How Is Love Presented In Braveheart s Love
Braveheart doesn t solely focus on William Wallace s passion in combat, it shows more of his passion
for his dead wife and his friends and country. This is shown through Williams love in Braveheart
which is exceptionally sentimental and powerful.Wallace courts his soon to be wife by sneaking her
out of her house, without the consent of her father who is indifferent towards Wallace. He brings her
around on his horse to the beautiful landscape of Scotland; they ride around the rigid highlands of
Scotland. Wallace proposes to her in an almost Disney movie like fashion, under an awning of trees
covered by star light beside a small lake. The scheme has a pale color with a touch of delicate blues
and a dark sky with stars filling the skies. It is a genuinely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His love transforms from the love his beloved into the idea of a independent Scotland free of the the
tyranny of the English monarch, but his love for his wife is a driving force behind is resolve. The love
sequences in gladiator to be more formal and heartfelt. This could be because of the different character
personalities they each have. Maybe because of their higher stature in society they; Unlike Wallace in
Braveheart can t act over feelings of lust and have to be more careful with allowing their emotions to
dictate them. Love is expressed in multiple ways in Gladiator Aurelius loves Maximus more than his
son Commodus. Commodus has a weird incestil love for his sister in the film. Maximus loves Rome
and the empire more than he loves himself. This is conveyed through character interactions and the
way in which they carry themselves in the film. It is more subtle than what is seen in Braveheart.
Wallace has a more lustful and passion relationship with his wife and the French princess in the
movie, while the Aurelias looks at Maximus as if he is his own

George The Sixth
King George the Sixth was born on December 14, 1895 in Norfolk, England. His real name was
Albert Fredrick Arthur George Saxe Coburg Gotha. He was the second born child child of King
George The Fifth and Victoria May. His mother was the Duchess of York. His parents raised him very
strictly. He was often sick or very ill and easily frightened, these are the traits he would never lose
even through adulthood. He also developed a stammer as a child which would eventually affect his
public speaking as an adult. His father was very harsh towards Albert. Albert was naturally left handed
as a child but the tutors his parents had for him forced him to use his right hand.Albert lacked a close
connection with his mother and father. He was also looked ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The King was very disgusted when he heard of the news that the South African government said to
only shake hands with the whites in Africa. The stress of this war was starting to take a toll on George
s health and well being. On the 12th of March the king was up for an operation to remove a
thrombosis on his right leg. A planned tour of Australia and New Zealand was postponed due to the
operation the king was having during this time. After the operation was finished it threatened to have
his right ler removed. With the news of this George s daughter heiress presumptive took on a lot more
royal duties. The originally delayed tour of Australia and New Zealand was reorganized by Elizabeth
and her husband the Duke of Edinburgh taking the place of the king and queen. The king eventually
healed up enough to open the Festival of Britain but shortly after there was a tumor found in his right
lung which ultimately ended up with him having to get that lung removed. The lung was removed by
Clement Thomas Price. In 1951 the king s daughter and her husband took a trip to Canada. Which is
where they stayed for a month, but it was originally delayed again because of the king s health. At the
state opening of parliament the king s speech was read for him while he satin the throne because he
couldn t read the speech himself. It was read by Lord Simmons and then again in Christmas when the
king usually broadcasted a speech he had to do the speeches in

Effects Of Urbanization On Food Supply And Human Security
McKinney s book discusses homogenization as the main effect of urbanization, arguing that major
cities homogenize the physical environment in their attempt to meet the narrow needs of human
beings without regard for indigenous species.McKinney identifies key challenges such as human
disconnection from the natural environment which is a disadvantage of urbanization. The strength of
this source lies in its relevance as it will provide sufficient information for the research topic with
regard to the effects and disadvantages of urbanization.
This book focuses attention on the socio economic and environmental effects of rapid urbanization
and population growth in the developing countries with particular reference to Africa. This source is
useful as the author analyzes the magnitude and causes of urbanization and considers the impact of
rapid urbanization on climate change, phenomena whose spiral effect extends to the future impact of
global warming, health, food security and environmental change. As climatic and environmental
effects of urbanization are most visible in major urban cities, the author also considers the
implications of urbanization on food supply and human security.
This article briefly explains the history of urbanization and its transition over the past decades. before
critically analyzing four mainstream theories of urbanization, their pros and cons. The authors take
into account the micro and macro spiral effects of urbanizationon society by analyzing

Ddt Is A Strong Insecticide
Dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane, better known as DDT is a strong insecticide. DDT was first
produced in 1874. It was perfected and used to keep mosquitos away in the 1930 s. It was used in
World War 2 to keep away mosquitoes that carried deadly viruses off the military men. DDT was
banned from use in a few places in the 1970 s. It was banned from the United States in 1972.
However, in some areas it had been kept in use over the years and is still used in many parts of the
world today. The use of DDT has been in debate around the world for many years. There are many
pros and cons to using this insecticide.
Today areas in South America, Asia and Africa still use DDT. This makes sense because these are
some of the areas with the worst malaria outbreaks. The United States can still produce and sell DDT
to foreign countries, but it is illegal to use the product. It is made and kept on reserve for emergencies
involving bugs and diseases. That is only for extreme cases.
DDT is a good insecticide for a couple different reasons. One being that it is fairly inexpensive to
make. This was extremely convenient in times of war. Compared to other insecticides, pest services,
and bug controls, DDT can be 2 20 times less expensive. Another positive note for using DDT is the
insecticide is only slightly toxic to humans. To kill the bugs, the insecticide is absorbed through the
outer layer of the bugs skin, also known as its exoskeleton. Once inside the bugs flesh, it attacks their

