The Effects Of Zika Virus Spreads Through Bites From...
The primary means by which the Zika virus spreads is through bites from infected mosquitoes of
which the Aedes mosquito is known to be the primary carrier (Center for Disease Control, 2016).
These mosquitos are active at night but are most prominent during the daytime. This is not, however,
the only means of transmission. An infected person may pass the virus on from mother to child, during
sexual contact, or during a blood transfusion. The transmission from mother to child is of serious
concern since the virus has been linked to microcephaly, a birth defect showcased by a smaller head
when compared to other babies (CDC, 2016). This is a sign that the brain has stopped growing. Once a
person is infected they will may experience a combination of fever, headache, rash, joint pain, and
conjunctivitis. The symptoms will usually remain for a period of two to seven days. Fortunately, the
number of fatalities caused by the virus has remained limited so far. Of those persons who survive
after becoming infected with the virus it is believed that they will have a type of immunity that will
prevent another infection from occurring (World Health Organization, 2016).
Although this disease has just recently come into the headlines worldwide, because of its prevalence
in Brazil with the upcoming Olympics, it was actually first discovered in the Zika Forest of Uganda in
1947 in monkeys. The first human case was not reported until 1952 (WHO, 2016). As a part of its
more recent history, the

Anger Is A Type Of Emotion
Many people ask the question of What anger is? Today in the 21st century people deal with anger and
do not know how to deal with it. Before dealing with anger you would have to know what causes
anger and what to do when others deal with anger. According to Think Psychology anger is an
emotion is a reaction to an object, event, person or memory (Baird, 194). Anger is a type of emotion,
which is experienced with facial expressions. Anger is a type of emotion, which is a primary emotion.
Some influences of an emotional expression are someone s personality, their culture which anger is
universal, or their gender.
Those who deal with anger it are normal for then to have stress when angry. Many people describe
anger as strong passion or emotion of displeasure (Chapman, Ch.1). Anger is neither a good or bad
emotion. There are other emotions like fear and depression that cause someone to feel angry. When
someone feels anger it can involve both the body and the mind.
A popular quote from Aristotle about anger is Anyone can become angry. That is easy. But to be angry
with the right person to the right degree, at the right time for the right purpose, and in the right way:
that is not easy. (Chapman, Ch.1). It is not easy for someone to be angry with someone or something
and at the same time have the same person make you angry.
The main reason that causes anger can be wither from stress, financial issues, social and family issues,
drugs and alcohol abuse or from aggressive

The Three Steps To Preparing A Room
For many people, painting a room may seem like a job exclusive to professionals, but anyone can do
it. Changing the color of a room is not a daunting task. When you combine careful preparation, high
quality materials, and patience, a room can effortlessly transform. The only tools and materials you
will need are: paint, a drop cloth, painter s tape, a paint cup, a roller pan, a paint brush, a roller, and a
roller cover. Having these few supplies will make painting effortless, quick, and enjoyable. The
process to paint a room is simple and easy because it involves only three steps: preparation, painting,
and cleaning. Preparing a room before painting is the most tedious step, but is crucial if you want the

time you cover a section, brush long, perpendicular lines and overlap the brushstrokes. Continue this
until the perimeter of the room is coated in a two inch border of paint. When finished, you are ready to
begin to paint the rest of the walls with your paint roller. (If you decide to paint the ceiling, painting
the ceiling first will avoid paint spatter on freshly painted walls).
To roll out the walls, fill a roller pan with paint, apply the roller cover to the roller, and immerse half
of the roller into the paint. Then, using the pan s angled platform, roll it back to remove the excess
paint. To avoid spatters and drips, do not overload the roller. Apply the paint to the wall in a W shape
to coat the surface in large sections. Roll back and forth over the painted section in the W shape until
the entire area is evenly coated. If the paint strokes begin to look thin, roll the roller into the paint tray
again. As you continue, overlap the area you painted with the brush. Repeat this process until you
have covered every wall with a consistent coat of paint. If you follow the process carefully and
effectively, the outcome should look exceptional. Apply a second coat if necessary and perform any
touchups as needed.

