Human Rights, Democracy, And Peace
In a few decades, the relationship between the environment, resources, and conflict may seem almost
as obvious as the connection we see today between human rights, democracy, and peace (Nobel Peace
Prize Medalist Maathai 2004). TransCanada, a Canadian company, has high hopes of beginning to
build an oil pipeline that would stretch close to 2,000 miles from Alberta, Canada to the Gulf Coast of
Texas. With the approval of construction, the pipeline, known as the Keystone XL, would carry one of
the world s filthiest fuels; tar sand oil. Tar sands oil alone has levels of carbon dioxide emissions that
are three to four times higher than those of conventional oil, due to more energy intensive removal and
refining processes (Friends of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The U.S. uses nearly 400 million gallons of oil every day moving people in automobiles, goods on
freight trucks, air travel, also rail and transit. Cars and everyday trucks use nine million barrels of oil
per day alone (Sierra Club Foundation). Oil poses major environmental problems, and the world s
heavy reliance on it for transportation makes it difficult to reduce consumption. Spilled oil can harm
living things because its chemical components are poisonous. This can affect organisms both from
internal exposure to oil through ingestion or inhalation and from external exposure through skin and
eye irritation. Oil can also smother some small species of fish or invertebrates and coat feathers and
fur, reducing birds and mammals ability to maintain their body temperatures. The short term threat
from heavy oils, like tar sand oil, comes from their ability to smother organisms whereas over the long
term, some long lasting health effects like tumors may result in some organisms (Office of Response
and Restoration). If animals like birds and otters become drenched in heavy oil, they lose the ability to
keep themselves warm and eventually die. The Keystone XL supporters exhaust the idea that
constructing of the Keystone will create thousands of jobs. While that is partially true, the numbers are
exaggerated and unemployment will only raise half of what supporters

Twirling Baton
At age ten, Natalie Jonen went to her first baton twirling camp. At the end of this camp, the counselor
allowed the campers to twirl batons that were on fire. It was then that Natalie fell in love with baton
and, later, fire baton. Since then, she has continued to twirl fire batons for Olympia High twirl
competitively and thus has improved the hand eye coordination necessary for both her sport and her
ambition of becoming a surgeon. With the support of her father and older sister, Natalie aspires to use
her natural talent and hand eye coordination for the greater good. After six years of twirling baton,
Natalie has gone to both regional and national championships for her prowess with the baton and
plans to use her talent to get the baton twirling scholarship at the University of Washington in Seattle,
where she wants to go to medical school. If she doesn t get that scholarship, she plans on collecting
money from other scholarships to fund her education. From there, she will move on to getting her
degree, possibly through a military program that pays for the education and then requires her to serve
a certain number of years in return. When Natalie finishes her militant service, she will have enough
money saved up to travel for a while to places such as Japan , Iceland, Greenland, and as much of
Europe as possible. Afterward, she plans on returning to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

A Critical Analysis Of Merciles Beautee
A critical analysis of Merciles Beautee as compared with To Rosemounde, Hale sterne superne, hale in
eterne and Of my lady wel me rejoise I may.
The courtly lady...possesses a curiously hybrid gender. While maintaining stereotypically female
sexuality, she also holds, in principle at least, the status of a feudal lord. Burns statement insinuates a
reversal of power dynamics between man and woman in the courtly love lyric, implying that the
woman s stereotypical beauty and sexuality in courtship, is a gateway to subverting and overpowering
the lovesick male, making her a superior lord. The Amour Courtois lyric is deemed inconsistent with
the representation of woman as an empowered feudal lord due to the sheer objectification of
femininity and beauty. Poets such as Geoffrey Chaucer and William Dunbar commend a woman s
aesthetic appeal or satirise the lack of it, thus elevating medieval misogynistic expectations of physical
beauty as a feminine necessity that objectifies women under the control of man s advances.
Throughout courtly love lyrics female beauty is a purely frivolous and superficial trait lacking
predominant depth, to render woman as a lord would be poetically conflicting as the only power
exemplified by female subjects in courtship is through the idolisation and sexual lust of the male
devotee.
In Chaucer s Merciles Beautee , feminine beauty is represented as a superficial threat, merciless lust is
the sole weapon of the female against man in the fin

Coming To High School
Is the next big step coming? From middle school to high school? To be a successful student in high
school, incoming freshmen need to listen to directions, study and be prepared, and give full effort best
on testing. A successful freshman always follows the directions the first time they are given. Many
teachers like to explain directions only once and so they do not have to say it multiple times. Teachers
do not like to become repetitive with what they are saying and do not want to say the same thing
multiple times. Listening can also keep a student up with everything to include in an assignment. It is
extremely important to receive all the steps for upcoming tests, projects, or other assignments. This
can help attain a high grade in the class. Lastly, it can keep teachers in a good mood for a class. If the
teacher of the class is in a good mood, the class will be much easier for everyone. Teachers love it
when their students follow directions. Listening to directions is an extremely important things about
freshman year. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tests will include a lot of information that was taught in the class. Classes teach many things at a time,
therefore it is a must that students study and know the information. The material will be much easier
to remember if it is studied. Seeing the information multiple times and outside of the class will help to
remember it and help it to stick to a student s brain, and studying is one of the better ways to do that.
Teachers will always be able to aid students with studying. Study halls, WIN period, and before or
after school would be the greatest times to go in for help with upcoming tests or assignments. Teachers
may be able to help prepare for them. Being prepared for freshman year is one of the keys to doing

Council Of Vatican II
The council of Vatican II was called in 1959 in order to reform the canon law of the Catholic Church.
It was suggested by many that the council focus their energies on reforming liturgical worship. Joseph
Ratzinger, a priest and future pope, used his lecture, The First Session , in order to portray what was
going on at the council and to give his own views. Ratzinger started by identifying the fact that the
opening ceremonies to the council were very long and hard to keep up with, thus discouraging
involvement in the ceremonies altogether. This was representative of what was happening to liturgical
worship there was decreased participation.
In order to remedy the immense decrease in participation in Catholic liturgy, the council proposed ...

