The Differences And Similarities Between C + And Java
C++ and Java came into view to be exceptionally almost identical programming languages. While
there is a lot of usual syntax allocation between the two languages, there are also some very
considerable unusual features in both programming languages. Martin (1997) states C++ and Java
programming languages differ allot in many aspects and features. More specifically, this is to aware
especially to amateurs who would use this specific programming languages their main differences and
functions. There is a variance between C++ and Java programming languages in terms of multiple
inheritance, class types and array declaration. C++ is a very fast and well built language. The focus of
this language is, building code that will run on a specific machine ... Show more content on

C++ work exceedingly well for a system with limited hardware capabilities where the programmer
needs precise control over how the system will work and raw speed is of the utmost performance. This
could be very critical for some networking applications, especially in embedded systems or other very
distinct uses. First, multiple inheritance is an important feature in C++ and programmers believe that it
is a very good structuring tool. To acquire directly from more than one class is usually called multiple
inheritance. Using this method for programmers would be a trial because failure to use this method
correctly will cause errors in coding a certain program. Next, Java supports classes, but does not
support structures or unions. All classes in Java ultimately inherit from the object class. This is
significantly different from C++ where it is possible to create inheritance trees that are completely
unrelated to one another. Lastly, defining an array is needed in C++ but not in case of Java at the time
of array declaration, when declaring an array in C++. Declaration of arrays in programming is a prime
factor where programmers must be accurate and specific on building their codes and so that executing
their codes will not be a big deal for a program to

The Reliability Of Polls
With the 2016 Presidential Election approaching pollsters have been conducting several polls. The
poll industry has recently made two high profile mistakes the 2014 election and a mishap involving
2016 presidential candidates Clinton and Sanders. Even the most prestigious polling companies
predicted the wrong outcomes. This has led to a nationwide discussion about the reliability of polls.
The reliability of polls has been on a downward spiral for years. Polls have become far less reliable
due to an increase in cellphones, internet based polls, annoying telemarketers, and the technique of
weighting polls. The first mobile telephone call was made in 1973. The phone weighed over a pound
and the device was quite expensive. Having a cellphone

The Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn And Its Characterization

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and its Characterization
In The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain, there is a large use of characterization to
develop the characters and is influenced by the time period. Mark Twain was born in 1835, and lived
to see the Civil War start. This is a big influence on his writing, because his two most famous works,
The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. They both take place in the
time before the Civil War and both have major themes of race and morals. Mark Twain characterizes
Jim and Huck as he builds their bonds and relationships. At the same time he teaches that race should
not determine the status of a relationship.
Twain characterizes Huck from the beginning. He also characterizes Huck all through his first book,
The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. When Huck is first introduced, many things are shown about him.
Twain shows how simpleminded Huck is and how adventurous his spirit. Huck hates the normal
sivilized ways of life and education. This reflects the time period because a big issue in society was
being free. The slaves wanted to be free and the regularWhen Huck starts talking about his family s
attempts to educate him, he says Miss Watson (...) had come to live with her and took a set at me with
a spelling book (Twain 2). This shows how he does not care about traditional education and only
learning from experiences. He is wise in

Disadvantages Of Juvenile Correctional Methods
Juvenile correctional methods are a key source when it comes to helping treat the juveniles that are in
need of help while they are in a correctional facility. These methods can be a different yet rewarding to
the juveniles that are wanting to better themselves. Such methods are single sex facilities as well as
coed facilities. The importance of single sex programing is reflected in the debate among juvenile
justice experts and practitioners concerning the advantages and disadvantages of coed verses single
sexed juvenile correctional facilities (Ruddell Thomas, 2009, pg. 150). During the research it is known
that there are positive and negative aspects of both that need to be compared as well as contrasted
against one another in order to find the balance of both and analyzing them by economic issues,
preparation for the outside world, programmatic resources, and cohesion by focusing on the major
points within the subjects. In analyzing both single sex coed facilities the perspective of scripture will
not only help support the major points, but it will bring more life in a more Godly perspective. While
there are many issues that must be taken into consideration when designing a juvenile facility, we
would assert that (whenever possible) single sex or coed environments could be considered best
practice, including living arrangements, dayrooms, and educational spaces (Ruddell Thomas, 2009,
pg. 150). Economic issues, preparing for the outside world, programmatic

