Child Wellbeing And Safety 2005 Essay
Child Wellbeing and Safety 2005(Vic)
Impact of Legislation in Schools
The wellbeing and safety of children and protecting them from abuse is paramount for schools.
Everyone who participates in a school environment is responsible for the care and protection of
children from abuse and neglect, including the role of an Education Support worker. The Child
Wellbeing and Safety Act is one piece of legislation schools use to develop policy and procedures to
ensure the wellbeing of children.
Clarification of Legislation
There are numerous ways to learn and further develop an understanding of the Child Wellbeing and
Safety Act.

It is the responsibility for your supervising teacher to be approachable about understanding,
interpreting and implementing legislation. Your supervising teacher should role model the appropriate
behaviour, assist education support workers in understanding the legislation and establish clear
frameworks, expectations and behaviours. Education support workers should also be given the
opportunity for regular review and training to ensure they are meeting their legislative obligations.
Legislative requirements of Schools
The Child Wellbeing and Safety Act comprises two significant components; (1) Child Safe Standards
and (2) Reportable Conduct Scheme.
(1) The Child Safe Standards amendment, Section Part 6, Division 1 7, required all organisations
involved in child related work in Victoria to introduce the Child Safe Standards in their environment.
Organisations are required to implement, comply, review and report on their compliance.
Schools have a responsibility to ensure they comply with the Child Safe Standards outlined in the
amendment Part 2 Principles for children, Clause 5A

Feedback And Sports Performance Analysis
i believe chapter 6 has multiple important points when developing athletes young or old is feedback
giving to the athlete directly from the coach i believe this is true because as a current athlete, athlete
are out to impress the coaches of the position or institution the athlete wants to attend and to receiving
feedback from coach, makes the athlete want to go out and repeat wanted behavior if the
reinforcement is precieved to be positive versus negative feeback which also has a purpose in the
developmental stages but too much negative feedback can make the game and environment unpleasant
potentially losing players.6 in today s class the circular relationship increased cohesion leads to greater

Global Market For Agricultural And Construction Equipment
Assignment Questions 1. How strong are the competitive forces confronting Deere in the global
market for agricultural and construction equipment? Do a five forces analysis and identify the key
driving forces and key success factors to support your answer. After looking into the Balance sheet
and financial charts for each top 4 rivals company who are almost dominating the current agriculture
equipment manufacturing are not very strong compared to Deer Company. The five forces are:
Supplier power. Deere managed to keep its other competitors from driving up the price because of
suppliers pricing by building its own supply channels. In each of its six identified key regions Deere
established manufacturing plants that supported its main production assembly line. For example Deere
built plants across the U.S.A (Iowa, Illinois, North Dakota, Georgia, Louisiana, Missouri and
Wisconsin) each plant designed to manufacture different parts. Also, Internationally Deere is strongly
presented in different regions in the world in important markets like China in support of construction
equipment, engines, and large farm equipment. Deere s strategy is not to depend on external supplier
in support of its equipment. Buyer Power: Deere company was the world s leading manufacturer of
agricultural and forestry equipment, with a market share of 35.4 percent in 2013. Primary competitors

The Imperfect Process Of Campus Sexual Assault Adjudication
The Imperfect Process of Campus Sexual Assault Adjudication It s a statistic that has circled around
the nation for years, one that imprints fear into the minds of young adults and rage into those that
demand justice: 1 in 5 female college students will experience sexual assault in the duration of their
college career (Clark), with only 20% of those rapes being reported to the police (Hefling). As a topic
that is so highlighted in American society, there is a strict demand for an organized, thorough
investigation that will result in justice served. Controversy regarding whether the colleges themselves
or the criminal justice system should adjudicate the punishment for these vile crimes has arisen; some
believe that as an actual crime, these assaults should be taken in a legal stance in order to serve justice
at its fullest extent. Others believe that determining punishment through the court system is too nerve
wracking for the victims and that by allowing colleges to do so is the only way they can avoid feeling
skepticism by the police, juries, or courts (Know Your IX). However, when juxtaposing the
capabilities of the colleges and the court system when it comes to the adjudication process, it is
evident that the courts are more competent in determining punishments for campus sexual assaults. It
has been argued that colleges are more equipped for attending to the emotional well being of campus
sexual assault victims. Title IX, a federal gender equity law passed in 1972

we knew that he had limited health, financial, and social resources. As there appeared to be no prior
research looking into homeless amputees, we had to remember to take his lack of resources into
account when reviewing other articles and attempting to apply their findings to our patient s case. It
was also challenging to set goals knowing that we had limited time with him and needed to tailor them

Was the ethical issue obvious? Were you able to address it in your analysis of the case?
In our case, the ethical issue was the fact that the patient is homeless and has a very limited support
system. He is only able to stay with his friend for two weeks for pre prosthetic training, which clearly
isn t enough time to ensure a successful outcome. He also has very limited financial resources and
would be unable to properly manage a prosthesis. We were able to address these concerns by

Why Is Irrigation Important In Arizona
Irrigation has changed Arizona a lot economically wise and land wise, irrigation is an important factor
to Yuma. It brought people here for jobs and that lead to Yuma making more houses which brought up
the economy and had more land to plant agricultural crops like vegetables and fruits, irrigation
basically improved Arizona. Irrigation is a successful project, the Yuma project helped field workers
and help year round farming conditions like the dry soil/ dry land it gave people more jobs to provide

