Essay On Orphanage
Crafting an essay on the topic of orphanages presents a unique set of challenges that extend
beyond the ordinary boundaries of essay writing. The inherent emotional weight and societal
implications associated with orphanages require a delicate balance between empathy and
objectivity. To navigate this terrain successfully, one must delve into the complexities of the
subject matter, addressing not only the immediate concerns of orphaned children but also the
broader societal issues that contribute to the existence of orphanages.
Researching this topic demands a nuanced understanding of the various dimensions involved,
including the historical context, cultural perspectives, and legislative frameworks that shape the
orphanage landscape. Striking the right chord between shedding light on the challenges faced by
orphaned children and offering potential solutions requires a careful and thoughtful approach.
Moreover, the emotional toll of exploring the lives of these vulnerable individuals can be
emotionally taxing for the essay writer. The responsibility to convey the experiences of orphaned
children authentically while avoiding the pitfalls of sensationalism adds an extra layer of
difficulty.
Crafting a compelling essay on orphanages also necessitates a commitment to sensitivity and
ethical considerations. Balancing the need for advocacy with a respect for the privacy and
dignity of the individuals involved requires finesse.
In conclusion, writing an essay on orphanages is no ordinary task; it involves a delicate dance
between empathy and objectivity, a thorough exploration of historical and cultural contexts, and
a commitment to ethical storytelling. The writer must navigate the emotional complexities of the
subject matter while maintaining a focus on constructive solutions. It is a challenging
undertaking that demands not only writing skill but also a profound understanding of the human
condition.

The Environmental Crisis Of The Republican Party
Although many prominent politicians within the Republican Party continue to deny
its existence, Climate Change is real. Irrefutable scientific evidence proves the
earth is facing a serious environmental crisis, and the American public is taking
notice. According to the EPA, 61% of Americans recognize the current status of the
environment as an issue and believe action must be taken. Take action by voicing
your disapproval for HR 5078, which passed in the House this past week. Encourage
the Senate to kill this bill and protect America s lakes, streams, wetlands, and other
bodies of water. HR 5078 would prevent the Definition of Waters of the United States

HR 5078 Harms the American Public
According to the EPA, 117 million Americans drink water accessed water currently
protected by the CWA, 1/3 of them receiving their water from streams and wetlands.
With the passage of HR 5087, the protection of these waters will be compromised,
leading to an increase in water pollution. Typical ailments caused by ingesting or
touching polluted water can include body rashes, liver or stomach damage,
respiratory distress, and neurological defects. While the proposed WOTUS would
clarify how previously contested streams and wetlands are protected, HR 5087 bans
any new regulations or resolutions to be implemented. HR 5078 is a direct threat to
public health and water protection.
The Public Will Save Money
The transparency provided under WOTUS will allow businesses to confidently
invest in projects that require clean water, generating economic prosperity for both
businesses and the surrounding community. The newly streamlined process
created under WOTUS will save time and money when applying for permits to
dispose of dredge and fill material. HR 5087 eliminates this process, creating longer
waiting periods for permits. The new clarifications will eliminate the need for most
case by case rulings that previously delayed projects. EPA studied show an average
of $388 to $514 million will be saved per
Prelude Bellluxe
Prelude Belleluxe 1632 I am Rose Marseille. I live in Belleluxe, a tiny city with
many rich people within it. One of the rich families is my family, the Marseille s.
There s Mr. Jacob Marseille (father), Mrs. Mary Marseille (Mother); and my
siblings, William (15), Daisy (10), Charles (7), May (1), and Me (13). Along with
the arrogant Kellies; Lola and Lela (14), James (27), and John (16). The sweet
Scherbaums, and many others. However, there are unfortunately many poor
people too. Such as the gentle Gleasons, the helpful Hennrikus , and the wonderful
Wendermans. My friends are Grace Gleason; Haley (16), Hannah(15), Hattie(14),
and Hallie (13) Hennrikus; and Winifred Wenderman. Haley, Hannah, Hattie, and
Hallie have a brother named Henry (14). Winifred has three brothers named Walter
(15), Warren (13), and Wilson (10). Chapter One Friday Snoring sounds echoed
throughout the room. Rose, the oldest daughter from the Marseille household, fell
asleep in her private French class again. Rose, wake up! whispered my sister,
Daisy. Yeah, said Charles, the youngest, and not to mention the smallest child of
the five (after the baby). Young lady, if you snore any louder, you ll frighten Japan!
Explained Mr. Mazzola, the French teacher. Je suis dГ©solГ©, Monsieur Mazzola. I
said, my cheeks glowing like the color of a rose, embarrassed. C est d accord,
Mademoiselle Rose. Mr. Mazzola replied. Later that day, Daisy and I went to visit
Mrs. Clemons, the head cook. Hello, Mrs. Clemons! I exclaimed. Well, if it isn t
the Marseille girls! she exclaimed. How are you doing today? I asked. Good, merci!
She replied. De rien! I said, a big smile on my face. Do you have any pastries we
could taste test ? Daisy asked, the little she devil she can be. Yes, actually. I just
took out a fresh tray of Macarons for you two to try! Yay! Daisy yelled! While we
were eating the macarons, Daisy said we have a knitting and sewing class with
Madame Cary. Then have a cooking class with Madame Clemons. Then have a
reading and math class with our brothers and Monsieur Scherbaum. Then last, we
have an etiquette class with our brothers and Mademoiselle Sherrina. Such a long
The Poetic Experience Of Rite Of Spring
The Poetic Experience of Rite of Spring Poetry provides an experience, no matter
how the poet wishes to convey their message. Many poems have a clear rhyme
while other poems ignore rhyme and instead focus the on structure or style, this is
not the case for Rite of Spring by Seamus Heaney. Rite of Spring offers the reader
the experience of rhymeand rhythm, with four lines rhyming and a rhythm that is
noticeable throughout the entire poem. While rhyme is very important in the poem
(as well as the rhythm), imagery is also important in Rite of Spring . In addition,
rhyme, rhythm and imagery all help the personification in the poem become
enhanced, which achieves an experience that leaves the reader satisfied with what
they have read. Therefore, these elements of poetryare effectively used throughout the
poem, and leave a lasting experience to the reader. In this essay, I will seek to prove
that Rite of Spring provides an adequate use of poetic devices that adds to the overall
experience of the poem.
The first poetic device I noticed in Rite of Spring was the usage of rhyme. From
the first stanza to the last, the poem has a rhyme scheme. It follows an end rhyme
style, with the rhyme being at the end of a line. This allows for the experience of
rhyme to be expected in each stanza. The first three stanzas follow a rhyme style in
which the last two lines rhyme, seen in many modern and pre modern poems. This
rhyme has purpose throughout the poem, as the first three
Rise Of The Mafia Essay
It was during the troubled years of the 1860s that the Italian kingdom s ruling class
ruling class first heard talk of the mafia in Siciliy (Dickie, s38, 2004). In this quote
we find a potential reason to why the idea that the mafia was born during the making
of the modern Italian state has become leading with scholars. Most likely this event
shaped the mafiainto what it has become because of the political influence that the
Italian state bestowed upon Sicily. However, it is not unlikely that the mafia wasn t
already existing in Sicily during this time, and most definitely that criminal gangs of
Sicily before this time had traits that were transferred into the mafia as it evolved
under the new Italian kingdom. While the mafia is largely... Show more content on

