American Renaissance Writers
The American Renaissance, in literary circles occurred during the middle to late 1800s. One of the
most important influences of the period was that of the transcendentalists (Britannica, 2011). Major
writers during this perid had a common bond. Their platform was an idealic system of thought
based on a belief in the essential unity of all creation, the innate goodness of man, and the
supremacy of insight over logic and experience for revelation of the deepest truths. (Britannica,
2011). Among these writers and philosophers were many great Americans such as Edgar Allen Poe
and Ralph Waldo Emmerson. It is important to note; however,... Show more content on

It was then that she became a voice against the ill treatment of slaves. She was inspired by the
movement unintentionally. Emily Dickinson was following a transcendental ideal; she was being
true to herself and being an individual at all costs, as opposed to conforming to a world of
followers. Keeping Dickinson s famous reclusivity in mind, one could say that in her lifetime she
was neither a leader nor a follower. Dickinson never tied herself to a specific school of thought or
philosophy, she was simply herself (American TranscendentalismWeb, 2011). Without realizing it,
Dickinson too was a large part of the transcendental movement. Louisa May Alcott, was a
transcendentalist as well, but unapologetically. Her father was a leading voice and teacher of the
movement; therefore, the principles were engrained in her very makeup. The idea that, reality
exists only in the spirit world, and that things which are seen in the physical world are only
reflections of the spirit world, was the basis of her writings (Walker, 2010).
Role of Poetry
Poetry played a significant role in the American Renassiance primarily because those who wrote
the poems were largely involved in the movement, or were deeply passionate about their lives and
the various causes they stood for. It is sad but true that many of the writers were able to present

paper was written for Writing 121, Mrs Fye The San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge is a
monument of human abilities, goals, and accomplishments. It is beautiful and a huge tourist
attraction for many people inside and outside of the area. To some it is a symbol of their heritage
and ancestors successНѕ To some it is just inspiring to look atНѕ To others it s a landmark to mourn
over, because of loved ones that were stricken with grief and couldn t handle it anymore. That s

What does this suicide proofing the bridge do for the world? It Might prevent a few deaths. Since
the bridge was made in 1937 1,500 people have died on it. In the last War America was part of over
4,000 soldiers died. Over twice as many deaths in less than seven times as many years (70 years).
Why don t we use the 15 million dollars to research and develop better equipment for the
soldiersНѕ giving up their lives for the fools taking theirs, on the Golden gate bridge? Because the
government is just as ignorant as the suicide victims . Most would agree that the site is amazing
and breathtaking to see after the first or the thousandth time. What do you think a bunch of nets
and rails are going to do that view? It is going to change the work of art into something different,
something it wasn t made to be in the beginning . The bridge stood tall for years without major
changes and it is still doing just fine to this very day. Honestly suicide proofing the bridge doesn
t help anything or anyone. Those who want to commit suicide and have at least one brain cell
know that there are other methods. Anything can be used as a weapon, ranging from scissors to a
heights/concrete duo. Only3% of the suicides committed in the bay area were actually done on the
golden gate bridge. Another popular spot to hang out was the bay bridge which is very close to the
Golden gate bridge. Fixing the bridge is not only pointless but in fact counter

Shark Attack Scenarios
Have you ever been in a dangerous life or death situation? It may not have been life or death, but
even just going camping you have to make a fire and build shelter to survive. These three people
were in a life or death situation and used their unique characteristics to survive. In the news
interview Young Girl Tells Tale of Shark
Attack , Bethany Hamilton talks about the incident where
her arm bit off by a shark. Also, in a seminar given by Hyeonseo Lee, My Escape from North Korea
she tells the story of how she and her familyescaped from punishment in their home country. Lastly,
Aron Ralston wrote in his article Trapped about how he got stuck under a rock while climbing for
six days. As shown in the three aforementioned articles, these people have calmness, courage, and
determination which allowed them to survive their situations.
Bethany Hamilton had amazing calmness which helped her survive the incident where the shark
bit off her arm. In paragraph nine of the news interview she says I think I figured out that, like if
I panicked then things wouldn t go as good as if I was calm. Even after going through something
as traumatic as a shark attack, she still is able to keep herself level headed. If she hadn t been able

Why I Want To Study Gut Microbiology
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE The emergence of new pathogens from food and water, particularly
bacteria, as well as the recurrence of known food pathogens, has received research attention in
Nutrition and Food Science. The unusual dietary pattern and nutrition affect the microbial
population in the human gut (Probiotic), with an ample effect on the immune system and human
health. To understand the interactions of gut microflora with food and nutrients, and their potential
involvement in disease etiology and human health, novel approaches tailored from various
disciplines are required. The additional concern is the growing number of children who are
overweight and at a risk of obesity, early onset of type 2 diabetes and sedentary behavior. Taken