The document advocated for a return to ancient origins of liturgy, as well as the removal of historical
attachments in order to maintain the Noble Simplicity . By reforming these aspects, the ritual of
liturgical worship became simpler, and because the ritual was simpler, more people had the capacity
and energy to participate in the ritual. Additionally, the document called for the liturgy to become
more dialogic. By making the Mass like a conversation between the priest and the people attending the
liturgical worship, it actively and directly engages them more, causing a boost in participation.
Another issue that the document dealt with was the issue of governance, and the result was that the
document allowed for the dioceses to have control over their churches liturgical rituals. Because of
this, rituals could be formatted to match the churches cultures and environments, and this would foster
more participation in the liturgy, because more people were able to relate to it and were more eager to
participate. Finally, the issue of language was also dealt with by the document. Churches around the
world would now be able to celebrate Mass using the vernacular. This benefitted liturgies everywhere
because more people were able to actually understand and participate in the Mass, thus increasing full
and active engagement in the liturgical celebrations. Because of the Sancrosanctum Concilium, the
first document of the Second Vatican Council, the liturgy of the Catholic Church was reformed in a
way in which the liturgy would foster full, conscious, and active participation among all

The Great Benefits Of Studying History
One of the greatest benefits of studying history is that it allows an opportunity to learn about the past.
History is presented everywhere in numerous forms and historians like John Merriman allow people to
take a look at the past. John Merriman, a professor at Yale University, is the author of A History of
Modern Europe; this textbook consists of history from the Renaissance to present modern Europe. The
text discusses subjects regarding world wars, revolutions, and colonial completion. Giles Milton,
another historian, wrote Nathaniel s Nutmeg; this text is a narrative non fiction which further
elaborates on the colonial competition of the 17th century. These two historical readings are different;
one reading is a textbook and the other is a narrative non fiction. Different historical texts can operate
to foster different ways of thinking about the past. History presented as narrative non fiction differs
from accounts written by academic historians because of the form of writing, the engagement, and the
opportunity of perspective it offers. Firstly, the difference between these two readings is the form of
writing they contain. A textbook provides factual statements and straightforward information. A
narrative non fiction communicates information or history through a story which includes detailed
descriptions. A textbook can contain precise dates and blunt statements about a given topic. For
example in A History of Modern Europe , Merriman discusses how European

Spirt Controlled Temperament By Tim Lahaye Gets More In
Spirt Controlled Temperament by Tim LaHaye gets more in to detail about your weakest temperament

have a temperament, simple as that. We most likely get our temperament traits from our grandparents.
Which is kind of scary for me, because my grandparents are crazy on both sides. But, through the
grace of God our temperaments can change, and for me that is a true blessing. There are four
temperaments types; sanguine, choleric, melancholy, and phlegmatic. The sanguine are enjoying ,
choleric are very active and strong willed, melancholy are self sacrificing and emotional, and
phlegmatic are the easy going temperaments. Each one of these ... Show more content on

When we look to Christ for help He changes us. We will not be able to tell over night, but years from
now looking back you can tell when filled with the Holy Spirit.
For me what I can relate to is thinking I will notice a change within a day, but as I learned that can
take years. Looking back on my life I have seen how God has kept his hand on me all through life,
even when I was not following Christ. Going to a military school for six months is when change
accrued in my life. Of courses, I knew I was doing something different, but I did not see the change at
the time. Growing up I was surrounded by negative people at home and at school. I can remember one
day I got in trouble at school, so when I got back to my aunt s house, she came in the room I was in
and told me right in front of my cousin, You are an embarrassment to this family. That hit me so hard,
because in the office at school they called me a bully and in the hallways, I was known as a weirdo.
Then at home I was thought of as an embarrassment. I felt nothing but anger and depression, telling
myself, Nobody loves you. Destiny, your own family does not care about you, NOBODY does! The
reason I say the military school changed me is because I had accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and
Savior. I did not see the change right then and there, but I did know God had a plan for me. While I
was in the program I learned that I cannot hold on to the past and let people determine who I am. I was
so lost

Persuasive Essay About Fishing Charters
Fishing charters are a fun activity to partake in when you go on an Alaskan vacation, no matter what
time of year it is. You get to socialize, spend time on the water, see a variety of fish and even catch a
few. While this can be exciting and unlike anything you have experienced before, many people have
made the mistake of bringing certain items with them onto the boat. Depending on these items, the
fishing charter may not be as fun and exciting as you expected. Here are five things you shouldn t
bring on your fishing charter in Alaska. Liquor: Fishing charters want their riders to have have a good

example, a tablet or laptop. Not only is there a risk of these items being stolen, there is also a chance

often when people go on vacation, they don t return home with some of the items they took on the trip
with them, and jewelry is included on this list. For the same reason you don t want to bring electronics
on your fishing charter, you shouldn t bring jewelry. Some pieces, like rings, bracelets and earrings,
can easily slip off and fall into the water. If this happens, there will be a very slim chance of
recovering these items. Weapons: Fishing charters are supposed to be safe for all passengers on board,
as well as the staff. When someone brings a weapon, it is no longer safe for anyone. Not only is it not
a good idea to bring weapons on the boat, it is just not inappropriate. This is because it can make
people uncomfortable and take away from their experience, which is unfair because everyone deserves

Analysis Of Penny Stock Case Study
Penny Stock Case Study
The two stories talk about the meteoric price surge in the stock of a company called Cynk Technology
Corporation, with no actual revenue and tangible assets, and the purported manipulation of the stock
price through a pump and dump strategy. It can be seen how the Securities and Exchange Commission
together with the Department of Justice opened an indictment charging several people with
conspiracy, tax fraud and money laundering involving up to $500 million in assets routed through
offshore shell corporations that allowed clients to influence stock prices and hide their gains.
Generally, the fraudsters take control of an enterprise and offer to sell a chunk of shares usually to the
unsuspecting public with promises of very high returns. Promoters broadcast the company s prospects
by telling financiers to get in early before the rest of the market dives in the pump. Shares are often
bought and sold between fraudsters to give the appearance of active trading, further amplifying
interest as brokers contact clients to buy the stock. Once the price starts rising, the control block can
be dumped on the market, leaving investors with shares in a nearly worthless business (Bouraoui,
Mehanaoui Bahli, 2012). It also parleys the increase of penny stock fraud and the Securities and
Exchange Commission s inability to prosecute the fraudsters and protect investors.

