Using Technology to Increase Academic Success
This essay will talk about how in today s modern world we can use technology to increase the
academic success of a student. Along with that, we will cover the different types of devices used
today, the World Wide Web and its search engines, how technology is used in school and what are its
downfalls, and how technology benefits distant learners and lastly how to use technology effectively.

A Constructivist approach according to Wenglisnky, H.,(2005) will use technology to help a student
better learn and understand a given topic, using visual aids, programs etc. While a didactic will do the
complete opposite. It will combine the larger picture of a scenario, going into advanced and more
complicated problems that the student can understand.
Aside from the teaching methods used in a technology based education system. There is always
constructive ways to use technology as well as unconstructive ways. In a classroom environment a
teacher may ask students to do research on a given topic, while setting standards of plagiarism and
showing students how to complete research at an early age. It can also be beneficial for students to
familiarize themselves with commonly used programs and software used in today s work industry,
such as Microsoft word and power point. It can give the student the ease and facility to find the
resources needed at his fingertips.
At the same time it can be very un constructive for a student if he or she uses technology in a
classroom for entertainment and media. While most schools and universities do a very good job in
filtering their systems so that students do not access these websites, student always find a way to get to
them. It is also possible that the use of a computer or technology can limit a student in certain
instances. For instance, a student may be given an assignment to

My Experience with Soccer and Asthma
As a young boy growing up, I like many sports, but soccer was my all time favorite. I loved soccer
because I was also good at playing the sport as well as analyzing games. I never had a problem staying
glued to my couch watching a soccer game all day. I always relished the prospect of waking up to a
soccer game on a Saturday morning. It was such a delight. Being an avid soccer lover, it is no surprise
that I had dreams of playing professionally. I wanted to be like Zinedine Zidane because he was my
favorite soccer player at the time. At age 9, my mom registered me in a local soccer academy where
young kids were trained and nurtured in the sport. I was really excited because I believed it was the
start of an illustrious soccer career. Playing as a center forward, I enjoyed each and every minute on
the pitch and also the atmosphere. My family would always come to watch me play and cheer for me.
That buoyed me and gave me a lot of confidence as I kept thinking that one day, they would have to
sit on the couch in front of the television watching me playing professional soccer. At age 12, I was
privileged to meet one of the Nigerian national soccer team player Kanu Nwankwo. He was known
worldwide and most of his teammates saw him as a role model. On the day he visited our academy, he
talked to us on many issues mostly on being focused and working towards making our dreams become
reality. He also talked about a heart foundation program he was running and how it is helping

Number 10 Research Paper
Old wives tales are a fun way for parents to teach their kids important lessons. However, some wives
tales are so realistic that many people start believing they are scientifically true. Well, we re coming to
the rescue! Below are 10 of the most popular wives tales debunked by science. Number Ten: Cracking
Your Knuckles Will Lead to Arthritis. Despite what your grandparents may have told you, no,
cracking your knuckles will not lead to arthritis. One study followed people who repeatedly cracked
their knuckles for weeks without any repercussions. Number Nine: Swallowed Gum Stays in Your
Stomach for Years. It s almost unbelievable that people still believe this old wives tale. In an effort to
stop children from swallowing gum, many worried ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, a penny will experience so much air resistance when dropped that it would simply feel like
a soft flick on your forehead. Number Seven: Blood is Blue Before It s Oxygenated. Oxygenated and
deoxygenated blood have different colorations, but deoxygenated blood is not blue like many people
think. The blood is actually a deep crimson color, and the idea that it s blue probably originated from
the appearance of blue veins, which are so colored because of your skin, not your blood. Number Six:
Sugar Makes You Hyper. One of the most insidious old wives tales is that sugar will make kids hyper.
In reality, sugar will actually make children sleepy. The hyperactivity parents observe after children
eat candy is likely a result of the happiness kids experience from getting candy. Number Five: Severe
Pruning Is a Bad Thing. Has your mom ever told you not to stay in the tub too long or you ll turn into
a prune? Well, that might not be as bad as she made it seem. The skin on your body wrinkles like a
prune when it s submerged for long periods of time to optimize your gripping ability. Number Four:

Coronary Disease Paper
Coronary disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. According to Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention (CDC) 796,494 men and women between the age of ( ) 1yr to 85 and older
expired due to major cardiovascular disease (Deaths: Final Data for 2013, table 10, 2015) . This
disease has a natural cradle to grave course of action that may consist of susceptibility,
presymptomatic disease, clinical disease, recovery disable and/or death (Mills, 2015). Many factors
can result in a person to be susceptible to a particular disease. The stage of susceptibility precedes the
disease and involves the likelihood a host has of developing ill effects from an external agent (Merrill,
2013, p. 51). Certain conditions raise the risk ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The stage of clinical disease begins when signs and symptoms are manifest (Merrill, 2013, p. 51).
Symptoms may occur differently between men and women. For example, angina and heart attack
symptoms have similar warning signs however Women are somewhat more likely than men to have
other symptoms like shortness of breath, nausea, and back or jaw pain. Some women describe their
symptoms as mild. Others feel tired when they have angina (Cardiosmart.org, 2012). Women that
experience heart attacks are somewhat more likely than men to have other symptoms like shortness of
breath, nausea, and back or jaw pain (Cardiosmart.org, 2012). Responding appropriately to the clinical
onset of coronary disease will determine if the patient can recover or suffer disability or death. Having
clinical symptoms can be a frightening experience. Patients that suffer clinical symptoms have
different end results. Early detection and effective treatment can prevent the long term effects of
coronary disease. Most patients make a full recovery with diet and exercise. Some become disabled
after clinical symptoms occur, while others experience death. Immediate attention when a person is
experiencing symptoms generally results in a better overall

