Taming the Dragons
Cummins: Licensing to Joint Venture Risks in Licensing To enter and explore the Chinese market,
Cummins Inc. adopted a licensing strategic alliance in the early 1980s. It signed two license
agreements initially; firstly with CQAEP and the other with DFM. There were various risks involved
in using licensing, as control over the technology is weakened. There was also a problem in
adequately protecting the licensed technology from unauthorised use by other parties. This led to rise
in competition. Cummins Inc. was not able to penetrate the Chinese market with its new and advanced
technological products as the licensees did not keep up with the technical improvements elsewhere in
the world. This exposed Cummins Inc. to various reputational ... Show more content on

Wider access to the market. Cannot engage in direct business activities Agents No need of market
study. Low costs (just commission) Dependency on agents. The company initially entered into the
Chinese market through licensing. Having gained sufficient local knowledge, it wanted to capture
further the growing market with a new strategy which would be a direct involvement for which it
could consider exporting and agencies. These would not allow it to form strong customer
relationships. Cummins Inc. could also consider opening a Representative Office or a R D Consortia
but it wouldn t give them access to the Chinese market. Another option for it is to set up a wholly
foreign owned enterprise which would require very high investments and intense market study.
Finally, Sino US Joint Venture was the best option for them as it not only allowed them to enter the
market fully but also to share the costs and risks with its Venture partner. Role of Vice President Steve
Chapman, vice president (VP) of East and Southeast Asia (EA) Area Business Organizations (ABOs)
for Cummins Inc. was suddenly given the responsibility of VP of International Business. His
replacement was to be filled as soon as possible because the VP of EAABO is required to report the

Abstract
The challenge of nonprofit leadership can prove to be daunting for even the most optimistic of
individuals. The nonprofit industry is and expanding revolution, a force said to influence national and
global economies. Domestically, the nonprofit sector accounts for more than half of America s general
hospitals, nearly half of its education institutions and most of its family service agencies (Rowe,
2013), opportunities created by economic and political failures. In the wake of rapid development,
environmental pressures, economic impact, and growing challenges, nonprofits are being placed under
a microscope, being pushed to take more strategic approaches to NPO management and to apply
sound business principals. For a novice in nonprofit leadership, such as I, the endeavor of creating a
sustainable organization in such a competitive environment can be intimidating.
In the text, Introduction to Nonprofit Management, Rowe and Conway present the key theories of
NPO management through case studies. The examination of these cases highlight managerial issues
and trends that lead to the success and failures of many NPOs. This paper will analyze the areas of
management most foundationally critical to the survival and growth of a start up nonprofit
organization. Board selection, board governance, and leadership, are the steering wheel

Classifying Countries Of The Modern World
Classifying Countries of the Modern World The ocean is a vast pool with many different kinds of fish,
no fish is exactly the same. You can say the same about the countries of the world, but the best way to
put all these countries into groups is by judging whether they are developed or developing. Countries
develop at their own pace and geographers use the stage of their development to categorize them. For
example, take Japan and Ghana. Both countries are very different in almost every aspect of life, Japan
is a developed country, and Ghana is a developing country. Ghana differs from Japan in population
and its growth, as Ghana has a younger population and more difficulties in maintaining the health of
their population. Ghana also differs from Japan in its land use and agriculture by having more
subsistence farming, while Japan concentrates more on commercial farming. Developed countries,
such as Japan, have older and more stable populations than developing countries. One of the statistics
that helps define the growth of a population is the total fertility rate(TFR) which is the number of
children born per woman. Japan has a very low TFR of 1.4 births per woman which shows that Japan
s population is decreasing and will continue to decline because their TFR is well below replacement
level. The replacement level fertility rate is 2.1 births per woman and would keep a population
completely stable because it accounts for a man, a woman and a small percentage of people who don t

Developments in the Study of Cryptography Essay
Since the beginning of civilization, humans have needed a way to communicate in secret. Whether it
be a letter to a lover or a set of orders for an army, it would be paramount for these messages to arrive
unknown and untouched. However at some point, a person could easily apprehend the message;
perhaps a spy or the letter bearer, nevertheless the chance of the message being compromised would
be quite high. Thus one would have to change the message to appear as meaningless nonsense to those
others than the intended recipient. This idea formed the basis of cryptography, the backbone of digital
security. Cryptography is the study and practice of secure communications between two parties
usually in the presence of a malicious entity, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus by only knowing what the cipher was, one would know what the original message was. Early
ciphers were primitive and involved the manipulation of the characters in a message. A transposition
and substitution cipher was very common in the classical age before computers. A transposition cipher
involved merely arranging the letters in a message while a substitution cipher involved changing the
letters in a message to a different one in the alphabet or to a symbol. Julius Ceasar used a form of
substitution cipher in which he simply changed the letter to its respected position three spaces in front
of it in the alphabet. As one can imagine, such a cipher was easy to break just from analyzing the
ciphertext, and thus more complicated ciphers involving mathematical theory were created. However
as the advancement of cryptography continued, so did its contrary field of cryptanalysis, the
interpretation of protocols. This arrived at the discovery of frequency analysis; the process in which
the repetition of certain characters in a language is greater than those of other characters. Thus the
frequency of certain meaningless characters in a ciphertext would be higher than those of other ones.
This meant that a new method of encrypting messages had to be invented as any cipher could be
broken. This new method involved putting a private key ( a string of characters) into the cipher so that

I choose this topic as it indirectly affects the company that I work for, as we are in the aftermarket
truck accessories business. This report will concentrate on two of the three major auto makers in North
America. The third company has already filed chapter 11 in the bankruptcy court in New York,
Chrysler LLC. At the onset of 2009 all three of the auto makers were in very poor financial positions;
that is when the stimulus packages were introduced by the U.S. president Mr. Barrack Obama.
Chrysler LLC was the first to accept the stimulus package with General Motors not far behind. Ford
Motor Company still has not accepted any stimulus money from the U.S. Government. What is so
different between General Motors and Ford that one had to get help from the government and the
other did not? The differences in product and financial strategies along with listening to what the
customers want could be some of the major differences between the two surviving companies.
Porter s Five Forces Analysis
Michael Porter identified five forces that influence an industry. These forces are:
1. Degree of rivalry,
2. Threat of substitutes,
3. Barriers to entry,
4. Bargaining power of customers, and
5. Bargaining power of suppliers.
Like other industries operating under free market, capitalistic systems, viewing the automotive

