Strengths and Limitations of Assessment Methods
Strengths and limitations of different assessment methods
Assessment Method | Strengths | Limitations | Direct Observation | Allows the assessor to see the
candidate in action and may be able to cover several aspects of the qualification during a single
session (see also Holistic)The observation can take place while the candidate s normal work place so
there is minimal disruption as they are able to continue to do their job while being assessed. | A fixed

Case Study Of The Executive Management Team Of Chemco...
Question 1 A group is best defined as two or more individuals who are connected by and within social
relationships (Shaw, 1971). The executive management team of Chemco Chemicals does meet the
requirements needed to form a group as they possess the following characteristics: 1. Interdependence:
this refers to the dependence of others within the members of the group, therefore member A
influences member B, and member B influences member A and so on (Cartwright Zander, 1968). All
the above mentioned managers depend in each other to ensure the smooth running of their
departments. 2. Goals: each and every group must seek to serve a purpose of some sort. The aim to
achieve whatever they have set for themselves as their ultimate goal. In this case ... Show more

Relationships in the workplace are based on task interdependence (Forsyth, 2010). The organizational
structure or composition of the group is the bridge between the organizational level strategies planning
as well as the staffing decisions, therefore it is important for all of the departmental directors and
managers in the case study to participate and be on the same level of understanding with the entire
group. Question 4 Maude (2011) states that interaction teams need high task cohesion to be regularly
successful, while for moderate or low interaction teams cohesion is less important to success. Again,
we have social cohesion, the degree to which members of the group get on with one another, and task
cohesion, the extent to which members cooperate to achieve the group s goals. The following factors
affect cohesion: 1. Stability Cohesion in the group exists or develops when a group for the longest
period has been with the same members. 2. Similarity Cohesion develops when group members share
the same similarities in terms of age, sex, skills and attitudes. 3. Size A cohesive group is one that is
small in size 4. Support A cohesive team tend to have managers who provide support to their group
members and encourage them to support one another. 5.

An Organization Looking Into An Oversight Of Operations
This paper summarizes an action research project of our organization looking into an oversight of
operations, revealing key experiences of stakeholders that cultivated themes. Through this effort, a
central point formed warranting implementation and innovation changing policies and procedures
(contract) within the organization. Action researcher gathered data on interworking relationships and
culture by quantitative and qualitative methods for the purpose of streamlining operations and
enhancing work relations as well as the effectiveness of individual performances for the benefit of the
individuals and organization s well being (Stringer 2014). Key stakeholders were selected as the
center focus of participants as to further learn and understand the perspectives and experience the
stakeholder s qualities, convictions, and hypothetical viewpoints as the researcher perceived them as
their reality to be in the daily interworking of the organization. Further contents of this paper will
reveal that the action research and the participants demonstrated a shared understanding of the
mechanism behind action research methodology with a common purpose of project deliverables in its
intended use for the targeted application of evaluation results.
Clarity was the undertone and mutual understanding to all participants that increases and enhances
buy in and a mutual agreement of conditions, policy, and process facilitating sound unity of

Creating Audience Appeal In The Maze Runner
Creating audience appeal in The Maze Runner
In many book to film adaptation there are always scenes and parts that have to be cut. The director
does this to help engage the audience and capture their attention. A director might cut out some
dialogue from the book and add some action packed scenes in the movie to entertain and engage the
audience. The movie version of The Maze Runner is directed by Wes Ball with minimal changes to the
main plot and characters from the book. By removing most of the main character s thoughts and
emotions, removing basic everyday scenes like meals, sleep, and conversations, and by making the
challenges more believable and understandable, greater audience appeal is achieved. ... Show more

In the book the author constantly writes about Thomas s thoughts or emotions after most scenes.
However in the movie, Thomas s thoughts and emotions are mainly non existent. This creates a larger
audience appeal because the audience doesn t have to see or hear Thomas s thought every time there s
an event happening making it more viewable for young viewers who get bored easily and lose interest
very fast. The majority of viewers get annoyed and bored by decreased action scenes and more
reflective and emotional scenes creating a less attractive and amusing movie. In the film adaption the
majority of Thomas s emotions and thoughts. In the book Thomas spends a lot of time reflecting about
the different scenes happening around him. This creates boring content which viewers don t want to
see. However, by eliminating these parts, the director was able to insert more action packed and
exciting scenes that viewers enjoy watching. This captures the attention of all viewers and contributes
to creating larger audience

Essay On Departure Time
Departure time is a short story written by Tessa Green, who is also a painter and solicitor. It was
published in 2013 in the collection Once Upon a Time There Was a Traveller. All of the stories in the
collection revolve around the theme of travelling, and so does this one.
The text is written with a third person narrative. We only get to know about the thoughts and feelings
of Samantha, and we get a little to no information about the thoughts of the other characters, so we
have a so called internal view. With an internal view, the story seems more personal. The plot is set on
a train which is driving from Patras to Athen, and with each stop, the train is taking her further and
further away. Doing the train ride we get different flashbacks ... Show more content on

High School Goals
Goals are important to peoples everyday lives. Goals for high school, personal life, goals for your job,
and goals for the future are important to our everyday lives towards the future. I m Hailey Anderson, I
m a determined person that is not afraid to fail and then learn from it. My goals in my life is to focus
on my education, improving my bowling skills, and find different ways to strengthen my short term
memory loss. Goals in high school are good because you can focus on making goals, which can let
you get to what you want to do in the future. My personal goal for high school is to get a 3.0 GPA, or
higher and graduate high school. A GPA is good for individual student or a person that graduated high
school to know. This will help businesses know what type of person they will be in that line of work.
A GPA also determines if a person is ready to graduated high school and if a person is ready to go to
college. The reason why I m so focused on my education for high school is because that way I can
achieve a goal or goals that gets me closer to what I want to do in my life. Goals in high school are so

Factors Impacting Decision Making And Indecision
Factors Impacting Decision Making and Indecision
Amy Hines
University of Minnesota
Abstract
This is a discussion on the dynamics of decision making and indecision and their impacts. It offers an
overview in decision theory and its evolution through decision frameworks that have been analyzed
and developed to accommodate the ever changing individual and environment. This is a
comprehensive look at the underlying influences on the decision making process. It reaches the span
across different specialties from biological to personality. Within those areas it addresses a variety of
psychological processes, positive and negatives, through to career focused decision theories and
impacts on the individual. The important aspect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The aspects that will be discussed in the following will assess the background of decision theory,
frameworks of decision and action, factors that influence and difficulties when faced with the
indecisiveness. Understanding the decision making frameworks, factors such as genetic makeup,
personality, environmental and emotional impacts that influence our decisions will provide insight on
counseling strategies, preventative or institutional development.
The process an individual goes through to make a decision is a complicated one. Deciphering the
system one needs to look at where the theories started and how they evolved. The expected utility
theory (EU theory) otherwise known as the Decision Theory that is essentially weighing the options
and determine the maximum value (compensatory) under the assumption an individual is a rational
being. The possibility of loss can be compensated by a potential large gain (Busemeyer 2015). It
evolved to add inclusions for rank dependent utility (RDU) to compensate for the violation of the
independence axiom or rule that originated in the EU theory. The independence axiom or contingency
is best understood as the third option that is presented independent to the first two, but does not
influence the order of preference that was established prior to the introduction of the third

