In the Port Huron Statement, largely written by Tom Hayden, the Students for a Democratic
Society state America s problems are found within the Values, Students, and Society. These
problems come at a time when the Cold War threatened them, and while the South struggled with
racial bigotry. The student body writes about ideals being pushed on them from professors who fall
behind with the times. In classes, where they believe they should have the freedom to be idealistic,
they are instead met with resistance to change. As students, they also feel they give no contribution
to the real world. That many are apathetic to what goes on around them as they focus entirely on
campus life. The Black Panther s Ten Point Program, drafted by Huey P. Newton

3. Common Category Of Cardiac Arrhythmias
Introduction
Atrial Fibrillation
Atrial Fibrillation (AF) known to be the common category of cardiac arrhythmias. It is mainly due
to the rate or rhythm abnormalities of the heart and is a type of supraventricular tachycardia (SVT).
Rapid and irregular heart beating is a characteristic sign of atrial fibrillation. It is of significance
since it a high risk of leading to thromboembolic events, heart failure and mortality (1).
The prevalence of atrial fibrillation globally has increased significantly to about 2 3% in the
population. Since the risk of atrial fibrillation increases significantly with age, due to multiple co
morbidities, the UK s increasing elderly population has a marked increase in incidences of atrial
fibrillation (2).
Complications
Patients with on going atrial fibrillation have been shown to have an increased risk of
thromboembolic events. The clots that can be formed in the heart during atrial fibrillation can
easily travel and obstruct blood vessels, leading to tissue ischemia, thus causing severe organ
damage such as a Pulmonary Embolus or stoke. It is highly recommend that patients with atrial
fibrillation undergo anticoagulation therapy with drugs that help thin the blood such as Warfarinto
help prevent clot formation. These drugs come with serious side effects such bleeding in the brain
that can lead to complications or even death.
Treatments methods

COIN Operation and US Involvement in Afghanistan COL (R) Frank Hall CJ 4475 Term Paper By:
Alejandro Cespedes Northwestern State University 02 November 2014 COIN Operation and US
involvement in Afghanistan Abstract Counterinsurgency, well known as COIN, operations refers to
an activity where the armed forces in collaboration with the civilian populous try to defend the
legitimacy of existing government from internal insurgency (Paul, Clarke, 2011). According to
Field Manual 3 24, counterinsurgency is a deliberate and combined effort by both civilian and
military to resist and probably defeat in any attempt of taking power by the insurgents. In this case,
the effort may involve comprehensive war against the insurgents as well as attempts to solve the
major cause of such insurgency by addressing key issues of concern (Defense Science Board Task
Force on Defense Intelligence, 2011). By doing this, a counterinsurgency operation may yield
positive results for the local and international community. The main aim is to protect the legitimate
government from being over thrown and to strengthen its rule within the territory. Consequently,
innocent civilians also get an opportunity to help the COIN operation with necessary information
among other resources that aid in defeating the insurgents hence restoring normalcy. COIN
operations are not only done for the interest of the local community, but also the international
community (Steger, 2011). In this report, US

6. Taking a Look at Literary Deconstructionism
What is literary deconstructionism? According to the Merriam Webster dictionary
deconstructionism is the literary analysis that questions the fundamental conceptual distinctions, or
oppositions , in Western philosophy through a close examination of the language and logic of
philosophical and literary texts . In other words it means that the reader makes the text what they
want it to be, they cannot assume that the writer is implying anything by the words he has written;
the text can have a different meaning to each person that reads it. Deconstructionism has been
closely related to the postmodernism era as they both tend to resist definition or classification.
According to Clark Morrow in the July 2007 The Vocabula Review, most people consider the
theory that words are very indistinct tokens of meaning; and can yield any number of meanings as
deconstructionism, while others call it postmodernism; as stated previously these two literary eras
are closely linked. Deconstructionism theory states that can be no misinterpretation of what you
read, the writer may intend to have one meaning of the text but each person that reads it can all
take away different meanings from it. Deconstructionism began in the mid 1960 s, and peaked
during the 1970 s; by a man name Jacques Derrida. Derrida was born in July 1930 in El Bian,
Algeria and died October 8, 2004 in Paris, France; he graduated with his baccaulaureat in 1948