Helicobacter Pylori Infection
Abstract
Helicobacter pylori is a bacterium responsible for worldwide chronic bacterial infection in human. At
least half of the world s population host H. pylori that causes various gastric pathological outcomes
with some leading to gastric cancer. The infection by this bacterium has directly or indirectly caused
an impact on economic and general well being of the people; hence, there is an urgent need to
discover diagnostic markers that could be utilized for future development of diagnostic kits that are
highly sensitive and specific. Here, we briefly review general aspects of H. pylori infection and the
diagnostic biomarkers currently used in laboratory tests for the diagnosis of H. pylori infection with a
focus on the role of microfluidic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Besides that, protein based diagnostic kits are also available in ELISA and latex agglutination test
cards (20). Elisa Kits are the most specific and sensitive test for detection of H. pylori infection,
however, these tests are expensive and time consuming. Another lab based serological method is
immunoblotting. Immunoblotting is also performed as a lab based serological method. These assays
detect anti H. Pylori antibodies in either fecal, whole blood, serum, or urine (20, 95 98). Most of the
commercial antibody based tests for detecting H. pylori infection use bacterial lysate or partially
purified bacterial antigens. Only a few recombinant antigen based tests have recently been introduced
into the market. Due to higher sensitivity and specificity over a single antigen, most commercial
diagnostic kits apply a mixture of antigenic extract (18 20, 29, 97). However, the names of antigens
used in commercial kits are usually undisclosed (Table 2). The cost of diagnostics is also one of the
important factors for developing rapid kits. To decrease the cost, several parameters should be
considered: (1) minimal use of expensive reagents, (2) inexpensive manufacturing for mass
production, (3) quality control, and (4) miniaturization. In addition, for clinical use of medical
diagnostic devices in resource limited settings, environmental

Analysis Of Nighthawks By Edward Hopper
Nighthawks by Edward Hopper is one of my all time favorite paintings, and has been a painting I have
enjoyed researching throughout my life because of how much I resonate with this painting. This is an
astonishing painting, not only in the sense of it being beautiful art, but because this is a piece that is so
significant and loved by so many people around the world. I would say that even if you have not ever
seen the original painting, you have probably seen it reproduced in different ways in many different
places.
The world is bursting with all kinds of versions of this painting. All of these tributes are made because
of how much this painting has resonated with the people who have seen it. The beautiful composition
and the many well used elements in this painting have always intrigued and interested me. I think that
Hopper created a piece that can truly resonate with so many different people.
Edward Hopper expressed his love for art early in his life and was determined to make something out
of himself in the field of art:
Edward Hopper was born in Nyack, New York, a town located on the west side of the Hudson River,
to a middle class family that encouraged his artistic abilities. After graduating from high school, he
studied briefly at the Correspondence School of Illustrating in New York City (1899 1900), and then
he enrolled in classes at the New York School of Art (1900 1906). In his shift from illustration to the
fine arts, he studied with William Merritt Chase, a

The Importance Of Girl Scouting
How has Girl Scouting helped you develop courage, confidence, and character? (250)
When I started Girl Scouting as a Daisy, I saw myself as shy and young. While those descriptors were
accurate, I no longer use them. Girl Scouting taught me that I, like every girl in my troop, had the
potential to be more. Someone who does not understand girl scouting might not know the distinctions
between daisies and brownies, or Cadettes and seniors other than the difference in the color of the
uniforms. However, I distinctly remember the importance of the bridging ceremony when I became a
Brownie. It was significant to me because I had seen the example which other Brownies before me
had set and I was eager to leave the same impression on girls younger ... Show more content on

Even though the project was more difficult than I expected, the process was beneficial to both me and
the community. My project was only successful because of the contributions made by members of my
team. However, being a leader of this team was challenging. I had intentionally made a team with a
diverse group of people who could offer insightful perspectives. However, I did not anticipate how
difficult it would be to loosen my grip on the creative control of the project. Before beginning the
construction of the kits, I had a clear vision for the majority of the kits. Even though it was
challenging for me to accept, this project taught me that being a leader is more than telling people
what to do; it is about bringing people and ideas together while maintaining structure and
organization. At the end of the day, I could not be happier with how the kits turned out since so many
people on my team had such fantastic ideas. Additionally, after I learned to trust the capabilities of the
people I was working with, I was able to be a better leader because I was in a position to make the
entire project more efficient by talking to my peers rather than at them. I am really excited about how
well my Girl Scout Gold Award has been received. The day that I brought the boxes into the school, I

retailers enter Australian market, increase trend of online shopping supported by strong Australian
dollars and also strong market positioning of major domestic retailers. This situation will make the
industry become more attractive but also there is higher risk of failure if the industry players do not
have strong market position in the end (IBISWorld, 2012). 1.2 Industry market segments Given the
alignment of product segmentation towards women s clothing, women make up the majority of buyers
in each key age demographic. According to the chart, the major market for clothing retail industry is
people aged 29 to 43 years, which accounted for about 39% of the market. Fashion trends and brands

The Creation Story Of Adam And Eve Analysis
By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you
were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return . In The Creation Story of Adam and Eve ,
those are the words God tells Adam and Eve when they failed to obey God s only rule, not eat from
the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Throughout the story we follow their relationship with God, in
the events that began with their creation and ended in their exile. Therefore, in my sole opinion based
on The Creation of Adam and Eve , the story depicts Adam and Eve s relationship with God and the
underlying meaning of their existence and the oedipal conflict that is portrayed. It suggests that maybe
the story is a tale told in order to understand why we exist and our personal purpose as well as to
recognize the effects of the authoritarian commands God expressed to Adam and Eve. The phrase
existence precedes essence as told by Sartre means, we exist first and then we do things that define
ourselves and live our lives in whatever way we choose. This is the case in, The Creation Story of
Adam and Eve , when God created Adam from the dust of the ground and Eve from one of Adam s
ribs. He brought them to life in the Garden of Eden, but it was up to them to create a purpose to exist.
Therefore, Adam and Eve s actions of disobedience were perhaps a way of God testing humankind by
showing them paradise (Garden of Eden) and what we were to lose if we d disobeyed him. God gave
Adam a garden to take care of, animals to name, and a wife for companionship. And they both got
banished from paradise for choosing to have the freedom of disobeying and as a result they have to be
responsible for their actions. For instance, in the Existentialism Lecture , it says that from an
existentialist point of view, We must choose what to do, where to go, and most importantly, what is
meaningful to us and why. With choice comes two related concepts: freedom and responsibility . Eve s
wrongful actions are the cause of why women to this day have had to fight harder than men to achieve
their place in society. As for Adam, his actions brought men to work for a living, which nothing in life
is easy, and you have to strive for it, it