Habeas Corpus Essay
The Right of Habeas Corpus and the War on Terror
Introduction
September 11, 2001 changed the United States forever. This disastrous attack on the Pentagon and the
twin towers at the World Trade Center destroyed the lives of thousands of people. Over 3,000 people
were killed, including hundreds or firefighters and policemen, many of which were never found. The
attackers were Islamic terrorists from Arab nations.
The war on terror declared by the Bush Administration, had become one of the most important issues
in the United States during that time and still is today. However, it did not always protect those that
needed to be protected. There was the detention of potential suspects who were held without the right

S. Constitution. The habeas corpus has only been officially suspended twice since its inception. In
1861, President Abraham Lincoln suspended the habeas corpus in Maryland and some Midwestern
states due to riots and threats that Maryland would secede from the Union. The second suspension of
habeas corpus took place in the early 1870 s when President Ulysses S. Grand responded to civil
rights violations by the Ku Klux Klan (The Rutherford Institute).
Since the September 11th terrorists attacks, President Bush attempted several times to revoke the writ
of habeas corpus. An example would be denying the detainees of Guantanamo Bay habeas corpus by
granting him the power to be able to revoke habeas corpus for all citizens. By passing the Military
Commissions Act of 2006, habeas corpus was eliminated by allowing non citizen enemy combatants
to be held indefinitely in a military prison without access to a lawyer (The Rutherford Institute). Since
that time the denial of habeas corpus has been challenged.
Habeas Corpus and the War on Terror
After the terrorist s attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001, the Bush administration launched the
war on terror. The terms illegal combatant and enemy combatant became popular during this
campaign. Bush wanted to let the world know that if you are not with the United States then it was

the Macro environment of the Motorcycle industry as well as summaries the effect of the five forces

The reason for this is because suppliers for the motorcycle industry supply raw material and
components to the motorcycle industry where it is then used to manufacturer motorcycles. The
suppliers are usually, many small to large organisations and therefore tend not to have high bargaining
power. Also, motorcycle industries usually have high volume production which requires high volume
of raw material and components, so therefore motorcycle manufacturers tend to have higher bargain
power thereby reducing the price of the suppliers which increase the profits for them.
Motorcycles would be a high capital expenditure for a customer, and therefore price sensitivity would
affect bargaining power of customer in this industry thereby reducing the profit for the companies in
this industry.
Factors such as rising fuel prices and slow economic growth will impact two ways on the motorcycle
industry in term of substitutes. Regarding motorcycle as a form of transport, fuel prices had lead to
increase demand for motorcycle, therefore threat from cars will be low, and also switching cost from
motorcycle to cars is relatively high, thus making threat from cars low. On the other hand public
transport poses a higher threat as the switching cost to them relatively low.
Rivalry in this industry is very high with very large companies dominating the market, there also

Importance Of Self Discipline
We already know that self discipline is important, but do we really need it?
We know about success tools, and we familiarize ourselves with many useful resources that lead us to
success, so why do we need self discipline?
We all have goals for many areas of our lives. Some of us want successful relationships, some like to
get more money, others want simply happiness in their lives and others seek better health with less
weight. These are common goals, and we sometimes fail or succeed in achieving them. The general
question is: Why we don t achieve those goals? Why we don t become successful in these goals?
The general answer is: Lack of self discipline.
Success needs time. It does not happen at once. What you do today will determine the results in your
future. If you change your present, you change your future. If you eat a lot of pizzas and delicious
food today, you will gain weight, and this will show in your future weight. If you spend more money
than what you earn today, you will have less money in the future.
Present steps determine future results.
Self discipline takes place in your present which will lead to your future.
You can learn many tips and tools for your goals, but unless you take action for these goals, you will
never become successful in reaching them. Almost all goals need efforts and continuity. Self discipline
will enable you to get required efforts and continuity. If you need to lose weight, you need self
discipline among other skills to eat less. If

The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory was a perfect example of the average sweatshop in the early twentieth
century. It had long hours, low pay, hired young immigrant women, and most importantly, had a
dangerous work environment. On March 25, 1911, a fire started in the 8th floor on a rag tub and it
spread throughout the factory. The fire department did come, but it s ladder and hoses were too short

False Memory Syndrome
Psychologists have diligently studied the human mind for many years and have yet to discover some
of the ways that the brain performs simple and complex tasks. Since the knowledge that has been
obtained concerning processes of the brain remains a mere fraction compared to what is unknown
about cognitive functioning, individuals cannot fully grasp the reasoning behind why the brain
performs some of the acts it does. Many people daydream, picture themselves recovering lost items in
obscure places, or even create stories repeated so much that individuals begin to believe they may
have happened; all three of these examples are forms of creating a false memory. Many psychologists
have researched, evaluated, and experimented with false memory, which has lead to the discovery of
False Memory Syndrome, a condition in which individuals contract false memories while almost
always remaining oblivious to the act of creating a memory that is not factual or concrete (Berger 1).
False memory syndrome develops as a result of many different internal and external forces such as
mind manipulation in psychological malpractice, severe trauma to the brain in the first few years of
life, a traumatic experience, or even by forcing one s self into believing an entirely made up thought;
however, seemingly healthy individuals can contract the syndrome without the slightest idea it is
present.
Some people tend to use a coping mechanism called confabulation to put their mind in a state of
peace,

