Diversity Judicial System Analysis
In this essay I will define what is judiciary and be discussing the statement that there is a strong case
for more diverse judiciary. Not only should there be equality of opportunity for those entitled to apply
. I will discuss about the judiciary that reflect the diversity and legal profession as whole, make
reference to the role of the judiciary, their selection, and training.
Judiciary is a system that interprets and execute the laws in the state, the role of the judiciary is to
supervise the conduct of a trial, sole arbiter of legal issues, has the power to deal with civil cases and
decide the result, interpret and clarify the law, has the right to deal with criminal cases and to sum up
to the jury and to pass sentence on those who plead guilty or have been convicted.
For many centuries the House of Lords was the supreme court of appeal for the entire UK in civil
cases and for England, Wales and Northern Ireland in criminal case. There are three types of legal
system in the United Kingdom and these are executive, government and legislature; one each for
England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. There was a time where Scotland, Ireland and later
Northern Ireland retained the Acts of Union in 1707 and 1800.
The justice system has state of three systems that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

What Are Employees Rights In The Workplace
Employees Rights in the Workplace With the rise of technology there arose a fear of surveillance.
However, George Orwell s 1984 passed us by without noticeable big brother control, and the national
concern over espionage diminished with the demise of the U.S.S.R. These past threats were concerns
over the use of technology by governments that had sufficient resources to use the technology for
sinister purposes. The new threat is not technology in the hands of government, it is technology alone.
What once required massive manpower, now requires merely a personal computer. Technology has
made the power to monitor others widely available, whether to governments, private enterprise or
individuals. This article discusses some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ECPA prohibits the interception by (1) unauthorized individuals or (2) individuals working for a
government entity, acting without a proper warrant. The ECPA is mostly concerned with the
unauthorized access by employees or corporate competitors trying to find out valuable information.
However, while there is no specific prohibition in the ECPA for an employer to monitor the e mail of
employees, the ECPA does not specifically exempt employers. The ECPA has several exceptions to the
application of the prohibition of interception of electronic communications. The three most relevant to
the workplace are (1) where one party consents, (2) where the provider of the communication service
can monitor communications, and (3) where the monitoring is done in the ordinary course of business.
The first exception, consent, can be implied or actual. Several courts have placed a fairly high
standard for establishing implied consent. For example one court held that knowledge of the capability
of monitoring alone cannot be considered implied consent. Accordingly, for an employer to ensure the
presence of actual consent, it should prepare, with advice of counsel, a carefully worded e mail Policy
Statement which explains the scope of employer monitoring. This Policy Statement should be signed
by the employees. One example of how this

Quantitative And Qualitative
With qualitative and quantitative most psychological researchers use both types of methods. In
particular, qualitative methods are widely used as exploratory methods; then the results of qualitative
analysis are used to design quantitative research. What is the difference between quantitative and
qualitative research? In this essay I will go into more detail on these two forms of research looking at
the definition, strengths, limitations and key features of each research method.
Qualitative research focuses on gathering of mainly verbal data rather than measurements. The
gathered information is then analyzed in an interpretative or subjective manner. The primary aim of a
qualitative research is to provide a complete, detailed description of the research topic. It is usually
more exploratory in nature.
Qualitative research is multi method in focus, involving an interpretive, ... Show more content on

This allows the researcher to find issues that are often missed (such as subtleties and complexities) by
the scientific, more positivistic enquiries. Qualitative descriptions can play the important role of
suggesting possible relationships, causes, effects and dynamic processes. Qualitative analysis allows
for ambiguities and also contradictions in the data, which is a reflection of social reality. Qualitative
research uses a descriptive, narrative style, this research might be of particular benefit to the
practitioner as she or he could turn to qualitative reports in order to examine forms of knowledge that
might otherwise be unavailable, thereby gaining new insight. Qualitative research see s people as
individuals, attempting to gather their subjective experience of an event. This can provide a unique
insider view of the research question through the qualitative approach, which is less structured than a
quantitative approach, unexpected results and insights, can

Dreams and Success in Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman...
Dreams and Success in Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman
In Arthur Miller s play, Death of a Salesman, Miller probes the dream of Willy Lowman while making
a statement about the dreams of American society. This essay will explore how each character of the
play contributes to Willy s dream, success, and failure.
Willy is the aging salesman whose imagination is much larger than his sales ability. Willy s wife,
Linda, stands by her husband even in his absence of realism. Biff and Happy follow in their father s
fallacy of life. Willy s brother, Ben is the only member of the Loman family with the clear vision
necessary to succeed. Charlie and his son Benard, on the other hand, enjoy better success in life
compared ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But in the beautiful, ironic complexity of her creation, she is also Willy s and their sons destroyer. In
her love Linda has accepted Willy s Greatness and his dream, but while in her admiration for Willy her
love is powerful and moving, in her admiration for his dreams, it is lethal. She encourages Willy s
dream, yet she will not let him leave her for the New Continent, the only realm where the dream can
be fulfilled. She want to reconcile father and son, but she attempts this in the context of Willy s false
values. She cannot allow her sons to achieve that selfhood that involves denial of these values
(Gordon p. 316). Linda is also caught up in Willy s lies and therefore does nothing but help fuel the
fire in the inferno of their dreams and ambitions. She lets this whole masquerade continue right in
front of her instead of doing something to stop their out of control lies.
Also, Biff the oldest son, continues to search for his purpose in life. Due mainly to all the hot air Willy
always feeds him, Biff continues to stumble in his fight for life. Biff has never had the ability to hold
down a job very long due to his inability to take orders and do his time in the trenches before
becoming a success at a particular job.
Richard J. Foster states, Biff, who in the play as an amplification or reflection of Willy s problems, has

Gender Dynamics Within Iran — Offside Film
The Gender Dynamics Within Iran Throughout the various texts and films we observed this semester,
there were a multitude of underlying themes associated with each. These themes do not live in a
textual or film related vacuum, but rather offer major implications on given Middle Eastern cultures.
In the fictional film Offside, directed by Jafar Panahi, he decides to zero in on the complex culture
within Iran. He illustrates the culture within Iran by employing the 2006 World Cup qualifying soccer
match between Iran and Bahrain as a metaphor of the various social dynamics attached to this sporting
event and the country as a whole. That said, there are numerous underlying themes associated with
this film. In this paper, however, I will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, the man on the minibus vehemently warns the girl about getting caught at the stadium
and tries to help her as he seems to be legitimately worried for her wellbeing. Also, the ticker scalper
fretfully asks the if she know[s] what they ll do if they catch [her]? (Panahi). This implies the public
perception of the military s enforcement of this law is extremely strict and violating it is very much
unsafe. However, the actions of the soldiers in their treatment of the girls suggests otherwise. At the
end of the movie, the girls and soldiers are celebrating with all the Iranian people in the streets after
the huge win, which provides the notion that these young women got off scot free. Perhaps Panahi is
symbolizing fear tactics practiced by the government in order to promote law abiding citizens. The
soldier who appears to be in the leadership position is greatly concerned with going on military leave
as he tells a girl, [he] should be on leave...it s [her] fault [he s] on duty here (Panahi). More than
detaining these girls, he is concerned with moving back to his village and taking care of his family.
The only reason he is detaining the girls is because [he] [has] responsibilities and [he ll] be punished if
he releases them (Panahi). There seems to be an evident discrepancy within the Iranian hierarchy as it
pertains to the legal policy prohibiting women from