The Mystical And Contemplative Tradition Of My Faith And...
Introduction At a session during a week of 24 hour daily prayer at our local church, something of the
crisis of church in the C21st penetrated my soul. The church rector cried out on behalf of a church in
decline. I took note. I had begun to explore the mystical and contemplative tradition of my faith and
signed up for Ignatian Spiritual Direction training. I joined with a Christian business colleague to lead
a small gathering of women who do not relate to church but who wanted to explore their spirituality.
Embarking on this journey, seems very tenuous compared to evangelical church with its focus, goals
and mission statements. It raises questions about what is church when it seems so difficult for these
women to engage with it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The lavish religious ceremony of the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953 epitomised the sense of
hope to a nation being restored and re built heightened by being televised and watched by millions.
Rituals like first communion were still a significant rite of passage though communicants might be
largely absent from weekly services the rest of the year. In non conformist churches, children who
didn t regularly go to church would turn up to participate in the annual Sunday School Anniversary the
girls in white dresses, the boys in white shirts and ties. Church life was a mellow old sofa like part of
community and the basic tenets of the Christian faith still held as a commonly recognised moral code.
That context began to change during the 1960s where by the end of the decade there was a shift in
social and sexual attitudes as the role of women and traditional often Christian, family based values
could no longer be taken for granted. The work of philosophers such as Jacques Derrida, Jean Paul
Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir and others which deconstructed traditional values and introduced
themes of fragmentation and what some would see as the influence of meaningless ness, influenced
the shift in thinking which impacted the culture of the time. There has been a radical change since the
sunny complacency of the 1950s, a change increasingly dominated by the secular world. I have
selected five factors out of a number which I see as

they are productive; so loyal, committed, and productive, in fact, that only a small percentage of the
employees ever leave once they have been hired at SAS. They have the employees who don t want to
leave the work even if they get little more money somewhere else as they want the peace they get in
SAS. (Drucker 1974, Chaffee 1985)

Personal Interest Project Idea
Though the investigations of my PIP, I have learnt an incredible amount of new information. In the
beginning my idea about FGM was generalised, and totally different to my understanding of FGM
now, as it has grown extensively. The purpose of my Personal Interest Project was to investigate
whether my hypothesis was true, if FGM was and still is done today as a means of control by men
over women. I wanted to investigate everything I possibly could for this topic to receive a greater
knowledge and understanding of FGM, and why it continues to be such a strong cultural practice, and
rite of passage for women and girls. Predominantly it was my personal upbringing that triggered my
interest in equality among societies, leading me to this topic.

Anybody who has ever looked up in the night sky and see that there are hundred and thousand stars,
but what about other galaxies? Learning about what lies beyond the star is something many
astronomers have been doing hundreds of years. Early astronomers used to tie telescopes to huge
balloon to see more of what lies beyond, then later they would use Lear jets and rockets and attached
small telescopes discover infrared sources. Soon scientist realized that if they really want study space
they would have to build a telescope that could be used in space, something that could go above the
atmosphere and study deep space. The Spitzer space telescope was built for this mission, although it

Gorbachev and the East German Revolution
Introduction On November 9, 1989, the most iconic symbol of communism and the USSR fell. The
Berlin Wall symbolically represented the division of Europe as a result of the Cold War ; it divided the
West and East of Europe. Originally, after the end of World War II, the Allied powers disarmed and
broke Berlin into four zones of occupations: American, Soviet, British, and French. Slowly, the Soviet
Union started to gain control of Eastern Europe post war. The Yalta Agreement in February, 1945,
gave the Soviet Union complete power to extend its control beyond its borders into the Eastern
European Countries under the Red Army, and eventually, Eastern Germany was swallowed into the
Communist Regime. Until, the 1980s, the German Democratic ... Show more content on

Gorbachev spearheaded this effort with his rise to General Secretary in March, 1985, with the support
of the Central Committee . To further public support of his new radical policy, perestroika was
influenced by Lenin in that in April of 1983, Gorbachev worked with Lenin tenets on the formation of
efficient economic laws, proper government spending, and planning costs . The adoption of a more
westernized economic policy did indeed lead to better working and living conditions and eliminated
Socialist ethics in economy . By 1987, the economy of the Soviet Union had dramatically improved.
Public support for Gorbachev was immense, and in January of 1987, the Communist Party of the
Soviet Union (CBSU) Central Committee decided that efforts to implement democratic ideals should
be increased . This allowed for a more liberal view of economic issues, which led to the adoption of
the Fundamentals of Radical Restructuring of Economic Management in June, 1987 . This reform
increased the independence of business, and granted all rights to the businesses themselves. This was
all part in structuring a more efficient and stable economy in the Soviet Union. Furthermore, glasnost,
a policy in which democratic ideals is implemented into society, was used . Gorbachev also used
perestroika and glasnost in his foreign policy. In November of 1986,

Søren Kierkegaard
People demand freedom of speech as a compensation for the freedom of thought which they seldom
use. Lets go back to when men valued thought, for they valued its effect on the world, lets go back and
take a look at the father of Christian Existentialism, Søren Kierkegaard. Søren Kierkegaard was born
to a father who inflicted strict and rigorous religious teaching upon his children. His father felt this
was necessary because of his sinful habit that resulted in an affair with his 1st wife s maid.
Kierkegaard, after a broken engagement with his love, was handed over to a life of severe melancholy.
Yet as a result of both his personal pain and brilliant mind, a literary life few could surpass, and
wisdom of thought (does that make sense) ensued. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His answer was summarized in three words, Fear and Trembling. This is something that he spent an
immense amount of time answering, and his answers can be condensed into the example that he gave
from the Old Testament in the Bible. He gives Christians an example in which to follow, in the
patriarch Abraham. The example that Abraham gives, and we are to follow, is found in how Abraham
responds to the command to kill his son. For man, especially a father, this command is unfathomable,
yet because God wanted to test Abraham (give better reasoning), he told him to sacrifice his son.
Kierkegaard looks at Genesis 22:2, it says, He said, Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you
love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of
which I shall tell you. He notes the unbearable precision in the command, when God says take your
son, your only son Isaac, whom you love (emphasis added) Kierkegaard also takes a close look at the
beginning of the next verse, it says, So Abraham rose early in the morning. He notes that some men
take this excerpt to men that Abraham was rising early to faithfully carry out his duty. And while that
has some truth to it, it is not complete, Kierkegaard emphasizes the fact that he rose early, not because
he got a great night of sleep, rather that he wrestled with this command in