As society starts to progress and increase in size our energy requirements also need to adhere to new

An Open System Of Energy
Due to modern innovations such as globalism, radio, computers, the internet et cetera, most countries
across the world have faced a dramatic increase in consumption. As these countries experience,
exponential population growth, the enormous demand for Energy consumption, and unprecedented
global economic growth, the increase requires that most modern countries face hardly surprising.
However, these requirements lead to most countries facing the issue of sustainability.
In the 1987 Bruntland report, researchers defined sustainability as development that meets the needs
of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs. (Our
Common Future 1987). This definition receives some criticism by scientists ... Show more content on

Some examples of social sustainability include empowering marginalized groups and ensuring high
rates of social mobility in all communities. Economic sustainability consists of maintaining a healthy
and stable economy to ensure prosperity for future generations. As economic issues tend to
marginalized members of society, Economic and social sustainability tend to overlap with each other
regarding initiatives. For practices that promote social sustainability include advocating and
promoting policy change in which benefits the people, contributing to the lives of others, and
investing in social capital that improves the lives of other individuals. As economic factors can lead to
social issues in society, such as fair wages and income inequality, social and economic sustainability
tend to overlap. Environmental Sustainability is defined responsibility using natural resources in a

environmental sustainability include using renewable resources vs. nonrenewable, using resources that
create the least amount of waste possible while maximizing energy output. Such as global warming,

In the novel Othello by William Shakespeare, there is an overall theme of prejudice. Prejudice can be
shown in the novel by the way they treat Othello. In the novel, Mansfield park by Jane Austen we see
the similar theme of prejudice. Othello and Fanny Price are both seen as outsiders that are judged by
the people around them that are close to them. They are judged different ways throughout the novel.
Othello and Fanny Price are being prejudiced because of their appearance. Othello is judged because

decision making in police administration. Narcotics detective Douglas Fackrell was surveilling a
South Salt Lake City residence due to the anonymous tip on suspicious drug activity. Based on his
surveillance he determined that the resident was drug dealing. Detective Fackrell saw Strieff leaving
the residence. He identified and detained Strieff to answer questions about what was going on inside

Assuming but not determining Detective Fackrell did not have enough grounds to stop Strieff at first,
but when he was made known of the arrest warrant; it attenuated the connection with the unlawful
stop and the evidence detained from Strieff incident to his arrest. He discovered the drugs only in the
minutes after his illegal stop. Although he had a valid warrant, it had nothing to do with the discovery
of evidence. The warrant only allowed Detective Fackrell to arrest Strieff, but his search of Strieff s
incident to that arrest was considered lawful. The detective was careless in nature and called his
judgment to be questioned. Did he violate Strieff s Fourth Amendment rights? Although his conducted
an unlawful stop, his conduct was lawful, and there are no signs that the stop was part of any systemic
or police misconduct. At this point, Detective Fackrell s judgment should not constitute a warrant
suppression. He was not there just to poke at Shierff. He was there to gather information about his
investigation. Strieff says otherwise due to the absence of probable cause.
The court determined a baseline or how they were going to exclude evidence based on the Fourth
Amendment violation. Dismissal is only necessary when the benefits outweigh its costs. The
exclusionary rule is very vital in determining if the police officer s conduct was unlawful. By
excluding the illegally obtained evidence, courts minimized the temptation of the

Cooking Is Cooking Essay
Cooking is a necessity for everyone. Everyone in their life time needs to learn how to cook because

Fastball Research Paper
A changeup is an offspeed pitch thrown just like a fastball except held with a different grip. There are
many ways to hold a changeup. You can palm the ball to make it slow down, or you can use all five
fingertips and hold the ball on the end of them. There is also the circle changeup grip. This pitch is
best thrown when the batter is ahead of your fastball and with the same arm speed upon release as the
fastball, so they won t see it coming.
Curveball
A curveball is a pitch thrown about as fast as a pitchers changeup but with a break on it. An awesome
12 6 curveball moves straight up and down vertically, but some pitchers throw it with a little
horizontal movement on it. A curveball is gripped by placing your fingers on the outside of the wide

The End Of Remembering And Susan Griffin s Our Secret
Memory what it is, how it works, and how it might be manipulated has long been a subject of curious
fascination. Remembering, the mind boggling ability in which the human brain can conjure up very
specific, very lucid, long gone episodes from any given point on the timeline of our lives, is an
astounding feat. Yet, along with our brain s ability of remembrance comes also the concept of
forgetting: interruptions of memory or an inability of consciousness to make present to itself what it
wants (Honold, 1994, p. 2). There is a very close relationship between remembering and forgetting; in
fact, the two come hand in hand. A close reading of Joshua Foer s essay, The End of Remembering ,
and Susan Griffin s piece, Our Secret , directs us ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Susan Griffin, a feminist writer and finalist for the Pulitzer Price in non fiction, explores the concept
of forgetting in her chapter Our Secret . Unlike Foer, Griffin (1992) doesn t seem to be too much a fan
of remembering, describing memory to be like a long, half lit tunnel, a tunnel where one is likely to
encounter phantoms of a self, long concealed, no longer nourished with the force of consciousness,
existing in a tortured state between life and death (p. 258). In fact, Griffin might argue that there are
several benefits to forgetting, and that the collective memories of a traumatic past should not be
remembered or preserved. Failure to retrieve memories may not always be a bad thing, in fact,
unwanted memories of childhood trauma, emotional rejection, or any of life s inevitable
disappointments have the ability to torment and mentally exhaust a person. Throughout her essay,
Griffin explores the hidden shame and pains that several characters carry, herself included, and the
consequences they bring. She writes of one woman s memories of the cold war, who, as a young child,
witnessed shoes in great piles. Bones. Women s hair, clothes, stains, a terrible odor , all of which left
her sobbing and screaming in fear (Griffin, 1992, p. 233). Another gruesome account Griffin (1992)

Conflict Theory
Conflict theory is the theory that human behavior in social contexts is the result of conflicts between
competing groups, as different social groups, be they class , gender or race defined, have unequal
power and access to power, yet all groups compete for limited resources. This inevitably gives rise to
tension and conflict, albeit often of the subtle variety, as oftentimes the conflicts between groups have
been institutionalized in society to such a degree that the conflicts and tensions are such an expected
part of society that the conflict, and inequality, itself disappears from public sight, and consciousness.
For example, an adherent of a world systems theory of conflict would point to the global competition
for resources, particularly the inequality between rich and poor nations struggling to provide the basic
necessities of life to their inhabitants, as evidence of global conflict. Conflict theories seek to explain
the interactions of groups within society, and assert that social order is preserved involuntarily through
the exercise of power one social class holds over another (Lindsey, 2010, 7). The conflict between
groups is not always obvious or apparent, so it must be unraveled and examined in order to identify
and establish the impact of such conflict on society as a whole, as well as individual members and
social groupings. Feminist conflict theory is concerned with the role and status of women in society,
particularly within the context of analyzing gender

