Erechteinon On The Acropolis In Athens
I was impressed by Erechtheion, on the Acropolis in Athens. It was built between 421 B.C and 406
B.C. and repaired in 377/76 B.C to include cross walls. Later (7th A.D.) was converted into a
Christian church.
Mnesicles might be an architect of the structure, Phidias was employed as a sculptor. The building had
a religious function, and was meant to serve as a home for Athena (goddess of war and wisdom) and
Poseidon (god of sea, storm, earthquake, horses). There is also a belief that it was built to honor the
king Erechtheus (king of Athens). There is also another belief, that Erechteinon was a replacement of
the temple of Athena Polias.
The building is small comparing to Parthenon, which is on the south from it (see attached image of

Roaring 20 s Research Paper
Of all the time periods I could choose from, I would choose to be born into the roaring 20 s. The
roaring 20 s were a post world war era associated with an economic boom in the United States, and
that subsequent wealth led to a time when society changed in such a way as to correlate with the
massive changes occurring in the US. Even though this wealth couldn t last forever, as shown through
the Great Depression which began in 1929, the country itself underwent advances that forever
changed the course of its history. Teen girls began to rebel against what was considered proper society
by following new, up and coming fashion trends that showed more skin than their parents could
handle, causing a domino effect of rebellious children and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1920, after many long years of the suffragette movement, which included protests, imprisonment,
and even force feeding, women received the right to vote, the first of many times women brought
about change in order to better the lives of others. The 1920 s are simply credited as one of the most
exciting decades in our history. At the beginning of this decade, women were still wearing corsets, and
toward the end, women had changed their fashion in a way that would make their mothers shudder. I
would like to be a part of this time not only for the glitz and glamour it is often associated with, but
simply to witness all the change that occurred in this country during that short time. So many social
shifts occurred that got the ball rolling on how modern social society works. It is a decade that
transformed the American way, which was associated with hard work being necessary for survival and
the only way to achieve what you set your mind to. Considering the 1920 s are a post world war era,
America soon adopted an attitude of living in the moment and risking it all, which contributed to the
change of so many social mores. By going back to this time I can witness not only the changing of
society, but the changing of the whole world as they knew

Differences Between Fashion And Fashion
The history of clothing dates back from the beginning of the human race, which is around 4026 B.C.
You may wonder, what s the difference between fashion and clothing? Clothing is just something to
cover the body, but fashion is so much more. Fashion represents an individual and can be a beautiful
piece of art. Fashion changes with society and is usually a very popular trend that many people at a
time follow. For this reason, the art of fashion diffused in Europe in 400 C.E. Before 400 C.E. Western
Europe was under Barbarian control, consequently, Eastern Europe and parts of Asia flourished in
fashion. Dress in the Byzantium Empire (what is now Istanbul, Turkey) was a blend of Roman and
Eastern Asian styles. The Eastern Asian style contributed many elaborate ornaments and silk. This
diffused into Rome through the new fashion trends relating to embroidery and woven designs found in
short tunics and elaborate outer garments. These styles of the Byzantine court continued to influence
all the courts of Western Europe from about 400 to 900 C.E. up until the European economy began to
recover, and Western Europe gained independence from previous Barbarian control. In this span of
500 years, the development of fashion in Europe was somewhat obscure. This was because 400 to 900
C.E. was know as the dark ages, after the fall of the Roman Empire. We ll skim over the dark ages,
since men and women s fashion remained pretty basic and constant throughout that time. Women s
and men s

Childhood Obesity
INTRODUCTION Childhood obesity has become a major issue in our society. It does not only
influence one s childhood but it will also make an impact on one s later adult life. For example, how
will people perceive an obese person when one is looking for a job? There are many reasons for
childhood obesity, for example, dietary, genetics, environment, illness, and psychological factors. It is
important to be aware of what kinds of health problems obesity will bring to us. Diseases like
diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, sleep problems as well as cancer can all be brought out by
obesity. Thus it is very important to know what we can do to fight or to help others to fight this
condition. People often think that fast food is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If eating fast food has became his regularly eating habit, most likely this boy will suffer from obesity.
However, if he has a balance diet and only eats fast food once in a while, he will not be influenced by
fast food. Having the knowledge of what to eat and what not to eat is far more important then blindly
blaming obesity on fast food. How do children make the right decision and know what is good for
them or not? Parents play a big role. Parents are the role models of their children. Parents spend most
time with their children under a normal circumstance; therefore they are the most influential figure in
their childhood. According to the study from Healthy Day Reporter, As if working mothers don t have
enough to feel guilty about, a new study suggests that the more time they spend working, the heavier
their children become. (Behen, 2011, P.1) Parents need to spend more time with their kids to watch
and teach them what to eat right. Good habits are easier to form while they are still young. More
importantly, to educate them what a balanced diet is so that in the future when parents are around their
children, they can trust them to make the right decision. One other very crucial aspect is the
communication between parents and

Why Is Johnny Carson A Self-Described Loner
1. I believe that in the case of Johnny Carson s disposition, he scores low in neuroticism. There is
evidence to support this, because of the sentence, They knew Mr. Carson was intensely private, a self
described loner who shunned the spotlight when off the camera. I think a personality psychologist
would say that Carson scores high in the extraversion factor, because he displays an appealing
presence and friendliness towards his job as a comedian. This evidence is displayed in the sentence,
Still, Mr. Carson s scrubbed Midwestern presence was so appealing that he succeeded in unifying a
factious nation. Mr. Caron would score high in the openness factor, because he could turn a bad
situation into a laughable joke. He was very creative and had a vivid imagination. This evidence is
displayed in the sentence, He was also a master at milking laughs out of bad jokes and bad audiences,

Carson would score low in the agreeableness factor. This is because, even though he was a comedian,
outside of his work he was referred to as a loner. This can be confirmed by the sentences, I m not

Essay Comparing Lady Of Shalott And Aurora Leigh
The Victorian Age was a period of development and redefining social conventions. Throughout the
chaos enveloping the changing world, literature from the time period reveals profound concepts which
aligns with the dynamic reinvention of societal constructs. Literature from the Victorian Era addresses
the importance of art, staging it as a hindrance or benefit to society. Antagonistic views referring to the
representation of art reflects the confusion and controversy of the time. The poem, The Lady of
Shalott by Alfred Tennyson and the epic novel, Aurora Leigh, by Elizabeth Barrett Browning both
stress the significance of art in society. However, they portray opposing views with regards to art
being expressive or restrictive, the depiction of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In The Lady of Shalott, Tennyson characterizes art as being a restrictive force, acting against
individual desires. In the poem, the Lady s dwelling place is described as, Four gray walls, and four
grapy towers (Tennyson 15), where she is forced to reside in solitude. The poem reads, Only reapers,
reaping early / In among the bearded barley, / Hear a song that echoes cheerly (Tennyson 28 30). The
Lady s isolation, underlined by her ambiguity and lack of interaction with the external world,
authenticates her imprisonment, and furthermore poses her artwork as the oppressor. The poem
therefore suggests that art is restrictive, for the Lady of Shalott is secluded in a hidden tower and
deserted from the rest of mankind against her wishes, as she claims she is half sick of shadows
(Tennyson 71). Having the Lady s artwork confine her to the tower depicts art as a form of
punishment over those creating it. Therefore, Tennyson s The Lady of Shalott displays art as an
essential asset to enforce accepted conventional beliefs, supporting the ideology that art inevitably
separates individuals from society, and their own

