The fact that this galaxy cluster was not identified by textit{ROSAT} as a cluster suggests that there
may be a hidden population of galaxy clusters hosting extreme central galaxies (i.e. starbursts and/or

From The Perspective Of Theorists Covered In The Course,
From the perspective of theorists covered in the course, critically evaluate the role educators can play
in counteracting dominant power through their practices.
French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu (1930 2002) was arguably the foremost sociologist of the twentieth
century (Rawolle Lingard, 2013). For Bourdieu, society was one in which, those who govern are
prisoners of a reassuring entourage of young, white, middle class technocrats who often know almost
nothing about the everyday lives of their fellow citizens and have no occasion to be reminded of their
ignorance (Bourdieu, 1999, p. 627).
Furthermore, Bourdieu argued that the education systems of the western world function in such a way
as to reproduce the class system and social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Recent statistics highlight the strong relationships between parental social class and educational
achievement at GCSE level, in addition to the likelihood of pupils eligible for free school meals to be
less successful at GCSE level and Level 3 qualifications than those not eligible (DfE, 2011; Lupton
Thompson, 2015; DfE, 2016a). Furthermore, the link between levels of social class and participation
in higher education is well documented, with those individuals from lower class backgrounds less
likely to access higher education (Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, 2015; DfE, 2016b;
Bathmaker, et al., 2013). Moreover, research conducted by the Social Mobility and Child Poverty
Commission (2013) found that 70% of people surveyed agreed that a good education was key to
getting a good job, yet almost half thought it remained unlikely for most children from lower income
families, with 65% of those surveyed regarding who you know as more important than what you know
. In short, the dominant power within an educational setting is held by those in higher social class
positions.
Before exploring the extent to which an educator can counteract the dominant power of the higher
classes, which reinforces and reproduces the class divide and inequality in higher education, it is
important to understand the work of Bourdieu, his influence on social theory and the key concepts

Applying Adult Learning Theory Through Character Analysis...
Abstract
This assignment explores the learning theories of Mezirow and Bandura through the character analysis
of Malcolm X, portrayed by actor Denzel Washington from the film Malcolm X . The focus is to
examine the theoretical perspective of adult learning theories transformative learning and that of social
learning and how they impact character learning and development.
Applying Adult Learning Theory through A character Analysis
The film Malcolm X, produced by Worth, written and directed by Lee (1992) portrays the life of civil
right s leader Malcolm X as he makes his transformational journey from street hustling, jail, and
imprisonment to later emerging as a leader for social change. While in prison, X becomes heavily ...

For example, experiences that would later serve as the foundation for transformative learning begins
to occur for Little, X s name at birth (Malcolm, 1992) when he begins his journey as a child. After
having lost his father to a tragic death, forcefully separated from his mother and siblings, and having
witnessed various injustices enacted against African Americans, he fostered a deep hatred for
European Americans (1992). Having been reared by foster parents who offered limited guidance, X
enters into a life of perpetual crime becoming a master mind of the streets. (Malcolm, 1992). Using his
knowledge to further his life of crime, he ultimately becomes a bi product of his environment (Worth
Lee, 1992). Consequently, his life style landed him in prison. These series of events put X in a position
for transformative learning to occur; however, before he entered into the transformative learning
developmental stage, he underwent another phase in his learning experience referred to by Bandura
(1986) as social learning.
While in prison, X encounters former leader of the Islam nation, Elijah Mohammed. Before embracing
the movement, X steadied Mohammed and his followers and soon became attracted to their
mannerisms, persona, and the hate message they proclaimed about the European American race. He
readily transformed to Islam and became a devoted practitioner. Through his newly

Doctor Ivanich s Flawed In The District Doctor
Physicians are Flawed Heroes: Vulnerable to Human Imperfections The Father of Modern Medicine,
William Osler, once stated The good physician treats the disease; the great physician treats the patient
who has the disease. Could a famous physician be vulnerable as well to a doctor patient relation?
Nobody is impeccable and every person has their unique tragic flaws. It is widely known that
computers calculate mathematical operations much faster than humans because they only have one
job, justly, if physicians were not distracted and focused on one mission only: to rehabilitate their
patient, the job would be completed much quicker and much more efficiently. The District Doctor ,
written by Ivan Turgenev, raises these moral issues to light, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

A physician must always do their best at improving the patient s welfare, which can be achieved
efficiently, if they hold all their feelings aside until the patient is fully rehabilitated. The relationship
found in the short story, between Aleksandra Andreyevna and Trifon Ivanich is unethical. Now...yes,
now I can tell you that I thank you with my whole heart...that you are kind and good that I love you!
(Turgenev 133). The affection of the doctor towards the patient might have influenced the final
outcome of her welfare, as it is stated in the story that Aleksandra only took medicine from the doctor
himself. Possibly the doctor gave her too little or too much medicine, the readers will never know, but
the conclusion is the same: the medication did not work. If the doctor was not in love, perhaps he
would have noticed that the prescriptions did not help and maybe he could have still saved the young
woman. Therefore, doctors are defenceless against human sentiments, in Ivan Turgenev s story, the
sentiment is love. This a huge blemish for doctors and physicians, because a patient s life is
endangered whenever a patient s treatment is interspersed with human

Essay On Whole Foods Market
Target Customers:
Whole foods Market targets people who are more interested in consuming high quality organic foods
and living a healthy lifestyle. They want natural and organic foods and are willing to pay higher prices
for that. They live in urban areas and are comparatively wealthy. Whole foods Market provides a lot of
options for them and a memorable consumer experience when they shop for food. It makes sure to
attract these people. In addition to this, to target average consumers it has introduced 365 everyday
value offering products at reduced prices.
Fairway targets all the urban class people. Though it does offer organic foods, it doesn t specialize in
that niche. It doesn t employ knowledgeable employees who can increase the sales of the organic
foods it offers.
Advertising:
Whole Foods Market advertises itself as America s Healthiest Store and has maintained that reputation
for several years now. It also launched its first multichannel National Brand campaign with the slogan
Values Matter to highlight the quality of their foods. To boost its advertising strategy, it collaborated
with GSD M and placed its products in TV shows like Modern Family and during the World Series
and NFL football too. In addition to this it runs ads in most of the Lifestyle, Food and Health
magazines (paper and online). Also, product samples are displayed throughout their stores.
Its social media strategy propagates across 6 different social platforms including Twitter, Facebook,

