The Role Of Ict For Effective Implementation Of Internal...
Practice of ICT for Effective Implementation of Internal Control System and Internal Audit in the
Context of Nepalese NGOs
Introduction:
The technologies used in information and communication systems have changed operational
mechanism of the NGOs. Technology has shown its impact on the internal control system and internal
audit in the NGOs. The use of ICT as tool of internal control could be effective to identify fraudulent
transactions [2]. The study focus to explore the practices of ICT on the effective implementation of
internal control systems and its implication on internal audit of Nepalese NGO sector.
Literature Review:
The limited studies have been done on the study on ICT practices for internal control and internal
audit in the country, and not been carried out in the context Nepalese NGOs. A sound ICT system
provides a sure and guarantee medium of financial information delivery that covers the entire
accounting cycle of the NGOs [1]. The literature shows that the proper management reporting system
needs suitable information technology system [17].
Existing context of NGOs working in Nepal:
NGOs started operation in Nepal after 1950. Since then they are playing an increasingly important
role in public service by helping to execute to the policies in Nepal. Social Welfare Council (SWC) is

Effects Of Media Bias On Society
Media Bias and its effects on society Media includes news outlets, print news, and social networks
such as Facebook. Media can be a useful tool for society, allowing everyone to keep in touch with
what is happening around them and working almost as an educator for everyday people. This being
said media is also misused; the media is inaccurate, biased and potentially dangerous. To counter the
problem regulations should be in place along with balanced and fair reporting. Media can be misused.
Media has the power to influence society, from what people wear to what they believe. Media shows
society how to dress, act, and look. While media influence can be for the better it can also be for the
worst. Media has the power to reinforce bias in society ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Regulations should not be in place to control media but to ensure that what the media reports is real
and unbiased. The media should be in place to inform and educate the people not to scare or give
society bias. Regulations such as mandatory fact checking and education of media producers and
journalist should be in place to insure accurate news. Regulations are already in place in the United
states. The U.S. media today is frequently known as the Fourth Estate, an appellation that suggests the
press shares equal stature with the other branches of government created by the Constitution (US
Embassy) . While these regulations are in place, they are only suggestions as to what the media should
be doing. Balanced and fair reporting would counter act the media bias problem. One technique
already used on some talk shows around the world. The round table approach, having different people
with different opinions arguing their side, making for a balanced report and allowing the public to
make their own opinions based on the well rounded information provided (Boundless). Making the
majority of news do the round table method would let society make their own decisions and allow for

Essay On A Good Man Is Hard To Find
A Leopard Can Change Its Spots: The Misfit s Moral Awakening in O Connor s A Good Man Is Hard
to Find Throughout her short story A Good Man Is Hard to Find, Flannery O Connor exposes the
blatant racism and disjointed practice of religion within her mid twentieth century society. To display
these themes, she presents the grandmother and the Misfit, two exceedingly flawed and immoral
characters. However, being a Catholic writer, O Connor utilizes the Misfit to demonstrate grace s
ability to convert troubled and hateful people through the metamorphosis of their moral conscious.
Despite his initial lack of faith, the Misfit s morality and attitude towards religion are transformed by
the grandmother s graceful epiphany. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, the grandmother s desire to check on the state of the plantation represents her desire to
reminisce fondly about the times when slavery reigned. In the end, her perception alters, and she is
saved from this hatred. When the Misfit is about to kill her, she prays to Jesus, who answers her
prayers by bestowing grace upon her. Such grace transforms the grandmother s perception of reality as
she now says to the Misfit, Why you re one of my babies. You re one of my own children. By
declaring that the Misfit is one of her own, the grandmother realizes the interconnectedness (and,
therefore, the inherent dignity) of all humans. Watching this drastic transformation, the Misfit
observes the power of Christ with his own eyes. Along with visually witnessing divine revelation, the
Misfit also feels its impact. Before the Misfit shoots her, the grandmother reached out and touched
him on the shoulder. Within the Catholic faith, touching another s shoulder traditionally equates to the
transfer of grace between two people. Therefore, the grandma s touching the Misfit s shoulder
signifies the transfer of grace from her to him. Having never felt it before, this grace frightens the
Misfit, causing him to shoot her three times through the chest. Even though he has received grace, the
Misfit exemplifies humans capability to be overwhelmed by their emotions as he sprang back [from
the grandmother s touch] as if a snake

Should Condoms Be Distributed in High Schools
Teen s Health Causes Condom Distribution in Public High Schools The average age for the start of
puberty is eleven years old. During adolescence, teens undergo changes within their bodies. This is the
time where they begin to form their own identity. As a result, it leads to experimentation in a vast
number of ways. Dress, personality, and drugs are all types of experimentation that teens go through.
The most important is sexuality. Decisions being made by teens today are resulting in consequences
that are affecting their own health. The recent breakout of STD s (sexually transmitted diseases),
AIDS, and teen pregnancies in the past two decades have brought this issue to the attention of society.
There is a dispute of whether or not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, when it comes to sexually transmitted diseases and AIDS, victims of those diseases may not
be so lucky and in some cases, unfortunately result in deaths. Health of teenagers needs to be taken
seriously because they are the next generation. If no action is put in place to prevent such diseases,
spreading continuously throughout the world may occur. The consequences of not using condoms are
immense. According to a nursing school website, one in four college students has an STD. Society
needs to think long and hard about how their future will unfold if they do not act fast. Condoms
should be available in high schools because of the rise in teen pregnancy, STD s and Aids. The big
picture is teen s health and helping them in any way possible to benefit in the long run. Because the
previously mentioned studies have shown that having condoms available in schools increases the
percentage of students who use condoms as well as not change the percent of students who are
sexually active makes the decision to have condoms available in the nurses office simple. The nurse s
office is the desired place because it is already an established department dedicated to teen s health.
However, students may not just walk in and grab condoms at their convenience; there are certain
requirements that must be met before they are granted such privileges. Because kids come from all
different types of schools, it s not fair to have requirements

Apothecaries During The Renaissance Era
The Renaissance was a time of cultural prosperity in Europe that lasted from 1350 to 1600 AD.
During this time in history new ideas were being formed. Trade started to flourish and a new banking
economy started to form. New ideas for medicine and natural remedies also started to blossom. The
people who created these natural medicines were called apothecaries. Apothecaries were people who
prepared and sold medicines and drugs. They were like modern pharmacists. Apothecary shops were
first started in the Renaissance as places to receive different treatments. Apothecaries have been
around for centuries, but especially started to flourish during the Renaissance. The apothecaries during

medications and essential oils. The Renaissance jars would come in all shapes and sizes as well as
different colors. A small jar might have been used to hold crushed up herbs, whereas a larger jar may
have been used to hold water or a liquid of some sorts. Apothecaries would also use scales and
weights to measure ingredients. They would often measure their ingredients based on the weight of a
wheat grain, since it was the smallest weight that could be used. They would often measure certain

Stephen Covey Research Paper
Often we have walked throughout our lives not knowing what steps to approach success and how to
find those specific steps. We walk aimlessly and do not allow those who have more experience and
who are wiser than ourselves to give us the advice that we need to achieve the success level that we
desire for ourselves. Stephen Covey, who was born October 24, 1932 and died July 16, 2012, was a
man who not only believed, but also infiltrated what he believed in his own personal life and those
amongst him.. He knew that many people, even his own co workers and family didn t know the

