Positive And Negative Aspects Of Globalization
Like most things in the world, globalization is neither completely good or completely bad.
Globalization can be both a beneficial and destructive force to the world. The largest impacts of
globalization are seen economically, environmentally, and socially. By examining globalization in
these ways, one can see that globalization is not inherently positive or negative. Economically theories
like those describing free trade, perpetuate the globalization of the world. Due to theories like
comparative advantage, free trade is considered by most economists to be beneficial in the long term
for everyone. With globalization countries specialize into products in which they have a comparative
advantage in trading. This leads to more efficiency creating more goods and cheaper prices.
Overspecialization, however, can be problematic. Countries need to have some diversity in their
economy in case of crises ruining their major industry. Poorer nations in a globalized world also tend
to specialize in natural resources, and richer nations with more human capital specialize in production.
This is seen by some to be a new form of economic colonialism, where poor nations are forced to sell
resources cheap and buy expensive manufactured goods. With free trade, consumers buy the most
inexpensive goods, while the producers find the least expensive labour force to hire. This often leads
to companies hiring workers who are given little rights and low wages. Sometimes cheap labour
entails child workers and slave labour. This issue can be solved to an extent with more knowledge
about where products come from. The United States government publishes a list of companies who
use child or slave labour, this often creates backlash to the company; which can encourage changing to
more ethical labour sources. With trade there can also be a phenomenon called leapfrogging. This is
when countries are able to develop using products of higher technology than previously used. A great
example of leapfrogging that has been advantageous is the use of the cell phone in developing nations.
A cell phone allows more participation in the global economy with a connection to the rest of the
planet. This can improve the national output greatly and give

Carey Price Case Study
Can Carey Price repeat?
MONTREAL, QC Winner of four trophies at the NHL awards and a gold medal at the 2014 Winter
Olympics, Carey Price has had a dream year. All that s missing is a Stanley Cup ring.
For that to happen, it will need more than a perfect year from Carey Price. The team in front of him, in
this case, the Montreal Canadiens, will have to perform well. In the 2014 2015 season, there were
times in the season that Carey Price kept the team afloat. There were moments where his defense wasn
t as solid as it should have been and Price showed hockey fans why he was the season s most valuable
player.
Now, the question is...can he repeat such an incredible year?
I personally fully expect Carey Price to have a very good season, ... Show more content on

Firstly, the long term addition of Jeff Petry, who looked like a top pairing defenseman in last playoffs,
will certainly bring an element of stability to this Montreal defense. Petry has signed a 6 year deal
with the Canadiens and at the age of 27, this deal takes him through his prime years.
Secondly, the addition of Petry also allows Markov and Subban to play a bit less hockey in a lenghty
season, which will allow the two most relied on defensemen to have a bit more energy throughout the
season and into the playoffs.
Finally, the Montreal defense is improved in the sense that it is as deep as it ever has been. General
manager Marc Bergevin has definitely put emphasis on defensemen this off season. The signings of
Joel Hanley, Ryan Johnston, Mark Barberio and the drafting of Noah Juulsen and Simon Bourque
demonstrates this focus.
Out of this list, I am intrigued by defenseman Mark Barberio, a Montreal native. He is a quick skater
for his big frame and has excellent vision offensively. He has been able to put up a lot of points in his
junior career with the Moncton Wildcats (168 points in 261 games) and in the AHL with the Syracuse
Crunch (134 points in 215 games). He hasn t been able to bring that production to the NHL level, but
at 25 years old, he remains an interesting depth

Domestic Abuse And Domestic Violence Essay
Every year in the United States there are over 3 million incidents of domestic violence. That means
that every nine seconds a women is beaten by her domestic partner (Findeley). There are many women
that stay silent when being abuse by their partners. The consequences of staying quiet when obtaining
abuse can be dangerous and can also lead to death. Many women do not recognize the importance of
the fact that there is in speaking out if they are being abuse by their partner. No woman should take
domestic abuse by their partners. Every woman deserves a healthy relationship; A healthy relationship
involves trust, respect, and consideration for the other person. Domestic abuse has gotten worse during
the past years and is still rising up. One can see that domestic abuse can occur everywhere. Domestic
abuse is considered a crime and woman should not keep silent when being abuse. Abuse can have
many different meanings, there is one in particular that takes control in many Americans relationship,
physical maltreatment (Abuse). Sadly there is an increasing amount of young adults going through an
abusive relationship or were in one. Many of the people that become abusers consider violence as a
normal behavior because they have witnessed it on a daily basis. They than begin to mistreat everyone
that comes in his or her way. An abuser is frequently interested in controlling their victims. An abuser

Essay on Colonization of Pennsylvanis by William Penn
Religious tolerance, freedom, fame, and fortune. These advantages and many others are what awaited
anyone who boarded a ship and sailed across the Atlantic to America. For many rich and clergy men it
was easy. They could be on their way with no questions asked. The first ship to America did not even
have one woman. Nevertheless, once they got a taste of the western world, there was no stopping. In
1493 Spain led the popular discovery of America when Columbus first settled in the New World.
While England s first colony was Jamestown, established over 100 years later in 1607. After the
settlement of Plymouth, in 1620 America s eastern sea board soon became over crowded. Establishing

Penn had hoped that Pennsylvania would be a profitable venture for himself and his family. Penn
marketed the colony throughout Europe in various languages and, as a result, settlers flocked to
Pennsylvania. Despite Pennsylvania s rapid growth and diversity, the colony never turned a profit for
Penn or his family. In fact, Penn would later be imprisoned in England for debt and, at the time of his
death in 1718, he was penniless. From 1682 to 1684 Penn was, himself, in the Province of
Pennsylvania. After the building plans for Philadelphia had been completed, and Penn s political ideas
had been put into a workable form, Penn explored the interior. He befriended the local Indians, and
ensured that they were paid fairly for their lands. Penn even learned several different Indian dialects in
order to communicate in negotiations without interpreters. The freedom of religion in Pennsylvania
brought not only freedom to English, Welsh, German and Dutch Quakers to the colony, but also
Huguenots, Mennonites, Amish, and Lutherans from Catholic German states. In 1677, a group of
prominent Quakers, among them Penn, received the colonial province of West New Jersey. That same
year, two hundred settlers from the towns of Chorleywood and Rickmansworth in Hertfordshire and
other towns in nearby Buckinghamshire arrived, and founded the town of Burlington. Penn, who was
involved in the project but himself remained in England, drafted a

