The Effects Of Gun Violence On The United States
In the United States, over the past few decades, gun violence has increased massively, leading to over
10,000 gun related incidents in 2015. The main cause of the massive amount of violence in the United
States in recent decades is mainly because people who are in danger have no means to protect
themselves. This is why guns should be more accessible for citizens, so that they can protect
themselves in dangerous situations. Allowing citizens to conceal weapons would heavily decrease the
amount of incidents that occur because innocent people were unable to protect themselves. Also,
putting less control on guns would prevent crimes from even happening in the first place. If a criminal
had intentions of committing a crime, they would be much less willing if they knew that they might
possibly get shot trying to commit that crime. Thus, criminal activity and violent crimes will cease to
continue at such high rates and more people will have the ability to protect themselves in dangerous
situations. In areas with high crime rates, certain people are more affected than others, such as
minorities, children, and women. America is facing a continuing epidemic of homicides among young
black males. The number of black homicide victims killed by guns is rising at a sharp rate of fifty four
percent. Studies have shown that consistently there are more black victims than white victims. A
specific study done by the FBI has shown that per 100,000 black lives, 18.07 of people were victims

Analysis Of Annette Lareau s Unequal Childhoods
After reading Annette Lareau s book, Unequal Childhoods , I gain a better understanding of how my
childhood affected the person I am today and the person I will become. This book categorizes
Americans in classes of poor class, working class, and middle class; Lareau studies multiple families
in each of these classes, including different races. In the following essay, I will apply the same
concepts Lareau used in her book to my own life.
Daily Life My Mother, Dawn, grew up in a working class family with her parents separated and trying
to make ends meet with her Dad and two siblings. She graduated high school and went on to work at
McDonalds for a few years, before she got married. My father, Jerry, grew up poor moving different
houses every year with his mom, step dad, and five other siblings. His father died when he was three
and his step father died when he was about thirteen. Jerry dropped out of high school without
completing the ninth grade so he could work to provide for his mom and other siblings. Dawn and
Jerry married and had their first child in 1988, a daughter named Brittany. In the same year my family
moved into a predominantly white neighborhood in the town of Okalona, right by the busy streets of
Preston Highway and Outer Loop. The house is brick and was built in the early 1940 s, it is two
stories with four bedrooms and two baths, with two garages, a swimming pool, and big back yard, the
house sits on .94 acres of land. Jerry worked as a painter in the union since he was 16 and always had
the aspirations of owning his own business. Dawn stayed home to care for the home and the children.
Two years after Brittany was born, they had another daughter named Ashley in January of 1990. At
this point Jerry was still working at the Union as a painter and was attempting to start his own painting
business. In 1993, Jerry was contracted with a construction company building 20 new houses a year,
this was the start of his painting company. All through the 90 s and early 2000 s Jerry and his paint
crew were working seven days a week painting store after store and house after house. He had three
work vans and two nine man crews going non stop. This is what led the family s social class to

High Crimesdemeanor Summary
In the documentary, High Crimes and Misdemeanor (1990) produced by frontline, details the side
effects from the Iran Contra affair proposed by the Reagan Administration and the consequences of
the Reagan administration for not complying with its constitutional authority on notifying the United
States Congress on the covert operation, which is the main organ responsible for the appropriations of
funds and its allocation. The Covert Operation facilitated the sale of arms to Iran, which was under a
strict arms embargo during the hostage situation in 1979.

However, the Reagan administration avoided Congresses requests and proceeded to oversee covert
military aid by raising private and foreign funds for the contras.
Initially the agenda was to allow Israel to ship weapons to Iran and the United States would be
responsible to later resupply Israel and receive their payments in a timely manner. However,
Lieutenant Colonel Oliver North a hawkish leader of the National Security Council modified the plan
to allow the proceeds received from the sale of arms to Iran to be diverted to fund anti Sandinista and
anti communist rebels against the communist backed Nicaraguan Government.
This scandal garnered the public to become very dubious and outraged about the Reagans
Administrations ambitions within Latin America, several investigations ensued mainly by the U.S.
Congress, but the sale of weapons to Iran was not deemed a criminal offense and President Ronald
Reagan was not in violation of law because of the refusal to declassify prominent documents.

Henry Ford And The American Civil War
Henry Ford had only a modest education. He didn t invent the gasoline engine; he didn t invent the
auto mobile; he didn t really invent anything. Yet, when he died in 1947, Ford, and the company he
founded had a profound effect on the world he taught to drive. Given all that he had accomplished, it s
hard to believe Henry Ford was almost 40 when he established the Ford Motor Company. At the time
America was more agricultural than industrial. Horse less carriages were toys for a wealthy few. But
in just four decades, Henry Ford had in his own words, invented the modern age .
Henry Ford was born while the American Civil War was still raging. July 30th, 1863, William and
Mary Ford, owners of one of the more substantial homesteads in Dearborn, Michigan, had their first
surviving child named Henry. Henry Ford didn t like the hard life he had been born into of farming to
survive. Luckily going to school offered an escape from the long hours of endless chores. He was a
naturally curious child. Henry Ford was a natural born mechanic. One of the first places that he was
able to express his innate ability was when he received a wrist watch for his 13th birthday. Like a lot
of boys that wanted to learn about machines, he took the watch apart. But unlike most young boys, he
was able to put the watch perfectly back together again. But in 1876, Henry Ford s orderly world fell
apart. His beloved mother, Mary, died during childbirth. Henry was 12 when this happened, and the
loss left him

Midland Energy Resources, Inc. Essay
Midland Energy Resources, Inc.
1.0 Case Brief/Summary
Midland Energy Resources, Inc. (?Midland?) is a leading global energy firm with an array of energy
product and services. Midland operates under three distinctive business segments. The E P segment
entails searching for viable underground or underwater gas and oil fields, by drilling the exploratory
wells, and afterward operating these wells that recover, bringing raw natural gas and crude oil to the
surface. The R M segment deals in base stock lubricants and gasoline, while the petrochemicals entails
marketing and selling of various petrochemical products, including aromatics, styrene, polypropylene,
polyethylene, and lubricant and fuel additives. Midland has proven very profitable over the years,
recording $248.5B in revenues, and $42.2B in operating income. The senior VP, Janet Mortensen, has
been tasked to compute the corporate WACC, using appropriate estimates and data.
2.0: Problem Statement
The task by Ms. Mortensen to compute the weighted Cost of Capital (WACC) is vital in attaining four
objectives: (1) to support financial accounting and capital budgeting decisions, (2) for performance
assessments, (3) to inform merger and acquisition proposals, and (4) to support stock repurchase
proposals. But the cost of capital approximations by Ms. Mortensen appears to misguide these
decisions. This is because the inputs and assumptions are misleading as evidenced by criticism by the
controllers and division