Proposal About Wildlife Endangerment
Dear Carter Roberts,
I am writing to you today to express my concerns and to propose a plan regarding the serious issue
with wildlife endangerment. More than 100 million animals are killed each year. Some are simply
killed by hunters which essentially can be debated but the majority are killed for chemical testing used
in biology labs and climate change. We, as a society, need to act to start protecting the wildlife
throughout the world. I believe that this is an important issue because by protecting nature s animals,
we are enriching the earth. When we take care of wildlife, it helps keep water clean and gives us the
ability to drink fresh water. If we can all work together, I think that we can lower the number of
wildlife endangerment all together.
The first thing I suggest you doing is having more conferences on the endangered species act. This act
truly emphasizes on protecting animals and the areas they live in. For example, we should be
courteous towards these animals and not disturb the areas they live in. A vast majority of habitats are
ruined by humans for humans. I do understand that some areas need to be built to develop a stronger
economy, but we also need to think about the animals because we wouldn t be here if they all died.
These areas cover a massive amount of land, so it is important to think about what you are building
and why you are building it.
Next, I think that increasing the funds that every wildlife program has would be a huge benefit for
these

Joseph Campbell Heroism
American writer, mythologist and lecturer Joseph Campbell s definition of a hero is someone who has
given his or her life to something bigger than oneself . Growing up, children are most often taught that
heroes are typically people who have superpowers and who save people as well as the world by
fighting monsters and dragons. As children grow older, heroes transform towards modern heroes, such
as Marvel figures like Superman, Batman or Spider Man. Furthering even more from classics such as
the well known Marvel figures, a hero does not actually in fact have to have any superpower, be well
known, or even known at all. These heroes often times work in the background and are not given the
luxury of being respected and admired. Ree Dolly shares ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Campbell says in his writing that many heroes have been separated from their fathers or do not know
their fathers. The father quest is one motivation for a hero to begin the journey. One easy way to
remember atonement is to think at one, when the hero is at one with the father or the father figure.
This often comes at the end of the hero s journey and is the stepping stone that helps the hero take
his/her rightful place as leader in the society . As hard as it can be to come to terms with a missing
father figure, Ree Dolly is forced to accept her father s absence because of her given circumstances.

are very minimal and not adequately addressed to a large extent; restorative justice centres its main
attention on these parties. Since the adoption of RJ practices, there have been different types of RJ
created by various different countries that have also resorted to this practice, such as Family Group
Conferencing (NZ and Australia) and Sentencing Circles (Canada) and victim offender mediation.
Since, one of the main stakeholders of these conferences are victims, it is vital that their needs and
wants are being heard and met and victim satisfaction is also one of the key restorative values in these
conferences, thus it is important know whether their needs are being adequately met. This essay will
critically discuss the principle of restorative justice, how restorative justice effectively addresses the
concerns of victims using examples illustrated from Canada and New Zealand and the limitations of
RJ in certain crime cases in addressing victim concerns. . The concerns will be based on the different
proponents of RJ and the overall satisfaction that arises for victims out

Themes in John Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men Essay
John Steinbeck, an American novelist, is well known for his familiar themes of depression and
loneliness. He uses these themes throughout a majority of his novels. These themes come from his
childhood and growing up during the stock market crash. A reader can see his depiction of his
childhood era. In Of Mice and Men, Steinbeck shows the prominent themes of loneliness, the need for
relationships, and the loss of dreams in the 1930s through the novels character. Lennie Small, a
mentally impaired man, is first introduced to us traveling with George. George, however, is not related
to Lennie. Lennie travels with George because no one else understands him like he does. Lennie says,
Because...because I got you to look after me, and you got me ... Show more content on

George Milton is a hard working man who travels beside Lennie, yet he would rather travel by
himself. He would not have to worry about anyone but himself. He travels with Lennie, and we often
find him telling Lennie how much better off he could be without him. One simple reaction to Lennie
sets George off on a rant enough to say, God a mighty, if I was alone I could live so easy. I could go
get a job an work, an no trouble. No mess at all, and when the end of the month come I could take my
fifty bucks and go into town and get whatever I want. Why, I could stay in a cathouse all night. I could
eat any place I want, hotel or any place, and order any damn thing I could think of. An I could do all
that every damn month. Get a gallon of whisky, or set in a pool room and play cards or shoot pool...
An whatta I got ... I got you! You can t keep a job and you lose me ever job I get. Jus keep me shovin
all over the country all the time. (Steinbeck 12) This is important because it shows that George wants
to be alone but does not truly want to be lonely. Lennie is George s responsibility. George views
Lennie as a brother, friend, and partner in crime. Without Lennie, George is lonely but he knows that
he saves Lennie from his own personal misery in the end. George knows he needs Lennie just as much
as Lennie needs him. He needs his friendship and is lonely after he takes that friendship away from
himself. After killing Lennie, there is a shift in George s attitude. Killing