The Literary Representation Of History
Le drame de l Afrique, c est que l homme africain n est pas assez entré dans l histoire. (SARKOZY).
Discuss the literary representation of history in relation to this controversial statement.
Considered as la parole officielle française la plus raciste depuis longtemps , Nicholas Sarkozy s 2007
speech in Dakar elicited widespread disapproval (Heams, 2007). In highlighting a binary opposition
between France and Africa; the progressive and the stagnant, Sarkozy reinforced a euro centric idea of
progress whilst criticising the inadequate insertion of l homme africain into history (Sarkozy, 2007). In
the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, Europeans similarly believed that Africa lacked a
collective historical consciousness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whilst the main body of the text serves to represent the history of the Baoulé people and their leader,
Queen Pokou; in constantly questioning and subverting the narrative, Tadjo constructs alternative
endings to the well known legend of the Ivory Coast (Ligaga, 2011: 488). One chapter that best
exemplifies the dual meaning of histoire is La Traversée de l Atlantique , where Tadjo rewrites the
original legend in the context of the transatlantic slave trade. Here, the use of language is emotive,
enabling Tadjo to stress the cruelty of the trade. For example, the use of metonymy when describing
the captives on their passage is unsettling (Cazenave and Célérité, 2011: 75 76). Corps contre corps,
ballottés par les vagues (Tadjo, 2005: 58). This dehumanises the slaves and parallels their worth with
that of commodities, as subalterns, corps . Similarly, the repetition of corps , elicits a disturbing image
of slaves, both alive and dead, in close proximity in the hold. In grounding this version of the narrative
in fact, Tadjo intensifies the emotional impact on the reader. We thus sympathise with the victims on
both a factual and fictional level. The use of three successive nouns, ils avaient perdu leur visage, leur
nom, leur lendemains , enables Tadjo to further illustrate the process of dehumanisation during the
journey across the Atlantic (Tadjo, 2005: 59). They

The Security Concerns That The Internet Of Things
This paper looks at the security concerns that the Internet of Things, or IOT carries along with it. The
Internet of Things is defined as a proposed development of the Internet in which everyday objects
have network connectivity, allowing them to send and receive data This increasing level of
connectivity and interconnectivity certainly makes everyday tasks easier for the average person, but at
the same time, it makes finding holes in security measures easier as well. The Internet of Things is
said to have been in the works in the 1990 s. In 1999, the term Internet of Things is created by Kevin
Ashton, the executive director of Auto ID. Auto ID is an academic research network pertaining to the
Internet of Things. The Internet of Things took a huge step with the use and introduction of RFID
(Radio Frequency IDentification). RFID really pushed the future of the Internet of Things, as it has a
direct relationship to what the Internet of Things is all about, the communication between devices and
objects. An example of this is an RFID tag being embedded in an intermodal container full of fruit,
and arriving/departing a specific port at a shipping depot. Once the container passes a designated
point, the time of arrival/departure, temperature in the container, days until expiration, and other key
information.
Although the Internet of Things is a great thing, it carries along many security and privacy concerns.

Highway 20 Essay
After crossing the street in Mount Pleasant, a woman, 71, died and her husband, 74 years old, had
been left injured. A vehicle struck them as they tried to cross the street on a Tuesday afternoon. The
accident occurred on Sunnyslope Drive at Highway 20. Before the accident, the couple had been
trying to reach the McDonald s that was across the highway. As a result of the accident, the woman
was killed on impact, and paramedics rushed the man by airlifting him to the local hospital. They
listed him as serious condition, but medical examiners expect that he will survive. Before the incident,
the last individuals who spoke to the pair were the people at a Racine Toyota car dealership. The
people at the dealership said that they did not realize the two planned to cross the intersection. They
said that if they had known of these of plans, the company would have given them a lift because they
had known that the intersection was dangerous. Linda Salinas, an employee at Toyota, stated that
everyone felt upset about the accident. It was terrible that it happened. Because the accident occurred,
the lanes of Sunnyslope Drive had been closed. At the scene, you could find some shoes and a jacket
left laying on the highway. In addition, a car with a smashed windshield sat around ominously. ...

Robert Louis Stevenson s Dr. Jekyll and Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
Both Robert Louis Stevenson s Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and Mary Shelley s Frankenstein tell
cautionary tales of scientists abusing their creative powers to exist in another sphere where they
cannot be directly blamed for their actions. Though Frankenstein s creation is a Creature distinct from
his creator while Dr. Jekyll metamorphoses into Mr. Hyde, the double of each protagonist
progressively grows more violent throughout his story. By doing so he symbolizes his creator s
repressed desires in a stifling society.
The stories have parallel structures in the three main ways. First, both Dr. Jekyll and Frankenstein are
scientists who, though welcomed by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jekyll s associations with demonic and insane imagery contrasts with the well polished society from
which he struggles to extricate himself. His self imposed isolation is the least harmful manner he uses
to show his displeasure with society.
Frankenstein similarly isolates himself. Under the guise of protecting his friends and fiancée from the
Creature that stalks him, the scientist decides to leave England instead of marrying: My journey had
been my own suggestion, and Elizabeth, therefore, acquiesced; but she was filled with disquiet at the
idea of my suffering, away from her, the inroads of misery and grief (149). However, Frankenstein
cannot muster the same emotion: I remembered only, and it was with a bitter anguish that I reflected
on it, to order that my chemical instruments should be packed to go with me (149). Frankenstein also
has a penchant for working alone; like Dr. Jekyll, he is emotionally detached from a society that
expects him to fulfill various obligations, and he accordingly responds with physical detachment.
Both Hyde and the Creature choose children for their first victims. According to an eyewitness, Hyde
trampled calmly over the child s body and left her screaming on the ground...He was perfectly cool
and made no resistance, but gave me one look, so ugly that it brought out the sweat on

Statement Of Purpose For Software Engineering
Statement of Purpose Choosing to learn software engineering was fortuitous for me when I had to

technologies related not only are very interesting but also have permeated into many fields. After
experiencing undergraduate education for four years and graduate education for less than one year, I

Brain Ischemia Essay
The blood brain barrier (BBB) is a metabolic and physical barrier between the central nervous system
and the brain blood flow (1). The correct functioning of the BBB is crucial for keeping brain
homeostasis and avoiding many poisons and pathogens (2). During cerebral ischemia, BBB disruption
is a crucial event that induces an influx of water, resulting in vasogenic edema (3), and causes
supplementary brain harm such as dementia through accumulation of beta amyloid peptide (4). Brain
edema aggravates the development of infarct development and causes herniation and loss of life (5). It
s been reported that reactive oxygen species (ROS) exert deleterious activities, such as BBB

Hodgkin Lymphoma
Researchers are still trying to understand the etiology of Hodgkin s lymphoma.1 Researchers have
identified certain risk factors that increase the chance of getting the disease. For example, infection
with the Epstein Barr virus (EBV) increases the risk of getting Hodgkin lymphoma; however, the
overall risk of getting Hodgkin s is still small even with a previous EBV infection. It is unclear what
role EBV plays in the development of Hodgkin s lymphoma since many people are infected with EBV
each year but very few actually develop Hodgkin s lymphoma. Moreover, one in three patients with
Hodgkin s have EBV in the malignant Reed Sternberg cells, which are the cancer cells involved in

Hodgkin s lymphoma has unique malignant mononucleated Hodgkin and multinucleated Reed
Stemberg cells or Hodgkin/Reed Stemberg [HRS] cells, which make up a small fraction of cells in
affected lymph nodes.4 These cells are embedded in an infiltrate of reactive hematopoietic cells. They
are composed of T and B lymphocytes, plasma cells, and eosinophils and are usually non malignant.
The malignant HRS cells do not contain a phenotype that can allow it to be assigned to a defined
hematopoietic cell type; therefore, their origin has been debated. HRS cells are mostly derived from
germinal center or post GC B cells and have lost the B cell specific gene expression program, unlike
other B cell derived lymphomas where the gene cell pattern shows the differentiation stage of the
origin. It is unclear how these cells survive since these types of cells usually undergo apoptotic cell
death. Additionally, there have been a number of molecular defects in HRS cells that have been
identified. These include activation of the transcription factors nuclear factor kapp B, members of the
STAT signaling pathway, activator protein 2, and deregulated NOTCH1 signaling.4 The deregulation
of these pathways is found in most HRS cells in nearly all cases of Hodgkin s lymphoma. This points
to the relevance of these pathways for HRS cell survival, regulation, and growth of HRS cell specific

