The Poetry of Wallace Stevens
Though Wallace Stevens commonly uses a blank verse writing style in his poetry, staying true to the
style s definition of unrhymed lines with consistent meter, Sunday Morning differs from the poet s
other work as he maintains consistency in stanza structure as well. Here, each of the eight stanzas
consists of 15 feet and contain 10 beats per line (classic iambic pentameter). This extremely organized
structure seems ironic, as the poem s theme involves the death of Christianity and organized religion.
However, it also lends to Stevens message of the importance of life and death, and the immaculate
nature and consistency seen in earth s life cycles. Sunday Morning is an example of Wallace Stevens
romantic period writing style, as he articulates the human connection to nature and the existence of
spirituality within ones physical surroundings.
The uncompromising structure of the poem provides a meditative rhythm (showing Stevens
connection to Milton and the romanic era) as the speaker reflects on the relationship between oneself
and the natural environment. Simultaneously, Stevens use of blank verse and inclusion of both
enjambments and end stopped lines allows for artistic exploration, mirroring a human thought pattern
and the speaker s mental exploration of personal beliefs. The syntax resembles a racing mind, as the
sentence structure is the only aspect of the poem that does not follow a strict pattern. This is evident as
the speaker ponders a Pagan perspective,

Bucs s NFL Draft
Well, Bucs fans, the first day of this year s NFL draft is in the books. The Bucs did manage to find
Buffalo to trade out of the number 7 spot, which was the smart thing to do after Saquon Barkley,
Bradley Chubb and Quenton Nelson were all of the board at that time, as expected. So Tampa Bay
ended up trading the 7th overall pick for the 12th pick and another two 2nd rounders, which was a
brilliant move. Picking up Vita Vae, Defensive Tackle out of Washington, might have come as a
surprise to many, yet it was a solid pickup. The Chris Baker experiment did not pan out. Now Licht is
looking to seek help alongside Gerald McCoy by using his first rounder on the best Defensive Tackle
available this year. Vita Vae is 6 4 and weighs 347 lbs. He

An Analysis Of Jo March In Little Women By Louisa May Alcott
Gillian Jacobs, an American actress, once said I think there s a sort of satisfaction in defying people s
expectations (Jacobs 9). Jo March is a perfect example of how one can find vindication in not doing
what is expected of he or she. Jo March is a defiant character in the novel Little Women written by
Louisa May Alcott. This novel tells the story of four young sisters and their mother, from Concord,
Massachusetts, growing and maturing into ladies. The tight knit family struggles with living through
the years without their father because of the Civil War. During this time, women were expected to
follow certain rules. In fact, they were expected to feel ashamed if they did not follow these
guidelines. Throughout the novel, one can see how Jo March defies the traditional domestic role of a
women in her time period, the 19th century, by having a masculine personality and bringing in an
income for her family. The first example of how Josephine March goes against the traditional role of a
young women in this time period is her masculine personality. This attitude would stand out in this
time period because ladies were expected to wear big long dresses with their hair nicely done, and go
to events, such as balls, every weekend. Jo, however, is the exact opposite of that stereotype.
Josephine first shows signs of having a masculine personality when explaining that she would prefer if
everyone started calling her Jo, a nickname which is definitely more manly than Josephine

Celebrity and Image Selling
Musicians, actors, athletes, and models all depend on publicity from the media. Promotions through
magazines, newspapers, concerts, movies, CD s, sports networks and social media determine their
success. Not only do the musicians, actors, athletes, and models depend on social media, but also on
the fans. The media allows the public to be involved and interested in what s happening in different
aspects of celebrity entertainment. The influence the media has on celebrity and image selling is very
effective in producing successful careers.
Musicians are one of many aspects of entertainment that are impacted by the media. Possibly the
biggest shift in music has come through social media through an increased level of interaction
between musicians and fans (Evans). Now that we have social media it benefits the artist and the fans.
The artist is able to broadcast, promote and share things that were not possible before. An example of
this would be the artist can share their latest news, achievements or plans with their fans. The fans are
able to keep up with the artist, be more interactive with them and communicate with them better. An
example of this would be they can message , leave comments, or watch videos of the celebrity. These
are just some of the ways that the media has impacted the music industry.
Not only does the media help the music industry connect with their fans but it also

Ancient Greek Constellations
Have you ever had one of those days where you d take a nice walk in the night time and just gaze into
the night sky, and when you look up you see a bunch of beautiful stars. Well, if you have taken a
closer look you may have noticed that the stars have patterns that create images called constellations.
Constellations are a group of stars that are connected together to represent mythological images of
animals and objects from the past that is located in the celestial sphere 1, 3. They were mainly
discovered by the early people, primarily used as references to coordinate directions, measure time,
predict farming seasons, and for religious studies3. According to the International Astronomical
Union, there are 88 constellations in the sky, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As constellations move about one degree per day, they complete a 360 degrees circular motion in a
year, making them return back to the same position as they were the year before3. As mentioned
earlier the rotation of constellations depends on where you look and your location. For instance, a
person who looks up North would tend to realize that the constellations are rotating in the
counterclockwise direction around the north celestial pole, which is beside Polaris3. The explanation
to why it seems like the constellations are rotating counterclockwise is because the earth spins from
west to east, meaning that it is rotating to the right, while the stars and constellations above, moves
from east to west3. In contrast, those who face the south, will see the stars rotate clockwise3. For a
person who is facing the east will see the stars rise in the front of them and set behind, while a person
who faces the west will see the stars rise behind and set in front of them3. Though constellations travel
from East to West like the planets, people from different parts of the world will have a different
standpoint on the movements of the constellations. Now that we have an understanding of
constellations, lets take a look at a few notable ones, starting with the

Temporary Work Growth In Canada
Ever since Canada suffered a recession (temporary economic decline due to the reduced industrial and
trade activity), temporary employment in Canada has grown more rapidly and people are finding it
hard to find permanent jobs. Temporary work growth has grown three times faster than permanent
employment between 2009 and 2012, and most of the temporary work growth has occurred within the
young people. Positively, being in temporary work can lead to permanent work and can make one
more flexible, which mostly benefits the young people in the workforce. However, this is a huge issue
for older people in the workforce because those in temporary work get paid forty six percent less than
people in permanent employment, and rarely get job benefits such ... Show more content on

people in the workforce. On the bright side though, I love what the future looks like for job searching