7. Heating For Heating Building Or House
Many technologies are available for heating building or house. Boilers are pressure vessels intended
to heat water or deliver steam which can then be used to give space heating and additionally benefit
water heating to a building. In most business building heating applications, the heating source in the
boileris a natural gas fired burner. Oil fired burners and electric resistance radiators can be used
too. Steam is favored over heated water in a few applications, counting absorption cooling,
kitchens, laundries, sterilizers, and steam driven hardware. Boilers have a few qualities that
have made them a typical component of buildings. They have a long life, can accomplish
efficiencies up to 95% or more, give a powerful strategy for heating a building and on account of
steam systems, require little or no pumping energy. Otherwise, fuel costs can be significant,
regular maintenance is required, and if support is deferred, repair can be exorbitant. Boilers are
regularly one of the biggest energy users in a building. For consistently a boiler system goes
unattended, boiler expenses can increase around 10%. Boiler operation and maintenance are in this
way a decent place to begin when searching for approaches to reduce energy use and save money.

10. Difference Between Smartwatch Vs Luxury Watch
Smartwatch vs. luxury watch, the battle for premier time A smartwatch is an automated
wristwatch which can run mobile applications and allows one to access several functions such as
a calculator, compass, applications to book a cab and order groceries. This can also be used to
make or answer phone calls and to send text messages. There is a possibility that the luxury watch
industry may lose its customers to the smartwatch industry. The luxury watch has had a high brand
value and have been a symbol of prestige, riches, status and classiness. The introduction of the
smartwatch by the tech savvy companies such as Samsung, Motorola, Apple and Google has
brought about increased competition in the watch industry.

are inevitable technical glitches and complexities associated with a smartwatch. The Apple watch

Therefore, due to these reasons, the luxury watch industry does not face an imminent threat of
losing most of its customers to the smartwatch makers in the next decade. However, at the same
time, the industry also cannot ignore the risk of losing its customers who love technology. The
desire to display style with status can now be fulfilled through smart watches made by strong
brands like Apple. The luxury watch retailers have witnessed a decline in the revenue in 2015 as

If I were to tell you that a group of federal inmates guilty of a variety of crimes that included,
embezzlement, drug manufacturing, child pornography, and murder were in your community, the

inmates. The facilities are called halfway houses, and they were created to help an inmate that is

Another problem that the prison system face is that after an inmate is released from prison,
they have a very high probability to repeat the offenses that they went to prison for originally.
Halfway houses have been a proven way to increase the chance of success for inmates once they
have finished their sentence, and this keeps them from further burdening an already straining
system. The Bureau of Prisons spends a large amount of money housing, feeding, and attempting
to rehabilitate convicts. Given the current laws in place, it is hard to offset the costs required to
run those prisons. Residents participating in halfway house programs are extremely low cost
when compared to those inmates residing in the prison system. The differences in costs can be
associated the lower amount of compensation for staff, smaller facilities, and cheaper utilities.
The residents of halfway houses are required to give 25 percent of the gross income they earn to
the Bureau of Prisons. Given the large difference in cost factors, halfway houses are a very
economical way for the Bureau of Prisons to save money on the last six months of an inmate s
sentence. The probation office has also reaped the rewards of halfway houses. Inmates that are
released from prison, they will usually be required to have supervision by a probation officer. In
the past when a felon violated a condition of their probation, there were very few ways to punish
that person, and those punishments usually

13. Ford Pinto Failure
Introduction
This memo is a failure analysis report on the Ford Pinto automobile accidents. On 28th May,
1972 a 1972 Ford Pinto car (manufactured by Ford Motors) burst into flames after a 30 Miles Per
Hour (mph) collision caused an immediate fire burning down the car killing the driver, Lily Gray
(Leggett, Christopher 1999). According to public record, more than 500 people have been killed
from Ford Pinto crash burnings (Dowie, Mark 1977). The ensuing sections of this report outline the
events leading up to the design and production of faulty Ford Pintos, the rationale behind the
failure, and the lessons that can be grasped from this failure. Description
The Ford Pinto began being designed in 1968. The fuel system was designed such that ... Show