Compare And Contrast The Sniper And The Man He Killed
Mankind must put an end to war, or war will put an end to mankind. John Fitzgerald Kennedy wrote
this quote to the UN General Assembly on September 25, 1961. In other words Kennedy is saying that
people should stop war because war tears people apart. In the writings The Sniper by Liam O Flaherty
and The Man he Killed by Thomas Hardy they also talk about how war tears people apart. These two
writings are both very similar although they have some differences in literary devices plot, irony, and
theme.
In these two works there are similarities and differences in plot. A similar plot from both stories is that
the protagonist, a soldier, had to kill someone. He must kill the enemy that enemy and he could not
use his rifle. (O Flaherty ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If it wasn t for war, in both stories, they would have been friends. When the sniper reached the
laneway on the street level, he felt a sudden curiosity as to the identity of the enemy sniper whom he
had killed. (O Flaherty 208) In this quote from the The Sniper the main character wants to know the
person he killed, because he might like him and wanted to be friends with him. In the two stories the
main characters were both good people and felt remorse. You d treat if met where any bar is (Hardy
19) If both the men weren t soldiers, they would have met at a bar and had a drink together. The story
The Sniper has situational irony. Suddenly from the opposite roof a shot rang out and the sniper
dropped his rifle with a curse. (O Flaherty 207) The shooter wasn t expecting this outcome, because he
got shot instead of the other guy. In the poem The Man He Killed there is verbal irony. I shot him dead
because because he was my foe (Hardy 9 10) The man he killed was only his enemy on the battlefield,
but he felt like the could have been friends. Irony plays a big part in both writings because both the
men could ve been friends if they weren t soldiers at

Theatre in the Community Essay
Theatre in the Community
Britain in 1979 was a place of great change and division. Although the country had united in the
election of Margaret Thatcher as the first
Conservative woman Prime minister by the early 1980 s one could say that the country was spiralling
into a state of decline. This was largely due to the disarray of the previous Labour government and the
implementation of the Conservative government s robust style of economic management.
All spheres of social and cultural life were to be judged on their economic terms and values. This is
particularly true within the Arts.
In Politics of Performance Baz Kershaw describes how, Private enterprise was to replace public
dependency, so cuts in government, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, many small town theatre companies began to establish themselves as small community
groups, basing most of their performance around local issues and issues that were not necessarily
covered in mainstream.
Although established prior to 1979 many small theatre companies came into their own at this period.
Having initially established themselves as small community groups in the early 1970 s by the end of
the decade they soon found themselves becoming small community theatre groups. An example of
such small groups can be seen in 1974 where there began to emerge a small number of theatre groups
who were more political than aesthetic in their orientation. Most of these such groups were more or
less comfortable with the term agit prop to describe their work, although the only company actually to
adopt the name soon changed it to Red Ladder , which was among the first to take its shows to factory
gates, strikers, union workers and working men s clubs and pubs. It was during these early days of the
Heath government that one of the few fringe figures who had already made a name for himself in the
established media, John McGrath, by now disillusioned with

I Wandered Lonely As A Cloud By John Muir Analysis
In John Muir s essay The Calypso Borealis he shows his love for flowers when he said it seems so
wonderful that so frail and lovely a plant has much power over human hearts. William Wordsworth
also shows his love towards nature when he wrote his poem I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud, he shows
the joy he finds in nature when he said ten thousand saw I at a glance, tossing their heads in a
sprightly dance. Both John Muir and William Wordsworth find happiness and joy in nature, but
express it in different way. Muir and Wordsworth had to go through the worst to discover the beauty of
nature. Throughout both John Muir and William Wordsworth exciting adventure, they experienced
two totally different aspects with nature. In the first place, Muir ran into some of the toughest

nature it helped to transform his mood for the better. For oft, when on my couch I lie in vacant or in
pensive mood, they flash upon my inward eye. And then my heart with pleasure fills, and dances with
the daffodils. Furthermore, When Wordsworth is alone lying on his sofa, a feeling of bored and
sadness rush over him. But when the daffodils come to his mind he is able to imagine his adventure
with them, and that brings him joy and happiness. Both Wordsworth and Muir show their love for
nature by writing about their adventure. Through their journey they discovered how the beauty of

The Career As A Musician
Music may be a universal medium, but musician are far from all being treated equally. It has become
nearly impossible to make it in the music industry, and those who do often will not succeed for very
long. Yet, it is still an illusive field and one that society depends on for entertainment. By creating
documentaries about musicians, viewers get a behind the scenes look at what being a musician truly
entails, whether it is good or bad. For Ken Vandermark, his career as a musician is a struggle, as
documented by Daniel Kraus s Musician, because of his niche genre for contemporary society.
Madonna, on the other hand, has created a career as a pop icon, as documented by Alek Keshishian s
Madonna: Truth or Dare, which may be financially successful, but is not always rewarding. Both
Kraus and Keshishian employ similar tactics for their respective documentaries; however, through the
use of different camera angles, relations to the subject, and display of live music, they are able to
provide unique insight into the artists they are following. Throughout Musician, Kraus uses multiple
camera angles in order to develop the narrative of the documentary. His two most frequently used,
extreme close ups and wide angle, are both frequently found throughout the film to create poignant
moments in the film. Extreme close ups are most commonly used while Vandermark is performing,
allowing viewers to see his unwavering focus and passion for his work. From the very beginning of