Slavery In Cuba Research Paper
In history, slavery had become a part of all cultures: including Brazil, Cuba, and the United States.
Brazil and Cuba were among the first colonizations to practice the act of enslaving others to do one s
bidding. Slavery was a fundamental foundation upon which these three nation s economy was built on.
After tension, rebellions, and at times war, laws were passed to abolish the act of enslaving others.
Brazil
In the early sixteenth century, the Portuguese began to colonize in Brazil as part of an overseas
expansion plan that began along the western coast of Africa. Brazilian settlements had begun to
manage the cultivation, manufacture, and marketing of sugarcane and sugar. Native American slaves
was initially the labor foundation of which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
African slaves were imported from the British Caribbean colonies to Chesapeake to work on tobacco
farms. After the 13 colonies declared independence from Britain, they drafted their constitution in
1787. The word slavery was not written. The act of enslaving someone was not legally sanctioned and
it violated the purpose of human liberty that the constitution stood for. The right to vote was also not
permitted for indigenous people, slaves, and women. After the territorial expansion from the Atlantic
to the Pacific Ocean, the U.S. became the leading force of industrial demand for raw materials such as
cotton. Unlike the North, southern agriculture had built its economy on the foundation of enslaved
labor. Slave trade to the U.S. had ended in 1808, and the northern states had abolished slavery in the
1780s, however the southern states had continued to rely on slave labor. When the Civil War broke
out, it was not on the issue of abolishing slavery as a nation, but whether or not the new states that join
should be slave free or not. Forbidding slavery in the western states would have halted any economic
growth for the southern states who depended on slavery to thrive. It would also shift the balance in
political power, arguing that slave ownership was a right protected by the constitution. When Abraham
Lincoln became president in 1861, the Confederate States of America separated themselves

The Portrayal Of Women Of Contemporary Rap Videos
The aim of this study is examine the portrayal of women in contemporary rap videos, and to see if it
could be potentially harmful. Unfortunately within the music industry like many industries sex sells,
and the media has brought to light this fixation. Hip hop has persuaded a large portion of society that
this is how women should be treated, but new times call for new measures and it is time that people
realise this and give women the respect and dignity that many believe they surly deserve. In the rap
world, women are a status of success, and they are treated almost as trophies: a way for rappers to
show that they have made it to the top of their game. It is not that rappers feel that women are inferior,
but they feel treating women like a collector s item is how they should go about flaunting their new
found success. Rappers always try to have the best looking girls in their videos, which make other
people, predominantly young men, think how they are living the high life, being able to get the best
looking girls, girls they could only dream of getting. The intent of this façade is to simply make
money, but rappers do not realise how much of an impact their music is having on the younger
generations. When the younger generation watch television and see artists throw money in the air,
with expensive cars and women, that image is stored in their minds as the definition of success. They
begin to believe the idea that in order to accomplish success, you must have beautiful

Crown Of Thorns Starfish Essay
The Crown of Thorns Starfish robot (COTSbot) developed by the Queensland University of
Technology will kill the crown of thorns starfish (COTS) which is responsible for destroying about
50% of Australia s Great Barrier Reef, Discovery News reports. COTSbot, which operates
autonomously, recently performed well on trial test and its creators plan to deploy it in December.
Until then, the robot needs to be tested on the reef. HOW IT DETECTS THE PREY In an interview
with the BBC, COTSbot researcher Matthew Dunbabin explained how the robot operates, and how it
detects starfish. The core of the detection is a state of the art computer vision and machine learning
system, Dunbabin said. This system has been trained to recognise COTS [crown of thorns ... Show

One of the chief tasks of programming the robot was giving it the ability to identify COTS as separate
from other sea life and strike it accordingly. During a single session at sea, the COTSbot can give out
200 of the poisonous injections. Its starfish killing capability has led the AAU to call it a mechanical
hitman . In an interview with the Australian news agency, Dunbabin said It will never out compete a
human diver in terms of sheer numbers of injections but it will be more persistent . WHY THE
ROBOT WAS MADE Overpopulation by any species can have negative effects on any ecosystem, and
an explosion in the starfish population led to the species eating away at the Great Barrier Reef. And as
the COTSbot s university website says, the movement of nutrients to sea from land in the area since
the 1960s has accelerated outbreaks of COTS to the detriment of the reef. According to Popular
Science, Dunbabin began work on COTSbot ten years ago. Back then, however, the best usable poison
known to them required 20 injections to kill a single starfish. Since then, they ve discovered that using
bile (which the robot currently uses) injections is a much more efficient method of killing them.

The mountain walls give off coppery tones as you ride El Chepe. How is it that just now you decided
to travel to Mexico? The whole trip has been an eye opening experience. A vacation to Mexico was
the perfect way to rewind your overwhelming life. Traveling actually started thousands of years ago
and the Romans are credited for structuring modern tourism. However, nowadays traveling is usually
down as a way to relax and not mostly for religious purposes. Traveling to Mexico is a fun activity
that anyone can do. There are so many upsides to visiting a foreign country. Their stress levels
decrease, happiness increases, and they become more creative. One gets to experience a different
culture, scenery, and people when visiting this remarkable country. Traveling, in general, makes
people healthier. Occasional travelers report lower stress levels and lower risks of heart attacks. These
benefits even stay awhile after the trip has ended. According to Larry Alton, traveling has been
scientifically proven to lower stress levels. (NBC News) This is because traveling is like taking a
break from one s hectic life. One gets to think about themselves and relax. People feel less anxious
and tend to forget about problems that usually bother them. In a way, they disconnect from their busy
lives.

