Civil Liberties And Airport Security
Are the civil liberties of the citizens of the United States sacrificed during the airport security checks
with the use of body scanners for the sake of national security? This week thousands of Americans
will board airplanes to head to their Thanksgiving destinations, and they will need to undergo several
security checks in order to advance to their flight. Since September 11, 2001, the vulnerability and
fear arose in the United States citizens about the security tactics in place to protect our nation. One
area of concern was the airport security measures that allowed al Qaeda and their associates to take
control of United State s airplanes to carry out their plan of attack. The fear of another terrorist attack
taking place on the airplanes resulted in extraordinary security tactics immediately emerging to protect
the citizens. Further instances of other threats required more advanced security equipment to be
installed, such as the body scanners. Statistics revealed there were an estimated 793 scanners (full
body scanners) in use in March 2016 in more than 157 airports in the United States (Jansen). All of
these security measures have taken place with the expense of sacrificing civil liberties. Although, the
body scanners were developed to protect the people, the civil liberties of the United States citizens are
sacrificed for the sake of national security through invasion of privacy, inefficiencies, misuse, and
expense.
To begin, in general, civil liberties are

Roof Coatinging Case Study
Extending the service life
If your roof coatings objective is based on increasing the service life, then your best roof coating
candidates should have a sound existing roof with proper attachment of all system components,
flashings and trim. If you select roof areas with existing defects in construction, detailing and
terminations, correcting deficiencies prior to installation of a new coating system. In insulated
assemblies, the insulation should be dry, without a history of leaks and presence of trapped moisture.
Verify roof areas have positive 1/4 + slope to drain. Note: dead flat areas that pond water, even when
the coating may be tolerant of standing water, ponded areas collect debris and silt that increase heat
cycling and can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When faced with system alternatives, the facility manager should verify the scope of work is similar,
materials specifications, preparation steps, installation QA, detailing, to maintain the anticipated
service life. A price reduction with a service life reduction can increase the annual costs per year.
When asked, facility managers can defend a coating project from a lower cost alternative with
documentation from the roof coating selection process. Unfortunately, without the project documents
to show the comparison, coating suppliers and bids look very similar to a buyer. The example below
gives a quick comparison of how a lower cost alternative can increase your annual cost.
The project for roof recoating costs X to purchase (capital) and ongoing maintenance (expense) is
added until the roof has reached its service life. Example: Coating Roof Section: 17,000 s/f Capital
Purchase $24,000, life time expenses $ 4,000.00. Final life time cost $ 28,000.00, service life 14 years
the is $2,000.00 per year. If you take a lower bid of $21,000.00 even when life time expenses remain
at $ 4,000.00, if the alternate service life is reduced to 10 years your annual cost increases to $
2,500.00

Americans With Disabilities Education Act Essay
There are many different enforced laws towards people who have disabilities. Many of these laws
benefit the people who need them. One of the biggest deaf laws is IDEA, but there are many others
including, The Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
Without these laws the deaf community wouldn t grow and have become what it is today. These acts
have been in place for years and help indulge the deaf in their magnificent world. The IDEA
(Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) act is a law that ensures that students who are hard of
hearing or deaf receive a suitable education. This law was first established by the congress in 1975 as

The section states, no qualified individual with a disability in the United States shall be excluded
from, denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity that
either receives federal financial assistance (Gallaudet University). It gives students who are hard of
hearing or deaf full access to school, public activities, and events including after school events.
Section 504 also happens to apply to post secondary institutions, such as colleges. Some students may
not be eligible for 504, the article states, Students not eligible for an IEP may be eligible for protection
and support under Section 504. In order to determine a child s eligibility under Section 504, school
districts must perform an evaluation. Schools must establish standards and procedures for these
evaluations, as well as periodic re evaluations. To be eligible for a support under Section 504, an
individual must be determined to: have a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one
or more major life activities; or have a record of such an impairment; or be regarded as having such an
impairment (Gallaudet University). School districts are required to provide free and appropriate public
education under Section 504. Children who are also served with IDEA already have been resolved a
disability, therefore they are eligible for both protections. The Americans with

Research Paper On The Hippocampus
The hippocampus is part of the Limbic System (Wright, n.d.). According to Wright, the hippocampus
formation is found in the temporal lobe of the brain. The study of the hippocampus is vital in
understanding how it governs human behaviors. As perceived, the brain is a complex machine and
through understanding its crucial parts in the processing of information would give a clear
understanding and precautions to people on how to protect their brain from memory loss and other
similar diseases. In addition, Wright explained that the hippocampus is directly linked to the
entorhinal cortex and the fornix. That is to say that the output pathways of hippocampus passed
directly to the entorhinal cortex and the fornix before reaching other anterior structures. What is more,
not only do outputs coming from hippocampus are passed through the entorhinal cortex, but both parts
are also directly connected to one another which includes the amyglada (Wright, n.d). Why is this part
of the study? As elaborated by Wright, both entorhinal cortex and amyglada are structures that are
connected to several parts of the brain. Thereby, all areas of the brain that are connected to aforesaid
structures could be affected by hippocampus. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
King, Hartley, Vargha Khadem and Burgess (2004) concluded that the hippocampus has a key role in
spatial memory, that includes recollection of stored spatial information (p. 11). Similarly, Maguire et

case of taxi drivers and in some other species. Alternatively, another study presented that the
hippocampus has a key role in the ability of black capped chickadees in food hoarding (Smulders,

The Purpose Of Flashback
Dare to Dream begins with my all time favorite film technique Flash Back. The women start by going
by into the 80 s looking a photographs of themselves taking it back to where it all started. Flashbacks
gives us visual information that cant be shown to us in any other way. The purpose of the flashback is
to connect the past with the present to show give an insight of the characters to show whats going on
moving forward. The flashbacks takes us back in history in where they were stereotyping women in
sports to what they were willing to do and endured during the time. It shows how this group of
outstanding women elevated soccer to the level of achieving World Cup victories and greater
viewership than for any other soccer match in U.S. history.

Brief Summary Of The Article Lying Is Okay
Lying Is Okay But little white lies is human nature. Everybody does that. Lying is Untruthful marks
and false statements and mostly everybody does it. Lying is okay but when it comes to specific
expectations and serious actions and hurting someone s internal and external feelings. Lying can help
you get out of many multiple things especially when it s not a big deal and when ur trying not to hurt
anyone s feelings. For example in the article, lies lies lies, by, Time , Magazine states that, lies protect
others, or I love your dress. It supports my evidence by explaining how it gets you out of multiple
situations and things that may not be a big deal. It helps to not hurt ur friends or anyone s specific
feelings. Additionally I choose this article because it goes with my topic sentence and it matches
everything i m explaining. Another way to say this, No one expects, and few would welcome, searing
honesty at a dinner party. Yet, The couple who leave early, saying the baby sitter has a curfew, would
not be thanked by the hostess if the truth were told: Frankly, were both bored to tears. It s okay to lie
but for something to deal with. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, in the article, conflicted about lying, by NBC.com, it states , Not only is lying justified,
it is sometimes a moral duty. The article Conflicted About Lying helps support my reasoning. The
article helps out with backing up my examples and gives details like Cohen says , An obvious example
is when you re lying to protect someone from serious harm. Secondly, This article is supporting my
reasoning about lying is okay only when it s in the right way. It s easier than telling the truth.
Especially like its okay to lie in certain situations, like protecting someone s feelings. Lying is okay

Great White Shark Informative Speech
They have 300 serrated teeth, a torpedo shaped body and swallow their prey whole. Can anyone one
tell me what sea creature this is? Yes. It s the Great White Shark.
Introduction:
Hey everyone, I m Nino and today I will informing you all about the most fierce and feared predator
in the sea. In this speech I will be discussing the evolution, the physiology, its ecological niche and
propose a postulate for the future health and survival of the Great White Shark. The Great White is
scientifically known as the Carcharodon carcharias and is considered a carnivorous killing machine
which is at the top of its food chain. This fish has been around for hundreds of millions of years and
its evolution has enabled it to develop some extraordinary abilities ... Show more content on

The Great White is ovoviviparous, which mean that the shark grows in an egg which is then hatched
inside the mother. Once the shark pup is born it stays in the womb for a short period of time where the
embryos feed on unfertilized eggs which is referred to as oophagy. The gestation period is the time
that the eggs are in the womb until they hatch which is estimate to around 12 to 18 months. Lastly, is
the litter size which ranges vastly for the Great White from two to ten pups. The new born measures to
5 feet (1.5 metres) and weighing 77 pounds (35Kg). However, the reason as to why the Great White
doesn t breed as fast as other animals is because they have a slow growth rate to maturity and a low
reproductive rate which is a worry for the survival of its kind in the future as they only live up to the
age of 30 years old.
Population:
The estimation of the Great Whites Shark is set to be estimated at 2000 however recent studies
indicate that this number has decreased by 50 % and the already threatened species is closer to
extinction that was hoped for. To prevent this animal for becoming extinct a number of countries have
vowed to protect the Great White Shark and they are South Afric, Namibia, USA, Australia and Malta.