The Pros And Cons Of Customs Union
The reason I chose Customs Union as my topic is to learn more about how members or potential
members of a union establish an agreement that benefit all parties. I find it interesting that members of
a union are able to influence one another s economic growth, competition and how they can
complement one another as well. Having a common trade policy among a group of members and
removing all barriers of trade can play a significant role in the success of a business. It saves a lot
money, and could be a competitive advantage over competitors. Countries of a union joining can also
impact its position in a global market, as well as help the country economically. The ability for a group
of countries to come together and help each other is fascinating, and is why I chose to explore this
topic more.
EXPLANATION OF KEY TERM
The third stage of Economic Integration is Customs Union. According to the Encyclopaedia of
Britannica, Customs Union is a trade agreement by which a group of countries charges a common set
of tariffs to the rest of the world while granting free trade among themselves (Encyclopedia
Britannica, 2010). Customs Union is free trade zone with common external tariffs; which helps
increase economic efficiency and allows for signatories to establish political and cultural ties. Tariff
barriers make it difficult for some countries to sell products in a foreign country because of the
additional taxes on imported goods, which is a price advantage to members of a

Home is more than just four walls; it is a place and feeling that surrounds people with security and
comfort. It is culture, religion and traditions. Homeland is a place one can call home, whether it is a
person s native land or a place where anyone can feel safe, happy and welcome. In an immigrant s
perspective, on the other hand, they have a hard time calling home home. Laviera a famous Nuyorican

Objectives And Objectives Of An Organization
As I ve explained in my previous article, the stakeholders in an organisation are its customers,
employers, employees, government, owners and suppliers amongst others. The stakeholder can be a
person, group or even an organisation that has an influence in a company. Stakeholders are different
from others as they can have a different type of influence on a business. Every business has aims and
objectives. An aim is a more broad term and is what the business would like to achieve in the long
term, where as an objective is more of a short term thorough approach on how to achieve the long
term aim. Detailed objectives are known as SMART objectives, this is a mnemonic acronym,
providing criteria to guide when setting objectives. These objectives go as follows: * Specific Means
that the objective the business would like to achieve is precise and clearly stated. * Measurable The
outcome the firm would like to achieve is a numeric value that can be measured. * Achievable The
objective should be possible by the organisation. * Realistic The target is what results can realistically
be achieved, given available resources. * Time The objective will be met within a given period of
time. Most businesses have general aims which they can break down into detailed objectives. By
arranging aims and objectives; firms give themselves a sense of direction and purpose. With a general
plan in place, a business can set precise objectives and observe its progress towards achieving

The Effectiveness Of Hospice Care
The Effectiveness of Hospice Care for Delirium
Patients
Cierra J. Williams

Abstract
The limitation of hospice care is focused on the idea of providing delirium patients and their families
with a peaceful encounter of an acceptable death. Moral experience encompasses a person s sense that
values that he or she deems important are being realized or thwarted in everyday life. This includes a
person s interpretations of a lived encounter, or a set of lived encounters, that fall on spectrums of
right wrong, good bad or just unjust. (p. 659) Delirium is highly widespread in terminally ill patients

painful and hard for many. Having hospice caregivers present relax the family because they know
their loved one would be taken care of.
Hospice care for a patient with delirium is very challenging. The main concern is to provide a healthy
familiar atmosphere for the patient. Creating positive and peaceful images that would be remembered
by the family was a source of pride amongst hospice caregivers. Hospice caregivers help the patient
and the patient s family comes to terms with death. Death is a natural thing that should not be feared.
Death happens through a series of changes for instance cognition and consciousness. But that is better

loved one that is dying. Really we lose our loved ones in stages. Death is a series of little goodbyes.

Net Neutrality In Internet Essay
Most Americans today don t even know what net neutrality is, let alone how it so greatly affects their
life. Whenever you use the internet you are benefiting from net neutrality. Net neutrality is what
allows us to visit any website at the maximum speed anytime with no slowdowns or interference by
ISPs. This is one of the core ideas that internet was founded on. ISPs (Internet Service Providers) are
the companies that are trying to restrict and monopolize the internet. The removal of net neutrality
would allow ISPs greater control over what you can do, create and view on the internet. If ISPs have
this ability, they could greatly influence people s quality of life. The right to net neutrality is going to

By choosing net neutrality, we continue to protect our most unalienable right, the 1st Amendment. If
we don t protect our 1st Amendment here it could set a precedence were eventually we lose all of our

A great legal positive for the ISPs in keeping net neutrality is that net neutrality removes all liability of
what goes on on their networks, which we already have and they would probably like to keep. This,
again, is similar to how electrical companies work. If an electricity company was unknowingly
supplying power to a warehouse that was used to hack into a company, the electrical company isn t
liable for supplying the electricity because they don t get any control over monitoring what that power