Death In Ancient Egyptian Culture
Beauty in death. It is not a phrase one hears often. Throughout time people have sacrificed their life
trying to avoid the clasps of the Grim Reaper. Journeys to find the fountain of youth, deals with the
devil, all strategies to avoid the unavoidable. Civilization after civilization has tried to somehow
overcome death, but what about those who discover its sublime. The great civilizations, the Ancient
Greek and Egyptians, did just that. Death to them wasn t a cessation of life, it was a new beginning.
Looking at their burials and rituals one can identify their respect and admiration for the deceased and
discover similarities and contrasts in their nature that help us appreciate their art more and

Both civilizations put a lot of work to make sure that the deceased had a lavish new home. Both
cultures put a lot of emphasis in representing the deceased. The Greeks would sculpt these great

these funerary masks for the deceased royal that were yielded out of gold and delineated with with

were made and passed down through generations orally and through scriptures. The Greeks and
Egyptians placed high emphasis on their Gods to help them in their transition to the afterlife.
Nevertheless the Egyptians and Greeks had their difference in some facets of their beliefs and rituals.
For the Ancient Egyptians, the body and soul would be together in the afterlife, for the Ancient Greeks
it was only the soul that traveled to the underworld. With this belief in mind, the reason for the
difference in materials for burial purposes is more understood. The Egyptians wanted to preserve the
body, while the Greeks did not care for it after the

Examples Of Escapism In Pan s Labyrinth
Pan s Labyrinth and how Escapism can Ruin you. In Pan s Labyrinth, the character of Ophelia
represents how escapism s disconnect from reality might cause damage to relationships and severe
injury or death. Towards the beginning of the story, Ophelia s discovery of the fawn and the revelation
of her being, The daughter of the king of the underworld, shows how she uses escapism as a means of
creating a fictitious world that helps her avoid the new, horrible life that she endures under her
stepfather. However, the adventures that this fantasy sends her on creates a strain in her relationships
with her mother and stepfather, which becomes evident when her mother reprimands her saying, You
have disappointed me, and your father too. Furthermore, when the faun gives her a mandrake root as a
remedy for her mother s illness, it demonstrates how Ophelia uses escapism as an outlet for her fear,
and as a means of feeling like she has some control over whether her mother lives or dies. However,
when the mother burns the mandrake root shouting, Magic does not exist. Not for you, me or anyone

Man On Wire Analysis
In an extremely rare occurrence, I watched Man on Wire twice in 24 hours. I enjoyed the movie,
which I watched because of Adam Kempenaar s continuous praise, but I don t love it enough to merit
that second viewing. On the contrary, the first time I watched it was at 11 p.m. and I had been up since
4:30 that morning. So my mental faculties weren t at their peak, and I began to doze off even though I
liked the documentary. So I watched it again the next day, at a better time and with more sleep, to help
me clarify why I think this is a very good but not great film.
Man on Wire, James Marsh s 2008 documentary, chronicles the story of Philippe Petit, an eccentric
French tightrope walker who dreamed of performing on a wire between the Twin Towers. ... Show

The walk is gratifying and somewhat beautiful and moving, but you don t quite know why. Maybe it s
because it s fun to see Petit, in photographs, finally realize his dream. Maybe it s the payoff of seeing
the heist accomplished. Maybe it s the poignancy of seeing someone with such joy atop what became
a symbol for tragedy and loss on 9/11. Regardless of the reason, you certainly feel a swell of emotion
when you see the images of Petit on the wire.
With all that being said, I do think a few things hold Man on Wire back from becoming a truly great
movie. One of those is that the lines between the recreations and archival footage that Marsh uses is
often blurred. That bothered me for some reason, possibly because I d like to know which one is the
truth.
I eventually thought, however, that I don t think documentaries can truly show us objective reality, so
that shouldn t matter. I also thought it didn t matter what was real footage and reconstructions because
regardless the talent displayed in these segments actually happened and is impressive. Despite these
conclusions, I still found myself pulled out of the movie when I couldn t deduce if the images

State Party System Pros And Cons
Devolelopement of the state party system:
This section deals with California s history as a party system. If you go all the way back to 1850 when
the state of California had its first governor campaign the winner was a man named Peter Burnett a
independent democrat raised in Missouri. All of the other positions including Lt. Governor, Attorney
General, Secretary of State, and Treasurer were also all independent democrats. The democratic party
developed right at the start and thrived fro the next 5 years with a clean sweep. Going into 1856 is
when the republican party started to really show their colors in the state of California. Throughout this
time the republican party was off and on with holding office chairs but the democratic party I would ...

With this new system parties are no longer required for having someone chosen to run for general
election or even congressional elections. In doing this in a sense all the candidate are grouped together
this is what s known as a party preference. Then like most elections the two top winners battle it out
the crazy thing is these two candidates can be from the same party so a democrat could be facing a
democrat and a republican could face off against another republican. There is really no change with
presidential primaries this is just for the state and local level. There are other states that do this as well
such as Louisiana, and Nebraska. There are some pros and cons to this way of a party system just like
any party system nothing is perfect but I really like this way due to the fact that the top two favorites
will battle it out even if its two people from the same party. There are some rules in California when it
comes to finances and taking money from downers. All money donated needs to be kept of file and
tracked. A campaign treasurer has to be appointed no matter what money cannot be accepted from
outside sources if a treasurer isn t appointed yet this is a huge rule in California. A treasurer must keep
track of documents. Certain forms have to be filled out after 1000 dollars have been raised or spent.
Contributions of all kind are ok but they need to be tracked and documented the only issue is you can
accept cash over the extent of 100 dollars. Money laundering has been an issue in California and that
absolutely not allowed. In a nutshell always fill out the proper paperwork for finances keep good
records of who donated and never take money without so and candidates cant pay extreme expenses

Theoretical Background
Feminism
Play is a source of significant theoretical insight in anthropology and other disciplines (Huizinga
1970; Turner 1982). Feminist research is explicitly directed towards comprehending evolving social
factors affecting women. (Harrison and Fahy 2005:702) and also provides a framework for
understanding the contribution of women in sports to development (Birrell 2005:61). The research in
this proposal is rooted in this idea, and holds that women s participation in sports is a feminist issue
deserving of research and theory development (Harrison and Fahy 2005:702). Many scholars in the
study of sociology of sports use feminist theory to understand power and gender relations (Birrell
2005:61; Coakley 2009:39). According to Smith [2010:98], issues of gender are core to social life and
this fact makes the concerns of masculinity and femininity essential. Critical feminist theorists have
stressed the importance of critiquing and changing the culture and Pfister and Kristin 2013:208) the
body and physicality of sports so that they represent the perspectives and experiences of women as
well as men (Maguire 2002:207; Coakley 2001:39). The aim of feminist theory is to expose gender
inequalities (Jarvis and Watts 2012:67) and imbalance in terms of funding, programs, facilities, media
coverage of women s sports (Messner 1988:207) and pay inequalities [Women s Sports Foundation
2011]. In a related

