. ... • 31. The Relevance of Maps in Natural and Human Sciences In my opinion, a map is a representation of real life situations scaled onto paper, used to further explain, describe and simplify information. It can be in the form of a model, a diagram or an actual map showing features of the earth. When my Geography teacher in Form 4 taught the class about Population, we couldn t really grasp the concept of how to determine the stages of countries in terms of their birth rate and death rate, so he used the Demographic Transition Model that shows the stages of birth rate and death rate as well as population growth of countries to further explain the stages of development in countries, in relation to population. After his explanation of the model, 15 out of 17 students stated that they fully understood the topic as opposed to 5 out of 17 students in the class before the class was introduced to the model. This goes to show that the model successfully simplified the knowledge and aided us in further understanding the topic, thus proving its convenience only when it simplifies knowledge. If it wasn t used to simplify the knowledge, it wouldn t have been relevant in the situation. What I plan to do in this essay is to explore what it means to simplify knowledge as well as discussing the relevance of maps in two areas of knowledge; Natural Sciences and Human Sciences, as well as discuss the extent to which a map simplifies knowledge. Simplifying knowledge means breaking it down from a complex form to a form in which most people would ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Myrtle Rust Research Paper It came, It saw, It conquered The battle lines had been drawn and it had been around for about two years before its first outbreak was witnessed on April 23, 2010 on the coast of New South Wales. The march then continued to the next targets Victoria and Queensland. Over the course of three years, it has become one of the biggest biosecurity threats to Australia s ecosystem. This alien intruder is commonly known as Myrtle Rust. What is Myrtle Rust and how pernicious is it? Myrtle Rust, aka Uredo rangelii, is a fungal plant pathogen native to South America that affects plants in Myrtaceae family, such as Tea tree, Beach Cherry and Bottle Brush (DAFF, 2012). Its advent can be witnessed in the form of small purple flecks and leaf spots on young leaves. It then utilizes its vicious powers to create tiny, raised spots or pustules, which turn powdery distinctive yellow after a few days. It attacks young and new plants and causes them to be stunted, leaves to be twisted and even leads to their death. While the South American trees have some resistance against this aggressor, the Australian ones are more vulnerable. It has the potential to affect up to 80 per cent of Australian native trees and the crusade cannot be stopped once it has occupied the bush lands (NSW Scientific ... It is easier to find things in an organized place than in a messy and cluttered place. By organizing, you know the exact place where things are at and you would not have to spend hours finding them. This is beneficial for us because it helps us to save time as well as energy. Things should be organized in a way so that they are easily accessible. The empty space that is created with organizing makes the house and or the working area look more spacious. Arranging cables and putting them into order automatically creates space. Many a times, there are people, who say they need more space for their stuff. When things are in less or in proper order, you need little space. A smaller home with the proper arrangement maintenance can be sufficient and satisfying for you. Bretherton and Parker (2014) have given evidence that suggests that approximately 200 elderly patients sustain a hip fracture per day in England and Wales. The rate of 30 day mortality which is associated with this injury is 8.2%. Travis et al, (2014) found that in 1990, the global number of hip fractures reported were 1.3 million, it is estimated that this could increase to 21 million by 2050. One reason for this is the need for automobiles that have a lower or a zero carbon footprint. For the majority of the history of the automobile, the propulsion system was a gas or a diesel engine that would run off of fossil fuels. The burning of fossil fuels is very hazardous to our world and also creates much toxic pollution. However, electric cars run off of electricity, which is a very clean and pollution free resource, depending on how the electricity was produced of course. In this paper we are going to examine the history of electric cars, look into modern electric car technology, and peer into the future of electric car technology to see if EVs might be the answer to dramatically reducing our global pollution. In the 1800s the development of the battery and the electric motor led to the first electric vehicles on the road. It is hard to pinpoint the invention of the electric car to just one inventor or country so several inventors have been given credit for the invention of the electric car. A Hungarian named Anyos Jedlik invented a small model car powered by an electric motor in 1828. And roughly between the years of 1832 and 1839, Robert Anderson of Scotland invented a crude electric carriage.