Questions For Interviews With Nursing And Non Nursing Leaders
Eastern New Mexico University N425LP Nursing Leadership Practicum Questions for Interviews
with nursing and non nursing leaders 1. How do you get others to accept your ideas?  In my opinion
the way to get other to accept your ideas is you have to be a person of integrity, this is the first and
foremost key to being able to have others accept your ideas. Once you have respect with others your
words will have meaning and people will accept your ideas, doesn t mean they may agree with them
but they can at least respect them. 2. Are you more effective in a group or a one on one basis?  In my
opinion the key to being an effective leader is knowing how to be effective in both, whether you are
working in a group or if you are working one on one. It takes different strategies to work in either
situation. My personal strength is working one on one; I am passionate about seeing others grow
beyond what they think they are cable of doing. There should be no greater joy then seeing someone
you have mentored or an employee you have coached move up in their career, that is the key to being
a good leader help others grow. 3. How would you go about getting cohesion among a team who
disagree?  In my opinion the first key to cohesion is a common goal for the team to be focused on, if
the team is focused on accomplishing the same goal and they can see it in front them cohesion will
begin to happen. The other key weather a small or large team is making sure every person knows they

The Recognition Of Indian And Transgender Identity Essay
The Recognition of Indian and Transgender Identity There are various groups throughout the United
State and globally that continue to be treated as though they are not who they say they are. Indian and
transgender individuals, while very different, face similar identity issues. Both groups have faced and
continue to face issues regarding their identity and whether or not they can be legally recognized for
who they are. Indian tribes such as the Navajo have blood quantum laws preventing anyone with less
than a quarter Navajo blood from registering with their tribe. This means that they are unable to be
legally recognized as an Indian, despite having Indian ancestors. In comparison, the transgender
community is facing legal issues with a new bill in North Carolina and Mississippi that requires them
to use the bathroom of the gender they were born into. In addition to this, it takes away legal
protection for people who identify as LGBT, allowing for legal discrimination. The percent of people
who identify as transgender is 0.3% in the United States as of 2011. (How Many People Are Lesbian,
Gay, Bisexual and Transgender?). The percent of Indians in the United States as of 2013 is two
percent, or 5.2 million (Facts for Features: American Indian and Alaska Native Heritage Month:
November 2014). The misrepresentation Indians and Transgender communities face within the United
States is a controversial issue, one that can be seen in the news, novels, and more. For centuries,

Individual Retirement Accounts Case Summary
Individual retirement accounts (IRAs) have become a dominant retirement vehicle in the US. As a
result, the IRA has become a major asset class that stands out in the estates of many high net worth
individuals. For those with outside funds who are drawing only the required minimum distributions
(RMDs), the IRA can be a great asset to pass on to the next generation. Younger heirs will have the
ability to stretch out the tax deferred status of IRA assets by taking out distributions over a long period
of time. Additional wealth can be transferred through the tax deferred growth in these assets.
Unfortunately, the ability to stretch out distributions is not automatic and the rules are more complex
than most people realize. One wrong move could ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first option again is for the heir to take annual installments over the beneficiary s life expectancy,
the stretch method. The second option does not include a five year rule. Instead, the heir can continue
the original distribution schedule using what would have been the age and life expectancy of the
deceased owner. The IRS states that the second method is the default method if the beneficiary does
not make a selection or the IRA custodian does not name the other method as the default. As
previously mentioned this is also the default if the estate is named as

Balance score card paper
Analysis paper on Phillips Electronic Balance Scorecard
What is a Balance Scorecard? A Balanced scorecard is a strategic planning and management system
that is used extensively in business and industry, government, and nonprofit organizations worldwide
to align business activities to the vision and strategy of the organization, improve internal and external
communications, and monitor organization performance against strategic goals. It was originated by
Drs. Robert Kaplan Harvard Business School and David Norton as a performance measurement

This communication prevents employees from repeating fellow employees mistakes, saving time and
money. Philips has realized significant benefits due to implementing a worldwide scorecard system.
Employees embrace and use the scorecard to improve results. Management uses the scorecard to
communicate strategy and align employees with strategy. The scorecard is also used at all levels of the
organization. Philips has implemented a balanced scorecard and succeeded in focusing the company
on a diverse set of business measures (Hudson, 2004).
Disadvantage of Balance Scorecard
Because the balanced scorecard looks at the affect on the whole, the performance and encouragement
of the individual can be lost. The scorecard can be misrepresented and used as an employee
monitoring tool rather than as a company performance tool. Finally, the large number of variables
taken into consideration to form a viable scorecard can be cumbersome and result in a job unto itself
(Price Watson, 2013). Some issues that Phillips Electronics faces were software for use in capturing
and transferring data to a BSC in real time should be selected carefully and researched fully prior to
implementing the balanced scorecard. A balance scorecard must be reached to maintain visibility for
employee access while maintaining confidentiality of company results that are sensitive and
proprietary. In trying to determine employee level performance indicators, the company learned that

had one specific goal when he made his movies and television shows, which was to make people
happy. He did not focus on the money or the fame, all that mattered to him was seeing that his movies
were positively effecting his viewers lives.(Brown) He began using the money he made while making

The Evolution of the Invisible Man in Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison
In everyone s life, there are growing experiences. People evolve not only physically as they get older
but also ideologically. Perhaps they might become wiser or shrug off the trendy doctrines that may
have tried to shape their destiny long ago. Ralph Ellison illustrates this struggle of change in Invisible
Man. The novel begins with a naïve young, black man in the South caught under the evil boot of
racism. As the novel progresses, the reader sees that the ideas portrayed in the novel evolve from
inherently pro communism to anti communism by the ending. Although appears solely as a diatribe

It was a hundred dollar bill.(Ellison 68).
This symbolizes how Norton is exploiting Trueblood. It is a protest against the exploitation of the
worker which is a very communist idea. In order to almost live the experience of perhaps committing
incest against his own daughter, Norton exploits Trueblood. In communist ideology, Norton would
perhaps embody the evil, corrupt capitalist taking advantage of the working class.
However, Norton is not the total capitalist that he perhaps embodies. After Ivan drops him off at his
rooms on the campus, Norton defends the narrator against Dr. Bledsoe s attacks. Dr. Bledsoe,
however, has his own designs, and even though he may appear as a friend of the worker, Bledsoe is
the true capitalist robber baron.
But I ve made my place in it and I ll have every Negro in the country hanging on tree limbs if it means
staying where I am. (Ellison 141). Bledsoe states that he will not stop at anything to assert his own
supremacy, even if it means stomping on his own race and setting back his people s cause for ages. He
believes himself to be the manifest of all authority and considers himself supreme over everyone.
Even though Bledsoe appears at first to be a servile man, he is deep inside an insidious plotter and has
designs on subverting the entire establishment for his own ends. He intends to exploit his society and
the common people, which is something communism is against. At