In this week s module, I learned and will be explaining the elements comprising the working police

including deadly force. Finally, I will explain the ethical variables involved in police practices, as well
as the factors involved in the use of discretion. The fundamentals of negotiating the working police

Deadly force is a force that a person uses causing, or that a person knows or should know would
create a substantial risk of causing, death or seriously bodily harm or injury. Perhaps the most
important kind of discretion that police must exercise relates to the use of force. Although police
officers are legally empowered to use force in certain situations, they may use only the level of force
necessary to meet a lawful police objective (Walker, Mediating Citizen Complaints). The enormous
public attention to allegations of excessive force has deflected attention from the most common forms
of police behavior that lead to citizen complaints. Rudeness, discourtesy, or a failure to provide
adequate service make up the majority of complaints in every jurisdiction (Walker, Mediating Citizen
Complaints). The excessive use of force leads to deadly force. In my opinion, I think that if people
would just cooperate with police officers instead of resisting arrest or etc. there wouldn t be such use
of excessive force or even deadly force. In 2010, we saw a large increase in the number of deadly
force encounters our officers were involved in. Historically, the city has had about six officer involved
shootings per year. We had 14 in 2010, and the majority of those were fatal. (Police Executive

Shackleton Leadership Essay
Throughout this voyage, there was no set itinerary or guidelines to follow as they were traveling into
the unknown. Since this was an unfamiliar endeavor, the crew relied heavily on the experience and
leadership of Shackleton to navigate them through the unforeseen obstacles which laid ahead. The
adversity which faced them along every aspect of the journey was tremendous, and without a leader
who was searching for opportunities to better their circumstance, many would have perished. Kouzes

This is even more important in Shackleton s case, as complacency would undoubtedly lead to the
negligent death of his crew. For instance, when the ice began to crush the ship, Shackleton decided to
take lifeboats and abandon the vessel. If he had not searched for a better opportunity, they would have
lost all supplies when the boat finally sank. Another example is when they reached Elephant Island,
staying there would have resulted in the death all of members, as the food was scarce and there was no
ability to signal for rescue. Furthermore, if everyone tried to cross the ocean the chances of success for
all ships was unlikely. Shackleton new that another option was needed in order for everyone to
survive, so he sought out the idea of only sending himself and a few others. This allowed others to
survive on the island while they looked for rescue. If Shackleton did not seek out opportunities to
better the others, they would not have been able to reach South Georgia and return to rescue the rest.
Being a complacent leader would have altered this story from greatest survival to the greatest

Alexander The Great Legacy
Alexander the Great is the most famous conqueror in the history of the world. His legacy and conquest
has shaped the world we know today. Many leaders after him have looked to him as an example of
what a good leader should be. Alexander the Great s tomb was one of the biggest tourist attractions of
the ancient world. Roman emperors, including Pompey, Julius Caesar, and Caligula traveled to
Alexandria to pay their respects. It all started at the age of 18 when Alexander took charge of the
Companion Cavalry and helped his father in defeating the Athenian and Theban armies. Starting from
such a young age Alexander has been already shaping the empire he would create. At the age of
twenty he became king, then by the age of twenty six he conquered the Persian Empire and at age
thirty explored the Indian frontier. He was an unstoppable force conquering the world. Alexander the
Great is the greatest conqueror of the known world, because of the personal teachings of Aristotle of
Stagira, his innovated military genius and multicultural integration methods. Aristotle is one of the
greatest intellectual figures of Western history. Still today we are using his works in philosophy and
the sciences. This allowed Alexander to take in vast amounts of knowledge. Aristotle saw the love for
learning Alexander had and helped him further his studies. Growing up Alexander was interested in
the secrets of medicine. King Philip wanted to give his son the best education he could. He asks

People occasionally are not great at detailed explanations regarding what they require. Although, they
are reasonably good at specifying what exactly they need and later they are presented an option as to
what they like and don t like about it. By way of explanation, we need to communicate and work with
our stakeholders to precisely determine what they assume they want, deliver something that reflects
that concept, receive quality feedback from our stakeholders on the same, and then update our solution

Stakeholders who take charge and be associated with IT projects are likely to have a political agenda

The Highly Adaptable Amur Leopard
The leopard species is mostly associated with the stable conditions in the African savannah however
there is a rare exception living in the harsh winters of eastern Russia. This species goes by the
common names of Amur leopard, Far East leopard, Manchurian leopard or the Korean leopard. The
Amur leopard s scientific name is Panthera pardus orientalis, in the family felidae and one of ten sub
species of leopards. In 2000 the IUCN added the Amur leopard to their Red List of Threatened
Species classifying the subspecies as Critically Endangered, and the CITES has listed it on Appendix
I. This species is down to a population size of roughly thirty adults, making it the most rare species of
big cat in the wild (WWF). Previously the Amur leopard stretched from southeastern Russia, through
Northeast China, and into the Korean peninsula in the 19th century however after decades of
destruction, poaching, and hunting of its prey, the Amur leopard has been restricted to a tiny fragment
of its former range (Klappenbach). Due to this unbalance of nature the Amur Leopard is struggling to
survive. In the period between 1970 and 1983 the leopard lost eighty percent of its habitat range.
Today only 20 25 leopards it inhabit a 5,000 km squared area in Russian Province of Primorsky Krai
while only 7 12 are thought to be scattered in areas of northern China. The Amur leopard, being highly
adaptable, can survive a wide range of variability in temperature and precipitation. This adaptability

Nt1310 Unit 3 Assignment 1 Bridge
Bridge:
Bridge is a simple device that aids in interconnecting similar LAN s between local area networks that
use identical protocols for the physical and data link layers in accordance with the IEEE 802.3
standards. As the devices connected to the bridge use the same protocols, the amount of processing
required is minimal. Nowadays, routers are used more commonly to interconnect LAN s as bridges are
Layer 2 devices and pose almost no security while the router is a Layer 3 device and offers better Data
Security.
Routers:
Paraphrasing (Stallings, 2007) the function of routers is to get the packet to a destination network. The
router reads the header created by the Network Layer of the protocol stack on the source computer.