Creating Robots for a Universal Purpos
There are over 8.6 million robots in the world that have been created for a universal purpose. That
purpose is to improve human life. They do this in many different ways like for example; Robots are
used in the Auto Industry to help build automobiles on assembly lines. It takes around twenty four
hours on average to build a new automobile in a factory with the help of these robots. Without the
machinery that is being used on these assembly lines it could take anywhere from three days to a week
to build one automobile. That would also affect the price of said automobile and make it harder to
purchase automobiles. Robots help improve many more functions in everyday life. The purpose of this
project is to prove that robots improve upon human life and that the robots should be used more often.
The first robot was hand built in between four hundred and three hundred fifty B.C. The inventor of
the robot was mathematician Archytas. The robot functioned as a steam powered pigeon. The robot
actually worked and at one point flew two hundred meters before it ran out of steam and landed on the
ground. The robot was not very helpful. But it at the time was a great sign of what was to come in the
future. The latest robots to be created are unrecognizable compared to this very first model.
Robots are used every day in countries across the world in assembly lines. An assembly line is a series
of workers and machines in a factory by which a succession of identical items is progressively

As globalization continues to spread over the world, many countries are beginning to feel its effects.
One example is the auto industry. The automobile business is evolving rapidly on a worldwide basis.
Car and parts manufacturers are merging, component design and manufacture are now frequently
outsourced instead of being created in house, brands are changing and the giant automobile companies
are expanding deeper into providing financial services to car buyers. Meanwhile, all of the biggest,
most successful automobile industry firms have become totally global in nature. Globalization is in

The telecommunications industry in India has experienced dramatic growth in the last decade. In 1991

The Mood Of My Papa s Waltz By Theodore Roethke
Theodore Roethke s poem, My Papa s Waltz , is subject to the interpretation of the reader. One may
choose to see waltz as a recollection of a beautiful moment in time. Another interpretation has a much
darker tone as one could choose to see the violence within the movement of the waltz and not the
beauty for which it is known. Thus, one may interpret the poem as a fond memory of a father as told
by his son, the author. However, the poem could also be viewed as a revelation of a complicated
relationship between a father and a son. With that said, the first set of lines The whiskey on your
breath / Could make a small boy dizzy (lines 1 2) reveal the fact that his father may have been an
alcoholic or was at least drunk during the waltz. The fact that the author chose to blend something as
elegant as a waltz with something so violent as an intoxicated individual is indicative of the author s
clever use of words. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the line You beat time on my head (13) the beat has a musical denotation of the father tapping the
rhythm of the waltz on the son s head. On the other hand, an abusive connotation is present as well
with a possibility of the father inflicting blows upon his son s head. Roethke proceeds to continue his
trend of ambiguity in the final lines of the poem which state Then waltzed me off to bed / Still
clinging to your shirt. In this the reader can still find the positive and negative interpretations
coexisting within the lines. In a positive sense the reader can view these lines as showing the love that
the speaker has for his father, but in a negative sense the reader can view these lines as showing the
speaker literally clinging on to the shirt while begging for the abuse to stop. Even though dark
meanings were woven into the lines of each stanza it wasn t able to overcome the overall lighthearted
and buoyant vibe of the poem as a

To A Mouse Allusion
Human beings and animals are both equal because we breathe the same air, walk the same land, and
whether you re an animal or a man your plans are prone to be thrown of track. In the short classic
novel Of Mice and Men the author John Steinbeck tells the story of two friends, Lennie Small and
George Milton. They are migrant ranch workers who move around California in search of jobs in
order to achieve their dream. Their dream is to own their own piece of land. Yet due to Lennie s
disability, he gets into big trouble and their dream is demolished. George is a smart man who is Lennie
s guardian and best friend. Lennie is a very strong man but he has an unknown mental disability.
Lennie has the urge to feel soft objects but anytime he does they die. Due to this Steinbeck brilliantly
foreshadows the death of Lennie. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Introduction Of Assembly Line Balancing
1. Introduction
Assembly line balancing (ALB) issue was initially presented by Bryton and the principal exploratory
study was distributed by Salveson. The mechanical production system adjusting issue comprises of
appointing undertakings to a requested grouping of stations such that the priority relations among the
errands are fulfilled and some execution measure is enhanced. Because of computational many sided
quality of the issue (ALB) is known not a NP difficult issue. The issue is NP hard, since a unique
variant of the issue, the one including no priority relations among assignments is a receptacle pressing

specialists. The ideal looking for calculations must be utilized to assess the execution of the heuristic

Lately, numerous makers have embraced just in time (JIT) way to deal with assembling, finding that it

So why do they occur so often? They occur because people realize that they do not want to have a
child for a number of different reasons from an inability to afford one to the potential change it causes
to the female body. Nonetheless, the decision is not made because of the fear of the mother losing her
life or any of the predominant explanations for the occurrence of abortions. At the root of the
occurrence of so many abortions is the inability of individuals in society to take responsibility for their
actions. Bearing children is the natural result of sexual intercourse under favorable conditions, it is not
forced upon women by the United States government. I am forced to wonder: If a woman has a history
of bad decisions which cause her an unwanted pregnancy, why should our society trust her to take the
welfare of the child into account and trust her not make the abortion decision? Still, though it is clear
that women have made choices that put them in the position of being pregnant, it is worthwhile to

Global Position Sparks the Space Race
Ever since man has been observing their surroundings, there has been a desire to go to the far reaches
of our earth and out of our earth. Global Positioning Systems, or GPS, has allowed an easier way for
people to know where the user is on our earth and to know that we put something into space.
The space race sparked the knowledge that we could put a human object into space. The Russians
were the first to do so in 1957 with their satellite, Sputnik. The Navy followed suit when they used a
navigation system in 1960, which was called the TRANSIT system that consisted of five satellites,
telling you your position once every hour. The Cold War sprung the military interest to fund the multi
billion dollar research of GPS to create a faster, more accurate global positioning system. Since the
two pieces of data that GPS satellites send are time and location, it was very important for them to
have a very accurate sense of time. In 1967, an atomic clock was entered into space to help satellites
track time accurately. In 1972, a receiver was created to use satellite navigation systems. With this, all
other global positioning system devices are based upon. A year later, the US military got together and
focused on a strong plan to create a very accurate and robust global positioning system. The first GPS
satellite type was identified as a Block I. It was successfully launched in 1978 and was designed to last
five years. In 1983 a Korean airliner flight 007 veered off course

