Punk Rock Revolution
Despite the internal turmoil in the punk movement, punk rock made several things clear to
international audiences. Punk Rock, in its subculture, managed to break down many barriers of
expression and language. It made an indentation in the commercial music industry. It provided a fresh
alternative to a boring, stagnant music scene. But most of all, punk s legacy lies in its introduction of
self employment and activism, most essential to Britain at the time. It illustrated that anyone can do it
themselves, without reliance on the commercial media or the luxury of having financial abundance.
Against the backdrop of mass consumer conformity, the punk rock movement made a statement of
individuality that was heard worldwide. Through the words ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

London was in decay, a waste land, in the late 60s and 70s. The people were enduring a great
depression, with a failed economy providing mass unemployment and, therefore, no money; thus
London teenagers were face with no future, no hope. Riots were the only way these angry teenagers
had voiced their frustration; that is, until Punk hit the streets. ÒI had no future, I had to write my own
future... it was the only way outÓ Johnny Rotten, Sex Pistols After a brief period managing the New
York Dolls, Englishman Malcolm McLaren returned to London in May 1975, inspired by the new
scene he had witnessed at CBGB. He opened SEX, a clothing store which specialized in anti fashion ,
and sold the slashed T shirts, drapes, brothel creepers and fetish gear later popularized by the punk
movement. He began managing his knew project The Swankers, who would soon evolve into the Sex
Pistols. The music began with Iggy Pop, but the Revolution began with The Sex Pistols. The Sex

very essence was born, political activism creating a social revolution.

The Statement Of Engineering Methods For Design And...
The ultimate goal of my research is to implement engineering methods for creating material designs
that would improve the quality of the life for humanity. More specifically, I implement the knowledge
and skills that I have developed over the past years to make progress in design and engineering of
smart materials, biomaterials, and metamaterials. By the witness of my former projects, publications,
degrees, and certificates, I possess solid knowledge and skills in designing and conducting
experimental, numerical and analytical research in interdisciplinary branches of material sciences. To
date, I have obtain major background in the fields of composite design, bioengineering, and multi
scale simulation, and accomplished multiple project in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A sample realization of the codes for simulating 3D particle reinforced composite is depicted in Figure
3. The results of these efforts have been (and will continue to be) published in peer reviewed journals
of science and presented in major engineering conferences. Moreover, methods developed for this
research can be made compatible for advancing research in phase change materials, coatings, tissue
engineering, and many more frontiers of science.
During my master s degree at Villanova University, I conducted an experimental research under the
supervision of Dr. Jens O.M. Karlsson at Biothermal Sciences Laboratory . In this NSF funded
research position, I designed, built, and optimized different types of glass capillary microfluidic
devices, and utilized them for producing micro emulsions. Subsequently, these micro emulsions were
used for investigating ice nucleation and crystallization in supercooled ultrapure water, for which I
used high speed imaging technique in conjunction with a powerful optical microscope and a cryo
stage. Figure 4 is a micrograph taken from one such video. Needless to mention, the knowledge
gained from these experiments can open new doors to understanding mechanisms of damage in cells
and tissue due to preservation at cryo temperatures.
The demand for smarter design of materials for health related and energy related applications keeps

Annotated Bibliography On Vascular Access Essay
Vascular Access
Usually, accessing vascular structures is done through a needle to puncture the vessel percutaneously,
followed by a wire introduced through the needle to secure the vascular access. The needle is then
removed and a sheath is advanced over the wire. Vascular sheaths are hollow structures with a built in
diaphragm to prevent bleeding. Catheters are then placed into and out of the sheath with a minimal
loss of blood.11
Access to the Cardiovascular System
Femoral arterial and venous access is traditionally the method of choice in infancy. The right and/or
the left groins may be used. This port of access provides advantage of being away from the thoracic
region for ease of catheter manipulation away from the radiographic cameras surrounding the child s
thorax. Umbilical arterial and venous access can be used in newborn babies up to 7 days of age. Other
alternative route for arterial access includes: carotid artery, brachial artery, and axillary artery. On the
other hand, alternative venous access includes: internal jugular vein, subclavian vein, axillary vein,
and transhepatic venous access. Alternative vascular access (ARVA) is occasionally required due to
the lack of femoral vascular patency or the need to position the catheter at a particular trajectory not
provided through the traditional femoral access. The use of ARVA is safe and effective for performing
a wide variety of interventions across. In addition, its use may improve the results of selected

The Basement At The End Of The World Essay
The basement at the bottom at the end of the world is a play written by Nadine Graham that portrays
an apocalyptic drama. In this play a young black woman named Daneen and a white man named Paul,
are thrown together in the rubble of civilization. They will have to attempt to bridge the differences
between them or their culture biases may keep them forever at each other s throats. The play takes
place in a basement that looks as if it were hit by an earthquake. Daneen, a teen black girl walks in
yelling hello? with a white rag doll in her hand. While in the basement, Daneen begins to look for
food when she was startled by Paul with a gun. From first sight, Daneen and Paul judged each other
based on stereotypes. At this point of the play both characters are full of uncertain with each other full
of biases toward each other that have been learned over their lives. The world is ending due to Earth

Crime is on the rise, which includes looting. Daneen insisted she was not looting, but in Paul s mind
black people steal. For example, the first things Paul says to Daneen is, Freeze! Who the hell are you
and what are you doing in my house? What are you, a looter? (231). In other words, without having
any information, Paul made up in his mind that she was a thief. This is important because it sets the
scene for the stereotypes to come. In return to Paul s quick judgement, Daneen stereotyped him as
being weak. This was shown when Daneen called his bluff and instead of freezing she turned to leave.
While Daneen was leaving, Paul shouts, Get back down here Now! Or I ll shoot, I swear to God!
(234). I believe Paul said this for several reasons. The first reason is because he felt territorial towards
his home. The last thing he wants is a looter disrespecting his home. In Paul s mind black people loot,
when he seen a black person (Daneen) he assumed that s what she was doing. Another reason I believe
he wanted Daneen to stay is because the

3. Other Variables
We assess respondent s history of alcohol and marijuana use within the last 30 days.
Inclusion Criteria
For this analysis, of all the survey results we included respondents who were 18 years of age or older
and self identified as being sexually active during the last 12 months.
Procedure
Permission for conducting the research and using the spring 2016 ACHA NCHA dataset was granted
by the School of Public Health at the University of Saskatchewan. The project reviewed and approved
by the University of Saskatchewan Research Ethics Review Board (REB). A request to obtain
Canadian data for the selected variables for this analysis was sent to the ACHA NCHA. Information
regarding the University of Saskatchewan survey was obtained through collaboration with the Student
Health Services office within the university campus.
Statistical Analysis
Of the 43,780 completed surveys, a total of 29,308 (66.9 %) were included in this analysis based on
the above criteria. Descriptive statistics and cross tabulations were calculated to characterize
demographic information and sexual and other risky behaviors. Those with missing values or not
applicable responses were excluded from the relevant analyses.
In order to assess the degree to which STI was associated with multiple demographic, sexual and
behavioural variables, Pearson s correlation coefficients were calculated. Chi square analyses were