College Is The Time Of Your Life
Haakon Lovestad Dr. Van Bergen Rylander 24 Nov. 2104 Every once in a while, one comes across the
saying college is the time of your life , true enough, every person who has had the opportunity to
attend college, regularly reminisces about the time they had. In all fairness, the time in college is
indeed memorable. The reason as to why even Hollywood regularly releases movies with a theme and
setting of college. What these movies inevitably end up doing is glamorizing the all things to do with
college other than actually studying. In fact, in most instances, these movies glamorize parties, casual
sex, drinking binges and use of drugs. To the high school teenager with raving hormones, this is a
place to look forward to, which is if it ends up motivating them to the quests of higher grades.
Nevertheless, parents and other stakeholders more so in the department of health are regularly
wondering what exactly the place of sex in college is. (Bruce and Stewart) It is worth it to analyze the
whole issue of sex with an open mind. The reason for this is that external influences cloud the
perception of most regarding the topic of sex in relation to college. Society encourages modesty in
matters relating to sex, ironically, the media is awash with sex if not explicitly, it is implicit. However,
the common denominator to all this is the ever willingness of college girls to engage in sexual activity
in a rather casual and care free manner. Therefore, it is within prudence to assume

Should Humans Consume Insects as an Alternate Source of Food? Intro Cultivating animals and crops
takes countless amount of hours and use an abundance of resources; furthermore, it produces waste
that can be harmful to the environment. The human population is increasing at an ever increasing rate
and scientists all over the world are trying to solve a global issue. It is estimated by the UN that the
population will hit 9.7 billion by 2050; undoubtedly, these inefficient and wasteful processes will not
suffice. What about insects, there are plentiful in supply and are packed with proteins and other
nutrients that the body needs; furthermore, using insects in our main diets will decrease the need for
domesticated animals which causes creates problems for everyone; in contrast to insects, which have
versatile ways for people to choose from, use less resources, and produce less waste. Lastly, if we
decrease the population of insects it will actually benefit society by limiting the amount of infestation
and their effects on crops, trees, etc. (DeFoliart, 1992) (Premalatha, 2011) (Verkerka, Trampera,
Trijpb, Martensa, 2007). This proposal will examine the nutrients, environmental impacts, ethics, and
effectiveness of an insect diet and will then be presented through a tri fold board with clear pictures,
statistics and information about this topic. The Problem and How People Are Using Similar Processes

Cooperative Federalism In Texas
Federalism has evolved throughout American history. At different points in time, the balance and
boundaries between the national and state government have changed substantially (resulting in the
dual federalism, cooperative federalism etc.). Dual federalism which can also be referred to as divided
sovereignty draws a clear distinction between federal and state governments, with the state
government exercising the powers given to them without the influence of the federal government. It
can further be supported by the Tenth Amendment which states, The powers not delegated to the
United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States,
respectively, or to the people. Cooperative Federalism is defined as the cooperative functioning of the
state, national and local governments. The American ensemble functions according to the New Dual
Cooperative Federalism.
Federalism makes most policies lean more locally. States could tailor policy to fit their specific needs.
For example, Texas has a very different social welfare system even under the supervision of the
central federal system. As the state has populations, wealth, resources, etc.,
Texas is a prime example of the state constitutions in general. Ever since the integration ... Show more

Essay about Maya Angelou
Maya Angelou is one of the most influential and talented African American writers of our modern day.
Those who read Angelou s works should not pass the thought of where her influence came from.
Maya Angelou s work has been heavily affected by the era in which she began to write. The fifties and
sixties were a tumultuous time for most African Americans in the US. The civil rights movement, led
by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), the National Urban
League, Martin Luther King, Jr., and others, was instrumental in securing legislation, notably the Civil
Rights Acts of 1964 and 1968 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

In 1959, Atlanta integrated its buses on January 21, but the governor of Georgia asked citizens to

His opposition to integration propelled him into the governorship of Georgia in 1967, and when he

African American Male Enters The Criminal Judicial System,...
As reported by the U.S. Justice Department, there has been significant increase in incarcerated African
American males, in comparison to Hispanic and White males. It is believed that social interaction,
area of residency, and social networks have major influence on the increasing crime and incarceration
rates of African American males. A larger portion of White males hold more positions within the U.S.
Judicial system than African American males who make up a larger population of prison inmates and
less involvement in legislation. This coincides with data suggesting that African American s have
lower percentages of receiving or obtaining higher education, placing them in areas of low income and
less opportunities. Social inequality in the judicial system is questioned as well as demographics and
economics will be researched in order to provide in depth analysis of these national percentages of
African Americans. Additional research is conducted to investigate circumstances once an African
American male enters the criminal judicial system, and a generational cycle of crime. There is more
knowledge and potential opportunities within the prison system versus the lack of resources these
prisoners would feel they would have upon their release. The Judicial system appears to be White
male dominated due to factors regarding higher education, as well as opportunities or resources to

I. INTRODUCTION
Biologists and life science researchers have been increasingly facing the challenge of dealing with
large amounts of biological data. For example, sequencing the human genome requires the computing
power of processing highly complex algorithms that can only be achieved in computers.
Computational biology and bioinformatics have a lot of things in common yet some parts not in
common. Computational biology concerns about developing data analytical modeling and
computational simulation to study biological systems. On the other hand, bioinformatics involves how
to extract, store, organize, analyze and visualize life sciences data.
Python is a simple, concise, compact yet powerful programming language compared to other high
level programming languages such as Java. Python has become more and more popular in the science
and technology field because of its ease of use and more importantly because it is open source and has

Plate Tectonics Video Analysis
The first video was on plate tectonics, the building blocks of earth. The focus was on the interior
workings of the earth and it described the movement of the earth and the process of redistribution. The
earth is made up of several surfaces and the plates are rigid slabs of solid rock that move around the
earth s crust and upper part of the mantel. They wrap around the globe like a net and interact at
boundaries, such as land and ocean.
There are three types of place boundaries, convergent, divergent and transform. Convergent
boundaries are regions that develop when two tectonic plates collide. The area surrounding the
collision becomes mountainous as the plates buckle. This happens through a process called
subduction. Divergent boundaries ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Different structural arrangements in the carbon atoms determine the outcome of the mineral.
Diamonds are the hardest mineral; they are formed under a covalent bond which is very strong.
Graphite on the other hand is one of the softest; it is held with a softer bond. Despite the difference in
structure, both of these minerals are made from the same substance, pure carbon.
Silicates are minerals that contain oxygen and silicon. These two elements can be found in 90% of the
earths minerals. While they do not produce the beauty of diamonds or the wealth of gold, they are
used in the making of construction material. The element in silicon is a common ingredient in many
products in the computing industry.
These two videos were a great introduction into how the earth works. The idea that there is constant
movement within and underneath the earth s crust can be taken for granted. The 1st video gave a great
illustration of how the earth moves and shifts. The second went a little deeper into what makes up the
earth. As a society it is easy to take our resources for granted, but when it comes down to it, we are an
interdependent system. The earth needs us and we need the earth s resources to survive as a