Ernest Hemingway s The Big Two-Hearted River
Hemingway s 1925 short story, The Big Two Hearted River, originally from the collection of short
stories entitled In Our Time, engages in an introspective identity crisis, which arises after the book s
protagonist, Nick, returns from World War I. While Nick attempts to navigate his life outside of
combat, Hemingway takes him on a journey of reconciliation and self discovery. Embarking on his
journey into nature, Nick submerges himself in a life of what seems to be pure tranquility. In Nick s
eyes, society subjects people to violence, but nature is inherently good. Shortly after, Hemingway
provides Nick with tangible evidence opposing his original thoughts. Hemingway brings to light the
fact that both society and nature have subliminal binaries ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After experiencing moments of loss and violence, Nick chooses to return to the one place of constancy
he knows, which is nature. In nature, Nick believes that he can escape the brutality and hate that
humanity creates. Leaving behind the burned town of Seney and choosing to enter the natural world,
Nick [feels] he [has] left everything behind, the need for thinking, the need to write, other needs. It
was all back of him, (Hemingway 179). Hemingway subtly suggests that Nick has been plagued with
an endless list of realities that have consumed him for far too long. Nick s escape from reality provides
brief moments of solitude and rest from his bustling world. Amidst the burned and destroyed town of
Seney a river remains untouched, providing a symbol of hope. While Seney seems broken, the
possibility of new beginnings and life exists. This binary is parallel in Nick s life as well. Nick
actively chooses to pursue new beginnings instead of dwelling on the memories of his past, but is
quickly reminded that he cannot escape the parts of his life that play a large part in his identity.
Attempting to escape the pressing realities of life back home, Nick notices that the problems he
internalizes in his own life are apparent in nature as well. While fishing and rivers seems to be a place
of happiness and healing for Nick, reality finds a way to creep in. Looking at a trout in the river, Nick
s heart tightened as the trout moved. He felt all the old feeling, (Hemingway 178). Nick does not
reveal the old feeling or who/what is associated with that feeling. Instead, it can be recognized that a
tightened heart is a sign of tension and anxiety. Despite Nick s best efforts to escape his past seeking
comfort in the familiar, he finds that like his pack, he carries his past with him wherever he goes,
whether he desires to or

Signet Jewelers Case Study
Signet Jewelers Limited, modern day s largest producer, distributor, and retailer of diamond jewelry, is
an extensive company spread over several branches of stores. The current Chief Executive Officer of
this company is Virginia C. Drosos, who the company appointed into her new position on the first of
August, 2017, in the place of Mark Light, who shortly prior had stepped down. Despite the fact that
Signet Jewelers is a very prominent seller in America, boasting several thousand stores both within
and without malls across the country, its center is located in Hamilton, Bermuda, putting it in British
territory. From there operates one of the most successful jewelry companies in recent history.
Signet Jewelers claims its origins as a single jewelry store in Surrey, England, first opened in 1949 by
Leslie Ratner. From this small beginning point, the company slowly acquired a host of other
successful jewelry chains, making it increasingly powerful and prominent. At first, all these chains
were in England, but eventually, it branched out to America as well, the country would eventually
prove to be its most successful market, and likely saved the company when, in the early 1990s, the
company seemed to hit a dead end. After a few years of rough and dubious times, in which the
company nearly rid itself of its failing UK branch, Signet Jewelers at last resurfaced and returned to
power with a vengeance, even acquiring another jewelry chain after roughly a decade of stagnancy.

Poe And Edgar Allan Poe
Edgar Allan Poe was born on January 19, 1809 in Boston Massachusetts. Poe s parents were Elizabeth
Arnold Poe and David Poe, Jr., both being actors. Poe really never knew his parents since at a young
age his father had left and his mother passed away from tuberculosis when he was three. Needing a
new family and having to leave both of his siblings, Poe joined a new one with his new parents being
John and Frances Valentine Allan, which had a successful family life and fortune. At the age 13 Poe
was already an amazing poet but was discouraged by his father, saying that he should follow in the
family business. Poe then went to college and shined in all of classes but was soon in trouble when his
father wouldn t provide college funds with the correct amount so Poe was lead into gambling only
causing him more debt and a bigger issue when going home to his father and also facing women
troubles Poe moved back to Boston where around 1827 he had published his first book and joined the
military. Poe had only came home because of his mother who was also dying of tuberculosis and
while there Poe had made peace with his father and attended a Military Academy. Soon after joining
the Academy Poe was then kicked out and fought even more with his father causing his father to
disown him and never talk to him again. Poe had then moved and started to focus more on his writing
and since then he had published his third book. A couple years later his father had died leaving his

The Internal Revenue Service ( Irs )
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is part of the Department of the United States Treasury. It is one
of the most efficient tax administrators in the world. During fiscal year 2012, the IRS $2.5 trillion in
revenue and processed 237 million tax returns. For every $100 it collected in fiscal year 2012, the IRS
spent a mere 48 cents. The mission of the IRS is to provide U.S. taxpayers a top quality service by
helping them pay their taxes, enforce the laws regarding taxes, and assist taxpayers with
understanding their taxes. The IRS values integrity and fairness for all taxpayers. In the U.S.,
Congress passes tax laws and taxpayers are required to comply. The taxpayer s role is to understand
his/her tax obligations and meet them. The IRS role is to help taxpayers be compliant and pursue those
who do not pay their fair share.
The Internal Revenue Code, section 7801, organizes the IRS to carry out the responsibilities of the
secretary of the Treasury. The secretary is granted full authority to administer and enforce the tax laws
and has the power to create the agency (IRS) to enforce those laws. In 1862, President Lincoln and
Congress created an income tax to pay war expenses and the position of commissioner of Internal
Revenue was created. Ten years later, the income tax was repealed. Congress reenacted the tax in 1894
and the Supreme Court ruled it unconstitutional in 1895. It wasn t until 1913, when Wyoming ratified

Anne Moody s Autobiography Coming of Age in Mississippi Essay
I couldn t believe it, but it was the Klan blacklist, with my picture on it. I guess I must have sat there
for about an hour holding it, says Moody in her autobiography Coming of Age in Mississippi. In
Moody s response to the blacklist, one pervasive theme from her memoir becomes evident: though she
participated in many of the same activist movements as her peers, Moody is separated from them by
several things, chief among them being her ability to see the events of the 1960s through a wide,
uncolored perspective (pun intended). Whereas many involved on either side of the civil rights
movement became caught up in its objectives, Moody kept a level head and saw things as honestly as
she could, even if it meant thinking negatively of her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While playing, she looks over her white friend s privates, and, as is explained in the book, thinks I
examined each of them three times, but I didn t see any differences. I still hadn t found that secret.
Even as a child, Moody is bright enough to question the role of race in her society. In Part 2 Teenage
years Moody continues to push at the boundaries of society post childhood, which lead to her getting
involved in activist causes as a teen. After the wife of a Klan member mentions the NAACP, Moody
asks her mother to tell her more about the organization. Her mother responds with scorn to the
situation, refusing to tell her daughter about the NAACP and also telling her never to ask any white
person about it either. Nonetheless, Moody asks another adult about the organization and eventually
gets a full five hours of history on the movement. Moody s newfound knowledge of the NAACP made
her more aware of the time in which she was living; in a sense, gaining a broader world view. She
more or less says as much in her memoir when she writes I couldn t go on pretending I was dumb and
innocent, pretending I didn t know what was going on. At the time, these views set her apart from not
only her classmates, but her family as well. In Part 3 College Prior to her attendance at her first
NAACP convention Moody received a condemning letter from her mother, telling her that she is
foolish for getting involved with the

Theme Of Identity In The Young Elites
Every human being has their own identity and defines the uniqueness of an individual. Personality,
physical appearance, and how an individual acts define identity, or in other words, define who a
person is. The world has come with many different meanings and interpretations of the definition of
identity. Identity, for some is what they are still searching in their lives, and others already found who
they are. There are many factors that impacts greatly on an individual. These factors are found in the
characters that are in the book of The Young Elites and The Outsiders. Both Lu and Hinton show how
their true identities are heavily impacted by experience, divided communities and betrayal.

them. When she betrayed the Socs, people stopped viewing her positively and started doing the exact