We have become immune to true feelings for individual images and stories, and thrive on the idea of
the next gossip that will follow. In this selection of the book, Gitlin discusses a seventeenth century
Dutch painter by the name of Vermeer. Vermeer was known for being able to fr[ee]ze instants, but
instants that spoke of the relative constancy of the world in which his subjects lived (Gitlin 558).
People collected Vermeer s paintings for display throughout their homes. Gitlin sees Vermeer as the
seventeenth century version of the media. In that time, the images painted were relative to the people s
era and private world. In today s world Vermeer would be the equivalent to a celebrity photographer or
movie director. If Vermeer, or any other artist of his time, were to see today s households, they would
find that the once private space inside the home is now much more dominated by images of the
outside world than what would have been possible in the 1600 s. As mentioned in Gitlin s research,
statistics show that, watching TV is the dominant leisure activity of Americans, consuming 40 percent
of the average person s free time as a primary activity [when people give television there undivided
attention] (Gitlin 560). Even the wealthier parts of poor worlds have access to some sort of media. It
would take someone from a third world country to be stunned by the fact that our lives are constantly

Hyperbole In The Things They Carried
Society s perception on war is often clouded by popular media. Action packed movies with fictional
war heroes, and video games set in past wars, are examples of such hyperbole. It is outlets like these
that raise society s expectations of soldiers into unrealistic ideas. While it may seem as black and
white as killing the bad guy, majority of the population does not consider the long term effects war
may have on soldiers. Most movies portray soldiers as emotionless killing machines and leave out the
lifelong psychological effects war can have on a person. Tim O Brien s book The Things They Carried
is a look into the mind of a soldier in the middle of war. In the book, we learn of First Lieutenant
Jimmy Cross, a soldier who is carrying the guilt

Calvin And The Holy Spirit Essay
Calvin stressed the importance of the inner experience and by doing this introduced the Holy Spirit
which helps intertwine both mind and heart in relation to faith. In doing so Calvin emphasized that
Faith is the knowledge of the divine will as ascertained from his word (Calvin 9). This all sums up that
faith is composed of the truth given by God and our own experience with God. Calvin made headlines
in the 16th century as a reformer questioning Catholics commitment to God, who he said have been
misguided. He criticized that the scripture should not be read in literal meaning through the lens of
tradition, and example being transubstantiation. That one does not have to consume bread and wine to
strengthen their relationship with God, Calvin states that every person who believes is already adopted
into the family of God, and that the Holy Spirit is what will take us up to Heaven. ... Show more

In the passage Calvin defines faith as a steady and certain knowledge of the divine benevolence
towards us (Calvin 10). Having faith in Christ is not just trust, it is believing that Christ will be loyal
and kind to us even when we are not loyal and kind to him. Calvin s idea of faith does fit into Karr s
role as a recovering addict and recent convert as she struggles with her depression and upholding her
happiness with God. In Facing Altars Prayer has yielded comfort and direction all well and good. But
imagine my horror when I began to have experiences of joy (Karr 23). Through prayer eliminate the
inner turmoil that comes with human nature. And by doing this she managed to find a community in
God, she is able to do a trust fall with God and not worry on his reliability. This resonates well in my
eyes with Calvin s definition of faith where even in our darkest times God will always be loyal to

Summary Of The Assassination Of Abraham Lincoln
What was the most significant truth you learned from this book and what makes it so significant? How
will you apply this new knowledge to your future? Abraham Lincoln supported the Civil war as he felt
that it was necessary to prevent secession of the Southern States, even though the states had the right
to secede. He was against the institution of slavery expanding and he grew up with a family that
attended a Baptist church that opposed slavery. However, it is uncertain as to what Lincoln s views on
African Americans truly were as he appealed to his voters, white men. The most significant truth I
learned from Killing Lincoln was that there are horrible people from all walks of life; however, blind
hatred should not be condoned. Blind hatred ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
John Wilkes Booth assassinated Abraham Lincoln while he was unarmed and sitting next to his wife
watching a play. To most American citizens he was a crazed murderer without a conscience, but to
others, such as the countless southern sympathizers as a result of the Civil War, he was a martyr for
their cause. At the time of Lincoln s assassination the war was essentially over, Booth killed because
he and his fellow southern sympathizers were sore losers. He did not murder to satisfy a sick
perversion; he killed to atone for the sins of the union. Booth went to church, he was well educated, he
was an actor, he had charisma, all of the traits of someone who should not have been a felon, but he
was. He was not perfect, he was racist, and he fervently supported his opinions, which is not
necessarily an evil action, but with freedom comes the potential for great actions of differing morals.
He was politically motivated to assassinate Lincoln, he was not insane. He believed that the best
country in the world was the United States before the Civil War, and like Lincoln did with his
presidency and the Emancipation Proclamation, he made great efforts to enact changes in radical
ways. However, I believe that the killing of another human