Discuss How Robert Louis Stevenson Explores the Topic of...
English Coursework The Gothic fiction novel Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde , written by Robert Louis
Stevenson in 1886, is a novel about a man torn by the desire to separate the good and evil inside
people. The plot beholds a scientist who finds a way to literally separate his good from his evil by
drinking a potion. The plot picks up on the Victorian hypocrisy that crippled people into being
society s idea of good and the shallow nature of the Victorians and how they judged character by
appearance. At this particular era classes still reigned, so this meant that reputation was still more
important than anything, and if being respectable meant suppressing inner desires or altering the
person you were and having to live with that, then... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Eventually due to the inaccuracy of his unscientific balderdash (as spoken by Lanyon)
something goes wrong and his changes from Jekyll to Hyde become more irrepressible, My
blood was changed into something exquisitely thin and icy. Yes I had gone to bed Henry Jekyll,
I had awakened Edward Hyde. He lacks the power or strength to stop these changes. Hyde seems
to perform the metamorphosis without warning or consent. I believe this to be significant to the
fact that Hyde is becoming stronger and less willing to do as dictated, and because he, the inner
demon, has been exercised at such a severe extent he had become a bigger part of Jekyll and so
containing the inner beast becomes harder. Stevenson writes the powers of Hyde seemed to
grow with the sickliness of Jekyll. I do not think he wrote this meaning a literal sickness but was
instead talking about the mental deterioration of Jekyll. The distinction of the unplanned and
unwelcome changes between Jekyll and Hyde is symbolic to the fact that as the lines forming the
distinction of the personality of Hyde and Jekyll began to merge thus so did the transition. The
huge importance of the different physicality of Jekyll and Hyde is illustrative to the completely
different characters and the way they are as humans. In Victorian society you could be judged as a
rapist, murderer, crook or just plainly evil simply by the way you looked. Stevenson played on

Questions That Could Be Used For Interviewing Musicians
Questions that could be used in interviewing musicians. 1. When and why did you start playing?
I started to sing in a choir at the age of 5. I have always expressed myself through music, so my
mom got me into the choir as soon as I was old enough to be able to sing Lyrics. 2. Which
instruments do you play?
My voice is my main instrument. But I do play a little bit of guitar and piano when I m writing
new songs, or when I haven t got an instrumentalist who can back me up.

3. What was the first tune(s) you learned?
Well, the very first tunes I learned was the children s songs we sang at nursery school.

The Impact Of Past Events On The Present: No Real Hero in Maus Maus I and Maus II are
graphic novels written by Art Spiegelman which both make up a good story as well as attempt to
understand the human condition, sort it out and put it in its place. Lynda Barry, the author of One
Hundred Demons suggests that literature helps us to cope as if looking at our demons is a way to
get to know them, to befriend them and even master them. The story explores the nature of guilt,
while exploring traumatic events of the Holocaust through a survivor. This graphic novelalso
explores the impact of the Holocaust and how it affected the lives of people who were born after it

Essay On Lobbyist And Advocate
Nurses do more than simply care for the ill, they promote health and wellbeing as well as
prevention of disease. In addition, nurses help mold policies, laws, and educate legislators about
society s needs. In my discussion I will define compare and contrast a lobbyists and advocate. I
will also discuss their importance and two nursing organizations that assist in changing healthcare
policies. A lobbyist is a person that represents a group of individuals or organizations that attempts
to influence legislators to make or oppose laws in favor of these groups (Nies McEwen, 2015).
Legislators rely heavy upon lobbyists to education them with accurate and current information on
the issues that are important in society today. Consequently, an advocate means to speak on
someone else s behalf or for them. Nurses advocate all the time in the best interest of their patients.

Through these initiatives this organization, is able to assist the nursing body in achieving the

advocates to raise the awareness of certain issues. As a grass root advocate, they influence
legislation and the society at large via way of general public, not lobbyists, to contact legislators in
attempt to make a change. In conclusion, both lobbyists and advocates are needed to change
policies that affect every person in regard to healthcare. Although both have the same intentions
their methods to arriving at the needed change are different. Although some nurses never realized

as men and women of color. Our sample comprised 37 commercials out of the 81 Super Bowl
commercials that aired in 2018. Of the 37 commercials, there were 59 central characters. Out of
those 59 central characters, 43 of the characters were male and 16 were female. Furthermore, we
did not observe any gender queer or gender binary, therefore our group resorted to not code for
those categories. It is important to note that our coding exposed that 72% of the central characters

the type of stereotype the central character fell into if any. Also, the commercials were coded as

Literary Analysis Of Sherlock Holmes
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle utilizes many/several detail oriented literary elements to develop the many
adventures of the famous fictional British detective Sherlock Holmes and his partner, John Watson.
Long winded description and complex vocabulary are infused into Doyle s writing to accentuate
Holmes s great intelligence. By incorporating such a heavy, educated tone upon the mysteries, the
tales of Sherlock Holmesare expressed as very complicated stories that challenge readers in
comprehension as well as encourage curiosity through puzzling cases. One of the most important
literary features of Doyle s works is the use of dialogue and conversations held between characters,
whether it be Holmes, Watson, a victim, and so forth. It seems that... Show more content on

Another factor to consider is how Holmes questions Watson despite already knowing the answer.
This curious habit in their interactions may also elevate the status Holmes imposes on the text and
to the readers by differentiating/comparing their sense of understanding.
?? Not only can the dialogue bring life to the story, but it can tell the story itself, as seen in many
instances in which Holmes has wrapped up another mystery. Most cases are concluded with a
recollection of events and revealing hints that only Holmes knew of, presented almost
conversationally from Holmes to Watson. With his first person account of the mystery, Doyle uses
Holmes to clarify any remaining confusion or questions that linger in readers minds as the chapter
ends. While it is repetitive after several cases, granting Holmes with such large chunks of dialogue
eliminates the need for boring, lengthy straightforward narration. In relation to dialogue and
narration, Doyle s writing can sometimes venture into a playful tone, which can be found in
Holmes. Moreover, there are also some hints of dark humor dispersed throughout each adventure of
Sherlock Holmes that can bring light to some situations. As mentioned previously, Sherlock
Holmes is intended to be an impressive, genius of a man. Conversely, Doyle also uses Holmes to
execute a moderate sense of comic relief, a refreshing feature that deepens the understanding
Holmes and his cases rather than remaining in a constant state of dead