Essay on Alcohol Advertising
Alcohol Advertising
Exposure to alcohol advertising is an everyday occurrence. Alcohol advertising is persuasive not only
to adults but to those who are too young to buy alcohol legally. Although parents and peers have a
large impact on youth decisions to drink, marketing also has a significant impact by influencing the
attitudes of parents and peers and helping to create an environment that promotes underage drinking.
Alcohol companies focus billions of dollars on advertising their products and still claim that the effect
is minimal. I pose a few questions that are; who are the targets of alcohol advertising? How does
alcohol advertising affect the people targeted by alcohol companies? Finally what actions are being
taken to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Recognizing this important marketing fact, alcohol companies deliberately devise ads designed to
appeal to heavy drinkers. The heavy user of alcohol is usually an addict. Another interesting
perspective on the industry s claim that it only advertises to encourage moderate drinking to those of
age, is that if this were true, and only the 105 million drinkers of legal age in the US consumed the
official maximum moderate amount of alcohol, .99 ounces or roughly two drinks, a day the industry
would suffer a 40 percent decrease in the sale of beer, wine, and distilled spirits. Meaning that if
alcohol companies truly only targeted who they claim they do, they would only be nearly cutting their
profits in half. Besides the heavy drinkers, the young audience plays a great deal to the alcohol
industry. It is no wonder alcohol is appealing to the youth when ads only display very healthy,
attractive, and youthful looking people. Advertising is a powerful educating force in American
Culture, one that promotes attitudes and values as well as products. Ads are now even featuring
characters with special appeal to children. The makers of some 200 consumer products including
stuffed animals, dolls, T shirts, posters, and mugs are dedicated to alcohol. Advertisements have even
gone as far as popular children s movies; one example of this was the very popular Teenage Mutant
Ninja Turtles movie. The average age which people begin

The Influence Of Technology On Society
Techno optimist or techno pessimist? That is the question. Technology throughout time has no doubt
changed our way of life. Travelling to destinations quicker, curing new diseases, or figuring out how
to cease a wide famine are examples of how technology has made advances over time. The solutions
that scientists create spark a tool that others cannot live without. But what if these technologies bring
out negative effects rather than their desired purpose? Sometimes, innovators create new inventions
that bring unintended consequences. It could range from less communication face to face, side effects
from new medicines, or pollute the earth s atmosphere. As a result of technology bringing out positive
and negative effects, many people have chosen to join a side on the issue. They are either called a
techno optimist or a techno pessimist. Both of these groups believe differently in the way technology
has brought innovations. For example, a techno optimist considers technology has made life better and
assumes further scientific discoveries in the future will no doubt improve our lives even further.
Techno pessimists however, ponder how technology has impacted human society.
Keep in mind, though, people don t always lean towards one side all the time and opinions change one
way or another. In the article Are You a Techno Optimist or a Techno Pessimist? , blog writer
Courtney Meehan challenges a question to the reader if they are either a techno optimist or a techno
pessimist.

of Styx, but held you by your ankle. Then when you turned 9 years old you re mother heard new that
you would be killed in the trojan war, dressed you as a woman, and sent you the Aegan Island of
Skyros. You were kept among the king s daughters, and then you soon left and joined the Greek army.

Paris then took her back to Troy. Menelaus heard and the ex suitors of Helen made a deal with

to find you and persuade you to join the war between the princes of Greece and the Trojans. Odysseus
was a great persuader , and with you thirst for adventure and glory, he talked you in the joining the
fight and you sailed for Troy. You took 50 ships, each carrying 50 men of your best men from your
private army, the Myrmidons. Is it true that Agamemnon and you had a falling out and you withdrew
from the conflict? and that the quarrel started after you had taken two women in one of your raids?
and that you gave one of the women to Agamemnon. But, the girl s father offered a ransom for the girl
s safe return. and that Agamemnon refused because the girl was a priestess of Apollo, and that the god
was unhappy with this decision and sent a plague to wreak amongst the Greek camp. and that
Agamemnon eventually gave back the girl, and to mourn the loss, he took your woman from you? and
without you, the Greeks were fearful of loss and the Trojans gained confidence of winning from your
absence, even reaching close to the walls of the Greek camp in their attacks and managing to set a few

back to Troy? To my understanding you killed Troilus and were very smitten with Priam s daughter

Helen Of The And The Odyssey
A name does not define who you were, who you are, or who you will become. It is just a sounds
others use to get your attention. Some of these sounds have a famous (or infamous) history that make
the name difficult to live up to or break away from. In the case of Helen of Omeros, the narrator is
constantly trying to fit her into the box created the legacy of Helen of Tory/Odyssey. However, Helen
of Omeros strong will and personality and overall uniqueness is still able to shine through, despite the
narrator s biases, and we are able to see the individual differences between the two women and their
connection to the evolution of Helen throughout history. We only catch a glimpse of Helen in the
Odyssey, but Helen in Walcott s Omeros is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He tries to tie her to the woman of her namesake, who doesn t exactly represent feminism, but she is
an individual and we can still see the strength in Helen of Omeros shine through. She doesn t allow
men to mistreat her and will stand up for herself, contradicting the stereotypical role of women as
timid and docile. She is independent, knows what she wants and does what she wants. She breaks
several gendered stereotypes. However, she could still be seen as falling into the place of a woman
when she starts a relationship with Achille after Hector dies. She could be doing this for the security
have a man/husband and father figure for her child would bring, but she may also be doing it for
herself, which would fall into line with the evolution into a more feminist character. Helen of the
Odyssey, on the other hand, could be seen as believing in and enforcing gender stereotypes on a much
deeper level. She allows for herself to be fought over and be the bride of whomever wins, rather than
choosing who she loves and wants to be with, which portrays her as a passive, submissive woman.
When Telemachus visits Sparta and shares a meal in Menelaus and Helen s home, Helen goes as far as
to drug all the men because they are crying, which isn t the manly thing to do. During the time of
Helen of the Odyssey, living and enforcing these types of gender roles was the standard way of life. In
the past few decades or so,

held instruments such as flutes and clarinets, on the second there were a wide variety of brass
instruments, and finally in the last row were the percussion instruments. Knowing that it was a wind

This song seemed to require the most work from the performers as it used a wide range of dynamics,
pitches, and tempo. The last song of the evening, and probably my favorite (not just because it was the
last), was Folk Dances . This song, just like the first, had a very festive feel to it. The upbeat tempo,
lead by the flutes and clarinets, made the song very enjoyable to hear and also had a very happy feel to
it, which, in my mind, made it a very appropriate closer. The song started with a great tempo but a
relatively soft dynamic. This quickly changed about half way through the song when the dynamics
picked up. The loud dynamics with the fast tempo at the end of the song had a very grandiose sound
and left the audience with a great taste in their mouths. Overall, this was a very good performance.
The audience applauded greatly at the end as parents stood proudly and embraced their sons and
daughters. I thought that it was well put together and was very interesting. I enjoyed the music more
than I thought I would and have the upmost of respect for the University of Redlands Wind