Introduction
Providing Comfort Measures
A scientific definition of pain is an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with
actual or potential tissue damage (Lowe, 2002). Labor pain, has many different variables, physical as
well as its interaction with culture and emotions, making labor pain exclusive to each individual.
During the first stage of labor there is mostly visceral pain due to the dilation of the cervix. Uterine
contractions may be felt as back pain because the lower back has nerves that connect to the uterus as
well as the skin of the lower back. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These nonpharmacologic comfort measures work by providing distraction during uterine contraction.
According to the gate control theory of pain, only a limited number of sensations can travel along
neural pathways at any one time, so when activities fill the pathway, pain is being inhibited . (Leifer,
2012)
Pharmacological comfort measures can provide partial or complete pain relief. The epidural is the
most efficient way of reducing labor pain. Opioids can be given continuously or in intermittent doses
at the patient s request or through the patient controlled pump. There is the potential for these drugs to
have some effect on the fetus, such as breathing difficulties that may require assistance through the
use of Narcan. Providing pain relief during the labor process is solely the patient s choice, and as the
nurse only support and encouragement should be given for however she chooses to handle the pain.
(Jansen, Gibson, Bowles, Leach, 2013)
The nurse must be mindful of each intervention initiated and the possible benefits of the intervention
against its potential harmful effects for both mother and fetus. Not providing basic comfort measures
for the mother can cause serious physical and emotional problems and could lead to possible fatigue
and feelings of failure from the mother. The priority of this nursing intervention is to provide the
mother and fetus with the least discomfort as possible and

My research is based Hohensalzburg Fortress in Salzburg, Austria, built in 1077 by Archbishop
Gebhard. It is currently the largest fully preserved castle in Central Europe. It is now a tourist
attraction and is the most dominate feature of the city s skyline.
This castle was originally built for troop protection for the Imperial army of the Holy Roman Empire.
It was very small, but over a period of more than 900 years, it was transformed in many different
ways. This fortress became the city s most important defense when Archbishop Gebhard had a conflict
with Emperor Henry IV and was influenced to expand the castle in case of invasion. The expansion
continued gradually for the next few centuries, then in 1462, builders under Prince Archbishop
Burkhard III von Weißpriach, constructed the four main towers along the outer wall, a bell tower in
the northern wall, the trumpeter tower in the northeast, the kraut tower in the north and a type of
prison is the south. Prince Archbishop Leonhard von Keutschach during his term further expanded the

Death And The Maiden Rationality
Rationality vs. Will Power: A Fight for Closure Psychological damage strikes the core of an individual
and can lead to irrational actions and poor judgement. Through an examination of Paulina Salas
actions throughout Death and the Maiden, Ariel Dorfman successfully characterizes her as a survivor
through her fight for closure. Although her ways may not seem rational, her fight symbolizes the
desperation felt by victims of the torture in Chile. This demonstrates that strength cannot always be
measured in rationality, but more so in the will power of an individual. This is seen in the way Paulina
acts towards Dr. Roberto Miranda, her reaction to Gerardo joining the Rettig Commission, and her
search for personal justice for the duration of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Paulina believes there will be no justice for her, and when she finds out about Gerardo s new task, her
pursuit for what is right begins to develop, and Dorfman is able to characterize her as damaged and
wanting justice prior to the introduction of Dr. Miranda. Gerardo was appointed as the lawyer to the
Rettig Report created by the first democratic president Patricio Aylwin to investigate humans rights
violations following Augusto Pinochet s communist rule of Chile. The commission only pursued
violations ending in death or presumption of death and the idea is that if [the commission] throw light
on the worst crimes, other abuses will also come to light (9). Paulina starts to get edgy and starts
getting defensive towards Gerardo after she discovers the commission only investigates cases of
death, and this means Paulina would not receive a trial. This makes Paulina furious, as she was under
the impression that her and Gerardo would be able to put Paulina s torturer and the others all on trial.
Another key phrase that demonstrates Paulina s continuous fight for the justice she deserves is when
Gerardo refers to the cases he will investigate as the ones that are beyond let s say, repair. and Paulina
responds with Beyond repair. Irreparable, huh? (9) To Paulina, her case is beyond repair too, and to a
high degree. She is haunted to listen to Schubert, just because of her torture.

Compare And Contrast Spencer And Social Darwinism
Social Darwinism is a belief, popular in the late Victorian era in England, America, and elsewhere,
which states that the strongest or fittest should survive and flourish in society, while the weak and
unfit should be allowed to die. The theory was chiefly expounded by Herbert Spencer, whose ethical
philosophies always held an elitist view and received a boost from the application of Darwinian ideas
such as adaptation and natural selection.
Spencer and Social Darwinism

In fact, the early Social Darwinists, who regarded the theory as a logical extension of laissez faire
capitalism, would have been appalled at the use of the concept to promote state run eugenics

Belief in Social Darwinism tended to discourage wanton handouts to the poor, favoring instead
providing resources for the fittest of all walks of life to use, or choosing specific, genuinely deserving
people as recipients of help and support. Some major capitalists, such as Andrew Carnegie, combined
philanthropy with Social Darwinism; he used his vast fortune to set up hundreds of libraries and other
public institutions, including a university, for the benefit of those who would choose to avail
themselves of such resources. He opposed direct and indiscriminate handouts to the poor because he

Essay On Head And Neck Cancer
Radiation Therapy has been a standard treatment for Head and Neck cancers whether used alone or in
combination with other treatment methods. Using radiation as a single modality treatment in head and
neck cancer patients allowed us to preserve function and form of organs in this region.6 Head and
neck cancers have distinctive clinical, pathological, and epidemiological features. Their sensitivity to
treatment also distinguishes them from other cancers.4 Radio sensitive cells are classified as cells that
have high division rate, high metabolic rate, and cells that are non specialized. Using ionizing