(Dowie, Mark 1977).
On the other hand, the failure was caused by a questionable cost benefit analysis which gave little
importance to the safety of drivers and passengers. By putting a monetary value to car burnings
and deaths, Ford concluded that they would make larger revenue by producing a car that did not
need adequate safety designs. Lessons to be Learned
The designers and engineers working on the Ford Pinto were aware of the results of the crash
tests and the possibility of the gas tank rupturing. However, they did not redesign the fuel system
or add any protection between the bumper and the gas tank in the final design. Management
pressure can be used to suppress concerns, however, as engineers, the code of ethics requires that
all engineers must be dedicated towards safety, protection and welfare of people, and should not
give consent to any design with potentially dangerous consequences. Moreover, it is apparent the
rupturing of gas tanks was caused by the failure of a small part of a large mechanism. It is
important to make sure that no design feature is ignored or treated as trivial in an engineering
project; every part and every design must work efficiently and safely in order to be used by society.
Lastly, no factor should be placed above safety in our

Meaning and Texture of the Seventh Poem in Leaves of Grass
Walt Whitman s seventh poem in his work, Leaves of Grass, displays the subtlety with which the
poet is able to manipulate the reader s emotions. In this poem there are no particular emotional
images, but the overall image painted by word choice and use of sounds is quite profound. This
poem, like many others written by Walt Whitman, is somewhat somber in mood, but not morose. It
is serious, but not to the point of gloom. Whitman writes concerning the general idea that
everything is merged together and is one. One cannot die without being born, just as one cannot be
a mother without first having one. The purpose of the poem is to show those things that are real are

He makes many lines quite long, but only those that link ideas together. He speaks of death and
birth in the same line in the second stanza, just as he talks of male and female in the same line in
the third stanza. He does this to aid the reader in deciphering the meaning of the poem. Everything
is truth; everything is unified, even those things we perceive as opposite.
Strong adjectives illustrating his point are also prevalent in the poem. He writes, I.../Am around,
tenacious, acquisitive, tireless.... He uses these words to merely illustrate the concept that the soul,
or omnipotent being, is always there watching. These adjectives make the poem more descriptive,
and they paint a more vivid picture in the reader s mind. Also, he chooses many words that have
soft sounds with endings like ss, th, etc. These words include, pass, earth, birth, and many others.
However, he then counterbalances these with harder sounding words like adjunct, immortal, and
begetters. Even the words of the poem serve to illustrate his point of universal unity.
The repetition in the poem also aids in understanding the overall message of the poem. He only
says what he is and what, For me... the world is. Whitman s manipulation of words portrays a more
optimistic, positive view, not a

16. Comparing The Birth Stories Of Matthew And Luke
The profound birth narratives of Matthew and Luke clearly, and immediately, place Jesus as the
Son of God. Both authors leave no room for doubt among readers that God orchestrates the birth
of Jesus Christ. The basic premise within the narratives is also similar; Jesus is born in Bethlehem
to the Virgin Mary, wife of Joseph. Soon after his birth, Jesusreceives visitors who affirm his
significance. The surety of Jesus divinity is established by God s usage of visions and angels in
guiding the characters involved in the birth narratives. Jesus birth is repeatedly portrayed to be
fulfilling the prophecies of the Old Testament. However, even though the narratives strongly
emphasize Jesus sanctity, their underlying premise is quite peculiar for God s arrival on Earth.
Instead of an entry into the world signified by grand celebrations and commemoration, the birth of
Jesus occurs in an intimate setting.
God plays a prominent role in birth narratives of Matthew and Luke. God s presence ensures that
Joseph and Mary know how truly momentous the coming birth is. An angel appears to Joseph or
Mary, depending on the Gospel, before Jesus birth and declare what is to come (New Revised
Standard Version, Matthew.1.20; Luke 1.30). God s messages provide contextualization of Jesus ...

Testament. In both Gospels, Jesus lineage goes back to King David (Matthew. 1.6; Luke. 2.4).