Citizen Kane And The Social Network Analysis
Orson Welles Citizen Kane (1941), is remembered as one of the greatest American films to be made.
Its revolutionary storyline and the new ideas that Welles introduces in the film sets it apart from others
created at the time. The film depicts a young man, Charles Kane (Orson Welles), who grew up
wealthy and who eventually owns a newspaper. Throughout the movie, as he gains wealth and power,
he exhibits a distinct weakness that eventually leads to his downfall. While David Fincher s The
Social Network (2010) isn t as famous as Citizen Kane, it represents the same idea. In this film a
young man, Mark Zuckerberg (Jesse Eisenberg) innovates a website that over the course of the movie
gains popularity and support, this leads him to gain wealth and influence. Zuckerberg s ignorance and
ill mannered behavior have a significant impact on his downfall. Both of these movies portray the
theme, pride goeth before a fall, and throughout the development of the theme of these particular
films, both protagonists end up hurting numerous people because of their pride. Both these films
represent and portray the theme in a similar fashion, although they also exhibit differences. The theme
in Citizen Kane is represented as dramatic and grand. Whereas in The Social Network the theme is
more subtle and modest. The cinematography of these films also contributes to the portrayal of the
theme. Orson Welles, the director, and cinematographer of Citizen Kane. uses many extreme angels,

make someone be just like them. I believe we are all equal and have the same rights. I don t believe
that If someone is famous and they manage to be pulled over that they can sustain getting away with
it, but if I get pulled over I don t get away with it. I made goals for myself this year. Most people make
goals for themselves but never achieve it or do it. Me being one of those people that do that. One of
the goals I made is that I want to be more well balanced. I don t try as hard as I should in gym class or
I never exercise. My other goal is to collect a 4 or more in my classes. I want to try harder this year
than I have ever tried in any of the other grades. My last goal is to be more of a risk taker. Every time
someone tells me to try something new I hesitate and don t try. I think too much about what could
happen. I am caring. I love to see people happy or excited about something. I hate seeing ... Show

The Weimar Republic And The Treaty Of Versailles, League...
Freedom and Justice are twin sisters. This quote was obtained from Friedrich Ebert, in his inaugural
speech when he was elected President of the Weimar Republic in January of 1919. For the past few
months, I have been deeply analyzing and researching incessantly some reliable sources to discuss
some of the major events and factors that led to the failure of the Weimar Republic which are the
Treaty of Versailles, League of Nations, and poor leadership. Well, to start of with, It all goes back to a
small town in Germany called Weimar. In this German region, the first constitutional assembly of the
Weimar Republic occurred. The name Weimar Republic derives after the location of where the
convention took place. Not to mention, the Weimar Constitution was formed after the votes of three
political parties in Germany. Before I continue, how did the Weimar Republic actually form? Before
the start of World War One, the head of Germany was Kaiser Wilhelm, and despite that he was one of
the main causes of the war, he did not took responsibility for it and took some of the German
Government money and fled to the Netherlands. Wilhelm was the Emperor of a Monarch Germany up
to November 9, 1918, when the Chancellor of that time, Prince Maximilian Von Baden announced the
abdication of the Kaiser. Although Prince Maximilian Von Baden was the chancellor for a short
amount of time, he is seen as imperative for the formation of Germany into a republic, however his
liberal reputation was put

Article 25 Maltese online casino scandal deepens
Malta has arguably been the home of online casino gaming for the better part of two decades. Low
taxation and lax regulation make it a haven for online casino companies who want to operate on a
budget. However, the days of the easy life have been put under threat by a growing scandal that is
shaking the foundations of the online casino industry in Malta.
Malta is a known haven for offshore online casino companies, but the Maltese government is clearly
looking to bring an end to the Wild West nature of industry. Six companies have now had their assets
claimed through the government operation, as the Malta Gaming Authority continues to suspend
operators who have links to the ongoing corruption. The latest crackdown has come from Italian
shores, as concerns were raised over how several online casino gaming companies were being not
only operated, but how they were being financially supported. Money laundering accusations were
made, which has led to the enforced closure of Fast Run Ltd, Betsolution4U Limited, Uniq Group
Limited (also known as Betuniq), Tebaral Trading Ltd, and Tebaral Holding Ltd. All assets of such
companies have been seized as the European issued warrant has allowed the Malta Police Force to
investigate connections between Malta s online casino landscape and the Calabria mafia.
Rumours of corruption within the world of Malta based online casino gaming definitely aren t new,
but this is the first time that

Coach Yoast And Laziness
This brings be back to the reasons why each individual lead the way that they did, Boone had most
likely had nothing handed to him, and as he stated in the movie he had 12 brothers and sisters that he
was expected to raise, he was never in the position to allow individuals the latitude to find themselves,
and as far as he saw it, neither did the black individuals on his team. Conversely Coach Yoast had
worked with the white individuals on his team since they were children, affording him the luxury of
time that allowed him to lead the way he did. You can see the same authoritarian style appear when
needed, for example at the beginning of the movie when a group of the team ran off to protect the

Concept Of Tuition Fees
The Nobody State University when increasing the tuition fee should do this while ensuring that the
university maintains healthy enrolment of students. The increase in tuition fee will not necessarily lead
to increase in revenue. Theoretically, we can use the price elasticity concept. The concept explains the
relationship between the responsiveness of demand towards changes in price (Cini 2015). Higher
tuition fees will mean that newer students will prefer universities that are much cheaper. NSU goal to
raise more revenue will not be achieved. The already existing students, however, will have no choice
but to pay the new tuition fees. Getting higher education is every person s needs and for the university
to increase fees might make this a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Paying in installments will lessen the effect the student will feel when the fees are increased. The
increase in revenue will make the students more resistant to any other change that the university might
want to add.
The amount of revenue will remain the same if the cost of collecting that revenue will increase.
Admissions of students cost a lot of money. The difference will just be the same, and the university
will not have done any justice to itself or the students. Fewer students to be enrolled will mean that the
staff is underworked. The economy is another condition that will decide whether revenue will increase
once the fee is increased. Improved economy means that students can afford the state university fees.
Regardless of the increased fee, more students will want to enroll (Cini 2015). What the university
should do to expand revenue is through marketing. The university should have a good marketing plan
to attract more students to the school. Nobody State University can for example come up with a
program that students apply for free school meals for those who academically perform better. Search
kind of marketing strategy will attract more students to enroll. This way revenue will be expanded.
Another way to expand revenue is through resourceful staffing. The university can look at how
efficiency can be achieved in the staffing budget. The university should have guidance on organizing
staff structure which is

