The War Of World War II
September 3, 1939 was the day that many people s lives changed. That is date of which Great Britain
entered World War II. Great Britain would fight alongside the allied powers, which consisted of
USSR, France, and US. The axis powers, which consisted of Germany, Italy, and Japan, would try and
bomb the allied powers into surrender. This brutal war would go on for nearly five and a half years,
finally ending on May 8, 1945. The end of the war marked both celebration and mourning. For Great
Britain some major turning points during the war were the Battle of Britain, and the invasion scare.
Many families had to make sacrifices during the war, some of them life changing. The people of Great
Britain refused to go to war and were in denial, many of them would not listen to future Prime
Minister Winston Churchill. Churchill warned the people about Hitler and Nazi Germany . Because of
everybody s fear of the war, Britain was not prepared when it came time for the country to enter the
war. After World War I, Great Britain wanted to avoid any war at all costs. At the time, Neville
Chamberlain was the Prime minister of Great Britain and he wanted to keep peace throughout the
country. After the first world war, Chamberlain primarily focused on being in the League of Nations
and that led to the deterioration of his armed forces and turn the focus to the inside of the country. The
League of Nations was founded after World War I and it was there to ensure that war never broke out
again .

Theodore Roosevelt Corollary Analysis
The United States has a very long history of military actions that helped expand its power in both
peacetime and war to a much higher status. After independence, the United States took military
control of the North American continent, acquiring territory from the native peoples, and from other
countries such as Britain, France, Mexico, and more countries. Not only seizing territory but also
offering help to any allies who needed it. The Roosevelt Corollary written by Theodore Roosevelt in
1904, is a great example of how the expansion of American influence has spread throughout North and
Latin America, and also Asia. In the corollary, it basically says that if a nation cannot help keep up
with its standard, as well as having chronic wrongdoing, the intervention of the United States will
have to occur. Mainly this document is speaking to Latin America and the Caribbean /Central
America. In the last few decades of the19th century, it was a period of imperial spreading for the
United States. The American story took a different route from that of its European rivals, however,

ABSTRACT: The Power of wireless sensor network technology has provided the capability of
developing large scale systems for real time monitoring. The recent years, people were unknown for
all kind of natural disaster and calamities. Natural calamities like Earthmovers (earthquake), Heavy
rainfall, Flood, Tsunami. This paper describes the evolution of a wireless sensor network system for
landslide detection in the particular area. The development of a wireless sensor network (WSN) to
detect landslides, which includes design and development of WSN for real time monitoring system. If
movements of rocks or soil are observed, the collected data sets are automatically transmitted to a
connected server system for further diagnoses. The landslide monitoring system presented in this
paper is RF transceiver and provides real time information about the current state of the monitored

When the costumers use their club cards we get all sorts of data. So we know if we have to store more
of one particular item, or give it more or less space on the shelves. This is of cause totally anonymous.
For only one reason: to personalize the experience at Tesco.
The Asian department has done outstanding we have had huge success in Thailand and in China with
serving fresh fish. Something we do not focus as much on in the European stores.
We are also very proud of staff especially in Thailand, during the flooding the staff provided the
victims of the flooding with good and fresh food, an outstanding performance.
The focus of our new initiatives will only be domestic, so we do not have a lot on our plate. We need
to focus on our quality, together with our new warmer look and feel. Make it feel like the local grocer,
with freshly baked bread and fresh vegetables. We have also give our own everyday value products a
whole new more appealing design, that indicates quality.
Clicks and Bricks is our most groundbreaking initiative, we to keep up with today s technology
otherwise we will not be on the market in the future, because of that we have created a whole new
Tesco app, where you can order your food on your phone, while you are at home, and simply just pick
up what you ordered when you get there. Or you can get your groceries delivered to your address. We
have also made new technological initiative that will blown your mind. It is a