The Frist product based on network data model is Raima Database Manager (RDM). RDM is an
embedded database management system that can be used in embedded systems. It was created by
Raima Company in 1984 and it was one of the first microcomputer network model database

supports the processing and managing of database files on a given medium (RAIMA 2017), which can
also be considered as a database controller. Second, its database unions provide a consistent view of
various identically structured databases(RAIMA 2017), which providing a single appearance of the

Terry Fox Essay
In Canadian history there are many famous people. In my mind one really stands out among the rest.
His name is Terry Fox and he is one of the greatest athlete to run on the face of this planet. Terry
discovered he had cancer and then decided to run across Canada. He was a brave man who would take
what the world through at him. Running across Canada was his way to show the world that he was not
going out with out a fight.
Terry Fox was born in Winnipeg Manitoba on July 28 1958 Terry was raised in port Coquintlam,

nobody could see him he ran his first half mile in the dark. For fifteen months of training and after

Cherokee Indian Rights Of Passage Analysis
Rights of passage are a big part in your life and your relatives. There are many rites of passage and
they all differ from each other. The Medicine Bag , The Apache Girl ,and the Cherokee Indians all
have to face their right of passage. The Medicine Bag is about a boy named Martin who is given a
medicine bag as his right of passage. The Apache Girl is about a girl named Dachina who s rite of
passage leads her into womanhood. The Cherokee Indians right of passage has the boy sit through the
night alone in a forest to show that he is a man. These 3 stories have many similarities and differences
in their rites of passage. They also are written in different formats which makes your understanding of
the topic different. The Medicine Bag , The Apache Girl , and the Cherokee Indians all have very
similar rites of passage. They all have to accomplish something to become a woman or a man in their
tribe. The Apache Girl and the Cherokee Indians both have to show strength and confidence. Dacina
has to dance for 10 hours and the Cherokee Indians have to sit on a log through the night with a
blindfold on. This helps them show that they are strong enough to become a member of the tribe. The
Medicine Bag and the Cherokee Indians also have similar rights of passage because they both don t
have to face their journey alone. During Martin s right of passage his grandpa passes the bag down to
him and during Cherokee Indians right of passage their dad sits with

The Internet Is An Ocean And We Are The Fishermen

Rogerian Argument The Internet is an ocean and we are the fishermen. We immerse ourselves in a
myriad of appealing fishes, all competing for our attention. We re enticed to keep making our way
across the water to seek more, and sometimes fail to catch anything. This is exactly the marvel of the
web, but it is also a problem. Nowadays the Internet is no longer a want, rather, it is becoming
somewhat of a necessity. The rising popularity of this artificial intelligence has led to an ongoing
debate regarding its influence on people s lives. The Net is undoubtedly the most influential
technology after the arrival of the printing press. Computer scientists had always found ways to merge
together the human s brain and computers since 1936 with the hope of creating a machine that is
capable of problem solving. They aspired to produce a network plan, however, this concept of a
network initially was only used for government communication and research due to its high speed
connections. By the late 20th century, computer networks in the U.S expanded to commercial and
business sectors, which demanded online advertising services. In 1998, Larry Page and Sergey Brin,
two computer science graduates at Stanford University, launched Google, a search engine that
understands exactly what you mean and gives you back exactly what you want (qtd. in Carr). Nicholas

Japanese POW Camps Cruelty is an evil process to use against someone, and especially when that

The Role Of Water Security In The Jordan River Basin
Abstract
The scarcity, depletion and polluting of water in one of the world s driest regions, is a problem that has
perplexed the nations of the Middle East for decades. The riparian states of the Jordan River Basin
include Israel, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon. These states are in a constant struggle over securing water
rights for their respective states. The conflict over water is also overshadowed by the Arab Israeli
issues and the subsequent territorial questions. While territory is often at the forefront of the issues,
securing water has also become a contributing factor in the conflicts of the past, and will continue in
the future. Choices of conflict or cooperation will have to be made, given the diminishing amounts of
water available. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many countries are also highly dependent on water that originates outside their borders; the water
diversion provided by dams for countries that are downstream exacerbates an already serious problem.
The diversion of river systems is an area of international concern, the nature and extent of such
interdependency is already extensive: 145 countries share over 261 international river basin. As
demand increases, and as indigenous sources of water become fully utilized or exhausted, the only
alternatives are likely to be international (Dolatyar, 2006). Ironically, the very solution of one country
s scarcity, plunges another into water shortage, this is the reason why water security is one of the most
crucial foreign policy considerations of a globally connected economic and political atmosphere.
Water as a source of conflict
When one thinks of turmoil in the Middle East, oil is often the first thought, however, water has begun
to be a problematic area, both internal and international. However, the cause for water scarcity does
not only depend on conditions within its borders (Giordano, Giordano Wolf , 2004). Israel s water
source comes from the Jordan River, an elongated valley in the central Middle East, and is shared with
Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Palestine (Lowi, 1995). The Hasbani River, the Dan River, and the Banyas
River are the three tributaries of the Jordan River. Although the Jordan Basin extends into five states,

H. G. Wells Done H. G. Wells is a paradox of a man. For example, his fascination with utopias,
advocated free love, and had an optimistic vision for humanity. In practice, he created the modern

Wellsian fashion, Plato s Republic, Rudyard Kipling s The Jungle Book, and the scientific advances of
the nineteenth century are evident as Wells s influences when he wrote The Island of Dr. Moreau.