Computer Science And Its First Leap Out Of Mathematics
In the beginning, there was Math; and for a long time after there was only Math. Computer Science is
a relatively new field compared to others such as Math, Communication, Philosophy, etc. Computer
Science could be boiled down to The study of how to compute . In this way of looking at the field, you
can see how it originated from people s desires to compute faster and more complex problems. This
desire led us to the abacus, mechanical calculators, and eventually to the computer. Computer science
today is the theory, design and application of computers. Today computer scientists care about more
than just solving complex math problems. They care about solving complex global problems like
curing disease, identity fraud, and getting people to Mars. World War 2 is where the field of Computer
Science made its first leap out of the shadows of Mathematics. It was thanks to the military need to
safely test new weapons of mass destruction with the use of computer simulations that computers got
their first push. The military s desire to encrypt information that a team of humans could not decipher
in a reasonable amount of time also helped give rise to machines that could do more complex work
than a single human and complete them in faster times than a team of humans. It was various world
governments looking to save man power and resources that lead to the shift toward machines, that
would one day be computers, working for us. As important as World War II was for the birth of

A. Michael Oher is a complex character, this is mostly due to the fact that he speaks very little, and so
in order to understand him better we must look at his actions. In the movie After watching the movie
The Blind Side it is easy for one to see that at the beginning of the film Michael struggles with internal
conflict, specifically about school and his living arrangement with the Touy family. The first time we
see Michael really open up about his internal conflicts is when we hear his poem entitled White Walls

who have more or less opportunities than others. Michael comes from a different culture than the Touy

standard of education. The Touy s on the other hand live in what can be considered the wealthy part of
town, they live in a big home and the children attend a high class private school. To each of them the
way they live is their cultural norm, but to the other it s unconventional. Michael was raised at a
disadvantage compared to the Touy s because of the culture he grew up in. One key moment we find
out the Michael has a clear disadvantage is when we find out that all of his past teachers have just

cultural background as the Touy s, or even just gone to better school s there would have been someone

multiples business sectors such as advertising, Android operating system and YouTube video

Google AdWords is an online advertising program for companies and advertisers to reach new
customers. Google allows companies to bid on the placement of an advertisement and keywords
associated with company websites. As individuals search words or phrases related to a business, the
company s advertisement or website will appear on Google. Google generates revenues on a cost per

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. s Heading The Call
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a leader well known for his bravery wanted equality between people of all
races. In the passage Heading the Call , Diana Childress writes about his experiences when he was
young. These experiences shaped his beliefs and actions as an adult. King learned about racial
inequality when two sons of a white neighborhood storekeeper stopped playing with him. Whether the
father of the two didn t want them to play with him or the two boys were influenced by the events
around them is not known. Either way King knew this was wrong. His mother was never too subtle
when she explained racial discrimination, but always reminded him that he was as good as anyone .
King also experienced a similar problem when he was in high school. After winning first prize in a
speech contest, he represented his school at a statewide competition. As he returned home to Atlanta
he and his teacher were forced to give up their seats to white passengers and remained seat less for 90
miles. King said he had never been so angry in his life. In the future he would make the choice to
return to the south and fight for what was right. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Out Of The Frying Pan, Into The Fire
Out of the Frying Pan, Into the Fire Lance Gehrke University of Maryland University College Out of
the Frying Pan, Into the Fire On the flight from Boise, Idaho to Syracuse, New York I kept thinking to
myself, This is just a new chapter. This is just a new chapter in my life. I was on my way to my next
duty assignment, the 10th Mountain Division stationed at Fort Drum, New York. I was filled with
dread from all the bad things people said about this duty station like, Be ready for the 8 month winters
and Get ready to deploy a lot. It was a very scary time for me. I was told these comments when I was
at my last duty station in Okinawa, Japan. I thought about them the entire time from the moment I got
my orders to the moment I hopped on that plane to get there. After finding my seat, I was hit with the
full idea of what I was about to experience. As I was stepping off of the plane into the lobby, I was hit
with what part of my new experience was going to be like; bitter cold. It was only the beginning of
April and it was still colder than any other part of the United States. As I walked into the airplane
lobby and waited to grab my bags, I saw a room at the end of the terminal labeled USO . All around
me were other people from flights that just landed. A few, I could tell, were in the military; judging by
their close kempt haircuts and confident statures. After grabbing my bags off of the carousel, I walked

An Actor Prepares By Constantin Stanislavski
All I can do is to help you feel what it is. Even to do that requires great patience, for I shall devote our
whole course to it. Or, to be more exact, it will appear by itself after you have studied our whole
system of acting and after you yourselves have made the experiment of initiating, clarifying,
transforming, simple everyday human realities into crystals of artistic truth. Teacher Mr. Tortsov,
teaches his students the fundaments in acting and how to be successful in its art, in Constantin
Stanislavski s eye opening book, An Actor Prepares. Throughout reading his book, I learned three
main lessons: how the outside impression of an actor looks or how the audience perceives them, the
inner motivation and structure of an actor, and lastly, acting is an art and properly portraying a
character through the art form. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An Actor Prepares teaches an actor that everything needs to be justified and motivated. Whether that
be through analyzing the text for overall theme, adaption to responses done by our scene partners or
ensemble, being natural with movements and not mechanical, or working out the overall objective of
the play. Analyzing the text of the play influences the character s motivation. If a character is going
over to another character s house for no reason other than to hang out, then it slows down the pace of
the show down and puts a stop in the energy of the show. Channeling the normal person inside myself,
provides a more relatable character to the audience member. The overall objective of the show
provides a reason or lesson for the whole play. The sooner I, as an actor, understand and determine the
objective, I can better play the character s motivation and drive to what she

during your initial consultation.
Immediate vs. Delayed Breast Reconstruction Surgery Near Brickell
You may be given the option to begin your breast reconstruction regimen during the same surgical
session as your mastectomy. The benefit of immediate breast reconstruction surgery is that the breast
skin is typically preserved, which usually produces nicer results. In addition, women wake up after
their mastectomy with a breast mound. Although the first step of a breast reconstruction is often the
most substantial, numerous steps are necessary to attain the final breast shape.
Delayed breast reconstruction begins at some point after the mastectomy. A delayed reconstruction
may be a better option for some women.
A woman may choose to delay her reconstruction procedure if:
She does not want to deal with having breast reconstruction surgery while she copes with treating the
breast cancer. She has other health problems and issues that need to be addressed prior to her
reconstruction. For example, if she smokes, she needs to stop smoking no less than 2 months before
her breast reconstruction surgery. Smoking inhibits the body s ability to heal itself. She needs to have
radiation therapy. Radiation can cause