A Farewell Of Arms, By Ernest Hemingway
Major events throughout history have resulted from human desire for fulfillment by instituting war,
preaching religion, and glorifying love. In A Farewell to Arms, Ernest Hemingway introduces Frederic
Henry, an American in the Italian Army during World War I. Frederic Henry s attempts to find his
meaning in life, are represented by his attempts to discover the possibilities in war, religion, and love.
He does this through his friendship with a Catholic priest, his intense love affair with nurse Catherine
Barkley, who ends up pregnant with his child and eventually dies during labor, along with their child,
and finally with his position as Lieutenant during the war. Throughout A Farewell to Arms, Ernest
Hemingway repeatedly mentions games in war, love, and religion, to illustrate his belief that humans
use these as a way to play with and hopefully reach fulfillment but also use them as a distraction from
the inevitable ending: death.
Hemingway s repeated allusions to games in war, and his portrayal of Henry s attitude about war from
beginning to end of the novel shift dramatically; illustrating that war is used as a tool or a game by
humans to enrich their lives and avoid death, while systematically stealing the lives of others. From
disinterest, to realization, and finally reflection, Henry experiences diverse changes in his ideals
concerning war. At first Henry decides that I would not be killed... It did not have anything to do with
me stating his detachment from the

Economies Of Brazil, Russia, India, And China
BRIC is an acronym for the economies of Brazil, Russia, India, and China combined, originally
projected to be the fastest growing market economies by Jim O Neill of Goldman Sachs first in 2001,
but most prominently in a follow up paper published in 2003 (( Brazil, Russia, India, and China BRIC,
n.d.). The Goldman Sachs thesis states they, Brazil, Russia, India, and China, have the potential to
form a powerful economic bloc ( Brazil, Russia, India, and China BRIC, n.d.). Just thirty prior, Brazil,
Russia, India, and China were all struggling in some fashion. Brazil was dealing with over inflation.
Russia was behind the Iron Curtain. India made the mistake of kicking IBM and Coca Cola out of
their country, and China was in recovery mode from the Cultural Revolution. Now, each of these
countries are on the rise, and China is likely surpass the United States by having the World s largest
economy. One thing that these countries have in common are low labor and production costs. Due to
lower labor and production costs, many companies also cite BRIC as a source of foreign expansion
opportunity, and promising economies in which to invest ( Brazil, Russia, India, and China BRIC,
n.d.). There is no doubt Brazil, Russia, India, and China all have powerful economies that are
currently busting at the seams. . The likely evolution of the BRICs is one filled with economic growth
and rapid expansion. All of the BRICs are on the verge of rapid market growth. In fact, they all

Cajun Food Research Paper
Cajun American Culinary History
Cajun food comes from the deepest Southern parts of Louisiana and Mississippi. Like the area it
originated from, Cajun flavor is spicy, rich, and really, really good! A lot of people don t know that the
typical Cajun food was developed by extremely poor people. Refugees and farmers used what they
had to feed large families. If you ask a resident of the area, you will find out that Louisiana Creole
originated with the settling of European immigrants around 1690. These folks brought with them the
influences of European traditions including their cuisine.
Most were upper class aristocracy, so Creole today is seen as a classier, fine cuisine while Cajun is
more of a common cuisine. The main difference is that Cajun cuisine uses wild vegetables and game

This is still evidenced today in the Creole cooking we enjoy. As a lot of these people were probably
second sons with no hopes of inheriting land or holdings at home in Europe, they arrived here to
search out their fortunes. Many of these immigrants were French. The classic French dish named
Bouillabaisse is a tribute to that heritage.
In reality, Louisiana Creole cuisine is a mixture of several different and varied cultures. Soon after the
immigrants arrived in the area, native Indians introduced the use of local grown vegetables like corn,
ground sassafras and bay leaves. Tomatoes from Central and South America were also introduced. As
these ingredients began to see utilization, the Creole cuisine we know today started to take shape.
The Creoles that settled in the Louisiana area enjoyed a fairly rich lifestyle. A few years later, the
influx of African slaves brought okra seeds into the culture. Okra was added to some dishes, especially
soups, and since the African word for okra is gumbo , that is what we called the signature dish of
Louisiana Creole

Teen suicide in Colorado is at an all time high. It has become one of the biggest social problems
affecting all our lives in one way or another. It is a day to day experience and everyday news in our