Switch:
According to (Burke, 2004),A switch is a multiport bridge. When a switch receives a frame (A data
packet with address and other protocol information embedded), it amplifies the signal, looks at the
MAC address to determine which port should retransmit the frame to get it to the intended network
device and sends it to that port. The switch can be configured to disconnect any attached device, to
discard frames intended for an attached device, to send frames with a specific hardware address to
another hardware address instead and to copy a frame to a mirror port which can send it to an attached

Every Computer that connects to a network must have a Network Interface Card (NIC). Most new
Computers have them built into the motherboard. It has one or sometimes more RJ45 socket(s) that

Abstract: The purpose of this research was to develop and test a conceptual framework for sustainable

elements of sustainable development and the contextual nature of sustainable development. Resource

The concept grew out of dissatisfaction with entrenched policies of continuous economic growth and
unequal distribution of benefits and costs ( Bramwell and Lane, 1993; Hardy, Beeton, and
Pearson,2002). Similarly, sustainable development for tourism industry is found to be difficult to
define( Swarbrooke,1999), The term could be defined as a form of tourism sustained over a period
time(Butler,1999). Accordingly, tourism industry that meets the needs of today s tourists without
taking away from the future generations the resource necessary to fulfill their own needs. Thus, the
controversy exists over a definition for sustainable tourism development.
The most widely quoted definition of sustainable development is the one provided by the
Brundtland Report, the report says that sustainable development is development that meets the needs
of present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs, ( World
Commission on Environment and Development,1987,p.43). According to Wall(1997) and
Hunter(1995), two important ingredients are included in this statement: human needs and
environmental limitations. For the World Commission, the major objective of development is to
satisfy human needs and aspirations for a better quality of life for all people. In other words,
sustainable development means long term economic sustainability within a framework of long term
ecological sustainability plus

History of Spanking Essay
Since the birth of the nation Americans have wrestled about the topic of spanking children for
discipline. We waver back and forth for a while it is okay and expected that we will discipline the
children by using corporal punishment. Then everything changes and for years it is no longer
acceptable. It has been the subject of many heated debates and will continue to do so as long as we
have parents and as long as they raise children. In the long run we will find out if spanking turned out
to be an asset or a liability but for the immediate future it is something America needs to go back to
using for guidance purposes. We are seeing more violence in teenagers than ever before, the juvenile
crime rate seems to be rising and for the last two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Members of the House of Prayer say their brand of corporal punishment is nothing more than an old
fashioned spanking. State officials say the spankings administered to at least two of the children in
that church crossed the line (Matrz, 2001). Corporal punishment, the DFCS manual says, is any
physical punishment of a child to inflict pain as a deterrent to wrong doing. It may produce transitory
pain and potential bruising. If pain and bruising are not excessive or unduly severe and result only in
short term discomfort, this is not considered maltreatment (Matrz, 2001). Where the line is crossed,
Liber said, is when the discipline causes injuries to the child. Once physical injury is left (on the
child), it constitutes child abuse and we have to intervene, she said (Matrz, 2001). While courts
continue to rule that spanking is okay, and schools are still using it as a measure of punishment in
many areas of the county there are millions of Americans who protest the use of corporal punishment
as a means to control or teach children lessons. For those who are against spanking they use the
argument that it is assault on a child. Any form of hitting even a swat on the butt is an assault on a
human being and should. Most parents feel strongly for or strongly against spanking. Their positions
are mainstays of their basic approaches to their children. At my town meetings and presentations,

Homelessness Of The United States Essay

Homelessness in America
On a single night in January 2015, there were 564,708 people experiencing homelessness in the
United States. Sixty nine percent of those who were homeless were in sheltered locations and 31
percent were found in unsheltered locations (Facts). People living in poverty are most likely have a
high risk becoming homeless. Many other reasons why becoming homeless is due to economic
conditions such as unemployment and increasing housing costs (Why). In addition, with all the new
economic rules they are at higher risk of losing what they have already. In certain areas, homeless
people are families, single mothers, and children are a major issue in homelessness. However, the
number of homeless is families who has children had increased more over the past decade or so. It is
the fastest growing division of the homeless population. The problem of homelessness in America is
growing drastically. It is an issue that can strike at anyone in each moment and least expect when the
situation occurs. Therefore, this should be addressed as a major crisis than an inconvenient issue. The
National Alliance to End Homelessness and the Government should come together to create a solution
to end all homelessness around America for once and for all.
As homelessness describes back in 1640s homelessness was seen as a moral of weakness, a character
flaw (America). If someone found one self in the 1600s homeless they had

Figurative Language in A Work of Artifice by Marge Piercy
A clever trick, crafty device, or stratagem is how Webster s Encyclopedia of Unabridged Dictionary of
the English Language defines Artifice. Marge Piercy definitely used crafty techniques in writing A
Work of Artifice. In this poem, Piercy reflects on the growth of a bonsai tree, considering the molded
existence of what it is to what it could have naturally been. With deeper analysis of this poem, the
correlation between a bonsai tree and the shaped role of women within society becomes evident. The

illustrations and sounds that correlate with the picture. In this line, for instance, a magnificent tree
high above the skyline, destroyed both by a visual bolt of lightening and a booming crack of thunder
can be seen. Examples of imagery are abundant throughout Piercy s entire poem. As readers look at
the poem externally, the imagery is directly related to a vision of the bonsai tree. With further internal
analysis, it becomes evident that there is slight ambiguity within these lines, lending themselves to
have connotative meanings. In such a way, the sense provoking images the writer includes relate not
only to describing a bonsai tree, but also to explaining the role of women within society.
Specifically, the double meanings of the imagery can be deciphered through examination of the writer
s use of metaphors. Each of the descriptions about the bonsai tree can be applied to women. In the

The Aging Process
The respect and appreciation for the diverse community of Earth are essential in the quest for success.
Each person is unique and can use this to his/her advantage as a piece of a bigger puzzle. The world
would not function without the dedication of volunteers and this is why I have always been inspired to
enrich the lives of all ages. To begin, as a recreation assistant at a retirement home, I gained a whole
new perspective about the aging process. The various activities at Guelph Lake Commons in which I
participated promote diversity as I was able to help improve the lives of seniors. The aging process
can be difficult as their abilities deteriorate; however, I tried to aid them in the discovery of their new

While Vacation Bible Camp exposes children to God, I always ensure that my group does not feel
pressured into believing something if they are uncertain. I provide them with a non judgemental, open
and caring environment for them to explore their religious beliefs. The world is not designed to be
uniform in any way and religion is no exception. People should feel free to believe what they desire.
Furthermore, I am a sports participant as I believe sports provide a smaller and safer environment to
personally develop before being exposed to the real world. As a volunteer goalie instructor, I help
goalies with both the physical and mental aspects of the game. Truthfully, not everyone will excel in
sports, but all that matters is that he/she is having fun. I love helping young girls in sports because
women s sports are important and still developing. The girls of the future need role models of present
female athletes to promote women s sports. Women can do anything males can do. In conclusion, I
hope that my community involvement enhanced the lives of others as much as it helped my journey of
self discovery. My goal to improve the lives of all ages has inspired me to pursue the diverse field of
recreation and leisure services. Defining oneself is only possible in an accepting environment, so one

APPEARANCE vs. REALITY IN THE PRINCE AND HAMLET
3. Reality and appearances, or if you prefer, being and acting, are important themes for both
Machiavelli and Shakespeare. Why? How do their perspectives on this subject agree or differ?
APPEARANCE vs. REALITY IN THE PRINCE AND HAMLET
One of the most fundamental questions in philosophy is the appearance vs. reality. We find ourselves
asking the question of what is genuinely real, and what is viewed merely as just an appearance, and
not real? It becomes difficult when we assume there is a difference in the two to determine which is
which. Generally, what we label as real is regarded as external and eternal. What we refer to as just an
appearance is regarded as temporary and internal. Many early as well as modern day authors use ...