Spinach Chromatography
The purpose of this experiment was to learn about the analytical method known as chromatography
which allows the separation of a mixture into its molecular components. In order to illustrate this
technique the pigments found in the leaves of spinach were separated by means of thin layer
chromatography (TLC). All chromatographic techniques have one principle in common; a liquid or
gaseous solution of sample, called the moving phase, is passed (moved) through an adsorbent, called a
stationary phase. With TLC the adsorbent of choice was one of the most common coatings, silica gel,
SiO2. This compound is polar, and therefore, is frequently used in the separation of polar substances
such as aldehydes, ketones, amines and carboxylic acids. On the other hand, a mixture of nonpolar
solvents (petroleum ether and cyclohexane) was used as the solvent. ... Show more content on

The pigments of fresh, frozen and canned spinach were extracted by grinding the mixture until
observing a powder looking appearance. The sand was used to destroy the cell walls of spinach and
free the pigments while any traces of water were being removed by the drying agent (MgSO4).
Following this, the mixtures were transferred to three labeled test tubes in which 2.0 mL of acetone
were added to each. The acetone washes the photopigments from the cells and cytoplasm. In this
manner, using a fixed speed vortex mixer, the mixture was shaken vigorously for 10 minutes. Upon
completion of mixing, the frozen and canned spinach displayed three distinctive layers, the bottom
layer containing sediments, the middle layer, a cloudy solution, and the top layer a homogeneous
green liquid. The ideal separation will have excluded the middle layer, which was a result of traces of
water present in the

3D printing technology was start in the mid 1990s, this technology construct the real object from a
digital model from computer, layer by layer using certain material in powered state. In the past, this
technology is applied in mold manufacturing, and nowadays, it is being used in direct manufacturing.
With the improvement of this technology, more and more items can be done through 3D printing.
However, the potential of the 3D printing is far more than DIY small household items. In March of
2013, a Chinese firm has claimed to have done 3d printing of ten houses within 24 hours. Two years

Bob Marley Research Paper
Bob Marley is without a doubt one of the most inspirational songwriters the world has ever known.
Contrary to popular belief, most of Marley s writings were not ganja anthems, but hopeful songs about
redemption, social injustice, spiritual strength, and perseverance in the face of seemingly impossible
odds. Included here are my selections or Bob Marley s 10 most inspirational songs.
Number One: Zion Train ( Uprising ) 1980. Featured on Marley s 1981 album Uprising, every note of
this tune inspires. It is a song in which Marley s philosophic aphorisms ( Don t gain the world and lose
your soul / Wisdom is better than silver and gold ) are as impactful as the most simplistic, commonly

While Get Up, Stand Up is the most obvious choice from this album, that song was written by Peter
Tosh. On Duppy Conqueror, Bob, Peter and Bunny go ghost busting ( duppy means evil spirit). An
early Lee Scratch Perry production, Duppy Conqueror is a classic tune about good over evil ( Don t
try to cut me off on this bridge now / I ve got to reach Mt. Zion (the highest region) / So if you a
bullbucka (bad spirit), let me tell you this / I m a duppy conqueror! ).Number Eight: Trenchtown Rock
( Live! ) 1975. Trenchtown Rock is quite possibly the greatest ghetto anthem ever penned. It is a song
in which Marley recasts the ghetto experience from one of shame to one of pride ( Trenchtown rock /
Don t turn your back / Trenchtown rock / I say give the slum a try / Trenchtown rock / Never let the
children cry / Trenchtown rock or you got to tell Jah, Jah why ).Number Nine: The Heathen ( Exodus )
1977. Yet another Marley tune pitting good against evil, The Heathen is a rousing call to arms for the
righteous to take up arms against the wicked ( Rise up fallen fighters / Rise and take your stance again

Iago and Angelo as the Hypocrites of Shakespeare s Othello
Few plot elements inspire such an emotional reaction in readers as does hypocrisy. Not only do
readers feel genuine anger at the actions of the hypocritical character, but they also feel deep sympathy
for the Hester Prynnes of the stories they read. This tandem of anger and sympathy is a powerful tool
for an author to use to draw readers into his or her tale, because creating an emotional response in one
s audience is the best way to make them identify with the story. The response of the readers to these
situations is a fascinating one. Perhaps the reader remembers a time when s/he was the victim of a two
faced action. Perhaps stories about hypocrisy evoke a sense of moral outrage or awaken a sense of
justice in the reader. Perhaps the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Othello has chosen Michael Cassio as his lieutenant, leaving Iago in a lower duty. This bit of history,
disguised as background information the story, is really the crux of the whole play, arriving all of the
action in the five acts to come. It is superficially important to the story in that it drives Iago s future
actions. However, it is fundamentally important to the idea of hypocrisy because it is the main
hypocritical premise on which he acts. Simply put, Iago is upset because he has been passed over for
military promotion a promotion to lieutenant, which would have effectively made him Othello s right
hand man. One would naturally assume that such an office would require intense valor, amity, and
most of all, loyalty. However, he has come to hate Othello for passing him over. It is obvious here that
he has no loyalty or amity, despite the valor he may have shown in past battles. Effectively, he
criticizes and turns on Othello for not thinking him loyal enough, activities which fundamentally
prove his disloyalty. No truly loyal person would develop the resentment and hostility which have
taken root strongly in him. This is integral, because it establishes immediately that Iago is a hypocrite.
He has been overlooked for a position which he thinks he should have gotten because of his loyalty,
but the criticism