Though he wrote to help support himself and his family, his interest in science remained. The two
most sensational (and influential) were vivisection and eugenics. In short, the practice of vivisection
was examining the workings of the organs of a living organism. Many people opposed the practice on
the grounds that it harmed the animals. However most scientists took great care of those animals.
Continuing on, eugenics is selective breeding to improve the overall quality of the human species.

Essay On Teacher Community Assistant
Evaluating the Teacher Community Assistant Initiative in Ghana
Over the last decade, millions more children in developing countries have gained access to primary
school education. Despite this achievement, a large number of children enrolled in their first years of
school are still not learning how to read, write, or do basic math. Building on previous research,
researchers in this study evaluated the impact of several targeted instruction programs on the learning
outcomes of primary school students in Ghana s public schools. Researchers found significant
improvements in numeracy and literacy on average, with regional variations. Of four interventions, in

Despite the obvious need for improvements to the education system, the Ghana government is already
investing a large portion of its budget into schools. Ghana spends approximately 30 percent of its
budget on education, with 99 percent of Ghana s contributions going toward salaries. There is,
therefore, a great need for cost effective strategies to improve students learning levels in Ghana.
Details of the Intervention
IPA partnered with Ghana Education Services, Ghana National Association of Teachers, and the
National Youth Employment Program, to develop and evaluate the Teacher Community Assistant
Initiative (TCAI).
The initiative recruited teaching assistants from high school graduates in local communities and
placed them into government primary schools across Ghana. Because the gap in academic
performance between the strongest and weakest pupils grows from first to third grade, the initiative
focused on pupils in grades 1 3 in government schools.
The first phase of TCAI tested four different programs, reaching 25,000 pupils. Five hundred schools
across 42 districts, chosen to be nationally representative, were randomly assigned to one of five
groups:
In school remedial TCAs: Teacher community assistants taught remedial classes during school hours,
with a focus on basic literacy and numeracy skills. The remedial sessions were targeted to the weakest
pupils in first through third grades. (100 schools)

Ways Of Classifying Superheroes
If someone is asked which superhero they d like to be, they might pick one in a few seconds. Picking
which superhero or even having one superpower is an important milestone in someone s life. There
are many ways to classify a superhero; what their powers are, if they wear capes or not, pre or post
comic movies, and how they became a superhero. The most important part is the categories of
superpowers. It s one of the various ways to decide which superhero to be. Classifying superheroes by
superpowers makes it easier to pick. The first type of superpower is one which changes your
appearance as a consequence. The Hulk, and the Thing, both from Marvel, are a part of this type. They
must transform into giant creatures to have their superpower. The Hulk and the Thing both have super
strength but the Hulk has to be big and green, while the Thing is covered with giant orange rocks. It d

hold his optic blasts in check. Another type of superpower requires one to temporarily change
appearance to use it. The Human Torch can fly, but only if he bursts into flames, and then he can take

Human Torch can also ignite parts of his body, so he doesn t need to burst his whole body into flames.

making Sarah cry had to stand up to peer pressure and in don t give up the fight the girl had to show

Witch Hunts of the Early Modern Period as the Result of Religious and Social Upheaval
The Early Modern Period was a time of great change in and around Europe. The people of the age
were faced with upheaval of all forms; religious, social, political and even economical.
Religious upheaval stemmed from changes in religious views and practises. The Reformation was a
hugely significant event that took place in the years spanning 1520 1650. It was a religious, and
political, movement in Europe that began as an attempt to reform the Roman Catholic Church, but
ended in the establishment of Protestantism and Protestant churches. The aim of the reformers was to

Without doubt, everyone s religious ideas were being influenced and changed by what was going on
around them. Concerning these changes, the Reformation caused a distinct change in the beliefs of the
devil amongst the Protestant formers. Roman Catholics believed in the devil but had always believed
they could defeat him, and had certain ways of protecting themselves from Satan s wickedness. In the
Catholic faith, it was common to deploy supernatural weapons against the devil, such as candles and
holy water. The weapons were thought to offer protection against evil spirits, and as Darren Oldridge
comments in his book; The Devil and the Reformation , even the ringing of church bells was accepted
as protection against flying demons. Catholics believed that their traditional rituals such as these
protected them from the evils of the devil and therefore they weren t as scared of him as they could
have been, these magical rituals that helped them face him. Consequently, with the Reformation, the
reformers decision to reject the practises of the Roman Catholic faith resulted in them losing these
magical rituals that had protected people from, and defeated , the devil for so many years. Protestants
believed that a person could not do anything to earn the love of God and therefore lived in devote
prayer, and worked extremely hard to try

In some Christian religions these three individuals are considered
to exist as one, and it is referred to as The Trinity. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day
Saints, however, believes that God the Father, Jesus the Messiah, and The Holy Spirit are three
distinctly separate individuals with their own distinct roles in our eternal progression. According
to the church s first Article of Faith, We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son,
Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost. . We esteem this principle of the gospel of Jesus Christ to
be so important that in the recorded word of God that is the Pearl of Great Price, there is a
Prophet to whom the Lord gave a commandment that highlighted the plain and simple need of
the understanding of this principle. In Moses chapter 7, verse 11, And he gave unto me a
commandment that I should baptize in the name of the Father, and of the Son, which is full of