Designer Of Bottega Veneta, Designers And Clothing Companies
In the beginning, men s suits had rules: thy must be constricting and uncomfortable, and be a sturdy
black, navy blue, or gray. Comfortable clothes were restricted to weekends and only weekends. But in
the midst of a men s wear boom, the rules, and the suits, are loosening up. Men s wardrobe in general
has evolved immensely since designers and clothing companies first began creating solely men s wear
lines of clothing. Designers and clothing companies not only have men s lines, but they include more
than just suits: slacks, button downs, gold shirts, sports coats, polo shirts, and relaxed fit t shirts are
just some of the vast array of items now including in men s clothing lines. Men are no longer being
confined to the old stereotype of suits during the day, pajamas at night, and comfortable less formal
clothes on the weekends. And as a result of this paradigm shift, this more relaxed attitude is being
applied to suits themselves. As Tomas Maier, designer of Bottega Veneta, put it, There s a lot of men
out there who do not need those sartorial codes. They re not lawyers, they re not working on Wall
Street. In recent decades the men s suit has settled into a comfortable rut: stiff, dark, breaking just so
over the loafers, a dress code so uniform that it s often overlooked. This becalmed style ended with the
entrance of designer Thom Browne and tailor Rocco Ciccarelli. The duo disrupted men s wear with
suits whose hemlines took up residence near the anklebone,

Examples Of Egoism In The Veldt
Ray Bradbury uses Ethical Egoism in two stories, Marionettes, Inc. and The Veldt. Bradbury creates
each character to act with self interest while putting himself in place of those characters and acts in
self interest for them as well as himself. A section from The Veldt shows Mr. Hadley s and Bradbury s
self interest, As for the nursery, thought George Hadley, it won t hurt for the children to be locked out
of it awhile. Too much of anything isn t good for anyone. And it was clearly indicated that the children
had been spending a little too much time on Africa. That sun. He could feel it on his neck, still, like a
hot paw. And the lions. And the smell of blood. Remarkable how the nursery caught the telepathic
emanations of the children s minds and created life to fill their every desire. The children thought
zebras, and there were zebras. Sun sun. Giraffes giraffes. Death and death. Hadley believed he was
doing the best thing for himself by locking the nursery so he wouldn t have to feel the sun, see the
lions, or smell the blood. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Critical Analysis Of Death Of A Salesman
How can two people watch or read the same story and yet, interpret it completely differently? Does it
have to do with the author s intentions, or maybe it has to do with the viewers own backgrounds and
ideologies? Whatever the case may be, viewing one piece of work can lead to a wide array of opinions
and critiques. It is through the diversity of such lenses that Death of a Salesman, by Arthur Miller has
become one of the most well known plays in modern history. There are many different ways in which
a play can be criticized, however, criticisms from the approaches of a Marxist and reader response will
be utilized to further dissect Death of a Salesman. Marxist criticism sees pieces of works as a struggle
between different socioeconomic classes; what better way to see Miller s play than for what it is at
face value, the struggle of a middle class man trying to achieve the American dream (1750). On the
other hand, a reader response criticism comes from either an objective or subjective view; in this case
Death of a Salesman will be viewed with a subjective lens based on Willy s deteriorating mental
health (1746). Through a Marxist s eyes, Death of a Salesman represents the struggle of middle class
families in a capitalistic world. From an early age, kids are taught to do well in school, be involved
with sports and activities, and to go on to college; all in hopes of achieving the American Dream. This
dream of obtaining success through hard work leads many into the

Traditional Utilitarianism. According To Our Text,...
Traditional Utilitarianism According to our text, utilitarianism is a general term for any view that
holds that actions and policies should be evaluated based on the benefits and costs they will impose on
society (Velasquez, 2012). In any circumstance, the right activity or approach is the one that will
create the best net advantages or the most reduced net costs (when all options have just net expenses).
Furthermore, utilitarianism rule holds that any activity is morally right if and just if the aggregate
results of a similar demonstration are more than the results created by some other activity a specialist
could have done in its place. As indicated by utilitarianism just a single activity is ideal in the last
examination: the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In any case, customary utilitarians would preclude that an activity from securing a specific kind is
dependably either right or off base. Rather, each activity would need to be measured given its specific
conditions. Utilitarian perspectives have additionally been exceedingly powerful in financial aspects.
A long line of business analysts, starting in the nineteenth century, contended that monetary conduct
could be clarified by expecting that individuals dependably endeavor to amplify their utility and that
the utilities of products can be measured by the costs individuals will pay for them.
Ecological Ethic Ecological ethics is the moral view that nonhumans parts of the earth should be
saved for their own purpose, paying little mind to whether this gives individuals advantages.
Additionally, we people have an obligation to not hurt them without adequately genuine reasons.
There are a few assortments of biological morals, some more radical and expansive than others. The
most famous form asserts that, notwithstanding individuals, different creatures have natural esteem
and are meriting our regard and security. A few utilitarians, for example, Peter Singer, for instance
have claimed that agony is a shrewdness whether it is incurred on people or on individuals from
different species. Moreover, Singer contends that the torment experienced by a

The Australian Stock Exchange Goes
The Australian stock exchange goes as far back as the mid 1800s. Australian originally had six
separate exchanges throughout the country. The first stock exchange in Australia was founded in 1861
in Melbourne followed by the Sydney, Hobart, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth one in each capital of
every Australian state. In 1937 the Australian Associated Stock Exchange (AASE) was to establish to
secure rules for brokers and commission rates. Representatives from each exchange were present to
represent their exchange at the AASE. Up until 1960 trades were made by a call system in which the
names of each company was called out and broker put in their bids. Post 1960s the system changed
and they hired employees called chalkies who wrote bids and offers on a board throughout the trading
hours and recorded all transactions.
On April 1st, 1987 the Australian Parliament formed the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX). This
caused the merging of all six independent stock exchanges throughout the country into one national
exchange instead of six separate state run institutions. Along with establishing a national exchange
they also launched a new trading system call the Stock Exchange Automated Trading System
(SEATS), in response to the increased volume of exchanges. This was a significant improvement from
the chalk and board method, which had been used for almost a century. Before the establishment of
the ASX there had been three forms of trading in the Australian stock exchange. The

