The Effect Of Light Intensity And Light Wavelength On...
Abstract
The effects of light intensity and light wavelength on photosynthesis was observed in two different
experiments and closer study of different pigments in spinach was observed. For the experiment
where the effects of light was observed, it was found that a light intensity of 30 cm, wavelengths of
blue and red lights show the greatest photosynthetic activity. The different pigments present is
spinach were also observed and it was noted that though chlorophyll is the most abundant in plants,
there are other pigments present as well.
Introduction: Photosynthesis can be defined as a solar powered process that removes atmospheric
carbon dioxide and transforms it into oxygen and carbohydrates (Harris Haller 2014).
Photosynthesis can be considered to be the most important biochemical process on Earth because it
helps plants to grow its roots, leaves, and fruits, and plants serve as autotrophs which are crucial to
the food chain on earth. Several factors determine the process of photosynthesis. Light is one these
factors and is the main subject of this experiment. The intensity of light is a property of light that is
important for photosynthesis to occur. Brighter light causes more light to touch the surface of the
plant which increases the rate of photosynthesis (Speer 1997). This is why there is a tendency of
higher rates of photosynthesis in climates with a lot of sunlight than areas that primarily do not get
as much sunlight. Light wavelength is also a property of

An Example Of Inference Control
1.
An example of inference control in a database is implementing inference control in a medical
records database by explicitly identifying information, individual attributes such as address and zip
code cannot identify individuals personally, each individual attribute alone does not provide
sufficient information to identify individuals. A combination of the individual attributes may
provide enough information to identify individuals forming an inference channel. An inference
control would block database user s access from obtaining queries that consists of all the attributes
that forms an inference channel.

Satellite Broadband Essay
In recent years the demand for high speed networking, driven mainly by the rapid expansion of the
Internet, has been growing at an exponential rate. While a wide range of wireline and wireless
solutions offering broadband connectivity are or will shortly be available, communication satellites
are beginning to emerge as an attractive solution in providing broadbandconnectivityto a variety of
users.
The wide area or global coverage of satellites enables service provision to a large number of
dispersed users and solve the expensive quot;last mile quot; issue without dedicating to each user
cable, fiber, switching equipment ports, etc. The broadcast nature of satellites supports efficiently
the transmission of the same message to a large ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A new generation of broadband satellite constellations promises to provide high speed Internet
connectivity to areas not served by optical fiber, cable or other high speed terrestrial connections.
However, using satellite links to supply high bandwidth has been difficult due to problems with
inefficient performance of the Internet s TCP/IP protocol suite over satellite. We describe an
architecture for improving the performance of TCP/IP protocols over heterogeneous network
environments, especially networks containing satellite links. The end to end connection is split into
segments, and the protocol on the satellite segment is optimized for the satellite link characteristics.
TCP congestion control mechanisms are maintained on each segment, with some coupling between
the segments to produce the effect of end to end TCP flow control. We have implemented this
design and present results showing that using such gateways can improve throughput for individual
connections by a large factor over paths containing a satellite link.
SAN ANTONIO (BUSINESS WIRE) April 24, 2000 The explosion of the Internet in the 1990s and
subsequent demand for high speed Internet connections has put an immense strain on terrestrial
communications networks.
Consequently, satellite broadband technology is now emerging as an important alternative to land
based services such as cable or DSL.

Effects Of Expenditure On Terrorism
Expenditure on Terrorism
The money that has been spent by the United States to counter terrorism is over exaggerated and
does not reflect value for money. No one can dispute that terrorism is a unique kind of threat and
it is evil. However, the money spent in this area is exaggerated in both official mind and the
public. The risk of death from a terrorist attack in the United States today is very minimal. The
danger in itself is remote with a low probability of happening. For instance, since 1970, only 3305
United States citizens have been killed by terrorism. If 9/11 fatalities are deducted from this figure,
the number drops to 397. Therefore, the ratio of being killed by terrorism is 1:110,000,000. In
2010, 3841 people died from drowning, 32,999 in car accidents, 2791 from malnutrition, 38,369
from suicide and 29 from lighting (Sherry 3). In the same year, only four deaths from terrorism
were reported by the government. The cases of terrorism are of lone wolf variety which America
has faced for years. Therefore, what is needed is to come up with tactics for dealing with the same
old problem. The whole issue of ISIS threat is overhyped, and it is usually a tactic used by the
government to justify its expenditure on counterterrorism.
War on Terror Strategy
To fight and suppress terrorism the United States should abandon their traditional approaches. The
war is not a real war but a war of ideologies. To win this war, the United States has to stop excessive
use of military

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Pedicle Screw Anchorage
The use of pedicle screw instrumentation in the spine has evolved over the last two decades. The
preliminary use of pedicle screws began in the lumbar spine. As surgeons became more comfortable
with the complex anatomy required for accurate screw placement, the use of pedicle
instrumentation has evolved to include their use in the thoracolumbar and thoracic spine. The
impetus behind their increased use is a result of the many advantages that pedicle screw anchorage
offers over traditional hook and rod constructs. Improved deformity correction and overall construct
rigidity are two important advantages of pedicle screw instrumentation due its 3 column control
over the spinal elements. First, pedicle screw instrumentation precludes the need to place
instrumentation within the spinal canal with its inherent risk of neurologic injury. Second, the
placement of pedicle... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Gangsta Culture And Cultural Resistance
For the longest time art has been a tool for expressing one s self, passion, anger, pain, grief, or
even resistance. Cultural resistance, as Stephen Duncombe claims, can provide a sort of free space
for developing ideas and practices (S. Duncombe 5). There have been multiple theorists trying to
identify what depicts a subcultural group as culturally resistant. Cultural resistance can take
different forms and can be expressed via different media depending on the subcultural group. Some
theorists also identify cultural resistance as a form of political resistance (p. 6). The Gangsta Culture

Art Movement After World War I
According to the Visual Art Encyclopedia, Surrealism sprang up in Paris and became rooted in
the avant garde art world. Surrealism was the fashionable art movement after World War I.
Surrealism is and the last major art movement to be associated with the Ecole de Paris. The writer
Andre Breton (1896 1966), nicknamed the Pope of Surrealism , was the movement s founder and
chief theorist. He introduced and defined the new style in his initial 1924 manifesto (Manifeste du
Surrealisme) and later in his painting bulletin (Surrealisme et la Peinture). Breton deplored the
radical and destructive character of Dada, nevertheless he built on many Dada ideas to create a
movement with a coherent though unbending philosophy. He aimed at nothing less than a total
conversion of the way people thought. Surrealism was less overtly political and advocated a more
positive philosophy. The main focus of the surrealism movement was literature but this rapidly
broadened to painting, sculpture and other forms of contemporary visual art. Surrealist strived to
bring forward the imagery of the unconscious mind. Surrealist philosophy believed that
nongovernmental and irrational art were preferable for life and civilization. Surrealism was
responsible for a host of incredibly innovative but strange art. Surrealism was meant to free the
unconscious mind from reason. Breton and other surrealists were strongly influenced by the
psychological work of Sigmund Freud The term Pop Art was first used by