Forgiveness Found in Poetry, Drama, and Fiction
Posed to reflect upon the three units of study this semester, consisting of Poetry, Drama, and Fiction to
ascertain which genre is the most significant in influencing me, I am perplexed to choose only one.
Remarkably, I found in each of the genres explored insightful and supportive content from each unit
that has enabled me to hone in and accept my humanity as a parent. Connecting with characters from
each genre brought about a significant awareness and sensitivity. Regardless of geographical location,
date in time, structure of society, gender, race, or age, it is refreshingly evident in the midst of all the
contrasts there is a commonality; we are all imperfect humans. Each genre enhanced my credence of
making mistakes as we go through this journey of life, it is clear we struggle not only as humans but
more significantly, for this reader, as parents. Parents attempt do what is felt to be right for their
children with well meant intentions. Unfortunately, this sometimes becomes more of a learning
process for the parents involving mistakes for which we need forgiveness. At times greater mercy is
required when our flawed human nature is revealed by our mistaken repetition of the mistake, which
can create a greater burden adding regret. I find myself sympathetically identifying with these
characters, as they too walk the bumpy road of when your best isn t good enough. Frequently while
reading I found myself thinking or muttering I am not alone! or It isn t just

Roles And Roles Of An Administrative Officer
1. Ability to provide administrative support and assistance to the Operational and Clinical Director. I
have work experiences with elderly people in my previous job with the ACT FOCUS Disability. I
worked with the ACT FOCUS Disability as clients support officer, in which I administered
medications for elderly patients and clients. As a client officer, I liaised with colleagues to prioritise
elderly clients in term of attending doctor s appointment as well as driving them to visit family
members around Canberra. I have also driven elderly clients to the health club. In my previous role as
an administrative officer, I provide conflict resolution. This was where I used my common sense to
deal with many situations. When I was an administrative officer in the office of the Minister of
multicultural affairs, Joy Burch, I respond to both staff and clients in writing and face to face meeting.
In the past four years I was a secretary for the South Sudanese Australian Community Association In
in the ACT. I worked with people of all ages from the Southern Sudanese community, both
individually and as a group on a regular basis. These meetings are conducted in English due to the
diversity of languages spoken by the South Sudanese communities. In addition, I liaise with non

Police Brutality And The Riot
During 1992 in South Central Los Angeles, a riot started after the news of four white Los Angeles
police officers beating Rodney King was published on TV. It became daily news. The riot caused
many crimes to occur; participants of the riot burned down business stores, destroyed properties, and
some activities involved guns that have led to many deaths. Many South Central residents were
unsatisfied with police brutality and the way their community were being treated. Although the riot
only lasted for about a week, about 52 people were killed (Kivisto and Rundblad 82). The whole
neighborhood were ruined and destroyed. Ever since that riot, there were over 1 million property loss
(Kivisto and Rundblad 82), and over 700 businesses were burned down (Bergesen and Herman para.
1). Many people lost their jobs because their workplace were destroyed.
There were many different reasons that may have caused the 1992 riot in Los Angeles to occur.
However, not all of them were the main reasons of the riot. There were many side causes, for instance,
after the video of Rodney King being beaten was shown on television, residents of South Central Los
Angeles started to act up. They were affected by how King was being mistreated and how police
brutality played a big role in the video and their society. King s incident was very similar to many
other cases. For example, Anna Deavere Smith mentioned a case about Michael Zinzun from her book
Twilight Los Angeles 1992, Zinzun witnessed a police

Analysis Of The Soldier By Rupert Brookes
War is a horrible thing that can negatively change peoples lives forever. During world war one many
poets wrote about the good and bad they saw in war. Rupert Brookes Had a very positive view on war.
In his poem The Soldier he shows war as a great way to see the world and make new friends, when
really its quite the opposite. Wilfred Owens portrays war as a thing not of glory but of death and
suffering. His poem Dulce et Decorum est shows the terror of gas attacks and tries to convince the
readers that it s really not worth dying for your country. This Essay will argue through the use of
language features and quotes how we see big differences between views on war. Through two short
poems we re shown that it s glorious and gracious to die for your country, and then that its all a trick to
get more soldiers into the terrible trenches to try and turn the tide of the battle. Rupert Brookes has a
very positive view on war. Throughout his poem The Soldier he uses words with soft and positive
connotations to show that war is really a nice thing. If I should die, think only this of me: That there s
some corner of a foreign field that is forever England The metaphor creates the impression that when
you die in war you live on through a new life. This is shown again through the allusion Washed by the
rivers, blest by the suns of home. This represents a baptism almost, showing as if when you die in war,
you are reborn. Brookes uses the metaphor and allusion to make us wonder about what would happen
if he were to pass. He shows that even if he dies he won t stop living as he will always be there in that
small but meaningful corner of the empty field. Then he will be reborn, cleansed and freed by the
chains of war. The use of all the gentle and upbeat words, gives off the feeling that war is a great thing
and that its worth fighting for your country as you will be rewarded after death with a new life, to be
cleansed and reborn. The poem convinced thousands of young men to go and fight for their country
during the first world war. Many of them would go on to die and never return home to see their
families ever again. Wilfred Owens view on war is the opposite to Brookes. In his poem Dulce et

