The Portrait Of Edward Hopper
Edward Hopper was a quiet person but his art speaks louder that his words. His paintings are
famous because they are mysterious and his scenes don t seem to be complete. His paintings
leave the viewer with questions which makes his painting even more interesting. Hopper started
sketching and drawing at a very young age. Hopper has struggled throughout his career but in
the end, he s made it to where he is now. When Hopper was young he loved anything to do with
art. He was extremely excited when he got a blackboard one Christmas. He loved how he could
draw anything, erase it, and draw a brand new picture. When he became older he had a pencil and
paper everywhere he went. He loved to observe people but he watched them in a natural habitat...

He also visited Belgium, England, Germany, and France. He even stayed with a french family
when he was in Paris. When he wasn t traveling over to Europe he lived in an apartment in
Greenwich which he moved into in 1913. Hopper lived here for the rest of his life. He hated
having to work and paint for other businesses but that s what he had to do to keep his apartment.
Luckily for him, he was 43 years old when he had enough money to quit the job and focus on his
paintings more. Most artists don t immediately get recognized and in Hopper s case, the first
painting he ever sold was in 1911. The painting was call Sailing and it sold for $250 or $4300 in
today s money. It was also exhibited at the famous Armory Show. The Armory show introduced
American Art World to a new kind of experimental art of Europe. Getting an invitation to this
exhibit was a great honor. So this was a pretty big deal for him. Sadly, after Sailing he didn t sell
another painting for years. He did, however, continue to work as an illustrator even though he
didn t like it. Later, he traveled to Monhegan, Maine and met Josephine Verstille Nivison. She
was a former student of his who studied under Henri as well. The two had been friends for quite
a few years and then they got New York on July 9, 1924. They were in fact opposites of each
other Josephine or Jo was more outgoing and spoke her thoughts, while Hopper was more soft
spoken, quiet, and polite. Sometimes talking with Eddie is

On May 30, 2005, Natalee Holloway disappeared while on a high school graduation trip to
Aruba. She was a student at Mountain Brook High School, honor student and a member of the
National Honors Society. Dedicated to her education, she received a full paid scholarship to the
University of Alabama, where she was set to peruse a medical degree. She excelled in every
extracurricular activity that she was involved in, including her schools dance squad. Holloway

Edward Holloway and Elizabeth Ann Reynolds. She was the first born of two children. In 1993
her parents had their differences and divorced. In 2000 Elizabeth remarried to George Jug

Civil War Vs Confederacy Essay
In 1861 the United States witnessed a division within itself. As a result a war, better known as the
Civil war, broke out due to the South s declaration for their independence. In the beginning of the
Civil war, President Lincoln s main goal was to preserve the union. Although many assumed the
Civil war s primary goal was to abolish slavery, that simply wasn t the case. The Union and the
Confederacy both wanted to preserve a way of life. The difference between the Union and the
confederacy, and what ultimately started the Civil war, was that both sides wanted to preserve life
differently. These differences brought many changes throughout the war, and along those changes
came many consequences.
The Confederacy s goal was independence. They wanted to gain independence from the ... Show

In the Civil war the North defeated the south, and as a result the Confederates were devastated.
One of the consequences of the civil war was the amount of life that was taken during this time.
The destruction of life and property were enormous. The south had many consequences as a
result of the civil war. The confederates suffered economically by the civil war. Because most of
the fighting was done in the south, a lot of the land was ruined. As a result the south had to
rebuild. There was a lot of physical damage done to the region. Most of the best agricultural land
were destroyed. Many major cities, like Richmond were destroyed, and farm values diminished.
The Confederates believed the Union had limited their constitutional rights to make their own
political, social and economic decision. To them the real issue was liberty not slavery. Both the
North and the South had slaves, but by the end of the war many slaves were freed and a minority
of slaves in the south fled to the union. African Americans weren t allowed to enlists in neither
armies, but as the war went on the union admitted black soldiers, but at a lower pay than the whites.

Cupcake Stands
Making a cupcake stand by yourself is not hard at all. They can be made from cardboard, plastic,
metal, or glass. Cardboard DIY cupcakes stands are probably the easiest and quickest to make so
that is the style we will use for this example. First, you must decide how many tiers you want for
your cupcakestand and decide what shape you would like them to be. Stands with circular tiers
are very common so we will use that as an example. Building your stand with, say, five tiers will
require five different size cardboard circles, with the largest circle at the base of the cupcake stand
and the smallest circle at the top. It s important to know that each tiers base should be small enough
compared to the next tier lower to allow the cupcakes enough room to sit on the ledge without their
tops being squashed by the next tier higher. Two inches should be sufficient, making each
succeeding tier four total inches smaller.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mark the undersides by centering you are straight edge on each tier and lightly scribe two
perpendicular lines, now measure two inches away from the center of the tier in each direction.
Mark these spots and measure 1/2 inch further. Mark these spots as well; the space in between
these two spots, once cut out, will serve as the stabilizing points for the braces of the tiers which
will fit snugly into these locations. Follow this step again to make eight stabilizing points in each
tier. Smaller top tiers may only require for bracing

Cushing s Disease In Dogs
When a dog has too much Cortisol in their body (usually in their adrenal glands), it can result in
them getting Cushing s disease. It is the most common hormone related disease in dogs. There are
other causes of this disease in dogs like taking medicine with Cortisol in it for a long period of
time or having a tumor in the adrenal gland. However, the main cause of this disease in dogs is
their bodies producing too much Cortisol.
Most of the dogs that get Cushing s disease are over eight years old. The dog breeds that are more
likely to get this disease are Boxers, Dachshunds, Poodles, and Terriers. It is also more prevalent in
female dogs.

Canine Life Expectancy With Cushing s Disease
The canine Cushing disease life expectancy depends on where the disease originated. If it started
in the adrenal gland, the life expectancy of canines with Cushings Disease is usually about three
years. If the dog has a pituitary gland issue, then they can be expected to live about two years. The
younger a dog is when their Cushing disease is diagnosed, the better their canine Cushing disease
life expectancy will be.
Other health problems, like diabetes and infections, can reduce the life expectancy of canines
with Cushings Disease. Other health problems like tumors that spread from the pituitary gland
into the brain or blood clots in the lungs can also appear not long after a dog starts treatment for
this disease. When health problems like these arise, the owner of the dog must decide whether it is
a good idea to put their dog to sleep or

Girl Scouts Life Lessons
When I was in the second grade every girl was in the Girl Scouts my sisters and my friends. There
were girls that would soon be my friends; I would meet them through my involvement in scouting.
Over the years of being first a Brownie, then a Junior, Cadette, Senior, and now Ambassador, I have
developed essential leadershipskills and self confidence. Through my 10 year long journey of
being a Girl Scout, I have organized and executed various events for other Girl Scouts and the
community. I have led meetings, undertook the highest awards in the organization, and written and
performed in plays designed to help younger scouts understand serious issues, such as body image,
bullying, and environmentalism. From my earliest days as a teeny Brownie, I... Show more content