The Sweet Hereafter and The Pied Piper of Hamelin Essay
The Sweet Hereafter and the Pied Piper
A tragic event can occur in no longer than a moment and produce a domino effect that can change
everything in your life. The book The Sweet Hereafter by Russell Banks contains such an event. This
book has a modernized undertone of the folk tale The Pied Piper of Hamelin by Robert Browning.
This tale is carried throughout the books entirety. Both of these stories show connections in many
ways and almost parallel one another in their basic plot of showing the painful effects disaster can
have on a small town. While the people of Hamlin had the Piper to directly blame for their miseries,
the people of Sam Dent did not.
Both stories are based on the loss of the children in a small ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

At the end of the book The Sweet Hereafter one of the only children left to survive the accident is a
young girl named Nicole Burnell. Though she escapes narrowly with her life she is crippled and
confined to a wheelchair thereafter. Her dreams of becoming a beauty queen or a rock star are dashed.
Similarly in the tale of The Pied Piper the town is left with only one child who is crippled and thus
was unable to keep up with the rest of the children as they followed the Piper into the cave dancing in
an enchanted trance.
In both stories we later learn that these characters whom are left behind almost wish they had not been
spared. The crippled boy from The Pied Piper is in fact said to be sad at not being able to share all the
pleasant sights that he believes his playmates are seeing in a heaven like land described to them by the
Piper himself. In the time immediately following the accident Nicole Burnell could be described as
having these similar feelings. In reality both of these characters disabilities ended up saving them. In
the case of the crippled boy his lameness kept him from being taken away forever by the Piper, like all
the other children. In the case of Nicole Burnell her gained disability gave her control and power over
the incestuous situation she was in with her own father, it saved her from further sexual abuse.
In the tale of the Pied Piper

I Clearly Remember My Last Moment As An Undergraduate...
I clearly remember my last moment as an undergraduate student. I had just finished my last exam for
the semester, and as I checked back over my test I reflected on my college experience. In just 7
semesters I had attended 4 different colleges, lived in 4 different cities, had 9 different jobs, took a
semester off for a competitive internship, and still managed to graduate a semester early. But of
course, it s kind of a long story.
Throughout high school my family always supported me and encouraged me to do my best, but never
pushed me to strive for a college education. I knew I wanted to go to college, but I was uncertain and
scared of the process. As a junior I applied to Chicago Scholars whose mission it was to help

Before the rug had been pulled on my U of I plans, I had applied to the competitive Disney College
Program in Florida. I learned of my acceptance at the perfect time, and committed to spend the next
semester in Florida. This was a great opportunity for me to network with some of the most ambitious
college students from around the world while I learned a lot.
While my internship with Disney provided me with the opportunity to transition to whatever was next,
it unfortunately did nothing to help my financial situation, and I found myself back at home. Living
with my dad in Chicago I worked 60 70 hours a week and completed 22 credit hours at my local
community college. During this time I pushed myself to not let circumstances hold me back and
decided to be relentless in chasing my goals. Despite taking a semester off for Disney, I received my
Associates degree on time. At a college fair, I learned about Loras College and prepared to continue
my BA at Loras in Dubuque, IA.
I started at Loras in Fall of 2014 and eagerly threw myself into the academia and school involvement
that I had been desperate for since U of I. After arriving in Iowa, I became involved with Dr. Julia
Omarzu s research team, worked part time at a Jimmy Johns and the school Library, volunteered in
Dubuque elementary schools, worked as a math tutor in a high school, did trail maintenance for a
nature preserve, and crocheted and donated baby

times got rough the parents backed off and let him make his own choices. That wasn t the best move

Consequences Of Control
The Consequences of Controlling Others
Mandy Hale once said, The only keeper of happiness is you. Stop giving people power to control your
smile, your worth and your attitude. The one shot to live your life enjoyably, is to be able to break free
from the control of others. But countless people find is tough to personally control and live their lives
to the fullest. This does not just result in a change in personality, but a change in the society. When
people allow themselves to be controlled by others, the consequences can be devastating. One way
these controlling natures can result in a negative consequence is that people cannot display their true
selves. Connie Schultz writes about her feelings as a child: I grew up surrounded by children ... Show

By doing this, the child gains more courage to stand up. In the same way, to stand up to others is
having the courage to deep down in their heart. According to Jessica, a student of Charleston,
Mississippi High school, the horrors Connie were facing were negligible: I started hanging out with
Calvin; and my parents threatened me and threatened me and threatened me (Prom Night in
Mississippi n.pag.). It is unacceptable for these controlling parents to employ their children to do what
they want. But, threatening a child to do what you want is repugnant landing far beyond unacceptable
demeanor. As a matter of fact, inviting yourself into others lives in order to control them is ghastly,
too. Aunt Alexandra, in the book To Kill a Mockingbird, does just this: We decided that it would be
best for you to have some feminine influence. It won t be many years, Jean Louise, before you become

Examples Of Truman Capote s Control Over Language
Capote s Control Over Language
By using vivid sentences with descriptive details and keen word choices, Capote is able to paint an
image of Holcomb as a soft, easygoing town. When working on this novel, Truman Capote traveled to
Holcomb, Kansas to gather information by conducting interviews with the residents and talking to the
police, reading newspapers, and interrogating Hickock and Smith in their jail cells. His visits, as well
as his writing career, give him the proper credibility to write about this famed town. Capote s rendition
of the tragedy of one night on a Kansas farm as he tells it in his unique literary genre adds to the
authenticity of the piece. In 1959, when the Clutter family was murdered, Capote began working ...

white cluster of grain elevators, and hard blue skies down to the direst mud roads that it reflects the

indicate a natural, untainted presence that connotes benevolence. Further, Capote uses a lot of commas
in his writing, for example, he writes, The land is flat, and the views are awesomely extensive; horses,

longer pauses with the use of commas contributing to a feeling of tranquility in the town. In addition,
unusual comparisons like the grain elevators rising like Greek temples stimulate the mind to take

Love Me Tinder By Henrick Karoliszyn Essay
Snapchat, Facebook, Twitter, tumblr, Instagram, Tinder all of these most likely sound a little familiar.
They are all social media sites that are easily accessible through our iPhones or Galaxies or any other
phone really. In the Emily Witt s essay Love Me Tinder , which is part of the bigger story as to how
Tinder came to be, along with some personal experiences of the people involved in the earlier
development of the application. The discussion centers around the ever changing motion of romantic
and social domains in response to online dating sites like Tinder, where people can get together for
regular hook ups or casual dates, among other things, without commitment or the complications of
things getting too serious. Witt wonders what this foreshadows for the human connection through the
online world where people are just constantly connecting, but at the same time, not really connecting
either. In Precognitive Police by Henrick Karoliszyn, he discusses a different and, in a lot of ways, the
more troubling consequences of computer technology in his essay, where crimes can be prevented
through various algorithms that can pinpoint criminals before they commit crimes, raising a countless
number of questions concerning the fourth amendment. But there is an issue an issue of us
dehumanizing each other. Nowadays, our first impressions of people become these online profiles of
them or files of them along with a history of them and the things they have done. These new

