Family Health History
Individuals that know and understand their family s health history are more prepared to change,
adjust, and plan strategies that reduce their risk of developing and susceptibility to genetic diseases
and other health ailments. I will reflect on the history, health problems, and risks of genetic
diseases present for each familymember throughout three generations. Advancements in genetic
scientific research may predict an individual s susceptibility to diseases and health ailments and
may encourage behavioral changes to reduce this risk (Collins, Ryan, Truby, 2014, p. 480).
Questions, interventions, answers, and strategies will be presented throughout this paper to ensure

Comparison of Neurological Assessment Tools Gcs Avpu and Four
An assessment of the level of consciousness (LOC) should be carried out during the primary
survey of all patients, using the ABCDE approach Cole (2009: 28). Any initial or subsequent
reduction in the LOC of the patient may be caused by hypoxia; hypovolaemia; head injury; drug or
medicine use; hypoglycaemia; hypothermia or alcohol ingestion (Cole, 2009:44).
An assessment of the LOC of the patient is vital for an accurate pain assessment and the
administration of analgesia, and the subsequent assessment of its efficacy (Rose, et al. 2011).
Regular evaluation of a patient s LOC helps detect the onset of hypothermia and hypovolaemia.

Staff assessing these patients found themselves recording GCS scores lower than what they felt was
appropriate.
Since the GCS became widely adopted and its use became expanded beyond the original intention
of the scale, certain additional limitations have been identified (Laureys, 2005). Verbal responses
become difficult or impossible to assess when patients have been sedated or intubated (Majerus,
2005).
Some clinicians feel that scoring eye opening is not sufficient to indicate brainstem arousal and a
number of coma scales have been proposed that include brainstem reflexes, most of them more
complex than the GCS scale (Majerus, 2005). The Glasgow LiГЁge scale is the simplest variation
proposed (Born, et al., 1982). It combines the GCS with five brainstem reflexes, but has not been
widely implemented outside Belgium, its country of origin (Laureys, 2005).
Finally, the remaining weaknesses of the GCS scale relate to the assessment of comatose patients.
The GCS becomes unreliable in ongoing care for monitoring coma and recovery through vegetative
or minimally conscious states, before returning to consciousness (Laureys, 2005).
The main advantage of the GCS is its simplicity, allowing it to be utilised by the full range of
clinicians, with a minimal amount of training (Matis, 2008).

Disadvantages Of Political Dynasty
Political dynasty is a well known method of politicians in the Philippines wherein the members of
the family been made also a member of the government in order for them to not lose power but gain
more power. This act abides an unfair and unjust for the reason that the government is not a
business that a family can run by themselves, but the governmentis for all and other people should
be given chances wherein they can be the one that leads a community. The government or politics
is not a business that can be run by generation and generation of a family the government
comprises a critical part of a community having different leaders in every generation and not only
one leader that has his or her family in the position of the government cause the system will not
change it will just proceed constantly... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The other disadvantage of this is once a family starts having political dynasty they will thirst for
dominance they would harbor more power in their family they would want to dominate the society
and considering of that attitude it will lead to the fall of the society and its people. According to
Angela Casauay, The House Bill 3587 or the act prohibiting the Establishment of Political
Dynasties seeks to prohibit relatives and according to Jan Danelle A. Patindol, up to the second

The Role Of Professional Networking And How It Can Assist...
Career Development: Networking Networking is an important part of career development and
has been around for a many years. However, how individuals network has changed dramatically
over the last few years with the inventions of social media sites like LinkedIn and Facebook. This
paper will discuss the role of professional networking and how it can assist with career
development.
Networking
Professional networking is about making and maintaining relationships with individuals who could
benefit one s career. By talking with individuals, getting to know more about them and their
professional position, learning about their jobs and career experiences, and maintaining the
relationships are all part of networking (PSU, 2015). There are multiple ways to network; individual
face to face communication, through social media sites like LinkedIn and Facebook, or through
professional organizations. One type of networking is used to gain information and knowledge
about a particular career or job. For a student or someone who is changing career paths, just
getting to know an individual in a position that is being sought is networking. Being able to garner
information about that person s experiences may be sufficient for the individual to know if that is
a career path they want to follow, or conversely, the information gained may be sufficient enough
for the individual to know that it is a path they are no longer interested in (PSU, 2015). Networking

Analysis Of Elephant In The Village Of The Blind
The Prodigal Son , The Boy who Cried Wolf , or The Mouse and the Lion are all stories that are
commonly well known, however few people recognize them as parables. The parable is a figure
of speech characterized by a short narrative, in prose or verse, full of symbols, allegory, and
analogy to convey a moral or religious message. The word parable comes from the Greek language
and means comparison, illustration, analogy . The two thousand years old Buddhist story The
Elephant in the Village of the Blind portraying simple story, demonstrating universal moral, and
using symbols and analogy is the evident representative of the parable. To start with, the narrative

The Elephant in the Village of the Blind shows us that in life, we frequently attempt to
comprehend the world around us by the way we see it. Nevertheless, our understanding is
limited by our experiences, knowledge, beliefs, moral systems, education, opinions, influence of
others, etc. In this sense, we are metaphorically blind , as are the villagers. For this reason, some
people in the story saw the animal as a fringed rope (line 13) and others as a cool, smooth stuff
(line 14), which is clear juxtaposition. Moreover, when we are not familiar with something we are
trying to define it, before fully understanding it. The clear moral of this parable is that we rarely
see the things as they are, we see the things as we are. Additionally, using analogy and many
symbols, parable contrasts human behavior in the story and human behavior in the larger
perspective. Parable is often identified with fable, but whereas parable uses people as main
characters, fable uses animals personifications. In the discussed story, the main character is the
elephant. As noted, the animal is in the center of the narration, but the elephant doesn t personify
human beings. The author(s) chose the elephant in this story, because it s exotic, huge, and unlike
all other animals. The elephant in this parable is the symbol of unknown. We often face against
elephants in our lives. The challenge, as mentioned in the earlier paragraph, is not to judge the

The Divine Timeless Eternity Theory Essay
The divine timeless eternity theory is the traditional view pertaining to God and time, but it is by
no means the only theory, as there are at least four. My original intention was to compare two
views in relation to this topic, however, the complexity of the dialogue has proven difficult.
Therefore, I will discuss one theory in depth since I believe it will suffice. In this framework, I
will discuss the challenges and varying beliefs with the ideas involved. The goal of my paper is to
understand the doctrine of eternityand find how this changes my understanding of God. Then I will
discuss how this issue influences my approach to God, and to my ministry. First, however, I will
explain the need to uncover the idea of eternalism. We will now proceed.
Why might one explore the idea of how God functions in time? It is extremely difficult to ignore
questions after they have been asked. Historically, questions have been the cause of councils and
creeds that now exist as essential dogmas of the Christian faith. Without questioning, what is real
and what actually exists? The difference can only be distinguished by those who question. While it
might not be explicitly stated, the idea of eternalism is biblical. The theology of the trinity was a
similar idea, where no single passage gives enough evidence to a triune God, but with a proper
understanding of the biblical narrative, there is enough truth to discover such a characteristic of
God s nature. In congruence of this thought,

Reducing Cost A successful business is always looking for ways to reduce its costswhile increasing
its revenues. Several recommendations are made for Will Bury that will aid in reducing costs.
He can allow his employees to work from home. This will prevent overhead costs by avoiding
the costs associated with renting office space. Another recommendation is that Will Bury
negotiate the price for royalties to a lower rate as his product becomes more popular.
Assumptions and Recommendations Assumptions were made while determining
recommendations for Will Bury. It is assumed that he is running a monopoly and that he owns
the patent to the technology he is using. If so these are barriers to entry for others. Another
assumption is that Will Bury will hire a full time employee who works 40 hours per week
without benefits. It is also assumed that the cost of the current website Will is using is $100 per
month and that it would only cost $500 to build a new digitizer. It is recommend that Will Bury
hire an employee from the United States to allow for his oversight and to avoid any issues that lack
of involvement in this crucial stage of business may bring about. I also recommend that the price
for both the lapsed copyright material and the copyrighted material remain at the current price while
increasing marketing. The increased sales generated from the increased marketing

