The Foxhole Court, By Writer Nora Sakavic Essay
University, he said quietly. It sounded like a dream; it tasted like damnation . This quote is stated in
the book The Foxhole Court by Writer Nora Sakavic. As we know, university is the first formal step of
planning for future destination, analysis all the opportunities, choosing best option, applying strategies
for moving forward. Career orientation or career development process may start from here. Leading a
healthy, solvent and transparent economic life a perfect career should be selected. By analyzing
political economic factors behind such as values in present market demand, how domestic and
international interact with the matter, consistency with developing economy, financial advancement,
market orientation one can choose one s future. Without scrutinizing these sections decisions may take
for personal gain or achievement. This is the why I like to choose The subject Public Administration at
renowned University of Dhaka.
Political Economy :
Political Economy, branch of social science that studies the relationships between individuals and
society and between markets and the state, using a diverse set of tool and methods drawn largely, from
economics, political science and sociology. The term political economy is derived from the Greek
polis, meaning city or state and oikonomos meaning one who manages a household estate. Political
economy thus can be understood as the study of how a country the public s household is managed or
governed, taking into account both

The Disadvantages Of The Monasteries During The Medieval Era
Monasteries during the medieval era were fundamental at creating the very basics of infrastructure
like libraries, water systems, and even providing for communities; however, they often would utilize
these as political tools to gain power and strength within the greater community. The monasteries were
the drop off point for monarchs and the wealthy to leave their wealth after death, thus this allowed for
the religious orders to attain wealth and deposit it back towards their community through
infrastructure. They were able to do this by holding a monopoly over education and allowing
donations to be the cost of getting into heaven. Because the monasteries scribed most of the books at
the time they were able to control the education system. The people around the monasteries were in
need of education from the teachers within the monasteries. Because of this the monasteries were able
to control the educated people within society and the education system as a whole. Through the
wealthy people surrounding the monasteries, the Catholic church was able to acquire the land needed
for the monasteries. The wealthy nobles of the land would donate money to buy the land for the ...

Working Memory Trainings and Limits of Its Transfer
Working Memory Trainings and Limits of Its Transfer Working memory is the ability one has to
manipulate and maintain information mentally, while ignoring other irrelevant distractions and
interference in the brain. In recent years, there has been an increasing amount of interest in this field.
Research in this area is in fact, still a currently active and quickly developing area. Working memory
is so essential in every person s everyday life that one would not be able to function and perform their
daily tasks without a sufficient amount of working memory capacity these are simple things such as
figuring a tip, remembering a phone number, a story, or even people s names. Under the information
processing theory, working memory is likened to a computer. In this theory of cognitive development,
working memory is analogous to that of a Random Access Memory (RAM) in a computer where data
is stored directly, temporarily, and is manipulated by the mind (Lutz, Huitt, 2003). This brief duration
of data operates and lasts approximately from three to twenty seconds. Hence, momentary by design,
working memory involves a short term use of memory and attention. Additionally, the executive
processes are often associated and implicated with working memory in complex cognition. It serves to
monitor and control thoughts in the mind and it includes skills such as problem solving, inhibition,
controlling attention, and representing information (Carpenter, Just, Reichle, 2000).

Analysis Of Reyna Grande s The Distance Between Me
In the memoir The Distance Between us, written by Reyna Grande in 2012, U.S., Reyna Grande told
her story from childhood to adulthood, she described her relationship with her family and how it was
affected by the distance between them. In her childhood, she was separated from her father and later
from her mother, making her live with her grandmother Evila. A few years later, her mother, Juana,
returned to Mexico, but she wasn t the same happy and sweet mother Reyna had remembered, and it
was because Reyna s father got another woman. Later in the story, Reyna s father returned to Mexico
and decided to take the kids with him to the U.S. In the second half of the memoir, Reyna described
her life in the U.S., her experiences, the abuses she received and how she went through a lot of things
to become a successful woman. At the ending of the story, she described her feelings towards her
father in a bittersweet way: What was needed was something I was struggling to give my forgiveness.
The day before my thirty sixth birthday, I found myself at my father s hospital bed as his life support
was turned off. As I held my father s hand, and my life with him flashed through my mind, I thought
about that question I had often asked myself: If had known what life with my father would be like,
would I still followed him to El Otro Lado? You made me who I am, I thought as he took his last
breath. And I knew then that the answer to my question was yes (322, Grande). The Distance

The Failure Of The Middle Of His Stories

The Failure to Cope
J.D. Salinger drops the reader into the middle of his stories. Without any sense of characters, setting,
or plot, the reader is thrown into the lives of others as they scramble to unearth the truth behind the
scenes. Salinger provides complex stories of relatable characters; some are stories of happiness and
others are of loss and dysfunction. Often times, the characters have difficulties dealing with the harsh
realities of their lives and have to look towards alternate means of coping. Society fosters an overly
structured environment with little room for atypical relationships, ideals, and behaviors. Anything that
is outside of the normal is immediately written off and labeled as deviant behavior, something that is
often frowned upon in this day and age. The characters in Nine Stories by J.D. Salinger use various
coping mechanisms to escape the reality that societal norms and traditionalism present. Seymour
Glass of A Perfect Day for Bananafish is a twisted character who, having returned from the traumas of
war, has a hard time fitting back into a routine of normalcy. His partner, Muriel, is more interested in
the material things that surround her than she is with her lover. When Seymour cannot find the
partnership that he needs with Muriel, he is forced to switch to an alternate source of companionship.
He meets a young girl named Sybil on the beach, and quickly bonds with her.