Muscle Cells Essay
Anatomy of Muscle Cells
There are three types of muscle tissue in the human body. These muscle tissues are skeletal muscles,
smooth muscles and cardiac muscles. Each of these muscle tissues has it very own anatomical
makeup, which vary from muscle to muscle. The muscle cells in a muscle are referred to as muscle
fibers, these fibers are skeletal muscle fibers, smooth muscle fibers and cardiac muscle fibers.
The anatomy of a skeletal muscle fiber is formed during embryonic development. Skeletal muscle
fibers arise from a hundred or more small mesodermal cells called myoblasts. The mature skeletal
muscle fiber has a hundred or more nuclei. Once fusion occurs the skeletal muscle fiber will lose the
ability to undergo cell division. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The sarcoplasmic reticulum is a fluid filled system of membranous sacs. This system of sacs is similar
to smooth endplasmic reticulum in non muscle cells. In a relaxed muscle fiber the sarcoplasmic
reticulum store calcium ions, the release of these calcium cells, trigger muscle contraction.
There are two types of structures which are even smaller, they are known as thick and thin filaments.
The filaments inside of a myofibril do not extend the entire length of a muscle cell, instead they are
arranged in compartments called sarcomeres. The darker middle portion of a sarcomere is called the A
band. The A band extends the entire length of the thick filaments. The A band is a zone of overlap. The
I band is a lighter less dense area that contains the rest of the thin filaments, but has no thick filaments.
A Z disk passes through the center of each I band.
The next form of muscle fiber is smooth muscle fiber, these fibers are considerably smaller than
skeletal muscle fibers. A single smooth muscle fiber is thirty to two hundred micrometers long, thick
centered and tapered at the ends. These smooth muscle fibers have a single nucleus that is centrally
located and oval in shape. Smooth muscle fiber contains thick filaments and thin filaments. These
filaments are in ratios of 1:10 and 1:15, but are not

The Fuel Of Diesel Vehicles
Today, we live in a world that s vastly interconnected. Something that happens across seas can affect a
whole nation, several nations, or even all of them. Recently Volkswagen was put in the hot seat when
they were caught imputing software into their diesel vehicles, that makes it show a different emissions
output than was accepted by the EPA. They called this device the, defeat device. Thusly all of their
vehicles that were diesel were marketed as low emissions which turned out to be a lie. The article on
bbc.com states, The engines emitted nitrogen oxide pollutants up to 40 times above what is allowed in
the US. This is a huge blow to the company as far as public opinion goes. They lost the trust of
millions of people around the world. They have been producing allegedly clean diesel emissions for a
long time now and even included that in their advertisements. Because of this scandal they were
forced to recall millions of diesel vehicles with this device causing them to lose over $2.5 billion.
Their first quarterly loss in the past 15 years. This sounds like a lot of money but the EPA is still
considering fining Volkswagen for each car they produced and lied about. The amount they are
considering charging them is roughly $37,500 for each car which leads to a maximum fine of $18
billion. That s more than the value of most of the cars, which really shows how seriously they are
taking this. Even for a giant like VW that is a massive blow financially. From now on every

Theme Of Butterflies In Lord Of The Flies
Compare and Contrast Essay
The shift in tone and changes in the description of the surrounding environment reveal Simons
character development. The difference in how Jack is describe interacting with his environment,
shows Jacks transition into savagery. William Golding uses complex nature imagery to subtly depict
characters loss of innocence.
Butterflies are often used to reveal big ideas. As an example, Simon description of said wildlife
changes throughout the novel following changes in his personal life. Butterflies go from returning to
their roots, (58) to deserting the open space. (151). The opposing ways that butterflies are mentioned
creates the idea that they symbolize Simon no longer conforming to the group s idea of a submissive
follower. Simon is instead having revelations of his own and choosing to follow a different path.
Simon being comfortable in his own skin and aware that you know what s best for yourself shows a
maturity he previously lacked. In the same manner Jack provides an image of butterflies being too
preoccupied in the clearing to stop dancing.(149). The authors word choice develops the idea of Jacks
savagery because it is eerily similar to the phrase associated with characters killing. Yet again the
butterflies represents Jack. It seems to reveal how Jack is to focused on the pleasure he gets from
taking a life to feel any remorse and stop. Remorse is necessary to prove a person still has trace
amounts of good in them. recognizing the