Donzoko High Socioeconomic Perspective
Oppression is a prologue of unjust and cruel control. It is closely associated with low socioeconomic
statuses making the desire to escape it very scarce. In Donzoko, by Akira Kurosawa and The Lower
Depths, by Maxim Gorky, characters are presented with low socioeconomic statuses. The absurdity
and cruelness of having a low socioeconomic status is displayed as well as the characters persistent
fight to escape it. The Lower Depths, by Maxim Gorky and the cinematic adaptation, Donzoko, by
Akira Kurosawa portray the inescapable oppressed socioeconomic status of characters, however, the
mean ways in which this is displayed vary as Gorky relies on dramatic conventions and Kurosawa
relies on cinematic conventions. In Donzoko, Akira Kurosawa utilizes the cinematic convention of
varying camera angles as it exemplifies the inescapable oppression and socioeconomic statuses by
expressing a multitude of perspectives. Throughout the movie, a reoccurring angle was shot from
below. The low angles intend for the audience to feel a sense of entrapment since only little sky and
high walls are seen in the background. In one scene Sutekichi whom is given a low socioeconomic
status walks outside. As a result of the low angle, the character is viewed from below and the audience
perceive a sense of entrapment. This sensation is justified by the seldom appearances of sky and
frequency of walls which expresses the impossibility of escaping this status. Additionally, the low
angle provides the

Postmodernist Women
A postmodernist world demands equality. One of the hot topics in the news today is, Should the
military require women to register for the draft? . Women want equality but this one question sparks a
heated debate on both sides. Over the years women have cried foul, starting the feminist movement in
which they demand equality between genders. Some feminists object to the biblical and traditional
name by which the Trinity is designated Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as implying a male deity. Some
churches have found the cry of the feminists plausible and have changed the premise of the Trinity to
Creator, Redeemer, Sustainer . John Wesley, one of the co founders of the Methodist, anticipated the
inadequacy of such a formula as Creator, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
God is three persons, each unique, wrapped in one. Today many in our society believe we can reinvent
the meaning of Scriptures to fit our way of thinking. Although the Bible does not present a carefully
nuanced philosophical discussion of the nature of truth, it does offer a unified perspective on the
matter of truth and falsity that flatly opposes the postmodernist orientation. It speaks authoritatively
not only on what things are true but on the nature of truth itself (Groothuis, 2000, p. 60). John 17:17
claims, Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth (King James Version). God s word is his
authoritative truth. In the Bible 2 Timothy 3:16 proclaims, All scripture is given by inspiration of God,
and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness . We cannot
take bits and pieces of God s word and try to fit them together to say what we want them to mean.
Galatians 3:28 sums up how we are looked at by God by stating, There is neither Jew nor Greek, there

To begin, I will be writing about Paraguay. I will be writing about the country; where is it, and
climate. Also other things like the people, points of interest, and favorite holidays. I will also be

The geography of Paraguay is about the size of California. The population is at its most on the grassy

In daily life Paraguayans eat corn, cassava, and beef. When they have special celebrations also called
asado they roast beef over an open fire. Also when men greet they usually give handshakes, or with a

Activities include dance, soccer games, and volleyball games. One of the most popular music is called
Paraguayan Polka, and a popular dance called the Bottle Dance where a woman dances with ten
bottles of her head. When Paraguayans have free time they usually laces make also known as Ñandutí

depends on agriculture products. The currency in called Paraguayan guarani also PYG. Three out of
the many exports that they have are leather, soybeans, and cotton. Their three leading imports are
vehicles, consumer goods, and tobacco. Over the past years the agriculture exports have increased
especially with soybeans. In conclusion, Paraguay has a lot of places to see like the Iguazu Falls,

My Observation Of My Observational Assignment
For my observational assignment I chose the first option which was to observe children or
adolescents. The two children that I observed were about three years old. It was one male and one
female. The children were playing with each other in a play area at a shopping mall. The two children
would spend a few minutes engaged in the same activity, but then would break up to play individually.
The personality traits that I noticed about the little girl was that she seemed to be extremely out going.
She did not appear to be afraid of anything. The little girl was very loud, and bold, and made her
presence known. It also seemed as though she would run away from her mother, rather than sticking
close by as instructed to. The little boy on the other hand seemed to be quite the opposite. He seemed
a little bit more reserved, maybe even shy. The little girl seemed a bit bossy instructing the boy on
what to do. I noticed that when she demonstrated this behavior, it prompted the separation and they
played individually. This however only lasted a few moments and the children were back to playing
with one another. I did notice that after some time the little boy seemed to loosen up his shyness and
begin to act more outgoing like the little girl. This leads me to believe that his behavior is influenced
more so by his environment than his genetics. It is possible to say that he is genetically predisposed to
be more reserved, but environmental factors can influence him to become a more

What Was The Triple Alliance In 1914
It is human nature for people to look back at past events in retrospection, wondering if the outcome
would have changed if a decision was made differently. World War I, or the war to end all wars, began
in the summer of 1914, but it was the events leading up to it, such as the creation of alliances, which
decided the fate of the war. Alliances are formal military or political agreements between countries,
which state that the will back the other country in the event of an attack, either financially or through
declaring war. Mamy alliances were made prior to the start of World War I, and as a result, all
European countries, including central powers, were conjoined. These alliance systems were the
catalyst which created the momentum of World ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Triple Alliance was a confidential alliance, which would militarily back the other country in the
event of a conflict. Germany was the strongest power in the alliance, with a growing military, and a
strong economy 1. Italy was the weakest country of the alliance due to the fact that it had a very weak
army and navy, which had little funding, but it had a geographical advantage compared to Austria and
Germany, so it served as a military base 2. Austria Hungary benefited from the alliance because it
protected them from Russia, who had conflicts with Austria in the Balkans and Bosnia 3. Another
alliance which played a prominent role in World War I, was the Triple Entente, which consisted of
Russia, France, and Great Britain. The Triple Entente was created in 1907, which like the Triple
Alliance, protect each other from attacks from a foreign country. The Triple Entente was a very
powerful alliance due to the fact that Britain had the strongest, most technologically advanced navy,
while France had a flourishing economy 4. The Triple Entente also had a geographical advantage over
the Triple Alliance, since it had the ability to attack the Triple Alliance on either side. Tom

Women s Athletics were introduced in 1980, when Divisions II and III established 10 championships
for 1981 82. A year later, the historic 75th Convention adopted an extensive governance plan to
include women s athletics programs, services and representation. (Crowley, 2006)
Discussion
What has happened to the idea of attending college for the sake of an education and playing a sport
that is loved by the athlete to help offset the cost of a college education? That simple thought seems to

Secret Life Of Bees Maturity
People can start out one way, and by the time life gets through with them they end up completely
different (Kidd 293). This quote from August Boatwright perfectly encompasses what happens to Lily
during The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd. All throughout the novel, the increased maturity of
Lily s character is very noticeable. At the beginning of the book, Lily, a 14 year old white girl who is
living in the South in the 1960 s, accepts segregation without questioning it. By the end, her
perspective on life and others changes to reflect a more sophisticated woman. Through
characterization, Lily matures as a person because she learns how to face conflicts as an adult and
treat people in a grown up way.

