The World s Population Uses Technology For Their Everyday...
Over half of the world s population uses technology for their everyday routine. In American Greed,
the hacker Albert Gonzalez takes technology to a complete other level. Albert would hack with his
computer into different retailer systems, and he would steal credit card numbers to sell them on the
black market making a heavy amount of cash to keep. Albert Gonzalez was a nobody in the real
universe, but on the internet he was a true evil genius that made a killing with other people s hard
earned money with just a click of a button. Albert Gonzalez mainly grew up in south Florida. He
became interested in computers when he welcomed his first one at the age of twelve. Albert was
obsessed with his computer, and his grades started dropping in school. He merely went to a
community college for half a semester then dropped out. Albert moved to New York and got a job
with a company called dot com. The I.T. Tech company called Siemens had Albert working for them
as well, but the company moved to Pennsylvania and he didn t go with them. Albert was jobless and
set about taking drugs. A great reason everyone trusted Albert is he worked with the secret service to
help catch hackers on the black market. The only part was that Albert was working both sides. When
he worked for the service he was taught material he never knew about. The material would help him
turn a better hacker to still earn money off the black market for himself. Once a hacker, always a

The Evolution of TCPIP and The Internet Essay
The Evolution of TCPIP and The Internet The Evolution of TCP/IP (and the Internet)
While the TCP/IP protocols and the Internet are different, their evolution are most definitely parallel.
This section will discuss some of the history.
Prior to the 1960s, what little computer communication existed comprised simple text and binary data,
carried by the most common telecommunications network technology of the day; namely, circuit
switching, the technology of the telephone networks for nearly a hundred years. Because most data
traffic transmissions occur during a very short period of time, circuit switching results in highly
inefficient use of network resources. In 1962, Paul Baran, of the Rand Corporation, described a robust,

The original ARPANET gave life to a number of protocols that were new to packet switching. One of
the most lasting results of the ARPANET was the development of a user network protocol that has
become the standard interface between users and packet switched networks; namely, ITU T (formerly
CCITT) Recommendation X.25. This standard interface encouraged BBN to start Telenet, a
commercial packet switched data service, in 1974; after much renaming, Telenet is now a part of
Sprint s X.25 service.
The initial host to host communications protocol introduced in the ARPANET was called the Network
Control Protocol (NCP). Over time, however, NCP proved to be incapable of keeping up with the
growing network traffic load. In 1974, a new, more robust suite of communications protocols was
proposed and implemented throughout the ARPANET, based upon the Transmission Control Protocol
(TCP) and Internet Protocol (IP). TCP and IP were originally envisioned functionally as a single
protocol, thus the protocol suite, which actually refers to a large collection of protocols and
applications, is usually referred to simply as TCP/IP. The original versions of both TCP and IP that are
in common use today were written in September 1981, although both have had several modifications
applied to them (in addition, the IP version 6, or IPv6, specification was released in December 1995).
In 1983, the DoD mandated that all of their computer systems would use the TCP/IP protocol suite for

Myoblast Lab Report
One of the major things that we studied in the lab was using myoblast, which is also a muscle
precursor who can differentiate with the proper signal which helps with differentiated cells. Myosin
light chain was a major role when they came with muscle contraction within the culture cells that were
placed in the differentiation media. My partner and I did this experiment by following the protocol
which helped us properly assess the myosin light chain. Some of the procedures included harvesting
and culturing the cells as well as extracting the cells and using SDS page and for analysis, we used
Western blot. Based on what we observed during this experiment, we noticed that the myosin light
chain could be found in both the growth media and differentiation. In the other samples, there was no
myosin light chain. This shows that myosin light chain can detect the differentiated cells. We noticed
that the myosin light chain was around 25 kDa molecular weight marker.

the muscle cells. These cells are signal through the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay on Technology in the film Tron
Technology in the film Tron
Introduction
The purpose of my project is to discover how technology is represented within the film Tron. To
answer this research question, I viewed and analyzed the movie and incorporated information from the
text and various websites. While studying this film, I took into consideration factors such as images
and language used, how technology is related to society, and what symbols the creator used to convey
certain qualities of technology. In this research paper, I will begin by explaining the significance of
this project and my areas of research. I will then relay the focus of my investigation, the methods I
employed to gain my research, analyze the film, and discuss the implications of my analysis. ... Show

This description led me to believe that the outlook of technology at the time, when the Internet was
just being introduced to the public, was fear. People feared the unknown power of the new technology
of computers. Tron is a story of man battling his own creations, which represents technology as a
powerful force with destructive capabilities.
I am interested in this project because I have always liked science fiction/fantasy movies. I like to
think about the possibilities that technology holds for our future. I am also interested in how
technology influences our culture. I was in high school when this movie came out and had limited
access to computers at that time. I wasn t concerned with the impact of new computer technology
then, but remember hearing people say that machines would someday run the world. For example, I
worked for a grocery store in the 1980s and remember other employees worrying that new machines
were being developed that would replace the cashiers, and we would all be out of a job. I think this
movie would probably have a bigger impact now that computers are such a large part of our everyday
lives. Artificial intelligence is still a popular theme for science fiction movies, so people must like to
consider it a possibility. I ve read that there is a possible sequel to the movie