Whilst betraying the Socs, Cherri had to go out of her comfort zone, allowing her to realize that she is
capable of doing things she never imagined she could do. She learned to be brave, and in a way, she
learned to be more considerate. She reached out to both groups for the greater good. She even helped
Johnny when he was accused of murdering Bob on purpose (Clark, 10). By doing this, Cherri does
betray her own group, but she does so because she cares about both the Socs and the Greasers. Instead
of being like the others who are bent on getting revenge, Cherri realized that she could use betrayal as
a way of uniting the two different groups. With this being said, Cherri betrays the Socs not for herself,
but for others so that they would stop getting hurt, and by doing this, Hinton proves that betrayal can

How Did Kasushika Hokusai Influence Japanese Culture
Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai helped expose the Western world to Japanese customs and beliefs.
His crucial impact on culture and art can be attributed to his notable and familiar depictions of Japan s
geography, architecture, and people that surrounded him. Hokusai s unique blend of traditional
Japanese methods and Western mediums made his work a source of inspiration for many European
artists during the Impressionism era such as Van Gogh, Monet, and Degas. Katsushika Hokusai, best
known for his print of a large wave gracefully swallowing a fishing boat called The Great Wave Off

However, throughout the 19th century, the influence of artists like Hokusai, Utamaro, and Hiroshige
helped transform the former taboo into an appreciation for this cornerstone of Japanese culture. While
ukiyo e was a strength of Hokusai s, it wasn t the only style of art he was trained in. While studying
under Shunsho, he also attended lessons from Yusen, an artist from the Kano school who taught him
about Western style art and the use of perspective. These experiences shaped Hokusai into an
exceptional artist and woodworker, but probably would not have been possible if he had been born in
another country, showing the significant impact relative location can have. Relative location, defined
as a point or place in relation to another point or place , played a significant role in Hokusai s career
throughout his life. For example, because of the large distance between where Japan is located relative
to where Europe is located, it was hard for Hokusai to share his artistic ideas outside of his home
country. In addition to the issue of physical distance, during the early 1800 s Japan was under a
foreign policy called sakoku, which allowed no foreigner or Japanese person to enter or leave the
country on penalty of death. This

Inca Civil War Research Paper
Ariel Durant wrote, A great civilization is not conquered from without until it has destroyed itself from
within. The Inca Civil War was the beginning of the downfall of the largest civilization in the
Americas. The Inca Civil War lasted from 1529 until April 1532 in Peru and Ecuador. The
administrative, political, and military center of the empire was located in Cuzco (modern day Peru).
The Inca civilization arose from the highlands of Peru sometime in the early 13th century. The Incas
had no written language. Most of what is known about the Incas come from artifacts and the
Spaniards. The Inca Civil War was a war between two brothers, Huascar and Atahualpa, that took
place after their father Huayna Capac. Huascar and Atahualpa both doomed suitable for the succession
of the Inca Empire so, the war began. The Inca Civil War was a conflict that divided a civilization,
resulted in significant changes that made the empire more vulnerable and caused the downfall of the
Inca civilization.
II. Origin, Lifestyle, and Religion

The Inca Empire was short lived. It lasted just shy of 100 years due to the collapse of the empire in
1532. There are many legends and myths about how the Incas came to be. According to one legend,

Speech About Blizzard
BOOOOOOOP! Hi, welcome to Dairy Queen, how can I help you?, I said. Yes, can I please get a
medium peanut butter cookie dough smash blizzard made with chocolate ice cream please, that s all,
comes the customer overly enthusiastic response. Okay, that will be $4.25, Thank you and please pull
around. I reply ever so kindly. That s how the nightmare of making the worst blizzard known to man
begins. To start making this monstrosity of a blizzard, you need your medium blizzard cup,
approximately sixteen ounces. Now, since it s chocolate soft serve we need, you must walk all the way
from the drive thru to the front line, where we have the only machine that dispenses our chocolate soft

After your cup is half full, form one ball half in half out of the cup and finish off with the signature

fill your blizzard cup, but considering you re using chocolate soft serve, you ll just end up with a large
blob of mush, topped with a cringe worthy spike in place of the curl. At this moment in time, you must
equip your cup with a collar in order to add the required ingredients. What you will need to add is one
pump of peanut butter sauce, three black spoons of chocolate chunks, three clear spoons of cookie
dough, and to top it off three white spoons of peanut butter cookie pieces. Now that you ve finished
applying the ingredients, you should have everything on the verge of spilling over the collar, because
there is physically just too much packed into this single blizzard. Like

Learning And Teaching Of The Pedagogy Within The...
The Foundation Phase provides a diverse approach to learning for children which attend a setting
funded by the Local Education Authority and are aged between three and seven years old. The
learning and teaching of the pedagogy within the Foundation Phase focuses on the practitioner being
willing to continuously progress with personal learning and develop the ability to reflect on personal
experiences. (DCELLS. 2008). This is strengthened by the quote that a practitioner should be both self
aware, willing and able to reflect and analyse from a range of perspectives (Pound,L. 2011). The
Foundation Phase s progressive framework also allows for children to develop at an individual pace
within the same class and consists of seven areas of learning. The areas of learning include personal
and social development, well being and cultural diversity, language, literacy and communication skills
and mathematical development. The framework also includes Welsh language development,
knowledge and understanding of the world and physical development. Finally the Foundation Phase
includes creative development. The Foundation Phase has not always been implemented in the way it
is today. (Welsh Assembly Government. 2014.)
The Framework for Children s Learning for 3 7 year olds in Wales (The Framework) states that every
child should experience equal opportunities and have access to a curriculum that is flexible to each
child s needs. This is seen throughout the Foundation Phase within the

Bruno Bettelheim s The Uses Of Enchantment
Bruno Bettelheim s The Uses of Enchantment claims that fairy tales help expand the development of
children. Although more adult topics like death are never specifically talked about, they tend to deal
with other kinds of everyday problems. Children read stories like where the hero overcomes a series of
obstacles in order to achieve their happily ever after, and then find a way to connect to that. These
kinds of fairy tales help teach children understand difference between right and wrong. Fairy tales are
in a way a child s first teacher, they essentially mold the mind and help convey ideas that would
otherwise be difficult to understand at such a young age.
The loss of a parent of a story s protagonist is a common characteristic in fairy tales. Usually the story
will start out with either the father or mother passing away, although the author never mentions the
word death it is always either implied or not much detail is given. These kinds of tragic backstories
leave you feeling sympathy towards the character, which then lead the reader to root for them at all
costs. Bettelheim states that situations like this occur in order to give children, suggestions in symbolic
form about he may deal with these issues (278). Fairy tales give children a sense of peace when it
comes to coping with loss. Kids can read these stories and say something along the lines of, Hey this
character is going through something I went through, I can relate to them . Stories like Cinderella

Implicit Stereotypes Essay
Inferring from prior research, it is widely concluded that implicit stereotypes are well learned
associations believed to be stable, activated prior to conscious processing thus relatively
uncontrollable and unchangeable, and eventually exercising a significant influence over cognition and
behavior. People can only engage in nonprejudicial behavior when they are motivated and are able to
suppress their stereotypic beliefs in situations where they are activated. As such, Blair et al. (2001)
proceeded in a direction that questioned these longstanding assumptions: Implicit stereotypes are not
only amenable to change, but they are also equally influenced by explicit cognitions (in this study,

Thus, the manifestations of the effects of mental imagery may be moderated by the experimental