My Family s Case Of John Greg And Michael
For our film focus, we chose to look at my uncle, John Greg, and his partner Michael and the relation
to same sex marriages and the white wedding. In our film, we ponder whether many same sex
weddings defy the traditional standards of an American wedding or if they conform to their own ideas.
In my family s case of John Greg and Michael, they conformed to many of their own concepts, while
choosing to keep many of the classic wedding traditions that have been circulating for decades. John
Greg and Michael present a fusion wedding, that stands out among many of the other same sex
weddings. Their wedding relates to our course material through Karen Dunak s book, As Long As We
Both Shall Love: Weddings In Postwar America, as she presents a chapter on same sex marriages. As
John Greg and Michael got married recently, their not only being gay, and the choice to marry was
completely accepted throughout my family. In addition, John Greg and Michael live in the fairly
liberal, New York City. Their story is considered atypical as every single member of the family
approved and supported them, honestly and truthfully. John Greg and Michael are considered typical
as they maintained many traditions that have been in the white wedding for ages, and tweaked many
elements to fit their own personalities and needs. John Greg and Michael intersect with the topic of the
white wedding, and same sex marriage. The white wedding is the long established American image of

Cultural Identity Divide
Culture can be defined as a belief that allows you to identify who you are. Thus, through cultre there is
self discovery and belonging in a group of persons who share the same belief system; who have found
themselves and are now seeking to digest more about one another through eachother s unearthing of
one s self. Culture assists you not only in identifying who you are, but the sort of people you can
surround yourself with due to common interests. In this society; I have witnessed cultural unity,
cultural identity crisis and moreover a cultural divide and surprisingly all of those fold under the same
umbrella in reagrds to knowing where you stand and those you choose to stand with. Currently,
society is a huge caste system of choices to be made, opinions to be had and decision making. Often,
many are questioned of whose side they are on awhile many don t have the opportunity to make that
decision for they are often placed in a caste based off of appearances. This generation of millenials
confuses the caste system with electronics being in the forefront of their upbringing; self discovery is
no longer going to a park and playing with kids of similar interests on the playground; but now finding
yourself is depicted by the amount of followers, likes and/ or views you possess. Moreover, society

Hydrocephalus Essay
Hydrocephalus
Definition
A condition affiliated with excessive fluid in the brain.
Causes, incidence, and risk factors
The fluid in the brain (cerebrospinal fluid or CSF) is formed in the brain. CSF usually circulates
through parts of the brain, its covering, and the spinal canal, and is then absorbed into the circulatory
system.
When the circulation or absorption of this fluid is blocked, or excessive fluid is produced, the volume
of fluid in the brain becomes higher than normal. The accumulation of fluid puts pressure on the brain
forcing it against the skull and damaging or destroying the tissues.
Symptoms vary depending on the cause of the obstruction to CSF circulation, the age at which the
problem develops, and the extent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hydrocephalus most often occurs in children, but may also occur in adults and the elderly.
Prevention
Protect the head of an infant/child from injury by handling the child carefully. Prompt treatment of
infections (such as meningitis) and other disorders associated with hydrocephalus may reduce the risk
of developing the disorder.
Symptoms
EARLY SYMPTOMS, IN INFANTS
* enlargement of the head (see increased head circumference)
* bulging fontanelles (soft spots of the head) with or without enlargement of the head size
* sutures separated
SYMPTOMS OF CONTINUED HYDROCEPHALUS
* irritability, poor temper control
* muscle spasticity (spasm
LATE SYMPTOMS
* decreased mental function
* delayed development
* decreased movement
* slow or restricted movement
* difficulty feeding
* lethargy, excessive sleepiness
* urinary incontinence (loss of control over bladder)
* brief, shrill, high pitched cry
* slow growth (child 0 5 years)
IN OLDER INFANTS AND CHILDREN
Symptoms vary depending on the amount of damage caused by pressure in the brain. Symptoms may
be similar to symptoms of progression of hydrocephalus in children, or may include the following or
other symptoms:
* headache
* vomiting
* vision changes
* crossed eyes
* uncontrolled eye movements
* loss of coordination
* poor gait (walking pattern)
* mental aberrations (such as confusion or psychosis)

The Chef With Jon Favreau
Top Dog and Underdog
Do you think you are having a hard month? Have you ever felt like the underdog and you aren t every
going to be on top? Then you should watch the movie The Chef with Jon Favreau. The Chef is a great
film about a Head Chef, who quits his high end restaurant job and buys a food truck to reclaim his
creative promise; while piecing back together his estranged family. It is strongly agreed with LA
Times writer Gary Goldstein whom stated, Warm, dimensional and intuitive, this Carl proves an ideal
combo of top dog and underdog as well as a thoroughly credible kitchen master. The Chef can be
highly recommended for many different reasons. One may say, for the famous A List cast members
like Sofia Vergara and Henry Winkler. Sofia Vergara is one of the main actors of Modern Family.
Henry Winkler is also, a known top actor from the 1970 s sitcom Happy Days. Another reason this
film maybe highly recommended is for its great scene locations. The Chef was filmed in many
different foods from the fancy restaurants to the Farmers Market; where the food is displayed in a way
that enhance four of your five human senses. Maybe The Chef can be recommended for the eye
catching landscapes locations from the streets of New Orlando to the beaches of Florida. However,
one may say the film is an overwhelming delightful watch, because it is Jon Favreau writing and
directing.

The bottom line for our team however, is to understand that the widespread practice of wasta in the
Middle East is assumed, it is a given. So we must learn the nuances of the practice and use it to our
advantage to be successful in our mission. That means finding the right Wasta to curry influence with
the particular elders you are working with. Originally based upon family loyalty, the family is still the
primary wasta channel, but that familial relationship has expanded to include friends and
acquaintances, as well as private agreements whereby services are provided in exchange for gifts or
specific fees. In the words of one observer, Today s wasta is too often a middle man, seeking fame and
fortune by doing favors. Our job is to find that Middle Man and enter into that relationship with our
eyes wide open, knowing it isn t going to be a cheap date, but that it will be worth the lives it will save
down the road. Incidentally, the IMF, World Bank and regional economic leaders consider the taming
or conversion of wasta as necessary to the MENA Region ultimately becoming an emerging market
leader and engine of world growth, its effect in the regional economy is that debilitating. So let s do
our part to keep it that way! Where s my Wasta!?! Here wasta wasta!

Human Relationship With Waterfowl
Humans have a very influential relation ship with waterfowl, theres two sides to it. On one side
humans have completely changed waterfowls natural migrating path. With the modern expansion of
cities, certain species have adapted and now use them as refuges, such as the Canada goose. Through
climate change humans have disrupted waterfowls natural patterns of migration, and most species are
un able to adapt quickly enough to the rapidly changing temperatures. The other side of humans
relationship with waterfowl is that through our modern agriculture practices waterfowl don t
necessarily need to migrate to get food, only to leave the cold. Most waterfowl species take advantage
of the surplus grain left in agriculture fields, some of which have became overpopulated and harm
other species of waterfowl. With the increase of agriculture fields, wetlands have been destroyed and
in tern waterfowl have lost a significant number of areas to breed and reproduce in. There is a
overpopulation of certain species and a decrease in wetlands, it is important to stop both of these
issues otherwise certain species will be taken over by. Hunters and bird watchers are those who are
primarily concerned with these issues, but other out doors mans such as fisherman should be
concerned. As shown in The Role of Waterfowl in Lower Great Lakes Aquatic Food Webs by M. L.
Schummer and S. A. Petrie, waterfowl play a important role in maintaining the food webs for fish. It is