Abstract
As heath care providers we need to keep mindful of the care we provide to several different religious
traditions. It is up to the health care professional to respect and understand the ideals that affect our
patients and their family members. In this paper we will compare the philosophies of three diverse
faiths. The faiths chosen are Islam, Christian Science and Buddhism, and how they compare to
Christianity. We will learn about basic beliefs, spiritual perspectives on healing, and the components
of healing such as meditation, prayer and other rituals they follow. Furthermore, ... Show more content

When sick with an illness they feel that they must engage in positive actions. To prevent illness, they
must be clear and relieved of negative imprints that the world may bring their way. Buddhism has a
strong belief that anything that occurs to them now is a reflection of a previous action, not only in this
current life but of previous lives too. The Buddhism religion believes that the start of all problems
stems from selfishness; one must avoid greed, anger and thoughts of jealousy. When death occurs they
feel that their consciousness that holds their karmic imprints separates from their body and travels into
a new life. Meditation and visualization are used to heal by reciting mantras and use of visualizing
holy images (Hawter, 1995). In comparing Buddhism to Christianity, Buddhism predates Christianity
by 500 years and could have influenced the beliefs that resulted in Christianity. In the Christian faith it
is believed that Jesus Christ is the son of God who died for our sins then was resurrected from the
dead. Buddhist does not believe in an immortal soul or a supreme being. Christianity believes that
there is only one life with one soul, whereas Buddhism believes in countless lifetimes of progression
towards enlightenment. Christianity believes in consequences of good and evil, also following the 10
commandments in everyday life. Buddhism follows an eight fold path of universal suggestions to a

An Analysis of Seawater Intrusion in Coastal Aquifers
Seawater intrusion is defined as the movement of seawater into freshwater aquifers which are
generally made of ground water near the coast. An interface or dispersion zone is the area where fresh
water and seawater meet. Analytical models and numerical models as well as Mathematical methods
are used to find or to investigate solutions to this, as the seawater contaminates the fresh drinking
water. The aim of this essay is to give an account of two modelling approaches that describe what
happens at the interface by discussing the models. As well as to discuss how tides may have an impact
on seawater intrusion. Ataie Ashtiani, Volker and Lockington(1999:17) suggested that there is a direct
relationship between the area of the dispersion, the scale, the shape, the degree of the dispersion area,
and parameters such as hydraulic conductivity, the comparative densities of the salt and fresh water as
well as the rate of discharge of the ground water. There is limited accuracy to the usage of the models
as the models are limited by assuming various situations. Altaie Ashtiani et al (1999:18) gestates the
rare occurrence of salt water intrusion in ground water in two ways: the sharp interface approach and
the disperse interface approach. The sharp interface approach is the approach in which it should be
assumed that the salt water and fresh water are immiscible fluids which are separated by a sharp
interface. This approach includes the diffusion and the effects of the hydrodynamic

Artificial Intelligence And Artificial Technology
The discussion of artificial intelligence is ultimately based on the development of computers. As early
as 1930s, Turing, a scientist, tried to make an intelligent machine in his short life in accordance with
his computational theory and even hoped to prove his theory Any wisdom. After all, it was nothing but
an extremely complicated operation. All of Turing s explorations focus on wisdom, while the concept
of artificial intelligence (Artificial Intelligence) was co sponsored by John McCathy and Marvin
Minsky. They also co founded MIT Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, the world s most influential
scientific research facility. If Turing s Wisdom Machine focuses on using the machine to implement
one of the six major human intelligence functions, such as vision, language, learning, computing,
reasoning, and cognition, Minsky argues that the problems facing the development of artificial
intelligence is that if the machine has not yet solved the problem of human beings, because once any
problem can be solved by the machine, human beings will automatically remove the field of artificial
intelligence to explore. Back to the scientific point of view, you want to make a clear change in
artificial intelligence, the first point is to clarify the complexity of the human brain, and then can be
analogy. From a scientific perspective, how complex is our human brain? An average human brain has
100 billion neurons. An average brain weighs about 1,500 grams and consumes an average

similar features to Gilgamesh; he is burly enough that none can withstand his arms and Gilgamesh did
not meet anyone who could do the same (The Epic of Gilgamesh 4). Gilgamesh is captivating and
endearing, but he lacks in practical skills. In the epic, Enkidu is present to enhance Gilgamesh and to
make him a preferable person.
Enkidu represents the innocent of the Epic of Gilgamesh. The innocent is an inaugurated male or

decrease on net profit margin of 9.43 meanwhile Dominoes has had only a decrease of 3.20. This
financial statement illustrates that the operation has done something that customers are not satisfied
with. Based upon reviews online for Papa Johns they have had a lot of complains on wrong orders and
rude staff (John s, 2016); due to this fact many of their potential customers choose an alternative pizza

in a palace in the foothills of the Himalayas and lived a luxurious life. From the moment he was born,

of Asia and Far East: India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Mongolia, Tibet, China, Korea and Japan. Buddhism
gets its name from the title Buddha (Enlightened One) through which the first and the mainly well

Child s Real Time Referential Processing Development
Introduction Language processing has been a largely studied area of research over the past _ years.
More recently, studies have looked into real time referential processing abilities in children in order to
understand how processing works as well as what contributes to levels of efficiency. Some factors that
effect proficiency of this ability includes exposure to infant directed speech, onset of exposure to first
language, socioeconomic status, as well as various individual differences such as language
impairments and/or deafness. This paper strives to collect supporting ideas of what factors contribute
to a child s real time referential processing development. Exposure to Language In some cultures,
around the world, it is common to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The findings support that experiencing language fosters development of vocabulary through positively
influenced processing efficiency. It has also been seen that children from higher socioeconomic status
families show greater interaction and exposure to language which leads to larger vocabularies as well
as efficient real time processing (Fernald, A., Marchman, V. A., Weisleder, A., 2013). Ultimately,
children who are more exposed to speech are able to interpret words, create mental lexicon
representations leading them to be able to familiarize with words quicker and with better accuracy
during speech in real time. This ability later shows rapid growth in vocabulary. (Weisleder et al., 2013)
The looking while listening test is a good resource, however in some cases this test cannot be used.
Such reasons arise in the assessment of deaf children that heavily rely on ASL signs as their primary
tool for communication. Spoken language learning processes require visual and auditory modalities
where as comprehension and processing of sign language requires visual attention to real world
referents as well as attention to visual linguistic signs (Lieberman et al., 2015). Lieberman et al.
(2015) at the University of California looked at real time processing in ASL signs and finds evidence
to support that when deaf children are exposed to ASL from birth, they are developing sub lexical
features within their