How Did Albert Einstein Impact The World
Albert Einstein and his Effect on the World
We can t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.
(Collected Quotes) This is a quote from one of the most influential minds in science of the 20th
Century. Albert Einstein was named Person of the Century by Time Magazine in 1999. (Mastin) Albert
Einstein was so influential to the world that his name has become synonymous with genius. (Isaacson)
He worked on many things in the field of physics that changed the way people think about the world
as well as working on social issues of the time such as working with pacifist, anti war organizations
and helping Jews escape persecution during the Holocaust.
Einstein s Theory of Special Relativity made major contributions to the field of physics. The Theory
of Special Relativity states that the speed of light is the same for all observers regardless at what speed
that observer is moving. (Mastin) His Theory of Special Relativity comes mostly ... Show more

considered one of the pillars of modern physics. (Mastin) This theory replaces Newton s Law of

the bending of light and wormholes. (Mastin) The existence of black holes is important to the field of
physics because it is speculated that all galaxies revolve around super massive black holes. A year
after publishing his original paper he added the concept of the cosmological constant which works as
an anti gravity force. (Mastin) This force prevents the universe from collapsing on itself.(Mastin) At
the time people just thought of it as a mathematical fix and Einstein considered it his greatest blunder

The Technological Changes Has Become Astronomical
Growing Up Four generations will be discussed starting with information on the technological
changes which has become astronomical. My grandparents saw a lot of inventions that paved the way
for the younger generation. Things that were coming to be, kind of took a stand still at least for me.
But my father and mothers parents were amazed at how things had transpired like indoor plumbing,
automobiles, and the television. When growing up indoor plumbing was not installed in my
grandparents house, but the outhouse was hidden from view. It was also kept clean with new paint,
now and then, and always a tissue roll or two. Ours was not only a sight, but could be seen from the
road, and we would try to sneak out when it was needed to be used. We did not want our friends on the
bus to catch us running to and fro, and guess that we did not have an indoor bathroom like other
homes. Couple of dad s sisters never learned to drive, but the youngest one sported the very latest year
model, and worked outside the home, as a school teacher. Women in the work field, but men still took
the lead, and that would be the day not to mention a sight to see, a woman pumping gas, but that day
happened for me. We were the opposite of dads sisters on the perils of driving, (well with the
exception of two sisters that were scared to death too) the sooner we learned to drive, the sooner we
could escape the hell that was our life. But now things have changed as our generation gave birth, we

Regional Differences Between The Northern And Southern...
1. The first important difference between the northern and southern colonies were the motives people
had in choosing where to settle. The northern colonies primarily consisted of people who were looking
for religious freedom. It was also comprised of men who were well versed in law and government. A
common purpose unified the colonists in the north and helped to create tight knit communities. As a
result, the northern states thrived. There was a dramatic increase in population and a longer life span.
Economic gain is what drove settlers south. These colonies were mostly comprised of young men with
little to no claim in English society. Large plantations replaced tight knit communities. A lack of
purpose in religious and social objectives stunted the growth of the southern colonies. By the mid to
late 1700 s the southern states began to stabilize and population began to increase. 2. The second
difference between the northern and southern colonies were the regional differences between the
people. Religion dominated the northern colonies. It governed the culture as well as the daily choices
people made. In the north education and literacy were important and as a result there were
opportunities to go to school and be educated. In the north, most of men were intellects and many
were university educated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Economy is the third difference. The northern states depended on manufacturing and trade to fuel their
economy. The growing season was much shorter than that of the south. As a result, northerners looked
to other ways of making money. Many became artisans and tradesmen. The shorter farming seasons
also reduced the need for slave labor in the north. In contrast, the south relied primarily on agriculture.
While land owners learned what crops to grow the economy in the south continued to be unstable. By
the early 1700 s plantation owners began growing various kinds of crops instead of relying solely on
tobacco. This helped to stabilize and grow the southern

Developing A Sustainable Marketing And Human Resource...
Description of the Project Proposal
The project requirement as I understand is to develop a sustainable marketing and human resource
structure for a well established Childcare centre that caters for local families with pre school aged
children in the surrounding suburbs and Swinburne University community.
This structure must have a low financial budget and also cater for further expansion in the future. The
client has indicated that they are actively seeking to advertise and raise the view of Kindergarten with
the aim of filling both 3 Year old and 4 year old programs to their capacity. Therefore it is very
important that the planned structure can fulfil the requirements of the clients. It is also mentioned that
the client is very cautious of a structure that all new individuals can follow even if they don t have the
right skills and experience needed to finish the task. This is proposed in the form of the Annual
Marketing Plan, which will be conducted by volunteers who constantly keep changing every year.
Therefore this designed structure must cater for the client with this particular need. Furthermore, the
client has indicated an interest in the professional development of their staff and would like to conduct
programs that would help the staff be motivated in the work they perform. Although this is not yet
confirmed as a definite trial, the designed structure should be able to achieve this possibility.

Moral Developement Model
Lawrence Kohlberg believe that most Americans were at stage 3 and stage 4 of his moral
developement model. I agree with Kohlberg s take on stage 3 but I totally disagree with his take on
stage 4. In my opinion, most Americans are at stage 1 and stage 3. In todays day and age people are
more concerned with how others preceive them and people want to be socially accepted by others. In
addition to people wanting social acceptance from others, they do things morally to avoid the backlash
of negative consequences from authority or being punished by authorities.
I accept Kohlberg s choice on stage 3, many Americans do want to be liked, and admired. According
to the text, people in this stage justify what is morally right through the acceptance ... Show more

Many laws and rules are put in place to protect people from being harmed, but people stay clear from
breaking them from fear of disciplinary actions. I must admit that I myself and others I know have
done moral acts to avoid consequences and sanctions not thinking about my safety but thinking about
the punishment if I do so. For example, when I was in high school me and my friends use to jaywalk
across the street because the crosswalk was so far from where we were headed, but if there was a
sheriff s officer s vehicle sitting near by we would avoid this illegal act of jaywalking so we won t get
in trouble. To be honest, there are many other acts I stay away from so I won t receive discipline from
authoritative figures and I am sure that is the same reason why many other Americans follow the rules
and abide by the law.
To conclude, Americans fall under stage 1 and stage 3 of Kohlberg s moral development theory in my
opinion. Most people yearn for acceptance from others such as friends, family, and people they don t
fully now by acting morally so they would be seen as a morally good person. People also take part in
moral acts so they won t be punished for doing otherwise. Out of all the six stages of Kohlberg moral
development I trully believe these two stage apply more to todays American

Sir Issac Newton s Life
Sir Issac Newton was an English physicist and mathematician. He is considered by the world as one of
the most influential scientists ever. He was born on Christmas Day in 1642. He never knew his father
since he had died before Newton was born. As a young man, his mother tried to get him to go into
farming but he hated it. Newton convinced his mother to let him go back to school and he became the
great scientist that everyone knows about today. In 1687, he published a work called Philosphiae
Naturails Principia Mathematica which is where the world first was able to read about the laws of
motion that he discovered and explained. These three physical laws would lay the foundation for
classical mechanics. They describe the relationship between a body and the forces acting upon it, and
its motion in response to those forces.
The first law states that when viewed in a inertial reference frame, an object either remains at rest or
continues to move at a constant velocity, unless acted upon by an external force. This is often referred
to as the law of inertia. What Newton means is that there is a natural tendency for objects to keep
doing what they are doing. An object at rest tends to stay at rest and an object in motion tends to stay
in motion until the object is affected by something outside of it. This is inertia. There is no way to
measure inertia but you can compare it. You can compare mass and momentum to get an idea of the
inertia of an object. This law wasn t