Therefore the fractionation effect is smaller in early responding tissues than in late responding tissues.
When talking about fractionation response, tumors tend to behave similar to early responding tissues
providing that late reactions are dose limiting5 Hyperfractionation is based on the difference between
the response of early and late responding tissues. One benefit is that hyperfractionation can be
effective even if tumors have high sensitivity by looking at their alpha/beta ratios. Usually
hyperfractionation is generally expected to have an escalation of total dose which increases control
rate without increasing the risk of late complications5 5 year survival for head and neck cancers that
were treated with radiation therapy alone were reported below 60%, treatment failure were due to the
high rate of local recurrence or distant metastasis.4 Local recurrence was due to active proliferation of
the tumor cell left behind in the surgical field. In this report we will be looking at two different types
of radiation treatment for head and neck cancers and their effects on the rate of control at the end of
treatment time in mainly fast growing tumors, which are more sensitive to radiation. Loco regional

Helium Synthesis
The first process every star goes through before its end is the process of their core shrinking. When
stars of at least .4 M begin to exhaust their hydrogen supply, the hydrogen starts to fuse in a shell that
is outside the helium core. As the shell burns more hydrogen it is also producing more helium, this
allows the core to increase in its mass and temperature. When the temperature increases greatly,
helium fusion begins to start in what is called a helium flash, causing the star to rapidly decrease in its
size and increase its temperature. Once the star has fused all of the helium out of its core, the product
of the carbon will fuse which produces a hot core along with the outer shell made up of fusing helium.
The more massive a star is,

the site a military esque feel relating back to the military theme. The next consideration to deal with
was colour scheme originally a black and brick red colour scheme was chosen but later seeing the site
using this scheme it was deemed too dark, I, therefore, opted for an off white and red colour scheme as

Tessa Maud English June 9, 2016 Protecting the Environment By Tessa maud Introduction Did you
know that 32 million tons of plastic is made yearly? The National Oceanic Atmospheric
Administration reports that approximately 1.4 billion pounds of trash per year enters the ocean?
Plastic has a great impact on our environment. It gets into our oceans and kills over We live in our
environment and we should really try to start protecting it. Many teenage activists are already ahead of
the game. In other words they have been helping the environment for a while now. The earth is
important and we need to protect it. This essay will teach you about about teenage activists, plastic,

Some people call the Pacific Garbage patch The Floating Island Of Trash. Well, it is trash, but not
exactly an island like some people think It is more like trash soup located near Midway Island/Atoll.
Midway is one third of the distance from Honolulu, Hawaii to Tokyo, Japan. Scientists estimate that it
is now the size of America! This garbage patch is a collection of marine debris that is mostly made out
of plastic. The debris collects in the pacific garbage patch due to a series of currents that create a
circular effect like a toilet bowl and a spiral. These currents are called the gyres;the trash and debris
gets trapped. Most of the trash is under the water, and much of it is so small you can not see it.
NOAA, the National Oceanic Atmospheric Association reported that, In 2008 plastic outweighs
surface zooplankton 6 to 1. The garbage in Pacific Gyre is mainly plastic. There are plastic bottles,
plastic caps, plastic computer parts just to name a few. There is not only one gyre in the ocean, there
are 5. We have so much plastic that we should not be using. This plastic is effecting the ocean,
animals, people, and our

Peer On Peer File Sharing
Peer to Peer File Sharing
Have you ever heard of peer to peer file sharing technology or P2P? What is P2P? According to J.A
Pouwelse. P. Garbacki and his article The Bittorrent P2P File Sharing System: Measurements and
Analysis , P2P is the transfer of a digital file from one peer to another. peer refers to computer clients.
This transfer can be as simple as the File Transfer Protocol(FTP), which transfer a file directly to a
visitor s personal computer through a server hosted website (Pouwelse, Garbacki, Epema, Sip, 2005).
File sharing create many ethical issues, but these ethical issues can be different if we are looking at it
morally, ethically or legally. Moral is an individual s belief about right or wrong. Not everyone will
have the same moral beliefs because they have different background or culture. For examples, we can
see many people streaming many document online and or sharing this document and these people do
not consider this issue a problem. If we look at it in an author stand point we might consider this issue
a problem since it influences our benefit. On the other hand, if we are looking at a user standpoint, we
do not think it is a problem because we are not paying for the information we are accessing. We can
conclude, that It depends on your cultural belief. Ethic is a belief that depends on the society. The
society or a group determines if a situation is good or bad. An individual cannot change the ethical
belief unless a group. This can be

Fairytales May Convey a Hidden Message
As innocent as they seem, from the cute fairytales of Cinderella and her submissive character to the
passionate story of Beauty and the Beast, a maiden who falls in love with a beast, the true meaning
that lies beneath the pretty shell delivers a different message to children. The idea of the traditional
role of women is constantly portrayed in many fairytales. Fairytales, although fantasy like, still
resemble aspects of the world and throughout history, women were considered inferior to men. ...it is a
fair assumption that in a world dominated by men, the fairy tale reflects the world as defined and
organized by men... (Oliver 86). Stories such as The Little Mermaid by Hans Christian Anderson,
Cinderella and Snow White by the Grimm s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Oliver 87). With the loving father and the envious mother , the message sent to children can be
misleading and one sided.
Another example of the wicked step mother is illustrated in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The
innocent beauty, Snow White, and her feminine charms are similar to the common house wife by
doing chores around the house while maintaining a certain image of perfection and beauty. Her step
mother is in competition with Snow White; activeness and power versus submissiveness and
obedience. The competition between Snow white and the queen turns into a struggle for survival
between two halves of a single personality: passivity and tractability as opposed to inventive and
subversive activism. (Barzilai 520). Once again, another fairytale shows the rivalry which the mother
figure is set to destroy the daughter. The over assertive woman (in this case, the queen) is represented
as an envious monster. The queen is characterized throughout in unremittingly negative terms: she is
most often deemed wicked , but she is also proud, overbearing, and envious. (Barzilai 520). There are
many examples in Fairyland which give a bad reputation towards the step mother or the mother figure.
Beauty and the Beast is a popular fairytale about a girl who falls in love with a beast and in return the
beast becomes her prince. Luckily, for Belle,