Slit Drum History
The evolution of the drums has varied from being made from a simple wood log, to having a hollow
object covered in rawhide, to being completely electronic. Like any instrument, each one produces a
different sound. Some may sound light like a snare, deep like a bass, or metronomic by simply
producing a clicking noise to keep count. Some are completely electronic, even.
Starting from one of the oldest drums in the world, the slit drum is an instrument originating from
Africa that is made from a hollow piece of wood or carved from bamboo. They are typically made
with three slits, (hence the name slit drum ) each one producing a different tone. Like most drums, slit
drums can be played using rubber mallet or with the tips of your finger tips. Unlike today, where we
have telephones and social media to talk to one another long distantly, this instrument was once, and
probably still is, used as a form of communication. For war cries, signaling, storytelling, and
ceremonies. The djembe drum is made somewhat like the slit drum. Made with a hardwood that is
hollowed out, however, this drum is made with a piece of animal hide covering the top of it. It is also a
bit like the slit drum in a sense that it is mainly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This drum is estimated to be around five to eight hundred years old, and was created during the
Malian Empire by the Mande people. What s different from the djembe drum than any other drums
created is that it is very spiritual to make them. One has to make a sacrifice and get permission to cut
down a tree to make it. After it is cut down, typically the wood is custom fitted to specifically fit the
drummer. It s a tradition to this day that you have to be born into in order to play, or be interested in
playing the djembe drum. Children are typically taught how to play with coffee cans on the side of the
road or with pots and pans. Sounds familiar,

Grade Inflation And High Grades Inflation
Grade inflation, the idea that students are receiving grades that they have not worked for and therefore
don t deserve them. But what s so wrong about grade inflation? When learning about this subject we
also open the doors to learning about the multitude of other problems plaguing our educational system
that could use our attention much more than grade inflation does. Through grade inflation we re able
to understand problems often forgotten about and looked over. In the past colleges like Princeton and
Wellesley have tried to adopt policies to help curb grade inflation. Even though it lowered the
percentages of high grades, effectively lowering the amount of grade inflation, it came with the cost of
unforeseen consequences that affected the students and staff. In his article Rojstaczer describes the
policy that Princeton tried to adopt in which they ...limit[ed]ing A s on average to 35 percent of
students in a class. ( grade inflation gone wild , 75). This policy is extremely unfair on the students,
telling them that only a small percent of them will actually be able to get and A no matter how hard
they work. It is putting a limit on the students education and ruining their motivation to keep their
grades up if they know that there is a high percent chance that they won t make an A despite their hard
work. These attempts to fix the inflation has only in turn limited a student s education and potential,
causing greater issues. Since attempting to fight grade

Where did the Chinese workers emanate from?Railroad workers recruited by labor contractors came
mostly from Guangdong (Canton) province, especially Siyi (四邑Sze Yap, denoting four counties:
Taishan台山, Kaiping开平, Xinhui新会 and Enping恩平). Without them it would be infeasible to
consummate the western portion of this great national enterprise, within the time required by the Acts
of Congress. Soon the Chinese labor pool from California was exhausted, and the Central Pacific
arranged with labor contractors to import sizably voluminous numbers of Chinese workers directly
from China. The railroad did not list most individual Chinese workers by name in their payroll
records, and instead listed headmen of work crews or labor contractors who distributed pay to the
individuals on the crew. However, Chinese workers worked longer hours and had to pay their
headmen or contractors for their own lodging and pabulum and even for their implements; on the
other hand, the Central Pacific and Coalescence Pacific provided white workers accommodations,
aliment, and implements without adscititious cost. Desperate for work, workers from this component
of Guangdong boarded ships for California and other components to fortify their families. What were

Capstone Project Part 2 Pre litigation Research Memo
To: Maxine Ifill
From: Paralegal, Sherrie Eustace
Re: Sue Davis v. Gary Steele
Date: September 12, 2013
ASSIGNMENT Review authorities provided to determine probable answers to the issues.
FACTS
Our client, Sue Davis, was in a car accident in Yankton, South Dakota. Sue sustained massive head
injuries, and the paramedics did not think that she would make it to the hospital alive. Once all was
said and done Sue incurred $400,000.00 in medical bills, $45,000.00 in lost wages, and $50,000.00 in
property damage to her Bentley.
ISSUES

Who are the parties to the lawsuit? Analyze ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yankton County, South Dakota would also be proper for personal jurisdiction beings that the accident
did take place in Yankton County. According to the State Bar of South Dakota the Circuit Courts of
Yankton County, South Dakota is also proper for subject matter jurisdiction; circuit courts hear civil
lawsuit cases, divorce cases, adoptions, guardianships, felony, and criminal proceedings. This
particular case falls under a civil case.
According to the civil procedures in the State of South Dakota, the parties to this law suit would be
Sue Davis as plaintiff, because she is the party whom has commenced the law suit action and claims to
have incurred losses due to the defendant s actions. She will be the one who will deliver the summons
to the defendant, Gary Steele. Gary Steele would be identified as the defendant, because Sue is taking
action against him for the accident.
CONCLUSION
Our client appears to have a solid case, but there are steps that we should take to better position our
client for litigation.
RECOMMENDATION/DISCOVERY PLAN The steps that I recommend that we take to better
position our client for litigation would be to outline a discovery plan:
1. Review Objectives What does our client want? Recover physical property? (Bentley) Get rich from

Biodiversity, Or Biological Diversity
Introduction: Biodiversity, or biological diversity, is a term first coined in 1985 by Walter G. Rosen
concerning the number of species in a particular habitat and revolved around the idea that diversity
cannot solely be understood through numbers (Maclaurin and Sterelny, 2012). However, before 1985
biodiversity was related to concepts of genetic diversity and ecological diversity . This allowed to
further define ecological diversity with species richness as the number of species in a community of
organism . Biodiversity is more than just the amount of species in an area but rather better measured
by taxic measures, molecular measures, and phylogenetic measures (Harper and Hawksworth, 1994).
Today, zoologists have estimated that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Our method of capture was the pitfall trap (digging a hole in the ground and placing a cup) that was
filled with isopropyl alcohol. The independent variables for this experiment included location (habitat
1 vs habitat 2) and sun vs shade. The way biodiversity was measured through the arthropod collection
project by primarily using statistics including the sum of individual specimens, the sum of taxa, and
evenness. The sum of individual specimens allows for the depiction of abundance. The sum of taxa is
better known through richness or more specifically how common a certain arthropod is. Lastly, using
the Burger Parker index, evenness is the lack of dominance which is known as 1/Pm (UNO
Department of Biological Sciences,1999).
Methods:
This experiment was conducted in New Orleans and Kenner, Louisiana which are located in Orleans
and Jefferson Parish, however, Kenner is more suburban rather than city. Conducting this experiment
required setting out eight pitfall traps (four in each habitat) which were labelled cups one through
eight. This experiment was conducted over the time frame of three weeks in order to collect
approximately 100 200 arthropods. Every day for three weeks, cups (pitfall traps) were placed in two
different habitats (Kenner and New Orleans) and put out every morning and picked up every night.