Physical And Emotional Abuse Explored The Color Purple
Both physical and emotional abuse explored The Colour Purple and The Help helps to create
awareness of the central issues. Both are novels that carry a lot of similarities, where the female
characters are portrayed as invisible , servants and child carers . However, after reading carefully into
the biographical work of both authors the critical difference I observed was that The Colour Purple is
written by an African American woman who may have truly experienced the harshness of what she
was writing about; on the other hand The Help by a white woman who had servants at an early age of
her life, who would help her has enabled me to consider not only if the novel lacks authenticity but if
Kathryn s reason to writing the novel was to catch the readers mind about such harsh conditions of to
actually affect the audience with the physical and emotional abuse. Walker was born in 1944, Georgia,
USA, a life rooted in the hardship of the racial terror and the wisdom of the African American life and
culture of that time. On the other hand, Kathryn Stockett was born 1969, Jackson, Mississippi, USA,
after the uproar of the civil rights movement; she is an English/Creative Writing graduate of the
University of Alabama.
Through further reading of Kathryn Stocketts upbringing in multiple articles, growing up in
Mississippi, Stockett had a much pampered lifestyle; she had a maid working in her house, cooking,
cleaning, and taking care of her. She believed the story of the Black maids

Latino Population And Hispanic Population
Currently within the United States one of the fastest growing minority population (Schwartz Scott,
2012) is the Latinos. In 2010 Census Bureau Brief ( Ennis, Rois Vargas, Albert, 2011) it stated how an
estimated 15 million Latino individuals were living within the United States, which is approximately
about 16% of the entire U.S. population. There is one big problem with addressing the Latino
population, and that is the family patterns are either misrepresented or not properly understood, due to
the label of Hispanic and Latinos being placed together. These two groups may share the same spoken
language of Spanish and have similar cultural ancestry but the diversity among Hispanic and Latinos
(Schwartz Scott, 2012) make generalizations about their lifestyles difficult. The term Hispanic came to
be used in the 1970 s by government officials (cdc.gov, 2011) in trying to provide a diverse label on
this population that had connections to speaking Spanish and the Spanish culture. Latino became more
of a termed to be used when distinguishing between Mexican (Hispanics) and Latinos who
descendants from Latin America such as Cuba and Puerto Rico.

NURS 411.01 Issues and Leadership in Nursing
Delaware State University
The nursing shortage in healthcare has been a highlighted issue for many years. With the ever growing
health care system, hospitals and healthcare facilities often find themselves searching for ways to
acquire new nurses and retain their very own. Throughout the years, the number one solution to this
problem remains the same: decreasing nurse turnover, and increasing nurse retention. This paper
discusses the causes of high nurse turnover rate, the negative effects on health care, and ways to
improve the turnover rate. Before we can examine the consequences of high nurse turnover, we must
examine the reasons nurses choose to leave their employer and look elsewhere for work.
According to Hunt (2009), feeling overworked is the number one cause for nurse turnover in health
care settings. Other reasons at the top of the list include, lack of support from employers and few
opportunities for advancement. Due to the nursing shortage, staffing has been an issue in many
healthcare facilities. As a result, units are consistently short staffed, causing nurses to feel overworked
and unsupported by management. Cline (2004) highlighted nurse frustration when a participant in the
study stated, When you re constantly short staffed and feel your managers aren t supporting you at

A Child Called It By David Pelzer
The book A Child Called It is an interesting story. It takes place in San Francisco, California. It s a

When David reached the age of twelve the teachers began to get involved, and then he was placed in
Foster Care. From the age four to twelve David was mistreated, and finally he got away from it all.

Low Cost Counseling Benefits
Many individuals and/or couples would like to go to counseling, but, in today s economy, it may not
be possible because of the expense. I will give you an idea of what to expect as far as costs go.
Free or Very Low Cost
Often times you can actually find free or low cost counseling at universities and/or churches, but there
may not be many choices.
Graduate school counseling programs You will need to get out your phonebook and/or look on the
internet for local universities. Call them, ask if they have a graduate counseling department, and ask if
they have graduate students who will counsel for free or for a reduced fee. These graduate counselors
are almost always supervised by a licensed counselor.
Churches Also, look up some area churches, call them, and ask if they have counseling. Sometimes
the church will only offer counseling to members, but many offer counseling to the community. Many
times you do not have to share their same beliefs and they often have excellent classes and/or
programs for relationship and individual improvement as well. Many churches do not charge anything,
but some may charge a small amount. These counselors are usually not licensed by the state, but some
churches do have licensed counselors. The church counselors may be certified in a particular type of
counseling and some are not.

