Whale Rider Character Analysis
Throughout Whale Rider Paikea is expected to listen to what her grandpa tells her to do and say.
Personally, Paikea feels conflicted and under pressure to stick to her grandpas rules, as she wants to go
her own way. Her grandpa finds it hard to see Paikea as her own person and can t accept modernity,
which he is not used to. He also stops her from learning the ways of a Maori chief, which is something
she still tries to do in secret with the help of the rest of her family. Koro sometimes fails to see what
Paikea can do, as he feels very strongly about old traditions, but other times he sees what she can do
and fails to appreciate it. Paikea just wants to be loved and accepted by her grandfather and her strong
sense of leadership and determination to get that from him leaves her as a role model to others to be
brave and to never stop until they get what they want.
Koro feels the need to stick to old traditions and rules but is not willing to try new things and to
change. Change is something that is new for Koro, as he has been so used to doing the same thing all
his life, but Paikea and what she does challenges Koro to get outside his comfort zone. Koro has been
used to and believes in a traditional and patriarchal society with everyone in their particular place.
This is why when Paikea starts to show the true qualities of a chief, and in his words Doesn t obtain to
her role, he is blinded and ignores them as he is so focused on what he is used to. While Paikea is
asking Koro about her ancestors, Koro says Each one of those threads, is one of your ancestors, all
joined together and strong. But then the rope breaks, which symbolises either a wave of change
coming through or old traditions being broken and new ones being started, either way, Paikea will be
the one to put the rope back together again, as in that scene she fixes the rope to get the engine started.
Paikea is trying to learn the ways of a leader and a chief but Koro keeps shutting her off and getting
mad whenever she does. He would always say, She is no good to me. Even when Paikea is learning to
spar with the fighting sticks, Koro immediately yells at her and scolds her. All of these put downs and
constant public humiliations by her

Romance de La Pena Negra Essay
A commentary of Romance de la pena negra, Federico García Lorca Lorca described Romance de la
pena negra as one of the most representative poems from the Romancero gitano . The poem was
written in 1924, when Lorca had been sent away from Granada, due to his homosexuality and was
living in Madrid, the centre of the cultural ferment of the 1920 s. Here, he attended the Institución
Libre de Enseñanza (ILE), where he was inspired to search for the national Spanish spirit, through
literature. Romance de la pena negra, follows the typical writing structure of the romance style. This
includes otto syllabic rhyme, direct speech from unidentified people, consonants, vocalic echo and
rhyme in even lines in assonance, (in this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This alludes to the idea of maternity. The next image as a whole implies the bouncing circular
movement of Soledad s breasts, as she comes down the mountain. Lorca uses synesthesia, employing
the word redondas (8) to describe canciones (8) rather than Soledad s breasts. The word giran also
relates back to Soledad s pain, as if her breasts are crying out as they move around. The tone then
changes in the next stanza. An unknown voice (typical of the romance ) speaks to Soledad and says:
Soledad, Por quien preguntas sin compaña y a estas horas? (9/10) This voice is a voice of compassion.
However what is said reveals a lot about the speaker. The fact that the speaker refers to her as Soledad
implies that there is a sort of familiarity between them, as does the word preguntas instead of the
polite version, pregunta . The speaker also chooses the word compaña rather than compañía a gypsy
like manor, implying that this character is from the same background as Soledad Montoya a typical
gypsy name. Soledad s response is very aggressive and is loaded with a sense of pride, as she is trying
to hide her shame at having waited for so long throughout the night. She says pregunte por quien
pregunte, Dime, ¿a ti que se te importa? (11/12) She also uses tu to address the speaker, reinforcing
the idea that they are linked somehow. The next words that Soledad speaks are arguably

Investigation Of Lucy Essay
Background
Expedition began in 1972 with scientists Maurice Taieb, Yves Coppens, Jon Kalb, and Donald
Johanson. (Johanson, 2004)
This was known as IARE or International Afar Research Expedition. (Johanson, 2004)
Discovery of Lucy in 1974. (Johanson, 2004)
Analysis of location
The expedition took place in Ethiopia s Afar Triangle which was also known as Hadar. (Johanson,
2004)
This was the best location to find fossils because it was 200 meters of strata. (Johanson, 2004)
Strata is an area in the ground where different layers of rock exists. (Johanson, 2004)
The lacustrine and fluviatile sediments allowed for a fossil rich area. (Johanson, 2004)
This allowed for complete or semi complete skeletons to preserved and later found. (Johanson, 2004)

Proteomics Essay
4.2 Combination of proteomics and interactomics
The study of PPI is fundamental to define the molecular networks that contribute to homeostasis of
living organisms. Disruptions in protein interaction networks have been shown to cause diseases in
both human and animals. For instance, PPI disturbances have been shown to be involved in cancer
caused by p53 mutations [47], neurodegenerative diseases resulting from protein aggregates
accumulation [48], and virus host interactions [49]. Therefore, the monitoring and study of PPIs can
provide innovative options for identifying diagnostic and therapeutic targets that have potential for
broader clinical applicability. Technological advances in genomics and proteomics have spawned a
large number of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Shorter routes to the clinic are also possible because in vitro and in vivo screening, chemical
optimization, toxicology, bulk manufacturing, formulation development and even early clinical
development may have already been completed and can therefore be bypassed. Collectively, these
factors enable several years, and substantial risks and costs, to be removed from the pathway to the
market [51].
By submitting the hub bottleneck proteins identified through network analysis, we identified potential
drug repositioning candidates. Phosphoaminophosphonic acid adenylate ester [52], is a small
molecule, classified as a purine ribonucleotide that targets HSP90AA1. It is currently experimental
and has not been evaluated in clinical trials, but is predicted to cross the blood brain barrier. It may be
a promising candidate for treating MPS VII for its anti oxidant effects. Quercetin, a small molecule
antioxidant targeting ATP5A1, and a naturally occurring molecule, is also a promising candidate for
antioxidant therapy. It is being evaluated in several clinical trials, including trials evaluating its use for
cancer prevention, cancer treatment, and treatment of polyneuropathies. Rifabutin, which has been
shown to also be able to inhibit activation of inflammatory cells and has demonstrated ability to target
HSP90AA1, emerges as another potential drug candidate. Rifabutin is FDA approved as an