Research Methods Are Based On Aims And Understanding The...
1. Qualitive research methods are based on aims and understanding the world through ideas, beliefs,
practices and values, they do this by using the term meaning over measurement. Qualitive researchers
try to understand society by analysing feeling and words rather than numbers and data. However
unlike Quantitive researchers they use the scientific approach and believe that the world can be proved
using number and percentages. I have chosen to use Qualitive research because I think it is a better
way of understanding the world because I think it is the most appropriate way of knowing what people
s experiences and attitudes of the world are. For instance methods such as interviews, conversation
and focus groups which create a nice environment for people to discuss their feelings and beliefs on a
certain topic. With all the information you have gathered from a focus group, you then can take that
information to create a hypothesis. Then from there you can come up with a theory; however it won t
necessarily prove anything to an exact it will only come from what we have all ready experienced in
our lives. Whereas Qualitive approach would take a survey on how much, or how much and this
method would then prove evidence by data. The use of rigorous qualitative research methods can
enhance the development of quality measures the development and dissemination of comparative
quality reports as well as quality improvement efforts , Sofaer (2002) . Also in my opinion I believe

Some of the quality mistakes bring uncountable cost, while some bring companies to the end of their

companies start any strategies. On the other hand, the government should strictly control the quality of

Last but not least, the subject of diversification. It is well known that, the fluctuation of the economy
is unavoidable and one corporation, if they only produce one product, the fluctuation will inevitably
influence the corporation. Fortunately, corporations can learn from the principle of investment
portfolios, which divides the risk into pieces and would definitely decrease the probability of failure.
Even though corporations who only focus on one product seem to gain higher quality, it is not
necessarily the truth it might be a struggle for corporations to survive in competitive circumstances.
Next comes the problem of how to manage the portion of every product and how many products
should a corporation afford to minimize the risk of failure while gain a higher profit? The number of
possible answers is quite vast. For example, making decisions fitted with the corporation s real
situation, making full use of mathematic models to decide the number of the category, hiring
professional corporations for consultant, etc.

