The Dangers Of Religious Intolerance
The world can be a dangerous place. It can be even more dangerous if someone proves to be different,
or seen as unusual in any way. Scientology may be one of the strangest religions in the world. Due to
this, Scientology has experienced intolerance since it was first founded in 1954. Religious intolerance
is a social issue, consequently affecting every level of the religious community, from the followers to
the conductors of Scientology. Even though numerous people view Scientology as a cult or fraudulent
religion, or believe that the religion is so small and the beliefs so strange it can simply be written off,
hence the intolerance ignored, Religious intolerance is a problem for Scientology because Only one
side of the argument is broadcasted, so Scientology receives immense amounts of hate, simply due to
the fact they believe differently than many other people. Scientology has responded to biased as well
as intolerant media as a result, their replies have been covered up, or scarcely brought up at all,
Scientologists have also been threatened with violence as well as even received hate mail and death
threats Widespread intolerance has always been a problem for Scientology for multiple reasons as well
as a serious issue which faces all religions of the world. However, the practice became popularized
when monotheistic religions such as Christianity or Judaism became popular. Since Scientology is
also considered a monotheistic religion, as well as describes a single

A Study A Year After The Repeal Of Dadt
A study by the Palm Center, a research branch from the University of California Los Angeles Law
School, conducted a study a year after the repeal of DADT. The research group wanted to discover
what impacts the repeal has done to the military and according to their findings they concluded: (1)
The repeal of DADT has had no overall negative impact on military readiness or its component
dimensions, including cohesion, recruitment, retention, assaults, harassment or morale. (2) A
comparison of 2011 pre repeal and 2012 post repeal survey data shows that service members reported
the same level of military readiness after DADT repeal as before it. (3) Even in those units that
included openly LGB service members, and that consequently should have been the most likely to
experience a drop in cohesion as a result of repeal, cohesion did not decline after the new policy of
open service was put into place. In fact, greater openness and honesty resulting from repeal seem to
have promoted increased understanding, respect and acceptance. (4) Recruitment was unaffected by
the repeal of DADT. In an era when enlistment standards are tightening, service wide recruitment has
remained robust. (5) Retention was unaffected by the repeal of DADT. There was no mass exodus of
military members as a result of repeal, and there were only two verifiable resignations linked to the
policy change, both military chaplains. Service members were as likely to say that they plan to re
enlist after DADT repeal as

Honest Iago As The Villain In Shakespeare s Othello
Honest Iago is the villain behind Othello , and his villainy is the main reason that the events in the
play occurred. He is a two faced and cunning character. His uses his cunning personality to persuade
other characters to participate in his plans, whether they are aware of it or not. He plays on their
weakness to greater achieve his goal. Iago s role as the villain is a necessary one as even though the
focus of the play in supposedly on Othello, it revolves around Iago and his plans. The play is
essentially told by Iago. Because he mainly tells the audience of his plans and motives, we are able to
grasp what Iago wants, and it gives a sense of dramatic irony to Othello as we know the reason why
certain events happened as what will happen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At first, he was jealous of Cassio taking the position of lieutenant. Then it s that Cassio slept with his
wife, but wait not only Cassio but Othello as well. His reasoning changing around so much it makes
the reader wonder if he doesn t even have a real motive at all and just wants to be evil.
Iago, himself, is known as Honest Iago. The other characters display a level of trust that he readily
takes advantage of. His façade of a nice person is only seen by the other characters. In fact, he uses
this façade to only give the other characters what they want to hear. An example of this is Iago telling
Cassio that reputation is nothing, yet turning around and telling Othello that reputation is everything.
The other side of him is only shown to the reader per his asides.
In his asides, Iago primarily tries to win over the reader by expressing the reasons for behavior.
Almost as if he is trying to make excuses for the reason he wants them dead. He also shifts the blame
away from himself as he tries to dismiss his comments as something that shouldn t be taken literally.
Iago s attempts to advocate his view to the point that he even starts to believe what he is saying is the
truth. This can be seen when he claims to love Desdemona, as he points out that everyone else is. His
reason for loving her could stem from her, unknowingly, helping him carry out his

Analysis Of The Article Simultaneity Of Oppression
Midterm Response Discuss and critically analyze the simultaneity of oppression if one group is
oppressed, can anybody be free? In the schematic hierarchy of race and sex, is the dominant group
free, at the expense of the oppressed groups, or unfree, even if materially empowered? Does it make
sense to argue that white women are freer, or less free, than black men ? The concept of the
simultaneity of oppression is relatively unknown, even within today s modern society. While there are
surely a multitude of reasons for its obscurity, it is likely due to the somewhat counterintuitive idea the
phrase itself suggests. It sounds ignorant to argue that oppression simultaneously affects both the
oppressor and the victim. However, this isn t an entirely accurate understanding of the concept; rather,
the simultaneity of oppression refers to the idea that if one group is oppressed, no group is truly free.
Although this still labels the oppressors as a marginalized group, when rephrased, the concept is
slightly more palatable. Before further examining what exactly the simultaneity of oppression is and
analyzing its effects, it s critical to make a key distinction. Though the simultaneity of oppression
certainly exists, it does not necessarily exist as an equal oppression to both sides. This distinction may
be helpful in understanding with the seemingly counterintuitive concept and will be discussed in
greater detail below. The simultaneity of oppression is largely

Advantages Of Frugal Innovation
Introduction
There is a growing need for simple, cost efficient, commercially viable technology solutions for
complex or day to day problems to turn the restrictions and constraints into advantage. Frugal
innovation is any innovation which works around the constraints financial or otherwise to either
increase efficiency of a process or service or effectively lower costs for an organisation or section of
people.
Frugal which is also known as Jugaad innovation works around the concept of creation of products or
services which are extremely cost efficient ,uses the resources to the maximum limit and makes use of
new age technologies which reduces the cost in the entire process of business. Frugally innovated
products are today being used ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Jugaad innovations in India
Every day , there are new platforms of technology like cloud computing that are incoming, which are
reducing cost of production, making it a lot more easier for the growth of frugal innovation
With the poor growth rate in the developed nations, price has become one of the major factors in
everyday increasing demands for low cost products which are good enough in getting the task done
In India there is abundance of people with the frugal bend of mind, The presence of Jugaad attitude in
people means there is no dearth of local innovators which would use all the possible means in terms of
low cost resources, technology to develop new products with the frugal centric approach
The presence of middle class in large number in India serves as a high motivation factor for
development of frugal innovation as there is already a ready made market for products which are cost

The Rising Tide Of Postmodern Consumerism Analysis
The Rising Tide of Postmodern Consumerism
Taylor University professor, Michael Jessup, in his article The Rising Tide of Postmodern
Consumerism addresses the issues of consumerism in the postmodern world its consequences on both
a personal, social and a global level.
In his article, Jessup first expounds the postmodern phenomenon of consumerism, whose nature he
criticizes, labelling it as superficial, selfish, and decadent. He then elaborates on the role that
consumerism plays in the postmodern individual s life, defining it as a manifestation of both one s
fundamental need to consume, and an inclination to shape and express one s identity through material
goods. Jessup continues by declaring reenchantment as postmodern consumerism s main ... Show

decorations, cafés and shops overflowing with consumer goods, all of which stand in great contrast to
the cold and barren area around the mall. Initially, the protagonist finds herself immensely enchanted
by that world and the consumer goods it provides, only to get lost in the chaos of the undifferentiated
mass , possibly confirming Michael Jessup s deepest concerns regarding postmodern