What I learnt from an elk If you told me that there would be a deer to attack me in the future, I

fellow members and me when we were camping. Speaking of deer, what I thought about was they
were kind and docile and I believed that they would never initiate an attack. That s the reason why
we chose a deerfarm as our campsite. When I was in China, I was volunteering at one of the

directions, trying to detract his attentions. I was so shocked that I could not really concentrated on
what I should do next, what all of us should do next at this particular moment. The elk kept chasing
one of our group members, trying to knock him over with his horns, so that that group member
picked up a really thick tree branch from the ground, fighting against the elk. So we ran towards
our campsite, which turned into another mistake. He remained chasing us all the way to our

Examples Of Cultural Issues In The 1920s
The 1920s was a breeding ground for racial violence and cultural wars. These social issues
impacted many different people groups. Racial violence was a bad issue in the 1920s because it
lead to many deaths and injuries. An example of this is the Tulsa race riot killing 39 and injuring
over 800 people. The cultural wars in the 1920swere a result of the conflict between conservative
ideas and liberal ideas. The main conflict was between the fast city way of life and the slow rural
way of life. This was bad because it created a divide between the people creating conflict and more
social issues. A few of the cultural issues of the 1920s were Prohibition and the Red Scare.
Prohibition was the prevention of manufacturing alcohol in the 1920s. This

Implicit Stereotypes Essay
Inferring from prior research, it is widely concluded that implicit stereotypes are well learned
associations believed to be stable, activated prior to conscious processing thus relatively
uncontrollable and unchangeable, and eventually exercising a significant influence over cognition
and behavior. People can only engage in nonprejudicial behavior when they are motivated and are
able to suppress their stereotypic beliefs in situations where they are activated. As such, Blair et al.
(2001) proceeded in a direction that questioned these longstanding assumptions: Implicit stereotypes

Congress Dysfunctions
Dysfunction can be found within the U.S. government. For the purpose of this paper I will argue
that the dysfunction is largely rooted and caused by U.S. culture and also caused by the political
system. Furthermore, I will conclude that through the culmination of a dysfunctional culture the
dysfunctions found within the political system has resulted in a dysfunctional government.
Congress currently has the lowest approval rating they have ever had, however, the incumbent
reelection rates are over 90%. This points to a culture where cooperation and compromise are no
longer the prime objective. People expect their congressman to force their issue and not
compromise on issues that may be contrary to their beliefs. According to America s... Show more

For instance, Wyoming has as many votes in the Senate as California. This disproportionate
representation allows for the rule of the minority. In a Democracy it seems entirely contrary to allow
a minority to influence the direction of the country, however, that is where we are at. In Madison s
Federalist 10, he expresses his concern for the rule of factions and also the rule of the minority. It
appears that through institutions like the Senate and the Electoral College we have allowed, to a
certain extent, the ability of minorities to sway major decisions. Furthermore, because of our
attachment to past institutions that at one point provided a certain service which has now become
completely arbitrary, we add to the rule of the minority. The Electoral College at one point provided
a service to the nation wherein people would vote their conscious if they felt the Republic was

Aquinas Cosmological Argument Analysis
In the Cosmological argument, we are presented with a very sound argument. In this argument,
Aquinas is answering the question of why there has to be a first cause and why the first cause is
God. He tells us that everything that exist in this universe needs an explanation for why it exist.
Secondly, Aquinas tells us that all the objects that exist now were caused to exist by other objects
before them and this cycle goes on. Thirdly, he tells us the universe couldn t possibly be something
that goes on infinitely. Aquinas thinks there has to be something that caused this a first cause.
Lastly, Aquinas tells us the only possible thing that caused all of this is God. In this paper, I will be
defending Aquinas Cosmological Argument. Aquinas first premise is everything, every person,
plant, or object, that exist in this universe needs an explanation for why it exist. I believe there is
a logical reason for why everything exist and everything that happens has an explanation. For
example, we need water to survive. If we don t have water, we will eventually die of dehydration.
We need some of the smallest things in life. If we were to apply this premise to the universe, a
small thing many people don t... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If we were to apply this to the universe, a good example of this would be human beings. Human
beings seem to be in a cyclical process. This process consist of being born, living your life,
having children, and dying. Every human being is born to a set of parents. Every human being
from birth until death lives their live. Many people settle down and have children. Other people
adopt or don t have children. And hopefully after living a long, well lived life, we die. Human
beings that are born in this world were caused to exist by their parents. Their parents were caused
to exist in the world because of their parents. This cycle seems to go on

China s Development Of Human Rights
As of November 5, 2016, China has a population of over 1.37 billion people (Livepopulation). That
number is expected to increase to 1.39 billion in just four years. With so many people occupying
one country, there are many different traditions and a very diverse culture. China has over 56 ethnic
groups, with the largest one being the Hans. A culture is the way a country s people act and

Mandarin dialects are spoken by 71.5 percent of the population, followed by Wu (8.5 percent), Yue

Although many Chinese speak Mandarin, it depends on the area of China a person lives in. Even
though Chinese people primarily speak Mandarin, sometimes its dialect makes it difficult to
communicate at times. China has adopted the pinyin system using Roman letters for spelling

The Good news of Pageantry
Unless the skeptics have proper knowledge and understanding, they are unable to understand the
criteria for judging a pageant. There are so many reasons to enter a beauty pageant. Although
the stereotype is multitudes of girls with big hair, caked on makeup, and fake personalities;
being a size 0, or 2 that s not even close to reality! To tell the whole truth about pageants skeptics
have to be open minded and erase all of their prior knowledge of what the portray pageants to be.
Yes pageants do portray perfection, but that s not the half of it. Honestly girls don t have to be a
size two or pretty or have their makeup caked on, but they do have to have to love themselves
and except who they are, and have plenty self confidence. Self Confidence is the number one out
of all of the reasons to enter a beauty pageant. Miss Teen Arizona said You would never catch me

and as in awe about how much self confidence she had gained over that one weekend! If she can
gain that much self confidence over one weekend then just imagine how many young women
could be inflicted for the good in just one weekend! Self Confidence is hard for girls to obtain.