Essay On Nutrition Before Exercise

The prominent macronutrient that needs to be utilized in the days and hours before

This can be done 2 4 hours before exercise by consuming between 5 10mL/kg/BW. In doing so, the
athlete should achieve a urine colour of pale yellow and give adequate time for excess fluid to be
excreted prior to exercise (Thomas et al., 2016). Further research from Sawka et al. (2007), suggests
that the individual should slowly drink ~5 7mL/kg/BW at least 4 hours before exercise begins. At 9am
the client drank 500ml of water, followed by a further 1000ml at 11am. Therefore, the client s total
fluid intake was 1500ml (~23mL/kg/BW) and would have been well hydrated before competition but
is significantly higher than the research advocates. This could possibly mean that the athlete was hyper
hydrated, which can potentially dilute and lower plasma sodium (Sawka et al., 2007). To inhibit this,
Murray (1987) recommends a 200ml drink which contains 50mmol/L of sodium between a 3 10%
concentration will increase fluid absorption in the small intestine.
During exercise
Dehydration of 1 2% of body weight onsets the compromise of physiologic function and negatively
influences performance, therefore athletes should maintain hydration at less than 2% body weight loss
(Casa et al., 2000). In this case, the client should aim to stay above 63.7kg to prevent a 2% body
weight fluid reduction. This is emphasised as Edwards et al. (2007) found that when fluid ingestion
was prohibited to football players, the total distance covered was reduced by 13 15% compared to

The Impact Of Oil On The Economy
History Of Oil In The Economy For a very long time, oil was widely used for things such as medicine,
lubricants and adhesives. However, A new era began when Edwin Drake successfully produced
commercially usable quantities of crude oil from a 69 foot well in Pennsylvania in 1859 (Parker,
2013). In the 19th century, oil became a key player in all industries, businesses, technology and
geopolitics (Hinsdale, 2014).
Oil has become the means of survival for both consumers and producers. Consequently, the
fluctuations in the price of oil have become one of the greatest concerns in the economy. According to
Branginskii, the market of energy carriers, primarily oil, are a great threat to world economy. Lack of

After being vertically and horizontally integrated, the organization decided to better the quality of its
oil by hiring scientists to increase economic efficiency and reliability. Although The Standard Oil
Company was not the only refinery at this point in time, it was a key player in the industry. Once a
degraded product, oil fuelled cars and planes: a necessity in World War 1. Wall explained how land
and oil was negotiated: the various oil strikes focused attention on a legal situation unique to the
United States. Land ownership carried with it rights to all subsoil minerals, termed the common law
right of capture. Oil companies, like other mineral companies, negotiated with each landowner for
drilling rights . Designated land had to be agreed upon, not just by landowners, but also by the
government. World War II made the oil industry a key American resource. Oil company research and
executive leadership played major roles in the conflict. Research increased the number of products
made from petroleum and natural gas, including the explosive Trinitrotoluene and artificial rubber. Oil
tankers supplied gasoline for the Allies at great risk from submarine attacks. The government rationed
gasoline and controlled prices during the war and ended the delusion that American supplies of crude
were unlimited. From this, the industry and the securing of oil became a top priority for both foreign
and domestic policy (Wall, 2014). Today, approximately 90% of

Censorship Filters The Media Within The World
Does censorship filter the media within the world? Censorship has followed the free expressions of
men and women like a shadow throughout history. Censorship is a way to filter the media in the world
by suppressing unacceptable viewings or hearings by not showing, bleeping out, and covering the
distasteful parts. In ancient societies, China for example, censorship was considered a logical tool for
regulating the political and moral life of the population. The term censor can be traced to the office of
censor established in Rome i 443 BC. In Rome, in the ancient Greek communities, the thought of
good governance included shaping the character of the people, although, censorship was regarded as a
righteous task. In China, the first censorship law was introduced in 300 AD. Censorship is a healthy
way of teaching the world, helps control the influx of information and ideas in society and compresses
the violence within the world.
Though freedom of speech is legal within the United States of America, all things said, shown, or
expressed are not always appropriate. In most cases, inappropriate speech and/or acts lead to illegal
acts or urge others to. For example, if someone witnesses a scene, is a part of a scene or hears about it,
most will want to converse about it or take part in it creating chaotic controversy. However, more
severe forms have led to people or groups such as the Ku Klux Klan being denied certain marching
permits or the Westboro Baptist Church being sued,

Once the assessment has been done, whatever it is that needs to be done to help the students improve
should be incorporated into the lesson. This does not mean that everyone will be on the same level
however, it does show the teacher is doing what he/she needs to in order to help the student. If
necessary as well, the teacher can separate students into small groups with each other and create
assessments this way as well. Assessments are reliable and, they can motivate students to want to
learn.

Outline Of Different Cultural Beliefs
For example, Buddhists believe their souls after death either are put back into the life cycle or they
reach Nirvana. This can convince a Buddhist family to find reassurance in knowing their loved one
has a chance of reaching a sacred place. The practices religions take on in the remembrance of their
loved one can also change the steps of grief. Most of the religions listed in An Outline of Different
Cultural Beliefs shows each religion has their own way of holding some type of ceremony where they
pray, sing, or tell stories of the deceased. In those same religions, family and friends also gather to
celebrate birthdays and holidays with or for the deceased. Holding these celebrations can cause the
family and friends to not feel the acceptance of their death and still feel anger, depression, or denial in
their heart. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In each culture there are right and wrong ways to express emotions. This is similar to how different
cultures greet each other. For example, in the United States it is very common to see a greeting
through a handshake, while in France they usually shake hands then kiss each other on each cheek.
Therefore, when looking at the rights and wrongs of expressing grief, it is just as diverse as greetings
from culture to culture ( Cultural Greetings 1). For instance, in areas of Britain, it is common to not
express one s anger. Instead, the person should keep all of their emotions hidden, but this can cause a
large build up of emotions, naturally causing a person to be stuck or take longer to get out of steps of
anger, fear, or depression. ( The Kübler Ross Grief Cycle

Pros And Cons Of Discrimination In Italy
Sometimes and this is something that go against the human rights is the discrimination, fans, well...
bad fans discriminate players. In Europe, most in Italy they discriminate the players that have a

Ghana but he was adopted by a Italy family so he have the nationality of Italy.
Discrimination, the discrimination should be sanctioned, but police and nobody do nothing to protect
the rights of this player, and this acts of discrimination occurs in everywhere, in all the stadiums of
Italy and in all stadiums of South America, this is something serious and that people have to become
aware.
Why? Because actually children suffered the same acts of discrimination, last year I was in a match
for the tournament of all the schools of Guayaquil and Samborondon and before our game, was a
match between a school that is for students of a lower class and a school of high class and the school
that was for high class and you expect that students of that school be educated, but no!, the students of
that school discriminate the other only for the color of the skin, and for being lower class than theirs,