Ermanno Sangiorgi was the police chief in Palermo at the time and he wrote an
extensive report on the mafia of Sicily between 1898 1900 that would be the basis
for the arrest and trial of 89 mafia members, among them Antonino Giammona.
However, due to the political landscape at the time, most were released and only 32
criminals were convicted of belonging to a criminal network, i.e. the mafia. One of
the people which Dickie points his fingers to as a possible villain in the story is
Vincenzo Cosenza, the chief prosecutor (Dickie 2004). Cosenza had written to the
new Minister of the Interior and declared, During the course of performing my
duties I have never noticed the mafia (Dickie, p110, 2004). This reveals a disturbing
fact concerning the relationship between the mafia and the Italian state, namely that
the mafia had already gained ground in the politics of the state and that the notion of
the non existing mafia became a leading viewpoint in Italian politics. The reason to
why this claim hold some validation is that the politicians, or higher ups, such as a
prosecutor, managed to influence a police case to the extent that leading Mafioso s
such as Antonino Giammona was released and could resume their
The Doors Opened by Reading
To say it was a dark and stormy night would be a gross understatement. It was
colder than a witch s kiss, wetter than a spring swamp, and blacker than a tax
collector s heart. A sane man would have been curled up in front of a fire, ........ but
not me. I was out in it. I m squire to a hero. The Last Knight by Hilari Bell is an awe
inspiring book that brings medieval tales to life. Being able to comprehend the
words written onto a piece of paper is a passion of mine. As a fan of mystical
literature I have been inspired by Christopher Paolini, an author, that taught me no
matter how young you are you can accomplish anything. My goal is to help share
the wonders of reading with others, inspire others as Christopher Paolini has me,
and to one day be able to share my writing with the world in hope it will bring joy
to others. I ve had the mundane book in my backpack for days now, reluctant to
open its drab cover. I should probably return it to the library and tell my teacher I
read it. Reading is overrated anyway so why bother? , was my initial reaction as I
picked up the colossal 700 page book in 4th grade . I hadn t much interest in the
humdrum book , leading me to look up a summary online. Instead of the plot

creator of the Inheritance cycleseries. Christopher started writing in high school

The Effect Of Foam Rolling On Decreasing Delayed Onset...
The following study Foam Rolling for Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness and
Recovery of Dynamic Performance Measures performed by Pearcey et.al studied
the effectiveness of foam rolling on decreasing delayed onset muscle soreness
(DOMS). DOMS can contribute greatly to the discomfort that a physically active
person experiences after an intense workout. According to Pearcey et. al (2015) the
intensity of DOMS increases within the first twenty four hours post exercise, peaks
between forty eight and seventy two hours, and subsides and eventually disappears
in five to seven days. The study was conducted using eight men in their early
twenties. The study used a repeated measure design method to test the effectiveness
of foam rolling the muscles of the lower extremities. The study tested the following
variables, pressure pain threshold of the quads, thirty meter sprint speed, broad jump
distance, change of direction speed, and dynamic strength endurance after
preforming the DOMS protocol. The DOMS protocol consist of 10x10 squats. All
participants in the study were both the experimental and control groups. The sessions
were separated by four weeks; the sessions were randomly assigned to the
participants. The testing sessions included an orientation with 1RM squat and
practice of each test, followed by four conditions four weeks apart. The participants
warmed up on the cycle ergometer then completed the DOMS protocol. Data was
analyzed using magnitude based inferences. Baker et.al
The Transnational History of a Chinese Family
Life as an Immigrant Beginning in the late 19th century and continuing to the early
20th century, many Chinese families struggled to gain social, economic, and
educational stature in both China and the United States. In the book, A Transnational
History of a Chinese Family, by Haiming Liu, we learn about the Chang familyrooted
in Kaiping County, China, who unlike many typical Chinese families exemplified
hard work and strong cultural values allowing them to pursue an exceptional Chinese
American lifestyle. Even with immigration laws preventing Chinese laborers and
citizens to enter unless maintaining merchant status, Yitang and Sam Chang managed
to sponsor approximately 40 relatives to the states with their businesses in herbalist...

These relationships he would later be able utilize in testimony when helping his
family migrate to the U.S, a key role in the economic success of the businesses. Like
we discussed in lecture, most Chinese immigrants were laborers and did not receive
many pleasant encounters with white men. Although Yitang was seen by many
Americans as a valuable Chinese immigrant, he and his family members still
received discrimination other immigrants had to face. Their thriving asparagus farm
did not have as many social benefits as the herbalist business did, but the farm was
their main source of income, and with this they were able to provide for their families
while living transnationally.
Once the Chang family moved into Los Angeles and had their herbalist shop and
asparagus farm under way, they realized the need for more laborers. In order to
support their wives and kids with groceries, clothing, and education, the Chang s
needed to find the cheapest labor possible while still establishing the farm as a
business that could support their income. The cheapest laborers were relatives, and
they were for the most part thankful to come and work for Yitang, even if it was not
their ideal working situation. One frustration Sam expressed in the book that may
correlate to the continuing poor treatment and vision of the Chinese, is that within the
Chinese workforce, most hard working laborers in the railroad, farming, mining, and
Benefits Of Implementing Business Intelligence Systems
Benefits of Implementing Business Intelligence Systems There are a variety of
benefits when it comes to implementing a business intelligence system. Because the
nature of business intelligence is to gather data about customers and analyze the
information possessed, it leads to the idea that business intelligencesystems can help
create better customer relationships. This is due to the fact that the company has a
better understanding of what their customers desire and therefore, are able to serve
them better. When customers are happy and their needs are fulfilled, the company is
able to create customer loyalty, in which customers feel confident in returning to a
company with their business because they know they can expect a pleasant
transaction. With customer loyalty and better customer relationships also comes an
improvement in sales. Customers frequently return to conduct business, as well as
alert others of the company via word of mouth. This can generate more revenue for
the company. However, there is another way that business intelligencesystems can
lead to an improvement of sales. Business intelligence can help companies determine
how to promote and advertise their products to potential customers. For example, in
the grocery industry, companies can promote certain products by sending out
coupons to their customers that are likely to purchase that item. When the customer
receives the coupon, they are more likely to purchase the item, whether or not they

Nutrition Insecurity
According to the World Health Organization, malnutrition is shortages, excesses or
disproportions in a person s intake of nutrients. It could also be referred to as when
the body does not have adequate nutrients in food due to health problems such as
diarrhea. This is a big issue developing nations where lack of clean water and poor
sanitation are common. Millions of children are affected by povertyall over the world,
and malnutritionhas become a serious problem for many communities (Finn, 2014). In
developing nations, many children do not have access to the well balanced, nutritious
food with the nutrients they need to develop properly. As a result, malnutrition can
lead to health problems and even death. Food insecurity has currently become the
main issue with malnutrition which is an indicator of either overnutrition or
undernutrition especially among the vulnerable group of people (Ihab, A., Rohana,
A., Manan, W, 2015). Global forces could contribute to malnutrition such as
environmental damage, advancement of technology, transportation of goods,
multinational corporation, lack of health information and social awareness that can
affect any child at any point in time as it remains a relevant risk factor for illness as
well as death around the world (Muller Krawinkel, 2005). Infant and children who
experience nutritioninsecurity may experience developmental delays, illness, and
academic challenges (Finn, 2004). Therefore, it is important for the policymakers a