The Effects Of Stress On The World
On the topic of stress, research has widened eyes on the issues of stress because stress is related
to how many hours one is spending away from family or friends. In America, it was customary
that people work long hours. In the U.S., 85.8 percent of males and 66.5 percent of females work
more than 40 hours per week (G.E. Miller). But for many Americans, more work leads to more
stressand a lower quality of life. This amount of stress is not only known to the United States of
America, it is actually culturally extended to other parts of the world. At least 134 countries have
laws setting the maximum length of the work week; the U.S. does not (G.E. Miller). In Japan

US are trending downward. Nearly three quarters of the people surveyed said they had stressed

money most or all of the time. Stress levels are decreasing, but that still leaves more than half of
workers stressed. No matter how low stress levels decrease, people will always have stress.

violence both physical and verbal and its effect on its victim Stanley the protagonist of the play.
Stanley is an artist who has isolated himself from a totalitarian state or organization for reasons left
undisclosed in the playby Pinter. Since Pinter as a Jew grew up during the time of the Holocaust
and the Second World War, Stanley seems to represent the author s existential anxiety. It can be

I don t think it is all that surrealistic and curious because surely this thing, of people arriving at the
door, has been happening in Europe in the last twenty years. (qtd. in Esslin 36)
This knock at the door is suggestive of the trepidation and helplessness felt by the Jewish
communities in Europe on account of the genocide triggered during the Nazi regime. The knocking
device is also indicative of an entry into the world of the abject to destroy its threatening
physiognomies and to force it to conform to the prevailing norms and standards of the society.
When the door is opened two mysterious emissaries, Goldberg and McCann enter and along with
them enters the menace which destabilizes the miserable apathy of the boarding house and Stanley s
initial hostile melancholy transitions later into a nervous breakdown. Goldberg and McCann who
represent an unnamed organization come to the boarding house to do a job. Pinter as usual does not
tell the readers what their job actually is and what the organization stands for. He deliberately
leaves out the details so that the readers can question the legality and sanctity of the building blocks
of all organizations social, political, cultural etc. Likewise Pinter does not give any information
about Stanley s past. Though the present is an outcome of past contemplations and actions, Pinter
does not reveal the past as he wants the audience to think about the various

The resilience methodology seeks to build on strengths and strengthen the supports and
opportunities of the child. Resilience plays a vital role in assisting a child in settling into a new
placement, without experiencing major emotional difficulties. Three factors that promote resilience
are secure base, Self esteem and Self efficacy(Grotberg, 2000). These can be influenced by positive
experiences on a daily basis, some which will be highlighted throughout the assignment.
Resilience in an individual refers to successful adaptation, despite the risk and adversity. The
manner in which Matson 2004 defines resilience is very clear to me, as I can relate and reflect
this to one particular girl that resided in the care centre I worked. Throughout the young girl s
childhood, she developed an insecure and ambivalent attachment to both her parents, as a result of
their hectic lifestyle of substance misuse. At a young age her father died from the HIV viruses,
which lead her mother in becoming depressed and profoundly dependant on drugs. Due to the
mother s dependency, she was unable to respond accordingly to the girls needs, given very mixed
and inconsistent responses. At the age of 10, due to extreme neglect, the young girl was removed
from her mothers care and entered the care setting. Over the years the young girl had experienced
several placement breakdowns, and at 13 was admitted to a residential centre. During this time she

PTSD and its Affects on the Human Body
PTSD and its Affects on the Human Body
My girlfriend s brother, Mary served in the Marines for four years. In those four years, he made
three combat tours and four other small deployments. During his first trip to Iraq, he was severely
injured in a land mine accident. He was the only one out of the other three soldiers in the tank that
survived. The accident left him with a severe brain injury and partly blind in his left eye. Mary
was in an Iraqi hospital for about two weeks. He then decided to continue with his duty of being
of Marine. This accident, along with losing close friends, and seeing others die, has left him
traumatized. Although, his PTSD is not as severe as other solders, it still affects him in his day to
day activities.
PTSD stands for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. According to a medical dictionary, PTSD is a
debilitating psychological condition triggered by a major traumatic, such as war, death of a loved
one, a natural disaster, or rape . It is triggered by upsetting memories or thoughts of the incident. For
example; Veterans returning home from a war often have PTSD.
The cause of PTSD is unknown. The factors involved are psychological, genetic, physical, and
social. Post traumatic stress disorder changes the body s response to stress. It affects the stress
hormones and chemicals that carry information between the nerves. It is not known why traumatic
events cause PTSD in some people and not others. But studies have shown that having a

The Serial Peripheral Interphase
The Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) is a synchronous bi directional (full duplex) serial data
protocol used by microcontrollers to enable communication between one or more peripheral
devices that are all of short distances to one another. Furthermore, it can also be used for
communication between two microcontrollers; with particular interest between Arduino boards
and Multiwii flight controllers. In general, an SPI data link consists of one master; typically a
microcontroller which controls one or more peripheral devices known as slaves. Both the
master and the slaves share three common lines which include; MISO (Master In Slave Out)
which is responsible for transferring data from the slave to the master; MOSI (Master Out Slave
In) which is responsible for transferring data from the master to the slaves; and SCK (Serial
Clock) which is created by the master and is responsible for synchronising the transmission of
data between master and slave in respect clock pulses. There is also SS (Slave Select) line that
is specific to a pin on each slave device and in which the master can use to enable and disable
specific slave devices. In the case a slave device s SS pin is low, communication is enabled with
the master. However in the case it is high, communication is disabled with the master. This allows
multiple devices using SPI to share common MISO, MOSI, and CLK lines. Full duplex data
transmission occurs during each clock cycle generated by the master in which the master

Sexual Response Cycles
Men and women all go through sexual response cycles. The response cycle occurs in both sexes
in four phases. They are excitement, plateau, orgasm, and resolution. The first phase, excitement
can come from different things such as kissing, sexual thoughts, erotic videos or pictures, all of
which can lead to arousal. During this phase, the body is preparing for intercourse. For both
men and women, excitement causes similar changes to their bodies such as nipples and
earlobes swelling. Muscle tension, heart rate, blood pressure, and blood flow increases. With
these changes, it can lead to heavier breathing as well as a change in color to skin, commonly
referred to as being flushed . While both men and women experience increased blood flow, the
increase in blood flow causes different things between each sex. Men will experience an erection
in the penis whereas women will experience swelling in the clitoris and labia. Also, women s
breasts can swell but men will not experience the same swelling. The next phase, plateau, is before
the orgasm. It causes our bodies to react in different ways, much of which is a continuation of the
excitement phase, such as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Meredith Monk Minimalism
David Carrillo TA: Joshua Bauder
Meredith Monk, Early Morning Melody
Early Morning Melody by Meredith Monk is a song with many minimalistic aspects. Repetition
and isolation of the human voice are two examples of it. (26 words)
The short song Early Morning Melody by Meredith Monk has a beautiful melody that repeats four
times with the third time having one different note. The repetition of this melody ironically does
not feel redundant, as the listener is likely to have mental pictures on how they interpret the
song. For example, thinking of how someone would really sing this for an early morning activity,
like taking a shower or cooking. Another image that may come to the listener s mind could be a
much sadder scene: perhaps a song for a funeral, or how the use of repetition could simbolize a lack
of direction. (105 words) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While some believe the correct use of minimalism has some of the most profound and powerful
ways of communicating a message or a mental image, others find it too abstract, simplistic or
even boring. The short piece Early Morning Melody by the American composer, Meredith
Monk, utilizes minimalistic tools to evoke many emotions and reactions from the listeners. The
use of a solo voice and repetition of a simple, yet touching melody are two examples of how the
minimalism is displayed. The melody is repeated a total of four times and only the third has a
small difference, so minuscule that it is literally just one note that is different. It should also be
noted that the unique note could even be in the same harmonic progression of the passage. This is
clearly done on purpose and, as explained earlier, leads to as many interpretations as the amount of