Interpreting The Results And Remediation
Interpreting the results and remediation. After the vulnerability assessment has taken place it is
time to interpret the results of the scan. This is where the organization finds out what the
vulnerabilities of their network are. The vulnerabilities that were found in the process of the
assessment must be categorized, most vulnerabilityscanners will produce reports that will list and
categorize the threats that were found, this is also called threat modeling which we will get into in
the next section. Once these results are analyzed the next step is to start remediating the
vulnerabilities. Just like any other updates, the remediation of vulnerabilities should be scheduled,
change management is a very important part of an organizations IT... Show more content on

Once the scans are complete and the current vulnerabilities are patched it is a good idea to
implement a regular scanning schedule, once per month is an acceptable frequency to scan the
network for new vulnerabilities. Vulnerability assessment is a continuous cycle due do new
vulnerabilities being discovered every day, organizations must stay on top of their game if they
want their organization to remain secure. Figure 1 illustrates the continuous cycle of vulnerability
assessment.
Modeling and Determining Threats Threat modeling is a way to categorize threats using a
structured approach to address the threats with the most potential to do damage to a network. An
example of a threat model that is commonly used to rate threats is DREAD, this acronym stands
for Damage, Reproducibility, Exploitability, Affected users, and Discoverability. Each of these
categories is assessed a value from 0 10 with 0 being nothing and the being the most serious risk.
(OWASP, n.d.) An approach such as this will assist an organization in determining the importance
and priority of threats on their network. Another commonly used threat model is STRIDE, as seen
in Table 2. The following sections will walk through the entire process of threat modeling.
Identifying Assets To model threats, the organization will need to identify their assets. The assets
will typically be critical

other town characteristics. The closest gas station is sixteen miles away from Snow Lake and
the restaurant is twenty six miles away at the town of Elaine. To get any supplies other than
what is carried at a gas station Snow Lakers must travel fifty miles to Helena West Helena which

Another situation that shows the isolation of this area is described in the article when Judge
McElroy came into office and decided to venture all the way out to Snow Lake. As he drove into
the town he was immediately flagged down by a citizen and questioned, he was then instructed
to leave immediately. This type of action would not be anywhere close to normal in a city or any
sort of large town. It really could only happen at Snow Lake. Snow Lake is obviously very isolated
because of its distance from a larger town but it is also very isolated due to its geographic location.
Snow Lake is located in Desha County; however, Elaine, Marvell, and Helena West Helena are all a
part of Phillips County. This is because Snow Lake is in the North Eastern part of Desha County
that is cut off from the main portion by rivers. No bridges have been built to connect Snow Lake
to the main part of Desha County due to the few people that would benefit from the large cost and
effort. Instead, when Snow Lakers wish to visit central Desha County they must endure a two and a
half hour drive that covers over one hundred and thirty five miles and four different Arkansas
counties. The article says that while Judge McElroy does drive this distance he prefers to fly there
as it only takes twenty minutes and is one hundred miles shorter by air. Snow Lakers seldom must
drive this distance; however, some situations might require a visit to a courthouse or a revenue
office and driving the distance may

Summary Of Paul Farmer s Pathologies Of Power
Within this nine chapter, two part book, author Paul Farmer single handedly both analyzed, and
harshly critiqued the central and deeply rooted ideas of poverty throughout the world. In his
book, Pathologies of Power, he tackles the daunting and largely misunderstood topic of poverty to
reveal the ways in which the most basic right the right to survive is trampled in an age of great
affluence... (pg.6). Farmer, is both a professor of medical anthropology at Harvard, a doctor, and a
founding director of Partners in Health, which is a global health organization that is concentrated in
the most povertystricken areas to bring proper health care to those in need. These positions have
allowed him to travel to some of the most underdeveloped areas in the world, with the largest
portion of his time spent in Haiti. The experiences and observations that Farmer made in these
locations provided him with a foundation of first hand knowledge to come to the conclusion that

When Dishwashing Is Wrong
There are two reasons your glassware looks cloudy when you pull it out of the dishwasher. One is
film. Hard water, incomplete rinsing and high water temperatures can all contribute to filming. To
remove the film, simply soak your glasses in undiluted white vinegar for 15 minutes, rinse them off
and let them dry. Etching, however, also causes cloudy glassand is a much more dire problem.
Etching is actually tiny scratches and gouges in the glass. While filming deposits residue on the
surface of the glass, etching pits and damages the surface. There is no way to fix an etched glass or
remove the etching, Once the damage is done, it s permanent. Fortunately, there are ways to prevent
it.
Stop Rinsing
Does your significant other complain every time you drop a dish into the dishwasher without
rinsing it first? Good news they re wrong! People rinse dishes to remove any food debris before
the dishwasher s drying cycle bakes it on. It seems, however, that rinsing the dishes is actually
detrimental. Dishwasher detergent is designed to cut through food debris. When there is no food

12 Bar Blues Progression Essay
12 bar Blues progression is 12 measures long (I, IV, and V chords of a key). A bar is measuring
the music against its rhythm. A bar is a vertical line that is drawn through a musical staff. The
rhythm is usually one two three four. When you put stress on the two and four you get your blues
progression basic beat. Speeding up or slowing down this beat will set the tempo of the song. The
theme is in the first four line and then repeated in the fifth through eight lines. Then the closing four
bars have the original theme, but with improvisational endings adding up to twelve lines. This
gives you the 12 bar Blues progression.
In the introduction Armstrong starts with an improvise cornet solo over harmonium. On 0 14 the

In the notorious pro choice court case, Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court stated that the definition
of privacy is, broad enough to include a woman s decision whether or not to terminate her
pregnancy , and this right , the court believed, was founded upon the concept of personal liberty.
However, the aborting of children is not a liberty nor is it a duty that God has given to any of the
four jurisdictions of authority. On the contrary, God has given each jurisdiction the duty to defend
the life of the unborn. Life has always been properly considered, in the United States, as a God
given unalienable liberty that no man can take from the innocent. Tragically, in one hundred and

Wade. The court concluded that personal liberty, as the justices defined it in Roe v. Wade, is
founded in the Fourteenth Amendment s concept of personal liberty and restrictions upon state
action, as we feel it is, or, as the District Court determined, in the Ninth Amendment s reservation
of rights to the people, is broad enough to encompass a woman s decision whether or not to
terminate her pregnancy. The court goes further, to explain, The Constitution does not define
person in so many words. Section 1 of the Fourteenth Amendment contains three references to
person. The first, in defining citizens, speaks of persons born or naturalized in the United States.
The word also appears both in the Due Process Clause and in the Equal Protection Clause. Person
is used in other places in the Constitution... But in nearly all these instances, the use of the word is
such that it has application only postnatally. None indicates, with any assurance, that it has any
possible pre natal application. Personal liberty, as defined by the supreme court, is broad enough
to encompass a woman s decision whether or not to terminate her pregnancy , but it is no broad
enough to encompass a baby s right to life. Life and all other unalienable rights, the justices claim,
are only protected after birth. This philosophy of law is founded upon man centered truth.
Therefore, the court s definition of liberty promotes the self interest of the mother with no regard to
interest of the