Dark Matter and Dark Energy
Dark matter and dark energy are imperative links to the building blocks of our
universe, yet presently we know so little about them. In reality scientist know more of
what dark matter and dark energy could not be than what it could be. Dark matter and
dark energy are two utterly separate components, but work together as one unit. Dark
matteris what holds the universetogether, and dark energy is what draws the
universe apart. However without both dark matter and dark energy our universe
would not exist. Dark Matter is revealed in many ways and one example of dark
matter in action is how it holds our galaxies together. This is known because even
though dark matter does not emit or absorb light or electromagnetic radiation, it
does exert a gravitational force upon other galaxies, stellar clusters, and many other
substances through the universe. One example of how amazing dark matter is is
how it exerts a gravitational force upon stellar clusters. Stellar clusters are clusters of
individual stars that move at rapid speed that are gravitationally bound. But it has
been scientifically proven that the individual stars are moving too fast to be held
together by the gravitational attraction of other stars. In this case dark matter
provides the extra vigor that is needed.
Dark matter is a puzzling theory; we can not see it, hear it, or feel it yet some
astronomers declare that it exists. Astronomers are striving to find concrete evidence
for dark matter other than the
Buffy The Vampire Slayer Analysis
The tenth episode of season four of the show Buffy the Vampire Slayer is known as
one of the most interesting episodes of the show s entire screening. Over many years
of its showtime, Buffy has gained tremendous popularity. The show gained credibility
throughout the years since the pilot episode in 1997 and was even nominated for an
Emmy. The episode Hush includes an occasional antagonist who are formerly known
as The Gentlemen who take the voices of Sunnydale. Although the entire show is
known for its witty dialogue, this episode has very minimum lines of actual speech.
This choice of plot creates a clichГ© theme for the episode. The theme is Actions
speak louder than words. Hush however was much different from the classic Buffy
formula and took the fans of the show by surprise. In the episode Hush, the theme is
ironic because the characters deal with their problems more efficiently through their
actions than their words.
Buffy Summers and Riley Finn are one of many pairs of companions on the show.
Buffy and Riley communicate more when they cannot speak than when they have the
ability to speak. Within their early lines of dialogue, tension builds between the two
when neither could formally speak to one another about their feelings. However,
when they lose their voices during the rising conflict of the episode, they part with a
silent kiss. Buffy and Riley return to their awkward communication when they regain
their ability to speak. The comparison between when
Was Disney Justified In The Film Moana
Lately, three articles were reviewed for the film, Moana, depicting whether Disney
was being stereotypical and insensitive to the Polynesian culture. Many people think
that Disney was wrong in the depiction of the character s appearances, especially
relating to the demigod character, Maui. Disney was justified in creating the Moana
filmand was not culturally insensitive to the Polynesian people because Disney had
spent 5 years just getting the characters correct by Polynesian standard, they also
looked far and hard in order to get Polynesian voice actors and songwriters, and
finally, the Disney team took the time out of their lives in order to make the setting of
the movie as authentic as possible.

Article 3 states, Clements and Musker have been making trips to the Pacific
Islands including Samoa, Tahiti, Mo orea, and Fiji. Over time they created a
coalition of anthropologists, historians, choreographers, musicians, and linguists
called the Oceanic Trust. Together, this group helped to shape Moana and keep the
writing and design as authentic as possible. Moreover, this evidence shows Disney
had taken in a lot of accounts to get the setting of Moana very similar to what
Polynesian islands would look like. To add onto, the team took time out of their
lives just to go visit these foreign places, to make sure that their movie was perfect.
The team working on the Moana film not only accomplished their setting, but was
able to get the Polynesian setting so well that they even wowed the Polynesian
people working on the movie. In article 1 it states, They are making a film inspired
by my culture, the culture I had lived every day of my life and that is something
incredibly special for the rest of the world to see, Auli l says... Am I still grounded
and rooted in the way I want to be? And I can honestly say yes. Moreover, this
explains that Disney was able to get the reaction that they wanted from a
Polynesian audience. Furthermore, Disney was justified in the creation of this
movie because it was said by a Polynesian person Am I still grounded and rooted in
the way I want to be? And I can honestly say I am and this is relating back to the
fact that the movie was able to ground her in her culture. To put into finality, Disney
was justified in the creation of the film, Moana because of use of the time that was
taken out of their lives in order to get this movie

Miami is one of the most popular cities visited by all types of tourists from around
the world. Visitors mainly travel by air and arrive at Miami International Airport. In
2016, Miami welcomed 15.7 million overnight visitors (i.e. tourists) from around the
world. Those tourists spent $25 billion, with 70% of that money coming from
international visitors (Mody, 2017). Many people also embark on cruises from
PortMiami to destinations around the world. Whether the visitor is coming to spend

Thematic Connection
Thematic Connections between A Separate Peace and Of Mice and Men
Historically speaking, prominent people have always been influenced by those they
surround themselves with. In Islamic empires, sultans had spoken through their
grand viziers. Throughout American history, presidents have been advised by their
cabinets, and with monarchies, kings have listened to their advisors. While
important people or rulers are especially influenced by their peers with important
rulers, this is also true for the everyday people, and this is the case with A Separate
Peace as well as Of Mice and Men. A Separate Peace is a historical fiction novel

Because of the similar relationships between the main characters, there are multiple
thematic connections between the stories. In both tales, the themes that a person s
identity is intricately intertwined with his/her friends and that a person s friends can
often dictate a person s actions are illustrated.
Considering how the two sets of main characters personalities are impacted by each
other, both stories feature a common theme that a person s identity can become
intimately woven with his/her friends. With A Separate Peace, Gene was
essentially just an extension of Finny. After Finny shattered his leg, Gene took on
Finny s dreams, and Finny even practically lived through him. Gene even
embodied Finny s identity when he wanted to forget about himself. Because of this,
when Finny died, Gene was shaken to his core. When describing how he reacted to
Finny s death, Gene states solemnly, I did not cry then or ever about Finny. I did
not even cry when I stood watching him being lowered into his family s straight

Introduction
Decision making is an act that every individual practices as part of daily life, both in
their professional and personal interactions. Decision making is traditionally
recognised as being comprised of two parts; the emotional and the rational. Emotion
is an experience that affects individuals to varying degrees and is vital to human
survival. For example if humans
Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness Through a
Freudian Lens
Without personal access to authors, readers are left to themselves to interpret
literature. This can become challenging with more difficult texts, such as Joseph
Conrad s novella Heart of Darkness. Fortunately, literary audiences are not
abandoned to flounder in pieces such as this; active readers may look through many
different lenses to see possible meanings in a work. For example, Conrad s Heart of
Darknessmay be deciphered with a post colonial, feminist, or archetypal mindset, or
analyzed with Freudian psycho analytic theory. The latter two would effectively
reveal the greater roles of Kurtz and Marlow as the id and the ego, respectively, and
offer the opportunity to draw a conclusion about the work as a whole. Sigmund Freuds

His European influenced judgements of many of the things he sees such as the
valley of death, where Marlow stands horror struck (Conrad 84), and the pilgrims
little fun with the Winchesters as the boat departs Kurtz s Inner Station are not
shared by anyone around him (151). His active super ego allows Marlow to
impose European moral codes over himself in and his perceptions of Africa.
Others, all of whom lack such a faculty, lost when they entered Africa what
civilization they possessed in Europe. Throughout his time in Africa, Marlow is
able to adhere to the demands of his super ego, and this affects his friends
perception of him when he returns to England. They are only human, while Marlow
seems to have transcended his humanity: he [sits] apart from them, indistinct and
silent, like a meditating Buddha (164). His account of the time before his departure
for Africa indicates that he too was simply human at that time; he became Buddha
like sometime in the course of his travels. The point of his ascention from humanity
is clear when another method of interpretation is applied. When Marlow and Kurtz
are viewed as archetypes of the ego and the id, the story as a whole takes on a
greater metaphorical meaning. Marlow s journey is not to Africa; he travels into his
own mind, and the forest is his unconscious. Marlow sets out to discover and
Strange Fruit Symbolism