American Sniper Character Analysis
A good movie about a person s life, especially one that involves real life wars has to be convincing.
That means the actor must be compelling of who the character actually is, in addition to the scenes
being true to the actual event, place and time. I also believe the plot of the story is essential as a true
drama is one classified as the hero dying or making you feel sad. American Sniper , a drama and true
story about a legendary sniper and navy seal, Kris Kyle accomplishes the heartfelt experience of
family, death, commitment and the life of a true soldier. With his record of confirmed kills, he earned
the nickname The Legend by his team, on the other hand, the enemy wanted him dead. Directed by

I really liked this as it made you realize what being directly in the war zone is like for a soldier. When
he has to make the decision to shoot a woman and a child to save American lives. The woman was his
first confirmed kill (Turan). He has flashbacks, which immediately got my attention and wanted to see
more. Differing from other war movies, like The Hurt Locker , the war veteran is as reckless solider.
Whereas, Cooper does a better job at making Kyle seem like a more welcoming character. There is no
question what his intentions are throughout the entire movie. While he struggles with home and
deployment, he gives an excellent performance on what it is really like to face decisions where there is
a sacrifice either way. His character really shines through and make anyone think about what goes
through a person s mind and what they have been through. For me, when he was in the tire shop and
the young man approached and recognized him, thanking him for saving his life, his voice, tone and
demeanor shifted...stuttering, his voice dropped and at a loss for words, coming across discourteous.
What I didn t like was the character Taya Kyle, played by Sienna Miller. I can t imagine the wife
would be unsupportive. Didn t really believe her

To What Extent Is the Conservative Party Still Committed...
TO WHAT EXTENT IS THE CONSERVATIVE PARTY STILL COMMITTED TO ITS
TRADITIONAL PRINCIPLES?
Since 1979 the conservative party has undergone significant changes from the traditional conservative
party which focused on ideas about human nature, order and pragmatism, first with new right
conservatism under Thatcher then with the current conservative party. The current conservative party
however, can be seen to still be committed to its traditional conservative principles such as Euro
scepticism and that they remain largely traditionalist. However there are many ways in which the
conservative party has changed such as taxation, education and the welfare state.
One way the conservative party has changed is through taxation. Traditionally, the ... Show more

Another way the party has deviated from traditional conservative principles is through education. In
contrast with the traditional elitist view on education by the conservatives, under Cameron there has
been a strong emphasis on the idea that everybody should be able to go to university if their ability
allows them too, supporting labours policies on scholarships to students from disadvantaged
backgrounds and also attempting to establish more apprenticeship jobs and work experience jobs to
encourage young people who perhaps wouldn t go to university to learn skills that would provide a
better future for them. However, the fact remains that the vast majority of Cameron s conservatives
graduated from private schools which does make the overview of the party seem very elitist but, its
policies and support for scholarship programmes seem to challenge this idea and show that perhaps
the conservative party has changed from that traditional view.
Another thing that shows that the conservative party has stuck to its traditional principles is the fact
that the party is still very traditionalist. The conservative party has always been very traditionalist in
its views and in many ways it still is today, little or no comment is made on social issues such as gay
adoption, the party

the growth of two kinds of word reading skills that are critical in the development of overall reading

of future reading performance and target critical component skills required to learn to read. This study

Attachment Style In Quinceanera
One of the passage is for Latinos the females is to have a Quinceanera to celebrate her big day into
becoming in early adulthood. The Jews have for the males a Bar Mitzvah shows that the boy is now
coming into early adulthood and is ready to become a man. Pluralism is where different religions or
cultures come together in a society and accept different beliefs and cultures. Assimilation is where
different cultures influence one another and become mixed. This has an effect on the rite of passage on
some individuals because they may start to wonder about their culture by learning facts about other
cultures and may not want to be a part of. There are several different attachment styles. Secure is an
attachment style when an individual feels confident and has trust in their relationship. Avoidant is an
attachment style when an individual is unsure about getting into in a relationship. Anxious attachment
style is where individuals demand closeness and have trust issues. I think that secure is the most

The 1906 San Francisco Earthquake Of 1906
The 1906 San Francisco Earthquake
Geologic Aspect
On April 18, 1906 at 5:12 a.m. an earthquake of an estimated moment magnitude of 7.8 hit
Northern California. High intensity shaking was felt stretching from Salinas Valley to Eureka on the
North Coast. The San Francisco earthquake of 1906 was one of the worst and most fatal earthquakes
in both California s and the United States history.
California, and thus San Francisco, lies on the San Andres fault. The earthquake was caused when this
fault suddenly shifted, with the rupture spreading for a total of 476 kilometres in northward and
southward direction. This fault is a continental transform fault, which forms part of the tectonic
boundary between the North American Plate and the Pacific Plate. (1906 Earthquake: How long was
the 1906 Crack? USGS Earthquake Hazards Program Northern California, Accessed September 3,
2006). 1 The distance of the fault is of about 1300 kilometres, which runs the length of California
from Cape Mendocino in the north to the Salton Sea in the south. Geologists have estimated that the
fault moved as quickly as 2.74 kilometres per second. The San Andreas Fault, the source of this
disaster, lies ten miles or deeper, at the meeting point of two tectonic plates, the Pacific and the North
American. The right lateral strike slip fault is characterized by mainly lateral motion in a dextral sense,
where the western plate (Pacific plate) moves northward relative to the eastern plate (North American

Dicore Case Study
1. External Analysis
In order to understand the environment of the mining industry and evaluate Dicore s competitors and
customers, this chapter will adopt some tools, such as PESTEL and Porter s five forces, to analyze the
external environment of Dicore International.
2.1. PESTEL Analysis
The PESTEL framework is often used to analyze the broad macro environment of an organization
(Johnson et al, 2014). Thus, it is used in this chapter to identify how the trend of drilling industry can
be affected by the political, economical, social, technological, ecological and legal factors.
2.2.1. Political Factors

damage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, drilling sites are always located in inaccessible areas that cannot provide a comfortable
working condition. Therefore, it could contribute to a lower level of operational productivity.
2.2.4. Technological Factors
The overall mining industry profits declining in 2013 came along with the declining of investment,
which may lead to a lack of funds in research and development in the mining industry, and slow down
the innovation process of drilling equipment to achieve faster and more accurate drilling. Besides,
better equipment can also address the issue raised by the bonus pay which often results in damaging
equipment or mineral.
2.2.5. Ecological Factors
The environmental regulations could impose the operating expenses of drilling, particularly in the
southwestern region. To be more specific, the drilling company has to take full responsibility to
reverse any damage that it may cause to the environment.
2.2.6. Legal Factors
More than one licence is required for a company to offer a full range of drilling services in
southwestern region. This may be a slow and complex process and may influence the company s
performance to some extent. Yet it is still much more stable than the rest of the factors that might
change the macro environment.
2.2. Porter s Five Forces Analysis
The Five Forces Framework will be adopted in this chapter to identify the attractiveness of the drilling