The Battle Of Bloody Sunday
Title : The Battle of Bloody Sunday
Subtitle: Innocent protesters beaten by cruel officers
Joanne Blackmon marched hand and hand between two of her school teachers while they left the
Brown Chapel Church. As the group of nearly 350 victims, mostly African American, walked through
Selma, they prayed and sang.
Once the crowd reached the Edmund Pettus Bridge, they were stopped short by Alabama State
Troopers. Joanne s grip tightened around her teacher s hands. Although the group of protesters were
threatened by the troopers, they did not budge. The State Troopers showed no mercy as they brutally
attacked the peaceful mob. As she breathed in air, Joanne immediately knew what she had inhaled tear
gas. The members of the group ran ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Everyone seemed on board.
On the morning of March 7, 1969, the Selma March started.
Stopped Short Only a short time after, John Lewis and Hosea Williams led the crowd out of the
church, starting with high hope. The group of protesters marched through Selma in pairs. Their minds
were set on getting to Montgomery to confront the governor.
As they were about to cross the Edmund Pettus they were stopped short by Alabama State troopers.
Go home or go to your church! shouted one of the head State Troopers. The mob knew if they didn t
move they would be beaten, but they stood strong and prepared themselves for the worst. The troopers
threatened to attack if they did not move soon.
Exactly one minute and five seconds later, the troopers charged. The crowd was violently beaten with
billy sticks and forced to inhale the toxic tear gas. The group attacking them did not show any pity as
they repeatedly struck and pounded most of the nonviolent protesters as they attempted to scrambled
away.
The violent officers chased them halfway back to the Brown Chapel. More than 90 innocent people
were sent to the hospital shortly after.
Only two days later, the crowd gathered once again in the church and prayed. They prayed for
freedom and for their loved ones to heal soon. The building reeked of tear gas still clutching the
protesters and their clothes.

A Military Officer, And What Society And My Subordinates...
When a service member is addressed with the question, Why do you want to be a military officer?
One should reflect fully on his/her decision to integrate into the position of an Officer in the United
States Military. Each field within the Army, Air Force, Navy, and Marines, has their specific Officers,

Social Support-Giving Communication
A communication approach to the study of social support views it as an interactive process involving
support seeking behavior, the giving of support, and a response to support by the receiver (Barbee,
1990; Burleson et al., 1994; House, 1981). Support giving communication includes any behaviors with
altruistic intent directed toward another individual (Dunkel Schetter, Blasband, Feinstein, Herbert,
1992, p. 90), such as providing advice or comfort. Those who receive effective social support may
experience benefits such as feelings of well being, a sense of being accepted and understood, and an
improved ability to control and cope with stressful events (Burleson, 1994).
Many types of social support have been examined in the literature.

Background Fast food restaurant has expanded more than ever before. According to MPR News, fast
food restaurant sales make up over 50 percent of restaurant sales in France. France is known to be the
second largest fast food consumer after the United States (Amy Guttman, 2013). Burger King has

only has the number of fast food locations have increased but the numbers of French cafes have

restaurant has also grown due to the lunch hour time collapsing from 80 minutes to about 22 minutes,
making them much more convenient than traditional restaurants (Amy Guttman, 2013). Fast food
restaurants such as Panda Express have grown from a small local restaurant in 1983 of Glendale,

The Reagan Tax Cuts and Foreign Policy
During the 1980 s President Ronald Reagan s (our 40th president from
1981 to 1989) domestic policy of a substantial tax cut led to greatly increased economic prosperity for
our country. During Reagan s administration marked changes were made to the tax code and economic
statistics showed a major change for the better. However, at the same time, the Democrats controlled
the Congress and continued increased spending against Reagan s wishes. The Joint Economic
Committee stated that an across the board tax cut was not new. In the 20 s the

This act simplified and reduced taxes, but the democrats wanted to claim equal credit for the bill as
well. A stock market crash in 1987 raised questions about the nation s economic health. A new bill to
balance the federal budget became law in 1987, but the huge deficit continued to be a concern to the
government.
Congress passed Reagan s requests for cuts in taxes and in some government programs. Reagan also
won increased funds for defense. By 1982, however, the country was in an recession, which meant
that there was an extended decline in general business activity, typically three consecutive quarters of
falling real gross national product. The economy improved in 1983. But the increased defense
spending and tax cut had led to a record budget deficit. Democrats attacked
Reagan for cutting social welfare programs and called for reduced defense spending and a tax increase
in order to lower the deficit.
Foreign Policy
President Reagan through foreign policy sought to achieve peace through strength. He had learned
how to deal skillfully with Congress and obtain legislation to strengthen our national defense. In 1983,
Reagan sent U.S.
Marines to Lebanon as part of a peacekeeping force. The Marines were recalled in
1984, after some 240 had been killed in a terrorist attack. Reagan also sent U.S. troops to Grenada in
1983, to prevent what the he saw as a Cuban attempt to take over the Caribbean island nation. The

