Non-chordata- including animals without notochord.

Chordates were evolved sometime 500 million years ago during Cambrian period (invertebrates were also began to evolve in this period) .
Chamberlain (1900) pointed out that all modern chordates possess glomerular kidneys that are designed to remove excess water from body.
It is believed that Chordates have originated from invertebrates.
It is difficult to determine from which invertebrate group the chordates were developed.
Chordate ancestors were soft bodied animals. Hence they were not preserved as Fossils.
However, early fossils of chordates have all been recovered from marine sediments and even modern protochordates are all marine forms.
Also glomerular kidneys are also found in some marine forms such as myxinoids and sharks. That makes the marine origin of chordates more believable.
Chordates evolved from some deuterostome ancestor (echinoderms, hemichordates, pogonophorans etc.) as they have similarities in embryonic development, type of coelom and larval stages.
Many theories infers origin of chordates, hemichordates and echinoderms from a common ancestor.

ORIGIN OF CHORDATES
Animal kingdom is basically divided into two sub kingdoms:
Non-chordata- including animals without notochord.
Chordata- This comprising animals having notochord or chorda dorsalis.
Chordates were evolved sometime 500 million years ago during Cambrian period (invertebrates were also began to evolve in this period) .
Chamberlain (1900) pointed out that all modern chordates possess glomerular kidneys that are designed to remove excess water from body.
It is believed that Chordates have originated from invertebrates.
It is difficult to determine from which invertebrate group the chordates were developed.
Chordate ancestors were soft bodied animals. Hence they were not preserved as Fossils.
However, early fossils of chordates have all been recovered from marine sediments and even modern protochordates are all marine forms.
Also glomerular kidneys are also found in some marine forms such as myxinoids and sharks. That makes the marine origin of chordates more believable.
Chordates evolved from some deuterostome ancestor (echinoderms, hemichordates, pogonophorans etc.) as they have similarities in embryonic development, type of coelom and larval stages.
Many theories infers origin of chordates, hemichordates and echinoderms from a common ancestor.

Adaptations like strong skeletons and claws allow movement on land while highly developed vision aids predation and predator avoidance. Ectothermy limits habitats but basking and shade-seeking regulate temperature. Lungs and partially divided hearts aid gas exchange. Reproduction is usually oviparous but some are ovoviviparous, protecting eggs inside females.
Insects of medical and veterinary importance

Wild Ass

- 5. DIET :- INDIAN ELEPHANTS are herbivoures. Full grown eat up to 240kg of fresh plants in 18hrs. INDIAN ELEPHANTS eat all parts of a tress; twigs, barks, roots, leaves and fruits, they also eat grasses and shrubs. Unfortunately indian elephants will also eat crops planted by people.
- 6. COMMUNICATION :- INDIAN ELEPHANTS use loud trumpets when they are exicted or afraid. They also use chrips, roars and rumbles to communicated. They use body languages such as flapping their ears or raising their tail.
- 7. SOCIAL ORGANISATION :- Elephants are intelligent, social animal live in family group of 6 or more. Sometimes several family groups travels together. A family group is made up of a mother and youngsters. The old males travel alone.
- 8. REPRODUCTION:- Males sexually matures by 15yrs. Of age while female can give birth by 12yrs. A female indian elephants will give birth to one calf every 4yrs. After a pregnancy of 20-22 months. Elephants is polygynous ie. More females than males bread.

People cut down the forest, where indian elephants lives, to grow crops. Humans and elephants can comes into conflicts when the people try to defend their crops(for examples rice and bananas) against the hungry elephants.

NGO’s like WTI,ANCF,ATREE,ARANYAK,NCF,WWF- india putting elephants back into the wild with thw help of forest department.