Humanities Faire Analysis
The Humanities Faire was both an amazing and stressful challenge this year, which started in
September and ended in October. The ending was a showcase, but there was a long road before that to
get to where it ended. On the first day, we did a really rough overview of the time periods we wanted
to include, the characters, and what the main view to get across was. On September 1st, that is what
we looked at. Breaking into small groups, we got some ideas rolling and brought them to the big
group. After about a week of conversing and little researching, we came to one conclusion as to what
we wanted to get across: God can and will use different groups of people for his plans. Now that the
theme was found, we moved on to narrowing our times and people. For ... Show more content on

were being created and lines were still being practiced. Our costumes were being found, and this all
led up to the dress rehearsal. During this day, we each ran through the whole faire, and as the other
groups were running through their parts, we either watched or finished our sets. This was a successful
practice, with a few things that needed improving, such as studying lines or performance techniques.

getting the toys back and maybe tasting someone else s food, receiving and giving affection from

not the person had a traumatic experience or not. The time spend on this stage is about 20 years
(between 18 40 years of age) a lot can happen in 20 years. However, if there were no traumatic
experiences during that stage the person s ability to trust should still be positive. Consequently, if the
person was raised in a trusting environment he/she can be selective and cautions as to whom to trust.

person to share their knowledge, time, and finances. However, this is also a time to be cautious which
does not mean not trusting. At this stage we are more likely to trust the people we know more than
those we do not know. (Page 162) Stage 8: Integrity versus Despair. For this final stage of our lives,

Fate, Destiny, and Predestination in Beowulf Essays
Fate, Destiny, and Predestination in Beowulf
An epic story is one that combines elements of supernatural powers and heroic deeds with plebeian
troubles. In Beowulf , the unknown author paints a typical yet magnificent tale that is one of the great
epic chronicles of the Middle Ages. Like the poems of Homer, Beowulf possesses terrible monsters,
men with supernatural powers, the search for glory, and deadly defeats. However, this medieval
account brings a new element into the folds: the association between established religious forces and
personal choices. The concepts of predestination and fate intertwine in this work with the idea of free
will.
Throughout the poem, characters struggle to understand who and/or what is the guiding ... Show more

Noticeably present, in fact, are references to each important character s ancestors and lineage. With
each mention of a character, the father is also interjected (Beowulf, son of Ecgtheow or Wiglaf, son of
Weohstan). Destiny initially comes into play when Beowulf arrives at the shores of Denmark and is
unknown to the guards. King Hrothgar proclaims, I used to know [Beowulf] when he was a young
boy. / His father before him was called Ecgtheow (lines 372 3). Clearly, family ties are necessary to
succeed in the world of kings. Beowulf is immediately given leave to enter the country and to follow
up an old friendship (line 376) because the King is certain that the young man is destined to be a great
warrior in Denmark. Certainly, past conquests and victories play a part in Beowulf s renown, but
ancestry is initially more impressive. Beowulf s destiny is, therefore, partly determined by his father s
feats and legacy. The opportunities given to the now famous warrior are a result of the powerful
family that he comes from. Thus, destiny plays a prophetic part in shaping Beowulf s future.
While destiny and fate are related, in Beowulf the two ideas play different roles. Destiny is the
concept that allows sons to be marked for greatness before they have come of age, while fate is an
independent guiding force that does not rely upon worldly interactions (knowledge of lineage,

Zimbabwe Satire
Satire Reflection
The president of zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe is my main satire target. He was the prime minister of
Zimbabwe since 1980 after Zimbabwe became independent from Britain. He then became president of
Zimbabwe in1987 and still is by using fraud, voter indentation, and violence to silence the people. He
is also the head of state in the world. Zimbabwe has been declining over the years. Currently, 72.3%
percent of the population are under poverty line. Life expectancy in zimbabwe is only 58 and 95
percent of the population is unemployed. Even though the country is near complete ruined he still not

This past rainy season there has been numerous floods mainly in southern zimbabwe. Since this past
December, 249 people have died and thousands are homeless. Many of the victims are waiting for any

All he has mentioned so far was that it was a National disaster. This is not suspicious as there are still
many victims of 2014 flood who are still homeless and unable to go back to normal life due to not
receiving aids. In the past, Mugabe has given people aid that did not benefit them such as a few bread
and water or a couple of tshirts. I used situational irony, hyperbole, understatement and sarcasm I
exaggerated how useless his aids are by showing how him dancing for them is the same as the aid he

our poverty, but as a people, we shall never collapse, never ever. is what he actually said about the
people of zimbabwe, but in reality, the people are collapsing and as time pass the rate of the country
and its people falling is increasing. Emmerson Mnangagwa, the vice president of Zimbabwe wants to

The Industrial Revolution
The Industrial Revolution that occurred in the late Nineteenth Century brought many new jobs that
were drastically different to the jobs that previous Americans held. While agricultural jobs still existed
and were vitally important to the sustainability of the American economy, the new factory jobs that
opened up created many new work opportunities for Americans and immigrants who came from
Europe. However, the problem with all these new industrial jobs was that they had very poor working
conditions and the work hours were long and unfair. This along with the low wages made these jobs
undesirable. Despite this, immigrant workers continued to work under these conditions because they
had nowhere else to obtain work and quitting would make it almost impossible for them to find a job
somewhere else with better working conditions and wages. The result of the low wages meant that
many immigrants living on the East Coast of the United States lived below the poverty line. There was
a fundamental problem with the working and living conditions the immigrants were experiencing.
Two political organizations of this era sought to fix this problem with two contrasting methods. The
Progressive Reformers were a political organization that sought out to set permanent fixes to these
conditions and make it possible for the immigrants to be self sustaining. On the other hand, the
political machines, more specifically Tammany Hall of Manhattan, sought to make changes by

William Blake s The Tyger
William Blake s The Tyger and Tragedies William Blake wrote a set of poems in his collection Songs
of Innocence and Songs of Experience. Some of the poems in each collection were meant to be read
together to show the difference between innocence and experience. Many people question why Blake
wrote a two part series to his poems and what they could actually mean. Two specific poems, The
Lamb and The Tyger, were meant to be read together. The Lamb is a part of Blake s Songs of
Innocence and The Tyger is a part of the Songs of Experience collection. Blake went through a great
deal of tragic events in his life between the writing and publishing of Songs of Innocence and Songs
of Experience. Dreadful occasions in William Blake s life may have influenced his poem The Tyger in
the Songs of Experience collection. William Blake had some tragedies during the time period between
Songs of Innocence (1789) and Songs of Experience (1794). Grevel Lindop stated, After 1789 Blake s
work became more openly revolutionary, but also grimmer, the radiant vision of Innocence challenged