Why The Concern Over Mobile Technology
Statement of the Problem
Why the concern over mobile technology in our schools for K 12 education? Mobile technology has
expanded tremendously over the past few years. The use of having mobile devices in the classroom
allows students instant access to the latest news, information, statistics, etc. Mobile technology opens
a multitude of learning that was only accessible through encyclopedias before, but has expanded and
has endless possibilities. Many schools have a school wide wireless implementation of mobile devices
and others have limited access to wireless devices. The opportunity of instructional designers is
endless in developing more integration of technology in lesson plans to make the connections between
the old ways and with the integration of technology into the classrooms. The following literature
reviews will explore the growing trend of mobile technology in the K 12 education.
Review of the Literature
How are teachers and students using mobile technology and are they using their own devices or is the
schools providing mobile devices for teachers and students to use. Grant, Tamim, Brown, Sweeney,
Ferguson, and Jones, (2015) reviewed the early uses of mobile computing devices (MCD) in K 12
classrooms. The research questions for their study were looking at the ways K 12 teachers were using
MCDs, the supports that teachers received when using MCDs, and the barriers that existed for
teachers when using MCDs. Nine teachers were interviewed about the use of MCDs in

How Did Marcel Duchamp s Use Of Imagery In Pop Art
Pop Art c. 1952 1970
Pop art began to emerge in the early 1950s as a result of a booming, capitalist American economy that
followed the Second World War. A sense of optimism arose nationwide with new job security, healthy
incomes and an absence of military obligations. Post war marriage and baby booms yielded the largest
generation in the nations history . The American dream was born and idealized in the media through
advertising. Research undertaken by sociologists into consumer habits and behavior became a
marketing strategy and corporations adapted their production by tapping into what was fashionable
and desirable among the masses.
The exponentially growing population gave way to a social group that had never before been
established in its own right, teenagers. Now that families could afford to give their children a
wholesome education, this age group no longer had to spend their days contributing to the family
income at work, which left more time and freedom for leisure activities. As adolescents began to
follow popular music and culture, the concept of popular culture exploded in America. This in turn is
from where the movement of Pop art was derived. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Marcel Duchamp s concept of the objet trouvé or ready made as subject matter and material for his

assemblages, theatre and performances in its art. It was this idea of reality dubbed as art that later

Names In The Bible
Since day one, names have been important and special. It is the first gift we receive from our parents
the day we are born, and it is how we identify ourselves from that day forward. The first thing that is
said when introducing oneself is your name. There s something about calling someone by name that
indicates meaning and intentionality. Names are important to our parents, our friends, and everyone
around us, but most importantly, they are special and significant to God. In the Bible, there is a pattern
of God giving people new names when they realize their calling. For example, Abram was changed to
Abraham and Saul was changed to Paul after his conversion on the road to Damascus. In Isaiah 43:1 it
says, Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. The God of
the universe knows and calls us by name. You can t get more loving and personal than that. In an
article about the importance of God knowing each of our names, Beth Ariel states, He knows each of
us personally and intimately, calling us by name. It is almost too much for our finite minds to grasp
that the God who created the heavens and the earth knows each of us by name (Ariel 1). In the Bible,

Small et al. (1997) provide a summary of theoretical on the review of congestion measures
demonstrated at the outset of this project that a number of different approaches are used to quantify
the level of congestion for an urban area. Although there are a number of different congestion
measures, travel time measures offer the best means for estimating the economic impacts of the
congestion. There are several reasons for this:
1. Travel time corresponds directly to the traveler s experience of congestion, when measured from a
given origin to destination;
2. As indicated below, efforts to estimate the direct user costs of congestion are based on placing a
value on travel time, often as a percentage of the wage rate; and

Apart from public transportation, which consists of taxis and municipal buses, the number of private

congestion gets worse as most of these vehicles use the three main routes into town.

Methylcyclohexane Synthesis Essay
Discussion: While hydrogen is not normally observed as a functional group, however, one exception
involves free radical substitution through halogenation. This mechanism essentially function by first
initiation step in which the halogenated molecule splits into two halogenated radicals which is
followed by the formation of a hydrocarbon radical. The next step of the radical mechanism,
propagation, involves the hydrocarbon molecule reaction with a halogenated molecule, thus producing
a hydrocarbon halogen (R X) compound, and more halogenation molecule thus allowing the reaction
to continue on to completion. A control mechanism will allow for the prediction of what product will
be obtained from a radical reaction. If random chance of the halogen ... Show more content on

This is once again due the reasoning stated earlier, as in terms of hydrogen reactivity: benzene
aromatic ~ aliphatic tertiary secondary primary. This is based on the reasoning in Hammond s
Postulates that the more stable radical will have a smaller rate determining step and the transition state
will resemble the products more so, thus indicating why it can be considered more stable. The actual
order observed was methylcyclohexane ethylbenzene toluene tert butylbenzene ~ cyclohexane. This
was not the predicted order as methylcyclohexane should have reacted third fastest instead of reacting
first as observed, however, excluding the error of methylcyclohexane the rest of the prediction seem to
line up with the observed results. Since methylcyclohexane was the only contributor to the
misalignment with the predicted and observed indicates that some sort of error occurred in the process
of carrying out the reaction. The source of error is most likely due to the possibility that
methylcyclohexane had the bromine added to it a few seconds prior to being set down and timed for a
reaction. The reasoning behind this is because methylcyclohexane should react fast, however, should
still be slower than ethylbenzne and toluene. Another source of error that was likely a major
contributor was the amount of each compound present in the test tube. If too much of the arene was
added to the test tube a the reaction time will likely be noticeably slower as there will b more product
to brominate. Therefore, it is possible that the methylcyclohexane test tube (#13) had too little of
methylcyclohexane in it. The toluene reaction time at 15 seconds also indicates that this test tube
possibly had too much toluene placed in it, thus leading to a slower observed reaction time. Therefore,
it is unlikely that the initial prediction was wrong due to the reactivity of the

W. H. Auden Research Paper
W. B. Yeats, W. H. Auden, and Seamus Heaney all experienced senseless violence throughout their
life. They all lived in the twentieth century, a time of greater violence than had ever been seen before,
and their poetry, as well as views on the role of the poet in society illustrate the impact that violence
had upon them. In response to this abundant stimuli, they wrote a great deal of poetry that seeks to
comprehend the incomprehensible acts they observed. They each struggled with disillusionment, most
especially Auden, whose views of poetry changed most radically. Ultimately, they all agree upon the
senselessness of violence and war, but the difference is in the impact they allow it to have upon them.

Heaney s view of poetry differs from that of Yeats and Auden, but still has noticeably similar
characteristics. Poetry is, for Heaney, and archeological process, that delves into the past of humanity
as well as his own past. In relation to violence, Heaney sees poetry as having an obligation to honor
the dead without glorifying or detrimenting them. The Grauballe Man is the perfect example of a
poem that explores the past, but also deals with the struggles of the present. The poem is focused upon
a dead body that was preserved in a Danish bog. Heaney uses his detailed description of the dead man
to honor him. He moves from the ball of his heel like a basalt egg to his slashed throat. (Heaney
2954). He sees beauty in this preserved form, and refuses to call is a corpse or body. There is
something beautiful to be found in an honest and reverent honoring of the dead. Heaney at first only
thought of the man in the form of a picture, but having spent time with this eternal image of violence
and death, he lies perfected in [his] memory, helping him to cope with the tragic violence of his life as
a Catholic in Ireland s Protestant north (Heaney 2955). Heaney uses poetry to process his reaction, but
in a different way. Instead of verbalizing his conflicts directly, he simply looks upon the world with
honesty and describes it in truth and clarity. In doing so,