George Orwell Politics And The English Language
Language is the network of communication in thought, spoken words, and written verse. It is
structural and formed through the development and adaptions of human beings. As art itself, language
takes the configuration of the world and conveys itself in a diverse manner. Although, some persons
argue that language shall be strictly followed and contain no modifications for that ruins the sole
purpose of language being our system of disclosure. George Orwell, in his text Politics and the
English Language , delivers a message of traditional English being taken further from its roots and
changed into something harsh and inadequate. On the other hand, there s the more lenient and open
author, James Baldwin, who in his text, If Black English isn t a Language, Then Tell me, What is? ,
delivers a cry of despair for the language that has grown as its own from his culture and background.
Thus, both Orwell and Baldwin have similar and different outlooks on the perception of language and
how it should be presented in thought and literature. To begin with their differences, Orwell expounds
on the faults of English language when written constructively. In his text, Politics and the English
Language , he pleads with his concerns about modern writers and their writing structure through a
haughty and conservative perspective. To this author, language and writing is incorrigible. For
instance, in the text he states, In certain kinds of writing, particularly in art criticism and

Identity In The Bell Jar
The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath is a book about a young woman who is facing life the unexpected way.
Esther is trying to place the puzzle pieces in order but it isn t quite working. There is a different view
of humanity in this book and it gives chills to read what she went through. Esther goes through
struggles that show her true colors within throughout the book. The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath dips into
the idea for the search of social identity, the idea of melting pot , and what the American Dream really
means to oneself.
In The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath it is stated, The mouth in the mirror cracked into a grin. A minute after
the crash another nurse ran in. (Plath 175). Indicating that her mouth is not worthy to be called her

An American Dream is, It was the custom at my college, the little freckled lady in the Scholarships
Office told me, to write to the person whose scholarship you had, if they were still alive, and thank

thank the person that gave you the tremendous honor. Unfortunately, not many get the opportunity to
be honored with a scholarship, Esther was one of the lucky ones who got a great opportunity.
Including this quote showing the American Dream, He folded his hands together and looked at me and

Summary Of The Shadow Of Man
Goodall, J. (1971). In the Shadow of Man. Boston: Houghton Mifflin. The author s goal in writing this
book is to discuss her experiences and what she had learned from studying wild Chimpanzees.
Goodall wrote this book in order to convey her knowledge of a species of animal she loves very much,
so that others may become educated and join her in protecting them. She dreamed of going to Africa
to see them, and was offered a job by Dr. Lewis Leakey. Goodall wanted nothing more than a chance
to help. Her experiences in surrounding herself with them have completely changed the way scientists
conduct field research. Whether she intended to or not, the data she has collected has debunked myths
and uncovered truths about chimpanzees, while bringing more light to human behavior.
Brief Summary
The book begins with Goodall in Africa, high up on steep mountains over six months into her trip to
Gombe Stream Research Centre. She then flashbacks, and tells the whole story of how she got there. It
begins when she was a child, and her mother bought her a stuffed Chimpanzee named Jubilee. Her
love grew until she was able to finally visit Africa by staying with a friend. There she met Dr. Leakey,
who at the time was a very famous anthropologist and paleontologist. He hired her to study the
chimpanzees and sent her to Gombe. There she follows a group of chimps, and tells the stories of how
she became a part of their life. She names them all, and follows them for years. During this time she

A Banner In The Sky Analysis
In chapter two of A Banner in the Sky, this quote symbolizes being knowledgeable, To get down to
Kurtal would take at least two hours, and for a party to climb back up would take three hours. By that
time it would be night, and the man would have been in the crevasse for eight hours. He would be
frozen to death (Page 1)
In this scene, Rudi is taking all the information he knows about mountain climbing, and figuring out
how long everything would take.
Rudi also thinks of all the circumstances that could happen if he didn t help the climber who is stuck
in the crevasse. Mountain climbers must have this trait because they must know what s around them
and how to adapt to their own surroundings.

he knows which way to go then he would know how to get out. If mountain climbers don t posses this
trait of having knowledge, they could very well die if they don t know what they re doing.
Another trait a mountain climber must have is being a risk taker.
These climbers risk life and limb to thin air, frostbite, bone chilling cold, hypothermia, avalanche and
high wind to reach some of the world s highest summits like the 14 mountains in Asia that rise above
8,000 meters. (❡4) These mountain climbers risk their lives for the view and beauty of the world. The
evidence also shows that if anyone takes a risk, that person can have great achievements. If mountain
climbers don t possess this trait then they aren t cut out for being a mountain climber. Mountain

Black History Exposed In James Mcbride s The Color Of Water
Black History is not exclusively important to those of African descent, nor does it only apply to black
youth. When Black History is taught to those of all races and backgrounds, the negative stigma around
our people is destroyed. People tend to fear the unknown. Many conclude that things they don t know
much about must be dangerous and terrifying, such as outer space, dark alley ways, and religions other
than Christianity. When the education system does not teach black history, it becomes part of an
unknown, scary, dangerous void. In James McBride s, The Color of Water, he describes how the
neglect of black history affects everyone. Most white folks I knew seemed to have a great fear of
blacks. Even as a young child, I aware of that. I d read it in the paper, between the lines of my ... Show

This is why white workers follow black customers through stores, and why white women clutch their
purses when a black man walks by, why the eyes of white children widen in fear when they come
across a complexion darker than their own. This fear is taught, ironically, by what is not taught.
Schools do not mention the kindness, perseverance, or intelligence of black people throughout history,
so white children grow up believing that these traits are exclusive to them. Since school does not teach
the positives of black history, white children must turn to other sources. Unfortunately, television,
movies and music all portray the black man as a subhuman, violent criminal. In Gil Scott Heron s
poem, The Revolution Will Not be Televised, he speaks on the lack of positive media coverage in
black communities. The revolution will not be right back after a message about a white tornado, white
lightning, or white people. (Scott Heron) This lack of positive media coverage as well as lack of
history lead to a negative stigma around our people and a fear of anyone seeming to be of African