Introduction of Indirect Taxing on Energy Drinks in France
This article discusses how France introduced an indirect tax on energy drinks at €1 per liter. The tax
was imposed to tackle alcohol consumption among France s young population and energy drinks
consumption due to its high levels of caffeine and sugar.
A form of government intervention, an indirect tax, a tax placed on consumption that is considered
indirect since households only pay then when they buy a good, affects the energy drinks market
outcomes.
Pertaining to the diagram above, previous to government intervention, the energy drinks market was
allocated purely by the forces of demand and supply1 with market equilibrium at PE (original price)
and QE (original quantity). After a tax of €1 per liter was imposed, the equilibrium quantity of energy
drinks produced and consumed decreased to Qtax, as the supply curve shifted upwards to Stax .
Furthermore, the price paid by consumers increased to Pc from PE and price received by the energy
drinks companies decreased to Pp from PE. In addition, consumer expenditure on energy drinks
decreased as well. Due to indirect tax, this changed from (d+e+f+g+h) to (b+d+f+g) since consumers
are purchasing less of the good as the price increased. The company s revenue also decreased
significantly from (d+e+f+g+h) to (f+g), as the quantity of output decreased. However, the
government received tax revenue of (b+d), increasing its budget. Indirect tax on energy drinks
ultimately results in underallocation of resources. Too little of

Temperate and tropical currents converge in the Ningaloo region resulting in highly diverse marine
life including spectacular coral reefs, abundant fishes and species with special conservation

Causes And Treatment Of Sepsis
REVIEW OF LITRATURE
The term sepsis has been around since prehistoric times. Hippocrates presented the word sepsis 2400
years ago to represent a condition where an overwhelming infection leads to tissue breakdown with
rotting, foul odour, and disease. The ancient Roman scholar and writer (116 BC 27 BC), Marcus
Terentius Varro mentioned that small creatures, invisible to the eye, fill the atmosphere, and breathed
through the nose cause dangerous diseases.
In the early 1990s at a conference convened by the American College of Chest Physicians and the
Society of Critical Care Medicine modern definitions of sepsis were termed in detail. At that time,
sepsis was described as a systemic response to a physiologic insult including infections and other
etiologies that lead to the development of further organ injury, ultimately culminating in multiple
organ dysfunction syndromes.
The word bacteraemia is used when bacteria are isolated from the blood whether clinical symptoms
are present or not while the words sepsis or septicaemia is used for the isolation of bacteria in blood in
combination with clinical symptoms and signs of infections.
Neonatal sepsis, also named Sepsis neonatorum , represents to a group of physical and laboratory
findings that occur in response to invasive infection within the first 30 days (neonatal) of life. Criteria
for neonatal sepsis should include documentation of infection in a newborn infant (0 28days) with a

Some of the characteristics of graduate writing are the level of detail that is added to the writing, the
length of writing, and the proper use of citation and references. Graduate level writing adds more
detail to any study. Undergraduate students may write about a point with two or three topics but a
graduate student will take those two or three topics and break them down into subtopics.
Undergraduate students typically are typically advised to write a paper that consist of five hundred
words or so but a graduate student will have to write a twelve hundred to fifteen hundred word essay
on a consistent basis to ensure proper knowledge of the tasks and subjects being taught.. The use of
proper citation and references is critical for the graduate student. The use of direct quote under 40
words such as (APA, 2010, p. 5) Direct quotations must mirror the original source word for word,
even if errors are contained in the original text must be used properly. Some papers may require you to

Sequence And Sequence Of Proteins
Sequence Information of Proteins
Just as members in the same family often resemble each other, similarly structured molecules are often
grouped in the same category. There are several methods of comparing amino acid sequencing and
determining how closely they are related. A simple example is the sequence comparison method.
Sequence databases are searched for a specific amino acid sequence of unknown characteristics. A set
of molecules that are similar in structure can give insight into the properties of the unknown sequence
of amino acids.
To determine the similarity between 2 amino acid sequences, one can apply sequence alignment. This
method aligns the 2 sequences and slides them past each other one amino acid at a time and calculates
what position has the greatest amount of matched residues. However, there is a drawback to this
method in that it does not show all of the possible alignments. To counteract this, one can induce a gap
in one of the sequences to increase the total possibilities of matches. The gap will compensate for the
insertions of deletions of sequences in a gene that is absent in the second sequence.
However, simply comparing the identities of amino acids cannot account for everything. To increase
the accuracy in the comparing two sequences there are 2 kinds of substitutions that can be made to
further progress the determination of amino acids. The first is a conservative substitution which
substitutes one amino acid with another amino acid that is

Explain How The Law Enforcement Powers And...
Through the Law Enforcement Powers and Responsibilities Act 2002 (NSW) (LEPRA), police have
certain powers to help them do their jobs and enforce the law. But these powers that police have been
granted also have limits to help protect the rights of the victim, the suspect and the society particularly
when these powers affect the civil liberties of members in the community whom the police serve as
stated by the former Attorney General Robert Debus.
According to LEPRA, the main powers police are granted are to detain and question suspects, search
property and seize evidence, use technologies that may help the case (i.e mobile phones, computers),
use reasonable force is absolutely necessary and, as a last resort, arrest and interrogate the suspect(s).
They also have the power to recommend to the magistrate whether bail should be granted to suspects.

My Opinion On The I m Malala
Since the first time that I looked through the syllabus I knew that I had two books in my mind that I
wanted to read: I m Malala and Trafficked. However, I already knew Malala, not her entire story or the
obstacles she had to overcome, but I knew how brave she was. My decision to pick I m Malala was
based on my curiosity to understand Malala s story and my admiration for her. I wanted to understand
how, when, and why she was shot for fighting for something that in my reality seems to be a right of
any human being: access to education. Also, how a young girl can have this mentality and courage to
fight against an entire culture and system. Now that I finished the book, I understand Malala and I
truly believe she is a special human being. I respect not only her but her family who so bravely was
able to teach her values and give her pieces of advice which did not correspond to the same values that
Pakistan s culture wants that, especially a woman, to have. In this analysis, I will be using the
following terms: empathy, perception, categorization, macroculture, microculture, muted group,
power, human rights, ethnocentrism, and discrimination. Malala was born in Pakistan a country that
even before its creation was ruled by the British. When the British started to introduce reforms that did
not please the Hindus, mostly because of religion divergences, Pakistan was created as a Muslim
territory. According to Angel Fire , History of Pakistan, about 8 million Muslims