includes Chinese Americans. I know myself that it s hard living in a place where there is racism and

depressive symptoms than those of a white person. They stated Family and parenting factors were
found to be associated with Chinese American adolescents depressive symptoms, including family
functioning (Crane et al. 2005), family conflict (Juang et al. 2007; Lim et al. 2009), supportive
parenting (Kim amp; Ge 2000), parental control (Juang et al. 2007; Lim et al. 2009), and parental
monitoring (Kim et al. 2009; Kim amp; Ge 2000). Like what was stated in the previous paragraph, it
said that Chinese American adolescents have less mental health and behavioral problems. The reason
being is because the children are able to communicate with their parents more in which the family
regulates a set of norms and just talking to one another. In Yuwen and Chen s study, they recruited
Chinese American adolescents from a Chinese school and a church. The criteria listed to be in the
study was that the person had to self identify themselves as either Chinese, Taiwanese, Chinese
American, or Taiwanese American, had to be between the ages of 12 and 19, and had one parent who
was born in china or Taiwan (page 237). They conducted two focus groups and the questions
(containing 15 questions) were asked in either English or Mandarin (depending on the adolescents
preference). The adolescents also had to fill out a questionnaire. Some

The Plan For An Integrative Negotiation
Introduction Negotiation is the process whereby people attempt to settle what each shall give and take
or perform and receive in a transaction between them as defined by Rubin and Brown (as quoted in
Stoshikj, 2014, p. 32). This action is usually held between two parties or more in order to discover a
common ground or reach a mutual agreement. It has come under the company s attention that there are
some unresolved issues regarding several different concerns such as air pollution, water contamination
and council land rates on company land in Mortlake, Queensland. Strategy Implemented Overall, the
integrative strategy will be implemented in most of the negotiating process. Van Boven and Thompson
(as cited in Dong Won, 2010) indicated that when both parties are involved in an integrative
negotiation, they get a more exact idea of what the other party desires and increasing the possibility of
mutual gain (p. 2). Furthermore, Pruitt; Thompson (as cited in Han, Kwon, Bae Park, 2012) mentioned
that the negotiators are able to benefit from the win win situation, meanwhile preserving the
relationship (p. 1). While both parties are trying to resolve the current issues, maintaining a strong
relationship is more important as both parties are reliant on each other. The first issue, which is the
deteriorating air quality, is connected to the absence of road paving. While almost half of the roads are
actually company owned and used to transport the minerals, the council insisted

Types Of Real Estate Properties
Real estate valuation is also known as property valuation or land valuation and defined as valuing the
real estate property. There are two types of real estate properties: residential and commercial.
Commercial property is a property that is designed for the sale of goods and services or for the
purpose of manufacture of a product. Residential property is a property, building or solely for the
purpose of use by a person or a family to live in on a day to day basis. Examples of commercial
properties are office, buildings, malls, and apartments whereas, residential properties are homes,
single family homes, and condominiums.

Condominium is defined as the collection of building of families along with their land on which they
sit. These can be single family owned, known as detached condominiums or made up of a group of
homes of various families, known as site condominiums. The appraisal of condominium can be done
by income method, in which the returns from the property can be compared with the cost applied in
the property.
Land is the property that can be used for the construction of building or flats, apartments, office,
malls, etc. These have higher value than manufactured homes or buildings as these can be
manufactured at the wish of the owner of the land. The methods used for valuation of land are cost of
development approach and comparison method.
Valuation of Single Family Homes
Sales comparison method is the method that includes the comparison of a property with quite similar
characteristics and with the property that is recently sold. It is the best method to appraise a family
home in a sub urban neighborhood because in suburban areas, a property can be assessed only by
comparing two properties with similar properties. This method is also known as market data approach,
and the condition of the property and the important concepts behind this method are as follows:
The property should be sold in a competitive and open market only in the last year.
The property that is to be compared should be similar to the subject property as much as possible, but

Soren Chemical Case Study
1. Why is Soren Chemical struggling to sell Coracle? In particular, please discuss how the channel
structure affects the sales of Coracle.
Soren Chemical is new to developing a consumer brand (it partners with formulators to use private
label branding for its Kailan MW line). Therefore, they are relatively inexperienced with marketing
consumer oriented brands whereby they have to handle directly with wholesalers and also market to
retailers, pool service professionals and consumers. This inexperience might have caused
miscommunication between channels as seen when pool service professionals and specialty retailers
had made inquires about Coracle but only 30% recalled receiving the Coracle material. Also 70% of
them stated that Coracle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To calculate the annual EVC, we need to take reference value plus differentiation value. The reference
value is the cost of substitute, which is ClearBlu s annual cost of $56.25. The differentiation value
includes Coracle s increase in chemical savings. Coracle reduces the need for additional chlorine,
shock treatments and enzymes, thus reducing pool owners annual chemical cost by 20% to 30%
(average of 25%). ClearBlu reduces annual chemical cost by 15%, thus the increase in savings by
Coracle is 10% (25% 15%). The annual chemical cost (excluding clarifiers) is $300. Calculation of
Coracle s annual EVC: $56.25+ 0.1x $300= $86.25.
3. Should Soren Chemical adopt a push or a pull strategy? Why?
Coracle, being a new brand should first adopt a push strategy since there is low brand loyalty and low
brand awareness. This will generate exposure and encourage distributors to stock up on Coracle. Only
25% of consumers understand and use clarifiers regularly. This shows that there is low involvement in
purchasing decision and perhaps an impulse item as a residential clarifier. And thus a push strategy is
a good way to promote the product. However, since product benefits are not well understood by
consumers, Soren can also adopt a pull strategy in communicating the actual value of Coracle, and let
consumers know about the annual EVC rather than unit cost. It is hard to promote Coracle to the
distributors since they understand that low annual cost of Coracle comes