Revolution broke out, and during the war William Blake seemed to take a more gruesome approach to
his writings. Blake published his Songs of Innocence poems in 1789 and then after those poems, he
wrote ghastly poems such as the poems in the Songs of Experience collection, The Revolutionary War,

Naegleria Fowleri Research Paper
Naegleria fowleri Infection Payton Vandergriff 5th Period Naegleria fowleri infection is a deadly
disease caused by a form of protist typically found dwelling within warm bodies of fresh water, such
as lakes, rivers, streams and unchlorinated swimming pools. It can also be found within soil or in
warm fresh water deposits outside of factories. Naegleria fowleria typically reside within fish or other
water dwelling organisms, but they have been known to infiltrate the human body via the nasal cavity.
Once within the body, naegleria fowleri attack the human nervous system and brain. This process is
called Primary amoebic meningoencephalitis and although such infections are rare, contraction almost
always guarantees death. The case fatality rate is over 95%. Once the disease has been contracted, the
subject will most likely be dead within five days. The longest running bout of this infection ever
recorded was a mere twenty five days, with the shortest being sixteen hours. ... Show more content on

These symptoms can appear as quickly as an hour after contraction. Because these symptoms are so
generic, many people have mistaken cases of naegleria fowleri for the common cold, which has
resulted in many misdiagnoses and eventual deaths. Secondary symptoms of the disease include
confusion, hallucinations, lack of attention, ataxia (meaning a loss of coordination), and seizures.
Eventually, the patient lapses into a coma where they later die, still within this comatose state. While
the patient is comatose, the amoeba consumes the brain piece by piece. Naegleria fowleri can be
stopped but once the patient drops into a coma, the survival rate becomes even bleaker. The survival
rate, which is already miniscule at less than 1%, morphs into a number even smaller than its
predecessor. Only Amphotericin B, an anti fungal drug, has proven to be effective against the likes of
naegleria

Was The Bombing Of Hiroshima And Nagasaki Ethically...
Was the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki ethically justified? Why Truman decided to drop the
atomic bombs on Japan By Grace Kelsall World War 2 saw the emergence of America as a new world
power on August 6th 1945, also internationally known as the traumatizing day for Hiroshima; after an
American B 29 bomber dropped the world s first atomic bomb. World War Two is considered a great
turning point in modern history, it being one of the bloodiest and horrific wars; exposing all countries
around the world to the nuclear age. Many key events, battles and campaigns have led up to President
Truman s decision, which ultimately brought the surrender of Japan and subsequent end of World War
Two. Nevertheless, the ethical implications of this act are still being debated today. The bombing of
Hiroshima and Nagasaki was ethically justified to a significant extent. Conversely, the motives from
President Truman is evident that he had logical reasoning behind his decision to bomb Japan, however
from a perspective outside America his actions are portrayed as disgusting and inhumane . While the
bombing immensely affected Japan, there were also various factors that have impacted America.
These two perspectives have exhibited to change over time, both showing sympathy towards each
nation; predominantly America, now bringing them even closer together in present day time. Many
significant individuals played a monumental role in the bombing of the populous cities Hiroshima and
Nagasaki. On

Epilogue To Romeo And Juliet
Now that I am five my chief will tell me how the sky lit up, Long Ago, before you and I were born,
the sky chief sent his son down to earth, where there was no light at night... Now since all of you are
all five I have to tell you the story my chief told me forty years ago when I was your age. Now lets
begin, Long ago, before you and I were born, the sky chief ordered his son down to earth, where there
was no light at night. The sky chief s son was named Lusio which means light. Lusio s job was to find
something that would light the sky up. The great fireball in the sky only lit up the sky for half of the
day. At night, the fireball went away and the sky turned dull and black like the fur of all the black
bears in the woods. This meant that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The sky chief then went to his daughter who was younger and more humble than her brother and
asked her if tomorrow she would go down and find something to light the sky. The next day the sky
chief s daughter went down to Earth. Her name was Hakidonmuya which means time of waiting. On
her way down she asked the birds flying her down if they have seen anything lighting up but they said
that they are asleep when everything glows at night. Learning from her brothers mistakes she asked a
rabbit that was hopping around, Do you know where to find something that is capable of lighting up
the night sky? The rabbit replied, You should try to find an owl. They are awake at night and can tell
you what lights up. Hakidonmuya went on a search for an owl that took her all around the world just
to find one owl. Once she found an owl she asked, Do you know of anything living or nonliving that
could light up the night

Theme Of Relationships In How Many Miles To Babylon
The theme is essentially the fundamental message of a text. The narratives I will explore have a one
theme in common, the theme that I found most intriguing, that of relationships. In How Many Miles to
Babylon? (HMMB) a novel by Jennifer Johnston, the theme of relationships is predominant; we are
introduced to the character of Alexander Alec Moore, a character with no real relationship. The
destructive relationship with his parents has affected the relationship he has with himself. Alec has
isolated himself from all forms of human contact. I find this quite troubling, but ultimately inspiring as
I will discuss in this essay. Similarly in The King s Speech, (TKS) a film directed by Tom Hooper,
Bertie, is isolated by his royal duty as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The friendship between Chris and Jim is based on the assertion that Chris is a convincing and
powerful role model. In a key scene in AMS, it is revealed that Chris tried to persuade Jim to leave
medicine so that he can fulfill his dream by engaging in research, despite the fact that he has a family
of his own that depend on him financially and emotionally. Jim refers to this as he These private little
revolutions. Jim decides not to take advice from Chris. Even though he is well aware of Joe s crime,
he does not hold anything against Chris. Growing up with Chris, Jim knows him as someone who is
capable of immense affection and loyalty To some degree Jim aware that Chris is not being honest
with them, he is not being true to himself. I think that Chris has purposely tried to deny the fact that
his father is the murderer of 21 pilots because of self protection. His idealistic ways has not prepared
him for the sad reality in which he lives in. A man as honest as Chris Keller would never know how to
live with a thing like that. It takes talent...for lying. You have it, and I do. But not him. His self