What Was The Expansion Of Westward Expansion
As more Americans began traveling west in the mid 1800s, it soon became not a matter of if but when
we would effectively connect the two coasts. Current methods of traveling were extremely slow and
costly, and many were pushing to advance into the west. Fortunately, on July 1, 1862, President
Lincoln signed the Pacific Railway Act, which authorized the Union Pacific Railroad and the Central
Pacific Railroad companies to build a railroad that started from Omaha, Nebraska and ended in
Sacremento, California. The government offered money and land, about 6400 acres, for every mile of
track laid. The two companies raced to build as much track as possible and eventually met at
Promontory Point, Utah on May 10, 1869. They had built 1775 miles of track through the Sierra
Nevada mountains, across the Great Plains, and endured a great number of difficulties along the way.
It was a joyous event when the final spike was driven into the ground, finally completing the
transcontinental railroad that connected the east and the west.
The mid 19th century was a time of westward expansion in the United States. Americans believed that
it was their destiny, and for many their god given right, to expand from coast to coast. The railroad
was seen as a way to reach this ideal and, as a stereotypical cowboy may say, Boy howdy did it. When
the final spike was driven in, people left and right celebrated, shooting cannons and ringing bells.
After a divisive Civil War, the transcontinental railroad

Analysis Of Alexis De Tocqueville s Life
It was Monday, October 27th, 2014; Alexis De Tocqueville was casually heading down to the local

line for his turn, he noticed two individuals ahead of him. At closer inspection, he was in awe to
realize these two gentlemen happened to be Adam Smith and Karl Marx, two great philosophers he
had always wanted to meet and converse with. Smith and Marx, realizing their admirer staring,
immediately recognized Tocqueville as well and at that moment, all three of their eyes lit in
excitement. After turning in their votes, the three agreed to go to a nearby restaurant for some nachos
because who does not like nachos after voting on a Monday night. Since they had just come from
voting for the elections, it was only appropriate the topic of their discussion should be something
related. De Tocqueville, taking the initiative when they had settled down, decided to throw a question
to Marx and Smith after they had finished snacking on perfectly dressed nachos and having a few
drinks. But before he could, Adam Smith declared he was too tired to go through what is about to
occur, so they decided to just leave him as he passes out on his seat. Looking at Marx, Tocqueville
asked, Well, now that we are here, and have just finished voting and eating, I would like to ask you

A Comparison Of Superman And Me By Sherman Alexie
Throughout literature many pieces of work can be compared and contrasted to each other. In
Superman and Me, Sherman Alexie discusses the challenges he faced as a young Indian adult, who
found his passion of reading at an early age, living on the Spokane Indian Reservation. He challenged
the stereotype of the young Indian students who were thought to be uneducated while living on a
reservation. Likewise, in the excerpt from The Hunger of Memory, Richard Rodriguez shares his
similar experience of being a minority and trying to break stereotypes of appearing uneducated. He
shares the details of his life growing up learning a different culture and the struggles he faced
becoming assimilated into American culture. In these two specific pieces of literature discuss the
importance of breaking stereotypes of social and educational American standards and have similar
occupational goals; on the other hand the two authors share their different family relationships.
A large similarity between the two works of literature consist of the journey of breaking certain
standards of education particularly in people of color. In the essay Superman and Me, Alexie grew up
on the Spokane Indian Reservation where to a non Indian adult the expectation of the Indian students
were very low. With these exceptions set at such a low standard the desire to give students a proper
education were extremely limited. The students, as Alexie says, struggled with basic reading, and
overall, were expected

Guantanamo Bay sits on what was once called Oriente Province. Located on the southeast corner of
the island country of Cuba. Oriente Province has since been divided into five distinct provinces, Las
Tunas, Holguin, Granma, Santiago de Cuba, and Guantanamo. Guantanamo Bay is situated in the belt
of the Caribbean trade winds; it receives sea breezes from the southeast during the afternoons, and
shortly after sunset, the wind changes to a northerly direction and becomes a land breeze. The constant
breezes help to keep the bay cooler than most semi arid deserts. However, the mountains that surround
the bay to the west, north, and east shelter it from cloud systems, thus producing less precipitation and
maintaining the lands aridity. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Still to this day the Marines and Cuba s Frontier Brigade still man the fence line 24 hours a day.
During the Cuban Missile Crisis, October 1962 to December 1962 family members of the service
people were evacuated to the U.S. as President Kennedy announced the presence of Soviet missiles in
Cuba. In 1964 Fidel Castro cut off the water supply to the base, in retaliation of some Cuban
fishermen getting fined for fishing in Florida waters. So water had to be shipped in to the base. Fidel
Castro accused the United States, of stealing water. So base commander John D. Bulkeley had a
portion of the supply pipe excavated and an 18 inch portion of the pipe was cut and removed, to prove
that water was not being stolen from Cuba. The hole was never filled in and the pipe is still exposed,
at the northeastern corner of the base, where the Marines sleep when they are on the fence line duty.
Since the water was shut off, Guantanamo Bay has been self sufficient, and produces 3.4 million
gallons of water daily at its desalination plant and more than 800,000 kilowatt hours of electricity
daily, with the help of the four 262 feet tall wind turbines, located at the top of John Paul Jones Hill on
the Windward side of the Base. U.S. troops had scattered 75,000 land mines across the no man s land
between the U.S. and Cuban border, creating the second largest minefield in the

National Athletic Director At The National College...
One day I hope to get the opportunity to work for the National College Athletic Association. The
National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) is an association made up of 1,261 institutions,
conferences, organizations and individuals devoted to the administration of intercollegiate athletics
(NCAA.org). The purpose of the National College Athletic Association is to maintain intercollegiate
athletics as an essential part of the educational program and the athlete as an essential part of the