The Benefits Of Public Libraries
As technology advances and progresses more, some people began to question the existence of public
libraries and what value they ll hold in the future. More devices are being produced that can replace
books, such as Kindles, Nooks, and other apps that can be downloaded on any portable electronic
device. These devices, however, can t replace all that libraries can offer. Public libraries will still be in
use and serve us in the future. These facilities still offer people internet access, services for children
and families, and access to reading materials. First, public libraries offer people access to the internet
and to computers. Many people believe the age of the Internet is what would shut down public
libraries. However, not everyone has internet in their homes and rely on places, like their local public
library, to provide internet and computer access. In an interview, Jorge said, Our study of library
computer users found that for 22 percent of library computer users (age 14 and older), that the library
was their only access to computers and the Internet (Source C). People still need public libraries to
work on school work, online things for their jobs, or even just to relax and play an online game. The
original purpose of libraries was not to offer internet, but libraries still serve a purpose and are in use.
Secondly, public libraries offer services and activities for kids and families. Aside from books and

The Perks Of Being A Wallflower Belonging
(w. 129)
The Perks of being a Wallflower, (Chbosky, 2012) uses classical narration as a canonical based
framework of events which adheres to the conventions of classical narration. Screen Media (2009)
outlines that canonical style of narration, is achieved by a three part structure. This organisation is
presented throughout the film, as viewers are introduced to the main character Charlie, (Logan
Lerman) and his mental health issues. This introduction foreshadows the premise of the plot and
overall motif creating a consistent theme where the middle section features a chain of events that
Charlie must overcome. A state of balance is achieved at the end of the movie acting as a form of
conclusion. Throughout this classical style of narrative viewers see established relationships between
characters, within a classical narration framework.

It is a term plastered across buildings and campus wide emails. Diversity is a word a majority of
students feel well and truly acquainted with, and for good reason. The standard answer I have received
when I ask students what diversity means to them relates to the coming together of different cultures.
The exercise of this understood definition is seen plainly on the campus of EKU. The encouragement
of diversity has encouraged me to experience other cultures in ways I would not have had
opportunities to otherwise. The exposure to the word itself, however, has challenged me to look
beyond the common understanding of the word. As an English major (with a literature concentration!)
I love words. I love to look up their meanings and see how many different ways those meanings can
be interpreted and applied to assorted situations. When I looked into the word diversity, I found that,
while most commonly applied to multiculturalism in various settings, it can be applied to countless
other aspects of life as well. Some of these areas, like diversity in foods, are also aspects of diversity
in cultures. In a way, one can lead to the other. For example, I was recently introduced to Indian food
while I was overseas. In my opinion, it is the best food ever. My appreciation for this culture s food
led to a desire to learn more about other aspects of this culture. On the other hand, I am a proud Greek.

Love In Love And The Relationshipful Aspects Of Love
Throughout life, many individuals are blessed in certain aspects of their lives. These aspects could be
in love, fortunes, or life itself. Although people may be grateful for what they have it is common that
they will take these great aspects for granted. When people take these important and blessed aspects of
their lives for granted it pisses me off. I have been fortunate enough to have a great life and I have
been blessed in many ways. I am always sure to appreciate the people, materials, and life I have.
Unfortunately, I have seen people take their lives for granted, so it is my goal to try and make these
individuals realize the amazing lives they are blessed with. Relationships types vary with everyone.
Some people cling to their significant other while some prefer the distance. At times it can be hard to
find that balance where both individuals are happy. This challenge in a relationship could lead to poor
communication and a lack of effort. Recently, I have stepped out of a four year relationship because I
had finally come to realize how much I was being taken for granted and not appreciated. I was always
the one to make plans or start the conversation or show the affection that kept the relationship for
granted. After I decided to end the relationship my significant other began to realize what he had lost.
He frequently made comments on how people do not realize what they have until it is gone and I
found this to be very true in his case. Although what he was saying

Caesarean Scar Defect Essay

In the recent decade, there was a significant increase in the rate of caesarean section delivery, either
because of closer fetal monitoring during labour or because of availing the technology to anticipate
antepartum and intrapartum complications. The most common cause of elective caesarean section is a
previous caesarean section (CS). As the number of women with the caesarean section is on the
increase, the implications of caesarean section scar defects (CSD) are looked into as cause for various
clinical symptoms both in obstetrics and gynaecology. Many studies were conducted on the

The studies were conducted both on pregnant and nonpregnant women. The scar defects were
evaluated based on shape, size, and thickness of residual myometrium. In an unscarred, the lower
uterine segment (LUS) is viewed as three layered structure. The inner layer includes chorioamniotic
membrane and endometrial layer. Middle layer includes myometrium, and outer layer includes
peritoneal reflection and bladder wall (Cheung 2004). As the pregnancy progress, the LUS develops
and the layers changes in sonographic resolution. Myometrium becomes thinner gradually and less
distinguished later on in the pregnancy. Whereas in as scarred uterus different layers are not well
demarcated, the LUS is comparatively thin. It is considered as scar defect if there is a window or
defect in the myometrium. The CS scar was measured in two planes, transverse and sagittal. In the
sagittal plane, scar depth, width and residual myometrial thickness (RMT, between hypoechoic
indentation at the bottom of the scar to the hyperechoic line of the uterovesical fold) measured and the
length of the scar measured in the transverse plane (Naji 2012).
Gotoh H et al. (2000) have assessed the changes in LUS thickness from 19weeks to 39 weeks in
women with previous caesarean delivery (caesarean group) and compared with the LUS thickness in
nulliparous and multiparous women (control group). Serial measurements of the thickness of LUS

Shakespeare And Kingship Essay
Shakespeare And Kingship
In writing his history plays, Shakespeare was actually commenting on what he thought about the
notion of kingship. Through his plays, he questions the divine right of kings, which the kings and the
aristocracy used heavily in their favour to win the people s love. In Macbeth, King Richard II and
King Henry IV part 1, Shakespeare shows us his opinion of kingship in general.
Although the plays are written about individual kings, I think that Shakespeare used the plays as an
opportunity to voice his opinion on kings and kingship in general. This was assisted by the fact that he
was not prohibited by the true events, because it is well known that all of Shakespeare s plays were
written purely for entertainment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means that he is liked by the common people, but his behaviour, particularly the robbery which
he is involved in, in Act 1, scene 1, is not what is expected from son of God s representative.
According to the theory of the divine right of kings, Hal should have been almost as divine and perfect
as the king himself, but Shakespeare shows us that this was not the case and again questions the notion
of the divine right of kings through Hal s actions.
[I] See riot and disorder stain the brow
Of my young Harry
Through his plays, Shakespeare also shows that he is disgruntled by the way in which the kings treat
the common people, by writing the plays so that the kings always appear selfish and as if they
disregard the people. In Macbeth, Shakespeare shows the comparison between Duncan, a king who
treated people well and was respected for it, against Macbeth, a fallen hero , who after hearing the
prophesies of the witches succumbed to his driving ambition. Duncan listened to the people and was
widely respected, whereas Macbeth ignored the people, and associated only with his noble friends.
Macbeth thought that he was assured the kingship and so he thought that there was no need to listen or
respect the common people in the least. It was because of the witches prophecies that Macbeth became
king, and it was the prophesies which brought his downfall Macbeth felt assured

Relationship Between Language And Symbol
The definition of a symbol according to Merriam Webster Dictionary is something that stands for
something else by reason of relationship or association; and can either be letters, pictures, an action,
object or event. Symbols are not restricted to pictures or objects, but can include gestures as well as
words. Symbol use is necessarily not just for infants, but adults as well and is crucial to the way
humans think. Not only does something such as a map serve as a symbol but words such as wedding
ring can also be seen as a symbol. Therefore, it is clear that language and symbols go hand in hand.
The question that arises then is the affect of these two on learning in young children. Many studies
have been conducted studying the relationship and affect between language and symbol use in infants.
It is understood that linguistic and symbolic abilities overlap , but language is far more complex than
learning symbols. (Namy, Waxman, 1998) When infants are first learning words, they connect the
words they re being exposed to, to the objects around them. Therefore, early word acquisition focuses
on the symbolic nature of words. (Namy, Waxman, 1998) This study more specifically focuses on how
infants distinguish between words and other symbols and how this relationship changes with
development. A more recent study proposed that, early word acquisition is a function of a general
symbolic ability, suggesting that infants learn words and symbols with the same ability at the