In exactly fifty pages, Lily goes from, My mother had left me. I hate her (Kidd 251) to ... I have
forgiven us both... (Kidd 301). For the first thirteen of fourteen chapters, Lily hates her mother, and
she makes this very clear. She directly tells August: My mother had left me. I hate her (Kidd 251). It s
not until August explains that Lily s mother, Deborah, ... was practically skin and bone... And all she
did was cry for a week, that Lily starts to understand why she had to leave: she was being treated
abusively by T. Ray (Kidd 252). Once Lily has this information, she begins the healing and forgiving
process. This process is also helped along by Lily finally knowing the full truth about her mother s
mysterious death. The fact that Lily physically chases T. Ray as he s about to leave the Boatwright s
house shows that she is ready to know, once and for all, the truth about her mother s death. She is
prepared for the possibility that she did in fact kill her mother. By allowing herself to know the truth,
she forgives herself and her mother for leaving. She even says, I guess I have forgiven us both,
although sometimes in the night my dreams will take me back to the sadness, and I have to wake up
and forgive us again (Kidd 301). Progress in the process of Lily forgiving herself and her mom is
clearly shown. Overall, she has condoned the actions of her mother, but still has little flashbacks or
moments of weakness where she has to forgive

Discuss the view that urbanisation in both the developed...
Discuss the view that urbanisation in both the developed and the developing world is unsustainable
(40marks)
Urbanisation is the process in which people move from a rural area to an urban area. Levels of
urbanisation are determined by looking at both the population of rural and urban areas. For the first
time ever in history more people live in urban areas than in rural areas. This movement shows no sign
of stopping with a predicted 1.84% increase in people living in urban areas expected between 2015
and 2020. And this disparity in rural urban growth can be a really damaging element if the urban areas
of a country aren t prepared for the influx of people.
This imbalance can certainly lead to unsustainability; not just in the developing ... Show more content

This meant that slum housing and cheap terraced housing was built and factories were situated near
the houses in various inner city areas. This can be seen in British cities such as Manchester, Leeds and
Newcastle.
On the other hand, developing nations face more problems in coping with the surge in urban
population. They can be unprepared for the sheer amount of inward migrants or lack funds to properly
support and educate the new residents. Their urbanisation has happened in more recent years; and
some may argue that it has occurred a lot faster than it did with their developed counterparts. This
speed is most likely due to the technological age that we live in and the ease of travel that exists in
many developing nations. Unlike the urbanisation that happened in Europe circa 1800, the migrants
that are flocking to urban areas don t need many particular skills and the work is low paid both in and
out of cities. The city offers a better prospects to migrants than the fields do, and that is the prime
reason why anyone would move.
There are inevitable problems that arise with a densely populated urban area. One of these is the issue
of waste management. Countries cope with this issue in various ways, some of the solutions are not
available to developing countries to the high cost of them.
In a developed country such as the United Kingdom, there are laws in place that encourage and

The Oresteia
Instead of saying The Oresteia is a tragic trilogy that many people are killed, it would be more
appropriate to generalize it as the extension and the termination of vendetta. Even though Oresteia
doesn t cover the origin of the whole feud of the twins, Atreus and Thyestes, the whole trilogy never
digresses from the main theme: revenge. As the first observable vendetta in the trilogy, Clytemnestra s
revenge to Agamemnon is dramatic and thought provoking with the specialty of her role in her family
and her reasons to kill Agamemnon in the story.
For the mariticide in Agamemnon, reflecting Clytemnestra s attitude to Agamemnon is way more
significant than marking as the first murdering in the trilogy. From line 1521 to 1564, we may

In today s ethic, we may condemn everyone who murders his family members no matter who they are.
But in pre modern society, people normally rebuke and disdain those who murders his/her bloodlines
because it is a betrayal to their parents or their own blood. In line 1529, Clytemnestra describes
Agamemnon s bloodline killing and his death that with the sword he struck; with the sword he paid for
his own act. This indicates another reason that Clytemnestra murders Agamemnon: to punish those
who betrayed their bloodlines. Since Iphigeneia is the daughter of both Agamemnon and
Clytemnestra, killing Agamemnon is definitely reasonable to Clytemnestra. Nevertheless,
Clytemnestra is also the member of Agamemnon family, what will people think if she murders her
husband? People might not judge the murderer in the mariticide or uxoricide as heavy as those murder
the bloodlines because sexual partners don t share the blood from the same parents during pre modern
period. In a way, mariticide and uxoricide are totally same as the normal murdering. Thus, we may see
the Chorus is unable to condemn Clytemnestra for betraying her husband and Make lamentation,
render the graceless grace to his soul for huge things done in wickedness? (1544) is the most they may

Organ Transplantation Is The Removal Of A Healthy Organ
Carolyn Yuan Mrs. Piechowiak 2nd Period 8th Grade Accelerated Language Arts December 14th,
2015 Organ Transplants Organ transplantation is the removal of a healthy organ from one person and
placing it into another whose organ has failed, or is injured. It is known to be life saving 80 percent of
the time, but it is a major surgery that carries many me potential risks and complications the biggest
one being organ rejection. (WebMD) Organ transplants have quite some history. The first successful
kidney transplant was performed not even a century ago, in 1954. Despite this small time gap, many
technologies have been discovered in this field. Organ transplantation is being performed much more
commonly but there are still many improvements that are needed to be made. (Transplant Village)
Although organ transplants are supposed to save lives, it may not be worth the risks; it can easily
cause health complications and economic instability to both the donor and recipient. For all, medical
risks and psychological concerns can occur if the surgery is not successful, or if the donor and/or
recipient do not recover fully. (Lohse) In order to prevent the body from rejecting an organ,
immunosuppressant drugs are to be taken for the rest of the patient s life. Immunosuppressant drugs,
known as anti rejection drugs, suppress the strength of the body s immune system in order to lower the
body s ability to reject the organ that is recognized as foreign. But with this attempt for justice,

Commuting vs. Dorming The hardest decision a student has to make during their senior year of high

advantages and disadvantages to both scenarios. The entire college experience is a learning trip and it
is oftentimes a young adults first step towards independence. Living on campus is an adjustment and
is a huge eye opener to the real world. The college dorm life is considered to be part of the full college

Since fellow students always surround you, it s a lot easier to make friends and develop lasting
relationships. Even if you don t have a roommate, you re sure to meet students who live in your dorm

can speak of your time where you were a teenager that moved away from home to try something new.
The people you meet and the times you will share with them will be with you forever. There are many
advantages for living on campus, however, there also many disadvantages too. Constant
companionship in your living space can sometimes be a disadvantage, especially in situations when
you want privacy. If you are accustomed to living in your own room in your parents house and
suddenly have to share a room with others, this can take some adjustment time (Bartkowski1). Noise
also is huge factor to the disadvantages of living on campus. Dorms can be a noisy place, considering
there are many students living there who gather in dorm rooms or the lounge. However, if you need
some quiet time to study or do homework, you can always go to the library. Dorming can also be very
overwhelming at first. You can easily be distracted by parties or hanging out in the lounge or a friends
dorm. Also it makes it more susceptible to leave everything for last minute and realize that you have