I think that in order to be a successful athletic director, one needs to keep the functional areas of sport
management in mind. These four areas include: planning, organizing, leading, and evaluating
(Masteralexis, Barr, Hums, 2015). The first aspect of planning is something that athletic directors need
to be very good at doing. An athletic director needs to have both short and long term goals. If I were to
become an athletic director, I would want to make sure all of the student athletes received the proper
tools to succeed both on and off the court. I would make sure each student athlete, scholarship and non
scholarship, had a tutor available to them at all times. I know that the University of Florida allows
each athlete to have a tutor, however, it is optional. The reason that it is optional is because it is
something that is enforced by the coaches. Therefore, I would make it a university athletic department
policy that all coaches must force their student athletes to use a tutor. I would want to make sure each
athlete used their tutor to their advantage so they could be aware of what was going on in the
classroom. This would also allow students to not be stressed about their studies, and that way they
have a proper balance between their sport and education. It is a huge goal of the NCAA for their
students to have a proper balance in life, therefore I think through this plan I could implement that
balance. In order to make this possible

Reed Supermarkets: A New Wave of Competitors

Question #1: After careful deliberation and analysis of the Reed Supermarkets case, the marketing
team has concluded that Mr. Jack Morrissey s goal of attaining a market sales share of 16% as being
achievable. It is important to note that market sales share is calculated in terms of dollar sales
(revenue) generated as opposed to the quantity (amount) of items sold, with respect to the entire
market. Reed currently has a market sales share of 14% in Columbus with 25 stores in the surrounding
area. Ultimately, the team has elected to attain the additional 2% of market sales share by focusing ...

The notion of our concept is to change the ways in which prices are perceived by customers while
maintaining the same quality products. The goal here is to offer products that are a bit more expensive
but within the dollar range from our competitors. More specifically, for a same sized item sold at the
dollar store, Reed will be charging a higher price for our product, but within a one dollar range. For
the same product in a smaller size than the dollar store item, Reed will be charging the same price. To
illustrate this point, take for instance, a 300 mL ketchup bottle sold at the dollar store for $1. That
same product will be sold at Reed for $1.30 or alternatively, $1.00 for a 200 mL bottle. Another
adjustment Reed can adopt is to price products in a way that the tens decimal place is moved down. So
instead of charging the regular $2.25, we can charge $2.19 before taxes. The figures vary slightly and
are fairly hard to detect. As a result, the price differences become negligible and easy to for customers
to disregard.
A third strategy is the increase in product varieties and introduction of new items with different
features. Also recommended is the use of reference pricing, or the fair price consumers expect to pay.
If ketchup prices are generally deemed to hover around $2.00 for a 300 mL bottle, the

What strategic alliances (including suppliers and market channels) has Xiaomi established in China?
What role do strategic alliances play in Xiaomi s international expansion? Xiao Mi came up with a
very well thought plan of a vast wide array of suppliers and market channels. China was a retail
dominated mobile device market. Any mobile phone manufacturer could choose whether or not to get
a space in retail store and sell phones to the public. Xiaomi had decided to use online selling as their
primary means of distibution on the purpose of lowering sales costs and its products prices which
proved to be a success in its domestic market(China). They established partnerships with different
suppliers that enabled them to cut cost and also opened the door for a wide array of developing
products which is more commonly called the internet of things, their goal is to have different
household devices to be controlled by their brand of smartphone. For their market channels, it is so
interesting that they relied more on word of mouth which led their marketing only 3% of their budget.

Modern Piracy on Ocean Voyages Essay
Are you concerned about pirate attacks on your ocean voyages? Although it may only seem like a
good movie plot, the threat of piracy still exists. Nowadays, pirate incidents are often not covered in
mainstream media. One researcher commented on the topic, saying that piracy has ...been
romanticized in such films as Disney s Pirates of the Caribbean (Lunsford, What Makes Piracy Work?
). Nevertheless, pirates have proved their aggressive behavior through history and their effects on
society. Modern and past pirates share similarities and differences, and countries around the world are
looking for ways to control the issue before it spreads.

Today, piracy has resurfaced, but in smaller numbers. It is centered mainly around the Middle East on
important waterways. For instance, Somalia and the Gulf of Aden are hotspots for pirates, because the
passing cargo ships are full of supplies for African relief (May, Laura. History of Piracy ).
These new pirates are similar to their predecessors in a variety of aspects. They are split up into two
groups: those who work for themselves and others who have an alliance with a government. The most
famously known group is currently known as the Somali pirates. They attempted to attack and capture
the U.S. cargo vessel called Maersk Alabama in April 2009. However, they were fought off, and their
one hostage, the ship s skipper, was rescued five days later (Boot, Max. Pirates, Then and Now ).
Pirate techniques of stealing and escaping have not changed either. Sea robbers continue to elude the
authorities by using state and country flags to become unrecognizable. Their ships are designed to be
fast and easy to maneuver through coves and channels. On the other hand, technological advances
have made it easier for ordinary ocean vessels to become victims of piracy. Wooden ships with
shallow bottoms and cannons were ingenious a century ago, but speedboats have become the new
pirate transportation. Somali pirates tend to have a larger, mother ship used for deep ocean assaults

The Civil War Of 1861
The Civil War took place in 1861 and it lasted up until 1865. It was a war between the United States
or, The Union army rather, and eleven deep rooted southern states known as the Confederacy. The
Civil War occurred mainly as a direct response to slavery. The South preferred to keep slavery and the
North simply wanted to preserve the Union. However, there were many other incidents that occurred
and there were different battles that caused the Civil War to have its end results. Those battles will be
addressed in the following paragraphs. The very first battle took place in 1861. It was known as both
The Battle of Bull Run and the Battle of Manassas. The Union army, led by General Irvin Manassas,
was slightly larger than the Confederate army, led by P.G.T. Beauregard. It took place in northern
Virginia when the Union army marched to Manassas in attempt to attack the Confederates. The attack
appeared to be successful, but the Confederates managed to survive. They later went on to
counterattack the Union and McDowell and his army were forced to retreat back to Washington. This
battle was very detrimental and overwhelming for the Union army, and left them in a state of disbelief.
However, in 1861 the Union were still able to make substantial progress. They were eventually able to
proclaim western Virginia a new renowned state admitted as West Virginia in 1863. Shortly after the