Power Corruption in Heart of Darkness Essay
In Joseph Conrad s Heart of Darkness, the author fiercely challenges imperialism. Through this
challenge, he demonstrates the internal battles of good and evil. In his work, he also displays issues of
personal morals and alienation. At the time the novella was written, Europe had established territories
across the map. It holds true that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely, especially
when said power reigns over the fate of humans in society. Conrad illustrates the corruption of power
through the books motif of darkness and the renegade of Kurtz. Darkness makes a quick appearance in
the literature because it s in the title. Darkness is seen on the river. And the river was there fascinating
deadly like a snake. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The standard in the Victorian era was the men were far away, while the women were morally
supportive, but oblivious to the reality of the man s work, although they economically benefitted from
it. This proves the way power corrupts because Kurtz abused the opportunities given after falling from
the edge of moral standards, even after his Intended attempts to show him the way. In 1902, when
Conrad wrote the book, it was common to base culture off of superiority, therefore it was seen that
Kurtz was in the Congo for the redemption of natives. In the text, Joseph Conrad gives much respect
to the native tribes, Mr. Kurtz, however, has none. Exterminate all brutes! (Conrad 50) he says,
claiming that if he cannot change the natives, they should be thrown out. He, and many people like
him, introduced new cultures to societies that did not want it. The corruption of the spirituality found
in some cultures is thus caused by the hunger for power from interference from separate societies.
Power and happiness go hand in hand. When one abuses power it reveal their limitations and perhaps
inability to maintain power to help the greater good. One of these may be the differences in laws for
those in a position in power and those who are not, and abuse occurs through moral differences in
such society. Everything belonged to him but that was a trifle. The thing to know was what he
belonged to, how many powers of

Good writing writing that is clear and interesting and free of most surface errors is a reliable indicator

Today s Modern Army By The 442nd Infantry Regiment During...
Understanding and defining the impact on today s modern army by the 442nd Infantry Regiment
during WWII, is evident by their unique formation that stood out amongst organizations during that
period. While trying to compare the differences in social acceptance from a unit composed almost
entirely of Soldiers of Japanese ancestry, you must first understand the period in which this unit left its
legacy.
During one of the most controversial times in the history of diplomatic relations, Japan attacked Pearl
Harbor on December 7, 1941 without any formal announcement of war. Although the transmissions
from Japan were decoded, the actual declaration of war didn t reach the United States until the
following day. Unknown to many Americans that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ultimately, this order would allow for the deportation of Japanese Americans to internment camps.
The deportation of the Japanese American men who relocated into the camps would eventually make
up roughly 14,000 of the men who would go on to serve in the 442nd.
Japanese American men originally categorized as enemy aliens went un drafted due to the government
automatically disqualifying anyone with Japanese ancestry. Eventually the War Department called for
the removal of all Soldiers of Japanese ancestry from active service. At the time, General Emmons,
who was serving as the commander of the U.S. Army in Hawaii, discharged any man who fell under
this order from the Hawaii Territorial Guard. He did however; keep an estimated 1,300 Japanese
American soldiers from the 298th and 299th Infantry Regiments of the Hawaii National Guard. The
discharged Japanese American men of the Hawaii Territorial Guard petitioned the Generals decision
and asked him to allow them to participate in the war. General Emmons stated, although no formal
documentation exists, that he would remain worried about the loyalty of Japanese American no matter
their birth place. He recommended to the War Department all Japanese American men serving in
Hawaii to be move to the mainland. The authorization, granted by the War Department, allowed
General Emmons to move the once called Hawaiian Provisional Battalion, to Camp McCoy. Upon

The UK s unwritten constitution, formed of Acts of Parliament [AoP], Royal Prerogative [RP],

Before the family had moved onto Mango Street, they had moved every year. Esperanza s parents had
always told stories about how they will move into a house that is unlike the others. Esperanza knows
she is stuck on Mango Street, and that there is little chance that she may leave someday because of the
number of times that she is denied something, such as in the furniture store. Esperanza feels ashamed
and unprivileged with her home. Her family, on the other hand, tries to escape Mango Street as often
as possible and visit rich homes nearby, the homes that they see in their dreams.
Esperanza has become more ashamed of her home because of the way the nun that walked by one day
reacted to her house, and by the way everyone around her wants to move away. She does not enjoy
looking at what she cannot have. All she can do is watch her father tell stories of the house they will
have one day as he holds a lottery ticket between his fingers. Finally, many of Esperanza s family have
been trapped in places they do not belong or want to be in. Esperanza s mother had a chance to get
out. Instead, she dropped out of school. Esperanza s mother did this because she was ashamed of
herself.
All she wanted were material things. Her mother was very intelligent when she left school. Esperanza,