Essay On The Rebuttal Of The Single Story In Wide Sargasso...
The Rebuttal of the Single Story in Wide Sargasso Sea
Jean Rhys s iconic novel, Wide Sargasso Sea, is the compelling and unofficial prequel to Jane
Eyre by Charlotte BrontГ«. It provides the backstory of Mr. Rochester s creole first wife, also
known as the madwoman in the attic or Antoinette. As a creole herself, Rhy was inspired to write
Wide Sargasso Sea with the express intention of giving greater dimension to the caricatured
woman depicted in Jane Eyre. She succeeds in doing this by documenting Antoinette s descent into
madness as a result of her abusive relationships rather than a genetic condition related to her racial
identity. Rhys s desire to combat the single story about the people of the West Indies in Jane Eyre,

Antoinette allows herself to be swayed too easily, and as a result resigns what little free will she did
have by finally agreeing to the marriage. So, although Rochester, who represents neo colonists, is at
fault for placing undue pressure on Antionette; she ultimately shares in the blame as well for not
asserting herself strongly enough. The theme of the importance of self assertion is present
throughout Said s book Culture and Imperialism. As for example, in the following quotation,
...people [the colonized] on whom the economy and polity sustained by empire depend...whose
reality has not historically or culturally required attention (Said 64). Because the culture of the
colonized becomes dominated by the culture of the colonizer, which is analogous to how Antoinette
was dominated by Rochester, their unique history, culture, and identity becomes secondary. Only by
demanding attention and refusing to allow their minds to be colonized, meaning they must resist
internalizing the messages that the single story of colonialism promotes, will the unique identity of
the previously colonized be recognized as well as their autonomy. The former colonizer has no
motive in assisting in this process, so the responsibility falls to the

The Threat Of Supplier Power
The threat of supplier power is moderate. There are only a select few organic producers that make
up a large percentage of the organic food processed. Since a large number of 81 companies in
1995, the corporations that produce the majority of the organic food has been limited to
approximately 15 (Remington, 2014).
Competitive Rivalry In the industry, competition is high in most areas of the United States. There
are usually two to three Supermarkets in a given location depending on the population. Whole Foods
has an advantage with the organic and natural food buying trends, but many other businesses in the
industry such as Kroger, Costco, etc. have taken notice to the trend.
Threat of Substitution Whole Foods Market has a great selection of natural and organic foods
trending previously mentioned. The threat of substitution is high though. One reason this is true is
due to the superstores such as Wal Mart and Target. Consumers can go to those stores to have a one
store shopping experience for everything from food to clothing. Also, though the revenue in the
industry, mostly goes to the top 50 stores, there still exists local markets and farmers that
communities would rather support over the larger stores such as Whole Foods in the area.

especially Whole Foods Market, include substitution of products, supplier power, and competitors.

In the multi language comedic drama Mystery Train, the analysis of narrative vs narration,
character motivation, goals, narrative complexity, as well as other techniques such as colour, sound
and mise en scene are useful tools that help the audience understand the social commentary and
meaning that underlies the film.
Mystery Train is a 1989 film directed by Jim Jarmusch as part of an independent anthology of
films. This movie and the others in the anthology feature a strong travel aspect and represents
America as a peculiar land of many strangers and stories. Mystery Train has a more complex
narrative structure then Jarmusch s previous films, he described his intent for the film as episodic
but simultaneous . This was achieved by showing the film from 3 different points of views that
occupy the same space and time, all of which are connected by the same hotel and a gunshot. The
events take place simultaneously but are presented sequentially.
The first part of the narrative follows Japanese tourist couple Mitzuko and Jun and opens with them
listening to Mystery Train by Elvis Presley as their train arrives in Memphis. The rock and roll fans
are in town to visit Sun Studio, Graceland and other Elvis related landmarks. After which, they
stop at a hotel for the night and later turn on the radio to hear Blue Moon by Elvis as they go to
sleep. The following morning as the couple is getting ready to leave the hotel they hear a gunshot.

Why Is Harvard So Important To Faber
Faber is an old, retired college professor, and as he has confessed, ...a coward. I saw the way
things were going, a long time back. I said nothing. I m one of the innocents who could have
spoken up and out when no one would listen to the guilty , but I did not speak and thus guilty
myself , (79). It is true that because of this cowardice, he often misses out and makes unwise
actions. This is shown when Montag went to Faber with his plan but refused to help until after
Montag began to rip pages out of the bible. For this reason, the phrase, Now, it s too late (79),
seems to really go hand in hand with Faber. In contrast, Montag seems to be more brave in his

That is that they are both dedicated to sparking a change in their society, even though Montag
tends to show this newly grown dedication more outwardly than Faber, by going to Faber

actions of burning books, but something always got in the way. That day in the park when we
sat together, I knew that someday you might drop by, with fire or friendship.. (88), is an
example of this planning. It can also be said that Faber and Montag are both lonely. Montag feels
ostracized from his wife and the other firefighters, and has lost Clarisse, admitting to Faber that
Nobody listens anymore, (79). Also, when Faber shows Montag the seashell like invention, he
adds that he has been waiting forever to use it, for someone to help aid in his plan, since there
was nothing else in his life that he could do except wait half a lifetime for someone to speak to me ,