Family Stressors Effect On Children
Stress in children are situations that produce anxiety and require them to adapt or change. Family
stressors such as divorce, domestic violence, and poverty have a tremendous affect on preschool
children and are ultimately detrimental to their development. Although stress is normal for children to
experience, preschoolers are not resilient towards stressors and are highly affected by them. The
effects of stressors on children are not minimal either. Not only do family stressors affect children s
behavior in the preschool classroom, but it influences their development and overall future. This
makes it that much more important for parents and childcare providers to be aware and help/guide
children. Family stressors have lasting effects on

Toyota Utility Vehicles Drive The Lincoln Brand
Four utility vehicles drive the Lincoln brand, including the all new MKX.
If the standout feature for an SUV is its nifty massaging capabilities, what does that tell you about the
rest of the vehicle? Maybe not as much as you think, especially if your week long obsession was with
the 22 way power driver s seat offering cooling and heating capabilities as well as a rubbing down
feature that might have you terminating your masseuse s service.
But the Lincoln MKX is much more than that, a five passenger midsize luxury SUV now in its second
generation. As before, the MKX shares its mechanical underpinnings with the Ford Edge, but there are
important differences here too, including in sheet metal, fascias, engine choices, and the interiors. ...

2016 Lincoln MKX AWD Reserve
My test model was a 2016 Lincoln MKX AWD. The base price for a front wheel drive model begins at
$38,260. Choose all wheel drive and your MKX will start at $40,755.
As tested, my Reserve model came with a $47,650 base price and topped out at $63,535. Lincoln
doesn t offer official trim levels, calling them equipment groups instead. Standard, Premiere and
Reserve groups are offered; a special high end Black Label package is also available.
Instead of the standard 3.7 liter, naturally aspired V 6 engine, the test model received the 2.7 liter,
turbocharged V 6 engine, an option that immediately adds $2,000 to your cost.
Reaching the final price came through still more upgrades, including the special bronze fire metallic
paint ($495), a cargo utility package ($395), climate package ($595), technology package ($1,720),
driver assist package ($1,650), luxury package ($4,400), second row inflatable seat belts ($250), 21
inch polished aluminum wheels ($1,300), and adaptive steering ($625). The 22 way power driver s
seat was yet another option, this one coming in at $1,500. All told, Lincoln added nearly $15,000 in
options to a model that already had a price premium topping $7,500 over the standard all wheel drive
issue.

Analysis Of Dalton Conley s Big Girls Don t Cry Essay
Music has had a huge influence on my life. I listen to music everywhere, in the car, on my way to
class, at the gym, etc. The reason I love music so much is because there are so many songs about so
many topics. When I found out that we were assigned to write an essay on a song that we loved and
relate to a real life issue that we read about in our text, I was excited. I love analyzing the music I m
listening to and making sure I know what the artist is talking about rather than just blindly listening to
the song. I chose to write about the song Big Girls Don t Cry, by Fergie. I personally relate to this song
because I went through a breakup in high school and it was a very difficult time for me. I didn t cry
but my whole support system of family and friends expected me to. I think that this song relates to
chapter eight in Dalton Conley s book You May Ask Yourself very well. This chapter is about gender
and how the world perceives the idea of gender and gender roles. In this song, Fergie describes a girl
who has gone through a breakup. This song relates to chapter eight very well because the gender
section talks about how women are expected to act and portray themselves. There is a lot of change
happening in the country about gender roles and gender stereotypes. People are trying to end gender
roles, and expectations of people just because of their gender. I felt that this song would be appropriate
to write about since gender issues are very prevalent today. Conley defines

6. Results and Discussion:
6.1 Preformulation Studies:
6.1.1 Selection of drug:
Carvedilol Phosphate is a non selective β adrenergic blocking agent with α 1 blocking activity. It is
widely used in clinical practice for the treatment of cardio vascular diseases like hypertension,
congestive heart failure, myocardial infarction, etc. Treatment with the β adrenoceptor blocking
agents, metoprolol and carvedilol, has been shown to improve symptoms and left ventricular ejection
fraction and to reduce mortality in patients with heart failure. However, a recent clinical study showed
that carvedilol had a more favourable effect on the survival rate of patients with heart failure in
comparison with metoprolol. Carvedilol is used as a racemic mixture clinically. S carvedilol has ...