Neanderthal Essay
Neanderthals were a species of archaic humans who migrated out of Africa and into Europe and Asia.
However, around 40,000 years ago the large populations of Neanderthals died off and became extinct.
The mysterious circumstances that surrounded their extinction drove various research teams to
undertake the task of excavating numerous Neanderthal sites to collect fossilized bones, and artifacts
in order to learn more about this group of ancestral humans. Over the past years, major technological
advances have allowed researches to analyze the fossilized remains of the Neanderthals which led to
major discoveries. For example, researchers at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary
Anthropology found that the ear ossicles of Neanderthals and modern humans had similar functions
but differed in terms of structure. In the study, the researchers used high resolution computer
tomography (CT) to scan numerous Neanderthal skulls from different sites in order to determine if
there are ossicles present in the middle ear cavity (tympanic membrane). The scans revealed ossicles
in fourteen different skulls which came as a surprise to the researchers since the bones of the ossicles
are fragile and break down easily in the soil. The researchers then used microcomputed tomography
scans and 3D geometric morphometrics in order to virtually reconstruct the bones of the ossicles
which are composed of the malleus, incus and stapes. The 3D reconstructions of the ossicles allowed

The Advertisements For Gucci s Perfume And Calvin Klein

Reflection About Service
During the summer and the first quarter of my freshman year, I performed several hours of service
because service, to me, is important and brings me closer to God. During the summer, I volunteered at
my church s sport summer camp. There I watched over the children who were around the ages of five
to ten. Other counselors and myself, watched over the children while their parents were at work. I
helped the children play sports such as basketball and volleyball as well as even spent time with some
of the children making friendship bracelets. I spent a week volunteering at this camp because, for me,
doing service brings me closer to the life Jesus said we should live; it helps me to not think about
myself for once and to think about other people. Additionally, over the summer I also volunteered at
Sportime summer camp. There I did similar things which included playing sports and rely games with
the children as well as helping them with arts and crafts. I volunteered there because it was seven
hours a day when I would focus on the children and help them with whatever they needed. At both
Sportime and my church, the heads of the camps were grateful for my help because they were low on
volunteers and staff members. I agreed to help because I did not see a better way to spend my time. It
meant a lot for me to be able to be such a help to those people. In my second quarter, I volunteered at
OLMA s annual Christmas Tea Party. There, I helped set up the tables with hot water and sugar as well
as helped serve food and dessert. I made sure everyone s kettles were always filled with hot water and
that there was enough tea for everyone. Additionally, I helped clear the tables and throw away people s
garage during the event. After the event, I cleared all the tables from the dross and tablecloths, along
with the other volunteers. In addition, I helped to bring the cups and kettles that needed to be washed
back to the kitchen. The week before I knew that the people running the event were in need of some
student volunteers because they did not have many, so I was glad to volunteer. The people there were
happy to have my help and I was more than glad to offer it. I felt closer to God as I gave up my time

Strength-Based Perspective And Disengagement Systems Theory
Systems theory is where human behaviors are looked at individually. This system is helpful in creating
an effective system which looks at the individual s needs, rewards, expectations and attributes of their
current life situation. This system can be composed of families, couples, or just one individual but
directly lets the individuals get involved in the process of fixing the problem (Kirst Ashman, Zastrow
p. 184.) Strengths based perspective is what it sounds like. This perspective is about finding the
individuals strengths, and what they are passionate about. Having the individual lead the meetings is
also letting them focus on what they want to accomplish in the future, and lets them create their own
goals with guidance. Disengagement ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Systems theory is one aspect to include in all cases because it is general knowledge. The questions
that the social worker asked helped create a plan, and an end goal for Mrs. Washburn. The individual s
needs, expectations and rewards that come from having the help from a social worker should always
be included. Systems theory also creates a way for the individual to take charge, and accomplish their
goals themselves. The social worker based their questions off of systems theory because it was the
easiest way to get general information. The strength based perspective is about being positive, and
looking at all the positive aspects in the individual s life rather than the negative aspects. The social
worker created questions and comments asking Mrs. Washburn what she wanted the outcome of the
situation to be. Also, by starting off the conversation with letting the individual pick whether they
want to talk about a negative situation or a positive is a way to create balance in the meetings. Since
Mrs. Washburn was passionate about her grandson, and everything that he did, she could get involved
in the community by doing the things that he loved to do. Also, Mrs. Washburn seemed to have a
positive relationship with her sister, so that could be another change to make for the future. The
strength based perspective is about the future, and what positive attributes can be made to enlighten
Mrs. Washburns life. The disengagement theory is about how older people get lonesome and withdraw
from family and the community. Since Mrs. Washburn had lost her husband early, and her son Mrs.
Washburn took custody of her grandson who has also passed away. With such significant losses,
disengagement theory is bound to happen. The social workers questions talk about how Mrs.
Washburn felt about Roland Jr s death, and how it would be possible to

Business Marketing Of Foreign Buyers
Part II. Active marketing to foreign buyers
Chapter 22. Decisions to make based on demand for your real estate and marketing budget
To market to foreign buyers or not? This is the same powerful question as the famous To be or not to
be? As a real estate seller of just one private property or a developer with many properties or a realtor
you have to answer this question to yourself, having been equipped with all the preliminary
information you can gather before you start doing anything. Marketing costs money and takes time,
so, without thoughtful consideration and a solid marketing plan with a budget you do not have to start
spending money and time. There are obvious situations where and when it is the only possibility to
sell your property: your country or area is in economic and financial problems and thus local buyers
do not buy. You have to answer Yes . There are less obvious situations when the local real estate
market is in balance more or less right now, but you hear a lot around how other sellers, developers
and realtors benefit from selling real estate to foreigners. Your choice then. Even in a hot seller s
market when it is no problem to receive a quick offer from a local buyer, sometimes it makes sense to
market to foreigners anyway as you can get a higher price from the foreign buyers under the
circumstances. If you answer Yes to marketing to the foreign buyers, the next question is To market to
the foreign buyers in what

The Psychoanalytic Theories Of Freud s Theory
Personality is what makes people who they are. Some people have different personalities others have
very similar personalities; but nobody s personality is exactly the same. In the past many people have
tried to understand personality and explain it through theories. This paper, will discuss the differences
between the psychoanalytic theories of Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung, and Alfred Adler. It will then show
the characteristics of which I agree with as well as the characteristics that I disagree with.
Furthermore, it will describe the stages of Freud s theory and explain the characteristics of personality
using these components; And finally, I will describe uses of three Freudian defense mechanisms by
using real life examples.
In regard to the psychoanalytical theories of Freud, Jung and Adler, there are several similarities;
however, there are also several differences. Freud s theory focuses on the sexual perspective of the
mind. In his theory, the three basic components are id, ego, and superego. Jung s theory is to Adler, the
neuroses consists in the effort for the individual to overcome the feeling of inferiority, and the outward
signs and symptoms are the manifestations of those dexterities developed to this end. The Adlerian
concept serves to bridge the gap between the organists and the functionalists (White, 1917). Jung and
Adler were associated with Freud and took excessive interest in his theory of psychoanalysis.