Although he appears to be a confident father he does not trust his son to go away on his own.
Furthermore, Polonius adds to the theme of appearance versus reality by ordering Ophelia to stop
seeing Hamlet. He lies to her by telling her that Hamlet does not love her, he only lusts for her. Two of
Hamlet s closest friends from his childhood Rosencrantz and Guildenstern can as well be viewed as
liars who become very deceitful to Hamlet. After being asked by the king to find out what is bothering
Hamlet, the two go to Hamlet pretending to see him as a friend, but are in reality just obeying the king
s orders. When they ask what is troubling Hamlet, they become insincere, and almost sound as though
they had rehearsed what it was they were going to say. Hamlet noticed that the boys were told to do
this and states, A dream itself is but a shadow (Hamlet 73). Hamlet then realized that his own friend
were not in reality any friends at all. The king again sends Rosencrantz and Guildenstern to apologize
for their behavior but Hamlet noticed their intentions yet again and simply insulted them. Hamlet s
supposed friends greatly add to the theme of appearance vs. reality.

Four Causes Of Solar Eclipses
Solar eclipses are known for their beautiful and definitely interesting look they give upon the naked
eye. To be more precise it is when the sun, moon, and earth are lined up in the same plane. When
doing so the moon goes in between the Earth and sun either covering or partially covering our most
closest star. There happens to be four kinds of eclipses in total. Total, annular, partial, and hybrid.
Each eclipse has different t affects, causes, and looks that give them their name. The first eclipse to
review is Total solar eclipses. Studies show that on average, they tend to appear every 18 months on
Earth. Also, there are two types of shadows named the umbra and the penumbra. An umbra is when a
certain part of the shadows shows no light whatsoever. A penumbra is lighter and more funnel shaped
shadow that allows only a little bit of sunlight to pass. During this eclipse the moon cast its umbra in
just a few hours which means that it can sweep a third of the way around the planet! Some say that if
in the path of the umbra you may see the suns disk diminish into a crescent. This is because the moons
shadow heads toward them. A corona is the tenuous outer atmosphere of the sun. Briefly during this
eclipse, the corona is revealed as the sun is completely covered. Sadly, this beautiful piece of art only
lasts a few minutes as the longest one ever recorded was seven minutes making it rarely ever seen.
Next, a partial eclipse is only seen when the penumbra passes overhead. Meaning

James E Conyers Biography
When discussing great people in different fields of study many individuals can be named. But what
confuses a lot of individuals in this day and age is the fact that many people who changed this world
for the better, looked a lot like myself. When I say this I mean it amazes me how many great things
African Americans discovered and did for the country who expressed so much hate towards them. A

engagement with the black lady as well as their unhealthy relationship. Julian s mother as a little girl
was taught that blacks were only meant for one thing, which was to work and live as slaves. The
setting of the story was approximately in the 1950s, the time the black Americans were treated as
second class citizens and finally raised their voice demanding equal rights under the law. Incidentally,
Julian s mother had a different upbringing. She grew up visiting her grandfather in an old mansion
where they owned slaves. As a result of this, Mrs.Chestny was taught and raised as her grandfather

Differences Between Catcher In The Rye And Holden
The Catcher in the Rye, which is written by Jerome David Salinger and the novel What We All Long
For, written by Dionne Brand, both depict the inner thought and the growth of a young rebellious
character. Holden Caulfield, the sixteen year old protagonist in The Catcher in the Rye,is in the
dilemma between childhood and adulthood. He is caught between the mourning of childhood s
disappearing and the fear of adulthood s coming. On the other hand, the novel What We All Long For
represents a generational shift in the politics of being in Canadian space. Tuyen, the protagonist in the
novel is a creative artist who has fled from the pained nostalgia of her parents, Cam and Tuan s, and

Eurotunnel Vs. The Ferries Case Summary
Eurotunnel vs. the Ferries Case Analysis
Marketing Problem:
The main problem faced by Eurotunnel s senior management is that they have not developed a
competitive pricing strategy to increase its passenger and freight travel market share.
Case Solution:
Eurotunnel should use a market penetration pricing strategy at all times to gain freight customers. It
should use a market penetration pricing strategy during non peak periods and a premium pricing
strategy during peak periods with passenger car customers.
Rationale:
This strategy works best for Eurotunnel to gain market share for three main reasons: * Passenger
preference among Le Shuttle users * Patterns among peak travelers * Price elasticity of freight traffic
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the common peak travel periods, Eurotunnel will be able to compete on its capacity and speed
competencies rather than price.
Freight users in general go out of their way to get the lowest cost of trip and are very price elastic.
Since trucking companies would take a longer ferry route in order to reduce the cost, it can be inferred
that by offering a cost even slightly below that of ferries at all times to freight transporters, Le Shuttle
will be their preferred choice. By entering the market with a price lower than the ferries, the trucking
companies, which have an estimated price elasticity of demand of 3 to 4, will flock to the lower price
and will unlikely ever return to the higher priced provider. Paired with other factors valued by the
truckers, it is likely that a low price offer from the tunnel would quickly make it the first choice in
channel crossing among truckers themselves as well as trucking companies.
Eurotunnel will be able to support the increase in customers as well as the market penetration pricing
strategy. Eurotunnel currently has the capacity to accommodate 105% of the channel crossing market.
Thus, even in peak periods, Eurotunnel will be capable of accommodating the influx of passengers
without compromising on schedules or service. Eurotunnel also has low marginal cost per customer,

KFC Extra Crispy Sunscreen
Situation
Kentucky Fried Chicken has recently gone through a branding remodel. Through this remodel, KFC
learned that 76.5 percent of their customers were unaware that KFC offered an Extra Crispy Fried
Chicken Recipe. Customers only associated KFC with their Original Recipe meaning that if they were
looking for a crispier fried chicken option then they may go to another restaurant. KFC saw this lack
of knowledge as an opportunity to educate their customers and other people that KFC does in fact
offer an extra crispy recipe. KFC found that millennials were not typically engaged with their brand,
so they also wanted to develop a campaign that reached the millennial audience. With Labor Day
weekend approaching, KFC saw it has their opportunity to leverage the last summer holiday.
Objectives
This campaign included an output objective, informational objective, and behavioral objective. Below

Harriet Lowell s Impact On American Women
When describing Harriet Robinson s account of mill life, it was said that it lets us see the women as
active participants in their own lives. ( Modern History ). Nothing could be more true. Lowell, a city
filled with mills powered by the Merrimack River became the country s dream a place where industry
and economy flourished. ( At the Clang ). Like with Lowell, girls from New England flocked to mills
and factories in search of a better life and new opportunities. ( At the Clang ). Although some may
claim that factory life was a negative experience and hurt the mill girls, it is clear that the Industrial
Revolution impacted the lives of American workers in a positive way, for they gained more