Rhetorical Analysis Of Antonin Scalia s America
Antonin Scalia s America Appearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee on October 5, 2011, the
late Associate Justice of the Supreme Court Antonin Scalia expressed his conception of American
exceptionalism. Based on the perspective of an originalist, Scalia believes that judges should strictly
adhere to the Constitution. He utilizes a chauvinistic tone in order to effectively characterize the
United States as an exceptional country built upon a gridlock of laws through the separation of
powers. Scalia s influential speech compels opposing judges to adopt his conservative ideals. During
his opening statement, Scalia employs rhetorical questions in order to elucidate that Americans lack of
knowledge of the government forces judges to firmly abide by the United States unparalleled
Constitution. He postulates, How many of you have read the Federalist Papers? The reality that never
more than about 5% of his audience, who are interested in the law, has delved deep into the document
portrays them as ignorant. With this concern, Scalia expounds upon his originalist ideals and
encourages rivaling judges to alter their opinions of a flexible Constitution. Scalia credits his argument
through the Framers who illustrated the significance of the Constitution in the Federalist Papers. Due
to the fact that Americans are incapable of thoroughly interpreting the government, he attests that
judges must abide by the precise words of the Constitution. Scalia advises his audience to

Learning Sign Language Research Paper
According to research conducted by the World Federation of the Deaf, only two percent of the world s
population has access to education in sign language. Many parents of Deaf or hard of hearing children
struggle with the decision of choosing the right approach to language for their child. Unfortunately,
many of these parents choose to deny their children an accessible language, and instead force them to
learn a spoken language first. The Nyle DiMarco Foundation and the National Association of the Deaf
have partnered with many others to prove to the world that teaching Deaf and hard of hearing children
and infants ASL is vitally important to their development. Prohibiting a Deaf or hard of hearing child
from learning the language that is most accessible to them seriously hinders both their social and
academic development. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Ballet dance, which also incorporates movements of contemporary and South American folk

Ghost Dancers fuses many styles of dance including the primary style of ballet, contemporary and
traditional Chilean folk dance. Ballet is the base of the dance as Bruce is primarily a Ballet
choreographer. Contemporary is evident as flexed feet and bent arms and legs are seen throughout the
performance. And Chilean folk dance can be seen in many sections of the dance with the civilians, as
there are many quick movements of the feet and, as shown in the fourth section with the women, they
do a movement throughout their section, which consists of change of direction with their arms out.
The costumes that the dancers wear are also significant. The costume that the ghost dancers wear is
based on the Native American legend of the Ghost Dance or Natdia. This spiritual dance was
performed during the late 1880 s, when things were bad and the Native Americans needed something
to give them hope. The dance reached its high point just before the Wounded Knee Massacre of 1890,
where US soldiers opened fire and killed over 200 hundred Native Americans. They believed that
performing the ghost dance would later reunite them with their ancestors along the line. The civilians
costumes represented that of everyday people. They all had different clothes on and of the three
different classes of people, lower, middle and upper class. This gives a representation that during the
coup that no specific class was targeted and that anyone could be a

First They Killed My Father By Loung Ung
There is a thin line between living and surviving. In the memoir, First They Killed My Father by
Loung Ung, it is evident that one s ability to live a comfortable life is often times thwarted by factors
that force many to try and survive. Cambodian born American human rights activist, Loung Ung, is a
survivor of the Cambodian genocide that took place from 1975 to 1979. While under the influence of
Cambodia s new communist government, the Khmer Rouge, around 1.5 million men, women, and
children died from exhaustion, starvation, and disease. As the daughter of an old democratic
government official, Ung and her family were forced to abandon their old life in hopes for survival. A
reoccurring theme within Ung s memoir is that suffering, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To prevent the possible negative effects of Keav s death on his family, Ung s father used their grief to
encourage their chances towards survival. This is shown later in chapter eleven when Ung s father
says, We all have to forget her death and continue...We don t want the chief to think that we can no
longer contribute to their society. We have to save our strength to go on. Keav would want us to go on;
it is the only way we will survive (Ung, Pg. 100). Ung s father used their mutual loss to promote their
survival. Although it is not blatantly expressed, Ung s father had to comprehend his own suffering in
order to seek out strategies that would be beneficial to their survival as a family. Yet, even with his
own suffering Ung s father found it within himself to encourage his family because he knew that
without his encouragement they each would not have been able to survive that situation. Not only did
Ung s father help them to recover after Keav s death, but he also helped them to each develop the
emotional strength they would need for future reference. After the death of her close friend, Pithy, Ung
wrote, In a panic I get up and run after Kim and Chou out of the shelter, away from Pithy. Away from
her screaming mother. Away from the sorrow that threatens to take residence in my heart (Ung, Pg.

John Keats Research Paper
French novelist Marcel Proust once noted, Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are
the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. This statement, which fully exemplifies
friendship, embodies John Keats persona. It is recognized that Keats was a master of friend maker,
which puzzled those close to him. Throughout his life, he made friends who not only helped him
through struggles, but also influenced his poetry, especially his greatest works. According to Ronald
Sharp, Anyone reading Keats s letters with an eye to his view of friendship cannot but be struck by the

states, . . . that it should be a friend/To sooth the cares and lift the thought of man (2.45 47)/And they

that friends are people who you can talk to and will always be there, which is embodied in this poem.
Besides Sleep and Poetry, there are many other poems that have incorporations of friendship, such as
in Ode on a Grecian Urn, in which he refers to the urn as a friend to man. Many of his poems that

advance. They would start their day working together and late in the afternoon Keats would read his
poems to Bailey, after which they would discuss while on long walks (Hanson). Hanson wrote that,

Christian Tradition and Non-Christian Tradition are Two...
Many have heard of Faust in one way or another. A Faustian Bargain is one where an agent trades
away the future for a boon in power during the present. I will be exploring at least two magical
traditions in Marlowe s Faust: the Christian tradition and the non Christian tradition.
Not many stories captivate readers like Marlowe s Faust can captivate. It s the classic story of a man
who risks hellfire by dealing with the devil for a brief, yet magnificent, period of otherworldly
knowledge and power. This story has been rewritten and reformulated time and time again. I aim to
show that the story of Faust is inspired by the story of Adam and Eve.
What accounts for this story s persistence? I think it is because readers are gripped by the fantasy of
humans possessing divine powers, engaging in adventures and magical exploits, and trafficking with
the greatest of evils.
Many view the Faust tradition from the perspective of magus literature. Their searches for Faust s
beginnings often turn up magicians. The historical Johann Faustus, a sixteenth century charlatan who
wandered across Germany, who exercised a minimum of pharmaceutical knowledge...with a
maximum amount of malice, was himself a magician.
E. M. Butler, in The Myth of the Magus, links Faust with a broad number of magicians extending back
to Moses and others. Other scholars, seeing the Faust legend as a Christian story, seek Faust s roots in
a more limited way. Here the consensus identifies Simon Magus as the