A Constructivist approach according to Wenglisnky, H.,(2005) will use technology to help a student better learn and understand a given topic, using visual aids, programs etc. While a didactic will do the complete opposite. Aside from the teaching methods used in a technology based education system. There is always constructive ways to use technology as well as unconstructive ways. In a classroom environment a teacher may ask students to do research on a given topic, while setting standards of plagiarism and showing students how to complete research at an early age. It can also be beneficial for students to familiarize themselves with commonly used programs and software used in today s work industry, such as Microsoft word and power point. It can give the student the ease and facility to find the resources needed at his fingertips. At the same time it can be very un constructive for a student if he or she uses technology in a classroom for entertainment and media. • 4. My Experience with Soccer and Asthma As a young boy growing up, I like many sports, but soccer was my all time favorite. I loved soccer because I was also good at playing the sport as well as analyzing games. I never had a problem staying glued to my couch watching a soccer game all day. I always relished the prospect of waking up to a soccer game on a Saturday morning. It was such a delight. Being an avid soccer lover, it is no surprise that I had dreams of playing professionally. I wanted to be like Zinedine Zidane because he was my favorite soccer player at the time. At age 9, my mom registered me in a local soccer academy where young kids were trained and nurtured in the sport. I was really excited because I believed it was the start of an illustrious soccer career. Playing as a center forward, I enjoyed each and every minute on the pitch and also the atmosphere. My family would always come to watch me play and cheer for me. That buoyed me and gave me a lot of confidence as I kept thinking that one day, they would have to sit on the couch in front of the television watching me playing professional soccer. At age 12, I was privileged to meet one of the Nigerian national soccer team player Kanu Nwankwo. He was known worldwide and most of his teammates saw him as a role model. On the day he visited our academy, he talked to us on many issues mostly on being focused and working towards making our dreams become reality. Brazil and Cuba were among the first colonizations to practice the act of enslaving others to do one s bidding. Slavery was a fundamental foundation upon which these three nation s economy was built on. After tension, rebellions, and at times war, laws were passed to abolish the act of enslaving others. After the 13 colonies declared independence from Britain, they drafted their constitution in 1787. The word slavery was not written. The act of enslaving someone was not legally sanctioned and it violated the purpose of human liberty that the constitution stood for. The right to vote was also not permitted for indigenous people, slaves, and women. After the territorial expansion from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean, the U.S. became the leading force of industrial demand for raw materials such as cotton. Unlike the North, southern agriculture had built its economy on the foundation of enslaved labor. Slave trade to the U.S. had ended in 1808, and the northern states had abolished slavery in the 1780s, however the southern states had continued to rely on slave labor. When the Civil War broke out, it was not on the issue of abolishing slavery as a nation, but whether or not the new states that join should be slave free or not. Forbidding slavery in the western states would have halted any economic growth for the southern states who depended on slavery to thrive. It would also shift the balance in political power, arguing that slave ownership was a right protected by the constitution. • 9. The Portrayal Of Women Of Contemporary Rap Videos The aim of this study is examine the portrayal of women in contemporary rap videos, and to see if it could be potentially harmful. Unfortunately within the music industry like many industries sex sells, and the media has brought to light this fixation. Hip hop has persuaded a large portion of society that this is how women should be treated, but new times call for new measures and it is time that people realise this and give women the respect and dignity that many believe they surly deserve. In the rap world, women are a status of success, and they are treated almost as trophies: a way for rappers to show that they have made it to the top of their game. It is not that rappers feel that women are inferior, but they feel treating women like a collector s item is how they should go about flaunting their new found success. Rappers always try to have the best looking girls in their videos, which make other people, predominantly young men, think how they are living the high life, being able to get the best looking girls, girls they could only dream of getting. The intent of this façade is to simply make money, but rappers do not realise how much of an impact their music is having on the younger generations. COTSbot, which operates autonomously, recently performed well on trial test and its creators plan to deploy it in December. Until then, the robot needs to be tested on the reef. HOW IT DETECTS THE PREY In an interview with the BBC, COTSbot researcher Matthew Dunbabin explained how the robot operates, and how it detects starfish. In an interview with the Australian news agency, Dunbabin said It will never out compete a human diver in terms of sheer numbers of injections but it will be more persistent . WHY THE ROBOT WAS MADE Overpopulation by any species can have negative effects on any ecosystem, and an explosion in the starfish population led to the species eating away at the Great Barrier Reef. And as the COTSbot s university website says, the movement of nutrients to sea from land in the area since the 1960s has accelerated outbreaks of COTS to the detriment of the reef. According to Popular Science, Dunbabin began work on COTSbot ten years ago. Back then, however, the best usable poison known to them required 20 injections to kill a single starfish. Since then, they ve discovered that using bile (which the robot currently uses) injections is a much more efficient method of killing them. CHECK OUT THE ROBOT IN ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In all fairness, the time in college is indeed memorable. The reason as to why even Hollywood regularly releases movies with a theme and setting of college. What these movies inevitably end up doing is glamorizing the all things to do with college other than actually studying. In fact, in most instances, these movies glamorize parties, casual sex, drinking binges and use of drugs. To the high school teenager with raving hormones, this is a place to look forward to, which is if it ends up motivating them to the quests of higher grades. Nevertheless, parents and other stakeholders more so in the department of health are regularly wondering what exactly the place of sex in college is. (Bruce and Stewart) It is worth it to analyze the whole issue of sex with an open mind. The reason for this is that external influences cloud the perception of most regarding the topic of sex in relation to college. Society encourages modesty in matters relating to sex, ironically, the media is awash with sex if not explicitly, it is implicit. What about insects, there are plentiful in supply and are packed with proteins and other nutrients that the body needs; furthermore, using insects in our main diets will decrease the need for domesticated animals which causes creates problems for everyone; in contrast to insects, which have versatile ways for people to choose from, use less resources, and produce less waste. Lastly, if we decrease the population of insects it will actually benefit society by limiting the amount of infestation and their effects on crops, trees, etc. (DeFoliart, 1992) (Premalatha, 2011) (Verkerka, Trampera, Trijpb, Martensa, 2007). This proposal will examine the nutrients, environmental impacts, ethics, and effectiveness of an insect diet and will then be presented through a tri fold board with clear pictures, statistics and information about this topic. • 14. Cooperative Federalism In Texas Federalism has evolved throughout American history. At different points in time, the balance and boundaries between the national and state government have changed substantially (resulting in the dual federalism, cooperative federalism etc.). Dual federalism which can also be referred to as divided sovereignty draws a clear distinction between federal and state governments, with the state government exercising the powers given to them without the influence of the federal government. It can further be supported by the Tenth Amendment which states, The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States, respectively, or to the people. Cooperative Federalism is defined as the cooperative functioning of the state, national and local governments. The American ensemble functions according to the New Dual Cooperative Federalism. Federalism makes most policies lean more locally. States could tailor policy to fit their specific needs. For example, Texas has a very different social welfare system even under the supervision of the central federal system. Those who read Angelou s works should not pass the thought of where her influence came from. Maya Angelou s work has been heavily affected by the era in which she began to write. The fifties and sixties were a tumultuous time for most African Americans in the US. The civil rights movement, led by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), the National Urban League, Martin Luther King, Jr., and others, was instrumental in securing legislation, notably the Civil Rights Acts of 1964 and 1968 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. As reported by the U.S. Justice Department, there has been significant increase in incarcerated African American males, in comparison to Hispanic and White males. It is believed that social interaction, area of residency, and social networks have major influence on the increasing crime and incarceration rates of African American males. A larger portion of White males hold more positions within the U.S. Judicial system than African American males who make up a larger population of prison inmates and less involvement in legislation. This coincides with data suggesting that African American s have lower percentages of receiving or obtaining higher education, placing them in areas of low income and less opportunities. Social inequality in the judicial system is questioned as well as demographics and economics will be researched in order to provide in depth analysis of these national percentages of African Americans. Additional research is conducted to investigate circumstances once an African American male enters the criminal judicial system, and a generational cycle of crime. There is more knowledge and potential opportunities within the prison system versus the lack of resources these prisoners would feel they would have upon their release. The Judicial system appears to be White male dominated due to factors regarding higher education, as well as opportunities or resources to pursue careers of higher statuses. Keywords Computational Biology; Bioinformatics; Python; Biopython; Matplotlib; DNA Mining I. INTRODUCTION Biologists and life science researchers have been increasingly facing the challenge of dealing with large amounts of biological data. For example, sequencing the human genome requires the computing power of processing highly complex algorithms that can only be achieved in computers. Computational biology and bioinformatics have a lot of things in common yet some parts not in common. Computational biology concerns about developing data analytical modeling and computational simulation to study biological systems. On the other hand, bioinformatics involves how to extract, store, organize, analyze and visualize life sciences data. Python is a simple, concise, compact yet powerful programming language compared to other high level programming languages such as Java. Python has become more and more popular in the science and technology field because of its ease of use and more importantly because it is open source and has an energetic and innovative community to develop and improve its already powerful library ... The focus was on the interior workings of the earth and it described the movement of the earth and the process of redistribution. The earth is made up of several surfaces and the plates are rigid slabs of solid rock that move around the earth s crust and upper part of the mantel. They wrap around the globe like a net and interact at boundaries, such as land and ocean. There are three types of place boundaries, convergent, divergent and transform. Convergent boundaries are regions that develop when two tectonic plates collide. The area surrounding the collision becomes mountainous as the plates buckle. This happens through a process called subduction. Divergent boundaries ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The conflict over water is also overshadowed by the Arab Israeli issues and the subsequent territorial questions. The diversion of river systems is an area of international concern, the nature and extent of such interdependency is already extensive: 145 countries share over 261 international river basin. As demand increases, and as indigenous sources of water become fully utilized or exhausted, the only alternatives are likely to be international (Dolatyar, 2006). The weapons were thought to offer protection against evil spirits, and as Darren Oldridge comments in his book; The Devil and the Reformation , even the ringing of church bells was accepted as protection against flying demons. Catholics believed that their traditional rituals such as these protected them from the evils of the devil and therefore they weren t as scared of him as they could have been, these magical rituals that helped them face him. Consequently, with the Reformation, the reformers decision to reject the practises of the Roman Catholic faith resulted in them losing these magical rituals that had protected people from, and defeated , the devil for so many years. Protestants believed that a person could not do anything to earn the love of God and therefore lived in devote prayer, and worked extremely hard to try ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. The And Of The Godhead Oh my God! is a phrase that has become more and more frequently used in day to day conversations all across America. We often exclaim His name as we are given a new piece of information, become annoyed, are surprised, and when we are exhausted and pleading for help from deity. We hear His name in movies, song lyrics, and everyday life. There is no escaping it. Do we ever really stop and think about what it is that this phrase is saying? Who is God and is He really yours to be had? How can we as a society say and hear this phrase so often, and yet I don t think many of us actually know who this God is that we speak of. As we come to learn and understand who the members of the Godhead are, we will come to know and gain an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In some Christian religions these three individuals are considered to exist as one, and it is referred to as The Trinity. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, however, believes that God the Father, Jesus the Messiah, and The Holy Spirit are three distinctly separate individuals with their own distinct roles in our eternal progression. According to the church s first Article of Faith, We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost. . We esteem this principle of the gospel of Jesus Christ to be so important that in the recorded word of God that is the Pearl of Great Price, there is a Prophet to whom the Lord gave a commandment that highlighted the plain and simple need of the understanding of this principle. In Moses chapter 7, verse 11, And he gave unto me a commandment that I should baptize in the name of the Father, and of the Son, which is full of grace and truth, and of the Holy Ghost, which beareth record of the Father and the Son. Baptism, being a necessary ordinance for our salvation and eternal life, was to be done in, not