Symbols and Symbolism
Flowers as a Symbol in The Chrysanthemums by John Steinbeck
In romantic or sexual context, a woman is often said to be as beautiful as a flower. In John Steinbeck s
short story The Chrysanthemums , Elisa Allen never receives this recognition. Although she is a strong
woman, she is frustrated because her husband will not admire her romantically in any way. This
frustration only deepens because she is childless and feels the need to be a mother. She discovers an
outlet for her frustration in a flower garden where she cultivates beautiful chrysanthemums. Steinbeck
uses these elegant flowers as a symbol to represent the tender, inner self of all women, including Elisa.
First, the chrysanthemums symbolize Elisa s children. She ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The chrysanthemums are symbolic of her children, and she is very proud of them. When Elisa s
husband compliments her on her flowers, she is proud, and on her face there [is] a little smugness
(240). She is happy and pleased by her ability to nurture these beautiful flowers. Elisa s pride in her
ability to grow such beautiful flowers reinforces the fact that the flowers are a replacement for her
children.
In the second part of the story, the chrysanthemums come to symbolize
Elisa s femininity and sexuality. The portrait of Elisa caring for the flowers as though they are her
children is clearly a feminine image, but her masculine image is also observed in her hard swept and
hard polished home
(240). This image is carried over into her relationship with her husband.
Elisa feels that Henry doesn t recognize or appreciate her femininity, and this feeling causes her to be
antagonistic towards him. There is an undercurrent of resentment towards her husband. Henry fails to
see his short comings, but Elisa fails to point them out to him. There is a distinct lack of harmony
between them, which causes Elisa to become discontented with
Henry. On observing her prize flowers, all Henry can say is, I wish you d work out in the orchard and
raise some apples that big (240). Henry s inability to understand Elisa s needs leaves her vulnerable in
her encounter with the tinker. The meeting with the tinker

Mount Isa in Western Queensland, Australia. Today I am here today to discuss the contentious issue of
child soldiers and inform you of the implications this issue has for our modern society. Despite
popular opinion, this issue is prevalent in our post modern world and is far too widespread to ignore.
The contentious theme of child soldiers is represented as atrocious and an infringement of human

The example impairs allegations of paramilitary leaders manipulating children for their own
egotistical agendas. The abovementioned epitomizes notions of child soldiers which are utilized and
mirrored in many texts. The prose authenticates western beliefs and ideologies concerning the issue of
child soldiers. The relevance of these portrayals is crucial as the confrontational subject of child
soldiers indeed does represent forfeiture to their virtue and denigrates our humanity. This is among the
saddest sight these days seeing the image of hundreds of thousands of children kidnapped and lured
into being child soldiers. (Sir Roger Moore) Paragraph 3: When examining literary and non literary
texts, child soldiers are often branded in western texts as intolerant and an invasion of human rights.
These perceptions work to highlight and further problematize the prevailing ideologies regarding child
soldiers. The Article Stolen kids turned into terrifying killers, By Ann O Neill CNN, further
depersonalises these child soldiers by telling us that there very vulnerability makes them attractive to
the men leading militias, manipulating them to do the unspeakable without question or protest,
because their morals and value systems are not yet fully formed. This verifies western beliefs and

Answer: You don t. You police it. I go back through and read it over and over and continually ask
myself do they need to say this? And in doing so, I ve come up with some really cool scenes and
interesting ways to show things that I initially had been telling.
Fascination with Becoming a Screenwriter/Director
I made the career choice to become a screenwriter/director because it is an easy outlet. Since I was in
elementary school I was an excellent writer. I would write fairytales upon fairytales and read them to
whoever was willing to listen. When all the other children wanted to go outside and play, I would be
writing. Anywhere and everywhere, you could always catch me with a pen and paper. Growing up I
had many dreams, had many aspirations. Over time most of those aspirations faded, and it became all
but nothing a simple dream. Yet as I grow older writing has never left my side. I began doing spoken

Female Rebellion In Aurora Leigh and The Lady in the Looking Glass
Women of both the ages of Victorian and early Modernism were restricted from education at
universities or the financial independence of professionalism. In both ages, women writers often
rebelled against perceived female expectations as a result of their oppression. To lead a solitary life as
a subservient wife and mother was not satisfactory for writers like Elizabeth Barrett Browning and
Virginia Woolf. One of the most popular female poets of the Victorian era, Elizabeth Barrett
Browning, illustrated a woman s struggle to achieve artistic and economical independence in modern
society (Longman P.1858). Many Victorian critics were shocked by Barrett ... Show more content on

The Planet By Gustav Holst
Gustav Holst: The Planets, Op. 32
Performed by Royal Philharmonic Orchestra Conducted by Andrè Previn Gustav Holst (1874 1934)
was an English composer well known for his orchestral suite The Planets. Holst began his trip into the
musical world as a young pianist. His father, Adolph Holst, was a skilled pianist who wanted Gustav
to succeed at playing as he did. Gustav, however, was impaired by neuritis making it difficult to play
for long hours. As Gustav aged he began trying to compose music instead. Gustav failed to gain
scholarships to any colleges and his father, after hearing one of Gustav s small town operettas,
borrowed money to pay for his college. Gustav s influences were pieces such as Wagner s