Strange Fruit by Billie Holiday is a song that s known for it s haunting imagery of the
Jim Crow era in the south, as well as it s riveting performance by Holiday. It s been
famously covered by Nina Simone and others like Diana Ross, prior to that the
song we know and love was first a poem originally published in 1937. Penned by
school teacher Abel Meeropol, it was shipped around for years (performed by
himself, his wife, and vocalist Laura Duncan in Madison Square Garden, for
instance) before finally landing in the hands of Billie Holiday. Holiday preceded to
record it backed by piano performed by Sonny White, eventually the song finally

Pros And Cons Of Asian Americans
As far as I am concerned, Asian American has a long history in the United States. In
1984, President Ronald Reagan paid them a compliment for succeed in achieving the
American Dream. He said that if you are industrious you will be successful whoever
you are in America (Takaki, 1995). Although Asian American suffered a lot from
prejudice and discrimination, they are the highest income, best educated and fastest
growing racial group in the United States. They are more contented than the general
public with their lives, funding and the direction of the country, and they place more
value than other Americans do in wedding parenthood, hard working, and profitable
of profession.(Pew Research Center,2012) This report caught a lot of interest in the
press. However, many Asian Americaninstitutions and commentators showed
disapprove of those things. They maintained that the report was not exact and bias,
and that it furthermore perpetuated the model minority myth, donating to the
formation of Asian Americans as an inconspicuous or forgotten minority. Personally, I
suppose that model minority stereotype does bring both benefits and drawbacks to
Asian American. However, model minority stereotype do more harm than merit.

What Caused The Russian Revolution
Without the Russian Revolution, a large part of the 20th century would be missing.
The Revolution had spawned the soviet union and the communist party, which
brought the world a new way of thinking about government, society and the
economy. But it also brought fear to capitalist nations. Around the beginning of the
20th century, Moscow and Petrograd experienced rises in the population. This was
due to many fleeing for the city, because of famine and overcharge in land.
Thousands were unemployed and the employed worked long hours for low pay,
with abusive bosses and dangerous working conditions. The others, who were
drafted to fight, weren t doing to well either. They lacked good leadership and only
one third of the soldiers carried weapons, while the other tried to find ones among
the dead bodies of the battlefield. This led to the Russians disapproving of the war,
and refugees fleeing to the cities, creating more overpopulation. (the Russian

Lenin rose to power, he started a civil war between the Bolsheviks and the

In John Locke s State of Nature, it states that if there is a long line of misuses, then
they are justified to revolt (Locke). The Russians were in poverty and being
neglected by Tsar Nicholas II. they also had landowners overcharging them for land
and abusive bosses. Many didn t have jobs and were fleeing to the city, which led to
overpopulation. The army didn t have enough weapons, and they had poor leadership.
Whenever asked about these issues, Tsar Nicholas II would brush it off. This gave
them the right to revolt. (the Russian

Coffee was the top source of income for 25 million farmers in Latin America, Africa
and Asia. Due to the lack of appropriate compensation for their harvest, communities
in coffee producing countries around the world are suffering. Coffee is a chief export
for many developing nations and their entire economies are collapsing with the
market. In 2004 the governments of coffee producing countries were adamant in
finding the answer to the dramatic decline in coffee prices.

Its flavor is substantially different than the flavor of arabica coffee, which is
generally more favorable and considered to be better coffee. It is used extensively in
blended coffees with arabica, though, and one of the effects of the current coffee
crisis is that the overabundance of robusto on the market is encouraging many
companies to increase the amount of robusto coffee that goes into their blends.
Second, and more importantly, with income from producing coffee not even
covering the expenses of growing it, the growers are forced to sacrifice quality in
order to reap the highest possible prices. Robusto coffee yields far more coffee per
acre of land than arabica coffee. Growing sun coffee rather than the better tasting
but more labor intensive shade grown coffee also yields more product and thus,
more profit. The low prices also encourage producers to rush through picking,
including underripe and overripe berries in the harvest because they can no longer
afford to pay for three separate pickings of the crop.
Fair Trade coffees are only one of the solutions being suggested for the current
coffee crisis. While Fair Trade guarantees a floor price for raw coffee sold by coffee
cooperatives, it is only one part of a comprehensive strategy to stabilize coffee
prices at a level that will continue in supporting its growers. Another is the adoption
of a set of quality standards for buyers. Both the UN and the ICO
Solar Energy As A Alternative Energy Source
Introduction The concept of solar energy is not a new one. We have seen it in
practice from solar powered calculators, garden lights, watches, and a wide variety
of other novelty products. However, the idea of solar energy as a sustainable,
renewable form of electricity, is on another level completely. Solar energy is one of
the most popular and fastest growing sources of alternative energynot only in the
country, but in the world.
Solar energy is the conversion of power from the sun to usable electricity (Alternative
Energy, 2014). The most common source of solar energy utilizes photovoltaic cells to
convert sunlight into electricity (Alternative Energy, 2014). Photovoltaics use a semi
conductor to absorb the radiation from the sun, creating and emitting electrons, which
are then harnessed and used as electricity (Alternative Energy, 2014).
Pros of Solar Energy Solar energy is a renewable energy source, which means that
unlike non renewable energy sources such as fossil fuels, coal, and nuclear energy,
we cannot run out of solar energy (Maehlum, 2014). As long as the sun is alive,
which according to NASA is another 6.5 billion years, we will have access to solar
energy (Maehlum, 2014). The true potential of solar energy is astounding and overly
abundant. The surface of Earth receives 120,000 terawatts of solar radiation, better
known as sunlight, which is 20,000 times more energy than what is needed to supply
power to the entire world (Maehlum, 2014).
Solar energy is
Eminent Domain Paper
When Should Eminent Domain be Used?
When should a city or state use their eminent domain powers? Over the past few
years there have been a couple of cases that raised the questions of when eminent
domain should be used. One of the most controversial cases in the history of the
United States was the Kelo v New
London Supreme Court ruling. In order to generate tax revenue, add jobs, and to
prevent bankruptcy, the government s right to initiate eminent domain for public good
is a necessary evil.
Eminent domain in definition is the right or power of public purposes without the
owner s consent on payment of just compensation ( Eminent Domain History ).