Before women worked in factories, girls didn t have many opportunities to speak in public. When they
went to work in mills and factories this changed. For example, in one of the early strikes, a woman
made a speech about how it was their duty to resist all attempts at cutting down wages. This was the
first time a woman had spoken public in Lowell... ( Modern History ), and it shows how women
gained more rights, as they were able to speak out about their beliefs. Not only did women give
speeches, but they also decided to strike ( Modern History ) when their rights were being threatened.
This happened once in Lowell when the factory girls were told that they would be paid less ( Modern
History ). Factory girls also protested by signing petitions and going to meetings about movements
(Patterson). These are all examples of how women stood up for what they believed in while working
at mills. Therefore, the factories made a positive impact on the girls, for they gained enough
confidence and bravery to speak out after they had few rights. No longer were they quiet and meek
women like the overseers assumed ( At the Clang ). Because of these many early marches, a historian
mentioned that the striking mill girls efforts helped give birth to the American labor movement ( At
the Clang ), showing the influence that girls had to push for equal working conditions and equal pay. It
has even been said that the strikes had made a precedent for many more ones ( Modern History ).
Clearly, because women were able to stand up for what they believed in, they were able to have create
a future where workers could freely protest and support the issues that they thought were important.
As a result, by striking, women were able to stand up for their rights a positive change that resulted
from women working in factories during the Industrial

Historical Context And Basic Principles

Historical context and basic Principles
Even if nowadays the majority of our population is familiar with the terms digital (or online) software

In other words, the teacher has to organize and use artefacts (i.e. tools, objects) in a DME, with
specific mathematical tasks, so as to guide his/her students instrumental genesis with i.e. selection,

such as thinking, explaining or discussing (Borba et al, 2013) can be established with or without the
use of online material; it depends on teacher s abilities and efforts.
What is an instrumental genesis though? It is a well known term, which describes the process of

The fuming elephant in a black suit behind the media is a political representation of the republican
party and their growing frustration for unfair treatment as far as garnering media attention. The
placement of Donald Trump directly oppose to the republican party reveals that Trump is not an
acceptable Republican candidate as symbolized by him being on the opposite side of the elephant.
Furthermore, in the cartoon, the color choice also convey a symbolic message to the viewers. For
instance, the color light violet represents inferiority and insignificance (Colour Affect). the elephant is
illustrated light violet as almost as he is bruised to show how he is unable to captivate the media s
attention. The color yellow like the taxicab dominates the picture to grab the attention of the viewers
and to reveal the center of the issue, which in this case is the media. Symbols are used to questions the
media s ethical stand and Donald Trump s political approach. Why is the media focused too much on
Trump s sensational tenets instead of questioning his economic plans and policies? The elephant s
displeasure and the media s excessive coverages unrelated to politics symbolize the political tension
and the media s ethical downfall. Rather than inquiring Trump about his future plans, the mass media
is more interested in Donald Trump disrespectful and misogynistic remarks. The media s improper
actions represent their loss of moral integrity and their crave for more controversial statements. In

My Hidden Quality Is That I Enjoy Taking Care Of Newborns,...

Usually, I am a very introverted person and I need a long time to open up to people, but it is different

I also like to spend time with toddleres. I like to plan activities for them and give the opportunites to

Teotihuacan is an ancient mesoamerican city in Mexico. It is called The City of Gods and has very
important civilizations in mesoamerica. The founders of the city is uncertain but archaeologists
believe it was built by the Toltec people. The city was mostly ruins by the time the Aztecs took over. It
is one of the most visited archeological spots in Mexico. The Fall of Teotihuacan was very sudden and
was believed to be invaded by the spanish.
When the Aztecs found Teotihuacan they believed that is where it all started they brought in some of
their own religion. They saw it as the place the Gods sacrificed themselves for the world to be
recreated. There are many ruins located in Teotihuacan. The Pyramid of the moon which had elevated
platforms which most likely were used for human sacrifice and better viewing for the people on the
floor to see. It was built for the Great Goddess of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In class we spoke about how the aztecs performed sacrifices with human hearts to the Gods so the sun
would rise another day. Under this pyramid they found underground tunnels and rooms that were most
likely used for rituals. Gods then were fed and nourished with the sacrificed blood and flesh which
ensured the continued balance and prosperity of Aztec society. (ancient.eu) By feeding the Sun God he
would have enough power to raise the sun the next morning. Ceremonies were held in specific
pyramids usually the largest. They placed whoever they were going to sacrifice on the stone and open
their chest up right there and then and take out their heart. The heart was then placed on a stone vessel
and burned for the God. The Temple of The Feathered Serpent is the Third largest ruin and hundreds
of bodies were discovered under it. Most of the bodies found were male and buried with weapons. The
temple being built in style of a serpent was probably a burial ground for warriors who fought for

Interventions and Care for Patients
Evidence Based Practice Paper
Evidence based practice uses current research and clinical judgment to provide interventions and care
for patients (Kelly, 2012). It is important for nurses and all healthcare team members to be up to date
on current practices so patients can receive evidence based interventions that improve clinical
outcomes. According to Kelly (2012), almost half of patients that receive care, receive interventions
that are not based on evidence which can ultimately compromise the safety of patients and their health
outcomes. Peripheral intravenous therapy (PIV) is a common practice in the acute care setting and
evidence based practices have been established to drive appropriate care for this intervention.
Almost all patients that are admitted into the acute care setting require peripheral intravenous therapy.
PIV therapy is an important factor in the care of patients in the hospital and it is most often used to
maintain or correct fluid and electrolyte balances, administer medications, and replace blood or blood
products (Ignatavicius and Workman, 2013). PIV therapy is an invasive therapy that requires catheter
insertion into the vascular system and access is gained through the patient s skin. Because this is an
invasive procedure, patients are at a risk of developing catheter related infections. Catheter related
infections are preventable and as nurses it is our responsibility to maintain the PIV site and use the
appropriate protocols and interventions to

Dead Poets Society Conformity
What is conformity? To put it simply, it means to adhere to societal standards or norms . Adolescents
are particularly susceptible to such; when they begin to separate from their family and form their own
identity is when they also seek acceptance from their peers or live up to expectations from their
parental figures. Conforming to social norms help them redefine themselves while earning them
acceptance and approval. Fitting in simply feels good (Ulene 6). It means that by blending in and
mimicking the people around them makes teenagers feel good during the process of finding
themselves. Conformity to the social norms of an era is a common problem among teens. While
attempting to create their own identity, they are actively trying to fit ... Show more content on