Greater concern about terrorism places new opportunities before the design community. If protection

crime was the issue of the nineties, while terrorism has become the talk at the onset of 21st century.
Understanding crime prevention design is therefore an invaluable tool in organization and

Metacognitive Self Regulation
Rationale
The purpose of this study is to investigate whether metacognitive and self regulation interventions
improve mathematical achievement in children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
Although self regulation has an ambiguous meaning, recently it has been referred to as the ability to
manage one s behavior, so as to withstand impulses, maintain focus, and undertake tasks, even if there
are other more enticing alternatives available (Boyd et al., 2005, p. 3). Jarvela and Jarvenoja, (2011),
Zimmerman, (2008) stated that self regulation is essential to the learning process and Wolters (2011)
suggested that it can aid individuals, especially secondary school students in developing more
effective learning habits. Self regulation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Due to this particular research on the development of self regulation in children many studies have
investigated the possible effects of metacognitive and self regulation strategies on academia. For
example, Labuhn et al., (2010) reported that students that received SRL assistance and guidance were
more likely to exhibit higher levels of self efficacy towards their academic ability resulting in
improved performance within the classroom. It was also concluded that self regulated learners
performed at a higher standard in comparison to students that did not receive SRL guidance (Labuhn
et al., 2010). Additionally Researchers, Graham Harris (2000) and Kistner et al. (2010) found that SRL
results in improved performance within a learning environment and can also limit academic deficiency
in many students. Self regulated learning strategies and interventions must be aided by metacognitive
reflection and feedback from teachers and at times from peers through group tasks etc. (Dignath and
Büttner, 2008). Although there are countless studies investigating metacognition and self regulation
strategies, those that address individuals with behavioural disorders are scarce, especially in regards to
children. The reasoning for this is not only due to the numerous challenges regarding the formulation
of self regulatory abilities in children (Harris Schmidt, 1997), but also due to the significant problems
with attention, inhibition and impulsivity that children with ADHD exhibit which makes formulation
of self regulatory an incredibly difficult task. This study therefore aims to provide further information
and understanding on the

but think adversely, their lives will become fruitless. Gandhi s exhortation, stating that the thoughts a

Heart of Darkness, by Joseph Conrad, and Mountains Beyond Mountains, by Tracy Kidder. Kurtz, the

What Is The Message Of Cyrano De Bergerac
There are not many movies that have been produced that consider the nature of beauty and inner self,
while still having an emotive storyline, the film Cyrano de Bergerac is one of them. The tangled
relationships of Roxane, Cyrano and Christian, along with many minor characters of the film, explore
what is most important and what truly prevails in love. Even though at the end of the film you are left
with a melancholy feeling brought up by the fact that the main characters quite literally lose
everything, you still find that it has given the viewer a message. A message saying that you will not
get what you want if you don t try or if you stay quiet, even if you are rejected at least you tried.

Knowing now, that if he expresses his love he is surely to be rejected, he does not speak a word. When
Christian comes to him wanting to write poetry, Cyrano comes up with the plan that he will write the
letters for Christian. He does not mean this as a ruse but as a way of expressing his love for Roxane.
Roxane eventually falls in love with the writer, while believing it to be Christian still, yet any chance
of a relationship between the two fails because of Christian s untimely bereavement. We ultimately see
that neither Roxane nor Cyrano achieve love.
Love is represented as the most important value, above life, in this film and we see this through
Roxane and Cyrano s relationship, Cyrano loved Roxane more than his life. He even went to see her
when he knew he was going to die soon. He didn t think of the consequences and his love prevailed
because he wanted to see her just one more time, because he made her a promise. Also, their
relationship gives us an indication into the true nature of beauty and inner self, when it shows us that
there are two kinds of beauty, inner and outer, yet the latter is more important because it shows us a
person s soul.
The film also indicates ideas of false and misguided love, as seen by the characters of Roxane and
Christian, who believe that they are in love with each other but are in fact in love with other people.

The 3rd Tuesdays With Morrie
Super Summarizer: Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom (Week 4, pages 60 to 79)
Title: The Third Tuesday, We Talk About Dependence
Throughout pages 60 to 79 of Tuesdays with Morrie , the story touches upon the topics of trust,
nostalgia (a sentimental longing or wistful affection for the past), and affection; topics that require us
to rely on something or someone and teach us the important of dependency.
In the chapter The Second Tuesday , Morrie teaches his class about trust through an activity where We
are to stand, facing away from our classmates, and fall back ward, replying on another student to catch
us (Albom, 60). The moral of this activity is to teach us how and who to trust, as evident in the
following passage. Sometimes you cannot believe what you see, you have to believe what you feel.
And if you are ever going to have other people trust you, you must feel that you can trust them, too
even when you re in the dark. Even when you re falling (61). Morrie is teaching us that to depend on

The Treaty Of Versailles And Its Effect On The World War I
The Treaty of Versailles
The Treaty of Versailles was a treaty signed between Germany and the Allies which consisted of
Britain, France and America. The idea of the Treaty was to end World War one and Germany would be
too weak to start another war. This meant that there would be peace throughout Europe for a long time
but it was controversial at best. It was signed in the Versailles palace which was large enough for
hundreds of people to be involved in the signing on 28th of June 1919. Germany had almost no say in
what was put into the treaty but they had no choice but to sign it otherwise they would be invaded by
the Allies. Its 15 parts and 440 articles reassigned German boundaries and assigned liability for

Along with the reduction of men, Germany was not allowed tanks, submarines or military aircraft and
the navy could only have six battleships (Mr Hinds History; what were the main Terms of the
Versailles Treaty 2016). This was created so that Germany would not have the force to declare war but
still had the power to stop communism from getting into Western Europe. Another aspect to the Treaty
of Versailles were the economic terms. These terms stated that Germany had to pay 6.6 billion dollars
back to the allies. Germany was not able to pay this amount of money so they had to borrow money
from nearby countries. This meant that Germany fell into huge amounts of debt and lost their title for
second most economically advanced country in the world.
There were two more important Terms for The Treaty of Versailles, they were the General terms and
the territorial terms. There were three important general clauses to the treaty. The first was that
Germany had to take all responsibility for the war, this was called the War Guilt Clause and it was the
term that Germany was the most upset about. The second was that Germany had to pay for all war
damages which was mostly to France and Belgium. The third was that a League of Nations was set up
to keep world peace and Germany was not allowed to join. There were also the territorial terms of the
treaty where Germany had to give up

Importance Of Pitching In A Nursery
First you need to know that you want to pitch. If you don t want to pitch then don t do it. So, first you
need a good pitching stance. You should get someone that knows the rules of pitching. If you are
pitching wrong than it can be called a bok. A bok is like a penalty. If you do it once you will get a
warning. If you do it again, all the base runners will advance one base. That isn´t good. After you
found a good stance, you need to work on gripping the ball a good way. When you have a good grip
you need to start slow. Throw the ball a few times slow. When you start getting the hang of it go a
little faster and faster until you throw at a good speed. There is a lot more to know about pitching. The
pitcher is the 2nd strongest person on a baseball team. Pitching is really hard to do. I can pitch 70+
m/h. Usually people my age can pitch at 30+ m/h. What i did to pitch that fast is make a exercise
chart. I did 50 push ups every hour from 8am to 8pm. Then i would bench lift 80 lbs 3 times a day. I
would also work my legs. I would leg press 300 lbs!? But remember to keep your expectations low. I
could barely pitch 20 m/h. Then i was sad. So i did the exercises. I made my goal. I was a lot happier.