Describe The Relationship Between Acid And Carbonic Acid
The acid balance must be regulated with a range of 7.35 and 7.45 in order for the body to function
normally. A pH of below 7.35 is considered acidic and a pH of above 7.45 is considered alkaline or
basic. Body acids exist in two forms; volatile and nonvolatile acids. Volatile acids can be eliminated
as CO2, usually known as carbonic acid, which is a weak acid. Nonvolatile acids can be eliminated
by the kidneys, example are sulfuric and phosphoric. These acids are strong compared to volatile
acids.
When there are changes in pH (can be an increase in hydrogen ion or decrease) there are different
buffer systems that can help to regulate the pH, such as; the carbonic acid bicarbonate buffer,
protein buffer and renal buffer. Buffers absorb the excess hydrogen ion or hydroxyl ion and prevent

The carbonic acid bicarbonate buffer is a major extracellular buffer, that operates in both the lungs
and kidneys. The lungs acts as a second defense responding quickly by decreasing the amount of
carbonic acid by blowing off carbon dioxide and leaving water. The kidneys acts as a third
defense talking a little longer to respond (hours to days versus seconds to minutes with the lungs).
The kidneys reabsorb bicarbonate or regenerate bicarbonate from carbon dioxide and water. These
two systems work very effectively together because the lungs can adjust acid concentration rapidly
by ventilation and bicarbonate is easily absorbed or regenerated by kidneys tubules, although more
slowly. The way the renal and respiratory systems adjust to primary changes in pH are known as
compensation. The respiratory system compensates for changes in pH by increasing or decreasing
the concentration of carbon dioxide by changing ventilation. The renal system compensates by
producing more acidic or more alkaline urine. The protein buffer system is both extracellular and
intracellular,

The society wants everyone to be same and Harrison who was a teenager that was beyond
average was made by the government to be equal like the rest of the community but they failed to
hold him down. The government saw Harrison as a threat to their forced equality doctrine. The
government through the Handicapper General altered the strength, beauty and intelligence of its
people so that everyone in the community could be equal mentally, physically and socially by
torturing them. The beautiful people were forced to wear hideous masks in order to cover their
faces, the strong were forced to carry weights in order to be equal with the weak and the intelligent
were forced to wear headsets and handicaps so as to interfere with their intelligent thoughts. It was a
society whereby the citizens were tortured in order to achieve physical, mental and intellectual
equality among all Americans. Those who did not wear handicaps were severely punished by the
government as they were under surveillance throughout.
The society in Harrison Bergeron is deprived of its rights to social independence. The people are

Freak The Mighty Chapter 3 Paragraphs
I never had a brain until Freak came along... Max This summer I had the pleasure of reading
Freak The Mighty by Rodman Philbrick. It is a tale about 2 eighth graders that are best friends.
The main character, Max also referred to as Maxwell is much larger in height and weight
compared to other boys his age. Also, he is unintelligent and lazy. Kevin, known more as Freak, is
underheight and very smart. Their differences bind them together well and they become Freak The
Mighty.
Beginning Paragraph; Chapter 3; Page 13; Paragraph 5
What I do, I keep out of range of that crutch and just reach up and pick up the paper thing right
out of the tree. Except it s not a paper thing. It s a plastic bird, light as a feather. I have to hold it
real careful or it might break, that s how flimsy it is. This paragraph has great importance because it
starts the friendship with Max and Freak that makes the story. This started their friendship, and trust
for each other to help each other when needed. When ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If I don t know, then Freak will tell me and he ll say it in a way I can understand, which is a lot
better than Mrs. Donelli can do. So what I do, I just shrug and smile and wait, because I know
she ll get tired of asking and move on to the next. As a matter of fact I do know the answer the
reason Johnny Tremain got mad and hateful is because he burned his hand in a stupid accident
and I know about that because Freak has been showing me how to read a whole book and for some
reason it all makes sense, where before it was just a bunch of words I didn t care about. This
paragraph is important because it shows how strong Max and Freaks friendship is. In return for
Max guiding Freak around, Freak helps Max catch up on education. Where as before, Max wouldn t
read because it was just a bunch of words he didn t care about. Now since Freak is here to help,
Max actually reads books and understands

Character Analysis Of Alice s Adventures In Wonderland
As a child, I identified with a little blond girl named Alice from C. S. Lewis Alice s Adventures
In Wonderland . This story works as an agent of socialization because Alice s adventures parallel
the journey from childhood to adulthood as she comes into new situations in which adaptability is
absolutely necessary for success. In the beginning of the story, she can barely maintain enough
composure to keep herself from crying. By the end, she is self possessed and able to hold her own
against the most perplexing Wonderland logic. Symbols are utilized throughout the story and most
every character and situation seem to represent the challenges associated with growing up from
childhood to adulthood.

Next, she slips in a pool when she is tiny which is made up of her tears that she shed when she

with the White Rabbit. Mistaking her for his servant, the Rabbit sends her to his house. While
there Alice drinks another potion, and becomes too large to leave the house by the door. She
eventually finds a cake and eats it to make her small again. While in the woods, she meets
Caterpillar who is sitting on a large mushroom. The caterpillar gives her good advice and a piece
of mushroom which will make her smaller or bigger depending on which side she eats. Alice
continues through the woods and finds a little house and shrinks herself down enough to get inside.
Inside the house is the Duchess and the Cook who are fighting fiercely despite the fact that the
Duchess is nursing a baby. Alice takes the baby with her, but the child turns into a pig and runs off
into the woods. Alice next meets the Cheshire cat who helps her to find her way through the
woods, though he warns her that everyone she meets will be mad. Next Alice goes to the March
Hare s house, where she attends a Tea Party. The March Hare, the Hatter, and the Dormouse are
also guests at the party because ever since Time stopped working for the Hatter, it has always

Analysis Of Jeffrey Jerome Cohen s Monster Culture
Monster Culture (Seven Thesis)
By Jeffrey Jerome Cohen In this reading, Cohen proposes a sketch of a new modus legendi,
meaning, a method of reading cultures from the monsters they engender. (Monsters page 11) He
also says that he s going to break some rules from recent cultural studies. Now, Cohen offers seven
theses towards understanding cultures through monsters by their character, appearance and
representation, such as: Vampires, the Alien, Frankenstein, Werewolves, Grendel, the Boogey man,
and etc.
First Thesis pretty much says that monsters always are symbols and representations of culture. The
monster is born only at this metaphoric crossroads, as an embodiment of a certain cultural moment
of a time, a feeling and a place. (Monsters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Monsters are part of an imagination so they exist only to be read. (Monsters page 12) Second
Thesis says The monster always escapes. In this case the monster gets away with it too but this
monster damaged a lot of things that can t be undone. So the monster escapes meaning it is never
truly destroyed or defeated because there s always something it left behind. They can never be
caught but they can also return in a different form way to get back at those who tried to destroy
them. Third Thesis basically explains that monsters cannot be categorized in the animals or people.
As Cohen says they are disturbing hybrids whose externally incoherent bodies resist attempts to
include them in any systematic structuration. (Monsters page 14) Their physical and psychological
characteristics just don t fit in classification because they can be half human, half animal and may
have some other deforms. Fourth Thesis explains the monster is an outsider , they are different so
it depends on cultural, political racial economic, sexual. (Monsters page 16) Monsters have aspects.
The monster will always