Washington and Jefferson are more talked about. They helped form this nation into a sovereign and
free country. Both were great men who did so much to shape and protect this country and it is
impossible to say that one did a better job than the other. Washington and Jefferson did what was best

they were from two different class levels of living. Jefferson grew up in more famous and richer
family which gave him many opportunities in education. He went to college where he was introduced

Different Approaches According to Allan amp; Rosenberg (1981), the system should be based on
behavior results; not ambiguous employee characteristics. The appraisals should be reviewed by
higher level managers or human resource manager; there should be a formal appeal mechanism or
system providing an avenue of appeal to employees who are dissatisfied with their evaluations; and
performing counseling, guidance and or training should be provided to help poor performers improve
their performance. Supervisors need to know his or her workers, so that he or she has opportunities to

The Coastal And Marine Conservation And Management Approaches
1. Introduction The Coastal and marine conservation and management approaches are focused on a
restricted area of significant human usage for practises such as; recreational and commercial fishing
and leisure, and highly active biologically. The coastal marine ecosystem has been suffering a general
tendency of population growth and, nowadays, has been also linked with industrial increase (Pietersen
Beekman 2006). However its benefits might be essential to stakeholders, as a consequence of this
constant disproportional growth, the threats are becoming more visual, which also increases the
awareness. That, added to the recognition of the coastal environment, existing and emerging threats
and important economic value, implies that a feasible management approach is necessary. The
difficulties met in planning and management starts at the very first step; identifying and prioritizing
the problems (Scherer et al. 2014). Thus, the most feasible and effective approach encountered will be
discussed posteriorly to the main threats; such as overfishing, pollution and climate change, in which
incorporates ocean temperature rise, sea level rises and ocean acidification (Stelzenmüller Martìn
2009). 2. Threats It is important to highlight that most coastal environments, due mainly to
anthropogenic events, are constantly exposed to the majority of these problems, not individually. The
synergistic effects of human disturbance expand considerably the responses. In other words, stresses

The Pros And Cons Of Poverty Trap
What drives poverty? First, how does one country consider itself living in extremely poor conditions?
This can be answered by using tools like PPP or GDP per capita to distinguish between poor and rich
countries. However, the purpose of this paper is not to discuss which country has the highest GDP, but
rather to discuss the ability the poor obtain to boost their way out of poverty. Are there certain
limitations that poor people face that refrain them from growing or is it just that the poor will always
be poor? This paper will summarize main arguments of mechanisms that give rise to poverty traps
from the article, Do Poverty Traps Exist. Based on these summaries, I will conduct further critical
reviews on some and provide evidence to back my opinion on the specific mechanism at hand.
To begin, one of the arguments first presented in the article give light to saving based poverty traps. If
one does not have enough money to save, they cannot achieve sufficient capital so in turn, their
incomes become stagnant. However, the study in the article argues that the saving rates do increase
from low levels of development. So in some cases, this poverty trap does not exist.
Secondly, the article also argues that a big push to the manufacturing sector can result in high returns
and high income levels in both the modern sector and traditional sector. While, only investing in the
traditional sector, which consists of agriculture, will only provide equalized wages at a low level

A Paradigm For Multiple Input Multiple Output ( Mimo )...
Abstract A paradigm for multiple input multiple output (MIMO) channel modeling demands diversity
technique to compensate the effects of fading and shadowing. In this paper, error performance of
MIMO system is analyzed with orthogonal space time block code (OSTBC) and maximal ratio
combining (MRC) techniques over Weibull gamma (WG) fading channel. WG distribution forms a
composite channel model which is used to determine the effects of multipath as well as shadowing.
Closed form expressions for symbol error rate (SER) are computed for MIMO systems using OSTBC
and MRC in this scenario. Consequently, the effects of fading severity by varying shape parameters
are also shown by simulation and analytical results. Keywords Multiple input multiple output
(MIMO), orthogonal space time block code (OSTBC), maximal ratio combining (MRC), Weibull
gamma (WG) fading, symbol error rate (SER). Introduction In the present wireless systems, the
demand of proliferation of bandwidth for high data rate and reliable communication requirement is
increasing. Multiple input multiple output (MIMO) systems are investigated to achieve these
requirements. Also, diversity techniques are recommended to increase the reliability of system.
Orthogonal space time block codes (OSTBCs) are employed in MIMO systems to achieve the full
transmit diversity while allowing a simple maximum likelihood decoding algorithm. This algorithm is
based on linear processing of received signals [1 2]. MIMO system uses

To pursue this goal, I am going to need to do research to find a find a house of my choice and on sale.
With the technology that there is today, finding a house won t be that hard, I just need to real estate
website and keep scrolling until I find I house that I like. To pursue this goal, I will need a good job to
be able to buy a house, not a lot of money will be needed since houses in Las Vegas are not that
expensive. If I lived in California, then I would need a lot of money because houses are double or
triple the cost of houses here. Most second class families live with other second class families in the