The Song Of Myself By Walt Whitman And Howl
Both Song of Myself by Walt Whitman and Howl by Allen Ginsberg are important pieces of American
poetry. Song of Myself was written in the 1850 s and Howl was written about a century later. Both
poets were part of groups that wanted to change America the Transcendentalists and the Beats.
Transcendentalists believed in the goodness of people and nature. They believe that people are at their
best when they are truly independent. The Beats rejected standard values and materialism. They
experimented with drugs and sexuality. Both movements tended to portray the wilderness as heavenly,
while thinking that human nightlife was too showy. Both of these groups were fully American literary
movements. Both poets mention nature in the poems. Both poets write about their reactions to the
politics of their time. The poems were rebellions against the commonalities of their cultures. Whitman
and Ginsberg both believed in democracy. They both protested against industrialization and tradition.
Both poets wrote in dangerous times. They wanted to take a stand against what they thought was
wrong with the world. They both wanted to take on the burden of being true to what America is really
supposed to be. Both poets were gay. Also, both poets were very young at the time that they wrote
these poems. Ginsberg was greatly influenced by Whitman when writing Howl . While writing, he

real cause of the strange behaviors? . The only thing that is certain is that it was not witchcraft. Even
though the reasons behind the strange behaviors is unknown, there are many theories. One of them is
the ergot poisoning theory. Ergot poisoning (also known as ergotism) comes from a fungus called
Claviceps purpurea. This harmful fungus often sprouts up around grains such as rye; and a lot of bread
is made from rye or wheat. Since bread was eaten a lot in Salem Massachusetts, this philosophy does
have some valid points. The symptoms of ergot poisoning match what the supposed victims of
witchcraft had as well; creating another supporting point to this theory. However, this philosophy also
has some questionable considerations as well such as the fact that animals used for meat could have
given the people alkoid poisoning from eating the fungus or the grains that it touched; or the fact some
scientists also say that the people of Salem Massachusetts were too healthy to have a

Peer Leadership Final: Section Two
1. The Retreat This was one of the best experiences that I had all year. I loved just about every part of
it. Going into the retreat, I was nervous. I worried about the school that I was missing, if I had packed
enough, if I was going to like the food, if I was going to feel a part of the group, etc. But I faced it
head on and had an absolutely incredible experience. Firstly, I really enjoyed not having phones. It
was weird for me to not be able to reach into my pocket to check the time or to check up on what was
happening back in Burlington. It allowed to to really cherish the moment and focus on spending my
time with the nineteen other people that I was with. Each activity that we did on the retreat was a ton
of fun and equally valuable for me, but I will highlight just my favorites. One of the things that I loved
most from the retreat was the one on one talks. I am someone who doesn t tend to be great at sitting
down with someone and really getting to know them and having deep conversation with them. When I
did so, I loved it more than words could speak. I am a rather intellectual and thoughtful person, but I
don t tend to share those thoughts. I talked with Lindsey, Cal, Nylah, and Jon Michael. Those
conversations were and still are so special to me. I wish that we had continued to have those randomly
assigned deep talks throughout the year, as they helped me to validate my feelings and to really
connect with individual peer

Things Fall Apart Analytical Essay
A Christian Missionary is a person who is called by God to preach his word. Their job is to spread to
everyone. Mr. Brown is a more effective Christian Missionary than Reverend Smith. Mr. Brown is
willing to make an effort to understand Igbo s beliefs. He didn t try to tell them what they believed in
was wrong. Mr. Brown made the people of Umuofia have a feeling of growth again. He told them that
everything was possible. (Things Fall Apart 178) He didn t come in trying to tell the people of
Umuofia what to do; his first impression was easy going. By him being so generous it earned him a lot
of respect from the clan. Ross W. Sanderson argues, that Professor Patterson stated in his very
interesting discussion of the relation of the pleasure and pain economies says: Christ is not the God of
war and hate, but the God of peace and love. (Unapologetic Christianity 34) Being hateful doesn t get
you anywhere in life. The Umuofia people respected Mr. Brown so much that they presented him with
a carved elephant tusk, which was a sign of dignity and rank. (Things Fall Apart 179) Mr. Brown was

Abortion.
The tittle of the article I will be analyzing is republicans seek to put abortion on the front burner in
2016 . The article was published in U.S. News and World Report, written by Tierney Sneed. Abortion
is a never ending debate, it is one of the most common medical procedures performed in the United
States each year. Abortion is also one of the most debated topics of all time, it is a never ending debate
of whether it should be legal for women to terminate pregnancy. Some people are against abortion
while others are for it. people that are against abortion also known as pro life believe that women
should not have an abortion because it would be considered murder, ... Show more content on

While Americans long have been split on the general question of abortion though a majority do
believe it should be legal in at least some circumstances, a number of polls show that a majority of
voters oppose abortion after 20 weeks (Sneed). The republicans have proposed a bill that bans
abortion after twenty weeks, if a person were to have an abortion after this time period it will be
considered illegal and there will be consequences. If a woman was raped and got pregnant if she does
not wish to have the child according to the new law being proposed, that said woman has to report the
rape to the police and then she can proceed with the abortion. As stated by the article, Abortion rights
supporters counter with polling that shows voters are more supportive of abortions after 20 weeks in
cases of fetal abnormalities (Sneed). In some extreme cases a few people believe that abortion should
be allowed after the twenty week time period has passed, for instance in situations where it s not safe
for the fetus and or the mother to continue with the pregnancy, or if the baby will have some sort of
birth defects. All republican presidential candidates and those considering to join the presidential
candidate race are all supporting the twenty week abortion ban. Americans have been clear that they
do not want politicians to interfere with their health care decisions. Meanwhile

Review Of Battle Hymns Of The Tiger Mother By Dr....
One of the many arduous decisions parents face is how to raise their children. Over time, renowned
thinkers the world over have identified and coined different distinct styles of parenting and their
outcomes. Diana Baumrind is credited for her three styles of parenting: permissive, authoritarian, and
authoritative. Amy Chua first identified a particular style of parenting characterized by strict
regulations known as Tiger Parenting in her book Battle Hymns of the Tiger Mother . In contrast, free
range parenting, popularized by Dr. Benjamin Spock, takes a laissez faire approach. Good Morning
Today took a look at three distinct styles of parenting from the eyes of three successful children, to
help see things from a different perspective.
The first style of parenting mentioned is known as Tiger Parenting . First coined by Yale law professor
Amy Chua, the style has become a common household name. Strict regimen parents who prioritize
academic success and scholastic achievements are characteristic of this style. Furthermore, high
academic expectations and few freedoms typically await the child. Shanny Lee recounts her
experience on being raised under a tiger mom. She recalls having to practice math problems at age
five immediately after school. In her mother s eyes, nothing below a B grade would be acceptable and
she recalls feeling scared to come home with a lower grade. From this we can see that an extremely
high standard was set at a young age. Although this made her

Skin Colorism In America
Skin color in America is a precursor to how minorities are treated. This concept of what is considered
acceptable depicted by what is considered the white norm. Colorism affects all minorities, but at
different degrees. Women in minority communities are affected more harshly than men when it comes
to this construct. Colonization and slavery have created disadvantage were the wellbeing of individual
s lives are beyond their control.
White colorism is something to be acknowledged. Colorism is a part of racism and without addressing
the issue, individuals underestimate the impact of racism. Persons during that era who displayed more
European identities were treated better than those of pure African descent.