Mr Cyrus Cultural Issues
At first glance, the definition of health as provided by the World Health Organization seems to be all
encompassing. It states that health is dependent on complete well being of mental, physical, and social
faculties. However, with the study of different cultures using a public health perspective, we have
learned that cultural aspects that affect disease vary immensely from population to population. While
disease is a universal biological concept, social perceptions give an illness its cultural meaning and as
we know, these perceptions heavily influence the recognition of the disease itself. If societal
perceptions can give a disease a sense of cultural consciousness, then what can be said of their ability
to mold a cultural normality. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An assumption can be made of her living conditions based on the description of her 4th story flat.
Typically this description fits the mold for what is characteristic of public housing. Aside from the
obvious components like lack of proper diet and exercise, those of lower socioeconomic status are
exposed to other unique risk factors. People residing in public housing and urban environments can
have an array of health issues to the daily stress associated with their economic disadvantages and the
ability survive on very little means. These long periods of stress can cause an individual s mental
health to decline quite rapidly. I would argue that because of the chronic stress associated with her
living arrangements and the lack of familial support, the nature of Mrs. Jameson s mental illness is one
possessing great cultural influence. Stress can play a huge role in the health of an individual and the
persistence of chronic conditions. Mrs. Jameson, per her case study is suffering from several chronic

Introduction:
In this contemporary and fast pacing world, businesses cannot work without the assistance of proper
management. Management plays a very vital role in today s world. There are innumerable factors
which are responsible for the success of a business. One of the factors is proper management. Success
of a business depends on how well a business is able to implement management procedures, tactics
and judgments. May it be a big or a small organization, management is crucial in the workings of all

But it is not precisely like regular sciences such as physics, chemistry and biology. The chief reason
for the inaccuracy for management to be a science is that it deals with various human beings and
behavior varies from person to person. In this case, foreseeing conclusions becomes a very tedious
job. As management deals with human beings it can be considered as a social science. The principles
or theories implemented could produce innumerable outcomes, therefore it could be categorized as a
behavioral science as well.

Analysis Of A River Runs Through It By Norman Maclean
The natural world has a unique power unequivocal to anything human to make one deeply
contemplative, introspective, and observant of the universe around them. Norman Maclean testifies to
this power in his novella A River Runs Through It. Through his eulogy to the Blackfoot river Norman
Maclean captures the human soul and what it means to grow up, his story explaining how a river
affects a man. Robert Redford s movie adaptation, while maintaining the core importance of the
Blackfoot river, focuses on the interpersonal relationships Norman develops throughout his life and
how those affect his character and life choices. A River Runs through it encapsulates the emotional

For Maclean, the river was always highly personal he even refers to it as my family s river multiple
times demonstrating the profound effect it had on his upbringing. The deepest familial moments such
as Norman offering Paul help, discussing life plans, or Norman finding common ground with his
father, all occur while fishing on the Blackfoot or in transit to it.
Maclean also uses the rivers changing topography to reveal his emotions once he returns to Montana
from his time at Dartmouth, a much more metropolitan refined place. He writes, the family river
changed find that quote , and appears melancholy, but later comes to accept that things have changed
and time moves forward. Once again viewing the river as something of personal ownership reveals
Norman s own emotions about himself. He sees that the river and town has grown, with development
along the river altering its serenity but then he begins to accept the change (find quote) as part of the
cycle of growth and acceptance. Because he uses the river to represent himself, his long thoughts
about the industry developing symbolize norman s internal conflict returning to a very different
Missoula than the one he left. The moment he learns to accept that things change, like the town

Theme Of Imperialism In To Kill A Mockingbird
The other in the civil rights movement as represented in literature in harper lee s To Kill a
Mockingbird The world is created out of oppositions, divisions and separations between the one and
the Other. When people collide or meet, in that sense, in the meeting between different cultural
backgrounds they tend to define the others by defining themselves. Jacque Derrida puts it in his essay
Archive Fever: Freudian Impressions every Other is every other Other, is altogether Other (p.77).
Alternatively, as Harper lee sets it clearly in her novel To Kill a Mockingbird you never really

In addressing this matter, writers often lean toward using binary oppositions to better highlight this

Essay On Corporate Governance
The corporate governance framework is there to encourage the efficient use of resources and equally
to require accountability for the stewardship of those resources. In the context of public service or

The right to health has been recognized ever since the birth of the United Nations (UN) in 1945. The