Not only did I grasp how to work with others, but I also began to have a better respect for
property and people. Leave the place better than you found it, the leaders were always shouting
over the sound of giggling girls. Another saying which was constantly penetrating my ears was
be a sister to every Girl Scout. This is actually a portion of the Girl Scout Law, but our leaders
always made sure to enforce in us the idea to not just be a sister to other scouts, but to everyone
we met, a rule is one that I still carry around with me today. When I earned my Bronze Award at
age 11 I was forced to do something unfamiliar, and I had to organize, cook, and serve a spaghetti

The apostles are the twelve followers that Jesus selected early on in his ministry. They were
chosen to spread the Gospel after the death of Jesus Christ. These men were ordinary people that
God used in marvelous ways. These men called us to follow Jesus Christ. After the Death of
Jesus the spread the word of God to places as far as Rome. These men were a crucial part in the
spreading of Christianity. When Jesuswas alive they were called the twelve disciples because
disciple means follower. After Jesus death the twelve disciples were referred to as the twelve

These men were Simon who Jesus named Peter, Andrew, James, John, Philip, Bartholomew,
Matthew, Thomas, James the son of Alpheus, Simon, Judas and Judas Iscariot. Simon Peter was
from Bethsaida and he was one of Jesus first disciples. St. Peter was also the first Pope of the
Roman Catholic Church. Andrew was Peter s brother and he was crucified on an X shaped

When Jesus met Saint Matthew he changed his name from Levi to Matthew which, means gift of
Yahweh. After meeting Jesus Matthew hosted a dinner at his house for Jesus and some of his
fellow tax collectors. In Matthew s ministry he would work with Saint Thomas. When people
heard of this they wondered why Jesus would eat with sinners and Jesus answered Those who are

Reflection Paper On Group Interaction
REFLECTION PAPER
Identified Experience
The group member I identified most with was Andrew in the first program. I identified with
Andrew because he stated he felt like an outsider at times. He felt that it was easier to talk with
men than women. However, in my case, I feel as though it is easier to talk with women than men
in a group. Overall, I feel hesitant to share because most of my group participation has been with
practically strangers. Like the video, I believe it is difficult to talk out loud about personal
issues. Talking out loud about issues that may cause anxiety has been a problem for me
personally for many years. However, after dialoguing with others within groups, I tend to become
more comfortable talking and opening up. In the first program, as the group members began to
talk in the first segment, there was a difference in the ability to relate to each other. I believe the
dyads influenced open up and talking out loud. Working in pairs facilitates member interaction
because talking to one person seems less threatening than addressing the entire group (p. 18). At
the beginning of the sessions the group leaders asked each member to look around the room to
gain a feel of the group members. The purpose of assessing the tone of the room will create an
awareness of everyone in the room. Also, everyone introduced themselves by saying their names.
During the early part of the group interactions, Andrew identified with James as feeling like an
outsider. I believe at this time was the beginning if Andrew doing the work. The group leader
asked Andrew can he relate to anyone else in the group. Nobody knows what it feels like to be
the other person. The only way to express how I feel would be to realize within discussion and
verbalize my feelings. We do not assume that we know what being an outsider means to Andrew
or James, nor do we know what feeling stupid is like for Jacqueline, so we ask all three of them
to note and verbalize when they become aware of these feelings (p. 17). Throughout this session
each members were encouraged to talk out loud to verbalized related issues. I believe the entire
session is a process of doing the work. As I watched the video of the first

Modernization and Dependency Theory
Modernization and Dependency theory
Nowadays the rapid development of the word and the growing integration of countries can hardly
fail to affect the development of new theories which attempt to explain the relationship between
countries and the existing inequality between developed countries and countries of the third world.
In this respect, it is possible to refer to Modernization theory and Dependency theory which, being
quite different, still have certain similarities in their views on the modern world and relationships
between developed and developing countries.
It is worthy of mention that the comparison of these theories will help better understand the current
trends in international relations and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, differences between Modernization theory and Dependency theory result from the origin of
Dependency theory which, as it has been already mentioned above, was developed in response to
Modernization theory. On analyzing existing differences between the two theories, first of all, it is
necessary to underline that Modernization theory views the development of the world and
relationships between developed and developing countries as the relationships of potentially equal
countries which are just at a different stage of development at the moment. To put it more
precisely, Modernization theory stands on the ground that western countries are well developed
and western way of development is viewed as the most successful and perspective while there is
practically no other alternatives to this way of the development. This is why the supporters of this
theory insist on the necessity to develop the cooperation between developed and developing
countries in order to make the latter closer to the former. What is meant here is the fact that
Modernization theory underlines the necessity of borrowing the experience of western countries by
developing countries of the Third world (Scott 196). Basically, developing countries should follow
blindly the example of more developed western countries and this will bring them economic, social,

A Positive Performance Analysis
Three positive things about my performance I thought were my calming voice, reflection on topic
of discussion and body gestures. Throughout my presentation I thought that my voice was
reassuring to listen to and not over enthusiastic. I think that throughout my intake interview it was
important for me to think of myself of being in the position of talking normally to a friend and I
think that showed through my performance. In contrast, during my conversation with my friend
Sarah, I asked her questionsin regards to how her disorder has impacted her leisure lifestyle, what
activities she likes to do and what activities she would like to try doing throughout her sessions. I
listened to her as she gave her responses and I thought that I did well at asking her further questions
and confronting certain topics to betterunderstand her point of view. I then reflect off that by
reiterating what she had previously said, but stated it in a different way. I thought this was
beneficial because I overall felt more comfortable asking her more questions, which lead to a
deeper conversation. Lastly, I thought my non verbal skills were relaxed, I remained engaged
throughout the conversation with eye contact and the distance between us was at a comfortable
place. Generally, I feel like I had a positive performance because I have done a similar
interviewing project in the past and I think that I was naturally able to have a conversation. Open

The Skin Of Reptiles Are Most Affected By Global Warming
The skin of amphibians is tremendously thin, as a result of this frogs are extremely sensitive to any
subtle changes in the climate. In particular these are temperature, humidity, water quality and
airborne diseases this makes them acutely vulnerable to catching these diseases and fungal
infections.
Unlike reptiles or birds, which have hard shelled eggs, amphibians have jelly like, unshelled eggs
that cannot survive desiccation. Amphibians need moist climates to reproduce, and this makes
them extremely sensitive to climate change. Frogs in high mountainous areas are most affected by
global warming. The climate change debate always seems to focus on the potential harm that may
happen in the future if we don t act now. We need to make sure... Show more content on

Tadpoles are very slow growing creatures and cannot begin breeding themselves until four years
later. This restrictive breeding pattern makes it difficult for frogs to reproduce efficiently with many
disturbances being fire, flood water, droughts and disease frequently interfering.
Frogs breeding phenology is being directly affected by enhanced climate change as they are highly
susceptible to rising temperatures. Most species of frogs remain inactive during the winter months
and unbearable summers. Although once the temperatures increase the species surface from
hibernation and immediately search for ponds and rivers to begin breeding. Females only breed
once a year, and the process from a tadpole to a frog can take anywhere between 20 days and 2
years depending on the species of the frog and the surrounding conditions. If the conditions are
not right, metamorphosis can be held back until the conditions are correct. However if these
conditions are never improved a tadpole can be stopped from developing any further. With the
effects from enhanced global warming, the conditions occurring are becoming less and less to the
suitable frogs, and there are less good breeding season occurring every year as a result of the
transforming climate. As a result of this the numbers of frogs in our ecosystems are rapidly
decreasing.