Primarily, his Android phone is very outdated and possibly unsecure. This means that his phone could
easily be hacked, exposing himself and the nation to threats, depending on what information is on his
phone (Kang par. 7). Also, if his phone is able to be hacked, there may be sensitive information that
could be leaked to the world, which could cause major issues with national security. Kang also makes
a main point about his phone being hacked through its internet connection, Twitter requires a
connection to the internet, which exposes the device to security vulnerabilities (Kang par. 6). This
means that his phone could easily be hacked through wireless internet connection. However, Toosi
attacks the topic from a different angle, analyzing how other countries could manipulate Trump s

We re beginning to see what excites him, what angers him, what sets him off. We ve never had this

Wuthering Heights Ambiguity
A variety of narrative devices can be utilized by an author to enhance a story. One such device that
uses ambiguity to create powerful effects is the supernatural, which is [divided] into three categories
[...one of them being the uncanny,] in which [a] rational explanation of the supernatural phenomena is
possible (Lodge 212). In order to make a rational explanation of a supernatural event more believable,
typically a classic rhetoric of the uncanny will use first person narration and discourse in a
documentary form to make the story seem predictable, and therefore more believable (Lodge 214).
Emily Brontë s Wuthering Heights uses the uncanny to create a double interpretation of the ghost
scene in chapter three where the reader can accept either a rational or supernatural explanation to the
events that occurred. Firstly, a supernatural explanation of the events can be supported due to the
narration of the story and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, when Lockwood does encounter Catherine s ghost, the reader is inclined to believe in his

Christian beliefs of the characters during this time period led them to believe that the spirit did leave

characters, including Zillah who wanted to get another proof that [Wuthering Heights] was haunted

The Most Memorable Place Of The World

Asia. To be more specific, one of the most memorable places I ve visited was when my third ship hit
port in Thailand. During one such occasion, I was wandering the streets of Pattaya late at night with
my friends. We noticed there was a crowd congregating around a rickety boxing ring in the middle of
a bar. Around the ring, there were bets being placed. In the old wooden seats, there were men drinking

This was not a move of cowardice, as I could tell neither of the fighters was intimidated by the other.
They had trained for most of their young lives and they were not afraid of anything or anyone. To
them this was just another fight. After they were done figuring each other out, the fight quickly picked
up the pace. The fighters came forward and threw punches and kicks to each other s head and body.
Both kids were putting on a good show and I could tell they were fighting for real. Even though they
were giving it their all, I could sense they loved fighting and there was no place they would rather be.
In each of the corners of the ring, the boys team of trainers and family members was screaming
instructions and words of encouragement. The crowd had also begun to cheer and chant, excited by
the back and forth volley of fists and feet. Even the people across the street started to gain interest and
watched from the sidewalk. The Muay Thai match continued like this, each kid getting their hits in
and even getting knocked down onto the floor. Each round lasted approximately two minutes, with
five rounds total. During the breaks in between rounds, the fighters sipped their water and received
coaching from their team. In my eyes every round seemed to be the same, although that could be the
alcohol in my system at the time that made everything blurry. At the end of the final round, the referee

1. Introduction
Climate change the wicked problem is continuously imposing significant threat to the nature as whole
according to the recent projections (IPCC 2013; Bondeau et al. 2013). This anticipated hazard is
unavoidable to some extent though the source of the problem ( green house gas emission) is barred
right now (IPCC 2014a). Combination of mitigation (reducing or capturing GHG) and adaptation
effort has been suggested both in the short and long term to achieve the complementary advantage (i.e.
cost) and to reduce the risk (IPCC 2014a; 2014b).

Carbon dioxide concentration has increased by 40% since the pre industrial times, largely from fossil
fuel emissions and land use change emissions. Human intervention on the climate structure is
unambiguous. Further emissions of greenhouse gases will cause further warming and changes in all
components of the climate system. Most characteristics of climate change will continue for many
centuries even if emissions are stopped totally at this point (IPCC 2013; Bondeau et al. 2013).
2.2 Mitigation Need
Mitigation is a human intervention to reduce the sources or enhance the sinks of greenhouse gases
(IPCC 2014a). According to Fifth Assessment Report of IPCC (IPCC 2014a), technical and
behavioural mitigation instrument for all transport modes, in addition new infrastructure and urban
redevelopment investments could decrease final energy demand in 2050 by around 40% below the
baseline. Integrated urban planning, transit oriented development, compact urban form that supports
cycling and walking, and new infrastructures such as high speed rail systems that will reduce short
haul air travel demand, can play a vital role for emission reduction (IPCC 2014a); which can be
guided at the very beginning of the policy and plan making through instruments like SEA. Moreover,
the next two decades present a window of opportunity for mitigation in urban areas, as a significant
segment of the world s transition/semi urban areas will be urbanized during this period in