However, it is recognized that there is still a lot of ill health that is related to diseases of poverty and
ignorance. Of the six WHO regions in the world, the African Region bears the heaviest burden of
disease (WHO, 2000). Effective and efficient implementation of national and local policies can
reverse this trend. Indeed, the world press (2008) opined that a critical challenge for countries in
Africa is to move from policy to action in the health service delivery. This move from policy to action
should be grounded on each country addressing its priority health needs and mobilizing its people to
improve the state of health service delivery at personal and community levels.
According to a World Bank report, Sri Lanka has achieved a remarkable health service delivery as a
result of devolution (World Bank 2010). This has been attributed to successful implementation of a
credible budget constraint for the hospital; reform to strengthen the accountability of managers for the
performance of the hospital through the creation of a board of external directors or trustees, or a
hospital authority to supervise the manager; and increased managerial authority with freedom to
recruit, promote, set tasks and work hours, and decide on performance rewards and sanctions. Further,
Sub Saharan Africa countries, in translating existing policies into national plans of action, should also

Comedic Violence in The Medea, The Oresteia, and Antigone...
Comedic Violence in The Medea, The Oresteia, and Antigone
Almost no Greek tragedy escapes the use of violence. The Medea, The Oresteia, Antigone, and other
classic works of Grecian tragoidia all involve huge components of violence in many prominent places,
and for all of these stories, violent action is an integral part of the play. Medea, especially, is a
character worthy of note in this regard; her tumultuous life can be plotted accurately along a path of
aggression and passionate fits, and her bloody history lends tension and ascendance to the cathartic
events of the gripping Medea. In contrast to this turbulent streak of brutality in Grecian tragedy stands
the world of Greek comedy. Violence in comedy is just as much a part ... Show more content on

In comparison to this is Lysistrata, a comedy in which violence is not shown to be an answer that
works. In this story, however, the overarching dilemma is the existence of the Peloponnesian War. For
Euripides, violence is a question and a centerpiece of intrigue, yet it is not the root of the plot.
Aristophanes, on the other hand, chooses to investigate gender relations and the concerns of daily life
by using a hollow context of violence that ostensibly motivates the actions of the characters while
avoiding center stage as an issue of any weight in the play itself.
At first glance this analysis seems wrong: it appears that Lysistrata is very much concerned with
violence. After all, Aristophanes intended to write an anti war piece. However, while this statement is
technically true, it is only a skin deep realization. In actuality, Lysistrata herself is not anti war in the
sense of being ideologically opposed to war; she is anti war only insofar as she detests the
Peloponnesian War. And yet, although the Mede is at our gates, / You ruin Greece with mad intestine
wars. / This is my first reproach to both of you, (Aristophanes 1132) says Lysistrata to the assembled
Spartan and Athenian ambassadors. In this passage, the fiery woman establishes her stance and
proclaims that she is mainly upset over the fact that the current war is more a civil war than a war
against actual enemies. Her core

Comparing Dr. Faustus And Marlowe And Mamet
The story of Faust has inspired creative works for hundreds of years. The myth features an ambitious
and intelligent man, usually a scholar, who desires more than his current situation can offer him and so
makes a dangerous pact with the devil. Interpretations of this story range from classical music and
opera to paintings and cartoons. From Goethe to Radiohead, Dr. Faustus thirst for knowledge and the
chaos this desire produces have captivated artists of all disciplines. This paper will examine two
theatrical depictions of this myth. A little more than 400 years separate the original productions of
Christopher Marlowe s The Tragic History of the Life and Death of Dr. Faustus and David Mamet s
Faustus, but both plays feature the bare ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, it is this paper s aim to examine some of the similarities and differences in Christopher
Marlowe s The Tragic History of the Life and Death of Dr. Faustus and David Mamet s Faustus,
specifically the presence of religious practices in these two texts.
Christopher Marlowe wrote The Tragic History of the Life and Death of Dr. Faustus during the
Elizabethan Era, and the original production is said to have occurred in 1592 (David M. Bevington i).
Queen Elizabeth I s reign was one of religious conflict, political turmoil, and brilliant works by artists
and therefore, church and state cannot be considered separately when discussing Elizabethan England.
Her majesty was not only the commander, but also the head of the church. Under her reign, every
English citizen was required by law to attend liturgical services. Membership to the church was a
birthright and an obligation, as inescapable as participation in the political body of the commonwealth
(Collinson 74 75). To illustrate, Richard Hooker offers an excellent image for Marlowe s society:
church and state resembled the sides or the base of a triangle (Hooker 336). Now, specifically,
Calvinism was rapidly becoming the accepted doctrine in Elizabethan England, and the religious
elements present in Marlowe s version of Faust are almost certainly rooted in Calvinism.
In the beginning of the play, Dr. Faustus dismisses his previous education as unfulfilling and makes a
point to reject Divinity. This abhorrence of