The music video depicts a young child building a wall between himself and his peers. He is different
from the children who all look the same with their masks. He writes poetry, which he is punished for,
and simply does not fit in with his peers who actively submit themselves to their teachers All in all,
you were all just bricks in the wall (Pink Floyd, 8). They are fed into a machine that spits them out
looking exactly the same as each other, then fed into a meat grinder, symbolizing their own self
destruction. Of course, while actual students are not fed into a meat grinder, the symbolism is clear.
Students go through their school career being told what to do and how to act. This will program the
kids into acting in similar fashions, thereby contributing to the child s isolation. The symbolism
directly translates into teenagers today: being trained to do the same schoolwork the same way that
will get recycled later. Conformity in a school environment, which is where it is most common, is
arguably the most destructive as that is where the majority of teenagers spend their

Misogynistic Social Roles In Jane Austen s Pride And...
The novel Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen depicts the endeavours of two sisters finding lovers in
the late 18th century. Austen s novel takes place during the turning of the 19th century in Regency
England, an age in which societal status is of the utmost importance and each individual is ranked
based on their family name, wealth, and education. This common ideal of the time period is
detrimental to the livelihood of the sisters and the probability of them marrying the men that they truly
love. The novel portrays this common prejudice among the social classes, specifically when Mrs
Bennet insists that her daughter marry a man in order to keep their estate, Mr. Darcy s initial dismissal
of Elizabeth due to her class, and Miss Bingley s manipulation of her brother in order to maintain their
families immaculate reputation. The Bennet household consists of Mr. Bennet, Mrs. Bennet, and their
five daughters. As the story begins to unfold, it is revealed that Mr. Bennet s property is entailed,
meaning that when he passes, nothing of his will be left to his wife or daughters, but will be directly
inherited by the closest male relative. In revealing this detail, Austen illustrates the misogynistic social
view of the time period which implies that only men should be held responsible for finances. Due to
this circumstance, Mrs. Bennet finds herself frantically searching for suitors for her daughters while
solely considering their wealth. In Jane s case, she is fortunate enough

The Spiritual Side Of Healing
The word healing comes from the Anglo Saxon word haelen, which means to make whole. One way to
look at it is as harmony of mind, body, and spirit. (Keirtzer, 2013) Healing not only pertains to being
cured from a disease or sickness but also at peace with what is happening or has happened. Because
most of the world is deeply religious it is important that they are healed physically, physiologically
and spiritually. The components of healing involve technology, the environment, and the culture. To
be completely healed a hospital need to look at the spiritual side of healing and must make sure that
the patient has been satisfied and is able to cope with the sickness. Therefore, technology is always
advancing in our world and new innovations are created to help patients be cured faster and in decent
time. New technology has made it where the patients can order food off of touch screens and contact
their doctors with emails. We have big machines that analyze patients and can look into their bodies to
help diagnose the problems. The internet has helped the patients stay connected to their doctors from
where ever they are at. Also, prescription drugs have made the healing process faster keep the patient
healthy. With all the advancement in technology, it is important to remember that they are people and
need human interactions and one on one talking. The advancement of technology as it has connected
the patient to physician also disconnects the patient from one on one time