Another key element is the virgin birth of Jesus (Matthew. 1.23; Luke. 1.27). The birth to a virgin
in the town of Bethlehem with linage back to King David is evidence for Jesus being the Messiah.

17. The Incentive Plan Lost Adequacy As A Motivational...
In the beginning, the system consistently paid significant incentives. In the long run, this alerted
workers to view the incentives as a major aspect of their normal pay and not as motivating force to
move forward. The incentive plan lost adequacy as a motivational instrument. The employees
mentality is that of Vroom Expectancy Theory, in which motivationis a product of three elements:
valence (how much one wants a reward), expectancy (one s estimate of the profitability that effort
will result in successful performance) and instrumentality (one s estimate that performance will
result in receiving reward) (Newstrom, 2015 p.131 2). When cutbacks occurred, remaining
workers became insecure in their job and influenced their yearning to perform. They did just what
was expected of them to stay employed and nothing additional. Employees were not compensated
for seven months due to low productivity and profitability, which made the employees furious and
distrust the plan (Beer Collins, 2008 p.2). This is adequate evidence that supports McGregor s
Theory X and Theory Y.
Despite the fact, that management was fully aware of the employees grievances and the need to
redesign the incentive plan, management does nothing to ratify their complaints. Evidently,
Engstrom management team is not meeting the mental needs of the workers and breaks Newstrom
implication of the unwritten mental contract that workers sign upon employment with the company
(Newstrom, 2015, pg. 87 9). As a

22. Relationship Between Science And Religion
The relationship between science and religion is an arguably rigid one, the two topics presently
posing contrasting ideas in modern society. However, this relationship has been varied over the
course of time, in particular the nineteenth century. We can put forth the argument that it was not
necessarily as simple as the two being mutually exclusive concepts that continuously opposed each
other; rather the two held a complicated relationship. These apparent conflicts between scienceand
religioncan often be resultant of more complex debates, for example concerning political power. It
can also be seen that there was a continually shifting boundary between the two subjects, making it
merely reductionist to say the two were in conflict. Science and religion were in conflict to the
extent that both these concepts were adapting to the contemporary world, sometimes causing them
to clash.
During the nineteenth century, religion still remained a prevalent influence in Britain, from which
we can argue that there was no widespread conflict caused by the sciences. Britain was a
predominantly protestant country, with an estimation of attendance being made by Dr Chalmers,
from which he concluded that five eighths, or sixty two and a half per cent., of the people of a
town might attend religious services. The period also saw the revival of the evangelical
movement, from which people believed that religion should inform every aspect of daily life, and
we must spend our lives

Life Orientation Line Dancing Portfolio
10 August 2015
Section B:
Definition: a type of country and western dancing in which dancers line up in a row without
partners and follow a choreographed pattern of steps to music.
History: Line dancing originated before Christ and it originated from another kind of dance called
Contra dancing which was done in the New England states in the early 1800s. The Contra was set
up in such a way that there would be two lines facing each other one line would be men and the
other line would be woman. A couple would then step into the middle and do their own routine
down the line and then the next couple would come forward and so on and so forth.

One of the strengths that I realized while dancing was that I have a good ear for hearing the beat
of the music and find it easy to keep to the rhythm of the dance. I also found it easy to remember
the steps and the order of the steps. I struggled with the technicalities of certain steps. In the
beginning I also struggled with the enthusiasm that was needed in the dance due to a lack of
confidence but this enthusiasm increased as my confidence with the dance increased. I enjoyed
learning choreography and dancing in time to the music but I did not enjoy how some people
were singled out and forced to dance in front of the entire class. Line dancing was very beneficial
not only physically but it also teaches a lot of life lessons that cannot be learned anywhere else
such as discipline and to respect and appreciate women. I would participate in further line
dancing activities because it is a good opportunity to get to know new people and become
involved in new thing and learn new skills. Line dancing can improve confidence and self
esteem so I would therefore do it again if I was struggling with these things. I personally highly
enjoyed going to the line dancing lessons as it was a way for me to escape from the busy life of a
matric student. It gave me a chance to forget about all other work and subjects and allowed me to
express myself in such a way that it relieved stress from my everyday