King Lear Influences
A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is like a tree without roots
(Garvey). Garvey s allusion to a tree s roots depicts the human experience and the importance of
understanding our past. Everyone sees the tree (plays), but not necessarily the roots (the background
story ) that make these works classic. These influences define the works, affecting them in ways
unseen to the human eye. The roots give the tree life. William Shakespeare utilizes numerous
influences to make his plays unique. He employs many Elizabethan Era themes, characterization
techniques, and culture in his writing. All of these impacted his life in the late 1500s and provided
both underlying main points and details for his plays. It is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The audience already has an idea of the history behind the plays, and this affects how people view the
characters and what judgements they have before they even watch the plays with conflicts such as
male v. female, old v. young, and many others. Shakespeare has an even amount of his strongest/main
characters being both male and female, but this does not mean he does not use gender roles to make
the stories more believable. In King Lear, Shakespeare, through Lear, is supporting these roles by
saying: suspend thy purpose if thou didst intend/to make this creature fruitful (King Lear 1.4.289 290),
and is indicating that the woman s only job is to give birth, and so the worst curse for them would be
to get rid of the one thing they are actually meant to do. But, Shakespeare has many examples of
breaking the gender norms, and Antony and Cleopatra is arguably Shakespeare s most gender
redefining play (Moss, Antony and Cleopatra 296). In one of the opening scenes, Caesar states, the
lamps of night in revel, is not more manlike/Than Cleopatra, nor the queen of Ptolemy/ More
womanly than he (Antony and Cleopatra 1.4.5 7), which shows that women are supposed to be
womanly, but Egypt s ideals are backwards. While in Egypt it is fine, in Rome, Antony would be
mocked. Antony and Cleopatra also spends time defining two types of women, if beauty, flashiness,
and riggishness do not settle, /Wisdom and modesty can harbour /The heart of Antony, Octavia is/A
blessèd lottery to him (Antony and Cleopatra 2.2.265 266, 274 276). Both women are represented
here, Cleopatra as beautiful and ambitious, while Octavia is more obedient, wise and modest, but
Shakespeare or his characters never state which is better, but rather they are both equal in different
senses. The generation problem is also evident in Shakespeare s plays, especially in King Lear. Lear is
old, and his first daughter

The concept of access to justice embodies the formal conception on one side, and substantive
conception on the other. The formal conception of access to justice is considered to indicate abilities
of people to have access to courts of law and other tribunals in a reasonable and effective manner
coupled with the opportunity to receive legal services from qualified professionals. Access to justice in
this way embraces the concept of the equality before the law which is the foundation of human rights

Reaction Paper On Arrhythnia
The heart is the most complex organ in the human body and without it, the body cannot survive. If the
heart does not respond the way its suppose to, it can cause major health altercations or even death. As
time has progressed, technology has progressed as well. Scientists have discovered many procedures
to help the heart stay in rhythm. Some of the most famous and common procedures discovered are the
pacemaker and heart valve replacement. These procedures have become easier over time and are the
most reliable procedure to keep the heart functioning. Scientist have also found solutions for
arteriosus, which is a defect in the heart that happens right after birth. Doctors are using pacemakers to
send electrical impulses to keep the heart in rhythm, replacing or fixing defective valves for proper
circulation, and surgeries to clamp PDA. These heart procedures are common and useful.
The pacemaker is a complex device that sends electrical impulses to the heart to keep it in a normal
rhythm. Most of the time doctors implant pacemakers to treat arrhythmias. Arrhythmias are problems
with the rate or rhythm of the heartbeat. During an arrhythmia, the heart can beat too fast, too slow, or
with an irregular rhythm (MedicineNet). Arrhythmia has two different stages and they re called:
bradycardia and tachycardia. Tachycardia is the condition where the heart beats too fast and
bradycardia is the condition where the heart beats too slow. The pacemaker then changes the defective

Design Of Image Capture, Display, Colour Processing And...
INTRODUCTION
Aim: Throughout this laboratory we aimed to understand the processes used to achieve the
development of image capture, display, colour processing and finally object tracking. In particular, we
aim to learn the I2C protocols to program the registers used to configure the camera, how to convert a
raw image to a full colour image, detect a selected colour and then track it.
Block Diagrams and images for the image processing steps:
The block diagram in Figure 1, illustrates the processing blocks that were created to being the image
processing steps. It also shows the variables created in the code and how they interact to produce the
initial output of display an image from the camera to the screen. The clock for the 640x480 (frame
size 800x525) display image runs at a frequency of 25.2 MHz and the clock for the camera runs at a
frequency of 48.825 MHz to synchronize the display. The I2C setup, involves using I2C protocols to
program registers within the camera. It is a two wire protocol, where one wire acts as the clock to pass
from the FPGA to the device, and the other wire is the data wire which is bidirectional. The data wire
is a top level entity and requires the setup module to have 3 data connections. These are input data
from the camera to the controller, output data from the FPGA controller to the camera and output
enable (tristate control), which determines whether the data is input or output.
Producing the image on the VGA display, involves using

Prince Rogers Nelson Biography
Prince Rogers Nelson, the artist known as Prince who Thursday became formerly with a devastating

Rhetorical Analysis Of Mother Teresa
Mother Teresa continued her uses of pathos in her speech by recalling a past experience she had with a
poor woman. She reflected on the poor people as great people which allowed the audience to see them
as something other than a stereotype. She remembered how the poor woman thanked her and many
others about the importance of abstaining and having self control in regards to having children. As she
died, the woman looked at Mother Teresa, said
Thank you , and died with a smile on her face. She told her audience this story to get them to see a
side of people that they didn t necessarily know about. They got to see how this woman was poor and
yet she still died smiling and thankful for what life had given her. Mother Teresa wanted the ... Show

They know how to bring peace and love back into the world and their own relationships.
Mother Teresa closed her speech by repeating her call to action and doing so in a way that affects the
audience s emotion. She told them to remain faithful to God and to give until it hurts. She said, Let us
make that one point: That no child will be unwanted, and also that we meet each other always with a
smile, especially when it was difficult to smile , reflecting on the idea that peace begins within their
own hearts. She concludes her speech claiming, If you become a burning light in the world of peace,
then really the Nobel Peace Prize is a gift of the Norwegian People. God bless you , which emphasizes
how she appreciated her audience. Mother Teresa repeats to the audience that peace is within them and
that they should be the ones with such a wonderful award. She blesses her audience which allows
them to feel the love and care from Mother Teresa herself and from her speech. By doing so, this
fosters the audience s ability to listen and change their ways in order to create a better world.

Who Is Maria In The Sound Of Music
Film: The Sound of Music
Character: Maria
Maria is a free spirited, gentle, kind character who is driven almost to a fault to be a role model for the
children she is trusted to care for. She loves children and her point of view comes from a kind
religious background, but religion is rarely mentioned in the film.
Maria is a caucasian, straight female who appears to be in her early thirties. She is a very humble
character who does not judge based on external appearances. Prior to her occupation as The
Governess, she resided at an abbey. Psychologically she appears to be free spirited. We do not know
anything about her political viewpoints, although she does run away from the Nazi party in Austria as
it comes to power. Physiologically she is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Party. He has to make a decision whether or not to turn them in.
She partially achieves her goal. She does build a relationship with the guy. But it does not last. As a
result they are not together.
She doesn t really have a character arc. She takes on less of a motherly role by the end of the story as a
result of Maria s presence.
Character: Friedrich von Trapp
Frederich has a very tough exterior. He is forced to be the man of the house when his father leaves on
long trips. Inside, he just wants to be a child. His point of view is of the oldest male of the children.
Physiologically he is blonde haired, blue eyed, and reasonably tall for a 14 year old. He is a strapping
young man. Sociologically he is the man of the family because his father is often on long trips away
on Submarines ships.
Friedrich does not have much of a goal for the story. The only goal he really has is to just be a normal
kid.
This goal does not change.
The stakes are that he will not become the full man he is meant to be.
This goal does not put him in conflict with other characters.

Friendship In John Knowles s A Separate Peace
In life, a person is never able to stay in contact with every person they have met. An acquaintance is
no exception to this idea; friends will come and go, and this is inevitable. Sometimes a companion will
move away, never to be seen again, cut themselves off, never to be heard from again, or pass away,
never to do anything again. One bad occurrence can make or break a relationship. It all depends on
whether the resolution of it will cement a life long friendship or a lifelong schism. Any relationship
can be complicated, to the point of making no sense at all. This is similar to what John Knowles writes
about on his novel, A Separate Peace. Knowles writes of one of his main characters, Gene Forrester,
experiencing some of the themes above. Gene causes his friend Finny s leg to be broken, and Knowles
uses the resulting events to convey the idea that a friendship does not always have to make sense for it
to exist. In nearly every major interaction involving Gene, he consistently exhibits behavior which
would certainly sabotage his relationship with Finny and other peers. He harbors harsh and strong
emotions, which eventually do make themselves clear to the person they belong to. For example, Gene
begins a conspiracy against Finny, thinking, Finny had deliberately set out to wreck my studies (53).
Even after Finny eventually resolves the complications between himself and Gene, he still falls victim
to Gene s latent emotions a short moment after the reconciliation. In a

Winter Pruning Makes It Easier To Optimize Branch Structure: Though Japanese maples may be

that, with the leaves out of the way, it s much easier for you to see the plant s branch structure. Having