Misrepresentation and Domination of Woman in Strindberg s Miss Julie This paper examines
misrepresentation and domination of women in August Strindberg s play Miss Julie. In this play
Strindberg presents his misogynist attitude by presenting Julie as a degenerated man hating half
woman that indicates he holds a firmly conservative position regarding the role of women in society
that makes one s superiority over another. Julie s free thinking and sexually aggressive behavior
positions her in the new women category that raises the feminist voice against patriarchy. And the fact
that these actions lead towards her destruction clearly indicates Strindberg s opposition to liberal
feminism. Despite of all rebellious activities of Julie she becomes the victim of male domination.
Feminism is a complaint against patriarchy that refuses the cultural definition of women which
attempts to fix women s identity within the male dominated canon. It breaks the social bondage of
patriarchy. Feminists believe that masculine and feminine roles are constructed by society. As

Beowulf Women
An In Depth Study of the Women of Beowulf
In a translation of a poem or novel the true intention behind the author s words can be lost or
misunderstood. The poem Beowulf, translated by Seamus Heaney is a great example of this. Heaney s
translation suggested the role of women was limited to procreation or partnership (Sarmiento, 2012),
whereas the women in Beowulf are seen playing three major roles: monster, peacemaker, and hostess
(Rubie, 2014) and with those roles they gave a new perspective to the heroic theme of the book.
The first role is the monster. This role is carried out solely by Grendel s mother. A monster is a person

Taking a Look at the Bitcoin
Problem Overview
Since the creation of Bitcoin in 2009, cryptocurrencies have gained an increasing amount of media
attention. Ever since Bitcoin first began trading, investors as well as miners have proclaimed the
positive and negative aspects of the virtual currency, though the fluctuation in price of Bitcoin has
been very difficult to determine. This research paper look analyzes some of the issues that must be
addressed to ensure the future of Bitcoin.
Introduction
The first form of cyptocurrency, Bitcoins are the first type of digital currency that is both created and
subsequently managed by cryptography, rather than a central authority (Kinsella 2013). The Bitcoin
architecture was outlined in a research paper by Satoshi Nakamoto, which led to the creation of a
decentralized network, allowing the peer to peer digital currency to be owned and traded (Smith
2013). After several years of development, Bitcoin was launched in 2009, and exists solely within the
Block Chain (explained later).
Creation of Bitcoins
The architecture of Bitcoin utilizes a validation system, based on a sequence of recent transactions and
numerical proofs of work, which are passed through an SHA 256 hashing algorithm (twice) (Smith
2013). The result of this is a block , which follows very precise mathematical criteria, and requires an
exact numerical to solve. These required numericals are extremely difficult to calculate. This

Each block has a varying level of difficulty, in order for

due to farms being too small in size or the soils were unfertile. Farming productivity also decreased
because the peasant manufacturers ended up neglecting their farms since manufacturing was

merchants. Rural manufacturing made minimal demands for fixed capital since no special industry

Synovus Servant Leadership
Synovus Financial Corporation is known for taking care of their people, both employees and
customers, an idea that began with the company s original leadership and has been passed down for
generations. The culture of Synovus and doing the right thing extends into every aspect, both inward
and outward, of the organization and everyone they come into contact with, making everyone aware
that they are performing meaningful work and working for a higher purpose (Hess Cameron, 2006.)
These values, modeled throughout the organization are said to be contagious, as employees are valued
for themselves and not the values they bring in (Hess Cameron, 2006.) Organizations that are built and
operate with a sense of purpose, truly motivating their employees (Birkinshaw, Foss, Lindenberg,
2014.) Purpose, in itself transcends making money, and allows people to come together and to do
something that they believe in, and to take a broader view and influence their efforts towards common

sharing decision making powers with others (Schwantes, 2015.) These examples of servant leadership
elevate both leaders and followers morally and ethically (Sendjaya, Sarros, Santora, 2008.) When
leadership takes this approach, many decisions become more obvious, and to an extent easier to make.
While leadership sets these goals or standards that may seem unreasonable to others, once they are
established, they become not just the standard way of operating, but for many the standard way of
living. These servant leaders also demonstrate that they put their followers first, organizations second,
and themselves last in their careers (Sendjaya et al.

Henequen Wheat Complex Analysis
Walking along the aisles of a local home improvement store or even farm, many would not think or
even be aware of twine s vast history in shaping the world around us. However, to a historian much is
known about this commodity and its relation to the henequen wheat complex as well as its effects on
sustainability, economics, and society in both North America and Mexico as described in Sterling
Evan s novel, Bound in Twine. Not only did the henequen wheat complex itself play a significant role
in influencing many aspects within the two regions, but it had numerous benefits and disadvantages
that ultimately changed the history and lives of many affected by its development, particularly those in
Yucatan.

With the increased desire to produce larger amounts on henequen in the Yucatan to support its
monocrop economy, the complex consequently permanently altered the landscape and overall
environment of the state. As mentioned previously, prior to the development of the henequen complex,
the area could be described as a varied landscape on the remarkably flat Yucatan terrain. However, the
Yucatan later bear more resemblance to a patchwork of haciendas, so much so that with the boom in
henequen at the end of the century, haciendas and even the much venerated cattle ranches were
converted to plantations. Thus, the henequen wheat complex played a significant role in permanently
transforming the once diverse ecosystem of the Yucatan into a uniform landscape solely dedicated to
the harvesting of one crop, the henequen. In addition to these environmental alterations, this complex
as well as the established monocrop economy introduced deforestation and subsequent erosion that
would ultimately cause the ecological improvishment of the henequen zone in which it was
economically benefiting from. However, to others the henequen wheat complex can be considered a
sustainable model since after the severe decline of henequen production following the 1980 s, Yucatan
experienced much ecological improvement. Remarkably,

Through the prologue of the Wife of Bath, we learned that Dame Allison knows how to manipulate
men with their ideals, in the prologue, she explained her ideals about man, and woman relationship,
also, she used some characters from the bible and scriptures to prove her different point of view in her
arguments. The same does the ugly wife in her tale when she is convincing he husband about loving
her without carrying the fact that she is ugly and poor. For example, the ugly wife explained to her

such as health issues, personal characteristics, motivation to learn, behaviour, sensory impairment,
disability and learning difficulties. Even before birth a child needs to reach many milestones and
however small or large they can cause a delay in a child s development and in many cases are

A child with learning problems may be many developmental years behind their peers, this will have a
big impact on what they can do in all areas of development including physical skills, social skills and
intellectual skills. They may find it especially hard to interact with children of the same age or stay
interested in conversation. They may also need to have one to one lessons at school to help educate
them as they may not be at the same cognitive stage as peers. This may leave them feeling left out.