  • 2. Punk Rock Revolution Despite the internal turmoil in the punk movement, punk rock made several things clear to international audiences. Punk Rock, in its subculture, managed to break down many barriers of expression and language. It made an indentation in the commercial music industry. It provided a fresh alternative to a boring, stagnant music scene. But most of all, punk s legacy lies in its introduction of self employment and activism, most essential to Britain at the time. It illustrated that anyone can do it themselves, without reliance on the commercial media or the luxury of having financial abundance. Against the backdrop of mass consumer conformity, the punk rock movement made a statement of individuality that was heard worldwide. Through the words ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... London was in decay, a waste land, in the late 60s and 70s. The people were enduring a great depression, with a failed economy providing mass unemployment and, therefore, no money; thus London teenagers were face with no future, no hope. Riots were the only way these angry teenagers had voiced their frustration; that is, until Punk hit the streets. ÒI had no future, I had to write my own future... it was the only way outÓ Johnny Rotten, Sex Pistols After a brief period managing the New York Dolls, Englishman Malcolm McLaren returned to London in May 1975, inspired by the new scene he had witnessed at CBGB. He opened SEX, a clothing store which specialized in anti fashion , and sold the slashed T shirts, drapes, brothel creepers and fetish gear later popularized by the punk movement. He began managing his knew project The Swankers, who would soon evolve into the Sex Pistols. The music began with Iggy Pop, but the Revolution began with The Sex Pistols. The Sex PistolÕs took the American form of Punk and made it their own, with Anarchist core, thus PunkÕs very essence was born, political activism creating a social revolution. The ultimate goal of my research is to implement engineering methods for creating material designs that would improve the quality of the life for humanity. More specifically, I implement the knowledge and skills that I have developed over the past years to make progress in design and engineering of smart materials, biomaterials, and metamaterials. By the witness of my former projects, publications, degrees, and certificates, I possess solid knowledge and skills in designing and conducting experimental, numerical and analytical research in interdisciplinary branches of material sciences. To date, I have obtain major background in the fields of composite design, bioengineering, and multi scale simulation, and accomplished multiple project in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A sample realization of the codes for simulating 3D particle reinforced composite is depicted in Figure 3. The results of these efforts have been (and will continue to be) published in peer reviewed journals of science and presented in major engineering conferences. Moreover, methods developed for this research can be made compatible for advancing research in phase change materials, coatings, tissue engineering, and many more frontiers of science. During my master s degree at Villanova University, I conducted an experimental research under the supervision of Dr. Jens O.M. Karlsson at Biothermal Sciences Laboratory . In this NSF funded research position, I designed, built, and optimized different types of glass capillary microfluidic devices, and utilized them for producing micro emulsions. Subsequently, these micro emulsions were used for investigating ice nucleation and crystallization in supercooled ultrapure water, for which I used high speed imaging technique in conjunction with a powerful optical microscope and a cryo stage. Figure 4 is a micrograph taken from one such video. Needless to mention, the knowledge gained from these experiments can open new doors to understanding mechanisms of damage in cells and tissue due to preservation at cryo temperatures. The demand for smarter design of materials for health related and energy related applications keeps ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Annotated Bibliography On Vascular Access Essay Vascular Access Usually, accessing vascular structures is done through a needle to puncture the vessel percutaneously, followed by a wire introduced through the needle to secure the vascular access. The needle is then removed and a sheath is advanced over the wire. Vascular sheaths are hollow structures with a built in diaphragm to prevent bleeding. Catheters are then placed into and out of the sheath with a minimal loss of blood.11 Access to the Cardiovascular System Femoral arterial and venous access is traditionally the method of choice in infancy. The right and/or the left groins may be used. This port of access provides advantage of being away from the thoracic region for ease of catheter manipulation away from the radiographic cameras surrounding the child s thorax. Umbilical arterial and venous access can be used in newborn babies up to 7 days of age. Other alternative route for arterial access includes: carotid artery, brachial artery, and axillary artery. On the other hand, alternative venous access includes: internal jugular vein, subclavian vein, axillary vein, and transhepatic venous access. Alternative vascular access (ARVA) is occasionally required due to the lack of femoral vascular patency or the need to position the catheter at a particular trajectory not provided through the traditional femoral access. The use of ARVA is safe and effective for performing a wide variety of interventions across. In addition, its use may improve the results of selected ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Basement At The End Of The World Essay The basement at the bottom at the end of the world is a play written by Nadine Graham that portrays an apocalyptic drama. In this play a young black woman named Daneen and a white man named Paul, are thrown together in the rubble of civilization. They will have to attempt to bridge the differences between them or their culture biases may keep them forever at each other s throats. The play takes place in a basement that looks as if it were hit by an earthquake. Daneen, a teen black girl walks in yelling hello? with a white rag doll in her hand. While in the basement, Daneen begins to look for food when she was startled by Paul with a gun. From first sight, Daneen and Paul judged each other based on stereotypes. At this point of the play both characters are full of uncertain with each other full of biases toward each other that have been learned over their lives. The world is ending due to Earth moving too ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Crime is on the rise, which includes looting. Daneen insisted she was not looting, but in Paul s mind black people steal. For example, the first things Paul says to Daneen is, Freeze! Who the hell are you and what are you doing in my house? What are you, a looter? (231). In other words, without having any information, Paul made up in his mind that she was a thief. This is important because it sets the scene for the stereotypes to come. In return to Paul s quick judgement, Daneen stereotyped him as being weak. This was shown when Daneen called his bluff and instead of freezing she turned to leave. While Daneen was leaving, Paul shouts, Get back down here Now! Or I ll shoot, I swear to God! (234). I believe Paul said this for several reasons. The first reason is because he felt territorial towards his home. The last thing he wants is a looter disrespecting his home. In Paul s mind black people loot, when he seen a black person (Daneen) he assumed that s what she was doing. Another reason I believe he wanted Daneen to stay is because the ... • 7. Essay on Alcohol Advertising Alcohol Advertising Exposure to alcohol advertising is an everyday occurrence. Alcohol advertising is persuasive not only to adults but to those who are too young to buy alcohol legally. Although parents and peers have a large impact on youth decisions to drink, marketing also has a significant impact by influencing the attitudes of parents and peers and helping to create an environment that promotes underage drinking. Alcohol companies focus billions of dollars on advertising their products and still claim that the effect is minimal. I pose a few questions that are; who are the targets of alcohol advertising? How does alcohol advertising affect the people targeted by alcohol companies? Finally what actions are being taken to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Recognizing this important marketing fact, alcohol companies deliberately devise ads designed to appeal to heavy drinkers. The heavy user of alcohol is usually an addict. Another interesting perspective on the industry s claim that it only advertises to encourage moderate drinking to those of age, is that if this were true, and only the 105 million drinkers of legal age in the US consumed the official maximum moderate amount of alcohol, .99 