  • 2. The Differences And Similarities Between C + And Java C++ and Java came into view to be exceptionally almost identical programming languages. While there is a lot of usual syntax allocation between the two languages, there are also some very considerable unusual features in both programming languages. Martin (1997) states C++ and Java programming languages differ allot in many aspects and features. More specifically, this is to aware especially to amateurs who would use this specific programming languages their main differences and functions. There is a variance between C++ and Java programming languages in terms of multiple inheritance, class types and array declaration. C++ is a very fast and well built language. The focus of this language is, building code that will run on a specific machine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... C++ work exceedingly well for a system with limited hardware capabilities where the programmer needs precise control over how the system will work and raw speed is of the utmost performance. This could be very critical for some networking applications, especially in embedded systems or other very distinct uses. First, multiple inheritance is an important feature in C++ and programmers believe that it is a very good structuring tool. To acquire directly from more than one class is usually called multiple inheritance. Using this method for programmers would be a trial because failure to use this method correctly will cause errors in coding a certain program. Next, Java supports classes, but does not support structures or unions. All classes in Java ultimately inherit from the object class. This is significantly different from C++ where it is possible to create inheritance trees that are completely unrelated to one another. Lastly, defining an array is needed in C++ but not in case of Java at the time of array declaration, when declaring an array in C++. Declaration of arrays in programming is a prime factor where programmers must be accurate and specific on building their codes and so that executing their codes will not be a big deal for a program to ... The poll industry has recently made two high profile mistakes the 2014 election and a mishap involving 2016 presidential candidates Clinton and Sanders. Even the most prestigious polling companies predicted the wrong outcomes. This has led to a nationwide discussion about the reliability of polls. The reliability of polls has been on a downward spiral for years. Polls have become far less reliable due to an increase in cellphones, internet based polls, annoying telemarketers, and the technique of weighting polls. The first mobile telephone call was made in 1973. The phone weighed over a pound and the device was quite expensive. Having a cellphone ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn And Its Characterization Mills Thomas Ms. Bouchey Eng. Hon. 2nd 3 March 2016 The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and its Characterization In The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain, there is a large use of characterization to develop the characters and is influenced by the time period. Mark Twain was born in 1835, and lived to see the Civil War start. This is a big influence on his writing, because his two most famous works, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. They both take place in the time before the Civil War and both have major themes of race and morals. Mark Twain characterizes Jim and Huck as he builds their bonds and relationships. At the same time he teaches that race should not determine the status of a relationship. Twain characterizes Huck from the beginning. He also characterizes Huck all through his first book, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. When Huck is first introduced, many things are shown about him. Twain shows how simpleminded Huck is and how adventurous his spirit. Huck hates the normal sivilized ways of life and education. This reflects the time period because a big issue in society was being free. The slaves wanted to be free and the regularWhen Huck starts talking about his family s attempts to educate him, he says Miss Watson (...) had come to live with her and took a set at me with a spelling book (Twain 2). This shows how he does not care about traditional education and only learning from experiences. He is wise in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Disadvantages Of Juvenile Correctional Methods Juvenile correctional methods are a key source when it comes to helping treat the juveniles that are in need of help while they are in a correctional facility. These methods can be a different yet rewarding to the juveniles that are wanting to better themselves. Such methods are single sex facilities as well as coed facilities. The importance of single sex programing is reflected in the debate among juvenile justice experts and practitioners concerning the advantages and disadvantages of coed verses single sexed juvenile correctional facilities (Ruddell Thomas, 2009, pg. 150). During the research it is known that there are positive and negative aspects of both that need to be compared as well as contrasted against one another in order to find the balance of both and analyzing them by economic issues, preparation for the outside world, programmatic resources, and cohesion by focusing on the major points within the subjects. In analyzing both single sex coed facilities the perspective of scripture will not only help support the major points, but it will bring more life in a more Godly perspective. While there are many issues that must be taken into consideration when designing a juvenile facility, we would assert that (whenever possible) single sex or coed environments could be considered best practice, including living arrangements, dayrooms, and educational spaces (Ruddell Thomas, 2009, pg. 150). • 6. The Pros And Cons Of Customs Union The reason I chose Customs Union as my topic is to learn more about how members or potential members of a union establish an agreement that benefit all parties. I find it interesting