in the novel through the use of language. In the beginning of the movie Alex and his gang run
violently through the streets of their city and commit all kind of violent things that includes them

emerging demographic of more youth oriented consumers, is focused on trendy styles, then Sears has
a significant weakness in that it is not among the top choices amongst the competition by any means.
In the high end market, competitors such as Holt Renfrew, Harry Rosen, The Bay (which has taken
back lost market share under the guidance of CEO Bonnie Brooks) and the impending arrival of

The Pros And Cons Of Planned Parenthood
V) Planned Parenthood
To reiterate how important symbol creation and media framing are to modern scandals, look no further
than the allegations brought on family planning organization Planned Parenthood in 2015. In many
ways, the scandals themselves were nearly identical in composition. David Daleiden, a journalist and
founder of the pro life group the Center for Medical Progress, accumulated undercover footage at
eleven Planned Parenthood offices claiming to be a representative for a fetal tissue procurement
business. In the footage, abortion clinic doctors and executives [admit] that their fetal tissue
procurement agreements are profitable for clinics and help keep their bottom line healthy. A report
from the Center for Medical Progress goes into detail about Planned Parenthood works with
StemExpress, LLC, and several other companies which supposedly profit off of fetal tissue.
In fact, though the Center for Medical Progress does not seem to be affiliated with any larger
organization like biggovernment.com was with Breitbart, there is a relatively noticeable attention to
academic detail in his approach to investigative journalism. The report previously mentioned has full
citations (most of them are either references to small, conservative news sites or citations from their
own website) and there is a portion of centerformedicalprogress.org entirely dedicated to archived
documents taken from Planned Parenthood chapters, including fetus tissue invoices and pricing

Is Paul A Good Writer
Is Paul a good writer? is a very interesting question. When we say good writer are we talking about his
skills in the language he used to write (Greek) or are we asking the question if his writings made any
difference in people s lives during his time as well our time. Basing on what we know about Paul s
education with or during the time of Gamaliel in Jerusalem 1 one can argue Paul well educated to
write. Paul s pastoral ministry resulted in planting the churches and equipping leaders for the ministry
in his time and continues to guide us in our current ministry. Therefore, I can say with confidence Paul
indeed is a good writer. However, we still have to consider some facts scholars have been working
hard to bring to our attention. Traditionally, the church had simply assumed that any letter containing
Paul s name as a sender was actually written by him. Of the 27 books in the New Testament, 14 have
been attributed to Paul; 7 of these are widely considered authentic and Paul s own, while the
authorship of the other 7 is disputed. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Barbiturates, Benzodiazepines
History The history of depressants stretches back thousands of years. Alcohol, the prototypical
depressant, was consumed by humans as early as 10,000 B.C., as established by the discovery of beer
jugs from the late Stone Age. Other natural depressants such as opium also have ancient origins.
Historically, barbiturates in particular have been used as truth serums because people under the
influence of these drugs often speak without thinking Classifications Depressants can be divided into

Gender Roles In Ancient Greece
In our culture, men and women are expected to act in certain ways during a sexual encounter, based on
their gender. During a sexual encounter, men are expected to be dominant and active, while women
are expected to be submissive and passive. The existence of gender roles has been a constant theme
throughout humanity. In Ancient Greece, sexual gender roles that resemble modern sexual gender
roles existed, but were not a 1:1 comparison with what we have today. Women in ancient Greece were
considered vastly inferior to men. Sexual relationships between men and women only existed to bear
children. Instead, older men had similar gender roles to men today, while young, prepubescent boys
filled the role filled by women today. In this relationship, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
MacKinnon believes that the first amendment, which guarantees freedom of speech, should not protect
pornography as it directly infringes on the freedom of speech of women. Censorship of pornography,
an act that would limit freedom of speech, would actually lead to a greater net freedom of speech, as it
would greatly boost women in society, helping to close the gap between men and women.
MacKinnon s claims are not without fault. Much of MacKinnon s literature on the topic of equality in
regards to pornography was written in 1980, a time before internet pornography. Internet pornography
greatly increases the accessibility of pornography, which should, by MacKinnon s logic, greatly
increase the overall number of rape cases. However, this has not been the case, as the overall number
of rapes has steadily decreased since

Example Of Respect Research Paper
If you want to be respected by others, the great thing is to respect yourself. Only by that, only by self
respect will you compel others to respect you. (Fyodor Dostoyevsky) This means that respect always
starts from the inside, and if you want to be respected you need self respect. Respect is an admiration
for someone s ability, qualities, and achievements. Three people that show respect, due to their actions
are Harriet Tubman, Abuelo, and my mom.
Harriet Tubman was a courageous woman, who saved over 300 slaves. Tubman was determined to
help the slaves in the harsh conditions, which makes her the person others would respect. One