The Origins Of Piracy In The 17th Century
The origins of modern piracy can be traced back to the 17th century when European states began
to commercially compete for trade routes via the high seas to exploit new markets for trade and
resources. At the time oceans, lacked any regulation, law, and order. Countries such as England,
France, and Spain hired pirate groups to attack enemy ships and steal materials that were found
on board. This time period is often referred to as the Golden Age of Piracy, however, piracy
continues to occur even today. In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the number
of attacks on vessels by pirates, particularly in the Gulf of Aden, Somali Basin and the Indian

The Kosovo Albanian War drips with International Relations theory. Steeped lavishly with
interactions, mostly violent unfortunately, there is ample breeding ground for one s crop of theory.
With societal rifts of anguish, for each side unable to appease the other, the land slipped into an

the UN, institutions that made a firm stand in Kosovo, and even the whispered declaration of war.
Theory provokes the profound understanding of engagement, with the Kosovo Albanian Conflict

criticisms. The United States and Western allies acted to demonstrate their power over and to
control their spheres of influence.
Anarchy, the third principle demarcated by the Oxford Handbook of International Relations,
establishes that the absence of an international government provides feeding ground for self help to
accumulate (Oxford, 133). Though NATO and the UN act as international interventionists, they are
not an international government, and as much as the United States to assert itself as an
international policeman, it does not step its foot into every state s affairs. Without an
international government in place, the Kosovo Albanian Conflict was able to happen. Self help
for all parties was an inevitable aspect of the bloodshed. Kosovars and Serbians alike felt like they
were dying and killing for a cause they believed in.
Power Politics divide international relations into control and resources. These facets allow politics
to turn into a dance of power and security. Exhibited as the fourth principle, Power Politics are
ever present in most international affairs. States try to secure themselves from others, and in doing
so, try to exert power (Oxford, 133) . Power

Health Insurance History
History of Health Insurance in the United States Health insurance has a long and extensive history
in the United States. The history or beginning of health insurance can be traced back to the Great
Depression in the 1930s. The Depression affected several indigenous hospitals in the United States.
In order to ensure adequate payment for medical services during the Great Depression, hospitals and
physicians had to establish and implement different types of insurance. The health insurancewas
also meant to cover different types of injuries and sicknesses at work environments. In the same
period (Great Depression), managed care and conventional insurance were also brought into
existence. Managed care was later developed in the 1980s.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Also in the 1980s, the private health insurance sector witnessed drastic changes while the
Prepaid group practice plans (now generally known as HMOs) started enrolling more members
on the plan. In addition, the period also witnessed the development of point of service (POS) and
the preferred provider organizations (PPOs). One of the major events in the 1980s as regards to
the history of health insurance in the United States was the enlargement of Medicaid and
Medicare for the benefit of pregnant women and children. The major highlight of this event was
when Congress made the decision to expand (also known as SOBRA expansions) the Medicaid
coverage to pregnant women and children with total income classified below 133% of the federal
poverty level. The expansion also meant that Medicare now includes prescription drug

Inner Circle Matters
How are you training the people around you to be water carriers? My first thought is that your
inner circle matters. One can look at my leadership and see a considerable amount of time has
been placed in making sure the right people are influencing my most inner thoughts and beliefs.
For example, the criterion that governs my inner circle is simple, they have to be smarter, faster,
and more like Jesus than I am. As I have begun to place people like this in my inner circle (some
call this their board of directors) I see the value of carrying both buckets. I am keenly aware that
one must calm situations that are out of control and sometimes dump gasoline on those that need a
fire under them. Once we are able to identify this person we must... Show more content on

This is one of my sweet spots (Scott Fay) to coach people rather than mentor people. I believe I
wrote in a post in an earlier week that people already have the answers, all I have to do is ask the
right questions and the answer will come from them. We must take into account in people s
development that space is needed to discover their potential. In mentoring we tell people how to
either pour water on an inflamed event or gasoline. I am not much of the teller, I do not think
people (me specifically) respond much to being told what to do, if we were in a traditional
classroom and the Professor asked us would you rather be told what to do, or would you rather
discover what you should do, each person would pick discovery. There is something about
discovering the right element to use in any given scenario. It was once said there is no better
teacher than learning from others mistakes, (John C Maxwell) however, there is nothing like
reflection on your own experiences. Another area to familiarize yourself with is how is the

Women s Roles Over Time
From silent short films of the 19th century to full length films of the 1920s, women have played
important central roles over time. Women have transitioned from submissive conservative roles to
liberal something. A big part of this is due to the view of women changing in history.
The 1800s was a time of, advancement, invention and enterprise in the world of moving images.
Thomas Edison, with the help of his assistants, created and patented the Kinetograph and
Kinetoscope in 1891. These tools later created series of still frames that passed at a continuous
rate. Because of the defect persistence of vision, the average person views a moving image. By
1894, attempts [by Lumiere Brothers] were made to replicate and improve Edison s Kinetoscope
design.
During the mid 1800s, a true woman understood her limitations. This included, modesty,
submissiveness, physical weakness, limited education, and complete devotion to [their] husband.
Any actions that threatened these norms had to be put to a stop. During the late 1800s, there
appeared to be advancements in education and movements for women s rights. Women were
challenging the norms to become more independent. Many women did not want change for the
consequences to come. But as soon as the film industry started, women culture began to reflect
roles of main actresses.
In 1984, a dancer named Carmencita was the first female to be in an Edison motion picture.
Carmencita presents a 21 second dance which was later forbidden to

The Fight for Racial Equality In North Carolina Essay
Plessy vs. Ferguson was a landmark decision passed in 1896 that instituted the practice of separate

segregation which greatly lessened the rights of all minorities especially in public education. The

Why Should We Vote To Vote Essay
Different factors can determine how a person could vote such as religion, but this doesn t mean
that person with a factor will always vote that way. There are other things to consider as well, but
According to scientists, they have concluded from research that this is how the majority of the
group votes.
There are several religions in United States since we have freedom of religion such as Protestants,
Roman Catholics, and Jewish. Mainline Protestants are Presbyterians and Methodists which they

they have been adopting modern views such as bible verses should be interpreted in today s

extreme and unreasonable in nature. When the term Islamophobia was first used in a 1991
Runnymede Trust Report, it was taken to mean the unfounded hostility towards Muslims, and
therefore, fear or dislike of all or most Muslims (Center for Race Gender n.d.). This was first used
within the situation of Muslim existence in the U.K. and Europe. However, we find in that
hostility is the primary element for this phobia and it appears to be bigger in weight over the
actual fear itself. It is aimed at a group of people foreign to one s own. Finally, Islamophobia is
unique because its considered as unfounded fear, there are some reasons that propose that
Islamophobia has evolved into a racist phenomenon.