Essay On Sharpen My Instruments
On Thursday, September 28th my morning and afternoon patients cancelled the night before. After
making a few phone calls I was able to schedule my patient NN for the afternoon. It worked well
because her next appointment was scheduled for November 10th since that was my next Thursday
appointment on my schedule. During the morning since I did not have a patient, I decided to sharpen
my instruments because my afternoon patient had a lot of supra and subgingival calculus and I wanted

The Effects Of Global Warming On Global Temperature
As decelerating the negative impacts of rising global temperature becomes increasingly important, a
myriad of techniques to slow or reverse the effects of global warming are being researched and
implemented. Among these are economic incentive programs designed to encourage large
corporations to produce fewer green house gases (GHGs), investment in sustainable technology and
behavioral education, and so on. Some of the up and coming approaches to achieving more sustainable
global temperatures are known as geoengineering, which involves projects that attempt to prevent
global temperature increase by reflecting to space sunlight that would otherwise warm Earth or by
removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere (Caldeira et al.). Both solar radiation management
(SRM) and carbon dioxide removal (CDR) strategies offer attractive options for reducing global
temperature rise. CDR proposals include the sequestration of atmospheric CO2 in trees via
reforestation, the creation of wetland ecosystems, and modification of ocean upwelling, among others
(Caldeira et al.). SRM strategies are a bit more creative, with options like whitening clouds and
making plants more reflective to reflect solar radiation off earth s surface and from the stratosphere.
One of the more controversial emerging SRM strategies is the injection of aerosols, namely sulfate,
into the stratosphere in order to scatter the solar radiation back to space and as a result reduce global
mean temperatures (Caldeira et

Ohio State University Traffic Investigation Report
Introduction
Maintaining a safe environment for all students, staff, and visitors on campus is one of the Ohio State
University s greatest concerns. As one of the most common and dangerous threats to student safety,
traffic safety is always a vital consideration. Due to pedestrian complaints, the university has directed
their attention Woody Hayes Drive and Olentangy River Road. The team has been appointed to
approach this issue using a spot speed method. The purpose of this experiment was to collect and
evaluate traffic speed data in the area in order to determine if further action from the university is
necessary to improve traffic safety.
The next section, experimental methodology, describes how the experiment was setup, carried out, and
the conditions in which the experiment took place. Section 3 displays the results that were obtained
from the experimental procedure, as well as provides a brief description as how the data were
evaluated. Section 4 attempts to create a logical interpretation as to what the results mean, as well as
identify any potential errors that may have skewed the results. Finally, section 5 summarizes the
report, and suggests conclusions for the results posed throughout the experiment and potential
solutions to errors discussed in section 4.

Suffering Of The Good Samaritan
Suffering performs a significant function in numerous religions, concerning situations like:
consolation or relief; moral behavior, spiritual development through life difficulties or through self
enforced trials, and final destiny. It is supplemented in the Hebrew Bible by the verses found in the
Book of Isaiah and the Book of Jeremiah. They detail the emotional and physical suffering of a
defeated nation with its vanquished residents compelled into the suffering of expulsion and
confinement in a foreign nation. In the New Testament, suffering is depicted in the life of Jesus, which
recounts the suffering of the crucifixion, and in the Easter story. The suffering connected with
punishment is additionally depicted in the Apocalypse of John where suffering at the setting of the
Last Judgment is portrayed as the just compensation for sin and unlawful activity. Pope John Paul II
wrote On the Christian Meaning of Human Suffering. This article focuses on the idea of redemptive
suffering. The parable of the Good Samaritan belongs to the Gospel of suffering. For it indicates what
the relationship of each of us must be towards our suffering neighbour...This is the meaning of
suffering, which is truly supernatural and at the same time human. It is supernatural because it is
rooted in the Divine mystery of the Redemption of the world...deeply human, because in it the person
discovers himself, his own humanity, his own dignity, his own mission. The following are two reports

more intensely than its competitors, it is able to generate 20% of its revenue from freight operations.

Soccer Is The Beautiful Game
Though different places of the world may call it differently, all can agree on the fact that soccer truly
is the Beautiful Game. No other game has such an international popularity and prominence, with an
unmatched ability to unite fans and players over a great passion. Unfortunately, the game s
overarching organization is stained by unwanted headlines of corruption and fraud that has forced
experts to question why they have such a consistent history of misconduct. Specifically, looking at
FIFA s decision to award Qatar with the 2022 World Cup can provide insight into the corruption and
dishonesty of their operations. What does this FIFA s extensive history of corruption mean for the
future of the Beautiful Game?
What is FIFA? The acronym FIFA stands for Fédération Internationale de Football Association and it
is the governing body for professional soccer around the world. The organization is headquartered in
Zurich, Switzerland yet it oversees soccer, futsal and beach soccer in every corner of the globe.
Founded in the year 1904, FIFA contains 209 national associations and is responsible for organizing
the FIFA World Cup, the most watched sporting event in the world (Business Insider). The World Cup
allows the organization to generate millions of dollars in revenue via selling their broadcasting,
television and marketing rights to large companies all over the world. In 2014 alone, the World Cup in
Brazil saw over $4 billion raised through the month long event. Yet, FIFA is technically a non for
profit group despite the massive sums of money they are able to collect. For a price tag of $425
million, FOX bought the rights to the 2018 and 2022 World Cup and recently, they had their license
extended until 2026 despite FIFA not allowing other company s to bid (Business Insider).
Who is in charge of FIFA? Today, they are in the middle of restructuring their executive leadership
and they have been in this phase ever since 2015. Sepp Blatter was re elected as President of FIFA on
May 30, 2015 was after his previous term from the late 1980 s. On June 2, 2015, Sepp Blatter resigned
from his role amid intense corruption allegations (WM News). Sepp Blatter and FIFA have had a

Comparison Of Excellent Adventure, Memento, And The Birds
Bill and Ted s Excellent Adventure, Memento, and The Birds. These are just three examples of
upcoming reboots that intend to make a quick buck at the box office.
Nothing causes more drama among the movie community than the announcement of a reboot or

warrant it. But sometimes it s difficult to ignore a remake, especially if it concerns an old movie that I
particularly like.
One of my favourite films is RoboCop, so as you can imagine, I was furious when I learnt of the
proposed reboot. I knew it would be awful, and any hope I had for it being decent quickly faded once I
had cast my eye upon the rubber robo suit for the first time.

Total Recall

The Use Of Rggt Inhibitors Doesn t Exhibit Any Toxicity...
The use of RGGT inhibitors doesn t exhibit any toxicity in mouse models (Taylor et al., 2011). This is
supported by comparison to gunmetal mice that harbour a RGGT mutation leading to 80% reduction
of RGGT function. There are mild dysfunctional phenotypes such as hypopigmentation and altered
platelet synthesis. This suggests that a decreased RGGT activity, such that Rab proteins would be
hypoprenylated, would not be lethal if targeted (Recchi and Seabra, 2012). The decrease in RGGT
activity is only specific to certain tissues, leading to the idea that this mutation does not affect all Rabs
equally (Hume, et al. 2001).
NE10790 is a phosphonocarboxylate analogue of the more potent bisphosphonate risedronate (BP
RIS), and contains a carboxylate group instead of a phosphonate group. NE10790 is a specific
inhibitor of RGGT, whereas BPs are non specific inhibitors of Rab prenylation. They act on farnesyl
diphosphate synthase to inhibit prenylation of a variety of proteins such as Rho and Ras, seen in
Figure 9 (Gong, Altman and Klein, 2011). The use of BPs in clinical trials has been successful in
decreasing mortality from lytic bone disease in multiple myeloma. There is also evidence of anti
tumour effects, such as apoptosis and arresting the cell cycle, as well as in other tumour cell types
associated with bone. BPs have also been investigated in vitro on breast and prostate cancers, as they
commonly metastasise to bone. Studies show inhibition of invasion and adhesion to bone,

there is one person who showed really how strong they really were and, that person was Pat Tillman.
Pat Tillman was a strong man along with a strong character. Tillman was born in Fremont California
on November 6, 1976 and died April 22, 2004 while serving his country. Tillman was married for two
years to a woman named Marie Tillman. Pat Tillman was modest, determined, and a person with a
great work ethic.
Pat Tillman was modest, the word modest means to not boast about accomplishments and Pat Tillman
always showed this trait. Tillman presented his modesty when interviewed after a high school football
game, he stated, I didn t play particularly well. The team played great. He never wanted to talk about
just him, he talked about his team. Another piece of evidence showing Tillman s modesty, when he
talked to people, he never spoke to them as if they were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of many things that will always be remembered is when Tillman said that he wasn t particularly
the best player on the team but, he always had a big heart. Something like that will always be
remembered, every person who struggles on a team should know something like this. Something else
showing Tillman s strong work ethic is when he made a commitment he always followed through. For
example, when Tillman said he was going to run that marathon he made a commitment and followed
through with that commitment. One last piece of evidence, the word passion always meant something
to to Pat Tillman. He stated that he wanted to be remembered by his passion. And his passion of
playing football kept him playing and trying, another time is when the passion to become a soldier
came upon him. His passion to serve his country was a big thing to him. Pat Tillman was always a
person with a strong work ethic and he will always be remember for