The Black Slave Codes, Jim Crow Laws, And Color Line
Especially considering the Civil Rights Movement was over 50 years ago. IT IS NO ACCIDENT that
the pivotal Supreme Court decision launching the modern civil rights movement was an education
case the 1954 Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka ruling. (Leadership Conference) For America
present day, the change in race relation has changed, technically for no longer are acts of hatred as
blatantly open and accepted; while they still do exist they are not as common and frequently exposed
as appropriate. The Black Slave Codes, Jim Crow Laws, and Color Line are within our societies
normative cluster cultures. This is where groups of culture habit a vicinity of likeness and share
appropriations, such as racial norms, bed rocked by realtor support, financed lender discrimination,
city property tax inequality increases, and school zonings. These are some of the new erected
obstacles that blacks face when trying to assimilate into a society not made for their habituation. Now
don t take my word for it, but just as a Racist would claim their non racist ways, so would an
individual who bares no observation from the receiving end of inequality. Just take for example the
school teacher interviewed during a psychological experiment in Europe on Racism. (Elliot, Jane) In
the South, anti Black violence declined. Black candidates were elected to political offices in
communities where blacks had once been barred from voting, and many of the leaders or

The Witch Craze Of The Sixteenth And Seventeenth Centuries
Gender, race, age, and ability have been used to shape the history and our understanding of human
sexuality, as well as how certain groups, specifically marginalized groups, were seen as degenerate or
delinquent people. When examining why and how specific groups of people were though of as being
sexual delinquents, it is important to use an intersectional lens, and consider how these different
categories and identities of gender, race, age, and ability work together to form experiences and
opinions. By marginalizing, controlling, and regulating the sexualities and bodies of those who were
women, people of colour, adolescents, or differentially abled, the social norm of a white, heterosexual,
patriarchy has been enforced through history. Throughout the history of humankind, women s bodies
and sexuality have been critiqued, chastised, and judged by society. During the witch craze of the
sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, many women were accused of being evil beings. Over 60,000
women were wrongfully executed by their accusers . It was believed that woman who were midwives,
challenged male authority, or were sexually promiscuous and given themselves to Satin and were now
evil and immoral beings. The more feminine senses, touch, smell, and taste were often associated with
being a witch . By accusing women who were sexual agents or who were associated with women s
bodies or sexuality (such as midwives) of being evil and executing them, men were able to use gender

Persuasive Effect On Plastic Surgery
Everyone at one point thinks about going under the knife, there was an 80% increase in the number of
girls 18 and younger receiving genital plastic surgery, according to the American Society for Aesthetic
Plastic Surgery (Simmons, 2016,para.3). Male and female teens, form ranges thirteen to nineteen years
of age, have thought or actually had done a plastic surgery on their bodies. Even though this procedure
is overpriced and the recovery time takes long, at the end many patients believe that the outcome is
worth it since they perceive themselves more beautiful. Plastic surgery has been getting popular
among teens because is helping them raise their self esteem, lowering their depression rate, and
enhancing their beauty.
Many girls have low self esteem during their teen years when they start to grow into their imperfect
bodies . Most girls start comparing and contrasting their bodies with other girls, so they start
developing the thoughts of cosmetic procedures to maintain a high self esteem. Sweeney (2009)
argues that teens are seeking plastic surgery to look normal and feel like a woman . Even though most
teen girls are not fully developed, they are eager to do some cosmetic procedures on themselves.
Kristen of River Edge, N.J. said that she has been wanting breast implants since she started puberty.
She felt uneven and unattractive because she grew curves but her breast did not grow along. Once she
had the procedure done she felt like a woman and her self esteem

Now with new technology, such as satellites systems, low altitude photography and side looking radar,
scientists can now figure that the world is losing about 20.4 million hectares of tropical forests
annually and if these figures are not reduced, we will lose all of our tropical forests in about 50 years.
It has been suggested that the high deforestation rates are caused partly by the fact that the new
surveys are more accurate and thus reveal old deforestation rates that have not been detected with
older methods.
At first there was concern only among foresters about deforestation but now the public has created
organizations such as Green Peace to help increase awareness and reduce deforestation. The Food and
Agriculture Organization or
F.A.O, has worked mainly within the forest community to find new and better ways to manage the
forests. Also, in 1985 there was the introduction of the Tropical
Forestry Action Plan or T.F.A.P. This plan involved the F.A.O, United Nations development programs,
the World Bank, other development agencies, several tropical country governments, and several
government organizations. Together they developed a new strategy. More than 60 countries have
decided to prepare national forestry action plans to manage their forests.
Tropical deforestation has various direct causes: The permanent