  • 2. Erechteinon On The Acropolis In Athens I was impressed by Erechtheion, on the Acropolis in Athens. It was built between 421 B.C and 406 B.C. and repaired in 377/76 B.C to include cross walls. Later (7th A.D.) was converted into a Christian church. Mnesicles might be an architect of the structure, Phidias was employed as a sculptor. The building had a religious function, and was meant to serve as a home for Athena (goddess of war and wisdom) and Poseidon (god of sea, storm, earthquake, horses). There is also a belief that it was built to honor the king Erechtheus (king of Athens). There is also another belief, that Erechteinon was a replacement of the temple of Athena Polias. • 3. Roaring 20 s Research Paper Of all the time periods I could choose from, I would choose to be born into the roaring 20 s. The roaring 20 s were a post world war era associated with an economic boom in the United States, and that subsequent wealth led to a time when society changed in such a way as to correlate with the massive changes occurring in the US. Even though this wealth couldn t last forever, as shown through the Great Depression which began in 1929, the country itself underwent advances that forever changed the course of its history. Teen girls began to rebel against what was considered proper society by following new, up and coming fashion trends that showed more skin than their parents could handle, causing a domino effect of rebellious children and ... In 1920, after many long years of the suffragette movement, which included protests, imprisonment, and even force feeding, women received the right to vote, the first of many times women brought about change in order to better the lives of others. The 1920 s are simply credited as one of the most exciting decades in our history. At the beginning of this decade, women were still wearing corsets, and toward the end, women had changed their fashion in a way that would make their mothers shudder. I would like to be a part of this time not only for the glitz and glamour it is often associated with, but simply to witness all the change that occurred in this country during that short time. So many social shifts occurred that got the ball rolling on how modern social society works. It is a decade that transformed the American way, which was associated with hard work being necessary for survival and the only way to achieve what you set your mind to. Considering the 1920 s are a post world war era, America soon adopted an attitude of living in the moment and risking it all, which contributed to the change of so many social mores. By going back to this time I can witness not only the changing of society, but the changing of the whole world as they knew ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Differences Between Fashion And Fashion The history of clothing dates back from the beginning of the human race, which is around 4026 B.C. You may wonder, what s the difference between fashion and clothing? Clothing is just something to cover the body, but fashion is so much more. Fashion represents an individual and can be a beautiful piece of art. Fashion changes with society and is usually a very popular trend that many people at a time follow. For this reason, the art of fashion diffused in Europe in 400 C.E. Before 400 C.E. Western Europe was under Barbarian control, consequently, Eastern Europe and parts of Asia flourished in fashion. Dress in the Byzantium Empire (what is now Istanbul, Turkey) was a blend of Roman and Eastern Asian styles. The Eastern Asian style contributed many elaborate ornaments and silk. This diffused into Rome through the new fashion trends relating to embroidery and woven designs found in short tunics and elaborate outer garments. These styles of the Byzantine court continued to influence all the courts of Western Europe from about 400 to 900 C.E. up until the European economy began to recover, and Western Europe gained independence from previous Barbarian control. In this span of 500 years, the development of fashion in Europe was somewhat obscure. This was because 400 to 900 C.E. was know as the dark ages, after the fall of the Roman Empire. We ll skim over the dark ages, since men and women s fashion remained pretty basic and constant throughout that time. Women s and men s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Childhood Obesity INTRODUCTION Childhood obesity has become a major issue in our society. It does not only influence one s childhood but it will also make an impact on one s later adult life. For example, how will people perceive an obese person when one is looking for a job? There are many reasons for childhood obesity, for example, dietary, genetics, environment, illness, and psychological factors. It is important to be aware of what kinds of health problems obesity will bring to us. Diseases like diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, sleep problems as well as cancer can all be brought out by obesity. However, if he has a balance diet and only eats fast food once in a while, he will not be influenced by fast food. Having the knowledge of what to eat and what not to eat is far more important then blindly blaming obesity on fast food. How do children make the right decision and know what is good for them or not? Parents play a big role. Parents are the role models of their children. Parents spend most time with their children under a normal circumstance; therefore they are the most influential figure in their childhood. According to the study from Healthy Day Reporter, As if working mothers don t have enough to feel guilty about, a new study suggests that the more time they spend working, the heavier their children become. (Behen, 2011, P.1) Parents need to spend more time with their kids to watch and teach them what to eat right. Good habits are easier to form while they are still young. More importantly, to educate them what a balanced diet is so that in the future when parents are around their children, they can trust them to make the right decision. • 6. Why Is Johnny Carson A Self-Described Loner 1. I believe that in the case of Johnny Carson s disposition, he scores low in neuroticism. There is evidence to support this, because of the sentence, They knew Mr. Carson was intensely private, a self described loner who shunned the spotlight when off the camera. I think a personality psychologist would say that Carson scores high in the extraversion factor, because he displays an appealing presence and friendliness towards his job as a comedian. This evidence is displayed in the sentence, Still, Mr. Carson s scrubbed Midwestern presence was so appealing that he succeeded in unifying a factious nation. Mr. Caron would score high in the openness factor, because he could turn a bad situation into a laughable joke. He was very creative and had a vivid imagination. • 7. Essay Comparing Lady Of Shalott And Aurora Leigh The Victorian Age was a period of development and redefining social conventions. Throughout the chaos enveloping the changing world, literature from the time period reveals profound concepts which aligns with the dynamic reinvention of societal constructs. Literature from the Victorian Era addresses the importance of art, staging it as a hindrance or benefit to society. Antagonistic views referring to the representation of art reflects the confusion and controversy of the time. The poem, The Lady of Shalott by Alfred Tennyson and the epic novel, Aurora Leigh, by Elizabeth Barrett Browning both stress the significance of art in society. However, they portray opposing views with regards to art being expressive or restrictive, the depiction of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In The Lady of Shalott, Tennyson characterizes art as being a restrictive force, acting against individual desires. In the poem, the Lady s dwelling place is described as, Four gray walls, and four grapy towers (Tennyson 15), where she is forced to reside in solitude. The poem reads, Only reapers, reaping early / In among the bearded barley, / Hear a song that echoes cheerly (Tennyson 28 30). The Lady s isolation, underlined by her ambiguity and lack of interaction with the external world, authenticates her imprisonment, and furthermore poses her artwork as the oppressor. The poem therefore suggests that art is restrictive, for the Lady of Shalott is secluded in a hidden tower and deserted from the rest of mankind against her wishes, as she claims she is half sick of shadows (Tennyson 71). Having the Lady s artwork confine her to the tower depicts art as a form of punishment over those creating it. Therefore, Tennyson s The Lady of Shalott displays art as an essential asset to enforce accepted conventional beliefs, supporting the ideology that art inevitably separates individuals from society, and their own ... Deadly force is a force that a person uses causing, or that a person knows or should know would create a substantial risk of causing, death or seriously bodily harm or injury. Perhaps the most important kind of discretion that police must exercise relates to the use of force. Although police officers are legally empowered to use force in certain situations, they may use only the level of force necessary to meet a lawful police objective (Walker, Mediating Citizen Complaints). The enormous public attention to allegations of excessive force has deflected attention from the most common forms of police behavior that lead to citizen complaints. Rudeness, discourtesy, or a failure to provide adequate service make up the majority of complaints in every jurisdiction (Walker, Mediating Citizen Complaints). The excessive use of force leads to deadly force. In my opinion, I think that if people would just cooperate with police officers instead of resisting arrest or etc. there wouldn t be such use of excessive force or even deadly force. In 2010, we saw a large increase in the number of deadly force encounters our officers were involved in. Historically, the city has had about six officer involved shootings per year. Members of the House of Prayer say their brand of corporal punishment is nothing more than an old fashioned spanking. State officials say the spankings administered to at least two of the children in that church crossed the line (Matrz, 2001). Corporal punishment, the DFCS manual says, is any physical punishment of a child to inflict pain as a deterrent to wrong doing. It may produce transitory pain and potential bruising. If pain and bruising are not excessive or unduly severe and result only in short term discomfort, this is not considered maltreatment (Matrz, 2001). Where the line is crossed, Liber said, is when the discipline causes injuries to the child. Once physical injury is left (on the child), it constitutes child abuse and we have to intervene, she said (Matrz, 2001). While courts continue to rule that spanking is okay, and schools are still using it as a measure of punishment in many areas of the county there are millions of Americans who protest the use of corporal punishment as a means to control or teach children lessons. For those who are against spanking they use the argument that it is assault on a child. Any form of hitting even a swat on the butt is an assault on a human being and should. Essay on Figurative Language in A Work of Artifice Figurative Language in A Work of Artifice by Marge Piercy A clever trick, crafty device, or stratagem is how Webster s Encyclopedia of Unabridged Dictionary of the English Language defines Artifice. Marge Piercy definitely used crafty techniques in writing A Work of Artifice. In this poem, Piercy reflects on the growth of a bonsai tree, considering the molded existence of what it is to what it could have naturally been. With deeper analysis of this poem, the correlation between a bonsai tree and the shaped role of women within society becomes evident. The poet introduces one specific metaphor in the beginning, comparing the growth of a bonsai tree to