Beowulf Leadership Analysis
In the fantasy world found within the story of Beowulf; Hrothgar, the wise king of the Danes, offers
Beowulf some important lessons of leadership. Hrothgar, recognizing Beowulf s nobility and strength,
talks to him about how he should act to be a good ruler when he becomes king. The characteristics of
good leadership that Hrothgar mentions still hold true today, through people like politicians, and
business executives. Hrothgar s sermon not only provides an insight into what leaders like these
should do, it aims to bring to light what leaders should not do.
To Hrothgar, a true leader should not be wicked to their people; rather, they should show kindness and
be loved by their people. While talking about a previous ruler of the Danes, Hrothgar tells Beowulf
that his rise in the world brought little joy to the Danish people, only death and destruction
(McArthur). In order to keep the people happy, it is important to be open to them and generous.
Beowulf does this when he becomes king of the Geats by becoming a ring giver to his people
(Loughman). For example, after slaying the monster Grendel, Hrothgar rewards Beowulf, with a
victory gift, an embroidered banner; also breast mail; and a sword carried high (Post). In today s
society, rewarding swords and armor to every staff member at a company is a bit outlandish,
nevertheless; business executives can take away from this by rewarding the work that the people of
their company put in, rather than ignoring the needs and lives

Reflection Paper On Terrorism
Reflection Paper on Terrorism
It is ironic that the U.S. and Saudi Arabia continue to sign historic agreements meant to confront
current and emerging threats coming from terrorist financing the latter is one of the biggest state
sponsors of terrorism. The creative responses that they create continue to formalize cooperation
between them to counter terrorist financing. However, this is a lose lose partnership since donors in
Saudi Arabia continue to fund Sunni terrorist groups across the world. The U.S. has to understand that
the state s passivity toward terrorist groups is critical to their success as any form of deliberate
assistance they access. The U.S. cannot proclaim to be the world leader in fighting terrorism yet the
government continues to be the ultimate state sponsor of those who fund terrorism (Casaca Wolf,
2017). According to Chossudovsky (2013), groups such as the House of Saud have been supported by
the U.S. government in the past in full knowledge that the Saudi monarchy funds Al Qaeda. The U.S.
government should be viewed as a State sponsor of Terrorism given its reluctance to evaluate its
relationship with Saudi Arabia.
Earlier in 2017, President Trump gave an executive order to ban entry from a number of Middle
Eastern nations in order to protect the Americans from terrorism by foreign nationals who come to the
U.S. But one of the most outstanding aspects of the list is that Saudi Arabia was conspicuously

GAAP uses to models for consolidation which are variable interest entities (VIE) and voting interest
entities. A concept does not exist for a firm with less than a majority of voting rights. According to
Ernst and Young (2011), another aspect of consolidation is the principle agent evaluation in control
assessment. This states that in VIEs, consolidation is based on economic considerations, while with
voting interest entities there is no explicit concept. Another aspect is consideration of kick out rights
and participating rights in control assessment. In this concept VIEs are substantive if unilaterally
exercisable by a single party (Ernst Young, 2011). Voting interest entities are exercisable by a majority
of parties. Consideration of related parties in control assessment states that VIEs have an aggregated
interest of related parties and de facto agents in some cases, while no consideration exists in voting
interest entities. In Investment Company accounting, the investment company records all of its
investments in entities at fair value. Where there is a decrease in ownership provisions, guidance
applies to non profit activities and businesses (with or without loss of control). Scope excludes

updates released for the AS/400 operating system that CDM uses but they are still using the original

the consistency of functions within the database. For example, if you are in the order entry screen, the
F1 function key is the command for field exit, the F4 key is for deleting and F5 updates the screen. In
the order shipment screen, F1 is the command for delete, F4 is update, and F5 is field exit. This makes
it very difficult to use and very easy to make mistakes. Over the years, other mailing list databases

Compare And Contrast Augustus And Octavian
The reason why we chose Augustus/Octavian for our hero and is A hero is because he made rome
strong again after they were all soft and broken down. He first started when he was 17 and he ruled for

So Augustus had to prove to them he is not like his uncle. Augustus won every war he was in for them

Murder Of The Rue Morgue
In the short story, Murder of the Rue Morgue, the differences between chess and checkers relate to the
French policemen and Monsieur C. Auguste Dupin. Poe introduces the story, by stating that the game
of checkers is more difficult than chess. He states that chess players have the kind of mind that can
find answers only if that person had all of the clues they needed right in front of them. While chess is
a tough game, it s still a test of someone s ability to think based on available evidence, which the
narrator calls an analytical mind. On the other hand, the whist players use a different kind of skill,
such as looking ahead and making decisions about how to play based on what they can see.In other
words, a chess player can work out what

Advancements Of The Early Modern Period Medicine
It is difficult to decide whether the developments, inventions and discoveries of the Early Modern
Period contributed to European power or whether it contributed to European progress. The reason this
is, is because in the case of Europe, especially in this time period, power and progress seemed to go
hand in hand. In the case of discovery the countries that had the most power led the way in
discovering new land, it was this curiosity in expanding power that led to the progress of new worlds
and opportunities. The invention of the printing press contributed to providing knowledge and
therefore an aspect of power to people who did not have it beforehand and it was the progress of
medicines and sciences that ensured not only the power and superiority of European knowledge but
also the ability to progress to the next level of knowledge.
From the beginnings of the Early Modern Period medicine was essentially summed up in high
mortality rates and the notion that men and women were two completely different people
anatomically, treatments were largely herbal and the type of doctor you went to see depended on what
was wrong with you and if you could afford them . Attaining and preserving a state of health,
therefore, required balance, and that equilibrium was inherently elusive and easily forfeited .
However, while there was some progress in this field throughout the period it was not as drastic as one
would expect, the Galenic body of the four humours was still a dominant

A Comparison Of IQ Tests And The Stanford Binet Test
By definition, intelligence is the ability to acquire and apply knowledge and skills. It is determined by
the ways we are able to solve problems, our mathematical skills, interpersonal and intrapersonal
knowledge, and naturalist intelligence. We are able to test our personal intelligent through many
different quizzes called IQ tests. One of the most popular ones being the Stanford Binet tests, which is
used as a good resource to test the intelligence of students. However, it is questionable whether or not
IQ tests are very accurate. The two IQ tests that I took for this paper was a Stanford Binet Test, and a
test from a website called Memorado. Each test took me approximately 10 15 minutes to complete in
its entirety. Comparing the two tests, I saw a lot more similarities than I did differences. The Binet test
was a set of 30 questions which assessed verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, as well as abstract
reasoning. The areas were depicted in questions such as mathematical problems, word problems, and
even problems that had a set of letters that I was instructed to make out an English word from them.
The Memorado test was very similar, however it tested more questions about relationships between
objects, and mathematical problems regarding what number came after the last in a tricky sequence.
Regardless of the few differences in question structure, both tests seemed to be looking at the areas of
mathematics, problem solving skills, and our ability to see

Essay On Houston Environmental Issues
The City of Houston is a beautiful city that is known for its bayous, multiculturalism and its
importance to the US space program. It has also been known for its poor air quality with the city
ranking in the top 10 worst cities for air population in the United States, which is primarily due to the
most important industries to Houston economy the Houston Ship Channel and the oil and gas
industries.
Over the past couple of years a new environmental issue has taken place illegal dumping, which is
astoundingly different than the environmental issues that the City of Houston has been commonly
known for, although it has devastating effect. In, fact what is rather unusual for this issue unlike the
issues of air pollution the oil and gas industry has little to no involvement with creating the issue.
While the city of Houston and Galveston had created guidelines for handling illegal dumping in 1999
the need to address this issue returned in early 2015. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was never considered one of the best neighborhoods but her area never experienced the levels of
trash and illegal dumping that I had experienced on that particular visit. Later that year these dumping
sites became a huge burden for the city and tax payers due to cleanup cost Many local governments
realize huge costs involved in continuously cleaning these sites up and are beginning to invest in
prevention programs . (Pasternak, 2001)
To find out more about the illegal dumping that has occurred around the city I conducted interviews at
Lone Star Disposal Center and Ralston Road Landfill, I was able to gather some information from
both sources about a few of the hazards that can occur because of these spots, where I can find
additional info and where a few of the hot spots are that illegal dumpers usually dump their