Through the northwestern portion of the site a manmade walking path has been established for
recreation purposes adjacent to the lowest point of the meadow. Despite there being a drainage culvert
for carrying rainwater under the pathway, there is noticeable erosion of the path itself, suggesting that
with ample rainfall such a culvert is insufficient, allowing rainwater to flow up and over the path
(Figure 8). This also draws into question the stability of the local area in terms of landslides and mass
wasting. Because the slope is greater than 25% it is very likely that mass wasting occurs in the area.
Slopes in the surrounding area are not steep enough for rock falls but with consistent heavy rainfall a
mudslide of clay and rock is possible, which could threaten recreational users of the park. Because
Taylor Mountain is a public open space preserve there is cause for concern when designing/building
structures associated with recreational use. Precautions must be taken when building to avoid hazards
of mass wasting and erosion. However, due to the nature of the preserve it is highly unlikely that any
type of large structure or septic system would be permitted. Noise pollution in this area is very mild
with only the occasional truck being heard on the 101 highway to the west. Unfortunately, a new fire
station is to be built within .6 miles and some local fauna may become disturbed by the wail of sirens.
Be advised that a sound barrier should be constructed around the fire station in order to minimize
disturbance of wildlife. One important note is that it was recommended in a biotic assessment that,
one of the proposed trails be removed from the plan (on Taylor Mountain) to avoid impacts to deer in
the oak woodland, and that another be realigned to avoid wetlands (Waaland, pg.1). In doing so further
disruption of wildlife habitat can be