Confederation And Constitution ( Ginger )
Confederation and Constitution (Ginger) After winning independence from Great Britain in 1776, the
United States was in need of an organized national government, clearly defined in written form. The
first Continental Congress drafted the Articles of confederation the following year, though it would
not be ratified until 1781. The Articles provided the framework for a centralized government but
ultimately were not strong enough to enforce its own requirements. A new constitution was needed.
Congressional leaders began the process of drafting another document that would strengthen the weak
federal government while continuing to ensure individual liberties. The Constitution of the United
States was ratified in 1787 after much debate and compromise. (Charters of Freedom A More Perfect

Articles of Confederation The Articles of Confederation were written to supply the newly independent
nation with guidelines for a centralized government. Under the Articles, this government was
successful in winning it s independence from Great Britain through the Revolutionary War. Members
of the Continental Congress negotiated an end to the war by signing the Treaty of Paris. Another
accomplishment of the Articles was the establishment of the Departments of Foreign Affairs, War,

How Does Hawthorne Use Paradoxes In The Scarlet Letter
In the book of Genesis, Adam and Eve received an amazing gift from god: the Garden of Eden. He
gave them everything they could possibly need plus a tree the Tree of Knowledge from which they
were not to eat. Eve fell into Satan s temptations and took the fruit from the forbidden tree, causing
Adam to follow her example. Much like Adam and Eve, Reverend Arthur Dimmesdale and Hester
Prynne are cast out for their sin in The Scarlet Letter. They both suffer through their sins and
transgression of society s norms, but each in different ways. Hester faces the public consequences and
keeps her integrity, whereas Dimmesdale never confesses and loses it. In The Scarlet Letter,
Hawthorne uses paradoxes and biblical allusions to convey that because everyone sins; sinning does
not affect a person s morality, not admitting to being a sinner does.
Through Hawthorne s use of paradoxes, he reveals his message that due to the pervasiveness of sin,
being a sinner does not affect a person s morality, not admitting to sin does. While Hawthorne makes
it clear that other people within the community sin, only one person in the novel was ever publicly
vilified Hester. Hawthorne intrudes into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

only one is an honorable person. This trend of sinning is not only seen within Hawthorne s novel, it is
seen in real life. Sin is everywhere, ranging from the little white lie to murder but what people need to
realize is that sin is not the problem, the denial of sin is. There is not a person in the world who has not
sinned, calling them all immoral is not only absurd but impossible. As Ecclesiastes 7:20 puts it, there
is no one on earth who is righteous, no one who does what is right and never

Who killed the electric car ? Environmental issues
Who Killed the Electric Car is a documentary which unfolds a complex set of events around the
development and demise of the modern electric car. The story stems from California from the early
1990s to 2006. Everything begins to unfold with a brief history of the first electric cars created in the
early twentieth century. These electric vehicles were killed off nearly 100 years ago as gas/petroleum
powered internal combustion engine cars became cheaper. The worsening problems of gas/petrol cars

EVs are less polluting even if the electricity comes from coal fired power plants. Furthermore, the
emissions of coal fired power plants can be controlled and regulated in ways not possible for vehicles,
as the number power plants is miniscule compared to the number of gas powered vehicles. The car
companies also argued that they would not be able to technically and financially meet the
requirements of the ZEV Mandate. Car and oil companies joined the Federal Government to sue the
State of California and overturn the ZEV Mandate.
Federal Government and oil companies put forward hydrogen fuel cells as a better alternative to gas
and battery electric cars. In contrast, interviews with two hydrogen experts gave details why fuel cell
vehicles are not likely to be available for another 15 20 years if ever, whereas battery electric
technology is available now, has been rapidly improving since the mid 1990s and is cost effective.
In 1999, having won some initial concessions in the Mandate, US automakers started shutting down
their EV programs. GM bought the rights to manufacture the Hummer, as they saw it would make
them money. In 2002 the maximum Federal tax credit for an EV was $4000. In 2003 the same tax
credit for a 6000+ lbs vehicle was $100,000. Of course, many members of the US Federal
Government Bush Administration were