Analysis Of The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective Teens
I am writing to you to show the appreciation I have for you self help book, The 7 Habits of Highly
Effective Teens. I want you, the author, to see the effect your book has amongst the teen population
and how the techniques you used, including your writing styles, throughout the book, helped create a
personal relationship to the text. I also want to give you a realistic point of view of your story and
highlight some aspects that could use some improvement for better understanding. Overall, I
thoroughly enjoyed your book, therefore giving reason for me to write this letter to you. I myself am a
teen and reading your book changed my overall perspective on life. Your book is correctly notated to
today s teenage population as the text is certainly not boring. Your inclusion of numerous pictures,
graphs, activities, and diagrams on each page kept me engaged throughout. Each chapter in your story
delves in on each of the 7 habits. The technique to clearly outline and spread out each habit allows for
a sense of clarity for the reader. To spend 5 10 pages on each habit helps to ensure the understanding
for the reader. Before you went into detail on each habit, I found it really helpful how you mentioned
the 7 habits teens normally follow. By showing us, the readers, the negative habits teens follow on a
daily basis and its positive counterpart also allows for better interpretation. This method allowed for
me to compare and contrast the two and realize the habits I m taking part in.

Evaluation On Tablets Vs. Laptops
When looking at technology people look for certain criteria when it comes to evaluating the specific
electronic device they want. Tablets in my opinion are way better than laptops only because they are
less bulky; they are thin which makes tablets more versatile, their battery life lasts longer than a
laptop, and ipad tablets have special programs a laptop doesn t obtain. Tablets have advanced over the
years. Look at Apple for instance, they came out with the iPad mini and now they came out with an
iPad with a retina display that means that the screen has sufficient pixel density, which means that the
screen is brighter and clearer. Laptops may have a bigger screen but I don t see laptops advancing like
tablets do these days. It is quite an experience if you own an ipad tablet, once you own one you will
never want to go back to a laptop. Ipads has a built in Wi Fi and cellular connectivity so people can
stay in touch easier than they would with a laptop. Laptops have Wi Fi but not cellular connectivity.
They could use cellular connectivity through skype, but you have to pay to use it. Another cool thing
this device has is a multi touch screen so you can quickly exit and enter into a new application and it
has a virtual keyboard for typing up papers, taking notes, and researching information. One might
argue, if they aren t into the high tech electronics, laptops are more suitable in their scenario because a
laptop is simpler. Many, that I ve talked to prefer an ipad

The only drawback of this web site appears to be the sheer volume of links and information which