This paper takes a look at Evangelism in 2016. It will discuss some views based upon studies of
the Millennial Generation and how they evangelize. Over recent years studies have shown that
although Evangelism amongst some generations seem to be declining. Evangelism amongst the
Millennial Generation seems to be exploding. This paper will generate some personal synopsis
based upon my most recent research. It will answer the question by presenting what some
churches are not doing, to bring us to a place of self examination. This is in no way an exhaustive
study, but one that is presented that has caused the writer to take a second look at Evangelism
within her own call. Christ has admonished us in Mark 16:15 Go into all the world, and preach the
gospelto every creature. Finally, it will conclude with a basic summation on what this writer
believes should be the goals of every born again believer.
How to Win the Lost in This Generation
Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore, be wise as serpents and harmless
as doves. Matthew 10:16 I believe when Jesus spoke this to his disciples over 2,000 years ago, the
message has not changed. I believe that he has given us some foundational truths how to share the
Gospel. He was reminding us that we have to be careful. This would seem like a great balancing
act. A serpent is wise, with keen eyesight and is quick to learn. A dove is innocent, meek and
gentle. Jesus saw a necessity in this

I Am A Citizen Of A Free Society
These days in our country we like to believe that we have the power to do as we please. Lessing
makes a remarkable suggestion about our minds under social pressure. I am a citizen of a free
society, and that mean I am an individual, making individual choices. My mind is my own, my
opinions are chosen by me, I am free to do as I will.(Pg.595) is bad because indeed we do not
want to be individuals, we all want to be a part of something and the honest truth is we can t
stand being alone for a long course of time. The way we are raised is around friends and growing
up with being a part of something (even if it s a sports team, church, school etc.), making us
group minded. So when we are pressured under a group, we automatically break down and our
individualism is deserted. Lessing s comments show us that maybe we should start teaching our
youths how to grow up and withstand group pressure. We do not have to agree with everything
that may seem right to everybody else s perspective, plus not to fall under pressure of persuasive
slogans and ads. Lessing s made a gruesome observation about how we humans act under group
pressure. She made an assumption that people in the west like to think that we have the power to
do whatever we like, but we also don t like to be alone. We like to be in groups, we hang out with
groups with somewhat same background as us so we tend to think alike. So when something doesn

Human Weakness in Macbeth and Othello
Macbeth is one of the best known plays written by Shakespeare in the 17th century, Jacobean
period. It was the period where the belief in supernatural was greatly held and king James I
himself, the author of Divine rights of king adhered in witchcraft and openly practiced the idea of
kings being God s representatives on earth, so to even complain about them was a sin. The tragic
hero, brave and valiant Macbethhad all the required characteristics of the ideal Scottish soldier;
valorous and gallant but he is bound to have a tragic flaw which he is powerless over and the cause
of his inevitable death, his vaulting ambition and greed. We then have our other tragedy Othello,

In Macbeth, Duncan and the soldiers call him valiant and brave , Othello is also referred to as
valiant and brave by the duke and Montana. Moreover, as we see Macbeth leading the big battle,
Othello is reserved by the leaders of Venice who depend on him to fight the biggest battle. He is
employed to do so which means he is chosen and his skills and qualities are valued therefore the
verb employed is used to convey his importance in the society to the audience. Initially, Shakespeare
presents the protagonists as impeccable heroes and suggests to the audience nothing can go wrong
in the play.
In comparison, Shakespeare uses a significant quote which foreshadows Othello s tragic fall
later in the play. When Barbantio warns Othello she has deceived her father and may thee it
shows the audience how hurt he is by her deception and warns Othello that if Desdemona can
betray her father, whom she has known all her life she can easily betray Othello, This strong
point foreshadows Othello s murderous suspicion. Shakespeare also used the character of Iago to
not only show how trusting Othello is but also how poor of a judgement he makes. The repetition
of honest Iago by Othello warns the audience how Othello s poor judgements will lead him to his
downfall as they first see Iago slandering against Othello, so they are warned he is duplicitous
beforehand. Another way Shakespeare presents Othello s tragic fall

Hippies known for their love of drugs and sex, they often misguided the common folk of their

what they considered was theirs; what they believed in. They believed in their rights, and they
wanted to do what they pleased; not to conform to the requirements of living in the average

Symptoms Of Colorblindness
Colorblindness is a disorder that results in a decrease in function of the mechanisms that allow the
eye to see colors. These symptoms usually result from a mutation that interrupts the development of
the retinal cones. Cones are photoreceptor cells that response best to bright light and serve to
discriminate colors. There are three different types of cones each with different pigments blue,
green and red (Deeb). Blue cones are able to absorb lightwith a short wavelength around 420nm;
green cones are able to absorb light with a middle wavelength around 530nm, and red cones are
able to absorb light with a long wavelength around 560nm (Deeb). Working together these cones
are able to discriminate between the colors we see. The genes responsible

Many Americans went wild investing beyond their needs. They were investing with money they
didn t have. Investors had to pay ten percent of the total value of stocks at the time of buying.
The rest they could pay in installments. The stock market could not be stabilized. There were
huge amount of money being borrowed out of the stock market. There were huge number of
new banks that were cropping up every single day. They didn t have any rules telling them the
amount of reserves that was allowed to be loaned out. They also didn t have any regulations to
determine the minimum capital required to start up a bank. The banks were closing faster than
they were opening. The situations became worse when the stock market crashed in 1929. It loss
around fourteen billion dollars of wealth. After the crash, the Securities and Exchange
Commission (SEC) was set up. The purpose of the SEC was to protect investors from dangerous
or illegal financial practices or fraud, by requiring full and accurate financial disclosure by
companies offering stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and other securities to the public. After the crash
there were temporary improvement in the market. The 1929 stock market crash was like a petty
crash that led to a bigger market crash in 1932.
Another cause of The Great Depression was drought conditions. The first sign that warned them
was in the agricultural sector. Farm prices dropped because of production. Technology was