Different Forms Of Division Of Labor By Emile Durkheim
Emile Durkheim, born in 1858 was an eminent proponent of Sociology from France, considered
to be one of the greatest in his field alongside Karl Marx and Max Weber. Durkheim aimed to
study society taking an evolutionary approach, keeping in mind that society is composed of
individuals. However, it was not essentially the aggregate sum of each individual s behavior,
actions and thoughts. Durkheim endeavored to understand transformation of society, from
traditional to modern, where solidarity changes from mechanical to organic because of the
phenomenon of division of labour . In this essay I will aim to explain first, how organic solidarity
came to existence because of increasing division of labour in society. To begin with I will take a
peek... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By the same standards it also contains fallacies which limit its appeal in contemporary world.
Firstly, Durkheim s account of organic solidarity seems positivist in that the division of labor does
not have negative effects at all. With great convenience Durkheim propagates the conditions
responsible for smooth functioning of organized societies in some idyllic place. To elaborate more
on this point, the society does not have the self regulating quality as implied by organic solidarity.
Durkheim s principle assumption was that collective conscience and individual conscience coupled
with the State would lead to organic solidarity. Although Durkheim tries to take account of this
nature of society through anomic division of labor yet his viewpoint on evils of unregulated
capitalism, commercial and industrial crises, class conflict, meaninglessness, alienated labor etc.
was very uncritical in nature. This observation was further strengthened when in his later works he
gradually parted away with evolutionary optimism which underpinned the mechanical, self
regulating conception of division of labor. Secondly, Durkheim does not seem to be concerned
about the ill effects of division of labor . On one hand mutual interdependence creates solidarity
which holds together societies, on the other in modern societies one is not able to sustain without
depending

Pros And Cons Of Grand Jury
In America s justice system, a grand jury is a group of citizens called to decide whether probable
cause exists to believe that a suspect committed the crime with which she or he has been charged
(Gaines G 4). In the Central District of California, prospective jurors who report and are not
excused or postponed, the JuryClerk will use a computer program to randomly select 23 members
and ten alternates for each grand jury. A grand jury designated investigatory meet for a 12 month
term, while a grand jury designated accusatory meets for a 6 month term. A grand jury has 23
members and meets once a week, always on the same weekday. Grand juries do not meet on
weekends or Mondays. The average workday is 5 hours. Absences for medical appointments,
vacations, graduations, etc. may be accommodated, but 16 members must be present for the grand
jury to conduct business. The grand jury serves the United States District Court, Central District of
California. In contrast, a trial jury is asked to reach a verdict based on the evidence presented
during a civil or criminal trial; a grand jury meets in secret to consider whether there is sufficient
evidence to justify a formal criminal charge against someone. That formal criminal charge is called
an indictment(Central).
San Bernardino County grand jury plays a distinctively different role in the judicial system. It is
composed of 19 persons (or 23 in counties with over 4 million residents) selected from a group of

Four Perfect Mate Traits
The four perfect mate traits
Everyone has their own idea of what the perfect mate is. Those who are ready to take
relationships seriously, think long and hard about the characteristics someone possesses before
they make commitments to them. Some may be looking for a spouse that will always make
them laugh, or someone who s a good listener. While both of those can be good traits to have, I
look at finding a spouse on a much deeper level. Here are the top four traits that are most
important to me. Although I am an open minded person and respectful of all views, my perfect
mate will have to have the same religious views as me. This is important to me, because I do take
Christianity seriously, and I want to be able to share that with my future ... Show more content on

When people first start dating, they have the spark , and always work extra hard to impress the
other. A lot of times, after they ve been together for years, they get comfortable and just stop
trying to do better, for their spouse but also for themselves. I want my mate and I to constantly
grow together and do our very best to be the best we can be. Lastly, as cheesy as it may sound, I
want him to be my hero. Yes, I said it, my hero. All of my life, I ve been very independent and
never the kind to ask for help. I want my mate to know me for the stubborn, hard headed woman
that I am, and swoop in and lend a hand whenever I need it without even being asked. He doesn t
have to be superman, he doesn t have to make lots of money, but I want him to care so much,
that he will stop at nothing to bring me happiness. The perfect mate for me isn t made up of
superficial qualities. I m just looking for qualities from the heart. As I said, marriage is teamwork,
so I will bring him as much happiness as he brings me. I firmly believe that our Christian values
that we ll share will be the most important part of our relationship together. When we both actively

The alternate hypothesis was: There is a significant relationship between individuals IQ score rank
and instructional media preference. In a correlational study, an alternate hypothesis claims that a
relationship exists between the variables (Gilbert, 2006). A relationship means that where learners
score on the Stanford Binet Intelligence Scale is related to which medium they choose to use for
instruction. Another way to write this is: Ha: ПЃXY в‰ 0, where Ha is the symbol for the
alternative hypothesis, ρ for the significance which will be ≤0.5, and XY which represents the
predictor variable, learner IQ, or X, paired with the criterion variable, or instructional media
choice, or Y. For this study, the predictor variable, learner IQ score, is interpreted as a rank, an
ordinal level of measurement and the criterion variable, instructional media preference, as a
nominal level of measurement. According to Black (1999), Cramer s C (also known as V) is an
appropriate statistical measure when a single sample examines ordinal and nominal levels of
measurement. In fact, using Black s (1999) decision table for selecting association or correlation
coefficients, the ordinal level of measurement, in this case learner IQ ranking, should be reduced to
a nominal level (p.626). Descriptive statistics Univariate

Effective Use Of Sound In Fritz Lang s M
Sound was first introduced into film in 1927. Several years later, Fritz Lang s, M, was released.
His film took advantage of this new technology by implementing a complex soundtrack, using this
to help drive the story instead of solely relying on the pictures. Further, Lang also introduced a
technique termed as leitmotif which in short is simply a recurring musical theme associated with
something larger. Meanwhile, in 1960, the Jean Luc Godard s French New Wave film, Breathless,
was released. This film also cleverly utilized the used of sound by often abruptly switching from
a beautiful music score to natural noise from the streets of Paris. In M, there is a scene where
the audience is introduced to Hans Becker on the streets of Paris. In terms of sound effects, the
viewers are first aware of the cars honking and other noise reminiscent of the hustle and bustle of
city life. However, when the camera cuts to a different perspective of Hans, the audio also cuts off
and is juxtaposed by almost complete silence the only sound to be heard is the faint munching of

thousand movies each year. The Indian Film Industry is witnessing mark improvements on all
spheres from the technology used in making films to the themes of the movies, exhibition, finance

This has however not been the case with the rest of the states in India. Therefore, to avoid market
fragmentation and distortions, a uniform and rational tax structure is required for the growth of the
film industry.
The funding of films either through non banking finance companies, venture funds, corporate funds
or through corporate finance, was a significant shift from the traditional film financing model. IDBI
was the first to start funding film production, that too, to big banners, big names and established
film personalities. The traditional model used amongst others distributors funds, personal finances
of producers, money lenders. Obviously, there were inherent drawbacks attached to these modes of
financing.
Moreover, even banks are not forthcoming in financing film projects. Therefore, venture capital
and private equity investment was clearly seen as a solution based on their appetite for risk and a
conducive legal framework.
Under the applicable law in India, there is no restriction on private equity investment into film
making directly, without routing it, via venture capital regulations as venture capital. However,
there are issues involved with such direct (non venture capital regulations routed) investment, which
they could avoid by operating via applicable venture capital regulations.
Corporatization of the Indian Film Industry has led to increased