Raramuri Culture Essay
Over sixty five million people in the United States are runners. Of these runners, only a few can call
themselves ultramarathoners. Any race longer than 26.2 miles is an ultramarathon. Whether someone
is a weekend jogger or a fully committed ultramarathoner, they can learn from the example of the
Raramuri. The Raramuri are a nomadic Native American tribe in the Copper Canyons of Mexico.
Their entire culture revolves solely around running. The natives travel on foot from Chihuahua,
Mexico to the Copper Canyons, a journey of over 600 miles. The name Raramuri literally means the
light footed one. The strategies that the Raramuri use to survive develop who they are, how they stay
separate from the world, and how they can run for so long.
The Raramuri culture is extremely different when compared to the cultures of the United States and
Europe. They have different beliefs about simple things like a handshake. The Raramuri do not have
the same access to education as most Americans. The schools that the Raramuri attend do not teach
agriculture. Schools instead place emphasis on math and science. Science and math do not have any
immediate relevance to the life of the Raramuri. Schools teach Spanish, a useful skill for the
Raramuri, but the effect of a foreign language on their culture is negative. (Marshall). The Raramuri
prize their culture and do not want to have their culture changed.
The Raramuri protect their culture for change. So much, they have simply run from possible

T N T s Ta Go a Dynamite Idea
Introduction
TNT s Good Ta Go diner started off as a small shack near the run down shell station deep in the heart
of Buena Vista. They only served to go orders and had a small client list for catering. After the first
three years of business the customers had come too really like the food. It was real homemade food
one of the few establishments that was able to create homemade food for a reasonable price. Nearly a
year ago, they decided to get a bigger place and not just take to go orders. They made the restaurant
feel like the customer was walking into their own home. For example, their plates are not the same.
Most restaurants have the same looking plates but not T N T. They also make an effort to get to know
all of their customers .
T N T was founded four years ago by Trina and Tracey (names they preferred to have used) whom
have been in the food industry for quite some time. They both had grown up in and around the food
industry their whole life, both wanted a family oriented company that works hard to please consumers
and provide home cooked meals that satisfy and satiate the customer. T N T s goal starting up was to
do what they love, which just so happened to be cooking good quality food that one could pick up to
go. While T N T does not plan on franchising their business further than Buena Vista, Virginia. One
will see that in the B.V. vision T N T has thrived and kept

among youth and children. It is a persistent disorder that is attributed to neurobehavioral problems.
About 3% 5% of all the children in America are affected by ADHD (NINDS Attention Deficit

According to Psychology Mosko (2007, p. 7), neuroimaging techniques have enabled researchers to
discover discriminating patterns in the neuroanatomical function and structure in the brains of ADHD
patients. The neurobiological aspect of the research has mostly focused on studying the fronto striatal
system, which controls responses to environmental stimuli. The fronto striatal system is comprised of
a complex cortical and subcortical nuclei matrix and performs the functions of controlling attention
and processing speed of stimuli that elicits behavioural response. According to Psychology Mosko
(2007), the findings of the neuroimaging studies related to ADHD have concluded that people affected
by the disorder consistently exhibit abnormal basal ganglia, frontal lobes, cerebella, and corpus callosa
(p.7). Consequently, with each of these parts differently influenced by the prefrontal lobes, behaviour
that is normally internally guided is affected. Additional studies have found that ADHD patients
exhibit dysfunctions in their neural circuitry in which frontal lobes, cerebella, cingulated cortex, and
striatum are involved. There is ample evidence which points to the vital roles that each of these
regions play in memory and learning, controlling attention, coordinating and sequencing behavioural
responses (Psychology Mosko, 2007, p. 7). Apart from this

Attack And Die Book Review
In terms of considering why the Southern Confederacy lost the Civil War, Grady McWhiney and Perry
Jamieson have published an interestingly well researched book that offers a fresh, new interpretation
for southern defeat. In Attack and Die, McWhiney and Jamieson submit that the foremost reason for
southern defeat came from an aggressive southern heritage that was steeped in a culture taken from
their ancestors, the Celts. McWhiney and Jamieson offer another, more salient reason why the
Confederacy lost the Civil War. Because Southerners were imprisoned in a culture that rejected careful
calculation and patience, often refusing to learn from their mistakes, the real reason the Confederates
lost was because the offensive warfare that was so foundational to Confederate wartime strategy, also

Walt Disney was well known for being a patriarch in the animation industry. His employees,
numbering 800+, were the most experienced and well paid in the whole field. Just less than a decade
earlier, Walt and his studio had struck gold with the success of the first ever full length animated

successful sound movie ever. Walt had decided to take a large sum of the profit from Snow White and

Appeasement In The 1930s
The British and French policy of appeasement in the 1930s towards Adolf Hitler and Germany is
historically viewed as a feeble attempt to avoid war. In their essay, Wishful Thinking or Buying Time?
The Logic of British Appeasement in the 1930s, Norrin M. Rispsman and Jack S. Levy analyze
appeasement purely as a tool of statecraft, and not under what circumstances appeasement can be a
successful policy. They argue that appeasement is not only used to reduce the possibility of war with
an adversary, but it can be used to conserve resources against a more immediate threat, isolate an
adversary, or to buy off time to build up a deterrence against that adversary (151). Delving beyond the
typology of appeasement, they analyze historical British documents ... Show more content on

Prime Minister Neville Chamberlin and his cabinet realized that Germany s military could severely
damage Britain s economic position, and that Britain did not have the financial reserves for an
immediate rearmament program that was not implemented over time (168). Also, Chamberlin s
government recognized the threats posed by Japan and Italy as well, and realized that they needed to
potentially safeguard British interests from simultaneous attacks (168). While Chamberlin later would
prioritize rearmament over other factors as the German threat grew, it furthers the authors point of
appeasement not being a naïve strategy, but one based on a logical understanding of Britian towards
its circumstances, and trying to make those circumstances favorable. Of course, this chain of historical
events all led to the famous Munich conference. There, Ripsman and Levy argue that Chamberlin
advocated for concessions with the hopes of speeding up Britain s rearmament program and securing a
common front with Italy to balance against Germany (174). In addition, they also argue that
Chamberlin recognized that his policy of appeasement was bound to fail, but it was the best option for
stopping a destructive war in a foolish attempt to save Czechoslovakia when Britian was unprepared

almost to have no right here since my brother left or since they have been swept by this frenzy for the
ax. (Calvino 217) And that the arrival of the French and Napoleon s army, the chopping of the trees

According to The Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia Lombardy is now the chief commercial,

would explain why people decided to cut down the trees in order to help make way for the growing