Cain And Abel Research Paper
Abel was killed by his older brother Cain. Genesis 4 shares the adult lives of brothers, Cain and Abel.
Cain and Abel were sons of Adam and Eve; however, Cain became very jealous and envious of his
younger brother, Abel. The motive of Cain s jealousy towards his brother, Abel, derived from Abel s
worship offering being accepted by God, their Creator. Abel s offering to God was from the yield of
the first fruit of his flock. Cain also provided a worship offering to God. Nonetheless, Cain s presented
offering wasn t acceptable. Hence, an envious spirit became birthed within Cain, and Cain murdered
his brother, Abel, because God accepted Abel s worship offering but didn t accept Cain s offering. God
became displeased with Cain and vowed that the ground would no longer yield its fruit towards Cain.
In other words, God is not honored with murder. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Social Cognitive Theory Main Concepts Essay
Social Cognitive Theory Main Concepts: According to the Social Cognitive Theory, people learn by
observation and modeling behavior. Albert Bandura developed the social cognitive theory in 1986.
Bandura believes that people obtain knowledge and how to function by modeling behavior from
others by interacting with others. The main highlight of his theory is that people learn by observation,
imitation and modeling behavior within the social environment (Merriam, 2014)). Individual
remember the consequences associated with individual behavior and used this information to guide
subsequent behavior. For example, an observed action elicits an instinctive drive to model the
behavior. Although the social learning theory states that people learn by observation, learning does not
always lead to aggressive behavior. The social cognitive theory (SCT) integrates interaction between
behavior, personal factor, cognition and environment which is referred to as the reciprocal causation
model However, Bandura does not suggest that these three factors contribute to behavior (Bandura,
2012).
Andragogy:
On the other hands, andragogy is a theory developed by Malcolm Shepherd Knowles in 1980 s.
Andragogy focuses on the science of adult learning and self directive learning. The main highlights of
this approach are self concept, learner experience, readiness, orientation, and motivation. In self
concepts, as a human matures they move from being dependent towards self directed

Reforms of the German Education System Essay
Reforms of the German education system:
The abolition of the divided secondary school system and a prolonged integrated primary school
In Germany at present six to ten year old pupils visit primary school from first to fourth form. At the
age of ten an allocation takes place: the pupils are divided into four groups depending on intelligence
and achievements at school. The ‘Gymnasium , which is roughly equivalent to grammar school, is
visited by the best ones, and their final examination after eight years of attendance, the ‘Abitur that
more or less corresponds to A levels, allows them to go to university. The average pupils attend the so
called ‘Realschule , and the weak ones go to the ‘Hauptschule for five respectively six years. ...

But the majority of educationalists see the necessity of an early allocation as out dated. No other
country in the world sorts out its pupils as early as Germany. The individual support of pupils is also
possible in very heterogeneous learning groups. The highly talented pupils can be individually
encouraged as well as the pupils who have big problems with learning. The only prerequisite for this
individual support is the fact that not everybody must acquire the same knowledge at school, but each
pupil must obtain a knowledge, which is tailor made for his or her personality and character.
Everybody must have a good individual development of his or her capacities and learning skills. For
this reason the training and further education of teachers must contain how to make distinctions
between highly and less talented pupils in heterogeneous classes.
The divided secondary education system in Germany has a concept, which is very controversial.
Ignoring heterogeneity and distinction due to the fact that they are less comfortable and an attitude
which says: ‘The right pupil for the right school, and if the lesson fails, it is because of the wrong
pupil has bad consequences. Pupils who feel themselves as not being welcome at a place where the
decision on their future is made, unreasonable demands on their performance and speed of learning
before they can develop confidence in their abilities, end in a vicious circle of mutual expectations and
ascriptions.

The Goals For The Millennium Development Goals Essay
189 United Nations Member States agreed to achieve 8 goals for The UN Millennium Development
Goals (MDGs) from 2000 to 2015 for fighting poverty, hunger, disease, illiteracy, environmental
degradation, and discrimination against women in the word. In addition, tuberculosis (TB) was also
the sixth goal of MDGs leading cause of death worldwide. The WHO estimated over 9.6 million
people fall ill with TB in 2014: 5.4 million men, 3.2 million women and 1.0 million children.
(WHO,2014)
Tuberculosis (TB) was identified as a highly infectious disease, was transmitted primarily via
inhalation and caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB). After inhalation, MTB came into lung
before ending up in alveoli where macrophages recognized and destroyed tuberculosis bacteria.
However, macrophage cannot kill all of MTB so the survivors infected and hijacked macrophage.
Amount of MTB also increase continuously until bursting the macrophage leading to cause further
infection and extracellular bacilli. Overtime, the mixture of blood and sputum in lungs tuberculosis
was formed when the centers of granulomas necrotize was infected by MTB. (Niemi, 2014)
Therefore, antimicrobial agents were used in the treatment of TB including TB treatment and
antimicrobial activity such as isoniazid, pyrazinamide and ethambutol for initial regimens; and
capreomycin, viomycin or cycloserine in recent years. There were some drugs were used for
indication including rifamycins, aminoglycosides and fluoroquinolones.

Tokugawa s Contribution To The Collapse Of A Civilization
When civilizations begin they have enough resources and food to last them a while, but as the
population grows and the city becomes more advanced, problems start to occur. The amount of
resources will start to die down and the citizens won t have enough to sustain themselves. There are
many factors that contribute to the collapse of a society, but environmental issues such as
deforestation, is one of the larger reasons for a civilization s downfall. Although civilizations such as
Easter Island and Maya collapsed partly due to deforestation which was caused by their inability to
control the supply of trees, Tokugawa was a civilization that endured through deforestation by creating
new solutions and finding new resources to sustain their civilizations. ... Show more content on

The growing population of the world demands shelter, food, and clothes. This need for the resources
that trees supply is high enough that it seems acceptable for a large percent of forests to be destroyed,
but this brings up the issue of whether there is enough resources to last forever or whether they will
run out. If the world runs out of the needed supplies to sustain human life then the answer to the
question, are we doomed, becomes extremely evident. Without trees, civilization will lack the
resources needed to keep a healthy diet and a stable shelter. Not only that, but the amount of fresh
oxygen, which we get from trees, will decrease. So as long as the world s resources are preserved for
as long as the human race continues to live and thrive, then we should not be doomed, but as natural
resources begin to disappear it becomes more and more possible that the world and everyone in it