Gender Representation Of Female Gender Roles Affect...
Despite what seems to be positive empowerment of females alike, Mulan in fact does not encourage
the individual empowerment of women through separation of traditional gender stereotypes. In fact,
Mulan emphasizes the roles between binary genders that ensure privilege of men over women.
Additionally, the film shows how such stereotypical gender roles affect society through social
oppression of the minority group. Throughout the film, it is obvious that, although it is possible to
have gender performativity, there is disempowerment of women and a man s life is that which is more
significant than a woman s. For the duration of the movie, the idea of masculinity is emphasized and
its ideas are reinforced. Notably, when Shang, the captain of the army, sings the song I ll Make a Man
out of You (Wilder et al., 1998a), the portrayal of the stereotypical representation of masculinity is
obvious. The lyrics Did they send me daughters, when I asked for sons? further points to the notion
that there is only one gender that is worthy and appropriate to fight (1998). Additionally, the captain s
main goal is to make a man out of each member in the army. The assertion is that femininity is not
acceptable; the womanly recruits have been transformed into real men in order to competently fight
the war. Towbin et al., supports this notion in that men and boys are portrayed as rescuers who save
the day (2004). Although the film appears to be supporting feminist ideals as

Thomas Hobbes And The Constitutional Struggle
Thomas Hobbes was born April 5, 1588 in Malmesbery. His father left the family in 1604 and never
returned. Hobbes was then raised and educated by the support of his uncle. His younger years of
education were received through local schools while his college education in the classics was received
from Magdalen Hall, University of Oxford.
After he received his education, Thomas Hobbes became the tutor of William Cavendish in 1608. Two
years after becoming his tutor, Cavendish and Hobbes travelled to Europe together visiting Germany,
France, and Italy. After Cavendish died in 1628, Hobbes obtained another position within the

Hobbes believed that without a social contract people would come to live in a state of nature. Meaning
that there would be no common way of life and people would live in fear of one another. Without the
social contract there would be no authority to set up any laws. People would behave in anarchy and
chaos. Society would only act on what benefit themselves instead of each other as a whole. This kind
of society would only result in an upright war between the people living among each other. Hobbes
perceived the ideal society in his best known piece of work, Leviathan, publish at the end of his exile
in 1651. Throughout four books, the Leviathan argues that civil peace and social unity are best
accomplished by establishment of common wealth through a social contract.
In the Leviathan, Hobbes s ideal common wealth is ruled by a sovereign power that is granted
absolute authority in order to ensure their responsibility of protecting the common wealth. In his
books, Thomas Hobbes portrays the common wealth as a gigantic human, whose form is built out of
the bodies of citizens. The sovereign power is considered the head because it is what controls the
citizens. Hobbes calls this figure the Leviathan , named after a monstrous sea creature that appears in
the Bible. His piece

Child Labor Policy Essay
Introduction Since the beginning of time, child labor has been a very complex issue in the United
States. Child labor refers to work that impedes children s access to education and is harmful to their
physical, mental, moral, developmental, and social well being (Schmitz, Traver, Larson, Pieris, 2004,
p. 1). Exploitation from cruel to harmful is considered and reported as child labor. A child is a person
under eighteen years of age, according to the Rights of the Child convention of 1989 (Schmitz et al.,
2004). As the history of child labor evolved throughout the years, policies and rules have been created
to protect children from abuse. The manifestation varies widely in impact depending on the conditions

In order to meet labor shortage in 1619, American masters recruited poor British children to work
along with American children. The children were badly treated and well worn. By the time young girls
were eight years of age, they were employed to work in the textile factories as well as cloth
manufactures. Spinning schools were created for poor children to develop an education. By the 1700
s, colonists believed that the labor that children were providing was good for them (Greene, 1002).
According to Greene (1992), the governor of New York stated, every home swarms with children who
are set to spin and card (p. 19). As technology advanced, many manufactures became wealthy but the
competition made others worry and tried to slow down the growth of other manufactures. The
divergence of the industrialization caused the American Revolution (Greene, 1992). Due to the lack of
knowledge of what was going on in the rest of the world, American accepted child labor. Although the
children were treated a lot better compared to other countries, and young girls were not out loading
and dragging coal and working in mines. Child labor was thought of as helping keep parents out of
public charity, kept down production cost, and made the nation competitive. Citizens of America also
thought that children would benefit morally by giving them temperament, dependability, and thrift.
During this time, bible reading was extremely

Dads have these powers too, not just moms some would say. most mothers find gaps only they can
close. (Foerstner 18). Single mothers have everything on them, finding ways to paying the bills, to
being able to spend time with their kids. Every single day is a struggle for them because they re all so
tired of everything in the world but still continue to push through their day for the little people who
count on her the most. Queen Penelope was stuck in a situation where the suitors were trying to court
her every single day for 20 years straight. But she managed to get through all of this because she had
hope in Telemachus to find his dad, her husband. And although Telemachus never saw his dad ever, he
still did this search for him because he wanted his mom to happy. Single mothers get recognition of
being a why not single dads. Your self worth is so low that you don t know how you re going to help
your kids, (Foerstner 9). Dads don t get recognition like moms do, because dads didn t birth the baby,
he left the mom alone to raise the kid that they made together. Maybe if women in society were as
equal to men then, yeah maybe someone will give recognition to single fathers for Mother s day.
Single moms get insecure, they don t know how they got into this mess, Queen Penelope didn t know
she would get left alone with a child for 20 years. Nobody could predict the future, it will always