that members of a union are able to influence one another s economic growth, competition and how they can complement one another as well. Having a common trade policy among a group of members and removing all barriers of trade can play a significant role in the success of a business. It saves a lot money, and could be a competitive advantage over competitors. Countries of a union joining can also impact its position in a global market, as well as help the country economically. The ability for a group of countries to come together and help each other is fascinating, and is why I chose to explore this topic more. EXPLANATION OF KEY TERM The third stage of Economic Integration is Customs Union. According to the Encyclopaedia of Britannica, Customs Union is a trade agreement by which a group of countries charges a common set of tariffs to the rest of the world while granting free trade among themselves (Encyclopedia Britannica, 2010). Customs Union is free trade zone with common external tariffs; which helps increase economic efficiency and allows for signatories to establish political and cultural ties. Tariff barriers make it difficult for some countries to sell products in a foreign country because of the additional taxes on imported goods, which is a price advantage to members of a ... • 12. Objectives And Objectives Of An Organization As I ve explained in my previous article, the stakeholders in an organisation are its customers, employers, employees, government, owners and suppliers amongst others. The stakeholder can be a person, group or even an organisation that has an influence in a company. Stakeholders are different from others as they can have a different type of influence on a business. Every business has aims and objectives. An aim is a more broad term and is what the business would like to achieve in the long term, where as an objective is more of a short term thorough approach on how to achieve the long term aim. Detailed objectives are known as SMART objectives, this is a mnemonic acronym, providing criteria to guide when setting objectives. These objectives go as follows: * Specific Means that the objective the business would like to achieve is precise and clearly stated. * Measurable The outcome the firm would like to achieve is a numeric value that can be measured. * Achievable The objective should be possible by the organisation. * Realistic The target is what results can realistically be achieved, given available resources. * Time The objective will be met within a given period of time. Most businesses have general aims which they can break down into detailed objectives. By arranging aims and objectives; firms give themselves a sense of direction and purpose. Moral experience encompasses a person s sense that values that he or she deems important are being realized or thwarted in everyday life. This includes a person s interpretations of a lived encounter, or a set of lived encounters, that fall on spectrums of right wrong, good bad or just unjust. Whenever you use the internet you are benefiting from net neutrality. Net neutrality is what allows us to visit any website at the maximum speed anytime with no slowdowns or interference by ISPs. This is one of the core ideas that internet was founded on. ISPs (Internet Service Providers) are the companies that are trying to restrict and monopolize the internet. • 15. A Farewell Of Arms, By Ernest Hemingway Major events throughout history have resulted from human desire for fulfillment by instituting war, preaching religion, and glorifying love. In A Farewell to Arms, Ernest Hemingway introduces Frederic Henry, an American in the Italian Army during World War I. Frederic Henry s attempts to find his meaning in life, are represented by his attempts to discover the possibilities in war, religion, and love. He does this through his friendship with a Catholic priest, his intense love affair with nurse Catherine Barkley, who ends up pregnant with his child and eventually dies during labor, along with their child, and finally with his position as Lieutenant during the war. Throughout A Farewell to Arms, Ernest Hemingway repeatedly mentions games in war, love, and religion, to illustrate his belief that humans use these as a way to play with and hopefully reach fulfillment but also use them as a distraction from the inevitable ending: death. Hemingway s repeated allusions to games in war, and his portrayal of Henry s attitude about war from beginning to end of the novel shift dramatically; illustrating that war is used as a tool or a game by humans to enrich their lives and avoid death, while systematically stealing the lives of others. This book starts out with a girl named Lisa talking about how her class is learning how to use maps. The story then proceeds to Lisa making many different kinds of maps. Throughout the book, she creates maps of places like her bedroom, her dog s treasure map, and her dog s favorite places. The book talks about important things that need to be added to a map, which I find extremely helpful. This is one reason I think this book is such a great resource to use for social studies. Like the area it originated from, Cajun flavor is spicy, rich, and really, really good! A lot of people don t know that the typical Cajun food was developed by extremely poor people. Refugees and farmers used what they had to feed large families. If you ask a resident of the area, you will find out that Louisiana Creole originated with the settling of European immigrants around 1690. These folks brought with them the influences of European traditions including their cuisine. Most were upper class aristocracy, so Creole today is seen as a classier, fine cuisine while Cajun is more of a common cuisine. As a lot of these people were probably second sons with no hopes of inheriting land or holdings at home in Europe, they arrived here to search out their fortunes. In reality, Louisiana Creole cuisine is a mixture of several different and varied cultures. Soon after the immigrants arrived in the area, native Indians introduced the use of local grown vegetables