Differences Between Freak The Mighty
The novel, Freak the Mighty, and the movie, The Mighty, have many things in common, but also
have several differences. The first similarity is that in both the text and movie, Max first puts
Freak on his shoulders at the fireworks. He does this because Freak complains that he can t see
anything, so Max picks him up without thinking and places his on his shoulders. As a result,
Max carries Freak around on his shoulders everywhere. Another common scene between both the
novel and the film is when Freak tells Max he ll get a bionic body. When the two reach the New
Testaments on a walk, Freak points to a building and says he s getting his measurements for a
bionic body. He swears he s telling the truth, but it turns out he wasn t Freak would instead die. One
final similarity is Loretta s inspirational quote, which brought Max back up from the... Show more

Max realized who this was in a scene only present in the book, when Kevin held up his crutch
and yelled, Identify yourself, human! . In the movie, Freak and Max first see each other over
the fence when Freak is playing with the ornithopter where they don t even interact, and finally
meet in gym class. Another difference was how Loretta Lee acted once Max and Freak returned
her wallet. In the book, she got angry and accused them of stealing it, but stopped yelling once
she inspected Max and saw how much he resembled Killer Kane. However, in the movie Loretta
thanked them and told them how nice young gentlemen they were, but was surprised realized
who Max was. Also, in the book Max is told Freak died at the hospital, by Dr. Spivak after Max
said that Freak told him he was getting a bionic body. Dr. Spivak then told him that Kevin knew
he would die at a young age. In the movie, Max races up to an ambulance and bangs on the doors
until Gwen comes out of the ambulance and tells him what Dr. Spivak told Max in the

The Injuries Of The Knee Joint
The knee joint is one of many synovial joints within the human body. It is the largest joint in the
body and is known as a ginglymus, or hinge, joint involving the articulation of the femur and the
tibia. A hinge joint is a joint between two or more articulating bones, moving in only one plane. The
movements that occur at the kneeare flexion and extension. The knee joint is a modified hinge joint,
therefore as well as allowing the movements of flexion and extension; the movements of internal
rotation and external rotation are possible. The knee joint has six degrees of freedom, moving in all
three planes: the frontal plane, the sagittal plane and the transverse plane. Internal rotation and
external rotation of the knee move about the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ligaments are connective tissues with the function of joining articulating bones at joints, in this
case, the femur and tibia. Fibroblasts are the cells that make up the ligaments, which are made up of
between 70% and 80% collagen. The high level of collagen gives the ligament tissue high tensile
strength. The flexibility of the ligaments comes from the elastin fibers that are in the extracellular
matrix, which counters the solid nature of the bone (Prater A.M., 2010). The ligaments of the knee
assist in controlling the movements that occur at the joint.
The collateral ligaments are positioned on each side of the joint (the medial collateral ligament on
the medial side and the lateral collateral ligament on the lateral side).
The cruciate ligaments are found deep within the knee joint. The anterior cruciate ligament attaches
to the medial and anterior aspect of the tibial plateau and on the lateral femoral condyle. The
posterior cruciate ligament attaches to the posterior aspect of the tibial plateau and the medial
femoral condyle (Johns Hopkins Sports Medicine). The names of the cruciate ligaments arise from
their nature of crossing over each other between each of their attachments and from the position of
their tibial attachments. (Palastanga Soames, 2012).
The interaction of the ACL and PCL at varying degrees of flexion accounts for some of the
dynamic stability of the knee joint (Chhabra et al. C.

Essay On Canarium
1.0 Introduction
Canarium schweinfurthii Engl. (Burseraceae) is a large tropical tree widely distributed in East,
Central, and West Africa. A mature tree reaches a height of 45 57 m with a straight cylindrical
bole up to 27 m with a trunk diameters of 1.2 to 1.5 m over a slight buttress root (Mbagwu et al.,
2008). The tree is cultivated for its fruits which are edible and produce oil which is harvested on a
large scale in West Africa. The oil from the resin is also used in perfumery and medicines due to its
lavender like smell. In Uganda, the resin from the tree is usually burnt to produce incense for
ceremonial purposes(Ssegawa and Kasenene, 2007). The stem and bark are used to treat coughs,
venereal diseases and exudates (Ngbede et al., ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So far, no work has been done on the use of Canarium oil.
The resin of Canarium contains a high percentage of essential oils with known antioxidant and
antifungal properties (Koudou et al., 2005; Obame et al., 2007). Therefore, we were interested if
the essential oil could be used as a protective agent against termites as well. Furthermore, location
and climatic conditions have an effect on the growth of a tree and its production of resin and
essential oils. Therefore we wanted to establish if the oil from Uganda contains the same
components as the oils obtained from other parts of Africa.
In this study, the chemical composition of the essential oil from the resin of Ugandan Canarium
was determined, and its anti termitic activity was established.
2. Experimental procedures
2.1 Plant materials
The resin of Canarium schweinfurthii was harvested from the bark of a mature tree in Sango bay
and stored in a freezer. Termites used in the assay were Macrotermes bellicosus as these have been
found to be the most destructive to wood and timber. Termites above the third instar were used.
2.2 Isolation of essential oils
The essential oil was obtained by steam distillation of the resin (50g) for 4 hours. The oil obtained
was dried over anhydrous sodium sulphate and kept in amber coloured bottles at 4 oC prior to
analysis.
2.3 GC MS analysis
The essential was analysed on an Agilent GC 6890N/MSD 5973B with a fused

PESTLE Analysis
A PESTLE analysis for Mydin must consider all the important external factors impacting on the
company. These factors may have political, economic, social and culture, technological, legal or
environmental dimensions. These forces, although out of the company s control, may have an
impact on the success of any future plans. By considering them, a company can change direction,
build contingencies, identify new opportunities or do nothing at all. It is an important part in the
strategic decision making.
Political analysis
The political analysis must include the impact of local and national government, and the
international situation. The Economic analysis needs to investigate the influences of the stock

Current trend indicate that customers have moved towards one stop and bulk shopping, which is
due to a variety of social changes. Mydin have, therefore, increased the amount of non food items
available for sale. Demographic changes such as the aging population, an increase in female
workers and a decline in home meal preparation mean that Mydin are also focusing on added value
products and services.
In addition, the focus is now towards; the own label share of the business mix, the supply chain
and other operational improvements, which can drive costs out of the business. National retailers
are increasingly reticent to take on new suppliers (Clarke, Bennison and Guy, 1994; Datamonitor
Report, 2003). The type of goods and services demanded by consumers is a function of their social
conditioning and their consequent attitudes and beliefs. One example of Mydin adapting its
product mix is to accommodate an increased demand for organic products.
Technological factors
Technological factors are usually easier to spot, because new technologies involve change, and
change is always noticed. For instance, online shopping has had a major impact on Mydin s
recent success. Conversely, The change created by technological advances often lead to legal
problems, which is why legal analysis is always an important part of a PESTLE analysis.