The Heat Transfer Of A Forced Draft Cooling
Abstract
The aim of this experiment is to analyse the heat transfer of a forced draft cooling water tower and to
perform energy and mass balances on the system. The system consisted of a single cooling tower
where the heated water flowed down the tower, while air flow was directed against the water flow. In
the system the energy consumption of the heating element, the flow rate of the heated water and
pressure could be adjusted. Measured properties in the system include the wet and dry bulb
temperatures at the inlet and outlet, the temperature of the water in and out, the make up temperature
and the pressure. The power to the heat is predetermined as well as the water mass flow rate. The
enthalpy, absolute humidity and the specific ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Water is more commonly used due to its higher heat transfer coefficient, resulting in a smaller
required surface area for cooling. The downside to water based cooling systems is that once the water
has heated it must be cooled before it can be used again, this is a problem when trying to minimalise
heat pollution. Due to the need for cooling of the water used, systems such as cooling water towers
were developed. This is the most common method of cooling for recirculated water in chemical
process industries. While water is fed down the tower, a cooling air flow is fed up through a system of
slats that will increase the surface area of the water being cooled. As water falls down through the
tower some of it will evaporate, this acts to further cool the stream as more heat is expelled in the form
of latent heat. The aim of this report is to analyse the heat transfer of a forced draft cooling tower and
to perform energy and mass balances on the system. The Bench Top Cooling Tower H891, with six
thermometer readings, two wet and dry bulbs at the top and bottom of the system, was put into a
steady state where measurements were made.

Of Vincent Lamouroux s Essay Notes On Site Specificity
The stark white remains of the Sunset Pacific Motel upsets the urban environment surrounding the
strip of Sunset Boulevard in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles. French artist Vincent
Lamouroux coats an abandoned motel, the billboard that rests above it, the wire fence encompassing
it, and the palm trees surrounding it with a temporary layer of opaque lime wash. He names the piece
Projection. The motel now stands like a ghost, gleaming in white with its community s history
eternalized beneath those layers of paint. The structure visually contrasts with the backdrop of bright
blue skies, like a billboard trying to capture the viewer s attention. Lamouroux liberates the motel
from its original function and gives new meaning to a site ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Haring s ACT UP, which later circulated as mass produced posters, reflects upon and urges for
awareness on the AIDS crisis. Kwon claims that with the incorporation of the street into the
framework of art, there is a greater concern for integrating art more directly into the realm of the
social, either in order to redress (in an activist sense) urgent social problems such as the ecological
crisis, homelessness, AIDS...or more generally in order to relativize art as one among many forms of
cultural work. Although Haring s style as an artist is inherently recognizable and bears the mark of his
artistic identity, both Projection and ACT UP use the street as a site of protest and interrupt the urban
landscape through their choice of contrasting color palettes, creating a confrontation between the
viewer and the problems of the present. Over the last decade, Silver Lake has become one of the many
neighborhoods of Los Angeles subjected to gentrification. Today, the neighborhood is filled with
trendy coffee shops and boutiques. The Sunset Pacific Motel, a victim of gentrification, has been
closed for decades by the city due to constant criminal activities and faded into the background of
Silver Lake as a liminal space where one simply

The Issues Of Human Resource Personnel Essay
It may seem obvious that businesses, no matter the size, do not operate in a vacuum. This can mean
that when it comes to suppliers, customers, employees, or even general perception of the company to
the public a business is subject to laws that dictate what it can and cannot do in the course of doing
business. Although many people are aware that some laws exist in regards to Civil Rights, Age
Discrimination, and Equal Pay they may not know the specifics of the law or the consequences of non
compliance. Just like a company needs experts like accountants to manage the money or Quality
Assurance departments to ensure a product is produced; this lack of specific knowledge is why it is
important for companies to have Human Resource personnel. Human Resources is comprised of
experts that can design policies, practices, and even help shape the corporate culture to promise
compliance with employment law.
Regulations
Similar to laws that individuals must comply with, businesses can face varying degrees of
consequences for their failure to comply with applicable laws. Many separate laws have been passed
that effectively make it illegal for an employer to discriminate based on, amongst other things, race,
age, and sex.
The Civil Rights Act of 1991
Culminating in the late 1980s a series of Supreme Court decisions had led to an eroding of
effectiveness to past Civil Rights Acts that had been previously passed. Two landmark cases in 1989,

Summary of Article Topic
In the article, Perceptions of Burnout, Its Prevention and Its Effect on Patient Care as Described by
Oncology Nurses in the Hospital Setting, Russell, (2016) gives a quantitative approach on the
thoughts of burnout nurses in clinical oncology registered nurses. Nurses that work oncology normally
do not take care of themselves due to the extensive care they give to their patients therefore run a high
risk of burnout that may lead to compassion fatigue, resentment and displeasure of their job. In burnt
out nurses, what is the perception on stress and compassion fatigue compared with decreased ability
for patient care?

Research tools used were: Maslach Burnout Inventory (HBI HSS) Human Services Survey which had
three categories of: emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and personal accomplishments. The
investagator develpoed inpatient Oncology Nursing Questionnaire (IONQ) focused on the nurses
demographic information. It was also an interview that was able to collect additional variables and
information such as: how long the nurse worked at the hospital, status, shift they were on and if
whether overtime was a factor. Results of study When nurses realized that it was the care they were
given that could be causing or be part of the reason for burnout and compassion fatigue, they listened
for options. The findings indicated ways to prevent and decrease burnout and have alternate ways not
to reach the burnout nurse. Ways to prevent burnout that were discussed were: education, adequate
rest and sleep, self care and being able to be social out of work. Thirty five nurses believe

The Rocking Horse Winner Essay
The Rocking Horse Winner
When a person is lucky, it does not have to mean that they are fortunate with money. Luck is the
chance for things to go the way you want them to go with out having any control over the situation. In
The Rocking Horse Winner, Hester, the mother seems to believe that luck is strictly having money,
and when there is no money, there is no luck. Hester s idea of luck meaning money brings forth the
two ideas of greed and death throughout the story. Money plays a huge part in this story. Hester, the
mother, is obsessed with having more and more money. She lives the life of a woman with money,
never allowing anyone to see past the family s small income, The mother had a small income, and the
father had a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When he realized just how much money he had made, he took 5,000 pounds of it to the family lawyer
to be given a thousand pounds to his mother, annually. But Paul didn t end here. He continued to bet
and make more and more money. When Paul s mother received the letter from the lawyer, she got
even more greedy. She went to the lawyer and asked if she could have all the money at once. Paul
agreed that this would be okay. But the house just whispered louder, with more greed. Paul s mother
had used the money foolishly again, instead of using it wisely to pay off her debt. The voices in the
house suddenly went mad, like a chorus of frogs on a spring evening. There were certain new
furnishings and Paul had a new tutor #8230;there were flowers in the winter, and a blossoming of the
luxury that Paul s mother had been used to (442). Paul s mother and Paul s greed amplified: Paul
continued to bet to make more money for his mother, and his mother kept spending money that she
didn t have. Eventually the luck, or in this case, the unluck, had to run out, and it did. Paul s continual
confusion leads him to find his luck of know the winning horses. Paul is successful at reaching this
goal and fulfilling his mother s definition of luck. The whole belief of his mother s was the basis for
Paul s confusion. Good luck for Paul would be to see his mother happy. He knew that money was
what made her happy. According to

Kim Dovey Becoming Places Summary
In Kim Dovey s Becoming Places, she begins by introducing the concepts of place and space. As
Dovey distinguishes between the two concepts, she explains that place tends to connect social and
spatial, whereas space is simply concerned on the physical space itself. In other words, as Dovey
describes, while a space has physical dimensions, intensity gives rise to the potency and primacy of
place (Dovey, pg. 3). Dovey goes on to explain the general use of place in academic discourse and
how it tends to differ from the use of the concept in everyday life. From a philosophical standpoint,
place has emerged from the Greek topos, a concept which stresses the inseparable nature of both place
and being or existence. Moving forward through time,