the development of women. This single metaphor is supported throughout ... Readers visualize an incredibly precise little gardener, as he diligently prunes the bonsai tree. Another of Piercy s lines is, could have grown eighty feet tall on the side of a mountain till split by lightning. Again the reader is provided with detailed illustrations and sounds that correlate with the picture. In this line, for instance, a magnificent tree high above the skyline, destroyed both by a visual bolt of lightening and a booming crack of thunder can be seen. Examples of imagery are abundant throughout Piercy s entire poem. As readers look at the poem externally, the imagery is directly related to a vision of the bonsai tree. With further internal analysis, it becomes evident that there is slight ambiguity within these lines, lending themselves to have connotative meanings. In such a way, the sense provoking images the writer includes relate not only to describing a bonsai tree, but also to explaining the role of women within society. Specifically, the double meanings of the imagery can be deciphered through examination of the writer s use of metaphors. Each of the descriptions about the bonsai tree can be applied to women. • 22. APPEARANCE vs. REALITY IN THE PRINCE AND HAMLET 3. Reality and appearances, or if you prefer, being and acting, are important themes for both Machiavelli and Shakespeare. Why? How do their perspectives on this subject agree or differ? APPEARANCE vs. REALITY IN THE PRINCE AND HAMLET One of the most fundamental questions in philosophy is the appearance vs. reality. We find ourselves asking the question of what is genuinely real, and what is viewed merely as just an appearance, and not real? It becomes difficult when we assume there is a difference in the two to determine which is which. Generally, what we label as real is regarded as external and eternal. What we refer to as just an appearance is regarded as temporary and internal. Many early as well as modern day authors use ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Two of Hamlet s closest friends from his childhood Rosencrantz and Guildenstern can as well be viewed as liars who become very deceitful to Hamlet. After being asked by the king to find out what is bothering Hamlet, the two go to Hamlet pretending to see him as a friend, but are in reality just obeying the king s orders. When they ask what is troubling Hamlet, they become insincere, and almost sound as though they had rehearsed what it was they were going to say. Hamlet noticed that the boys were told to do this and states, A dream itself is but a shadow (Hamlet 73). Hamlet then realized that his own friend were not in reality any friends at all. The king again sends Rosencrantz and Guildenstern to apologize for their behavior but Hamlet noticed their intentions yet again and simply insulted them. Hamlet s supposed friends greatly add to the theme of appearance vs. reality. To be more precise it is when the sun, moon, and earth are lined up in the same plane. When doing so the moon goes in between the Earth and sun either covering or partially covering our most closest star. There happens to be four kinds of eclipses in total. Total, annular, partial, and hybrid. Each eclipse has different t affects, causes, and looks that give them their name. The first eclipse to review is Total solar eclipses. Studies show that on average, they tend to appear every 18 months on Earth. Also, there are two types of shadows named the umbra and the penumbra. An umbra is when a certain part of the shadows shows no light whatsoever. A penumbra is lighter and more funnel shaped shadow that allows only a little bit of sunlight to pass. During this eclipse the moon cast its umbra in just a few hours which means that it can sweep a third of the way around the planet! Some say that if in the path of the umbra you may see the suns disk diminish into a crescent. This is because the moons shadow heads toward them. A corona is the tenuous outer atmosphere of the sun. Briefly during this eclipse, the corona is revealed as the sun is completely covered. Sadly, this beautiful piece of art only lasts a few minutes as the longest one ever recorded was seven minutes making it rarely ever seen. Next, a partial eclipse is only seen when the penumbra passes overhead. Meaning ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Ferries Case Summary Eurotunnel vs. the Ferries Case Analysis Marketing Problem: The main problem faced by Eurotunnel s senior management is that they have not developed a competitive pricing strategy to increase its passenger and freight travel market share. Case Solution: Eurotunnel should use a market penetration pricing strategy at all times to gain freight customers. It should use a market penetration pricing strategy during non peak periods and a premium pricing strategy during peak periods with passenger car customers. Rationale: This strategy works best for Eurotunnel to gain market share for three main reasons: * Passenger preference among Le Shuttle users * Patterns among peak travelers * Price elasticity of freight traffic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the common peak travel periods, Eurotunnel will be able to compete on its capacity and speed competencies rather than price. Freight users in general go out of their way to get the lowest cost of trip and are very price elastic. Since trucking companies would take a longer ferry route in order to reduce the cost, it can be inferred that by offering a cost even slightly below that of ferries at all times to freight transporters, Le Shuttle will be their preferred choice. By entering the market with a price lower than the ferries, the trucking companies, which have an estimated price elasticity of demand of 3 to 4, will flock to the lower price and will unlikely ever return to the higher priced provider. Paired with other factors valued by the truckers, it is likely that a low price offer from the tunnel would quickly make it the first choice in channel crossing among truckers themselves as well as trucking companies. Eurotunnel will be able to support the increase in customers as well as the market penetration pricing strategy. Eurotunnel currently has the capacity to accommodate 105% of the channel crossing market. For example, in one of the early strikes, a woman made a speech about how it was their duty to resist all attempts at cutting down wages. This was the first time a woman had spoken public in Lowell... ( Modern History ), and it shows how women gained more rights, as they were able to speak out about their beliefs. Not only did women give speeches, but they also decided to strike ( Modern History ) when their rights were being threatened. This happened once in Lowell when the factory girls were told that they would be paid less ( Modern History ). Factory girls also protested by signing petitions and going to meetings about movements (Patterson). These are all examples of how women stood up for what they believed in while working at mills. Therefore, the factories made a positive impact on the girls, for they gained enough confidence and bravery to speak out after they had few rights. • 40. Interventions and Care for Patients Evidence Based Practice Paper Evidence based practice uses current research and clinical judgment to provide interventions and care for patients (Kelly, 2012). It is important for nurses and all healthcare team members to be up to date on current practices so patients can receive evidence based interventions that improve clinical outcomes. According to Kelly (2012), almost half of patients that receive care, receive interventions that are not based on evidence which can ultimately compromise the safety of patients and their health outcomes. Peripheral intravenous therapy (PIV) is a common practice in the acute care setting and evidence based practices have been established to drive appropriate care for this intervention. Almost all patients that are admitted into the acute care setting require peripheral intravenous therapy. PIV therapy is an important factor in the care of patients in the hospital and it is most often used to maintain or correct fluid and electrolyte balances, administer medications, and replace blood or blood products (Ignatavicius and Workman, 2013). PIV therapy is an invasive therapy that requires catheter insertion into the vascular system and access is gained through the patient s skin. Because this is an invasive procedure, patients are at a risk of developing catheter related infections. Catheter related infections are preventable and as nurses it is our responsibility to maintain the PIV site and use the appropriate protocols and interventions to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Adolescents are particularly susceptible to such; when they begin to separate from their family and form their own identity is when they also seek acceptance from their peers or live up to expectations from their parental figures. Conforming to social norms help them redefine themselves while earning them acceptance and approval. Fitting in simply feels good (Ulene 6). It means that by blending in and mimicking the people around them makes teenagers feel good during the process of finding themselves. The music video depicts a young child building a wall between himself and his peers. He is different from the children who all look the same with their masks. He writes poetry, which he is punished for, and simply does not fit in with his peers who actively submit themselves to their teachers All in all, you were all just bricks in the wall (Pink Floyd, 8). They are fed into a machine that spits them out looking exactly the same as each other, then fed into a meat grinder, symbolizing their own self destruction. Of course, while actual students are not fed into a meat grinder, the symbolism is clear. Students go through their school career being told what to do and how to act. This will program the kids into acting in similar fashions, thereby contributing to the child s isolation. The symbolism directly translates into teenagers today: being trained to do the same schoolwork the same way that will get recycled later. Conformity in a school environment, which is where it is most common, is arguably the most destructive as that is where the majority of teenagers spend their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. Misogynistic Social Roles In Jane Austen s Pride And... The novel Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen depicts the endeavours of two sisters finding lovers in the late 18th century. Austen s novel takes place during the turning of the 19th century in Regency England, an age in which societal status is of the utmost importance and each individual is ranked based on their family name, wealth, and education. This common ideal of the time period is detrimental to the livelihood of the sisters and the probability of them marrying the men that they truly love. The novel portrays this common prejudice among the social classes, specifically when Mrs Bennet insists that her daughter marry a man in order to keep their estate, Mr. Darcy s initial dismissal of Elizabeth due to her class, and Miss Bingley s manipulation of her brother in order to maintain their families immaculate reputation. The Bennet household consists of Mr. Bennet, Mrs. Bennet, and their five daughters. As the story begins to unfold, it is revealed that Mr. Bennet s property is entailed, meaning that when he passes, nothing of his will be left to his wife or daughters, but will be directly inherited by the closest male relative. In revealing this detail, Austen illustrates the misogynistic social view of the time period which implies that only men should be held responsible for finances. Due to this circumstance, Mrs. Bennet finds herself frantically searching for suitors for her daughters while solely considering their wealth. In Jane s case, she is fortunate enough ...