The next revolution in car production took place not in the United States but in Japan. A change in
management thinking occurred there when Ohno Taiichi, a Toyota production engineer, pioneered
the development of lean manufacturing in the 1960s after touring the US plants of the Big Three
car companies. The management philosophy behind lean manufacturing is to continuously п¬Ѓnd
methods to improve the efficiency of the production process in order to reduce costs, increase
quality, and reduce car assembly time. In lean manufacturing, workers work on a moving
production line, but they are organized into small teams, each of which is responsible for a
particular phase of car assembly, such as installing the car s transmission or electrical wiring
system. Each team member is expected to learn all the tasks of all members of his or her team,
and each work group is charged with the responsibility not only to assemble cars but also to
continuously п¬Ѓnd ways to increase quality and reduce costs. By 1970, Japanese managers had
applied the new lean production system so efficiently that they were producing higher quality
cars at lower prices than their US counterparts, and by 1980 Japanese companies were dominating
the global car market. To compete with the Japanese, managers at the Big Three car makers visited
Japan to learn lean production methods. In recent years, Chrysler Canada has been the North
American model for speed in automobile production. Chrysler s Windsor, Ontario

Driverless Cars In The Future
In the United States, driver error is the primary factor to blame for automobile deaths. According
to the National Safety Council, in 2015, over thirty eight thousand people died in car crashes.
On average, that is 194 people killed a day. It is unacceptable to lose so many lives each year to
this tragedy. Unfortunately, society has accepted this as the price of convenient transportation.
However, there is an alternative. In recent years, the feasibility of affordable driverless cars is
becoming a reality. The pace of current progress points to a future where driverless cars will
replace humans at the wheel. Corporations like Google and Tesla are road testing autonomous
vehicles. Google s driverless cars have completed over 2 million miles of autonomous driving on

Computers are already trusted to keep our cars from slipping and prevent wheels from locking

As the industry advances, driverless cars will revolutionize life and make travel safer. Drunk
driving can be eliminated as computers can take over for intoxicated humans. Elderly people
will be able to move about as they please, without special assistance. As these systems become
more advanced, and reliable, productivity will increase as less time is spent in traffic jams.
According to USA Today, deaths from car accidents cost society nearly 900 billion a year. As

finished packing my bags, and finally I got ready to leave. My grandma came and picked me up

motor home and ready to go. We loaded the rest of the bags into the motor home and then we
were on our way. After a long 5 hour drive (that I slept during most of) we made it to our
destination. Once, we arrived at the Myrtle Beach State ParkCampground we parked and hooked
up the electricity and water to the motor home. When we arrived my aunt and uncle were already

On September 9, 1993 a seventeen year old boy, Christopher Simmons, and a few of his friends
met up to discuss and devise a plan to commit a robbery and possibly even a murder, just for the
sake of fun. Simmons plan was not complicated: find someone to burglarize, tie up the victim
and either leave the victim tied to a tree or push them off a bridge. Simmons and his accomplice
climbed through a window and proceeded into the bedroom of the victim, Mrs. Cook. The two
teenagers tied the woman up and loaded her into the back of her own minivan. They drove to the

The police were not protected from being a homicide victim even though capital punishment was on
their side and supposedly protecting them. (Bailey, Peterson) According to statistics gathered
from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the areas of the country that had a lower enforcement
of capital punishment were actually a place where the police officers were safer than in the
regions where the capital punishment was heavily enforced. (Death Penalty in Focus) For
instance, the number of murders of an officer of the law in the southern states between the years
of 1989 and 1998 was an alarming two hundred and ninety two total deaths. Averaging the
number of murders over the ten year period, 29.2 police officers were killed each year, and this
was in a region where the death penalty was heavily enforced. (Death Penalty in Focus, Table 1.1)
On the other side of the pole, the states in the northeast region had as little as eighty murders in the
same time span, with an average of eight murders per year. These statistics definitely contradict that
the death penalty acts as deterrence for an act of murder. If deterrence is what is supposed to
validate capital punishment, but criminals are not intimidated by it, then maybe it does not protect
lives after all and it could be unconstitutional.

American Influence On Puritan Society
After the Protestant Reformation, a group practicing Puritanism left Great Britain to the
Netherlands for the ability to practice their religion freely. However, the Puritans did not favor the
idea of their children growing up outside of British influences despite having the privilege of
freedom of religion. In 1620, the first group of Puritan settlers sailed to North America aboard the
Mayflower. It wasn t until 1629 when John Winthrop delivered his city upon a hill sermon that
created a new perspective and goal for the growing Puritan society. Economic, political, and social
difficulties were faced, but religion stayed a constant center for the Puritan settlements. Both
failures and successes molded the Puritan settlement into what it was in the seventeenth century,
which leads into the influences left by the Puritans in today s society. Upon the ship Arabella, one
of nine ships that transferred Puritans to the New World, John Winthrop wrote his sermon titled A
Model of Christian Charity . He delivered this sermon to approximately nine hundred Puritans

Body Ritual Among The Nacirema By Miner
Effective communication has many aspects that can be described as either transparent or a hidden
unknown, which in many readings it describes how ambiguity is a necessary evil in
communications. The Triangle of Linguistic Structure can give phonology meaning form,
semantics the value of meaning, and pragmatics that feature the intention to uncertain
communications. The direct statements of saying someone is dead, can be harmful so they use
etiquette to give reason to use a buffer and instead say they have moved away. For a literary
example I will use Who am I this time? by Vonnegut and Body Ritual among the Nacirema by
Miner, for both readings use ambiguity to hide an allegory of communication concepts. The Body

The first theory is that the hacker group Anonymous became aware of a vulnerability inside of the

not taken into consideration that their secure network could become a vulnerability to their servers.

Student Veterans And Traditional Students
As the number of student veterans continues to increase within the university system, it is
imperative to examine both the similarities and the differences between student veterans and
traditional students (students without military experience), and what effect those differences may
have on student veterans ability to succeed. We surveyed thirty undergraduates at the Universityof
Alaska Anchorage, assessing their gradepoint average, age, hours spent studying, and various other
factors which we deemed our criteria for success . In doing so, we believed that we would find a
radical difference between the grade point average of student veterans compared to their traditional
counterparts. The data collected suggests that our hypothesis was correct: student veterans were a
letter grade behind their peers. This gap in achievement between the two groups suggests that
student veterans ability to adjust to life within the university system requires further examination.
As more veterans continue to seek higher education, it is essential that those within the university
system strive to understand, and alleviate some of the difficulties burdening this emerging
demographic.