Lithium Ion Batteries For Electric Vehicle Batteries Essay
Introduction
A lithium ion (Li ion) battery is a type of rechargeable battery which uses a lithium ion that moves
from a positive electrode (cathode) to a negative electrode (anode) during charging and vice versa
during discharge. Lithium ion batteries are less environmentally damaging than batteries containing
heavy metals such as cadmium and mercury, but recycling them is still far preferable to incinerating
them or sending them to landfill. Lithium ion batteries are made up of one or more generating
compartments called cells. Each cell is composed of three components: an anode, a cathode, and a
chemical called an electrolyte in between them.
Lithium ion batteries are becoming more common in portable electronic devices due to their high
energy density, lack of memory effect, and high charge and discharge rate capabilities. Research and
development work is ongoing to improve safety and increase capacity, charge/discharge rate, and
lifetime. Demand for electric vehicle batteries is currently small, but it is expected to grow very
quickly. China, Japan, South Korea, France, and the United States are the major lithium ion battery
manufacturers for hybrid and electric vehicle applications.
A lot of information from different sources was gathered with the purpose of comparing different Li
ion batteries mechanisms, cathode and anode materials, structure and fabrication procedures, and their
respective advantages and disadvantages.

Behold The Dreamers Analysis
I don t like what my life has become in this country. I don t know how long I can continue living like
this, Neni. The suffering in Limbe was bad, but this one here, right now...it s more than I can take.
Neni . Behold the Dreamers is a great representation of some of the struggles held in the everyday
lives of Americans. Neni and Jende were immigrants who came to seek their dreams, but were held to
it due the lack of money they had. The Edwards had been living the American Dream, yet they had
their own problems of wanting more. My parents are immigrants themselves, and I relate the same
struggles as the Jongas do. My parents came to America to seek the same dreams as Neni and Jende,
but realize that it couldn t be reached with the education