Pttm s Pathological Determortem Diagnosis
PTTM is a highly fatal, rare complication from metastatic carcinoma. Von Herbay et al. first described
the disease in 1990 after a review of 630 consecutive autopsy cases of carcinoma (8). Of the 21 cases,
gastric carcinoma was the most prevalent. Although less prevalent, malignancies of lung, breast,
prostate, and colon, among others were noted during the study (8). An antermortem diagnosis is
challenging due to the rapidly progressive pulmonary hypertension and right side heart failure.
However, PTTM has pathological, radiological, and clinical characteristics that can help aid an
antermortem diagnosis. In order to assess PTTM s pathological characteristics antermortem, a lung
biopsy is required. A histological assessment from a lung biopsy is the most accurate method of
diagnosis; however, the patients are usually too hypoxic upon discovery to perform a lung biopsy. In
which case, a pathological diagnosis can only be made postmortem. Although, antermortem and
postmortem investigations will inspect for the same determining factors histologically. PTTM is
defined by the activation of fibroceullular intimal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Several cases of PTTM have shown distinct radiological imaging characteristics that should be used to
influence a diagnosis. The mediastinal views of a chest CT angiogram should indicate multiple
mediastinal and hilar lymphadenopathies, along with right side heart failure displayed from the
flattening of the interventricular septum (4, 5). Centrilobular nodules and tree in bud images are also
radiological indicators of PTTM (4). Additionally, the chest CT angiogram should not show signs of a
pulmonary embolism, which is a common suspicion during the clinical investigation of PTTM (2, 3).
However, radiological characteristics are not as definitive as pathological aspects and should be
coupled with high suspicion from clinical characteristics

Internally Displaced Person
Preamble:
For decades, they were largely ignored and forgotten, but together they probably comprise the world‟s
largest group of vulnerable people. Currently, there are an estimated 30 million of them in at least 50
countries living amidst war and persecution. They have little legal or physical protection and a very
uncertain future outcasts in their own countries. Bureaucratically, they are described as IDPs or
„internally displaced persons.‟ In the real world, they are civilians, mostly women and children, who
have been forced to abandon their homes because of conflict or persecution to seek safety elsewhere.
The idea and the phenomenon of internal displacement are not recent. According to United Nations
Office for the Coordination ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, a United Nations report, Guiding Principles on Internal Displacement uses the definition:
Internally displaced persons are persons or groups of persons who have been forced or obliged to flee
or to leave their homes or places of habitual residence, in particular as a result of or in order to avoid
the effects of armed conflict, situations of generalized violence, violations of human rights or natural
or human made disasters, and who have not crossed an internationally recognized State border. 4
Components of the IDP definition
The definition provided by the Guiding Principles on Internal Displacement highlights two elements:

1) The coercive or otherwise involuntary character of movement. 2) The fact that such movement
takes place within national borders.
Refugee vs. IDPs
Both groups often leave their homes for similar reasons. Civilians are recognized as „refugees‟ when
they cross an international frontier to seek sanctuary in another country. The internally displaced, for
whatever reason, remain in their own states. Newly arrived refugees normally receive food, shelter
and a place of safety from the host country. A well defined body of international laws and conventions
protects them. The UN refugee agency and other humanitarian organizations work within this legal
framework to

The Leadership Qualities Of AAthletic Administrator
School and athletic administrators, coaches and parents have transformed the purpose of youth
participation in organized athletic programs from children/teenagers simply having fun to economic
gains. Today, youth sports emulate the win at all costs philosophy of collegiate and professional
sports, which has resulted in the decrease of participation and retention. The definition of success is
not whether a student has improved his or her life either academically, athletically or personally by
participating in sports, but instead the number of wins and championships accumulated. Coaches
across all athletic arenas, professionally, collegiate, and youth are terminated for failure to produce
wins and championships, yet those who choose to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

