The Holocaust is one of history s most tragic events. During the immense armed
conflict of WWII, there was conflict between individuals under Hitler s Nazi
ideology. Not all German authority believed what Hitler believed in. Since there
were individuals like this, instances of resistance occurred which aimed at thwarting
the deadly violence. In Those Who Said No to the Holocaust, David Kitterman
provides examples and insight into the German resistance during the Holocaust. He
states that there have been at least one hundred documented cases regarding the
refusal of orders to kill Jews, unarmed civilians, or prisoners of war. These
occurrences are surprising due to the belief of war wisdom that claims a soldier
either follows an order or faces serious consequences. Dr. Albert Battel, 1st lieutenant
in the German army, prevented the SS from relocating about one hundred Jews to an
extermination camp and brought them to safety (Kitterman). Battel was threatened to

As an Air Force ROTC cadet, I am required to learn a number of quotes during my

their plays. Although characters Nora Helmer of A Doll s House and Laura
Wingfield of The Glass Menagerie are incredibly different, the authors used very
similar techniques of creating them as convincing characters. Nora and Laura both

This play based activity involved a table that had various elements to explore various
sounds. Amelia was guided to the table where another child was already present by
the educator that she had an attachment with. Amelia and the other child were
babbling back and forth to one another. When both children wanted to play with the

Home On the outside it is just another place, but this is where it has all started.
Thousands of people call this home. The horrific weather, amazing food,
architecture and number of people makes this place home. This city of Buffalo

The Pacific Northwest is perceived to be a fairly safe place to live. This is true, but
the Northwest is not untouchable. In fact, the Pacific Northwest is at risk for a
megathrust earthquake of nine magnitudes. Japan was devastated with a nine
magnitude earthquake in 2011; this level of natural disaster would be destructive
anywhere in the world, but the idea it could happen right in our front yard makes the
threat more real, personal. Earthquakepreparedness is important because it saves lives.
While building codes and funding to earthquake warning systems do make a
difference, these methods are not practical when facing a megathrust earthquake.
Earthquake preparedness is a combination of education and material preparedness. In
awareness of this megathrust earthquake in the Pacific Northwest, earthquake
preparedness should be a high priority.
A megathrust is the world s largest type of earthquake, often nine in magnitude or
higher. These earthquakes only occur on subduction zones, which are where the
borders of major plates overlap one another. The Cascadia Subduction Zone is located

In the book, Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keys, the formatting of the story
supports a theme of identity. There are multiple formats that support the theme.
The first being the narration in which the story is written in; first person. The
reader is allowed to experience the story through the main character s eyes, Charlie
Gordon. Charlie is a 32 year old man with an abnormally low I.Q of 68. In order to
increase his mental capacities, he is the first human to have his intelligence
increased by surgery. Secondly, is the formatting of the book in chronological order.
While undergoing this surgery, Charlie must write progress reports, each labeled
with their own date. The first progress report is written on March 3rd. The last
progress report is written on November 21st. It gives the reader a sense of timeand
progression. And lastly, is the author s writingstyle of changing Charlie s spelling,
grammar, and punctuation in his progress reports. Each report is written according to
his level of intelligence at the time. In the beginning of the book Charlie has not been

back to what I was doing and how this tragedy impacted not only me, but also the
United States as a whole. Going through this simulation gave me a little more insight

My mission statement for myself is very simple. I will finish my college degree
and my next associate s degree at Vincennes University. While I am college, I am

of me succeeding and failing a goal at the same time occurred in March 1990 when
I ran the Los Angeles city marathon. When I entered the race, my goal was to finish

nearly 6 million people who were killed in the systematic execution of Jews under
Nazi Germany and Adolf Hitler. For my summer reading project, I chose to read The
Diary of a Young Girl, which is the definitive edition of her diary that she kept for
two years as she neared the day of her family s captivity on August 4, 1944.
Over the summer, I visited the Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust in California
and read upon the statistics of the amount of Jews killed under Hitler s beliefs. The
museum was established in 1961 by Holocaust survivors and is devoted towards
never forgetting the unbelievable tragedy. I chose to write my report on how I
believed Anne Frank would continue on with her life if she had survived. While I
was reading, I was astonished at how she worded such simple tasks, and the mind
of a young girl, going through what so many had suffered and endured. I find it
fascinating how her mind worked so intricately and the details she noted after
common things such as arguments, and failure. Living with seven other people
with different characteristics and mindsets, Anne wrote down every single aspect
of her days and gave an insight as to what life was like in the hidden annex where
eight total Jews had hid for over two years. She did all of this because she longed
for someone who shared the same interests and understanding. However, after
reading her diary, I believe I am one of the many people who were left wondering

Of all passages throughout the book Hidden Figures, Margot Lee Shetterly s
depiction of Dorothy Vaughn s intimidating journey to the city of Hampton
resonates with me the most. The Colored waiting room at the Greyhound bus
station served as the checkpoint for an in between world. Dorothy boarded the bus,
and with each passing mile, life in Farmville faded into the distance. (Shetterly, 22)
This passage from Shetterly s novel seems to foreshadow my own journey that I will

How Did Martin Luther King Change The World
Like Martin Luther King, other people had their act to change the world in a better
place. Martin Luther king was a African American and a pastor who believe that
white and black come together like brothers and sisters in christ. He worked hard
and non violence protesters. In 1968, James Earl Ray, a gun shooter, killed Martin
at one night and died. Martin s life impacted the lives of all americans and the
future of him. Martin Luther King was born on January 15, 1929. He lived in the
north where black and white are not segregated.He grew up in a safe loving
household. Martin had skipped two grades in high school. At age 15, he went to
Morehouse college in Atlanta, Georgia in 1954. In 1954, Martin had became a pastor
like his father in Montgomery,

Perseverance In The Giver
Do you feel like you put much perseverance and courage to help your society that is
in need? Then maybe you are like Jonas and Rikki Tikki Tavi both of which are
two of the many people that show courage and perseverance, not just to help
themselves. Take Rikki for instance, he killed three of the deadliest snakes in his
family s garden to protect the other animals that are in the garden and his family
from danger. Jonas is like this but he showed courage because when The Giver was
in pain, Jonas was the one who helped take the pain away. Without even knowing
what was causing that pain. In the story, The Giver by Lois Lowry, Jonas show
tremendous amounts of courage, that in the end will change him. I ll come back

The At The End Of The Day
Well, you certainly came off as being a nice guy. And now your audience has been
widened thanks to your Hallmark fans. Oh absolutely. I hope so. That s the goal at
the end of the day. I just hope people like my work, and if they can relate to it, that
s great. I do have to say I get recognized from Cedar Cove. And the fans have been
great. From flight attendants and obviously when I travel, you start meeting
people. The people where I live in Vancouver in LA know me as an actor, so they
usually know what show I ve been on. Hopefully I get to work on another
Hallmark show one of these days. Well, that s what people were asking about.
They definitely want to see you in another Hallmark show or film. So you do have
fans that would like to see that happen. Oh, that s great to hear. It s always nice to
see that the Hallmark fans know you by name, they remember you, and they like

am a First Wave fan. And then it was something to see you get added to the cast. So
how did you end up joining the cast of Dark Matter? Basically, they had been
talking to me about that show for years the producers Jo Mallozzi and Paul Mullie.
I ve known about the project for a long time before it started. And it got pushed for
awhile. And then eventually they asked me if I would be interested in playing the