Cosimo s relationship with the trees was not just a place to live, but more than that. He cared for the
trees and protected them as much as he possibly could, as if he were defending a friend or family
member. He and the Abb #233; constructed an irrigation system in order to put out the forest fires if
they broke out. He also told the French army where they could build new roads, Cosimo

Loyalty In Sir Gawain And Beowulf
Sir Gawain and the Green Knight and the narrative Beowulf are stories of great bravery and loyalty.
Sir Gawain, one of the finest Arthurian romances, is an accurate representation of the code of chivalry,
bravery. Beowulf, an epic poem that has been told for centuries, is about a hero with superhuman
qualities demonstrating loyalty. Granted these characters are not alike in their actions, they do both
display bravery and loyalty in one way or another. Sir Gawain and Beowulf are both brave and loyal,
showing these qualities by taking on seemingly impossible tasks. Sir Gawain expresses his loyalty to
King Arthur, his uncle, by stating, I d be deeply honored to advise you before all the court (Gawain
Poet 124). Basically Sir Gawain is offering

Who Are The Souls In Dante s Inferno
The second lesson he learns, is how justly God punishes the souls in purgatory. All of the
punishments, or penances, relate to their sin on Earth. Those who were excommunicated, must wait in
Ante Purgatory for 30 years longer than their time excommunicated. With the excommunicated are
those who repented late in life. All the other souls had penance that directly matched their sins on
Earth. The first three terraces contain the souls whose main sin involved love that was perverted. The
sinners loved their neighbors harm, and their own betterment. After they enter through the gate of
Purgatory, the first souls he encounters are the prideful. These souls are bent over with huge stones on
their backs, slowly walking around the terrace. Their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the terrace of the wrathful, Dante and Virgil lose all the strength in their limbs, and the pair have
to rest. Ironically this terrace is filled with the souls of the slothful and lazy, who always lay dormant
and still. They are forced to run continuously, and never rest. The next terrace Dante goes to is for the
avaricious or the greedy. They are flat on their faces, their gaze fixed on Earth, and their backs to
heaven. This represents the way they acted in life, turning their attention toward Earthly goods,
subsequently turning their back to God. On the next terrace, there is a huge tree with sweet smelling
fruit. They starved souls of the gluttonous have to resist the temptation to eat the fruit, a temptation
they could not overcome on Earth. Also, similar to the slothful, the gluttonous have to run around
forever. The last terrace contains the souls of the lustful. The terrace is surrounded by a wall of fire,
that the souls must continuously run through. These flames represent the misdirected sexual desire
these souls had in life. All the souls in Purgatory have a penance that represents what they lacked or a

Homosexuals Right to Marriage Essay
Since the beginning of time, our country has struggled with equal rights issues in one way or another.
Whether those issues were women s rights, segregation of races, or more currently the equal rights of
those whose sexual orientation is different from what is considered to be normal by the vast majority
of the population. However, the reality is that all people deserve to be treated equally. This country
was founded on the idea of individuals being equal and because of this we should all, who call this
great nation home have the same rights. I believe it is our job as a growing nation to provide security
and acceptance for all, and in doing so giving the same rights, to all individuals of this country

Due to this, federal benefits such as social security retirement and survivors benefits, along with
federal tax breaks for married couples do not apply to the homosexual community. They may be
refused health insurance under their partners insurance solely, based on the fact that they are not
legally married. However, this country is constantly consumed with healthcare related issues and
people not being covered by health insurance, though it would seem in some cases the federal
government is to blame for that. Geoffrey R. Stone states the Supreme Court has long recognized that
the government can never lawfully treat one group of people worse than others because the majority
deems that group immoral, depraved, unworthy or sinful according to God s principles. If this were so
then marriage would have to re defined to exclude other immoral unions, such as, convicted murders,
child molesters, rapist, and adulterers. These people shouldn t be able to marry either or receive
benefits under federal law. Other issues that plague the homosexual community are questions on the
validity of their relationships. Research shows that many gay men and lesbian women want or have a
committed relationship. According to the American Psychological Association; 40% to 60% of gay
men and between 45% and 80% of lesbians are currently involved in a same sex romantic relationship,
and that out of the 5.5 million couples in 2003, that were

Single sex instruction is an old approach that is increasing new force. While single sex instruction has
since a long time ago existed in numerous non public schools, it s a moderately new choice for state

government funded schools now offer some type of single sex training. What is filling this
development? What s more, what are the dangers and advantages of single sex training?
A main impetus in the single sex training development is late research demonstrating regular contrasts

Some guardians don t need their kids to be in blended sexual orientation classrooms in light of the fact
that, particularly at specific ages, understudies of the inverse sex can be a diversion.
Leonard Sax and others concur that simply setting young men in isolated classrooms from young
ladies achieves little. Be that as it may, single sex training upgrades understudy achievement when
educators use procedures intended for the sex of their understudies.
Some examination demonstrates that young ladies learn better when classroom temperature is warm,
while young men perform better in cooler classrooms. On the off chance that that is valid, then the
temperature in a solitary sex classroom could be set to streamline the learning of either male or female
understudies.
Some exploration and reports from teachers propose that solitary sex training can widen the
instructive prospects for both young ladies and young men. Advocates claim co ed schools have a

Why Uranium Is Removed From The Oceans By Diffusion Across...
Uranium is removed from the oceans by diffusion across the sediment water interface of organic rich
sediments, and this pathway is the largest single sink in the global budget of this element (Anderson et
al., 1989; Barnes and Cochran, 1990; Thomson et al., 1990; Lyons et al., 2002; Calvert et al., 2015).
Klinkhammer and Palmer (1991) remark that the dissolved uranium is drawn into suboxic sediments
along a concentration gradient established by the precipitation of an insoluble phase which forms
when U6+ is reduced to U4+. They also mention that this transformation occurs relatively late in the
diagenetic sequence, after the microbially mediated dissolution of manganese and iron oxides, and
may be induced by the onset of sulfate reduction. Metallo organics play an important role in the
diagenetic behavior of this element as some uranium is released into solution when labile organics are
consumed at the sediment water interface (Thomson et al., 1990).
In contrast, the diagenesis of authigenic Fe and Mn oxides exerts negligible influence on the uranium
diagenetic cycle (Barnes and Cochran, 1989). Barnes and Cochran (1989) state that the variations in
the uranium concentration of sediment with time are controlled directly by the uranium content of the
source material settling from the water column, and indirectly, by the organic content of this material
and the sedimentation rate. Klinkhammer and Palmer (1991) propose that since diffusion from
seawater influences dramatically

Guns Germs And Steel Chapter Summary Of Blood Diamond
In this chapter, Diamond examines if humans on one continent had an advantage over others by
examining the evolution and spread of humans to other continents. Diamond first examines human
origin around 7 million years ago when a population of African apes evolved into some of the earliest
humans. This evolutionary process occurred and remained in Africa until around 1.5 million years ago
when Homo erectus spread beyond Africa. By about .5 million years ago, human populations had
differentiated with Neanderthals in Europe, relatively modern structured humans in Africa, and
humans different from both in East Asia. It wasn t until 50,000 years ago when biologically and
behaviorally modern humans ,the Cro Magnons , appeared did humans advanced from crude stone