  • 2. Civil Liberties And Airport Security Are the civil liberties of the citizens of the United States sacrificed during the airport security checks with the use of body scanners for the sake of national security? This week thousands of Americans will board airplanes to head to their Thanksgiving destinations, and they will need to undergo several security checks in order to advance to their flight. Since September 11, 2001, the vulnerability and fear arose in the United States citizens about the security tactics in place to protect our nation. One area of concern was the airport security measures that allowed al Qaeda and their associates to take control of United State s airplanes to carry out their plan of attack. The fear of another terrorist attack taking place on the airplanes resulted in extraordinary security tactics immediately emerging to protect the citizens. Further instances of other threats required more advanced security equipment to be installed, such as the body scanners. Statistics revealed there were an estimated 793 scanners (full body scanners) in use in March 2016 in more than 157 airports in the United States (Jansen). All of these security measures have taken place with the expense of sacrificing civil liberties. Although, the body scanners were developed to protect the people, the civil liberties of the United States citizens are sacrificed for the sake of national security through invasion of privacy, inefficiencies, misuse, and expense. To begin, in general, civil liberties are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Roof Coatinging Case Study Extending the service life If your roof coatings objective is based on increasing the service life, then your best roof coating candidates should have a sound existing roof with proper attachment of all system components, flashings and trim. If you select roof areas with existing defects in construction, detailing and terminations, correcting deficiencies prior to installation of a new coating system. In insulated assemblies, the insulation should be dry, without a history of leaks and presence of trapped moisture. Verify roof areas have positive 1/4 + slope to drain. Note: dead flat areas that pond water, even when the coating may be tolerant of standing water, ponded areas collect debris and silt that increase heat cycling and can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When faced with system alternatives, the facility manager should verify the scope of work is similar, materials specifications, preparation steps, installation QA, detailing, to maintain the anticipated service life. A price reduction with a service life reduction can increase the annual costs per year. When asked, facility managers can defend a coating project from a lower cost alternative with documentation from the roof coating selection process. Unfortunately, without the project documents to show the comparison, coating suppliers and bids look very similar to a buyer. The example below gives a quick comparison of how a lower cost alternative can increase your annual cost. The project for roof recoating costs X to purchase (capital) and ongoing maintenance (expense) is added until the roof has reached its service life. Example: Coating Roof Section: 17,000 s/f Capital Purchase $24,000, life time expenses $ 4,000.00. Final life time cost $ 28,000.00, service life 14 years the is $2,000.00 per year. If you take a lower bid of $21,000.00 even when life time expenses remain at $ 4,000.00, if the alternate service life is reduced to 10 years your annual cost increases to $ 2,500.00 *This simple calculation excludes the cost of capital, tax benefits and other business considerations. ... • 5. Research Paper On The Hippocampus The hippocampus is part of the Limbic System (Wright, n.d.). According to Wright, the hippocampus formation is found in the temporal lobe of the brain. The study of the hippocampus is vital in understanding how it governs human behaviors. As perceived, the brain is a complex machine and through understanding its crucial parts in the processing of information would give a clear understanding and precautions to people on how to protect their brain from memory loss and other similar diseases. In addition, Wright explained that the hippocampus is directly linked to the entorhinal cortex and the fornix. That is to say that the output pathways of hippocampus passed directly to the entorhinal cortex and the fornix before reaching other anterior structures. What is more, not only do outputs coming from hippocampus are passed through the entorhinal cortex, but both parts are also directly connected to one another which includes the amyglada (Wright, n.d). Why is this part of the study? As elaborated by Wright, both entorhinal cortex and amyglada are structures that are connected to several parts of the brain. Thereby, all areas of the brain that are connected to aforesaid structures could be affected by hippocampus. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Great White is ovoviviparous, which mean that the shark grows in an egg which is then hatched inside the mother. Once the shark pup is born it stays in the womb for a short period of time where the embryos feed on unfertilized eggs which is referred to as oophagy. The gestation period is the time that the eggs are in the womb until they hatch which is estimate to around 12 to 18 months. Lastly, is the litter size which ranges vastly for the Great White from two to ten pups. The new born measures to 5 feet (1.5 metres) and weighing 77 pounds (35Kg). However, the reason as to why the Great White doesn t breed as fast as other animals is because they have a slow growth rate to maturity and a low reproductive rate which is a worry for the survival of its kind in the future as they only live up to the age of 30 years old. Population: The estimation of the Great Whites Shark is set to be estimated at 2000 however recent studies indicate that this number has decreased by 50 % and the already threatened species is closer to extinction that was hoped for. • 9. Slit Drum History The evolution of the drums has varied from being made from a simple wood log, to having a hollow object covered in rawhide, to being completely electronic. Like any instrument, each one produces a different sound. Some may sound light like a snare, deep like a bass, or metronomic by simply producing a clicking noise to keep count. Some are completely electronic, even. Starting from one of the oldest drums in the world, the slit drum is an instrument originating from Africa that is made from a hollow piece of wood or carved from bamboo. They are typically made with three slits, (hence the name slit drum ) each one producing a different tone. Like most drums, slit drums can be played using rubber mallet or with the tips of your finger tips. Unlike today, where we have telephones and social media to talk to one another long distantly, this instrument was once, and probably still is, used as a form of communication. For war cries, signaling, storytelling, and ceremonies. The djembe drum is made somewhat like the slit drum. After it is cut down, typically the wood is custom fitted to specifically fit the drummer. • 10. Grade Inflation And High Grades Inflation Grade inflation, the idea that students are receiving grades that they have not worked for and therefore don t deserve them. But what s so wrong about grade inflation? When learning about this subject we also open the doors to learning about the multitude of other problems plaguing our educational system that could use our attention much more than grade inflation does. Through grade inflation we re able to understand problems often forgotten about and looked over. In the past colleges like Princeton and Wellesley have tried to adopt policies to help curb grade inflation. Even though it lowered the percentages of high grades, effectively lowering the amount of grade inflation, it came with the cost of unforeseen consequences that affected the students and staff. In his article Rojstaczer describes the policy that Princeton tried to adopt in which they ...limit[ed]ing A s on average to 35 percent of students in a class. ( grade inflation gone wild , 75). This policy is extremely unfair on the students, telling them that only a small percent of them will actually be able to get and A no matter how hard they work. It is putting a limit on the students education and ruining their motivation to keep their grades up if they know that there is a high percent chance that they won t make an A despite their hard work. These attempts to fix the inflation has only in turn limited a student s education and potential, causing greater issues. Since attempting to fight grade ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Factories and industries sprang up in cities such as Montréal, Toronto and Vancouver. The event triggered an extraordinary boom in every dimension of Canada s magnification. Where did the Chinese workers emanate from?Railroad workers recruited by labor contractors came mostly from Guangdong (Canton) province, especially Siyi (四邑Sze Yap, denoting four counties: Taishan台山, Kaiping开平, Xinhui新会 and Enping恩平). Without them it would be infeasible to consummate the western portion of this great national enterprise, within the time required by the Acts of Congress. Soon the Chinese labor pool from California was exhausted, and the Central Pacific arranged with labor contractors to import sizably voluminous numbers of Chinese workers directly from China. The railroad did not list most individual Chinese workers by name in their payroll records, and instead listed headmen of work crews or labor contractors who distributed pay to the individuals on the crew. However, Chinese workers worked longer hours and had to pay their headmen or contractors for their own lodging and pabulum and even for their implements; on the other hand, the Central Pacific and Coalescence Pacific provided white workers accommodations, aliment, and implements without adscititious cost. Desperate for work, workers from this component of Guangdong boarded ships for California and other components to fortify their families. What were the Chinese ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Biodiversity, Or Biological Diversity Introduction: Biodiversity, or biological diversity, is a term first coined in 1985 by Walter G. Rosen concerning the number of species in a particular habitat and revolved around the idea that diversity cannot solely be understood through numbers (Maclaurin and Sterelny, 2012). However, before 1985 biodiversity was related to concepts of genetic diversity and ecological diversity . This allowed to further define ecological diversity with species richness as the number of species in a community of organism . Biodiversity is more than just the amount of species in an area but rather better measured by taxic measures, molecular measures, and phylogenetic measures (Harper and Hawksworth, 1994). Today, zoologists have estimated that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Our method of capture was the pitfall trap (digging a hole in the ground and placing a cup) that was filled with isopropyl alcohol. The independent variables for this experiment included location (habitat 1 vs habitat 2) and sun vs shade. The way biodiversity was measured through the arthropod collection project by primarily using statistics including the sum of individual specimens, the sum of taxa, and evenness. The sum of individual specimens allows for the depiction of abundance. The sum of taxa is better known through richness or more specifically how common a certain arthropod is. Lastly, using the Burger Parker index, evenness is the lack of dominance which is known as 1/Pm (UNO Department of Biological Sciences,1999). Methods: This experiment was conducted in New Orleans and Kenner, Louisiana which are located in Orleans and Jefferson Parish, however, Kenner is more suburban rather than city. Conducting this experiment required setting out eight pitfall traps (four in each habitat) which were labelled cups one through eight. This experiment was conducted over the time frame of three weeks in order to collect approximately 100 200 arthropods. Every day for three weeks, cups (pitfall traps) were placed in two different habitats (Kenner and New Orleans) and put out every morning and picked up every night. The shade ... • 15. King Lear Influences A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is like a tree without roots (Garvey). Garvey s allusion to a tree s roots depicts the human experience and the importance of understanding our past. Everyone sees the tree (plays), but not necessarily the roots (the background story ) that make these works classic. These influences define the works, affecting them in ways unseen to the human eye. The roots give the tree life. William Shakespeare utilizes numerous influences to make his plays unique. He employs many Elizabethan Era themes, characterization techniques, and culture in his writing. The audience already has an idea of the history behind the plays, and this affects how people view the characters and what judgements they have before they even watch the plays with conflicts such as male v. female, old v. young, and many others. Shakespeare has an even amount of his strongest/main characters being both male and female, but this does not mean he does not use gender roles to make the stories more believable. In King Lear, Shakespeare, through Lear, is supporting these roles by saying: suspend thy purpose if thou didst intend/to make this creature fruitful (King Lear 1.4.289 290), and is indicating that the woman s only job is to give birth, and so the worst curse for them would be to get rid of the one thing they are actually meant to do. But, Shakespeare has many examples of breaking the gender norms, and Antony and Cleopatra is arguably Shakespeare s