24. Examples Of Liminality In Bildungsroman
Amy Gaffney, 14734045ENG10090Coming of Age Final Essay Whether orphans or
adventurers, many characters in the course texts have a troubled relation to home and society.
Comparing two texts, consider the representation of outsider figures. On the Outside Looking
in: Liminality in Bildungsroman To be liminal is, according to the Oxford English Dictionary in
a cultural anthropologic sense of or relating to a transitional or intermediate state between
culturally defined stages of a person s life, especially as marked by a ritual or rite of passage;
characterized by liminality. Being liminal can also be seen as being the outsider, the threat to
what is considered the norm. According to Giddens, norms are rules of behaviour that reflect or
embody a culture s value, either prescribing a given type of behaviour or forbidding it. (1065).
These norms operating within a society can be either explicit or implicit. Transgressing norms can
be seen as a deviance, however, deviating from the norm may yield both negative and positive
results. In many bildungsroman liminality is essential to the characters development. Philip
Pullman s Northern Lights and Jeanette Winterson s Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit, in which both

25. Essay on The Communist Manifesto
The Communist Manifesto
Marx describes the problem in great detail in the first chapter. He feels there is a problem
between the bourgeoisie and the proletarians. The bourgeoisie were the oppressed class before
the French Revolution and he argues that they are now the oppressors. The proletarians are the
new working class, which works in the large factory and industries. He says that through mass
industry they have sacrificed everything from the old way of religion, employment, to a man s
self worth and replaced it with monetary value. He is mad that the people of ole that use to be
upper class such as skills man, trades people, amp; shopkeepers, are now slipping into the
proletarians or working class. He ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He begins trying to use a sort of a reverse psychology, by saying the communists do not write their
principles specifically for the proletarians. Rather, just by chance, the communist vision is perfect
for the proletarians to use. He said the problem of all other societies before this time have been a
battle between the oppressors versus the oppressed. The basis of these battles has been property. So
Communism looks to get rid of different classes in society. Therefore getting rid of different
property levels or class levels. Marx says it best by In sense, the theory of the Communists may be
summed up in the single sentence: Abolition of private property. He says with no private property
there will be no reason to fight or feud.
I think that this is a very good hypothesis put in front of us by Karl Marx and Frederick Engels.
They do a superb job of explaining the problem with the existing government. They also give a
vehicle for change in the next chapter. So its seems that I should be ready for a communist
revolution. The problem with this is that it is just a good hypothesis. As with all hypothesis s they
must be tested and the communist hypothesis has failed most of its tests. I must hand it to Mr.
Marx, since I was born and raised in a very anti communist country and after reading two chapters
in his book I was almost ready to join him. He is a

a little more at home than the Southern prisons, but this wasn t the case at all, the prisons on each

During the early years of the war, the two sides frequently had prisoner exchanges, but that was

thought that it was pointless and using too much time and people. Robert H. Kellogg, who was
a sergeant major, described his entry as a prisoner into the camp on May 2nd, 1864: As we
entered the place, a spectacle met our eyes that almost froze our blood with horror, and made
our hearts fail within us. Before us were forms that had once been active and erect; stalwart men,
now nothing but mere walking skeletons, covered with filth and intensity of their feeling,
exclaimed with earnestness. Can this be hell? God protect us! and all thought that He alone
could bring them out alive from so terrible a place. In the center of the whole was a swamp,
occupying about three or four acres of the narrowed limits, and a part of this marshy place had
been used by the prisoners as a sink, and excrement covered the ground, the scent arising from
which was suffocating. The ground allotted to our ninety was near the edge of this plague spot, and
how we were to live through the warm summer weather in the midst of such fearful surroundings,
was more than we cared to think of just then. Andersonville is a southern camp that could easily be

His wife Andromache begged him to stay when he visited her and their son because she was