The Effect Of Concentration On The Rate Of Reaction By...
The hypothesis of this experiment was that an increase in concentration will increase the rate of
reaction by decreasing the time taken for the colour change to occur. Figure 1.1 shows time on the x
axis and concentration on the y axis, it can be seen that as [reactant] decreases, time increases. Thus,
the results correlate with the hypothesis that an increase in concentration will produce a faster reaction
time and subsequently a larger reaction rate regardless of change in [KIO3] or [Na2S2O5], both
reactants produce the same result.
The second part of the hypothesis was that an increase in [B] and decrease in [A] will still increase the
overall rate of reaction, however it will cause a slow spread of colour compared to a rapid colour
change. This wasn t specifically recorded by timing, however, it was noted on the 9/5/16 that when
lower concentrations of KIO3 were tested, there was a slow spread of colour. On the 13/5/16, when
testing Na2S2O5, there was no vast change in colour spread time. Though, all the concentrations
tested of Na2S2O5 were fairly similar. If, for example, 1M Na2s2O5 was tested against 0.1M KIO3,
the reaction would definitely occur quickly, however, the spread of colour could be slow since a large
quantity of I2 has been used up to cancel the significantly larger amount of HSO3 ions. For what has
been observed, the second part of the hypothesis is plausible. Though, this is an area of investigation
which needs to be further investigated to be

Childhood Autism Spectrum Disorders Autism has been on the rise in the past 20 years, and is getting
dangerously close to reaching epidemic proportions (Zelan, 1). Statistically, Autism rates have been

more likely to have Autism than girls (Castrogiovanni). The causes, symptoms, diagnosis, and

There is no current test to determine if anyone in the family has the autistic gene , but studies are still
underway (Fredericks, 33). An excess of testosterone in utero may be a link to or cause of Autism. The
child would, in theory, be too male . Babies with too much testosterone during development may have
a higher risk of developing Autism (Fredericks, 38). At one point, Autism was thought to be caused by
the live vaccines given in childhood, such as MMR. The idea was that the multiple, live vaccines
triggered Autism in children who may have a genetic predisposition for it. The case was closed several
years ago due to a lack of usable information (Fredericks, 39). Though there is no noted cause, Autism
has several marking symptoms. An extreme lack of social skills is usually the biggest and most
apparent marker of Autism. The lack of social skills can be as severe as no speech whatsoever, but can
be as mild as awkwardness in social situation and failure to develop relationships (Autism,
Communication). Babies with Autism do not seem to want human contact or interaction. They may
cry when they are picked up, refuse cuddling, or they may not lift arms indicating wanting to be held
(Fredericks, 16). Obsessing or being hyper focused on an object or subject can also be an obvious
social marker of Autism. Sensory

How Legionnaire s Disease Is An Important Public Health...
Introduction
Legionnaire s disease is an important public health problem that can cause substantial morbidity and
mortality.1 This bacterial infection is caused primarily by the gram negative bacteria, Legionella
pneumophila, found in freshwater environments throughout the world. 2, 3
Legionnaires disease was initially described in 1976, after a major respiratory outbreak among
attendees of an American Legion convention.4 L. pneumophila causes a severe inflammatory
pneumonia that primarily affects susceptible patients as a result of advanced age, underlying
debilitating conditions or immunosuppression.5 Environmental risk factors such as cooling towers or

11Macrolides, doxycycline, and quinolones are the most commonly prescribed effective antibiotics,
and preventive measures have been widely adopted in public and private institutions. 12
Public health efforts have largely focused on the identification of outbreaks of legionellosis, followed
by investigation and source control. The recent outbreak in the city of New York has emphasized the
need to recognize Legionnaires disease as a common community and hospital acquired pneumonia.
Health care workers should have a high clinical suspicion of L. pneumophila in any patient with
unexplained pneumonia and risk factors for Legionnaire s disease. Routine testing has been
discouraged for all outpatients with community acquired pneumonia and further testing should be
assessed on a case by case basis. This review summarizes the epidemiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis
and management of Legionnaires disease. A better understanding of the risks associated with
Legionnaires disease would allow state and local entities to better target preventive measures and
improve clinician awareness.
Epidemiology
Almost 40 years ago, Legionella pneumophila was initially recognized as the cause of a major
respiratory outbreak among attendees of an American Legion convention at a hotel in Philadelphia.4

Liberalism And Realism In International Relations
Many scholars have observed IR (International relations) through different theoretical lens throughout
time, the two most debated on theoretical lens in international relation are liberalism and realism.
Realism according to Korab Karpowicz is the view of international politics in which states are only
concerned with there own self interest, security and struggle of power (Korab Karpowicz/2017).
While on the other hand liberalism defined by John Ikenberry is the focus of society, interdependence
and progressive change (Ikenberry 2009/pg.204 205).Although realism sees the world in a pessimistic
view, it is the most powerful descriptor of IR. This essay will support the claim that realism has
provided a more convincing description of IR through the analysis of power lust, self security and
economic greed states have shown throughout time. However the essay will also entertain liberalist
arguments through the view of interdependence and common interest.
Whether it is the domination of one man over another or one state dominating another it has always
been in human nature to seek power over others. Power lust is key in the understanding international
relations. According to various realist scholars Of all people s evil ways, none are more prevalent or
dangerous than their instinctive lust for power and their desire to dominate others (Kegley 2017/
pg.28). The Nazis lust for power over Europe in the 19th century is a key example of natural lust for
power that has been

Types Of Simulation Software, And Investigating Software...
There are many types of simulation software, and investigating software component metadata for all
of them is infeasible. The scope of this research is restricted to one important class of simulation
software, the area of semi automated forces (SAF) systems. As Petty describes in [14], semi
automated forces (SAF) systems are computer software systems to generate and control autonomous
entities (such as tanks, soldiers, or aircraft) in a simulation using a combination of behavior generation
algorithms and human operator commands. The SAF entities exist in a battlefield that is a simulated
subset of the real world, so the physical events and phenomena on the battlefield must be modeled.
SAF controlled entities should obey the laws of physics. The accuracy of the SAF physics models is
important to the utility of the simulation. Exactly how accurate those models must be, depends on how
the system will be used. It is not uncommon when the real time performance of the simulation is more
important than high accuracy, to have high fidelity models replaced with lower fidelity models based
on look up tables. Figure 1.1 A screenshot from ModSAF, a SAF system. An important example of
semi automated forces is One Semi Automated Forces (OneSAF). In [15] Parsons states that OneSAF
is the U. S. Army s newest constructive battlefield simulation and SAF system. OneSAF is intended to
replace a number of legacy entity based simulations and to serve a range of applications including