The Positive And Negative Implications Of Social...
The positive and negative implications of social networking sites. Introduction Social
networking sites have become a big part of our lives. These sites are indeed twofold, and their
impact on society is both positive and negative. My essay will, therefore try to answer both
sides of the impact social networking sites have in today s culture. A website article by (Shruti
Tripathi Chopra 2015) stated that in 2008 Facebook made and estimated $300 million, that rose
to a profit in 2014 of $2.9. The positive implications of social networking sites have no
boundaries. Communication between people in the past was, either over the phone or via letter,
just to mention a few. (Pewinternet.org 2005) published that just 7% of American adults used
social networking sites, and then rising to 65% by 2015. As a result, in this growth and
popularity, jobs have been created to meet the demands of social networking sites. It was surely
inevitable, that the growth and impact of social networking sites would influence how most of us
live our lives today. A great way to share your recent photographs, ideas, general chat or just keep
in contact with loved ones who live far away, is through the social networking sites. This being a
very positive side, it has all but demolished the barriers that prevented loved ones from frequent
contact. Many, if not all academic institutes have embraced these sites, and they use them to inform
the public of current happening at their institute. This in many ways

Age Of Jackson Essay
The Age of Jackson, written by Arthur M. Schlesinger, focuses on the long lasting effects of
Andrew Jackson on democracy and American politics. The novel starts off with Jackson s life
story, a lowerclass boy from the west, raised by a single mother. After finding financial success on
his own, he became well known for his military exploits, being a crucial factor in the Battle of New
Orleans, and the acquisition of Florida from the Spanish. After the brief account of Jacksons life, the
author moves on to his administration, and stays with that topic for most of the book.

Jackson, uneducated as he was, was a very shrewd man. Using the spoils system, he all but totally
replaced the cabinet from the previous administration. By rewarding the men who had helped him
reach his current state, he made it clear that the middleclass could improve their condition. The
cabinet was no longer filled with wealthy men of status, but instead of more every day people.
Nicholas Biddle proved great opposition to President Jackson. He wanted to re charter the
National Bank; however, many people were against Biddle s decision. This was particularly true
of people in the west. They were still wary of a national bank, after the Panic of 1819, which
involved mishaps in land speculation. Jackson shared the predominately western opinion that
several small banks would be a better service to the nation than one, large bank would. A major
problem with a national bank would lie in it s willingness only to make loans to the wealthy. This
would be of no use to the middleclass. Jackson would not allow Biddle to gain any more power
than he already had.
Jackson did not have the characteristics of a great president. First of all, he was notorious for being
to rash and impetuous. As a military leader, he often disobeyed direct orders (Florida campaign),
and acted on instinct rather than reason. He also had many enemies among colleagues, including
John Calhoun, John Quincy Adams,

Self-Harm Is Meaningless
Loneliness, wishing to be invisible, feeling invisible, abandoned, worthless, questioning why am i

they don t see her like she sees herself. They don t see her insecurities. They don t know what she

Classical Management Theorists
Frederick Taylor and Henri Fayol were both theorists of the classical management movement. The
classical approach was the framework to what management is all about. Therefore it can be said that
they laid the foundation for many theorists. Frederick Taylor was an important theorist of the early
20th century and he made many important contributions to management. He proposed the principles
of scientific management which he believed would improve industrial efficiency. He believed
management could be formulated as a discipline. Taylor s principles of scientific management
focused on cooperation between management and the workers as well as improving the technical
skills of the workers (Hodgetts, 1995). His approach is often referred to... Show more content on

There is an almost equal division of work and responsibility between the management and the
workmen. The management takes over all the work they are better fitted than the workmen, while
in the past almost all of the work and the greater part of the responsibility were thrown upon the
men. (Hodgetts, 1995).
Taylor s scientific management focused on increasing productivity, whereas Fayol s administrative
management theory focuses on ways to make the organisation more effective and efficient.
Scientific management focused on employees as individuals and their tasks, general administrative
management theory dealt with total management organization. According to Pindur Rogers, 1995,
General management theory was a much broader theory concerned with administrative
management functions and is considered the forerunner of modern organization theory.
For Henri Fayol, management was not so much as a way of devising systems to increase
productivity but it was concerned with the integration of the different functions of the organisation
such as production, sales, finance and so on (Wren, 1994).
According to Fayol the success of an organization depended more on the administrative skills of the
manager than on

The Importance Of Food Waste
Through the innovation of technology, mankind has been able to create great, and extraordinary
feats of nature. Taking the smallest indesirable object, then constructing it into a skyscraper or the
smallest most powerful computer. Also through the process of innovation we humans have almost
completely mastered the art of mass manufacturing products making our daily needs and wants
readily available to us. The foodindustry is a one of many examples of this mass manufacturing
evolution, going from food being made over camp fires to being made in huge factory pumping out
fathoming quantities of product. With this evolution comes the downfall of waste. Food waste is not
always avoidable but in some cases the waste is necessary as some things are not safe for
consumption after undergoing certain processes. But no matter the waste product some form of
use should be found for the seemingly invaluable waste product or a way to reduce unnecessary
food waste. Food waste is a huge problem most americans are completely oblivious too. According
to a United states department of Agriculturereport, 133 billion pounds of food went unused in
2010. While animal products like meat and dairy being towards the top of the list, added up to
$105 billion of wasted food.( Waste Not, Want not 26) While worldwide about one third of all
food produced is either lost or gone to waste which adds up to about 1.3 Billion tons of waste. To
put into a better prospective 1.3 billion tons is

Elizabeth Hartley-Brewer s Essay Pitching Your Praise
In the article Pitching Your Praise , the author Elizabeth Hartley Brewer asserts that it is
important for continues growth in kids, that they are allowed to be self sufficient and taught to
become independent learners, to learn how to self assess themselves and to choose their own
goals in life. This is accomplished by grooming kids to not always have the need to feel
validated through someone s approval through empty praise, but by having them feel
encouraged through praise that is focused on their actual efforts and the success of their efforts.
The goal of safe praise is to build on your child s growing capacity for self belief and self
motivation so she can begin to rely less on you and judge her efforts herself. (Hartley Brewer 3)

Food From The Sea Chapter 1 Summary
Australia has small crystals that enables scientist map out earths existence; they are called Zircons.
The earth began as dust. The planet was extremely hot at first and without a certain collusion it
would not be what it is today. A planet with four seasons and with tides in the ocean from the
moon. At first, there were no continents they would come along later, so it was mostly water. Next,
single cell organisms and photosynthesis would start creating oxygen. In fact, oxygen was so
abundant it froze most the planet. Eventually, oxygen would lead the planet to multicellularity.
Life would come and go many times over the course of time. This would be causes by catastrophic
events, but life would always be resilient. All life evolved from the sea.
This chapter tells us how the earth formed and all of the different cycles it went through to get
where it is today. It goes on to illustrate the beginning of life from single cell to multi cell. How life
would end and then come back with different creatures each time.

Nicholas II Research Paper
Nicholas II was born on May 6th, 1868 in Pushkin, Russia. He was born Nikolai Aleksandrovich
Romanov. He was the first born of Alexander Alexandrovich and Maria Feodorovna. Maria gave
Nicholas a nurturing family environment to grow up in. While Alexander had a strong influence

an autocratic government. He received his education from private tutors which included high
ranking government officials. He excelled in history, foreign languages, but he struggled with
economics and subtleties of politics. Alexander also failed to give Nicholas training in state affairs.