Cathedral As A Central Catholic Church
Cathedral is a central Catholic church. Differences between cathedrals and churches are that cathedrals
are the seat of the bishop and a centre of worship and mission. (The Association of English
Cathedrals) Because it s a central of Catholic churches, all the Catholic churches around a cathedral
receives order and worship services from it. Cathedrals are known for central position in Catholic, but
what we have to focus is beauty of their art of structures and art of symbolism. There are many
Catholic cathedrals around in the world. They have their own designs based on the architecture history
of different countries. For example, in Italy, columns that attached to the walls were treated as ugly
structure. Milan Cathedral was constructed in 1800s in Italy. It is a great example that shows how
Italians had trouble to accepting Gothic style to their building long time ago. They barely finished
construction with help from architect from French. It seems gorgeous due to complicate flower
patterns and statues on outside, but it considered as a chaos because of mixture of Italian and French
architecture. (Sir Banister chapter 14) Cathedrals and churches have statues of the saints beautiful
stain glasses. Each of them represents story of bibles and used to show greatness of God. But the
beauty of Cathedrals is different in each countries. For example, cathedrals in the US have their beauty
of art of symbolism and structure, but European Roman Catholic cathedrals contain more

Advances in materials technology have greatly influenced the equipment used in sport over the
centuries. In the modern age the limits of human performance have been reached and further
improvements can only be made by developing the equipment used. The introduction of strong,

in A Caruna where the headquarters now lay and featured lower priced lookalikes of high end, popular
products selling to women, men, and children (Zara (Clothing) 2009). Beginning in the nineteen
eighties Zara began experimenting with differentiating the design, manufacturing and distributing

A Comparison of Two Film Openings to Great Expectations
The story Great Expectations is based in Victorian times and was written by Charles Dickens in the
1860s. This novel which Charles Dickens wrote has been produced as a film one version by David
Lean and another by B.B.C. The B.B.C version is the modern version and the version produced by
David Lean is the traditional version. I will be comparing these two versions of the openings to Great
Expectations . These two openings use varying techniques to very different effects. Both films set out
to introduce isolation and vulnerability.

The book which we see at the start dissolves from one shot to another; in this case it dissolves from
the book to Pip running to the churchyard. The narrative (voice over) gives a wide perspective. When
Pip is running to the churchyard there is a long shot used, this long shot makes Pip look small and
vulnerable. The first things we see in the long shot are the gibbets where the convicts are hanged; this
tells us that Pip is in a dangerous and isolated place.
Then the camera shot is in the graveyard, where the creepy sound effects such as the trees creaking
and the wind whistling come into play. The scenery is very spine chilling in the graveyard. The wind
gets louder as Pip gets more tense and the tree creeks just before the convict arrives so the entrance is
made more dramatic. We see a tree from Pips eyes this makes him look very small and vulnerable. We
also hear an owl hoot again just before the convict arrives, this hoot acts like a warning to Pip that he
is in danger. It is an effective technique used by David Lean uses with the owl hooting just before the
convict arrives because an owl represents danger in many stories.
The convict is first seen when he jumps out on Pip out of the left hand side of the screen. The convict
jumps into the shot on the left hand side because the brain automatically

The Jericho Tower
One of the greatest mysteries of the Neolithic period in Ancient Israel is the Jericho Tower. At a time
first attempting permanent village settlements, building a monumental tower was not done on a whim.
The tower represents the first monumental building structure in the Levant, but what was it built for?
This question has been on the minds of archaeologists for years. The three main theories behind the
tower are for defensive purposes, flood prevention, and in clock tower function. Neolithic society had
just begun forming agricultural communities, but there were still factions of pastoral nomads
wandering the hills. The first theory behind the construction of the Jericho Tower was for defensive
purposes. The wall, which in one place is supported by the Tower, and the size and shape of the Tower
itself point to being a set of defensive structures for the settlement. However, since the Tower is on the
inside of the wall, the ability to shoot invaders is greatly prohibited. If this was a tower for defense, it
would likely be put on the outside of the wall in order to have better accuracy with oncoming
invaders. Another reason the Tower probably was not a defensive structure is the lack of hostile
attacks in the region. There are very few signs of other fortified settlements in this region and there
has been no ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Quruntul is only one part of the clock tower theory. The next part considers the placement of the
Tower with the alignment of the summer solstice. At the time of building the Tower, it is very likely
that the sunset on the summer solstice would line up with the Tower and Mt. Quruntul. If so this
depicts the shift from pastoral nomads to agricultural villages that is occurring. Telling time is an
important feature of farming because it sets the time for the planting season. Thus, if the Tower was
built to signal when the summer season began, it indicates that Jericho was moving into a more

Asian Americans often come together to advocate for their community in various ways. For example,
to raise awareness of the lack of representation of Asian Americans in Hollywood, people may

Good morning / afternoon Mr Retsos and 10HT today I will be speaking to you about the Warsaw
ghetto uprising but before that I will give you a brief summary of the Warsaw ghetto. When Poland
was invaded by Germany in September 1939, more that 400,000 Jews in Warsaw, the capital of
Poland, were imprisoned in an particular area of the city which was no more than 2 square miles. In
November 1940, this ghetto was sealed off by brick walls, barbed wire and armed guards. If anyone
was caught leaving the ghetto they would be shot on sight. The amount of food that was brought into
the ghetto was controlled by the Nazis. Each month more than thousands of Jews died due to disease
and starvation. There were numerous resistance group but today I will be talking about the Jewish
combat Organization, ZOB. It all began in July 1942, where 6,000 Jews per day were transferred to
the Treblinka concentration camp. The Nazis told the remaining Jews that their relatives and friends
were sent to work camps, but word soon reached the ghetto that deportation to the camp meant