Media can be a useful tool for society, allowing everyone to keep in touch with what is happening around them and working almost as an educator for everyday people. Essay On A Good Man Is Hard To Find A Leopard Can Change Its Spots: The Misfit s Moral Awakening in O Connor s A Good Man Is Hard to Find Throughout her short story A Good Man Is Hard to Find, Flannery O Connor exposes the blatant racism and disjointed practice of religion within her mid twentieth century society. To display these themes, she presents the grandmother and the Misfit, two exceedingly flawed and immoral characters. However, being a Catholic writer, O Connor utilizes the Misfit to demonstrate grace s ability to convert troubled and hateful people through the metamorphosis of their moral conscious. Despite his initial lack of faith, the Misfit s morality and attitude towards religion are transformed by the grandmother s graceful epiphany. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, the grandmother s desire to check on the state of the plantation represents her desire to reminisce fondly about the times when slavery reigned. In the end, her perception alters, and she is saved from this hatred. When the Misfit is about to kill her, she prays to Jesus, who answers her prayers by bestowing grace upon her. Such grace transforms the grandmother s perception of reality as she now says to the Misfit, Why you re one of my babies. You re one of my own children. By declaring that the Misfit is one of her own, the grandmother realizes the interconnectedness (and, therefore, the inherent dignity) of all humans. Watching this drastic transformation, the Misfit observes the power of Christ with his own eyes. Along with visually witnessing divine revelation, the Misfit also feels its impact. Before the Misfit shoots her, the grandmother reached out and touched him on the shoulder. Within the Catholic faith, touching another s shoulder traditionally equates to the transfer of grace between two people. Therefore, the grandma s touching the Misfit s shoulder signifies the transfer of grace from her to him. Having never felt it before, this grace frightens the Misfit, causing him to shoot her three times through the chest. Even though he has received grace, the Misfit exemplifies humans capability to be overwhelmed by their emotions as he sprang back [from the grandmother s touch] as if a snake ... During adolescence, teens undergo changes within their bodies. This is the time where they begin to form their own identity. As a result, it leads to experimentation in a vast number of ways. Dress, personality, and drugs are all types of experimentation that teens go through. The most important is sexuality. Decisions being made by teens today are resulting in consequences that are affecting their own health. However, when it comes to sexually transmitted diseases and AIDS, victims of those diseases may not be so lucky and in some cases, unfortunately result in deaths. Health of teenagers needs to be taken seriously because they are the next generation. If no action is put in place to prevent such diseases, spreading continuously throughout the world may occur. The consequences of not using condoms are immense. According to a nursing school website, one in four college students has an STD. Society needs to think long and hard about how their future will unfold if they do not act fast. Condoms should be available in high schools because of the rise in teen pregnancy, STD s and Aids. The big picture is teen s health and helping them in any way possible to benefit in the long run. Because the previously mentioned studies have shown that having condoms available in schools increases the percentage of students who use condoms as well as not change the percent of students who are sexually active makes the decision to have condoms available in the nurses office simple. The nurse s office is the desired place because it is already an established department dedicated to teen s health. However, students may not just walk in and grab condoms at their convenience; there are certain requirements that must be met before they are granted such privileges. Because kids come from all different types of schools, it s not fair to have requirements ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ernest Hemingway s The Big Two-Hearted River Hemingway s 1925 short story, The Big Two Hearted River, originally from the collection of short stories entitled In Our Time, engages in an introspective identity crisis, which arises after the book s protagonist, Nick, returns from World War I. While Nick attempts to navigate his life outside of combat, Hemingway takes him on a journey of reconciliation and self discovery. Embarking on his journey into nature, Nick submerges himself in a life of what seems to be pure tranquility. In Nick s eyes, society subjects people to violence, but nature is inherently good. Shortly after, Hemingway provides Nick with tangible evidence opposing his original thoughts. Hemingway brings to light the fact that both society and nature have subliminal binaries ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After experiencing moments of loss and violence, Nick chooses to return to the one place of constancy he knows, which is nature. In nature, Nick believes that he can escape the brutality and hate that humanity creates. Leaving behind the burned town of Seney and choosing to enter the natural world, Nick [feels] he [has] left everything behind, the need for thinking, the need to write, other needs. It was all back of him, (Hemingway 179). Hemingway subtly suggests that Nick has been plagued with an endless list of realities that have consumed him for far too long. Nick s escape from reality provides brief moments of solitude and rest from his bustling world. Amidst the burned and destroyed town of Seney a river remains untouched, providing a symbol of hope. While Seney seems broken, the possibility of new beginnings and life exists. This binary is parallel in Nick s life as well. Nick actively chooses to pursue new beginnings instead of dwelling on the memories of his past, but is quickly reminded that he cannot escape the parts of his life that play a large part in his identity. Attempting to escape the pressing realities of life back home, Nick notices that the problems he internalizes in his own life are apparent in nature as well. While fishing and rivers seems to be a place of happiness and healing for Nick, reality finds a way to creep in. Looking at a trout in the river, Nick s heart tightened as the trout moved. He felt all the old feeling, (Hemingway 178). Nick does not reveal the old feeling or who/what is associated with that feeling. Instead, it can be recognized that a tightened heart is a sign of tension and anxiety. The current Chief Executive Officer of this company is Virginia C. Drosos, who the company appointed into her new position on the first of August, 2017, in the place of Mark Light, who shortly prior had stepped down. Despite the fact that Signet Jewelers is a very prominent seller in America, boasting several thousand stores both within and without malls across the country, its center is located in Hamilton, Bermuda, putting it in British territory. From there operates one of the most successful jewelry companies in recent history. Signet Jewelers claims its origins as a single jewelry store in Surrey, England, first opened in 1949 by Leslie Ratner. From this small beginning point, the company slowly acquired a host of other successful jewelry chains, making it increasingly powerful and prominent. At first, all these chains were in England, but eventually, it branched out to America as well, the country would eventually prove to be its most successful market, and likely saved the company when, in the early 1990s, the company seemed to hit a dead end. It is one of the most efficient tax administrators in the world. During fiscal year 2012, the IRS $2.5 trillion in revenue and processed 237 million tax returns. For every $100 it collected in fiscal year 2012, the IRS spent a mere 48 cents. The mission of the IRS is to provide U.S. taxpayers a top quality service by helping them pay their taxes, enforce the laws regarding taxes, and assist taxpayers with understanding their taxes. The IRS values integrity and fairness for all taxpayers. In the U.S., Congress passes tax laws and taxpayers are required to comply. The taxpayer s role is to understand his/her tax obligations and meet them. The IRS role is to help taxpayers be compliant and pursue those who do not pay their fair share. The Internal Revenue Code, section 7801, organizes the IRS to carry out the responsibilities of the secretary of the Treasury. The secretary is granted full authority to administer and enforce the tax laws and has the power to create the agency (IRS) to enforce those laws. In 1862, President Lincoln and Congress created an income tax to pay war expenses and the position of commissioner of Internal Revenue was created. Ten years later, the income tax was repealed. I guess I must have sat there for about an hour holding it, says Moody in her autobiography Coming of Age in Mississippi. In Moody s response to the blacklist, one pervasive theme from her memoir becomes evident: though she participated in many of the same activist movements as her peers, Moody is separated from them by several things, chief among them being her ability to see the events of the 1960s through a wide, uncolored perspective (pun intended). Whereas many involved on either side of the civil rights movement became caught up in its objectives, Moody kept a level head and saw things as honestly as she could, even if it meant thinking negatively of her ... In Part 2 Teenage years Moody continues to push at the boundaries of society post childhood, which lead to her getting involved in activist causes as a teen. Relative location, defined as a point or place in relation to another point or place , played a significant role in Hokusai s career throughout his life. The Inca Civil War was the beginning of the downfall of the largest civilization in the Americas. The Inca Civil War lasted from 1529 until April 1532 in Peru and Ecuador. The Foundation Phase provides a diverse approach to learning for children which attend a setting funded by the Local Education Authority and are aged between three and seven years old. The learning and teaching of the pedagogy within the Foundation Phase focuses on the practitioner being willing to continuously progress with personal learning and develop the ability to reflect on personal experiences. (DCELLS. 2008). This is strengthened by the quote that a practitioner should be both self aware, willing and able to reflect and analyse from a range of perspectives (Pound,L. 2011). The Foundation Phase s progressive framework also allows for children to develop at an individual pace within the same class and consists of seven areas of learning. The areas of learning include personal and social development, well being and cultural diversity, language, literacy and communication skills and mathematical development. The framework also includes Welsh language development, knowledge and understanding of the world and physical development. Finally the Foundation Phase includes creative development. The Foundation Phase has not always been implemented in the way it is today. (Welsh Assembly Government. 2014.) • 23. Bruno Bettelheim s The Uses Of Enchantment Bruno Bettelheim s The Uses of Enchantment claims that fairy tales help expand the development of children. Although more adult topics like death are never specifically talked about, they tend to deal with other kinds of everyday problems. Children read stories like where the hero overcomes a series of obstacles in order to achieve their happily ever after, and then find a way to connect to that. These kinds of fairy tales help teach children understand difference between right and wrong. Fairy tales are in a way a child s first teacher, they essentially mold the mind and help convey ideas that would otherwise be difficult to understand at such a young age. The loss of a parent of a story s protagonist is a common characteristic in fairy tales. Usually the story will start out with either the father or mother passing away, although the author never mentions the word death it is always either implied or not much detail is given. These kinds of tragic backstories leave you feeling sympathy towards the character, which then lead the reader to root for them at all costs. Bettelheim states that situations like this occur in order to give children, suggestions in symbolic form about he may deal with these issues (278). Fairy tales give children a sense of peace when it comes to coping with loss. Kids can read these stories and say something along the lines of, Hey this character is going through something I went through, I can relate to them . Stories like Cinderella make ... Implicit Stereotypes Essay Inferring from prior research, it is widely concluded that implicit stereotypes are well learned associations believed to be stable, activated prior to conscious processing thus relatively uncontrollable and unchangeable, and eventually exercising a significant influence over cognition and behavior. People can only engage in nonprejudicial behavior when they are motivated and are able to suppress their stereotypic beliefs in situations where they are activated. As such, Blair et al. Mobile technology has expanded tremendously over the past few years. The use of having mobile devices in the classroom allows students instant access to the latest news, information, statistics, etc. Mobile technology opens a multitude of learning that was only accessible through encyclopedias before, but has expanded and has endless possibilities. Many schools have a school wide wireless implementation of mobile devices and others have limited access to wireless devices. The