Holst borrowed ideas from composers such as Scheonberg, Stravinsky, and Debussy. The Planets
became Holst s most well renowned composition. Nevertheless, Holst despised the popularity the
composition gained. He swore off astrology (until he read friends horoscopes in later life) and refused
to sign autographs. His later music disappointed the public. The Planets was composed from 1914
1916. It was the time of the World War I. Adrian Boult did not conduct it until 1918 in a private
concert for Henry Balfour Gardiner, who helped Holst earlier on with his composing career. It was not
until 1920 that Albert Coates performed it in its entirety to Queen s Hall. It is an orchestral piece
arranged into seven movements. Each movement dedicates itself to the planets known at the time
besides Earth. Holst considered each movement a progression of life. (Taylor) The first movement is
Mars, the Bringer of War. It begins moderately quiet with mainly percussion and strings attacking the
ostinato in a march like 5/4 meter. Brass begins to crescendo its way in before the terraced dynamics
of the upper woodwinds begin. It is a moderately fast piece. The main goal of the piece is to create a
war like sound. The beginning creates a sound that feels like troops are gathering and it continues until
both sides attack, recuperate, and attack again with full force (during the coda). The tenor tuba carries
the melody while the march like rhythm keeps reappearing. As the piece

Critical Thinking Research Paper
Without critical thinking, humans would be at the state that existed thousands of years ago, where
people believed everything they saw and experienced as magic, not as natural phenomena. Critical
thinking gives us the ability to form clear and rational judgments to separate what is true from what is
imaginary. It takes into account both our own internal experience and the external world. The critical
thinker is consistent, uses logic, connects ideas, judges the relevancy or irrelevancy of ideas,
recognizes and avoids preconceptions and mistakes, analyzes and solves potential problems, forms
sound arguments, and is able to explain and justify his or her own beliefs and conclusions to others.39

Thinkers at this stage recognize that they have basic problems in their thinking and make initial
attempts to better understand how they can take charge of and improve it. Based on this initial
understanding, beginning thinkers begin to modify some of their thinking, but have limited insight
into deeper levels of the trouble inherent in their thinking. Most importantly, they lack a systematic
plan for improving their thinking, hence their efforts are hit and miss.
Relevant Intellectual Traits: Naturally inherent in master thinkers are all the essential intellectual

intellectual integrity, intellectual perseverance, intellectual courage, intellectual empathy, intellectual

Analysis of The Unknown Citizen by W.H. Auden The Unknown Citizen , written by W.H. Auden
during 1940, is a poem where the speaker, a representative of the state or government, directs a speech
to the audience about a monument being erected for a citizen. Written in free verse, although using
many couplets, this poem is a poem that describes the life of a certain person through his records and
documents. This citizen is portrayed as a normal and average human being who is being honoured for

The Difference Between Civil Rights And Civil Rights
I noted that the U.S. civil liberties, as well as, U.S. civil rights are generally located in the first ten
amendments to the Constitution, known as the Bill of Rights, as well as, the Fourteenth Amendment.
The distinction between civil liberties and civil rights is blurred since the concepts are used
interchangeably, even though they refer to different kinds of guaranteed protections. Civil liberties are
protections against government actions. Whereas civil rights refer to positive actions governments
should take to create equal conditions. The primary objective of this essay is to distinguish between
civil rights and civil liberties. In this essay, I present a case related to the civil right to free expression

Leone Battista Alberti, born in Genoa in 1404, was a famous Italian philosopher, painter, architect,
musician, poet, and cryptographer and of the Renaissance period. His most famous work was his
Treatise De Picture which enclosed the first study of perspective. Alberti was quite skilled in Latin
verse and when he was twenty years old, he wrote a comedy entitled Philodoxius. He was also wrote
the fantasy novel Hypnerotomachia Poliphili, which is considered one of the most imaginative and
legendary novels ever written (Encyclopedia4U 1).
When it came to music, he was known to be one of the first organists of the time. He held the
appointment of canon in Florence s metropolitan church (Encyclopedia4U 2).
In architecture, Alberti was regarded as very devout to restoring the formal language of the classical
architecture. He was employed by Pope Nicholas V at Rome to restore the papal palace as well as the
Roman aqueduct of Acqua Vergine. It was

The Influence of the Media in Shaping the Public s...
The Influence of the Media in Shaping the Public s Understanding of Crime
With the rise of the mass media throughout the world, predominantly the Western world, the issue of
media influence has become a serious one. Due to media s primary obsession with crime and violence,
it definitely has a negative influence on shaping peoples understanding of crime by exaggerating it. A
branch of media which always exaggerates on some crime e.g. terrorist attacks then other crimes is TV
news this is basically an oxymoron; giving us the skin of the truth stuffed with a lie. TV news
broadcasts use dramatic, usually violent stories and images to capture and maintain an audience, under