Manhood In Lady Macbeth
In the play Macbeth written by William Shakespeare, the reader can identify many themes that
correspond to the actions of the play, but one them stands out the most and this them would be
masculine vs feminine.
The person who portrays this theme the most would have to be Lady Macbeth, though she is
merely the woman of the house, she takes charge in many situations of the play and questions
Macbeth s manhood along the way. When you durst do it, then you were a man;and to be more
than what you were, you would be so much more the man () in this quote we see lady Macbeth
questioning Macbeth s manhood, asking him what kind of man he is and telling him he would be
more of a man if he would kill king Duncan. There are instances throughout the play

This week we learned about psychological disorders, what could be the cause of them, and how
we try to treat each one of the disorders. In truth, it is a hard task to discern which of the known
disorders that were covered in the chapters assigned for us to read this week would be more
difficult for me to live with. Depression could cause me to feel like everything I did would not
really amount to anything, deal with insomnia, and unable to find pleasure in my daily life.
Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) can result from a terrifying or shocking event; this could
result in me having to experience the ordeal over and over again at any given time, losing sleep,
and closing off the relationships I have with my friends and relatives.

and this promoted couples based HIV testing.
The couples were of ≥ 18 years of age. Besides this they were sexually active and were to
remain as a couple for at least one year. When the couples were being enrolled, the HIV negative
partners had never used PrEP before. They also had a normal renal function, were not pregnant or

Organizational Culture And Its Influence On The...
Introduction
When a system shows the employees of the organisation what the behaviours should and should not
be, shares values and assumptions, it is termed as organisational culture. These values determine the
behaviour of the employees and also have a great influence on the organisation s performance. In
1980, Peter Waterman s book In Search of Excellence made the term organisational culturepopular.
His book made the argument that organization s achievement could be ascribed to an organisational
culture that was unequivocal, client situated, enabling, and individuals arranged. From that point
forward, organisational culture has turned into the subject of various research studies, books, and
articles. As opposed to a point, for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, a culture that enables personnel to come to a decision could demonstrate greatly
impervious to a unified organisational strategy, hampering the leader s capability to authorize such
a configuration. In any case, a culture that maintains the organisational structure (and the other way
around) can be very effective (Mason Carpenter, Talya Bauer, Berrin Erdogan, 2014)
The study of organisational culture is important and significant because it helps shape right
decisions for the organisation and outlines the behavioural expectations from employees and also
helps them interact with each other. Organisational culture also helps individual employees, groups
and the organisation as a whole to manage the assigned work and tasks and meet deadlines. The
attitude of stake holders towards the organisation, the organisations ability to accept change and the
efficiency of work within the organisation is well understood with the study of organisational
culture (Kenneth Desson Joseph Clouthier, 2010)

ENC 1102 Dutchman Thematic Analysis
The phrase racial tension is a small description of the main theme in Dutchman by Amiri Baraka.
While race is a vital part of the underlying messages in the play, it stems to a much broader term. In
Dutchman Amiri Baraka attempts to grasp the attention of the African Americansociety. Baraka
uses Clay s character to show readers that complete assimilation into another culture is wrong. He
wants to awaken the African American men and women in a predominately Caucasian American
culture to subconsciously kill the person that is portrayed by Clay in the play. Not only does

through Lula insulted him and spoke badly about his mother clay still responded in an
apprehensive way. Lula s aggressiveness in her speech angers Clay to the point where he curses at
her, that is after she calls him an Uncle Tom Wooly Head. (Martin 62)(Kumar 276)
At the end of scene one Lula says You re a murderer, Clay, and you know it. (Baraka 2751)This
quote could be thought of as a subliminal way of saying that Clay killed the black man inside of
him. All throughout the first scene Lula has the more aggressive and dominant role, but in scene
two Clay takes on the more authoritative role, while Lula ends up being the actual murderer at
the end of the play. Lula s plot to kill Clay is in some way foreshadowed when the other
passengers board the train and she says we ll pretend that people cannot see you . (Baraka 2751)
Clay tries to defend himself all throughout the play but doesn t succeed because he can t defend
something that he is not. While Lula is insulting the stereotypes and behavior of black men, Clay
cannot fully defend them because he himself isn t truly black . (Klinkowitz 123 124)
Baraka used a sense of satire because instead of directly inputting his opinion about Clay he played
off of Lula s character,

The Literary Works That I Will Be Featuring
The two literary works that I will be featuring are a short story and novel; both set centuries apart
yet, connect with one another in linguistic principles. Both horror writers and with this genre,
semantics can be quite fascinating. Both King and Poe, focus on the various levels of semantics
horror and psychological. The semantic perspective of Christine are that of modern day slang,
teenage symbolism. With semantic idioms and jokes, you would see the humor behind the man
with the scary mask. Christine s characters are teenagers, besides the a little parental
irresponsibility, with these hormonal teens, plus Christine. Arnie and Dennis, were full of
idioms, such as, I just had this call to nature, or I gotta take a whiz! (King) Some commonly used
idioms were most directly, ones of love and anger. Arnie due to the possession or should I say
obsession of Christine, his vocabulary goes from chess club nerb to garage bralling bully. The
bully, Repperton was as rough and ignorant as they come and he spoke like it. Keep your jock on,
man or as Dennis put it, Eat me raw through a Flavor Straw! (King) These guys were the kings of
semantic idioms. The semantic perspective is about understanding meaning in words and their
sentence structure. Shifts in meaning changes, especially with slang words. The meaning of this
popular American English culture novel was a metaphorical teenage love triangle. For Poe, his
short story, The Tell Tale Heart would be dramatically

Evaluation Of A Prototype Model
A prototype can be defined as a representative example of a given category [1]. A prototype
model can be viewed as a rudimentary working model of a product or information system, used
to test or prove a concept or a process. A prototype of an Information System can be viewed as a
draft version of the system that allows stakeholders to explore system features and test the overall
system before dedicating resources for the development of the full scale system.
Prototyping is an iterative process. A high level view of the process allows us to identify the
following 4 steps that form the crux of the prototyping approach:
Figure 1: Prototype Design Process
1.Identify Content Based on the needs of the stakeholders, information is gathered about the
features that a system should possess.
2.Build Prototype Using the information, a prototype is then created to gain an understanding of
the system.
3.Review Prototype The prototype is reviewed for errors and flaws and suitability to the
stakeholders needs. If it does not align with the testing standards, the process is reiterated until a
satisfactory model is created.
4.Freeze Design Once all stakeholders and designers are satisfied, the prototype model is finalized
and no new changes are incorporated into the model.
1.1Prototyping in Business Analysis
A prototype is an original model, form or an instance that serves as a basis for other processes.