The worst thing that happened during Nicholas rule that led to the end of the monarchy was
Bloody Sunday on January 5th, 1905. Bloody Sunday was when peaceful protestors made up of
workers in St. Petersburg protested about the working conditions and for the establishment of a
popular assembly. Those protestors we fired upon and many were killed.
Nicholas was the forced to create an elected legislature. It was called DUMA. Nicholas still
resisted government reform. He felt that he was ordained by god and he was born to rule.
When World War One came around Nicholas took control of the army. Because of this he spent a

Characteristics of Drama
History of Drama
Ancient Drama
The origins of Western drama can be traced to the celebratory music of 6th century BC Attica,
the Greek region centered on Athens. Although accounts of this period are inadequate, it appears
that the poet Thespis developed a new musical form in which he impersonated a single character
and engaged a chorus of singer dancers in dialogue. As the first composer and soloist in this new
form, which came to be known as tragedy, Thespis can be considered both the first dramatist and
the first actor. Of the hundreds of works produced by Greek tragic playwrights, only 32 plays by
the three major innovators in this new art form survive. Aeschylus created the possibility of
developing conflict between characters by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Subject matter was drawn from nature and natural man (such as the supposedly untouched Native
American). Perhaps one of the best examples of Romantic drama is Faust (Part I, 1808; Part II,
1832) by the German playwright Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Based on the classic legend of the
man who sells his soul to the devil, this play of epic proportions depicts humankind s attempt to
master all knowledge and power in its constant struggle with the universe. The Romantics focused
on emotion rather than rationality, drew their examples from a study of the real world rather than
the ideal, and glorified the idea of the artist as a mad genius unfettered by rules. Romanticism thus
gave rise to a vast array of dramatic literature and production that was often undisciplined and that
often substituted emotional manipulation for substantial ideas.
Romanticism first appeared in Germany, a country with little native theatre other than rustic farces
before the 18th century. By the 1820s Romanticism dominated the theatre of most of Europe. Many
of the ideas and practices of Romanticism were evident in the late 18th century Sturm und Drang
movement of Germany led by Goethe and the dramatist Friedrich Schiller. These plays had no
single style but were generally strongly emotional, and, in their experimentation with form, laid the
groundwork for the rejection of Neo Classicism. The plays of the

The Rational And Self Interested Agent Used As A Model Of...
Meet Homo economicus, the perfectly rational and self interested agent used as a model of human
behaviour in neoclassical economics. Lacking the emotion and cognitive biases that typically cloud
optimal decision making, Homo economicus is able to consistently pursue self interest without any
regard for the welfare of others. The troubling observation here is that economists have been
modelling human behaviour in a manner effectively consistent with psychopathy. The classic, albeit
Hollywood inspired psychopath intelligent, capable of self control, driven to succeed and dominate
others is disturbingly similar to our description of Homo economicus. Indeed, using a variety of

This is problematic, and invites the following questions: 1) How to justify modeling economic
outcomes in a manner not accurately reflecting most real life decision making, and 2) How to
arrive at an economic, or even evolutionary explanation for our (nearly) global violations in utility
maximization. I address these points in brief below.
Economists have long known people aren t the tidy, rational, utility maximizing non cooperators
that they re modeled as in neoclassical economics. For this reason, the early behavioral economic
literature was concerned with modifying existing models to better reflect psychological factors (e.g.
Kahneman Tversky, 1979). Most people, for example, do not follow Bayesian statistics in situations
under risk, and so prospect theory serves as a useful addition when modelling loss aversion. Thus
the assumptions underlying Homo economicus can be interpreted as a pragmatic choice that allows
economists to make simplifying approximations appropriate for the problem under review. This
notion, that economists are conscious of the empirical limitations of their models, suggests that
Homo economicus can and should serve only as a preliminary step towards more sophisticated
representations of real life decision making. If it s understood that the assumptions underlying the
models are at best useful approximations, then perhaps the issue is with the breadth of application
rather than the models themselves.

Investing Your Precious Resources With The Hyland...
We welcome you as a client to the Hyland Investment Institute. Thank you for taking the time to
read our prospectus, and for considering investing your precious resources with us. On behalf of
my team I would like to recommend General Electric Corporation. It is suitable for virtually any
well rounded portfolio. Over the last 116 years, GE is the only company that has been continu
ously listed on the Dow Jones Industrial Average. It is built to last and I thoroughly recommend it
as a stock to buy and hold for the long term.
GE is committed to focusing on long term opportunities. The company has a philosophy of only
concentrating on markets that it can dominate as GE positions itself to be a leader. The reason it
has remained competitive for more than a century is because they make progress, evolve and adapt.
General Electric s technology and people, power, move, build and cure the world . They do not
simply attempt to push the boundaries of technology, rather they seek to harness tech nological
improvements to expand the boundaries of infrastructure, business, healthcare and energy.
However, progress and great results take time. But as an investor, you can expect the payback to be
substantial in terms of sustainable, long term growth and prosperity. The stock is suitable for
income and dividend investors due to the fact it provides the opportunity for both income
production and capital gains over the long term. Furthermore, GE s forward thinking programs will

Communist allies, the Soviet Union and China. Both aided North Vietnam before and during the
war. (Dong Si Nguyen, Duong xuyen Truong son: hoi uc. Hanoi: Nha Xuat Ban Quan Doi Nhan
Dan, 1999). Ho Chi Minh declared the independence of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. This
had been a tremendously significant event in world history perhaps the most important event since
the 1917 October Revolution in Russia. It marked the first occasion in human history in which a
radical national movement under Communist leadership had succeeded in overthrowing the
influence of a colonial state and establishing and maintaining its own new, independent form of
social and political system. However, Ho s type of communism was markedly different than that of
Marxist ideology that had been the metaphorical icon of the October Revolution. alike to Jose