Life Will Go On
There is a common notion that money cannot buy happiness. This may be true for most, but not for
John Cheever s protagonist, Neddy Merrill, in The Swimmer . John Cheever was born May 27, 1912
in Quincy, Massachusetts. He has written many short stories for various publishers such as The
Atlantic, The Yale Review and The New Yorker. In 1930, John Cheever published his first story in The
New Republic; and in 1941, he married Mary Winternitz, with whom he had two children, Susan and

Neddy and his wife, Lucinda, could be considered quite high in their social rankings. They have been
invited and have gone to a great deal of social encounters. When Neddy is telling his route home, he
lists the name of the owners of the houses that he will pass. Most of the owners of those swimming
pools that Neddy will pass through will be those very people that he and Lucinda have declined
invitations from. The owners of the pools that Neddy will swim through are First ... the Grahams, the
Hammers, the Lears, the Howlands, and the Crosscups. [Then] he would cross Ditmar Street to the
Bunkers and come, after a short portage, to the Levys, the Welchers, and the public pool in Lancaster.
Then there were the Hallorans, the Sachses, the Biswangers, Shirley Adams, the Gilmartins, and the
Clydes (Cheever 2). The list of the names of the neighbors was one way Cheever provided concise
symbolic resonance to the story. By listing the names of the owners of the pools, it makes the short
story seem vague and blurred like Neddy was at the end from the various drinks that he had drunk at
the numerous pool owner s houses.
The next element used in The Swimmer is allusion. One of the more obvious allusions in the story is
Cheevers comparison of Neddy to a summers day . This comparison echoes one of Shakespeare s

Sweat, By Zora Neale Hurston
Sweat, a short story written by Zora Neale Hurston depicts the story of Delia, a washerwoman who is
physically and mentally abused by her husband, Sykes. As Hurston explains, Delia is a strong,
hardworking, calm, brave, and understanding woman who is able to stand with her head held high
even through all the troubles she endures. In contrast, Sykes is abusive, a coward, troubleshooter and a
man who depends on his wife to provide for him. He even has the indecency to use Delia s money to
pay for his mistress apartment. He messes with Delia to bring her down so he can be able to bring
himself up as if his masculinity depends on it. All three symbols, which are the snake, the clothes
Delia washes, and the light play an important role in this story to highlight Delia s strength and
weaknesses which finally help her find the freedom she desires from the domestic abuse that she has
to deal with. Zora Neale Hurston was born in Notasulga, Alabama on January 7, 1891. Her father,
John Hurston, was a minister and he had several years as a mayor for that town. Her mother, Lucy
Hurston, seemed to only have her family as any worries. Her childhood seemed to be perfect, it was
free from racism and poverty (Zora 1). Although, everything changed when her mother passed away
and his father remarried and soon was sent to boarding school. She was then expelled a while after her
father stopped paying for tuition so she worked in a theatrical company as a maid (Zora 1). Quitting

Towel Hut * Too much responsibility: It is no longer a towel hut. It covers not only distributing and
collecting towels but also explaining policy, taking reservations and managing palapas and customers
complaints and so on.
Recommended Solutions and Justification * Increasing the supply: The resort could provide more
palapas so that more quests can have opportunity to enjoy it. However I assume that there could be a
limitation of installing palapas by government (such as not to damage the nature). There is no
information regarding government s permission. If so, they should offer alternatives for customers.
The alternatives could be canopies or beach umbrellas. However, these should be provided free. *
Abandoning the first come, first served system: All palapas should be rented so that some customers
who choose not to pay for palapas would not feel frustrated or slighted and it is fairer for every
customer to pay for them and no one needs to line up and waste time. * Consistent and reliable pricing
strategy: The Price system should be an hourly basis not daily. For instance, the resort charges $8 /
hour for the use of a palapa. The resort needs to optimize their scarce resource wisely. * Allocating

In August 1970 a leading tobacco defense attorney, David R. Hardy, wrote a confidential letter

continued success in the defense of smoking and health litigation. The actual knowledge on the part of

Moore and Scruggs had a number of secret weapons. They took charge of explosive tobacco industry
internal documents that no one else would touch. And they protected two of the most important
whistleblowers in the history of the tobacco wars: Jeffrey Wigand, the first high level tobacco
executive to turn against the companies; and Merrell Williams, a paralegal who secretly copied
thousands of internal documents.
The two men held another trump card. They offered a deal to Bennett LeBow, CEO of Liggett amp;
Myers: break ranks with the industry and cooperate with the state attorneys general in return for
financial stability. They also managed to get a back channel to President Clinton and Senate Majority
Leader Trent Lott through political advisor Dick Morris.
Scrugg and Moore s success was not limited to getting the industry to a national settlement. For the
first time their efforts triggered a massive criminal investigation of Big Tobacco that threatens to put
some in jail for deceiving the American public. Partly because of this criminal investigation, strong
forces in the public health community opposed settlement talks.