Essay about Analysis of Initiatives of Healthcare Reform
Over the last 5 10 years the healthcare system has begun reformation to increase safety, efficiency,
cost reduction, increasing continuum of care, and increases in information technology (IT). There are
many influences that are creating this need for change including laws, regulations, and the consumers
of the healthcare system. The consumer is beginning to take charge of their health and become an
advocate of their healthcare needs and plans of action. This transformation has created a greater need
for the healthcare system to increase the use of health management information system (HMIS).
HMIS is meant to help all departments within a healthcare organization, such as a hospital, to
communicate easier creating a better care experience ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Challenges Associated with each Initiative Even the most well planned out strategy will have
challenges that are associated with them. This statement is true for each initiative occurring in the
healthcare system. One of the problems faced when changing a system or adding to a system is
resistance by the end users. This resistance can come from any level, including the leadership. This
creates a need to make the leadership understand the reasons for the change and allow them to become
a part of the change, allowing them to buy in. This buy in from leadership will help the employees to
understand the reasons for the change. This will help to reduce resistance, but not completely get rid
of it. This challenge will be seen by each of these initiatives; however, each of the initiatives will
come with their own challenges. One way to overcome the challenge of resistance is to get the buy in
from the leadership positions. First, the organization must have a Chief Information Officer (CIO) that
has built up three important traits trustworthiness, effective communication, and be inspirational (Tan
Payton, 2010). With these traits the CIO can allow the leadership team to understand the change, know
why they are occurring, and finally feel like they are part of the solution. This creates a buy in of the

Analysis Of The Freedom Riders
Nearly a century after the civil war ended, African Americans continued to encounter discrimination,
racism, inequality, and segregation. Because of their skin color, they were labeled as second class
citizens. They decided to take actions into their own hands and fight against segregation and attain
equal civil liberties. They have faced countless battles, setbacks and enormous resistance. Activists
from all around the country, with all types of backgrounds joined in on the fight against racial
injustice. Their main strategy emphasized passive resistance and nonviolence. On May 4th, 1961,
thirteen brave individuals set out on a mission to start a national movement to overturn segregation in
the south. Under the leadership of Congress of Racial Equality, seven African Americans and six
whites traveled together on two commercial buses, the Greyhound and the Trailways. They called
themselves The Freedom Riders. They intended to travel from Washington DC to New Orleans,
Louisiana together. On the way, they would deliberately violated Jim Crow laws. The Freedom Riders
risked being assaulted, arrested, and even killed. Many other civil rights activists opposed their plan
because they felt the idea was too confrontational and dangerous, and could possibly result in a
setback for the civil rights movement. Despite the risks and opposition, the Freedom Riders did not
abort their mission. The activists were tired of waiting, therefore they decided that they are not going

Alberta, Canad A Short Story
It s December 17, 2002 ,5:46pm in Alberta, Canada there s a bitter burning smell in the air as I return
home to my mother. The long drive gives me time to think about the argument we had this morning
and I m full of regret of all the hurtful things we said. All because I didn t want to discuss my father s
passing 4 years ago. As I approach our dreadfully long driveway, I see smoke black as night in the
distance, them red and blue flashing lights with police tape blocking off our red colonial home. I rush
out of my car leaving my car on and begin to feel numb. I fall to the ground as an officer tries to catch
me, but misses and I hit the gray gravel in my driveway. With the assistance of the officer closest to be

put out the few other buildings and we had accomplished the mission at hand. Afterwards Jim and I

for going inside the building and helping me save the girl inside, JIm then explained to me that he

Mobile Versions Of The Mobile
version isn t perfect, but is definitely better than the mobile phone version. There is a lot more
information on the desktop version than the mobile. The mobile version only has two images on the
slide instead of four. The mobile version also only has three categories to choose from instead of six.
The user is also unable to access their account on the mobile version. Most mobile versions have a
link at the bottom of the desktop or full site version but it does not work. The full site version link just
opens up another tab that contains the mobile version and not the desktop version like it is supposed
to. The desktop version is the best option out of the two when looking for all of the information. The
site is pretty easily navigated the user can pick a category and see all of the other categories within the
category with ease. The only problem is the words, besides the main categories, are very tiny. If a user
has bad eyesight, it could be very hard for them to see the sub categories or some of the other links on
the websites. Even someone with good eyesight still has to squint in order to read the words correctly.
In order to make the site better they should make the words bigger and if it being too crowded is the
issue they should readjust the sub categories in order for there to be fewer and make them bigger in
order to read them more easily. There is a text size button that helps to increase the size of the text but
not by much and it does make it look more crowded.