Which would cause the city to grow and that would provide more money to the
government with the increased tax revenue from all of the new families. This could
create more jobs, because more companies might be interested in locating there due
to all of the growth. Eminent domain should also be used by a city or state if it
prevents it from going bankrupt.
A city or state should use eminent domain if it prevents it from going bankrupt. If
a city is near bankrupt then it cannot provide all of the necessary items that a city
needs in order to run like it is supposed to. For example, if a city is short of funds
then it would have to reduce its budget in places that would harm the city. It would
have to cut money from the police, and fire departments. However, by using their
eminent domain powers a city could keep all of this from happening by letting a
business come that would create thousands in tax dollars, and add jobs to the city.
This means that a reduction in the police and fire departments would not happen and
the city would still run smoothly.
The cities and states that use eminent domain to acquire land in order to keep
themselves running smoothly is sad; however, these cities and states are looking
out for what is best for their areas. These cities and states are not trying to make
families move out of their homes in order to earn a quick dollar. These cities and

Role of the Nurse in Health Promotion Essay
Introduction
Health promotion includes providing activities that improve a person s health.
These activities assist patients to maintain or enhance their present levels of health.
Health promotion activities motivate people to act positively to reach more stable
levels of health (Potter Perry, 2005, p. 97). In order for nurses to assist patients in
obtaining healthy lifestyles, they must first assess a patient s perception of health.
The World Health Organization defines health as a state of complete physical,
mental, and social well being, not merely the absence of disease or infirmity (as
cited in Potter Perry, 2005, p. 91). There are many nursing theories that are based on
an individual s perception of health. This paper will ... Show more content on

92). The HPM reflects how an individuals previous life experiences influence their
future behavior (Potter Perry, 2005). The Transtheoretical Model of Behavior
Change (TTM) was created by Prochaska and DiClemente. It is based on (1) the
stages of change, (2) the decisional balance scale, (3) the strong and weak principle,
(4) self efficacy, and (5) the processes of change (Kelly, 2008, p. 149). A person s
progression through the stages depends on their perception of the advantages of
adopting a healthy lifestyle (Kelly, 2008).
The Commitment to Health (CTH) theory was established as a supplement to the
TTM and helps to identify, how early health behavior activities become lifelong
behavior change (Kelly, 2008, p.148). Kelly (2008) describes CTH as a middle
range theory in her article. Middle range theories are theories that have more
limited scope, less abstraction, address specific phenomena or concepts and reflect
practice (Potter and Perry, 2005, p. 63). Kelly (2008) believes that CTH can be used
to help create evidence based health promotion plans for patients in the action stage of
behavior change.
Patient Health Promotion
Most people understand that an unhealthy lifestyle can lead to poor health, but their
ability to make a change and modify their existing unhealthy behaviors can be
difficult. Nurses have an opportunity to identify patients who are in need of
motivational assistance in their practice.

1. How does Sassoon show the depression of the young soldier?
The depression of the young soldier before he commits suicide is clearly displayed
in the poem.
At the start of the poem, the image of a happy, young, and perhaps rather naГЇve boy
is placed before us;
Simple tells us that he is innocent, perhaps rather naГЇve, and doesn t understand the
concept of war.
Grinned at life in empty joy suggests to us that he was pleased by anything, a happy
carefree young man. He was young and had no worries because he enjoyed life and
did as he pleased. He made life seem easy and happy even when times were bad. It
also given us a notion of how immature the boy turned into a soldier and sent to war
must have been.
Slept soundly through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The structure of the poem also adds to the stark change the boy has suffered
throughout the war. Sassoon uses the same structure that a children s rhyme usually
has, and this is perhaps intended to emphasize that this boy, turned into a soldier and
driven to suicide, was still just a boy.
The depression of the young soldier is also shown to be shared by many; the eye
catching title Suicide in the Trenches is evidence of this fact. The word trenches
further emphasizes that the depression the young soldier feels is felt throughout all
the trenches, and therefore many others in war.
The juxtaposition between the first two stanzas adds to the effect intended upon the
reader by Siegfried Sassoon. He wants us to feel the harsh reality of war; cold,
unjust, harsh and depressing, and the image of a happy young man driven to suicide
by war certainly emphasizes this point. This jarring contrast makes the boy s death a
lot sadder and brings out sympathy in the reader.
2. What is Sassoon s view of the crowds which greet the soldiers on their return from
the trenches?
The last stanza is very effective in displaying Sassoon s view of the crowds.
Throughout this stanza a bitter, sarcastic, sneering and rather angry tone is used;
You smug faced crowds The use of you makes the reader feel as if Sassoon is
addressing the reader, naming us all guilty of the smug faced cheering and clapping

Recitatif On Racial Essay
Recitatif on Racial
Racism or rather racial is a theme that clearly comes out and captures the mind of
every reader upon reading the short story Recitatif by Toni Morrison. The short
story starts by bringing two young girls Roberta and Twyla who meet one another
in the children s orphanage. From the outset, it is clear that either of the girls is
white or black. When the two girls were young, they were not conscious about the
color of their skin, however, as they age; the contrast in personality brings about
separation. The two articles by Bennet Toni Morrison and the burden of the passing
narrative and Stanley Maggie in Toni Morrison s Recitatif plainly explains about
Racism as brought out by Toni Morrison. However, they underestimate the status of
the book by restricting the short story in its racial context. Therefore, my goal is to
examine racism in a different perspective rather than what the two readers weighed.
Racial in the book can be used to decode racial identity in the story. At first, the two
major characters are formed by their racial differences and Morrison doesn t disclose

At first, what preoccupies Twyla is the significance racial ambiguity of Maggie; the
racial thing is what troubles her. Eventually, the uncertainty of Twyla has revealed
that it is not all about the race of Maggie but the important truth done against the
disabled. Maggie is racially indeterminate; however, her position as disabled places
her in a situation where violence can be done to her, violence without the outcomes
to others. This is to elide that specificity of different positions such as race, and
poverty has an imposition to the dominant gaze. Also, the final statement of Roberta
words is to show that it s not about the race of Maggie, but about her fate and the
real impact of her physical
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in Literature
Wars will affect everyone in the countries that are fighting, but nobody more than
the soldiers. This is true for all wars, but especially World War I because at the time
it was the largest war the world had ever seen. Young men from all over were sent
to the frontlines to be killed in the trenches or in the open fields. Over 8.5 million
men ended up dying during the Great War , changing the lives of many people. The
families of the men lost their family member, children lost their fathers, and many
men lost their lives. Some soldiers who didn t die would return very different from
when they left because of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder(PTSD). The perspective
of some soldiers as well as the life changing events that took place in their lives are
shown through the novel All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque,
The Soldier by Rupert Brooke, and The Man He Killed by Thomas Hardy. In All
Quiet on the Western Front, the main character is Paul Bäumer. Before the war he
was a very lively and happy young man, but after fighting he changes and starts to
feel much depressed. Throughout the book, Paul changes from a compassionate,
sensitive young man into a less joyful person. This detachment from his feelings and
emotions are caused by the horrors he witnessed during the war and the anxiety that
it brought him. As a result of the war, he is unable to feel at home among his family
and cannot talk about his experiences in the war. One of the most powerful moments

Should Public Transportation Should Be Made Free In The...
Imagine being lost in New York City. Where would you go? My first instinct would
be to hail a taxi or get on a train or subway and take it somewhere familiar to me.
What if you had no money, then what would you do? I don t know what I would
do. You can t take public transportation without money, but you should be able to.
Even if you weren t lost, and you had somewhere to go, what would you do? So
many people are unable to afford public transportation, that they are just not able to
get around, and get to where they need to go, like to work or to an event. If public
transportation were to be made free, people who can t afford a train ticket would
now be able to get around. Moreover, despite the obvious benefits, there would be no
more crazy city car traffic. This would help to conserve the environment, and to create
a safer and healthier environment. Therefore, public transportation should in fact be
made free in the United States.
Issues regarding public transportation have been an ongoing debate since the 1950s.
In the 1950s, African Americans were discriminated against; They were not able to to
ride in the front of the bus and had to give up their seat for a white person. For
example, Rosa Parks sparked much debate and controversy when she refused to
give her seat up for a white person. This led to the Montgomery Bus Boycott, when
blacks refused to ride public busses at all. Now, Social Justice advocate, Tyler Falk
states: While African Americans are no longer required