The Pelagic Zone
The pelagic zone of the ocean is also commonly called the open ocean. In depth in extends from
the surface, down to the deepest trenches. However, it does not include the coasts, near shorelines.
The pelagic zone consists of five layers; the epipelagic, mesopelagic, bathypelagic, abyssopelagic,
and the hadopelagic subzone. The first zone, the epipelagic zone, also known as the euphotic zone
extends from the surface of the water to 200 meters. This is the most commonly explored and
known portion of the pelagic zone. This is where we scuba dive, fish, go on our cruises, or boat
commercially. This portion of the ocean is home to most of the fish and mammals we know the
best. Such as, sharks, dolphins, sea turtles, seals, corals, rays, jellyfish, sailfish, whales and many
other creatures. These all trace back to the photosynthetic planktons that form the basis of the
food chain in this layer. The epipelagic subzone is also characterized by it s abundance of light.
allowing for the necessary photosynthesis to take place. The next layer of the pelagic zone is the
mesopelagic, this subzone extends from 200 1000 meters deep. There is very little light, not
enough for photosynthesis. This layer, also called the twilight zone is home to fish such as; big
scale fish, ctenophores, firefly squid, hatchet fish, snipe eels and siphonophores. These fish have
some odd adaptations, one example would be the firefly squid. The squid has four photophores
which emit light. These photophores are

Emile Durkheim Social Fact Essay
Stated in The Rules of Sociological Method Durkheim defines social fact to concepts and
expectations that come from society, not the individual. Many examples prove that social fact
only exists where social organization is present, such as the legal system, as well as the education
system. Durkheim states that social organization is not needed in social fact, and that social fact
is all those issues that society pushes to be acted orderly.
The legal system is a prime example of social fact. The legal system is a strict set of laws and
regulations that must be followed by each individual. It is to society s interest that these
regulations be followed. When someone makes the decision to take someone else s life, there is a
process that is taken ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The offender planned out this murder, therefore it points him to a path of legal
stages that come to no surprise to him or society. If a driver is pulling out of her driveway, and
kills someone because she wasn t aware of her blind spot, she then would go through an entirely
different process. Factors taken into consideration would be that she was sober, there was no
intent to harm, and physically could not see the victim. She then would be taken through steps of
the legal system as well. When reading those examples, it is no shock to society what is going to
happen to each of these offenders. The reason for this is because rules and regulations of the law
are at interest of society. When these laws are broken, there is an orderly system to deal with
each and every offense, therefore making the legal system a social fact.
Religion is another example of social fact. Christians baptize babies very quickly after birth,
church is attended on Sundays, and there is a priest present every day at church. In Islamic
religions, prayers are to be done everyone morning before sunrise, until sunrise, with no issue to
be an excuse for distraction. All though the example of religion is not at systematic

Isolation In Richard Bone By Mr. Bone
In Richard Bone , Mr. Bone describes a self imposed emotional isolation. He is new to Spoon
River and finds work carving tombstones; consequently, he does not know the citizens well enough
to know if they speak the truth or are making a last effort to glorify their deceased loved ones. In
lines 8 9 Bone discloses, And I chiseled for them whatever they wished, / All in ignorance of its
truth. Initially, he is emotionally isolated; however, Mr. Bone chooses to venture out of his comfort
zone and into the community where he learns the truths and complexities that compose the citizens
of Spoon River. This leads one to assume that when he found himself unhappy with his seclusion he
sought to change his situation, a worthwhile decision. As he lives among them he becomes privy to
the truthfulness of the epitaphs, but continues to carve the false eulogies although one can infer
that Bone does this partially to keep his standing in the community, as not to return to his state of
isolation.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bone is a new resident to Spoon River early isolation is inescapable. In order for Bone to have a
more positive outlook, he must first accept the fact that new members must find their own way into
an already established society which he does. By becoming a tombstone engraver Bone has slotted
himself into the community as someone who is necessary, but through this occupation, with a
brighter outlook, he can become something much more. With the right attitude Bone can convey
compassion to his grieving customers which in turn will allow him to be in better standings with
the community as a whole, bringing in more customers which will increase his day to day
interactions with the rest of Spoon River therefore ending his

The Glass Castle Stylistic Analysis
Dream big or be realistic Some people don t like to dream big for they just choose to be realistic,
however being realistic is a good thing. In my opinion, i believe that being realistic is the best
option you can have. For example, in the novel The glass castle the little girl will always think
about the glass castle she would live in, however she ended up living in an apartment in New
York City. This made her realize that was just one of her dreams and that it won t come true
because of this, she would always predict what would happen before it occurred. Being able to
see things how they really are is good. For example, my sister would always be getting after me
because i will always expect great things from the future, however

Jules Verne was an astonishing and outstanding writer who predicted the science future and
eventual fate of the world. A percentage of the innovations he imagined were made later in his
lifetime, yet some are still to be developed. He was prominent with a wide range of readers : rich,
poor, youthful, old, researchers, specialists and rulers. He composed more than 80 books

The incidences of diabetes are growing annually, and predicted to increase within the coming
decades. The number of cases yearly is not only increasing, but the age of onset for diabetes has
decreased. This means more individuals are developing diabetes at an earlier age. Diabetes not
only affects individuals and communities but countries as well. The prevalence of diabetes has
gathered billions of dollars in healthcare costs. [1]Type 2 diabetes also leads to other serious
medical conditions such as heart disease, renal failure, blindness, and tissue damage in extremities
that will eventually lead to amputation. These illnesses, as a result, result in further costs in the
form of disability and the loss of a portion of our workforce. However, incidences of type 2
diabetes are in higher occurrence amongst Hispanic groups. According to the Hispanic Health and
Nutrition Examination Survey, Mexican Americans have an unusually high prevalence of diabetes
compared to that of the general population [2]. Hispanic females have the highest lifetime risk of
becoming diabetic 52% [3], compared to that of the average risk of