What Was The Impact Of Nationalism In Germany Between 1815...
Nationalism was a result of a myriad of contributing factors which had a plethora of significant
impacts on Germany during the years 1815 and 1871. Nationalism is an ideology based on the sense
of loyalty and devotion one has to their nation and the beliefs that those who share a common
language, history, and culture should constitute an independent nation free of foreign domination. The
first, and perhaps most significant, effect that nationalism had upon Germany was that it led to
German unification in 1871. Another impact that nationalism had in Germany was that it allowed
Germans to develop a sense of national identity. Nationalism also played a huge role in enabling
Germany to become a dominant power within Europe. Therefore, nationalism ... Show more content

Many attempts to unify the separate German speaking countries were made prior to its official
unification, however, they were all ultimately unsuccessful. This was due to the fact that although the
people were Germanic, they had little sense of a national identity. Nationalism was a driving force
behind the development of a national consciousness as it assisted people in realising that they were all
German and, as a result, were all similar in many ways. These commonalities encouraged the
emergence of a distinct German identity. The biggest cultural factor was undoubtedly the German
language. Although there were different dialects used among the states, these variations emerged from
the same source, hence, the German people had shared a common language. All the states also shared
customs and a common culture, which stemmed from similar tastes in literature and music. There was
an increase in German literature, from the works of Goethe and Schiller, that recognised common
German characteristics and an interest in folklore also emerged at the time, as a result of the works of
The Brothers Grimm, who presented these tales as German in origin and changed details that
suggested different origins. What became the German national anthem was a poem that read
Deutschland über alles / Über alles in der Welt , which translates to Germany above all else / Above
all else in the world . The task of creating the German nation state was one that required and generated
a significant amount of hope in the citizens of Germany, who were able to transcend territories,

Brown and the NAACP appealed to the Supreme Court on October 1, 1951. Their case was combined
with other cases that challenged school segregation in other states. The Supreme Court first heard the
case on December 9, 1952 but failed to reach a decision so they reargued the case on December 7,
1953. The Supreme Court struck down the separate but equal doctrine of Plessy for public education
and ruled in favor of the plaintiffs, and required the desegregation of schools across America.
Education is possibly the most important function of state and local governments today. Attendance
laws and the amount of money spent of our education system both demonstrate the recognition of the
importance placed on education in our society. Education is required in the performance of the most
basic public responsibilities which includes the service in our armed forces. A good education is the

Adi people reside mostly in the foothills of the Eastern Himalaya and they are one of the major tribes
of Arunachal Pradesh (Mandal et al. 2002). Out of the total 18 districts of the state Adi tribe live in six

was not entirely lost, but still remains in some parts of the reproductive and excretory systems.

The Lycosidae uses its chelicerae to hold its prey before using its venomous fangs into paralysing it.
(Nicholas, 2011) Similarly, snakes inject venom quickly into its prey and waits for it to immobilise
before digesting it, this adaptation prevents preys from escaping and increases its chance of survival.
The Wolf spider and Nursery web spider (Pisauridae) are closely related and both exhibit similar but
different characteristics which highlights the divergences of the species. They both have eight eyes
which puts them in the superfamily Lycosoidea, the Pisauridae has similar sized eyes whilst the wolf
spider has two big eyes at the front and six smaller ones. Their maternal care is also alike; the wolf
spider carries its egg sac from its spinnerets for 4 6 weeks whilst Pisauridae carries its egg sacs in their
chelicerae for 2 3 weeks before building a protective tent to safe guard them in. (Nicholas, 2011).
Since Wolf Spiders are poor dispersers (Marshall et al, 2000), they are likely to be affected by human
activity such as habitat destruction from land clearing, and pesticides used on crops and grasses. This
is likely to affect the Wolf Spider as habitat destruction would not only remove its home, but also

The Role Of Marine Seaweeds For Enhanced Anticoagulant...
The seaweeds are a highly nutritive source for food and feed rich in minerals and dietary fibers
(Burtin, 2003; Chandini et al., 2008) and they are also very rich in bioactive compounds especially
their polysaccharides and polyphenols that have many health benefits (Wijesekara et al., 2011). The
scientists have applied various effective techniques to extract this bioactive compounds that involved
chemicals and enzymes (Heo et al., 2003; Ekanayake et al., 2008), but there are many limitations for
these techniques such as complexity, chemicals toxicity and high costs (Hoe et al., 2003).
Marine lactic acid bacteria (LAB) are adapted to live in the marine habitat (Kathiresan and
Thiruneelakandan, 2007) they are more suitable for the fermentation of marine biomasses and
conversion of its complex macromolecules to simple compounds. The use of marine LAB isolates in
the fermentation of marine seaweeds for enhanced anticoagulant activity has been reported
(Shobharani et al., 2013). Moreover, the use of LAB having the probiotic properties in production of
functional food can preserve the biomass and increase its value and health benefits (Taranto et al.,
2003; Molinaa et al., 2012).
Therefore the present study was carried out with the objective of isolation of marine LAB having the
probiotic traits to be used as a well defined starter culture in the fermentation of marine biomasses for

What Are The Gypsies In 100 Years Of Solitude
100 Years of Solitude Gabriel Marquez Chapter Notes Angel Almora Chapter 1: The story begins with
Aureliano Buendia facing a firing squad remembering his childhood. Seems to remember a specific
moment in his past more. WE are introduced to Macondo a house that seemed to be built around
nature and was in perfect harmony with itself. Gypsies came into Macondo every month. Melquiades
is also introduced in this chapter as a heavy Gypsie that begins to announce his discovery as the eighth
wonder of the world. He introduces magnets! Jose Arcadio Buendia wanted to use the magnets to
uncover gold. Here his wife Ursula is introduced into the plot. Jose s plan failed. The gypsies returned
in the month of March and this time displayed a different scientific ... Show more content on