This in turn, influences a change to his state of mind and furthermore improves his mentality.
Ultimately this displays a positive consequence of moving into the world.
Within the second trimester of the novel it is evident that new experiences have further enhanced Tom
s movement past hardship and into a world happier than he had perviously subdued. Through
acceptance of his new world forced upon him, Tom has improved physically. As Tom becomes
physically active again he enriches his understanding of self, and his place in the world. You know,
Dan, they really enjoy playing. It s not just about winning . Burke uses dialogue to present that Tom
has accepted the new word and in doing so, has grown not only physically but mentally as well.
Through this Burke portrays yet another positive consequence of moving into the world.
The motion picture Juno stars a protagonist which faces multiple consequences due to an unplanned
pregnancy. The movie, like the novel present themes revolving around teenage decision making. The
movie is solidly based through the experiences of a pregnant teenage girl, the protagonist Juno.
Being suddenly hit with the unexpected when Juno discovers that she is pregnant, the composer shows
that she is immensely confused. Numerous intense mid shots used highlight Juno s confusion.

Essay on Brian Friel s Translations
Brian Friel s Translations
Brian Friel s play Translations was the first production of the Field Day Theatre Company in Derry in
1980, which Friel co founded with Stephen Rea. It describes the beginning of the process of
Anglicization in a relatively remote Gaelic speaking area during the 1833 Survey of Ireland, in which
the English mapped Ireland, both culturally and geographically. Years of concerted anglicizing of the
Irish by the British early in the 19th century led to the widespread fall into disuse of the native Gaelic
tongue. National schools teaching exclusively in English began to open during the Survey of Ireland,
and English culture encroached rapidly into Ireland. William Butler Yeats and Douglas Hyde write

Hyde s speech argues that the Irish had by that point indiscriminately adopted all that was English
with little thought as to its value, that the Irish had [ceased] to be Irish without becoming English. 2
He criticizes those Irish who claim to hate British dominance, yet speak only English, anglicize their
Irish names, and remain ignorant of Gaelic literature. His central view is that the Gaelic language is
the most important aspect of an Irish identity distinct to that of the British, and that only a return to
Ireland s native language can halt the process of Anglicization. However, he is careful not to make the
claim that nothing English is of value, but emphasizes the necessity of not neglecting that which is
essentially Irish.
The history of Ireland is one of early scholasticism and rich culture in times when the rest of Europe
had less of a literary and artistic tradition. By the time of Hyde s speech, the nation had become one of
the least studious and most un literary 3 countries of the area, and he claims that the fault lies in a
divergence from the right path. 4 Progressive Anglicization has led the Irish to forget their own culture
and its traditions. The British claim that because the Irish have forgotten much of their language and
customs, they should be content as an integral part of the United Kingdom, and

The Half Has Never Been Told
:Slavery and the making of American Capitalism
Back when America was being shaped, tobacco was the main slave produced trade in the colonies.
Plantations all across the south had a majority of the slaves from Africa brought here on ships. Forced
to work for their slave owners. Tobacco wasn t the only booming business. Cotton soon came into the
picture, the north was a more industrial economy, while the south remained agricultural. The most
important economic development in the mid 19th century was the shift from the upper south to lower
south. The upper south relied on tobacco , it was very unstable , and the land was used. So the shift to
cotton was a necessity.
Slavery was huge in america, and it even lead to a civil war, it lasted a very long time, from 1619
1865. We still struggle with slavery today because we still struggle with its legacy. Without cotton the
north would not have been able to industrialize, at least not as quickly because cotton textiles were
one of the first industrially produced products and the most important commodity in world trade by
the 19th century. Almost every plantation owner bought slaves. The south was so plowed into slaves
there was little room for technological advances, like railroads, I think the south sucked at the civil
war thing because of that reason. In short slavery dominated the south, shaping it both economically
and culturally. It s

Amelia Earhart Disappearance Theory
How could someone survive a plane crash? Since Amelia Earhart s disappearance, theories were
developed trying to explain what was taken into effect, after there was no response from her in the
Pacific ocean. Some either believe that Japanese troops kidnapped her, she died as a castaway, or that
Earhart lived under another identity. In the end, Amelia Earhart did survive her attempted voyage
around the world. Earhart s mysterious disappearance lead to different theories. One of those theories
is that the Japanese kidnapped Amelia Earhart and her navigator Noonan, holding them captive.
Earhart and Noonan were making a stop on Howland island, but before they arrived they lost
connection with the U.S. Coast Guard. Years later, a picture was discovered in the U.S. National
Archives displaying what is supposed Earhart and Noonan near Japanese troops. Along with the two
missing people in the photograph, parts of plane were behind them. An American spy took the picture.
An article in:

characteristic, Gibson said. It s a very sharp receding hairline. The nose is very prominent.
A facial recognition expert confirmed that the U.S. spies photograph could possibly be Noonan and

whom it is intended can read and process it. (Rouse, Definition: Cryptography, 2016)
It s meant for keeping secrets secret.
The objectives of Cryptography are as follows:
Confidentiality Ensuring that the information cannot be understood by anyone other than whom it was
intended.
Integrity Ensuring that the information cannot be altered in storage or in transit.
Non repudiation Where the creator or sender of information cannot later deny creation of the message
to be sent.
Authentication In which the sender and receiver can confirm each other s identity as well as the origin

Chamberlain s Policy Toward Germany Essays
Chamberlain s Policy Toward Germany
Appeasement is the term used to describe the foreign policies of the British Conservative governments
of Baldwin (1935 37) and Chamberlain (1937 40) and also those of France and America to a lesser
extent. Appeasement involved making concessions to the two main dictators of Europe; Hitler and
Mussolini.
Hitler broke many of the stipulations of the Treaty of Versailles, yet nothing active was done, there
was only spoken denunciation of his actions. Hitler stopped paying reparations in 1933. Hitler began
to openly rearm in 1935. Hitler sent troops into the Rhineland on 7 March 1936. He united with

Aerial bombardment was also a real threat as had been demonstrated by the Luftwafe in Guernica
where the whole town had been destroyed. The worry was that this could happen to London, meaning
many civilian casualties on the home front it would be total war. Furthermore, Britain was more
worried about defending its empire and had been concerned about the threat from Japan in the Far
East. It could not deal with aggression from both Germany and Japan. In economic terms, Britain was
still suffering from the effects of the Great Depression and Chamberlain was reluctant to spend vast
sums of money on improving the country s armed forces. Weak defences, he believed, would not
matter if Britain avoided war. Public opinion also supported appeasement and there was a mood of
pacifism. Chamberlain, as an elected representative, was doing his job by representing the views of his
people when considering foreign affairs.
Secondly, Chamberlain held a good view of Hitler and Germany. Chamberlain felt that the Treaty of
Versailles had been too harsh and took a favourable view of Hitler s complaints about how unfair the
treaty had been to Germany. He believed that if Germany s complaints were dealt with fairly then
Europe could look forward to a long period of peace. Chamberlain also thought that Hitler was a
reasonable man and admired him for his economic successes and achievement of