Slacks and Calluses, presents the summer of 1943 from the perspective of Constance Bowman and

they faced included an unjust work place and harassment. Women who wore skirts and rings on their

The truth was though that the two women in skirts who got on at the same time we did were always

factories for war production. The fact that we were building bombers seemed a dubious contribution to
the war effort to the people who knew about it. (p.83). The book went on to say how Clara Marie s
father worried about the girl s work being checked by men for accuracy, as if they were not capable of
doing good work by their selves. There was a great deal of men who hated the fact that school teachers

Growth Of The Asset Management Industry
In the present epoch s market driven yet economically fragile world corporations and companies of all
extents and hues have multifaceted stakes to take care of while focusing on their core objectives.
Billions are spent by them every year to acquire, sustain, maintain, operate and later decommission
assets not only physical but also non physical assets. So asset management remains at the core of the
mission of many corporations whose top management keeps its focus on the acquisition of profitable
assets and for the optimally safe yet promising use of investments. The asset management industry has
seen a boom also due to the increasingly unpredictable economic conditions of the world so in order to
remain ahead of, or at least at par with their competitors, all businesses or corporations need to ensure
maximum possible returns on their assets. It is projected that by 2020 the asset management industry
would have $100 trillion global investable funds and would register an annual growth rate of as high
as 6% (PwC, 2014). This positive projection of growth of the asset management industry is due also to
the inroads of technology in the domain of asset management industry as to many other new factors or
game changers such as transformation of fee models, growing preeminence of asset management
functions, changing shares of the regional and global asset management firms, and an ever growing
demand for cost effective services. Ever since technology started spreading its tentacles

The Myth Of Epic Of Gilgamesh
Sam Khidir
History 10
Professor Chrissanthos
4 October, 2016
From Myth to Religion The Sumerian myth Epic of Gilgamesh is known to be the oldest written
fictional story of all time. The original script, discovered on 12 clay tablets in ancient Sumeria, covers
the adventures of a real historical figure (Ralph): the Sumarian King of Uruk, who lived sometime
between the years 2750 and 2500 B.C. (Epic) The adventures of Gilgamesh were so popular among
the people of that era (the earliest written versions of the story dating to 2000 B.C.) that after centuries
of being told and retold, they soon became pure fiction. These fictional stories, eventually becoming
beliefs that people lived by, brings up one fundamental question that is still debated by many scholars
today; was the foundation for the teachings of the Old Testament based on the mythical story of
Gilgamesh? The content of the epic, and that of the Old Testament, seem too similar to ignore. This
paper will attempt to touch on the similarities between the two stories regarding Noah and the flood,
Adam, Eve, and eternal life, Samson and Delilah, embracing today and not worrying about tomorrow,
disobedience to the God s and forgiveness, and the word Bible. First, a brief summary of the Epic of
Gilgamesh. Gilgamesh was a Sumerian king who ruled Uruk. As a demi god (part god and part
human), he is both strong and knowledgeable in all things. He rules Uruk with an iron fist, working

Chest To Glove Theory
Pitching mechanics are one of the most controversial and complex things in all of sports. In the
roughly 1.5 seconds that it takes for the pitcher to deliver a pitch, the pitcher uses almost every muscle
in his body in a variety of ways. That is what makes it so difficult and also why it is so important that
it is done correctly. There are many different ways of throwing a ball sixty feet six inches. Two of the
main ones are chest to glove, and gloveside disconnect. The chest to glove theory is exactly what it
sounds like, the pitcher tries to bring his chest to his glove in hopes of getting a further release point.
Gloveside disconnect is a little bit more tricky. With this method the pitcher either points his glove
towards the catcher or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of these negatives is that pitchers can lose lots of trunk rotation by trying to bring chest to glove.
A quote that supports this is by focusing too much on getting your glove out and bringing your chest
forward you often tend to block yourself off (The Importance of Good Glove Arm Action). Blocking
off means that the pitcher is not fully able to get over their front foot and is unable to follow through
correctly . This causes them to lose trunk rotation which is a very important part of high velocity
pitching mechanics (How to efficiently change pitching mechanics). While this seems to contradict
that the chest to glove method gives more angular trunk velocity, the two are actually different. The
difference is that angular trunk velocity is the speed at which the trunk is moving while trunk rotation
is the amount of movement, not necessarily how fast it is going. Another negative is that chest to
glove can lead to no follow through. The less trunk rotation there is, the less a pitcher is going to be
able to follow through, which is vital to deceleration. Proper deceleration is also extremely important
to injury prevention. No follow through will often lead to throwing pitches high, which is not good.
Not following through leads to a further back release point. The further back their release point the
more likely it becomes that the ball will fly out early. These are the negatives of the chest to glove

Analysis Of A Small Place By Jamaica Kincaid
Antigua is a small island that was discovered in 1493, by Christopher Columbus. The natives that
lived there were made slaves by the British and the economy thrived on producing sugar. In 1834 the
British abolished slavery giving Antigua its independence. The sugar industry was failing so the
economy relied on tourism. A Small Place by Jamaica Kincaid is about Antigua. Kincaid narrates her
novel in second person, blaming the tourists for ruining the culture of Antigua. Kincaid explains that
the British were cruel to the Antiguan people but she forgives them for it. Kincaid also talked about
how the Government is currently corrupt and how beautiful Antigua s land is. Kincaids novel is
broken up into four parts that address all of these issues in Antigua. The way A Small Place by Jamaica
Kincaid was written is effective in the way that it tries to persuade and inform the readers.
In part one of A Small Place, Kincaid tries to persuade the readers, she does this by talking directly to
them. Kincaid says that the tourists ruin the culture and that they are not justified in coming to Antigua
for a vacation. Kincaid thinks that tourism is ugly, an ugly thing, that is what you are when you
become a tourist (Kincaid 17). Kincaid is trying to persuade the reader instead of informing them with
a fact or observation. This direct use of second person is successful to persuade the reader. It is
successful because the reader might feel guilty for traveling and might change his or her perspective
on traveling.
In part four of A Small Place, Kincaid tries to persuade the reader. Kincaid tries to make the reader
think that Antiguas beauty is unreal. Kincaid also instead of informing you with facts or observations
talks about how the British should be punished for enslaving Antiguans and says in her opinion why
they did it. Kincaid wants the reader to feel that Europeans are truly unhappy, to satisfy their desire for
wealth and power, to feel better about their own miserable existence, so that they could be less lonely
and empty a European disease (Kincaid 80). This use of persuasion successfully makes you think
about human nature. It makes the reader think of why people would enslave others for money and
power.