Pilar ternera gives birth to Jose Arcadio s son and names him Arcadio. Why does the author like to use
the same name over and over again? Eventually a young little girl arrives in Macondo with a letter
from supposedly a relative of Jose Arcadio Buendia. The girl is carrying the bones of her parents in
order to give them a proper burial but Macondo doesn t have a cementary since the town has not had a
person die there. Eventually Rebeca joins the family; that is the name of the young girl. Rebecca
seems to have strange habits such as eating dirt, and sucking her thumb. They eventually get rid of it.
The town gets a strange feeling and a strange disease and its imsomnia and memory loss. The memory
loss became so bad that Aureliano had to write the name and purpose of everything down and label
everything. The town also begins to mysteriously suffer from insomnia which is later on cured.
Melquiades who was believed to be dead comes back to Macondo and gives Jose Arcadio Buendia the
cure to get rid of insomnia. Melquiades also brings a new invention called the daguerreotype. Jose
Arcadio Buendia tries to prove that God exists by capturing his image in a daguerreotype of

Loneliness Isolation in of Mice and Men
An idea I found interesting in the novel Of Mice And Men, by John Steinbeck was loneliness and
isolation. I found this idea interesting because it helped me understand how important it is to be
surrounded by people. George and Lennie s friendship contrasts this idea as they are friends and they
have each other, whereas most of the other ranch workers travel alone. The idea of loneliness was
strongly conveyed through the characters Crooks and Curley s wife, they are both key examples of
lonely and segregated characters. The location of the ranch also represents the idea of isolation as the
Spanish translation of the town s name Soledad means loneliness. Crooks is perhaps the most
segregated character in the novel and therefore ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By having no name, she seems to be even more friendless, and I think this is interesting because to get
to know someone and try to make friends with them, a name is a good place to start. She regularly
enters the bunkhouse, apparently looking for Curley, but as the novel progresses, we become aware
that she is actually pretending to look for Curley just so she can talk to someone I get awful lonely,
conveys this realization. The men at the ranch become aware of her loneliness when she reveals to
them that she is alone Think I don t like to talk to someone ever once in a while? Think I like to stick
in that house alla time? Curley s wife s loneliness leads her to talk to Lennie and let him feel her hair.
Unfortunately for both characters, Lennie does not realise his own strength and accidentally breaks her
neck in anxiety and panic. In this case, I found the idea of loneliness interesting because it made me
think about loneliness and how it can have a negative effect on people. Humans need friendship to
stay connected and part of society and I found this interesting because I feel that I am surrounded by
good spirited spirited people who do have friends and this really contrasts with the situations in the
novel. The idea of loneliness and isolation is shown though the use of contrast George and Lennie
have a friendship which allows them to have support and someone to talk to that gives a damn about
us. This

Super-Friendly Humor In Ken Daurio s Despicable Me
Despicable Me is a kid and adult friendly comedy that will draw you in from the very first scene
involving a bratty kid and the pyramids in Egypt. Throughout the script you will find yourself
chuckling at the yellow characters, also known as the minions, and their hilarious nonsense behavior.
This screen play is filled with child friendly humor that most adults would also be entertained by.
The plot of Despicable Me focuses around the eventful life of Gru, a not so successful super villain,
who adopts three girls and then uses them to help him out do his rival Vector. With the girls help Gru
plans to shrink and steal the moon. (Daurio) This is an interesting plot, with a amusing climax scene,
that keeps the reader involved and entertained. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One thing that could have been improved is the many unfilmable things, like a characters thoughts,
that do not belong in the screenplay. (Url) These things should be shown through the actions of the
characters. For example instead of just writing what the character is thinking something, which leaves
room for the reader s imagination to wonder what is going on with the character, tell exactly what
expressions need to be on the characters face and have a dialogue that contributes to that also. There
are several times throughout the screen play that this happens. Other than the few times that this
mistake was made I feel as if the screen play was well written and Daurio made vigilant efforts to
make sure that these mistakes were not made often. There is plenty of white space throughout the
screen play which is one thing that helped tremendously in the contribution to Despicable Me being
such a relaxed read. Every paragraph of action was contained to three lines or less which Kelms,
author of How to Write a Script article, made out to be a crucial part of keeping a readers interest. This
ensures that you don t over write and leave a reader bored. (Kelms)
Daurio did a tremendous job when it came to getting the story across without taking up to much time.
The screen play got right to it and was not bogged down with details that would serve no purpose in
the

The influence of the Roman Concrete and Arch
INTRODUCTION
Ancient Rome achieved several nice accomplishments that have influenced varied cultures. Varied
governments, together with the U. S., have adopted parts of jus civile. Roman literature, like the
Aeneid, remains browse nowadays. This paper can examine the cultural Aeneid, remains browse

structure in building construction that might carry lots of weight. An arch may be a curvilinear
structure that is typically manufactured from stone, brick, concrete, or, a lot of recently, steel. Its
purpose is to support or strengthen a building. Most arches incorporate wedge shaped blocks. The
highest center stone, called the keystone, is the last block to be inserted. During construction, a
wooden frame often supports arches. When the frame removed, both sides of the arch press against the
keystone and thereby support the arch.
Body of the historic: From historical reading, understand The Romans did not invent the arch. Indeed,
arches been used since prehistoric times. The ancient Egyptians, Babylonians, and Greeks all used it.
The purpose of the arch in these cultures, however, was limited to supporting small structures, such as
storerooms, and people often used columns to support the roof. This design limited the size and scope
of a building. As a result, builders could not construct extremely large palaces or government