Preparing A Homeschool Lesson Plan
Many homeschool families choose to learn the lessons that are necessary without
the use of text books or worksheets. Many use the lesson plan approach of
homeschooling. A lesson plan usually takes one or more weeks to complete. It
encompasses all, or most, or the subjects that a normal school day covers: math,
science, history, language arts, writing, and art. Using lesson plans is often more
enjoyable that doing straight reading and answering questions from a textbook.
While it may seem very confusing, building a quality lesson plan is actually not

They share nice chemistry with each other. It s fun to watch when Blake taught Acer

The main antagonist, Farrall, is actually underwritten. He s definitely a worthy
adversary and the audience finds him to be despicable, but he goes missing from the
story after the murder and only comes back at the very end. Thus, he s not a very
consistent or relentless foe.
The dialogue is solid in that it s authentic to the culture and time. The dialogue reveals
information about the characters and their values and motivation. However, the script
does seem to rely a bit too much on dialogue, which also hinders the pace.
To sustain the tension the story offers various obstacles, but as mentioned, it slows
the pace and it s not directly connected with the main goal making the structure feel

One would have rather have watched Blake and Acer track down the men responsible
for the family s death, one by one and get their revenge while overcoming obstacles.
Thus, in summary, the challenge in creating a compelling western is to find a new
hook to a familiar plotline. There might be something new about the characters that
help create a more refreshing hook. Try to create original
18th Century American Slave Trade
History has proven in many points has proven that growth within a country is trade,
and a market. As countries grow the population demands different goods, and some
become more valued than others. Some countries grow into vast empires, because of
the economy built around these trades. The Netherlands and Portugal became great
empires, due to the importance of trade, slave trade, and companies that helped power
trade.
Different trade goods create different economies, and different industries. Some of
these industries could be as simple as textile manufacturing, sugar refining, and some
type form a movement to developing a homegrown Tobacco. Each of these industries
helped push a golden age upon the Dutch Empire. The top trade good, was textiles;
after warfare between different city states the textile industry exploded, the growth so
large that the Dutch had to import English wool. The second largest industry was the
sugar refinery, which resulted from colonial conquest, of the Caribbean. Once the
Atlantic sugar islands began to surpass Mediterranean sugar production. Once

Dbq Essay On The Renaissance
The Renaissance was a period of renewed interest in the Classical World and new
understandings. The term Renaissance means the rebirth of the Classical world,
which brought new ideas, understandings and new ways of doing things, and a
progression from the Medieval way of thinking. The traditions of Ancient Greek and
Rome had a dramatic impact on the way people thought in the Renaissance. This was
evident in the areas of art and architecture, Science and the philosophy of humanism.
During the Renaissance new ideas were gained and the values and features of the
Classical World were brought back through art and architecture. Before the
Renaissance began, art and architecture was done inside the church and was mostly

the values of people and the world. With people enjoying life rather than treating it
as a sufferance people started to explore the Classical World, which had a significant
influence on the way people thought about the world and humans. Giannozzo Manetti
says that the world in indeed created by god, but humankind has changed and
improved it , which is saying that the world was created by god but without us
humans, it wouldn t be the same nor as pleasant (1396 1459). Source B says people

Radical Islamic terrorism do not just affect the american citizens, but also the
Muslim and non radicalized Islams trying to legally enter the country and those of
them that are already citizens, and creates prejudice against middle eastern people all
over the world because of

Irrefutable scientific evidence proves the earth is facing a serious environmental crisis, and the American public is taking notice. According to the EPA, 61% of Americans recognize the current status of the environment as an issue and believe action must be taken. Take action by voicing your disapproval for HR 5078, which passed in the House this past week. HR 5078 Harms the American Public According to the EPA, 117 million Americans drink water accessed water currently protected by the CWA, 1/3 of them receiving their water from streams and wetlands. With the passage of HR 5087, the protection of these waters will be compromised, leading to an increase in water pollution. Typical ailments caused by ingesting or touching polluted water can include body rashes, liver or stomach damage, respiratory distress, and neurological defects. While the proposed WOTUS would clarify how previously contested streams and wetlands are protected, HR 5087 bans any new regulations or resolutions to be implemented. HR 5078 is a direct threat to public health and water protection. The Public Will Save Money The transparency provided under WOTUS will allow businesses to confidently invest in projects that require clean water, generating economic prosperity for both businesses and the surrounding community. The newly streamlined process created under WOTUS will save time and money when applying for permits to dispose of dredge and fill material. HR 5087 eliminates this process, creating longer waiting periods for permits. The new clarifications will eliminate the need for most case by case rulings that previously delayed projects. EPA studied show an average of $388 to $514 million will be saved per
  • 3. Prelude Bellluxe Prelude Belleluxe 1632 I am Rose Marseille. I live in Belleluxe, a tiny city with many rich people within it. One of the rich families is my family, the Marseille s. There s Mr. Jacob Marseille (father), Mrs. Mary Marseille (Mother); and my siblings, William (15), Daisy (10), Charles (7), May (1), and Me (13). Along with the arrogant Kellies; Lola and Lela (14), James (27), and John (16). The sweet Scherbaums, and many others. However, there are unfortunately many poor people too. Such as the gentle Gleasons, the helpful Hennrikus , and the wonderful Wendermans. My friends are Grace Gleason; Haley (16), Hannah(15), Hattie(14), and Hallie (13) Hennrikus; and Winifred Wenderman. Haley, Hannah, Hattie, and Hallie have a brother named Henry (14). Winifred has three brothers named Walter (15), Warren (13), and Wilson (10). Chapter One Friday Snoring sounds echoed throughout the room. Rose, the oldest daughter from the Marseille household, fell asleep in her private French class again. Rose, wake up! whispered my sister, Daisy. Yeah, said Charles, the youngest, and not to mention the smallest child of the five (after the baby). Young lady, if you snore any louder, you ll frighten Japan! Explained Mr. Mazzola, the French teacher. Je suis dГ©solГ©, Monsieur Mazzola. I said, my cheeks glowing like the color of a rose, embarrassed. C est d accord, Mademoiselle Rose. Mr. Mazzola replied. Later that day, Daisy and I went to visit Mrs. Clemons, the head cook. Hello, Mrs. Clemons! I exclaimed. Well, if it isn t the Marseille girls! she exclaimed. How are you doing today? I asked. Good, merci! She replied. De rien! I said, a big smile on my face. Do you have any pastries we could taste test ? Daisy asked, the little she devil she can be. Yes, actually. I just took out a fresh tray of Macarons for you two to try! Yay! Daisy yelled! While we were eating the macarons, Daisy said we have a knitting and sewing class with Madame Cary. Then have a cooking class with Madame Clemons. Then have a reading and math class with our brothers and Monsieur Scherbaum. Then last, we have an etiquette class with our brothers and Mademoiselle Sherrina. Such a long