It is clear that crime constitutes a major realm of societal concern.
Initial focus in this essay will be on how influential media is on peoples understanding of crime
through exaggeration. The subject of Cohen s and Hall et al work on moral panic will be largely
touched upon. A basic understanding Wilkins theory would be mentioned, finally a conclusion would
be drawn up.
Maguire (2002) Mass media representations of crime, deviance, and disorder have been a returning
cause of concern. Two competing anxieties can be discerned in public debate, and both are reflected in
a large research literature. On one hand the media are often seen as fundamentally subversive, on the
other as a more or less subtle form of social control.
Those who see the media as subversive see media representation or crime themselves as a significant
cause of offending. This has been a constantly recurring theme. A different concern about media
representation of crime has worried liberals and radicals. To them the media are the cause not of crime
itself but of exaggerated public alarm about law and order, generating support for repressive solutions.
Cohen (1972) states the fundamental theme of the radical

United States vs. Foreign Nations: Funding amp; Reimbursing Healthcare Services
In this document I will discuss the health care system of three foreign nations versus the United States.
Specifically, focusing on how physicians and hospitals are reimbursed and funded in the United States
as opposed to foreign nations. The three other foreign nations that will be involved in this discussion
will be: Germany, Canada, and United Kingdom. Reimbursement/funding of health care services
varies from nation to nation. Each of these countries inhabits a different point on the international

Instead of viewing healthcare as an expense, this system will cause Americans to think of healthcare
as an investment and evaluate services and costs based on the return on investment. If this system is
utilized, management will be forced to pay attention to refining the quality of care delivered to
patients along with the timeliness and manner, which will lead to better clinical, quality of life, and
economic outcomes (Watanabe et al, 2004). In order to try to implement this sort of reimbursement
system, the system would need to reward specific behaviors that providers and patient s display. It
would also need to reward behaviors it wants to encourage such as preventative medicine. This system
would reimburse providers based on the level of commitment they offer towards the health of
individuals and the community.
Germany Germany was the first country in the world to legislate health insurance as compulsory for
all. The nation has a contribution based social insurance model (Doring amp; Paul, 2010). According
to Bodenheimer and Grumbach, Germany and its pioneering law of 1883 required certain employers

Cyber Incident Response Plan For Cyber Attack
1 What are the procedures incase of an attack. We should write a well developed cyber incident
response plan that includes all the protocols to responses. Our plan should generally have these

follow up, public relations, and law enforcement. The job of the response team is to develop cyber

industry practices, checking if all the system are updated and patched. Non stop monitoring the system
activity and computers logs to see any incidents, than recorded it in a track log for later use. Third, if
there was a report of a cyber attack, the response team should start their investigation whether the

A Historiographical Discussion of the Duel Between Aaron Burr and
The duel between Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton holds a significant relevance in
American history and should be examined within the context of early American culture and politics.
The recent historiography of the incident provides us with a complex, evolving web of conflicting
interpretations. Since the day of this tragic duel, contemporaries and historians have puzzled over why
these two prominent American statesmen confronted each other on the Plains of Weehawken. What
circumstances or events could have motivated two of the most brilliant political minds in America to
endanger their lives and reputations by taking aim at each other on that dismal day? ... Show more

J. Lee and Conalee Levine Schneidman argued it was not Burr who was the instrument, but rather
Hamilton himself or rather Hamilton s distorted perception of Burr as his evil self that promulgated
the duel.3 This article entitled Suicide or Murder? The Burr Hamilton Duel, published in a 1980
edition of the Journal of Psychohistory, represents the first example of
psycho history to be discussed in this paper. The authors presented Aaron Burr as introverted and self
absorbed, a man forever compared to the saintliness of his namesake. His father was a reverend and
President of the College of New Jersey and his mother was the daughter of
Jonathan Edwards. Therefore, the Schneidmans argued, Burr had quite the reputation to uphold,

The Individualization of Elizabeth Bennet in Pride and...
The Individualization of Elizabeth Bennet in Pride and Prejudice
Midway through Pride and Prejudice, Elizabeth Bennet arrives at a moment of self awakening which,
notably, results from the influence of someone else: Fitzwilliam Darcy. For critic Susan Fraiman, this
complication amounts to no less than, as she titles her article, The Humiliation of Elizabeth Bennet.
From this moment forward, according to Fraiman, Elizabeth Bennet ceases to think for herself. She
submits to Darcy as to a second father, relinquishes her trust in her own judgments, and thereby
suffers a loss of clout. 1 This pivotal moment comes because, after Elizabeth has rejected his proposal,
Darcy justifies himself in a lengthy letter. It is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By accepting the fact that she has misjudged Darcy, Wickham, Jane, and Bingley, Elizabeth sharpens
her ability to discern character. In turn, she develops a solidly based self confidence.
Before Elizabeth s independent judgments can be formed, she must work her way painstakingly out of
her existing prejudice. It is true that Darcy essentially forces his letter into Elizabeth s consciousness.
He has no other choice. The day after Elizabeth has rejected him, he waits along the path where she
takes her morning walks, waylays her when she tries to avoid him, and even then must thrust his letter
at her. Elizabeth s impetus to free herself from her initial prejudice against Darcy is, thus, involuntary.
Because Elizabeth naturally seeks truth, she instinctively (129) takes the letter from the hands of this
man who has so offended her that she cannot believe any apology to be in his power (134). Unable to
shut out all reason completely, Elizabeth begins to move beyond her hatred. With the strongest
curiosity, (129) she focuses on the unalterable truth of Darcy s letter. Attention to Darcy s viewpoint is
essential for the reader as well as for Elizabeth. Throughout the text, the reader has viewed Darcy s
character mainly through the filter of Elizabeth s prejudice. Even Darcy s proposal, which should have
indicated the beginning of Darcy s redemption, is distorted into Elizabeth s version: Austen does