The Murray Darling river travels through many states in Australia including NSW and Queensland
making it the biggest and most important source of water in Australia. The Murray Darling is largely

The Disadvantages Of The Monasteries During The Medieval Era Monasteries during the medieval era were fundamental at creating the very basics of infrastructure like libraries, water systems, and even providing for communities; however, they often would utilize these as political tools to gain power and strength within the greater community. The monasteries were the drop off point for monarchs and the wealthy to leave their wealth after death, thus this allowed for the religious orders to attain wealth and deposit it back towards their community through infrastructure. They were able to do this by holding a monopoly over education and allowing donations to be the cost of getting into heaven. Because the monasteries scribed most of the books at the time they were able to control the education system. The people around the monasteries were in need of education from the teachers within the monasteries. Because of this the monasteries were able to control the educated people within society and the education system as a whole. Working Memory Trainings and Limits of Its Transfer Working Memory Trainings and Limits of Its Transfer Working memory is the ability one has to manipulate and maintain information mentally, while ignoring other irrelevant distractions and interference in the brain. In recent years, there has been an increasing amount of interest in this field. Research in this area is in fact, still a currently active and quickly developing area. Working memory is so essential in every person s everyday life that one would not be able to function and perform their daily tasks without a sufficient amount of working memory capacity these are simple things such as figuring a tip, remembering a phone number, a story, or even people s names. Under the information processing theory, working memory is likened to a computer. In this theory of cognitive development, working memory is analogous to that of a Random Access Memory (RAM) in a computer where data is stored directly, temporarily, and is manipulated by the mind (Lutz, Huitt, 2003). This brief duration of data operates and lasts approximately from three to twenty seconds. Hence, momentary by design, working memory involves a short term use of memory and attention. Additionally, the executive processes are often associated and implicated with working memory in complex cognition. It serves to monitor and control thoughts in the mind and it includes skills such as problem solving, inhibition, controlling attention, and representing information (Carpenter, Just, Reichle, 2000). At the ending of the story, she described her feelings towards her father in a bittersweet way: What was needed was something I was struggling to give my forgiveness. The day before my thirty sixth birthday, I found myself at my father s hospital bed as his life support was turned off. As I held my father s hand, and my life with him flashed through my mind, I thought about that question I had often asked myself: If had known what life with my father would be like, would I still followed him to El Otro Lado? You made me who I am, I thought as he took his last breath. And I knew then that the answer to my question was yes (322, Grande). The Distance ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Without any sense of characters, setting, or plot, the reader is thrown into the lives of others as they scramble to unearth the truth behind the scenes. Salinger provides complex stories of relatable characters; some are stories of happiness and others are of loss and dysfunction. Often times, the characters have difficulties dealing with the harsh realities of their lives and have to look towards alternate means of coping. Society fosters an overly structured environment with little room for atypical relationships, ideals, and behaviors. Anything that is outside of the normal is immediately written off and labeled as deviant behavior, something that is often frowned upon in this day and age. The characters in Nine Stories by J.D. Salinger use various coping mechanisms to escape the reality that societal norms and traditionalism present. Seymour Glass of A Perfect Day for Bananafish is a twisted character who, having returned from the traumas of war, has a hard time fitting back into a routine of normalcy. His partner, Muriel, is more interested in the material things that surround her than she is with her lover. The Plan For An Integrative Negotiation Introduction Negotiation is the process whereby people attempt to settle what each shall give and take or perform and receive in a transaction between them as defined by Rubin and Brown (as quoted in Stoshikj, 2014, p. 32). This action is usually held between two parties or more in order to discover a common ground or reach a mutual agreement. It has come under the company s attention that there are some unresolved issues regarding several different concerns such as air pollution, water contamination and council land rates on company land in Mortlake, Queensland. Strategy Implemented Overall, the integrative strategy will be implemented in most of the negotiating process. Van Boven and Thompson (as cited in Dong Won, 2010) indicated that when both parties are involved in an integrative negotiation, they get a more exact idea of what the other party desires and increasing the possibility of mutual gain (p. 2). Furthermore, Pruitt; Thompson (as cited in Han, Kwon, Bae Park, 2012) mentioned that the negotiators are able to benefit from the win win situation, meanwhile preserving the relationship (p. 1). While both parties are trying to resolve the current issues, maintaining a strong relationship is more important as both parties are reliant on each other. Therefore, they are relatively inexperienced with marketing consumer oriented brands whereby they have to handle directly with wholesalers and also market to retailers, pool service professionals and consumers. The reference value is the cost of substitute, which is ClearBlu s annual cost of $56.25. The differentiation value includes Coracle s increase in chemical savings. Coracle reduces the need for additional chlorine, shock treatments and enzymes, thus reducing pool owners annual chemical cost by 20% to 30% (average of 25%). ClearBlu reduces annual chemical cost by 15%, thus the increase in savings by Coracle is 10% (25% 15%). The annual chemical cost (excluding clarifiers) is $300. Calculation of Coracle s annual EVC: $56.25+ 0.1x $300= $86.25. 