  • 5. Comparison of Neurological Assessment Tools Gcs Avpu and Four An assessment of the level of consciousness (LOC) should be carried out during the primary survey of all patients, using the ABCDE approach Cole (2009: 28). Any initial or subsequent reduction in the LOC of the patient may be caused by hypoxia; hypovolaemia; head injury; drug or medicine use; hypoglycaemia; hypothermia or alcohol ingestion (Cole, 2009:44). An assessment of the LOC of the patient is vital for an accurate pain assessment and the administration of analgesia, and the subsequent assessment of its efficacy (Rose, et al. 2011). Regular evaluation of a patient s LOC helps detect the onset of hypothermia and hypovolaemia. Muehlberger, et al. Staff assessing these patients found themselves recording GCS scores lower than what they felt was appropriate. Since the GCS became widely adopted and its use became expanded beyond the original intention of the scale, certain additional limitations have been identified (Laureys, 2005). Verbal responses become difficult or impossible to assess when patients have been sedated or intubated (Majerus, 2005). Some clinicians feel that scoring eye opening is not sufficient to indicate brainstem arousal and a number of coma scales have been proposed that include brainstem reflexes, most of them more complex than the GCS scale (Majerus, 2005). The Glasgow LiГЁge scale is the simplest variation proposed (Born, et al., 1982). It combines the GCS with five brainstem reflexes, but has not been widely implemented outside Belgium, its country of origin (Laureys, 2005). Finally, the remaining weaknesses of the GCS scale relate to the assessment of comatose patients. The GCS becomes unreliable in ongoing care for monitoring coma and recovery through vegetative or minimally conscious states, before returning to consciousness (Laureys, 2005). The main advantage of the GCS is its simplicity, allowing it to be utilised by the full range of clinicians, with a minimal amount of training (Matis, 2008). Rapid Assessment Tools (AVPU and ACDU) More recently, early warning systems have been developed in an effort to recognise the at risk patient who may be deteriorating ... • 7. The Role Of Professional Networking And How It Can Assist... Career Development: Networking Networking is an important part of career development and has been around for a many years. However, how individuals network has changed dramatically over the last few years with the inventions of social media sites like LinkedIn and Facebook. This paper will discuss the role of professional networking and how it can assist with career development. Networking Professional networking is about making and maintaining relationships with individuals who could benefit one s career. By talking with individuals, getting to know more about them and their professional position, learning about their jobs and career experiences, and maintaining the relationships are all part of networking (PSU, 2015). There are multiple ways to network; individual face to face communication, through social media sites like LinkedIn and Facebook, or through professional organizations. One type of networking is used to gain information and knowledge about a particular career or job. For a student or someone who is changing career paths, just getting to know an individual in a position that is being sought is networking. Being able to garner information about that person s experiences may be sufficient for the individual to know if that is a career path they want to follow, or conversely, the information gained may be sufficient enough for the individual to know that it is a path they are no longer interested in (PSU, 2015). • 8. Analysis Of Elephant In The Village Of The Blind The Prodigal Son , The Boy who Cried Wolf , or The Mouse and the Lion are all stories that are commonly well known, however few people recognize them as parables. The parable is a figure of speech characterized by a short narrative, in prose or verse, full of symbols, allegory, and analogy to convey a moral or religious message. The word parable comes from the Greek language and means comparison, illustration, analogy . The two thousand years old Buddhist story The Elephant in the Village of the Blind portraying simple story, demonstrating universal moral, and using symbols and analogy is the evident representative of the parable. The Elephant in the Village of the Blind shows us that in life, we frequently attempt to comprehend the world around us by the way we see it. Nevertheless, our understanding is limited by our experiences, knowledge, beliefs, moral systems, education, opinions, influence of others, etc. In this sense, we are metaphorically blind , as are the villagers. For this reason, some people in the story saw the animal as a fringed rope (line 13) and others as a cool, smooth stuff (line 14), which is clear juxtaposition. Moreover, when we are not familiar with something we are trying to define it, before fully understanding it. The clear moral of this parable is that we rarely see the things as they are, we see the things as we are. Additionally, using analogy and many symbols, parable contrasts human behavior in the story and human behavior in the larger perspective. Parable is often identified with fable, but whereas parable uses people as main characters, fable uses animals personifications. In the discussed story, the main character is the elephant. As noted, the animal is in the center of the narration, but the elephant doesn t personify human beings. The author(s) chose the elephant in this story, because it s exotic, huge, and unlike all other animals. The elephant in this parable is the symbol of unknown. We often face against elephants in our lives. The challenge, as mentioned in the earlier paragraph, is not to judge the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Divine Timeless Eternity Theory Essay The divine timeless eternity theory is the traditional view pertaining to God and time, but it is by no means the only theory, as there are at least four. My original intention was to compare two views in relation to this topic, however, the complexity of the dialogue has proven difficult. Therefore, I will discuss one theory in depth since I believe it will suffice. In this framework, I will discuss the challenges and varying beliefs with the ideas involved. The goal of my paper is to understand the doctrine of eternityand find how this changes my understanding of God. Then I will discuss how this issue influences my approach to God, and to my ministry. First, however, I will explain the need to uncover the idea of eternalism. We will now proceed. Why might one explore the idea of how God functions in time? It is extremely difficult to ignore questions after they have been asked. Historically, questions have been the cause of councils and creeds that now exist as essential dogmas of the Christian faith. Without questioning, what is real and what actually exists? The difference can only be distinguished by those who question. While it might not be explicitly stated, the idea of eternalism is biblical. The theology of the trinity was a similar idea, where no single passage gives enough evidence to a triune God, but with a proper understanding of the biblical narrative, there is enough truth to discover such a characteristic of God s nature. In congruence of this thought, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The knocking device is also indicative of an entry into the world of the abject to destroy its threatening physiognomies and to force it to conform to the prevailing norms and standards of the society. Resilience plays a vital role in assisting a child in settling into a new placement, without experiencing major emotional difficulties. Three factors that promote resilience are secure base, Self esteem and Self efficacy(Grotberg, 2000). These can be influenced by positive experiences on a daily basis, some which will be highlighted throughout the assignment. Resilience in an individual refers to successful adaptation, despite the risk and adversity. The manner in which Matson 2004 defines resilience is very clear to me, as I can relate and reflect this to one particular girl that resided in the care centre I worked. • 17. The Serial Peripheral Interphase The Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) is a synchronous bi directional (full duplex) serial data protocol used by microcontrollers to enable communication between one or more peripheral devices that are all of short distances to one another. Furthermore, it can also be used for communication between two microcontrollers; with particular interest between Arduino boards and Multiwii flight controllers. In general, an SPI data link consists of one master; typically a microcontroller which controls one or more peripheral devices known as slaves. Both the master and the slaves share three common lines which include; MISO (Master In Slave Out) which is responsible for transferring data from the slave to the master; MOSI (Master Out Slave In) which is responsible for transferring data from the master to the slaves; and SCK (Serial Clock) which is created by the master and is responsible for synchronising the transmission of data between master and slave in respect clock pulses. There is also SS (Slave Select) line that is specific to a pin on each slave device and in which the master can use to enable and disable specific slave devices. In the case a slave device s SS pin is low, communication is enabled with the master. However in the case it is high, communication is disabled with the master. This allows multiple devices using SPI to share common MISO, MOSI, and CLK lines. Full duplex data transmission occurs during each clock cycle generated by the master in which the master ... • 18. Sexual Response Cycles Men and women all go through sexual response cycles. The response cycle occurs in both sexes in four phases. They are excitement, plateau, orgasm, and resolution. The first phase, excitement can come from different things such as kissing, sexual thoughts, erotic videos or pictures, all of which can lead to arousal. During this phase, the body is preparing for intercourse. For both men and women, excitement causes similar changes to their bodies such as nipples and earlobes swelling. Muscle tension, heart rate, blood pressure, and blood flow increases. With these changes, it can lead to heavier breathing as well as a change in color to skin, commonly referred to as being flushed . • 19. Meredith Monk Minimalism David Carrillo TA: Joshua Bauder Meredith Monk, Early Morning Melody Early Morning Melody by Meredith Monk is a song with many minimalistic aspects. Repetition and isolation of the human voice are two examples of it. (26 words) The short song Early Morning Melody by Meredith Monk has a beautiful melody that repeats four times with the third time having one different note. The repetition of this melody ironically does not feel redundant, as the listener is likely to have mental pictures on how they interpret the song. For example, thinking of how someone would really sing this for an early morning activity, like taking a shower or cooking. Another image that may come to the listener s mind could be a much sadder scene: perhaps a song for a funeral, or how the use of repetition could simbolize a lack of direction. (105 words) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While some believe the correct use of minimalism has some of the most profound and powerful ways of communicating a message or a mental image, others find it too abstract, simplistic or even boring. The short piece Early Morning Melody by the American composer, Meredith