Sonny s Blues By James Baldwin Essay
Sonny s Blues is a narration about two siblings brothers who choose very different routes in life in
order to accomplish the zenith of individualism, expressionism and recognition. In doing so, they take
a glimpse into one another s spheres and learn to assent and appreciate each other for who they are. In
1951, Baldwin wrote Sonny s Blues, a story of the ills that Harlem provided its youth. In Baldwin s
telling of the narration, it forms a nous of liberation, an atmosphere of therapeutic acceptance for the
author, in which Baldwin develops to express his own state through his virtuoso of storytelling. To put
it inanely, Baldwin has such a fine grasp of the linguistic and such great urge to interpret that he can
move even his stoutest detractors to emotion and response.
Walter Dean Myers (2014), a famous New York Times journalist wrote that ...I read a story by James
Baldwin: Sonny s Blues. I didn t love the story, but I was lifted by it, for it took place in Harlem, and it
was a story concerned with black people like those I knew. By humanizing the people who were like
me, Baldwin s story also humanized me. The story gave me a permission that I didn t know I needed,
the permission to write about my own landscape, my own map. It broods a similar contentment in the
reader that the reader s conscience is questioned by the exposé of the veracity of the characters
quandary and epiphany and thus, a deep level of appreciative ness of the American Negro s struggle is

value to the reader s life in present day. The Girl On The Train strongly brings values to ones life
through great lessons, allowing you to look into yourself and experiencing things without even leaving
the house.

It gives us access to a range of emotions and events that it would take you years to try to experience
directly. It is almost the greatest reality simulator. And lets the reader witness what its like to divorce
someone, kill someone and be remorseful, ride a train, get fired, get a new job, be a mom or never get
married at all! All this in one book! Ultimately its a time saver letting you experience all these things
without actually doing them at all. The girl on the train let me experience these things and get a greater
understanding in crazy situations, our own situation, settings and problems. It let us experience
different situations because the characters in the novel experience them themselves. For example when
the book is in Anna s perspective, the reader really gets a feel on what its like to be a mom just from
reading the novel. Anna talked about the struggles and the good parts of raising a child giving us a
better understanding on what its like. Also when Tom is describing killing Megan the reader
experienced what he experienced. (insert quote about tom killing megan) It also lets us asses our life
in comparison to others. When Rachel described what she had been through i felt as i could relate to it
myself. The book let me compare my life to hers, and see what I was doing wrong. The novel also
takes us across continents to experience different parts of the world where we

20054057 Assignment Title : The LEGO Group: working with strategy. Date : 03 March 2012
Programme : BTECH MANAGEMENT IV Question 1 Explain how the development of strategy at
the LEGO Group reflect the key characteristics of strategic management outlined in section 1.2 and in
the model in Figure 1.4? Strategy is the long term direction of an organization (Johnson, Whittington
and Scholes, 2011, p.3). The LEGO Group started with the manufacture of stepladders, ironing
boards, stools and wooden toys and has grown into one of the top five toy makers in the world
(Johnson, Whittington and Scholes, 2011). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Due to heavy financial losses and a weak capital structure affecting investment opportunities, the Lego
Group had to look within to find a path forward (Johnson, Whittington and Scholes, 2011). The
company had remained a family run firm for most of it`s history and by Kjeld reinforcing his
responsibility as CEO, it sent a clear signal that the family was behind the company. By divesting in
LEGOLAND parks, writing off other assets and simplifying the corporate structure, this allowed the
LEGO Group to focus on it`s core business. Attention was directed towards resolving distribution
problems and getting closer to retailers in order to understand their sales to end customers. Focus was
placed on cutting costs and the entire procurement process was revised, resulting in fewer suppliers
and significant cost reductions. Supply chain management philosophy changed from outsourced
management, to in house management. This strategy allowed for flexibility and the ability to react to
short term changes in customer demand as a priority over cost (Johnson, Whittington and Scholes,
2011). Research shows that play and the use of toys like LEGO can aid a child`s development
immensely. It helps with basic spatial awareness and colour recognition, but also stimulates a child`s
creative and imaginative thinking (Block Toys, 2011). However, a rapidly evolving society, leaning
more towards electronic games,

The Kitchen Of A Restaurant
I managed to salvage this notebook from the kitchen of a restaurant whose sign is unreadable at this
point. Most of us have looted the neighborhoods, supply stores, and campsites. Most people take
refuge in the neighborhoods to feel at home again. Some are settled in the cities, some are in the
mountains. The smartest people move around according to environmental and manmade threats. I
remember the day the TV in the soup kitchen I worked at was interrupted by a U.S. government
message that went along the lines of We have spotted enemy aircrafts coming into United States
territory. Please take shelter until we alert you that it is safe to come out. Do not stand near windows
or doors. Do not stand outside or unconcealed. Do not stand ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The ground started shaking and the weak buildings instantly crumbled. Fire spread across the nearby
forests. I assume they were using Napalm against us. Of course I didn t tell anyone, we re all already
scared enough. In fact, I kept most of my thoughts to myself. If the people living at the camp sites
survived the carbon monoxide and fire, they d come down here. Knowing the way people are in these
times, anyone seeking refuge would take anything by force. To keep everyone distracted from the
chaos outside, I began to introduce myself to everyone else here. I m Max. I don t exactly run this

Asking this was not easy. I was still a little shaky because of what happened only a few minutes ago. I

Technologies Required For E Commerce
Technologies required for E Commerce
In this report, I am going to explain the technologies which are required for e commerce as well as the
technologies that might be required by Cuckoo a small business selling clocks and watches that is
willing to expand via the internet. The technologies which I will be justifying include the hardware,
software and networking needed for e commerce.
The technologies that are required for E commerce include;
Web servers
Web browsers
Server software
Web authoring tools
Database System
TCP/IP Addresses
Ports
Protocols
Domain names

The software interacts with the hardware infrastructure as well as the processor, memory, storage,
input/output and other communication ports. There are different types of server software s which are
available to but all focus their primary objective on using the built in computer capacity and resources.
Cuckoo will not need a cloud based server as they are a small business which will not need to access
their document from any computer but their own. However they will need a virtual server software in
order to keep track of appointments, suppliers, receipts, customer information and etc.
Web authoring tools make it possible to create and design web pages in ease as it requires to be less
technical to make. These include software applications such as Dreamweaver and Microsoft Front
Page. Cuckoo can use these software s to create their own web pages however it will give off a less
professional look if using Dreamweaver if they would like to save on money. However if they are
experienced and know of other web authoring tools to make web pages, then it can benefit them
graciously. On the whole, Cuckoo will not need this as it does not hold much significance if they have
not created the website themselves.
Database system on e commerce website organises all of the data on a computer system which is a
back end storing the catalogue of products, customer records and other business information. The
software which is used is similar to another application known as