The Nature Of Technology In Fahrenheit 451 By Ray Bradbury
I rate Fahrenheit 451 a one star , because I found the writer s style uninteresting. The author, Ray
Bradbury, failed to pull me in, and the novel didn t open my eyes to the viewpoints portrayed in the
novel. Although Fahrenheit 451 carries themes of rebirth of society, government censorship, and the
nature of humanity, these themes were overwhelmed by one theme that bled into every action,
dialogue piece, and narrative section: technology corrupts. This theme could have made for a
wonderful book, as there are intriguing and thoughtful pieces on the nature of technology, like the TV
series Black Mirror. Black Mirror offers both positives and negatives to each piece of technology it
covers in each episode it poses questions like how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Knowing this, many of the characters make more sense: Mildred and her friends can t even
comprehend the thought of reading, and every character who does read has amazing wisdom, no
matter their age. Which brings me to the second point of why I dislike the book: it preaches at every
available moment. Whether it s the teenage girl giving a monologue or the scared old man, all the
characters sound the same when they re preaching Bradbury s anti technology agenda. Subsequently,
they don t exist as round characters, they only exist to preach Bradbury s views, which ranges from
the dislikes of the arts or listening to radio through earbuds. He presumes that someone who watches
TV or listens to radio cannot enjoy the world around them, however, in my view, these medias have
only broadened our view of the world. Many of us will not be able to go to Africa, but through TV
documentaries, we can. The jazz of New Orleans would be out of reach for most, were it not for radio
and other electronic transmissions. Perhaps Bradbury might have had a real fear of the changes a
world view would initiate when the book was written, but now it carries the gravitas of someone
wearing a tin foil hat. I couldn t enjoy the book because I found the characters flat and uninteresting.
Many of them have no character development except for Montag, but his development doesn t come

The Key Role Of Finance
The key role of finance in any business is to manage money; whether it be raising capital through
share capital and bank loans, raising credit (short term capital), or handling the costs of the business.
Without finance, a business would not function, as quoted by (Griffin, 2015); Money is the lifeblood
of a business and finance is the nerve center .
Key activities of the finance department:
Firstly, one of the key activities of the finance department is to maintain a check on the
costs/outgoings of the business. This is important because if the business spends too much, it may
have to dip into its capital money invested into the business to start it in the first place or it may have
to take out bank loans, in order to finance the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is very important because a business needs to know exactly where and when all of its money has
been spent at any given time in order to be able to reduce the costs for the future. For example, for the
year ending 2014 Arcadia Group generated £316.8 million revenue and finished up with £143.1
million pre tax profit. (Limited, 2014) The decisions made by the accountants in the finance
department leading up to and after the publication of these figures is essential to the financial success
of the Arcadia Group (Topshop, Top man, Wallis, etc). Without constant reviews and informed
judgements and decisions (Weetman, 2006) by the accountants in finance, the Arcadia Group would
start to make a loss and possibly, eventually go bankrupt. By evaluating the figures and reaching
conclusions on them, the Arcadia Group will be better able to maximize the profits for the company.
Key tools and ideas that are critical to finance:
One of the key ideas behind the finance function is the question; Is the business making a profit? This
is because without making a profit, a business would not continue to exist. For example, in 2013 Ford
made $8.6 billion in pre tax profits, but in 2014 Ford made $6.3 billion, so there was a drop of $2.3
billion (Ford,

Summary Of The Boogeyman
Many people have or have had a fear whether it s a fear if the dark, clowns, or heights. Most fears are
in your head and are psyching you out and some even are imaginary, but are used to scare you. One
thing that people, mostly children, are, or have been afraid of is the Boogeyman. The Boogeyman
although imaginary, is based on a real story. It is linked with one of the most horrible killers, Albert
Fish, from the 1800s. A much better description of the Boogeyman and why we have fears are
explained in The Boogeyman by Stephen King and in What s the Boogeyman?, a scientific American
article. Novelist, Stephen King in his gothic short story, The Boogeyman, suggests that even though it
may be scary, you need to overcome your fear. He supports his claim by telling the story of a man,
Lester Billing, who was accused of his three children s death, and was afraid of the Boogeyman. In the
story just before each of his children had died, they shouted, The Boogeyman, and everytime Lester
went to see his child, the closet would be slightly cracked open. Lester knew that something from the
closet was the cause of his children s deaths, but never did anything about it. Also, after the incidents,
he would keep closets and doors shut because he was scared of the Boogeyman returning. Finally,
after going to a therapist, Lester comes face to face with the Boogeyman, who was disguised as
Dr.Harper, the therapist. King s purpose is to inform the reader that if you don t overcome a fear,