Managing Multiple Generations in the Workplace
Managing Multiple Generations in the Workplace
Diversity is no new thing in the workplace. Many different factors account for this circumstance in the
business arena. Gender, race and ethnicity, and age are a few of the major factors that create diversity
within the workplace. The latter, age, is one of the more understated and disregarded issue of diversity.
But over time, differences in age in the workplace has been growing more and more, generating
conflicts that could not be ignored any longer. The problem of age gaps in the workplace is caused by
having multiple generations in one workplace. Most see the age gaps in the workplace as an inherent
thing and thus, not something to cope with instead of something to be dealt with. ... Show more

Analysis Of We Wear The Mask In Richard Cory
Ever since 1600s when William Shakespeare described the whole world as a stage and all the men and
women merely players , the idea of people wearing masks and hiding their true feelings has been
present in literature in one way or another. In the late 1800s, Paul Laurence Dunbar publishes We wear
the mask , a poem that focuses on people hiding their true feelings from others and everyone can
relate. Unlike Dunbar who talks about different kinds of emotional masks people use, Edwin
Arlington Robinson uses his Richard Cory to draw attention to a mask of money and success, which
makes the average people ( we people ) admire and idealize the successful person (Richard Cory) only
because we do not know and do not even try to see what is hidden behind the mask. In just 4 stanzas
and 16 lines, Edwin Arlington Robinson tells a meaningful and timeless story about misfortune of
Richard Cory, a person behind the mask of money and success who seemingly has everything anyone
could wish for. Robinson starts the first stanza with a description of Richard Cory s appearance and a
clear distinction between the two sides, Richard Cory and we people . The speaker mentions Richard
Cory in the first line without any introduction, which means that everyone should know who Richard
Cory was, so the introduction is not needed. Furthermore, whenever Richard would come to
downtown, we people of the pavement admired him. The people of the pavement or people from the
streets of the downtown,

the best part about Destiny are the raids. Perhaps the most challenging activity known to man, raids
can take anywhere from 1 7 hours, require 6 players, and require your utmost concentration and focus.
They have multiple bosses, puzzles and hidden chests that give you the best in game rewards. Overall,
Destiny 2 has stunning graphics, highly customizable characters, tons of content, and that sense of

Examples Of God In Night By Elie Wiesel
Tayson Neely
Ms. Scannell
English 2
10/2/17
God is a deity that in Elie wiesel s night, Elie Wiesel worshipped and in the novel those who
worshipped him stopped believing or just generally didn t believe. Before the holocaust and the
ghettos all started in the beginning of the novel all of the Jews had strong a faithful religion with their
God. Elie in the beginning had a very strong faithful religion. He studied the Jewish Oral Law and he
also studied Kabbalah. He started to have belief problems with his religion when they were moved
from the ghettos to their first camp Buna. When he arrived there and was there after awhile when he
saw some of things that were happening he started questioning why God would let what was
happening happen.
Later on in the novel two Jewish holidays pass Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. Rosh Hashanah is the
celebration of a new year and Yom Kippur is the Day of Atonement. During these two holidays all of
the Jews except Elie celebrated these holidays. While the rest of Jews were celebrating Elie was
questioning now if God even existed and if so whys he still allowing all of these deaths and poor
treatment of the Jewish people happen. Then at the end of the novel Elie didn t believe in him
anymore. All he could wonder was why would any God allowed so many deaths and cruel treatments
to happen. The view Adolf Hitler had on the Jewish peoples was that everything was their faults and
he hated them. Before Hitler became a Dictator he was a soldier just like everyone else in World War 1
and when the German Empire lost he was in disbelief and just couldn t believe it. Many nationalist
and conservatives believed that Germany had not lost the war on the battlefield but due to betrayal
from within, by a stab in the back . Socialists, communists and particularly Jews were blamed, even
though more than 100,000 German and Austrian Jews had served in the war and 12,000 had been
killed.
Hitler then joined NSDAP where he started to gain his power by becoming their strongman due too
being able to inspire people with his speeches. In his speeches he claimed Jews were not only
responsible for the unfair German defeat but were also blocking Germany s recovery. This kind of

Kevin Keller Character
Something many readers should keep in mind is that Kevin Keller is not a superhero. He is a part of a
family comic that showcases the struggles, entertainment, and life of a high school teenager. Many
readers can assume, that this character could probably cause some scandal with families. Those
families feeling as though letting their young ones read and be exposed to such material could corrupt
the minds of their children. What is interesting is Kevin Keller is a wonderful portrayal of all the
positiveness in a queer guy. He has no moral issues, does not abuse any kind of substances, and does
not sexualize himself to fit the stereotype of the queer community being too sexual . Readers can
assume this is why Kevin is still in the Archie comics ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

those lives that were lost that painful early Sunday morning. Love is Love A comic book anthology to
benefit the survivors of the Orlando Pulse shooting, was written by over 35 artist and writers from
across the globe to express their emotions for the loss that happened that day. Readers can come
across many different short stories in this heart filled book. Characters such as Batman, Wonder
Woman, Superman, the Green Lantern, and even the Harry Potter crew make a special appearance to
give back to those souls that are filled with love. Within in the book you also get stories from the
writers and artist of what they experienced during and after the Pulse shooting. With many of them
writing about how many have to continue to hope, many of them have lost hope, and how many of
them are very confused about everything. There seems to be a recurring outcome with all these stores.
Love. Love is love and love trumps hate. That is the hope many of these creators, artist, and writers
still have. That is the hope that many should still have. When these teams bring beloved comic book
heroes for help, its not a cry to be saved but a ray of sunshine that is placed upon many to not give up.