ounces or roughly two drinks, a day the industry would suffer a 40 percent decrease in the sale of beer, wine, and distilled spirits. Meaning that if alcohol companies truly only targeted who they claim they do, they would only be nearly cutting their profits in half. Besides the heavy drinkers, the young audience plays a great deal to the alcohol industry. It is no wonder alcohol is appealing to the youth when ads only display very healthy, attractive, and youthful looking people. Advertising is a powerful educating force in American Culture, one that promotes attitudes and values as well as products. Ads are now even featuring characters with special appeal to children. The makers of some 200 consumer products including stuffed animals, dolls, T shirts, posters, and mugs are dedicated to alcohol. Travelling to destinations quicker, curing new diseases, or figuring out how to cease a wide famine are examples of how technology has made advances over time. The solutions that scientists create spark a tool that others cannot live without. But what if these technologies bring out negative effects rather than their desired purpose? Sometimes, innovators create new inventions that bring unintended consequences. It could range from less communication face to face, side effects from new medicines, or pollute the earth s atmosphere. As a result of technology bringing out positive and negative effects, many people have chosen to join a side on the issue. They are either called a techno optimist or a techno pessimist. Both of these groups believe differently in the way technology has brought innovations. For example, a techno optimist considers technology has made life better and assumes further scientific discoveries in the future will no doubt improve our lives even further. Techno pessimists however, ponder how technology has impacted human society. Keep in mind, though, people don t always lean towards one side all the time and opinions change one way or another. She doesn t allow men to mistreat her and will stand up for herself, contradicting the stereotypical role of women as timid and docile. She is independent, knows what she wants and does what she wants. She breaks several gendered stereotypes. However, she could still be seen as falling into the place of a woman when she starts a relationship with Achille after Hector dies. She could be doing this for the security have a man/husband and father figure for her child would bring, but she may also be doing it for herself, which would fall into line with the evolution into a more feminist character. Helen of the Odyssey, on the other hand, could be seen as believing in and enforcing gender stereotypes on a much deeper level. She allows for herself to be fought over and be the bride of whomever wins, rather than choosing who she loves and wants to be with, which portrays her as a passive, submissive woman. When Telemachus visits Sparta and shares a meal in Menelaus and Helen s home, Helen goes as far as to drug all the men because they are crying, which isn t the manly thing to do. It is closely associated with low socioeconomic statuses making the desire to escape it very scarce. In Donzoko, by Akira Kurosawa and The Lower Depths, by Maxim Gorky, characters are presented with low socioeconomic statuses. The absurdity and cruelness of having a low socioeconomic status is displayed as well as the characters persistent fight to escape it. The Lower Depths, by Maxim Gorky and the cinematic adaptation, Donzoko, by Akira Kurosawa portray the inescapable oppressed socioeconomic status of characters, however, the mean ways in which this is displayed vary as Gorky relies on dramatic conventions and Kurosawa relies on cinematic conventions. In Donzoko, Akira Kurosawa utilizes the cinematic convention of varying camera angles as it exemplifies the inescapable oppression and socioeconomic statuses by expressing a multitude of perspectives. The personality traits that I noticed about the little girl was that she seemed to be extremely out going. She did not appear to be afraid of anything. Their urbanisation has happened in more recent years; and some may argue that it has occurred a lot faster than it did with their developed counterparts. This speed is most likely due to the technological age that we live in and the ease of travel that exists in many developing nations. (Lohse) In order to prevent the body from rejecting an organ, immunosuppressant drugs are to be taken for the rest of the patient s life. Immunosuppressant drugs, known as anti rejection drugs, suppress the strength of the body s immune system in order to lower the body s ability to reject the organ that is recognized as foreign. • 24. Commuting vs Dorming Chelsea Clough Professor Dingle English 13 December 2012 Commuting vs. Dorming The hardest decision a student has to make during their senior year of high school is which school to attend and whether to live on campus or commute. There are both advantages and disadvantages to both scenarios. The entire college experience is a learning trip and it is oftentimes a young adults first step towards independence. Living on campus is an adjustment and is a huge eye opener to the real world. The college dorm life is considered to be part of the full college experience, but the costs of living in a residence hall can persuade students to remain home while they are in college in order to avoid housing fees. The biggest advantage of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since fellow students always surround you, it s a lot easier to make friends and develop lasting relationships. Even if you don t have a roommate, you re sure to meet students who live in your dorm hall. Dorming at school is a great experience that you will never forget. For the rest of your life you can speak of your time where you were a teenager that moved away from home to try something new. The people you meet and the times you will share with them will be with you forever. There are many advantages for living on campus, however, there also many disadvantages too. Constant companionship in your living space can sometimes be a disadvantage, especially in situations when you want privacy. If you are accustomed to living in your own room in your parents house and suddenly have to share a room with others, this can take some adjustment time (Bartkowski1). Noise also is huge factor to the disadvantages of living on campus. Dorms can be a noisy place, considering there are many students living there who gather in dorm rooms or the lounge. However, if you need some quiet time to study or do homework, you can always go to the library. Dorming can also be very overwhelming at first. You can easily be distracted by parties or hanging out in the lounge or a friends dorm. Also it makes it more susceptible to leave everything for last minute and realize that you have no time to ... Effects of Urban Crime on the Urban Environment EFFECTS OF URBAN CRIME ON THE URBAN ENVIRONMENT Technical Paper by: Ms. Adit Padhi (aditipadhi@gmail.com) Greater concern about terrorism places new opportunities before the design community. If protection is considered from the outset, design can make buildings and people safer. 1 Introduction Violent crime was the issue of the nineties, while terrorism has become the talk at the onset of 21st century. Understanding crime prevention design is therefore an invaluable tool in organization and maintenance of order in our societies. • 26. Metacognitive Self Regulation Rationale The purpose of this study is to investigate whether metacognitive and self regulation interventions improve mathematical achievement in children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Although self regulation has an ambiguous meaning, recently it has been referred to as the ability to manage one s behavior, so as to withstand impulses, maintain focus, and undertake tasks, even if there are other more enticing alternatives available (Boyd et al., 2005, p. 3). Jarvela and Jarvenoja, (2011), Zimmerman, (2008) stated that self regulation is essential to the learning process and Wolters (2011) suggested that it can aid individuals, especially secondary school students in developing more effective learning habits. Self regulation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Due to this particular research on the development of self regulation in children many studies have investigated the possible effects of metacognitive and self regulation strategies on academia. For example, Labuhn et al., (2010) reported that students that received SRL assistance and guidance were more likely to exhibit higher levels of self efficacy towards their academic ability resulting in improved performance within the classroom. It was also concluded that self regulated learners performed at a higher standard in comparison to students that did not receive SRL guidance (Labuhn et al., 2010). Additionally Researchers, Graham Harris (2000) and Kistner et al. (2010) found that SRL results in improved performance within a learning environment and can also