A Clean Well Lighted Place
In A Clean, Well Lighted Place , Hemingway uses themes of depression and life as nothingness by
using symbols, and imagery. Two waiters in a Spanish café are waiting late one night for their last
customer to leave. As they wait, they talk about the old, deaf man sitting at the bar. It is revealed that
he has recently attempted suicide. The younger waiter in the café is very agitated and wants the old
man to go home. He says, I wish the suicide attempt had been successful. The younger waiter says that
he has a wife waiting for him at home, and is very unsympathetic. The older waiter sympathizes and
tells the young waiter that the old man had once had a wife as well. The old man eventually leaves
when the young waiter denied him any further drinks. The old man explains that drinking in the café is
completely different than drinking at home. He describes the old man as, One of those who like to stay
late at the café... with all those who do not want to go to bed. With all those who need a light for the
night. He is reluctant to close because there could be a lot of people that may need the café. The older
waiter points out that the bright atmosphere of the café is different than that of a pub. After the
younger waiter leaves, the older one asks himself why he needs a clean, well lighted place. The
answer is that he needs a contrast of order because of a nothing that

Glucose And Starch Lab Report
Starch and Water Diffusing Into Either Iodine or Glucose Through a Semi Permeable Dialysis Tubing
Diffusion is a high concertation of molecules spreading randomly to a lower concertation. This an
example of passive transport that does not require ATP. A lipid bilayer can only easily allow small
molecules that are non polar through it. Water is an exception because it can defuse through with a
process called Osmosis. Special aquaporin proteins allow the water through the semi permeable
membrane. Starch is a polysaccharide made of many glucose monosaccharides bonded together. It is
insoluble in water. Glucose is soluble in water and is also a monosaccharide.
Hypothesis
Setup 1 Starch will not diffuse out of the tubing. It is a polysaccharide, so it will be hard to diffuse
through because of its size. The liquid iodine will be able to diffuse into the tubing. Even though
iodine is slightly charged, they are small, which will allow them to diffuse. ... Show more content on

largest oil and gas company based on reserves. The motives and consequences of these mergers were
similar. In this paper, the Exxon Mobil transaction is analyzed as representative of these major oil
merger transactions. As a clinical study, this paper seeks to provide a format for analyzing mergers
under eight major topics: (I) industry characteristics, (II) merger motivations, (III) deal terms and
event returns, (IV) valuation analysis, (V) sensitivity analysis, (VI)

tests of merger performance, (VII) antitrust considerations, and (VIII) tests of merger theory.
I. Industry Characteristics
The oil industry, like other industries, has been forced to adjust to the massive change forces of
technology, globalization, industry transformations, and entrepreneurial innovations. The oil industry
has some special characteristics as well. Oil is a global market with 53% of volume internationally
traded. It accounts for about 10% of world trade, more than any other commodity. While the

The Victorian Era Of British History Essay
The Victorian Era of British history was the time of Queen Victoria s rule from 20 June 1837 until her
passing, on 22 January 1901. It was a long stretch of peace, prosperous period regarding sensibilities
and political concerns to the section of the Reform Act 1832. The time was gone before by the
Georgian period and took after by the Edwardian period. The laterhalf of the Victorian age generally
concurred with the first divide of the Belle period of mainland Europe and the Gilded Age of the
United States. Among the numerous improvements that made Victoria s rule appear to be
extraordinarily not quite the same as prior periods in British history, two are particularly meriting
consideration. The primary is the French Revolution (1789 1815), and the second is the Industrial
Revolution that started around 1780 and quickened all through the Victorian Age. Victorians survived
earth shattering times they expected to confront the world after a long and extreme fight with
Revolutionary and Napoleonic France, which had toppled an out of date medieval respectability for
the purpose of law based convictions, just to passage opportunity, parity, and society by military
violence. In England there was much early vitality from essayists and taught individuals for the
Revolution s claim that human foundations were improvable, not for all time regular or god
designated. The progressives toppled an undemocratic and ruffian structure and planned to put set up

Essay on language development
Most young children develop language rapidly, moving from crying and cooing in infancy to using
hundreds of words and understanding their meanings by the time they are ready to enter kindergarten.
Language development is a major accomplishment and is one of the most rewarding experiences for
anyone to share with a child. Children learn to speak and understand words by being around adults
and peers who communicate with them and encourage their efforts to talk.
As I observed Olivia, a typically developing 5 year old girl, I referred to the Symbolic Play Scale
Check List (Westby, 1980). This check list helped me to recognize the different stages of appropriate
language development during play for her age group. The list is based on play and ... Show more

Her pronunciation and fluency was very clear compared to a few other children in her class. Once the
city was done, Olivia let everyone know it was clean up time by singing the famous clean up time
song.
This is typical of a child of Olivia s age group. According to the checklist on Play, at stage level X, a
child should be able to plan a sequence of pretend events. Organizes what she needs both objects and
other children (Westby, 1980). Also, according to the checklist on language, a child should use
relational terms (then, when, first, next, last, while, before, after)(Westby, 1980).
It was now time to move on to another activity. She has quite the imagination. Olivia, with the help of
her classmates, set the scene that she was a princess with long hair just like a recent book the class
read. Her classmates were her hairdressers, and make up artists. She would pretend her salon was a
very big and pink castle. Olivia would tell the others how to braid her hair and put make up on her.
She told them quot;do my hair first then my make up, and I want to wear only pink eyeshadow, and
pink lipstick. quot; Olivia is extremely creative with her imagination, which is also apart of the check
list. Highly imaginative, sets the scene without realistic props (Westby, 1980). Also, Olivia
communicated with her peers in full conversations. I was very amazed at the appropriate level in

Job Shadowing Essay
The Day in the Life of a Cook I woke up as normal that morning of the job shadow; though, my
stomach did flip flops as I was anxious about the day ahead. My clothes had been laid out the night
before, and I had my clipboard loaded with all the paperwork along with my charged laptop. Deep
breaths helped sooth my nerves, but my nerves still wouldn t go all the way. My job shadow was at
Augusta Head Start, where my mother worked, since it was not far from home, and since I had
considered culinary science, I thought it would be beneficial if I job shadowed some one in the
culinary world. The environment was clean, but very muggy due to no AC. I felt very sorry for Mrs.
Doell, the one I was job shadowing, but she managed to keep a smile during