Similarities Between Lincoln And Julius Caesar
Betrayal in the political world prevails and has considerably changed the course of world history. Both
Julius Caesar and Abraham Lincoln, two of the most prominent leaders, experienced such betrayal.
Despite this, the lives of these two men share more remarkable similarities. Through an analysis of
their historical context, their unique similarities and differences will be portrayed.
. Born to an aristocratic family around 100 B.C, Gaius Julius Caesar made many contributions to
Roman history. Caesar possessed a charming personality and an intelligent mind. As a well educated
man, he served as a skilled and successful politician, lawyer, and military general, conquering much
land for the Roman Empire. This connection with politics and the military gained him support and
popularity among the plebeians. In 59 BC., Caesar was elected consul with the help of Crassus, a
wealthy patrician, and another general, Pompey. Later, these three men formed an alliance called the

His preparations during his reign fueled future achievements for the commoners. According to
Plutarch, Caesar made preparations to provide merchantmen a safe as well as an easy passage to
Rome...convert marshes about Pomentinum and Setia into a plain which many thousands of men could

Perhaps, the most providential effect he gave to the Roman people was tax alleviations and
realignment of the Roman calendar. These celebrated works won favor from the Roman plebeians,
however, filled the nobles of Rome with hate. Either envious of his fame or fear from his zealous
power, a group of conspirators ended his autocratic ways as the dictator. The main conspirators, Gaius
Cassius Longinus and Marcus Junius Brutus, assassinated Caesar in 44 BC with an artful