Lord Of The Flies Evil Vs Evil
The evil within the novel of the Lord of the Flies can compare to many past and modern evils within
society. Although, the evils within the attack on Pearl Harbor are the most closely compared and
relevant to the characters and actions within the novel the Lord of the Flies. In the Lord of the Flies
one of the main characters, Jack and his partner Roger have an evil desire to become more powerful
than Ralph. One example of evil within the book is how Jack strives to gain power over the group of
young boys. He attempts to gain this power in an evil manner, by killing the significant children from
the group that opposes him. This evil that Jack displays is also resembled in the attack on Pearl
Harbor, in the way that the Japanese indicated their

Descriptive Essay On High School Band
As I cautiously make my way down the corridor on my first day of school I hear a strange noise
escaping one of the rooms. Although it sounds like a jumbled mess of instruments I am intrigued, it is
the band room and I know I ll be entering there soon. What I was not aware of is how deeply being a
part of high school band would shape me as a person. Looking back on that time is almost surreal
considering that I know have been in band up to senior year, have been a section leader, and learning
more instruments than one.
Being a part of band has shown me that I am always part of something much larger than myself. It is
not always about me, and that is okay. Sometimes you re playing the melody or moving lines and
sometimes you re just playing a bunch of half notes. Learning this fact took a while because for a long
time when directors would say that my section wasn t important I would feel almost.... offended? But
after almost eight years of playing in the band I have learned that it is okay to not be the most
important person in the room. In fact, it is often more fulfilling to be the one that helps lift that person
up.
Even the most important person in the room messes up and I have now seen that nobody is perfect.
Even the greatest player messes up on 16th note runs or have trouble counting lines. Band has taught
me that you shouldn t feel horrible about making mistakes, in fact you should embrace them. My
favorite quote is if you re going to mess up, own it , you should own

`` Night `` By Elie Wiesel
Robert Shapiro, an American civil litigator once said, To me, the Holocaust stands alone as the most
horrible human event in modern civilization, The Holocaust, a genocide led by Adolf Hitler, killed six
million jews, and dramatically affected the whole world. The memoir Night, written by Elie Wiesel
describes the brutality Wiesel experienced during the Holocaust, and how life changing it was.
Although some may believe the memoir written by Elie Wiesel was titled Night because he was forced
to leave his home during the night, Wiesel illustrates Jews losing hope, faith, and happiness through
the symbol of Night, to prove that the memoir was titled Night to symbolize the darkness the
holocaust created. The first darkness that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wiesel then gave up, he figured there was no longer a chance that he could be saved which again led
to darkness. Is this example, the darkness the night brings symbolises loss of hope, and becoming
closer to death. Once Wiesel gave up trying, and claimed it was over, the light in his life got slightly
dimmer, and he became closer to death. The next reason Night was the title of the memoir written by
Wiesel was because the darkness in night symbolized death. Thousands of Jews were sentenced to
death each day, leaving everybody a little more hurt and broken. The first example of death, that helps
portray the title of Night, is in the quote, Was there a single place here where you were not in danger
of death? (Wiesel 37). In this quote, Wiesel shows how dangerous and recurrent death was and bases
the title off of these dangerous, mass killings. Darkness commonly symbolizes death, and the pain and
suffering one feels being exposed to it. The symbol also helps show that the killings were not normal,
they were darker like the night, more evil and inhumane than anything they had previously
experienced. The title Night, symbolizes the darkness during this painful event, and the darkness
universally symbolizes evil. So by using the title Night, Wiesel is able to indirectly explain how
inhumane these mass killings really are. Another quote that shows the title is used to symbolize