  • 3. The Effects Of Zika Virus Spreads Through Bites From... The primary means by which the Zika virus spreads is through bites from infected mosquitoes of which the Aedes mosquito is known to be the primary carrier (Center for Disease Control, 2016). These mosquitos are active at night but are most prominent during the daytime. This is not, however, the only means of transmission. An infected person may pass the virus on from mother to child, during sexual contact, or during a blood transfusion. The transmission from mother to child is of serious concern since the virus has been linked to microcephaly, a birth defect showcased by a smaller head when compared to other babies (CDC, 2016). This is a sign that the brain has stopped growing. Once a person is infected they will may experience a combination of fever, headache, rash, joint pain, and conjunctivitis. The symptoms will usually remain for a period of two to seven days. Fortunately, the number of fatalities caused by the virus has remained limited so far. Of those persons who survive after becoming infected with the virus it is believed that they will have a type of immunity that will prevent another infection from occurring (World Health Organization, 2016). Although this disease has just recently come into the headlines worldwide, because of its prevalence in Brazil with the upcoming Olympics, it was actually first discovered in the Zika Forest of Uganda in 1947 in monkeys. The first human case was not reported until 1952 (WHO, 2016). As a part of its more recent history, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A popular quote from Aristotle about anger is Anyone can become angry. That is easy. But to be angry with the right person to the right degree, at the right time for the right purpose, and in the right way: that is not easy. (Chapman, Ch.1). The suppliers are usually, many small to large organisations and therefore tend not to have high bargaining power. • 11. Importance Of Self Discipline We already know that self discipline is important, but do we really need it? We know about success tools, and we familiarize ourselves with many useful resources that lead us to success, so why do we need self discipline? We all have goals for many areas of our lives. Some of us want successful relationships, some like to get more money, others want simply happiness in their lives and others seek better health with less weight. These are common goals, and we sometimes fail or succeed in achieving them. The general question is: Why we don t achieve those goals? Why we don t become successful in these goals? The general answer is: Lack of self discipline. Success needs time. It does not happen at once. What you do today will determine the results in your future. If you change your present, you change your future. If you eat a lot of pizzas and delicious food today, you will gain weight, and this will show in your future weight. If you spend more money than what you earn today, you will have less money in the future. Present steps determine future results. Self discipline takes place in your present which will lead to your future. You can learn many tips and tools for your goals, but unless you take action for these goals, you will never become successful in reaching them. Almost all goals need efforts and continuity. • 16. False Memory Syndrome Psychologists have diligently studied the human mind for many years and have yet to discover some of the ways that the brain performs simple and complex tasks. Since the knowledge that has been obtained concerning processes of the brain remains a mere fraction compared to what is unknown about cognitive functioning, individuals cannot fully grasp the reasoning behind why the brain performs some of the acts it does. Many people daydream, picture themselves recovering lost items in obscure places, or even create stories repeated so much that individuals begin to believe they may have happened; all three of these examples are forms of creating a false memory. Many psychologists have researched, evaluated, and experimented with false memory, which has lead to the discovery of False Memory Syndrome, a condition in which individuals contract false memories while almost always remaining oblivious to the act of creating a memory that is not factual or concrete (Berger 1). False memory syndrome develops as a result of many different internal and external forces such as mind manipulation in psychological malpractice, severe trauma to the brain in the first few years of life, a traumatic experience, or even by forcing one s self into believing an entirely made up thought; however, seemingly healthy individuals can contract the syndrome without the slightest idea it is present. • 17. Proposal About Wildlife Endangerment Dear Carter Roberts, I am writing to you today to express my concerns and to propose a plan regarding the serious issue with wildlife endangerment. More than 100 million animals are killed each year. Some are simply killed by hunters which essentially can be debated but the majority are killed for chemical testing used in biology labs and climate change. We, as a society, need to act to start protecting the wildlife throughout the world. I believe that this is an important issue because by protecting nature s animals, we are enriching the earth. When we take care of wildlife, it helps keep water clean and gives us the ability to drink fresh water. If we can all work together, I think that we can lower the number of wildlife endangerment all together. The first thing I suggest you doing is having more conferences on the endangered species act. This act truly emphasizes on protecting animals and the areas they live in. For example, we should be courteous towards these animals and not disturb the areas they live in. A vast majority of habitats are ruined by humans for humans. I do understand that some areas need to be built to develop a stronger economy, but we also need to think about the animals because we wouldn t be here if they all died. These areas cover a massive amount of land, so it is important to think about what you are building and why you are building it. Next, I think that increasing the funds that every wildlife program has would be a huge benefit for these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Growing up, children are most often taught that heroes are typically people who have superpowers and who save people as well as the world by fighting monsters and dragons. As children grow older, heroes transform towards modern heroes, such as Marvel figures like Superman, Batman or Spider Man. This often comes at the end of the hero s journey and is the stepping stone that helps the hero take his/her rightful place as leader in the society . The text uses past views of popular culture that are still ubiquitous today, to construct a sense of national ideology. • 21. Restorative Justice And The Justice Centres Restorative Justice(RJ) is a process in by which it takes an alternative form from the traditional CJS and aims to prompt resolution with offender, victims and the wider community in a safe setting. RJ looks at crime in terms of violation against the community and individual rather than a violation against the law (Gabbay, 2005). As with the traditional CJS, the voices of the victims and offenders are very minimal and not adequately addressed to a large extent; restorative justice centres its main attention on these parties. Since the adoption of RJ practices, there have been different types of RJ created by various different countries that have also resorted to this practice, such as Family Group Conferencing (NZ and Australia) and Sentencing Circles (Canada) and victim offender mediation. Since, one of the main stakeholders of these conferences are victims, it is vital that their needs and wants are being heard and met and victim satisfaction is also one of the key restorative values in these conferences, thus it is important know whether their needs are being adequately met. This essay will critically discuss the principle of restorative justice, how restorative justice effectively addresses the concerns of victims using examples illustrated from Canada and New Zealand and the limitations of RJ in certain crime cases in addressing victim concerns. . He uses these themes throughout a majority of his novels. These themes come