One way to do this is with extensive exercise. Not just two or three times a week for 30 minutes.
Crewmembers must exercise six times a week for almost three hours at a time using equipment
such as the ergometer, treadmill, and the Resistance Exercise Device (RED) ( Use It or Lose It,
2004). Another way to fight the effects of micro gravity is to create an artificial gravity. Creating
artificial gravity can be done using one of two techniques, a rotation or acceleration. The entire
spacecraft could rotate, or a single section of the spacecraft could do the rotation. This would give
the astronauts the opportunity to live or weight train in a non weightless environment (Hsu, 2010).
High acceleration and deceleration rates of the spacecraft could also provide a normal gravitational
environment ( Space Travel, n.d.).
Once the mission leaves the Earth s atmosphere and travels into space, the next challenge awaits.
The Earth s atmosphere and magnetic field act as a shield and deter a large portion space radiation.
Space radiation comes from our Sun in the form of solar radiation and also comes from outside our
solar system in the form of cosmic rays (Gray, 2013). Radiation may be the most dangerous

millions of tons of charged particles into space at speeds

Footloose Analysis
I saw Footloose, directed by John Wilson and written by Pitchford and Walter Bobbie, on
Thursday in the Highlander Theatre at UCM. The story is about a high school boy who moves to
a small town with his Mom after her divorce. He is an outsider, and is surprised to find that it is
against the law to dance. Then, he decides to take a stand and fight the law so that everyone in the
town has the right to express themselves through dance. John opened the show with his director s
note, and gave a spiel about what he believed the audience should take away from the show. His
goal was for us to make a connection with how the youth and the adults found a way to work
through their problems by talking it out. I believe this is an extraordinary message in today s
society as technology is embraced by the youth and shunned by the older generations. However, I
believe that other parts of the show, such as the relationship between the reverendand his wife, had
a much larger impact than the message that he had hoped to send. There were many parts of the
acting that I believe if worked on would have given the show substantially more impact. Granted, it
is incredibly difficult to portray a character, and a scene, in such a way that the audience loses
themselves in the story and is able to empathize with what the characters are feeling. However, the
two major scenes that were meant to drive in the message that John hoped to send were simply
underwhelming. The first scene that didn t hit