Scientology may be one of the strangest religions in the world. Due to this, Scientology has experienced intolerance since it was first founded in 1954. Religious intolerance is a social issue, consequently affecting every level of the religious community, from the followers to the conductors of Scientology. Even though numerous people view Scientology as a cult or fraudulent religion, or believe that the religion is so small and the beliefs so strange it can simply be written off, hence the intolerance ignored, Religious intolerance is a problem for Scientology because Only one side of the argument is broadcasted, so Scientology receives immense amounts of hate, simply due to the fact they believe differently than many other people. • 4. A Study A Year After The Repeal Of Dadt A study by the Palm Center, a research branch from the University of California Los Angeles Law School, conducted a study a year after the repeal of DADT. The research group wanted to discover what impacts the repeal has done to the military and according to their findings they concluded: (1) The repeal of DADT has had no overall negative impact on military readiness or its component dimensions, including cohesion, recruitment, retention, assaults, harassment or morale. (2) A comparison of 2011 pre repeal and 2012 post repeal survey data shows that service members reported the same level of military readiness after DADT repeal as before it. (3) Even in those units that included openly LGB service members, and that consequently should have been the most likely to experience a drop in cohesion as a result of repeal, cohesion did not decline after the new policy of open service was put into place. In fact, greater openness and honesty resulting from repeal seem to have promoted increased understanding, respect and acceptance. (4) Recruitment was unaffected by the repeal of DADT. In an era when enlistment standards are tightening, service wide recruitment has remained robust. (5) Retention was unaffected by the repeal of DADT. There was no mass exodus of military members as a result of repeal, and there were only two verifiable resignations linked to the policy change, both military chaplains. Service members were as likely to say that they plan to re enlist after DADT repeal as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He is a two faced and cunning character. His uses his cunning personality to persuade other characters to participate in his plans, whether they are aware of it or not. He plays on their weakness to greater achieve his goal. Iago s role as the villain is a necessary one as even though the focus of the play in supposedly on Othello, it revolves around Iago and his plans. The play is essentially told by Iago. The other characters display a level of trust that he readily takes advantage of. His façade of a nice person is only seen by the other characters. In fact, he uses this façade to only give the other characters what they want to hear. An example of this is Iago telling Cassio that reputation is nothing, yet turning around and telling Othello that reputation is everything. The other side of him is only shown to the reader per his asides. In his asides, Iago primarily tries to win over the reader by expressing the reasons for behavior. Almost as if he is trying to make excuses for the reason he wants them dead. He also shifts the blame away from himself as he tries to dismiss his comments as something that shouldn t be taken literally. Iago s attempts to advocate his view to the point that he even starts to believe what he is saying is the truth. • 7. Analysis Of The Article Simultaneity Of Oppression Midterm Response Discuss and critically analyze the simultaneity of oppression if one group is oppressed, can anybody be free? In the schematic hierarchy of race and sex, is the dominant group free, at the expense of the oppressed groups, or unfree, even if materially empowered? Does it make sense to argue that white women are freer, or less free, than black men ? The concept of the simultaneity of oppression is relatively unknown, even within today s modern society. While there are surely a multitude of reasons for its obscurity, it is likely due to the somewhat counterintuitive idea the phrase itself suggests. It sounds ignorant to argue that oppression simultaneously affects both the oppressor and the victim. However, this isn t an entirely accurate understanding of the concept; rather, the simultaneity of oppression refers to the idea that if one group is oppressed, no group is truly free. Although this still labels the oppressors as a marginalized group, when rephrased, the concept is slightly more palatable. Before further examining what exactly the simultaneity of oppression is and analyzing its effects, it s critical to make a key distinction. Though the simultaneity of oppression certainly exists, it does not necessarily exist as an equal oppression to both sides. This distinction may be helpful in understanding with the seemingly counterintuitive concept and will be discussed in greater detail below. The simultaneity of oppression is largely ... The Raramuri are a nomadic Native American tribe in the Copper Canyons of Mexico. Their entire culture revolves solely around running. The natives travel on foot from Chihuahua, Mexico to the Copper Canyons, a journey of over 600 miles. The name Raramuri literally means the light footed one. The strategies that the Raramuri use to survive develop who they are, how they stay separate from the world, and how they can run for so long. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Psychology Mosko (2007, p. 7), neuroimaging techniques have enabled researchers to discover discriminating patterns in the neuroanatomical function and structure in the brains of ADHD patients. The neurobiological aspect of the research has mostly focused on studying the fronto striatal system, which controls responses to environmental stimuli. The fronto striatal system is comprised of a complex cortical and subcortical nuclei matrix and performs the functions of controlling attention and processing speed of stimuli that elicits behavioural response. According to Psychology Mosko (2007), the findings of the neuroimaging studies related to ADHD have concluded that people affected by the disorder consistently exhibit abnormal basal ganglia, frontal lobes, cerebella, and corpus callosa (p.7). Consequently, with each of these parts differently influenced by the prefrontal lobes, behaviour that is normally internally guided is affected. Additional studies have found that ADHD patients exhibit dysfunctions in their neural circuitry in which frontal lobes, cerebella, cingulated cortex, and striatum are involved. There is ample evidence which points to the vital roles that each of these regions play in memory and learning, controlling attention, coordinating and sequencing behavioural responses (Psychology Mosko, 2007, p. 7). • 20. Appeasement In The 1930s The British and French policy of appeasement in the 1930s towards Adolf Hitler and Germany is historically viewed as a feeble attempt to avoid war. In their essay, Wishful Thinking or Buying Time? The Logic of British Appeasement in the 1930s, Norrin M. Rispsman and Jack S. Levy analyze appeasement purely as a tool of statecraft, and not under what circumstances appeasement can be a successful policy. They argue that appeasement is not only used to reduce the possibility of war with an adversary, but it can be used to conserve resources against a more immediate threat, isolate an adversary, or to buy off time to build up a deterrence against that adversary (151). Prime Minister Neville Chamberlin and his cabinet realized that Germany s military could severely damage Britain s economic position, and that Britain did not have the financial reserves for an immediate rearmament program that was not implemented over time (168). Also, Chamberlin s government recognized the threats posed by Japan and Italy as well, and realized that they needed to potentially safeguard British interests from simultaneous attacks (168). While Chamberlin later would prioritize rearmament over other factors as the German threat grew, it furthers the authors point of appeasement not being a naïve strategy, but one based on a logical understanding of Britian towards its circumstances, and trying to make those circumstances favorable. Of course, this chain of historical events all led to the famous Munich conference. There, Ripsman and Levy argue that Chamberlin advocated for concessions with the hopes of speeding up Britain s rearmament program and securing a common front with Italy to balance against Germany (174). Cosimo was not bound to one tree though; he was able to travel to many parts of Ombrosa by tree, and lead a very adventurous and full life. In the closing paragraphs Biagio states trees seem almost to have no right here since my brother left or since they have been swept by this frenzy for the ax. According to The Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia Lombardy is now the chief commercial, industrial, and financial center in Italy, and Lombardy is the country s leading industrial region. This would explain why people decided to cut down the trees in order to help make way for the growing economy. Cosimo s relationship with the trees was not just a place to live, but more than that. He cared for the trees and protected them as much as he possibly could, as if he were defending a friend or family member. Sir Gawain, one of the finest Arthurian romances, is an accurate representation of the code of chivalry, bravery. Granted these characters are not alike in their actions, they do both display bravery and loyalty in one way or another. Sir Gawain and Beowulf are both brave and loyal, showing these qualities by taking on seemingly impossible tasks. The next terrace Dante goes to is for the avaricious or the greedy. They are flat on their faces, their gaze fixed on Earth, and their backs to heaven. However, this country is constantly consumed with healthcare related issues and people not being covered by health insurance, though it would seem in some cases the federal government is to blame for that. Geoffrey R. Stone states the Supreme Court has long recognized that the government can never lawfully treat one group of people worse than others because the majority deems that group immoral, depraved, unworthy or sinful according to God s principles. If this were so then marriage would have to re defined to exclude other immoral unions, such as, convicted murders, child molesters, rapist, and adulterers. Some examination demonstrates that young ladies learn better when classroom temperature is warm, while young men perform better in cooler classrooms. • 29. Why Uranium Is Removed From The Oceans By Diffusion Across... Uranium is removed from the oceans by diffusion across the sediment water interface of organic rich sediments, and this pathway is the largest single sink in the global budget of this element (Anderson et al., 1989; Barnes and Cochran, 1990; Thomson et al., 1990; Lyons et al., 2002; Calvert et al., 2015). Klinkhammer and Palmer (1991) remark that the dissolved uranium is drawn into suboxic sediments along a concentration gradient established by the precipitation of an insoluble phase which forms when U6+ is reduced to U4+. They also mention that this transformation occurs relatively late in the diagenetic sequence, after the microbially mediated dissolution of manganese and iron oxides, and may be induced by the onset of sulfate reduction. Metallo organics play an important role in the diagenetic behavior of this element as some uranium is released into solution when labile organics are consumed at the sediment water interface (Thomson et al., 1990). In contrast, the diagenesis of authigenic Fe and Mn oxides exerts negligible influence on the uranium diagenetic cycle (Barnes and Cochran, 1989). Barnes and Cochran (1989) state that the variations in the uranium concentration of sediment with time are controlled directly by the uranium content of the source material settling from the water column, and indirectly, by the organic content of this material and the sedimentation rate. It describes the beginning of the process of Anglicization in a relatively remote Gaelic speaking area during the 1833 Survey of Ireland, in which the English mapped Ireland, both culturally and geographically. Years of concerted anglicizing of the Irish by the British early in the 19th century led to the widespread fall into disuse of the native Gaelic tongue. Hyde s speech argues that the Irish had by that point indiscriminately adopted all that was English with little thought as to its value, that the Irish had [ceased] to be Irish without becoming English. 