  • 2. Diversity Judicial System Analysis In this essay I will define what is judiciary and be discussing the statement that there is a strong case for more diverse judiciary. Not only should there be equality of opportunity for those entitled to apply . I will discuss about the judiciary that reflect the diversity and legal profession as whole, make reference to the role of the judiciary, their selection, and training. Judiciary is a system that interprets and execute the laws in the state, the role of the judiciary is to supervise the conduct of a trial, sole arbiter of legal issues, has the power to deal with civil cases and decide the result, interpret and clarify the law, has the right to deal with criminal cases and to sum up to the jury and to pass sentence on those who plead guilty or have been convicted. For many centuries the House of Lords was the supreme court of appeal for the entire UK in civil cases and for England, Wales and Northern Ireland in criminal case. There are three types of legal system in the United Kingdom and these are executive, government and legislature; one each for England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. There was a time where Scotland, Ireland and later Northern Ireland retained the Acts of Union in 1707 and 1800. The justice system has state of three systems that ... However, George Orwell s 1984 passed us by without noticeable big brother control, and the national concern over espionage diminished with the demise of the U.S.S.R. These past threats were concerns over the use of technology by governments that had sufficient resources to use the technology for sinister purposes. The new threat is not technology in the hands of government, it is technology alone. What once required massive manpower, now requires merely a personal computer. The ECPA prohibits the interception by (1) unauthorized individuals or (2) individuals working for a government entity, acting without a proper warrant. The ECPA is mostly concerned with the unauthorized access by employees or corporate competitors trying to find out valuable information. However, while there is no specific prohibition in the ECPA for an employer to monitor the e mail of employees, the ECPA does not specifically exempt employers. The ECPA has several exceptions to the application of the prohibition of interception of electronic communications. The three most relevant to the workplace are (1) where one party consents, (2) where the provider of the communication service can monitor communications, and (3) where the monitoring is done in the ordinary course of business. The first exception, consent, can be implied or actual. Several courts have placed a fairly high standard for establishing implied consent. For example one court held that knowledge of the capability of monitoring alone cannot be considered implied consent. Accordingly, for an employer to ensure the presence of actual consent, it should prepare, with advice of counsel, a carefully worded e mail Policy Statement which explains the scope of employer monitoring. This Policy Statement should be signed by the employees. One example of how this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Quantitative And Qualitative With qualitative and quantitative most psychological researchers use both types of methods. In particular, qualitative methods are widely used as exploratory methods; then the results of qualitative analysis are used to design quantitative research. What is the difference between quantitative and qualitative research? In this essay I will go into more detail on these two forms of research looking at the definition, strengths, limitations and key features of each research method. Qualitative research focuses on gathering of mainly verbal data rather than measurements. The gathered information is then analyzed in an interpretative or subjective manner. The primary aim of a qualitative research is to provide a complete, detailed description of the research topic. It is usually more exploratory in nature. Qualitative research is multi method in focus, involving an interpretive, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Qualitative research uses a descriptive, narrative style, this research might be of particular benefit to the practitioner as she or he could turn to qualitative reports in order to examine forms of knowledge that might otherwise be unavailable, thereby gaining new insight. Dreams and Success in Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman In Arthur Miller s play, Death of a Salesman, Miller probes the dream of Willy Lowman while making a statement about the dreams of American society. This essay will explore how each character of the play contributes to Willy s dream, success, and failure. Willy is the aging salesman whose imagination is much larger than his sales ability. Willy s wife, Linda, stands by her husband even in his absence of realism. Biff and Happy follow in their father s fallacy of life. Willy s brother, Ben is the only member of the Loman family with the clear vision necessary to succeed. Charlie and his son Benard, on the other hand, enjoy better success in life compared ... In her love Linda has accepted Willy s Greatness and his dream, but while in her admiration for Willy her love is powerful and moving, in her admiration for his dreams, it is lethal. She encourages Willy s dream, yet she will not let him leave her for the New Continent, the only realm where the dream can be fulfilled. She want to reconcile father and son, but she attempts this in the context of Willy s false values. She cannot allow her sons to achieve that selfhood that involves denial of these values (Gordon p. 316). Linda is also caught up in Willy s lies and therefore does nothing but help fuel the fire in the inferno of their dreams and ambitions. She lets this whole masquerade continue right in front of her instead of doing something to stop their out of control lies. Also, Biff the oldest son, continues to search for his purpose in life. Due mainly to all the hot air Willy always feeds him, Biff continues to stumble in his fight for life. Biff has never had the ability to hold down a job very long due to his inability to take orders and do his time in the trenches before becoming a success at a particular job. Richard J. Gender Dynamics Within Iran — Offside Film The Gender Dynamics Within Iran Throughout the various texts and films we observed this semester, there were a multitude of underlying themes associated with each. These themes do not live in a textual or film related vacuum, but rather offer major implications on given Middle Eastern cultures. In the fictional film Offside, directed by Jafar Panahi, he decides to zero in on the complex culture within Iran. He illustrates the culture within Iran by employing the 2006 World Cup qualifying soccer match between Iran and Bahrain as a metaphor of the various social dynamics attached to this sporting event and the country as a whole. That said, there are numerous underlying themes associated with this film. In this paper, however, I will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also, the ticker scalper fretfully asks the if she know[s] what they ll do if they catch [her]? (Panahi). This implies the public perception of the military s enforcement of this law is extremely strict and violating it is very much unsafe. However, the actions of the soldiers in their treatment of the girls suggests otherwise. At the end of the movie, the girls and soldiers are celebrating with all the Iranian people in the streets after the huge win, which provides the notion that these young women got off scot free. Perhaps Panahi is symbolizing fear tactics practiced by the government in order to promote law abiding citizens. The soldier who appears to be in the leadership position is greatly concerned with going on military leave as he tells a girl, [he] should be on leave...it s [her] fault [he s] on duty here (Panahi). More than detaining these girls, he is concerned with moving back to his village and taking care of his family. The only reason he is detaining the girls is because [he] [has] responsibilities and [he ll] be punished if he releases them (Panahi). Discuss the literary representation of history in relation to this controversial statement. Considered as la parole officielle française la plus raciste depuis longtemps , Nicholas Sarkozy s 2007 speech in Dakar elicited widespread disapproval (Heams, 2007). In highlighting a binary opposition between France and Africa; the progressive and the stagnant, Sarkozy reinforced a euro centric idea of progress whilst criticising the inadequate insertion of l homme africain into history (Sarkozy, 2007). Whilst the main body of the text serves to represent the history of the Baoulé people and their leader, Queen Pokou; in constantly questioning and subverting the narrative, Tadjo constructs alternative endings to the well known legend of the Ivory Coast (Ligaga, 2011: 488). One chapter that best exemplifies the dual meaning of histoire is La Traversée de l Atlantique , where Tadjo rewrites the original legend in the context of the transatlantic slave trade. Here, the use of language is emotive, enabling Tadjo to stress the cruelty of the trade. For example, the use of metonymy when describing the captives on their passage is unsettling (Cazenave and Célérité, 2011: 75 76). Corps contre corps, ballottés par les vagues (Tadjo, 2005: 58). This dehumanises the slaves and parallels their worth with that of commodities, as subalterns, corps . Similarly, the repetition of corps , elicits a disturbing image of slaves, both alive and dead, in close proximity in the hold. In grounding this version of the narrative in fact, Tadjo intensifies the emotional impact on the reader. We thus sympathise with the victims on both a factual and fictional level. The use of three successive nouns, ils avaient perdu leur visage, leur nom, leur lendemains , enables Tadjo to further illustrate the process of dehumanisation during the journey across the Atlantic (Tadjo, 2005: 59). • 8. The Security Concerns That The Internet Of Things This paper looks at the security concerns that the Internet of Things, or IOT carries along with it. The Internet of Things is defined as a proposed development of the Internet in which everyday objects have network connectivity, allowing them to send and receive data This increasing level of connectivity and interconnectivity certainly makes everyday tasks easier for the average person, but at the same time, it makes finding holes in security measures easier as well. The Internet of Things is said to have been in the works in the 1990 s. In 1999, the term Internet of Things is created by Kevin Ashton, the executive director of Auto ID. Auto ID is an academic research network pertaining to the Internet of Things. The Internet of Things took a huge step with the use and introduction of RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification). RFID really pushed the future of the Internet of Things, as it has a direct relationship to what the Internet of Things is all about, the communication between devices and objects. An example of this is an RFID tag being embedded in an intermodal container full of fruit, and arriving/departing a specific port at a shipping depot. Once the container passes a designated point, the time of arrival/departure, temperature in the container, days until expiration, and other key information. Although the Internet of Things is a great thing, it carries along many security and privacy concerns. Trend Micro, an IT Security Company, breaks down each layer of ... They are composed of T and B lymphocytes, plasma cells, and eosinophils and are usually non malignant. The malignant HRS cells do not contain a phenotype that can allow it to be assigned to a defined hematopoietic cell type; therefore, their origin has been debated. HRS cells are mostly derived from germinal center or post GC B cells and have lost the B cell specific gene expression program, unlike other B cell derived lymphomas where the gene cell pattern shows the differentiation stage of the origin. It is unclear how these cells survive since these types of cells usually undergo apoptotic cell death. Additionally, there have been a number of molecular defects in HRS cells that have been identified. These include activation of the transcription factors nuclear factor kapp B, members of the STAT signaling pathway, activator protein 2, and deregulated NOTCH1 signaling.4 The deregulation of these pathways is found in most HRS cells