Monk, utilizes minimalistic tools to evoke many emotions and reactions from the listeners. The use of a solo voice and repetition of a simple, yet touching melody are two examples of how the minimalism is displayed. The melody is repeated a total of four times and only the third has a small difference, so minuscule that it is literally just one note that is different. It should also be noted that the unique note could even be in the same harmonic progression of the passage. This is clearly done on purpose and, as explained earlier, leads to as many interpretations as the amount of people listening to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 20. Describe The Relationship Between Acid And Carbonic Acid The acid balance must be regulated with a range of 7.35 and 7.45 in order for the body to function normally. A pH of below 7.35 is considered acidic and a pH of above 7.45 is considered alkaline or basic. Body acids exist in two forms; volatile and nonvolatile acids. Volatile acids can be eliminated as CO2, usually known as carbonic acid, which is a weak acid. Nonvolatile acids can be eliminated by the kidneys, example are sulfuric and phosphoric. These acids are strong compared to volatile acids. When there are changes in pH (can be an increase in hydrogen ion or decrease) there are different buffer systems that can help to regulate the pH, such as; the carbonic acid bicarbonate buffer, protein buffer and renal buffer. Buffers absorb the excess hydrogen ion or hydroxyl ion and prevent a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The carbonic acid bicarbonate buffer is a major extracellular buffer, that operates in both the lungs and kidneys. The lungs acts as a second defense responding quickly by decreasing the amount of carbonic acid by blowing off carbon dioxide and leaving water. The kidneys acts as a third defense talking a little longer to respond (hours to days versus seconds to minutes with the lungs). The kidneys reabsorb bicarbonate or regenerate bicarbonate from carbon dioxide and water. These two systems work very effectively together because the lungs can adjust acid concentration rapidly by ventilation and bicarbonate is easily absorbed or regenerated by kidneys tubules, although more slowly. The way the renal and respiratory systems adjust to primary changes in pH are known as compensation. The respiratory system compensates for changes in pH by increasing or decreasing the concentration of carbon dioxide by changing ventilation. The renal system compensates by producing more acidic or more alkaline urine. The protein buffer system is both extracellular and intracellular, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Now, Cohen offers seven theses towards understanding cultures through monsters by their character, appearance and representation, such as: Vampires, the Alien, Frankenstein, Werewolves, Grendel, the Boogey man, and etc. First Thesis pretty much says that monsters always are symbols and representations of culture. • 25. Different Forms Of Division Of Labor By Emile Durkheim Emile Durkheim, born in 1858 was an eminent proponent of Sociology from France, considered to be one of the greatest in his field alongside Karl Marx and Max Weber. Durkheim aimed to study society taking an evolutionary approach, keeping in mind that society is composed of individuals. However, it was not essentially the aggregate sum of each individual s behavior, actions and thoughts. Durkheim endeavored to understand transformation of society, from traditional to modern, where solidarity changes from mechanical to organic because of the phenomenon of division of labour . In this essay I will aim to explain first, how organic solidarity came to existence because of increasing division of labour in society. To begin with I will take a peek... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By the same standards it also contains fallacies which limit its appeal in contemporary world. Firstly, Durkheim s account of organic solidarity seems positivist in that the division of labor does not have negative effects at all. With great convenience Durkheim propagates the conditions responsible for smooth functioning of organized societies in some idyllic place. To elaborate more on this point, the society does not have the self regulating quality as implied by organic solidarity. Durkheim s principle assumption was that collective conscience and individual conscience coupled with the State would lead to organic solidarity. Although Durkheim tries to take account of this nature of society through anomic division of labor yet his viewpoint on evils of unregulated capitalism, commercial and industrial crises, class conflict, meaninglessness, alienated labor etc. was very uncritical in nature. This observation was further strengthened when in his later works he gradually parted away with evolutionary optimism which underpinned the mechanical, self regulating conception of division of labor. Secondly, Durkheim does not seem to be concerned about the ill effects of division of labor . On one hand mutual interdependence creates solidarity which holds together societies, on the other in modern societies one is not able to sustain without depending ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Another way to write this is: Ha: ПЃXY в‰ 0, where Ha is the symbol for the alternative hypothesis, ПЃ for the significance which will be ≤0.5, and XY which represents the predictor variable, learner IQ, or X, paired with the criterion variable, or instructional media choice, or Y. • 39. Age Of Jackson Essay The Age of Jackson, written by Arthur M. Schlesinger, focuses on the long lasting effects of Andrew Jackson on democracy and American politics. The novel starts off with Jackson s life story, a lowerclass boy from the west, raised by a single mother. After finding financial success on his own, he became well known for his military exploits, being a crucial factor in the Battle of New Orleans, and the acquisition of Florida from the Spanish. After the brief account of Jacksons life, the author moves on to his administration, and stays with that topic for most of the book. By rewarding the men who had helped him reach his current state, he made it clear that the middleclass could improve their condition. The cabinet was no longer filled with wealthy men of status, but instead of more every day people. Nicholas Biddle proved great opposition to President Jackson. He wanted to re charter the National Bank; however, many people were against Biddle s decision. This was particularly true of people in the west. They were still wary of a national bank, after the Panic of 1819, which involved mishaps in land speculation. Jackson shared the predominately western opinion that several small banks would be a better service to the nation than one, large bank would. A major problem with a national bank would lie in it s willingness only to make loans to the wealthy. This would be of no use to the middleclass. Jackson would not allow Biddle to gain any more power than he already had. Jackson did not have the characteristics of a great president. First of all, he was notorious for being to rash and impetuous. As a military leader, he often disobeyed direct orders (Florida campaign), and acted on instinct rather than reason. He also had many enemies among colleagues, including John Calhoun, John Quincy Adams, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is accomplished by grooming kids to not always have the need to feel validated through someone s approval through empty praise, but by having them feel encouraged through praise that is focused on their actual efforts and the success of their efforts. Although accounts of this period are inadequate, it appears that the poet Thespis developed a new musical form in which he impersonated a single character and engaged a chorus of singer dancers in dialogue. As the first composer and soloist in this new form, which came to be known as tragedy, Thespis can be considered both the first dramatist and the first actor. Subject matter was drawn from nature and natural man (such as the supposedly untouched Native American). Perhaps one of the best examples of Romantic drama is Faust (Part I, 1808; Part II, 1832) by the German playwright Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Based on the classic legend of the man who sells his soul to the devil, this play of epic proportions depicts humankind s attempt to master all knowledge and power in its constant struggle with the universe. The Romantics focused on emotion rather than rationality, drew their examples from a study of the real world rather than the ideal, and glorified the idea of the artist as a mad genius unfettered by rules. Romanticism thus gave rise to a vast array of dramatic literature and production that was often undisciplined and that often substituted emotional manipulation for substantial ideas. Romanticism first appeared in Germany, a country with little native theatre other than rustic farces before the 18th century. By the 1820s Romanticism dominated the theatre of most of Europe. Many of the ideas and practices of Romanticism were evident in the late 18th century Sturm und Drang movement of Germany led by Goethe and the dramatist Friedrich Schiller. These plays had no single style but were generally strongly emotional, and, in their experimentation with form, laid the groundwork for the rejection of Neo Classicism. The plays of the ... Meet Homo economicus, the perfectly rational and self interested agent used as a model of human behaviour in neoclassical economics. Lacking the emotion and cognitive biases that typically cloud optimal decision making, Homo economicus is able to consistently pursue self interest without any regard for the welfare of others. The troubling observation here is that economists have been modelling human behaviour in a manner effectively consistent with psychopathy. The classic, albeit Hollywood inspired psychopath intelligent, capable of self control, driven to succeed and dominate others is disturbingly similar to our description of Homo economicus. Indeed, using a variety of anonymous, one shot cooperation games, Yamagishi et al. (2014)... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is problematic, and invites the following questions: 1) How to justify modeling economic outcomes in a manner not accurately reflecting most real life decision making, and 2) How to arrive at an economic, or even evolutionary explanation for our (nearly) global violations in utility maximization. I address these points in brief below. Economists have long known people aren t the tidy, rational, utility maximizing non cooperators that they re modeled as in neoclassical economics. For this reason, the early behavioral economic literature was concerned with modifying existing models to better reflect psychological factors (e.g. Kahneman Tversky, 1979). Most people, for example, do not follow Bayesian statistics in situations under risk, and so prospect theory serves as a useful addition when modelling loss aversion. Thus the assumptions underlying Homo economicus can be interpreted as a pragmatic choice that allows economists to make simplifying approximations appropriate for the problem under review. This notion, that economists are conscious of the empirical limitations of their models, suggests that Homo economicus can and should serve only as a preliminary step towards more sophisticated representations of real life decision making. If it s understood that the assumptions underlying the models are at best useful approximations, then perhaps the issue is with the breadth of application rather than the models themselves.