  • 6. The Imperfect Process Of Campus Sexual Assault Adjudication The Imperfect Process of Campus Sexual Assault Adjudication It s a statistic that has circled around the nation for years, one that imprints fear into the minds of young adults and rage into those that demand justice: 1 in 5 female college students will experience sexual assault in the duration of their college career (Clark), with only 20% of those rapes being reported to the police (Hefling). As a topic that is so highlighted in American society, there is a strict demand for an organized, thorough investigation that will result in justice served. Controversy regarding whether the colleges themselves or the criminal justice system should adjudicate the punishment for these vile crimes has arisen; some believe that as an actual crime, these assaults should be taken in a legal stance in order to serve justice at its fullest extent. Others believe that determining punishment through the court system is too nerve wracking for the victims and that by allowing colleges to do so is the only way they can avoid feeling skepticism by the police, juries, or courts (Know Your IX). However, when juxtaposing the capabilities of the colleges and the court system when it comes to the adjudication process, it is evident that the courts are more competent in determining punishments for campus sexual assaults. It has been argued that colleges are more equipped for attending to the emotional well being of campus sexual assault victims. Title IX, a federal gender equity law passed in 1972 ... It was also challenging to set goals knowing that we had limited time with him and needed to tailor them to his ultimate desire of returning to street life. Was the ethical issue obvious? John Fitzgerald Kennedy wrote this quote to the UN General Assembly on September 25, 1961. In other words Kennedy is saying that people should stop war because war tears people apart. In the writings The Sniper by Liam O Flaherty and The Man he Killed by Thomas Hardy they also talk about how war tears people apart. These two writings are both very similar although they have some differences in literary devices plot, irony, and theme. In these two works there are similarities and differences in plot. • 10. Theatre in the Community Essay Theatre in the Community Britain in 1979 was a place of great change and division. Although the country had united in the election of Margaret Thatcher as the first Conservative woman Prime minister by the early 1980 s one could say that the country was spiralling into a state of decline. This was largely due to the disarray of the previous Labour government and the implementation of the Conservative government s robust style of economic management. All spheres of social and cultural life were to be judged on their economic terms and values. This is particularly true within the Arts. Having initially established themselves as small community groups in the early 1970 s by the end of the decade they soon found themselves becoming small community theatre groups. An example of such small groups can be seen in 1974 where there began to emerge a small number of theatre groups who were more political than aesthetic in their orientation. Most of these such groups were more or less comfortable with the term agit prop to describe their work, although the only company actually to adopt the name soon changed it to Red Ladder , which was among the first to take its shows to factory gates, strikers, union workers and working men s clubs and pubs. It has become nearly impossible to make it in the music industry, and those who do often will not succeed for very long. Yet, it is still an illusive field and one that society depends on for entertainment. By creating documentaries about musicians, viewers get a behind the scenes look at what being a musician truly entails, whether it is good or bad. For Ken Vandermark, his career as a musician is a struggle, as documented by Daniel Kraus s Musician, because of his niche genre for contemporary society. Madonna, on the other hand, has created a career as a pop icon, as documented by Alek Keshishian s Madonna: Truth or Dare, which may be financially successful, but is not always rewarding. Both Kraus and Keshishian employ similar tactics for their respective documentaries; however, through the use of different camera angles, relations to the subject, and display of live music, they are able to provide unique insight into the artists they are following. Throughout Musician, Kraus uses multiple camera angles in order to develop the narrative of the documentary. His two most frequently used, extreme close ups and wide angle, are both frequently found throughout the film to create poignant moments in the film. Extreme close ups are most commonly used while Vandermark is performing, allowing viewers to see his unwavering focus and passion for his work. From the very beginning of the film, ... Interventions Throughout The Stages Of Labor Running head: Interventions throughout the stages of labor Interventions throughout the Stages of Labor Jackie Flooks Nursing 264 August 2, 2015 Introduction Providing Comfort Measures A scientific definition of pain is an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage (Lowe, 2002). Labor pain, has many different variables, physical as well as its interaction with culture and emotions, making labor pain exclusive to each individual. During the first stage of labor there is mostly visceral pain due to the dilation of the cervix. Uterine contractions may be felt as back pain because the lower back has nerves that connect to the uterus as well as the skin of the lower back. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These nonpharmacologic comfort measures work by providing distraction during uterine contraction. According to the gate control theory of pain, only a limited number of sensations can travel along neural pathways at any one time, so when activities fill the pathway, pain is being inhibited . (Leifer, 2012) Pharmacological comfort measures can provide partial or complete pain relief. The epidural is the most efficient way of reducing labor pain. Opioids can be given continuously or in intermittent doses at the patient s request or through the patient controlled pump. There is the potential for these drugs to have some effect on the fetus, such as breathing difficulties that may require assistance through the use of Narcan. Providing pain relief during the labor process is solely the patient s choice, and as the nurse only support and encouragement should be given for however she chooses to handle the pain. (Jansen, Gibson, Bowles, Leach, 2013) The nurse must be mindful of each intervention initiated and the possible benefits of the intervention against its potential harmful effects for both mother and fetus. Not providing basic comfort measures for the mother can cause serious physical and emotional problems and could lead to possible fatigue and feelings of failure from the mother. The priority of this nursing intervention is to provide the mother and fetus with the least discomfort as possible and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is now a tourist attraction and is the most dominate feature of the city s skyline. This castle was originally built for troop protection for the Imperial army of the Holy Roman Empire. It was very small, but over a period of more than 900 years, it was transformed in many different ways. This fortress became the city s most important defense when Archbishop Gebhard had a conflict with Emperor Henry IV and was influenced to expand the castle in case of invasion. The expansion continued gradually for the next few centuries, then in 1462, builders under Prince Archbishop Burkhard III von Weißpriach, constructed the four main towers along the outer wall, a bell tower in the northern wall, the trumpeter tower in the northeast, the kraut tower in the north and a type of prison is the south. Through an examination of Paulina Salas actions throughout Death and the Maiden, Ariel Dorfman successfully characterizes her as a survivor through her fight for closure. Although her ways may not seem rational, her fight symbolizes the desperation felt by victims of the torture in Chile. This demonstrates that strength cannot always be measured in rationality, but more so in the will power of an individual. Gerardo was appointed as the lawyer to the Rettig Report created by the first democratic president Patricio Aylwin to investigate humans rights violations following Augusto Pinochet s communist rule of Chile. The commission only pursued violations ending in death or presumption of death and the idea is that if [the commission] throw light on the worst crimes, other abuses will also come to light (9). Paulina starts to get edgy and starts getting defensive towards Gerardo after she discovers the commission only investigates cases of death, and this means Paulina would not receive a trial. This makes Paulina furious, as she was under the impression that her and Gerardo would be able to put Paulina s torturer and the others all on trial. Another key phrase that demonstrates Paulina s continuous fight for the justice she deserves is when Gerardo refers to the cases he will investigate as the ones that are beyond let s say, repair. and Paulina responds with Beyond repair. • 19. Essay On Head And Neck Cancer Radiation Therapy has been a standard treatment for Head and Neck cancers whether used alone or in combination with other treatment methods. Using radiation as a single modality treatment in head and neck cancer patients allowed us to preserve function and form of organs in this region.6 Head and neck cancers have distinctive clinical, pathological, and epidemiological features. Their sensitivity to treatment also distinguishes them from other cancers.4 Radio sensitive cells are classified as cells that have high division rate, high metabolic rate, and cells that are non specialized. Using ionizing radiation leads to killing of cells. In radiation therapy the most important endpoint is the cell