Understanding of Identity in Samuel P. Huntington s Clash...
The word identity inspired many writers in our contemporary world, toarticulate their ideas and

globalization has become a fact which produces with it many effectual consequences. Some writers
had linked Identity with the original cultureto which a person may belong, others dealt with it as a

the Identity from another angel in view of religious or ideological background. Huntington being
one of the leading writers in this sphere has imagined a future world witnesses a clash of

Chinese Government Structure and Court Cases
Comparison of the Gang of Four and Bo Xilai s case
The media has often referred to Bo s case as the most important case in Chinese history since the
Gang of Four case. In fact, there are various points of similarities between the two cases in terms
of their political importance. For instance, both cases related to political functionaries who had
fallen from grace, and tested the legal system s ability to secure a fair trial. Indeed, according to
Jerome A Cohen, the criminal justicesystem is perhaps the most telling indication of a government
s adherence to human rights standards.
A.Court of adjudication and the right to appeal
Independence of the judiciary is often limited in order to deal with political opposition in
authoritarian states. In this section we consider the powers and limitations of the courts that
adjudicated these two cases. Notably, both cases were decided by courts other than the regular
court with jurisdiction. In the Gang of Four case, the State in fact established an ad hoc court,
whereas Bo Xilai s case was adjudicated by a court other than the court of territorial jurisdiction.
This section discusses the reasons for reliance upon extra ordinary jurisdiction in both cases.

The Importance Of Juvenile Justice
I ve been struck by the upside down priorities of the juvenile system. We are willing to spend the
least amount of money to keep a kid at home, more to put him in a foster home and the most to
institutionalize him. (Marian Wright Edelman). Juvenile justice serves to be severely controversial
and unique with so many different scenarios and come abouts. In 2012, the Supreme Court ruled
that juveniles who committed murdercould not be sentenced to life prisondue to violation of the
Eighth Amendment s ban on cruel and unusual punishment. Justice Elena Kagan, spoke for the
majority, stating that mandatory life without parole for a juvenile exiles the surrounding

`` Hyperesthesia, Or, The Sensual Logic Of Late Capitalism ``
Often times, our senses can trigger memories that are hidden in the crevices throughout our brain.
The smell of fresh linen can activate a childhood memory of playing in the backyard while a parent
hangs wet laundry on a clothesline. The taste of gingerbread ice cream can awaken a memory of
visiting grandma s house. The sight of purple daisies can arouse a memory of attending a wedding
decorated with purple daisies. Senses stimulate our memories because according to cultural
anthropologist Constance Classen, senses themselves may each be linked with different trains of
associations (Classen 1997: 401). Because of this link, senses and memories have an interwoven
relationship. Furthermore, some consumer capitalists have exploited this interrelationship to profit
themselves.
In David Howes article, HYPERESTHESIA, or, The Sensual Logic of Late Capitalism, Howes
explains how capitalists today are focusing on multisensory marketing to fully evoke a sensual
experience when one walks into a store or passes by a product (Howes 2005: 298) . This way, the
shopper will be more alert and therefore, be more inclined to purchase goods. This phenomenon is
known as hyperesthesia, which is the heightened experience of senses. This experience fully
engulfs one s sight, smell, hearing, taste, or touch, which can cause an overwhelming yet
unforgettable sensation. Some critics have viewed this hypersensuality as an excessive notion to
seduce consumers into purchasing goods; however others

European Colonialism In Things Fall Apart By Chinua Achebe
Chinua Achebe s novel Things Fall Apart, and the reading African Challenge both look at the
consequences and benefits of European colonialism on the Igbo people and African culture. The
novel s main character is Okonkwo, who is the head the Umuofia clan, a Nigerian tribe. One of
Okonkwo s personal mission is to not be like his father, who he viewed as a coward and weak.
Okonkwo s accomplishes this mission by being obsessed with masculinity and viewing feminity in
a derogatory way. Okonkwo s hold over his clan is tested by the infusion of missionaries and along
with them colonialism into Nigeria. The African Challenge also talks about the European
missionaries and their mission to spread Christianity amongst the Igbo peopleand also about the
beliefs that both societies had about eachother. Through the incorporation of the Igbo language
throughout his novel, and the interactions of the Europeans with the Igbo people and their customs
presented in both the novel and African Challenge, we can see both the benefits and consequences
that European colonialism had on the Igbo society and African culture.
Both readings highlight how the Igbo people s insistence on sorcery and ancestral spirits leads to
conflict between the Europeans and the Igbo people. The first instance of conflict that arises in the
novel, is when a missionary to convert a village woman to Christianity, and accidentally kills an
ancestral spirit. This leads to the villagers burning the missionary s huts. The

The Importance Of Communication In The Military
Response to rebuttal number two.
It is evident Chris is attempting to make this personal, I will not join him in this fight, I am only
stating the facts and think it s silly to have to keep going back on forth on what is now frivolous,
however I will defend myself against these and any personal attacks.
My visa process had nothing to do with Chris s evaluation, my R R and his evaluation occurred in
the same time frame, however I had been watching.
Again, I m in the BDOC every day, I pull up a chair and sit with the operator for hours; however,
my presence doesn t always require me to interact with the customer (referring to the lower
enlisted soldiers in the BDOC), 99.99% of the time when I walk in the BDOC everyone is on the
computer watching movies, so they are oblivious to anything going on. I don t hang out with the ...

If another person has mail, and someone is already at the mailroom, we get there mail and take
it back to the BDOC, I have gotten the team mail, countless number of times, and they had done
the same, we were simply helping each other out. As far as water is concerned, I went to the
BDOC to get the gator, to get my own water. The water I wanted was on the other side of the fob,
but Chris had the gator. So the operator on shift asked me where the water was and asked Chris to
get the water since he already had the gator and would be on the side where the water was located.
There have never been any issue cover ups, I honestly have no idea what he is talking about, I
can only assume Chris is referring to the no warns that took place. Yes, we were vague with the
unit, first we didn t know what happened or why. And second, you never speculate or immediately
blame the equipment. I told them a number of times the issue was still being investigated and told
the operators to say the same, at the time that s all they needed to know and that s all we