  • 4. How Is Love Presented In Braveheart s Love Braveheart doesn t solely focus on William Wallace s passion in combat, it shows more of his passion for his dead wife and his friends and country. This is shown through Williams love in Braveheart which is exceptionally sentimental and powerful.Wallace courts his soon to be wife by sneaking her out of her house, without the consent of her father who is indifferent towards Wallace. He brings her around on his horse to the beautiful landscape of Scotland; they ride around the rigid highlands of Scotland. Wallace proposes to her in an almost Disney movie like fashion, under an awning of trees covered by star light beside a small lake. The scheme has a pale color with a touch of delicate blues and a dark sky with stars filling the skies. It is a genuinely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Maybe because of their higher stature in society they; Unlike Wallace in Braveheart can t act over feelings of lust and have to be more careful with allowing their emotions to dictate them. Love is expressed in multiple ways in Gladiator Aurelius loves Maximus more than his son Commodus. Commodus has a weird incestil love for his sister in the film. Maximus loves Rome and the empire more than he loves himself. This is conveyed through character interactions and the way in which they carry themselves in the film. He was the second born child child of King George The Fifth and Victoria May. His mother was the Duchess of York. His parents raised him very strictly. He was often sick or very ill and easily frightened, these are the traits he would never lose even through adulthood. The stress of this war was starting to take a toll on George s health and well being. On the 12th of March the king was up for an operation to remove a thrombosis on his right leg. A planned tour of Australia and New Zealand was postponed due to the operation the king was having during this time. After the operation was finished it threatened to have his right ler removed. With the news of this George s daughter heiress presumptive took on a lot more royal duties. The originally delayed tour of Australia and New Zealand was reorganized by Elizabeth and her husband the Duke of Edinburgh taking the place of the king and queen. The king eventually healed up enough to open the Festival of Britain but shortly after there was a tumor found in his right lung which ultimately ended up with him having to get that lung removed. The lung was removed by Clement Thomas Price. In 1951 the king s daughter and her husband took a trip to Canada. Which is where they stayed for a month, but it was originally delayed again because of the king s health. • 6. Effects Of Urbanization On Food Supply And Human Security McKinney s book discusses homogenization as the main effect of urbanization, arguing that major cities homogenize the physical environment in their attempt to meet the narrow needs of human beings without regard for indigenous species.McKinney identifies key challenges such as human disconnection from the natural environment which is a disadvantage of urbanization. The strength of this source lies in its relevance as it will provide sufficient information for the research topic with regard to the effects and disadvantages of urbanization. This book focuses attention on the socio economic and environmental effects of rapid urbanization and population growth in the developing countries with particular reference to Africa. • 7. Ddt Is A Strong Insecticide Dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane, better known as DDT is a strong insecticide. DDT was first produced in 1874. It was perfected and used to keep mosquitos away in the 1930 s. It was used in World War 2 to keep away mosquitoes that carried deadly viruses off the military men. DDT was banned from use in a few places in the 1970 s. It was banned from the United States in 1972. However, in some areas it had been kept in use over the years and is still used in many parts of the world today. The use of DDT has been in debate around the world for many years. There are many pros and cons to using this insecticide. Today areas in South America, Asia and Africa still use DDT. This makes sense because these are some of the areas with the worst malaria outbreaks. The United States can still produce and sell DDT to foreign countries, but it is illegal to use the product. It is made and kept on reserve for emergencies involving bugs and diseases. That is only for extreme cases. DDT is a good insecticide for a couple different reasons. One being that it is fairly inexpensive to make. This was extremely convenient in times of war. Compared to other insecticides, pest services, and bug controls, DDT can be 2 20 times less expensive. Another positive note for using DDT is the insecticide is only slightly toxic to humans. To kill the bugs, the insecticide is absorbed through the outer layer of the bugs skin, also known as its exoskeleton. Once inside the bugs flesh, it attacks their nervous ... • 8. The Mystical And Contemplative Tradition Of My Faith And... Introduction At a session during a week of 24 hour daily prayer at our local church, something of the crisis of church in the C21st penetrated my soul. The church rector cried out on behalf of a church in decline. I took note. I had begun to explore the mystical and contemplative tradition of my faith and signed up for Ignatian Spiritual Direction training. I joined with a Christian business colleague to lead a small gathering of women who do not relate to church but who wanted to explore their spirituality. Embarking on this journey, seems very tenuous compared to evangelical church with its focus, goals and mission statements. It raises questions about what is church when it seems so difficult for these women to engage with it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The lavish religious ceremony of the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953 epitomised the sense of hope to a nation being restored and re built heightened by being televised and watched by millions. Rituals like first communion were still a significant rite of passage though communicants might be largely absent from weekly services the rest of the year. In non conformist churches, children who didn t regularly go to church would turn up to participate in the annual Sunday School Anniversary the girls in white dresses, the boys in white shirts and ties. Church life was a mellow old sofa like part of community and the basic tenets of the Christian faith still held as a commonly recognised moral code. That context began to change during the 1960s where by the end of the decade there was a shift in social and sexual attitudes as the role of women and traditional often Christian, family based values could no longer be taken for granted. The work of philosophers such as Jacques Derrida, Jean Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir and others which deconstructed traditional values and introduced themes of fragmentation and what some would see as the influence of meaningless ness, influenced the shift in thinking which impacted the culture of the time. There has been a radical change since the sunny complacency of the 1950s, a change increasingly dominated by the secular world. I have selected five factors out of a number which I see as ... In the beginning my idea about FGM was generalised, and totally different to my understanding of FGM now, as it has grown extensively. The purpose of my Personal Interest Project was to investigate whether my hypothesis was true, if FGM was and still is done today as a means of control by men over women. I wanted to investigate everything I possibly could for this topic to receive a greater knowledge and understanding of FGM, and why it continues to be such a strong cultural practice, and rite of passage for women and girls. Predominantly it was my personal upbringing that triggered my interest in equality among societies, leading me to this topic. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Gorbachev and the East German Revolution Introduction On November 9, 1989, the most iconic symbol of communism and the USSR fell. The Berlin Wall symbolically represented the division of Europe as a result of the Cold War ; it divided the West and East of Europe. Originally, after the end of World War II, the Allied powers disarmed and broke Berlin into four zones of occupations: American, Soviet, British, and French. Slowly, the Soviet Union started to gain control of Eastern Europe post war. The Yalta Agreement in February, 1945, gave the Soviet Union complete power to extend its control beyond its borders into the Eastern European Countries under the Red Army, and eventually, Eastern Germany was swallowed into the Communist Regime. The adoption of a more westernized economic policy did indeed lead to better working and living conditions and eliminated Socialist ethics in economy . By 1987, the economy of the Soviet Union had dramatically improved. Public support for Gorbachev was immense, and in January of 1987, the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CBSU) Central Committee decided that efforts to implement democratic ideals should be increased . This allowed for a more liberal view of economic issues, which led to the adoption of the Fundamentals of Radical Restructuring of Economic Management in June, 1987 . Lets go back to when men valued thought, for they valued its effect on the world, lets go back and take a look at the father of Christian Existentialism, Søren Kierkegaard. Søren Kierkegaard was born to a father who inflicted strict and rigorous religious teaching upon his children. His father felt this was necessary because of his sinful habit that resulted in an affair with his 1st wife s maid. Kierkegaard, after a broken engagement with his love, was handed over to a life of severe melancholy. Yet as a result of both his personal pain and brilliant mind, a literary life few could surpass, and wisdom of thought (does that make sense) ensued. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His answer was summarized in three words, Fear and Trembling. This is something that he spent an immense amount of time answering, and his answers can be condensed into the example that he gave from the Old Testament in the Bible. He gives Christians an example in which to follow, in the patriarch Abraham. The example that Abraham gives, and we are to follow, is found in how Abraham responds to the command to kill his son. For man, especially a father, this command is unfathomable, yet because God wanted to test Abraham (give better reasoning), he told him to sacrifice his son. Kierkegaard looks at Genesis 22:2, it says, He said, Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you. He notes the unbearable precision in the command, when God says take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love (emphasis added) Kierkegaard also takes a close look at the beginning of the next verse, it says, So Abraham rose early in the morning. He notes that some men take this excerpt to men that Abraham was rising early to faithfully carry out his duty. And while that has some truth to it, it is not complete, Kierkegaard emphasizes the fact that he rose early, not because he got a great night of sleep, rather that he wrestled with this command in ... People collected Vermeer s paintings for display throughout their homes. Gitlin sees Vermeer as the seventeenth century version of the media. In that time, the images painted were relative to the people s era and private world. In today s world Vermeer would be the equivalent to a celebrity photographer or movie director. If Vermeer, or any other artist of his time, were to see today s households, they would find that the once private space inside the home is now much more dominated by images of the outside world than what would have been possible in the 1600 s. Calvin And The Holy Spirit Essay Calvin stressed the importance of the inner experience and by doing this introduced the Holy Spirit which helps intertwine both mind and heart in relation to faith. In doing so Calvin emphasized that Faith is the knowledge of the divine will as ascertained from his word (Calvin 9). This all sums up that faith is composed of the truth given by God and our own experience with God. Calvin made headlines in the 16th century as a reformer questioning Catholics commitment to God, who he said have been misguided. He criticized that the scripture should not be read in literal meaning through the lens of tradition, and example being transubstantiation. For the past few months, I have been deeply analyzing and researching incessantly some reliable sources to discuss some of the major events and factors that led to the failure of the Weimar Republic which are the Treaty of Versailles, League of Nations, and poor leadership. Well, to start of with, It all goes back to a small town in Germany called Weimar. In this German region, the first constitutional assembly of the Weimar Republic occurred. The Articles provided the framework for a centralized government but ultimately were not strong enough to enforce its own requirements. A new constitution was needed. Congressional leaders began the process of drafting another document that would strengthen the weak federal government while continuing to ensure individual liberties. The Constitution of the United States was ratified in 1787 after much debate and compromise. • 33. How Does Hawthorne Use Paradoxes In The Scarlet Letter In the book of Genesis, Adam and Eve received an amazing gift from god: the Garden of Eden. He gave them everything they could possibly need plus a tree the Tree of Knowledge from which they were not to eat. Eve fell into Satan s temptations and took the fruit from the forbidden tree, causing Adam to follow her example. Much like Adam and Eve, Reverend Arthur Dimmesdale and Hester Prynne are cast out for their sin in The Scarlet Letter. They both suffer through their sins and transgression of society s norms, but each in different ways. Hester faces the public consequences and keeps her integrity, whereas Dimmesdale never confesses and loses it. In The Scarlet Letter, Hawthorne uses paradoxes and biblical allusions to convey that because everyone sins; sinning does not affect a person s morality, not admitting to being a sinner does. Through Hawthorne s use of paradoxes, he reveals his message that due to the pervasiveness of sin, being a sinner does not affect a person s morality, not admitting to sin does. While Hawthorne makes it clear that other people within the community sin, only one person in the novel was ever publicly vilified Hester. Hawthorne intrudes into ... This trend of sinning is not only seen within Hawthorne s novel, it is seen in real life. Sin is everywhere, ranging from the little white lie to murder but what people need to realize is that sin is not the problem, the denial of sin is. There is not a person in the world who has not sinned, calling them all immoral is not only absurd but impossible. As Ecclesiastes 7:20 puts it, there is no one on earth who is righteous, no one who does what is right and never ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Environmental issues Who Killed the Electric Car is a documentary which unfolds a complex set of events around the development and demise of the modern electric car. The story stems from California from the early 1990s to 2006. Everything begins to unfold with a brief history of the first electric cars created in the early twentieth century. These electric vehicles were killed off nearly 100 years ago as gas/petroleum powered internal combustion engine cars became cheaper. The worsening problems of gas/petrol cars are illustrated: smog, high child asthma rates, CO2 emissions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... EVs are less polluting even if the electricity comes from coal fired power plants. Furthermore, the emissions of coal fired power plants can be controlled and regulated in ways not possible for vehicles, as the number power plants is miniscule compared to the number of gas powered vehicles. The car companies also argued that they would not be able to technically and financially meet the requirements of the ZEV Mandate. Car and oil companies joined the Federal Government to sue the State of California and overturn the ZEV Mandate. Federal Government and oil companies put forward hydrogen fuel cells as a better alternative to gas and battery electric cars. In contrast, interviews with two hydrogen experts gave details why fuel cell vehicles are not likely to be available for another 15 20 years if ever, whereas battery electric technology is available now, has been rapidly improving since the mid 1990s and is cost effective. In 1999, having won some initial concessions in the Mandate, US automakers started shutting down their EV programs. GM bought the rights to manufacture the Hummer, as they saw it would make them money. In 2002 the maximum Federal tax credit for an EV was $4000. In 2003 the same tax credit for a 6000+ lbs vehicle was $100,000. Of course, many members of the US Federal Government Bush Administration were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