March 19th is celebrated as the Feast of St. Joseph. It began in the Middle Ages when there was a
drought in Sicily. The desperate people living there asked Joseph for rain in exchange for a huge meal
in his honor. Of course, the rains came and the land was thriving again. In keeping their promise, the
people prepared an enormous feast, beginning the tradition of the St. Joseph s Table and giving food to
the less fortunate. Today, many churches and organizations still host St. Joseph s Tables, in which
parishioners or members prepare and donate large amounts of food, all meat less items. The Italians do
believe in the supernatural. Many general supernatural beliefs of the Catholic Church are intertwined
with older beliefs. An example is Sicily, in which, Arabic and Greek influences have blended with
popular Spanish beliefs and been incorporated into Catholicism. They have beliefs in the evil eye,
charms, spells, messages through dreams, and various other types of omens. They believed in witches
with powers and anti witches. Many of the beliefs have died out with the knowledge of the modern
age. The people of the capital of Italy, Rome, do not believe in one single all powerful god. Instead,
they believe in many. To the Romans, religion was less a spiritual experience than a contractual
relationship between humanity and the forces controlling the existence of people. Some Italians

Gender and Power Dyanics in ; ‘Oroonoko’ by Aphra Behn and...
Paper 1; Oroonoko by Aphra Behn and The Rape of the Lock by Alexander Pope
The relationship between gender and power dynamics is relevant to the understanding of literature
through the ages. However, the widespread problematic belief that women are simply the passive,
powerless victims of male power is oversimplified and outdated. Power relations, as theorized by
Foucault in The History of Sexuality are far more complex; the dynamic is ever changing, from
moment to moment and therefore any interpretation of the exchange of power requires a much deeper
analysis than what meets the eye. The idea of power determined from and by sexuality can be
understood in a comparison of the novel, Oroonoko by Aphra Behn with the satiric poem, ... Show

Pope describes Belinda who is meant to represent women in the era in the lines: Her lively looks a
sprightly mind disclose,/ Quick as her eyes, and unfixed as those: ( The Rape of the Lock , Canto II,
p.50). The use of the word sprightly refers to her being gay, vivacious, somewhat ditzy and her being
unfixed implies that Belinda, and women in general are fickle and unable to focus on any one thing.
Overall, Pope generalizes women as superficial, sprightly and attention seeking. This creates some
debate as to whether these women are powerful in being significant enough to be represented in the
first place or powerless in having their essence being snatched away by Pope. Additionally, while the
poem attempts the critique the values associated with femininity such as vanity, shallowness, self
obsession, and beauty, in order to do so it lends these qualities power to be the central theme of the
poem, in a sense glorifying the very same values he aims to critique.
Both texts pivot directly around female sexuality and its implications in a patriarchal culture where
women s bodies and their purity are regulated and valued as their true value. Imoinda is presented as

Essay On The Increase Of Disease Among Drug Users
The Increase of Diseases Amongst Drug Users
Tanishia Q. Cheatham
William H. Turner Technical Arts School
Abstract
Another method used to reduce the spread of HIV among injecting drug users is through needle
exchange programs (NEPs). In these programs, users can either exchange their used needles for an
equal number of new, sterile needles or receive new ones without the requirement of an exchange.
These programs also offered a variety of other services in addition to syringe exchange, including
HIV/AIDS education and counseling, condom distribution, substance abuse, medical treatment
referrals, or other social service referrals, distribution of alcohol swabs, on site HIV testing and
counseling, screening for other infections, and some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Needle exchange programs are social services that allow injecting drug users to obtain intravenous
needles/syringes and associated equipment at little or no cost. It is based mainly on the viewpoint of
harm reduction that attempts to reduce the risk factors for diseases such as HIV/AIDS and hepatitis.
Needle exchange programs are authorized by the 2015 National H.I.V./AIDS Strategy for the United
States and the 2012 President s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief Blueprint. The increasing amongst
drug users can be reduced with the help of needle programs and additional programs that provide
similar services.
Purpose for Needle Exchange Programs
Most people believe that if they approve of needle exchange programs to operate throughout their
community, they will see an enormous increase in the number of needles/syringes discharged on their
streets as well as an increased rate in drug use. It doesn t only benefit individual drug users by helping
to prevent the transmission of blood borne diseases such as HIV and Hepatitis C, but it also benefits
the communities in which they operate by keeping used needles/syringes off the streets, giving
homeless or unstably housed drug users alternatives to street involvement, and serving as a gateway to
engage difficult to reach people in services such as mental health and

Pathology Between China and the West and the Crisis of the Chinese Identity
So the book I decided to do for my book review is The Afterlife of Images: Translating the

modernity. By doing so, it tries to point the various outlines of the varied contexts in which the
meanings of medical representations were created and transformed in the late nineteenth century and

The Importance of Perception in Face to Face Communication...
The Importance of Perception in Face to Face Communication between Individuals
Perception is one of the most important fragments of the communication process. It allows us all to
see an individual experience of the world. The process is simple, the brain actively selects, organises
and interprets stimuli, in order to process this experience.
Even before we engage in communication, we perceive things about the receiver. Whether it s the bad
things we ve heard about them previously which would build up a feeling of dislike or the good things
e.g. support same football team. Both of these perceptions are examples of stereotyping which will
affect the expectation of an individual in a different way ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Our communication is not produced within any single system, but in the intersection of several
interrelated systems, each of which is self standing necessarily described by dedicated theories, but
each of which is both the product of the others and, in its own limited way, an instance of the other.
The medium is, as McLuhan famously observed, a message that is inherent to every message that is
created in or consumed from a medium. The medium is, to the extent that we can select among media,
also a language such that the message of the medium is not only inherent to a message, but often an
element of its composition. In what may be the most extreme view enabled by the processing of
messages within media, the medium may also be a person and consumes messages, recreates them,
and makes the modified messages available for further consumption. A medium is really none of these
things. It is fundamentally a system that enables the construction of messages using a set of languages
such that they can be consumed. But a medium is also both all of these things and the product of their
interaction. People learn, create, and evolve media as a vehicle for enabling the creation and
consumption of messages.
The same might be said of each of the constituents of this model. People can be, and often are, the
medium (insofar as they

A Jazz Concert Report
An Evening of Jazz
On November 17th, 2016, I attended a jazz concert and had quite a time. The experience was
captivating, and gave me a warm feeling inside. There were three different bands that play in the hour
slot, and all of them sounded magnificent, but The Santé Fe Jazz Combo and Santa Fe Big Band stood
out the most. The only thing these two bands have in common is that some of the musicians play in
both bands. Otherwise, these jazz fanatics are polar opposites.
When listening to The Santé Fe Jazz Combo, you get a mellow feeling that courses through your body.
Their opener Recorda Me, which was my favorite piece, featured solos from Dr. Hamilton on Piano,
Spencer Hoefert on Guitar, Ben Salhanick on Bass, Doc B on Alto Sax, Wyatt Thomas on Trombone,
and Noah Woolard on Drum Set. The song had a moderate swing tempo that kept your feet tapping up
until the solo. First, the brass rang through their part, then the electric instruments. Next came the
bass; he was strumming so fast but he was barely audible. The pianist busting through with a tricky
piano rift and the drummer finished it off with an intense solo. Every rim shot sent a jolt into the air

of the most eye opening books I have read on the Civil War. Mr. Goodrich exposes one of the darkest
times in our American History. As the eyes of the nation was immersed on the big battles to the east,
lawlessness ruled along the Kansas and Missouri border. I found this book to be very interesting
because it told the story from people loyal to the union, the south, and fellow citizens just trying to
make a living. Kansas was a union state and was anti slavery. Missouri was also a union state but the
majority of its population was pro slavery. This resulted in a state of war within its own borders
between the U.S. Army and Missouri citizens. This was a civil war within the Civil War. The State of
Missouri never officially joined the Civil War due to its own internal struggles. Most of the male
civilians, farmers that were killed were neutral regarding slavery but were