  • 2. Positive And Negative Aspects Of Globalization Like most things in the world, globalization is neither completely good or completely bad. Globalization can be both a beneficial and destructive force to the world. The largest impacts of globalization are seen economically, environmentally, and socially. By examining globalization in these ways, one can see that globalization is not inherently positive or negative. Economically theories like those describing free trade, perpetuate the globalization of the world. Due to theories like comparative advantage, free trade is considered by most economists to be beneficial in the long term for everyone. With globalization countries specialize into products in which they have a comparative advantage in trading. This leads to more efficiency creating more goods and cheaper prices. Overspecialization, however, can be problematic. Countries need to have some diversity in their economy in case of crises ruining their major industry. Poorer nations in a globalized world also tend to specialize in natural resources, and richer nations with more human capital specialize in production. This is seen by some to be a new form of economic colonialism, where poor nations are forced to sell resources cheap and buy expensive manufactured goods. With free trade, consumers buy the most inexpensive goods, while the producers find the least expensive labour force to hire. This often leads to companies hiring workers who are given little rights and low wages. Sometimes cheap labour entails child workers and slave labour. This issue can be solved to an extent with more knowledge about where products come from. The United States government publishes a list of companies who use child or slave labour, this often creates backlash to the company; which can encourage changing to more ethical labour sources. With trade there can also be a phenomenon called leapfrogging. This is when countries are able to develop using products of higher technology than previously used. A great example of leapfrogging that has been advantageous is the use of the cell phone in developing nations. A cell phone allows more participation in the global economy with a connection to the rest of the planet. This can improve the national output greatly and give ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Carey Price Case Study Can Carey Price repeat? MONTREAL, QC Winner of four trophies at the NHL awards and a gold medal at the 2014 Winter Olympics, Carey Price has had a dream year. All that s missing is a Stanley Cup ring. For that to happen, it will need more than a perfect year from Carey Price. The team in front of him, in this case, the Montreal Canadiens, will have to perform well. In the 2014 2015 season, there were times in the season that Carey Price kept the team afloat. There were moments where his defense wasn t as solid as it should have been and Price showed hockey fans why he was the season s most valuable player. Now, the question is...can he repeat such an incredible year? I personally fully expect Carey Price to have a very good season, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Firstly, the long term addition of Jeff Petry, who looked like a top pairing defenseman in last playoffs, will certainly bring an element of stability to this Montreal defense. Petry has signed a 6 year deal with the Canadiens and at the age of 27, this deal takes him through his prime years. Secondly, the addition of Petry also allows Markov and Subban to play a bit less hockey in a lenghty season, which will allow the two most relied on defensemen to have a bit more energy throughout the season and into the playoffs. Finally, the Montreal defense is improved in the sense that it is as deep as it ever has been. General manager Marc Bergevin has definitely put emphasis on defensemen this off season. The signings of Joel Hanley, Ryan Johnston, Mark Barberio and the drafting of Noah Juulsen and Simon Bourque demonstrates this focus. Out of this list, I am intrigued by defenseman Mark Barberio, a Montreal native. He is a quick skater for his big frame and has excellent vision offensively. He has been able to put up a lot of points in his junior career with the Moncton Wildcats (168 points in 261 games) and in the AHL with the Syracuse Crunch (134 points in 215 games). He hasn t been able to bring that production to the NHL level, but at 25 years old, he remains an interesting depth ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Essay on Colonization of Pennsylvanis by William Penn Religious tolerance, freedom, fame, and fortune. These advantages and many others are what awaited anyone who boarded a ship and sailed across the Atlantic to America. For many rich and clergy men it was easy. They could be on their way with no questions asked. The first ship to America did not even have one woman. Nevertheless, once they got a taste of the western world, there was no stopping. In 1493 Spain led the popular discovery of America when Columbus first settled in the New World. While England s first colony was Jamestown, established over 100 years later in 1607. After the settlement of Plymouth, in 1620 America s eastern sea board soon became over crowded. Establishing the first thirteen colonies was no easy task. In Foner s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Penn had hoped that Pennsylvania would be a profitable venture for himself and his family. Penn marketed the colony throughout Europe in various languages and, as a result, settlers flocked to Pennsylvania. Despite Pennsylvania s rapid growth and diversity, the colony never turned a profit for Penn or his family. In fact, Penn would later be imprisoned in England for debt and, at the time of his death in 1718, he was penniless. From 1682 to 1684 Penn was, himself, in the Province of Pennsylvania. After the building plans for Philadelphia had been completed, and Penn s political ideas had been put into a workable form, Penn explored the interior. He befriended the local Indians, and ensured that they were paid fairly for their lands. Penn even learned several different Indian dialects in order to communicate in negotiations without interpreters. The freedom of religion in Pennsylvania brought not only freedom to English, Welsh, German and Dutch Quakers to the colony, but also Huguenots, Mennonites, Amish, and Lutherans from Catholic German states. In 1677, a group of prominent Quakers, among them Penn, received the colonial province of West New Jersey. That same year, two hundred settlers from the towns of Chorleywood and Rickmansworth in Hertfordshire and other towns in nearby Buckinghamshire arrived, and founded the town of Burlington. • 6. Creating Robots for a Universal Purpos There are over 8.6 million robots in the world that have been created for a universal purpose. That purpose is to improve human life. They do this in many different ways like for example; Robots are used in the Auto Industry to help build automobiles on assembly lines. It takes around twenty four hours on average to build a new automobile in a factory with the help of these robots. Without the machinery that is being used on these assembly lines it could take anywhere from three days to a week to build one automobile. That would also affect the price of said automobile and make it harder to purchase automobiles. Robots help improve many more functions in everyday life. The purpose of this project is to prove that robots improve upon human life and that the robots should be used more often. The first robot was hand built in between four hundred and three hundred fifty B.C. The inventor of the robot was mathematician Archytas. The robot functioned as a steam powered pigeon. The robot actually worked and at one point flew two hundred meters before it ran out of steam and landed on the ground. The robot was not very helpful. But it at the time was a great sign of what was to come in the future. The latest