American Renaissance Writers Essays American Renaissance Writers ENG/491 December 19, 2011 Peggy Walls American Renaissance Writers The American Renaissance, in literary circles occurred during the middle to late 1800s. One of the most important influences of the period was that of the transcendentalists (Britannica, 2011). Major writers during this perid had a common bond. Their platform was an idealic system of thought based on a belief in the essential unity of all creation, the innate goodness of man, and the supremacy of insight over logic and experience for revelation of the deepest truths. (Britannica, 2011). Among these writers and philosophers were many great Americans such as Edgar Allen Poe and Ralph Waldo Emmerson. It is important to note; however,... Emily Dickinson was following a transcendental ideal; she was being true to herself and being an individual at all costs, as opposed to conforming to a world of followers. Keeping Dickinson s famous reclusivity in mind, one could say that in her lifetime she was neither a leader nor a follower. Dickinson never tied herself to a specific school of thought or philosophy, she was simply herself (American TranscendentalismWeb, 2011). Without realizing it, Dickinson too was a large part of the transcendental movement. Louisa May Alcott, was a transcendentalist as well, but unapologetically. Her father was a leading voice and teacher of the movement; therefore, the principles were engrained in her very makeup. The idea that, reality exists only in the spirit world, and that things which are seen in the physical world are only reflections of the spirit world, was the basis of her writings (Walker, 2010). Role of Poetry Poetry played a significant role in the American Renassiance primarily because those who wrote the poems were largely involved in the movement, or were deeply passionate about their lives and the various causes they stood for. Since the bridge was made in 1937 1,500 people have died on it. In the last War America was part of over 4,000 soldiers died. Over twice as many deaths in less than seven times as many years (70 years). Why don t we use the 15 million dollars to research and develop better equipment for the soldiersНѕ giving up their lives for the fools taking theirs, on the Golden gate bridge? Because the government is just as ignorant as the suicide victims . Most would agree that the site is amazing and breathtaking to see after the first or the thousandth time. What do you think a bunch of nets and rails are going to do that view? It is going to change the work of art into something different, something it wasn t made to be in the beginning . The bridge stood tall for years without major changes and it is still doing just fine to this very day. Honestly suicide proofing the bridge doesn t help anything or anyone. Those who want to commit suicide and have at least one brain cell know that there are other methods. Anything can be used as a weapon, ranging from scissors to a heights/concrete duo. It may not have been life or death, but even just going camping you have to make a fire and build shelter to survive. These three people were in a life or death situation and used their unique characteristics to survive. In the news interview Young Girl Tells Tale of Shark Attack , Bethany Hamilton talks about the incident where her arm bit off by a shark. • 6. Discuss How Robert Louis Stevenson Explores the Topic of... English Coursework The Gothic fiction novel Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde , written by Robert Louis Stevenson in 1886, is a novel about a man torn by the desire to separate the good and evil inside people. The plot beholds a scientist who finds a way to literally separate his good from his evil by drinking a potion. The plot picks up on the Victorian hypocrisy that crippled people into being society s idea of good and the shallow nature of the Victorians and how they judged character by appearance. At this particular era classes still reigned, so this meant that reputation was still more important than anything, and if being respectable meant suppressing inner desires or altering the person you were and having to live with that, then... Yes I had gone to bed Henry Jekyll, I had awakened Edward Hyde. He lacks the power or strength to stop these changes. Hyde seems to perform the metamorphosis without warning or consent. I believe this to be significant to the fact that Hyde is becoming stronger and less willing to do as dictated, and because he, the inner demon, has been exercised at such a severe extent he had become a bigger part of Jekyll and so containing the inner beast becomes harder. Stevenson writes the powers of Hyde seemed to grow with the sickliness of Jekyll. I do not think he wrote this meaning a literal sickness but was instead talking about the mental deterioration of Jekyll. The distinction of the unplanned and unwelcome changes between Jekyll and Hyde is symbolic to the fact that as the lines forming the distinction of the personality of Hyde and Jekyll began to merge thus so did the transition. The huge importance of the different physicality of Jekyll and Hyde is illustrative to the completely different characters and the way they are as humans. In Victorian society you could be judged as a rapist, murderer, crook or just plainly evil simply by the way you looked. Stevenson played on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Literary Analysis Of Sherlock Holmes Sir Arthur Conan Doyle utilizes many/several detail oriented literary elements to develop the many adventures of the famous fictional British detective Sherlock Holmes and his partner, John Watson. Long winded description and complex vocabulary are infused into Doyle s writing to accentuate Holmes s great intelligence. By incorporating such a heavy, educated tone upon the mysteries, the tales of Sherlock Holmesare expressed as very complicated stories that challenge readers in comprehension as well as encourage curiosity through puzzling cases. One of the most important literary features of Doyle s works is the use of dialogue and conversations held between characters, whether it be Holmes, Watson, a victim, and so forth. It seems that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another factor to consider is how Holmes questions Watson despite already knowing the answer. This curious habit in their interactions may also elevate the status Holmes imposes on the text and to the readers by differentiating/comparing their sense of understanding. ?? Not only can the dialogue bring life to the story, but it can tell the story itself, as seen in many instances in which Holmes has wrapped up another mystery. Most cases are concluded with a recollection of events and revealing hints that only Holmes knew of, presented almost conversationally from Holmes to Watson. With his first person account of the mystery, Doyle uses Holmes to clarify any remaining confusion or questions that linger in readers minds as the chapter ends. While it is repetitive