  • 2. Whale Rider Character Analysis Throughout Whale Rider Paikea is expected to listen to what her grandpa tells her to do and say. Personally, Paikea feels conflicted and under pressure to stick to her grandpas rules, as she wants to go her own way. Her grandpa finds it hard to see Paikea as her own person and can t accept modernity, which he is not used to. He also stops her from learning the ways of a Maori chief, which is something she still tries to do in secret with the help of the rest of her family. Koro sometimes fails to see what Paikea can do, as he feels very strongly about old traditions, but other times he sees what she can do and fails to appreciate it. Paikea just wants to be loved and accepted by her grandfather and her strong sense of leadership and determination to get that from him leaves her as a role model to others to be brave and to never stop until they get what they want. Koro feels the need to stick to old traditions and rules but is not willing to try new things and to change. Change is something that is new for Koro, as he has been so used to doing the same thing all his life, but Paikea and what she does challenges Koro to get outside his comfort zone. Koro has been used to and believes in a traditional and patriarchal society with everyone in their particular place. This is why when Paikea starts to show the true qualities of a chief, and in his words Doesn t obtain to her role, he is blinded and ignores them as he is so focused on what he is used to. While Paikea is asking Koro about her ancestors, Koro says Each one of those threads, is one of your ancestors, all joined together and strong. But then the rope breaks, which symbolises either a wave of change coming through or old traditions being broken and new ones being started, either way, Paikea will be the one to put the rope back together again, as in that scene she fixes the rope to get the engine started. Paikea is trying to learn the ways of a leader and a chief but Koro keeps shutting her off and getting mad whenever she does. He would always say, She is no good to me. Even when Paikea is learning to spar with the fighting sticks, Koro immediately yells at her and scolds her. All of these put downs and constant public humiliations by her ... • 3. Romance de La Pena Negra Essay A commentary of Romance de la pena negra, Federico García Lorca Lorca described Romance de la pena negra as one of the most representative poems from the Romancero gitano . The poem was written in 1924, when Lorca had been sent away from Granada, due to his homosexuality and was living in Madrid, the centre of the cultural ferment of the 1920 s. Here, he attended the Institución Libre de Enseñanza (ILE), where he was inspired to search for the national Spanish spirit, through literature. Romance de la pena negra, follows the typical writing structure of the romance style. This includes otto syllabic rhyme, direct speech from unidentified people, consonants, vocalic echo and rhyme in even lines in assonance, (in this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This alludes to the idea of maternity. The next image as a whole implies the bouncing circular movement of Soledad s breasts, as she comes down the mountain. Lorca uses synesthesia, employing the word redondas (8) to describe canciones (8) rather than Soledad s breasts. The word giran also relates back to Soledad s pain, as if her breasts are crying out as they move around. The tone then changes in the next stanza. An unknown voice (typical of the romance ) speaks to Soledad and says: Soledad, Por quien preguntas sin compaña y a estas horas? (9/10) This voice is a voice of compassion. However what is said reveals a lot about the speaker. The fact that the speaker refers to her as Soledad implies that there is a sort of familiarity between them, as does the word preguntas instead of the polite version, pregunta . The speaker also chooses the word compaña rather than compañía a gypsy like manor, implying that this character is from the same background as Soledad Montoya a typical gypsy name. Soledad s response is very aggressive and is loaded with a sense of pride, as she is trying to hide her shame at having waited for so long throughout the night. She says pregunte por quien pregunte, Dime, ¿a ti que se te importa? (11/12) She also uses tu to address the speaker, reinforcing the idea that they are linked somehow. The next words that Soledad speaks are arguably ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Proteomics Essay 4.2 Combination of proteomics and interactomics The study of PPI is fundamental to define the molecular networks that contribute to homeostasis of living organisms. Disruptions in protein interaction networks have been shown to cause diseases in both human and animals. For instance, PPI disturbances have been shown to be involved in cancer caused by p53 mutations [47], neurodegenerative diseases resulting from protein aggregates accumulation [48], and virus host interactions [49]. Therefore, the monitoring and study of PPIs can provide innovative options for identifying diagnostic and therapeutic targets that have potential for broader clinical applicability. By submitting the hub bottleneck proteins identified through network analysis, we identified potential drug repositioning candidates. Phosphoaminophosphonic acid adenylate ester [52], is a small molecule, classified as a purine ribonucleotide that targets HSP90AA1. It is currently experimental and has not been evaluated in clinical trials, but is predicted to cross the blood brain barrier. It may be a promising candidate for treating MPS VII for its anti oxidant effects. Quercetin, a small molecule antioxidant targeting ATP5A1, and a naturally occurring molecule, is also a promising candidate for antioxidant therapy. It is being evaluated in several clinical trials, including trials evaluating its use for cancer prevention, cancer treatment, and treatment of polyneuropathies. • 7. American Sniper Character Analysis A good movie about a person s life, especially one that involves real life wars has to be convincing. That means the actor must be compelling of who the character actually is, in addition to the scenes being true to the actual event, place and time. I also believe the plot of the story is essential as a true drama is one classified as the hero dying or making you feel sad. American Sniper , a drama and true story about a legendary sniper and navy seal, Kris Kyle accomplishes the heartfelt experience of family, death, commitment and the life of a true soldier. With his record of confirmed kills, he earned the nickname The Legend by his team, on the other hand, the enemy wanted him dead. Directed by Clint Eastwood, the actors, the set, themes, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I really liked this as it made you realize what being directly in the war zone is like for a soldier. When he has to make the decision to shoot a woman and a child to save American lives. The woman was his first confirmed kill (Turan). He has flashbacks, which immediately got my attention and wanted to see more. Differing from other war movies, like The Hurt Locker , the war veteran is as reckless solider. Whereas, Cooper does a better job at making Kyle seem like a more welcoming character. There is no question what his intentions are throughout the entire movie. While he struggles with home and deployment, he gives an excellent performance on what it is really like to face decisions where there is a sacrifice either way. His character really shines through and make anyone think about what goes through a person s mind and what they have been through. For me, when he was in the tire shop and the young man approached and recognized him, thanking him for saving his life, his voice, tone and demeanor shifted...stuttering, his voice dropped and at a loss for words, coming across discourteous. Since 1979 the conservative party has undergone significant changes from the traditional conservative party which focused on ideas about human nature, order and pragmatism, first with new right conservatism under Thatcher then with the current conservative party. The current conservative party however, can be seen to still be committed to its traditional conservative principles such as Euro scepticism and that they remain largely traditionalist. However there are many ways in which the conservative party has changed such as taxation, education and the welfare state. One way the conservative party has changed is through taxation. Traditionally, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another way the party has deviated from traditional conservative principles is through education. In contrast with the traditional elitist view on education by the conservatives, under Cameron there has been a strong emphasis on the idea that everybody should be able to go to university if their ability allows them too, supporting labours policies on scholarships to students from disadvantaged backgrounds and also attempting to establish more apprenticeship jobs and work experience jobs to encourage young people who perhaps wouldn t go to university to learn skills that would provide a better future for them. However, the fact remains that the vast majority of Cameron s conservatives graduated from private schools which does make the overview of the party seem very elitist but, its policies and support for scholarship programmes seem to challenge this idea and show that perhaps the conservative party has changed from that traditional view. Another thing that shows that the conservative party has stuck to its traditional principles is the fact that the party is still very traditionalist. The conservative party has always been very traditionalist in its views and in many ways it still is today, little or no comment is made on social issues such as gay adoption, the party ... The Jews have for the males a Bar Mitzvah shows that the boy is now coming into early adulthood and is ready to become a man. Pluralism is where different religions or cultures come together in a society and accept different beliefs and cultures. This has an effect on the rite of passage on some individuals because they may start to wonder about their culture by learning facts about other cultures and may not want to be a part of. The 1906 San Francisco Earthquake Of 1906 The 1906 San Francisco Earthquake Geologic Aspect On April 18, 1906 at 5:12 a.m. an earthquake of an estimated moment magnitude of 7.8 hit Northern California. High intensity shaking was felt stretching from Salinas Valley to Eureka on the North Coast. The San Francisco earthquake of 1906 was one of the worst and most fatal earthquakes in both California s and the United States history. California, and thus San Francisco, lies on the San Andres fault. The earthquake was caused when this fault suddenly shifted, with the rupture spreading for a total of 476 kilometres in northward and southward direction. This fault is a continental transform fault, which forms part of the tectonic boundary between the North American Plate and the Pacific Plate. (1906 Earthquake: How long was the 1906 Crack? USGS Earthquake Hazards Program Northern California, Accessed September 3, 2006). 1 The distance of the fault is of about 1300 kilometres, which runs the length of California from Cape Mendocino in the north to the Salton Sea in the south. Geologists have estimated that the fault moved as quickly as 2.74 kilometres per second. The San Andreas Fault, the source of this disaster, lies ten miles or deeper, at the meeting point of two tectonic plates, the Pacific and the North American. Technological Factors The overall mining industry profits declining in 2013 came along with the declining of investment, which may lead to a lack of funds in research and development in the mining industry, and slow down the innovation process of drilling equipment to achieve faster and more accurate drilling. Besides, better equipment can also address the issue raised by the bonus pay which often results in damaging equipment or mineral. 2.2.5. Ecological Factors The environmental regulations could impose the operating expenses of drilling, particularly in the southwestern region. To be more specific, the drilling company has to take full responsibility to reverse any damage that it may cause to the environment. 2.2.6. Legal Factors More than one licence is required for a company to offer a full range of drilling services in southwestern region. This may be a slow and complex process and may influence the company s performance to some extent. Yet it is still much more stable than the rest of the factors that might change the macro environment.