The Effects Of Parental Involvement On Student s...
A.
Share something that you learner from the webcast that was new to you. Then, talk about ways that
you see yourself using that information within your school setting.
The webcast was very informative. A few factors that were shared never crossed my mind as being
influential in regards to parental involvement. The webcast suggested that the student s attendance rate
was greatly influenced by the involvement of their parents in their educational process. However, this
statement makes sense, but it s never crossed my mind. The webcast also shared that a student s
attitude towards their educational endeavors was also a direct relationship with the degree of parental
involvement in the student s education. Subsequently, the webcast also shared that the more parental
involvement the student has from their family; the chances of experiencing discipline problems
decrease. It s amazing how the involvement of the parents can cause a student to have such a positive
disposition towards their education. Parental involvement shows the students that the parents are
serious regarding their educational career; as a result it makes the student more accountable for their
education.
The webcast also shed some light on the phrase parental involvement. At first glance, most people
simply think that parents volunteering, sending in school supplies, attending PTA meeting, taking part
in parent teacher conferences sufficed as parental involvement. However, this is not the case at all.

section headings do not need to be in oversized font, but these may be bolded or underlined to create a

  • 2. The War Of World War II September 3, 1939 was the day that many people s lives changed. That is date of which Great Britain entered World War II. Great Britain would fight alongside the allied powers, which consisted of USSR, France, and US. The axis powers, which consisted of Germany, Italy, and Japan, would try and bomb the allied powers into surrender. This brutal war would go on for nearly five and a half years, finally ending on May 8, 1945. The end of the war marked both celebration and mourning. For Great Britain some major turning points during the war were the Battle of Britain, and the invasion scare. Many families had to make sacrifices during the war, some of them life changing. The people of Great Britain refused to go to war and were in denial, many of them would not listen to future Prime Minister Winston Churchill. Churchill warned the people about Hitler and Nazi Germany . Because of everybody s fear of the war, Britain was not prepared when it came time for the country to enter the war. After World War I, Great Britain wanted to avoid any war at all costs. At the time, Neville Chamberlain was the Prime minister of Great Britain and he wanted to keep peace throughout the country. After the first world war, Chamberlain primarily focused on being in the League of Nations and that led to the deterioration of his armed forces and turn the focus to the inside of the country. The League of Nations was founded after World War I and it was there to ensure that war never broke out again . ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Theodore Roosevelt Corollary Analysis The United States has a very long history of military actions that helped expand its power in both peacetime and war to a much higher status. After independence, the United States took military control of the North American continent, acquiring territory from the native peoples, and from other countries such as Britain, France, Mexico, and more countries. Not only seizing territory but also offering help to any allies who needed it. The Roosevelt Corollary written by Theodore Roosevelt in 1904, is a great example of how the expansion of American influence has spread throughout North and Latin America, and also Asia. In the corollary, it basically says that if a nation cannot help keep up with its standard, as well as having chronic wrongdoing, the intervention of the United States will have to occur. Mainly this document is speaking to Latin America and the Caribbean /Central America. In the last few decades of the19th century, it was a period of imperial spreading for the United States. Each of these muscle tissues has it very own anatomical makeup, which vary from muscle to muscle. The muscle cells in a muscle are referred to as muscle fibers, these fibers are skeletal muscle fibers, smooth muscle fibers and cardiac muscle fibers. John Centore3 Anatomy amp; Physiology Dr. Jain The sarcoplasmic reticulum is a fluid filled system of membranous sacs. This system of sacs is similar to smooth endplasmic reticulum in non muscle cells. In a relaxed muscle fiber the sarcoplasmic reticulum store calcium ions, the release of these calcium cells, trigger muscle contraction. There are two types of structures which are even smaller, they are known as thick and thin filaments. The filaments inside of a myofibril do not extend the entire length of a muscle cell, instead they are arranged in compartments called sarcomeres. The darker middle portion of a sarcomere is called the A band. The A band extends the entire length of the thick filaments. The A band is a zone of overlap. The I band is a lighter less dense area that contains the rest of the thin filaments, but has no thick filaments. A Z disk passes through the center of each I band. The next form of muscle fiber is smooth muscle fiber, these fibers are considerably smaller than