  • 2. The Poetry of Wallace Stevens Though Wallace Stevens commonly uses a blank verse writing style in his poetry, staying true to the style s definition of unrhymed lines with consistent meter, Sunday Morning differs from the poet s other work as he maintains consistency in stanza structure as well. Here, each of the eight stanzas consists of 15 feet and contain 10 beats per line (classic iambic pentameter). This extremely organized structure seems ironic, as the poem s theme involves the death of Christianity and organized religion. However, it also lends to Stevens message of the importance of life and death, and the immaculate nature and consistency seen in earth s life cycles. Sunday Morning is an example of Wallace Stevens romantic period writing style, as he articulates the human connection to nature and the existence of spirituality within ones physical surroundings. The uncompromising structure of the poem provides a meditative rhythm (showing Stevens connection to Milton and the romanic era) as the speaker reflects on the relationship between oneself and the natural environment. Simultaneously, Stevens use of blank verse and inclusion of both enjambments and end stopped lines allows for artistic exploration, mirroring a human thought pattern and the speaker s mental exploration of personal beliefs. The syntax resembles a racing mind, as the sentence structure is the only aspect of the poem that does not follow a strict pattern. This is evident as the speaker ponders a Pagan perspective, ... • 3. Bucs s NFL Draft Well, Bucs fans, the first day of this year s NFL draft is in the books. The Bucs did manage to find Buffalo to trade out of the number 7 spot, which was the smart thing to do after Saquon Barkley, Bradley Chubb and Quenton Nelson were all of the board at that time, as expected. So Tampa Bay ended up trading the 7th overall pick for the 12th pick and another two 2nd rounders, which was a brilliant move. Picking up Vita Vae, Defensive Tackle out of Washington, might have come as a surprise to many, yet it was a solid pickup. The Chris Baker experiment did not pan out. Now Licht is looking to seek help alongside Gerald McCoy by using his first rounder on the best Defensive Tackle available this year. Vita Vae is 6 4 and weighs 347 lbs. He ... • 4. An Analysis Of Jo March In Little Women By Louisa May Alcott Gillian Jacobs, an American actress, once said I think there s a sort of satisfaction in defying people s expectations (Jacobs 9). Jo March is a perfect example of how one can find vindication in not doing what is expected of he or she. Jo March is a defiant character in the novel Little Women written by Louisa May Alcott. This novel tells the story of four young sisters and their mother, from Concord, Massachusetts, growing and maturing into ladies. The tight knit family struggles with living through the years without their father because of the Civil War. During this time, women were expected to follow certain rules. In fact, they were expected to feel ashamed if they did not follow these guidelines. Throughout the novel, one can see how Jo March defies the traditional domestic role of a women in her time period, the 19th century, by having a masculine personality and bringing in an income for her family. The first example of how Josephine March goes against the traditional role of a young women in this time period is her masculine personality. This attitude would stand out in this time period because ladies were expected to wear big long dresses with their hair nicely done, and go to events, such as balls, every weekend. Jo, however, is the exact opposite of that stereotype. Josephine first shows signs of having a masculine personality when explaining that she would prefer if everyone started calling her Jo, a nickname which is definitely more manly than Josephine ... Promotions through magazines, newspapers, concerts, movies, CD s, sports networks and social media determine their success. Not only do the musicians, actors, athletes, and models depend on social media, but also on the fans. The media allows the public to be involved and interested in what s happening in different aspects of celebrity entertainment. The influence the media has on celebrity and image selling is very effective in producing successful careers. Musicians are one of many aspects of entertainment that are impacted by the media. Possibly the biggest shift in music has come through social media through an increased level of interaction between musicians and fans (Evans). Now that we have social media it benefits the artist and the fans. The artist is able to broadcast, promote and share things that were not possible before. An example of this would be the artist can share their latest news, achievements or plans with their fans. The fans are able to keep up with the artist, be more interactive with them and communicate with them better. An example of this would be they can message , leave comments, or watch videos of the celebrity. These are just some of the ways that the media has impacted the music industry. Ancient Greek Constellations Have you ever had one of those days where you d take a nice walk in the night time and just gaze into the night sky, and when you look up you see a bunch of beautiful stars. Well, if you have taken a closer look you may have noticed that the stars have patterns that create images called constellations. Constellations are a group of stars that are connected together to represent mythological images of animals and objects from the past that is located in the celestial sphere 1, 3. They were mainly discovered by the early people, primarily used as references to coordinate directions, measure time, predict farming seasons, and for religious studies3. As constellations move about one degree per day, they complete a 360 degrees circular motion in a year, making them return back to the same position as they were the year before3. As mentioned earlier the rotation of constellations depends on where you look and your location. For instance, a person who looks up North would tend to realize that the constellations are rotating in the counterclockwise direction around the north celestial pole, which is beside Polaris3. The explanation to why it seems like the constellations are rotating counterclockwise is because the earth spins from west to east, meaning that it is rotating to the right, while the stars and constellations above, moves from east to west3. In contrast, those who face the south, will see the stars rotate clockwise3. For a person who is facing the east will see the stars rise in the front of them and set behind, while a person who faces the west will see the stars rise behind and set in front of them3. Though constellations travel from East to West like the planets, people from different parts of the world will have a different standpoint on the movements of the constellations. Now that we have an understanding of constellations, lets take a look at a few notable ones, starting with the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Temporary Work Growth In Canada Ever since Canada suffered a recession (temporary economic decline due to the reduced industrial and trade activity), temporary employment in Canada has grown more rapidly and people are finding it hard to find permanent jobs. To prevent illness, they must be clear and relieved of negative imprints that the world may bring their way. The Buddhism religion believes that the start of all problems stems from selfishness; one must avoid greed, anger and thoughts of jealousy. When death occurs they feel that their consciousness that holds their karmic imprints separates from their body and travels into a new life. Meditation and visualization are used to heal by reciting mantras and use of visualizing holy images (Hawter, 1995). In comparing Buddhism to Christianity, Buddhism predates Christianity by 500 years and could have influenced the beliefs that resulted in Christianity. In the Christian faith it is believed that Jesus Christ is the son of God who died for our sins then was resurrected from the dead. Buddhist does not believe in an immortal soul or a supreme being. Christianity believes that there is only one life with one soul, whereas Buddhism believes in countless lifetimes of progression towards enlightenment. • 9. An Analysis of Seawater Intrusion in Coastal