Violence In Dashiell Hammett s The Maltese Falcon
Humans are drawn to acts of a primal nature. Raw, passionate, and vastly entertaining; primal instincts
have always been at the root of human behavior. Archeologists say that the first humans were found
with spearheads embedded in their ribcage. Mankind s curiosity will always be sparked by the thought
of bloodshed. Just look at the entertainment we as a species hold most dear; violent action films,
movies about war, videogames based solely on the concept of killing the opponent, the list in never
ending. The fascination around violent acts is understandable. Since the invention of society, the act of
killing another human has been frowned upon by the rest of society. The contrast of the acts of
violence to the norms of everyday life are hard ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This mystery follows the escapades of Sam Spade as he hunts for the missing Maltese Falcon, and the
killer of his partner. Spade is described as a Blond Satan (1). This is not a rather flattering way of
describing your protagonist, and Hammett knew this. He knew that when solving crimes, one must
place himself into the mind of the criminals to truly understand their reasoning. To do this for a living
will take its toll, as Hammett knows all too well from his life as a private detective in L.A. His private
eye is gruff, cynical, and drinks far too much alcohol. Spade is known for being far too honest at times
saying, people lose teeth talking like that (94) when trying to gain information. These are the coping
mechanisms that Hammett gives Spade to show his readers the human aspects of him. Spade might
not be the most enjoyable company but if you give him a case to solve he will give his all to solving it.
This sounds like another brilliant detective from the past. Sir Doyle would understand why Sam Spade
is an effective detective just by looking at his habits. Sherlock Holmes and Sam Spade are akin to one
another in the fact that they are both fallible humans with a knack for solving mysteries. Hammett is
brilliant in the way he uses the influence of perhaps the first hardboiled detective to add a human side
to the private eye. This type of writing is far above the caliber expected of a pulp fiction author, and to
this day literary scholars site The Maltese Falcon was vastly ahead of any other work in its weight
class. (Smith, 178) Dashiell Hammett proved the worth of an entire subgenre, and helped the
hardboiled detective become a part of American literature. To this day, when people think of the
private eye they jump straight to the cliché of a tough man of few words drinking bourbon and hunting
down the bad guys in a dark city street. This is

Human Rights Act Of 1998
Rights that protect human beings and the extent of legality of what they are entitled to as people are a
core part of each constitution globally. The extent of human rights protection varies from country to
country, with total democracies having most human rights that encompass freedom of speech and
expression among other freedoms. These are the most sovereign of laws as they express how liberal
and powerful the majority can be as opposed to the minority being powerful in some countries or
kingdoms. In some countries, the part of the constitution (just answer legal) is referred to as the Bill of
Rights. In the United Kingdom, they are referred to as the human rights act of 1998. It was previously
referred to as the Bill of rights though. As expressed in the UK parliament official website, the Human
rights Act came into life in 1998 to bring rights home (www.parliament.uk, 2014).
Section 3 of the 1998 Human Rights act has equally been center of controversy and light about various
issues as who decides the extent to which the human rights stretch. The human rights act expresses the
human rights that are contained in the European Convention (Jeeves) on Human rights as part of the
UK laws in three forms as follow:
The UK laws should be interpreted in so far as possible to do so, to reflect the consideration for the
human rights act.
If Parliament passes an act that is in contravention with the Human rights act, the courts have the

Ryanair s Pricing Strategy Of Ryan Air
Ryanair positioned itself as a low cost airline, which delivered services equivalent to that of British
Airways and Aer Lingus. In terms of service quality, they positioned themselves in the same category
as the aforementioned airlines, but at the same time, charging a relatively low price when compared to
British Airways and Aer Lingus. Their strategy was to deliver first rate/ good quality customer
services and offer meals and amenities comparable to that of British Airways and Aer Lingus. The
second strategy was to charge a single fare ticket of I£98 on it Dublin London service, which was very
low when compared to British Airways and Aer Lingus s rate of I£208 or I£99 if booked in advance.

This reaction of Ryanair s competitors will be discussed more lately in this paper. Given that Ryanair
is a new airline, chances of survival will be slim if they engage in a price war.
If all is in favor of Ryanair, they will be able to acquire a sizeable portion of its competitor s market
share for that route, as well as acquire new customers from other transport options such as trains and
ferries, by offering a faster commute. To compare the price with competitors and consider this
opportunity for Ryanair s service between Dublin and London, Ryanair should estimate the cost and
the possibility of seats sold by using British Airways revenue and cost in exhibit 4 of the case study.
From the exhibit 4, Ryanair can calculate the possibility of seats sold by finding the ratio of customers
who do not book the seat of British Airways in advance and compare to its own seats available
annually. The British Airways average revenue per passenger equals to I£166.5. Also, British Airways
is selling its ticket at the price of I£208, and I£99 for early advance booking. Therefore, only around
38.07% of British Airways customers bought the seat in advance, while the rest, 61.93%, paid for full
amount of I£208. That means the round trip passengers around 309,633 persons out of a half million
paid at the price of I£208. On the other hand, Ryanair would run only four

Automobiles in the 1950s Another element that was present in the 1950 s was automobiles.
Automobiles were something that everyone once dreamed of owning. Now after the war. they could

The caddy tail fins continued to grow until they reached there height in 1959 when they were almost

As the number of automobiles increased so did the number of road trips that people were going on. All
of the traveling motorists needed places to stay. This brought about the development of the motel.
Motel combines the words motorist and hotel . By the mid 1950 s the smaller quaint motor lodges of
the 30 s and 40 s no longer could compete with rising motel corporations like Howard Johnson or Best
Western. These corporations designed their motels to be comfortable and practical for those staying in
them. They also built them with a standard design. The catchy facades of the older motels were no
longer attracting the customers. Motels also started franchising and referral chains. A referral chain
would consist of several motels that form a union and refer customers to the other hotels in the union.
Some large franchises that started in the 1950 s were Super 8 and Holiday Inn. These franchises soon
spread out all over the country and put the smaller mom and pop motels out of business. With the
number of road trips increasing the destinations that they were traveling to were also bringing in more
people.
These destinations included national parks, family camps, wilderness areas such as the beach and the

of which had not been previously reported. They found that among the loci that they identified, there
was no evidence of non additive or epistatic effects. 75% of the 108 loci identified in this study
include genes that code for proteins and an additional 8% are located within 20kb of a gene. They
found that there was an association with CACNA1C, CACNB2, and CACNA1I, which code for
subunits of voltage gated calcium channels and have been suggested to play a role in other psychiatric
disorders in addition to schizophrenia. Quantitative trait loci, those that regulate the expression of
mRNA, were also implicated in conferring a risk for schizophrenia. There were also higher levels of
expression of schizophrenia risk genes in tissues associated with immune function, which supports the
hypothesis that immune dysregulation plays a role in schizophrenia. They also found that copy
number variations that were linked to schizophrenia overlapped with those that are associated with
autism spectrum disorder and other intellectual disabilities (Schizophrenia Working Group of the
Psychiatric Genomics Consortium, 2014). However, some scientists hypothesize that genes alone are
not sufficient for the development of schizophrenia