  • 2. The Effects Of Gun Violence On The United States In the United States, over the past few decades, gun violence has increased massively, leading to over 10,000 gun related incidents in 2015. The main cause of the massive amount of violence in the United States in recent decades is mainly because people who are in danger have no means to protect themselves. This is why guns should be more accessible for citizens, so that they can protect themselves in dangerous situations. Allowing citizens to conceal weapons would heavily decrease the amount of incidents that occur because innocent people were unable to protect themselves. Also, putting less control on guns would prevent crimes from even happening in the first place. If a criminal had intentions of committing a crime, they would be much less willing if they knew that they might possibly get shot trying to commit that crime. Thus, criminal activity and violent crimes will cease to continue at such high rates and more people will have the ability to protect themselves in dangerous situations. In areas with high crime rates, certain people are more affected than others, such as minorities, children, and women. America is facing a continuing epidemic of homicides among young black males. The number of black homicide victims killed by guns is rising at a sharp rate of fifty four percent. Studies have shown that consistently there are more black victims than white victims. A specific study done by the FBI has shown that per 100,000 black lives, 18.07 of people were victims of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Analysis Of Annette Lareau s Unequal Childhoods After reading Annette Lareau s book, Unequal Childhoods , I gain a better understanding of how my childhood affected the person I am today and the person I will become. This book categorizes Americans in classes of poor class, working class, and middle class; Lareau studies multiple families in each of these classes, including different races. In the following essay, I will apply the same concepts Lareau used in her book to my own life. Daily Life My Mother, Dawn, grew up in a working class family with her parents separated and trying to make ends meet with her Dad and two siblings. She graduated high school and went on to work at McDonalds for a few years, before she got married. My father, Jerry, grew up poor moving different houses every year with his mom, step dad, and five other siblings. His father died when he was three and his step father died when he was about thirteen. Jerry dropped out of high school without completing the ninth grade so he could work to provide for his mom and other siblings. Dawn and Jerry married and had their first child in 1988, a daughter named Brittany. In the same year my family moved into a predominantly white neighborhood in the town of Okalona, right by the busy streets of Preston Highway and Outer Loop. The house is brick and was built in the early 1940 s, it is two stories with four bedrooms and two baths, with two garages, a swimming pool, and big back yard, the house sits on .94 acres of land. Jerry worked as a painter in the union since he was 16 and always had the aspirations of owning his own business. Dawn stayed home to care for the home and the children. Two years after Brittany was born, they had another daughter named Ashley in January of 1990. At this point Jerry was still working at the Union as a painter and was attempting to start his own painting business. In 1993, Jerry was contracted with a construction company building 20 new houses a year, this was the start of his painting company. All through the 90 s and early 2000 s Jerry and his paint crew were working seven days a week painting store after store and house after house. He had three work vans and two nine man crews going non stop. This is what led the family s social class to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