Paul s Case by Willa Cather
Some say money changes you, some say money changes the people around and others say
money changes everyone. In Willa Cather s Paul s Case , Paul is a teenage misfit who lives in a
Pittsburgh neighborhood. The love of money is put on such a high pedestal that it consumes
Paul and the way which he lives. Everything he does is influenced by his desire for wealth. His
love for theater and art becomes an addiction and drive him to steal money and retreat to New
York. Here, Paul experiences the fast life as he dines and shops expensively. Paul then realizes
he is the victim of his own demise and takes his own life. Paul s obsession with theater, luxury
and the dystopian society he lives in are the reasons for his isolation and loss of life. Willa Cather
provides insights to how Paul wants to feel important in his life instead of being an outsider in
society. In his job, Paul works as an usher in Carnegie Hall. The narrator states, As the house filled,
he grew more and more vivacious and animated, and the color came to his cheeks and lips. It
was very much as though this were a great reception and Paul were the host. (Cather 13). The
narrator shows the reader how Paul feels more important as he helps people in the theater. It is as
if the sight of people filling the room and needing Paul s help breathes life into Paul. Author E.K.
Brown writes, He felt the pull of New York...to feel himself in the center of the plot of all dreams

The business is charged interest based on the amount overdrawn and the length of time
overdrawn, and are usually charged a regular fee for the use of the facility. An overdraft is
particularly useful when business has regular sales and purchases and is to finance temporary cash
shortages. They are a good backup to ensure business can pay its bills. An overdraft is not
supposed to be a permanent source of finance.

It allows business to make essential payments in case of cash shortages.

minimum of fuss.

large charges if you go over the agreed overdraft limit.

Prepaid Funeral Plans
A funeral is meant to give meaning to the life of a deceased individual. It acts as an opportunity for
loved ones to convene and remember the deceased while simultaneously providing one another with
comfort and support. Planning funerals is nothing short of an emotional process, one which
involves many legal and financial matters. By planning ahead of time with prepaid funeralplans,
you can plan the service exactly how you want it and pay for the entire service ahead of time,
saving your friends and family from the burden.
Prepaid funeral plans are appealing for a multitude of reasons. The first is that they are paid for in
advance, which means that families are not burdened with the cost or any decisions pertaining to
cost during their time of grief. Even if the services are not paid for entirely, money can be set aside
for funeral plans through a payable on death account which is opened in the name of the
beneficiary for your estate. This type of bank account is not subject to probate and will go directly
to the beneficiary upon death, enabling them to pay for the plans you have made. ... Show more

You can keep a written copy of your request in a safe deposit box or at home where your family
can access it upon death. You can contact different funeral directors in your local area to compare
the packages and prices ahead of time. You can also formally request information about the costs
of services in writing before you finalize your funeral plans. Staff can help you prepare documents
such as death certificates and obituaries. If you or your loved ones have cultural or religious
preferences you can discuss this ahead of time with the funeral directors and they will ensure you
have the appropriate clergy member for your

Introduction. Background Of Scotland’S Union With The Uk.
Introduction Background of Scotland s Union with The UK The debate on Scottish independence
has been going on for centuries, and has continued long after Scotland joined the United Kingdom
in 1707. Suspicion and mistrust between England and Scotland initially prevented a union
throughout the 17th century (Johnson, 2014). The Scots had feared that they would become
irrelevant within the UK, whereas the English felt that the Scots may take sides with France and
rekindle the Auld Alliance (Gallagher, 2016). With Brexit putting Scotland s access to the Single
market at risk, there has been an intensified push for a Scottish referendum. Delving into the
reasoning behind a pro independence stance allows us to gain an understanding of... Show more

Fiscal Stance Currently, England has been using Scottish oil reserves for its own benefit . As an
energy rich country with 24 billion barrels of oil to be extracted from the North Sea (Calder,
2013), Scotland has the potential to boost economic growth with a second oil boom of between
ВЈ6.9bn 7.9bn for the first year of separation (Johnson, 2016). Oil and Gas Reserves in the North
Sea could help Scotland gain it its economic independence (The Guardian, 2015) as the
anticipation of higher oil prices is expected to provide a lucrative source of tax revenues
(Keating, 2017). However, the falling revenues disclosed by the North Sea coincide with the
sinking oil prices (Keating, 2017) at the start of 2015, portraying the volatility of such
commodities, as tax revenues from North Sea oil and gas production tend to be unstable over time.
Therefore, an economy based largely on oil would be too subject to oil s price fluctuation (The
Guardian, 2015), leaving Scotland in a more vulnerable position than it already is in. Considering
that Scotland s fiscal stance is based on an uncertain commodity market and an ambiguous hope of
joining the EU, Sturgeon s belief that a shortfall would be compensated through additional
economic growth is questionable. Potential Benefits of Independence Currency Alternatives The
Scottish Independence debate has been

The National Incident Management System
Ever since the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Centers and the Pentagon, the
government took time in order to do an After Actions Review (AAR) on what occurred, what
caused it, what actions were taken, and what can be done in order to correct the mistakes that took
place? One of the issues that occurred was all of the agencies and private sectors failure to have a
plan/template to use in case of a crisis occurring. After the Gilmore Commission put out their report
on the lessons learned from September 11, 2001, in 2003, the government created the National
Incident Management Systemto facilitate this issue (Walsh, 2012, p.3 4). The National Incident
ManagementSystem is a systematic approach to a national template when dealing with incident
management. This is how incidents are managed across all agencies to ensure protection, response
time, mitigation of duties, and recovery (Walsh, 2012, p.4). In order to use the National Incident
management System effectively, you must use the five major components. These components are
used throughout government organizations, non government organizations, and private sectors.
The five major components consist of: (1) preparedness; (2) communications and information
management; (3) command and management; (4) ongoing management and maintenance; and (5)
resource management (Walsh, 2012, p. 6). The first component is preparedness, which requires that
the incident commander (IC) assess the situation, plan out the strategy,