Essay On King George III
King George III did a lot of stuff to America for no reason. We shouldn t of put up with as long as we
did. George made people who owned house just let British soldiers come into their house and stay
there for as long as they want. Some people do not have room for these soldiers just to come into their
house like that. It was are for the people of America to just accept that. When the British troops
committed a crime they got away with it. None of this is fair. British cut off all trading with the world
and we are loosing everything we have because we can t make money or get different things to
survive. British is a bigger countries and far more developed than us at the moment so we can t make
money like they can. British thinks it s protecting their countries and job but it s not protecting or

We are trying to help shoulder the burden of payment. All the British armies was trying to keep the
peace between everyone. King George was just trying to protect their country and America by
stopping trade between countries. He had a very good strategy on how to keep money coming in
without trading though. It is completely acceptable and needed for military rule over military. We don
t want civil authority ruling over soldiers. King George was just trying to protect his country plus keep
our developing to get as good as his. I don t think he did anything out of harm. He didn t plan on
damaging the lands of the America and just wanted peace. King George was a very good king and had
very good reasons for everything he did. We don t need to be blaming everything on him. He was
trying to help our country. He taxed a lot of items in our country but every country has to survive
some how. I don t think King George III was as bad as everyone thought we

Summary Paper on Guides and Tutorials
Introduction
Until starting this class, I never realized the limited knowledge I had on writing. The four assigned
reading pamphlets and tutorials, while not very long, have enlightened me. This eye opening is not
large, measured on what is to come, but the overall experience is dramatic so far.
The required readings are CSU Global Guide to Writing and APA Requirements pamphlet, Avoiding
Plagiarism tutorial, Tour of the Virtual Library video, and How to Search for Articles tutorial. I have
learned about APA requirements, plagiarism, and features of the library using these resources and will
highlight a couple items learned from each.

CSU GC Library
When thinking of a library, almost everyone envisions rows and rows of book, magazines, and other
periodicals neatly on shelves for everyone to browse. CSU GC has taken this to the digital age with
thousands of scholarly papers, e books, and articles available at a keyboard away. The availability to
Ask a Librarian who answers your questions 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (CSU GC Library, 2014)
brings the library to you instead of you to the library. If a student is in need of library guidance, one
can also sign up for small classes to assist in resource use. With just these small items, the ability to
navigate the CSU GC library is a fantastic source for almost all academic needs.
Library Search
Searching the library comes with its own unique obstacles though. Not every article or journal is
searchable by a single search engine, BESCOhost, ProQuest, and LexisNexis are the primary three
CSU GC s library uses to find resources. There is a quirk when saving any article though, you must
create a login profile for each search engine. While both of these issues are somewhat of a nuisance,
the availability of information at your beck and call is astounding.
CONCLUSION
While these guides and tutorials are brief, they do hold an abundance of information. Using CSU

What Is The Theme Of The Ice Man By Haruki Mrakami
Essay on The Ice Man by Haruki Murakami Haruki Murakami was born in 1949 in Kyoto, a city in
Japan. He lived his life in a time and place, where traditions had absolute influence on people and
were very highly valued. This inspired him when he was writing his stories. For influence, he had to
read Western literature. In his works, Haruki Murakami shows that he supports the idea of more
freedom against traditions, but still presents the risks of choosing not to follow them.
Haruki Murakami supports freedom and this is shown in The Ice Man as when the woman decides to
marry the ice man, the idea that the love between them is important is more justified than the idea that
her family and she cannot explain the decision to others in an understandable way.
Haruki Murakami supports freedom, but still suggests that one should not go too much over the line.

her decision is justified. Her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is a huge risk when rebelling. For sure, there will be a major change, but it is not certain in
which direction it will be.Traditions are valuable life, but this does not necessarily mean that they are
to be followed strictly, which is suggested in The Ice Man . Murakami has a background of living in a
time where traditions have taken control over thinking in Japan and he expresses his view in this story.
The Ice Man was as isolated and alone as an iceberg floating in the darkness. (Camus 212) is a quote
with very important meaning. First, all those ice metaphors are not so much about the iceman as a
being, but about how people see him and believe him to be. Secondly, darkness symbolizes his feeling
as icebergs usually do not float in darkness, but here, he feels lonely and even though he does not
show it, it is probably because he has developed to

Human Relationship With Waterfowl
Humans have a very influential relation ship with waterfowl, theres two sides to it. On one side
humans have completely changed waterfowls natural migrating path. With the modern expansion of
cities, certain species have adapted and now use them as refuges, such as the Canada goose. Through
climate change humans have disrupted waterfowls natural patterns of migration, and most species are
un able to adapt quickly enough to the rapidly changing temperatures. The other side of humans
relationship with waterfowl is that through our modern agriculture practices waterfowl don t
necessarily need to migrate to get food, only to leave the cold. Most waterfowl species take advantage
of the surplus grain left in agriculture fields, some of which have became overpopulated and harm
other species of waterfowl. With the increase of agriculture fields, wetlands have been destroyed and
in tern waterfowl have lost a significant number of areas to breed and reproduce in. There is a
overpopulation of certain species and a decrease in wetlands, it is important to stop both of these
issues otherwise certain species will be taken over by. Hunters and bird watchers are those who are
primarily concerned with these issues, but other out doors mans such as fisherman should be
concerned. As shown in The Role of Waterfowl in Lower Great Lakes Aquatic Food Webs by M. L.
Schummer and S. A. Petrie, waterfowl play a important role in maintaining the food webs for fish. It is
crucial that action is

Organic Food Is A $29-Billion-Dollar Industry And Is Growing.
Organic food is a $29 billion dollar industry and is growing. Organic food is food that are

foods also have varying types from, Organic food which is an item that is produced using organic