Extended Definition Of Success
When it comes time to defining success there are plenty of ways that success can be put into a
definition. The main definition that I go by for the word success is that if you aren t doing a
career that makes you happy no matter what they pay grade is then you have not reach success.
The definition that I provided means that it doesn t always have to be about making a certain
wage but what you are doing in life it needs to be a career you are excited to do every morning.
You a person become successful or have successyou will see it in their face because they will be
more than happy to work at any time or even work over time, if they have too. Success is
something that, you, as a human have to have set in your mind, heart, and passion to know

How Is Paul Von Hindenburg A Hero
Paul Von Hindenburg was a renowned military and political leader for Germany; he is most
notable for being a distinguished Field Marshal for the Imperial German Army during WWI, and
being the second president of the Weimar republic. His military hero status was essential for his
ability to garner support from the German public. His monarchistic views were highly influential in
shaping the government while he was reigning as president, and as a result of his seat of
presidency, he was a major determining factor in the eventual fate of the republic. Born 1847, as

During and after the war, Hindenburg was seen as a national hero, and was considered to have
embodied all of the positive characteristics of the collective German people. While the appeal of
Hindenburg was present throughout all social classes, religions, and political view points, it was
the German right wing political groups which idolised Hindenburg the most; seeing him as a
portrayal of classic Prussian ethics, and Lutheran and Junker values. Despite this support for
Hindenburg personally at the home front, support for the war itself was dwindling, and after
General Ludendorf s failed spring offensive, the situation seemed hopeless for the German military.
With conditions on the home front worsening, and realising the dire situation Germany faced in the
war, on the 29th September 1918; General Hindenburg, General Ludendorf and the Kaiser Wilhelm
II agreed to establish a new democratic government in Germany to replace the current form of
government. In spite of this seeming like a victory for the democrats in Germany, it has been
argued that this was just an effort to deflect blame for the inevitable defeat at the hands of the allies
to left wing elements on the home front. As historian Douglas Newton states; The intentions of the
ruling elite... were quite transparent: ... to smother the prospect of a more thorough revolution from
below and to deflect responsibility for the military defeat on

Theme Of Ikemefuma In Okonkwo
In Things Fall Apart , as much as Okonkwo handles his family with a heavy hand, Okonkwo s
relationship with his children create a subsidizing factor in the inner conflict between Okonkwo s
reputation and his fatherly instincts. Okonkwo treats his two children, Nwoye and Ezinma
differently from his adoptive son Ikemefuna, opening a window to show the large differences the
three. Their Father and son relationship are different between Okonkwoand his own father, also
between Okonkwo and his children Nwoye, Enzima, and his adoptive son Ikemefuma Okonkwo, is

This is the last straw for Okonkwo, to whom ancestors and tribal traditions are very important to
him. He disowns his son as a result. This describes a father and son tension because Okonkwo
does not respect Nwoye decisions and expects him to be just like him. Okonkwo has a more
positive relationship with his adopted son, Ikemefuna, who is basically a hostage from another
tribe. No matter how hateful he was towards gentleness, Ikemefuna managed to be into the
likings of Okonkwo because he was by nature a very lively boy and he gradually became popular

feasts, he allowed Ikemefuna to accompany him, like a son, carrying his stool and his goatskin
bag. And indeed, Ikemefuna called him father (p. 28). This shows a father and son relationship
because all though Ikemefuma is not his son he is treated like one, Okonkwo begins to feel an
emotional fatherly affection to his adoptive son Ikemefuna. All though he is very stubborn and
does not like showing his emotions deep down he cares for his children including Ikemefuma.
Eventually Okonkwo s tribe decides to kill Ikemefuna Okonkwo is only told not to participate,
because Ikemefuna calls him father, and he is like a father to the boy. As the boy s back is turned,

Essay on The Second Industrial Revolution
By the time of the Civil War, the technologies upon which the First Industrial Revolution was based
were established in the United States. In the years following the war, the nation s industrial energies
were focused on completing the railroad and telegraph networks of the North, rebuilding those of
the South, and expanding those of the West. Once the devastating depression of the 1870 s
depleted, the stage was set for the Second Industrial Revolution.
New inventions came about to ease the production of goods that were being supplied. The creation
of factories emerged by retailers who were struggling to meet the requirements of the masses
surrounding them. The formation of power driven machinery was initiated in order to compete with

In the late 19 th century, many new immigrants came to America with hopes to escape religious
and political persecution, to find better employment opportunities, for more freedoms, and a
chance to start over again. The immigrant work force grew fast as the demand for factory labor
grew. These immigrants were important to industrialization in the United States. They were willing
to work in unsanitary work conditions for little pay. Because of this, American industries were
able to hire more of these types of workers. Although they were unskilled, the type of jobs they
were required to do were jobs that didn t demand much knowledge.
Workers during the Industrial Revolution had hoped for benefits, such as health, cleaner working
conditions, better pay, and less working hours. Industrial workers often felt overworked because
of the long, stressful hours placed upon them by their employers. Labor unions began to emerge
as a result of the long hours and awful working conditions. These workers were locked up all day
in factories that were eight stories high. They were given absolutely no relaxation until the heavy
engine stopped. After leaving work, they would go home to get refreshed for the next day. This left
these industrial workers with no time for association with their families.
Before the time of industrialization, the United States was an agrarian society. Most of the people
were Protestant, English speaking, Anglo Saxons from Northern and

Ukraine Essay
As the military conflict and increasing hostility between Russia and Ukraine continues, so will the
visible effects on the Ukrainian economy, which could result in extensive and long term changes in
Ukraine e energy sector and the country s energy policy. In light of growing pressures from the
European Union to maintain a normalised relationship with Gazprom, as well as the looming end
date of its gas supply contract with Russiain 2019, Ukraine s foreign policy must aim to re examine
this relationship, but also drive efforts for diversification and ensuring energy security in the long
run.
In a recent government statement, Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman stated that Ukraine is
aiming to finalise a reviewed energy strategy by the end of 2016 with the key objective of
achieving energy independence and a creation of an Energy Efficiency Fund. The Prime
Minister stressed that, given its resources, Ukraine, should not be an importer, but an exporter of
energy resources. However, Ukraine needs to examine the realities of its energy supply and
demand and how this will shape and affect the governments foreign policy towards the EU and
Russia going forward. Currently, Russia s gas supplies amount to over 69% of Ukraine s energy
demand. Since its independence, much of the country s foreign policy has generally been driven
by a need to strike a balance in her relationships with the East and West, but due to history and
geography, swell as various political forces, Ukraine

Racial Identity And Sexual Orientation
The statement racial identity and sexual orientation entrap and define us is limiting in that it
pidgeon holes a great variety of types into simplified categories. This essay will explore racial
identity and sexual orientation and exemplify meaning through the use of Joseph Conrad s Heart of
Darkness and Christos Tsiolkas Loaded. Although they hail from different times and cultures, the
characters Marlow and Ari display similarities in behaviours in as such they put themselves in
perilous situations and surround themselves with untrustworthy associates .
One reason why I do not agree with the statement racial identity and sexual orientation entrap and
define us is an individual s self image and circumstance. For example, Marlow lived in the days of
Imperialism. Instead of seeing themselves as interlopers in a new country the Europeans felt a
sense of entitlement. He does not relate to the stereotype and describes the men he works with as
[...] not much account really. They were no colonists; their administration was merely a squeeze,
and nothing more, I suspect. They were conquerors, and for that you only want brute force nothing
to boast of, when you have it, since your strength is just an accident arising from the weakness of
others (Conrad 10).
Marlow is a migrant to Africa; he is the other however it is the African s that are portrayed to the
reader as the other through Marlow s observations of the stations and river. Initially, Marlow s

The Stages Of Bereavement
Introduction
Understanding that the stages of bereavement varies from person to person is important, so one
does not feel they are grieving inappropriately. It is also important to have a general idea of what
one can expect when experiencing a loss. It seems that often people think that everyone should
only grieve for certain amount of times, or something is wrong with them, when in fact, no matter
the length of time, or degree, it is normal. In 1969, Elisabeth Kubler Ross created the stage
perspective, which discusses the five stages of bereavement and what each stage could entail. This
is so important in understanding the process of bereavement and the reason people act the way
they do when losing a loved one.