opportunity of instructional designers is endless in developing more integration of technology in lesson plans to make the connections between the old ways and with the integration of technology into the classrooms. The following literature reviews will explore the growing trend of mobile technology in the K 12 education. Review of the Literature How are teachers and students using mobile technology and are they using their own devices or is the schools providing mobile devices for teachers and students to use. How Did Marcel Duchamp s Use Of Imagery In Pop Art Pop Art c. 1952 1970 Pop art began to emerge in the early 1950s as a result of a booming, capitalist American economy that followed the Second World War. A sense of optimism arose nationwide with new job security, healthy incomes and an absence of military obligations. Post war marriage and baby booms yielded the largest generation in the nations history . The American dream was born and idealized in the media through advertising. Research undertaken by sociologists into consumer habits and behavior became a marketing strategy and corporations adapted their production by tapping into what was fashionable and desirable among the masses. The exponentially growing population gave way to a social group that had never before been established in its own right, teenagers. Now that families could afford to give their children a wholesome education, this age group no longer had to spend their days contributing to the family income at work, which left more time and freedom for leisure activities. It is the first gift we receive from our parents the day we are born, and it is how we identify ourselves from that day forward. The first thing that is said when introducing oneself is your name. There s something about calling someone by name that indicates meaning and intentionality. Names are important to our parents, our friends, and everyone around us, but most importantly, they are special and significant to God. In the Bible, there is a pattern of God giving people new names when they realize their calling. For example, Abram was changed to Abraham and Saul was changed to Paul after his conversion on the road to Damascus. In Isaiah 43:1 it says, Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. The God of the universe knows and calls us by name. Although there are a number of different congestion measures, travel time measures offer the best means for estimating the economic impacts of the congestion. There are several reasons for this: 1. Travel time corresponds directly to the traveler s experience of congestion, when measured from a given origin to destination; 2. This mechanism essentially function by first initiation step in which the halogenated molecule splits into two halogenated radicals which is followed by the formation of a hydrocarbon radical. The next step of the radical mechanism, propagation, involves the hydrocarbon molecule reaction with a halogenated molecule, thus producing a hydrocarbon halogen (R X) compound, and more halogenation molecule thus allowing the reaction to continue on to completion. A control mechanism will allow for the prediction of what product will be obtained from a radical reaction. If random chance of the halogen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is once again due the reasoning stated earlier, as in terms of hydrogen reactivity: benzene aromatic ~ aliphatic tertiary secondary primary. This is based on the reasoning in Hammond s Postulates that the more stable radical will have a smaller rate determining step and the transition state will resemble the products more so, thus indicating why it can be considered more stable. The actual order observed was methylcyclohexane ethylbenzene toluene tert butylbenzene ~ cyclohexane. This was not the predicted order as methylcyclohexane should have reacted third fastest instead of reacting first as observed, however, excluding the error of methylcyclohexane the rest of the prediction seem to line up with the observed results. Since methylcyclohexane was the only contributor to the misalignment with the predicted and observed indicates that some sort of error occurred in the process of carrying out the reaction. The source of error is most likely due to the possibility that methylcyclohexane had the bromine added to it a few seconds prior to being set down and timed for a reaction. The reasoning behind this is because methylcyclohexane should react fast, however, should still be slower than ethylbenzne and toluene. Another source of error that was likely a major contributor was the amount of each compound present in the test tube. If too much of the arene was added to the test tube a the reaction time will likely be noticeably slower as there will b more product to brominate. Therefore, it is possible that the methylcyclohexane test tube (#13) had too little of methylcyclohexane in it. The toluene reaction time at 15 seconds also indicates that this test tube possibly had too much toluene placed in it, thus leading to a slower observed reaction time. Therefore, it is unlikely that the initial prediction was wrong due to the reactivity of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hrothgar, recognizing Beowulf s nobility and strength, talks to him about how he should act to be a good ruler when he becomes king. The characteristics of good leadership that Hrothgar mentions still hold true today, through people like politicians, and business executives. Hrothgar s sermon not only provides an insight into what leaders like these should do, it aims to bring to light what leaders should not do. To Hrothgar, a true leader should not be wicked to their people; rather, they should show kindness and be loved by their people. While talking about a previous ruler of the Danes, Hrothgar tells Beowulf that his rise in the world brought little joy to the Danish people, only death and destruction (McArthur). In order to keep the people happy, it is important to be open to them and generous. Beowulf does this when he becomes king of the Geats by becoming a ring giver to his people (Loughman). For example, after slaying the monster Grendel, Hrothgar rewards Beowulf, with a victory gift, an embroidered banner; also breast mail; and a sword carried high (Post). Reflection Paper On Terrorism Reflection Paper on Terrorism It is ironic that the U.S. and Saudi Arabia continue to sign historic agreements meant to confront current and emerging threats coming from terrorist financing the latter is one of the biggest state sponsors of terrorism. The creative responses that they create continue to formalize cooperation between them to counter terrorist financing. However, this is a lose lose partnership since donors in Saudi Arabia continue to fund Sunni terrorist groups across the world. The U.S. has to understand that the state s passivity toward terrorist groups is critical to their success as any form of deliberate assistance they access. The U.S. cannot proclaim to be the world leader in fighting terrorism yet the government continues to be the ultimate state sponsor of those who fund terrorism (Casaca Wolf, 2017). This states that in VIEs, consolidation is based on economic considerations, while with voting interest entities there is no explicit concept. In this concept VIEs are substantive if unilaterally exercisable by a single party (Ernst Young, 2011). Voting interest entities are exercisable by a majority of parties. • 41. Advancements Of The Early Modern Period Medicine It is difficult to decide whether the developments, inventions and discoveries of the Early Modern Period contributed to European power or whether it contributed to European progress. The reason this is, is because in the case of Europe, especially in this time period, power and progress seemed to go hand in hand. In the case of discovery the countries that had the most power led the way in discovering new land, it was this curiosity in expanding power that led to the progress of new worlds and opportunities. The invention of the printing press contributed to providing knowledge and therefore an aspect of power to people who did not have it beforehand and it was the progress of medicines and sciences that ensured not only the power and superiority of European knowledge but also the ability to progress to the next level of knowledge. From the beginnings of the Early Modern Period medicine was essentially summed up in high mortality rates and the notion that men and women were two completely different people anatomically, treatments were largely herbal and the type of doctor you went to see depended on what was wrong with you and if you could afford them . Attaining and preserving a state of health, therefore, required balance, and that equilibrium was inherently elusive and easily forfeited . However, while there was some progress in this field throughout the period it was not as drastic as one would expect, the Galenic body of the four humours was still a dominant ... • 42. A Comparison Of IQ Tests And The Stanford Binet Test By definition, intelligence is the ability to acquire and apply knowledge and skills. It is determined by the ways we are able to solve problems, our mathematical skills, interpersonal and intrapersonal knowledge, and naturalist intelligence. We are able to test our personal intelligent through many different quizzes called IQ tests. One of the most popular ones being the Stanford Binet tests, which is used as a good resource to test the intelligence of students. However, it is questionable whether or not IQ tests are very accurate. The two IQ tests that I took for this paper was a Stanford Binet Test, and a test from a website called Memorado. Each test took me approximately 10 15 minutes to complete in its entirety. Comparing the two tests, I saw a lot more similarities than I did differences. The Binet test was a set of 30 questions which assessed verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, as well as abstract reasoning. The areas were depicted in questions such as mathematical problems, word problems, and even problems that had a set of letters that I was instructed to make out an English word from them. The Memorado test was very similar, however it tested more questions about relationships between objects, and mathematical problems regarding what number came after the last in a tricky sequence. Regardless of the few differences in question structure, both tests seemed to be looking at the areas of mathematics, problem solving skills, and our ability to see ... • 43. Essay On Houston Environmental Issues The City of Houston is a beautiful city that is known for its bayous, multiculturalism and its importance to the US space program. It has also been known for its poor air quality with the city ranking in the top 10 worst cities for air population in the United States, which is primarily due to the most important industries to Houston economy the Houston Ship Channel and the oil and gas industries. Over the past couple of years a new environmental issue has taken place illegal dumping, which is astoundingly different than the environmental issues that the City of Houston has been commonly known for, although it has devastating effect. In, fact what is rather unusual for this issue unlike the issues of air pollution the oil and gas industry has little to no involvement with creating the issue. While the city of Houston and Galveston had created guidelines for handling illegal dumping in 1999 the need to address this issue returned in early 2015. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was never considered one of the best neighborhoods but her area never experienced the levels of trash and illegal dumping that I had experienced on that particular visit. Later that year these dumping sites became a huge burden for the city and tax payers due to cleanup cost Many local governments realize huge costs involved in continuously cleaning these sites up and are beginning to invest in prevention programs . (Pasternak, 2001) To find out more about the illegal dumping that has occurred around the city I conducted interviews at Lone Star Disposal Center and Ralston Road Landfill, I was able to gather some information from both sources about a few of the hazards that can occur because of these spots, where I can find additional info and where a few of the hot spots are that illegal dumpers usually dump their ... • 46. Evaluation On Tablets Vs. Laptops When looking at technology people look for certain criteria when it comes to evaluating the specific electronic device they want. Tablets in my opinion are way better than laptops only because they are less bulky; they are thin which makes tablets more versatile, their battery life lasts longer than a laptop, and ipad tablets have special programs a laptop doesn t obtain. Tablets have advanced over the years. Look at Apple for instance, they came out with the iPad mini and now they came out with an iPad with a retina display that means that the screen has sufficient pixel density, which means that the screen is brighter and clearer. Laptops may have a bigger screen but I don t see laptops advancing like tablets do these days. It is quite an experience if you own an ipad tablet, once you own one you will never want to go back to a laptop. Ipads has a built in Wi Fi and cellular connectivity so people can stay in touch easier than they would with a laptop. Laptops have Wi Fi but not cellular connectivity. They could use cellular connectivity through skype, but you have to pay to use it. Another cool thing this device has is a multi touch screen so you can quickly exit and enter into a new application and it has a virtual keyboard for typing up papers, taking notes, and researching information. One might argue, if they aren t into the high tech electronics, laptops are more suitable in their scenario because a laptop is simpler. Many, that I ve talked to prefer an ipad ...