losing reproductive ability and/or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore the fractionation effect is smaller in early responding tissues than in late responding tissues. When talking about fractionation response, tumors tend to behave similar to early responding tissues providing that late reactions are dose limiting5 Hyperfractionation is based on the difference between the response of early and late responding tissues. One benefit is that hyperfractionation can be effective even if tumors have high sensitivity by looking at their alpha/beta ratios. Usually hyperfractionation is generally expected to have an escalation of total dose which increases control rate without increasing the risk of late complications5 5 year survival for head and neck cancers that were treated with radiation therapy alone were reported below 60%, treatment failure were due to the high rate of local recurrence or distant metastasis.4 Local recurrence was due to active proliferation of the tumor cell left behind in the surgical field. In this report we will be looking at two different types of radiation treatment for head and neck cancers and their effects on the rate of control at the end of treatment time in mainly fast growing tumors, which are more sensitive to radiation. Loco regional control is an important key to patients long term survival. Conventional fractionation or also known as standard fractionation is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 20. Helium Synthesis The first process every star goes through before its end is the process of their core shrinking. When stars of at least .4 M begin to exhaust their hydrogen supply, the hydrogen starts to fuse in a shell that is outside the helium core. As the shell burns more hydrogen it is also producing more helium, this allows the core to increase in its mass and temperature. When the temperature increases greatly, helium fusion begins to start in what is called a helium flash, causing the star to rapidly decrease in its size and increase its temperature. Once the star has fused all of the helium out of its core, the product of the carbon will fuse which produces a hot core along with the outer shell made up of fusing helium. The more massive a star is, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Create Structures And Styles And Use Them Essay Create structures and styles and use them to produce websites KU 1.1 Please see initial design folder 1.2 The main law I was concerned with while creating the site was the copyright, Designs and Patents Act. To ensure the site was in line with this act with regards to images I created the Background of the logo myself using GIMP2 I then converted the background of a Lion rampant to Alpha so I could place this image on top of the background image. I am also covered by the creative commons to take and change an image found on the web. Since there was work completed on the image the final logo can be claimed as my own intellectual property. ST 1.1 Planning involved consideration of navigation method, colour scheme, logo design, favicon design, font choice and site name. Once these had been decided upon I started to gather resources for the project. The first thing that was obtained was the site font, this was found by going to google fonts and searching for stencil. A stencil font was chosen as the website is for booking and finding out about airsoft (a sport like paintball but using plastic pellets instead of paintballs) and therefore this font gave the site a military esque feel relating back to the military theme. The next consideration to deal with was colour scheme originally a black and brick red colour scheme was chosen but later seeing the site using this scheme it was deemed too dark, I, therefore, opted for an off white and red colour scheme as this lifted the page ... Midway is one third of the distance from Honolulu, Hawaii to Tokyo, Japan. Scientists estimate that it is now the size of America! This garbage patch is a collection of marine debris that is mostly made out of plastic. The debris collects in the pacific garbage patch due to a series of currents that create a circular effect like a toilet bowl and a spiral. These currents are called the gyres;the trash and debris gets trapped. Most of the trash is under the water, and much of it is so small you can not see it. NOAA, the National Oceanic Atmospheric Association reported that, In 2008 plastic outweighs surface zooplankton 6 to 1. The garbage in Pacific Gyre is mainly plastic. Garbacki and his article The Bittorrent P2P File Sharing System: Measurements and Analysis , P2P is the transfer of a digital file from one peer to another. peer refers to computer clients. This transfer can be as simple as the File Transfer Protocol(FTP), which transfer a file directly to a visitor s personal computer through a server hosted website (Pouwelse, Garbacki, Epema, Sip, 2005). File sharing create many ethical issues, but these ethical issues can be different if we are looking at it morally, ethically or legally. Moral is an individual s belief about right or wrong. Not everyone will have the same moral beliefs because they have different background or culture. For examples, we can see many people streaming many document online and or sharing this document and these people do not consider this issue a problem. If we look at it in an author stand point we might consider this issue a problem since it influences our benefit. On the other hand, if we are looking at a user standpoint, we do not think it is a problem because we are not paying for the information we are accessing. We can conclude, that It depends on your cultural belief. Ethic is a belief that depends on the society. The society or a group determines if a situation is good or bad. With the loving father and the envious mother , the message sent to children can be misleading and one sided. Another example of the wicked step mother is illustrated in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The innocent beauty, Snow White, and her feminine charms are similar to the common house wife by doing chores around the house while maintaining a certain image of perfection and beauty. Her step mother is in competition with Snow White; activeness and power versus submissiveness and obedience. The competition between Snow white and the queen turns into a struggle for survival between two halves of a single personality: passivity and tractability as opposed to inventive and subversive activism. (Barzilai 520). Once again, another fairytale shows the rivalry which the mother figure is set to destroy the daughter. The over assertive woman (in this case, the queen) is represented as an envious monster. The queen is characterized throughout in unremittingly negative terms: she is most often deemed wicked , but she is also proud, overbearing, and envious. (Barzilai 520). There are many examples in Fairyland which give a bad reputation towards the step mother or the mother figure. • 30. Analysis Of Dalton Conley s Big Girls Don t Cry Essay Music has had a huge influence on my life. I listen to music everywhere, in the car, on my way to class, at the gym, etc. The reason I love music so much is because there are so many songs about so many topics. When I found out that we were assigned to write an essay on a song that we loved and relate to a real life issue that we read about in our text, I was excited. I love analyzing the music I m listening to and making sure I know what the artist is talking about rather than just blindly listening to the song. I chose to write about the song Big Girls Don t Cry, by Fergie. I personally relate to this song because I went through a breakup in high school and it was a very difficult time for me. I didn t cry but my whole support system of family and friends expected me to. I think that this song relates to chapter eight in Dalton Conley s book You May Ask Yourself very well. This chapter is about gender and how the world perceives the idea of gender and gender roles. In this song, Fergie describes a girl who has gone through a breakup. This song relates to chapter eight very well because the gender section talks about how women are expected to act and portray themselves. There is a lot of change happening in the country about gender roles and gender stereotypes. People are trying to end gender roles, and expectations of people just because of their gender. I felt that this song would be appropriate to write about since gender issues are very prevalent today. Conley defines ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. Lithium Ion Batteries For Electric Vehicle Batteries Essay Introduction A lithium ion (Li ion) battery is a type of rechargeable battery which uses a lithium ion that moves from a positive electrode (cathode) to a negative electrode (anode) during charging and vice versa during discharge. Lithium ion batteries are less environmentally damaging than batteries containing heavy metals such as cadmium and mercury, but recycling them is still far preferable to incinerating them or sending them to landfill. Lithium ion batteries are made up of one or more generating compartments called cells. Each cell is composed of three components: an anode, a cathode, and a chemical called an electrolyte in between them. Lithium ion batteries are becoming more common in portable electronic devices due to their high energy density, lack of memory effect, and high charge and discharge rate capabilities. Research and development work is ongoing to improve safety and increase capacity, charge/discharge rate, and lifetime. Demand for electric vehicle batteries is currently small, but it is expected to grow very quickly. China, Japan, South Korea, France, and the United States are the major lithium ion battery manufacturers for hybrid and electric vehicle applications. A lot of information from different sources was gathered with the purpose of comparing different Li ion batteries mechanisms, cathode and anode materials, structure and fabrication procedures, and their respective advantages and disadvantages.