Her Negotiation Summary
Law and Order: Special Victims Unit is an American drama television show that focuses on the
criminal justice system and police procedural. One of the main themes depicted in this show is how
police officers work assiduously in order to bring justice to victims of a crime. In the episode Her
Negotiation, the audience is presented an act of crime that must be met with justice. In analyzing this
specific television episode we will examine how the media can construct an ideology of crime and
policing that does not reflect our criminal justice system. In the episode, Her Negotiation, the
detectives are determined to prosecute a psychopath who has managed to avoid jail time in his
pervious criminal act. The episode starts with a detective chasing ... Show more content on

As discussed in class, many people never come into contact with a police officer or have experience
with the criminal justice system. Therefore, the public might be subjected to create a perception of the
criminal justice system constructed off of the media they are exposed to. This television show relies
on the dogma that in order to achieve justice, a wrongful act must be penalized though incarceration,
which serves as a way of remediation. In this episode, we are presented with a violent act of crime that
most people agree is a morally and ethically a wrongful act. In order to correct this wrongful act, the
show offers the ideology that the police must prosecute the criminal in order to achieve justice for the
victim. However, as discussed in class, many of the crimes people are incarcerated for are non violent
offenses. A majority of these crimes are drug possession that does not include a victim. Furthermore,
this show also suggests that every offender has the opportunity to go to trial. As illustrated in the
episode, the defendant had an opportunity to go to court within a couple of days of the committed act.
Yet, as we learned in class, most defendants end up negotiating a plea bargain and never have the
chance to encounter a grand jury. Therefore this show misconstrues the reality of our criminal justice

Financial reporting is an important component of business control and governance. It is one of the
principal mean by which important financial information of a business is communicated to interested

information to external users (general public, governmental agencies, creditors and investors) and
internal users (management) presenting financial performance of a company over a particular phase of
time. For the purpose of explaining the importance and use of financial statements to its users, we
have used the financial statements of ConAgra foods Incorporation. ConAgra Foods Inc. is a major

What Is Amanda Evil
The Glass Menagerie is a play written by Tennessee Williams. It was first published in 1945. The
Glass Menagerie is a memory play, and the narrator is Tom Wingfield. Tom works at a shoe factory to
support his family after this father abandoned them. Laura, the older sister, is not only morbidly shy
due to a brace she wears around her leg, but she lives in her own fantasy world of glass animals and
old records. Amanda, the mother of both children, was raised in an upper class family. She often tells
stories about her life and the many gentlemen callers she received. Throughout Tom s memory, the
character s frustrations lead to heated arguments, which then leads to a tragic ending. Therefore, a
central idea in The Glass Menagerie focuses on the impossibility of true escape and the frustrations
each character experiences.

Amanda, the mother of both children, sells magazine subscriptions over the phone. She is in conflict
with herself; her magazine subscription calls are embarrassing, but she is willing to sacrifice her
reputation for her children. I believe this is similar to Tom. She cannot properly express her care and
love towards her children. Many people call Amanda evil because of her nagging towards Tom and
neglect towards accepting Laura. However, instead of evil, I think she is unable to accept reality.
Amanda s childhood was spent being popular, and she had some degree of luxury. However, after the
Great Depression, she lost everything. I agree that this is hard to accept, and this is possibly the reason
she lives in her own fantasy world, just like her own children. Amanda chooses to live in her past:
Amanda: One Sunday afternoon in Blue Mountain your mother received seventeen! gentlemen
callers! (Williams, 5). Amanda does not realize that she is living in the past. Therefore, Amanda lives
in her memory of the past and refuses to accept

A Visit To Our Lady Of Guadalupe Church
Seeing culture and religious services. For this observation I went with my aunt and her sister in law
who assist to church named Our Lady Of Guadalupe Church in East Los Angeles, It is a Catholic
church, the service was in the morning at 9:00 am to 10 am. When we got to the place, the building
had a fence when you go inside there was an open area where you can observe a lot of Material
Culture but the one that people would appreciate most was a big figure of the lady of Guadalupe the
mother of Jesus Christ full some people put beautiful flowers, also more towards the building was a
concrete cross figure laying down with the image of Jesus Christ on a wood cross, the building had an
old look, really small looking, rectangular base with 2 small square rooms on the top in the front side
with a lot of open rectangular holes and a big bell in side, also there was a cross figure on the top, thy
entrance door was big and made of wood, the floor the ceiling and benches inside were wood also, on
each beach there was space for 4 to 5 people to sit and had a cushion part on the bottom, on the walls
there were full of images on each side close to altar there was a big image with a small table with a
notebook and pen: left side was a man and right side there was Guadalupe were people writes their
needs and petitions to them.