In this the church believes that all people deserve an equal chance to work and provide a living for not only themselves but their families as well. According to the USCCB the bottom 50% controls just 4.5% of the overall wealth in this country and that is not an even distribution of wealth. This means that those people who are in the bottom 50% do not have the same opportunities as the others because simply put they do not control nearly close to the same amount of money. Additionally the top 10% of people s income has increased by over 200% since 1948 while the other 90% has increased by only 100%. This shows that the top 10% s wealth has increased by double the amount the rest of the population has, meaning that the disparity of wealth in the nation is only begun to increase during the last 66 years. This is one of the problems that the Church has addressed because if people are living in poverty but still trying to work full time they are not being treated equally and to say that this is okay is morally ... • 37. My Trip To America Essay Being Filipino and growing up in America, my trip to the Philippines was an experience I will never forget. This was the first time I would be traveling to the place of my heritage. I was gladly going to live there for 2 years to finish my studies. I did not know too much of the Philippines, only the stuff my mother has been telling me about. She explained to me, that the weather was different in the Philippines. She told me it was very humid. That it was so humid, it was like walking in a sauna. This has become very useful, for I knew what type of clothes to bring over there. But as the day of my flight came closer, I could not help but feel nervous. I never met any of my relatives over there, nor did I know anything about the place. Then ... I stood up, and tailed the orderly crowd as we moved in a single file line. As I got closer to the door, I started to feel some nastily warm air. I felt like I walked into, what could surely be a sauna. My mother was right; the weather was definitely different from America. The air felt damp and heavy. It was surprisingly hard to breathe in the humid air. I felt sweat instantly roll from my face to my shirt. Telling me is one thing, but experiencing it, is completely different. After going through a couple security checks, immigration and customs, I was on my way out of the airport. As I made my way out, I noticed that not only was it humid, but also terribly smoggy. I anxiously looked around to find out where all the smoke was coming from. And surprisingly, it was coming from the cars. As I confusedly kept looking around, I saw a lady waving at me; it was my aunt. She and my cousin kindly helped me carry my bags as we walked to the car. On our walk, I had asked her why there was so much smog. She told me, that it was not like in America, cars in the Philippines did not have to go through a vigorously strict emissions check to be driven. I have learned that not only was the weather different, but so were the laws. Either way, the unbearably hard part was over with. As long as I did not have to fly, in coach, for another thirteen ... • 38. Research Methods Are Based On Aims And Understanding The... 1. Qualitive research methods are based on aims and understanding the world through ideas, beliefs, practices and values, they do this by using the term meaning over measurement. Qualitive researchers try to understand society by analysing feeling and words rather than numbers and data. However unlike Quantitive researchers they use the scientific approach and believe that the world can be proved using number and percentages. I have chosen to use Qualitive research because I think it is a better way of understanding the world because I think it is the most appropriate way of knowing what people s experiences and attitudes of the world are. For instance methods such as interviews, conversation and focus groups which create a nice environment for people to discuss their feelings and beliefs on a certain topic. With all the information you have gathered from a focus group, you then can take that information to create a hypothesis. Then from there you can come up with a theory; however it won t necessarily prove anything to an exact it will only come from what we have all ready experienced in our lives. Whereas Qualitive approach would take a survey on how much, or how much and this method would then prove evidence by data. The use of rigorous qualitative research methods can enhance the development of quality measures the development and dissemination of comparative quality reports as well as quality improvement efforts , Sofaer (2002) . Also in my opinion I believe that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some of the quality mistakes bring uncountable cost, while some bring companies to the end of their businesses. As a result, better quality than quantity should be advocated as a regulation before companies start any strategies. On the other hand, the government should strictly control the quality of products and make a more detailed policy on standards to stimulate corporations focus on the quality of their products. Last but not least, the subject of diversification. It is well known that, the fluctuation of the economy is unavoidable and one corporation, if they only produce one product, the fluctuation will inevitably influence the corporation. Fortunately, corporations can learn from the principle of investment portfolios, which divides the risk into pieces and would definitely decrease the probability of failure. Even though corporations who only focus on one product seem to gain higher quality, it is not necessarily the truth it might be a struggle for corporations to survive in competitive circumstances. Next comes the problem of how to manage the portion of every product and how many products should a corporation afford to minimize the risk of failure while gain a higher profit?