Despite the slight difference between the two words, bereavement and grief go together, and in this
paper, those terms will be interchanged. There are five stage of grief that I intend to discuss in
detail. Kubler Ross stage perspective held that dying people go through five stages of grieving:
denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and finally, acceptance. (Stroebe, 2017, p. 457). Denial is not
believing that it is happening. Anger could be at one s self, a higher power, or just the situation in
general. Bargaining is when one says if their situation goes away, they will change themselves. For
example, one might say if their illness is cured, they will never drink alcohol

Examples Of Hester Prynne Heroine
Nathaniel Hawthorne s The ScarIet Letter describes the heroine (Hester) in a different way than
most of the novels do. Unlike in other novel where heroine is easily identified right from the
beginning, Hester cannot be identified as a good character nor is she known for good reason
rather she is depicted as a criminal at the beginning of the novel. However I don t agree with the
statement that it is impossible to fully identify Hester Prynneas a heroine of The Scarlet Letter
because her decision to stay in the society where she was publically ashamed and imprisoned
makes her extraordinary and her courage to take the punishment and change the scarlet letter A
from adultery to able is remarkable act of strong woman and her honesty and compassion
differentiate her from other ordinary woman. Hester Prynne is a heroine of The Scarlet letter
because she has the courage to accept her imprudence. She understands that her action have led to
present situation as she lives in a Puritan community. Being a single mother, Hester is able to

is so kind to the poor, so helpful to the sick, so comforting to the afflicted! Hester becomes

Designing Tiffany Co.
LAUNCHING TIFFANY Co. IN NEW DELHI, INDIA
INTRODUCTION:
Tiffany Co. is one of the oldest luxury jewelry brands, which was established in the U.S. by
Charles Lewis Tiffany. The company when started was a stationery shop at New York s
Broadway Street, however because of the dedication and risk taking ability of its founder it today
become a leading luxury jewelry and high end specialty goods retailer. Tiffany s offers a wide
range of products to its customers including jewelry, watches, home pieces, stationery, crystal and
chinaware, fragrances and silver ware. This report focuses on launching this luxury jewelry brand
in New Delhi, India. The relation between Tiffany s and India wouldn t be new, it would rather
be connecting old ties and making a strong foundation for its future in the country. In the initial
years of launching the Brand the founder ventured into India in search of rare and ancient Indian
Bronze. So now the company can come back in order to rejuvenate its old relationship with
India. Apart from heritage reasons, it would also be highly profitable for them to venture out to
India as they have been facing losses in their home country. Also, the brand value of Tiffany s
product would be very high, it would become a status symbol to own a Tiffany s Product in India,
which is not only good for the goodwill of the company but also its profit.

Essay on Understanding Phonics
In the academic world reading is like breathing is to life; an absolutely necessary component not
only to succeed but to survive. To teach a child to read is to give them an opportunity to achieve
their potential and realize their dreams. As teachers we should not only strive to teach children to
read but more importantly we should ignite a passion inside of them so that each child wants to
read; craving books as if they were food (or video games). Unfortunately in any given group of
students a good percentage of them will struggle with reading. The best way to prevent a child from
falling behind is early identification and intervention, coupled with a comprehensive scientifically
based literacy program (Sousa, 2005). There are five... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A range of systematic programs have been designed such as synthetic phonics, analytic phonics,
analogy phonics, and phonics through spelling (DeGraff, Bosman, Hasselman Verhoeven, 2009).
Synthetic phonics teaches students to translate letters into sounds and blend the sounds to form
words (NRP, 2000). Analytic phonics teaches students to examine letter sound relationships in
words they already know to avoid saying sounds in isolation (NRP, 2000). Analogy Phonics teaches
students unfamiliar words by comparing unknown words to known words (NRP, 2000). Phonics
through spelling teaches students to break words down by phonemes and spell them according to
the phonemes they hear in the word (DeGraff, Bosman, Hasselman Verhoeven, 2009).
Incidental phonics instruction does not follow a planned sequence of phonics elements to guide
instruction but highlights particular elements opportunistically when they appear in text (NRP,
2000, p.8) Incidental phonics instruction is embedded in ongoing reading and writing activities.
The National Reading Panel recommends the use of systematic and explicit phonics instruction
rather than incidental. The National Reading Panel

Ford Company Analysis
Case Study: Ford Motor Company s VEP
Question 1
Go ahead with the Value Enhancement Plan
The feature of having both cash and new share options makes the VEP have its strengths and
makes an excellence choice for Ford Motor Company. The cash option solves the problem of Ford
having massive amounts of extra cash. Since Ford has no profitable activities for the extensive
amounts of cash, returning the excess cash to shareholders allows them to make profitable
investments. Different from a cash dividend, the returned cash will be taxed as capital gain and
therefore achieves tax efficiency for the shareholders. When looking at the company s point of
view, they are able to lower the dividend payment because there will be an increase ... Show more

It would be inefficient for an institutional investor to elect to only the stock option. The reason for
this is because the VEP favors the Ford family members and dilutes the value of an investors
voting power. It would be hard to compete with the Ford family even if the investors were to put
all of their $20 cash into buying new common shares. A combination of both cash and stock
would be a good option for them as they would have an opportunity to get part of their investment
out of Ford as well as invest in opportunities somewhere else. In a sense, they would not be putting
all their eggs in one basket. They would have a good return on there initial investment if they take
part of the $20 as cash.
Outside Shareholder
If I were a regular outside shareholder I would choose the cash option because their main
concern is to make a profit while they care less about voting power. Going with the cash option is
a good idea because if I were a shareholder, I would think that Ford has few growth opportunities
and cannot find profitable plans for the future. This would give the shareholders the freedom to do
as they desire with the cash and make their own independent investments. Although the new price of
shares would decrease, the shareholders would not bear the loss because the cash they receive
offsets the reduced price. Note that any final decision as an outside shareholder should calculate in
the tax