Chalcogen Essay
Also known as the oxygen family, chalcogens are sulfur (S), selenium (Se), tellurium(Te), and
polonium (Po). Oxygen (O) is also in group 16, where chalcogens are located on the periodic table.
While it is defined as a chalcogen, oxygen and oxides are often separated from chalcogens because its
chemical behavior is much different than that of the other elements in the group. The other elements in
the group show similar patterns in their electron configurations resulting in similar chemical behavior.
The name chalcogen means ore former, derived from the Greek words chalcos: ore and gen:
formation. An interesting fact is that oxygen is the most abundant element on Earth, second most in
the Atmosphere, and third in the whole universe. It is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Selenium itself is a nontoxic element, but when made into a compound, it can become very toxic. For
example, Hydrogen selenide is intolerable to humans. Tellurium s name is derived from the latin word
for earth, tellus . It is very brittle and has a silvery white appearance. When a human is exposed to
even the smallest amount of Tellurium, they develop Tellurium breath , which smells like garlic. It was
discovered by Franz Joseph Mδller von Reichenstein, who was a the chief inspector of mines in
Transylvania, but was name by M. Klaproth. Polonium, which is very poisonous and radioactive, was
discovered by Marie Curie. She named it after her native country, Poland. It is very rare and is made
only in small quantities through a nuclear reaction of bismuth. An interesting fact about polonium is
that there actually is no real world use for it, but it can be used as a poison.
This should be a paragraph about history which this thesis statement is NOT representative of. Once
again this paragraph is a list of facts not a summary of trends with specific examples. You need to cut
back.
The Chalcogens group of elements is comprised of oxygen, sulfur, selenium, tellurium, and polonium.
Joseph Priestly discovered the element Oxygen in 1776. Priestly loved to experiment and did many
experiments of carbon dioxide, even with his meager money intake. These experiments led him
eventually to experimenting on the isolation of oxygen. Although Priestly was the

The Latin American Intellectual Field
In contemporary times, the Latin American intellectual field holds a rich tradition of communication
research and cultural studies, with remarkable thinkers, original work, and overcoming several
obstacles. Indeed, since at least the mid 20th Century, some scholars (such as Luis Ramiro Beltrán and
Eliseo Verón) criticized the lack of empirical work in the field as well as its heavy dependence on
foreign interpretive frames and methodological tool kits. Part of this critique included that researchers
in communication were neglecting Latin American particular features in their lenses and by that time,
the early researchers in communication were just applying alien perspectives that did not appropriately
suit to local challenges. Such criticism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Above all it is a contemporary commitment to acknowledge an intellectual path which has contributed
to a better understanding of Latin America s own history and problems and also to project them into
the future. These intellectual roots situate me in a particular scholarly, political, and epistemological
vein and it also contributes to set up the foundations for further critical research on communication
and cultural studies in Latin America. The commitment of the founders of the Latin American school
of communication to engaging with their communities and their contemporary struggles should inspire

Palace At Knossos
Question Set #4: Gardner, Ch. 4
1. Cite at least three different functions that the Palace at Knossos served.
The Palace at Knossos served as a landmark with mythological implications as it was said to be the
home of King Minos and also gave rise to the important myth of Theseus. The maze like system of the
palace was used to tell the story of Theseus who slew the Minotaur while being hunted by the creature
in the Palace s labyrinth. The Palace was also used for storing goods like wine, grain, oil, and honey
which were kept in large jars in the magazine rooms. Furthermore, the palace complex served as a
government building as it had administrative and workrooms on the north and south of the east west
corridor. Interestingly, the palace may have also had an entertainment room as there is a theateresque
design with steps that may have been used as seating, although its purpose is not entirely known.

Lascaux? How are they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As an island civilization, the peace loving Minoans focused almost solely on trade. However, the
Mycenaeans were were concerned with warfare and advanced their civilizations through conquest, as
well as trade. This is evident in their architectures, as the high walls and narrow passages of
Mycenaean architecture appear to be more defensive than aesthetic nature. Furthermore, their home
city state was constructed upon a large mountain, aiding the defensive nature of the civilization. Also,
their art often depicts forms of warfare, The Warrior Vase and the lion hunt dagger for instance. On the
other hand, the Minoans had very open architecture, especially the Palace at Knossos. Moreover, most
of the Minoan art depicts different animals and creatures of the sea, as well as people acting to further
life, rather than take

Year 11 Changing Perspectives Essay ( Looking for...
Personal Growth Practise Essay The process of changing perspectives inevitably contributes to
personal growth. Analyse how this idea has been represented in your prescribed text, Looking for
Alibrandi , and one related text of your choosing. As individuals, when faced with gruelling or
traumatic experiences, we are often compelled to feel a sense of loneliness and seclusion. However, it
is precisely these times of isolation, through reflection and a willingness to embrace the situation that
can force us to reconsider the original outlooks we hold, often resulting in a greater appreciation for
life and a deeper understanding of who we truly are. This idea is clearly communicated in the feature

A close up camera shot of Josie s languishing facial expression as John s body passes by, suggests the
inner emotional turmoil she is experiencing, yet simultaneously the passing coffin signifies her
acceptance of him slowly moving away from her, out of her life. The idea of her acceptance of John s
death is further reinforced at the end of the scene through Woods use of symbolism. The subsequent
shredding of his letter, followed by the release of the pieces out of the window symbolically serve to
represent her letting go as well as allowing John the freedom that he has always longed for. Josie s
feelings of isolation and separation following John s death are captured during the bus ride scene
where a closeup camera shot of Josie s facial expression is juxtaposed to that of a group of laughing
boys, totally oblivious to the inner turmoil that she faces. It isn t until towards the end of Winton s
novel that Pikelet is confronted with the spontaneous death of his father, a significant catalyst that
simultaneously compels him to irrevocably reconsider the importance of family; suddenly being left
with only a mother, and helps him to develop a greater appreciation for life by understanding the
instantaneous nature of death My father s death hit me with a force that seemed targeted and personal.
The metaphorical portrayal of death here, clearly communicates the severity of the impact on

Research Paper On Leonardo Da Aphrodite
The Louvre, located in the famous Paris, France, is home to the world s most historic and famous
pieces of art. It is a destination that I hope to experience before my life is over and I m sure a large
majority of people feel the same way. For this assignment, I choose the most famous and remembered
pieces of art known to mankind. Those would be the Mona Lisa, painted by the one and only
Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci a.k.a Leonardo Da Vinci, and the sculpture of Aphrodite, sculpted by
Praxiteles. The Mona Lisa started in Florence roughly around 1503 and is thought to be a portrait of
Lisa Gherardini, the wife of a Florentine cloth merchant named Francesco del Giocondo, hence the
alternative and less known title, La Gioconda. However, Da ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The statue reflects the sculptural research of the late Hellenistic Period: classical in essence, with
innovatory features such as the spiral composition, the positioning in space, and the fall of the drapery
over the hips. Aphrodite, or also known as The Venus de Milo was discovered not too long ago in
1820 on the island of Melos, Milo in modern Greek, located in the south western Cyclades. The
Marquis de Rivière presented it to Louis XVIII, who donated it to the Louvre the following year and
the statue won instant and lasting fame. Essentially two blocks of marble, it is comprised of several
parts which were sculpted separately, bust, legs, left arm and foot, then fixed with vertical pegs, a
technique which was fairly common in the Greek world, especially in the Cyclades, where this work
was produced around 100 BC (Louvre). The goddess originally wore metal jewelry, a bracelet, a pair
of earrings, and a headband, of which only the fixation holes remain and the marble may have been
embellished with, obviously now faded, polychromy. Sadly, the arms were never found, leaving her in
her iconic fashion, a figure with broken