High Crimesdemeanor Summary In the documentary, High Crimes and Misdemeanor (1990) produced by frontline, details the side effects from the Iran Contra affair proposed by the Reagan Administration and the consequences of the Reagan administration for not complying with its constitutional authority on notifying the United States Congress on the covert operation, which is the main organ responsible for the appropriations of funds and its allocation. The Covert Operation facilitated the sale of arms to Iran, which was under a strict arms embargo during the hostage situation in 1979. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the Reagan administration avoided Congresses requests and proceeded to oversee covert military aid by raising private and foreign funds for the contras. Initially the agenda was to allow Israel to ship weapons to Iran and the United States would be responsible to later resupply Israel and receive their payments in a timely manner. However, Lieutenant Colonel Oliver North a hawkish leader of the National Security Council modified the plan to allow the proceeds received from the sale of arms to Iran to be diverted to fund anti Sandinista and anti communist rebels against the communist backed Nicaraguan Government. This scandal garnered the public to become very dubious and outraged about the Reagans Administrations ambitions within Latin America, several investigations ensued mainly by the U.S. Congress, but the sale of weapons to Iran was not deemed a criminal offense and President Ronald Reagan was not in violation of law because of the refusal to declassify prominent documents. However, key actors within the administration were charged for being an accomplice to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Henry Ford And The American Civil War Henry Ford had only a modest education. He didn t invent the gasoline engine; he didn t invent the auto mobile; he didn t really invent anything. Yet, when he died in 1947, Ford, and the company he founded had a profound effect on the world he taught to drive. Given all that he had accomplished, it s hard to believe Henry Ford was almost 40 when he established the Ford Motor Company. At the time America was more agricultural than industrial. Horse less carriages were toys for a wealthy few. But in just four decades, Henry Ford had in his own words, invented the modern age . Henry Ford was born while the American Civil War was still raging. July 30th, 1863, William and Mary Ford, owners of one of the more substantial homesteads in Dearborn, Michigan, had their first surviving child named Henry. Henry Ford didn t like the hard life he had been born into of farming to survive. Luckily going to school offered an escape from the long hours of endless chores. He was a naturally curious child. Henry Ford was a natural born mechanic. One of the first places that he was able to express his innate ability was when he received a wrist watch for his 13th birthday. Like a lot of boys that wanted to learn about machines, he took the watch apart. But unlike most young boys, he was able to put the watch perfectly back together again. But in 1876, Henry Ford s orderly world fell apart. His beloved mother, Mary, died during childbirth. Henry was 12 when this happened, and the loss left him ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The senior VP, Janet Mortensen, has been tasked to compute the corporate WACC, using appropriate estimates and data. 2.0: Problem Statement The task by Ms. Mortensen to compute the weighted Cost of Capital (WACC) is vital in attaining four objectives: (1) to support financial accounting and capital budgeting decisions, (2) for performance assessments, (3) to inform merger and acquisition proposals, and (4) to support stock repurchase proposals. But the cost of capital approximations by Ms. Mortensen appears to misguide these decisions. • 9. The Sweet Hereafter and The Pied Piper of Hamelin Essay The Sweet Hereafter and the Pied Piper A tragic event can occur in no longer than a moment and produce a domino effect that can change everything in your life. The book The Sweet Hereafter by Russell Banks contains such an event. This book has a modernized undertone of the folk tale The Pied Piper of Hamelin by Robert Browning. This tale is carried throughout the books entirety. Both of these stories show connections in many ways and almost parallel one another in their basic plot of showing the painful effects disaster can have on a small town. While the people of Hamlin had the Piper to directly blame for their miseries, the people of Sam Dent did not. Both stories are based on the loss of the children in a small ... Though she escapes narrowly with her life she is crippled and confined to a wheelchair thereafter. Her dreams of becoming a beauty queen or a rock star are dashed. Similarly in the tale of The Pied Piper the town is left with only one child who is crippled and thus was unable to keep up with the rest of the children as they followed the Piper into the cave dancing in an enchanted trance. In both stories we later learn that these characters whom are left behind almost wish they had not been spared. The crippled boy from The Pied Piper is in fact said to be sad at not being able to share all the pleasant sights that he believes his playmates are seeing in a heaven like land described to them by the Piper himself. In the time immediately following the accident Nicole Burnell could be described as having these similar feelings. In reality both of these characters disabilities ended up saving them. In the case of the crippled boy his lameness kept him from being taken away forever by the Piper, like all the other children. In the case of Nicole Burnell her gained disability gave her control and power over the incestuous situation she was in with her own father, it saved her from further sexual abuse. The northern colonies primarily consisted of people who were looking for religious freedom. It was also comprised of men who were well versed in law and government. A common purpose unified the colonists in the north and helped to create tight knit communities. As a result, the northern states thrived. There was a dramatic increase in population and a longer life span. Economic gain is what drove settlers south. These colonies were mostly comprised of young men with little to no claim in English society. Large plantations replaced tight knit communities. A lack of purpose in religious and social objectives stunted the growth of the southern colonies. By the mid to late 1700 s the southern states began to stabilize and population began to increase. 2. He was born on Christmas Day in 1642. He never knew his father since he had died before Newton was born. As a young man, his mother tried to get him to go into farming but he hated it. Newton convinced his mother to let him go back to school and he became the great scientist that everyone knows about today. In 1687, he published a work called Philosphiae Naturails Principia Mathematica which is where the world first was able to read about the laws of motion that he discovered and explained. These three physical laws would lay the foundation for classical mechanics. They describe the relationship between a body and the forces acting upon it, and its motion in response to those forces. The first law states that when viewed in a inertial reference frame, an object either remains at rest or continues to move at a constant velocity, unless acted upon by an external force. This is often referred to as the law of inertia. What Newton means is that there is a natural tendency for objects to keep doing what they are doing. An object at rest tends to stay at rest and an object in motion tends to stay in motion until the object is affected by something outside of it. This is inertia. There is no way to measure inertia but you can compare it. You can compare mass and momentum to get an idea of the inertia of an object. This law wasn t ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hence, an envious spirit became birthed within Cain, and Cain murdered his brother, Abel, because God accepted Abel s worship offering but didn t accept Cain s offering. God became displeased with Cain and vowed that the ground would no longer yield its fruit towards Cain. In other words, God is not honored with murder. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Moses died at an old age of 120 years old. When Moses died, he was still quite strong in his strength and vision. Moses posture was likely still very erect. Indeed his mind was still strong, and God allowed Moses to see all the land that He would give to the descendants of Abraham. Moses eyesight was so strong at 120 years old that he could clearly see far into the western sea and as far as Zoar. God loved Moses so much that He wanted Moses to at least see the Promised Land even though Moses would not get an opportunity to enter into it. God buried Moses Himself when he died, but He wouldn t allow anyone to know where Moses burial was located. After Moses death, the Israelites grieved, wept and mourned for Moses for thirty ... • 28. Social Cognitive Theory Main Concepts Essay Social Cognitive Theory Main Concepts: According to the Social Cognitive Theory, people learn by observation and modeling behavior. Albert Bandura developed the social cognitive theory in 1986. Bandura believes that people obtain knowledge and how to function by modeling behavior from others by interacting with others. The main highlight of his theory is that people learn by observation, imitation and modeling behavior within the social environment (Merriam, 2014)). Individual remember the consequences associated with individual behavior and used this information to guide subsequent behavior. For example, an observed action elicits an instinctive drive to model the behavior. Although the social learning theory states that people learn by observation, learning does not always lead to aggressive behavior. The social cognitive theory (SCT) integrates interaction between behavior, personal factor, cognition and environment which is referred to as the reciprocal causation model However, Bandura does not suggest that these three factors contribute to behavior (Bandura, 2012). Andragogy: On the other hands, andragogy is a theory developed by Malcolm Shepherd Knowles in 1980 s. Andragogy focuses on the science of adult learning and self directive learning. The main highlights of this approach are self concept, learner experience, readiness, orientation, and motivation. In self concepts, as a human matures they move from being dependent towards self directed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Reforms of the German Education System Essay Reforms of the German education system: The abolition of the divided secondary school system and a prolonged integrated primary school In Germany at present six to ten year old pupils visit primary school from first to fourth form. At the age of ten an allocation takes place: the pupils are divided into four groups depending on intelligence and achievements at school. The ‘Gymnasium , which is roughly equivalent to grammar school, is visited by the best ones, and their final examination after eight years of attendance, the ‘Abitur that more or less corresponds to A levels, allows them to go to university. The average pupils attend the so called ‘Realschule , and the weak ones go to the ‘Hauptschule for five respectively six years. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But the majority of educationalists see the necessity of an early allocation as out dated. No other country in the world sorts out its pupils as early as Germany. The individual support of pupils is also possible in very heterogeneous learning groups. The highly talented pupils can be individually encouraged as well as the pupils who have big problems with learning. The only prerequisite for this individual support is the fact that not everybody must acquire the same knowledge at school, but each pupil must obtain a knowledge, which is tailor made for his or her personality and character. Everybody must have a good individual development of his or her capacities and learning skills. For this reason the training and further education of teachers must contain how to make distinctions between highly and less talented pupils in heterogeneous classes. The divided secondary education system in Germany has a concept, which is very controversial. Ignoring heterogeneity and distinction due to the fact that they are less comfortable and an attitude which says: ‘The right pupil for the right school, and if the lesson fails, it is because of the wrong pupil has bad consequences. Pupils who feel themselves as not being welcome at a place where the decision on their future is made, unreasonable demands on their performance and speed of learning before they can develop confidence in their abilities, end in a vicious circle of mutual expectations and ascriptions. • 30. The Goals For The Millennium Development Goals Essay 189 United Nations Member States agreed to achieve 8 goals for The UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) from 2000 to 2015 for fighting poverty, hunger, disease, illiteracy, environmental degradation, and discrimination against women in the word. In addition, tuberculosis (TB) was also the sixth goal of MDGs leading cause of death worldwide. The WHO estimated over 9.6 million people fall ill with TB in 2014: 5.4 million men, 3.2 million women and 1.0 million children. (WHO,2014) Tuberculosis (TB) was identified as a highly infectious disease, was transmitted primarily via inhalation and caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB). After inhalation, MTB came into lung before ending up in alveoli where macrophages recognized and destroyed tuberculosis bacteria. However, macrophage cannot kill all of MTB so the survivors infected and hijacked macrophage. Amount of MTB also increase continuously until bursting the macrophage leading to cause further infection and extracellular bacilli. Overtime, the mixture of blood and sputum in lungs tuberculosis was formed when the centers of granulomas necrotize was infected by MTB. (Niemi, 2014) Therefore, antimicrobial agents were used in the treatment of TB including TB treatment and antimicrobial activity such as isoniazid, pyrazinamide and ethambutol for initial regimens; and capreomycin, viomycin or cycloserine in recent years. There were some drugs were used for indication including rifamycins, aminoglycosides and fluoroquinolones. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Tokugawa s Contribution To The Collapse Of A Civilization When civilizations begin they have enough resources and food to last them a while, but as the population grows and the city becomes more advanced, problems start to occur. The amount of resources will start to die down and the citizens won t have enough to sustain themselves. There are many factors that contribute to the collapse of a society, but environmental issues such as deforestation, is one of the larger reasons for a civilization s downfall. Although civilizations such as Easter Island and Maya collapsed partly due to deforestation which was caused by their inability to control the supply of trees, Tokugawa was a civilization that endured through deforestation by creating new solutions and finding new resources to sustain their civilizations. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The growing population of the world demands shelter, food, and clothes. This need for the resources that trees supply is high enough that it seems acceptable for a large percent of forests to be destroyed, but this brings up the issue of whether there is enough resources to last forever or whether they will run out. If the world runs out of the needed supplies to sustain human life then the answer to the question, are we doomed, becomes extremely evident. Without trees, civilization will lack the resources needed to keep a healthy diet and a stable shelter. Not only that, but the amount of fresh oxygen, which we get from trees, will decrease. So as long as the world s resources are preserved for as long as the human race continues to live and thrive, then we should not be doomed, but as natural resources begin to disappear it becomes more and more possible that the world and everyone in it could be ... • 33. The Effect Of Concentration On The Rate Of Reaction By... The hypothesis of this experiment was that an increase in concentration will increase the rate of reaction by decreasing the time taken for the colour change to occur. Figure 1.1 shows time on the x axis and concentration on the y axis, it can be seen that as [reactant] decreases, time increases. Thus, the results correlate with the hypothesis that an increase in concentration will produce a faster reaction time and subsequently a larger reaction rate regardless of change in [KIO3] or [Na2S2O5], both reactants produce the same result. The second part of the hypothesis was that an increase in [B] and decrease in [A] will still increase the overall rate of reaction, however it will cause a slow spread of colour compared to a rapid colour change. This wasn t specifically recorded by timing, however, it was noted on the 9/5/16 that when lower concentrations of KIO3 were tested, there was a slow spread of colour. On the 13/5/16, when testing Na2S2O5, there was no vast change in colour spread time. Though, all the concentrations tested of Na2S2O5 were fairly similar. If, for example, 1M Na2s2O5 was tested against 0.1M KIO3, the reaction would definitely occur quickly, however, the spread of colour could be slow since a large quantity of I2 has been used up to cancel the significantly larger amount of HSO3 ions. For what has been observed, the second part of the hypothesis is plausible. Though, this is an area of investigation which needs to be further investigated to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Childhood Autism Spectrum Disorders Essay Childhood Autism Spectrum Disorders Autism has been on the rise in the past 20 years, and is getting dangerously close to reaching epidemic proportions (Zelan, 1). Statistically, Autism rates have been rising in the United States with Autism now effecting 1 in every 150 children ages 10 and younger (Zelan, 1). Autism can occur in any race and does not gender discriminate, though boys are four times more likely to have Autism than girls (Castrogiovanni). The causes, symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment of Autism are the main aspects that most interest researchers today. If studies continue to have good results, the quality of life for Autistics could improve exponentially. Autism is a developmental disorder that has baffled researchers for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is no current test to determine if anyone in the family has the autistic gene , but studies are still underway (Fredericks, 33). An excess of testosterone in utero may be a link to or cause of Autism. The child would, in theory, be too male . Babies with too much testosterone during development may have a higher risk of developing Autism (Fredericks, 38). At one point, Autism was thought to be caused by the live vaccines given in childhood, such as MMR. The idea was that the multiple, live vaccines triggered Autism in children who may have a genetic predisposition for it. The case was closed several years ago due to a lack of usable information (Fredericks, 39). Though there is no noted cause, Autism has several marking symptoms. An extreme lack of social skills is usually the biggest and most apparent marker of Autism. The lack of social skills can be as severe as no speech whatsoever, but can be as mild as awkwardness in social situation and failure to develop relationships (Autism, Communication). Babies with Autism do not seem to want human contact or interaction. They may cry when they are picked up, refuse cuddling, or they may not lift arms indicating wanting to be held (Fredericks, 16). Obsessing or being hyper focused on an object or subject can also be an obvious social marker of Autism. Sensory ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Introduction Legionnaire s disease is an important public health problem that can cause substantial morbidity and mortality.1 This bacterial infection is caused primarily by the gram negative bacteria, Legionella pneumophila, found in freshwater environments throughout the world. 2, 3 Legionnaires disease was initially described in 1976, after a major respiratory outbreak among attendees of an American Legion convention.4 L. pneumophila causes a severe inflammatory pneumonia that primarily affects susceptible patients as a result of advanced age, underlying debilitating conditions or immunosuppression.5 Environmental risk factors such as cooling towers or water systems in buildings, including hospitals have been reported as main sources ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 11Macrolides, doxycycline, and quinolones are the most commonly prescribed effective antibiotics, and preventive measures have been widely adopted in public and private institutions. 12 Public health efforts have largely focused on the identification of outbreaks of legionellosis, followed by investigation and source control. The recent outbreak in the city of New York has emphasized the need to recognize Legionnaires disease as a common community and hospital acquired pneumonia. Health care workers should have a high clinical suspicion of L. pneumophila in any patient with unexplained pneumonia and risk factors for Legionnaire s disease. Routine testing has been discouraged for all outpatients with community acquired pneumonia and further testing should be assessed on a case by case basis. This review summarizes the epidemiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis and management of Legionnaires disease. A better understanding of the risks associated with Legionnaires disease would allow state and local entities to better target preventive measures and improve clinician awareness. Epidemiology Almost 40 years ago, Legionella pneumophila was initially recognized as the cause of a major respiratory outbreak among attendees of an American Legion convention at a hotel in Philadelphia.4 Since the first description of Legionnaire s disease, surveillance schemes have been implemented in several countries including the United ... • 36. Liberalism And Realism In International Relations Many scholars have observed IR (International relations) through different theoretical lens throughout time, the two most debated on theoretical lens in international relation are liberalism and realism. Realism according to Korab Karpowicz is the view of international politics in which states are only concerned with there own self interest, security and struggle of power (Korab Karpowicz/2017). While on the other hand liberalism defined by John Ikenberry is the focus of society, interdependence and progressive change (Ikenberry 2009/pg.204 205).Although realism sees the world in a pessimistic view, it is the most powerful descriptor of IR. This essay will support the claim that realism has provided a more convincing description of IR through the analysis of power lust, self security and economic greed states have shown throughout time. However the essay will also entertain liberalist arguments through the view of interdependence and common interest. Whether it is the domination of one man over another or one state dominating another it has always been in human nature to seek power over others. Power lust is key in the understanding international relations. According to various realist scholars Of all people s evil ways, none are more prevalent or dangerous than their instinctive lust for power and their desire to dominate others (Kegley 2017/ pg.28). The Nazis lust for power over Europe in the 19th century is a key example of natural lust for power that has been ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Types Of Simulation Software, And Investigating Software... There are many types of simulation software, and investigating software component metadata for all of them is infeasible. The scope of this research is restricted to one important class of simulation software, the area of semi automated forces (SAF) systems. As Petty describes in [14], semi automated forces (SAF) systems are computer software systems to generate and control autonomous entities (such as tanks, soldiers, or aircraft) in a simulation using a combination of behavior generation algorithms and human operator commands. The SAF entities exist in a battlefield that is a simulated subset of the real world, so the physical events and phenomena on the battlefield must be modeled. SAF controlled entities should obey the laws of physics. The accuracy of the SAF physics models is important to the utility of the simulation. Exactly how accurate those models must be, depends on how the system will be used. It is not uncommon when the real time performance of the simulation is more important than high accuracy, to have high fidelity models replaced with lower fidelity models based on look up tables. Figure 1.1 A screenshot from ModSAF, a SAF system. An important example of semi automated forces is One Semi Automated Forces (OneSAF). In [15] Parsons states that OneSAF is the U. S. Army s newest constructive battlefield simulation and SAF system. OneSAF is intended to replace a number of legacy entity based simulations and to serve a range of applications including ...