2 He criticizes those Irish who claim to hate British dominance, yet speak only English, anglicize their Irish names, and remain ignorant of Gaelic literature. His central view is that the Gaelic language is the most important aspect of an Irish identity distinct to that of the British, and that only a return to Ireland s native language can halt the process of Anglicization. However, he is careful not to make the claim that nothing English is of value, but emphasizes the necessity of not neglecting that which is essentially Irish. The history of Ireland is one of early scholasticism and rich culture in times when the rest of Europe had less of a literary and artistic tradition. By the time of Hyde s speech, the nation had become one of the least studious and most un literary 3 countries of the area, and he claims that the fault lies in a divergence from the right path. 4 Progressive Anglicization has led the Irish to forget their own culture and its traditions. Slavery And The Making Of American Capitalism Jose Arciga Robert Dean History 110 11.10.15 Essay Prompt The Half Has Never Been Told :Slavery and the making of American Capitalism Back when America was being shaped, tobacco was the main slave produced trade in the colonies. Plantations all across the south had a majority of the slaves from Africa brought here on ships. Forced to work for their slave owners. Tobacco wasn t the only booming business. Cotton soon came into the picture, the north was a more industrial economy, while the south remained agricultural. The most important economic development in the mid 19th century was the shift from the upper south to lower south. The upper south relied on tobacco , it was very unstable , and the land was used. So the shift to cotton was a necessity. Slavery was huge in america, and it even lead to a civil war, it lasted a very long time, from 1619 1865. We still struggle with slavery today because we still struggle with its legacy. Without cotton the north would not have been able to industrialize, at least not as quickly because cotton textiles were one of the first industrially produced products and the most important commodity in world trade by the 19th century. Almost every plantation owner bought slaves. The south was so plowed into slaves there was little room for technological advances, like railroads, I think the south sucked at the civil war thing because of that reason. In short slavery dominated the south, shaping it both economically and culturally. It s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In 1951, Baldwin wrote Sonny s Blues, a story of the ills that Harlem provided its youth. In Baldwin s telling of the narration, it forms a nous of liberation, an atmosphere of therapeutic acceptance for the author, in which Baldwin develops to express his own state through his virtuoso of storytelling. Date : 03 March 2012 Programme : BTECH MANAGEMENT IV Question 1 Explain how the development of strategy at the LEGO Group reflect the key characteristics of strategic management outlined in section 1.2 and in the model in Figure 1.4? Strategy is the long term direction of an organization (Johnson, Whittington and Scholes, 2011, p.3). The LEGO Group started with the manufacture of stepladders, ironing boards, stools and wooden toys and has grown into one of the top five toy makers in the world (Johnson, Whittington and Scholes, 2011). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Due to heavy financial losses and a weak capital structure affecting investment opportunities, the Lego Group had to look within to find a path forward (Johnson, Whittington and Scholes, 2011). The company had remained a family run firm for most of it`s history and by Kjeld reinforcing his responsibility as CEO, it sent a clear signal that the family was behind the company. By divesting in LEGOLAND parks, writing off other assets and simplifying the corporate structure, this allowed the LEGO Group to focus on it`s core business. Attention was directed towards resolving distribution problems and getting closer to retailers in order to understand their sales to end customers. Focus was placed on cutting costs and the entire procurement process was revised, resulting in fewer suppliers and significant cost reductions. Supply chain management philosophy changed from outsourced management, to in house management. This strategy allowed for flexibility and the ability to react to short term changes in customer demand as a priority over cost (Johnson, Whittington and Scholes, 2011). Research shows that play and the use of toys like LEGO can aid a child`s development immensely. It helps with basic spatial awareness and colour recognition, but also stimulates a child`s creative and imaginative thinking (Block Toys, 2011). However, a rapidly evolving society, leaning more towards electronic games, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Most of us have looted the neighborhoods, supply stores, and campsites. Most people take refuge in the neighborhoods to feel at home again. Some are settled in the cities, some are in the mountains. The smartest people move around according to environmental and manmade threats. I remember the day the TV in the soup kitchen I worked at was interrupted by a U.S. government message that went along the lines of We have spotted enemy aircrafts coming into United States territory. Fire spread across the nearby forests. I assume they were using Napalm against us. Of course I didn t tell anyone, we re all already scared enough. In fact, I kept most of my thoughts to myself. If the people living at the camp sites survived the carbon monoxide and fire, they d come down here. Knowing the way people are in these times, anyone seeking refuge would take anything by force. There are different types of server software s which are available to but all focus their primary objective on using the built in computer capacity and resources. Cuckoo will not need a cloud based server as they are a small business which will not need to access their document from any computer but their own. However they will need a virtual server software in order to keep track of appointments, suppliers, receipts, customer information and etc. Web authoring tools make it possible to create and design web pages in ease as it requires to be less technical to make. These include software applications such as Dreamweaver and Microsoft Front Page. Cuckoo can use these software s to create their own web pages however it will give off a less professional look if using Dreamweaver if they would like to save on money. However if they are experienced and know of other web authoring tools to make web pages, then it can benefit them graciously. On the whole, Cuckoo will not need this as it does not hold much significance if they have not created the website themselves. Database system on e commerce website organises all of the data on a computer system which is a back end storing the catalogue of products, customer records and other business information. • 50. Descriptive Essay On High School Band As I cautiously make my way down the corridor on my first day of school I hear a strange noise escaping one of the rooms. Although it sounds like a jumbled mess of instruments I am intrigued, it is the band room and I know I ll be entering there soon. What I was not aware of is how deeply being a part of high school band would shape me as a person. Looking back on that time is almost surreal considering that I know have been in band up to senior year, have been a section leader, and learning more instruments than one. Being a part of band has shown me that I am always part of something much larger than myself. It is not always about me, and that is okay. Sometimes you re playing the melody or moving lines and sometimes you re just playing a bunch of half notes. Learning this fact took a while because for a long time when directors would say that my section wasn t important I would feel almost.... offended? But after almost eight years of playing in the band I have learned that it is okay to not be the most important person in the room. In fact, it is often more fulfilling to be the one that helps lift that person up. Even the most important person in the room messes up and I have now seen that nobody is perfect. Even the greatest player messes up on 16th note runs or have trouble counting lines. Band has taught me that you shouldn t feel horrible about making mistakes, in fact you should embrace them. My favorite quote is if you re going to mess up, own it , you should own ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The memoir Night, written by Elie Wiesel describes the brutality Wiesel experienced during the Holocaust, and how life changing it was. Although some may believe the memoir written by Elie Wiesel was titled Night because he was forced to leave his home during the night, Wiesel illustrates Jews losing hope, faith, and happiness through the symbol of Night, to prove that the memoir was titled Night to symbolize the darkness the holocaust created. The first darkness that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Wiesel then gave up, he figured there was no longer a chance that he could be saved which again led to darkness. Is this example, the darkness the night brings symbolises loss of hope, and becoming closer to death. Once Wiesel gave up trying, and claimed it was over, the light in his life got slightly dimmer, and he became closer to death. The next reason Night was the title of the memoir written by Wiesel was because the darkness in night symbolized death. Thousands of Jews were sentenced to death each day, leaving everybody a little more hurt and broken. The first example of death, that helps portray the title of Night, is in the quote, Was there a single place here where you were not in danger of death? (Wiesel 37). In this quote, Wiesel shows how dangerous and recurrent death was and bases the title off of these dangerous, mass killings. Darkness commonly symbolizes death, and the pain and suffering one feels being exposed to it. The symbol also helps show that the killings were not normal, they were darker like the night, more evil and inhumane than anything they had previously experienced. The title Night, symbolizes the darkness during this painful event, and the darkness universally symbolizes evil. So by using the title Night, Wiesel is able to indirectly explain how inhumane these mass killings really are. Another quote that shows the title is used to symbolize ...