in nearly all cases of Hodgkin s lymphoma. Then you should watch the movie The Chef with Jon Favreau. The Chef is a great film about a Head Chef, who quits his high end restaurant job and buys a food truck to reclaim his creative promise; while piecing back together his estranged family. It is strongly agreed with LA Times writer Gary Goldstein whom stated, Warm, dimensional and intuitive, this Carl proves an ideal combo of top dog and underdog as well as a thoroughly credible kitchen master. The Chef can be highly recommended for many different reasons. One may say, for the famous A List cast members like Sofia Vergara and Henry Winkler. Sofia Vergara is one of the main actors of Modern Family. Henry Winkler is also, a known top actor from the 1970 s sitcom Happy Days. Another reason this film maybe highly recommended is for its great scene locations. The Chef was filmed in many different foods from the fancy restaurants to the Farmers Market; where the food is displayed in a way that enhance four of your five human senses. Maybe The Chef can be recommended for the eye catching landscapes locations from the streets of New Orlando to the beaches of Florida. However, one may say the film is an overwhelming delightful watch, because it is Jon Favreau writing and directing. Originally based upon family loyalty, the family is still the primary wasta channel, but that familial relationship has expanded to include friends and acquaintances, as well as private agreements whereby services are provided in exchange for gifts or specific fees. • 25. Human Relationship With Waterfowl Humans have a very influential relation ship with waterfowl, theres two sides to it. On one side humans have completely changed waterfowls natural migrating path. With the modern expansion of cities, certain species have adapted and now use them as refuges, such as the Canada goose. Through climate change humans have disrupted waterfowls natural patterns of migration, and most species are un able to adapt quickly enough to the rapidly changing temperatures. The other side of humans relationship with waterfowl is that through our modern agriculture practices waterfowl don t necessarily need to migrate to get food, only to leave the cold. Most waterfowl species take advantage of the surplus grain left in agriculture fields, some of which have became overpopulated and harm other species of waterfowl. With the increase of agriculture fields, wetlands have been destroyed and in tern waterfowl have lost a significant number of areas to breed and reproduce in. There is a overpopulation of certain species and a decrease in wetlands, it is important to stop both of these issues otherwise certain species will be taken over by. Hunters and bird watchers are those who are primarily concerned with these issues, but other out doors mans such as fisherman should be concerned. The exercise of this understood definition is seen plainly on the campus of EKU. The encouragement of diversity has encouraged me to experience other cultures in ways I would not have had opportunities to otherwise. The exposure to the word itself, however, has challenged me to look beyond the common understanding of the word. As an English major (with a literature concentration!) I love words. • 37. Relationship Between Language And Symbol The definition of a symbol according to Merriam Webster Dictionary is something that stands for something else by reason of relationship or association; and can either be letters, pictures, an action, object or event. Symbols are not restricted to pictures or objects, but can include gestures as well as words. Symbol use is necessarily not just for infants, but adults as well and is crucial to the way humans think. Not only does something such as a map serve as a symbol but words such as wedding ring can also be seen as a symbol. Therefore, it is clear that language and symbols go hand in hand. The question that arises then is the affect of these two on learning in young children. Many studies have been conducted studying the relationship and affect between language and symbol use in infants. It is understood that linguistic and symbolic abilities overlap , but language is far more complex than learning symbols. (Namy, Waxman, 1998) When infants are first learning words, they connect the words they re being exposed to, to the objects around them. Therefore, early word acquisition focuses on the symbolic nature of words. (Namy, Waxman, 1998) This study more specifically focuses on how infants distinguish between words and other symbols and how this relationship changes with development. A more recent study proposed that, early word acquisition is a function of a general symbolic ability, suggesting that infants learn words and symbols with the same ability at the ... Salem Witch Theory Of Ergotism In 1692, people started doing strange behaviors such as convulsing uncontrollably, or crying in fear from a terrifying hallucination such as something dark and scary in their chimney. Due to the lack of medical knowledge at that time, the citizens automatically assumed it was witchcraft and out of panic, the Salem Witch Trials began. However, with advanced medical scientific experts around today, the theory that actual witchcraft was a thing has been dropped. What remains a mystery is What was the real cause of the strange behaviors? . The only thing that is certain is that it was not witchcraft. Even though the reasons behind the strange behaviors is unknown, there are many theories. One of them is the ergot poisoning theory. Ergot poisoning (also known as ergotism) comes from a fungus called Claviceps purpurea. This harmful fungus often sprouts up around grains such as rye; and a lot of bread is made from rye or wheat. Since bread was eaten a lot in Salem Massachusetts, this philosophy does have some valid points. The symptoms of ergot poisoning match what the supposed victims of witchcraft had as well; creating another supporting point to this theory. However, this philosophy also has some questionable considerations as well such as the fact that animals used for meat could have given the people alkoid poisoning from eating the fungus or the grains that it touched; or the fact some scientists also say that the people of Salem Massachusetts were too healthy to have a ... The republicans have proposed a bill that bans abortion after twenty weeks, if a person were to have an abortion after this time period it will be considered illegal and there will be consequences. If a woman was raped and got pregnant if she does not wish to have the child according to the new law being proposed, that said woman has to report the rape to the police and then she can proceed with the abortion. As stated by the article, Abortion rights supporters counter with polling that shows voters are more supportive of abortions after 20 weeks in cases of fetal abnormalities (Sneed). • 44. Review Of Battle Hymns Of The Tiger Mother By Dr.... One of the many arduous decisions parents face is how to raise their children. Over time, renowned thinkers the world over have identified and coined different distinct styles of parenting and their outcomes. Diana Baumrind is credited for her three styles of parenting: permissive, authoritarian, and authoritative. Amy Chua first identified a particular style of parenting characterized by strict regulations known as Tiger Parenting in her book Battle Hymns of the Tiger Mother . In contrast, free range parenting, popularized by Dr. Benjamin Spock, takes a laissez faire approach. The first style of parenting mentioned is known as Tiger Parenting . First coined by Yale law professor Amy Chua, the style has become a common household name. Strict regimen parents who prioritize academic success and scholastic achievements are characteristic of this style. Furthermore, high academic expectations and few freedoms typically await the child. Shanny Lee recounts her experience on being raised under a tiger mom. She recalls having to practice math problems at age five immediately after school. In her mother s eyes, nothing below a B grade would be acceptable and she recalls feeling scared to come home with a lower grade. Challenges Associated with each Initiative Even the most well planned out strategy will have challenges that are associated with them. This statement is true for each initiative occurring in the healthcare system. One of the problems faced when changing a system or adding to a system is resistance by the end users. This resistance can come from any level, including the leadership. This creates a need to make the leadership understand the reasons for the change and allow them to become a part of the change, allowing them to buy in. This buy in from leadership will help the employees to understand the reasons for the change. This will help to reduce resistance, but not completely get rid of it. This challenge will be seen by each of these initiatives; however, each of the initiatives will come with their own challenges. One way to overcome the challenge of resistance is to get the buy in from the leadership positions. First, the organization must have a Chief Information Officer (CIO) that has built up three important traits trustworthiness, effective communication, and be inspirational (Tan Payton, 2010). With these traits the CIO can allow the leadership team to understand the change, know why they are occurring, and finally feel like they are part of the solution. This creates a buy in of the ... • 48. Analysis Of The Freedom Riders Nearly a century after the civil war ended, African Americans continued to encounter discrimination, racism, inequality, and segregation. Because of their skin color, they were labeled as second class citizens. They decided to take actions into their own hands and fight against segregation and attain equal civil liberties. They have faced countless battles, setbacks and enormous resistance. Activists from all around the country, with all types of backgrounds joined in on the fight against racial injustice. Their main strategy emphasized passive resistance and nonviolence. On May 4th, 1961, thirteen brave individuals set out on a mission to start a national movement to overturn segregation in the south. Under the leadership of Congress of Racial Equality, seven African Americans and six whites traveled together on two commercial buses, the Greyhound and the Trailways. They called themselves The Freedom Riders. They intended to travel from Washington DC to New Orleans, Louisiana together. On the way, they would deliberately violated Jim Crow laws. The Freedom Riders risked being assaulted, arrested, and even killed. Many other civil rights activists opposed their plan because they felt the idea was too confrontational and dangerous, and could possibly result in a setback for the civil rights movement. Despite the risks and opposition, the Freedom Riders did not abort their mission. The activists were tired of waiting, therefore they decided that they are not going to ... • 50. Mobile Versions Of The Mobile version isn t perfect, but is definitely better than the mobile phone version. There is a lot more information on the desktop version than the mobile. The mobile version only has two images on the slide instead of four. The mobile version also only has three categories to choose from instead of six. The user is also unable to access their account on the mobile version. Most mobile versions have a link at the bottom of the desktop or full site version but it does not work. The full site version link just opens up another tab that contains the mobile version and not the desktop version like it is supposed to. The desktop version is the best option out of the two when looking for all of the information. The site is pretty easily navigated the user can pick a category and see all of the other categories within the category with ease. The only problem is the words, besides the main categories, are very tiny. If a user has bad eyesight, it could be very hard for them to see the sub categories or some of the other links on the websites. Even someone with good eyesight still has to squint in order to read the words correctly. In order to make the site better they should make the words bigger and if it being too crowded is the issue they should readjust the sub categories in order for there to be fewer and make them bigger in order to read them more easily. There is a text size button that helps to increase the size of the text but not by much and it does make it look more crowded. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