like corn, ground sassafras and bay leaves. Tomatoes from Central and South America were also introduced. As these ingredients began to see utilization, the Creole cuisine we know today started to take shape. The Creoles that settled in the Louisiana area enjoyed a fairly rich lifestyle. A few years later, the influx of African slaves brought okra seeds into the culture. Through this challenge, he demonstrates the internal battles of good and evil. In his work, he also displays issues of personal morals and alienation. At the time the novella was written, Europe had established territories across the map. It holds true that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely, especially when said power reigns over the fate of humans in society. Conrad illustrates the corruption of power through the books motif of darkness and the renegade of Kurtz. Darkness makes a quick appearance in the literature because it s in the title. The standard in the Victorian era was the men were far away, while the women were morally supportive, but oblivious to the reality of the man s work, although they economically benefitted from it. This proves the way power corrupts because Kurtz abused the opportunities given after falling from the edge of moral standards, even after his Intended attempts to show him the way. In 1902, when Conrad wrote the book, it was common to base culture off of superiority, therefore it was seen that Kurtz was in the Congo for the redemption of natives. In the text, Joseph Conrad gives much respect to the native tribes, Mr. Kurtz, however, has none. Exterminate all brutes! However, he knows why he is really there it is for the terrible murder of his younger brother, William. When unable to enter the town, Victor decides to visit the woods where William was killed. As he approaches the woods, it begins to rain slowly, and as he gets closer the rain becomes more vicious. When he arrives he exclaims, William, dear angel! this is thy funeral, this thy dirge! (Shelly 68). A flash of lightning reveals the silhouette of the ghastly murderer, his own creation, glooming in the midst of trees. This place now holds the memory of this forever for Victor, these are the woods where his brother died, and if he is ever to see these woods again, the memory will come rushing back with them. Not only is this his brother s death bed, but it is also where he discovers that his creation is the cause of the terrible tragedy. And what a more fitting place to have this memory? Pop rap artists like The Fresh Prince popularized baseball caps and neon colored clothing. TLC and Aaliyah emerged as deep iconic fashion influencers to female hip hop listeners. These women wore oversized pants and big flannel button ups coupled with sport bras to add their own touch of femininity to the male dominant industry. Medium(s) OF THIS PORTRAYAL: Movies HOW THE MEDIA PORTRAYAL(S) INFLUENCED MY BELIEFS: Every title that I have have listed involves a girl getting courted by a boy because he saw her one time and was taken away by her beauty, an they immdiatly knew that he had to have her, without ever speaking to her. Like in Cinderella, when she arrives at the ball, the prince instantly falls in love with her because she is so beautiful and stands out from everyone else, and he doesn t even know who she is. Another great example of this is Twilight. Bella has a certain scent to her that Edward immediately falls in love with, without even knowing her. My favrotie example is the movie Say Anything because the main character Lloyd experiences love at first sight with a girl that is the complete opposite from him and is completely out of his league. I love that he just knew that she was meant him. CONSEQUENCE OR IMPACTS OF MY ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. The Extent to which Strategic Environmental Assessment... 1. Introduction Climate change the wicked problem is continuously imposing significant threat to the nature as whole according to the recent projections (IPCC 2013; Bondeau et al. 2013). This anticipated hazard is unavoidable to some extent though the source of the problem ( green house gas emission) is barred right now (IPCC 2014a). Combination of mitigation (reducing or capturing GHG) and adaptation effort has been suggested both in the short and long term to achieve the complementary advantage (i.e. cost) and to reduce the risk (IPCC 2014a; 2014b). Transportation, residential and business energy use and industrial sector is the major contributor of global GHG emission (EPA 2013). These three sectors are influenced actively by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Carbon dioxide concentration has increased by 40% since the pre industrial times, largely from fossil fuel emissions and land use change emissions. Human intervention on the climate structure is unambiguous. Further emissions of greenhouse gases will cause further warming and changes in all components of the climate system. Most characteristics of climate change will continue for many centuries even if emissions are stopped totally at this point (IPCC 2013; Bondeau et al. 2013). 2.2 Mitigation Need Mitigation is a human intervention to reduce the sources or enhance the sinks of greenhouse gases (IPCC 2014a). According to Fifth Assessment Report of IPCC (IPCC 2014a), technical and behavioural mitigation instrument for all transport modes, in addition new infrastructure and urban redevelopment investments could decrease final energy demand in 2050 by around 40% below the baseline. Integrated urban planning, transit oriented development, compact urban form that supports cycling and walking, and new infrastructures such as high speed rail systems that will reduce short haul air travel demand, can play a vital role for emission reduction (IPCC 2014a); which can be guided at the very beginning of the policy and plan making through instruments like SEA. Moreover, the next two decades present a window of opportunity for mitigation in urban areas, as a significant segment of the world s transition/semi urban areas will be urbanized during this period in ...