The executive management team of Chemco Chemicals does meet the requirements needed to form a group as they possess the following characteristics: 1. Interdependence: this refers to the dependence of others within the members of the group, therefore member A influences member B, and member B influences member A and so on (Cartwright Zander, 1968). All the above mentioned managers depend in each other to ensure the smooth running of their departments. 2. Goals: each and every group must seek to serve a purpose of some sort. Relationships in the workplace are based on task interdependence (Forsyth, 2010). The organizational structure or composition of the group is the bridge between the organizational level strategies planning as well as the staffing decisions, therefore it is important for all of the departmental directors and managers in the case study to participate and be on the same level of understanding with the entire group. Question 4 Maude (2011) states that interaction teams need high task cohesion to be regularly successful, while for moderate or low interaction teams cohesion is less important to success. Again, we have social cohesion, the degree to which members of the group get on with one another, and task cohesion, the extent to which members cooperate to achieve the group s goals. The following factors affect cohesion: 1. Stability Cohesion in the group exists or develops when a group for the longest period has been with the same members. 2. Similarity Cohesion develops when group members share the same similarities in terms of age, sex, skills and attitudes. 3. Size A cohesive group is one that is small in size 4. The director does this to help engage the audience and capture their attention. A director might cut out some dialogue from the book and add some action packed scenes in the movie to entertain and engage the audience. The movie version of The Maze Runner is directed by Wes Ball with minimal changes to the main plot and characters from the book. The process an individual goes through to make a decision is a complicated one. Deciphering the system one needs to look at where the theories started and how they evolved. The expected utility theory (EU theory) otherwise known as the Decision Theory that is essentially weighing the options and determine the maximum value (compensatory) under the assumption an individual is a rational being. The possibility of loss can be compensated by a potential large gain (Busemeyer 2015). • 10. Designer Of Bottega Veneta, Designers And Clothing Companies In the beginning, men s suits had rules: thy must be constricting and uncomfortable, and be a sturdy black, navy blue, or gray. Comfortable clothes were restricted to weekends and only weekends. But in the midst of a men s wear boom, the rules, and the suits, are loosening up. Men s wardrobe in general has evolved immensely since designers and clothing companies first began creating solely men s wear lines of clothing. Designers and clothing companies not only have men s lines, but they include more than just suits: slacks, button downs, gold shirts, sports coats, polo shirts, and relaxed fit t shirts are just some of the vast array of items now including in men s clothing lines. Men are no longer being confined to the old stereotype of suits during the day, pajamas at night, and comfortable less formal clothes on the weekends. And as a result of this paradigm shift, this more relaxed attitude is being applied to suits themselves. As Tomas Maier, designer of Bottega Veneta, put it, There s a lot of men out there who do not need those sartorial codes. They re not lawyers, they re not working on Wall Street. In recent decades the men s suit has settled into a comfortable rut: stiff, dark, breaking just so over the loafers, a dress code so uniform that it s often overlooked. This becalmed style ended with the entrance of designer Thom Browne and tailor Rocco Ciccarelli. The duo disrupted men s wear with suits whose hemlines took up residence near the anklebone, ... Bradbury creates each character to act with self interest while putting himself in place of those characters and acts in self interest for them as well as himself. A section from The Veldt shows Mr. Hadley s and Bradbury s self interest, As for the nursery, thought George Hadley, it won t hurt for the children to be locked out of it awhile. Too much of anything isn t good for anyone. And it was clearly indicated that the children had been spending a little too much time on Africa. That sun. He could feel it on his neck, still, like a hot paw. And the lions. And the smell of blood. Remarkable how the nursery caught the telepathic emanations of the children s minds and created life to fill their every desire. The children thought zebras, and there were zebras. Sun sun. Giraffes giraffes. Death and death. Hadley believed he was doing the best thing for himself by locking the nursery so he wouldn t have to feel the sun, see the lions, or smell the blood. In ... • 12. Critical Analysis Of Death Of A Salesman How can two people watch or read the same story and yet, interpret it completely differently? Does it have to do with the author s intentions, or maybe it has to do with the viewers own backgrounds and ideologies? Whatever the case may be, viewing one piece of work can lead to a wide array of opinions and critiques. It is through the diversity of such lenses that Death of a Salesman, by Arthur Miller has become one of the most well known plays in modern history. There are many different ways in which a play can be criticized, however, criticisms from the approaches of a Marxist and reader response will be utilized to further dissect Death of a Salesman. Marxist criticism sees pieces of works as a struggle between different socioeconomic classes; what better way to see Miller s play than for what it is at face value, the struggle of a middle class man trying to achieve the American dream (1750). On the other hand, a reader response criticism comes from either an objective or subjective view; in this case Death of a Salesman will be viewed with a subjective lens based on Willy s deteriorating mental health (1746). Through a Marxist s eyes, Death of a Salesman represents the struggle of middle class families in a capitalistic world. From an early age, kids are taught to do well in school, be involved with sports and activities, and to go on to college; all in hopes of achieving the American Dream. In any circumstance, the right activity or approach is the one that will create the best net advantages or the most reduced net costs (when all options have just net expenses). Furthermore, utilitarianism rule holds that any activity is morally right if and just if the aggregate results of a similar demonstration are more than the results created by some other activity a specialist could have done in its place. In any case, customary utilitarians would preclude that an activity from securing a specific kind is dependably either right or off base. Rather, each activity would need to be measured given its specific conditions. Utilitarian perspectives have additionally been exceedingly powerful in financial aspects. A long line of business analysts, starting in the nineteenth century, contended that monetary conduct could be clarified by expecting that individuals dependably endeavor to amplify their utility and that the utilities of products can be measured by the costs individuals will pay for them. Ecological Ethic Ecological ethics is the moral view that nonhumans parts of the earth should be saved for their own purpose, paying little mind to whether this gives individuals advantages. The first stock exchange in Australia was founded in 1861 in Melbourne followed by the Sydney, Hobart, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth one in each capital of every Australian state. In 1937 the Australian Associated Stock Exchange (AASE) was to establish to secure rules for brokers and commission rates. Representatives from each exchange were present to represent their exchange at the AASE. Up until 1960 trades were made by a call system in which the names of each company was called out and broker put in their bids. Post 1960s the system changed and they hired employees called chalkies who wrote bids and offers on a board throughout the trading hours and recorded all transactions. On April 1st, 1987 the Australian Parliament formed the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX). This caused the merging of all six independent stock exchanges throughout the country into one national exchange instead of six separate state run institutions. Along with establishing a national exchange they also launched a new trading system call the Stock Exchange Automated Trading System (SEATS), in response to the increased volume of exchanges. This was a significant improvement from the chalk and board method, which had been used for almost a century. However, around 40,000 years ago the large populations of Neanderthals died off and became extinct. The mysterious circumstances that surrounded their extinction drove various research teams to undertake the task of excavating numerous Neanderthal sites to collect fossilized bones, and artifacts in order to learn more about this group of ancestral humans. Over the past years, major technological advances have allowed researches to analyze the fossilized remains of the Neanderthals which led to