3. Should Soren Chemical adopt a push or a pull strategy? Why? Coracle, being a new brand should first adopt a push strategy since there is low brand loyalty and low brand awareness. This will generate exposure and encourage distributors to stock up on Coracle. Only 25% of consumers understand and use clarifiers regularly. This shows that there is low involvement in purchasing decision and perhaps an impulse item as a residential clarifier. And thus a push strategy is a good way to promote the product. However, since product benefits are not well understood by consumers, Soren can also adopt a pull strategy in communicating the actual value of Coracle, and let consumers know about the annual EVC rather than unit cost. • 23. Gender Roles In Ancient Greece In our culture, men and women are expected to act in certain ways during a sexual encounter, based on their gender. During a sexual encounter, men are expected to be dominant and active, while women are expected to be submissive and passive. The existence of gender roles has been a constant theme throughout humanity. In Ancient Greece, sexual gender roles that resemble modern sexual gender roles existed, but were not a 1:1 comparison with what we have today. Women in ancient Greece were considered vastly inferior to men. Sexual relationships between men and women only existed to bear children. Instead, older men had similar gender roles to men today, while young, prepubescent boys filled the role filled by women today. In this relationship, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Censorship of pornography, an act that would limit freedom of speech, would actually lead to a greater net freedom of speech, as it would greatly boost women in society, helping to close the gap between men and women. MacKinnon s claims are not without fault. Much of MacKinnon s literature on the topic of equality in regards to pornography was written in 1980, a time before internet pornography. The book which we see at the start dissolves from one shot to another; in this case it dissolves from the book to Pip running to the churchyard. The narrative (voice over) gives a wide perspective. When Pip is running to the churchyard there is a long shot used, this long shot makes Pip look small and vulnerable. The first things we see in the long shot are the gibbets where the convicts are hanged; this tells us that Pip is in a dangerous and isolated place. Then the camera shot is in the graveyard, where the creepy sound effects such as the trees creaking and the wind whistling come into play. The scenery is very spine chilling in the graveyard. The wind gets louder as Pip gets more tense and the tree creeks just before the convict arrives so the entrance is made more dramatic. We see a tree from Pips eyes this makes him look very small and vulnerable. We also hear an owl hoot again just before the convict arrives, this hoot acts like a warning to Pip that he is in danger. It is an effective technique used by David Lean uses with the owl hooting just before the convict arrives because an owl represents danger in many stories. At a time first attempting permanent village settlements, building a monumental tower was not done on a whim. The tower represents the first monumental building structure in the Levant, but what was it built for? This question has been on the minds of archaeologists for years. The three main theories behind the tower are for defensive purposes, flood prevention, and in clock tower function. Neolithic society had just begun forming agricultural communities, but there were still factions of pastoral nomads wandering the hills. The first theory behind the construction of the Jericho Tower was for defensive purposes. The wall, which in one place is supported by the Tower, and the size and shape of the Tower itself point to being a set of defensive structures for the settlement. However, since the Tower is on the inside of the wall, the ability to shoot invaders is greatly prohibited. If this was a tower for defense, it would likely be put on the outside of the wall in order to have better accuracy with oncoming invaders. Another reason the Tower probably was not a defensive structure is the lack of hostile attacks in the region. Nationalism was a result of a myriad of contributing factors which had a plethora of significant impacts on Germany during the years 1815 and 1871. Nationalism is an ideology based on the sense of loyalty and devotion one has to their nation and the beliefs that those who share a common language, history, and culture should constitute an independent nation free of foreign domination. The first, and perhaps most significant, effect that nationalism had upon Germany was that it led to German unification in 1871. Another impact that nationalism had in Germany was that it allowed Germans to develop a sense of national identity. Many attempts to unify the separate German speaking countries were made prior to its official unification, however, they were all ultimately unsuccessful. This was due to the fact that although the people were Germanic, they had little sense of a national identity. Nationalism was a driving force behind the development of a national consciousness as it assisted people in realising that they were all German and, as a result, were all similar in many ways. These commonalities encouraged the emergence of a distinct German identity. The biggest cultural factor was undoubtedly the German language. Although there were different dialects used among the states, these variations emerged from the same source, hence, the German people had shared a common language. All the states also shared customs and a common culture, which stemmed from similar tastes in literature and music. There was an increase in German literature, from the works of Goethe and Schiller, that recognised common German characteristics and an interest in folklore also emerged at the time, as a result of the works of The Brothers Grimm, who presented these tales as German in origin and changed details that suggested different origins. What became the German national anthem was a poem that read Deutschland über alles / Über alles in der Welt , which translates to Germany above all else / Above all else in the world . In this case, I found the idea of loneliness interesting because it made me think about loneliness and how it can have a negative effect on people. Humans need friendship to stay connected and part of society and I found this interesting because I feel that I am surrounded by good spirited spirited people who do have friends and this really contrasts with the situations in the novel. The idea of loneliness and isolation is shown though the use of contrast George and Lennie have a friendship which allows them to have support and someone to talk to that gives a damn about us. For example instead of just writing what the character is thinking something, which leaves room for the reader s imagination to wonder what is going on with the character, tell exactly what expressions need to be on the characters face and have a dialogue that contributes to that also. There are several times throughout the screen play that this happens. Other than the few times that this mistake was made I feel as if the screen play was well written and Daurio made vigilant efforts to make sure that these mistakes were not made often. There is plenty of white space throughout the screen play which is one thing that helped tremendously in the contribution to Despicable Me being such a relaxed read.