  • 2. The Portrait Of Edward Hopper Edward Hopper was a quiet person but his art speaks louder that his words. His paintings are famous because they are mysterious and his scenes don t seem to be complete. His paintings leave the viewer with questions which makes his painting even more interesting. Hopper started sketching and drawing at a very young age. Hopper has struggled throughout his career but in the end, he s made it to where he is now. When Hopper was young he loved anything to do with art. He was extremely excited when he got a blackboard one Christmas. He loved how he could draw anything, erase it, and draw a brand new picture. When he became older he had a pencil and paper everywhere he went. He loved to observe people but he watched them in a natural habitat... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He also visited Belgium, England, Germany, and France. He even stayed with a french family when he was in Paris. When he wasn t traveling over to Europe he lived in an apartment in Greenwich which he moved into in 1913. Hopper lived here for the rest of his life. He hated having to work and paint for other businesses but that s what he had to do to keep his apartment. Luckily for him, he was 43 years old when he had enough money to quit the job and focus on his paintings more. Most artists don t immediately get recognized and in Hopper s case, the first painting he ever sold was in 1911. The painting was call Sailing and it sold for $250 or $4300 in today s money. It was also exhibited at the famous Armory Show. The Armory show introduced American Art World to a new kind of experimental art of Europe. Getting an invitation to this exhibit was a great honor. So this was a pretty big deal for him. Sadly, after Sailing he didn t sell another painting for years. He did, however, continue to work as an illustrator even though he didn t like it. Later, he traveled to Monhegan, Maine and met Josephine Verstille Nivison. She was a former student of his who studied under Henri as well. The two had been friends for quite a few years and then they got New York on July 9, 1924. They were in fact opposites of each other Josephine or Jo was more outgoing and spoke her thoughts, while Hopper was more soft spoken, quiet, and polite. Sometimes talking with Eddie is ... • 4. Civil War Vs Confederacy Essay In 1861 the United States witnessed a division within itself. As a result a war, better known as the Civil war, broke out due to the South s declaration for their independence. In the beginning of the Civil war, President Lincoln s main goal was to preserve the union. Although many assumed the Civil war s primary goal was to abolish slavery, that simply wasn t the case. The Union and the Confederacy both wanted to preserve a way of life. The difference between the Union and the confederacy, and what ultimately started the Civil war, was that both sides wanted to preserve life differently. These differences brought many changes throughout the war, and along those changes came many consequences. The Confederacy s goal was independence. They wanted to gain independence from the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the Civil war the North defeated the south, and as a result the Confederates were devastated. One of the consequences of the civil war was the amount of life that was taken during this time. The destruction of life and property were enormous. The south had many consequences as a result of the civil war. The confederates suffered economically by the civil war. Because most of the fighting was done in the south, a lot of the land was ruined. As a result the south had to rebuild. There was a lot of physical damage done to the region. Most of the best agricultural land were destroyed. Many major cities, like Richmond were destroyed, and farm values diminished. The Confederates believed the Union had limited their constitutional rights to make their own political, social and economic decision. To them the real issue was liberty not slavery. Both the North and the South had slaves, but by the end of the war many slaves were freed and a minority of slaves in the south fled to the union. African Americans weren t allowed to enlists in neither armies, but as the war went on the union admitted black soldiers, but at a lower pay than the whites. ( Foner ... • 5. Cupcake Stands Making a cupcake stand by yourself is not hard at all. They can be made from cardboard, plastic, metal, or glass. Cardboard DIY cupcakes stands are probably the easiest and quickest to make so that is the style we will use for this example. First, you must decide how many tiers you want for your cupcakestand and decide what shape you would like them to be. Stands with circular tiers are very common so we will use that as an example. Building your stand with, say, five tiers will require five different size cardboard circles, with the largest circle at the base of the cupcake stand and the smallest circle at the top. It s important to know that each tiers base should be small enough compared to the next tier lower to allow the cupcakes enough room to sit on the ledge without their tops being squashed by the next tier higher. There were girls that would soon be my friends; I would meet them through my involvement in scouting. Over the years of being first a Brownie, then a Junior, Cadette, Senior, and now Ambassador, I have developed essential leadershipskills and self confidence. Through my 10 year long journey of being a Girl Scout, I have organized and executed various events for other Girl Scouts and the community. This is actually a portion of the Girl Scout Law, but our leaders always made sure to enforce in us the idea to not just be a sister to other scouts, but to everyone we met, a rule is one that I still carry around with me today. When I earned my Bronze Award at age 11 I was forced to do something unfamiliar, and I had to organize, cook, and serve a spaghetti supper for the Church of the Exceptional, a church designed specifically for adults with special needs. • 10. Reflection Paper On Group Interaction REFLECTION PAPER Identified Experience The group member I identified most with was Andrew in the first program. I identified with Andrew because he stated he felt like an outsider at times. He felt that it was easier to talk with men than women. However, in my case, I feel as though it is easier to talk with women than men in a group. Overall, I feel hesitant to share because most of my group participation has been with practically strangers. Like the video, I believe it is difficult to talk out loud about personal issues. Talking out loud about issues that may cause anxiety has been a problem for me personally for many years. However, after dialoguing with others within groups, I tend to become more comfortable talking and opening up. In the first program, as the group members began to talk in the first segment, there was a difference in the ability to relate to each other. I believe the dyads influenced open up and talking out loud. Working in pairs facilitates member interaction because talking to one person seems less threatening than addressing the entire group (p. 18). At the beginning of the sessions the group leaders asked each member to look around the room to gain a feel of the group members. The purpose of assessing the tone of the room will create an awareness of everyone in the room. Also, everyone introduced themselves by saying their names. During the early part of the group interactions, Andrew identified with James as feeling like an outsider. I believe at this time was the beginning if Andrew doing the work. The group leader asked Andrew can he relate to anyone else in the group. Nobody knows what it feels like to be the other person. The only way to express how I feel would be to realize within discussion and verbalize my feelings. We do not assume that we know what being an outsider means to Andrew or James, nor do we know what feeling stupid is like for Jacqueline, so we ask all three of them to note and verbalize when they become aware of these feelings (p. 17). Throughout this session each members were encouraged to talk out loud to verbalized related issues. I believe the entire session is a process of doing the work. Modernization and Dependency Theory Modernization and Dependency theory Nowadays the rapid development of the word and the growing integration of countries can hardly fail to affect the development of new theories which attempt to explain the relationship between countries and the existing inequality between developed countries and countries of the third world. In this respect, it is possible to refer to Modernization theory and Dependency theory which, being quite different, still have certain similarities in their views on the modern world and relationships between developed and developing countries. In fact, differences between Modernization theory and Dependency theory result from the origin of Dependency theory which, as it has been already mentioned above, was developed in response to Modernization theory. On analyzing existing differences between the two theories, first of all, it is necessary to underline that Modernization theory views the development of the world and relationships between developed and developing countries as the relationships of potentially equal countries which are just at a different stage of development at the moment. To put it more precisely, Modernization theory stands on the ground that western countries are well developed and western way of development is viewed as the most successful and perspective while there is practically no other alternatives to this way of the development. This is why the supporters of this theory insist on the necessity to develop the cooperation between developed and developing countries in order to make the latter closer to the former. What is meant here is the fact that Modernization theory underlines the necessity of borrowing the experience of western countries by developing countries of the Third world (Scott 196). Basically, developing countries should follow blindly the example of more developed western countries and this will bring them economic, social, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Growing up I always admired individuals that were in law enforcement. I always felt that individuals who enforced the law were the ultimate superhero. Around middle school I had the opportunity to join an