robots to be created are unrecognizable compared to this very first model. Robots are used every day in countries across the world in assembly lines. An assembly line is a series of workers and machines in a factory by which a succession of identical items is progressively ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The automobile business is evolving rapidly on a worldwide basis. Car and parts manufacturers are merging, component design and manufacture are now frequently outsourced instead of being created in house, brands are changing and the giant automobile companies are expanding deeper into providing financial services to car buyers. Meanwhile, all of the biggest, most successful automobile industry firms have become totally global in nature. Globalization is in evidence throughout the automobile industry. The telecommunications industry in India has experienced dramatic growth in the last decade. In 1991 the number of telephone lines per 100 people was only 1. However, by the end of 2004 that number had increased 9 times. Along with this, the telecom industry now provides employment to about two million people. The industry turnover in this field expanding and is currently around $13 billion. The U.S. mainly participates by selling equipment to Indian companies and by investing in such companies. They also outsource many of thier tech support employment positions to India. India s information technology and IT enabled services industry is a major force in India s booming economy, achieving double digit growth rates and an industry revenue expected to top $28 billion. To add to this growth, the Executive Committee on Information Technology works closely with NASSCOM, India s largest software association to promote industry wide growth and market regulation. On another technological path, the broadcasting entertainment industry is yet another booming industry among those that make up India s economy. With over 100 million household televisions, and nearly 60% of these households using cable or satellite TV, there are nearly 40,000 cable service providers in India. • 8. The Mood Of My Papa s Waltz By Theodore Roethke Theodore Roethke s poem, My Papa s Waltz , is subject to the interpretation of the reader. One may choose to see waltz as a recollection of a beautiful moment in time. Another interpretation has a much darker tone as one could choose to see the violence within the movement of the waltz and not the beauty for which it is known. Thus, one may interpret the poem as a fond memory of a father as told by his son, the author. However, the poem could also be viewed as a revelation of a complicated relationship between a father and a son. With that said, the first set of lines The whiskey on your breath / Could make a small boy dizzy (lines 1 2) reveal the fact that his father may have been an alcoholic or was at least drunk during the waltz. The fact that the author chose to blend something as elegant as a waltz with something so violent as an intoxicated individual is indicative of the author s clever use of words. The ... Roethke proceeds to continue his trend of ambiguity in the final lines of the poem which state Then waltzed me off to bed / Still clinging to your shirt. Global Positioning Systems, or GPS, has allowed an easier way for people to know where the user is on our earth and to know that we put something into space. The space race sparked the knowledge that we could put a human object into space. The Russians were the first to do so in 1957 with their satellite, Sputnik. The Navy followed suit when they used a navigation system in 1960, which was called the TRANSIT system that consisted of five satellites, telling you your position once every hour. The Cold War sprung the military interest to fund the multi billion dollar research of GPS to create a faster, more accurate global positioning system. Since the two pieces of data that GPS satellites send are time and location, it was very important for them to have a very accurate sense of time. In 1967, an atomic clock was entered into space to help satellites track time accurately. In 1972, a receiver was created to use satellite navigation systems. With this, all other global positioning system devices are based upon. A year later, the US military got together and focused on a strong plan to create a very accurate and robust global positioning system. The first GPS satellite type was identified as a Block I. Despite what seems to be positive empowerment of females alike, Mulan in fact does not encourage the individual empowerment of women through separation of traditional gender stereotypes. In fact, Mulan emphasizes the roles between binary genders that ensure privilege of men over women. Additionally, the film shows how such stereotypical gender roles affect society through social oppression of the minority group. Throughout the film, it is obvious that, although it is possible to have gender performativity, there is disempowerment of women and a man s life is that which is more significant than a woman s. For the duration of the movie, the idea of masculinity is emphasized and its ideas are reinforced. Notably, when Shang, the captain of the army, sings the song I ll Make a Man out of You (Wilder et al., 1998a), the portrayal of the stereotypical representation of masculinity is obvious. The lyrics Did they send me daughters, when I asked for sons? further points to the notion that there is only one gender that is worthy and appropriate to fight (1998). Spinning schools were created for poor children to develop an education. By the 1700 s, colonists believed that the labor that children were providing was good for them (Greene, 1002). According to Greene (1992), the governor of New York stated, every home swarms with children who are set to spin and card (p. 19). As technology advanced, many manufactures became wealthy but the competition made others worry and tried to slow down the growth of other manufactures. The divergence of the industrialization caused the American Revolution (Greene, 1992). Due to the lack of knowledge of what was going on in the rest of the world, American accepted child labor. Although the children were treated a lot better compared to other countries, and young girls were not out loading and dragging coal and working in mines. Child labor was thought of as helping keep parents out of public charity, kept down production cost, and made the nation competitive. Citizens of America also thought that children would benefit morally by giving them temperament, dependability, and thrift. During this time, bible reading was extremely ... Single mothers have always gotten stuck in a situation especially with boys. The boys grow up and want to do sports, whereas the mother has no experience at all with sports. Just like how in The Odyssey by Homer, Queen Penelope had a son she had to raise alone for 18 years while Odysseus was off at war. Raising a kid as both a mother and father figure has it hard on the single mothers trying to get their kids to have a normal life. Maybe having a single mom is better than having a mom and dad. Every single day is a struggle for them because they re all so tired of everything in the world but still continue to push through their day for the little people who count on her the most. Queen Penelope was stuck in a situation where the suitors were trying to court her every single day for 20 years straight. But she managed to get through all of this because she had hope in Telemachus to find his dad, her husband. And although Telemachus never saw his dad ever, he still did this search for him because he wanted his mom to happy. Single mothers get recognition of being a why not single dads. Your self worth is so low that you don t know how you re going to help your kids, (Foerstner 9). Dads don t get recognition like moms do, because dads didn t birth the baby, he left the mom alone to raise the kid that they made