  • 2. The Effect Of Light Intensity And Light Wavelength On... Abstract The effects of light intensity and light wavelength on photosynthesis was observed in two different experiments and closer study of different pigments in spinach was observed. For the experiment where the effects of light was observed, it was found that a light intensity of 30 cm, wavelengths of blue and red lights show the greatest photosynthetic activity. The different pigments present is spinach were also observed and it was noted that though chlorophyll is the most abundant in plants, there are other pigments present as well. Introduction: Photosynthesis can be defined as a solar powered process that removes atmospheric carbon dioxide and transforms it into oxygen and carbohydrates (Harris Haller 2014). Photosynthesis can be considered to be the most important biochemical process on Earth because it helps plants to grow its roots, leaves, and fruits, and plants serve as autotrophs which are crucial to the food chain on earth. Several factors determine the process of photosynthesis. Light is one these factors and is the main subject of this experiment. The intensity of light is a property of light that is important for photosynthesis to occur. Brighter light causes more light to touch the surface of the plant which increases the rate of photosynthesis (Speer 1997). This is why there is a tendency of higher rates of photosynthesis in climates with a lot of sunlight than areas that primarily do not get as much sunlight. Light wavelength is also a property of ... An example of inference control in a database is implementing inference control in a medical records database by explicitly identifying information, individual attributes such as address and zip code cannot identify individuals personally, each individual attribute alone does not provide sufficient information to identify individuals. A combination of the individual attributes may provide enough information to identify individuals forming an inference channel. An inference control would block database user s access from obtaining queries that consists of all the attributes that forms an inference channel. 2. • 4. Satellite Broadband Essay In recent years the demand for high speed networking, driven mainly by the rapid expansion of the Internet, has been growing at an exponential rate. While a wide range of wireline and wireless solutions offering broadband connectivity are or will shortly be available, communication satellites are beginning to emerge as an attractive solution in providing broadbandconnectivityto a variety of users. The wide area or global coverage of satellites enables service provision to a large number of dispersed users and solve the expensive quot;last mile quot; issue without dedicating to each user cable, fiber, switching equipment ports, etc. The broadcast nature of satellites supports efficiently the transmission of the same message to a large ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A new generation of broadband satellite constellations promises to provide high speed Internet connectivity to areas not served by optical fiber, cable or other high speed terrestrial connections. However, using satellite links to supply high bandwidth has been difficult due to problems with inefficient performance of the Internet s TCP/IP protocol suite over satellite. We describe an architecture for improving the performance of TCP/IP protocols over heterogeneous network environments, especially networks containing satellite links. The end to end connection is split into segments, and the protocol on the satellite segment is optimized for the satellite link characteristics. TCP congestion control mechanisms are maintained on each segment, with some coupling between the segments to produce the effect of end to end TCP flow control. We have implemented this design and present results showing that using such gateways can improve throughput for individual connections by a large factor over paths containing a satellite link. SAN ANTONIO (BUSINESS WIRE) April 24, 2000 The explosion of the Internet in the 1990s and subsequent demand for high speed Internet connections has put an immense strain on terrestrial communications networks. Consequently, satellite broadband technology is now emerging as an important alternative to land based services such as cable or DSL. According to strategic research conducted by Frost ... • 5. Effects Of Expenditure On Terrorism Expenditure on Terrorism The money that has been spent by the United States to counter terrorism is over exaggerated and does not reflect value for money. No one can dispute that terrorism is a unique kind of threat and it is evil. However, the money spent in this area is exaggerated in both official mind and the public. The risk of death from a terrorist attack in the United States today is very minimal. The danger in itself is remote with a low probability of happening. For instance, since 1970, only 3305 United States citizens have been killed by terrorism. If 9/11 fatalities are deducted from this figure, the number drops to 397. Therefore, the ratio of being killed by terrorism is 1:110,000,000. In 2010, 3841 people died from drowning, 32,999 in car accidents, 2791 from malnutrition, 38,369 from suicide and 29 from lighting (Sherry 3). In the same year, only four deaths from terrorism were reported by the government. The cases of terrorism are of lone wolf variety which America has faced for years. Therefore, what is needed is to come up with tactics for dealing with the same old problem. The whole issue of ISIS threat is overhyped, and it is usually a tactic used by the government to justify its expenditure on counterterrorism. War on Terror Strategy To fight and suppress terrorism the United States should abandon their traditional approaches. The war is not a real war but a war of ideologies. To win this war, the United States has to stop excessive use of military ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The preliminary use of pedicle screws began in the lumbar spine. As surgeons became more comfortable with the complex anatomy required for accurate screw placement, the use of pedicle instrumentation has evolved to include their use in the thoracolumbar and thoracic spine. The impetus behind their increased use is a result of the many advantages that pedicle screw anchorage offers over traditional hook and rod constructs. Improved deformity correction and overall construct rigidity are two important advantages of pedicle screw instrumentation due its 3 column control over the spinal elements. First, pedicle screw instrumentation precludes the need to place instrumentation within the spinal canal with its inherent risk of neurologic injury. Second, the placement of pedicle... Cultural resistance, as Stephen Duncombe claims, can provide a sort of free space for developing ideas and practices (S. Duncombe 5). There have been multiple theorists trying to identify what depicts a subcultural group as culturally resistant. Cultural resistance can take different forms and can be expressed via different media depending on the subcultural group. • 10. Art Movement After World War I According to the Visual Art Encyclopedia, Surrealism sprang up in Paris and became rooted in the avant garde art world. Surrealism was the fashionable art movement after World War I. Surrealism is and the last major art movement to be associated with the Ecole de Paris. The writer Andre Breton (1896 1966), nicknamed the Pope of Surrealism , was the movement s founder and chief theorist. He introduced and defined the new style in his initial 1924 manifesto (Manifeste du Surrealisme) and later in his painting bulletin (Surrealisme et la Peinture). Breton deplored the radical and destructive character of Dada, nevertheless he built on many Dada ideas to create a movement with a coherent though unbending philosophy. He aimed at nothing less than a total conversion of the way people thought. Surrealism was less overtly political and advocated a more positive philosophy. The main focus of the surrealism movement was literature but this rapidly broadened to painting, sculpture and other forms of contemporary visual art. Surrealist strived to bring forward the imagery of the unconscious mind. Surrealist philosophy believed that nongovernmental and irrational art were preferable for life and civilization. Surrealism was responsible for a host of incredibly innovative but strange art. Surrealism was meant to free the unconscious mind from reason. This is where the organization finds out what the vulnerabilities of their network are. The vulnerabilities that were found in the process of the assessment must be categorized, most vulnerabilityscanners will produce reports that will list and categorize the threats that were found, this is also called threat modeling which we will get into in the next section. Figure 1 illustrates the continuous cycle of vulnerability assessment. Modeling and Determining Threats Threat modeling is a way to categorize threats using a structured approach to address the threats with the most potential to do damage to a network. An example of a threat model that is commonly used to rate threats is DREAD, this acronym stands for Damage, Reproducibility, Exploitability, Affected users, and Discoverability. Each of these categories is assessed a value from 0 10 with 0 being nothing and the being the most serious risk. (OWASP, n.d.) An approach such as this will assist an organization in determining the importance and priority of threats on their network. Another commonly used threat model is STRIDE, as seen in Table 2. A bar is a vertical line that is drawn through a musical staff. The rhythm is