extra curricular activity that revolved around federal law enforcement. Throughout my presentation I thought that my voice was reassuring to listen to and not over enthusiastic. I think that throughout my intake interview it was important for me to think of myself of being in the position of talking normally to a friend and I think that showed through my performance. In contrast, during my conversation with my friend Sarah, I asked her questionsin regards to how her disorder has impacted her leisure lifestyle, what activities she likes to do and what activities she would like to try doing throughout her sessions. I listened to her as she gave her responses and I thought that I did well at asking her further questions and confronting certain topics to betterunderstand her point of view. I then reflect off that by reiterating what she had previously said, but stated it in a different way. I thought this was beneficial because I overall felt more comfortable asking her more questions, which lead to a deeper conversation. Lastly, I thought my non verbal skills were relaxed, I remained engaged throughout the conversation with eye contact and the distance between us was at a comfortable place. In particular these are temperature, humidity, water quality and airborne diseases this makes them acutely vulnerable to catching these diseases and fungal infections. Unlike reptiles or birds, which have hard shelled eggs, amphibians have jelly like, unshelled eggs that cannot survive desiccation. Amphibians need moist climates to reproduce, and this makes them extremely sensitive to climate change. Frogs in high mountainous areas are most affected by global warming. Tadpoles are very slow growing creatures and cannot begin breeding themselves until four years later. This restrictive breeding pattern makes it difficult for frogs to reproduce efficiently with many disturbances being fire, flood water, droughts and disease frequently interfering. Frogs breeding phenology is being directly affected by enhanced climate change as they are highly susceptible to rising temperatures. Most species of frogs remain inactive during the winter months and unbearable summers. Although once the temperatures increase the species surface from hibernation and immediately search for ponds and rivers to begin breeding. Females only breed once a year, and the process from a tadpole to a frog can take anywhere between 20 days and 2 years depending on the species of the frog and the surrounding conditions. If the conditions are not right, metamorphosis can be held back until the conditions are correct. However if these conditions are never improved a tadpole can be stopped from developing any further. With the effects from enhanced global warming, the conditions occurring are becoming less and less to the suitable frogs, and there are less good breeding season occurring every year as a result of the transforming climate. As a result of this the numbers of frogs in our ecosystems are rapidly decreasing. BREEDING HABITAT As frogs are they rely heavily on lakes, ponds and other bodies of water to ... Steeped lavishly with interactions, mostly violent unfortunately, there is ample breeding ground for one s crop of theory. With societal rifts of anguish, for each side unable to appease the other, the land slipped into an entrenched ideology of nationalism against one another. The extent of the war pre dates NATO and the UN, institutions that made a firm stand in Kosovo, and even the whispered declaration of war. The United States and Western allies acted to demonstrate their power over and to control their spheres of influence. Anarchy, the third principle demarcated by the Oxford Handbook of International Relations, establishes that the absence of an international government provides feeding ground for self help to accumulate (Oxford, 133). Though NATO and the UN act as international interventionists, they are not an international government, and as much as the United States to assert itself as an international policeman, it does not step its foot into every state s affairs. Without an international government in place, the Kosovo Albanian Conflict was able to happen. Self help for all parties was an inevitable aspect of the bloodshed. Women have transitioned from submissive conservative roles to liberal something. A big part of this is due to the view of women changing in history. The 1800s was a time of, advancement, invention and enterprise in the world of moving images. The next revolution in car production took place not in the United States but in Japan. A change in management thinking occurred there when Ohno Taiichi, a Toyota production engineer, pioneered the development of lean manufacturing in the 1960s after touring the US plants of the Big Three car companies. The management philosophy behind lean manufacturing is to continuously find methods to improve the efficiency of the production process in order to reduce costs, increase quality, and reduce car assembly time. In lean manufacturing, workers work on a moving production line, but they are organized into small teams, each of which is responsible for a particular phase of car assembly, such as installing the car s transmission or electrical wiring system. (Bailey, Peterson) According to statistics gathered from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the areas of the country that had a lower enforcement of capital punishment were actually a place where the police officers were safer than in the regions where the capital punishment was heavily enforced. (Death Penalty in Focus) For instance, the number of murders of an officer of the law in the southern states between the years of 1989 and 1998 was an alarming two hundred and ninety two total deaths. Averaging the number of murders over the ten year period, 29.2 police officers were killed each year, and this was in a region where the death penalty was heavily enforced. These statistics definitely contradict that the death penalty acts as deterrence for an act of murder. However, the Puritans did not favor the idea of their children growing up outside of British influences despite having the privilege of freedom of religion. In 1620, the first group of Puritan settlers sailed to North America aboard the Mayflower. It wasn t until 1629 when John Winthrop delivered his city upon a hill sermon that created a new perspective and goal for the growing Puritan society. Economic, political, and social difficulties were faced, but religion stayed a constant center for the Puritan settlements. Both failures and successes molded the Puritan settlement into what it was in the seventeenth century, which leads into the influences left by the Puritans in today s society. Body Ritual Among The Nacirema By Miner Effective communication has many aspects that can be described as either transparent or a hidden unknown, which in many readings it describes how ambiguity is a necessary evil in communications. The Triangle of Linguistic Structure can give phonology meaning form, semantics the value of meaning, and pragmatics that feature the intention to uncertain communications. The direct statements of saying someone is dead, can be harmful so they use etiquette to give reason to use a buffer and instead say they have moved away. With this feature active, it allows users to access parts of the PS3 s infrastructure that would not be normally available to the everyday consumer. What also came with this firmware update was the ability to access Sony s internal developer network. Additionally from there, hackers gained access to the internal secure network and could perform all kinds of hacks to trick the system. Student Veterans And Traditional Students As the number of student veterans continues to increase within the university system, it is imperative to examine both the similarities and the differences between student veterans and traditional students (students without military experience), and what effect those differences may have on student veterans ability to succeed. We surveyed thirty undergraduates at the Universityof Alaska Anchorage, assessing their gradepoint average, age, hours spent studying, and various other factors which we deemed our criteria for success . In doing so, we believed that we would find a radical difference between the grade point average of student veterans compared to their traditional counterparts. The data collected suggests that our hypothesis was correct: student veterans were a letter grade behind their peers. This gap in achievement between the two groups suggests that student veterans ability to adjust to life within the university system requires further examination. How Is Paul Von Hindenburg A Hero Paul Von Hindenburg was a renowned military and political leader for Germany; he is most notable for being a distinguished Field Marshal for the Imperial German Army during WWI, and being the second president of the Weimar republic. His military hero status was essential for his ability to garner support from the German public. His monarchistic views were highly influential in shaping the government while he was reigning as president, and as a result of his seat of presidency, he was a major determining factor in the eventual fate of the republic. During and after the war, Hindenburg was seen as a national hero, and was considered to have embodied all of the positive characteristics of the collective German people. While the appeal of Hindenburg was present throughout all social classes, religions, and political view points, it was the German right wing political groups which idolised Hindenburg the most; seeing him as a portrayal of classic Prussian ethics, and Lutheran and Junker values. Despite this support for Hindenburg personally at the home front, support for the war itself was dwindling, and after General Ludendorf s failed spring offensive, the situation seemed hopeless for the German military. With conditions on the home front worsening, and realising the dire situation Germany faced in the war, on the 29th September 1918; General Hindenburg, General Ludendorf and the Kaiser Wilhelm II agreed to establish a new democratic government in Germany to replace the current form of government. In spite of this seeming like a victory for the democrats in Germany, it has been argued that this was just an effort to deflect blame for the inevitable defeat at the hands of the allies to left wing elements on the home front.