limit academic deficiency in many students. Self regulated learning strategies and interventions must be aided by metacognitive reflection and feedback from teachers and at times from peers through group tasks etc. (Dignath and Büttner, 2008). Although there are countless studies investigating metacognition and self regulation strategies, those that address individuals with behavioural disorders are scarce, especially in regards to children. The reasoning for this is not only due to the numerous challenges regarding the formulation of self regulatory abilities in children (Harris Schmidt, 1997), but also due to the significant problems with attention, inhibition and impulsivity that children with ADHD exhibit which makes formulation of self regulatory an incredibly difficult task. This study therefore aims to provide further information and understanding on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 29. Heart Of Darkness Compare And Contrast Essay Mahatma Gandhi once said, A man is but the product of his thoughts; what he thinks, he becomes , preaching to his admirers a foolproof formula: think advantageously, their lives will become fruitful but think adversely, their lives will become fruitless. Gandhi s exhortation, stating that the thoughts a person fills their head with will bleed into the type of lives they live, proves true in both the stories Heart of Darkness, by Joseph Conrad, and Mountains Beyond Mountains, by Tracy Kidder. Kurtz, the idol in Heart of Darkness, and Paul Farmer, the hero in Mountains Beyond Mountains, adapt this formula in paradoxical fashions. Gandhi, a peaceful protester in the early twentieth century, was protesting the unethical governing of India by the British, similar to the natives of the Congo who were controlled by the Belgians; the singular difference being Gandhi was educated enough to revolt, unlike the Congolese. Gandhi also put the needs of others before his own, congeneric to Paul Farmer. His eventual assassination mirrors Kurtz s death, not in the manner of how it happened, but rather what they died for. Both died for their passion; Kurtz s being wealth and power and Gandhi s being peace and equality. These two books aided the realization of why Gandhi did what he did passion. The passion needed to fast for twenty one days, own less than ten things, endure level headed when aggressively attacked, and to go to jail a multitude of times for nonviolent protests must be immense. The actions of Farmer and Kurtz exhibit that passion will drive a person to perform seemingly irrational things; whether it is becoming the god of native savages or pouring millions of dollars into a war torn, disease ridden country passion is the driving ... • 30. What Is The Message Of Cyrano De Bergerac There are not many movies that have been produced that consider the nature of beauty and inner self, while still having an emotive storyline, the film Cyrano de Bergerac is one of them. The tangled relationships of Roxane, Cyrano and Christian, along with many minor characters of the film, explore what is most important and what truly prevails in love. Even though at the end of the film you are left with a melancholy feeling brought up by the fact that the main characters quite literally lose everything, you still find that it has given the viewer a message. A message saying that you will not get what you want if you don t try or if you stay quiet, even if you are rejected at least you tried. The message of the film is truly embodied by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Knowing now, that if he expresses his love he is surely to be rejected, he does not speak a word. When Christian comes to him wanting to write poetry, Cyrano comes up with the plan that he will write the letters for Christian. He does not mean this as a ruse but as a way of expressing his love for Roxane. Roxane eventually falls in love with the writer, while believing it to be Christian still, yet any chance of a relationship between the two fails because of Christian s untimely bereavement. We ultimately see that neither Roxane nor Cyrano achieve love. Love is represented as the most important value, above life, in this film and we see this through Roxane and Cyrano s relationship, Cyrano loved Roxane more than his life. He even went to see her when he knew he was going to die soon. He didn t think of the consequences and his love prevailed because he wanted to see her just one more time, because he made her a promise. Also, their relationship gives us an indication into the true nature of beauty and inner self, when it shows us that there are two kinds of beauty, inner and outer, yet the latter is more important because it shows us a person s soul. The film also indicates ideas of false and misguided love, as seen by the characters of Roxane and Christian, who believe that they are in love with each other but are in fact in love with other people. The 3rd Tuesdays With Morrie Super Summarizer: Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom (Week 4, pages 60 to 79) Title: The Third Tuesday, We Talk About Dependence Throughout pages 60 to 79 of Tuesdays with Morrie , the story touches upon the topics of trust, nostalgia (a sentimental longing or wistful affection for the past), and affection; topics that require us to rely on something or someone and teach us the important of dependency. In the chapter The Second Tuesday , Morrie teaches his class about trust through an activity where We are to stand, facing away from our classmates, and fall back ward, replying on another student to catch us (Albom, 60). The moral of this activity is to teach us how and who to trust, as evident in the following passage. Sometimes you cannot believe what you see, you have to believe what you feel. And if you are ever going to have other people trust you, you must feel that you can trust them, too even when you re in the dark. Even when you re falling (61). The Treaty Of Versailles And Its Effect On The World War I The Treaty of Versailles The Treaty of Versailles was a treaty signed between Germany and the Allies which consisted of Britain, France and America. The idea of the Treaty was to end World War one and Germany would be too weak to start another war. This meant that there would be peace throughout Europe for a long time but it was controversial at best. It was signed in the Versailles palace which was large enough for hundreds of people to be involved in the signing on 28th of June 1919. Germany had almost no say in what was put into the treaty but they had no choice but to sign it otherwise they would be invaded by the Allies. Along with the reduction of men, Germany was not allowed tanks, submarines or military aircraft and the navy could only have six battleships (Mr Hinds History; what were the main Terms of the Versailles Treaty 2016). This was created so that Germany would not have the force to declare war but still had the power to stop communism from getting into Western Europe. Another aspect to the Treaty of Versailles were the economic terms. These terms stated that Germany had to pay 6.6 billion dollars back to the allies. Germany was not able to pay this amount of money so they had to borrow money from nearby countries. This meant that Germany fell into huge amounts of debt and lost their title for second most economically advanced country in the world. There were two more important Terms for The Treaty of Versailles, they were the General terms and the territorial terms. There were three important general clauses to the treaty. The first was that Germany had to take all responsibility for the war, this was called the War Guilt Clause and it was the term that Germany was the most upset about. The second was that Germany had to pay for all war damages which was mostly to France and Belgium. The third was that a League of Nations was set up to keep world peace and Germany was not allowed to join. There were also the territorial terms of the treaty where Germany had to give up ... You should get someone that knows the rules of pitching. If you are pitching wrong than it can be called a bok. A bok is like a penalty. If you do it once you will get a warning. If you do it again, all the base runners will advance one base. That isn´t good. After you found a good stance, you need to work on gripping the ball a good way. When you have a good grip you need to start slow. Throw the ball a few times slow. When you start getting the hang of it go a little faster and faster until you throw at a good speed. There is a lot more to know about pitching. The pitcher is the 2nd strongest person on a baseball team. Pitching is really hard to do. I can pitch 70+ m/h. Usually people my age can pitch at 30+ m/h. What i did to pitch that fast is make a exercise chart. I did 50 push ups every hour from 8am to 8pm. Then i would bench lift 80 lbs 3 times a day. I would also work my legs. I would leg press 300 lbs!? But remember to keep your expectations low. I could barely pitch 20 m/h. Then i was sad. So i did the exercises. I made my goal. I was a lot happier.