  • 2. Taming the Dragons Cummins: Licensing to Joint Venture Risks in Licensing To enter and explore the Chinese market, Cummins Inc. adopted a licensing strategic alliance in the early 1980s. It signed two license agreements initially; firstly with CQAEP and the other with DFM. There were various risks involved in using licensing, as control over the technology is weakened. There was also a problem in adequately protecting the licensed technology from unauthorised use by other parties. This led to rise in competition. Cummins Inc. was not able to penetrate the Chinese market with its new and advanced technological products as the licensees did not keep up with the technical improvements elsewhere in the world. This exposed Cummins Inc. to various reputational ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Wider access to the market. Cannot engage in direct business activities Agents No need of market study. Low costs (just commission) Dependency on agents. The company initially entered into the Chinese market through licensing. Having gained sufficient local knowledge, it wanted to capture further the growing market with a new strategy which would be a direct involvement for which it could consider exporting and agencies. These would not allow it to form strong customer relationships. Cummins Inc. could also consider opening a Representative Office or a R D Consortia but it wouldn t give them access to the Chinese market. Another option for it is to set up a wholly foreign owned enterprise which would require very high investments and intense market study. Finally, Sino US Joint Venture was the best option for them as it not only allowed them to enter the market fully but also to share the costs and risks with its Venture partner. Role of Vice President Steve Chapman, vice president (VP) of East and Southeast Asia (EA) Area Business Organizations (ABOs) for Cummins Inc. was suddenly given the responsibility of VP of International Business. • 3. Trends And Issues Of Non Profit Management Essay Sammy Sanchez ADMN 631 Trends and Issues in Non Profit Management Prof. Travis Hardmon Trinity Washington University 10/02/16 Abstract The challenge of nonprofit leadership can prove to be daunting for even the most optimistic of individuals. The nonprofit industry is and expanding revolution, a force said to influence national and global economies. Domestically, the nonprofit sector accounts for more than half of America s general hospitals, nearly half of its education institutions and most of its family service agencies (Rowe, 2013), opportunities created by economic and political failures. In the wake of rapid development, environmental pressures, economic impact, and growing challenges, nonprofits are being placed under a microscope, being pushed to take more strategic approaches to NPO management and to apply sound business principals. For a novice in nonprofit leadership, such as I, the endeavor of creating a sustainable organization in such a competitive environment can be intimidating. In the text, Introduction to Nonprofit Management, Rowe and Conway present the key theories of NPO management through case studies. The examination of these cases highlight managerial issues and trends that lead to the success and failures of many NPOs. This paper will analyze the areas of management most foundationally critical to the survival and growth of a start up nonprofit organization. Board selection, board governance, and leadership, are the steering wheel ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Classifying Countries Of The Modern World Classifying Countries of the Modern World The ocean is a vast pool with many different kinds of fish, no fish is exactly the same. You can say the same about the countries of the world, but the best way to put all these countries into groups is by judging whether they are developed or developing. Countries develop at their own pace and geographers use the stage of their development to categorize them. For example, take Japan and Ghana. Both countries are very different in almost every aspect of life, Japan is a developed country, and Ghana is a developing country. Ghana differs from Japan in population and its growth, as Ghana has a younger population and more difficulties in maintaining the health of their population. Ghana also differs from Japan in its land use and agriculture by having more subsistence farming, while Japan concentrates more on commercial farming. Developed countries, such as Japan, have older and more stable populations than developing countries. One of the statistics that helps define the growth of a population is the total fertility rate(TFR) which is the number of children born per woman. Japan has a very low TFR of 1.4 births per woman which shows that Japan s population is decreasing and will continue to decline because their TFR is well below replacement level. The replacement level fertility rate is 2.1 births per woman and would keep a population completely stable because it accounts for a man, a woman and a small percentage of people who don t ... • 5. Developments in the Study of Cryptography Essay Since the beginning of civilization, humans have needed a way to communicate in secret. Whether it be a letter to a lover or a set of orders for an army, it would be paramount for these messages to arrive unknown and untouched. However at some point, a person could easily apprehend the message; perhaps a spy or the letter bearer, nevertheless the chance of the message being compromised would be quite high. Thus one would have to change the message to appear as meaningless nonsense to those others than the intended recipient. This idea formed the basis of cryptography, the backbone of digital security. Cryptography is the study and practice of secure communications between two parties usually in the presence of a malicious entity, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus by only knowing what the cipher was, one would know what the original message was. Early ciphers were primitive and involved the manipulation of the characters in a message. A transposition and substitution cipher was very common in the classical age before computers. A transposition cipher involved merely arranging the letters in a message while a substitution cipher involved changing the letters in a message to a different one in the alphabet or to a symbol. Julius Ceasar used a form of substitution cipher in which he simply changed the letter to its respected position three spaces in front of it in the alphabet. As one can imagine, such a cipher was easy to break just from analyzing the ciphertext, and thus more complicated ciphers involving mathematical theory were created. However as the advancement of cryptography continued, so did its contrary field of cryptanalysis, the interpretation of protocols. This arrived at the discovery of frequency analysis; the process in which the repetition of certain characters in a language is greater than those of other characters. Thus the frequency of certain meaningless characters in a ciphertext would be higher than those of other ones. This meant that a new method of encrypting messages had to be invented as any cipher could be broken. This new method involved putting a private key ( a string of characters) into the cipher so that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This report will concentrate on two of the three major auto makers in North America. The third company has already filed chapter 11 in the bankruptcy court in New York, Chrysler LLC. At the onset of 2009 all three of the auto makers were in very poor financial positions; that is when the stimulus packages were introduced by the U.S. president Mr. Barrack Obama. Chrysler LLC was the first to accept the stimulus package with General Motors not far behind. Ford Motor Company still has not accepted any stimulus money from the U.S. Government. What is so different between General Motors and Ford that one had to get help from the government and the other did not? The differences in product and financial strategies along with listening to what the customers want could be some of the major differences between the two surviving companies. Porter s Five Forces Analysis Michael Porter identified five forces that influence an industry. These forces are: 1. Degree of rivalry, 2. Threat of substitutes, 3. Barriers to entry, 4. Bargaining power of customers, and 5. Bargaining power of suppliers. At least half of the world s population host H. pylori that causes various gastric pathological outcomes with some leading to gastric cancer. The infection by this bacterium has directly or indirectly caused an impact on economic and general well being of the people; hence, there is an urgent need to discover diagnostic markers that could be utilized for future development of diagnostic kits that are highly sensitive and specific. Here, we briefly review general aspects of H. pylori infection and the diagnostic biomarkers currently used in laboratory tests for the diagnosis of H. pylori infection with a focus on the role of microfluidic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Besides that, protein based diagnostic kits are also available in ELISA and latex agglutination test cards (20). Elisa Kits are the most specific and sensitive test for detection of H. pylori infection, however, these tests are expensive and time consuming. Another lab based serological method is immunoblotting. Immunoblotting is also performed as a lab based serological method. These assays detect anti H. Pylori antibodies in either fecal, whole blood, serum, or urine (20, 95 98). Most of the commercial antibody based tests for detecting H. pylori infection use bacterial lysate or partially purified bacterial antigens. Only a few recombinant antigen based tests have recently been introduced into the market. Due to higher sensitivity and specificity over a single antigen, most commercial diagnostic kits apply a mixture of antigenic extract (18 20, 29, 97). However, the names of antigens used in commercial kits are usually undisclosed (Table 2). The cost of diagnostics is also one of the important factors for developing rapid kits. To decrease the cost, several parameters should be considered: (1) minimal use of expensive reagents, (2) inexpensive manufacturing for mass production, (3) quality control, and (4) miniaturization. In addition, for clinical use of medical diagnostic devices in resource limited settings, environmental ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Analysis Of Nighthawks By Edward Hopper Nighthawks by Edward Hopper is one of my all time favorite paintings, and has been a painting I have enjoyed researching throughout my life because of how much I resonate with this painting. This is an astonishing painting, not only in the sense of it being beautiful art, but because this is a piece that is so significant and loved by so many people around the world. I would say that even if you have not ever seen the original painting, you have probably seen it reproduced in different ways in many different places. The world is bursting with all kinds of versions of this painting. All of these tributes are made because of how much this painting has resonated with the people who have seen it. The beautiful composition and the many well used elements in this painting have always intrigued and interested me. I think that Hopper created a piece that can truly resonate with so many different people. Edward Hopper expressed his love for art early in his life and was determined to make something out of himself in the field of art: Edward Hopper was born in Nyack, New York, a town located on the west side of the Hudson River, to a middle class family that encouraged his artistic abilities. After graduating from high school, he studied briefly at the Correspondence School of Illustrating in New