How Does Shakespeare Use Similes In Romeo And Juliet
Often times, those who are short tempered can get themselves into a heap of trouble with their actions.
This is just the case for Mercutio in William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet. Shakespeare s use of
similes, hyperboles, and foreshadowing to prove to the reader that Mercutio is short tempered and will
fight almost anyone for any reason.
The use of similes in act 3 scene 1 of Romeo and Juliet shows that the character Mercutio has a short
temper. In this scene Mercutio and Benvolio are out roaming the streets of Verona carrying out a
conversation; Mercutio then proceeds to discuss fighting and when he would fight somebody.
Mercutio tells his dear friend Benvolio thou art as hot a jack in thy mood this means that Mercutio is
calling himself hot headed and ready to fight. The use of this simile in the story compares Mercutio to
a hot jack or in other words calling himself hot headed. Another simile used that helps prove this point
is thy head is as full of quarrels as an egg is full of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In act 3 scene 1 Mercutio says thou wilt quarrel with a man that hath a hair more or hast less in his
beard than thou hast (3.1.18 19). The hyperbole means that Mercutio would fight with another man for
having more or less hair than he has which is an exaggeration. This line that Shakespeare added
proves that Mercutio has a short temper because he would fight someone for such a little difference.
Another hyperbole used that proves Mercutio s anger is thou hast quarreled with a man for coughing
in the street because he hath wakened thy dog (3.1.25 27). By saying this Mercutio means that he
would fight someone if he coughed and woke up his dog; a normal, sane man would not fight because
of something like this yet Mercutio says he would start a fight because of this. Through the use of
hyperboles Shakespeare has shown that Mercutio is short

Teenage Insubordination In Romeo And Juliet
Teenage Rebellion There is a lot of teenage insubordination in the film Freaky Friday and Romeo and

is similar to the book Romeo and Juliet because Juliet disobeys her mom. Another reason is that their
mom s are controlling them. The last reason is that their mom s want them to be perfect. Also, The
Emoji Movie has a lot of similarities with the two movies. The main character Gene doesn t to be the
emoji that his parents are, so he tries to rebell and goes makes his own emoji. Teenage insubordination
is in both of the films. Anna and Juliet both disobey their mom by dating someone they love, but their