Aquifers Seawater intrusion is defined as the movement of seawater into freshwater aquifers which are generally made of ground water near the coast. An interface or dispersion zone is the area where fresh water and seawater meet. Analytical models and numerical models as well as Mathematical methods are used to find or to investigate solutions to this, as the seawater contaminates the fresh drinking water. The aim of this essay is to give an account of two modelling approaches that describe what happens at the interface by discussing the models. As well as to discuss how tides may have an impact on seawater intrusion. Ataie Ashtiani, Volker and Lockington(1999:17) suggested that there is a direct relationship between the area of the dispersion, the scale, the shape, the degree of the dispersion area, and parameters such as hydraulic conductivity, the comparative densities of the salt and fresh water as well as the rate of discharge of the ground water. There is limited accuracy to the usage of the models as the models are limited by assuming various situations. Altaie Ashtiani et al (1999:18) gestates the rare occurrence of salt water intrusion in ground water in two ways: the sharp interface approach and the disperse interface approach. The sharp interface approach is the approach in which it should be assumed that the salt water and fresh water are immiscible fluids which are separated by a sharp interface. This approach includes the diffusion and the effects of the hydrodynamic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As early as 1930s, Turing, a scientist, tried to make an intelligent machine in his short life in accordance with his computational theory and even hoped to prove his theory Any wisdom. After all, it was nothing but an extremely complicated operation. All of Turing s explorations focus on wisdom, while the concept of artificial intelligence (Artificial Intelligence) was co sponsored by John McCathy and Marvin Minsky. They also co founded MIT Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, the world s most influential scientific research facility. If Turing s Wisdom Machine focuses on using the machine to implement one of the six major human intelligence functions, such as vision, language, learning, computing, reasoning, and cognition, Minsky argues that the problems facing the development of artificial intelligence is that if the machine has not yet solved the problem of human beings, because once any problem can be solved by the machine, human beings will automatically remove the field of artificial intelligence to explore. Back to the scientific point of view, you want to make a clear change in artificial intelligence, the first point is to clarify the complexity of the human brain, and then can be analogy. The findings support that experiencing language fosters development of vocabulary through positively influenced processing efficiency. It has also been seen that children from higher socioeconomic status families show greater interaction and exposure to language which leads to larger vocabularies as well as efficient real time processing (Fernald, A., Marchman, V. A., Weisleder, A., 2013). Ultimately, children who are more exposed to speech are able to interpret words, create mental lexicon representations leading them to be able to familiarize with words quicker and with better accuracy during speech in real time. This ability later shows rapid growth in vocabulary. (Weisleder et al., 2013) The looking while listening test is a good resource, however in some cases this test cannot be used. Such reasons arise in the assessment of deaf children that heavily rely on ASL signs as their primary tool for communication. Spoken language learning processes require visual and auditory modalities where as comprehension and processing of sign language requires visual attention to real world referents as well as attention to visual linguistic signs (Lieberman et al., 2015). • 18. What Was The Expansion Of Westward Expansion As more Americans began traveling west in the mid 1800s, it soon became not a matter of if but when we would effectively connect the two coasts. Current methods of traveling were extremely slow and costly, and many were pushing to advance into the west. Fortunately, on July 1, 1862, President Lincoln signed the Pacific Railway Act, which authorized the Union Pacific Railroad and the Central Pacific Railroad companies to build a railroad that started from Omaha, Nebraska and ended in Sacremento, California. The government offered money and land, about 6400 acres, for every mile of track laid. The two companies raced to build as much track as possible and eventually met at Promontory Point, Utah on May 10, 1869. They had built 1775 miles of track through the Sierra Nevada mountains, across the Great Plains, and endured a great number of difficulties along the way. It was a joyous event when the final spike was driven into the ground, finally completing the transcontinental railroad that connected the east and the west. The mid 19th century was a time of westward expansion in the United States. Americans believed that it was their destiny, and for many their god given right, to expand from coast to coast. The railroad was seen as a way to reach this ideal and, as a stereotypical cowboy may say, Boy howdy did it. When the final spike was driven in, people left and right celebrated, shooting cannons and ringing bells. After a divisive Civil War, the transcontinental railroad ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Smith and Marx, realizing their admirer staring, immediately recognized Tocqueville as well and at that moment, all three of their eyes lit in excitement. After turning in their votes, the three agreed to go to a nearby restaurant for some nachos because who does not like nachos after voting on a Monday night. Since they had just come from voting for the elections, it was only appropriate the topic of their discussion should be something related. De Tocqueville, taking the initiative when they had settled down, decided to throw a question to Marx and Smith after they had finished snacking on perfectly dressed nachos and having a few drinks. He challenged the stereotype of the young Indian students who were thought to be uneducated while living on a reservation. Oriente Province has since been divided into five distinct provinces, Las Tunas, Holguin, Granma, Santiago de Cuba, and Guantanamo. Guantanamo Bay is situated in the belt of the Caribbean trade winds; it receives sea breezes from the southeast during the afternoons, and shortly after sunset, the wind changes to a northerly direction and becomes a land breeze. The constant breezes help to keep the bay cooler than most semi arid deserts. However, the mountains that surround the bay to the west, north, and east shelter it from cloud systems, thus producing less precipitation and maintaining the lands aridity. ... During the Cuban Missile Crisis, October 1962 to December 1962 family members of the service people were evacuated to the U.S. as President Kennedy announced the presence of Soviet missiles in Cuba. In 1964 Fidel Castro cut off the water supply to the base, in retaliation of some Cuban fishermen getting fined for fishing in Florida waters. So water had to be shipped in to the base. Fidel Castro accused the United States, of stealing water. So base commander John D. Bulkeley had a portion of the supply pipe excavated and an 18 inch portion of the pipe was cut and removed, to prove that water was not being stolen from Cuba. The hole was never filled in and the pipe is still exposed, at the northeastern corner of the base, where the Marines sleep when they are on the fence line duty. The purpose of the National College Athletic Association is to maintain intercollegiate athletics as an essential part of the educational program and the athlete as an essential part of the student population. I think that in order to be a successful athletic director, one needs to keep the functional areas of sport management in mind. These four areas include: planning, organizing, leading, and evaluating (Masteralexis, Barr, Hums, 2015). The first aspect of planning is something that athletic directors need to be very good at doing. An athletic director needs to have both short and long term goals. If I were to become an athletic director, I would want