  • 15. Introduction of Indirect Taxing on Energy Drinks in France This article discusses how France introduced an indirect tax on energy drinks at €1 per liter. The tax was imposed to tackle alcohol consumption among France s young population and energy drinks consumption due to its high levels of caffeine and sugar. A form of government intervention, an indirect tax, a tax placed on consumption that is considered indirect since households only pay then when they buy a good, affects the energy drinks market outcomes. Pertaining to the diagram above, previous to government intervention, the energy drinks market was allocated purely by the forces of demand and supply1 with market equilibrium at PE (original price) and QE (original quantity). After a tax of €1 per liter was imposed, the equilibrium quantity of energy drinks produced and consumed decreased to Qtax, as the supply curve shifted upwards to Stax . Furthermore, the price paid by consumers increased to Pc from PE and price received by the energy drinks companies decreased to Pp from PE. In addition, consumer expenditure on energy drinks decreased as well. Due to indirect tax, this changed from (d+e+f+g+h) to (b+d+f+g) since consumers are purchasing less of the good as the price increased. The company s revenue also decreased significantly from (d+e+f+g+h) to (f+g), as the quantity of output decreased. However, the government received tax revenue of (b+d), increasing its budget. Indirect tax on energy drinks ultimately results in underallocation of resources. Too little of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 18. Causes And Treatment Of Sepsis REVIEW OF LITRATURE The term sepsis has been around since prehistoric times. Hippocrates presented the word sepsis 2400 years ago to represent a condition where an overwhelming infection leads to tissue breakdown with rotting, foul odour, and disease. The ancient Roman scholar and writer (116 BC 27 BC), Marcus Terentius Varro mentioned that small creatures, invisible to the eye, fill the atmosphere, and breathed through the nose cause dangerous diseases. In the early 1990s at a conference convened by the American College of Chest Physicians and the Society of Critical Care Medicine modern definitions of sepsis were termed in detail. At that time, sepsis was described as a systemic response to a physiologic insult including infections and other etiologies that lead to the development of further organ injury, ultimately culminating in multiple organ dysfunction syndromes. The word bacteraemia is used when bacteria are isolated from the blood whether clinical symptoms are present or not while the words sepsis or septicaemia is used for the isolation of bacteria in blood in combination with clinical symptoms and signs of infections. Neonatal sepsis, also named Sepsis neonatorum , represents to a group of physical and laboratory findings that occur in response to invasive infection within the first 30 days (neonatal) of life. • 20. Sequence And Sequence Of Proteins Sequence Information of Proteins Just as members in the same family often resemble each other, similarly structured molecules are often grouped in the same category. There are several methods of comparing amino acid sequencing and determining how closely they are related. A simple example is the sequence comparison method. Sequence databases are searched for a specific amino acid sequence of unknown characteristics. A set of molecules that are similar in structure can give insight into the properties of the unknown sequence of amino acids. To determine the similarity between 2 amino acid sequences, one can apply sequence alignment. This method aligns the 2 sequences and slides them past each other one amino acid at a time and calculates what position has the greatest amount of matched residues. However, there is a drawback to this method in that it does not show all of the possible alignments. To counteract this, one can induce a gap in one of the sequences to increase the total possibilities of matches. The gap will compensate for the insertions of deletions of sequences in a gene that is absent in the second sequence. However, simply comparing the identities of amino acids cannot account for everything. To increase the accuracy in the comparing two sequences there are 2 kinds of substitutions that can be made to further progress the determination of amino acids. The first is a conservative substitution which substitutes one amino acid with another amino acid that is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He utilizes a chauvinistic tone in order to effectively characterize the United States as an exceptional country built upon a gridlock of laws through the separation of powers. He postulates, How many of you have read the Federalist Papers? The reality that never more than about 5% of his audience, who are interested in the law, has delved deep into the document portrays them as ignorant. With this concern, Scalia expounds upon his originalist ideals and encourages rivaling judges to alter their opinions of a flexible Constitution. It s the classic story of a man who risks hellfire by dealing with the devil for a brief, yet magnificent, period of otherworldly knowledge and power. This story has been rewritten and reformulated time and time again. I aim to show that the story of Faust is inspired by the story of Adam and Eve. What accounts for this story s persistence? I think it is because readers are gripped by the fantasy of humans possessing divine powers, engaging in adventures and magical exploits, and trafficking with the greatest of evils. Many view the Faust tradition from the perspective of magus literature. Their searches for Faust s beginnings often turn up magicians. The historical Johann Faustus, a sixteenth century charlatan who wandered across Germany, who exercised a minimum of pharmaceutical knowledge...with a maximum amount of malice, was himself a magician. • 37. Developing a Performance Appraisal System Developing a Performance Appraisal System Kimberly Garnett HSM/220 April 3, 2011 Developing A Performance Appraisal System In order for the design and administration of a performance appraisal system; to be effective; managers and employees must communicate on a regular basis. Allan and Rosenberg (1981) stated, Performance appraisal system plays a number of roles in an organization that s geared towards achieving the company s goals and mission. Beginning at the corporate level, values, behaviors, and goals should be identified; these must support the company s strategic mission and promote the success of the business. The basic purpose of performance appraisal system involves two parts, (1) an evaluation system, the evaluation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Different Approaches According to Allan amp; Rosenberg (1981), the system should be based on behavior results; not ambiguous employee characteristics. The appraisals should be reviewed by higher level managers or human resource manager; there should be a formal appeal mechanism or system providing an avenue of appeal to employees who are dissatisfied with their evaluations; and performing counseling, guidance and or training