from his childhood and growing up during the stock market crash. A reader can see his depiction of his childhood era. In Of Mice and Men, Steinbeck shows the prominent themes of loneliness, the need for relationships, and the loss of dreams in the 1930s through the novels character. Lennie Small, a mentally impaired man, is first introduced to us traveling with George. George, however, is not related to Lennie. One simple reaction to Lennie sets George off on a rant enough to say, God a mighty, if I was alone I could live so easy. I could go get a job an work, an no trouble. No mess at all, and when the end of the month come I could take my fifty bucks and go into town and get whatever I want. Why, I could stay in a cathouse all night. Lennie is George s responsibility. George views Lennie as a brother, friend, and partner in crime. Without Lennie, George is lonely but he knows that he saves Lennie from his own personal misery in the end. George knows he needs Lennie just as much as Lennie needs him. Remarkably, I found in each of the genres explored insightful and supportive content from each unit that has enabled me to hone in and accept my humanity as a parent. Connecting with characters from each genre brought about a significant awareness and sensitivity. Regardless of geographical location, date in time, structure of society, gender, race, or age, it is refreshingly evident in the midst of all the contrasts there is a commonality; we are all imperfect humans. Each genre enhanced my credence of making mistakes as we go through this journey of life, it is clear we struggle not only as humans but more significantly, for this reader, as parents. Parents attempt do what is felt to be right for their children with well meant intentions. Unfortunately, this sometimes becomes more of a learning process for the parents involving mistakes for which we need forgiveness. At times greater mercy is required when our flawed human nature is revealed by our mistaken repetition of the mistake, which can create a greater burden adding regret. It became daily news. The riot caused many crimes to occur; participants of the riot burned down business stores, destroyed properties, and some activities involved guns that have led to many deaths. Many South Central residents were unsatisfied with police brutality and the way their community were being treated. Although the riot only lasted for about a week, about 52 people were killed (Kivisto and Rundblad 82). The whole neighborhood were ruined and destroyed. Ever since that riot, there were over 1 million property loss (Kivisto and Rundblad 82), and over 700 businesses were burned down (Bergesen and Herman para. 1). Many people lost their jobs because their workplace were destroyed. There were many different reasons that may have caused the 1992 riot in Los Angeles to occur. However, not all of them were the main reasons of the riot. There were many side causes, for instance, after the video of Rodney King being beaten was shown on television, residents of South Central Los Angeles started to act up. They were affected by how King was being mistreated and how police brutality played a big role in the video and their society. King s incident was very similar to many other cases. • 28. Analysis Of The Soldier By Rupert Brookes War is a horrible thing that can negatively change peoples lives forever. During world war one many poets wrote about the good and bad they saw in war. Rupert Brookes Had a very positive view on war. In his poem The Soldier he shows war as a great way to see the world and make new friends, when really its quite the opposite. Wilfred Owens portrays war as a thing not of glory but of death and suffering. His poem Dulce et Decorum est shows the terror of gas attacks and tries to convince the readers that it s really not worth dying for your country. This Essay will argue through the use of language features and quotes how we see big differences between views on war. Through two short poems we re shown that it s glorious and gracious to die for your country, and then that its all a trick to get more soldiers into the terrible trenches to try and turn the tide of the battle. Rupert Brookes has a very positive view on war. Throughout his poem The Soldier he uses words with soft and positive connotations to show that war is really a nice thing. If I should die, think only this of me: That there s some corner of a foreign field that is forever England The metaphor creates the impression that when you die in war you live on through a new life. This is shown again through the allusion Washed by the rivers, blest by the suns of home. This represents a baptism almost, showing as if when you die in war, you are reborn. Brookes uses the metaphor and allusion to make us wonder about what would happen if he were to pass. He shows that even if he dies he won t stop living as he will always be there in that small but meaningful corner of the empty field. Then he will be reborn, cleansed and freed by the chains of war. The use of all the gentle and upbeat words, gives off the feeling that war is a great thing and that its worth fighting for your country as you will be rewarded after death with a new life, to be cleansed and reborn. The poem convinced thousands of young men to go and fight for their country during the first world war. Many of them would go on to die and never return home to see their families ever again. The Witch Craze Of The Sixteenth And Seventeenth Centuries Gender, race, age, and ability have been used to shape the history and our understanding of human sexuality, as well as how certain groups, specifically marginalized groups, were seen as degenerate or delinquent people. When examining why and how specific groups of people were though of as being sexual delinquents, it is important to use an intersectional lens, and consider how these different categories and identities of gender, race, age, and ability work together to form experiences and opinions. By marginalizing, controlling, and regulating the sexualities and bodies of those who were women, people of colour, adolescents, or differentially abled, the social norm of a white, heterosexual, patriarchy has been enforced through history. Throughout the history of humankind, women s bodies and sexuality have been critiqued, chastised, and judged by society. Now with new technology, such as satellites systems, low altitude photography and side looking radar, scientists can now figure that the world is losing about 20.4 million hectares of tropical forests annually and if these figures are not reduced, we will lose all of our tropical forests in about 50 years. It has been suggested that the high deforestation rates are caused partly by the fact that the new surveys are more accurate and thus reveal old deforestation rates that have not been detected with older methods. At first there was concern only among foresters about deforestation but now the public has created organizations such as Green Peace to help increase awareness and reduce deforestation. The Food and Agriculture Organization or F.A.O, has worked mainly within the forest community to find new and better ways to manage the forests. Through the northwestern portion of the site a manmade walking path has been established for recreation purposes adjacent to the lowest point of the meadow. Despite there being a drainage culvert for carrying rainwater under the pathway, there is noticeable erosion of the path itself, suggesting that with ample rainfall such a culvert is insufficient, allowing rainwater to flow up and over the path (Figure 8). This also draws into question the stability of the local area in terms of landslides and mass wasting. Because the slope is greater than 25% it is very likely that mass wasting occurs in the area. Slopes in the surrounding area are not steep enough for rock falls but with consistent heavy rainfall a mudslide of clay and rock is possible, which could threaten recreational users of the park. Because Taylor Mountain is a public open space preserve there is cause for concern when designing/building structures associated with recreational use. Precautions must be taken when building to avoid hazards of mass wasting and erosion. However, due to the nature of the preserve it is highly unlikely that any type of large structure or septic system would be permitted.