after several cases, granting Holmes with such large chunks of dialogue eliminates the need for boring, lengthy straightforward narration. In relation to dialogue and narration, Doyle s writing can sometimes venture into a playful tone, which can be found in Holmes. Moreover, there are also some hints of dark humor dispersed throughout each adventure of Sherlock Holmes that can bring light to some situations. As mentioned previously, Sherlock Holmes is intended to be an impressive, genius of a man. Secondly, Aquinas tells us that all the objects that exist now were caused to exist by other objects before them and this cycle goes on. Lastly, Aquinas tells us the only possible thing that caused all of this is God. In this paper, I will be defending Aquinas Cosmological Argument. Aquinas first premise is everything, every person, plant, or object, that exist in this universe needs an explanation for why it exist. I believe there is a logical reason for why everything exist and everything that happens has an explanation. For example, we need water to survive. If we don t have water, we will eventually die of dehydration. We need some of the smallest things in life. If we were to apply this premise to the universe, a small thing many people don t... Many people settle down and have children. Other people adopt or don t have children. And hopefully after living a long, well lived life, we die. The Rebuttal of the Single Story in Wide Sargasso Sea Jean Rhys s iconic novel, Wide Sargasso Sea, is the compelling and unofficial prequel to Jane Eyre by Charlotte BrontГ«. It provides the backstory of Mr. Rochester s creole first wife, also known as the madwoman in the attic or Antoinette. As a creole herself, Rhy was inspired to write Wide Sargasso Sea with the express intention of giving greater dimension to the caricatured woman depicted in Jane Eyre. She succeeds in doing this by documenting Antoinette s descent into madness as a result of her abusive relationships rather than a genetic condition related to her racial identity. The theme of the importance of self assertion is present throughout Said s book Culture and Imperialism. As for example, in the following quotation, ...people [the colonized] on whom the economy and polity sustained by empire depend...whose reality has not historically or culturally required attention (Said 64). Because the culture of the colonized becomes dominated by the culture of the colonizer, which is analogous to how Antoinette was dominated by Rochester, their unique history, culture, and identity becomes secondary. Only by demanding attention and refusing to allow their minds to be colonized, meaning they must resist internalizing the messages that the single story of colonialism promotes, will the unique identity of the previously colonized be recognized as well as their autonomy. Mystery Train is a 1989 film directed by Jim Jarmusch as part of an independent anthology of films. This movie and the others in the anthology feature a strong travel aspect and represents America as a peculiar land of many strangers and stories. Mystery Train has a more complex narrative structure then Jarmusch s previous films, he described his intent for the film as episodic but simultaneous . This was achieved by showing the film from 3 different points of views that occupy the same space and time, all of which are connected by the same hotel and a gunshot. The events take place simultaneously but are presented sequentially. The first part of the narrative follows Japanese tourist couple Mitzuko and Jun and opens with them listening to Mystery Train by Elvis Presley as their train arrives in Memphis. This paper will generate some personal synopsis based upon my most recent research. My mind is my own, my opinions are chosen by me, I am free to do as I will.(Pg.595) is bad because indeed we do not want to be individuals, we all want to be a part of something and the honest truth is we can t stand being alone for a long course of time. The way we are raised is around friends and growing up with being a part of something (even if it s a sports team, church, school etc.), making us group minded. So when we are pressured under a group, we automatically break down and our individualism is deserted. We do not have to agree with everything that may seem right to everybody else s perspective, plus not to fall under pressure of persuasive slogans and ads. Lessing s made a gruesome observation about how we humans act under group pressure. This is where we scuba dive, fish, go on our cruises, or boat commercially. This portion of the ocean is home to most of the fish and mammals we know the best. Such as, sharks, dolphins, sea turtles, seals, corals, rays, jellyfish, sailfish, whales and many other creatures. These all trace back to the photosynthetic planktons that form the basis of the food chain in this layer. The epipelagic subzone is also characterized by it s abundance of light. allowing for the necessary photosynthesis to take place. The next layer of the pelagic zone is the mesopelagic, this subzone extends from 200 1000 meters deep. There is very little light, not enough for photosynthesis. These fish have some odd adaptations, one example would be the firefly squid. The squid has four photophores which emit light. These photophores are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Durkheim states that social organization is not needed in social fact, and that social fact is all those issues that society pushes to be acted orderly. If a driver is pulling out of her driveway, and kills someone because she wasn t aware of her blind spot, she then would go through an entirely different process. Factors taken into consideration would be that she was sober, there was no intent to harm, and physically could not see the victim. She then would be taken through steps of the legal system as well. When reading those examples, it is no shock to society what is going to happen to each of these offenders. The reason for this is because rules and regulations of the law are at interest of society. When these laws are broken, there is an orderly system to deal with each and every offense, therefore making the legal system a social fact. Religion is another example of social fact. Christians baptize babies very quickly after birth, church is attended on Sundays, and there is a priest present every day at church. In Islamic religions, prayers are to be done everyone morning before sunrise, until sunrise, with no issue to

He is new to Spoon River and finds work carving tombstones; consequently, he does not know the citizens well enough to know if they speak the truth or are making a last effort to glorify their deceased loved ones. In lines 8 9 Bone discloses, And I chiseled for them whatever they wished, / All in ignorance of its truth. Initially, he is emotionally isolated; however, Mr. Bone chooses to venture out of his comfort zone and into the community where he learns the truths and complexities that compose the citizens of Spoon River.