should be provided to help poor performers improve their performance. Supervisors need to know his or her workers, so that he or she has opportunities to steer them towards greater productivity and optimized output. The steps supervisors must take to ensure successful evaluation, and constructive outcomes are: (1) Training (2) Evaluation (3) Review Successful training is the implementation of a system in which everyone in the workplace is geared toward improvement. This involves a hands on approach in which the employee is encouraged to evaluate him or herself under the supervisor. Results based approach to performance appraisal is the most object method of tackling the complex task of evaluation. Designing a Strategic Performance appraisal system, (2011). Key elements. Of an effective performance appraisal system are as follows: 1. Clearly defined performance standards 2. An effective monitoring system 3. Regular discussions of Performance 4. Development of ... • 38. The Coastal And Marine Conservation And Management Approaches 1. Introduction The Coastal and marine conservation and management approaches are focused on a restricted area of significant human usage for practises such as; recreational and commercial fishing and leisure, and highly active biologically. The coastal marine ecosystem has been suffering a general tendency of population growth and, nowadays, has been also linked with industrial increase (Pietersen Beekman 2006). However its benefits might be essential to stakeholders, as a consequence of this constant disproportional growth, the threats are becoming more visual, which also increases the awareness. That, added to the recognition of the coastal environment, existing and emerging threats and important economic value, implies that a feasible management approach is necessary. The difficulties met in planning and management starts at the very first step; identifying and prioritizing the problems (Scherer et al. 2014). Thus, the most feasible and effective approach encountered will be discussed posteriorly to the main threats; such as overfishing, pollution and climate change, in which incorporates ocean temperature rise, sea level rises and ocean acidification (Stelzenmüller Martìn 2009). 2. Threats It is important to highlight that most coastal environments, due mainly to anthropogenic events, are constantly exposed to the majority of these problems, not individually. The synergistic effects of human disturbance expand considerably the responses. In other words, stresses ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. The Pros And Cons Of Poverty Trap What drives poverty? First, how does one country consider itself living in extremely poor conditions? This can be answered by using tools like PPP or GDP per capita to distinguish between poor and rich countries. However, the purpose of this paper is not to discuss which country has the highest GDP, but rather to discuss the ability the poor obtain to boost their way out of poverty. Are there certain limitations that poor people face that refrain them from growing or is it just that the poor will always be poor? This paper will summarize main arguments of mechanisms that give rise to poverty traps from the article, Do Poverty Traps Exist. Based on these summaries, I will conduct further critical reviews on some and provide evidence to back my opinion on the specific mechanism at hand. To begin, one of the arguments first presented in the article give light to saving based poverty traps. If one does not have enough money to save, they cannot achieve sufficient capital so in turn, their incomes become stagnant. However, the study in the article argues that the saving rates do increase from low levels of development. So in some cases, this poverty trap does not exist. Secondly, the article also argues that a big push to the manufacturing sector can result in high returns and high income levels in both the modern sector and traditional sector. While, only investing in the traditional sector, which consists of agriculture, will only provide equalized wages at a low level ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. A Paradigm For Multiple Input Multiple Output ( Mimo )... Abstract A paradigm for multiple input multiple output (MIMO) channel modeling demands diversity technique to compensate the effects of fading and shadowing. In this paper, error performance of MIMO system is analyzed with orthogonal space time block code (OSTBC) and maximal ratio combining (MRC) techniques over Weibull gamma (WG) fading channel. WG distribution forms a composite channel model which is used to determine the effects of multipath as well as shadowing. Closed form expressions for symbol error rate (SER) are computed for MIMO systems using OSTBC and MRC in this scenario. Consequently, the effects of fading severity by varying shape parameters are also shown by simulation and analytical results. Keywords Multiple input multiple output (MIMO), orthogonal space time block code (OSTBC), maximal ratio combining (MRC), Weibull gamma (WG) fading, symbol error rate (SER). Introduction In the present wireless systems, the demand of proliferation of bandwidth for high data rate and reliable communication requirement is increasing. Multiple input multiple output (MIMO) systems are investigated to achieve these requirements. Also, diversity techniques are recommended to increase the reliability of system. Orthogonal space time block codes (OSTBCs) are employed in MIMO systems to achieve the full transmit diversity while allowing a simple maximum likelihood decoding algorithm. This algorithm is based on linear processing of received signals [1 2]. MIMO system uses ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. Professional Objectives Program Discuss your professional objectives both short and long term. What has motivated you to apply to this program? My organization Penske Truck Leasing has been experiencing a sharp decline in the revenue generated from its full service leasing. Results of initial sales analysis concluded that the inflow of the new customers for full service leasing has been growing steadily; thus to increase revenue, the focus needs to be on the renewals for the existing customers. The company realizes that a lack of validated customer loyalty drivers prevents effective focus on customer retention and thus directly affects profitability. Challenges with data availability and business metrics have made attempts to measure and diagnose our service delivery and customer experience, both, difficult and inconclusive. In order to address this challenge, the organization has launched an initiative to build a customer analytics system that can achieve a single view of customer experience and make decisions about how best to acquire and retain customers, recognize high value customers and proactively interact with them. I have been identified as the lead architect for the BI and analytics team that is going to implement this project. I am also privileged to be associated with an initiative that is directed towards human resource analytics that analyzes the performance and profitability that the work force brings to the organization.