The Righteous One Follows God, Not The Unrighteous ( Vv )
A. The righteous one follows God, not the unrighteous (vv. 1 2)
The psalm begins by declaring that the righteous one is ‫אשרי‬. The word is usually translated blessed,
or happy. It is distinct from ‫רּוְך‬‫ָב‬ (also translated blessed ) in that the latter invokes the beneficent work
of God on persons and groups, while ‫אשרי‬ is a beatitude and points to and commends the conduct and
character that enjoys [God s blessing]. Neither word is perfect, because ‫אשרי‬ describes both secular
and spiritual happiness, and Brown suggests truly happy as a translation that captures both.
This is followed by three parallel phrases describing how the righteous one is not like the unrighteous.
Each line contains a different verb describing what the righteous one does not do, a different object
noun describing an aspect of the unrighteous, and a different genitive noun used to name the
unrighteous.
The three verbs translated literally are walk, stand, and sit, and are three of the most common verbs in
the Hebrew language. All of these verbs can be used metaphorically, as is the case here. These three
verbs are all are in the perfect tense, and VanGemeren comments that this indicates the godly are never
involved with anything tainted with evil.
I don t know if you can show that using the perfect tense means absolutes in this instance. However, it
s worth observing that these are the only indicatives that are clearly in the perfect mood in the whole
psalm. All of the other