  • 2. The World s Population Uses Technology For Their Everyday... Over half of the world s population uses technology for their everyday routine. In American Greed, the hacker Albert Gonzalez takes technology to a complete other level. Albert would hack with his computer into different retailer systems, and he would steal credit card numbers to sell them on the black market making a heavy amount of cash to keep. Albert Gonzalez was a nobody in the real universe, but on the internet he was a true evil genius that made a killing with other people s hard earned money with just a click of a button. Albert Gonzalez mainly grew up in south Florida. He became interested in computers when he welcomed his first one at the age of twelve. Albert was obsessed with his computer, and his grades started dropping in school. He merely went to a community college for half a semester then dropped out. Albert moved to New York and got a job with a company called dot com. The I.T. Tech company called Siemens had Albert working for them as well, but the company moved to Pennsylvania and he didn t go with them. Albert was jobless and set about taking drugs. A great reason everyone trusted Albert is he worked with the secret service to help catch hackers on the black market. The only part was that Albert was working both sides. When he worked for the service he was taught material he never knew about. The material would help him turn a better hacker to still earn money off the black market for himself. • 3. The Evolution of TCPIP and The Internet Essay The Evolution of TCPIP and The Internet The Evolution of TCP/IP (and the Internet) While the TCP/IP protocols and the Internet are different, their evolution are most definitely parallel. This section will discuss some of the history. Prior to the 1960s, what little computer communication existed comprised simple text and binary data, carried by the most common telecommunications network technology of the day; namely, circuit switching, the technology of the telephone networks for nearly a hundred years. Because most data traffic transmissions occur during a very short period of time, circuit switching results in highly inefficient use of network resources. In 1962, Paul Baran, of the Rand Corporation, described a robust, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The original ARPANET gave life to a number of protocols that were new to packet switching. One of the most lasting results of the ARPANET was the development of a user network protocol that has become the standard interface between users and packet switched networks; namely, ITU T (formerly CCITT) Recommendation X.25. This standard interface encouraged BBN to start Telenet, a commercial packet switched data service, in 1974; after much renaming, Telenet is now a part of Sprint s X.25 service. The initial host to host communications protocol introduced in the ARPANET was called the Network Control Protocol (NCP). Over time, however, NCP proved to be incapable of keeping up with the growing network traffic load. In 1974, a new, more robust suite of communications protocols was proposed and implemented throughout the ARPANET, based upon the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and Internet Protocol (IP). TCP and IP were originally envisioned functionally as a single protocol, thus the protocol suite, which actually refers to a large collection of protocols and applications, is usually referred to simply as TCP/IP. The original versions of both TCP and IP that are in common use today were written in September 1981, although both have had several modifications applied to them (in addition, the IP version 6, or IPv6, specification was released in December 1995). In 1983, the DoD mandated that all of their computer systems would use the TCP/IP protocol suite for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Myoblast Lab Report One of the major things that we studied in the lab was using myoblast, which is also a muscle precursor who can differentiate with the proper signal which helps with differentiated cells. Myosin light chain was a major role when they came with muscle contraction within the culture cells that were placed in the differentiation media. My partner and I did this experiment by following the protocol which helped us properly assess the myosin light chain. Some of the procedures included harvesting and culturing the cells as well as extracting the cells and using SDS page and for analysis, we used Western blot. Based on what we observed during this experiment, we noticed that the myosin light chain could be found in both the growth media and differentiation. In the other samples, there was no myosin light chain. This shows that myosin light chain can detect the differentiated cells. We noticed that the myosin light chain was around 25 kDa molecular weight marker. Introduction We used the differentiated cells C2C12 myoblast to help us determine the difference in the muscle cells. • 6. Essay on Technology in the film Tron Technology in the film Tron Introduction The purpose of my project is to discover how technology is represented within the film Tron. To answer this research question, I viewed and analyzed the movie and incorporated information from the text and various websites. While studying this film, I took into consideration factors such as images and language used, how technology is related to society, and what symbols the creator used to convey certain qualities of technology. In this research paper, I will begin by explaining the significance of this project and my areas of research. I will then relay the focus of my investigation, the methods I employed to gain my research, analyze the film, and discuss the implications of my analysis. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This description led me to believe that the outlook of technology at the time, when the Internet was just being introduced to the public, was fear. People feared the unknown power of the new technology of computers. Tron is a story of man battling his own creations, which represents technology as a powerful force with destructive capabilities. I am interested in this project because I have always liked science fiction/fantasy movies. I like to think about the possibilities that technology holds for our future. I am also interested in how technology influences our culture. I was in high school when this movie came out and had limited access to computers at that time. I wasn t concerned with the impact of new computer technology then, but remember hearing people say that machines would someday run the world. For example, I worked for a grocery store in the 1980s and remember other employees worrying that new machines were being developed that would replace the cashiers, and we would all be out of a job. I think this movie would probably have a bigger impact now that computers are such a large part of our everyday lives. Artificial intelligence is still a popular theme for science fiction movies, so people must like to consider it a possibility. I ve read that there is a possible sequel to the movie ... • 7. Symbols and Symbolism Flowers as a Symbol in The Chrysanthemums by John Steinbeck In romantic or sexual context, a woman is often said to be as beautiful as a flower. In John Steinbeck s short story The Chrysanthemums , Elisa Allen never receives this recognition. Although she is a strong woman, she is frustrated because her husband will not admire her romantically in any way. This frustration only deepens because she is childless and feels the need to be a mother. She discovers an outlet for her frustration in a flower garden where she cultivates beautiful chrysanthemums. Steinbeck uses these elegant flowers as a symbol to represent the tender, inner self of all women, including Elisa. First, the chrysanthemums symbolize Elisa s children. She ... When Elisa s husband compliments her on her flowers, she is proud, and on her face there [is] a little smugness (240). She is happy and pleased by her ability to nurture these beautiful flowers. Elisa s pride in her ability to grow such beautiful flowers reinforces the fact that the flowers are a replacement for her children. In the second part of the story, the chrysanthemums come to symbolize Elisa s femininity and sexuality. The