skeletal muscle fibers. A single smooth muscle fiber is thirty to two hundred micrometers long, thick centered and tapered at the ends. These smooth muscle fibers have a single nucleus that is centrally located and oval in shape. Smooth muscle fiber contains thick filaments and thin filaments. • 9. The Fuel Of Diesel Vehicles Today, we live in a world that s vastly interconnected. Something that happens across seas can affect a whole nation, several nations, or even all of them. Recently Volkswagen was put in the hot seat when they were caught imputing software into their diesel vehicles, that makes it show a different emissions output than was accepted by the EPA. They called this device the, defeat device. Thusly all of their vehicles that were diesel were marketed as low emissions which turned out to be a lie. The article on bbc.com states, The engines emitted nitrogen oxide pollutants up to 40 times above what is allowed in the US. This is a huge blow to the company as far as public opinion goes. They lost the trust of millions of people around the world. They have been producing allegedly clean diesel emissions for a long time now and even included that in their advertisements. Because of this scandal they were forced to recall millions of diesel vehicles with this device causing them to lose over $2.5 billion. Their first quarterly loss in the past 15 years. This sounds like a lot of money but the EPA is still considering fining Volkswagen for each car they produced and lied about. • 10. Theme Of Butterflies In Lord Of The Flies Compare and Contrast Essay The shift in tone and changes in the description of the surrounding environment reveal Simons character development. The difference in how Jack is describe interacting with his environment, shows Jacks transition into savagery. William Golding uses complex nature imagery to subtly depict characters loss of innocence. Butterflies are often used to reveal big ideas. As an example, Simon description of said wildlife changes throughout the novel following changes in his personal life. Butterflies go from returning to their roots, (58) to deserting the open space. (151). The opposing ways that butterflies are mentioned creates the idea that they symbolize Simon no longer conforming to the group s idea of a submissive follower. Simon is instead having revelations of his own and choosing to follow a different path. Simon being comfortable in his own skin and aware that you know what s best for yourself shows a maturity he previously lacked. In the same manner Jack provides an image of butterflies being too preoccupied in the clearing to stop dancing.(149). The authors word choice develops the idea of Jacks savagery because it is eerily similar to the phrase associated with characters killing. Yet again the butterflies represents Jack. It seems to reveal how Jack is to focused on the pleasure he gets from taking a life to feel any remorse and stop. The Medea, The Oresteia, Antigone, and other classic works of Grecian tragoidia all involve huge components of violence in many prominent places, and for all of these stories, violent action is an integral part of the play. Medea, especially, is a character worthy of note in this regard; her tumultuous life can be plotted accurately along a path of aggression and passionate fits, and her bloody history lends tension and ascendance to the cathartic events of the gripping Medea. For Euripides, violence is a question and a centerpiece of intrigue, yet it is not the root of the plot. Aristophanes, on the other hand, chooses to investigate gender relations and the concerns of daily life by using a hollow context of violence that ostensibly motivates the actions of the characters while avoiding center stage as an issue of any weight in the play itself. At first glance this analysis seems wrong: it appears that Lysistrata is very much concerned with violence. After all, Aristophanes intended to write an anti war piece. Therefore, it is this paper s aim to examine some of the similarities and differences in Christopher Marlowe s The Tragic History of the Life and Death of Dr. Faustus and David Mamet s Faustus, specifically the presence of religious practices in these two texts. Christopher Marlowe wrote The Tragic History of the Life and Death of Dr. Faustus during the Elizabethan Era, and the original production is said to have occurred in 1592 (David M. Bevington i). Queen Elizabeth I s reign was one of religious conflict, political turmoil, and brilliant works by artists and therefore, church and state cannot be considered separately when discussing Elizabethan England. Her majesty was not only the commander, but also the head of the church. Under her reign, every English citizen was required by law to attend liturgical services. Membership to the church was a birthright and an obligation, as inescapable as participation in the political body of the commonwealth (Collinson 74 75). To illustrate, Richard Hooker offers an excellent image for Marlowe s society: church and state resembled the sides or the base of a triangle (Hooker 336). Now, specifically, Calvinism was rapidly becoming the accepted doctrine in Elizabethan England, and the religious elements present in Marlowe s version of Faust are almost certainly rooted in Calvinism. In the beginning of the play, Dr. Faustus dismisses his previous education as unfulfilling and makes a point to reject Divinity. This abhorrence of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