Romance and Reality in Flaubert s Madame Bovary
In the story of Alice in Wonderland we follow Alice down a rabbit hole into a land of pure
wonder, where the logic of a little girl holds no sway. In Gustave Flaubert s Madame Bovary, we
witness exactly the opposite as Emma Bovary, a most romantic creature, is purposely cast into a
harshly realistic world. In either case, a creature is put into an environment unnatural to her
disposition, yet in Flaubert s example, Emma shares the world we inhabit, and thus the message her
story brings is much more pertinent. To convey this message, Flaubert replicates not a world of
fantasy, but rather the real world, with all its joy, sadness, and occasional monotony intact. Then he
proceeds to dump an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All the bitterness of life seemed to be served up to her on her plate, and as the steam rose from the
boiled meat, waves of nausea rose from the depths of her soul. (Flaubert 58)
This image and atmosphere of mundane imperfection is a far cry from what Emma expects after
reading the romantic novels she smuggled in at the convent. From those foppish texts she gathers
the impression that ladies such as she should be lolling on carriages or dreaming on sofas, or
perhaps embracing some dashing young man in a short cloak (Flaubert 32). Yet such is not the
reality in which she lives.
Flaubert adds to his stark images the homey atmospheres and settings of the provincial towns in
which Emma lives, places which by their very simplistic natures are anathema to a romantic such as
Bovary. It is only through Emma s depiction of these villages that they are cast as mundane and
drab. Though the image exists of the small and backward town with its town gossips and town
idiot, it can be seen that it is simply a town, one in which a person can be content that is, if she is
not the always unfulfilled Emma Bovary. Thus the setting and the stereotypical characters add to
the realistic atmosphere that confronts Emma.
Into the midst of this hodgepodge of unflattering images and commonalties, Flaubert then tosses
Emma and Charles. To Emma, Charles is

History, as taught in American schools, generally displays a bias towards the people that benefitted

41. Research Of Consumption Patterns And Wealth Accumulation
Research linking consumption patterns and wealth accumulation has focused on the US
(Gourinchas and Parker, 2002; Cagetti, 2003). However, given the large difference in capital to
income ratios between the US and UK (Piketty and Zucman, 2014), it is possible that UK wealth
accumulation dynamics differ from those in the US. Hence, the strength and timing of the
precautionary and life cycle savings motives in the UK require further exploration.
However, UK data on wealth are ``seriously incomplete (Crossley and O Dea, 2016) and hence
econometric analysis is impossible. This is because cross sectional data cannot be used to analyse
life cycle consumption behaviour (Banks, Dilnot and Low, 1994) and WAS, the only UK panel

Furthermore, there is a large literature regarding the role of the income distribution (Parker {it et
al.}, 2013; Broda and Parker, 2014), liquidity (Agarwal and Qian, 2014; Kreiner {it et al.}, 2016)
and employment status (Japelli and Pistaferri, 2014) in determining the consumption response to
fiscal stimulus. However, few authors consider the role the wealth distribution has to play in
determining the efficacy of fiscal policy.
When work has been conducted, it has often yielded counterintuitive results. In particular, Kaplan
and Violante (2014) fail to find a strong relationship between wealth and the marginal propensity to
consume out of transitory shocks to income (MPC), contrary to empirical evidence from Japelli
and Pistaferri (2014) that the MPC is strongly negatively related to levels of cash on hand. Indeed,
recent work by Carroll {it et al.} (2016) estimates that the MPC is declining in wealth percentile.
Consequently, there is no consensus in the literature regarding the effectiveness of wealth targeted

43. Analysis Of The World Of Doublespeak By William Lutz
In the essay The World of Doublespeak , by William Lutz, the author gives the reader four different
questions to help one identify doublespeak. According to Lutz these questions are, who is saying
what to whom, under what conditions and circumstances, with what intent, and with what results?
(par. 4). These questions help to distinguish between truthful language and doublespeak. The first
question, who is saying what to whom? focuses on the relationship between the two people. The
chance of doublespeak being present increases greatly when the two people have a negative, or
passive aggressive, relationship. The next question, under what conditions and circumstances?
focuses on the events of what is going on. This question shows up prominently in events such as
political rallies and debates. The third question, with what intent focuses on the underlying goal of
the statement. This question raises the most suspicion, as it makes one really think about whether
there is doublespeak present. The final question what results ties in on the intent. The outcome of
the doublespeak will be different that that of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He explains that the cause of doublespeak is usually to evade making a problematic situation sound
very bad. For example, in 1984 the US State Department announced it would no longer use the word
killing in its annual report on the status of human rights around the world (par. 7). By doing this, it
eludes the readers into believing that the US does not have relations with nations that kill people.
Although the US continues to have relations with nations that kill people, the statements refer to
those nations as those that have unlawful or arbitrary deprivation of life happening instead of
murder. This effect results in tricking the people into false assumptions of the US s relations with