From The Perspective Of Theorists Covered In The Course, From the perspective of theorists covered in the course, critically evaluate the role educators can play in counteracting dominant power through their practices. French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu (1930 2002) was arguably the foremost sociologist of the twentieth century (Rawolle Lingard, 2013). For Bourdieu, society was one in which, those who govern are prisoners of a reassuring entourage of young, white, middle class technocrats who often know almost nothing about the everyday lives of their fellow citizens and have no occasion to be reminded of their ignorance (Bourdieu, 1999, p. 627). Furthermore, Bourdieu argued that the education systems of the western world function in such a way as to reproduce the class system and social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Recent statistics highlight the strong relationships between parental social class and educational achievement at GCSE level, in addition to the likelihood of pupils eligible for free school meals to be less successful at GCSE level and Level 3 qualifications than those not eligible (DfE, 2011; Lupton Thompson, 2015; DfE, 2016a). Furthermore, the link between levels of social class and participation in higher education is well documented, with those individuals from lower class backgrounds less likely to access higher education (Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, 2015; DfE, 2016b; Bathmaker, et al., 2013). Moreover, research conducted by the Social Mobility and Child Poverty Commission (2013) found that 70% of people surveyed agreed that a good education was key to getting a good job, yet almost half thought it remained unlikely for most children from lower income families, with 65% of those surveyed regarding who you know as more important than what you know . In short, the dominant power within an educational setting is held by those in higher social class positions. Before exploring the extent to which an educator can counteract the dominant power of the higher classes, which reinforces and reproduces the class divide and inequality in higher education, it is important to understand the work of Bourdieu, his influence on social theory and the key concepts (field, ... Indian and transgender individuals, while very different, face similar identity issues. Both groups have faced and continue to face issues regarding their identity and whether or not they can be legally recognized for who they are. Or, to be more exact, it will appear by itself after you have studied our whole system of acting and after you yourselves have made the experiment of initiating, clarifying, transforming, simple everyday human realities into crystals of artistic truth. Teacher Mr. Tortsov, teaches his students the fundaments in acting and how to be successful in its art, in Constantin Stanislavski s eye opening book, An Actor Prepares. In order to illustrate this technique the pigments found in the leaves of spinach were separated by means of thin layer chromatography (TLC). All chromatographic techniques have one principle in common; a liquid or gaseous solution of sample, called the moving phase, is passed (moved) through an adsorbent, called a stationary phase. With TLC the adsorbent of choice was one of the most common coatings, silica gel, SiO2. This compound is polar, and therefore, is frequently used in the separation of polar substances such as aldehydes, ketones, amines and carboxylic acids. Contrary to popular belief, most of Marley s writings were not ganja anthems, but hopeful songs about redemption, social injustice, spiritual strength, and perseverance in the face of seemingly impossible odds. It is superficially important to the story in that it drives Iago s future actions. However, it is fundamentally important to the idea of hypocrisy because it is the main hypocritical premise on which he acts. Simply put, Iago is upset because he has been passed over for military promotion a promotion to lieutenant, which would have effectively made him Othello s right hand man. One would naturally assume that such an office would require intense valor, amity, and most of all, loyalty. However, he has come to hate Othello for passing him over. It is obvious here that he has no loyalty or amity, despite the valor he may have shown in past battles. Effectively, he criticizes and turns on Othello for not thinking him loyal enough, activities which fundamentally prove his disloyalty. No truly loyal person would develop the resentment and hostility which have taken root strongly in him. This is integral, because it establishes immediately that Iago is a hypocrite. King Hrothgar proclaims, I used to know [Beowulf] when he was a young boy. / His father before him was called Ecgtheow (lines 372 3). The Industrial Revolution The Industrial Revolution that occurred in the late Nineteenth Century brought many new jobs that were drastically different to the jobs that previous Americans held. While agricultural jobs still existed and were vitally important to the sustainability of the American economy, the new factory jobs that opened up created many new work opportunities for Americans and immigrants who came from Europe. However, the problem with all these new industrial jobs was that they had very poor working conditions and the work hours were long and unfair. This along with the low wages made these jobs undesirable. Despite this, immigrant workers continued to work under these conditions because they had nowhere else to obtain work and quitting would make it almost impossible for them to find a job somewhere else with better working conditions and wages. The result of the low wages meant that many immigrants living on the East Coast of the United States lived below the poverty line. • 42. Theme Of Relationships In How Many Miles To Babylon The theme is essentially the fundamental message of a text. The narratives I will explore have a one theme in common, the theme that I found most intriguing, that of relationships. In How Many Miles to Babylon? (HMMB) a novel by Jennifer Johnston, the theme of relationships is predominant; we are introduced to the character of Alexander Alec Moore, a character with no real relationship. The destructive relationship with his parents has affected the relationship he has with himself. Alec has isolated himself from all forms of human contact. I find this quite troubling, but ultimately inspiring as I will discuss in this essay. Similarly in The King s Speech, (TKS) a film directed by Tom Hooper, Bertie, is isolated by his royal duty as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In a key scene in AMS, it is revealed that Chris tried to persuade Jim to leave medicine so that he can fulfill his dream by engaging in research, despite the fact that he has a family of his own that depend on him financially and emotionally. Jim refers to this as he These private little revolutions. Jim decides not to take advice from Chris. Even though he is well aware of Joe s crime, he does not hold anything against Chris. Growing up with Chris, Jim knows him as someone who is capable of immense affection and loyalty To some degree Jim aware that Chris is not being honest with them, he is not being true to himself. I think that Chris has purposely tried to deny the fact that his father is the murderer of 21 pilots because of self protection. His idealistic ways has not prepared him for the sad reality in which he lives in. A man as honest as Chris Keller would never know how to live with a thing like that. It takes talent...for lying. In the episode Her Negotiation, the audience is presented an act of crime that must be met with justice. In analyzing this specific television episode we will examine how the media can construct an ideology of crime and policing that does not reflect our criminal justice system. As discussed in class, many people never come into contact with a police officer or have experience with the criminal justice system. Therefore, the public might be subjected to create a perception of the criminal justice system constructed off of the media they are exposed to. This television show relies on the dogma that in order to achieve justice, a wrongful act must be penalized though incarceration, which serves as a way of remediation. In this episode, we are presented with a violent act of crime that most people agree is a morally and ethically a wrongful act. In order to correct this wrongful act, the show offers the ideology that the police must prosecute the criminal in order to achieve justice for the victim. However, as discussed in class, many of the crimes people are incarcerated for are non violent offenses. A majority of these crimes are drug possession that does not include a victim. Furthermore, this show also suggests that every offender has the opportunity to go to trial. As illustrated in the episode, the defendant had an opportunity to go to court within a couple of days of the committed act. Yet, as we learned in class, most defendants end up negotiating a plea bargain and never have the chance to encounter a grand jury. Therefore this show misconstrues the reality of our criminal justice ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. What Is Amanda Evil The Glass Menagerie is a play written by Tennessee Williams. It was first published in 1945. The Glass Menagerie is a memory play, and the narrator is Tom Wingfield. Tom works at a shoe factory to support his family after this father abandoned them. Laura, the older sister, is not only morbidly shy due to a brace she wears around her leg, but she lives in her own fantasy world of glass animals and old records. Amanda, the mother of both children, was raised in an upper class family. She often tells stories about her life and the many gentlemen callers she received. Throughout Tom s memory, the character s frustrations lead to heated arguments, which then leads to a tragic ending. Therefore, a central idea in The Glass Menagerie focuses on the impossibility of true escape and the frustrations each character experiences. I enjoyed the characters in the play for their ... She is in conflict with herself; her magazine subscription calls are embarrassing, but she is willing to sacrifice her reputation for her children. I believe this is similar to Tom. She cannot properly express her care and love towards her children. Many people call Amanda evil because of her nagging towards Tom and neglect towards accepting Laura. However, instead of evil, I think she is unable to accept reality. Amanda s childhood was spent being popular, and she had some degree of luxury. However, after the Great Depression, she lost everything. I agree that this is hard to accept, and this is possibly the reason she lives in her own fantasy world, just like her own children.