  • 2. Human Rights, Democracy, And Peace In a few decades, the relationship between the environment, resources, and conflict may seem almost as obvious as the connection we see today between human rights, democracy, and peace (Nobel Peace Prize Medalist Maathai 2004). TransCanada, a Canadian company, has high hopes of beginning to build an oil pipeline that would stretch close to 2,000 miles from Alberta, Canada to the Gulf Coast of Texas. With the approval of construction, the pipeline, known as the Keystone XL, would carry one of the world s filthiest fuels; tar sand oil. Tar sands oil alone has levels of carbon dioxide emissions that are three to four times higher than those of conventional oil, due to more energy intensive removal and refining processes (Friends of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The U.S. uses nearly 400 million gallons of oil every day moving people in automobiles, goods on freight trucks, air travel, also rail and transit. Cars and everyday trucks use nine million barrels of oil per day alone (Sierra Club Foundation). Oil poses major environmental problems, and the world s heavy reliance on it for transportation makes it difficult to reduce consumption. Spilled oil can harm living things because its chemical components are poisonous. This can affect organisms both from internal exposure to oil through ingestion or inhalation and from external exposure through skin and eye irritation. Oil can also smother some small species of fish or invertebrates and coat feathers and fur, reducing birds and mammals ability to maintain their body temperatures. The short term threat from heavy oils, like tar sand oil, comes from their ability to smother organisms whereas over the long term, some long lasting health effects like tumors may result in some organisms (Office of Response and Restoration). If animals like birds and otters become drenched in heavy oil, they lose the ability to keep themselves warm and eventually die. The Keystone XL supporters exhaust the idea that constructing of the Keystone will create thousands of jobs. While that is partially true, the numbers are exaggerated and unemployment will only raise half of what supporters ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It was then that Natalie fell in love with baton and, later, fire baton. Since then, she has continued to twirl fire batons for Olympia High twirl competitively and thus has improved the hand eye coordination necessary for both her sport and her ambition of becoming a surgeon. With the support of her father and older sister, Natalie aspires to use her natural talent and hand eye coordination for the greater good. After six years of twirling baton, Natalie has gone to both regional and national championships for her prowess with the baton and plans to use her talent to get the baton twirling scholarship at the University of Washington in Seattle, where she wants to go to medical school. If she doesn t get that scholarship, she plans on collecting money from other scholarships to fund her education. From there, she will move on to getting her degree, possibly through a military program that pays for the education and then requires her to serve a certain number of years in return. When Natalie finishes her militant service, she will have enough money saved up to travel for a while to places such as Japan , Iceland, Greenland, and as much of Europe as possible. Afterward, she plans on returning to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The courtly lady...possesses a curiously hybrid gender. While maintaining stereotypically female sexuality, she also holds, in principle at least, the status of a feudal lord. Burns statement insinuates a reversal of power dynamics between man and woman in the courtly love lyric, implying that the woman s stereotypical beauty and sexuality in courtship, is a gateway to subverting and overpowering the lovesick male, making her a superior lord. The Amour Courtois lyric is deemed inconsistent with the representation of woman as an empowered feudal lord due to the sheer objectification of femininity and beauty. Poets such as Geoffrey Chaucer and William Dunbar commend a woman s aesthetic appeal or satirise the lack of it, thus elevating medieval misogynistic expectations of physical beauty as a feminine necessity that objectifies women under the control of man s advances. Throughout courtly love lyrics female beauty is a purely frivolous and superficial trait lacking predominant depth, to render woman as a lord would be poetically conflicting as the only power exemplified by female subjects in courtship is through the idolisation and sexual lust of the male devotee. In Chaucer s Merciles Beautee , feminine beauty is represented as a superficial threat, merciless lust is the sole weapon of the female against man in the fin ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Council Of Vatican II The council of Vatican II was called in 1959 in order to reform the canon law of the Catholic Church. It was suggested by many that the council focus their energies on reforming liturgical worship. Joseph Ratzinger, a priest and future pope, used his lecture, The First Session , in order to portray what was going on at the council and to give his own views. Ratzinger started by identifying the fact that the opening ceremonies to the council were very long and hard to keep up with, thus discouraging involvement in the ceremonies altogether. This was representative of what was happening to liturgical worship there was decreased participation. The document advocated for a return to ancient origins of liturgy, as well as the removal of historical attachments in order to maintain the Noble Simplicity . By reforming these aspects, the ritual of liturgical worship became simpler, and because the ritual was simpler, more people had the capacity and energy to participate in the ritual. Additionally, the document called for the liturgy to become more dialogic. By making the Mass like a conversation between the priest and the people attending the liturgical worship, it actively and directly engages them more, causing a boost in participation. Another issue that the document dealt with was the issue of governance, and the result was that the document allowed for the dioceses to have control over their churches liturgical rituals. Because of this, rituals could be formatted to match the churches cultures and environments, and this would foster more participation in the liturgy, because more people were able to relate to it and were more eager to participate. Finally, the issue of language was also dealt with by the document. Churches around the world would now be able to celebrate Mass using the vernacular. This benefitted liturgies everywhere because more people were able to actually understand and participate in the Mass, thus increasing full and active engagement in the liturgical celebrations. Because of the Sancrosanctum Concilium, the first document of the Second Vatican Council, the liturgy of the Catholic Church was reformed in a way in which the liturgy would foster full, conscious, and active participation among all ... • 9. The Great Benefits Of Studying History One of the greatest benefits of studying history is that it allows an opportunity to learn about the past. History is presented everywhere in numerous forms and historians like John Merriman allow people to take a look at the past. John Merriman, a professor at Yale University, is the author of A History of Modern Europe; this textbook consists of history from the Renaissance to present modern Europe. The text discusses subjects regarding world wars, revolutions, and colonial completion. Giles Milton, another historian, wrote Nathaniel s Nutmeg; this text is a narrative non fiction which further elaborates on the colonial competition of the 17th century. These two historical readings are different; one reading is a textbook and the other is a narrative non fiction. Different historical texts can operate to foster different ways of thinking about the past. History presented as narrative non fiction differs from accounts written by academic historians because of the form of writing, the engagement, and the opportunity of perspective it offers. Firstly, the difference between these two readings is the form of writing they contain. A textbook provides factual statements and straightforward information. A narrative non fiction communicates information or history through a story which includes detailed descriptions. A textbook can contain precise dates and blunt statements about a given topic. For example in A History of Modern Europe , Merriman discusses how European ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Going to a military school for six months is when change accrued in my life. Of courses, I knew I was doing something different, but I did not see the change at the time. That hit me so hard, because in the office at school they called me a bully and in the hallways, I was known as a weirdo. Then at home I was thought of as an embarrassment. I felt nothing but anger and depression, telling myself, Nobody loves you. Destiny, your own family does not care about you, NOBODY does! The reason I say the military school changed me is because I had accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. I did not see the change right then and there, but I did know God had a plan for me. Shares are often bought and sold between fraudsters to give the appearance of active trading, further amplifying interest as brokers contact clients to buy the stock. Once the price starts rising, the control block can be dumped on the market, leaving investors with shares in a nearly worthless business (Bouraoui, Mehanaoui Bahli, 2012). Remembering, the mind boggling ability in which the human brain can conjure up very specific, very lucid, long gone episodes from any given point on the timeline of our lives, is an astounding feat. Yet, along with our brain s ability of remembrance comes also the concept of forgetting: interruptions of memory or an inability of consciousness to make present to itself what it wants (Honold, 1994, p. 2). Susan Griffin, a feminist writer and finalist for the Pulitzer Price in non fiction, explores the concept of forgetting in her chapter Our Secret . Unlike Foer, Griffin (1992) doesn t seem to be too much a fan of remembering, describing memory to be like a long, half lit tunnel, a tunnel where one is likely to encounter phantoms of a self, long concealed, no longer nourished with the force of consciousness, existing in a tortured state between life and death (p. 258). In fact, Griffin might argue that there are several benefits to forgetting, and that the collective memories of a traumatic past should not be remembered or preserved. Failure to retrieve memories may not always be a bad thing, in fact, unwanted memories of childhood trauma, emotional rejection, or any of life s inevitable disappointments have the ability to torment and mentally exhaust a person. • 22. Conflict Theory Conflict theory is the theory that human behavior in social contexts is the result of conflicts between competing groups, as different social groups, be they class , gender or race defined, have unequal power and access to power, yet all groups compete for limited resources. This inevitably gives rise to tension and conflict, albeit often of the subtle variety, as oftentimes the conflicts between groups have been institutionalized in society to such a degree that the conflicts and tensions are such an expected part of society that the conflict, and inequality, itself disappears from public sight, and consciousness. For example, an adherent of a world systems theory of conflict would point to the global competition for resources, particularly the inequality between rich and poor nations struggling to provide the basic necessities of life to their inhabitants, as evidence of global conflict. Conflict theories seek to explain the interactions of groups within society, and assert that social order is preserved involuntarily through the exercise of power one social class holds over another (Lindsey, 2010, 7). The conflict between groups is not always obvious or apparent, so it must be unraveled and examined in order to identify and establish the impact of such conflict on society as a whole, as well as individual members and social groupings. • 25. Man On Wire Analysis In an extremely rare occurrence, I watched Man on Wire twice in 24 hours. I enjoyed the movie, which I watched because of Adam Kempenaar s continuous praise, but I don t love it enough to merit that second viewing. On the contrary, the first time I watched it was at 11 p.m. and I had been up since 4:30 that morning. So my mental faculties weren t at their peak, and I began to doze off even though I liked the documentary. So I watched it again the next day, at a better time and with more sleep, to help me clarify why I think this is a very good but not great film. Man on Wire, James Marsh s 2008 documentary, chronicles the story of Philippe Petit, an eccentric French tightrope walker who dreamed of performing on a wire between the Twin Towers. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The walk is gratifying and somewhat beautiful and moving, but you don t quite know why. Maybe it s because it s fun to see Petit, in photographs, finally realize his dream. Maybe it s the payoff of seeing the heist accomplished. Maybe it s the poignancy of seeing someone with such joy atop what became a symbol for tragedy and loss on 9/11. Regardless of the reason, you certainly feel a swell of emotion when you see the images of Petit on the wire. With all that being said, I do think a few things hold Man on Wire back from becoming a truly great movie. One of those is that the lines between the recreations and archival footage that Marsh uses is often blurred. That bothered me for some reason, possibly because I d like to know which one is the truth. I eventually thought, however, that I don t think documentaries can truly show us objective reality, so that shouldn t matter. I also thought it didn t matter what was real footage and reconstructions because regardless the talent displayed in these segments actually happened and is impressive. Despite these conclusions, I still found myself pulled out of the movie when I couldn t deduce if the images onscreen were archival footage or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. State Party System Pros And Cons Devolelopement of the state party system: This section deals with California s history as a party system. If you go all the way back to 1850 when the state of California had its first governor campaign the winner was a man named Peter Burnett a independent democrat raised in Missouri. All of the other positions including Lt. Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, and Treasurer were also all independent democrats. The democratic party developed right at the start and thrived fro the next 5 years with a clean sweep. Going into 1856 is when the republican party started to really show their colors in the state of California. With this new system parties are no longer required for having someone chosen to run for general election or even congressional elections. In doing this in a sense all the candidate are grouped together this is what s known as a party preference. Then like most elections the two top winners battle it out the crazy thing is these two candidates can be from the same party so a democrat could be facing a democrat and a republican could face off against another republican. There is really no change with presidential primaries this is just for the state and local level. There are other states that do this as well such as Louisiana, and Nebraska. There are some pros and cons to this way of a party system just like any party system nothing is perfect but I really like this way due to the fact that the top two favorites will battle it out even if its two people from the same party. There are some rules in California when it comes to finances and taking money from downers. All money donated needs to be kept of file and tracked. A campaign treasurer has to be appointed no matter what money cannot be accepted from outside sources if a treasurer isn t appointed yet this is a huge rule in California. A treasurer must keep track of documents. Certain forms have to be filled out after 1000 dollars have been raised or spent. Contributions of all kind are ok but they need to be tracked and documented the only issue is you can accept cash over the extent of 100 dollars. Money laundering has been an issue in California and that absolutely not allowed. • 27. Theoretical Ethnographic And Conceptual Background Theoretical Ethnographic and Conceptual Background Theoretical Background Feminism Play is a source of significant theoretical insight in anthropology and other disciplines (Huizinga 1970; Turner 1982). Feminist research is explicitly directed towards comprehending evolving social factors affecting women. (Harrison and Fahy 2005:702) and also provides a framework for understanding the contribution of women in sports to development (Birrell 2005:61). The research in this proposal is rooted in this idea, and holds that women s participation in sports is a feminist issue deserving of research and theory development (Harrison and Fahy 2005:702). Many scholars in the study of sociology of sports use feminist theory to understand power and gender relations (Birrell 2005:61; Coakley 2009:39). According to Smith [2010:98], issues of gender are core to social life and this fact makes the concerns of masculinity and femininity essential. Critical feminist theorists have stressed the importance of critiquing and changing the culture and Pfister and Kristin 2013:208) the body and physicality of sports so that they represent the perspectives and experiences of women as well as men (Maguire 2002:207; Coakley 2001:39). The aim of feminist theory is to expose gender inequalities (Jarvis and Watts 2012:67) and imbalance in terms of funding, programs, facilities, media coverage of women s sports (Messner 1988:207) and pay inequalities [Women s Sports Foundation 2011]. Raw, passionate, and vastly entertaining; primal instincts have always been at the root of human behavior. Archeologists say that the first humans were found with spearheads embedded in their ribcage. Mankind s curiosity will always be sparked by the thought of bloodshed. Just look at the entertainment we as a species hold most dear; violent action films, movies about war, videogames based solely on the concept of killing the opponent, the list in never ending. This mystery follows the escapades of Sam Spade as he hunts for the missing Maltese Falcon, and the killer of his partner. Spade is described as a Blond Satan (1). This is not a rather flattering way of describing your protagonist, and Hammett knew this. He knew that when solving crimes, one must place himself into the mind of the criminals to truly understand their reasoning. To do this for a living will take its toll, as Hammett knows all too well from his life as a private detective in L.A. His private eye is gruff, cynical, and drinks far too much alcohol. Spade is known for being far too honest at times saying, people lose teeth talking like that (94) when trying to gain information. These are the coping mechanisms that Hammett gives Spade to show his readers the human aspects of him. Spade might not be the most enjoyable company but if you give him a case to solve he will give his all to solving it. This sounds like another brilliant detective from the past. Sir Doyle would understand why Sam Spade is an effective detective just by looking at his habits. Sherlock Holmes and Sam Spade are akin to one another in the fact that they are both fallible humans with a knack for solving mysteries. Hammett is brilliant in the way he uses the influence of perhaps the first hardboiled detective to add a human side to the private eye. This type of writing is far above the caliber expected of a pulp fiction author, and to this day literary scholars site The Maltese Falcon was vastly ahead of any other work in its weight class. (Smith, 178) Dashiell Hammett proved the worth of an entire subgenre, and helped the hardboiled detective become a part of American literature. In terms of service quality, they positioned themselves in the same category as the aforementioned airlines, but at the same time, charging a relatively low price when compared to British Airways and Aer Lingus. Their strategy was to deliver first rate/ good quality customer services and offer meals and amenities comparable to that of British Airways and Aer Lingus. Given that Ryanair is a new airline, chances of survival will be slim if they engage in a price war. If all is in favor of Ryanair, they will be able to acquire a sizeable portion of its competitor s market share for that route, as well as acquire new customers from other transport options such as trains and ferries, by offering a faster commute. To compare the price with competitors and consider this opportunity for Ryanair s service between Dublin and London, Ryanair should estimate the cost and the possibility of seats sold by using British Airways revenue and cost in exhibit 4 of the case study. From the exhibit 4, Ryanair can calculate the possibility of seats sold by finding the ratio of customers who do not book the seat of British Airways in advance and compare to its own seats available annually. The British Airways average revenue per passenger equals to I£166.5. Also, British Airways is selling its ticket at the price of I£208, and I£99 for early advance booking. Therefore, only around 38.07% of British Airways customers bought the seat in advance, while the rest, 61.93%, paid for full amount of I£208. The word is usually translated blessed, or happy. It is distinct from ‫רּוְך‬‫ָב‬ (also translated blessed ) in that the latter invokes the beneficent work of God on persons and groups, while ‫אשרי‬ is a beatitude and points to and commends the conduct and character that enjoys [God s blessing]. Neither word is perfect, because ‫אשרי‬ describes both secular and spiritual happiness, and Brown suggests truly happy as a translation that captures both. This is followed by three parallel phrases describing how the righteous one is not like the unrighteous. Each line contains a different verb describing what the righteous one does not do, a different object noun describing an aspect of the unrighteous, and a different genitive noun used to name the unrighteous. The three verbs translated literally are walk, stand, and sit, and are three of the most common verbs in the Hebrew language. All of these verbs can be used metaphorically, as is the case here. These three verbs are all are in the perfect tense, and VanGemeren comments that this indicates the godly are never involved with anything tainted with evil.