usually one two three four. When you put stress on the two and four you get your blues progression basic beat. Ligaments are connective tissues with the function of joining articulating bones at joints, in this case, the femur and tibia. Fibroblasts are the cells that make up the ligaments, which are made up of between 70% and 80% collagen. The high level of collagen gives the ligament tissue high tensile strength. The flexibility of the ligaments comes from the elastin fibers that are in the extracellular matrix, which counters the solid nature of the bone (Prater A.M., 2010). The ligaments of the knee assist in controlling the movements that occur at the joint. The collateral ligaments are positioned on each side of the joint (the medial collateral ligament on the medial side and the lateral collateral ligament on the lateral side). The cruciate ligaments are found deep within the knee joint. The anterior cruciate ligament attaches to the medial and anterior aspect of the tibial plateau and on the lateral femoral condyle. The posterior cruciate ligament attaches to the posterior aspect of the tibial plateau and the medial femoral condyle (Johns Hopkins Sports Medicine). The names of the cruciate ligaments arise from their nature of crossing over each other between each of their attachments and from the position of their tibial attachments. (Palastanga Soames, 2012). Furthermore, location and climatic conditions have an effect on the growth of a tree and its production of resin and essential oils. Therefore we wanted to establish if the oil from Uganda contains the same components as the oils obtained from other parts of Africa. In this study, the chemical composition of the essential oil from the resin of Ugandan Canarium was determined, and its anti termitic activity was established. 2. Prototyping is an iterative process. A high level view of the process allows us to identify the following 4 steps that form the crux of the prototyping approach: Figure 1: Prototype Design Process 1.Identify Content Based on the needs of the stakeholders, information is gathered about the features that a system should possess. 2.Build Prototype Using the information, a prototype is then created to gain an understanding of the system. 3.Review Prototype The prototype is reviewed for errors and flaws and suitability to the stakeholders needs. The smell of fresh linen can activate a childhood memory of playing in the backyard while a parent hangs wet laundry on a clothesline. The taste of gingerbread ice cream can awaken a memory of visiting grandma s house. The sight of purple daisies can arouse a memory of attending a wedding decorated with purple daisies. Senses stimulate our memories because according to cultural anthropologist Constance Classen, senses themselves may each be linked with different trains of associations (Classen 1997: 401). Because of this link, senses and memories have an interwoven relationship. Furthermore, some consumer capitalists have exploited this interrelationship to profit themselves. In David Howes article, HYPERESTHESIA, or, The Sensual Logic of Late Capitalism, Howes explains how capitalists today are focusing on multisensory marketing to fully evoke a sensual experience when one walks into a store or passes by a product (Howes 2005: 298) . Some artists refuse to sign with a major record label because they want to do their music their own way and on their own terms and without the restrictions that come with working with a major label. Personally, I think that people signed to a Major Record Label have more access to larger resources and people with more experience working in the music industry and with that comes more success (because I m sure you have heard of all the people that I mentioned that belong to that label.) Before becoming a music star, Grande just like every other artist drew inspiration from other female vocalists. Ariana Grande has said she looked up to Imogen Heap, India Arie, Judy Garland, Brandy, but most importantly, Whitney Houston. She has said Whitney holds such a special place in my heart. • 45. Paul s Case by Willa Cather Some say money changes you, some say money changes the people around and others say money changes everyone. In Willa Cather s Paul s Case , Paul is a teenage misfit who lives in a Pittsburgh neighborhood. The love of money is put on such a high pedestal that it consumes Paul and the way which he lives. Everything he does is influenced by his desire for wealth. His love for theater and art becomes an addiction and drive him to steal money and retreat to New York. Here, Paul experiences the fast life as he dines and shops expensively. Paul then realizes he is the victim of his own demise and takes his own life. Paul s obsession with theater, luxury and the dystopian society he lives in are the reasons for his isolation and loss of life. Willa Cather provides insights to how Paul wants to feel important in his life instead of being an outsider in society. In his job, Paul works as an usher in Carnegie Hall. The narrator states, As the house filled, he grew more and more vivacious and animated, and the color came to his cheeks and lips. It was very much as though this were a great reception and Paul were the host. (Cather 13). The narrator shows the reader how Paul feels more important as he helps people in the theater. It is as if the sight of people filling the room and needing Paul s help breathes life into Paul. Author E.K. Brown writes, He felt the pull of New York...to feel himself in the center of the plot of all dreams ... (Brown 1). Brown uses this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Planning funerals is nothing short of an emotional process, one which involves many legal and financial matters. By planning ahead of time with prepaid funeralplans, you can plan the service exactly how you want it and pay for the entire service ahead of time, saving your friends and family from the burden. Prepaid funeral plans are appealing for a multitude of reasons. The first is that they are paid for in advance, which means that families are not burdened with the cost or any decisions pertaining to cost during their time of grief. • 49. Introduction. Background Of Scotland’S Union With The Uk. Introduction Background of Scotland s Union with The UK The debate on Scottish independence has been going on for centuries, and has continued long after Scotland joined the United Kingdom in 1707. Suspicion and mistrust between England and Scotland initially prevented a union throughout the 17th century (Johnson, 2014). The Scots had feared that they would become irrelevant within the UK, whereas the English felt that the Scots may take sides with France and rekindle the Auld Alliance (Gallagher, 2016). With Brexit putting Scotland s access to the Single market at risk, there has been an intensified push for a Scottish referendum. Fiscal Stance Currently, England has been using Scottish oil reserves for its own benefit . As an energy rich country with 24 billion barrels of oil to be extracted from the North Sea (Calder, 2013), Scotland has the potential to boost economic growth with a second oil boom of between ВЈ6.9bn 7.9bn for the first year of separation (Johnson, 2016). Oil and Gas Reserves in the North Sea could help Scotland gain it its economic independence (The Guardian, 2015) as the anticipation of higher oil prices is expected to provide a lucrative source of tax revenues (Keating, 2017). However, the falling revenues disclosed by the North Sea coincide with the sinking oil prices (Keating, 2017) at the start of 2015, portraying the volatility of such commodities, as tax revenues from North Sea oil and gas production tend to be unstable over time. Therefore, an economy based largely on oil would be too subject to oil s price fluctuation (The Guardian, 2015), leaving Scotland in a more vulnerable position than it already is in. Considering that Scotland s fiscal stance is based on an uncertain commodity market and an ambiguous hope of joining the EU, Sturgeon s belief that a shortfall would be compensated through additional economic growth is questionable. • 50. The National Incident Management System Ever since the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Centers and the Pentagon, the government took time in order to do an After Actions Review (AAR) on what occurred, what caused it, what actions were taken, and what can be done in order to correct the mistakes that took place? One of the issues that occurred was all of the agencies and private sectors failure to have a plan/template to use in case of a crisis occurring. After the Gilmore Commission put out their report on the lessons learned from September 11, 2001, in 2003, the government created the National Incident Management Systemto facilitate this issue (Walsh, 2012, p.3 4). The National Incident ManagementSystem is a systematic approach to a national template when dealing with incident management. This is how incidents are managed across all agencies to ensure protection, response time, mitigation of duties, and recovery (Walsh, 2012, p.4). In order to use the National Incident management System effectively, you must use the five major components. These components are used throughout government organizations, non government organizations, and private sectors. The five major components consist of: (1) preparedness; (2) communications and information management; (3) command and management; (4) ongoing management and maintenance; and (5) resource management (Walsh, 2012, p. 6). The first component is preparedness, which requires that the incident commander (IC) assess the situation, plan out the strategy, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