Many poems have a clear rhyme while other poems ignore rhyme and instead focus the on structure or style, this is not the case for Rite of Spring by Seamus Heaney. Rite of Spring offers the reader the experience of rhymeand rhythm, with four lines rhyming and a rhythm that is noticeable throughout the entire poem. While rhyme is very important in the poem (as well as the rhythm), imagery is also important in Rite of Spring . In addition, rhyme, rhythm and imagery all help the personification in the poem become enhanced, which achieves an experience that leaves the reader satisfied with what they have read. Therefore, these elements of poetryare effectively used throughout the poem, and leave a lasting experience to the reader. In this essay, I will seek to prove that Rite of Spring provides an adequate use of poetic devices that adds to the overall experience of the poem. The first poetic device I noticed in Rite of Spring was the usage of rhyme. From the first stanza to the last, the poem has a rhyme scheme. It follows an end rhyme style, with the rhyme being at the end of a line. This allows for the experience of rhyme to be expected in each stanza. The first three stanzas follow a rhyme style in which the last two lines rhyme, seen in many modern and pre modern poems. This rhyme has purpose throughout the poem, as the first three
  • 5. Rise Of The Mafia Essay It was during the troubled years of the 1860s that the Italian kingdom s ruling class ruling class first heard talk of the mafia in Siciliy (Dickie, s38, 2004). In this quote we find a potential reason to why the idea that the mafia was born during the making of the modern Italian state has become leading with scholars. Most likely this event shaped the mafiainto what it has become because of the political influence that the Italian state bestowed upon Sicily. However, it is not unlikely that the mafia wasn t already existing in Sicily during this time, and most definitely that criminal gangs of Sicily before this time had traits that were transferred into the mafia as it evolved under the new Italian kingdom. Ermanno Sangiorgi was the police chief in Palermo at the time and he wrote an extensive report on the mafia of Sicily between 1898 1900 that would be the basis for the arrest and trial of 89 mafia members, among them Antonino Giammona. However, due to the political landscape at the time, most were released and only 32 criminals were convicted of belonging to a criminal network, i.e. the mafia. One of the people which Dickie points his fingers to as a possible villain in the story is Vincenzo Cosenza, the chief prosecutor (Dickie 2004). Cosenza had written to the new Minister of the Interior and declared, During the course of performing my duties I have never noticed the mafia (Dickie, p110, 2004). This reveals a disturbing fact concerning the relationship between the mafia and the Italian state, namely that the mafia had already gained ground in the politics of the state and that the notion of the non existing mafia became a leading viewpoint in Italian politics. The reason to why this claim hold some validation is that the politicians, or higher ups, such as a prosecutor, managed to influence a police case to the extent that leading Mafioso s such as Antonino Giammona was released and could resume their

According to Pearcey et. al (2015) the intensity of DOMS increases within the first twenty four hours post exercise, peaks between forty eight and seventy two hours, and subsides and eventually disappears in five to seven days. Although Yitang was seen by many Americans as a valuable Chinese immigrant, he and his family members still received discrimination other immigrants had to face. Their thriving asparagus farm did not have as many social benefits as the herbalist business did, but the farm was their main source of income, and with this they were able to provide for their families while living transnationally. Benefits Of Implementing Business Intelligence Systems Benefits of Implementing Business Intelligence Systems There are a variety of benefits when it comes to implementing a business intelligence system. Because the nature of business intelligence is to gather data about customers and analyze the information possessed, it leads to the idea that business intelligencesystems can help create better customer relationships. This is due to the fact that the company has a better understanding of what their customers desire and therefore, are able to serve them better. When customers are happy and their needs are fulfilled, the company is able to create customer loyalty, in which customers feel confident in returning to a company with their business because they know they can expect a pleasant transaction. With customer loyalty and better customer relationships also comes an improvement in sales. Customers frequently return to conduct business, as well as alert others of the company via word of mouth. This can generate more revenue for the company. However, there is another way that business intelligencesystems can lead to an improvement of sales. Business intelligence can help companies determine how to promote and advertise their products to potential customers. For example, in the grocery industry, companies can promote certain products by sending out coupons to their customers that are likely to purchase that item. When the customer receives the coupon, they are more likely to purchase the item, whether or not they had

It could also be referred to as when the body does not have adequate nutrients in food due to health problems such as diarrhea. This is a big issue developing nations where lack of clean water and poor sanitation are common. Millions of children are affected by povertyall over the world, and malnutritionhas become a serious problem for many communities (Finn, 2014). In developing nations, many children do not have access to the well balanced, nutritious food with the nutrients they need to develop properly. Food insecurity has currently become the main issue with malnutrition which is an indicator of either overnutrition or undernutrition especially among the vulnerable group of people (Ihab, A., Rohana, A., Manan, W, 2015). Global forces could contribute to malnutrition such as environmental damage, advancement of technology, transportation of goods, multinational corporation, lack of health information and social awareness that can affect any child at any point in time as it remains a relevant risk factor for illness as well as death around the world (Muller Krawinkel, 2005). In reality scientist know more of what dark matter and dark energy could not be than what it could be. Dark matter and dark energy are two utterly separate components, but work together as one unit. Dark matteris what holds the universetogether, and dark energy is what draws the universe apart. However without both dark matter and dark energy our universe would not exist. Dark Matter is revealed in many ways and one example of dark matter in action is how it holds our galaxies together. This is known because even though dark matter does not emit or absorb light or electromagnetic radiation, it does exert a gravitational force upon other galaxies, stellar clusters, and many other substances through the universe. One example of how amazing dark matter is is how it exerts a gravitational force upon stellar clusters. Stellar clusters are clusters of individual stars that move at rapid speed that are gravitationally bound. But it has been scientifically proven that the individual stars are moving too fast to be held together by the gravitational attraction of other stars. In this case dark matter provides the extra vigor that is needed. Dark matter is a puzzling theory; we can not see it, hear it, or feel it yet some astronomers declare that it exists. Astronomers are striving to find concrete evidence for dark matter other than the

