Clearly, I really enjoyed this book because it opened my mind to different views of
feelings and emotion of situations. If I was never exposed to Jimmie s story, then I

easy for me to follow. I really liked the way the author included an introduction
before starting the book. The introduction was extremely helpful because before
reading the book, I had no clue what to expect. The introduction also cleared up some
terminology for me and created a preview of what I was about to read. The
introduction captured my attention and enticed me. Without the introduction, I would
have been lost while reading the first chapter and completely lost interest by time I

years, the evidence of farmers using antibiotics for non traditional ways has sparked
major controversy. In agriculture 90% of antibiotics are used for growth promoting

the genetic basis for antibiotic resistanceand the occurrence of antibiotic resistance in

knowledge has been neverending. Within the past few centuries, man reached new

Shelley s Frankenstein embodies this quest for intellect. Victor Frankenstein, the main
character, sets off on a journey to acquire as much education as possible, but by doing

The aims and objective of this research is clearly stated in this chapter. The scope of
study of this research was significantly mention and the limitation in carrying out

Many of the books described above mentioned the future and how their hopes were
not foreseeable. In Jared Diamond s book, Collapse, he analyzes different past
civilizations to understand their road to collapsing as a society. He further asserts
that today s society need to realize the effects of collapsing to better prepare for the
future. Diamond explains that collapse to him means a drastic decrease in human
population size and/or political/economic/social complexity, over a considerable area,
for an extended time (Diamond 3). He establishes a five point framework of factors
that is to be contributed to the collapse of almost any society. Those factors include:
climate change, environmental damage, hostile neighbors, friendly trade partners,...
As mentioned in Diamond s book, Collapse, China has been facing and is still
facing air pollution and environmental damages. The air pollution crisis in China is
caused mainly by their large economic boom causing more factories, vehicles, and
overpopulation (Clark, et al.). Pollutants such as nitrogen oxides and carbon dioxide
are rising due to the increasing numbers of motor vehicles and the coal dominated
energy generation (Diamond 363). Because of the immediate effects of air pollution
such as the smog that is visible to citizens in China, many citizens wear face masks
every day to protect themselves and their health. Diamond also mentions the fact that
because China has the worst environmental damages such as air pollution, this might
affect the rest of the world. There have been strides to regulate laws in China to deal
with this environmental damage and destruction, but often times these laws and
regulations are ignored even by leaders. The health of China s citizens is at risk, and
though the future seems far ahead of us, there might not be a future in Chine due to