major discoveries. For example, researchers at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology found that the ear ossicles of Neanderthals and modern humans had similar functions but differed in terms of structure. In the study, the researchers used high resolution computer tomography (CT) to scan numerous Neanderthal skulls from different sites in order to determine if there are ossicles present in the middle ear cavity (tympanic membrane). The scans revealed ossicles in fourteen different skulls which came as a surprise to the researchers since the bones of the ossicles are fragile and break down easily in the soil. The researchers then used microcomputed tomography scans and 3D geometric morphometrics in order to virtually reconstruct the bones of the ossicles which are composed of the malleus, incus and stapes. The 3D reconstructions of the ossicles allowed the scientists to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During the summer, I volunteered at my church s sport summer camp. There I watched over the children who were around the ages of five to ten. Other counselors and myself, watched over the children while their parents were at work. I helped the children play sports such as basketball and volleyball as well as even spent time with some of the children making friendship bracelets. I spent a week volunteering at this camp because, for me, doing service brings me closer to the life Jesus said we should live; it helps me to not think about myself for once and to think about other people. Additionally, over the summer I also volunteered at Sportime summer camp. There I did similar things which included playing sports and rely games with the children as well as helping them with arts and crafts. I volunteered there because it was seven hours a day when I would focus on the children and help them with whatever they needed. At both Sportime and my church, the heads of the camps were grateful for my help because they were low on volunteers and staff members. I agreed to help because I did not see a better way to spend my time. It meant a lot for me to be able to be such a help to those people. In my second quarter, I volunteered at OLMA s annual Christmas Tea Party. There, I helped set up the tables with hot water and sugar as well as helped serve food and dessert. I made sure everyone s kettles were always filled with hot water and that there was enough tea for everyone. Additionally, I helped clear the tables and throw away people s garage during the event. After the event, I cleared all the tables from the dross and tablecloths, along with the other volunteers. In addition, I helped to bring the cups and kettles that needed to be washed back to the kitchen. The week before I knew that the people running the event were in need of some student volunteers because they did not have many, so I was glad to volunteer. • 24. Business Marketing Of Foreign Buyers Part II. Active marketing to foreign buyers Chapter 22. Decisions to make based on demand for your real estate and marketing budget To market to foreign buyers or not? This is the same powerful question as the famous To be or not to be? As a real estate seller of just one private property or a developer with many properties or a realtor you have to answer this question to yourself, having been equipped with all the preliminary information you can gather before you start doing anything. Marketing costs money and takes time, so, without thoughtful consideration and a solid marketing plan with a budget you do not have to start spending money and time. There are obvious situations where and when it is the only possibility to sell your property: your country or area is in economic and financial problems and thus local buyers do not buy. You have to answer Yes . There are less obvious situations when the local real estate market is in balance more or less right now, but you hear a lot around how other sellers, developers and realtors benefit from selling real estate to foreigners. Your choice then. Even in a hot seller s market when it is no problem to receive a quick offer from a local buyer, sometimes it makes sense to market to foreigners anyway as you can get a higher price from the foreign buyers under the circumstances. However, the widespread problematic belief that women are simply the passive, powerless victims of male power is oversimplified and outdated. Power relations, as theorized by Foucault in The History of Sexuality are far more complex; the dynamic is ever changing, from moment to moment and therefore any interpretation of the exchange of power requires a much deeper analysis than what meets the eye. The idea of power determined from and by sexuality can be understood in a comparison of the novel, Oroonoko by Aphra Behn with the satiric poem, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pope describes Belinda who is meant to represent women in the era in the lines: Her lively looks a sprightly mind disclose,/ Quick as her eyes, and unfixed as those: ( The Rape of the Lock , Canto II, p.50). The use of the word sprightly refers to her being gay, vivacious, somewhat ditzy and her being unfixed implies that Belinda, and women in general are fickle and unable to focus on any one thing. Overall, Pope generalizes women as superficial, sprightly and attention seeking. This creates some debate as to whether these women are powerful in being significant enough to be represented in the first place or powerless in having their essence being snatched away by Pope. Additionally, while the poem attempts the critique the values associated with femininity such as vanity, shallowness, self obsession, and beauty, in order to do so it lends these qualities power to be the central theme of the poem, in a sense glorifying the very same values he aims to critique. • 35. A Jazz Concert Report An Evening of Jazz On November 17th, 2016, I attended a jazz concert and had quite a time. The experience was captivating, and gave me a warm feeling inside. There were three different bands that play in the hour slot, and all of them sounded magnificent, but The Santé Fe Jazz Combo and Santa Fe Big Band stood out the most. The only thing these two bands have in common is that some of the musicians play in both bands. Otherwise, these jazz fanatics are polar opposites. When listening to The Santé Fe Jazz Combo, you get a mellow feeling that courses through your body. Their opener Recorda Me, which was my favorite piece, featured solos from Dr. Hamilton on Piano, Spencer Hoefert on Guitar, Ben Salhanick on Bass, Doc B on Alto Sax, Wyatt Thomas on Trombone, and Noah Woolard on Drum Set. The song had a moderate swing tempo that kept your feet tapping up until the solo. First, the brass rang through their part, then the electric instruments. Next came the bass; he was strumming so fast but he was barely audible. The pianist busting through with a tricky piano rift and the drummer finished it off with an intense solo. The book opened my eyes to see what people experienced during these events. The events that were happening were completely changing all aspects of their lives. The Taliban changed the lives of all people in Afghanistan. All of this information was all foreign and unfamiliar to me and I imagine it would be to most Americans. It is important to attempt to understand the changes and experiences people went through, even if they do not directly relate to us. Although all residents were impacted during this time, it is important to understand how the Taliban altered the lives of women residing in Afghanistan. The Taliban started to control the country and their leadership directly impacted the women. Women who once had jobs outside of their home, using their skills to provide for their family were no longer allowed to work from anywhere outside of their home. Instead, they were forced to stay inside their house. The restriction that was put on the women made it harder on them to provide for their families and find ways to work. He lived his life in a time and place, where traditions had absolute influence on people and were very highly valued. This inspired him when he was writing his stories. For influence, he had to read Western literature. In his works, Haruki Murakami shows that he supports the idea of more freedom against traditions, but still presents the risks of choosing not to follow them. On one side humans have completely changed waterfowls natural migrating path. With the modern expansion of cities, certain species have adapted and now use them as refuges, such as the Canada goose. Through climate change humans have disrupted waterfowls natural patterns of migration, and most species are un able to adapt quickly enough to the rapidly changing temperatures. The other side of humans relationship with waterfowl is that through our modern agriculture practices waterfowl don t necessarily need to migrate to get food, only to leave the cold. Most waterfowl species take advantage of the surplus grain left in agriculture fields, some of which have became overpopulated and harm other species of waterfowl. With the increase of agriculture fields, wetlands have been destroyed and in tern waterfowl have lost a significant number of areas to breed and reproduce in. There is a overpopulation of certain species and a decrease in wetlands, it is important to stop both of these issues otherwise certain species will be taken over by.