York City (1899 1900), and then he enrolled in classes at the New York School of Art (1900 1906). While those descriptors were accurate, I no longer use them. Girl Scouting taught me that I, like every girl in my troop, had the potential to be more. Someone who does not understand girl scouting might not know the distinctions between daisies and brownies, or Cadettes and seniors other than the difference in the color of the uniforms. However, I distinctly remember the importance of the bridging ceremony when I became a Brownie. It was significant to me because I had seen the example which other Brownies before me had set and I was eager to leave the same impression on girls younger ... My project was only successful because of the contributions made by members of my team. However, being a leader of this team was challenging. I had intentionally made a team with a diverse group of people who could offer insightful perspectives. However, I did not anticipate how difficult it would be to loosen my grip on the creative control of the project. Before beginning the construction of the kits, I had a clear vision for the majority of the kits. Even though it was challenging for me to accept, this project taught me that being a leader is more than telling people what to do; it is about bringing people and ideas together while maintaining structure and organization. At the end of the day, I could not be happier with how the kits turned out since so many people on my team had such fantastic ideas. Additionally, after I learned to trust the capabilities of the people I was working with, I was able to be a better leader because I was in a position to make the entire project more efficient by talking to my peers rather than at them. There will be an increase in competition as more international clothing retailers enter Australian market, increase trend of online shopping supported by strong Australian dollars and also strong market positioning of major domestic retailers. This situation will make the industry become more attractive but also there is higher risk of failure if the industry players do not have strong market position in the end (IBISWorld, 2012). 1.2 Industry market segments Given the alignment of product segmentation towards women s clothing, women make up the majority of buyers in each key age demographic. • 12. The Creation Story Of Adam And Eve Analysis By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return . In The Creation Story of Adam and Eve , those are the words God tells Adam and Eve when they failed to obey God s only rule, not eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Throughout the story we follow their relationship with God, in the events that began with their creation and ended in their exile. Therefore, in my sole opinion based on The Creation of Adam and Eve , the story depicts Adam and Eve s relationship with God and the underlying meaning of their existence and the oedipal conflict that is portrayed. It suggests that maybe the story is a tale told in order to understand why we exist and our personal purpose as well as to recognize the effects of the authoritarian commands God expressed to Adam and Eve. The phrase existence precedes essence as told by Sartre means, we exist first and then we do things that define ourselves and live our lives in whatever way we choose. This is the case in, The Creation Story of Adam and Eve , when God created Adam from the dust of the ground and Eve from one of Adam s ribs. He brought them to life in the Garden of Eden, but it was up to them to create a purpose to exist. Therefore, Adam and Eve s actions of disobedience were perhaps a way of God testing humankind by showing them paradise (Garden of Eden) and what we were to lose if we d disobeyed him. God gave Adam a garden to take care of, animals to name, and a wife for companionship. And they both got banished from paradise for choosing to have the freedom of disobeying and as a result they have to be responsible for their actions. For instance, in the Existentialism Lecture , it says that from an existentialist point of view, We must choose what to do, where to go, and most importantly, what is meaningful to us and why. Both are novels that carry a lot of similarities, where the female characters are portrayed as invisible , servants and child carers . However, after reading carefully into the biographical work of both authors the critical difference I observed was that The Colour Purple is written by an African American woman who may have truly experienced the harshness of what she was writing about; on the other hand The Help by a white woman who had servants at an early age of her life, who would help her has enabled me to consider not only if the novel lacks authenticity but if Kathryn s reason to writing the novel was to catch the readers mind about such harsh conditions of to actually affect the audience with the physical and emotional abuse. Walker was born in 1944, Georgia, USA, a life rooted in the hardship of the racial terror and the wisdom of the African American life and culture of that time. On the other hand, Kathryn Stockett was born 1969, Jackson, Mississippi, USA, after the uproar of the civil rights movement; she is an English/Creative Writing graduate of the University of Alabama. • 14. Latino Population And Hispanic Population Currently within the United States one of the fastest growing minority population (Schwartz Scott, 2012) is the Latinos. In 2010 Census Bureau Brief ( Ennis, Rois Vargas, Albert, 2011) it stated how an estimated 15 million Latino individuals were living within the United States, which is approximately about 16% of the entire U.S. population. There is one big problem with addressing the Latino population, and that is the family patterns are either misrepresented or not properly understood, due to the label of Hispanic and Latinos being placed together. These two groups may share the same spoken language of Spanish and have similar cultural ancestry but the diversity among Hispanic and Latinos (Schwartz Scott, 2012) make generalizations about their lifestyles difficult. The term Hispanic came to be used in the 1970 s by government officials (cdc.gov, 2011) in trying to provide a diverse label on this population that had connections to speaking Spanish and the Spanish culture. • 15. Nurse Turnover And Nurse Retention Nurse Turnover and Nurse Retention Stephanie Williams NURS 411.01 Issues and Leadership in Nursing Delaware State University The nursing shortage in healthcare has been a highlighted issue for many years. With the ever growing health care system, hospitals and healthcare facilities often find themselves searching for ways to acquire new nurses and retain their very own. Throughout the years, the number one solution to this problem remains the same: decreasing nurse turnover, and increasing nurse retention. This paper discusses the causes of high nurse turnover rate, the negative effects on health care, and ways to improve the turnover rate. Before we can examine the consequences of high nurse turnover, we must examine the reasons nurses choose to leave their employer and look elsewhere for work. According to Hunt (2009), feeling overworked is the number one cause for nurse turnover in health care settings. Other reasons at the top of the list include, lack of support from employers and few opportunities for advancement. Due to the nursing shortage, staffing has been an issue in many healthcare facilities. As a result, units are consistently short staffed, causing nurses to feel overworked and unsupported by management. Cline (2004) highlighted nurse frustration when a participant in the study stated, When you re constantly short staffed and feel your managers aren t supporting you at least by saying, Thank you, I know you must ve had a hard ... At 9am, client 2110 ate oats with semi skimmed milk, followed by a yogurt, which equated to 40.3g of carbohydrates. A few hours later at 11am the client had noodles followed by a cereal bar which contained 35.3g of carbohydrates. Carbohydrate oxidation, gained from muscle glycogen utilization, specifically during the first hour of prolonged exercise, has been seen to increase with the ingestion of a rich carbohydrate meal 4 hours prior to exercise (Coyle et al., 1985). Land ownership carried with it rights to all subsoil minerals, termed the common law right of capture. Oil companies, like other mineral companies, negotiated with each landowner for drilling rights . Designated land had to be agreed upon, not just by landowners, but also by the government. World War II made the oil industry a key American resource. Oil company research and executive leadership played major roles in the conflict. Research increased the number of products made from petroleum and natural gas, including the explosive Trinitrotoluene and artificial rubber. Oil tankers supplied gasoline for the Allies at great risk from submarine attacks. Analysis Of We Wear The Mask In Richard Cory Ever since 1600s when William Shakespeare described the whole world as a stage and all the men and women merely players , the idea of people wearing masks and hiding their true feelings has been present in literature in one way or another. In the late 1800s, Paul Laurence Dunbar publishes We wear the mask , a poem that focuses on people hiding their true feelings from others and everyone can relate. Unlike Dunbar who talks about different kinds of emotional masks people use, Edwin Arlington Robinson uses his Richard Cory to draw attention to a mask of money and success, which makes the average people ( we people ) admire and idealize the successful person (Richard Cory) only because we do not know and do not even try to see what is hidden behind the mask. In just 4 stanzas and 16 lines, Edwin Arlington Robinson tells a meaningful and timeless story about misfortune of Richard Cory, a person behind the mask of money and success who seemingly has everything anyone could wish for. Robinson starts the first stanza with a description of Richard Cory s appearance and a clear distinction between the two sides, Richard Cory and we people . The speaker mentions Richard Cory in the first line without any introduction, which means that everyone should know who Richard Cory was, so the introduction is not needed. Before the holocaust and the ghettos all started in the beginning of the novel all of the Jews had strong a faithful religion with their God. Elie in the beginning had a very strong faithful religion. He studied the Jewish Oral Law and he also studied Kabbalah. He started to have belief problems with his religion when they were moved from the ghettos to their first camp Buna. When he arrived there and was there after awhile when he saw some of things that were happening he started questioning why God would let what was happening happen. Later on in the novel two Jewish holidays pass Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. Rosh Hashanah is the celebration of a new year and Yom Kippur is the Day of Atonement. During these two holidays all of the Jews except Elie celebrated these holidays. While the rest of Jews were celebrating Elie was questioning now if God even existed and if so whys he still allowing all of these deaths and poor treatment of the Jewish people happen. Then at the end of the novel Elie didn t believe in him anymore. All he could wonder was why would any God allowed so many deaths and cruel treatments to happen. The view Adolf Hitler had on the Jewish peoples was that everything was their faults and he hated them. Before Hitler became a Dictator he was a soldier just like everyone else in World War 1 and when the German Empire lost he was in disbelief and just couldn t believe it. Many nationalist and conservatives believed that Germany had not lost the war on the battlefield but due to betrayal from within, by a stab in the back .