to make sure all of the student athletes received the proper tools to succeed both on and off the court. I would make sure each student athlete, scholarship and non scholarship, had a tutor available to them at all times. I know that the University of Florida allows each athlete to have a tutor, however, it is optional. The reason that it is optional is because it is something that is enforced by the coaches. Therefore, I would make it a university athletic department policy that all coaches must force their student athletes to use a tutor. I would want to make sure each athlete used their tutor to their advantage so they could be aware of what was going on in the classroom. This would also allow students to not be stressed about their studies, and that way they have a proper balance between their sport and education. It is a huge goal of the NCAA for their students to have a proper balance in life, therefore I think through this plan I could implement that balance. In order to make this possible ... Question #1: After careful deliberation and analysis of the Reed Supermarkets case, the marketing team has concluded that Mr. Jack Morrissey s goal of attaining a market sales share of 16% as being achievable. It is important to note that market sales share is calculated in terms of dollar sales (revenue) generated as opposed to the quantity (amount) of items sold, with respect to the entire market. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The notion of our concept is to change the ways in which prices are perceived by customers while maintaining the same quality products. The goal here is to offer products that are a bit more expensive but within the dollar range from our competitors. More specifically, for a same sized item sold at the dollar store, Reed will be charging a higher price for our product, but within a one dollar range. For the same product in a smaller size than the dollar store item, Reed will be charging the same price. To illustrate this point, take for instance, a 300 mL ketchup bottle sold at the dollar store for $1. That same product will be sold at Reed for $1.30 or alternatively, $1.00 for a 200 mL bottle. Another adjustment Reed can adopt is to price products in a way that the tens decimal place is moved down. So instead of charging the regular $2.25, we can charge $2.19 before taxes. The figures vary slightly and are fairly hard to detect. As a result, the price differences become negligible and easy to for customers to disregard. A third strategy is the increase in product varieties and introduction of new items with different features. Also recommended is the use of reference pricing, or the fair price consumers expect to pay. If ketchup prices are generally deemed to hover around $2.00 for a 300 mL bottle, the ... It is centered mainly around the Middle East on important waterways. For instance, Somalia and the Gulf of Aden are hotspots for pirates, because the passing cargo ships are full of supplies for African relief (May, Laura. History of Piracy ). These new pirates are similar to their predecessors in a variety of aspects. They are split up into two groups: those who work for themselves and others who have an alliance with a government. The most famously known group is currently known as the Somali pirates. They attempted to attack and capture the U.S. cargo vessel called Maersk Alabama in April 2009. However, they were fought off, and their one hostage, the ship s skipper, was rescued five days later (Boot, Max. Pirates, Then and Now ). Pirate techniques of stealing and escaping have not changed either. Sea robbers continue to elude the authorities by using state and country flags to become unrecognizable. Their ships are designed to be fast and easy to maneuver through coves and channels. On the other hand, technological advances have made it easier for ordinary ocean vessels to become victims of piracy. • 44. The Victorian Era Of British History Essay The Victorian Era of British history was the time of Queen Victoria s rule from 20 June 1837 until her passing, on 22 January 1901. It was a long stretch of peace, prosperous period regarding sensibilities and political concerns to the section of the Reform Act 1832. The time was gone before by the Georgian period and took after by the Edwardian period. The laterhalf of the Victorian age generally concurred with the first divide of the Belle period of mainland Europe and the Gilded Age of the United States. Among the numerous improvements that made Victoria s rule appear to be extraordinarily not quite the same as prior periods in British history, two are particularly meriting consideration. The primary is the French Revolution (1789 1815), and the second is the Industrial Revolution that started around 1780 and quickened all through the Victorian Age. Victorians survived earth shattering times they expected to confront the world after a long and extreme fight with Revolutionary and Napoleonic France, which had toppled an out of date medieval respectability for the purpose of law based convictions, just to passage opportunity, parity, and society by military violence. In England there was much early vitality from essayists and taught individuals for the Revolution s claim that human foundations were improvable, not for all time regular or god designated. The progressives toppled an undemocratic and ruffian structure and planned to put set up more law based ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay on language development Most young children develop language rapidly, moving from crying and cooing in infancy to using hundreds of words and understanding their meanings by the time they are ready to enter kindergarten. Language development is a major accomplishment and is one of the most rewarding experiences for anyone to share with a child. Children learn to speak and understand words by being around adults and peers who communicate with them and encourage their efforts to talk. As I observed Olivia, a typically developing 5 year old girl, I referred to the Symbolic Play Scale Check List (Westby, 1980). This check list helped me to recognize the different stages of appropriate language development during play for her age group. The list is based on play and ... Once the city was done, Olivia let everyone know it was clean up time by singing the famous clean up time song. This is typical of a child of Olivia s age group. According to the checklist on Play, at stage level X, a child should be able to plan a sequence of pretend events. Organizes what she needs both objects and other children (Westby, 1980). Also, according to the checklist on language, a child should use relational terms (then, when, first, next, last, while, before, after)(Westby, 1980). It was now time to move on to another activity. She has quite the imagination. Olivia, with the help of her classmates, set the scene that she was a princess with long hair just like a recent book the class read. Her classmates were her hairdressers, and make up artists. She would pretend her salon was a very big and pink castle. Olivia would tell the others how to braid her hair and put make up on her. She told them quot;do my hair first then my make up, and I want to wear only pink eyeshadow, and pink lipstick. quot; Olivia is extremely creative with her imagination, which is also apart of the check list. Highly imaginative, sets the scene without realistic props (Westby, 1980). Also, Olivia communicated with her peers in full conversations. I was very amazed at the appropriate level in which ... • 46. Job Shadowing Essay The Day in the Life of a Cook I woke up as normal that morning of the job shadow; though, my stomach did flip flops as I was anxious about the day ahead. My clothes had been laid out the night before, and I had my clipboard loaded with all the paperwork along with my charged laptop. Deep breaths helped sooth my nerves, but my nerves still wouldn t go all the way. My job shadow was at Augusta Head Start, where my mother worked, since it was not far from home, and since I had considered culinary science, I thought it would be beneficial if I job shadowed some one in the culinary world. The environment was clean, but very muggy due to no AC. I felt very sorry for Mrs. Doell, the one I was job shadowing, but she managed to keep a smile during ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