together. Maybe if women in society were as equal to men then, yeah maybe someone will give recognition to single fathers for Mother s day. • 33. Essay On Slacks And Calluses Slacks and Calluses, presents the summer of 1943 from the perspective of Constance Bowman and Clara Marie Allen, two school teachers, who set aside summer vacation to help with war efforts in a bomber factory. Coming into the air craft industry, they had no idea what to expect, We were the kind of girls who knew nothing about airplanes except that they had wings and they fly. (p.1). Obstacles they faced included an unjust work place and harassment. Women who wore skirts and rings on their fingers received a greater amount of respect from men, than those who wore slacks and calluses on their fingers. It was as if the men did not appreciate their good deeds to the country. Slacks and Calluses does a great job in depicting how the country did not embrace the idea of women in factories for war production. The fact that we were building bombers seemed a dubious contribution to the war effort to the people who knew about it. (p.83). The book went on to say how Clara Marie s father worried about the girl s work being checked by men for accuracy, as if they were not capable of doing good work by their selves. There was a great deal of men who hated the fact that school teachers were working in the factories, they felt as though school teachers were helpless. Although all the women were not fond of working in the factories, Constance Bowman and Clara Marie worked their out of a sense of patriotism. They loved the fact that they were putting aside summer vacation in order to help out with war efforts. In fact, Constance and Clara stated, The dollars that we made this summer were not many, anybody who thought we had been motivated by anything but patriotism in its purest form could just look at our pay checks. • 37. The Myth Of Epic Of Gilgamesh Sam Khidir History 10 Professor Chrissanthos 4 October, 2016 From Myth to Religion The Sumerian myth Epic of Gilgamesh is known to be the oldest written fictional story of all time. The original script, discovered on 12 clay tablets in ancient Sumeria, covers the adventures of a real historical figure (Ralph): the Sumarian King of Uruk, who lived sometime between the years 2750 and 2500 B.C. (Epic) The adventures of Gilgamesh were so popular among the people of that era (the earliest written versions of the story dating to 2000 B.C.) that after centuries of being told and retold, they soon became pure fiction. These fictional stories, eventually becoming beliefs that people lived by, brings up one fundamental question that is still debated by many scholars today; was the foundation for the teachings of the Old Testament based on the mythical story of Gilgamesh? The content of the epic, and that of the Old Testament, seem too similar to ignore. This paper will attempt to touch on the similarities between the two stories regarding Noah and the flood, Adam, Eve, and eternal life, Samson and Delilah, embracing today and not worrying about tomorrow, disobedience to the God s and forgiveness, and the word Bible. First, a brief summary of the Epic of Gilgamesh. Gilgamesh was a Sumerian king who ruled Uruk. As a demi god (part god and part human), he is both strong and knowledgeable in all things. • 38. Chest To Glove Theory Pitching mechanics are one of the most controversial and complex things in all of sports. In the roughly 1.5 seconds that it takes for the pitcher to deliver a pitch, the pitcher uses almost every muscle in his body in a variety of ways. That is what makes it so difficult and also why it is so important that it is done correctly. There are many different ways of throwing a ball sixty feet six inches. Two of the main ones are chest to glove, and gloveside disconnect. The chest to glove theory is exactly what it sounds like, the pitcher tries to bring his chest to his glove in hopes of getting a further release point. Gloveside disconnect is a little bit more tricky. With this method the pitcher either points his glove towards the catcher or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of these negatives is that pitchers can lose lots of trunk rotation by trying to bring chest to glove. A quote that supports this is by focusing too much on getting your glove out and bringing your chest forward you often tend to block yourself off (The Importance of Good Glove Arm Action). Blocking off means that the pitcher is not fully able to get over their front foot and is unable to follow through correctly . This causes them to lose trunk rotation which is a very important part of high velocity pitching mechanics (How to efficiently change pitching mechanics). While this seems to contradict that the chest to glove method gives more angular trunk velocity, the two are actually different. The difference is that angular trunk velocity is the speed at which the trunk is moving while trunk rotation is the amount of movement, not necessarily how fast it is going. Another negative is that chest to glove can lead to no follow through. The less trunk rotation there is, the less a pitcher is going to be able to follow through, which is vital to deceleration. Proper deceleration is also extremely important to injury prevention. No follow through will often lead to throwing pitches high, which is not good. Not following through leads to a further back release point. The further back their release point the more likely it becomes that the ball will fly out early. These are the negatives of the chest to glove ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Analysis Of A Small Place By Jamaica Kincaid Antigua is a small island that was discovered in 1493, by Christopher Columbus. The natives that lived there were made slaves by the British and the economy thrived on producing sugar. In 1834 the British abolished slavery giving Antigua its independence. The sugar industry was failing so the economy relied on tourism. A Small Place by Jamaica Kincaid is about Antigua. Kincaid narrates her novel in second person, blaming the tourists for ruining the culture of Antigua. Kincaid explains that the British were cruel to the Antiguan people but she forgives them for it. Kincaid also talked about how the Government is currently corrupt and how beautiful Antigua s land is. Kincaids novel is broken up into four parts that address all of these issues in Antigua. The way A Small Place by Jamaica Kincaid was written is effective in the way that it tries to persuade and inform the readers. In part one of A Small Place, Kincaid tries to persuade the readers, she does this by talking directly to them. Kincaid says that the tourists ruin the culture and that they are not justified in coming to Antigua for a vacation. Kincaid thinks that tourism is ugly, an ugly thing, that is what you are when you become a tourist (Kincaid 17). Kincaid is trying to persuade the reader instead of informing them with a fact or observation. This direct use of second person is successful to persuade the reader. It is successful because the reader might feel guilty for traveling and might change his or her perspective on traveling. In part four of A Small Place, Kincaid tries to persuade the reader. Kincaid tries to make the reader think that Antiguas beauty is unreal. Kincaid also instead of informing you with facts or observations talks about how the British should be punished for enslaving Antiguans and says in her opinion why they did it. Kincaid wants the reader to feel that Europeans are truly unhappy, to satisfy their desire for wealth and power, to feel better about their own miserable existence, so that they could be less lonely and empty a European disease (Kincaid 80). This use of persuasion successfully makes you think about human nature. It makes the reader think of why people would enslave others for money and power. In part ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