most gender redefining play (Moss, Antony and Cleopatra 296). In one of the opening scenes, Caesar states, the lamps of night in revel, is not more manlike/Than Cleopatra, nor the queen of Ptolemy/ More womanly than he (Antony and Cleopatra 1.4.5 7), which shows that women are supposed to be womanly, but Egypt s ideals are backwards. While in Egypt it is fine, in Rome, Antony would be mocked. Antony and Cleopatra also spends time defining two types of women, if beauty, flashiness, and riggishness do not settle, /Wisdom and modesty can harbour /The heart of Antony, Octavia is/A blessèd lottery to him (Antony and Cleopatra 2.2.265 266, 274 276). Both women are represented here, Cleopatra as beautiful and ambitious, while Octavia is more obedient, wise and modest, but Shakespeare or his characters never state which is better, but rather they are both equal in different senses. The formal conception of access to justice is considered to indicate abilities of people to have access to courts of law and other tribunals in a reasonable and effective manner coupled with the opportunity to receive legal services from qualified professionals. Access to justice in this way embraces the concept of the equality before the law which is the foundation of human rights protection, and protects the poor and the vulnerable from deprivation and violation of their rights. Scientists have discovered many procedures to help the heart stay in rhythm. Some of the most famous and common procedures discovered are the pacemaker and heart valve replacement. These procedures have become easier over time and are the most reliable procedure to keep the heart functioning. Scientist have also found solutions for arteriosus, which is a defect in the heart that happens right after birth. Doctors are using pacemakers to send electrical impulses to keep the heart in rhythm, replacing or fixing defective valves for proper circulation, and surgeries to clamp PDA. These heart procedures are common and useful. The pacemaker is a complex device that sends electrical impulses to the heart to keep it in a normal rhythm. In particular, we aim to learn the I2C protocols to program the registers used to configure the camera, how to convert a raw image to a full colour image, detect a selected colour and then track it. Block Diagrams and images for the image processing steps: The block diagram in Figure 1, illustrates the processing blocks that were created to being the image processing steps. It also shows the variables created in the code and how they interact to produce the initial output of display an image from the camera to the screen. The clock for the 640x480 (frame size 800x525) display image runs at a frequency of 25.2 MHz and the clock for the camera runs at a frequency of 48.825 MHz to synchronize the display. The I2C setup, involves using I2C protocols to program registers within the camera. It is a two wire protocol, where one wire acts as the clock to pass from the FPGA to the device, and the other wire is the data wire which is bidirectional. The data wire is a top level entity and requires the setup module to have 3 data connections. These are input data from the camera to the controller, output data from the FPGA controller to the camera and output enable (tristate control), which determines whether the data is input or output. • 25. Friendship In John Knowles s A Separate Peace In life, a person is never able to stay in contact with every person they have met. An acquaintance is no exception to this idea; friends will come and go, and this is inevitable. Sometimes a companion will move away, never to be seen again, cut themselves off, never to be heard from again, or pass away, never to do anything again. One bad occurrence can make or break a relationship. It all depends on whether the resolution of it will cement a life long friendship or a lifelong schism. Any relationship can be complicated, to the point of making no sense at all. This is similar to what John Knowles writes about on his novel, A Separate Peace. Knowles writes of one of his main characters, Gene Forrester, experiencing some of the themes above. Gene causes his friend Finny s leg to be broken, and Knowles uses the resulting events to convey the idea that a friendship does not always have to make sense for it to exist. In nearly every major interaction involving Gene, he consistently exhibits behavior which would certainly sabotage his relationship with Finny and other peers. He harbors harsh and strong emotions, which eventually do make themselves clear to the person they belong to. For example, Gene begins a conspiracy against Finny, thinking, Finny had deliberately set out to wreck my studies (53). Even after Finny eventually resolves the complications between himself and Gene, he still falls victim to Gene s latent emotions a short moment after the reconciliation. In a ... The Effects Of Global Warming On Global Temperature As decelerating the negative impacts of rising global temperature becomes increasingly important, a myriad of techniques to slow or reverse the effects of global warming are being researched and implemented. Among these are economic incentive programs designed to encourage large corporations to produce fewer green house gases (GHGs), investment in sustainable technology and behavioral education, and so on. Some of the up and coming approaches to achieving more sustainable global temperatures are known as geoengineering, which involves projects that attempt to prevent global temperature increase by reflecting to space sunlight that would otherwise warm Earth or by removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere (Caldeira et al.). Both solar radiation management (SRM) and carbon dioxide removal (CDR) strategies offer attractive options for reducing global temperature rise. CDR proposals include the sequestration of atmospheric CO2 in trees via reforestation, the creation of wetland ecosystems, and modification of ocean upwelling, among others (Caldeira et al.). SRM strategies are a bit more creative, with options like whitening clouds and making plants more reflective to reflect solar radiation off earth s surface and from the stratosphere. One of the more controversial emerging SRM strategies is the injection of aerosols, namely sulfate, into the stratosphere in order to scatter the solar radiation back to space and as a result reduce global mean temperatures (Caldeira et ... Suffering Of The Good Samaritan Suffering performs a significant function in numerous religions, concerning situations like: consolation or relief; moral behavior, spiritual development through life difficulties or through self enforced trials, and final destiny. It is supplemented in the Hebrew Bible by the verses found in the Book of Isaiah and the Book of Jeremiah. They detail the emotional and physical suffering of a defeated nation with its vanquished residents compelled into the suffering of expulsion and confinement in a foreign nation. In the New Testament, suffering is depicted in the life of Jesus, which recounts the suffering of the crucifixion, and in the Easter story. The suffering connected with punishment is additionally depicted in the Apocalypse of John where suffering at the setting of the Last Judgment is portrayed as the just compensation for sin and unlawful activity. No other game has such an international popularity and prominence, with an unmatched ability to unite fans and players over a great passion. Unfortunately, the game s overarching organization is stained by unwanted headlines of corruption and fraud that has forced experts to question why they have such a consistent history of misconduct. Specifically, looking at FIFA s decision to award Qatar with the 2022 World Cup can provide insight into the corruption and dishonesty of their operations. What does this FIFA s extensive history of corruption mean for the future of the Beautiful Game? What is FIFA? The acronym FIFA stands for Fédération Internationale de Football Association and it is the governing body for professional soccer around the world. The organization is headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland yet it oversees soccer, futsal and beach soccer in every corner of the globe. Founded in the year 1904, FIFA contains 209 national associations and is responsible for organizing the FIFA World Cup, the most watched sporting event in the world (Business Insider). The World Cup allows the organization to generate millions of dollars in revenue via selling their broadcasting, television and marketing rights to large companies all over the world. In 2014 alone, the World Cup in Brazil saw over $4 billion raised through the month long event. Yet, FIFA is technically a non for profit group despite the massive sums of money they are able to collect. For a price tag of $425 million, FOX bought the rights to the 2018 and 2022 World Cup and recently, they had their license extended until 2026 despite FIFA not allowing other company s to bid (Business Insider). Who is in charge of FIFA? Today, they are in the middle of restructuring their executive leadership and they have been in this phase ever since 2015. Sepp Blatter was re elected as President of FIFA on May 30, 2015 was after his previous term from the late 1980 s. • 40. The Use Of Rggt Inhibitors Doesn t Exhibit Any Toxicity... The use of RGGT inhibitors doesn t exhibit any toxicity in mouse models (Taylor et al., 2011). This is supported by comparison to gunmetal mice that harbour a RGGT mutation leading to 80% reduction of RGGT function. There are mild dysfunctional phenotypes such as hypopigmentation and altered platelet synthesis. This suggests that a decreased RGGT activity, such that Rab proteins would be hypoprenylated, would not be lethal if targeted (Recchi and Seabra, 2012). The decrease in RGGT activity is only specific to certain tissues, leading to the idea that this mutation does not affect all Rabs equally (Hume, et al. 2001). NE10790 is a phosphonocarboxylate analogue of the more potent bisphosphonate risedronate (BP RIS), and contains a carboxylate group instead of a phosphonate group. NE10790 is a specific inhibitor of RGGT, whereas BPs are non specific inhibitors of Rab prenylation. They act on farnesyl diphosphate synthase to inhibit prenylation of a variety of proteins such as Rho and Ras, seen in Figure 9 (Gong, Altman and Klein, 2011). The use of BPs in clinical trials has been successful in decreasing mortality from lytic bone disease in multiple myeloma. There is also evidence of anti tumour effects, such as apoptosis and arresting the cell cycle, as well as in other tumour cell types associated with bone. BPs have also been investigated in vitro on breast and prostate cancers, as they commonly metastasise to bone. Studies show inhibition of invasion and adhesion to bone, ... In the system the energy consumption of the heating element, the flow rate of the heated water and pressure could be adjusted. Measured properties in the system include the wet and dry bulb temperatures at the inlet and outlet, the temperature of the water in and out, the make up temperature and the pressure. The power to the heat is predetermined as well as the water mass flow rate. The enthalpy, absolute humidity and the specific ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Water is more commonly used due to its higher heat transfer coefficient, resulting in a smaller required surface area for cooling. The downside to water based cooling systems is that once the water has heated it must be cooled before it can be used again, this is a problem when trying to minimalise heat pollution. Due to the need for cooling of the water used, systems such as cooling water towers were developed. This is the most common method of cooling for recirculated water in chemical process industries. While water is fed down the tower, a cooling air flow is fed up through a system of slats that will increase the surface area of the water being cooled. As water falls down through the tower some of it will evaporate, this acts to further cool the stream as more heat is expelled in the form of latent heat. The aim of this report is to analyse the heat transfer of a forced draft cooling tower and to perform energy and mass balances on the system. This can mean that when it comes to suppliers, customers, employees, or even general perception of the company to the public a business is subject to laws that dictate what it can and cannot do in the course of doing business. Although many people are aware that some laws exist in regards to Civil Rights, Age Discrimination, and Equal Pay they may not know the specifics of the law or the consequences of non compliance. Just like a company needs experts like accountants to manage the money or Quality Assurance departments to ensure a product is produced; this lack of specific knowledge is why it is important for companies to have Human Resource personnel. Human Resources is comprised of experts that can design policies, practices, and even help shape the corporate culture to promise compliance with employment law. Von Herbay et al. first described the disease in 1990 after a review of 630 consecutive autopsy cases of carcinoma (8). Of the 21 cases, gastric carcinoma was the most prevalent. Although less prevalent, malignancies of lung, breast, prostate, and colon, among others were noted during the study (8). An antermortem diagnosis is challenging due to the rapidly progressive pulmonary hypertension and right side heart failure. However, PTTM has pathological, radiological, and clinical characteristics that can help aid an antermortem diagnosis. In order to assess PTTM s pathological characteristics antermortem, a lung biopsy is required. A histological assessment from a lung biopsy is the most accurate method of diagnosis; however, the patients are usually too hypoxic upon discovery to perform a lung biopsy.