It is used extensively in blended coffees with arabica, though, and one of the effects of the current coffee crisis is that the overabundance of robusto on the market is encouraging many companies to increase the amount of robusto coffee that goes into their blends. Second, and more importantly, with income from producing coffee not even covering the expenses of growing it, the growers are forced to sacrifice quality in order to reap the highest possible prices. Robusto coffee yields far more coffee per acre of land than arabica coffee. Growing sun coffee rather than the better tasting but more labor intensive shade grown coffee also yields more product and thus, more profit. The low prices also encourage producers to rush through picking, including underripe and overripe berries in the harvest because they can no longer afford to pay for three separate pickings of the crop. • 25. Solar Energy As A Alternative Energy Source Introduction The concept of solar energy is not a new one. We have seen it in practice from solar powered calculators, garden lights, watches, and a wide variety of other novelty products. However, the idea of solar energy as a sustainable, renewable form of electricity, is on another level completely. Solar energy is one of the most popular and fastest growing sources of alternative energynot only in the country, but in the world. Solar energy is the conversion of power from the sun to usable electricity (Alternative Energy, 2014). The most common source of solar energy utilizes photovoltaic cells to convert sunlight into electricity (Alternative Energy, 2014). Photovoltaics use a semi conductor to absorb the radiation from the sun, creating and emitting electrons, which are then harnessed and used as electricity (Alternative Energy, 2014). Pros of Solar Energy Solar energy is a renewable energy source, which means that unlike non renewable energy sources such as fossil fuels, coal, and nuclear energy, we cannot run out of solar energy (Maehlum, 2014). As long as the sun is alive, which according to NASA is another 6.5 billion years, we will have access to solar energy (Maehlum, 2014). The true potential of solar energy is astounding and overly abundant. The surface of Earth receives 120,000 terawatts of solar radiation, better known as sunlight, which is 20,000 times more energy than what is needed to supply power to the entire world (Maehlum, 2014). Solar energy is
  • 26. Eminent Domain Paper When Should Eminent Domain be Used? When should a city or state use their eminent domain powers? Over the past few years there have been a couple of cases that raised the questions of when eminent domain should be used. One of the most controversial cases in the history of the United States was the Kelo v New London Supreme Court ruling. In order to generate tax revenue, add jobs, and to prevent bankruptcy, the government s right to initiate eminent domain for public good is a necessary evil. Eminent domain in definition is the right or power of public purposes without the owner s consent on payment of just compensation ( Eminent Domain History ). Which would cause the city to grow and that would provide more money to the government with the increased tax revenue from all of the new families. This could create more jobs, because more companies might be interested in locating there due to all of the growth. Eminent domain should also be used by a city or state if it prevents it from going bankrupt. A city or state should use eminent domain if it prevents it from going bankrupt. If a city is near bankrupt then it cannot provide all of the necessary items that a city needs in order to run like it is supposed to. For example, if a city is short of funds then it would have to reduce its budget in places that would harm the city. It would have to cut money from the police, and fire departments. However, by using their eminent domain powers a city could keep all of this from happening by letting a business come that would create thousands in tax dollars, and add jobs to the city. This means that a reduction in the police and fire departments would not happen and the city would still run smoothly. The cities and states that use eminent domain to acquire land in order to keep themselves running smoothly is sad; however, these cities and states are looking out for what is best for their areas. These cities and states are not trying to make families move out of their homes in order to earn a quick dollar. These cities and states are only
  • 27. Role of the Nurse in Health Promotion Essay Introduction Health promotion includes providing activities that improve a person s health. These activities assist patients to maintain or enhance their present levels of health. Health promotion activities motivate people to act positively to reach more stable levels of health (Potter Perry, 2005, p. 97). In order for nurses to assist patients in obtaining healthy lifestyles, they must first assess a patient s perception of health. The World Health Organization defines health as a state of complete physical, mental, and social well being, not merely the absence of disease or infirmity (as cited in Potter Perry, 2005, p. 91). There are many nursing theories that are based on an individual s perception of health. This paper will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 92). The HPM reflects how an individuals previous life experiences influence their future behavior (Potter Perry, 2005). The Transtheoretical Model of Behavior Change (TTM) was created by Prochaska and DiClemente. It is based on (1) the stages of change, (2) the decisional balance scale, (3) the strong and weak principle, (4) self efficacy, and (5) the processes of change (Kelly, 2008, p. 149). A person s progression through the stages depends on their perception of the advantages of adopting a healthy lifestyle (Kelly, 2008). The Commitment to Health (CTH) theory was established as a supplement to the TTM and helps to identify, how early health behavior activities become lifelong behavior change (Kelly, 2008, p.148). Kelly (2008) describes CTH as a middle range theory in her article. Middle range theories are theories that have more limited scope, less abstraction, address specific phenomena or concepts and reflect practice (Potter and Perry, 2005, p. 63). Kelly (2008) believes that CTH can be used to help create evidence based health promotion plans for patients in the action stage of behavior change. Patient Health Promotion Most people understand that an unhealthy lifestyle can lead to poor health, but their ability to make a change and modify their existing unhealthy behaviors can be difficult. Nurses have an opportunity to identify patients who are in need of motivational assistance in their practice.
  • 28. Essay change 1. How does Sassoon show the depression of the young soldier? The depression of the young soldier before he commits suicide is clearly displayed in the poem. At the start of the poem, the image of a happy, young, and perhaps rather naГЇve boy is placed before us; Simple tells us that he is innocent, perhaps rather naГЇve, and doesn t understand the concept of war. Grinned at life in empty joy suggests to us that he was pleased by anything, a happy carefree young man. He was young and had no worries because he enjoyed life and did as he pleased. He made life seem easy and happy even when times were bad. It also given us a notion of how immature the boy turned into a soldier and sent to war must have been. Slept soundly through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The structure of the poem also adds to the stark change the boy has suffered throughout the war. Sassoon uses the same structure that a children s rhyme usually has, and this is perhaps intended to emphasize that this boy, turned into a soldier and driven to suicide, was still just a boy. The depression of the young soldier is also shown to be shared by many; the eye catching title Suicide in the Trenches is evidence of this fact. The word trenches further emphasizes that the depression the young soldier feels is felt throughout all the trenches, and therefore many others in war. The juxtaposition between the first two stanzas adds to the effect intended upon the reader by Siegfried Sassoon. He wants us to feel the harsh reality of war; cold, unjust, harsh and depressing, and the image of a happy young man driven to suicide by war certainly emphasizes this point. This jarring contrast makes the boy s death a lot sadder and brings out sympathy in the reader. 2. What is Sassoon s view of the crowds which greet the soldiers on their return from the trenches? The last stanza is very effective in displaying Sassoon s view of the crowds. Throughout this stanza a bitter, sarcastic, sneering and rather angry tone is used; You smug faced crowds The use of you makes the reader feel as if Sassoon is addressing the reader, naming us all guilty of the smug faced cheering and clapping of the

Recitatif On Racial Essay Recitatif on Racial Racism or rather racial is a theme that clearly comes out and captures the mind of every reader upon reading the short story Recitatif by Toni Morrison. The short story starts by bringing two young girls Roberta and Twyla who meet one another in the children s orphanage. From the outset, it is clear that either of the girls is white or black. • 30. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in Literature Wars will affect everyone in the countries that are fighting, but nobody more than the soldiers. This is true for all wars, but especially World War I because at the time it was the largest war the world had ever seen. Young men from all over were sent to the frontlines to be killed in the trenches or in the open fields. Over 8.5 million men ended up dying during the Great War , changing the lives of many people. The families of the men lost their family member, children lost their fathers, and many men lost their lives. Some soldiers who didn t die would return very different from when they left because of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder(PTSD). The perspective of some soldiers as well as the life changing events that took place in their lives are shown through the novel All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque, The Soldier by Rupert Brooke, and The Man He Killed by Thomas Hardy. In All Quiet on the Western Front, the main character is Paul BГ¤umer. Before the war he was a very lively and happy young man, but after fighting he changes and starts to feel much depressed. Throughout the book, Paul changes from a compassionate, sensitive young man into a less joyful person. This detachment from his feelings and emotions are caused by the horrors he witnessed during the war and the anxiety that it brought him. As a result of the war, he is unable to feel at home among his family and cannot talk about his experiences in the war. One of the most powerful moments in

My first instinct would be to hail a taxi or get on a train or subway and take it somewhere familiar to me. What if you had no money, then what would you do? I don t know what I would do. You can t take public transportation without money, but you should be able to. Even if you weren t lost, and you had somewhere to go, what would you do? So many people are unable to afford public transportation, that they are just not able to get around, and get to where they need to go, like to work or to an event. If public transportation were to be made free, people who can t afford a train ticket would now be able to get around. Moreover, despite the obvious benefits, there would be no more crazy city car traffic. This would help to conserve the environment, and to create a safer and healthier environment. Therefore, public transportation should in fact be made free in the United States. Issues regarding public transportation have been an ongoing debate since the 1950s. In the 1950s, African Americans were discriminated against; They were not able to to ride in the front of the bus and had to give up their seat for a white person. For example, Rosa Parks sparked much debate and controversy when she refused to give her seat up for a white person. This led to the Montgomery Bus Boycott, when blacks refused to ride public busses at all. Now, Social Justice advocate, Tyler Falk states: While African Americans are no longer required