portrait of Elisa caring for the flowers as though they are her children is clearly a feminine image, but her masculine image is also observed in her hard swept and hard polished home (240). This image is carried over into her relationship with her husband. Elisa feels that Henry doesn t recognize or appreciate her femininity, and this feeling causes her to be antagonistic towards him. There is an undercurrent of resentment towards her husband. Henry fails to see his short comings, but Elisa fails to point them out to him. There is a distinct lack of harmony between them, which causes Elisa to become discontented with Henry. On observing her prize flowers, all Henry can say is, I wish you d work out in the orchard and raise some apples that big (240). I m Laban Pulea and I represent youth from the rural mining community of Mount Isa in Western Queensland, Australia. Today I am here today to discuss the contentious issue of child soldiers and inform you of the implications this issue has for our modern society. Despite popular opinion, this issue is prevalent in our post modern world and is far too widespread to ignore. The contentious theme of child soldiers is represented as atrocious and an infringement of human rights in a diverse range of literary and non literary texts such as the movie Blood Diamond, the poem Child Soldier Diary and the article Stolen kids ... The abovementioned epitomizes notions of child soldiers which are utilized and mirrored in many texts. The prose authenticates western beliefs and ideologies concerning the issue of child soldiers. The relevance of these portrayals is crucial as the confrontational subject of child soldiers indeed does represent forfeiture to their virtue and denigrates our humanity. This is among the saddest sight these days seeing the image of hundreds of thousands of children kidnapped and lured into being child soldiers. (Sir Roger Moore) Paragraph 3: When examining literary and non literary texts, child soldiers are often branded in western texts as intolerant and an invasion of human rights. These perceptions work to highlight and further problematize the prevailing ideologies regarding child soldiers. The Article Stolen kids turned into terrifying killers, By Ann O Neill CNN, further depersonalises these child soldiers by telling us that there very vulnerability makes them attractive to the men leading militias, manipulating them to do the unspeakable without question or protest, because their morals and value systems are not yet fully formed. Fascination with Becoming a Screenwriter/Director I made the career choice to become a screenwriter/director because it is an easy outlet. Since I was in elementary school I was an excellent writer. I would write fairytales upon fairytales and read them to whoever was willing to listen. When all the other children wanted to go outside and play, I would be writing. Over time most of those aspirations faded, and it became all but nothing a simple dream. Yet as I grow older writing has never left my side. Female Rebellion In Aurora Leigh and The Lady in the Looking Glass Women of both the ages of Victorian and early Modernism were restricted from education at universities or the financial independence of professionalism. In both ages, women writers often rebelled against perceived female expectations as a result of their oppression. To lead a solitary life as a subservient wife and mother was not satisfactory for writers like Elizabeth Barrett Browning and Virginia Woolf. One of the only rights of thinking given to women, was their right to comprehend their husbands (P. 1869, L. 431). The limited rights were not satisfactory for Aurora, who finds a savior to oppression of intellect through poetry. The Planet By Gustav Holst Gustav Holst: The Planets, Op. 32 Performed by Royal Philharmonic Orchestra Conducted by Andrè Previn Gustav Holst (1874 1934) was an English composer well known for his orchestral suite The Planets. Holst began his trip into the musical world as a young pianist. His father, Adolph Holst, was a skilled pianist who wanted Gustav to succeed at playing as he did. Gustav, however, was impaired by neuritis making it difficult to play for long hours. As Gustav aged he began trying to compose music instead. Holst borrowed ideas from composers such as Scheonberg, Stravinsky, and Debussy. The Planets became Holst s most well renowned composition. Nevertheless, Holst despised the popularity the composition gained. He swore off astrology (until he read friends horoscopes in later life) and refused to sign autographs. His later music disappointed the public. The Planets was composed from 1914 1916. It was the time of the World War I. Adrian Boult did not conduct it until 1918 in a private concert for Henry Balfour Gardiner, who helped Holst earlier on with his composing career. It was not until 1920 that Albert Coates performed it in its entirety to Queen s Hall. It is an orchestral piece arranged into seven movements. Each movement dedicates itself to the planets known at the time besides Earth. Holst considered each movement a progression of life. (Taylor) The first movement is Mars, the Bringer of War. It begins moderately quiet with mainly percussion and strings attacking the ostinato in a march like 5/4 meter. Brass begins to crescendo its way in before the terraced dynamics of the upper woodwinds begin. It is a moderately fast piece. The main goal of the piece is to create a war like sound. • 32. How Does Shakespeare Use Similes In Romeo And Juliet Often times, those who are short tempered can get themselves into a heap of trouble with their actions. This is just the case for Mercutio in William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet. Shakespeare s use of similes, hyperboles, and foreshadowing to prove to the reader that Mercutio is short tempered and will fight almost anyone for any reason. The use of similes in act 3 scene 1 of Romeo and Juliet shows that the character Mercutio has a short temper. In this scene Mercutio and Benvolio are out roaming the streets of Verona carrying out a conversation; Mercutio then proceeds to discuss fighting and when he would fight somebody. Mercutio tells his dear friend Benvolio thou art as hot a jack in thy mood this means that Mercutio is calling himself hot headed and ready to fight. The use of this simile in the story compares Mercutio to a hot jack or in other words calling himself hot headed. Another simile used that helps prove this point is thy head is as full of quarrels as an egg is full of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In act 3 scene 1 Mercutio says thou wilt quarrel with a man that hath a hair more or hast less in his beard than thou hast (3.1.18 19). The hyperbole means that Mercutio would fight with another man for having more or less hair than he has which is an exaggeration. This line that Shakespeare added proves that Mercutio has a short temper because he would fight someone for such a little difference. Another hyperbole used that proves Mercutio s anger is thou hast quarreled with a man for coughing in the street because he hath wakened thy dog (3.1.25 27). By saying this Mercutio means that he would fight someone if he coughed and woke up his dog; a normal, sane man would not fight because of something like this yet Mercutio says he would start a fight because of this. Through the use of hyperboles Shakespeare has shown that Mercutio is short ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Teenage Insubordination In Romeo And Juliet Teenage Rebellion There is a lot of teenage insubordination in the film Freaky Friday and Romeo and Juliet . I think that Freaky Friday has teenage insubordination because Anna disobeys her mom. That is similar to the book Romeo and Juliet because Juliet disobeys her mom. Another reason is that their mom s are controlling them. The last reason is that their mom s want them to be perfect. Also, The Emoji Movie has a lot of similarities with the two movies. The main character Gene doesn t to be the emoji that his parents are, so he tries to rebell and goes makes his own emoji. Teenage insubordination is in both of the films. Anna and Juliet both disobey their mom by dating someone they love, but their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