shows that some people do not observe, they just look at the obvious. All the clues and hint that are

unlike Sherlock Holmes. Sherlock Holmes is able to identify who the culprit is throughout the short
stories and the films that we watched in class. Both of these movies, Sherlock Holmes and The
Great Mouse Detective, have antagonists that are represented in different ways.
In the movie Sherlock Holmes the villain is named Blackwood and in The Great Mouse Detective
the villain is Professor Ratigan. In all of the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle s stories there is always a
villain or a suspect. Blackwood in the film Sherlock Holmes and Professor Ratigan in The Great
Mouse Detective were both out to achieve a similar goal . Both of the characters in these movies
have similarities, but both of the characters also have differences as well. While Blackwood in
Sherlock Holmes is a human, Ratigan is a rat in The Great Mouse Detective. The two characters

45. Utopia In John Foster s Story The Machine Stops
In Fosters story The Machine Stops he displays two points of view into the utopian society ruled
by the machine, which prove Rothstein s Idea that one man s utopia is another man s dystopia. The
first character in his story, Vashti, Is content with her life and would consider society close to a
utopia. The second character, Kuno, Vashti s son, is not as pleased with his situation. The clashing
opinions give the reader a lot to think about when considering Rothstein s idea.
Vashti, the woman at the beginning of the story, lives out her days as many other people of this
time do, sitting alone in an arm chair in the middle of their room. Everything is brought to her at a
moment s notice, which makes moving from her spot a seemingly pointless thing to do. For her,
everything is good enough . When she refers to the way the machine cannot display the emotions
of another, while talking with her son, she disregards the imperfection saying that the idea this
communication is an idea that was good enough for all practical purposes. She goes on to say in
her narration that something good enough had long since been accepted by our race. For her, good
enough is perfect. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Abstract Voting is most pivotal process of democratic society through which people determine it s
government. Governments around the world are increasingly considering the replacement of
traditional paper based voting schemes with electronic voting systems. Elections of Bangladesh are
conducted most exclusively using electronic voting machines developed over the past three years.

Among the reasons for concern, critics include vague and incomplete security guidelines,
insufficient documentation requirements, and inadequate descriptions of the configuration of
commercial software. An electronic voting machine has been designed by a microcontroller for
which the code is written in assembly language. Various code protection schemes specified by the
manufacturer of the microcontroller are used to prevent inadvertent or deliberate reading and
reproduction of the code contained in the microcontroller. The election data contained in the
EEPROM of the microcontroller can download into a central computer for tabulations. The security
of data in this computer is enforced by generating digital signatures for each data file created. This
process makes it impossible for anyone to substitute wrong or deliberately altered data files at any
intermediate stage between the capturing of voter s intent by the machine and the final results
tabulations. Prior to the election, all configuration data is set up on the counting server. The
configuration is then transferred to the ballot box server. Configuration data include: candidate
names, polling station identity, and a list of barcodes. During the voting period, voters are
authenticated as per the traditional paper based voting, and asked whether they wish to vote
electronically or use the traditional paper based method. A voter

48. Psalms Requirements
1.Introduction
The book of Psalms is an indispensable literature for those believers that wish to worship God in
Spirit and in truth. The name Psalms originates from the Hebrew language which means praises .
However, Christian worship is not limited to singing songs of praise. Biblical worship encompasses
our heart s desire, our love for God. This kind of worship has been a part of every great spiritual
awakening in history.
Historically, the book of Psalms covers the time of Moses until the end of the exile of Israel.
Although scholars consider the titles of the Psalms difficult to comprehend, they assume that the
title of each Psalm explains the historical context of the biblical passage. One of the main purposes
of the book of Psalms ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, it is considered an essential source of God s law. Scholars assume that the psalms
have been used in the cult of the second temple as a liturgical practice. According to Sigmund
Mowinckel, in the past, the book of Psalms was the main hymnbook of Israel. Mowinckel affirms
that the title of the book of Psalms means cultic songs of Praise and the term cultic involves
worship, doctrine, and behavior. In other words, cult may be defined as the socially established
and regulated holy acts and words in which the encounter and communion of the Deity with the
congregation is established, developed, and brought to its ultimate goal Therefore, cult involves a
relationship with God as observed in the religious life of Israel. Andrew B. McGowan agrees with
the idea that the cult had a remarkable meaning for the Israelites. He sustains that ancient Christians
were able to experience worship during their liturgical moments of service because those moments
communicated, shared values and obedience to the Word of God. Liturgical moments will never
replace the real meaning of a genuine Christian Worship. That is the reason that leads McGowan to
affirm that Christian worship is not limited to liturgy but moral values. Another association between
the book of Psalms and worship can be found in particular Psalms that express praise,

49. Feminist Literary Criticism In Nathaniel Hawthorne s The...
Feminism and The Scarlet Letter
The Scarlet Letter stood out as a revolutionary work of writing when first published in 1850,
mainly because of Nathaniel Hawthorne s radical main character Hester Prynne. The novel s
influence and Hawthorne s legacy are still clearly seen in its use in schools today, as well as its
lasting popularity with readers. As the novel has persisted throughout literary history, its themes,
symbolism, and characters have come under the view of many different lenses. It is arguable in our
present day circumstances that Hester and her role in the novel still represent and uphold the innate
feeling of what is known today as feminism.
One of the lenses that The Scarlet Letter has fallen under throughout the years is feminist literary
criticism. The definition of feminism given today states that it is the advocacy of women s rights
on the basis of the equality of the sexes, however, this is a broad definition that does not necessarily
encompass the feelings of this movement, feelings which can be found in the character of Hester
Prynne. Feminist literary criticism is the literary analysis that arises from the viewpoint of
feminism, feminist theory, and feminist politics. (Napikoski and Lewis, ThoughtCo.). While basic
feminist literary criticism falls under the categories of identifying with female characters and
reevaluating literature and the world in which literature is read, it can mean determining a literary
work s influence on feminism or vice versa,

51. Economic Impact Of The Clean Power Plan
This paper explores the economic impact the Clean Power Plan, as proposed by President Obama,
would have on the coal industry and on society as a whole. The plan, also known as the CPP, has a
goal of reducing carbon dioxide emissions by the year 2030. Many proponents of the coal industry
claim that the CPP would harm the United States economy with little positive impact on the
environment. The White House, other government agencies, scholarly organizations, and
organizations regarding the protection of human health and the environment dispute these claims,
stating that the CPP would actually lead to a net increase in employment, increased air quality, and
an overall healthier society, all while promoting the renewable energy sector. After analyzing the
data from both sides, it was determined in this paper that the overall benefits of the Clean Power
Plan outweigh the costs, therefore the plan should go forward as planned.
Introduction
On August 3, 2015, President Obama announced new carbon pollution standards for power plants
under the Clean Power Plan (CPP).[1] The purpose of the plan was to decrease carbon dioxide
(CO2) emissions to promote better air quality. This plan will impact not only coalfired power
plants and the coal industry, but also individuals who live around them and the greater populous.
This paper seeks to answer if such a plan should go forward and the impacts of such a plan on the
parties listed above. To answer this question, this paper will look

The overall theme in this speech unifies the whole speech. JFK s speech shows a theme of
progression. This is the perfect theme for an innaugural speech because the whole goal of the
country is to progress as a whole once a new president is elected. He shows this theme of rhetoric
in his quote, We observe today not a victory of party but a celebration of freedom symbolizing an
